- 0:02The best thing I did in my life
- 0:04for peace and tranquility was to block
- 0:08Frank.
- 0:09But he had another avenue.
- 0:12And he went after it today.
- 0:14Let's talk about it next.
- 0:27I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:28and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:30I always take what I want,
- 0:31and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:33Don't need a bank, nor I'm funded.
- 0:34Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:36I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:37Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:39Now wake up!
- 0:40It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:42Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:44friend to me.
- 0:46What is going on, everybody?
- 0:48Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:49It is lunchtime.
- 0:52Man, nobody ruins my day.
- 0:56more than frank more than frank um i
- 1:01had to do um internet security training
- 1:05this morning
- 1:07And so I was going through all that.
- 1:09And then I tried to catch up on
- 1:11Savan at high speed.
- 1:15And then Frank goes in the chat.
- 1:19It explodes into this rant that he does
- 1:23all the time,
- 1:24just spewing and spewing his...
- 1:27bs all over everybody and then he calls
- 1:30into the show and ruins that um it
- 1:35is just ridiculous the he is the gnat
- 1:41of crossfit he's that annoying little
- 1:43thing that just buzzes around your face
- 1:46and you're just swatting him away and
- 1:48swatting away and he never leaves
- 1:51He never, ever leaves.
- 1:53Um,
- 1:53I said in the chat that Frank is
- 1:56a chatty Kathy doll that pulls his own
- 1:58string and just says the same thing over
- 2:00and over again,
- 2:01hoping somebody is going to listen.
- 2:04Ah,
- 2:05best thing I ever did was block Frank.
- 2:08And that's all I have to say about
- 2:10that.
- 2:14The net of CrossFit clip it.
- 2:17Um,
- 2:19Yeah, I know he's spewing right now.
- 2:21I was listening as long as I could,
- 2:23but then I wanted to come over and
- 2:24hang out with my friends instead of
- 2:26listening to that garbage.
- 2:28So, yeah, it was just crazy.
- 2:32So, with that, good to see you guys,
- 2:35man.
- 2:37It's good to be here and not be
- 2:39rushed for appointments or things like
- 2:41that.
- 2:42But we got Meredith in the house.
- 2:43We got Megan.
- 2:44We got Corey.
- 2:45We got Jody.
- 2:48We got Vicky.
- 2:50Man, they have messed up your guys' names.
- 2:54So thank goodness I know most of you
- 2:56through your avatar.
- 2:58Denise is here.
- 3:01Linda.
- 3:03Eric Mackey.
- 3:07Shanna.
- 3:09So here we go.
- 3:10There we go.
- 3:11Nice.
- 3:12Yeah,
- 3:12don't give the squeaky wheel the grease it
- 3:14whines for.
- 3:16Eric, I have blocked him on everything.
- 3:18I, I try not to block people.
- 3:20I try to give everybody a voice and
- 3:22be fair to that.
- 3:24But that man,
- 3:26that man was just too much.
- 3:28So he got blocked on everything of my
- 3:30accounts.
- 3:31Uh,
- 3:31cause he was clipping me for everything.
- 3:35And, uh,
- 3:41Uh, behold my avatar,
- 3:43the upside down black and white old guy.
- 3:45There we go.
- 3:46Nice.
- 3:48Amanda jumps in.
- 3:49Good to see you, Amanda.
- 3:50Here we go.
- 3:51So, um,
- 3:53We're going to talk about our normal
- 3:54stuff.
- 3:56Um, last night,
- 3:57the blue Jays punched their ticket to the
- 3:59world series.
- 4:00Um,
- 4:00I know that makes Carolyn Prevo happy as
- 4:02a Toronto resident.
- 4:04Um,
- 4:05it's the first time that they've been
- 4:06there since like the
- 4:14George Springer hit a home run,
- 4:16a three run Homer to take the lead
- 4:18back for Toronto and they go on to
- 4:20win.
- 4:21And now we have blue Jays Dodgers.
- 4:25I don't,
- 4:25I hate when the big super teams win
- 4:27all the time.
- 4:28So yeah,
- 4:32So not rooting for the Dodgers in the
- 4:33World Series.
- 4:34I'm rooting for the Blue Jays.
- 4:36Hope they do well.
- 4:38Super excited to see this.
- 4:39I love playoff baseball.
- 4:41I love the tension it brings.
- 4:44I love the duel between the pitcher and
- 4:46the hitter.
- 4:46I know that's not for everybody.
- 4:48It's a little bit slow for some,
- 4:50but it's okay.
- 4:51We have a little bit for everyone,
- 4:53and that is awesome.
- 4:59Okay.
- 5:00Aaron Fraser,
- 5:01you need a live call-in number,
- 5:02so Frank can call in.
- 5:03I have a live call-in number,
- 5:05but with the lunch,
- 5:05I don't always like to do it just
- 5:07because I don't have a lot of time
- 5:10because I'm doing this actually on my
- 5:12lunch hour,
- 5:13and I've blocked Frank from everything.
