- 0:42Speaker 3: Got lv r N stopping in.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Yeah, Justice Justice in the building pants on Instagram.
- 0:49Speaker 6: He wears cool pants and he's actually a part of
- 0:52Speaker 6: a label l v r N who discovers Summer Walker
- 0:55Speaker 6: or signed Summer Walker.
- 0:56Speaker 2: On black there's a lot of artists that's over there,
- 1:00Speaker 2: a Brest Cash. Yeah, but of course we learned that
- 1:05Speaker 2: they do management services and their label their fund and
- 1:11Speaker 2: well I'll wait till he talked about that when he
- 1:13Speaker 2: come on the show.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, we got that coming up.
- 1:15Speaker 6: But first off, we're going to start him off with
- 1:16Speaker 6: a little headline highlights right here on the balla Blair show.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Keith Lee.
- 1:21Speaker 6: He came to Atlanta and gave some interesting reviews on.
- 1:25Speaker 5: He came at the perfect time around Halloween time, because
- 1:28Speaker 5: he was scaring the ship out of all these restaurant owners.
- 1:32Speaker 6: I think they wasn't expecting it either, because you know,
- 1:35Speaker 6: you know, they started circulating online.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And I don't know about other cities, but Atlanta is
- 1:41Speaker 2: a one of a kind because he started getting death threats.
- 1:44Speaker 2: He was, Yes, it was on the local news that
- 1:47Speaker 2: his family started receiving death threats, like, dude, are black
- 1:50Speaker 2: owned businesses you try to put people out of work?
- 1:53Speaker 2: But no, he didn't put anybody. I watched, I watched TikTok.
- 1:57Speaker 5: He always make it very clear he's not on to
- 2:00Speaker 5: bash anybody.
- 2:01Speaker 2: He's not trying to tell you. He said, this is
- 2:03Speaker 2: my experience.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And he wants everybody to be trud fairly.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yes, but you know, Atlanta gonna overhype everything like, oh
- 2:10Speaker 2: my god, yeah, this place, like I believe candy bursts.
- 2:13Speaker 7: I really just want to say I do appreciate Keith
- 2:16Speaker 7: Lee for stopping by our restaurant and trying to show
- 2:18Speaker 7: us love. It is very unfortunate that we couldn't serve
- 2:21Speaker 7: him and his family. We have we would have loved to, Okay,
- 2:24Speaker 7: but he's right. We don't take to go orders on
- 2:27Speaker 7: the weekends, and the simple reason is because we do
- 2:32Speaker 7: love and appreciate the people who come and support our
- 2:35Speaker 7: restaurant on the weekends. We get a lot of community
- 2:39Speaker 7: support people in our city that show up for us,
- 2:42Speaker 7: as well as.
- 2:43Speaker 8: A lot of people from out of town.
- 2:45Speaker 7: So with that being said, we don't want to overwhelm
- 2:48Speaker 7: our kitchen by having to, you know, have such long
- 2:51Speaker 7: times for the people who are actually at the restaurant,
- 2:54Speaker 7: plus having to do to go orders because obviously that
- 2:57Speaker 7: would make the long the wait times even longer.
- 2:59Speaker 2: But hers response wasn't negative. No, it was good, it's cool,
- 3:03Speaker 2: it was cool. Yeah. I just felt like yeah, but
- 3:05Speaker 2: his family did start getting something.
- 3:06Speaker 3: But they got a response that milk and Honey initially did.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I didn't like that response.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Did you see this Keith Lee video about the real
- 3:16Speaker 1: looking honey and who is this Keith Lee?
- 3:20Speaker 8: You don't know Keith Lee.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that gave me very much.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Hey, I'm rich, I'm successful, and I don't know who
- 3:31Speaker 5: the heck this little social media guy is. I don't
- 3:33Speaker 5: like what, you know, because it's like people are get
- 3:35Speaker 5: any success off of these restaurants and stuff like that,
- 3:38Speaker 5: and it's like, man, one thing that we can't do. Man,
- 3:41Speaker 5: we can't get to a certain point where we feel like, yo,
- 3:44Speaker 5: I got money, So I have to be little people that.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Just act like you know, cause it's kindescending.
- 3:49Speaker 6: But honestly, everybody didn't know who Keith Lee was. Like,
- 3:51Speaker 6: I really didn't know because I'm not like a super
- 3:53Speaker 6: TikTok watcher like that. But I did my research and
- 3:56Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, cool. But still the evens, the same.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Treatment is the same, And I wonder what city is
- 4:03Speaker 2: he gonna go to next? Man? Wherever he going to next?
- 4:06Speaker 3: Threatening to stop the tour now because of the death threat.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's been getting I'm telling y'all, he's been getting
- 4:11Speaker 2: death threats.
- 4:11Speaker 6: So I want to know this guys. What is you
- 4:13Speaker 6: guys experience with Atlanta restaurants?
- 4:15Speaker 2: It depends, you know. For me, I'm a guy who
- 4:18Speaker 2: likes to dress very very sports casual, so I can
- 4:22Speaker 2: wear a Nike tech suit or something dressed up. I'd
- 4:25Speaker 2: be like, I hate dressing up, so I would rather
- 4:27Speaker 2: wear I always like to wear a hat. I can
- 4:29Speaker 2: have a fresh haircut and I still wear a hat.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So I just like wearing a hat. So I you know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: sometimes I get treated weird when I walk into an
- 4:36Speaker 2: establishment and I have a hat on back. Lobster bar, yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 2: lobster bar chops those places where you have to dress
- 4:43Speaker 2: nice or you know, really have some type of a
- 4:50Speaker 2: lower a lower business casual attire, no hats, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 2: nice shoes and stuff like that, no cut off shirts
- 4:56Speaker 2: and stuff like that. Me I could wear a hoodie
- 4:59Speaker 2: every day, so me, I always get treated based off
- 5:02Speaker 2: of what I wear. So if I wear something nice,
- 5:04Speaker 2: I'll be completely fine. But if I wear a hat
- 5:06Speaker 2: backwards and I walk into a restaurant, oh, they're talking
- 5:09Speaker 2: to me like I ain't nobody.
- 5:11Speaker 6: Yeah, because a lot of athletes get turned away, you know,
- 5:14Speaker 6: in these Atlanta establishments if they go to, like you said,
- 5:17Speaker 6: a nice restaurant.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yeah, So you know that's the only time. But I
- 5:21Speaker 2: have definitely received some pretty bad service in some places.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And it does make me feel sad because when you
- 5:29Speaker 2: try to support local business, and I like to tip
- 5:34Speaker 2: really big, like I literally would tip almost as the
- 5:37Speaker 2: same amount as the bill if the service is great.
- 5:39Speaker 2: If the service is not great, now, I don't want
- 5:42Speaker 2: to tip you anything, you know, but I just hate
- 5:44Speaker 2: when the service isn't good because I'm a great tipper
- 5:47Speaker 2: because I know that the waitresses and waiters they don't
- 5:50Speaker 2: make any money for real, they make money off tips.
- 5:52Speaker 2: So I'm a great tipper. I just wish that they
- 5:55Speaker 2: would know that, so you know, we can get the service.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But I don't like to say that because I want
- 5:58Speaker 2: to see how they really treat it everybody.
- 6:00Speaker 8: That's just me.
- 6:02Speaker 5: My experience with with the restaurants in Atlanta has been terrible.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie, you know.
- 6:08Speaker 5: I enjoy Keith Lee coming to the city and terrorizing
- 6:11Speaker 5: everybody because you know, uh, sometimes you know, things need
- 6:14Speaker 5: to be you know, shook up a little bit. And
- 6:18Speaker 5: a lot of people make fun of me because I
- 6:20Speaker 5: go to the same places, like the places that I
- 6:23Speaker 5: like to go to. I normally go to establishment to
- 6:26Speaker 5: where I know the manager who runs the restaurant or
- 6:28Speaker 5: I know the owner. I know somebody there that is
- 6:31Speaker 5: gonna take care of me, is gonna cater to me,
- 6:34Speaker 5: because a lot of these restaurants you go to, you
- 6:36Speaker 5: get terrible service. People act like they don't want to
- 6:39Speaker 5: be at work. I prime example, I just went to
- 6:42Speaker 5: an establishment. Not gonna say I went there. I called
- 6:46Speaker 5: the phone to order the food because I don't like
- 6:48Speaker 5: going I don't like going to restaurants and sitting down,
- 6:50Speaker 5: So I called to order the food to go.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Phone.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Phone don't work. Phone out of service, phone out of service.
- 6:58Speaker 5: I'm like every restaurant in Atlanta does not work. Anyways,
- 7:02Speaker 5: I said, okay, I'm gonna just drive up there. You know,
- 7:04Speaker 5: it's like two o'clock, a little bit out the lunch out,
- 7:06Speaker 5: so it should be slow. I go in there, walk
- 7:10Speaker 5: to the bar, sit at the bar for fifteen minutes.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Fifteen minutes. Nobody greeted me. Nobody said hey, how you doing, Hey,
- 7:20Speaker 5: welcome in. I sat there for fifteen minutes, watch a
- 7:23Speaker 5: lady make some tea for one of the customers. After
- 7:26Speaker 5: she makes the tea, she's just sitting there texting on
- 7:28Speaker 5: her phone. Then she said, hey, are you placing an order?
- 7:34Speaker 5: I said I would like to place the order, and
- 7:37Speaker 5: she was like, okay, I'll be right with you. I'm like, damn,
- 7:43Speaker 5: I can't get no water. I can't get no nothing.
- 7:46Speaker 5: So you know what I did. I wait another five
- 7:49Speaker 5: minutes and walk right out of there. And I said,
- 7:51Speaker 5: this is a prime example. Well, I do not like
- 7:53Speaker 5: going to restaurants in Atlanta because when any time I
- 7:57Speaker 5: go to Miami, I go to LA I go to
- 7:59Speaker 5: New York getting the best customer service, these restaurants in
- 8:02Speaker 5: Atlanta are trash.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm sorry, is that a black place? I don't know.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, I've had podcast. I don't know.
