- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time, a wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 2: My name is Beaumont E. Jones.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Thanks for listening wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for
- 0:13Speaker 1: watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like, rate us, review us,
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us five stars. You only give us four stars.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm inclined to believe you are a hater. We got
- 0:24Speaker 1: some interesting sports news about people not paying money. You'll
- 0:27Speaker 1: find out what I mean when we get there. But first,
- 0:30Speaker 1: we got the big news over the weekend. The Baltimore Ravens.
- 0:34Speaker 1: traded two first-round picks to the Raiders, and they received
- 0:39Speaker 1: Max Crosby in return. And I don't know about you guys,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but I can't wait to see how the Raiders fuck
- 0:46Speaker 1: this up.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Like.
- 0:49Speaker 2: What are they going to do with the first round picks?
- 0:52Speaker 1: The thing about draft picks as currency is their actual
- 0:57Speaker 1: value is really interesting to stop and consider. So the
- 1:01Speaker 1: value of Max Crosby as an edge rusher, I think
- 1:05Speaker 1: almost across the board, no matter who gets the edge rusher, like,
- 1:08Speaker 1: you know, top five edge rusher, we kind of know
- 1:11Speaker 1: what that's worth. Like, quantifying that gets to be a
- 1:14Speaker 1: little tricky. I mean, that's what you do with the
- 1:16Speaker 1: draft picks and everything else, but I still feel like
- 1:18Speaker 1: even if we're talking about it just in a qualitative sense,
- 1:21Speaker 1: we know what that means, right?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Draft picks, it all.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Depends on who's doing the picking, right? So, on one level,
- 1:34Speaker 1: for the Ravens, I would probably argue, and Ryan, you
- 1:37Speaker 1: tell me if I'm wrong. I'm going to probably start
- 1:38Speaker 1: looking this up while we talk about it, but The Ravens,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I feel like they've got a pretty good track record
- 1:44Speaker 1: of what they do when they have first-round picks, right?
- 1:47Speaker 4: There is one of these teams that also almost never
- 1:49Speaker 4: trades them either. Yes. Yeah, so they have a good
- 1:52Speaker 4: history of knowing what they're doing going back about since
- 1:55Speaker 4: they've been in Baltimore.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so what they do with their first-round picks, their picks,
- 2:00Speaker 1: all right, so we will go with them first-round picks
- 2:03Speaker 1: since 2016. Ronnie Stanley, Marlon Humphrey, Hayden Hurst, Lamar Jackson,
- 2:10Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown, Patrick Queen, Rashad Bateman, Odafe Owe, Kyle Hamilton,
- 2:19Speaker 1: Tyler Linderbaum, Zay Flowers, Nate Wiggins, and Malachi Starks. Now,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I think those last two, not quite what we're talking
- 2:26Speaker 1: about before, but for the Ravens, a first-round.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Pick is a big deal.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:32Speaker 2: They do good things with first-round picks.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Let's look up Raiders... First round picks. And we will
- 2:41Speaker 1: also go back to 2016. And Ryan, let's see what
- 2:45Speaker 1: we got here.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Carl Joseph. Garyon Conley.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Colton Miller. Cleland Farrell.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Josh Jacobs. Jonathan Abram. Henry Ruggs.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Demond Arnett.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That was another.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Alex Leatherwood.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Tyree Wilson, Brock Bowers, and Ashton Genting. Not bad, though
- 3:16Speaker 1: perhaps overdrafted, right? All I'm saying is, while for the Ravens,
- 3:22Speaker 1: giving up those picks, perhaps an expenditure of currency.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:27Speaker 2: For the Raiders, you put.
- 3:29Speaker 1: A first-round pick in the hand of the Raiders, it'd
- 3:31Speaker 1: be like, if it's a dollar in my hand, it
- 3:34Speaker 1: is 50 cents in yours. Yes. First round pick just
- 3:38Speaker 1: doesn't mean they should trade their first round pick every
- 3:42Speaker 1: fucking year. In fact, I have no idea why they
- 3:44Speaker 1: would even want a first round pick or giving them
- 3:47Speaker 1: two first round picks. I would be terrified if I
- 3:50Speaker 1: were the Raiders. If I was here to choose twice.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Who in the, who in the building knows what to
- 3:55Speaker 1: do with one of these things?
- 3:58Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, clearly, I mean, who's the adult
- 4:02Speaker 4: in that room? Is it Mark Davis and his awesome haircut?
- 4:07Speaker 4: Is it Tom Brady?
- 4:09Speaker 2: It's Tom Brady.
- 4:11Speaker 4: And his 14 jobs.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 1: But to be fair, there's 14 jobs. I don't think
- 4:15Speaker 1: the issue is the 14 jobs.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Although, I mean, I can't help.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Well, look, the one job he ain't got to do
- 4:22Speaker 1: right now.
- 4:23Speaker 4: That's true.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Like, I guess I don't really know.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Like, the only two jobs I really know of are
- 4:27Speaker 1: the two jobs he shouldn't be allowed to have at
- 4:29Speaker 1: the same time.
- 4:30Speaker 4: And he, that, that man seems to, he's got that
- 4:32Speaker 4: weird flag football thing.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That's now, um, that's no longer in Saudi Arabia.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Yeah. No longer in Saudi Arabia. That man does a
- 4:40Speaker 4: lot of media.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 4: And, and it's, it's just interesting. And then he has
- 4:47Speaker 4: his various extracurriculars of being a plus with celebrity. And, and, and,
- 4:51Speaker 4: and single a dad. That too.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He's also a dad.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Did you see the athletic story my man Mike Silver
- 4:59Speaker 1: did about Alex Guerrero having a little too much juice
- 5:03Speaker 1: around there?
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Part of the reason Max Crosby isn't there anymore.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Yes.
- 5:07Speaker 1: The issue with Tom Brady being the person in charge
- 5:13Speaker 1: is what made Tom Brady good at what he did
- 5:17Speaker 1: is something that it's entirely possible no other human has
- 5:23Speaker 1: in them, which is this insane will to keep getting
- 5:27Speaker 1: better right like forget about will to win just the
- 5:32Speaker 1: decision that I am going to get better at this
- 5:34Speaker 1: every day and I'm gonna keep coming up with new
- 5:36Speaker 1: ways to do all this dude they made one of
- 5:40Speaker 1: you literally.
- 5:41Speaker 4: One it is a non-transferable skill.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah yeah he didn't get there because he has such
- 5:45Speaker 1: a great eye for talent that's just not and look
- 5:48Speaker 1: maybe he does but that is a completely different job
- 5:51Speaker 1: for example let me talk about the Baltimore Ravens Ozzie
- 5:53Speaker 1: Newsome Hall of Fame, tight end.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Hall of Fame, executive.
- 5:59Speaker 1: There aren't that many people in any of the games
- 6:02Speaker 1: who can say those two things at the same time.
- 6:06Speaker 2: It's a really tough thing.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Who is on that list?
- 6:10Speaker 4: Jerry West.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Jerry West.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Um.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, it'll take me too long to try
- 6:15Speaker 2: to play this game.
- 6:16Speaker 4: But that's... Maybe we'll see how John Lynch turns out.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 4: He's going to be close in both.
- 6:21Speaker 2: John Elway put together a Super Bowl winner.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 2: But, I mean, John Lynch works for Kyle Shanahan.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Like, that's not... That's true.
- 6:29Speaker 2: That's a different situation.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But the bottom line is, giving them two first-round picks,
- 6:35Speaker 1: not a big deal.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Correct.
