- 2:39Speaker 6: into the show now, Former Charles to Mayor Danny Jones,
- 2:42Speaker 6: how are you man?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Watch the Kentucky Derby. You a Derby guy?
- 2:46Speaker 3: I am not.
- 2:48Speaker 6: I don't know really a whole lot about it, but
- 2:51Speaker 6: it's kind of a tradition. Like every year my wife
- 2:53Speaker 6: and I watch it. You know, we pick a horse
- 2:55Speaker 6: and neither one of us did. Uh well, I went
- 2:58Speaker 6: with the.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Journalism, which was the favorite, and uh that that one
- 3:04Speaker 4: didn't win, but hers didn't either, So.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Wonder what the odds was? We're on the on the
- 3:09Speaker 3: one that won.
- 3:10Speaker 6: I don't know. I have to look that up. I'll
- 3:13Speaker 6: try to do that here momentarily. But anyway, then, so
- 3:17Speaker 6: you I would have thought you would have been a
- 3:19Speaker 6: Derby guy, Danny. You just kind of look like a
- 3:21Speaker 6: guy that would Have you ever been to the Derby?
- 3:24Speaker 3: I like to I like to put my money down,
- 3:27Speaker 3: but I don't know. I don't know bet on that.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I remember in the seventies, what was the name of
- 3:33Speaker 3: the horse, that one that first triple crown secretariat? Yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 3: and then they had another horse year or two later
- 3:40Speaker 3: named Seattle Flew uh huh. Yeah. And the reason I
- 3:45Speaker 3: know that because we made bits out of it at
- 3:47Speaker 3: the bar that I was working at and later owned.
- 3:51Speaker 3: We'd have a Saturday afternoon we'd make a bit out
- 3:56Speaker 3: of it, you know, and give away sandwiches or something
- 4:00Speaker 3: and let people buy their own whiskey. Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Nine to one were the odds on sovereignty in the winter. Wow,
- 4:11Speaker 4: nine to one. Just looked it up there.
- 4:13Speaker 6: So yesterday I thought of you, and we'll get into
- 4:17Speaker 6: some other stuff a little bit later. The news shows
- 4:19Speaker 6: were depressing me a little bit yesterday, and we'll get
- 4:21Speaker 6: into that a little bit later on. So I flipped
- 4:23Speaker 6: over to the antenna network, the rerun channel as one
- 4:27Speaker 6: of them is, as I call it. They were doing
- 4:29Speaker 6: an All in the Family marathon yesterday and at one
- 4:33Speaker 6: point I laughed so hard I was almost crying. And
- 4:38Speaker 6: what a great show on that show?
- 4:40Speaker 3: Now? Oh no, no, no, you know that it's on
- 4:43Speaker 3: Amazon Prime.
- 4:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 6: One of the interesting things about All in the Family,
- 4:48Speaker 6: if you ever do, I'm a geek when it comes
- 4:51Speaker 6: to my favorite TV shows or movies. I want to
- 4:53Speaker 6: know every possible thing about it, and I've done a
- 4:54Speaker 6: lot of reading about it.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Of course, it was a breakoutthead as soon as it
- 4:57Speaker 4: came out of the gate for CBS in the early
- 4:59Speaker 4: nineteen vities.
- 5:01Speaker 8: Uh.
- 5:01Speaker 6: But Norman Lear, the creator of the show, actually, at
- 5:05Speaker 6: one point, you know, it was meant to bring up
- 5:08Speaker 6: serious issues. But in later interviews, Norman Lear talked about
- 5:13Speaker 6: that some people saw Archie Bunker as a hero and
- 5:16Speaker 6: that was not his intention at all, and he was
- 5:19Speaker 6: quite bothered by that because but it's kind of like
- 5:22Speaker 6: it's kind of like, you know, going back to my
- 5:24Speaker 6: old wrestling days, you know, you when you make the
- 5:27Speaker 6: bad guys really really cool, people like them no matter
- 5:29Speaker 6: what they do. And it's kind of the way it
- 5:31Speaker 6: was with Archie.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and Norman liberal is very very liberal go in
- 5:35Speaker 3: and so he would have not liked that character. But
- 5:40Speaker 3: Archie was was also very liberal.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 3: And the real person, he's the exact opposite of that.
- 5:49Speaker 6: And Rob Reiner is extremely if you follow Rob Reiner
- 5:53Speaker 6: on Twitter on x Man, yeah, he is extremely liberal.
- 5:57Speaker 6: I mean even to this day, he's very active on
- 5:59Speaker 6: social media, very.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Very liberal, hard left, hard left.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Well, most people in Hollywood are.
- 6:04Speaker 6: And and that's why I think one of the reasons
- 6:07Speaker 6: why you if you saw an interview with Trump, he
- 6:10Speaker 6: said he wants to start having movies made in America again,
- 6:15Speaker 6: and he wants them brought back, and he's gonna put
- 6:18Speaker 6: like a huge tariff on any movie that's made outside
- 6:23Speaker 6: of America, and a lot of people the thinking behind that, Danny,
- 6:26Speaker 6: a lot of people think is he wants he wants
- 6:30Speaker 6: to take a shot at the movie industry in general
- 6:33Speaker 6: because of their their liberal bias.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Reel or perceived.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Well on Bill Maher when he had he was interviewing
- 6:40Speaker 3: Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom says he needs to do something
- 6:45Speaker 3: to bring him back to California because they've left California
- 6:49Speaker 3: and they've moved to Atlanta, and Texas is one of
- 6:52Speaker 3: the hotspots, and that's because the tax breaks.
- 6:56Speaker 6: So well, and those states, I mean, now, not Atlanta
- 7:00Speaker 6: so much. I mean, George is an interesting state politically
- 7:03Speaker 6: because it is a When you're in the metro areas,
- 7:06Speaker 6: specifically in Atlanta, it tends to be more liberal. But
- 7:09Speaker 6: when you get into you know, there's well it is
- 7:13Speaker 6: and there's a but there's a lot.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Of rural Georgia that you know.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Very very not so liberal, very red, very red.
- 7:19Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Again.
- 7:21Speaker 6: A text here says a day the Day, the Trump
- 7:24Speaker 6: take of the day. Don't know if he has to
- 7:28Speaker 6: uphold the Constitution to rename veterans date of Victory Day,
- 7:30Speaker 6: This is a joke, not real.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Jo, it's real, it's real.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's got no business doing that.
- 7:37Speaker 4: So what do you think is the reason behind him?