- 8:09Speaker 2: If I've never had mediocre service. I've either had great
- 8:14Speaker 2: service or yes, I've never had Oh this service was good.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It's always either great, like one time for Lafonda Man.
- 8:22Speaker 2: As soon as I walk in, they give me the
- 8:24Speaker 2: menu and water. Where's the fond the Finders on Howld
- 8:28Speaker 2: Mill Road, a little Mexican restaurant. As soon as I
- 8:32Speaker 2: sit down, the chips bowl kso waters.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Seems like you know what, I realized, I've never had
- 8:41Speaker 5: a bad experience at it as somewhere expensive. I agree
- 8:46Speaker 5: anytime i've That's why if I do go somewhere, then
- 8:50Speaker 5: I'm not familiar with it.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I don't know anybody.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I'm gonna make it expensive because I know I know
- 8:55Speaker 5: what I'm gonna get. You know what I'm saying. I
- 8:57Speaker 5: know I'm gonna sit down. It's gonna be boom boom.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I can eat and go home. It's not like, man,
- 9:02Speaker 5: this person didn't even speak to me, you know what
- 9:06Speaker 5: I mean. And you're working off customer service, and it's
- 9:09Speaker 5: like you go to some establishments you just know you
- 9:12Speaker 5: walk in like.
- 9:14Speaker 2: This is a rap. This's gonna be bad. Understood, this
- 9:16Speaker 2: is gonna be bad.
- 9:17Speaker 5: I could just look at the waitress face and if
- 9:20Speaker 5: they look like they in a terrible mood, I said,
- 9:24Speaker 5: this is gonna be bad.
- 9:25Speaker 6: I think a lot of times, you know, when you're
- 9:27Speaker 6: dealing with these local places, you got a lot of
- 9:29Speaker 6: people family who work in there, you know, and they
- 9:32Speaker 6: kind of probably feel like, you know, it's whatever versus
- 9:35Speaker 6: if you go into like a chain restaurant like a
- 9:37Speaker 6: long Horn or you know that these establishments where the
- 9:40Speaker 6: customer service could be iffy too, but they're not really
- 9:44Speaker 6: they don't have no ties to the owner or anything
- 9:46Speaker 6: like that, so they're legit working for a check. Like
- 9:49Speaker 6: you know, when you walk into these local places. You're
- 9:52Speaker 6: not getting anything comped. It's like, look, you're gonna get
- 9:55Speaker 6: what you get. You walk into like a long horn,
- 9:57Speaker 6: have a bad experience. They comping your meal.
- 9:59Speaker 5: They they gonna make sure you're good. The manager gonna
- 10:03Speaker 5: come out of the blue, out of nowhere and be like, hell, I.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Take care of this whole thing.
- 10:07Speaker 2: You know, I would say if anything from the gentleman
- 10:10Speaker 2: that came to the market, Keith Lee, it's the conversation now,
- 10:15Speaker 2: So hopefully I would we could see some better customer
- 10:17Speaker 2: service from all the rest, because you never know. That's
- 10:20Speaker 2: that's always my thing when I have bad customer service
- 10:22Speaker 2: at a restaurant, I just say this, Hey, you never
- 10:25Speaker 2: know who someone is that's coming in here to eat.
- 10:28Speaker 2: You never know who they can And that's what I
- 10:30Speaker 2: don't like, Ley is a you never know who this
- 10:33Speaker 2: person could be in your establishment.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Because that's what that's what I was thinking. I'm like,
- 10:38Speaker 5: I don't I don't like this whole narrative. If it's like,
- 10:42Speaker 5: you know, if somebody know they got a celebrity or
- 10:44Speaker 5: somebody coming in, why do they get treat better than
- 10:47Speaker 5: somebody that may eat here four times a month?
- 10:50Speaker 2: You know? This this celebrity.
- 10:52Speaker 5: They probably gonna come here twice a year, or you know,
- 10:55Speaker 5: next time, they might send their assistant or somebody grab
- 10:57Speaker 5: them some food. And Cardi b even she he said
- 11:00Speaker 5: something about it as well as like, Yo, I've had
- 11:02Speaker 5: to call.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And literally say Yo, this food is Drop.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I have to name Drop to get good customer services.
- 11:09Speaker 2: And that's bad. That's bad.
- 11:11Speaker 6: I mean, and it's crazy in Atlanta too. You got
- 11:13Speaker 6: random hours they open, they close. You know, it's crazy
- 11:18Speaker 6: to them on that.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Sometimes the food don't even be worth it. Man, It's
- 11:21Speaker 2: like yeah, because then yeah, then the order be wrong.
- 11:24Speaker 2: We don't even get we didn't even touch that. Oh
- 11:27Speaker 2: my gosh, the order could be completely wrong. You get
- 11:29Speaker 2: that ship and you be like, oh, I don't know.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Man, they got they got it, they got it. This
- 11:35Speaker 5: is a real problem, like they.
- 11:37Speaker 2: For the city. Though, this is a good wake up
- 11:39Speaker 2: call or at least some type of attention for I
- 11:42Speaker 2: believe some people, in my heart, I believe some people
- 11:44Speaker 2: will say, you know what, we gotta do better.
- 11:47Speaker 6: Guys know we do this especially and I know y'all
- 11:49Speaker 6: don't want to make it about black or white restaurants,
- 11:51Speaker 6: but a lot of these black establishments, you know you're
- 11:53Speaker 6: gonna get charged out the gate from the parking lot.
- 11:56Speaker 2: To the damn you know, food, especially downtown downtown restaurants.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You have to pay for parking anything downtown. If it's
- 12:03Speaker 2: a nice restaurant, you have to pay the park somewhere.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Man even get to the restaurant. But I do like the.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Places that have valets, and their valet is a complimentary Yeah,
- 12:14Speaker 5: so I forgot. I went to a place that was
- 12:17Speaker 5: like close to the airport and I've never been there before,
- 12:22Speaker 5: and I'm assuming that it was black owned because it
- 12:26Speaker 5: was a lot of black people working there.
- 12:27Speaker 2: But you know, you just.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Never know, right, But I got amazing customer service I'm
- 12:33Speaker 5: talking about from the valets, from walking in, from being greeted,
- 12:38Speaker 5: from sitting down, And it's like when you go to
- 12:41Speaker 5: places like that, that's why I'm like, I'm gonna tip
- 12:43Speaker 5: this person really well because you never know. And you know,
- 12:48Speaker 5: I never try to judge a place just on my
- 12:50Speaker 5: first initial visit, like if it's a bad experience, I
- 12:53Speaker 5: try to go back again to see the experience again.
- 12:56Speaker 5: But you know, that place, I was like, man, that's
- 12:57Speaker 5: how you should be treated everywhere.
- 12:59Speaker 8: You go.
- 13:00Speaker 6: I had to go look up the restaurant because I
- 13:01Speaker 6: just had this. I went, I got invited out to
- 13:04Speaker 6: a church. This not this past Sunday, but the Sunday before.
- 13:08Speaker 6: It was in Tucker, Georgia, and the place was called
- 13:13Speaker 6: Catch Kitchen. When I say terrible service, tear red bow
- 13:17Speaker 6: and I hate to say, it's a black on place.
- 13:21Speaker 6: And it was just terrible, Like you know, we sat
- 13:24Speaker 6: down the baby we had, you know, my friend baby
- 13:28Speaker 6: never got hurt. It never got his drink, you know,
- 13:31Speaker 6: to the to the end, and the waiters still charged
- 13:34Speaker 6: for the drink. My friend never got her right food.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Her husband's food was terrible. Had to ask for the manager.
- 13:41Speaker 6: The manager taking twenty days to come over. We saw
- 13:44Speaker 6: her over there having a conversation with the guy just
- 13:47Speaker 6: I guess trying to prepare, you know. Came back was like,
- 13:49Speaker 6: well he didn't try. He thought y'all wanted the drink
- 13:53Speaker 6: to go. Damn, that was the first thing we ordered.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Why would we wanted to go? Like what, didn't even
- 13:59Speaker 3: apologize for the for the waiters behavior.
- 14:02Speaker 2: They didn't care.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Gosha was terrible and I'm just like you and they
- 14:06Speaker 6: just I guess they just open, you know.
- 14:08Speaker 3: But it's just like it's it's still it was terrible.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Customer service should be at the highest of the high priority,
- 14:14Speaker 2: and any business customer service should be it.
- 14:18Speaker 5: But customer service, I want to even go even further
- 14:21Speaker 5: into saying customer service in Atlanta is not even just
- 14:26Speaker 5: the food the restaurants, it's the clubs too.
- 14:29Speaker 2: That is that's what, That's what.
- 14:31Speaker 5: But that's what I'm saying. It's like, the customer service
- 14:34Speaker 5: in Atlanta is terrible. It's I mean, even going to
- 14:39Speaker 5: a club to try to get into the club makes
- 14:41Speaker 5: you feel like you're like you're trying to go into
- 14:44Speaker 5: like a penitentiary or somewhere to even get in. By
- 14:47Speaker 5: the way these security guards treat people, you know, you
- 14:50Speaker 5: go the bottle girls walking around with rolexes on. They
- 14:53Speaker 5: think it ain't even got to serve the bottom the
- 14:56Speaker 5: club service.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Like you have the top tier clubs that are ran well,
- 14:59Speaker 2: then you have of your lower tier clubs where you know,
- 15:03Speaker 2: the customer service. Uh well, I don't have to be
- 15:06Speaker 2: lower hole in the wall clubs. It could be a
- 15:07Speaker 2: club that's not as big as the other clubs were.
