- 0:09Speaker 1: Hey, there you are, locked and loaded on another edition
- 0:12Speaker 1: of Birds Weekly, powered by the Inside the Birds Network.
- 0:16Speaker 1: That man, the historian, the legend, the Hall of Famer
- 0:19Speaker 1: is Ray Dittinger. I'm Derek Gunn And as Jalen Hurts
- 0:22Speaker 1: walked off the field after Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings,
- 0:27Speaker 1: you can hear him saying, we're not losers anymore, and
- 0:30Speaker 1: they're not. They snapped the two game slide to beat
- 0:32Speaker 1: the Vikings twenty eight twenty two.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Ray.
- 0:34Speaker 1: But before we get to the x's and o's and
- 0:37Speaker 1: the pluses and minuses of this game, breaking news starts
- 0:40Speaker 1: to surface on Sunday, and it seems to be truer
- 0:44Speaker 1: and truer as we get further further along that our
- 0:46Speaker 1: old friend and two times Super Bowl champion Brandon Graham
- 0:51Speaker 1: could be coming out of retirement to help this team,
- 0:55Speaker 1: and boy, it need some help because they have eleven
- 0:58Speaker 1: quarterback sacks, only one by an edge Russian and that's
- 1:01Speaker 1: from the Zadarius Smith. He's no longer with the team, right,
- 1:06Speaker 1: But it also tells you Ray, how little there was
- 1:08Speaker 1: out there that Howie Roseman had to choose from that
- 1:11Speaker 1: he had to go dig in the closet and bring
- 1:14Speaker 1: back b g Now we're still waiting to confirm this,
- 1:17Speaker 1: but your thoughts on Brandon Graham even considering coming back
- 1:21Speaker 1: after being off for eight months and enjoying TV and
- 1:25Speaker 1: podcast and things like that.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I know there was some speculation about this a couple
- 1:32Speaker 3: of weeks ago that this was not this was not
- 1:36Speaker 3: far fetched that this could actually happen. Ultimately, it's his decision.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Does he want to do it? You know, he has
- 1:44Speaker 3: let's face it, he has the perfect exit, right. I mean,
- 1:47Speaker 3: he won the Super Bowl, you know, got the second ring,
- 1:51Speaker 3: had what I thought was one of the most beautiful
- 1:54Speaker 3: exit press conferences ever. I thought, you know what he
- 1:58Speaker 3: said in the auditorium that day in saying his goodbye
- 2:02Speaker 3: was it was really beautiful. I mean it was almost
- 2:05Speaker 3: poetic the way he went out.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Uh and.
- 2:09Speaker 3: You know, turn took to the media, all the reporters
- 2:12Speaker 3: that were there, and instead of instead of turning it
- 2:15Speaker 3: around on them and saying, you guys try to bury me,
- 2:18Speaker 3: you guys said I was a bust and uh he didn't.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You know, he said, listen, you guys made me accountable
- 2:25Speaker 3: and you guys helped drive me to have the career
- 2:27Speaker 3: that I had and actually thanked them. These guys were
- 2:31Speaker 3: them at one time, of which, hey listen, I was
- 2:34Speaker 3: one of them too. You know I wanted Earl Thomas,
- 2:36Speaker 3: I'll admit it. So but he didn't. You know, there
- 2:39Speaker 3: was no And I don't think it's his nature. I mean,
- 2:42Speaker 3: he just doesn't have a mean bone in his body.
- 2:44Speaker 3: And he just wanted to go out, take the high
- 2:46Speaker 3: road on the way out, and he did, and then
- 2:50Speaker 3: he had that beautiful final line where he said that
- 2:54Speaker 3: my life changed when I came to this magical place, Philadelphia.
- 2:59Speaker 3: You know, I've seen a lot of athletes come and
- 3:00Speaker 3: go in this town. I've never seen any of them
- 3:03Speaker 3: refer to Philadelphia as this magical place, but he did.
- 3:07Speaker 3: So it was the perfect, the perfect way to go out,
- 3:10Speaker 3: And who would blame him if he chose to just
- 3:13Speaker 3: you know what, I'm going to leave it at that,
- 3:15Speaker 3: But I think part of it is his loyalty to
- 3:19Speaker 3: the team that they're the only team he's known. He's
- 3:23Speaker 3: had his whole career here. Regardless of what happens, whether
- 3:27Speaker 3: he comes back or does it, he will always be
- 3:28Speaker 3: beloved in this town. But you know, I think that
- 3:31Speaker 3: he has that little bit of a inside of him
- 3:34Speaker 3: that he knows this team needs help right now at
- 3:38Speaker 3: the position that he once played. And I think, Derek,
- 3:43Speaker 3: I think he's going to do it, really, I really do.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And you know what, I think he can help because,
- 3:50Speaker 3: let's face it, I mean they are just short on
- 3:52Speaker 3: bodies right up there now. I mean, they'll get an
- 3:54Speaker 3: Olan Smith back, you know. I mean he's not out
- 3:56Speaker 3: for the year. He'll be back at some point, but
- 3:58Speaker 3: right now they need help on the edge, you know.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And even if it's just you know, fifteen snaps a game,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I think I think Brandon could help, you you know.