- 7:38Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know what his breathing is
- 7:41Speaker 3: with anything but latest being Alcatraz. But but he he
- 7:48Speaker 3: needs to leave that kind of stuff alone to veterans,
- 7:52Speaker 3: not not to him who isn't a veteran.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Well, I mean that's one of the major.
- 8:00Speaker 6: Issues that I have with with Donald Trump, and it
- 8:03Speaker 6: didn't matter whether he was President Trump or not. And again,
- 8:06Speaker 6: I'm a son of a veteran, and to me, you
- 8:09Speaker 6: haven't earned the right to say anything about veterans. And
- 8:13Speaker 6: to be fair, I might have said the same thing
- 8:14Speaker 6: about Bill Clinton too, you know, so you haven't.
- 8:17Speaker 4: You haven't earned the right to be able. I did
- 8:19Speaker 4: do these things.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I did say. I was on the air then, and
- 8:23Speaker 3: everybody called Clinton a draft dodger, But he's no more
- 8:27Speaker 3: a draft dodger than the man you have now.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I would agree with that bone Spurs, Captain bone Spurs,
- 8:34Speaker 4: as he's been called you.
- 8:36Speaker 6: And walking down here from the office this morning, you
- 8:39Speaker 6: said something about Alcatraz. You wanted to talk about Alcatraz,
- 8:41Speaker 6: and in the Danny Jones style, you said, I've been there.
- 8:45Speaker 6: I know a lot about it, almost like you served there.
- 8:47Speaker 6: Let me just point out the record. You did not
- 8:49Speaker 6: serve in Alcatraz, right, No, I.
- 8:51Speaker 3: But I've visited several several times, and I've visited when
- 8:55Speaker 3: only two hundred people a day were going over and
- 8:58Speaker 3: now there's a million people year. Alcatraz makes a lot
- 9:01Speaker 3: of money. And if you turn it back into prison,
- 9:05Speaker 3: you're going to lose a lot of money.
- 9:06Speaker 4: It's a tourist spot.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And it was closed in March of nineteen sixty three
- 9:13Speaker 3: by Robert F. Kennedy Senior because it cost too much
- 9:19Speaker 3: to the foundation was crumbling. Then imagine what it's like now.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And in nineteen seventy the Indians took it over and
- 9:30Speaker 3: they stayed there for one year or maybe year and
- 9:33Speaker 3: a half and lived there, and then finally Nixon said
- 9:37Speaker 3: they got to go. He let him stay there, but
- 9:39Speaker 3: finally he said they had to go, but that the
- 9:42Speaker 3: warden had a big house there and they burned it up.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It's just now a shell of a house. But there
- 9:48Speaker 3: was one young guy there that named people may recognize
- 9:52Speaker 3: Benjamin Bratt, law and order guy, David Julia Roberts. You
- 9:58Speaker 3: know I'm talking about. He was a little kid and
- 10:02Speaker 3: he lived on Alcatraz for a while.
- 10:06Speaker 6: What do you think about the idea of Is it's
- 10:08Speaker 6: just more Trump, you know, throwing things out there to
- 10:10Speaker 6: see what sticks that's not actually gonna happen, or.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Well, I mean, he's the man in charge, but it's
- 10:16Speaker 3: financially it'd be ridiculous to do that first thing Alcatraz
- 10:24Speaker 3: wasn't the worst prison to stay in, It just happened
- 10:27Speaker 3: to be one you couldn't escape from. That was the
- 10:29Speaker 3: whole idea behind it. Each sells nine by five. You
- 10:33Speaker 3: get a cell by yourself, so you got forty five
- 10:37Speaker 3: square feet in there, and you got to go outside
- 10:40Speaker 3: a lot. And because they didn't want you to get
- 10:44Speaker 3: used to cold water, they had you take you had
- 10:48Speaker 3: lots of hot water for showers.
- 10:51Speaker 4: That's interesting.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I didn't know that they did. And they didn't want
- 10:54Speaker 3: you fighting over food, so they made sure you had
- 10:57Speaker 3: good foods. They didn't want to start any food fights
- 11:00Speaker 3: in there. So a lot of people, a lot of prisons,
- 11:04Speaker 3: they might revolt over food. Well they didn't at Alcatraz
- 11:07Speaker 3: because they had good food. The last menu, by the way,
- 11:10Speaker 3: for breakfast is up on the wall. I don't remember,
- 11:14Speaker 3: but it was still there when I was there. And
- 11:19Speaker 3: the cells still close and open, and you still got
- 11:23Speaker 3: the three cells that were broken out of and you've
- 11:27Speaker 3: got the hole where the into the ventilations that in
- 11:35Speaker 3: the back of the cell that was taken out, and
- 11:39Speaker 3: they'll show you where those cells are. But outside in
- 11:42Speaker 3: the yard is where you could go spend time and
- 11:48Speaker 3: Alcatraz was not a bad prison to be in. I
- 11:50Speaker 3: mean a lot of worst prison. The worst prison to
- 11:53Speaker 3: be in the day is Florida Florence, Colorado. Ad X
- 11:57Speaker 3: is absolutely.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Awful, and I think I saw a documentary on that.
- 12:05Speaker 3: At one point, you have a cell inside of a cell.
- 12:09Speaker 3: In other words, you open a big steel door to
- 12:13Speaker 3: get to the bars, and you get to go out
- 12:18Speaker 3: in this little outside room which you don't get to
- 12:25Speaker 3: see outside. You just get to see the sky and
- 12:28Speaker 3: it's concrete and you get to walk around there, play
- 12:33Speaker 3: handball by yourself, or do it, do whatever you do,
- 12:36Speaker 3: but you do a cavity search before you go, and
- 12:39Speaker 3: a cavity search when you're on when you come back,
- 12:43Speaker 3: and the worst of the worst are out there. Ramsey
- 12:48Speaker 3: useless out there. Sammy Gravano was there for seven years
- 12:53Speaker 3: and I heard he described it, and uh, you got
- 12:58Speaker 3: a little black and white TV in there, teenage with headphones.
- 13:02Speaker 3: You got your own shower because they don't want you
- 13:06Speaker 3: to leave in the room. You're stuck in the room
- 13:08Speaker 3: twenty twenty three hours a day unless you want to
- 13:13Speaker 3: go outside. If they let you go outside.