- 15:11Speaker 2: As soon as you can just literally walk in a
- 15:13Speaker 2: section and have a section, and now a waitress or
- 15:16Speaker 2: waiter will have to come serve you. Majority of the
- 15:18Speaker 2: waitresses are majority of the servers are all women anyway,
- 15:22Speaker 2: I actually don't have never seen a male waitress a
- 15:25Speaker 2: male waiter in the club. They're all girls. Think about it.
- 15:29Speaker 2: So now the service, like how long does your how
- 15:32Speaker 2: long does it take for them to bring your bottles out?
- 15:35Speaker 4: Man?
- 15:36Speaker 2: Are they unite? Are they friendly? You know? Because some
- 15:40Speaker 2: of them, you make it seem like I will, I
- 15:43Speaker 2: know you, and I know you gotta tip me well,
- 15:45Speaker 2: and it's just a whole thing, like it's.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Speaking of tipping real quick.
- 15:50Speaker 6: Don't you hate it when like the gratuities already included
- 15:53Speaker 6: and then the people just act like an asshole?
- 15:55Speaker 2: Anyway, I don't like when the gratuities included and then
- 15:57Speaker 2: you want me to tip more, and then you don't
- 16:00Speaker 2: get mad if I don't tip additionally, like I see
- 16:03Speaker 2: the gratuity like I like, so now you already calculated
- 16:08Speaker 2: for me. That's right. Cool. But if you have a server,
- 16:11Speaker 2: if you have a bad.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Service and already included is what I'm saying.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Well, if the cortuities already included and I have a
- 16:17Speaker 2: bad server. I'm gonna I'm gonna say something to somebody.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I'm actually gonna complain. I've usually I've never really had
- 16:23Speaker 2: an issue with that. I've had an issue where it's
- 16:26Speaker 2: expected to me to do an additional tip. And that's
- 16:29Speaker 2: the problem I have, especially if the service was just subpart.
- 16:32Speaker 2: If the service was astronomically great, I may give you
- 16:36Speaker 2: cash as an additional tip. I don't know. But like
- 16:38Speaker 2: I said, I'm a good tipper because I know waiters
- 16:41Speaker 2: and waitresses don't make any money. I get it. No,
- 16:43Speaker 2: you think they don't make any money, Well, I know
- 16:47Speaker 2: that they don't make money. On slow nights they make zero.
- 16:50Speaker 2: And it's a lot more slow nights than big nights,
- 16:52Speaker 2: depending on who you work for and what club. You
- 16:55Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So it just depends. But yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 2: I don't you know. You know what I don't like.
- 16:59Speaker 5: I really don't like the fact that I feel like,
- 17:02Speaker 5: you know, in the city, you know, in Atlanta, I
- 17:05Speaker 5: feel like it's going towards more like you gotta be
- 17:09Speaker 5: somebody or know somebody to get great customer service. I
- 17:13Speaker 5: felt because anytime I've ever been places where like somebody
- 17:16Speaker 5: don't know me or don't recognize me, always get bad service.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It's like the weirdest shit ever.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Like I was in the club one time and I
- 17:24Speaker 5: had ordered something and the girl was just acting like nonchalant,
- 17:29Speaker 5: like she don't even work in the club, and you
- 17:31Speaker 5: know she's she's a bottle girl. And once she found
- 17:35Speaker 5: out who who I was, the service changed. Why does
- 17:40Speaker 5: a service change? Why does a service change when they
- 17:42Speaker 5: find out who you are? I don't understand.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I never understood.
- 17:45Speaker 3: That was Keith Lee's point.
- 17:46Speaker 6: He was like his family got told an hour and
- 17:48Speaker 6: a half way time, and then he came in five minutes.
- 17:51Speaker 3: We'll get you.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yeah, man, that that has that has a stop, and
- 17:54Speaker 2: that's that could be anywhere too. But it sucks. And
- 17:57Speaker 2: I'm kind of glad Keith Lee is highlighting things like
- 18:00Speaker 2: this because we can now see hopefully a change.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Hopefully. Man, that's what it is. Customer service this episode
- 18:09Speaker 3: before we.
- 18:10Speaker 5: This episode definitely needs to be customer customer service.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That's episode for show.
- 18:15Speaker 6: Before we get to our interview with LVR Injustice, y'all
- 18:19Speaker 6: want to hit him off with a little bit of
- 18:21Speaker 6: a players ball.
- 18:22Speaker 2: It is time for the players Ballou James Harden is
- 18:28Speaker 2: now officially a Los Angeles Clipper. He has been traded
- 18:33Speaker 2: him and from Philly. I can't believe seventy six ers
- 18:37Speaker 2: now they play for the Los Angeles Clippers. They're not
- 18:40Speaker 2: going to do good. I'm telling you. Kawhi Leonard does
- 18:42Speaker 2: not last a whole season. He always gets Paul George
- 18:47Speaker 2: doesn't either. Paul George. I'm a real big Paul George fan.
- 18:50Speaker 8: He's dope.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Russell Westbrook, he's dope to me. I just think he's
- 18:53Speaker 2: been having a bad.
- 18:54Speaker 5: So because you're not a Kawhi Leonard fan. You saying
- 18:57Speaker 5: that Leonard, but you're saying those guys are.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Gonna Kawhi Leonard always gets hurt bro and he did
- 19:03Speaker 2: a love guy too. He does not play an entire NBA.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I thought he's supposed to be a cyboard Apparently not
- 19:10Speaker 2: so James Harden. He's not going to be the Houston
- 19:14Speaker 2: James Harden guys. For people who think that you're here,
- 19:17Speaker 2: they're just getting a brand name. That's all they're getting.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Ye I do. I would hope to see something dope,
- 19:23Speaker 2: but I don't know. They were already a contender before
- 19:25Speaker 2: he got over there. Kawhi Leonard just caught hurt.
- 19:28Speaker 5: You know, you know, you know what I've been saying online,
- 19:30Speaker 5: everybody saying this team just looks good on paper, we
- 19:35Speaker 5: already know what it is because first of all, how
- 19:38Speaker 5: is Russell and James Harden?
- 19:42Speaker 2: Well, they really close. Who's but I'm saying, who's gonna
- 19:44Speaker 2: come off the bench? No, not neither one of them.
- 19:47Speaker 2: So you're telling me James, it's going to be Russell
- 19:50Speaker 2: Westbrook at point, James Harden at the two, Paul George
- 19:54Speaker 2: at the three, Kawhi Leonard at the four, and then
- 19:56Speaker 2: the center guy, whoever the center guy. So you're saying, PJ. Tug,
- 20:00Speaker 2: you don't think he's gonna start. Oh, he's not starting.
- 20:01Speaker 2: He's coming out of the bench. He's definitely not starting. Man.
- 20:04Speaker 5: I just don't think these teams would all these I
- 20:06Speaker 5: think I think the Denver Nuggets showed us that these
- 20:09Speaker 5: superstar teams with all these big megas stars that are
- 20:13Speaker 5: definitely not playing beating them. Yeah, I feel like I
- 20:15Speaker 5: feel like that doesn't matter anymore. And they just lost
- 20:18Speaker 5: to Lebron who's in his twenty first season. He dropped
- 20:21Speaker 5: thirty five points, twelve rebounds, seven sists.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Against the Clippers. James Harden didn't play, but yeah, I don't.
- 20:27Speaker 5: I don't think James Harden is gonna make a big difference.
- 20:30Speaker 5: And I was a huge James Harden fan when he
- 20:32Speaker 5: was playing in Houston because I never seen somebody. I
- 20:36Speaker 5: never seen one player play against five people. James Harden
- 20:39Speaker 5: would just do an ISO every play. He would doo anymore.
- 20:42Speaker 2: That's a rap. It's literally well, I haven't seen him
- 20:45Speaker 2: do that in a long time since he's been hoston
- 20:48Speaker 2: so us do.
- 20:49Speaker 5: You think do you think I know, I know we
- 20:51Speaker 5: probably gonna get some slack about this, But do you
- 20:53Speaker 5: think that that the seventy six ers are like cursed?
- 21:00Speaker 2: They had Jimmy since that they haven't won the championship
- 21:02Speaker 2: since Doctor Jay in the eighties, so that they.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Have, but think about all the superstars they've had. They
- 21:08Speaker 5: had Jimmy Butler, James Harden, Yeah, who else is they have?
- 21:13Speaker 2: Bed still there? And then Ben Simmons was just a
- 21:16Speaker 2: I forgot about Ben Simmons even played for them, and
- 21:19Speaker 2: he and you know, he's playing good in Brooklyn right now.
- 21:22Speaker 2: He hitting shots and all. Yeah, but I mean they
- 21:26Speaker 2: still not gonna do nothing. I'm upset for the Philly
- 21:29Speaker 2: fan base. However, the only thing that's cool about Philly
- 21:32Speaker 2: they're not tripping on the basketball team because the Eagles
- 21:35Speaker 2: are good. They're seven and one. They played the Dallas
- 21:37Speaker 2: Cowboys all this weekend. Cowboys are five and three. The
- 21:41Speaker 2: Eagles are seven and one. They only lost one game. Man,
- 21:44Speaker 2: you know you know who? I wonder.
- 21:46Speaker 5: I wonder where Aaron Donald is gonna go because they
- 21:49Speaker 5: saying the La rams Is and Talks have traded him.
- 21:52Speaker 5: I wonder where Derrick Henry is going. Uh, that's one
- 21:57Speaker 5: of my favorite players on Madden with the stiff.
- 22:00Speaker 2: So I said, man if he goes to Alvin Cook too,
- 22:02Speaker 2: because he's he's frustrated with the Jets and because they
- 22:05Speaker 2: haven't been using them. He was with Minnesota. Now the Raiders.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I don't know Adams not. Oh yeah, Devanta Adams. Yeah
- 22:13Speaker 2: he's upset. Yeah, they gotta get wasted. Did you see
- 22:16Speaker 2: the play when he was Jimmy Garoppolo over threw him.