- 6:36Speaker 1: For the Ravens, Jesse Mentor, congratulations. Baltimore Ravens have been
- 6:41Speaker 1: in existence since the year 1996. I would make the
- 6:44Speaker 1: argument that at no point has a coach truly been
- 6:47Speaker 1: on the clock, right? Like, they let Brian Billing keep
- 6:51Speaker 1: it up after winning that Super Bowl. They let him
- 6:53Speaker 1: kick it around for a long time. Brian Billing is
- 6:56Speaker 1: a Super Bowl winning coach that nobody else gave that
- 7:00Speaker 1: a try. And it wasn't like he won a Super
- 7:03Speaker 1: Bowl with the Avengers, by the way. Like they put
- 7:05Speaker 1: together a great defense and everything, but nobody gave Ryan
- 7:09Speaker 1: Billig any credit. And it never felt like he was
- 7:11Speaker 1: actually on the clock, but he went like four and 12,
- 7:13Speaker 1: I want to say in the last year that he
- 7:15Speaker 1: was there. And then they let him go. And then
- 7:17Speaker 1: they brought on John Harbaugh. And I mean, I said
- 7:20Speaker 1: John Harbaugh was on the clock, but nobody seemed to
- 7:23Speaker 1: believe that until they actually fired him.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Right.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Like the pressure was not just hanging over him. I
- 7:29Speaker 1: feel like you get a first year coach and you
- 7:31Speaker 1: trade two first round picks to get Max Crosby.
- 7:35Speaker 2: You are saying, hey, we're here to do this thing.
- 7:38Speaker 5: OK.
- 7:39Speaker 1: While, by the way, having a quarterback that is not
- 7:42Speaker 1: demonstrated that he has the greatest ability to shoulder pressure. Now,
- 7:46Speaker 1: what he has shown is that he has an incredible
- 7:48Speaker 1: ability to generally play football, right? And perhaps the pressure
- 7:53Speaker 1: is not really, oh, you gave up two first-round picks. Like,
- 7:55Speaker 1: that doesn't matter to Lamar Jackson. If Max Crosby makes
- 7:59Speaker 1: it to where, makes it easier to get out to
- 8:02Speaker 1: leads and easier to shut them down once you have them, right?
- 8:07Speaker 1: You've got that guy.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Because as I recall, Ryan.
- 8:09Speaker 1: You correct me if I'm wrong, their defense was I
- 8:12Speaker 1: don't think putrid was the word, but I know that
- 8:14Speaker 1: good was not the word.
- 8:16Speaker 4: It was certainly putrid. It wasn't full.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It was putrid early, right? That's right. Cause they have
- 8:22Speaker 2: the new defensive coordinator.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Right. Right.
- 8:25Speaker 2: And then they call it in Chuck Pagano to help.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And it did matter.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Like they, they, they did improve, but that's right. They,
- 8:30Speaker 2: they were cheeks cheeks to start.
- 8:32Speaker 4: And then everyone got hurt too.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yes, they did.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 2: This is, They're coming to do it.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But I feel like this is like the third time
- 8:39Speaker 1: in the last four years that the Ravens have been
- 8:42Speaker 1: all in on this year, which is not to say
- 8:44Speaker 1: that they haven't been all in, but they have. But
- 8:47Speaker 1: the bill, like usually when you talk about people being
- 8:49Speaker 1: all in in that way, it's like all in this year,
- 8:52Speaker 1: everything else be damned. So what if the bill comes due?
- 8:55Speaker 1: I feel like this is a time, though, where like
- 8:57Speaker 1: the bill is going to come due. Like two first
- 8:59Speaker 1: round picks. It doesn't come due right away. But at
- 9:02Speaker 1: some point, the bill's going to come due. The 49ers,
- 9:05Speaker 1: we have seen the bill kind of sort of come
- 9:07Speaker 1: due on that Trey Lance trade. Like at some point,
- 9:10Speaker 1: not having that capital, whether it be missing on picks
- 9:13Speaker 1: or simply not having them. At some point, the bill
- 9:16Speaker 1: comes due. And with the Ravens, we're going to see
- 9:18Speaker 1: how good the picks have been for the last couple
- 9:20Speaker 1: of years. Plus, you're not going to have two this year,
- 9:23Speaker 1: nor are you going to have the one next year. Like,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I mean, you're saying now is the time and then
- 9:29Speaker 1: down the line, it'll be cool because we have Lamar Jackson,
- 9:32Speaker 1: who is at that point now, by the way, where
- 9:35Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, while still being young, is not as young
- 9:39Speaker 1: as he used to be. Like, I believe we're now
- 9:42Speaker 1: looking at twenty eight.
- 9:44Speaker 4: 28, maybe turning 29. He was young coming in.
- 9:48Speaker 2: He was young coming in, but his 28 went miles.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Like, that's the thing about all the Josh Allen discussion. Hey,
- 9:55Speaker 1: they made a move to try to help him out, too. Um,
- 9:57Speaker 1: and Lamar is going is 29. Um, they went and
- 10:02Speaker 1: got made that move to get DJ more. And to me,
- 10:06Speaker 1: DJ more is not a number one receiver. And I
- 10:08Speaker 1: know this because you got them for a second round pick, right?
- 10:12Speaker 1: You didn't go get AJ Brown, right?
- 10:14Speaker 6: Right.
- 10:14Speaker 2: You went and got.
- 10:15Speaker 1: DJ more who Jason golf bears fan, uh, rapidly obnoxious
- 10:20Speaker 1: bears fan by the way right he got there quick
- 10:24Speaker 1: um anyway he couldn't wait to get dj more out
- 10:27Speaker 1: of there.
- 10:27Speaker 7: I mean he was gonna be their fourth option this
- 10:29Speaker 7: year yeah like but they made the move like like
- 10:35Speaker 7: that was the time to ramp up and you know
- 10:36Speaker 7: why it's time to ramp up because the chiefs ain't
- 10:40Speaker 7: the chiefs right like.
- 10:42Speaker 1: This is i don't know if they're on the like
- 10:45Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes is going to come back to start the year,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and they're dialing it back, but they made that trade.
- 10:49Speaker 2: What's the corner's name?
- 10:52Speaker 4: Trent McDuffie.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Trent McDuffie. I knew it was a Trent, but.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I almost called him Trent Gonzalez. But I knew that
- 11:01Speaker 1: he was not... I knew he wasn't Gonzalez, but there
- 11:04Speaker 1: was a similar Gonzalez.
- 11:07Speaker 4: There is a Christian Gonzalez, who's also a corner.
- 11:09Speaker 2: There are similar age, same position.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Like, there was... I thought it was better to humble
- 11:17Speaker 1: myself and ask, right? But anyway, one thing I will
- 11:20Speaker 1: say about the Chiefs in this run, and maybe this
- 11:22Speaker 1: is the privilege of having Patrick Mahomes, once it becomes
- 11:25Speaker 1: clear you're going to want too much money, they will
- 11:26Speaker 1: trade you. Tyreek Hill, this cat, they'll make the move.
- 11:33Speaker 1: But anyway, they made a move that doesn't make you
- 11:36Speaker 1: better right now.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:38Speaker 2: That's what they did.
- 11:39Speaker 1: There's no way around that. These other cats are like, ooh.
- 11:43Speaker 1: We smell an opportunity. There is one there. This is, again,
- 11:47Speaker 1: not that I think that the Steelers are necessarily knocking
- 11:50Speaker 1: on the door of a Super Bowl, but this is
- 11:52Speaker 1: why Omar Khan and whoever the new general manager for
- 11:57Speaker 1: the Vikings, that's why they should have been wrestling at St.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Elmo's about who got to go get Kyler Murray.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Like, this.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Is... This is wide open as the AFC has felt.
- 12:11Speaker 6: Right? Because.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Drake may look bad last year in the playoffs. To
- 12:16Speaker 1: be fair to him, he is young.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Young, played great defenses.
- 12:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But he looked bad. There's no way around that. I'm
- 12:24Speaker 1: not buying this Bo Nix thing yet. I'm just not there.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Anybody can do this.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Who knows what the Texans are going to do?