- 16:06Speaker 6: dodging and sex scandals opened the barn door. Now no
- 16:09Speaker 6: one cares, since it's been done and ignored back then, Danny, your.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Thoughts, well, I don't think it was ignored. He got
- 16:16Speaker 3: he got impeached, and he took quite a bit of
- 16:19Speaker 3: heat for being for being a draft Dodger.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that was a major theme of the
- 16:23Speaker 4: ninety two campaign.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Well even afterwards, it was people couldn't believe he got elected,
- 16:28Speaker 3: and then because he dethroned a war hero and uh,
- 16:35Speaker 3: and then he ran against another war hero and beat him,
- 16:39Speaker 3: Bob Dole. So you know, I mean, maybe that maybe
- 16:45Speaker 3: the texta is correct. Maybe people don't care about that
- 16:48Speaker 3: kind of stuff.
- 16:48Speaker 6: I mean, there was a I was thinking about this
- 16:51Speaker 6: the other day, some of the things, whether you like
- 16:54Speaker 6: Trump or not, some of the things that he has
- 16:56Speaker 6: said and done.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Thirty forty years ago.
- 17:01Speaker 6: I mean, I cannot imagine you know, a president of
- 17:05Speaker 6: doing behaving in that way. But you also not to
- 17:08Speaker 6: play amateur psychologists here, Danny. It's a totally different time.
- 17:11Speaker 6: I mean, and everybody lives on social media now. Everybody
- 17:15Speaker 6: plays a character. You know, your social media persona is
- 17:19Speaker 6: not nine times out of ten year real life persona.
- 17:21Speaker 6: It's things that you project that you want out there.
- 17:24Speaker 6: And we just keep coming up with more. I know,
- 17:26Speaker 6: I sound like the old guy here, but we just
- 17:29Speaker 6: keep coming up with more and more outrageous stuff.
- 17:32Speaker 4: And Trump Trump. To me, Trump is just a sign
- 17:35Speaker 4: of the times.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And he has redefined the courses of the language with vulgarity. Yeah,
- 17:42Speaker 3: I mean he is. I mean, I'm can be vulgar,
- 17:46Speaker 3: but trying to make it private.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Well, there's time and place, Danny.
- 17:50Speaker 3: You know time and place, and but he doesn't in public.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And everybody I was thinking about when Corey Booker did
- 17:58Speaker 3: that speech twenty five.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Hours, who was that for himself?
- 18:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and he wants to be president. And you've got
- 18:07Speaker 3: Chris van Holland, who wants that photo op with that
- 18:13Speaker 3: white beater down there in El Salvador. I mean what,
- 18:18Speaker 3: I don't think that's gonna work out so well, they're
- 18:20Speaker 3: finding out more about that guy, but everybody's looking for
- 18:28Speaker 3: a bite that old people latch onto, like Jasmine Crockett,
- 18:33Speaker 3: for instance, And sometimes it works in their favor and
- 18:39Speaker 3: sometimes it doesn't. Yeah, sometimes you remember it for the
- 18:43Speaker 3: right reason, and sometimes you remember it for the wrong.
- 18:46Speaker 6: But it's like the old adage, any press is good press,
- 18:49Speaker 6: and as long as they're talking about you. That's the
- 18:52Speaker 6: modern mindset of a lot of political figures. It used
- 18:56Speaker 6: to be that was confined primarily primarily let's say, athletes
- 18:59Speaker 6: or be musicians, But now you gotta I mean that
- 19:04Speaker 6: in order to make it on the national front. There's
- 19:07Speaker 6: got to be a story, there's got to be a
- 19:09Speaker 6: buzz about you. That's just that's just where we are
- 19:12Speaker 6: as a society now, Dan.
- 19:13Speaker 3: And I look at this thing, and of course we're
- 19:16Speaker 3: four years away. But Democrats don't have anybody, you know,
- 19:21Speaker 3: I mean, not personally like Josh Shapiro of the governor
- 19:23Speaker 3: of Pennsylvania. If they nominated him, be the first Democrat
- 19:26Speaker 3: I ever voted for for president.
- 19:28Speaker 4: But what is about Shapiro that you liked to it?
- 19:30Speaker 4: Because you told me that before?
- 19:31Speaker 3: What is it common sense? Okay, he's the real deal.
- 19:34Speaker 4: And look I said this on the show before. I
- 19:35Speaker 4: thank you, and I even said it.
- 19:37Speaker 6: I watch a lot of as you do, a lot
- 19:39Speaker 6: of you know, Sunday morning shows, Bill Maher, so On
- 19:41Speaker 6: and so and so forth until the National Democratic Party.
- 19:46Speaker 6: And I love Donna Brazil. I don't always agree with
- 19:48Speaker 6: Donna Brazil, but I enjoy She's very entertaining, she's very good.
- 19:51Speaker 6: I watch her, you know, every Sunday morning on the
- 19:54Speaker 6: This Week's Show with Stephan Novelis. Until the National Democratic
- 19:58Speaker 6: Party stands up and says no to some of this lunacy.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Then they're not going anywhere.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Well.
- 20:06Speaker 6: Trump may be the worst, Trump may be the worst
- 20:08Speaker 6: person in history. However he's going to win. He's gonna
- 20:12Speaker 6: I mean, if if you if the if the election
- 20:14Speaker 6: were to be held today, even with his thirty percent
- 20:17Speaker 6: approval rating, lowest approval rating first one hundred days of
- 20:20Speaker 6: any president history, he'd win again.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Well, Carvil's got some sense. And Donald Brazil I think
- 20:28Speaker 3: she had some sense. I introduced myself to her Atlanta Airport, really,
- 20:32Speaker 3: and she's a great, big woman. She's tall and uh.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I told her I was the mayor of Charleston, West
- 20:39Speaker 3: Virginia state capital. And she says, well, were you in
- 20:43Speaker 3: the service like that? And I said, yeah, I was
- 20:46Speaker 3: in the Marine Corps. I went to Vietnam. Well, thank
- 20:48Speaker 3: you for your sir. And I read her book and
- 20:54Speaker 3: she's a man's woman. She likes to drink Scotch. Yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 3: and she she she'd be fun to hang out with.
- 21:01Speaker 6: I think, look, if if I had to hang out
- 21:03Speaker 6: with somebody that's on that panel that I watch every
- 21:06Speaker 6: it'd be it's not going to be ranch previous.
- 21:08Speaker 4: I can tell you that.