- 4:08Speaker 3: And it's the timing of it is kind of good.
- 4:10Speaker 3: You know, you got the buy coming up, so you
- 4:12Speaker 3: got that extra weekend there for him to kind of
- 4:14Speaker 3: work and get ready to come back and then come
- 4:17Speaker 3: back with a Monday night game and Lambeau. You know,
- 4:20Speaker 3: right now, if you were to ask me to bet it,
- 4:23Speaker 3: I'm thinking he's going to come back. And if he
- 4:26Speaker 3: wants to and his family's okay with it, fine by me.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I think beyond just the physical element and presence of
- 4:34Speaker 1: having him back on the field, his value extends far
- 4:38Speaker 1: beyond that. He is locker room leadership, his mentorship. He's
- 4:43Speaker 1: always been like a big brother to younger players who
- 4:47Speaker 1: have come in through the organization. He is the perfect
- 4:50Speaker 1: ambassador for the Philadelphia Eagle. He is everything that Howie
- 4:53Speaker 1: Roseman and Jeffrey Lewis want as an ambassador for that organization.
- 4:59Speaker 1: He is everybody his friend. He is one of the
- 5:02Speaker 1: He is one of the nicest trash talkers you have
- 5:05Speaker 1: ever seen in the National Football League. I mean, there's
- 5:08Speaker 1: no there's no Fletcher Cox now to to calm him
- 5:11Speaker 1: down and shut him up during a game. So he
- 5:13Speaker 1: eatn freelance, but he's one of the best trash talkers
- 5:17Speaker 1: out there. But he keeps it clean and he keeps
- 5:20Speaker 1: it above above the bubb sea level. He doesn't get
- 5:24Speaker 1: dirty or personal with it. But I just think his
- 5:26Speaker 1: presence alone in that locker room, he is a breath
- 5:29Speaker 1: of breath of fresh air and as you said, much
- 5:33Speaker 1: needed because the the edge position on this team is
- 5:36Speaker 1: non existent. When you look at this team now, they
- 5:39Speaker 1: have eleven QB sacks. Only eleven QB sacks and only
- 5:42Speaker 1: one from an edge rusher. That's shocking and it just
- 5:46Speaker 1: tells you how much they're hurting from the players they
- 5:49Speaker 1: lost during last season's free agency period. And I know
- 5:55Speaker 1: they're gonna pay him a decent buck. He won't kill
- 5:57Speaker 1: them financially. And if he comes back, like you said, Ray,
- 6:02Speaker 1: when you said fifteen snaps, I was thinking that exactly.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I can't see them playing him more than fifteen snap
- 6:07Speaker 1: Well maybe in past rushing situations, which is what he's
- 6:10Speaker 1: perfect for coming off that edge.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Oh, I agree, I agree, And you know I remember, jeez,
- 6:17Speaker 3: I guess it was after Week one. I guess it
- 6:19Speaker 3: was after the opener of the Dallas game when Jalen
- 6:22Speaker 3: Carter had that kerfluffle with Dak Prescott before the game
- 6:27Speaker 3: even really started and got himself kicked out of the game.
- 6:30Speaker 3: One of the things that you and I talked about
- 6:32Speaker 3: was that this defense it's so young now because all
- 6:37Speaker 3: of those veterans are gone, and saying, you know, a
- 6:40Speaker 3: real veteran leader at that moment may have been able
- 6:43Speaker 3: to step in there and take and take Jalen Carter
- 6:46Speaker 3: and take you know, come on, don't be doing don't
- 6:48Speaker 3: be doing something stupid. Now get yourself thrown out of
- 6:50Speaker 3: the game. I might have saved him at that moment.
- 6:52Speaker 3: You know, if you had that veteran guy there to
- 6:55Speaker 3: do that, and you and I were post speculating. Look,
- 6:58Speaker 3: I think they got some good young players there. I
- 7:00Speaker 3: think they got talent there. But who's the leader on
- 7:03Speaker 3: this defense now? With Cocks going and with Slave going
- 7:07Speaker 3: and with BG going, well, you know, I mean, if
- 7:11Speaker 3: BG can come back and give them that twelve to
- 7:14Speaker 3: fifteen snaps a game, but also be that veteran leader
- 7:19Speaker 3: for that team, I think it makes him better. I
- 7:23Speaker 3: think it helps Now Ultimately, he has to decide if
- 7:26Speaker 3: he wants to put himself through this again, if he
- 7:28Speaker 3: feels like physically he's capable of doing it again. But
- 7:33Speaker 3: I would like to see him do it. I mean,
- 7:36Speaker 3: if it works for him, it works for me. And
- 7:38Speaker 3: I really do think that he will give you some
- 7:40Speaker 3: pass rush there. He would help you give you all
- 7:43Speaker 3: something off the edge. But I also think in terms
- 7:45Speaker 3: of what you kind of alluded to, that veteran leader
- 7:48Speaker 3: on the defense, I think he would fill that role beautifully.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Well, that story coming out is shocking enough in itself.