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, because CJ, I mean, we were once very high
- 12:37Speaker 2: on him.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Do we trust Trevor Lawrence?
- 12:41Speaker 2: I trust him a lot more than I used to.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Indianapolis, they guaranteed themselves the right to pay Daniel Jones
- 12:51Speaker 1: $ 37 million coming off an Achilles tear. Am I the
- 12:57Speaker 1: only person, the only person that saw that and was like,
- 13:02Speaker 1: that's preposterous. Because it's not like he doesn't need to run.
- 13:08Speaker 1: It's very, I mean, And I know they'd be forgetting
- 13:13Speaker 1: about it because.
- 13:13Speaker 2: You know, lightweight.
- 13:17Speaker 5: You know?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Like, I understand that. But they.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know what else they were supposed
- 13:22Speaker 1: to do, to be fair. Like, I don't think they
- 13:25Speaker 1: can go back to Anthony Richardson. But I.
- 13:28Speaker 4: We haven't said the name of the Bengals once.
- 13:31Speaker 1: We haven't said the name of the Bengals once. Trey
- 13:33Speaker 1: Hendrickson is out of there.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I mean, they're... They're not going to.
- 13:42Speaker 1: You know, just because they went to the Super Bowl
- 13:44Speaker 1: didn't mean that they stopped being the Bengals.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Correct.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I think that's... Some things are deep into your DNA.
- 13:54Speaker 1: What are the Chargers going to do now? Do the
- 13:55Speaker 1: Chargers need to... Does it feel like the Chargers need
- 13:57Speaker 1: to do something drastic?
- 13:59Speaker 4: That would be a hilarious A.J. Brown destination.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I get the feeling that A.J. Brown and Jim Harbaugh
- 14:08Speaker 1: would be great together.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Again, A.J.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Brown is going to be playing for the Eagles next
- 14:13Speaker 1: year because the Eagles aren't losers. And only losers would
- 14:17Speaker 1: trade that guy for the reason that people think that
- 14:19Speaker 1: they should trade him. Because he's too correct about the
- 14:22Speaker 1: fact that your offense isn't good enough. Think of the
- 14:27Speaker 1: message that you're sending to everybody else. Tell the truth
- 14:32Speaker 1: and get traded, even if you're the best player on
- 14:35Speaker 1: the offense. But let's run through this because you sent
- 14:39Speaker 1: me this tweet from Adam Schefter that he ran. It's
- 14:43Speaker 1: a partial list of players who have been traded for
- 14:48Speaker 1: multiple first round picks. And I'm going to go one
- 14:51Speaker 1: by one. And actually, Ryan, it'd probably be better if
- 14:55Speaker 1: you pull up said list.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And we will.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Say briefly whether they were or were not worth two
- 15:01Speaker 1: first round picks.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Let's pull this up. All right, first, we can start
- 15:07Speaker 4: with the people who were traded going on this year.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Micah Parsons. Yes. Sauce Garner.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Didn't he get hurt after they did that?
- 15:18Speaker 4: He got hurt. I mean, Micah Parsons also got hurt. Well, yes.
- 15:22Speaker 4: He got hurt basically immediately.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I mean, it looks like that's not going
- 15:27Speaker 2: to be it.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I think even with the injury that Micah Parsons sustained, yes,
- 15:31Speaker 1: you make that trade even coming off the ACL tear.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Couple of quarterbacks, Russell Wilson.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Apparently not.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Apparently not. Matthew Stafford.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I guess you'd have to say yes.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I mean, after the Super Bowl.
- 15:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Even though you get you. I mean, you had to
- 15:47Speaker 4: attach Jared Goff. I mean, one of those first picks
- 15:51Speaker 4: was to get like to absorb the Jared Goff contract.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Yes.
- 15:54Speaker 1: But I mean, also very interesting in this. They made
- 15:58Speaker 1: a first. They made a trade. And magically, instantly in
- 16:02Speaker 1: that trade, Matthew Stafford became a first ballot Hall of.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Famer just by changing teams. That's all he had to do.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Laramie Tunsil.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Laramie Tunsil. That's when the Dolphins traded for him.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Yes, to the Texans.
- 16:14Speaker 2: To the Texans.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I mean, to me, you get an all-pro left tackle
- 16:21Speaker 1: and you keep him for years. You would hope in
- 16:24Speaker 1: one of those first round picks, you'd cross your fingers
- 16:26Speaker 1: and hope that you got a player almost as good
- 16:28Speaker 1: as Laramie Tunsil.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I'd say that worked.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Jamal Adams.
- 16:31Speaker 6: No.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Khalil Mack.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So it's so interesting because he was immediately defensive player
- 16:37Speaker 1: of the year, like immediately dominant. But the problem was
- 16:40Speaker 1: they were the Bears. And so on one hand, no,
- 16:43Speaker 1: it wasn't worth it. On the other hand, they were
- 16:45Speaker 1: going to fuck it up with them picks anyway.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Jalen Ramsey.
- 16:50Speaker 2: That is when he went to the Rams.
- 16:52Speaker 4: From the Dolphins to the Rams.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if that was worth two first rounds.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I mean, I guess that's another... the results speak, right?
- 17:00Speaker 4: Jalen Ramsey is a weird one where he, every team
- 17:03Speaker 4: wants him. And then everyone's very, it's kind of like
- 17:05Speaker 4: Tyron Matthew.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 1: No, but what happens is when he gets to the
- 17:08Speaker 1: point where Jalen Ramsey knows that you're not going to
- 17:10Speaker 1: give him any more money, then let, how about let's
- 17:13Speaker 1: just go ahead and like take care of this. And
- 17:15Speaker 1: he gave it David Mulgat to the rescue. But even
- 17:18Speaker 1: then for what might've been the best corner in the league,
- 17:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Uh, what now we get to some of the older ones, uh,
- 17:24Speaker 4: Jay Cutler.
- 17:27Speaker 1: We have to remember that they had never had a
- 17:30Speaker 1: quarterback as good as Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler still stands
- 17:33Speaker 1: as the best quarterback in like at least the last
- 17:36Speaker 1: 50 years of Chicago Bears football. They also went to
- 17:40Speaker 1: an NFC championship game that Jay Cutler could not play
- 17:42Speaker 1: in because he had a torn MCL.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I am going to say, yeah, kind of.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Ricky Williams.
- 17:52Speaker 1: It's talk about a different world.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Where a running back. could get traded for two first-round picks.
- 17:59Speaker 1: He immediately had that year where he ran for like
- 18:02Speaker 1: 1,800 yards, but they gave him the ball like 400 times.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And then it turned into some real yakety sack shit
- 18:09Speaker 1: over there with him, including the retirement. And then he
- 18:12Speaker 1: had to come back because he owed people money. It
- 18:14Speaker 1: was fun, but I don't think it was worth two
- 18:16Speaker 1: first-round picks.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Keyshawn Johnson.
- 18:19Speaker 2: They won a Super Bowl.
- 18:21Speaker 1: They did not win a Super Bowl because they traded
- 18:23Speaker 1: two first-round picks to get Keyshawn Johnson. And if I'm
- 18:26Speaker 1: not mistaken, I think the Jets took like Sean Ellis
- 18:29Speaker 1: and John Abraham with those picks. The Jets that year
- 18:35Speaker 1: had four first-round picks.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Chad Pennington. I think it was Kyle Beck, the tight end.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Not Kyle Beck. Kyle Brady went to Penn State. And
- 18:44Speaker 2: then John Abraham and Sean Ellis. Crazy. Yes, four first-round
- 18:47Speaker 2: picks in the same year.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Jeff George.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Ooh, and if I am.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Not mistaken, it is the Atlanta Falcons who decided to
- 18:57Speaker 1: trade those two first-round picks in order to get Jeff George.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And that tenure ended with Jeff George and the head
- 19:03Speaker 1: coach having a screaming match on the sideline. And Jeff George,
- 19:08Speaker 1: the least liked player in the history of the NFL,
- 19:11Speaker 1: for them to tell that guy, that good, just sit
- 19:13Speaker 1: your ass down. No, you won't play anymore. That is
- 19:16Speaker 1: basically what happened. But have you ever watched Jeff George
- 19:19Speaker 1: throw a football?