- 21:09Speaker 14: No.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Donovan feels a lot of fun. She's a nice person.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I wanted to ask you something we talked a
- 21:15Speaker 6: little bit about this doing the break has to do
- 21:17Speaker 6: with downtown Charleston and this future proposed Capital Sports complex sooks.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Fact, the federal.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Funding UH needed is not going to come through. So
- 21:25Speaker 6: the project, according to County commission President Bensolanga, who we
- 21:28Speaker 6: had on the show last week, the project is on hold.
- 21:31Speaker 6: Do you have any any opinions on that, because I think,
- 21:34Speaker 6: as you know, being may as long as you were,
- 21:35Speaker 6: you could see the economic impact that that thing could have.
- 21:38Speaker 3: It'd be great. I'm just very sorry that people, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 3: they confront me with it. People confront me with things,
- 21:49Speaker 3: and they were they going to get the money. I
- 21:53Speaker 3: hope they probably had it lined up before they had
- 21:55Speaker 3: their press Combe.
- 21:56Speaker 6: Well, he's blaming Washington right now, is what the Commissioner
- 21:58Speaker 6: Silango's saying, because the and and Senator Shelley Moore Capito
- 22:03Speaker 6: has has really been instrumental in trying to get this
- 22:05Speaker 6: deal done. But the budget didn't go through that they wanted,
- 22:08Speaker 6: and so they're with the money. He's not saying, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 6: as he pointed out the show last week, Danny, he's
- 22:12Speaker 6: not saying that the project is dead. But right now
- 22:16Speaker 6: it's just on hold.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Well, what if they're going to take twenty thousand dollars
- 22:20Speaker 3: from a nonprofit in Jackson County, how are we going
- 22:24Speaker 3: to get seven million dollars?
- 22:25Speaker 4: This is the Doge cuts you're talking about.
- 22:28Speaker 6: Yeah, we had we had the lady that was a
- 22:29Speaker 6: director of that group on the show, on the Metro
- 22:31Speaker 6: News midday show.
- 22:32Speaker 3: The point is, if we haven't gotten it by now,
- 22:36Speaker 3: I mean I'm not I'm not optimistic. I don't know.
- 22:40Speaker 3: I hope I'm wrong. But what do she have to wait?
- 22:44Speaker 3: And seeing the mayor be on here.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Yeah, she'll be on here about ten minutes or so.
- 22:51Speaker 4: I'm gonna read a text to you here, Danny. All right,
- 22:53Speaker 4: I'm just gonna read it, all right.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Nice of you to bring back these sex abuser apologists.
- 22:58Speaker 6: Why is Danny Jones afraid to alienate Trump weirdos? I mean,
- 23:01Speaker 6: what more can you do to say that you're not
- 23:04Speaker 6: a Donald Trump person?
- 23:06Speaker 3: I don't get that.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Well, I mean, this person's obviously misinformed because I've never
- 23:11Speaker 6: heard you. I don't know that I've heard you say
- 23:13Speaker 6: anything good about Donald Trump.
- 23:14Speaker 3: The only thing I can tell people to do is
- 23:17Speaker 3: to google mayor Danny Jones and go to my Wikipedia
- 23:20Speaker 3: page and explains all about my feelings about Donald Trump.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I left the Republican Party because you got nominated. And
- 23:29Speaker 3: I don't hate him. I'm not one of those that
- 23:32Speaker 3: doesn't want him to succeed. But I didn't vote for him,
- 23:38Speaker 3: never have. The last three national elections, I voted for
- 23:42Speaker 3: a libertarian candidate.
- 23:46Speaker 6: So Texas, nice of you. You to both sides fascism.
- 23:51Speaker 6: Democrats are so extreme that I have no choice but
- 23:54Speaker 6: to support the January sixth attack on the Capitol.
- 23:57Speaker 4: You two make me sick. We make this person sick, Danny.
- 24:01Speaker 6: I mean, has this person never heard what I've said
- 24:02Speaker 6: about January sixth? I mean I didn't say I was
- 24:06Speaker 6: that I was voting for Donald Trump. I didn't vote
- 24:08Speaker 6: for Donald Trump last time. I did in twenty sixteen,
- 24:11Speaker 6: but I didn't last time what I said if they
- 24:13Speaker 6: person wanted to, you know, to listen. I mean, I
- 24:16Speaker 6: made my points on January sixth clear. I left the
- 24:19Speaker 6: Republican Party because of January sixth. I mean, what the
- 24:22Speaker 6: hell else can I do?
- 24:24Speaker 3: I read Cassie Hutchinson's The Book. I read Liz Cheney's
- 24:28Speaker 3: book several times. I read Jonathan Carl who wrote another
- 24:34Speaker 3: book called Tired of Winning, about that whole thing. And
- 24:39Speaker 3: I've never read a book that thinks January sixth was
- 24:43Speaker 3: a good idea, because I don't think there is such
- 24:45Speaker 3: a book out there.
- 24:47Speaker 4: But there were patriots, though, Danny.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Well, patriots don't do damage to the Capitol.
- 24:55Speaker 6: But then you go down all of these rabbit holes
- 24:59Speaker 6: of the The police were in on it, the FBI
- 25:02Speaker 6: was in on it. I watched it. I told the
- 25:04Speaker 6: story before I watched it in real time. I was
- 25:06Speaker 6: watching it on c SPAN when it happened without any
- 25:09Speaker 6: kind of commentary. I watched it because I just had
- 25:11Speaker 6: a feeling something was going to happen. I watched it
- 25:13Speaker 6: in real time and what I saw horrified me. And
- 25:16Speaker 6: before somebody decides to text in and say, well, what
- 25:20Speaker 6: did you think about the when when when the BLM
- 25:23Speaker 6: was burning down Inner City, I thought that was terrible too. Yeah,
- 25:26Speaker 6: two things can be right at the same time.
- 25:28Speaker 3: That wasn't orchestrated by the president, right, right, right. And
- 25:35Speaker 3: Liz Chang's book It's Juicy, she describes it as it
- 25:41Speaker 3: happened in real time on the floor of the house,
- 25:44Speaker 3: and she was back there writing her speech, and her
- 25:47Speaker 3: dad called her and when Trump was having his rally
- 25:51Speaker 3: out on the ellipse, and she said, he said, Dick
- 25:55Speaker 3: Cheniott asked, Liz said, are you watching television? She said, no,
- 25:59Speaker 3: I'm writing my speech. She said, he just mentioned journal
- 26:02Speaker 3: your name, and I think your life may be in danger,
- 26:05Speaker 3: you know. And she stayed there and she got into
- 26:08Speaker 3: it with Jim Jordan and some of the others because
- 26:15Speaker 3: she said, you all started all this, and you know
- 26:18Speaker 3: who really orchestrated all of it, the lawsuit and everything. Well,
- 26:24Speaker 3: the speaker now and he was not even known then.