- 7:54Speaker 1: The second biggest story is the name. Jalen Hurts is
- 7:59Speaker 1: son out of with Perfect On this particular Sunday against
- 8:04Speaker 1: the Minnesota Vikings nineteen of twenty three three hundred and
- 8:06Speaker 1: twenty six yards, three touchdowns in a perfect QB rating
- 8:10Speaker 1: a one point fifty eight point three, only the third
- 8:13Speaker 1: Eagles quarterback in history to ever achieve that lofty Accolade rate.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Two questions of one, was this the best passing game
- 8:23Speaker 1: you've ever seen from Jalen Hurts or is it second
- 8:26Speaker 1: to what he did in the Super Bowl this year
- 8:29Speaker 1: against Kansas City.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I think it's I think it's comparable. But maybe, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 3: if one game is the Super Bowl, so maybe you
- 8:38Speaker 3: got to sort of give it up to the super
- 8:40Speaker 3: Bowl just because of the magnitude of the game. But
- 8:44Speaker 3: this won a Super Bowl. But it sure felt like
- 8:47Speaker 3: a big game to me, you know, given where this
- 8:49Speaker 3: team was. I mean, they needed they needed a big effort,
- 8:55Speaker 3: and they needed a big effort from the quarterback and
- 8:57Speaker 3: he gave them one. And you're right, I mean, by
- 9:01Speaker 3: the statistical measure of passer rating quarterback efficiency rating, that
- 9:06Speaker 3: one fifty eight point three is a very rare number
- 9:09Speaker 3: and it's only been Nick Foles had at the one
- 9:12Speaker 3: time that he threw the seven touchdown passes out in
- 9:15Speaker 3: Oakland to Tyler Record and the other one was was
- 9:19Speaker 3: was Donovan a game against Detroit, that game when they
- 9:23Speaker 3: unveiled those horrible yellow uniforms. He did it that day too.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And now you've got this game. We've seen a lot
- 9:34Speaker 3: of really good quarterback play here, but we've only seen
- 9:36Speaker 3: three games now that reached that level, and this was
- 9:39Speaker 3: one of them. And he was great. I mean, he
- 9:42Speaker 3: was really really great. I mean, we could talk about
- 9:44Speaker 3: the deep balls that he hit and they were beautiful throws,
- 9:48Speaker 3: but you know, but to me, what was maybe even
- 9:50Speaker 3: the bigger one was the third and thirteen when he
- 9:53Speaker 3: scrambled out, got away from the pressure at a time
- 9:56Speaker 3: when let's face it, that game was kind of like
- 9:59Speaker 3: this and you didn't want to give the ball back
- 10:02Speaker 3: to Minnesota in that spot, and he gets out of
- 10:05Speaker 3: the pocket, extends the play. Aj Brown does a really
- 10:09Speaker 3: good job of coming back to the ball but staying
- 10:12Speaker 3: at the sticks, and Jalen hits him with the perfect
- 10:17Speaker 3: pass and they convert that first down and then go
- 10:20Speaker 3: in for the touchdown that really kind of gets control
- 10:23Speaker 3: of the game. But that was I mean, it doesn't
- 10:25Speaker 3: go up. It's not quite on the level of the
- 10:28Speaker 3: touchdown passes, but in the ebb and flow of the game,
- 10:32Speaker 3: huge play, and he made it and he was he
- 10:36Speaker 3: was there was that one stretch after the opening drive.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Then in the second quarter, the offense, as they have
- 10:42Speaker 3: done all year, just kind of went flat. And then
- 10:45Speaker 3: but then in the second half, man, he came out
- 10:47Speaker 3: smoking and took a part what has been up to
- 10:51Speaker 3: this point a very good Minnesota defense against the pass.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I mean, nobody was throwing the ball successfully against this defense.
- 10:59Speaker 3: And he went out in the second half and he
- 11:02Speaker 3: just lit him up.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Hey, you know that one guy in the group chat
- 11:05Speaker 4: who hit a five leg parlay Week one and he
- 11:08Speaker 4: wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Sounds like Kaplan, right, yeah, Yeah, it.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Could be him.