- 5:15So Frank can't even come into the chat,
- 5:19but I guess he could call the number
- 5:20because I think he can still watch the
- 5:22videos.
- 5:25Okay.
- 5:30Uh, Lito thought it was Wednesday.
- 5:32Uh, I love those weeks.
- 5:34I love the weeks when you get a
- 5:35day towards the weekend when you,
- 5:39when you mess it up, but nope,
- 5:41it's not Wednesday.
- 5:42It's only Tuesday.
- 5:44Um, yeah, thank God, Aaron.
- 5:48Yes.
- 5:49I couldn't handle it anymore.
- 5:50I blocked him last week on everything I
- 5:52have.
- 5:56fantasy football league is up for grabs
- 5:58second through eleventh place is one game
- 6:00apart yeah I'm finally getting my act
- 6:02together I think I've won three in a
- 6:03row in that took Howie out this week
- 6:11so yeah finally on the upswing working
- 6:14that waiver wire to the best of my
- 6:15ability to try to improve that team but
- 6:19what's going on so we got Jess how
- 6:21are you girl miss you
- 6:26Hope maybe we can collaborate again
- 6:28someday soon.
- 6:31Uh,
- 6:32so we got the blue Jays last night.
- 6:33They're going to the world series.
- 6:35That's awesome.
- 6:36I don't know.
- 6:37Like the locker room celebration in
- 6:39Toronto, they had like dance club lights.
- 6:42I don't, um,
- 6:47I don't know if that was like a
- 6:48setup just for the playoffs or what,
- 6:51but like the champagne celebration,
- 6:53they had like club lights going on and
- 6:55all the bit.
- 6:57It was crazy.
- 6:59Maybe they worked with the WFP to get
- 7:01their lighting.
- 7:03Good possibility.
- 7:06Yeah.
- 7:09Jess, I am good.
- 7:10Thirty four weeks this week.
- 7:12And yes, I can't wait to collaborate soon.
- 7:14And you're going to you're going to have
- 7:15your hands full, though.
- 7:18Could have your hands full,
- 7:19the little one,
- 7:20but I'm so happy for you guys.
- 7:28Speaking of collaborators,
- 7:30Ishmael is heading over to Rogue for us.
- 7:33So he'll be there capturing video and
- 7:35picture content of the Rogue Invitational.
- 7:41So even though I couldn't go over this
- 7:45year, he can.
- 7:47So we're super psyched about that,
- 7:49to do that.
- 7:52Getting all the info from them right now
- 7:56on what they're going to provide.
- 7:58what they're gonna do for him so uh
- 8:00that's been fun to kind of work on
- 8:03that uh the next thing i wanted to
- 8:05talk about real quick is go back to
- 8:08our sunday night show uh last night savon
- 8:13did a week in review with dave uh
- 8:16a review of the week in review with
- 8:18dave castro and during that he he kind
- 8:23of
- 8:24Not kind of.
- 8:25He went off on Karen a little bit
- 8:27and what she said about J.R.
- 8:30While I appreciate him talking about us,
- 8:33and I don't think we ever said anything
- 8:36bad about J.R.,
- 8:39But the thing that I want to say
- 8:41about the whole bit is we're a show.
- 8:44We're trying to entertain.
- 8:45We're trying to have subjects to talk
- 8:47about.
- 8:48And if we just agree with everything
- 8:50that's going on or just praise everything
- 8:53that's going on,
- 8:54none of you are going to watch.
- 8:57And so...
- 9:00We have to look at things critically in
- 9:02a way that makes sense to us.
- 9:06Now,
- 9:06what Carolyn was just trying to say is
- 9:08she thought it would be cool if the
- 9:11masters and the elites were all in one
- 9:14group competing against each other and you
- 9:16have two separate leaderboards.
- 9:18I'm not really a big fan of that,
- 9:20but I let her have her say.
- 9:23And I,
- 9:23and she has some validity to that,
- 9:25but I don't think we should switch the
- 9:27way we do competitions because there's one
- 9:30dominant athlete.
- 9:33What I was trying to say is Caroline
- 9:36Klutz becomes a story because she's doing
- 9:40something amazing.
- 9:41And at thirty seven or thirty eight,
- 9:45because she's been in the Masters for a
- 9:46couple of years,
- 9:47is doing something that we don't see very
- 9:50often.
- 9:50And that is competing with the elite
- 9:52athletes at an elite level.
- 9:55Um, it's happened like in tennis,
- 9:57Jimmy Connor signed up for the U S
- 9:58open one year and he made it like
- 10:00all the way to quarterfinals.
- 10:02And it becomes a big news story because
- 10:04he hadn't been in tennis for years.
- 10:06And all of a sudden he's competing with
- 10:08the youngsters doing what they do.
- 10:10It's happened at like the British opening
- 10:12golf where a legend has a good couple
- 10:16days gets into contention and is competing
- 10:19with the young athletes.
- 10:20It becomes the story then for the rest
- 10:23of the week.
- 10:24My only contention is that becomes a
- 10:27story.
- 10:29And it should have been...