- 26:28Speaker 4: What's the name is Tim john Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Speaker Johnson, the Republican speaker. He wasn't even known. His
- 26:38Speaker 3: office was right next to Liz changed and they were friends.
- 26:43Speaker 3: But he's the one that wrote the brief and to
- 26:47Speaker 3: challenge the election, and now he's a speaker. And but
- 26:55Speaker 3: it's it's a bookworth well. I wouldn't think if you.
- 26:59Speaker 6: Have read Mike Johnson, I said, town And I said, Tim,
- 27:02Speaker 6: Mike Johnson.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Sorry, Mike Johnson.
- 27:04Speaker 6: Uh, Tex says you apparently have never suffered bone spurs.
- 27:08Speaker 6: My husband has dealt with him for years and it
- 27:10Speaker 6: pains him to wear shoes. Don't ridicule or mock that
- 27:12Speaker 6: that you personally.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Well, let me just mention that about bone spurs. Then
- 27:16Speaker 3: how how was he able to march in military school? Okay,
- 27:23Speaker 3: ask asking the wrong person. He marched right down Pennsylvania
- 27:26Speaker 3: Avenue in the militaria school. Trump did, so, may we
- 27:31Speaker 3: have good days and bad days?
- 27:32Speaker 4: Like they say?
- 27:33Speaker 6: No, and he and he certainly doesn't affect his golf
- 27:36Speaker 6: game any because he plays golf every weekend. It's it's ridiculous, uh,
- 27:41Speaker 6: Tex said, wondering how Cecil Roberts feels about Trump.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Now, well, he probably feels the same way he did
- 27:46Speaker 4: prior to the election.
- 27:46Speaker 3: He's never voted, He's I would I would suggest you
- 27:49Speaker 3: that Cecil Roberts's probably never even voted for republic.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Tex says, you all didn't vote for Donald Trump. But
- 27:58Speaker 6: we have a two party system, so not Votvoting for
- 28:00Speaker 6: one major party is essentially a vote for the other
- 28:02Speaker 6: third party. Voters and non voters are just as complicit
- 28:05Speaker 6: as Magas and Republicans in getting Trump elected.
- 28:07Speaker 3: That's not true.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Why is it not true?
- 28:10Speaker 3: It's a protest vote. I remember when little guy from
- 28:16Speaker 3: Texas in ninety two, broh he kept Trump from He
- 28:20Speaker 3: kept President Bushman being reelected. And in nineteen sixty eight
- 28:26Speaker 3: George Wallace got ten million votes, which was thirteen percent,
- 28:31Speaker 3: and that affected that election. It may have hurt Humphrey,
- 28:38Speaker 3: It may have hurt Nixon. We don't know, but it
- 28:41Speaker 3: effected ten million votes. If it's three percent of the votes,
- 28:45Speaker 3: which wasn't it was three percent in two thy sixteen.
- 28:51Speaker 3: If it's three percent, that's a three percent that can
- 28:54Speaker 3: make a difference to somebody if they can capture you know,
- 28:57Speaker 3: Trump went in front of the Libertarians try to get
- 29:00Speaker 3: their vote, and he was not successful at all. Didn't
- 29:04Speaker 3: go over very well.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Well, Danny, before we let you go, important stuff. How's
- 29:07Speaker 4: the dog doing?
- 29:10Speaker 3: Very exciting for an old man. I've got a new
- 29:13Speaker 3: little Cavalier King Crow Spaniel. And we fell asleep on
- 29:18Speaker 3: my couch before we came over here, before I came
- 29:21Speaker 3: over here, right, all right, And it's quite a deal
- 29:25Speaker 3: for a guy like me to have a little dog
- 29:27Speaker 3: like that.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Always a pleasure to have you on the show, my friend.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Thank you very much for having me.
- 29:32Speaker 4: We're gonna turn it over.

- 32:27Speaker 6: into that coming up on tomorrows show. Let's welcome into
- 32:29Speaker 6: the show now current Charleston Mayor Amy Schulder, Goodwin, how
- 32:32Speaker 6: you doing.
- 32:33Speaker 16: Good morning. It was great listening to Mayor Jones.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Thank you for being here. He's a he's a trip mbs.
- 32:40Speaker 16: So much knowledge. He just has so much historical knowledge
- 32:43Speaker 16: in his brain. I'm really fortunate that he still takes
- 32:47Speaker 16: my calls and entertains my questions and he knows stuff.
- 32:52Speaker 6: I mean, how much converse I'm just kind of curious
- 32:54Speaker 6: how much conversations do you have with maybe Danny or
- 32:58Speaker 6: any other former mayors living, you know, just to pick
- 33:01Speaker 6: up the phone and say, hey, what do you think
- 33:03Speaker 6: I mean?
- 33:03Speaker 4: Is that a thing that happens?
- 33:04Speaker 16: Absolutely, it happens. And really I probably lean on Mayor
- 33:08Speaker 16: Jones the most out of the mayors, although you know,
- 33:14Speaker 16: I studied Jay Goldman, and you know Mayor Goldman, who
- 33:18Speaker 16: has an incredible history here in the city of Charleston.
- 33:22Speaker 16: And the thing that always impressed me about Mayor Goldman
- 33:26Speaker 16: was his fiscal policies. I mean, he was really tough.
- 33:29Speaker 16: He was really really tough, made a lot of really
- 33:31Speaker 16: hard cuts, and quite frankly said that Mayor Jones, because
- 33:34Speaker 16: sometimes that's just what you have to do. But you
- 33:37Speaker 16: can't be mayor for sixteen years and not know the
- 33:40Speaker 16: ins and outs, the ups and downs. And I leaned
- 33:44Speaker 16: on him heavily and still do all the time. As
- 33:47Speaker 16: a matter of fact, we're gonna get together later on
- 33:49Speaker 16: this week to have coffee so I can pick at
- 33:51Speaker 16: his brain on a couple other things. He's just he's
- 33:53Speaker 16: really good. And you know, while we don't always agree
- 33:56Speaker 16: one hundred percent, I consider him somebody that I appreciate
- 34:01Speaker 16: his advice and counsel, and I consider him a friend.