- 22:21Speaker 8: Uh.
- 22:22Speaker 2: And then also shout out to the Texas Rangers they
- 22:24Speaker 2: won the World Series. Shout out Texas one time for them,
- 22:28Speaker 2: big big, big deal.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Everybody said, anybody but the Houston Astroids that's yeah, that's
- 22:33Speaker 5: best up.
- 22:34Speaker 2: People tired of them winning. I would say, you know,
- 22:38Speaker 2: they were very cocky. The team got baseball team is
- 22:41Speaker 2: just very arrogant. So yeah, and this is the first
- 22:43Speaker 2: in the Texas Rangers history of the franchise, the oh
- 22:46Speaker 2: Wild Series.
- 22:47Speaker 8: Ye.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, they about to make a lot the arias on
- 22:49Speaker 2: the Diamondbacks, who I don't even understood how they got there.
- 22:52Speaker 2: But I don't know too much about baseball. I don't
- 22:54Speaker 2: follow it that much. I just know my nephew plays
- 22:55Speaker 2: for the Washington Commanders. I mean the Cleveland Guardians. Dan
- 22:59Speaker 2: look at me to my football. The Cleveland Guardians. Tristan
- 23:03Speaker 2: mckensie is my blood nephew.
- 23:06Speaker 5: He and baseball your picture making that money.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Birthday's coming up.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Well, anyway, this was such a pleasant players ball friendly.
- 23:17Speaker 8: We did.
- 23:18Speaker 2: We didn't argue.
- 23:19Speaker 5: I didn't really argue about what's going on in sports
- 23:22Speaker 5: other than you know, I mean we kind of agree
- 23:25Speaker 5: with the same thing.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I agreed on everything.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Usually, yeah, usually this is real agree. This is this
- 23:31Speaker 2: is really rare.
- 23:32Speaker 5: We usually I think Denver is going back to the finals,
- 23:35Speaker 5: and I also think it's going to be Denver Nuggets,
- 23:38Speaker 5: and it's gonna be the Milwaukee Bucks.
- 23:40Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Another thing that we can agree on is Justice from
- 23:43Speaker 6: LVRN is here on the Barlar Alerts Show.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Will be right back here about to be dropping them gems.
- 23:47Speaker 3: We'll be right back y'all.
- 23:48Speaker 4: We will be right back with more of the Baller
- 23:50Speaker 4: Alert Show. You're listening to a specialist Bawler Alert Show.
- 24:01Speaker 8: You know what's going on is Justice, Justice Worre's cool
- 24:03Speaker 8: Pants here. I want you to do me a favorite.
- 24:06Speaker 8: Checkout this episode on ball Alert YouTube right now because
- 24:09Speaker 8: there's a lot there's a lot of gems, very insightful,
- 24:11Speaker 8: and we have a lot of fun.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Justice lv the building. Yes, what's up, sir?
- 24:19Speaker 8: I go by name of Justice aka Justice Worst cool Pants,
- 24:22Speaker 8: aka the Black Bobby Brown, even though Bobby Brown is
- 24:25Speaker 8: already black aka Brown with Dreds. I sent Peter Griffin.
- 24:31Speaker 8: But I mean, just like all jokes aside. I started
- 24:34Speaker 8: a company with my friends in two thousand and thirteen, fourteen.
- 24:38Speaker 8: We started a company named lv R in Love Renaissance.
- 24:41Speaker 8: We started as a management company, grew into a record label.
- 24:43Speaker 8: Now we're a record label management production you know, fully independent.
- 24:48Speaker 8: You know we I don't know they say we're valued
- 24:51Speaker 8: over like one hundred million dollars. But it's cool. You know,
- 24:53Speaker 8: life Lex Life Lex. Just you know, you just told
- 24:56Speaker 8: me to introduce myself.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, as you should.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Now this is the ball Alert show.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Now, how did you guys come up with the idea
- 25:03Speaker 6: to start this LVRN together?
- 25:06Speaker 8: To be honest, it wasn't an idea. It was kind
- 25:08Speaker 8: of like a passion, right. It was just like I
- 25:10Speaker 8: always loved music. Music. The culture of music drove me
- 25:15Speaker 8: to be who I am today, right Like music saved
- 25:17Speaker 8: my life, to be honest, you know what I'm saying,
- 25:18Speaker 8: Like hearing Kanye West for the first time, like just
- 25:21Speaker 8: made me believe in myself as a human. So you know,
- 25:24Speaker 8: all these different things are I feel like nurtured me
- 25:28Speaker 8: and pushed me into trying to understand because there's no
- 25:31Speaker 8: blueprint to get into music, right, no, like, oh go
- 25:34Speaker 8: apply here. I remember I used to apply a depth
- 25:36Speaker 8: jam for internships. Like that's you're never getting that right, Like,
- 25:40Speaker 8: you know, but I realized that, okay, cool, Like you
- 25:42Speaker 8: have to show your value. So I started when I
- 25:45Speaker 8: was leaving high school. You know, I just started managing artists.
- 25:47Speaker 8: I didn't really know what that meant. But you know,
- 25:49Speaker 8: all that being said, it kind of just continued to happen,
- 25:53Speaker 8: as like the growth happened. It wasn't really an idea, right,
- 25:56Speaker 8: who's the earlier artist that? I mean? You want the
- 26:00Speaker 8: ones that met that I might know you could tell
- 26:06Speaker 8: the ones that made it, okay. I mean the first
- 26:10Speaker 8: few artists that we started with that actually like kind
- 26:12Speaker 8: of got through the door was an artist named Rory.
- 26:15Speaker 8: He's from Atlanta. Actually, there was an artist named Q
- 26:18Speaker 8: who had the Ogi Bobby Johnson song. You know what
- 26:21Speaker 8: I'm saying. Like those are like the first few that like, okay,
- 26:24Speaker 8: like what's going on? And then you know, we started
- 26:26Speaker 8: to develop and kind of like hone in on our
- 26:29Speaker 8: niche a little bit more and you know, kind of
- 26:31Speaker 8: just define what it is that we're good at, you
- 26:33Speaker 8: know what I'm saying.
- 26:34Speaker 5: But so, who was the first artist that took off
- 26:37Speaker 5: for you guys?
- 26:38Speaker 8: Draw was the first one technically, dra Yeah, okay, I
- 26:42Speaker 8: almost the first one technically because Cha Cha was kind
- 26:45Speaker 8: of big, but like when Broccoli hit, that was a
- 26:49Speaker 8: whole different, you know, perspective. And then I want to say,
- 26:53Speaker 8: after that, we kind of pivoted into having like starting
- 26:57Speaker 8: our record label, and the first artist on the record
- 26:59Speaker 8: label that worked was Black. You know when we dropped
- 27:02Speaker 8: his first song problems.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Y'all struggle with the who or how? First of all,
- 27:09Speaker 2: I want to talk about Drama briefly real quick, like
- 27:12Speaker 2: how who found Drama? Like how did that happen?
- 27:15Speaker 8: Dram was my partner Tunday, you know what I'm saying.
- 27:19Speaker 8: He he was on a blog called Pictures and Planes.
- 27:22Speaker 8: Blogs were important at the time, and he saw this
- 27:27Speaker 8: EP that Drama had put out. He just had d
- 27:30Speaker 8: M him like, YO, like what are you doing. He's like,
- 27:32Speaker 8: I'm in Virginia. It's like cool, I'm gonna pull up
- 27:33Speaker 8: to and they put up the next day and Drum's like, yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 8: the fact that you flew into see Virginia. He didn't
- 27:38Speaker 8: have anything going on, YO, Like you would you guys
- 27:41Speaker 8: manage me? And that's kind of how it started.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Now who found Black?
- 27:44Speaker 8: For me? The beautiful thing about life is relationships. It's
- 27:48Speaker 8: one thing I learned very early, like you're only as
- 27:50Speaker 8: good as your relationships, and your relationships are gonna determine
- 27:54Speaker 8: if you're going to sustain or not. And all the
- 27:56Speaker 8: great things that have happened for me in life, it's
- 27:59Speaker 8: through friends. Like when something great has come, it's been
- 28:03Speaker 8: through a friend. And Black, you know, obviously he's talented,
- 28:07Speaker 8: but he was signed a flow rider, you know initially,
- 28:10Speaker 8: like I never knew that. Yeah, he was like spending
- 28:13Speaker 8: a lot of time in Miami or whatever. But you
- 28:15Speaker 8: know he had friends that were, you know, in the
- 28:17Speaker 8: city that we all knew, like you know, Trizzy Diamond,
- 28:20Speaker 8: they they you know, they did parties and like you're like, yo,
- 28:22Speaker 8: like our friend Black, you know, like he needs some help,
- 28:25Speaker 8: like can you figure it out? He sent the music.
- 28:28Speaker 8: I heard his tone and I'm just like, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 8: a tone like this is just one of those rare ones. So,
- 28:34Speaker 8: you know, we met him and you know it was instant.
- 28:37Speaker 8: It clicked, and we already knew what we had to do.
- 28:39Speaker 8: But we spent the whole year just developing before we
- 28:41Speaker 8: put any music out. We spent the whole year develop.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, which labels don't do that anymore.
- 28:48Speaker 8: So, so after that year was done, when we put
- 28:50Speaker 8: out the first record, it worked so real quick.
- 28:53Speaker 6: Just to go back, did you did you want to
- 28:57Speaker 6: do music at first?
- 28:58Speaker 3: Were you like into rap? Were you a singer?
- 29:00Speaker 8: Every good executive is a failed artist at one point
- 29:04Speaker 8: in time to try to wrap, try to do something.
- 29:09Speaker 8: But like again, it's just about knowing what you're good at.
- 29:11Speaker 8: Your passion doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be
- 29:15Speaker 8: the one that's on the mic. So you used to try,
- 29:17Speaker 8: So you used to wrap.