- 10:30And that should have been highlighted more
- 10:35and more.
- 10:35That's all.
- 10:37That's all I wanted.
- 10:38Everything else they did broadcast-wise
- 10:41was so much improved.
- 10:43And I think it was better than some
- 10:44of the Hamilton Roads production.
- 10:48That's all.
- 10:49I...
- 10:50I love the picture-in-picture with
- 10:52multiple athletes on the screen and being
- 10:55able to see more of the race.
- 10:56I thought that was awesome.
- 11:03Yes, Eric.
- 11:04Huge lesson for CrossFit All Broadcast.
- 11:06Add picture-in-picture, a full floor view,
- 11:09and can still highlight athlete races.
- 11:11That was incredible.
- 11:14It was innovative.
- 11:15It was...
- 11:18It was fantastic,
- 11:20and it should be adopted by as many
- 11:23different broadcasters as possible.
- 11:28And I've said this on the show a
- 11:29million times.
- 11:30Hamilton Roads is boring to me.
- 11:32They are doing the same broadcast they
- 11:34have been doing for twelve years.
- 11:37I want something new.
- 11:38And right now,
- 11:39the Savon team did a better job
- 11:41broadcasting this event than Hamilton
- 11:46Roads has done.
- 11:47With all those years of experience,
- 11:49with all the truck innovations,
- 11:51all the stuff,
- 11:52it became easier to watch because I didn't
- 11:56get just single shots of one athlete for
- 11:59the whole event.
- 12:01I got multiple athletes in multiple boxes
- 12:05or side by sides during the event,
- 12:07and I could see more of the races.
- 12:09Now,
- 12:10because it was only six athletes per heat,
- 12:13I got great floor coverage of a whole
- 12:16floor,
- 12:17and that they did have an advantage with.
- 12:23Shanna,
- 12:23not many people at the comp seemed to
- 12:25be aware of how well she was doing
- 12:26at the time.
- 12:28That storyline flew under the wire,
- 12:31which was very unfortunate.
- 12:33I agree.
- 12:36It's a shame.
- 12:38And Carolyn put it well in the reel
- 12:41I released last night,
- 12:42is if you're a coach or an athlete
- 12:44in the elite division and you're not going
- 12:46out there to watch Caroline Klutz go,
- 12:49you know she's going to post a top
- 12:50time.
- 12:51She's going to show you how to attack
- 12:53the workout.
- 12:54It was great research for everybody else.
- 12:57And that's where Jamie comes in and says,
- 12:59can you imagine if she was competing head
- 13:01to head with them and, and be,
- 13:03and be able to race with them?
- 13:05She may have even done better than doing
- 13:08the workouts by herself.
- 13:16Uh, Vic, uh, Jamie agree on Hamilton road,
- 13:18Scott.
- 13:22Um,
- 13:24moose talent well at hamilton is dry it's
- 13:27just the same thing like it there's no
- 13:31there's no new graphics there's no new
- 13:34format to it every it's the same order
- 13:37of everything that happens during the
- 13:38event it there's just nothing new
- 13:45CrossFit, no need to defend yourself.
- 13:48People are too sensitive.
- 13:49Well,
- 13:49I'm not really defending myself because
- 13:51just like I can be critical of them
- 13:54on Sunday night,
- 13:55Siobhan can be critical of me on Monday
- 13:58night.
- 13:58It's what makes interesting podcasts.
- 14:01Differing opinions make things
- 14:03interesting.
- 14:04And then you side with the people you
- 14:07think you agree with on that topic.
- 14:09And I can still be friends with Savon
- 14:10and have a disagreement on how we looked
- 14:13at Crash and how we looked at Sunday.
- 14:16But I can also say if I feel
- 14:18that something could have been done
- 14:19differently.
- 14:20That's all.
- 14:28Switching to each athlete as or after they
- 14:31finish is pointless.
- 14:32CrossFit every broadcast.
- 14:34Well,
- 14:36that's if they're not stuck on someone
- 14:38that has finished for thirty seconds and
- 14:40watching them lay on the ground.
- 14:43I think that's effective occasionally,
- 14:45but they do it every single race.
- 14:50Uh, David Reed,
- 14:50why didn't she compete as an elite?
- 14:53I really don't know why she didn't
- 14:55probably because she knew she could win
- 14:57the master's division and it paid more
- 15:00than every position on the podium of elite
- 15:04other than first.
- 15:06But she has agreed to come on the
- 15:08show this week,
- 15:09but she's been so busy moving,
- 15:12doing crash.
- 15:13I'm hoping to get her scheduled later in
- 15:15the week and we can ask her flat
- 15:16out why she competes as a master's athlete
- 15:20and not an elite athlete.
- 15:28Cross that cross fat who programs, uh,
- 15:31the rogue events.
- 15:32Uh, it's generally Chris Spieler,
- 15:34Josh Bridges, and Katie Henniger.
- 15:37And from the way Josh talks about it,
- 15:40Josh and Chris kind of come up with,
- 15:43I think they're given kind of a template
- 15:45and maybe some apparatus that Rogue wants
- 15:47to highlight.