- 11:13Speaker 4: It could be you, and we would all want to

- 13:36Speaker 1: You know I'm going to ask this question a number
- 13:39Speaker 1: of times since the game's ended, and I can't give
- 13:43Speaker 1: anybody a definitive answer, So I'll ask you, my friend,
- 13:46Speaker 1: We've seen Gentulin have stellar passing games before, but why
- 13:51Speaker 1: can't he do this consistently? We see him beat the
- 13:54Speaker 1: blitz some games like immaculately, and then other games it's
- 13:59Speaker 1: like the first time he's ever seen a blitz. What
- 14:02Speaker 1: do you think is this stumbling block?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Right?
- 14:04Speaker 1: In terms of not being more consistent putting up numbers
- 14:08Speaker 1: like this. Now, granted, last year they relied on a
- 14:10Speaker 1: running game, but he's at his opportunities to have big
- 14:13Speaker 1: passing games.
- 14:14Speaker 2: A few times he has, many times he has not.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yeah, good question.
- 14:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I mean, he's working with the same group of receivers
- 14:22Speaker 3: and as a group they're excellent. I mean, you saw
- 14:26Speaker 3: how good Brown and Smith are. We know, oh surprise,
- 14:32Speaker 3: I mean we knew that. He certainly saw it on Sunday.
- 14:35Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Goddard to me is one of the five or six
- 14:37Speaker 3: best tight ends in the league. So he's got those
- 14:39Speaker 3: guys out there from week to week. Yeah, I don't know.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I mean last year was an odd year in a
- 14:45Speaker 3: sense that the way this offense, the way this offense
- 14:49Speaker 3: kind of hit the reset button four weeks and decided
- 14:54Speaker 3: we're gonna start running the ball, you know, all of
- 14:56Speaker 3: a sudden, Jalen's role became a different role, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 3: and he, I mean, he didn't like the idea when
- 15:04Speaker 3: people said he was you know, that he was just
- 15:07Speaker 3: a game manager, that he was just a facilitator, that
- 15:11Speaker 3: the at the key to the offense was Saquon Barkley.
- 15:16Speaker 3: But when he came to the Super Bowl and you
- 15:19Speaker 3: and the Kansasity Chiefs really put the clamps on Saquon
- 15:21Speaker 3: Barkley and you needed your quarterback to step up. He
- 15:24Speaker 3: did big time. We've certainly seen that. I think last
- 15:27Speaker 3: year was just sort of a change because the offense
- 15:30Speaker 3: changed and he had to change his role within it.
- 15:32Speaker 3: But to me, he's been you know, I think he's
- 15:36Speaker 3: been more. I think he's been better than people give
- 15:40Speaker 3: him credit for. To be honest with you, I really do.
- 15:43Speaker 3: I just feel like, and listen, those of us that
- 15:46Speaker 3: have been in this town for a long time, following
- 15:48Speaker 3: this team for a long time, Quarterbacks in this town,
- 15:53Speaker 3: they don't get cut a lot of brakes, you know.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I mean, it really is very much a week to
- 15:57Speaker 3: week existence that you're on. You know, the last couple
- 16:00Speaker 3: of games, Yeah you were good, you were good, and
- 16:02Speaker 3: then have one bad game and all of a sudden,
- 16:04Speaker 3: I don't know if this guy is the guy. I mean,
- 16:06Speaker 3: how many times have we heard that said about everybody?
- 16:09Speaker 3: You know, said about Fowle, said about Wins. I mean
- 16:11Speaker 3: I remember him saying it, you know, about Sonny Jurgensen,
- 16:14Speaker 3: I mean back in the day. I mean, so they've
- 16:16Speaker 3: all gone through it. I think it goes with the
- 16:19Speaker 3: scrutiny that goes at the position that sometimes you're hyper criticized,
- 16:24Speaker 3: and I think in this town it's maybe a little
- 16:26Speaker 3: bit worse than most. But to me, I mean, if
- 16:29Speaker 3: you just look at the numbers that this guy's put
- 16:31Speaker 3: up over time, the passing numbers, yes, but most of
- 16:35Speaker 3: all the numbers of wins versus losses. I mean, I
- 16:39Speaker 3: think he's been an outstanding quarterback. And in this game
- 16:42Speaker 3: where listen, I mean, you and I both used the
- 16:45Speaker 3: term looking ahead to this game at the end of
- 16:48Speaker 3: last week. You and I both refer to this as
- 16:51Speaker 3: a crossroads game to this team coming off the two.