- 29:18Speaker 3: You know, like I think everybody used to want to.
- 29:20Speaker 8: Like I think I found some I found some some
- 29:22Speaker 8: videos on Facebook. You know what I'm saying. You try
- 29:24Speaker 8: and rap and ship, but like can I curse you? Yeah? Yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 8: but like yeah, but I realized immediately I was like, yo,
- 29:31Speaker 8: I hate this, like my I hate the way my voice.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Sounds, but you want to be a part of it
- 29:36Speaker 3: in some way.
- 29:36Speaker 8: Yeah, It's like my passion doesn't have to stop there, right,
- 29:40Speaker 8: So I think again, just like thinking, thinking back to
- 29:43Speaker 8: my eight year old self, my twelve year old self, Like, ya,
- 29:45Speaker 8: who are the people that I love? Like, you know,
- 29:47Speaker 8: I loved Russell, I loved Puffy, I loved you know, JD.
- 29:50Speaker 8: Like I loved all these people and like, oh, these
- 29:52Speaker 8: are entrepreneurs, like you know, and they make it look cool,
- 29:55Speaker 8: right because I also I also like the idea of
- 29:58Speaker 8: like making sure that things look fun and that's kind
- 30:01Speaker 8: of how I pivoted.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Was that the same case for your partner?
- 30:05Speaker 2: Who?
- 30:06Speaker 8: Well we have well how many of you guys is
- 30:09Speaker 8: for right? Four founders as four founders and we just
- 30:13Speaker 8: we just added a new partner, Amber, Amber Amber. But
- 30:19Speaker 8: what was your question?
- 30:20Speaker 2: Sorry?
- 30:20Speaker 3: Was that the same case?
- 30:21Speaker 6: Like, were you guys kind of like trying to do
- 30:23Speaker 6: your own thing and then you guys came together.
- 30:25Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, we we all went to the same
- 30:27Speaker 8: college when Georgia State, and everybody was kind of just
- 30:31Speaker 8: doing your own thing, and I think it was just
- 30:32Speaker 8: a mutual respect. But me, for me, like to be honest,
- 30:35Speaker 8: like it was kind of like a mastermind plan that
- 30:38Speaker 8: I had because I just knew that it took a village.
- 30:41Speaker 8: So like, you know, as I kind of started getting
- 30:43Speaker 8: rolling into it, I was like, Okay, cool, I need
- 30:45Speaker 8: the right partners to help create you know, like what
- 30:48Speaker 8: it is that I saw. But I just also like,
- 30:52Speaker 8: I'm very lucky, right the idea of like you know,
- 30:55Speaker 8: starting a company with your friends and having the same
- 30:57Speaker 8: vision is very hard to do and realize that it's
- 31:00Speaker 8: a fucking blessing, right, to be honest, So I'm very lucky,
- 31:04Speaker 8: But also you know, I was very intentional too.
- 31:06Speaker 6: You know, so you had the idea for LVRN initially, right,
- 31:10Speaker 6: did you come up with the name or did you
- 31:12Speaker 6: get with you your friends and then.
- 31:13Speaker 3: They came in?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:14Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I did came up with the name. Yeah yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 8: I mean, I mean it was a concept that I
- 31:18Speaker 8: started my college dorm room.
- 31:21Speaker 3: So how did you pick who you wanted to be
- 31:23Speaker 3: a part of this?
- 31:24Speaker 8: I mean, my partners? It was just organic. Again. It
- 31:27Speaker 8: was just kind of one of those things where I
- 31:29Speaker 8: just spent my time building relationships with people. Like I'm
- 31:32Speaker 8: just people person, right, and like I'm genuine about my approach,
- 31:35Speaker 8: you know, like I don't think we're all perfect. But
- 31:37Speaker 8: like I met Carlin, you know what I'm saying who
- 31:41Speaker 8: he did flyers for selfish NT was like a promo team,
- 31:45Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying on on campus and I'm like, yo,
- 31:47Speaker 8: you do flyers? Like I need somebody's you know that
- 31:50Speaker 8: can do artwork that's creative, And he was like, okay, cool.
- 31:53Speaker 8: We just spent time and as we spend time, I
- 31:56Speaker 8: got I learned to I learned to know him deeper. Right,
- 31:58Speaker 8: I'm like, oh, you're actually talent to from from beyond
- 32:01Speaker 8: just doing flyers, So like, would you just come, you know,
- 32:04Speaker 8: help me? And he did, saying with you know, Sean
- 32:08Speaker 8: saying with tune the It was just like I have
- 32:10Speaker 8: a I have a gift of getting people to believe
- 32:12Speaker 8: in my ideas, and I think it just kind of
- 32:15Speaker 8: happened that way, just organically.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Question, Yeah, was there any intent by saying Okay, I
- 32:22Speaker 2: wanted to work for said record label, but I couldn't
- 32:25Speaker 2: get the opportunity.
- 32:26Speaker 8: So I made an opportunity myself. I wanted to work
- 32:27Speaker 8: for death Jam really bad. I remember to the point
- 32:30Speaker 8: to where like I was lying to artists that I
- 32:33Speaker 8: wanted to like them, give me a chance to management. Like, yo,
- 32:36Speaker 8: you know I used to work for Depth Jam. I
- 32:37Speaker 8: used an intern for Depth Jam. I used to say
- 32:39Speaker 8: he used an intern for Depth Jam. I never did,
- 32:41Speaker 8: but like you know what I'm saying. But like again,
- 32:44Speaker 8: you know, like I said, Russell was like a huge
- 32:47Speaker 8: you know, you know, staple in terms of people that
- 32:49Speaker 8: I looked at, and like he obviously created that Jam.
- 32:51Speaker 8: I just thought it was such an iconic label. So yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 8: I mean I just yeah.
- 32:56Speaker 6: I mean, so you guys start LVRN. You got your partners.
- 33:01Speaker 6: You know, what was the plan? How did you guys?
- 33:03Speaker 6: You know, what was the plan? To make money?
- 33:05Speaker 8: Again, It's never been about the money for me, to
- 33:07Speaker 8: be honest, And I think for I can say that
- 33:09Speaker 8: for all my partners, for me, because I believe that
- 33:12Speaker 8: being great at what you do money it's just a
- 33:14Speaker 8: byproduct of excellence.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:16Speaker 8: So I just spent majority of my time just really
- 33:20Speaker 8: spending and doing the education and trying to understand why
- 33:23Speaker 8: certain artists work, why certain artists don't, Why do I
- 33:26Speaker 8: love certain artists? What are the common denominators? And really
- 33:29Speaker 8: just strengthening my skill there, right, And everybody, I guess
- 33:33Speaker 8: was strengthening their skill at whatever it is that they did.
- 33:36Speaker 8: And the time in the line that we found the
- 33:38Speaker 8: right artists and we just poured all of our you know,
- 33:41Speaker 8: energy and resource in at ten thousand hours into the
- 33:43Speaker 8: into these artists. And that's the difference, right, Like nobody
- 33:47Speaker 8: had any money. I mean, we had some sacrifices like
- 33:50Speaker 8: I had to sell my car to shoot the music video.
- 33:52Speaker 8: You know, Carling had to sell all his you know shoes.
- 33:55Speaker 8: Sean had to borrow some money from like a weird
- 33:57Speaker 8: NFL player that he knew. I don't know. It's a
- 33:59Speaker 8: lot of weird shit, but you know, just had to
- 34:01Speaker 8: do what we had to do, right, Like there is
- 34:03Speaker 8: no magical you know, there's a drug and I think
- 34:07Speaker 8: you know what's what's interesting too. I think that that's
- 34:09Speaker 8: what makes our company really unique and our story really unique,
- 34:12Speaker 8: is we didn't come from the street per se, right,
- 34:16Speaker 8: So like you know, like gaining the respect of the
- 34:20Speaker 8: no to riot on the street has been a little
- 34:22Speaker 8: bit of a challenge because it's like, oh, like I
- 34:25Speaker 8: don't know him from like you know, selling drugs or
- 34:28Speaker 8: like doing that. You know what I'm saying, Like, that's
- 34:29Speaker 8: not our background. So we're you know, inner city, you know,
- 34:34Speaker 8: educated black kids, right, and it's that so it's our
- 34:38Speaker 8: Our angle has been completely different. So no, it's not
- 34:41Speaker 8: like Rockefeller, but you know it's from the same perspective
- 34:44Speaker 8: of just like you know, grinding, like doing doing what
- 34:48Speaker 8: you love.
- 34:48Speaker 6: The concept of independence versus you know, signing on with somebody.
- 34:53Speaker 8: I mean, you need partnerships, right, I think partnerships allow
- 34:55Speaker 8: you to elevate. Partnerships allow you to expand your your reach.
- 34:59Speaker 8: But the spirit is the spirit, the spirit of entrepreneurship
- 35:03Speaker 8: the spirit of creating something with people that you love.
- 35:06Speaker 8: There's nothing better than making money with people that you love.
- 35:10Speaker 2: I like the way you articulated your soliloquy in my
- 35:15Speaker 2: TI voice. What does that word mean?
- 35:19Speaker 8: A paragraph? Like?
- 35:20Speaker 5: I have you talked about it?
- 35:22Speaker 2: So anyway, I was going to say, where where do
- 35:25Speaker 2: we input Summer Walker?
- 35:26Speaker 8: So I shout out to DJ also okay one time
- 35:31Speaker 8: also and also me and her got really cool and
- 35:37Speaker 8: also had a roommate named summer Walker. I got you.
- 35:43Speaker 8: So she had a roommate named somemer Walker, not the artist.
- 35:46Speaker 8: Her name happens to be summer Walker. Summer Walker. She
- 35:50Speaker 8: is a talented visual artist, right, and that was her roommate.