- 15:48They come up with a plan,
- 15:50and then Katie is the final say.
- 15:53Katie is the one that says, well,
- 15:54let's tweak it to this or tweak it
- 15:56to that.
- 15:57So that's kind of how it goes.
- 16:00And the other reason I say that is,
- 16:03In the past,
- 16:03Rogue has always had that tailgate
- 16:05coverage where it's an alternate desk
- 16:08watching the event and talking,
- 16:10and Josh is generally a part of that,
- 16:12and he talks about that system live on
- 16:17that show every single year.
- 16:21So that's where I get that information.
- 16:25I've also volunteered at Rogue as part of
- 16:29their...
- 16:31documentary team.
- 16:33Um,
- 16:33and so I've been in the areas where
- 16:36they're talking and having those
- 16:38conversations, Katie, Josh and Chris.
- 16:41Um, and it's fascinating.
- 16:45Katie definitely is the boss though.
- 16:47I will say that.
- 16:51Can't believe that's just two weeks out.
- 16:54Insane.
- 16:57Um,
- 17:00I think that's pretty much it from Crash,
- 17:07I think.
- 17:08I was trying to think if there's anything
- 17:14else I wanted to touch on.
- 17:16Really,
- 17:16really enjoying the behind-the-scenes
- 17:18stuff coming out.
- 17:22I want to say this about Hiller's
- 17:24behind-the-scenes.
- 17:26I like that he's doing it almost as
- 17:28like a mini-doc.
- 17:30like his version is like,
- 17:32here we are before event one,
- 17:34here's the athletes behind the scenes.
- 17:36And then here's some clips of them doing
- 17:38the workout.
- 17:39And here's some of their times as they
- 17:41finish, um, doing it that way.
- 17:43It's,
- 17:44it's a very interesting and new way of
- 17:46doing a BTS as opposed to like a
- 17:49full game stock.
- 17:51Um,
- 17:53and because he's talking to the athletes
- 17:55beforehand and then he's showing you their
- 17:58times and how they actually did in the
- 18:00workout after, I really liked that format.
- 18:04I thought it was pretty cool.
- 18:06Um, and it,
- 18:09it gave a little bit of different flavor
- 18:11than some of the other, uh,
- 18:13BTS that I've seen.
- 18:15Um, so yeah.
- 18:22Um,
- 18:24The other piece we talked about a little
- 18:26bit on Sunday Night Show is that there
- 18:31was a person,
- 18:34a media member on the floor that some
- 18:36of the athletes had to go around because
- 18:39that person was standing in their lane
- 18:42when they were moving.
- 18:44And everybody was asking, was it me?
- 18:45Was it me?
- 18:46And it was nobody that I really know.
- 18:50I just saw it.
- 18:51And I would name names if I knew.
- 18:53Just like I did at WFP when I
- 18:55got a picture of the guy right on
- 18:58the person doing a GHD,
- 19:00like inches away from them as they were
- 19:02going back to the floor,
- 19:03and he was like right there in their
- 19:05face.
- 19:06I clipped a screenshot of that and just
- 19:09showed how distracting that has to be.
- 19:13And it's so frustrating to me because if
- 19:18I'm watching...
- 19:20a UFC fight,
- 19:21there's nobody inside the octagon with the
- 19:23athletes.
- 19:24If I'm watching an NFL game,
- 19:26there's no media member on the field.
- 19:30If I'm watching an NBA contest,
- 19:32there's no media person on the floor.
- 19:34They are all outside the ropes.
- 19:38And so that is what infuriates me about
- 19:44media members being there because it's
- 19:46already a crowded floor.
- 19:47You're trying to make it a spectator
- 19:49sport.
- 19:50And most of the time they're just getting
- 19:51in the way of the spectators or the
- 19:54viewers on the stream and you can't see,
- 19:57uh, what's going on.
- 20:01Um,
- 20:04And that is very, very frustrating for me.
- 20:07And Jess kind of puts it, and again,
- 20:10I'm a media member.
- 20:10I have a camera.
- 20:11I shoot video.
- 20:13But I'm not like a professional by any
- 20:15means.
- 20:16I'm self-taught.
- 20:17Maybe a little bit of my daughter,
- 20:18who is a professional, teaches me.
- 20:20But Jess says, get a longer lens.
- 20:23I agree.
- 20:27Shanna, that happened to me at the games.
- 20:29Judge in my lane during handstand walks,
- 20:31so annoying and unnecessary.
- 20:34Um, I'll be honest, craft fat, uh,
- 20:38Caleb and Pedro,
- 20:39I did not see on the broadcast.
- 20:42Um, no,
- 20:43I didn't watch every minute of every event
- 20:45this weekend.
- 20:46Uh, I was working on some other stuff,
- 20:49but I didn't,
- 20:50they'd never became noticeable to me.
- 20:51This was a person I believe that was
- 20:54hired by crash, uh, to put out reels,
- 20:57things of that nature.
- 20:59But I can't even guarantee that.