- 34:03Speaker 6: Now, so all right, we got got I know several
- 34:06Speaker 6: things we want to talk about. This is your first
- 34:09Speaker 6: this will be the last visit you had before the USA,
- 34:12Speaker 6: say us. I always want to add additional a's to us. Ye,
- 34:15Speaker 6: me tell the cycling event before it before it comes in.
- 34:17Speaker 6: So we'll get to that coming up a little bit later.
- 34:19Speaker 6: I do have a text here for you, though, is
- 34:20Speaker 6: please ask the mayor when the Civic Center seats will
- 34:24Speaker 6: be replaced. They've been terrible for years and an embarrassment.
- 34:28Speaker 6: Need to take care of the facility you have for
- 34:30Speaker 6: the people of Charleston.
- 34:32Speaker 16: Yeah, absolutely, you know what it was approved. We had
- 34:34Speaker 16: to go through council. I asked counsel to approve the
- 34:38Speaker 16: purchase of new seats for the entire coliseum and convention center.
- 34:42Speaker 16: Although the Jones administration did an amazing job upgrading the
- 34:47Speaker 16: convention center side, Uh, it is our job now to
- 34:50Speaker 16: do the coliseum side, and quite frankly, it's the it's
- 34:52Speaker 16: the side that we use the most. And so those
- 34:55Speaker 16: will be done by end of I believe summer beginning
- 35:00Speaker 16: of fall of this year, because you have to block
- 35:02Speaker 16: out a window of time and we have that blocked
- 35:05Speaker 16: and so they look great. We saw other colisseums that
- 35:10Speaker 16: have these style of seatings. I agree it is time.
- 35:14Speaker 16: It is time, and they will be in this uh,
- 35:16Speaker 16: they'll be in this year. And the cleaning of it too.
- 35:19Speaker 16: By the way, when you take out these seats, Dave,
- 35:21Speaker 16: you literally have to clean.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:25Speaker 16: So I saw a couple of the seats that were
- 35:27Speaker 16: taking out, some of the roads that were taking out
- 35:29Speaker 16: and you know, I'm pretty tough. I'm a mother of boys,
- 35:33Speaker 16: but no, thank you. That's number one. But also, you
- 35:37Speaker 16: know a lot of the pullout seats that we have,
- 35:40Speaker 16: and we're selling out so many great so many great concerts,
- 35:44Speaker 16: so many great events, those pullout seats are now they're obsolete.
- 35:49Speaker 16: We can't find the parts for them, they get stuck,
- 35:51Speaker 16: they break, and quite frankly, they're just not safe to
- 35:55Speaker 16: keep continuing pulling them in and pulling them out, because
- 35:58Speaker 16: one of these days we're not going to be to
- 36:01Speaker 16: So thanks for the text and you'll be thrilled they're coming.

- 36:19Speaker 6: what you don't know can't hurt you. Head to Kanawa
- 36:21Speaker 6: County commission President Vinsolango on the show last week, Mayor
- 36:24Speaker 6: and we talked about the pause, if you will of
- 36:28Speaker 6: Capital Sports complaxts. Would you like to add more more
- 36:32Speaker 6: to that?
- 36:32Speaker 16: Yeah? Sure. Commissioner Silango is an incredible, incredible partner. You know,
- 36:37Speaker 16: this is the first city county partnership of a project
- 36:41Speaker 16: like this. You know, we in the past have worked
- 36:44Speaker 16: in silos in government. We're not going to And I'm
- 36:48Speaker 16: just so thankful to have such a good relationship with
- 36:51Speaker 16: not only Commissioner Selango, but Tenant and Wheeler as well.
- 36:55Speaker 16: The city is one hundred percent committed to the sports center.
- 36:58Speaker 16: And you know, when we announced this project, the sports
- 37:01Speaker 16: tourism industry and travel tourism was a forty billion dollar industry.
- 37:06Speaker 16: Now that number is over fifty two. We must do
- 37:10Speaker 16: this project, you know, Senator Capito and Senator Mansion had
- 37:15Speaker 16: so much confidence in this project. They twice put in
- 37:18Speaker 16: congressionally disdirected spending on this project. And I feel confident
- 37:24Speaker 16: that Senator Capito, if she can help us secure this grant,
- 37:29Speaker 16: she absolutely will because she knows the numbers and she
- 37:32Speaker 16: knows the value. I will say, there are a lot
- 37:34Speaker 16: of things at play. For sure. I agree with Commissioner Selango.
- 37:39Speaker 16: The cost of construction is through the roof. If anybody's
- 37:43Speaker 16: listening and you're building something, I don't care if it's
- 37:44Speaker 16: a house or a business or a Heck, if you're
- 37:48Speaker 16: redoing the concrete in your driveway, Dave, it's just if
- 37:52Speaker 16: you're buying trees for a park. It is just twice
- 37:55Speaker 16: the cost of anything right now. So that is always,
- 37:58Speaker 16: you know, top of mind and of tongue when we're
- 38:00Speaker 16: talking about the sports complex. But the other thing that
- 38:03Speaker 16: I will mention, and I talked about it in another
- 38:06Speaker 16: news outlet a couple of weeks ago as well, is
- 38:09Speaker 16: you know, there are some grand opportunities that might be
- 38:13Speaker 16: forthcoming in and around that area. And that is insomuch
- 38:17Speaker 16: to say that the sports center location, having it right
- 38:22Speaker 16: there by the coliseum in Convention Center wasn't by accident.
- 38:25Speaker 16: We've been studying this for a really long period of time.
- 38:28Speaker 16: Do I think it's going to happen. Yes. Do I
- 38:31Speaker 16: think in that area it's going to happen? Yes? Do
- 38:34Speaker 16: I think it might look a little different in the future.
- 38:37Speaker 16: You know, we were going up because we were limited
- 38:39Speaker 16: on space. Again, if you're a builder, if you're in construction,
- 38:44Speaker 16: it's a heck of a lot cheaper to go horizontally
- 38:48Speaker 16: than it is vertically. And so that's something that we're
- 38:51Speaker 16: going to be looking into in the future. And the
- 38:54Speaker 16: next question you're going to say is what about them all?