- 16:55Speaker 3: But I consider bad losses the Denver loss and the
- 16:58Speaker 3: horrible loss in New York. Yeah, a lot of question
- 17:00Speaker 3: about here we go. It's twenty twenty three again. I
- 17:03Speaker 3: mean that feeling was out there, Derek and a lot
- 17:05Speaker 3: of people were saying it. And on a day when listen,
- 17:08Speaker 3: he wasn't getting any help from the running game. I mean,
- 17:10Speaker 3: it was really all on him, and the second half
- 17:13Speaker 3: there he got you a win that you needed to
- 17:15Speaker 3: keep your season going.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, they opened a game with a twelve play seventy
- 17:21Speaker 1: five yard drive. They chew up eight minutes one second
- 17:24Speaker 1: on the clock. They converted two fourth downs and of
- 17:28Speaker 1: course the kapra was a fourth and four. Jalen Bias
- 17:31Speaker 1: time and you see him, You see him motioning his
- 17:34Speaker 1: hand to Aj to go, just go flups a beautiful
- 17:37Speaker 1: strength to aj fourth thirty seven yard touchdown.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I tell you what Ray.
- 17:44Speaker 1: In terms of command, and that time he told Aj
- 17:48Speaker 1: to go wasn't the only time he threw a little
- 17:50Speaker 1: hand signal ladder receiver. He did the same thing to
- 17:52Speaker 1: Devonte Smith at one point in the game as well.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You talk about synchronized man, if they could just do
- 17:58Speaker 1: that consistently, I think people wouldn't worry so much about
- 18:02Speaker 1: the running game if that aerial attack was as potent
- 18:05Speaker 1: as it was Sunday against the Vikings.
- 18:07Speaker 3: M Yeah, I think so. And that was a beautiful drive.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I mean, they actually ran the ball pretty successfully in that.
- 18:18Speaker 3: But the big players are through the passing game, and
- 18:20Speaker 3: every phase of the offense just seemed to be in
- 18:23Speaker 3: sync there.
- 18:24Speaker 2: I mean, that's you.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Know, that's the one thing that you and I both
- 18:26Speaker 3: talked about over these shows is you know, there doesn't
- 18:29Speaker 3: seem to be any rhythm in this offense. There doesn't
- 18:31Speaker 3: seem to be any real flow to this offense. You know,
- 18:35Speaker 3: they hit a play here, they hit a play there,
- 18:37Speaker 3: but there's nothing that feels consistent. But that that was
- 18:42Speaker 3: I mean, that was one of those Everything was just
- 18:44Speaker 3: clicking and you just moved it down the field and
- 18:46Speaker 3: you had the feeling watching them good. They're going to
- 18:48Speaker 3: score a touchdown here. I don't know if it's going
- 18:50Speaker 3: to be a runner or pass, but they're they're taking
- 18:51Speaker 3: it in the end zone here because you just felt that.
- 18:54Speaker 3: You know, I hadn't felt that for this offense really
- 18:57Speaker 3: all year, but you felt it there. And then over
- 19:00Speaker 3: the next three or four possessions it goes away again.
- 19:03Speaker 3: But it was certainly there and that one. But you're right.
- 19:06Speaker 3: I mean I thought that Hertz threw some and he
- 19:09Speaker 3: throws a great deep.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Ball, really grows.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Deep ball, which is why over the last couple of
- 19:14Speaker 3: weeks and these two losses. I mean, he had guys
- 19:18Speaker 3: wide open and missed him. He had Smith wide open
- 19:21Speaker 3: in one game and missed him, I mean, wide wide open,
- 19:24Speaker 3: just as open as he was here and missed him.
- 19:27Speaker 3: And a similar thing with Brown had Brown wide open
- 19:30Speaker 3: and missed him. He doesn't normally do that. He normally
- 19:34Speaker 3: is very good on the deep ball, and in this
- 19:36Speaker 3: game he had five throws that were more than twenty
- 19:39Speaker 3: yards in the air and he hit all five of them.
- 19:42Speaker 3: There aren't many quarterbacks in the league they'll go five
- 19:44Speaker 3: for five on a twenty airball, but he did it.
- 19:47Speaker 3: And that's pretty much the way he was, especially the
- 19:50Speaker 3: whole second half. He was really on point.
- 19:52Speaker 1: You know, after that opening scoring drive, they had four
- 19:55Speaker 1: consecutive possessions to get nothing. And I don't know about you,
- 19:59Speaker 1: I'm sitting there at halftime going, are you kidding me?
- 20:01Speaker 1: Are we gonna have to go through this again where
- 20:04Speaker 1: they can't find their way? But luckily that was not
- 20:07Speaker 1: the case. But you know, there's still certain elements of
- 20:12Speaker 1: this offense that are not that are not clicking. I
- 20:16Speaker 1: don't know if you attributed to, as you know, Joy
- 20:18Speaker 1: Malotta said last week, lack of focus. I don't know
- 20:21Speaker 1: if it's what Lane Johnson said, predictability. But there's still
- 20:26Speaker 1: uneven ground here in terms of finding that smooth road
- 20:30Speaker 1: and getting this offense to be that consistent machine that
- 20:33Speaker 1: we all expected to.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Be right and and ultimately need to be yes. I mean,
- 20:38Speaker 3: if if the real endgame here is getting back to
- 20:42Speaker 3: the Super Bowl and winning it, then you need to
- 20:45Speaker 3: have that, you know. I mean, you're five and two
- 20:48Speaker 3: now against what has been a pretty tough schedule. I'll
- 20:50Speaker 3: give them that, but yeah, do you really think this
- 20:55Speaker 3: team is going to win a Super Bowl another Super
- 20:57Speaker 3: Bowl go back to back with Saquon Barkley average two
- 21:00Speaker 3: and a half yards of carry. I don't think so.