- 21:00Cause I don't know who the person is.
- 21:03But I did not notice Caleb.
- 21:07I did see Pedro a few times,
- 21:08but never like blocking an athlete.
- 21:16Chet Anufi.
- 21:18It was Rick Jones and happened multiple
- 21:20times.
- 21:20I cringed when it happened with Paige.
- 21:23There we go.
- 21:23There's the name.
- 21:28And the media is not always paying
- 21:29attention to what they do on the floor,
- 21:31have pics of one cameraman looking away
- 21:33during a video.
- 21:34Well,
- 21:34the piece I saw with Paige and apparently
- 21:38Rick Jones is he did not even see
- 21:41her.
- 21:43And she had to go around him in
- 21:45her lane to get from the flip sled
- 21:49to the handstand push-ups.
- 21:58Eric Mackey, so conflicted.
- 22:00Got to get to a noon class for
- 22:01open workout.
- 22:02Nineteen wall balls and row calories.
- 22:06Oh,
- 22:07that's I always think I'm going to like
- 22:10that workout until I get into it.
- 22:12But good luck with that, Eric.
- 22:13Holy cow.
- 22:17Jay Birch,
- 22:18I've run into so many camera people when
- 22:20judging.
- 22:27Or get higher up and see different vantage
- 22:29point.
- 22:30That's a possibility too.
- 22:36Tristan, fun story,
- 22:38threw my hat at a media person who
- 22:40was in the way of one of my
- 22:41athletes at a comp once.
- 22:42There you go.
- 22:45Take matters into your own hands.
- 22:50Uh,
- 22:50nineteen point one was my first ever open
- 22:52workout.
- 22:53Also the first time I ever got tunnel
- 22:55vision.
- 23:01Jamie, we have row and wall balls today.
- 23:06Yo, two?
- 23:07I think two.
- 23:09She was at the Lions game last night.
- 23:11Maybe she's still a little hungover.
- 23:19Rick Jones, he's Crash's main media guy.
- 23:22He didn't interfere with the weight
- 23:23loading things.
- 23:25He didn't interfere with the weight
- 23:26loading things to learn from.
- 23:28There we go.
- 23:40Denise Moore,
- 23:42I appreciate the break and wave to the
- 23:44camera.
- 23:46That's making lemonade out of lemons right
- 23:48there, Denise.
- 23:52Yeah.
- 23:53Jamie sent me a picture last night.
- 23:56I think she had a good time at
- 23:57the Lions game.
- 24:01Chattanoofy,
- 24:02that was my first ever workout, Corey.
- 24:05First ever workout?
- 24:06Was Open Workout in
- 24:09Oh, first open workout.
- 24:11Okay.
- 24:12Okay.
- 24:15My first workout was Murph,
- 24:17so I guess I don't have no room
- 24:18to talk.
- 24:23It was a blast.
- 24:24They played so well last night.
- 24:28My question to you is,
- 24:29do you like the night,
- 24:33what do they call those uniforms?
- 24:35The all black with the Hawaiian blue
- 24:39helmets?
- 24:40I love the Hawaiian blue helmets.
- 24:42I think they're better than the silver
- 24:43ones, but I'm not a Lions fan.
- 24:46I'm just looking at it from aesthetic
- 24:47point of view.
- 24:49You're the Lions fan, so.
- 24:50I need Dan Campbell to do some
- 24:55motivational speeches for CrossFit.
- 24:58That could help.
- 25:01The Bears have Ben Johnson now who learned
- 25:03from him.
- 25:04He's doing awesome.
- 25:05I love his speeches.
- 25:08Never,
- 25:08ever did the Bears show the locker room
- 25:11celebrations after games.
- 25:12And now that they have Ben Johnson,
- 25:15they put them out for public view after
- 25:19every single game now.
- 25:30did not know this is a fashion show
- 25:32uh trish you just came in we talked
- 25:34about a whole bunch of other stuff before
- 25:35uh the uniforms uh i don't know how
- 25:42anyone affords a camera so how i did
- 25:46it
- 25:47How I did it, Grant,
- 25:48was I sold off all of my sports
- 25:50memorabilia.
- 25:52I had like thirty signed mini helmets,
- 25:55sold them off on eBay.
- 25:57I had every card that Walter Payton ever
- 26:00made, sold those off on eBay.
- 26:04I had a whole bunch of seventy Steeler
- 26:05rookie cards, sold them off on eBay,
- 26:08and that got me my camera.
- 26:16I'm just happy I got the iPhone XII
- 26:18finally.
- 26:19That's a darn decent cam.
- 26:20Yeah,
- 26:22what's crazy is the phone cameras are
- 26:24almost as good.
- 26:25Now,
- 26:25the only thing that the camera gets me
- 26:28is with the longer lens,
- 26:29I can get really close shots.
- 26:38In order to get something that surpasses
- 26:39the iPhone,
- 26:40I feel like it's a five grand or
- 26:41more.
- 26:41I paid like twenty five hundred.
- 26:45for mine.