- 38:56Speaker 16: Are you talking about the mall? Well, maybe I will
- 38:59Speaker 16: say that, you know, as I did a couple of
- 39:03Speaker 16: weeks ago to you when I was on we have
- 39:06Speaker 16: really good conversations with the Hall group moving forward and
- 39:11Speaker 16: what does that And it's not just the mall, it's
- 39:14Speaker 16: that entire area. If you look at TC Energy, if
- 39:17Speaker 16: you look at PoCA Valley Bank, if you look at
- 39:19Speaker 16: the hotel that's coming in, Yes, we need another hotel.
- 39:24Speaker 16: That area is really ripe for development and expanded development.
- 39:29Speaker 16: And I'll summarize my comments by just saying this, everybody
- 39:34Speaker 16: wants things to happen quickly. Gosh, you whiz. I wish
- 39:37Speaker 16: I had a magic wand in my back pocket. This
- 39:41Speaker 16: is the largest thing that we will be doing it.
- 39:45Speaker 16: It is huge. The development in and around that area
- 39:49Speaker 16: is significant. So think about in nineteen you know, in
- 39:52Speaker 16: the seventies and in the eighties when they started building
- 39:55Speaker 16: and redeveloping this huge flat piece of land. Takes a
- 40:00Speaker 16: while to make big things happen. But you know, back
- 40:04Speaker 16: to back to our support with our federal our federal folks.
- 40:07Speaker 16: I'll just say this. The reason why the Capital Connector
- 40:12Speaker 16: and twenty five million, twenty six almost twenty seven million
- 40:15Speaker 16: dollars we're going to change the face of the riverfront.
- 40:18Speaker 16: That's because of our federal partners, by the way, too,
- 40:20Speaker 16: So make no mistake about it. We've got great, great relationships.
- 40:24Speaker 16: Yes they're ongoing projects, but great relationships with our federal partners.
- 40:28Speaker 16: And you have to, by the way, you.

- 40:47Speaker 16: I'm on Friday. We did the twentieth anniversary. Yeah, it
- 40:49Speaker 16: was fun on Friday to be there.
- 40:51Speaker 6: It was, and that that game got to it was
- 40:54Speaker 6: rain delayed, storm delayed, Yeah for a while.
- 40:56Speaker 4: But I understand. We have a call, So let's go
- 40:59Speaker 4: and let's talk to our friend Jim. You're on the mayor.
- 41:03Speaker 8: Hello, Mayor, how are you? Hi, Jim?
- 41:06Speaker 16: I'm Jim. I'm wonderful. How you doing.
- 41:08Speaker 8: I I'm doing okay. I just wanted to let you
- 41:11Speaker 8: know that package that you sent me. I did not
- 41:16Speaker 8: receive it. I don't know where went to China or
- 41:19Speaker 8: where it went, but I was wondering if you could
- 41:25Speaker 8: make it up again and hand deliverer because I would
- 41:30Speaker 8: love to see you since I'm not going to be
- 41:33Speaker 8: over to attend the lie on the levy or the regatta.
- 41:39Speaker 16: Hey, Jim, I know that Andrew in my office has
- 41:41Speaker 16: your number, and so we will circle back with you
- 41:45Speaker 16: by clothes of business today and make arrangements for that.
- 41:51Speaker 8: Oh, thank you.
- 41:52Speaker 16: Yes, sir Jim, we appreciate you, looking forward to seeing you, glad.
- 41:55Speaker 4: Jim. I'm sorry, glhead Jim.
- 42:00Speaker 8: Okay. I've been in touch with Commissier slang gu by
- 42:05Speaker 8: Facebook and things like that, and I've been suggesting some
- 42:11Speaker 8: companies to check with around the valley on the seven
- 42:17Speaker 8: million dollars guests as sets. I think all the banks
- 42:21Speaker 8: should get together and contribute a few dollars so kids
- 42:29Speaker 8: can have some place to go.
- 42:31Speaker 6: All right, Jim, we appreciate your phone call. Appreciate your
- 42:34Speaker 6: phone call. Before we go to break, somebody ask about
- 42:37Speaker 6: the auditorium.
- 42:38Speaker 4: What can tell us about the minisipella?
- 42:39Speaker 16: Thank you so much. Yeah, you probably saw some forklifts
- 42:43Speaker 16: scissor lifts that were down surrounding the Municipal Auditorium. I
- 42:49Speaker 16: ask counsel months ago to give me some funding to
- 42:53Speaker 16: do an assessment of the structure of the Municipal Auditorium,
- 42:56Speaker 16: especially that front facade part Dave and were working in
- 43:01Speaker 16: town all of last week to do that assessment on
- 43:04Speaker 16: the structural integrity of that and so hopefully soon we'll
- 43:08Speaker 16: have a report because here's the thing we have to
- 43:12Speaker 16: have because a lot of folks kepas me why you know.
- 43:15Speaker 16: We have the Coliseum, you have the Clay Center. It's
- 43:17Speaker 16: a totally different beast. You and I've talked about it
- 43:19Speaker 16: at nauseum. I need that thirty eight hundred. I need that.
- 43:23Speaker 16: I need that venue that will hold that many people.
- 43:27Speaker 16: Even in its crumbling days, we were pulling in ax
- 43:32Speaker 16: and we could we could fill it. We could fill
- 43:34Speaker 16: that space, but it has to be reimagined and it
- 43:39Speaker 16: has to be a venue in which by the way,
- 43:42Speaker 16: artists want.

- 46:31Speaker 6: Charleston Mayor Amy Schuler Goodwin is here. May Mayor is
- 46:33Speaker 6: going to be a busy, busy month in the capital
- 46:37Speaker 6: city as we head into the summer months.
- 46:38Speaker 16: It's going to be absolutely incredible. And first starting with
- 46:42Speaker 16: you know, USA Cycling is just around the corner and
- 46:46Speaker 16: we are all hands on deck trying to get it
- 46:48Speaker 16: figured out. You know, we didn't. I'll be honest, and
- 46:52Speaker 16: I know I've told you this before. When we went
- 46:54Speaker 16: out to bid on this. You know, I watched the videos.
- 46:57Speaker 16: I saw the other big cities across the country it hosted,
- 47:00Speaker 16: and I just thought, Oh, this will be so exciting,
- 47:03Speaker 16: how fun this will be. I didn't get it. I
- 47:06Speaker 16: didn't get how powerful it was. I didn't get how
- 47:09Speaker 16: much enthusiasm, momentum, the return on investment that we saw.