- 21:02Speaker 3: You know, they have to work that out. But one
- 21:04Speaker 3: of the things that they did introduce in this game,
- 21:09Speaker 3: which I think kind of addresses the Lane Johnson point
- 21:13Speaker 3: that you mentioned about the predictability. I mean, this game
- 21:16Speaker 3: they actually had they actually had Hurts under center more.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty snaps under center.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Which now I don't know how much of that maybe
- 21:25Speaker 3: had to do with having to change the center, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 3: maybe they were a little less confident with Toth in
- 21:30Speaker 3: there as opposed to Jurgens about his ability to make
- 21:33Speaker 3: the longer snap. Maybe that had some bearing on the
- 21:36Speaker 3: idea that they put Hurts under center more. Or maybe
- 21:38Speaker 3: it was just a tactical thing where they wanted to
- 21:41Speaker 3: give the defense a different look and in my view
- 21:44Speaker 3: more importantly set up play action, you know, I mean,
- 21:48Speaker 3: it's a lot easier and more effective I think to
- 21:51Speaker 3: do play action with the quarterback being under center. I
- 21:54Speaker 3: just think it works better that way. And you know,
- 21:57Speaker 3: you watched NFL games all week, you watch multiple games,
- 22:02Speaker 3: and you watch the highlight shows. I mean, most of
- 22:04Speaker 3: your big plays in the passing game are play action plays.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I mean that's play action sets up the deep ball
- 22:10Speaker 3: all the time, it does for most teams. And coming
- 22:12Speaker 3: into this game, the Eagles had run had fewer snaps
- 22:16Speaker 3: with a quarterback under center than any team in football.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I mean, they had become really typecast as a viewer
- 22:22Speaker 3: shotgun team. And I think the kind of if you
- 22:26Speaker 3: read between the lines of what Lane Johnson was saying,
- 22:29Speaker 3: I think that was certainly one of the things he
- 22:30Speaker 3: was talking about was I think we're kind of got
- 22:32Speaker 3: ourselves painted ourselves into a corner here and put the
- 22:36Speaker 3: quarterback under center, and it opens up another whole phase
- 22:39Speaker 3: of the passing game. And certainly in this game you
- 22:43Speaker 3: really saw I thought it worked a lot. And you know,
- 22:46Speaker 3: now as the New York Giants again as your next opponent,
- 22:50Speaker 3: now they got to think about that. Whereas a week ago.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Maybe they didn't.

- 25:00Speaker 1: You were talking about the center position. When cam Jurgens
- 25:03Speaker 1: went down with a knee injury. Saque had six carries
- 25:06Speaker 1: for twenty eight yards. Brett Tooth comes in and Saque
- 25:10Speaker 1: has twelve carries for fourteen yards. I don't know if
- 25:14Speaker 1: there's a definitive answer to the center position, and obviously
- 25:17Speaker 1: the center position is the engine that runs that offensive line.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Yeah, well I have a suggestion, Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 2: No, do say those say it.
- 25:28Speaker 3: We're bringing BG out of retirement. How about how about
- 25:33Speaker 3: how about Jason Kelsey?
- 25:34Speaker 2: Geez?
- 25:36Speaker 3: I mean, look, I mean, I'm I'm kidding, but I'm
- 25:40Speaker 3: not kidding. I mean, I know, I know he's got
- 25:43Speaker 3: like a million things going on, and it's it's probably
- 25:47Speaker 3: not even it's probably not even a realistic thing to
- 25:50Speaker 3: even float. But honestly, honestly, with the uncertainty, now about
- 25:55Speaker 3: what if when Jurgon's coming back, if he's coming back,
- 25:59Speaker 3: and what the that means to the offensive line as
- 26:01Speaker 3: a whole, because Derek, they don't have a lot of
- 26:03Speaker 3: depth up there, They really don't. And you know, in
- 26:07Speaker 3: the context of talking about Branda gre coming back, it
- 26:11Speaker 3: actually occurred to me, would Howie actually plays plays a
- 26:15Speaker 3: call to to to the Kelsey house and say, uh, oh,
- 26:20Speaker 3: can I talk to Jason for a moment. I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 3: I think I don't think it's going to happen, but
- 26:26Speaker 3: it occurred to me. But assuming that isn't assuming that's
- 26:29Speaker 3: not on the table, Okay, uh You're gonna have to
- 26:32Speaker 3: find an answer somewhere, and you know, what do you do?