- 26:47And I'm really happy with it.
- 26:50Now the lenses are crazy.
- 26:52That,
- 26:52that was just the camera body was twenty
- 26:54five grand or not twenty five grand,
- 26:56twenty five hundred.
- 27:03Vicki,
- 27:04I've been looking at cameras for almost a
- 27:05year.
- 27:06I hear you.
- 27:14i sold off all my sports memorabilia for
- 27:16weed to throw a party in high school
- 27:18unfortunately yeah that would have been a
- 27:20bad decision the tech changes so fast it
- 27:30does and once you the thing about a
- 27:34camera like once you buy one you're pretty
- 27:36much stuck
- 27:38in that lane.
- 27:39Like if you buy a Canon,
- 27:40you're stuck in Canon.
- 27:41If you buy a Nikon,
- 27:42you're stuck in Nikon.
- 27:43If you buy a Sony, you're stuck there.
- 27:46And because the lenses are so expensive,
- 27:51you just have to kind of keep,
- 27:54at least your lenses can go from camera
- 27:56to camera.
- 28:04And Jess is saying, any camera will work,
- 28:06person behind the shutter.
- 28:21What's a good app for IG Reels,
- 28:23et cetera?
- 28:29Oh, boy.
- 28:31I don't know what you're looking for,
- 28:32Vicki, specifically.
- 28:36There's one that I got that does captions,
- 28:38and then it's added some other stuff to
- 28:40it.
- 28:41It is captions is what it's called.
- 28:45It has some functionality.
- 28:48CapCut says Jenny.
- 28:52But my,
- 28:53the video software I use to edit my
- 28:56long form videos has just added an AI
- 28:58feature where they'll take my long form
- 29:01podcast and they'll cut it into like ten
- 29:03different reels.
- 29:05And it's done a really good job and
- 29:06it's saved me so much time with reels
- 29:10that I'm able to put out way more
- 29:11reels in a week than I used to
- 29:13be able to do.
- 29:15Yeah.
- 29:16occasionally like I had a week,
- 29:18two weeks ago or something like everyone
- 29:20at picked was just awful.
- 29:22Um,
- 29:22and so I was just kind of stuck.
- 29:25Um, but yeah.
- 29:33can't believe what keeping it real got rid
- 29:34of a signed roberto clemente poster which
- 29:38in the pittsburgh area would be worth a
- 29:40fortune uh and a psa jordan rookie nine
- 29:44gosh what's that thousands you could have
- 29:47a pretty nice camera grant um
- 30:00What is this I heard about JY being
- 30:02a grant?
- 30:03I don't even know.
- 30:11I don't know what that means.
- 30:21Trish, what did you hear?
- 30:27Ah, now I know what she's saying.
- 30:29Just took a second.
- 30:32Um, so there, okay, that's going to be,
- 30:36I'll watch out for that.
- 30:39Um,
- 30:42the last thing I wanted to talk about,
- 30:43and this, uh,
- 30:44I'm reminded by this because Jenny's here.
- 30:48During the crash competition,
- 30:50Colton was interviewed by the Savant
- 30:52Podcast.
- 30:53He went off on a little bit of
- 30:55a rant about people cutting videos of
- 30:58their workouts, posting them,
- 31:02and then kind of blasting them.
- 31:05Not kind of, blasting them.
- 31:07And then, and kind of left it vague.
- 31:13My question to you is,
- 31:17My question to you is not posting.
- 31:21Okay.
- 31:22My question to you is it is obvious
- 31:25that Colton loves to have a chip on
- 31:27his shoulder when he's competing.
- 31:30He likes to take what people say about
- 31:32him,
- 31:32and he uses that as fuel in his
- 31:36training and when he competes.
- 31:40There's also people like Jason Hopper who
- 31:43has admitted that he has a burn book
- 31:45in his phone.
- 31:46Justin Medeiros has admitted that he has a
- 31:48burn book in his phone of clipping
- 31:51everything people say about them.
- 31:53Do you need to have a chip on
- 31:56your shoulder to be a great CrossFit
- 31:58athlete?
- 32:01That is my question to you.
- 32:03And I'm sure this is not about...
- 32:07I'm sure this is not universal,
- 32:09but I think that the great athletes find
- 32:13anything to fuel themselves.
- 32:15And because Grant brought him up,
- 32:16Michael Jordan is infamous for even making
- 32:19up stories in his head that weren't true
- 32:22to fuel him to be even more competitive
- 32:25on the floor.
- 32:32And so my question is,
- 32:34do you have a chip on your shoulder?
- 32:37To be better.
- 32:43Tristan says, no, but it won't hurt.
- 32:50The movement doctor says,
- 32:52you need to be an addict.
- 32:58Trish, anything goes.
- 33:05Yeah.
- 33:11says,
- 33:11you need some anger to be able to
- 33:13perform at a high level,
- 33:15regardless of the sport.
- 33:37Uh, CJ,
- 33:38you're all showed was yesterday was great.
- 33:40I got caught up and it was a
- 33:42good show yesterday.