- 47:14Speaker 16: For that. It starts May nineteenth and runs through the
- 47:18Speaker 16: twenty six It is. You know, we bring in the
- 47:21Speaker 16: nation's top cyclists, they ride through our streets. It is
- 47:24Speaker 16: so thrilling. As I told somebody over the weekend who said, gosh,
- 47:29Speaker 16: you whiz, what was really exciting is to watch that
- 47:31Speaker 16: pace car, that professional driver, you know, get ahead of
- 47:35Speaker 16: the cycklast And I said, it was very exciting. I
- 47:38Speaker 16: rode in the pace car one time, and that will
- 47:41Speaker 16: be the last time I ever ride in a professional
- 47:44Speaker 16: race car with a driver, because it was the scariest
- 47:48Speaker 16: experience of my life. I'm a driving miss Davy, you know,
- 47:53Speaker 16: a ten and two steering wheel all the way up.
- 47:56Speaker 16: But it's absolutely incredible. Folks are folks of planning vacations
- 48:01Speaker 16: around it. And we're so fortunate to have Spilman Law
- 48:07Speaker 16: be a title sponsor of this event. Obviously, the CVB
- 48:10Speaker 16: does an amazing job. CHARLESTONWV dot com CHARLESTONWV dot com,
- 48:15Speaker 16: it'll give you all the details I actually left for
- 48:17Speaker 16: you out front. We have a twenty twenty five spectator guide,
- 48:21Speaker 16: so if you are your business or your family or friends. Actually,
- 48:24Speaker 16: somebody had texted me and said, hey, I'm getting married
- 48:28Speaker 16: in that weekend. Do you think I could have a
- 48:30Speaker 16: couple of these to put in our little like, you know, bridesmaids,
- 48:34Speaker 16: groomsmen baskets, because we want to we want to make
- 48:38Speaker 16: sure that folks participate. But it is you know, we're
- 48:41Speaker 16: turning the we're you know, well, we're keeping an eye
- 48:44Speaker 16: to the sky, but we also keep it to the road.
- 48:46Speaker 16: There are a lot of paving projects going on. This
- 48:49Speaker 16: was something that when they came in and we did
- 48:52Speaker 16: on this, they said the if you remember last year,
- 48:55Speaker 16: I know I talked about this. They said, your roads
- 48:57Speaker 16: are great and I said, we have, but we've got
- 48:58Speaker 16: some touch up. What roads do you want us to pave?
- 49:00Speaker 16: And they're like, yeah, we don't really have any. This year,
- 49:02Speaker 16: we have some for sure. There's some construction going on
- 49:06Speaker 16: in downtown Charleston. So we are on you know, high
- 49:09Speaker 16: alert to make sure that those projects get done. Everything
- 49:12Speaker 16: is smoothed out because it makes a difference for not
- 49:15Speaker 16: only our riders but our driver's Dave. Mother Nature has
- 49:20Speaker 16: been just horrific. This is probably the worst year been
- 49:24Speaker 16: mayor six years, going on seven years. This is the
- 49:26Speaker 16: worst Mother Nature has treated us during winter season. So
- 49:31Speaker 16: a lot of potholes, a lot of patching, a lot
- 49:33Speaker 16: of paving projects which are already underway, and so you'll
- 49:37Speaker 16: see us out there as well, pave in your streets
- 49:40Speaker 16: because We've kept our paving budget at an elevated level
- 49:44Speaker 16: because we need to.
- 49:46Speaker 6: There's a paving project actually going on today. I took
- 49:48Speaker 6: a couple of notes on it. It's available on the
- 49:50Speaker 6: city's Facebook page. Eastbound lanes of Knaw Boulevard Clendenon to
- 49:55Speaker 6: Court Street closed till one thirty today because you get
- 49:58Speaker 6: a project going on.
- 49:59Speaker 16: There lots of projects. So you know, as we always say,
- 50:03Speaker 16: and I appreciate the patience of many, if you're delayed,
- 50:07Speaker 16: it's just because we're trying to fix stuff, things that
- 50:10Speaker 16: you have asked us to do, and so we're going
- 50:12Speaker 16: to continue to do it. There's lots of good things
- 50:14Speaker 16: going on, and not least of which we're going to
- 50:16Speaker 16: have a Live on the Levee announcement this week. I
- 50:19Speaker 16: know Multifest is going to have an announcement this week.
- 50:21Speaker 16: We've got Regatta coming up, We've got festival coming up.
- 50:25Speaker 16: So the city, as we say, in the months of
- 50:28Speaker 16: April and beginning of May, we start stretching now a
- 50:31Speaker 16: lot and training because it is an incredible season here
- 50:35Speaker 16: in the City of Charlestown.
- 50:37Speaker 4: Live on the Levee is gonna look a little bit
- 50:38Speaker 4: different this year.
- 50:39Speaker 16: It's gonna look a little bit different. And here's why,
- 50:41Speaker 16: because we have something every single weekend, and not just small, small,
- 50:47Speaker 16: little events. We have ginormous events. And we're listening to
- 50:50Speaker 16: our vendors. In the month of August, now, we saw
- 50:53Speaker 16: our Live on the Levee attendance go down, and it's
- 50:58Speaker 16: for the reason that kids are going back to school
- 51:00Speaker 16: earlier and Mother Nature has turned up the heat on us,
- 51:04Speaker 16: you know, ninety five degrees, Dave, I have very few
- 51:07Speaker 16: people coming out. And what the vendors were telling us
- 51:09Speaker 16: is we're killing it in May, June and July, and
- 51:13Speaker 16: in August not so much. We need to be flexible.
- 51:16Speaker 16: While we love to have Live on the Levee, Live
- 51:19Speaker 16: on the Levee will always be in the city of Charleston.
- 51:21Speaker 16: It may look a little bit different as we move forward,
- 51:24Speaker 16: but there is something going on, some type of entertainment
- 51:27Speaker 16: every weekend.
- 51:28Speaker 6: Charleston Maror Amy Schulder a good one. I appreciate you
- 51:30Speaker 6: being here, Thanks a lot, Thanks for loving me. All right,
- 51:32Speaker 6: hang out one second with me here. Let's go to
- 51:34Speaker 6: mister Meadows over here. What are you doing man?
- 51:36Speaker 4: Oh much?
- 51:36Speaker 3: Looking good.
- 51:37Speaker 16: That's a great fiesta.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Mug.
- 51:38Speaker 16: Look at that.
- 51:39Speaker 4: You like that.
- 51:39Speaker 16: It's like a double mug.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Stole that from my wife to say, does your wife