- 19:20Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I see why everybody thinks.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I think right now, if.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Jeff George is out somewhere throwing a football and I
- 19:27Speaker 1: didn't tell you it was Jeff George, you'd give it
- 19:30Speaker 1: a run too.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Eric Dickerson and Herschel Walker.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Well, yes. Two first-round picks plus.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 1: A fairly significant Epsilon that makes this out of that
- 19:44Speaker 1: was Adam Schefter trolling.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:46Speaker 1: In that when Eric Dickerson to the Colts for those
- 19:48Speaker 1: two first round picks is interesting though because Dickerson he
- 19:50Speaker 1: was still that dude for about another year and change
- 19:54Speaker 1: and then that was it I don't know we gonna
- 19:56Speaker 1: see but this is my right I'm asking you this
- 19:59Speaker 1: is my last question with Max Crosby um he's not
- 20:03Speaker 1: Miles Garrett he's not top of game Micah Parsons like
- 20:09Speaker 1: I don't I feel like as good as he is,
- 20:14Speaker 1: it seemed extra good because he played with bums.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Right.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But I don't, I don't expect him to show up
- 20:22Speaker 1: over here and be like, is he better than Trey? Like,
- 20:25Speaker 1: would you say he was better than Trey Henderson? Let's
- 20:27Speaker 1: put it like that.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I think that's, I think that's the comp.
- 20:30Speaker 1: You know, like TJ Watt, who I think is on
- 20:32Speaker 1: the other side of, you know, approaching the other side
- 20:35Speaker 1: of the mountain.
- 20:35Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Like, but I don't, I don't think Max Crosby is
- 20:39Speaker 1: tier one edge rusher.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Me neither.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I don't think he's much worse than tier. I mean, look,
- 20:44Speaker 1: Miles Garrett. Okay, so Miles Garrett is tier zero?
- 20:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Are we comfortable saying that? You know, but I don't know.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I think he can make an impact. He's 29 years old. Like, hey, man,
- 20:58Speaker 1: but you know what? Here's the thing about it. Here's
- 21:01Speaker 1: the thing the Baltimore Ravens don't have to ask themselves.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Where are they going to get pressure from?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Peace of mind.
- 21:06Speaker 1: That's where the first round pick. Hey, man, I've been
- 21:14Speaker 1: doing this job a long time now, and I remember
- 21:17Speaker 1: it was 10 years ago, coming up on it. This
- 21:22Speaker 1: was when Colin Kaepernick did the whole thing, taking a
- 21:29Speaker 1: knee for the police situation. There was a lot of
- 21:36Speaker 1: discussion about the idea of sticking to sports. And, you know,
- 21:42Speaker 1: as it was going on, I did. And you can
- 21:46Speaker 1: go back and listen to stuff I was doing. I
- 21:47Speaker 1: do things the way that I do them. But I
- 21:49Speaker 1: did acknowledge, by and large, the idea or understanding of
- 21:52Speaker 1: the fact that when I worked at ESPN, the P
- 21:55Speaker 1: was not for politics.
- 21:56Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 21:57Speaker 1: You have to have a recognition of what it is
- 21:58Speaker 1: that people show up for. And most people did not
- 22:02Speaker 1: show up to sports stuff to want to hear about
- 22:04Speaker 1: all that other stuff.
- 22:06Speaker 2: But for... a lot of people, like the.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Topics were just so irresistible. Like even the people that
- 22:13Speaker 1: would get mad, right? Like, like rage bait, even if
- 22:16Speaker 1: it's not just simply rage bait, um, in a way
- 22:19Speaker 1: to minimize the significance of it is it made people mad.
- 22:22Speaker 1: People gravitate toward that, but it was a whole lot.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Of stick sports, stick sports.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And then in the end, the stick to sports people
- 22:30Speaker 1: really did win. Like I've talked about this with, uh,
- 22:33Speaker 1: ESPN and, there's nobody really that they even put out
- 22:37Speaker 1: there whose job it is to give context to what's
- 22:39Speaker 1: going on in sports outside of the sports part.
- 22:41Speaker 6: Right.
- 22:42Speaker 1: They got a bunch of gambling people, people to help
- 22:44Speaker 1: you make picks, but ain't nobody there to help you
- 22:46Speaker 1: understand the world. And I would argue that athletes really
- 22:49Speaker 1: aren't even the ones at this point that are doing
- 22:51Speaker 1: very much to bring discussions of the larger world to
- 22:55Speaker 1: you now. Right.
- 22:56Speaker 2: So six sports, you guys won.
- 23:00Speaker 1: And since you guys won, um, I'm a little confused
- 23:06Speaker 1: as to why it is you're not furious right now
- 23:09Speaker 1: because the president of the United States is making it
- 23:13Speaker 1: impossible for me to stick to sports because he keeps
- 23:15Speaker 1: showing up at all levels. Like, in fact, Ryan, there's
- 23:19Speaker 1: a little slight irony here. I'm curious what you think
- 23:21Speaker 1: about this. I don't know if anybody's thought about it
- 23:23Speaker 1: this way, but the stick to sports crowd, they should
- 23:28Speaker 1: love the NBA right now.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:31Speaker 1: And the reason I say that is The president ain't
- 23:34Speaker 1: never going to pull up at no NBA game. Like
- 23:37Speaker 1: all the stuff that the people that used to be
- 23:39Speaker 1: sick to sports, Trump keeps showing up at all they shit, right?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Like Trump pulling up at your MMA. Trump's man was
- 23:47Speaker 1: pulling up at the wider Olympics. You know, we like
- 23:50Speaker 1: to try to come to the NFL games.
- 23:53Speaker 4: The SEC games.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but he pulls up at all y'all stuff. And
- 23:57Speaker 1: I thought that that was the opposite of what y'all wanted. Now,
- 24:00Speaker 1: to be fair, at some of these events, y'all be
- 24:02Speaker 1: booing him. But it is at a point now where
- 24:08Speaker 1: he's there and it's not even like we stick to
- 24:12Speaker 1: sports anymore as much as it is that we just
- 24:15Speaker 1: try our best to ignore what's going on, right? As
- 24:19Speaker 1: a media who covers these things. I say, and look, overall,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I don't have so much a problem with that. One,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I mean, to be perfectly fair, I don't believe most
- 24:28Speaker 1: of my colleagues are the best equipped to discuss these things.
- 24:30Speaker 2: It's just not what they got into the business for.
- 24:34Speaker 2: that's fine, right?
- 24:36Speaker 1: Number two, there's just not really much new to say
- 24:38Speaker 1: about Trump.
- 24:40Speaker 4: We're on, what, season 10-11?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 4: It's been a long decade.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Yeah, we got them four years off, right? But we don't...
- 24:50Speaker 1: There's no new discussion to be had about Trump. But damn,
- 24:55Speaker 1: he is around more than I feel like he had ever. Oh,
- 25:00Speaker 1: we didn't even talk about the college football thing.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 6: Right.
- 25:04Speaker 1: He had all the people there. And man, he did
- 25:07Speaker 1: not read the scout report. About this one, before he
- 25:12Speaker 1: went out there, he didn't know where the decisions came from.
- 25:15Speaker 2: He was blaming people that weren't to be blamed.
- 25:17Speaker 1: He did not realize the Supreme Court in that Austin
- 25:20Speaker 1: case had voted 9-0.