- 33:47So I guess CJ is the one Oh
- 33:49one, one Oh, Oh, Oh one.
- 33:51Gosh, man,
- 33:51this change has been awful or no,
- 33:54the movement doctor.
- 33:54That's CJ.
- 33:56Okay.
- 33:56I'll figure this out at some point.
- 33:59Uh, Trish,
- 33:59I like the duality of Colton chip on
- 34:02shoulder, but has a sense of humor.
- 34:04I think that's really,
- 34:04that's a great way to put it.
- 34:06He does have a chip on his shoulder,
- 34:07but he doesn't let it like fuel his
- 34:10life.
- 34:11He just lets it fuel him as an
- 34:12athlete.
- 34:13And he's really good at,
- 34:16at walking the line between the two.
- 34:19I would argue that when Justin was really
- 34:21mad,
- 34:22he let the fuel overtake some of his
- 34:26life.
- 34:26When I first met Justin way back when,
- 34:29he was really easy to talk to,
- 34:31really fun to be around.
- 34:33And then there was a period where he
- 34:34got really quiet and to himself because I
- 34:39think he let the fuel go too much
- 34:42or burn too hot.
- 34:47So...
- 34:51I think Colton rides that line way better
- 34:53than most.
- 34:58And then Corey,
- 34:59who's going to be on with me tomorrow.
- 35:00Lito,
- 35:01I have a folder in my phone called
- 35:02receipts.
- 35:04He's actually shown me some of the
- 35:05receipts.
- 35:06This Corey has a nice chip.
- 35:16Uh,
- 35:16CrossFit says there's a lot of money on
- 35:18the line, so you need to stay focused.
- 35:20I can see Justin doing that.
- 35:27Uh, uh,
- 35:33they just hate on Colton because we praise
- 35:35them so much.
- 35:36They jelly.
- 35:38So I'm assuming Jenny is saying that he
- 35:41was responding to some hate he was getting
- 35:44from some other people who were jealous of
- 35:48the publicity he gets.
- 35:55And Moose says it does make for great
- 35:57storylines.
- 35:59It does.
- 36:02I think.
- 36:05I do think I was that person that
- 36:07always,
- 36:08if someone told me I couldn't do
- 36:10something,
- 36:12I would be so damn stubborn and try
- 36:17to prove those people wrong.
- 36:26And sometimes that gets me into trouble.
- 36:29Because I don't just do that in a
- 36:31sports sense.
- 36:32Sometimes it's in life and I need to
- 36:35learn to figure out where it's appropriate
- 36:37and where it's not.
- 36:40But I do think that I use the
- 36:44fuel.
- 36:47every time i've been super successful and
- 36:50we talked about this a little bit
- 36:51yesterday every time i've been super
- 36:53successful in my athletic career or in
- 36:56weight loss or in crossfit it's i had
- 36:59a rival i had that one person that
- 37:02i wanted to beat every single day uh
- 37:05that kind of looked at me and said
- 37:07you can't do this um
- 37:12And then it was everything in my being
- 37:15to make sure that person never beat me
- 37:18again.
- 37:25I don't think I ever kept like receipts
- 37:27on my phone because back then all we
- 37:29had was stone tablet and chisel.
- 37:32But yeah, I mentioned even yesterday,
- 37:38like I had an, maybe it was yesterday.
- 37:41I don't know.
- 37:42I mentioned it on Sunday night that I
- 37:44had a rival, and his name was Todd,
- 37:46and I would just do everything in my
- 37:49power to beat that man.
- 37:52Everything in my power to beat that man.
- 38:01The Simi,
- 38:02I think the longer you do CrossFit,
- 38:03the longer you realize you're your own
- 38:05worst enemy,
- 38:06and it's just you versus the old you.
- 38:08I wish I could get there, Simi.
- 38:11I think I have a problem.
- 38:13And I have a problem.
- 38:17And here's where I struggle with this a
- 38:19lot right now.
- 38:21This is confessional time.
- 38:23So I have the old, old Scott,
- 38:25the five hundred pound Scott.
- 38:28who then became the old Scott that had
- 38:31lost two hundred and fifty plus pounds and
- 38:33was like two hundred and sixty and getting
- 38:36really,
- 38:36really fit and would get crazy at the
- 38:40gym.
- 38:40Right.
- 38:42Then I had a back injury and then
- 38:44things changed.
- 38:45So now it's me versus which old Scott.
- 38:49There's the old Scott that was like really
- 38:51fit that I,
- 38:52my body just can't do what it was
- 38:54doing then.
- 38:55But then there's the old,
- 38:57old Scott that I really need to be
- 38:58better than and get better and,
- 39:01and compete against him.
- 39:03And I'm,
- 39:03I'm having a hard time in my mind,
- 39:08not comparing myself to the old Scott,
- 39:11but going after the old, old Scott.
- 39:18I hope that makes sense.
- 39:23Because what you say is true.
- 39:27It should be me versus me.
- 39:36Yeah, you feel me.
- 39:37It's exactly that.