- 35:57Speaker 8: And she had all these like cool you know projects
- 35:59Speaker 8: she was working on or whatever whatever. And in that time,
- 36:03Speaker 8: we got a building that was our first building. We
- 36:06Speaker 8: got a building, and we were working on building a studio.
- 36:08Speaker 8: And I asked someone, I'm like, yo, like would you
- 36:12Speaker 8: come and help me build the studio, like manage the
- 36:14Speaker 8: studio and like really like do all the art and
- 36:16Speaker 8: all that stuff in there? Because I really thought she
- 36:18Speaker 8: was she was dope. And she said yeah, So she
- 36:21Speaker 8: came and we built a relationship for like a year
- 36:24Speaker 8: and it was great, and you know, she was taking
- 36:27Speaker 8: care of the studio, offered her full time job managing
- 36:29Speaker 8: the studio, and like it was great. And like a
- 36:32Speaker 8: year later, she's liked, yo, like, I've been working on
- 36:33Speaker 8: something or I have my eye on something for a while.
- 36:36Speaker 8: I think it would be great here. I'm like, what
- 36:37Speaker 8: is this. She's like, well, once the time, I was
- 36:39Speaker 8: googling myself and her because her name was some Walking.
- 36:43Speaker 8: This girl name is, I'm Walker, and I think she's dope,
- 36:45Speaker 8: and she showed it to me. I'm like, she's dope.
- 36:47Speaker 8: And obviously that was how that happened. I mean, you
- 36:53Speaker 8: call it easier alignment.
- 36:55Speaker 2: That was an that was very aligned.
- 36:56Speaker 5: So she googled her name yeah, and the artist some
- 36:59Speaker 5: Walker came yeah, and then you and then okay, So
- 37:03Speaker 5: what happens?
- 37:04Speaker 8: So she shows me the artist, I meet Summer for
- 37:07Speaker 8: the first time. She brings Summer and I meet Somemmer
- 37:09Speaker 8: for the first time. Meeting was awful because she didn't
- 37:12Speaker 8: speak very own brand. But again, she had a guitar
- 37:20Speaker 8: and she had a face tattoo and I'm like, I've
- 37:22Speaker 8: never seen this before. This makes sense. Hmm, that was it.
- 37:26Speaker 8: I'm like, I'm signing her, So.
- 37:29Speaker 3: What was the development stage of Summer Walker.
- 37:32Speaker 8: Summer is one of those rare artists, to be honest,
- 37:35Speaker 8: she's one of those very rare artists that like it
- 37:38Speaker 8: was just written for her. Like I always tell I'm like, yo,
- 37:41Speaker 8: You're so lucky because she didn't have to go through
- 37:44Speaker 8: the hardships of like artists that like get to a
- 37:46Speaker 8: label trying to get them to understand they're trying to
- 37:49Speaker 8: get them to see it. And it's not like she
- 37:51Speaker 8: got popular before she signed to a label either, right,
- 37:54Speaker 8: So it's just like, but she just happened to just
- 37:57Speaker 8: be aligned in that weird situation. And for her, she
- 38:02Speaker 8: just had all these incredible stories because she's a great
- 38:04Speaker 8: songwriter and it's her voice is just one of those
- 38:08Speaker 8: and for her, it was just just giving her the
- 38:11Speaker 8: space and let her do what she does and then
- 38:13Speaker 8: she'll write her songs and she'll come back to us
- 38:15Speaker 8: and I'll just like, you know, like kind of like
- 38:19Speaker 8: go through the better ones, you know, add some suggestions
- 38:22Speaker 8: here and there. But man, her development process actually for
- 38:25Speaker 8: Summer starts now, which is like getting outside of the
- 38:28Speaker 8: concept of the bedroom but when it came to the music,
- 38:31Speaker 8: Like the music, she didn't need any development. She's just
- 38:35Speaker 8: special like that.
- 38:36Speaker 3: How did you guys as a label help her?
- 38:39Speaker 6: You know when she was because she declined probably a
- 38:42Speaker 6: lot because she didn't want to go out, and you
- 38:45Speaker 6: know she's very introverted, and with the award shows and
- 38:49Speaker 6: being in so many appearances, how did that affect you
- 38:54Speaker 6: guys when she didn't want to do certain things?
- 38:57Speaker 8: I was stressed. I was stressed. I mean, I'm I mean, no,
- 39:00Speaker 8: now she's a lot better, but I was stressed. I
- 39:03Speaker 8: mean because I'd never seen it before. But also, like
- 39:06Speaker 8: I think that for me, the best part about being
- 39:09Speaker 8: an executive is understanding your artists and making things that
- 39:14Speaker 8: is true to them palatable to the world, right. And
- 39:17Speaker 8: I think that for her understanding that she didn't want
- 39:20Speaker 8: to do interviews or whatever it was, it made sense
- 39:24Speaker 8: because she felt like she said it all in her music.
- 39:26Speaker 8: She's like, there's nothing else I need to say to anybody.
- 39:29Speaker 8: If you really want the answers or have the questions
- 39:31Speaker 8: that you want to know about me, listen to my music.
- 39:34Speaker 8: And that was that was the perspective. And like I said, luckily,
- 39:38Speaker 8: I just feel like that it was just written for
- 39:39Speaker 8: her because people just connected with her music so much,
- 39:43Speaker 8: all the other stuff didn't really matter as much, right.
- 39:46Speaker 5: So you were like, you you ruined my relationships because
- 39:49Speaker 5: you won't go do anything outside.
- 39:53Speaker 8: But like if you stay hot, that is very cool,
- 39:57Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying. But no, I mean, like
- 39:59Speaker 8: I just took be honest, like I would love to
- 40:01Speaker 8: take a lot of credit for you know, Summer and like,
- 40:03Speaker 8: you know, but I just do believe that she's just
- 40:06Speaker 8: one of those talents. It's just one of those generational
- 40:08Speaker 8: talents where its it's like, Okay, you know, I think
- 40:10Speaker 8: the only thing that's in Summer's way is Summer, and
- 40:13Speaker 8: I think that's the development. That's where we are today,
- 40:16Speaker 8: where it's like trying to get past, you know, all
- 40:18Speaker 8: of the things that she technically wouldn't normally do just
- 40:22Speaker 8: to expand and grow her reach.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Her personality is starting to come out now you're seeing
- 40:26Speaker 5: it more like on the internet, and I know you
- 40:28Speaker 5: kind of like rooting for that because you know, you
- 40:31Speaker 5: wanted to continue being you know, a star and continue
- 40:34Speaker 5: growing and stuff like that. What was some of the challenges,
- 40:38Speaker 5: you know, sign to somebody like like summer.
- 40:41Speaker 8: The challenges, I mean, the challenges every day. I mean,
- 40:46Speaker 8: you know that's like my little sister. But like at
- 40:48Speaker 8: the end of the day, you know, it's funny, right,
- 40:52Speaker 8: And again, this is how you know you have a
- 40:53Speaker 8: great artist or a special artist. You know. Me and
- 40:55Speaker 8: some will have conversations and she's just like, yah, some
- 40:58Speaker 8: why'd you make that decision? Like why did you do that?
- 41:01Speaker 8: Like why did you, you know, date that guy? You
- 41:02Speaker 8: know what I'm saying. Like it's like I really be
- 41:04Speaker 8: like trying to understand her perspective, and she's just like
- 41:08Speaker 8: I need something to write about, damn. And I was
- 41:12Speaker 8: just like, oh, like you are an artist, you like
- 41:17Speaker 8: you live vicariously through your arts. It's like, yeah, it's
- 41:19Speaker 8: my diary. Right. So it's just like trying to trying
- 41:22Speaker 8: to manage an artist or trying to like keep an
- 41:25Speaker 8: artist from not like going off the deep end, but
- 41:28Speaker 8: still like doing what they need to do to get
- 41:32Speaker 8: their material. Is that's the hard part, right because like
- 41:34Speaker 8: at the end of the day, like you know, all
- 41:36Speaker 8: a lot of great artists had music, and that's just
- 41:39Speaker 8: kind of how she looks at it, right, And she
- 41:42Speaker 8: lives unapologetically, which is interesting question.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, what are some things that you had to
- 41:49Speaker 2: endure or overcome because I know it went all Was
- 41:53Speaker 2: it all positive?
- 41:54Speaker 8: No? I mean, I mean it's mental health issues, you
- 41:57Speaker 8: know what I'm saying. There's you know, not one to tour,
- 42:02Speaker 8: you know, like not wanting to do all these things
- 42:04Speaker 8: that are important in the actual business, right you know,
- 42:07Speaker 8: there's actually growing your company, your employees. Like, Bro, my
- 42:11Speaker 8: life's hard, like really really hard. But I can't complain
- 42:15Speaker 8: because I think that's the joy of what it is
- 42:18Speaker 8: that I do. Problem solving, like really like creating a
- 42:21Speaker 8: new way or new way of thinking. So, you know,
- 42:24Speaker 8: like our challenges, I mean, you know, getting getting the answer. No,
- 42:28Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying, Like, just like everybody else,
- 42:30Speaker 8: you know, our challenges are cool. Like the music industry,
- 42:33Speaker 8: You're also only as good as your next record, you
- 42:35Speaker 8: know what I'm saying. So you have a record out
- 42:36Speaker 8: or you don't have a record out, then it's like, oh,
- 42:38Speaker 8: you're falling off. Like like bro, it's it's tough, you
- 42:41Speaker 8: know what I'm saying. So trying to figure out how
- 42:43Speaker 8: to you know, balance and maneuver and also like just
- 42:46Speaker 8: stay on your path. I think I think a huge
- 42:48Speaker 8: part of my growing and my my my my up
- 42:51Speaker 8: and coming in this business is me starting to compare
- 42:54Speaker 8: my success to other people. And I'm just like, oh
- 42:58Speaker 8: that that's gonna like you're gonna start I make decisions
- 43:00Speaker 8: that actually aren't even authentically you. And that's the biggest
- 43:03Speaker 8: mistake that I feel like, you know, I've made at
- 43:06Speaker 8: certain points in my career, and I'm just like, bro
- 43:08Speaker 8: to be honest, like, what's meant for you? It is
- 43:11Speaker 8: meant for you in the right timing, you know what
- 43:13Speaker 8: I'm saying.