- 25:21Speaker 2: He was trying to blame that.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Four years ago.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 1: He was trying to blame that entirely on some radical activist,
- 25:28Speaker 1: some mythical activist judge in California. He was all over
- 25:33Speaker 1: the place in this. And it was funny because he
- 25:36Speaker 1: thinks that the solution to all of this is to
- 25:38Speaker 1: stop paying the players.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Or like, did they get like $ 10, 000? Yes. You know,
- 25:43Speaker 4: like it's 1984.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Now look, here's what I do say about that.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Where I halfway get that. No, I do not get.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I get where he's coming from, but not in a
- 25:52Speaker 2: way that justifies it.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Look, we all have to admit one of these trick
- 25:56Speaker 1: bags about this is nobody finds rich teenagers charming.
- 26:02Speaker 2: No one ever has. They don't wear it well.
- 26:05Speaker 1: It's like nobody likes that. Is it hating?
- 26:09Speaker 2: 100%. That is what it is.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But that is something that across the board, think about
- 26:16Speaker 1: the last time somebody made reference to someone under the
- 26:20Speaker 1: age of 22 being rich and it was brought up
- 26:23Speaker 1: in a positive way. It just doesn't work that way.
- 26:28Speaker 1: But anyway, Trump's solution is we need to stop paying
- 26:31Speaker 1: the players. I see that the internet was really mad
- 26:33Speaker 1: at Nick Saban for talking about how the new system
- 26:36Speaker 1: is chaos. By the way, the new system is chaos. A,
- 26:40Speaker 1: I don't have any direct evidence of this, but something
- 26:43Speaker 1: tells me that even before it was allowed, Nick Saban
- 26:47Speaker 1: did his part to help some people get paid.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I don't know what his part is.
- 26:52Speaker 1: It's not to accuse him of violating an NCAA rule necessarily.
- 26:55Speaker 1: But I don't think Nick Saban was making anybody give
- 26:57Speaker 1: the money back if such a thing ever happened. I
- 27:00Speaker 1: don't think he's the enemy in that sense. The system
- 27:03Speaker 1: is chaos, though. Right. It's not simply because the money's there,
- 27:07Speaker 1: but how to deal with the money is a thing
- 27:09Speaker 1: there does. Somebody needs to do something about this person.
- 27:12Speaker 1: It just isn't Trump. Like these, this is a very
- 27:15Speaker 1: complex problem. That is not a man whose business is
- 27:19Speaker 1: in providing complex solutions.
- 27:21Speaker 4: And this is someone who, you know, not exactly the
- 27:24Speaker 4: world's biggest college football fan.
- 27:26Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no. This isn't what he does.
- 27:27Speaker 1: What he knows is, is people at them games that
- 27:30Speaker 1: like him.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Right. Right.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Like he's like, hey, my people say they're having a problem.
- 27:34Speaker 1: How about I show up there and I save them? Okay.
- 27:37Speaker 2: That's what he's going for.
- 27:38Speaker 1: But I bring up the fact that he seems to
- 27:41Speaker 1: think that part of the solution is to stop paying.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Because anyone that's aware of Donald Trump's track record knows
- 27:48Speaker 1: he always thinks the solution to a problem, the first
- 27:51Speaker 1: place to start is by not paying. He has an
- 27:55Speaker 1: extended long track record of not paying. And this comes
- 28:01Speaker 1: back to the idea of the politics and sports and
- 28:05Speaker 1: everything else. For those of you who are into these
- 28:08Speaker 1: sorts of things, the World Cup is going to be
- 28:12Speaker 1: in the United States, in Canada, and in Mexico, and
- 28:15Speaker 1: it's going to be between June and July of this year.
- 28:18Speaker 1: And I don't know if you guys watch the news,
- 28:21Speaker 1: but the world is on fire. In some places, the
- 28:25Speaker 1: world is literally on fire. And from what I can glean,
- 28:30Speaker 1: people are not very happy with the United States' approach
- 28:34Speaker 1: to what is going on over there in Iran. That
- 28:38Speaker 1: does not seem to be, that doesn't, I mean, I
- 28:41Speaker 1: guess in some places it's okay.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I'm just telling you, it's a bit of a controversial topic.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Another controversial topic is ICE and immigration. And during that
- 28:52Speaker 1: time of year, we're going to ask a lot of
- 28:54Speaker 1: people from a lot of countries to come over here
- 28:57Speaker 1: to a place where people are getting yoked up, even
- 29:01Speaker 1: if their paperwork is absolutely correct. And it's not like
- 29:03Speaker 1: they're getting yoked up and then they show the papers
- 29:06Speaker 1: and they're like, oh, my bad. And then they let
- 29:07Speaker 1: you out. you might still be chilling out, right? I'm
- 29:10Speaker 1: just saying, I don't think that Donald Trump is necessarily
- 29:15Speaker 1: going to be that popular with the crowd that is
- 29:19Speaker 1: into the World Cup. These are vibes, right? But it's
- 29:24Speaker 1: kind of a big deal. He's going to need to
- 29:26Speaker 1: pull up to the World Cup stuff when the World
- 29:29Speaker 1: Cup stuff happens, right? So again, we're going to have
- 29:32Speaker 1: another situation where politics is in the sports because Donald Trump,
- 29:38Speaker 1: who and he'd been talking about this world cup is
- 29:40Speaker 1: like a thing prior right like i know he's been
- 29:43Speaker 1: a little bit busy now but this world cup thing
- 29:47Speaker 1: is going to bring him further to the front.
- 29:49Speaker 4: It's fascinating because the united states plays uh they're playing
- 29:53Speaker 4: their three games in los angeles seattle and los angeles.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Oh that's a lot of booing and he has to.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Say trump uh for these sporting events, doesn't typically show
- 30:01Speaker 4: up to enemy territory.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you're correct. Those are places where we did not vote. Now, typically,
- 30:08Speaker 1: the home team does make it to the next round, right?
- 30:11Speaker 1: That does tend to happen.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Yeah, the quarterfinals or the round of 32, maybe we
- 30:18Speaker 4: see him there if that's in a, well, let's call
- 30:20Speaker 4: it a more favorable location. But you have to also remember,
- 30:23Speaker 4: talking about sticking to sports, this summer, UFC coming to Trump's,
- 30:28Speaker 4: literally Trump's house.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Well, yes. There we go, right?
- 30:32Speaker 1: That's the one group that never told us they were
- 30:35Speaker 1: sticking to sports. They were like, Dana White's like, we
- 30:37Speaker 1: about this Trump, and we going to ride this Trump
- 30:40Speaker 1: all the way. They going to have a fight right
- 30:42Speaker 1: there at his house, right? That is, again, now, I
- 30:46Speaker 1: don't traffic in that space, so I had forgotten that
- 30:48Speaker 1: that's going to happen. But this is the thing with
- 30:50Speaker 1: the World Cup that I don't think people know, Ryan,
- 30:53Speaker 1: You brought this to my attention. So you just stick
- 30:57Speaker 1: with me in case I get this wrong. But anyway,
- 31:00Speaker 1: there are certain funding that the federal government had promised
- 31:04Speaker 1: to pay to help secure the World Cup. Right. Like
- 31:09Speaker 1: it's this money for security at the venues where.
- 31:13Speaker 4: The World Cup will be played. All over the country. Right.
- 31:17Speaker 1: They haven't gotten their money. for this security and it's
- 31:21Speaker 1: become a thing in Foxborough where the Patriots play outside
- 31:23Speaker 1: of Boston because they're like, hey man, we're not doing
- 31:27Speaker 1: anything until you give us our money. Like, if there's
- 31:31Speaker 1: not going to be money to secure this, then we're
- 31:32Speaker 1: just not going to do this. Like, they're not on the, well,
- 31:35Speaker 1: we'll just keep pushing through. Because part of what makes
- 31:38Speaker 1: it interesting is Foxborough is not Los Angeles.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Right.