- 26:36Speaker 3: I mean, is it going It would be toth? I
- 26:38Speaker 3: mean you could if you wanted to. I mean, you
- 26:40Speaker 3: could put Dickerson at center, which he certainly played at Alabama,
- 26:44Speaker 3: and I think you'd probably be more comfortable with him
- 26:46Speaker 3: handling the shotgun snap. But you know, now you're moving
- 26:51Speaker 3: him to another position when he's much he's obviously an
- 26:55Speaker 3: All Pro guard. Is that a more feasible option? And
- 26:59Speaker 3: if that's the case, where's you know, what position can
- 27:03Speaker 3: Tooth play at this point? To be honest with you,
- 27:05Speaker 3: I mean, he's had some opportunities and you know, he
- 27:09Speaker 3: hasn't been very good and yeah, and I know that
- 27:12Speaker 3: the coaches have talked about always doing a good job. Well,
- 27:15Speaker 3: I mean there's I'm not so sure. I mean, if
- 27:17Speaker 3: if this, if Jurgens really isn't an option for them
- 27:20Speaker 3: right now. And listen, Jurgons has had his problems this
- 27:23Speaker 3: year too. I think it looked to me like he's
- 27:26Speaker 3: been trying to overcome this back thing all season. Uh,
- 27:30Speaker 3: and he's had trouble too. But they have to find
- 27:33Speaker 3: some answers in there, you know, Johnson and mylotta. I think,
- 27:38Speaker 3: I think you're fine on the outside, but the interior there,
- 27:43Speaker 3: which is a big part of the of the Barkley
- 27:45Speaker 3: game and a big part of the running game, just
- 27:47Speaker 3: hasn't been able to move people off the line of scrimmage.
- 27:49Speaker 3: And you know, losing your starting center isn't going to help.
- 27:52Speaker 3: They have to find an answer there now, and I
- 27:55Speaker 3: don't know, you know, I'm sure they're thinking about moving
- 27:58Speaker 3: Dickerson over, but there's probably some there's probably some sentiment
- 28:02Speaker 3: that no, let's just leave Himcguart. We know he's a
- 28:04Speaker 3: really good guard, and we'll just we'll just we'll just
- 28:08Speaker 3: do what we have to do at center. But it's
- 28:11Speaker 3: a less an ideal situation. You and I talked about
- 28:14Speaker 3: it back at the end of the preseason, you know, saying, Okay,
- 28:18Speaker 3: we've had four preseason games to look at this team.
- 28:20Speaker 3: What do you think? And and one of the things
- 28:24Speaker 3: I think we both talked about was, look, none of
- 28:26Speaker 3: the none of the starting offensive lineman played, so we
- 28:29Speaker 3: had a good long look at the backups, and I
- 28:32Speaker 3: wasn't sure that if if they had injuries on the
- 28:34Speaker 3: offensive line, that they had the guys that could step
- 28:36Speaker 3: in and play effectively, and I think we've seen that
- 28:39Speaker 3: to this point.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Can we talk about our old friend Carson Wentz for
- 28:45Speaker 1: just a moment. I mean, Carson Wentz is going to
- 28:48Speaker 1: do what Carson Wentz does, and Sunday I think basically
- 28:52Speaker 1: showed why he's with his sixth team in the last
- 28:55Speaker 1: six years. You talk about some bone hitted plays. Now
- 28:58Speaker 1: he made some decent plays, some decent throws, but too
- 29:01Speaker 1: in particular and back to back series. First of all,
- 29:03Speaker 1: he throws that pick six to Jlex Hunt, and granted
- 29:07Speaker 1: Jalen Carter barreled down on him and and forced him
- 29:10Speaker 1: to make that throw.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I would have thrown the ball away.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And secondly, he rolls right and throws up the equivalent
- 29:15Speaker 1: of a punt that's picked up by Macomba.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And I'm thinking.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Kevin o'downs, Kevin o'donnand's got O'Connell has had some problem,
- 29:26Speaker 1: he's got some problems with the quarterback situation until he
- 29:28Speaker 1: can get JJ McCarthy back, because Carson Wentz ain't the answer.
- 29:33Speaker 3: I mean, they had some TV cutaways to the Viking
- 29:37Speaker 3: sidelines and some of the looks on O'Connell's face after
- 29:40Speaker 3: some of those plays. I mean you could just read
- 29:42Speaker 3: his mind. It was like, what are you thinking? You know,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I mean a couple of those plays and to your
- 29:48Speaker 3: point when you said a moment, I mean there are
- 29:49Speaker 3: stretches where he actually played pretty good. Yeah, but isn't
- 29:53Speaker 3: that what we've seen with this guy before? Yes, you
- 29:56Speaker 3: know it was, I mean it was it was for
- 29:58Speaker 3: Eagles fans watching, it really was flashback to those days,
- 30:03Speaker 3: because Wentz had stretches like that where he would play
- 30:06Speaker 3: really good for a while and at the end of
- 30:09Speaker 3: the day you look at his numbers and say, oh, yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 3: pretty good. You know, look at how you threw for
- 30:13Speaker 3: three hundred yards and blah blah blah. But there would
- 30:16Speaker 3: always be those three or four plays in the middle
- 30:18Speaker 3: of it that were just like, what are you doing?