- 39:39Three fifty down to one sixty five up
- 39:41to two seventy down to one ninety five.
- 39:43Yeah.
- 39:43Yeah.
- 39:44And now I'm learning how do I use
- 39:46this new body in a way that it
- 39:50will never do what the two-sixty Scott
- 39:55could do.
- 39:56It doesn't mean I can't be successful
- 39:59again,
- 40:00but it's never going to be able to
- 40:01lift those weights.
- 40:02It's never going to be able to do
- 40:04all the things it could do then because
- 40:06I've had twelve back procedures, right?
- 40:19Scott,
- 40:19you can't compare yourself to who you
- 40:20were.
- 40:21That's no different than comparing
- 40:23yourself today with you at twenty.
- 40:25All you can do is compare yourself to
- 40:27yesterday.
- 40:29Gosh, it's I hear you.
- 40:31I believe you.
- 40:33But actually putting that into practice is
- 40:36really, really hard.
- 40:41But the inside Scott is great.
- 40:43Well, I want the outside Scott to match.
- 40:51uh moose comparison is a thief of joy
- 40:54even against yourself each evolution
- 40:56brings success failures lessons learned
- 41:03again all these things make sense to me
- 41:05logically and
- 41:12And I know all these to be true.
- 41:14Everything you guys are saying is true.
- 41:18It's just getting my mind around that and
- 41:21to embrace that in a way that's healthy
- 41:24for me.
- 41:28George,
- 41:29it's me at fifty eight versus me at
- 41:30fifty and I'm losing.
- 41:37I see me.
- 41:38I don't have answers,
- 41:39but thank you for voicing that.
- 41:41I feel that to my core.
- 41:47Vicki, I get it.
- 41:48I lost sixty pounds on this journey and
- 41:50CJ can attest how hard I can be
- 41:52on myself.
- 41:53So I'll give you the advice he gave
- 41:55me.
- 41:55Stop moving the goalpost.
- 42:02That's a good one.
- 42:04I say that to my daughter all the
- 42:05time.
- 42:07I just,
- 42:07I can say that and I can mean
- 42:09it.
- 42:10Now I've just got to do it.
- 42:21I can't compare my sixty seven year old
- 42:23Denise to twenty five year old Denise and
- 42:25her potential to lift heavy.
- 42:35amanda not comparing yourself to your old
- 42:37self is easier said than done it is
- 42:39so so so much easier said than done
- 42:44but i'm gonna work on it i'm gonna
- 42:47work meredith it's hard four kids later
- 42:52and i'm not gonna have the body that
- 42:53i did but i can still be the
- 42:55best version of my current life i'm i'm
- 42:59with you i i look at i look
- 43:01at my mom and i look at my
- 43:03in-laws
- 43:05And I don't want to struggle with the
- 43:10basic things in life when I'm older.
- 43:13You know,
- 43:14still being able to do a burpee in
- 43:16my fifties is a blessing and it is
- 43:20awesome.
- 43:21And that means if you go down,
- 43:26if you fall down,
- 43:27you get right back up and
- 43:35That is life as you get older.
- 43:38And I want to be able to do
- 43:39that for as long as I live.
- 43:41If I can still do a burpee in
- 43:43my nineties, that will make me happy.
- 43:46Now I've got to figure out the in-between
- 43:48to get my outside self back to where
- 43:51I need it to be.
- 44:00CJ,
- 44:00my athlete's just hanging out in your
- 44:02chat.
- 44:03I see you too.
- 44:08Corey Leonard,
- 44:09I can promise you I'm not the same
- 44:10human I was ten years ago.
- 44:12Hell,
- 44:12I'm not the same person I was ten
- 44:13hours ago.
- 44:14And I think that's the point.
- 44:15Keep growing.
- 44:16Keep moving.
- 44:17Don't or stay stagnant.
- 44:21And thank you, Vicki, for this.
- 44:25Yeah.
- 44:27So back on the original subject,
- 44:29do you need a chip on your shoulder
- 44:31to be successful?
- 44:33And I think from you guys,
- 44:34I'm hearing that it can be a positive
- 44:37thing,
- 44:37but it can also be a negative thing
- 44:41depending on how you use it.
- 44:44And what Colton did at crash,
- 44:47he used it in a good way and
- 44:49he's able to walk the line.
- 44:53He's able to walk the line between the
- 44:56chip being used in the right way and
- 44:59not leak into his day-to-day life.
- 45:03Um,
- 45:03and I think others have used it as
- 45:05well and maybe not as successfully.
- 45:09Um, uh, Corey, I don't need a chip,
- 45:14but I damn sure have a chip.

- 46:20Then I've explained to my coworkers why
- 46:22I'm talking about CrossFit in Teams
- 46:26meetings.

- 46:39Maybe Corey and I will talk about that
- 46:42tomorrow.
- 46:44Talk about the why.
- 46:46That's my favorite question to ask
- 46:48athletes,

- 46:51question to answer myself.
- 46:57So, yeah, that's fun.

- 47:02it around on me.