- 31:41Speaker 2: It's not a city.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a different local tax revenue base.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they got it, right? Like, they can't just
- 31:48Speaker 1: front shoot them money for this security. And so there's
- 31:51Speaker 1: a dispute in this because.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Well, I guess Kristi Noem had said this, but her
- 31:57Speaker 1: word doesn't mean anything.
- 31:58Speaker 2: She doesn't work there anymore.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But when she was the head, the secretary of Homeland Security,
- 32:03Speaker 1: she was saying that the government shutdown was the reason
- 32:06Speaker 1: that the money had not been doled out for these
- 32:08Speaker 1: people and that the Democrats are holding it up. And
- 32:11Speaker 1: then if the Democrats shell out the money, then everything
- 32:13Speaker 1: can go ahead. And then there was a representative. This
- 32:16Speaker 1: woman said, no, it had the receipts. This is this
- 32:18Speaker 1: money had already been earmarked.
- 32:21Speaker 2: No, we're just not.
- 32:23Speaker 1: We just not paying because politics is showing up in
- 32:28Speaker 1: your sports again because they just aren't paying the money.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Can you imagine the idea of having a World Cup
- 32:36Speaker 1: in these times with substandard security? Think about what the
- 32:43Speaker 1: idea is behind this. Like everything's going to hell. Okay,
- 32:49Speaker 1: we have understood this. But the one thing that you
- 32:51Speaker 1: would think that everybody would understand, especially with the mission
- 32:54Speaker 1: that they have chosen to undertake, is that we kind
- 32:57Speaker 1: of need to make sure that the World.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Cup has the utmost security.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Right? And I'm not saying this to imply that any
- 33:05Speaker 1: group of people is more likely to do anything.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I'm saying this to imply that those.
- 33:10Speaker 1: People think that certain groups of people are more inclined
- 33:14Speaker 1: to do certain things. And they need to get us
- 33:16Speaker 1: some security if that's how they feel. Nope. They just
- 33:20Speaker 1: not paying. And not one person. I guess in this place,
- 33:25Speaker 1: this is where you don't want the government to stick
- 33:27Speaker 1: to sports. You want the government to stick to paying
- 33:28Speaker 1: this money. But then after that, I ain't gonna lie.
- 33:32Speaker 1: A little, a little, a little sports sticking. Or no,
- 33:37Speaker 1: I need him to stop sticking to sports. Is that
- 33:38Speaker 1: what he needed to do? Stick to government? I just
- 33:42Speaker 1: don't like it. Ever wanted to go to the NBA finals? Well,

- 38:23Speaker 4: social media feeds.
- 38:23Speaker 3: We got you.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Now, if you haven't heard. If you haven't heard, Beau,
- 38:30Speaker 4: more disasters at the Department of Homeland Security are People
- 38:34Speaker 4: are having real issues with TSA. There are long shutdowns
- 38:40Speaker 4: all over the country. Estimated wait times in Houston, 165
- 38:45Speaker 4: minutes to get through security. Atlanta, 60 minutes. New Orleans,
- 38:48Speaker 4: 60 minutes. George Bush in Houston, 51 minutes. And Charlotte,
- 38:53Speaker 4: 47 minutes. Tough times for DHS, Bo.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're saying that that is in large part
- 38:59Speaker 1: because of spring break travel. the first Houston airport is
- 39:04Speaker 1: wild because that's the small airport.
- 39:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 1: But they can't staff in part because of the shutdown.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Shout out, and I think we're looking at this the
- 39:13Speaker 1: wrong way. Thank you for your service. Anybody that's showing
- 39:17Speaker 1: up to be TSA and you're not getting paid.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Can you imagine? The only thing worse than standing in
- 39:23Speaker 4: a line for two hours is standing and just getting
- 39:26Speaker 4: people through that line for eight hours for free.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I cannot imagine.
- 39:30Speaker 1: For the life of me working a job. It's not
- 39:33Speaker 1: that I can't imagine working a job that I wouldn't
- 39:35Speaker 1: get paid for because I've done that.
- 39:38Speaker 2: OK, but there ain't no upward mobility in this. Like
- 39:42Speaker 2: this isn't the beginning of a beautiful future for you.
- 39:44Speaker 2: You're just working at the TSA.
- 39:47Speaker 4: You don't want to become a shift manager at TSA? No.
- 39:51Speaker 1: And then the worst part about it is it's creating
- 39:53Speaker 1: a situation where you're going to have unhappy and impatient passengers.
- 39:57Speaker 1: And I understand where they're coming from. But if I
- 40:00Speaker 1: was them passengers, I'd put on a happy face. Because
- 40:03Speaker 1: if I was working TSA, oh, everybody can wait.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Everybody can wait.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Let me tell you something funny my brother talked about once.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I think he had to go down. It was some
- 40:13Speaker 1: city situation in New York. It was like the tow lot.
- 40:17Speaker 1: I can't remember exactly what it was. His car got
- 40:20Speaker 1: towed or something like that. It was one of those
- 40:23Speaker 1: places nobody wants to be. And he said he's in
- 40:27Speaker 1: line and he peeps gang and some dude is up
- 40:30Speaker 1: and he gets to the window. And he is breaking
- 40:32Speaker 1: bad with the woman on the other side of the window,
- 40:34Speaker 1: talking crazy to her. And I don't know if you've
- 40:36Speaker 1: ever had your car towed, but that is an unhappy place.
- 40:39Speaker 1: But you got to go there, right? Because nobody, it
- 40:41Speaker 1: was never anybody's fault they got their car towed, you know.
- 40:44Speaker 1: But anyway, he said that dude started breaking bad with
- 40:47Speaker 1: that woman. The next thing you know, he's heard like
- 40:51Speaker 1: somebody hit a button. And when somebody break bad with
- 40:54Speaker 1: them at the windows, they press a button and all
- 40:58Speaker 1: the windows close. There's like a shade that comes down
- 41:03Speaker 1: and the whole operation shuts down when you start talking crazy.
- 41:07Speaker 4: It's like, you guys better act right. You guys will
- 41:09Speaker 4: stay here until we're done.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Well, no, no, no.
- 41:11Speaker 1: But here's the key. It's not about you guys. It
- 41:14Speaker 1: was one person. So it's sending the message to everybody.
- 41:20Speaker 1: If one of you acts up, then the rest of
- 41:22Speaker 1: us get shut down, which creates a new enforcement mechanism,
- 41:26Speaker 1: which is these already unhappy people are no longer unhappy
- 41:30Speaker 1: with the people behind the glass. They're now unhappy with you.
- 41:34Speaker 4: That sounds like an unruly sports team.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yes, but that's what the airport could quickly turn into,
- 41:41Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. Just trust that everybody involved is
- 41:45Speaker 1: doing the best they can.
- 41:47Speaker 4: All right, speaking of institutions we can't trust, tech major
- 41:52Speaker 4: Oracle is planning to slash up to 30,000 jobs to
- 41:56Speaker 4: fund AI data centers. According to a report citing research
- 42:00Speaker 4: by an investment bank, Oracle will be selling some of
- 42:03Speaker 4: its activities as U.S. banks pull back from investing in
- 42:05Speaker 4: the company's AI data expansion. Beau, what was your reaction
- 42:10Speaker 4: to this?
- 42:10Speaker 2: You said the banks aren't funding this anymore?
- 42:14Speaker 1: Yeah, let's talk more about that part because a significant
- 42:18Speaker 1: portion of this economy is currently being floated by AI stuff.