- 43:14Speaker 4: We'll be right back with more of The Baller Alert Show.

- 43:40Speaker 8: personal life look like? I'm just on the road for
- 43:43Speaker 8: myself at this flame.
- 43:44Speaker 3: You're trying to get something outside now, I ain't got time.
- 43:47Speaker 2: You don't have time, you don't have time for it.
- 43:49Speaker 8: No, I you know, for me, Like how I look
- 43:52Speaker 8: at my personal life again. I look at my personal
- 43:54Speaker 8: life and say away, I look the I look at
- 43:55Speaker 8: my career life. Right, It's just like if I'm going
- 43:57Speaker 8: to do something, I want to put my everything into it, right,
- 44:00Speaker 8: and you know, to be to be a boyfriend, to
- 44:04Speaker 8: be a husband, or to be you know, a father.
- 44:07Speaker 8: I feel like it takes intention what I realized after
- 44:11Speaker 8: like trying find a balance. I'm like, yo, like, it's
- 44:14Speaker 8: just it's not the reality of where I am in
- 44:17Speaker 8: my passion and where I am in my you know
- 44:19Speaker 8: what I'm saying my space. I'm like, yo, like, I'm
- 44:21Speaker 8: just going to do what I love. And it's okay
- 44:24Speaker 8: because every seven years, you know, you change consciousness. Your
- 44:28Speaker 8: consciousness shifts every seven years, so like after that seven
- 44:31Speaker 8: I might have a different feeling and then I go
- 44:34Speaker 8: into maybe being a father.
- 44:36Speaker 6: Did you grow up with that with intentive parents or
- 44:40Speaker 6: both parents in the household, Like, like you're saying you
- 44:42Speaker 6: want to be intentional about you know, growing and developing
- 44:46Speaker 6: a child or nurturing a relationship. Did you grow up
- 44:49Speaker 6: seeing it like.
- 44:49Speaker 8: I want to be a stay home dad. To be honest, like.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Like, oh man, you're the wrong business.
- 44:55Speaker 8: Well, That's what my goal right now, and it could change,
- 44:59Speaker 8: but if you ask me today, my goal right now
- 45:01Speaker 8: is like you know, I'm thirty one now, you know,
- 45:03Speaker 8: by forty to be retired. You know what I'm saying.
- 45:07Speaker 3: So yeah, you're working your way to that, to your
- 45:09Speaker 3: goal of being from.
- 45:10Speaker 8: Working since I was seventeen thirty one. It's a long time.
- 45:15Speaker 2: That is a long time.
- 45:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 45:17Speaker 5: Now you guys, you guys at one point was partner
- 45:20Speaker 5: with Interscope.
- 45:21Speaker 8: Right, yeah, yeah, South End Scope. I mean was that
- 45:25Speaker 8: your first one? That was your first partnership with the
- 45:27Speaker 8: major one ship?
- 45:29Speaker 3: Look like is that distribution all?
- 45:30Speaker 8: Is the joint adventure? So you know when we have
- 45:33Speaker 8: when we when we first signed Black Again and like
- 45:35Speaker 8: the record took off, we ended up doing a joint
- 45:39Speaker 8: venture with Interscope Again. They were like our fifty to
- 45:41Speaker 8: fifty partner. You know, we did all the marketing, promoting,
- 45:44Speaker 8: signing the artists.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Yeah it was the money, okay, so fifty fifty.
- 45:49Speaker 5: Okay, So what happened with Interscope?
- 45:51Speaker 2: I know?
- 45:52Speaker 8: Youthing, I just think that like again, as you evolve
- 45:56Speaker 8: and as the business changes and as you get success,
- 45:59Speaker 8: things just start to look there. You start to understand,
- 46:01Speaker 8: you know, like we have our own building that we
- 46:04Speaker 8: that we bought and very nice by the way, thank
- 46:06Speaker 8: you check it out. I'm sure we have about twenty
- 46:09Speaker 8: six employees.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Like we're like, so you said, I got pretty much
- 46:13Speaker 2: I gotta treat I got treated like I was at
- 46:14Speaker 2: Chick fil a.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Oh we should did it my pleasure.
- 46:19Speaker 5: At the point, you was pretty much like, we don't
- 46:22Speaker 5: really need and yeah.
- 46:24Speaker 8: I just think I just think we're at the point
- 46:25Speaker 8: where we we are. We are our business has matured
- 46:29Speaker 8: to a point to where now we have to start
- 46:31Speaker 8: to focus on our business and you know, making the
- 46:36Speaker 8: margins make a little bit more sense.
- 46:38Speaker 6: Are you independent completely right? But does Innerscope own the
- 46:43Speaker 6: previous Summer albums?
- 46:45Speaker 8: Of course, yeah, we're partners on that.
- 46:46Speaker 6: Okay, but going forward, if she were to drop a
- 46:49Speaker 6: new project, it would be owned by you guys.
- 46:51Speaker 8: No, Summer Summer Summer is still with Innerscope and lb R. Okay,
- 46:55Speaker 8: the whole venture as a whole, it's just independent.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That's that's smart.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Yeah, OK dude, how do you Okay, so, how do
- 47:03Speaker 5: you guys prioritize.
- 47:06Speaker 2: The artists or who y'all want to put out?
- 47:08Speaker 5: Let's say if Black wants to put out an album
- 47:12Speaker 5: and Summer is ready to drop, do y'all kind of
- 47:16Speaker 5: have to decide, okay.
- 47:18Speaker 8: You want to play off?
- 47:18Speaker 5: Mean who to put the market a dollar stoward.
- 47:22Speaker 8: Luckily we've never had that issue because R and B
- 47:26Speaker 8: Niggas is slow, so it works that way, you know
- 47:31Speaker 8: what I'm saying. But if it, if it came to it,
- 47:33Speaker 8: I think I think we have to look at the plan.
- 47:35Speaker 8: We have to look at the plan. It's not about
- 47:37Speaker 8: the music. It's not about you know, the money or whatever.
- 47:39Speaker 8: We have to look at the plan. Who already has
- 47:42Speaker 8: majority of things locked in stone? The music is one thing,
- 47:44Speaker 8: but like there's a whole thing that's around, right, Like
- 47:47Speaker 8: sometimes timing might even make sense, right, Like, you know,
- 47:50Speaker 8: if you're in the middle of a fucking breakup, it
- 47:52Speaker 8: might just be prigent at that point. You know what
- 47:54Speaker 8: I'm saying. You know what I'm saying, if you ever
- 47:55Speaker 8: to already routed, like you know, all those things, I
- 47:58Speaker 8: think we have to look at in totality, you know
- 48:00Speaker 8: what I'm saying.
- 48:00Speaker 6: So going back real quick to the breakdown of LVR
- 48:03Speaker 6: and and Interscope are all of you will all of
- 48:05Speaker 6: your artists be that way of signed to one label
- 48:09Speaker 6: and then and then your label as well.
- 48:12Speaker 8: Like no, so moving forward, like I said, this is
- 48:14Speaker 8: just we're completely independent where it's just like every artist
- 48:16Speaker 8: like that we signed from here on.
- 48:18Speaker 3: Out will just be solely yours.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Because I know Baby Taits on there and she has
- 48:23Speaker 2: a partnership with Warren Warner.
- 48:25Speaker 8: Yeah, but Baby Taits she's a management client. She's a
- 48:27Speaker 8: management client. You know, our business is comprising three. So
- 48:31Speaker 8: you have management, management, label, label and what publishing publishing
- 48:36Speaker 8: and now we're starting a TV and film department. Yeah,
- 48:38Speaker 8: because you were telling me off camera thinking about doing
- 48:40Speaker 8: the little podcast room.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all doing it big.
- 48:43Speaker 5: Now I got a question, So, now is Division actually
- 48:47Speaker 5: signed to you guys or.
- 48:49Speaker 8: Is that management client client? So it was Division signed
- 48:52Speaker 8: to the sign to oo oh.
- 48:58Speaker 3: So you're kind of like Rock Nation.
- 48:59Speaker 6: You guys have all these different departments under one umbrella.
- 49:03Speaker 6: So they cover management, uh, like you said, publishing. They
- 49:08Speaker 6: also have sports though, but you guys, you know, want
- 49:11Speaker 6: to have the TV part.
- 49:12Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm trying to venture into sports any sports ages
- 49:14Speaker 8: out there.
- 49:16Speaker 2: So basically it's an umbrella and then under the umbrella
- 49:18Speaker 2: we have different departments that yeah, okay, now does do
- 49:22Speaker 2: you manage the specific department? Does toune they do in
- 49:25Speaker 2: specific department? Amber?
- 49:26Speaker 8: Like, man, I mean I think that's like the that's
- 49:29Speaker 8: the growing pains, right, It's just like that's why we
- 49:32Speaker 8: have so many staff members because you have to separate
- 49:36Speaker 8: the work. I think that, like you know where we
- 49:39Speaker 8: are now, we just oversee and really just help and
- 49:42Speaker 8: develop our talent that's coming up. You know what I'm saying,
- 49:45Speaker 8: Like our people that work for us, you know what
- 49:47Speaker 8: I'm saying. So and also just like hiring the capable people.
- 49:52Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying, Like if you want to
- 49:53Speaker 8: build a new department, to call me back a capable person,
- 49:56Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying. So it's it's it's hard, man.
- 50:00Speaker 8: Like you know. The crazy thing about about what we're
- 50:04Speaker 8: doing is, you know, you have a lot of friends
- 50:06Speaker 8: that you grew up with and you try to give
- 50:07Speaker 8: them opportunities and it's just always fails. Always. It's heartbreaking,
- 50:14Speaker 8: you know, yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Because you probably got a lot of friends that were
- 50:18Speaker 5: friends with you in college and probably seeing you guys
- 50:21Speaker 5: success and like.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Hey, man, give me a job.
- 50:24Speaker 3: So how do you say no.
- 50:25Speaker 8: How do I say no? Oh, I say no. If
- 50:27Speaker 8: you get to know me, I'm a little bit I'm
- 50:29Speaker 8: very directed.
- 50:30Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, he was a little asshole.
- 50:32Speaker 8: Yeah yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 6: For anybody watching this, you know who may be in
- 50:37Speaker 6: your shoes in college, Like, man, this is my path,
- 50:40Speaker 6: I want to take it.
- 50:40Speaker 3: What is your advice for that person?
- 50:44Speaker 8: My advice for that person? Well, Number one, follow me
- 50:47Speaker 8: on Instagram. I give advice every day. Number what's your Instagram? Justice?
- 50:52Speaker 8: Where's cool pants? Number two, I will say, spend majority
- 50:59Speaker 8: of the time understanding your craft better than anybody else
- 51:03Speaker 8: around you. I think people really underestimate the importance of
- 51:07Speaker 8: the education of whatever it is that you're doing. And
- 51:09Speaker 8: education is not even in the perspective of just like
- 51:12Speaker 8: I have to read some books, you know what I'm saying,
- 51:14Speaker 8: But a lot of it also have to do with experience. Right,
- 51:17Speaker 8: just start it right. You're going to learn a lot
- 51:20Speaker 8: from failing. And I think that people are scared to fail.
- 51:23Speaker 8: But I'm like, no, the trick about failing is just
- 51:25Speaker 8: like fail fast. You know what I'm saying. You don't
- 51:27Speaker 8: want to take six years failing super slow and tumbling
- 51:31Speaker 8: Like nah, bro, just go ahead and get that shit
- 51:33Speaker 8: over with in like twelve months. You'll learn a lot
- 51:35Speaker 8: and you'll know what not to do and make the
- 51:37Speaker 8: shit better. So like for me, I think that's that's
- 51:40Speaker 8: the starting point. And the second part about it is
- 51:42Speaker 8: just like really just priding yourself and surrounding yourself with
- 51:46Speaker 8: people that have things to actually benefit you and whatever
- 51:49Speaker 8: it is you're doing, because I really realized that majority
- 51:52Speaker 8: of people's downfall is based on who they surround themselves with.
- 51:56Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying, Like, see who I came with.
- 51:58Speaker 8: I came with one of the smartest people I know, Like,
- 52:00Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying. I met him maybe like
- 52:02Speaker 8: six months ago. Who's that shout to able? He's a
- 52:06Speaker 8: designer base based out of Atlanta, and he's he's incredible.
- 52:10Speaker 8: So what does he do? He's a designer design everything everything,
- 52:15Speaker 8: album covers and album covers, architecture.
- 52:20Speaker 2: He's gonna make you some money.
- 52:23Speaker 8: No he didn't. I just met him six months ago,
- 52:25Speaker 8: but I just you know, that's my guy. Now, you
- 52:27Speaker 8: got you have to just keep people that like that
- 52:31Speaker 8: mean well in your life. And I feel like people
- 52:34Speaker 8: people get so attached to, you know, relationships that were
- 52:39Speaker 8: and not understanding that that was supposed to last for
- 52:42Speaker 8: a certain period of time. Now where you're going, your
- 52:45Speaker 8: life has to reflect who's around you.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Yeah, So any new potential artists that you have coming.
- 52:52Speaker 8: Up, I mean we have we have a few new
- 52:54Speaker 8: artists that I'm really excited about. Shout to the artists
- 52:57Speaker 8: named sad Boy, Shout the artists Namedyana kill me. But yeah,
- 53:04Speaker 8: we have.
- 53:04Speaker 2: We have a lot of artists.
- 53:07Speaker 9: Someone will be mad, you forget just how that was
- 53:11Speaker 9: Goe's you know what I'm saying, Like we have, you
- 53:14Speaker 9: have some ne artists that we're working with and just
- 53:16Speaker 9: just trying to help them out, you know what I'm saying,
- 53:17Speaker 9: and trying to help their dreams come true.
- 53:19Speaker 8: Just don't waste my time and money and money.
- 53:23Speaker 3: But you never know until you get into it, you.
- 53:26Speaker 8: Know, you know pretty fast, Yeah, from like from from
- 53:30Speaker 8: what I'm realizing now, you learn to know pretty fast
- 53:33Speaker 8: if artist is going to make it or not. You know,
- 53:35Speaker 8: Like Drake had this line, you know where he said
- 53:37Speaker 8: once you know, like you got it, you got it.
- 53:40Speaker 8: The theory is brilliant, and I realized that like recently,
- 53:44Speaker 8: I'm like, it's actually very simple. The common denominator and
- 53:46Speaker 8: all the stress for artists are there. You just have
- 53:48Speaker 8: to pay attention to it and over time and artists
- 53:50Speaker 8: will reveal themselves if they actually like meant to be,
- 53:53Speaker 8: you know, a star a star or not, because anybody
- 53:56Speaker 8: can be an artist. I think it's really just are
- 53:58Speaker 8: you going to be big?
- 53:59Speaker 2: How do you know? Though?
- 54:00Speaker 8: What's what's like the main sign signs become specific ingredients.
- 54:05Speaker 8: It's in tangibles, right, So like I can explain to
- 54:07Speaker 8: you some of like the tangible ones, but some some
- 54:10Speaker 8: of the other surface intangible, but like some of the
- 54:12Speaker 8: tangible ones is just like again having like a like
- 54:17Speaker 8: a vision, right, Like I think that people come to
- 54:20Speaker 8: you say they make music, but it's like, yeah, music
- 54:22Speaker 8: is one thing, but like you're now your product, right,
- 54:25Speaker 8: it's too much too many artists around, too much music around.
- 54:29Speaker 8: You have to look at yourself as a product and
- 54:31Speaker 8: being a product, you have to have a vision, right,
- 54:34Speaker 8: Like Nike's not just gonna throw shoes on the on
- 54:36Speaker 8: the shelf, like they have a vision. We're gonna sign athletes,
- 54:39Speaker 8: We're gonna do Jordan, you know what I'm saying that, Like,
- 54:41Speaker 8: you have a vision. And I think that a lot
- 54:43Speaker 8: of artists don't understand. They just want to be famous,
- 54:45Speaker 8: They just want to put out music. But they don't
- 54:47Speaker 8: have a vision. They don't, they don't, they don't want to.
- 54:48Speaker 8: They don't even know what the show is supposed to
- 54:50Speaker 8: look like. They don't know what color palette they're gonna have.
- 54:52Speaker 8: They don't they not even know what they're wearing. I
- 54:54Speaker 8: even know what their friends gonna look like on camera.
- 54:56Speaker 8: Like all that's part of a vision. You have to
- 54:59Speaker 8: envision yourself of being where you see yourself being. And
- 55:03Speaker 8: if you don't have that, nine times out of ten,
- 55:06Speaker 8: you're probably not gonna make it unless you just happened
- 55:08Speaker 8: to be special, which is once every six years you
- 55:12Speaker 8: find one of those.
- 55:13Speaker 3: And it depends on what you define as big.
- 55:15Speaker 6: That's relative, you know how big you want to go,
- 55:18Speaker 6: because there's different levels big. And I say, you never
- 55:22Speaker 6: know what an artist is really going to be, because
- 55:24Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure you couldn't anticipate Summer not wanting to
- 55:28Speaker 6: tour or not wanting to do interviews when you first
- 55:30Speaker 6: signed her.
- 55:31Speaker 8: No, I know it was part of her vision, That's
- 55:33Speaker 8: what I'm saying. Like she had a vision, her vision
- 55:35Speaker 8: just wasn't like the average vision, but her vision was like, Yo,
- 55:39Speaker 8: I'm gonna make music and I'm gonna slott it under
- 55:41Speaker 8: the door. Y'all niggas put it out and let me know.
- 55:45Speaker 3: And you guys were, and y'all cool with that, right.
- 55:47Speaker 8: I'm cool with that because again you have to understand.
- 55:51Speaker 3: If even though that came with a lot of music.
- 55:53Speaker 8: The music reflected that vision. Like the music felt felt intimate,
- 56:01Speaker 8: the music felt to yourself, the music felt dark, you
- 56:04Speaker 8: know what I'm saying. Like, all that made sense with
- 56:07Speaker 8: her presentation for the artists.
- 56:08Speaker 6: But as far as the label, the business of it,
- 56:11Speaker 6: you know, like you said.
- 56:12Speaker 3: You had a lot of stressful days, Yeah, because we're
- 56:15Speaker 3: here to.
- 56:15Speaker 8: Service the artists. To be completely honest, the record label
- 56:18Speaker 8: is here to service artist. Yes, it's a business, so
- 56:19Speaker 8: we had to make money. But like, but the sole
- 56:22Speaker 8: function of a record labels to service the artist and
- 56:25Speaker 8: get the artists to as many people as we can
- 56:29Speaker 8: get them to, right, and get people to like their
- 56:31Speaker 8: music and buy into them. That's what the sole purpose
- 56:34Speaker 8: of a record label is. So the artist. If the
- 56:37Speaker 8: artist is the CEO of their business, right, their business,
- 56:41Speaker 8: and they don't have a vision, where does that put
- 56:44Speaker 8: anybody at nowhere. We're just spending money throwing it at
- 56:47Speaker 8: the wall.
- 56:48Speaker 3: So you know, alady sounds good?
- 56:52Speaker 8: Well, Justice, Where's cool Pants? Y'all know what I mean?
- 56:55Speaker 2: What pans you got on today?