- 42:22Speaker 1: And the banks appear to believe that we have reached
- 42:24Speaker 1: capacity because these companies aren't quite profitable. They're spending a
- 42:29Speaker 1: lot of money, but not making as much money as
- 42:32Speaker 1: you should when you're spending that much money. But if
- 42:35Speaker 1: the banks are saying that we are no longer funding
- 42:39Speaker 1: this experiment, buddy, That's a really, really, really big deal.
- 42:44Speaker 1: At least I would think that it's a big deal.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Because Oracle, that's Ellison's.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:49Speaker 2: And for people who pay attention.
- 42:50Speaker 4: Third or fourth biggest British person in the world.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 1: So people who paid attention to that situation with the,
- 42:55Speaker 1: what you call it?
- 42:56Speaker 3: Paramount.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Paramount. That's his son.
- 42:59Speaker 1: He's so rich that he's bankrolling his son to buy
- 43:03Speaker 1: Paramount while he's still over there doing real. He owned
- 43:07Speaker 1: one of the Hawaiian islands. And I don't mean like
- 43:09Speaker 1: a little one, like one of those that people have
- 43:10Speaker 1: heard of. That's got multiple four seasons on it. I mean,
- 43:15Speaker 1: I'd be multiple, but it's there. And I, he got paper.
- 43:19Speaker 4: Yeah. Real paper.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:21Speaker 1: And he is just laying off a jillion people that,
- 43:23Speaker 1: by the way, I'm not sure he has to lay off.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Let's get back to that part. I think they'd be
- 43:28Speaker 1: just fine. But if the banks are not funding the AI,
- 43:32Speaker 1: what comes... Ryan, I keep trying to find an AI
- 43:35Speaker 1: story that is not terrifying. There isn't a one. There's not...
- 43:42Speaker 1: Do you see the one where they said that the
- 43:43Speaker 1: AI bots, that you put them in finance, the problem
- 43:46Speaker 1: is they'll start cheating and breaking the law?
- 43:48Speaker 4: Yep. There's an interesting pullout from NBC that showed AI...
- 43:54Speaker 4: Worst poll numbers in ice. Net positive, 26. Net negative, 46.
- 44:00Speaker 2: It's too late.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Too late. All right. And finally, interesting weekend with
- 44:09Speaker 4: Logan Paul. He offered a million dollars for any former
- 44:15Speaker 4: NFL player to get into a fight with him. That
- 44:18Speaker 4: was quickly shut down by his WWE boss, Triple H. Bo.
- 44:25Speaker 4: Your reaction to another Paul brother in the news.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I mean, he was going to fight Le'Veon Bell.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Yes.
- 44:34Speaker 1: And I don't think Le'Veon Bell would feel this way,
- 44:39Speaker 1: where Logan Paul said that he would offer a million
- 44:41Speaker 1: dollars to somebody to fight him. I would just simply
- 44:44Speaker 1: raise the point that somebody could propose doing it for free.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And when I say propose doing it for free, I mean,
- 44:53Speaker 1: just pull up on them and.
- 44:53Speaker 2: See what happens.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Like, I don't really root for Le'Veon Bell. He seems
- 45:00Speaker 1: to be a bit of an annoying figure himself for
- 45:03Speaker 1: a number of reasons. And I don't know if he
- 45:07Speaker 1: could have beat up Logan Paul. Like, I don't have
- 45:11Speaker 1: any insight as to whether Le'Veon Bell could fight. But
- 45:16Speaker 1: I would have liked to seen him try. I'd have
- 45:18Speaker 1: rooted for him, right? Like, you know, boxing, you know.
- 45:24Speaker 1: it bring out that racismo in people. That really wasn't
- 45:29Speaker 1: what was not going to be the case for me,
- 45:31Speaker 1: because if I'm not mistaken, Le'Veon Bell, he.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Supports people I don't support. You know what I'm saying?
- 45:39Speaker 4: He doesn't have a full Phil Mickelson timeline, but it's close.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but anybody want to whoop one of them
- 45:46Speaker 1: Paul brothers' asses, I am on your team. I'm trying
- 45:48Speaker 1: to think of who, like if Stephen Miller fought Logan Paul,
- 45:54Speaker 1: I guess I'm rooting for the asteroid, but damn, that's
- 46:00Speaker 1: a tough call.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Shit.
- 46:04Speaker 4: All right, Bo. A lot of good voicemails this week.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Here's our first.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Hey, Bomani. This is Pat from Virginia.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Long time listener, first time caller, and I have a
- 46:19Speaker 6: question for you. So I was talking about this with
- 46:22Speaker 6: my friends recently, and we were talking about just being
- 46:25Speaker 6: the biggest haters about certain teams.
- 46:28Speaker 3: I hate the Patriots.
- 46:30Speaker 6: I wish them nothing but pain and misery. But I
- 46:33Speaker 6: am from West Virginia, specifically Logan, West Virginia. And I
- 46:38Speaker 6: love Randy Moss. I've loved him my entire life. He
- 46:41Speaker 6: can do no wrong, especially not in West Virginia. Shout
- 46:46Speaker 6: out to Mann High School. My question for you is,
- 46:49Speaker 6: Is there any player growing up or currently that could
- 46:54Speaker 6: go to a team that you hate, Saints, and you
- 46:58Speaker 6: would still root for that player even if they're playing
- 47:00Speaker 6: for that team? Love the show.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Bye. I'm trying to imagine a scenario where I could root. Like,
- 47:12Speaker 1: if Randy Moss had played for the Saints, I probably
- 47:16Speaker 1: would be about it.
- 47:17Speaker 4: What about if Cam Newton played for the Saints?
- 47:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Well, you know, that gets into the.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Cam Newton gets into the Joel Anderson space of the people.
- 47:26Speaker 4: Who dislike him.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 1: But if Randy Moss had played for Duke, I'd hate
- 47:34Speaker 1: Randy Moss.
- 47:37Speaker 4: All right.
- 47:37Speaker 1: There is nothing... Like, I'm really trying to think about this. Zion,
- 47:40Speaker 1: kind of, sort of. But I'm trying to think, like,
- 47:43Speaker 1: if anybody has ever overcome Dukeness for me, I'm like, yeah.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I did write something once about how I liked J.J.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Reddick when he was in college, and I did enjoy it.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I did like him when he was in college, but
- 47:59Speaker 1: he wanted him. He ain't no... He's not a deviation.
- 48:04Speaker 1: He's part of the problem.
- 48:07Speaker 4: Alright, here's our next one.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Hey, Bo. This is Tyler calling from Memphis. I grew
- 48:13Speaker 5: up on my dad's old record collection, you know, 60s, 70s,
- 48:17Speaker 5: 80s vinyl. So the other day when I heard the
- 48:20Speaker 5: new French Montana single that uses the hook from Casey
- 48:23Speaker 5: and the Sunshine Band, I was like, oh, yeah, this
- 48:25Speaker 5: is it. Then again, my taste is not that high dollar.
- 48:29Speaker 5: I like the Trick Daddy sample of Ozzy Osbourne, so
- 48:31Speaker 5: you can tell where I'm coming from. Anyway, do you
- 48:35Speaker 5: feel like there's a producer out there who does a
- 48:37Speaker 5: consistently good job of sampling old music and unearthing a
- 48:40Speaker 5: new sound with that? Or does that even exist? I
- 48:43Speaker 5: guess I'll find out. Appreciate you and Ryan.
- 48:47Speaker 3: All right.
- 48:48Speaker 1: The Trick Daddy Ozzy sample is cool. Is he talking
- 48:52Speaker 1: about like currently? Because I'm not the person to like
- 48:56Speaker 1: speak on currently.
- 48:57Speaker 2: There's a whole world of people overall.
- 48:59Speaker 4: I think overall is a good.
- 49:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:02Speaker 1: I mean, like, I don't think there's a great rap
- 49:05Speaker 1: producer who didn't do that. Right.
- 49:08Speaker 2: And I guess different people had different things.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Like Pete Rock is kind of like the OG how
- 49:11Speaker 1: to chop up and like produce a sample. Kanye, to
- 49:15Speaker 1: me at least, became very interesting in his ability to
- 49:19Speaker 1: influence like take a sample and turn it into a
- 49:21Speaker 1: concept like say slow jams for example right like those
- 49:25Speaker 1: like i always thought that he was really strong there
- 49:28Speaker 1: i think you get like dilla was incredible with it
- 49:30Speaker 1: like the the sample kings are all over the place
- 49:34Speaker 1: they're like you get like the lazy samplers right like
- 49:37Speaker 1: diddy being the obvious example that you get at that dude.
- 49:42Speaker 1: But no, man, that's what rap is. You take yourself
- 49:46Speaker 1: back to 90s rap, and don't you worry. You will
- 49:48Speaker 1: find what it is that you were looking for.
- 49:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 49:51Speaker 4: We're back to one of our favorite games. We got
- 49:54Speaker 4: two of them. Here's our first.
- 49:56Speaker 8: Hey, what's going on, bro? This is Ryan calling from Tennessee,
- 50:00Speaker 8: and I'm going to tell you about the time somebody
- 50:02Speaker 8: didn't use their real name. So I was in the military.
- 50:05Speaker 8: I was deployed, and we had a guy in our unit.
- 50:07Speaker 8: His name was Donnie Lewis. And so, you know, he's
- 50:10Speaker 8: always Dunn-Lewis. And so one day our flight chief, the
- 50:15Speaker 8: person in charge of us, he was Air Force II,
- 50:17Speaker 8: and he was from South Georgia. He goes down there
- 50:19Speaker 8: to get the mail. He brings everybody their mail and
- 50:21Speaker 8: whatever goes through it. And he gets to the end.
- 50:24Speaker 8: He's got this big stack of mail. And so Lewis
- 50:26Speaker 8: comes up. Dunn-Lewis comes up to him and says, hey, man,
- 50:29Speaker 8: I got the mail. He said, no, man, I ain't
- 50:30Speaker 8: got nothing for you. He said, the only thing I
- 50:32Speaker 8: got here is for a Dunn-Trell Lewis. And so he's like,
- 50:37Speaker 8: I'm Dunn-Trell. And everybody in the room stopped.
- 50:39Speaker 1: We was like, what?
- 50:40Speaker 8: And my wife, she was like, man, ain't no way
- 50:43Speaker 8: in hell your name is D'Entrelle. No way your name
- 50:45Speaker 8: is D'Entrelle. White D'Entrelle? You a white D'Entrelle? Man, I
- 50:49Speaker 8: don't seen everything. Man, from that point forth, we call
- 50:51Speaker 8: that dude D'Entrelle. And just a little bit of information
- 50:54Speaker 8: about that, too, but his real name was Prince. That's right.
- 50:58Speaker 8: D'Entrelle Prince Louis. My man was from Indiana. I haven't
- 51:02Speaker 8: heard from him in years, but D'Entrelle Prince Louis, white
- 51:05Speaker 8: guy from Indiana.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Appreciate it.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Hey, I bet you somebody here listening who know that man.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I bet you.
- 51:10Speaker 1: We got enough in network to make that happen.
- 51:12Speaker 2: You know, Don Trell, Prince Louis. Holler at him.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Tell him to holler in the voicemail lines so we
- 51:16Speaker 1: can catch him up with the other buddy.
- 51:17Speaker 4: I can't imagine a better place for that situation to
- 51:21Speaker 4: happen than the military.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:23Speaker 4: Like early enlistment military.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Quite honestly, that seems like the place I would assume
- 51:28Speaker 1: that this happened more than anywhere else. I feel like
- 51:32Speaker 1: that's where White Jerome, well, I guess White Jerome, he
- 51:35Speaker 1: turns up on the board of directors in New York
- 51:38Speaker 1: But I still feel like that's where the examples that
- 51:40Speaker 1: we describe in White Deontay, I feel like he's trying
- 51:44Speaker 1: to be all he can be.
- 51:46Speaker 4: All right, here's our last one.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Bo, I had to call the show immediately. I'm Elliot
- 51:54Speaker 3: from Mobile, Alabama. I'm currently in the Springfield, Missouri airport.
- 52:01Speaker 3: And I was working in Branson, Missouri. And my driver said,
- 52:06Speaker 3: who I spoke with for about an hour, had a
- 52:08Speaker 3: really good conversation with her. Well, as we're pulling up
- 52:12Speaker 3: to the airport, somehow we started talking about names. And
- 52:17Speaker 3: my driver tells me about how her son's name is
- 52:21Speaker 3: Tyler and her other son's name is Stephen and how
- 52:27Speaker 3: people joke about how she must be an Aerosmith fan
- 52:31Speaker 3: because her son's name is Stephen and Tyler for Stephen Tyler. Anyway,
- 52:37Speaker 3: I tell her how my name is Elliot and how
- 52:39Speaker 3: I got my name from my mother, like an actor,
- 52:44Speaker 3: Bill Elliot. Well, as I'm getting ready to get out
- 52:49Speaker 3: the car, she tells me, well, my name is Laquita.
- 52:54Speaker 3: And I looked at her and said, is this Laquita?
- 52:58Speaker 3: And she said, yes, my name is actually Laquita. Yes,
- 53:02Speaker 3: this is a 62-year-old woman. who lives in Branson, Missouri,
- 53:09Speaker 3: and she is White Laquita. Bo, love listening to the show.
- 53:16Speaker 3: Been listening to it ever since you've been on Dan
- 53:18Speaker 3: Levitard back in the day on Bo' Bonnie Wednesdays. I'm
- 53:21Speaker 3: a fan ever since.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Keep doing your thing.
- 53:24Speaker 4: I listen.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Have a great day.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I appreciate that. And I want to know how many
- 53:31Speaker 1: people in Laquita's life simply call her Q.
- 53:35Speaker 4: Are you familiar with Branson, Missouri?
- 53:37Speaker 1: I am familiar with Branson, Missouri.
- 53:39Speaker 4: Talk about a special kind of white.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Branson, Missouri, like, ain't no rappers showing up doing
- 53:50Speaker 1: no residencies in Branson, Missouri.
- 53:53Speaker 4: You might not even get Christian rappers in Branson, Missouri.
- 53:56Speaker 4: McCray might not even show up there.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Yeah, there is a totality of circumstances involved in that
- 54:02Speaker 1: one right there. Wow. And who knew Springfield, Missouri had
- 54:06Speaker 1: an airport? Ain't that something? Did you know there's not
- 54:09Speaker 1: a commercial airport in the state of Delaware? They are
- 54:13Speaker 1: just strictly mooching off their neighbors.
- 54:15Speaker 2: But think about it.
- 54:16Speaker 1: If you're in Delaware, you're either close to Philly, you're
- 54:18Speaker 1: close to Baltimore.
- 54:18Speaker 2: What do you need an airport for?
- 54:20Speaker 1: But the idea that they looked around and was like, nah,
- 54:22Speaker 1: we good.
- 54:23Speaker 4: Wilmington is that place where you stop at the train
- 54:25Speaker 4: stations like, oh, this is the part of Delaware that
- 54:27Speaker 4: does not have the money.
- 54:29Speaker 2: That's Joe Biden's stop.
- 54:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I try. You stop there and around it and
- 54:35Speaker 4: then you get five miles and you're like, oh, golf course,
- 54:37Speaker 4: golf course, golf course. That's like you see all the
- 54:40Speaker 4: corporate tax breaks. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Every every where you send your credit card bill.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Correct.
- 54:46Speaker 2: That's right.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Wilmington, Delaware. But hey, ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much
- 54:51Speaker 1: for joining us here on the right time. We do