- 30:21Speaker 3: And I mean the intentional grounding down in the red
- 30:24Speaker 3: zone was just I mean, that's one of those players
- 30:27Speaker 3: here just you have no idea what he was thinking.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Because there's a receiver that's open in the left flat,
- 30:34Speaker 3: I mean wide open. And it's not like he doesn't
- 30:37Speaker 3: see him. I mean there's a point where he looks
- 30:39Speaker 3: and you can almost tell he sees him. He doesn't
- 30:42Speaker 3: throw it, he holds it, and now he's really in trouble.
- 30:46Speaker 3: And now I'm just okay, I'm not gonna I'm not
- 30:48Speaker 3: I'm not going to take the sack. I'm just going
- 30:49Speaker 3: to ground it, grounding it in the red zone, taking
- 30:53Speaker 3: that penalty and loss it down. I mean, that's the
- 30:55Speaker 3: kind of play. If it was a rookie free agent,
- 30:59Speaker 3: you know, from Franklin Marshall or something, you'd say, well,
- 31:02Speaker 3: that's what you get. But you know, a ten year veteran.
- 31:06Speaker 3: I mean, but I you know, you wonder at this
- 31:11Speaker 3: point and the Vikings are by no means out of it.
- 31:14Speaker 3: I mean, they're still hanging in there. I mean, you
- 31:16Speaker 3: wonder if the Vikings, and I'm sure it's being asked
- 31:19Speaker 3: out in Minnesota, you know, wouldn't we have been better
- 31:22Speaker 3: off keeping Daniel Jones? I mean if I mean, you
- 31:26Speaker 3: look at the way Daniel Jones is playing in Indianapolis. Yeah,
- 31:29Speaker 3: and they're thinking, well, we could have kept him, but
- 31:31Speaker 3: we decided to just let him go because we want
- 31:34Speaker 3: to commit to McCarthy and okay, we'll just go get
- 31:36Speaker 3: wins as a backup. You could have kept a guy
- 31:38Speaker 3: who's in the discussion for MVP right now, because you know,
- 31:42Speaker 3: I was never the world's biggest Daniel Jones fan, and
- 31:46Speaker 3: we saw him plenty in the NFC East, but you
- 31:49Speaker 3: got to give it up to him right now. I mean,
- 31:50Speaker 3: he's I mean, he's balling out there in Indianapolis, and
- 31:54Speaker 3: you know, for the for the first couple of weeks,
- 31:56Speaker 3: I was I was saying, oh, come on, he's you know,
- 31:59Speaker 3: at some point he's going to do you just want
- 32:00Speaker 3: to turn into Daniel Jones again? Maybe not, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 3: I mean, the Vikings had a couple of other options.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I mean, they had the kid that used to be
- 32:10Speaker 3: with the Jets.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Now you got me thinking that sad.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Yes, yes, they had him and Daniel Jones, and they
- 32:21Speaker 3: let them both go and they're both playing really well,
- 32:24Speaker 3: and they wanted to commit to McCarthy the young guy. Okay,
- 32:27Speaker 3: I kind of get that. But look where you are now,
- 32:30Speaker 3: and you know, I'm thinking as an Eagles as somebody
- 32:33Speaker 3: from Philadelphia who watched all of Carson Wentz's time here,
- 32:36Speaker 3: and they're the organization's commitment to he is our franchise quarterback,
- 32:41Speaker 3: and that level of frustration that came with watching him
- 32:44Speaker 3: week after week after week all but for the twenty
- 32:47Speaker 3: seventeen season, but every week that followed. Boy watching that
- 32:51Speaker 3: game one Sunday, it brought back memories.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Hey, good to see the Kobe Dean back in the middle.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Finally he was in on six tackles and a tackle
- 32:59Speaker 1: for a lot ray. His ability to disrupt straight ahead
- 33:03Speaker 1: is his lateral pursuit in terms of tracking down ball runners.
- 33:08Speaker 1: It's still a work in progress overall, but having him
- 33:11Speaker 1: back in there sure does help calm things down a bit.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and I thought he played really good, yes, for
- 33:18Speaker 3: his first game back. I know he played some special
- 33:19Speaker 3: teams the week before in the Giants game, but this
- 33:22Speaker 3: is his first time really back in the defense, and
- 33:25Speaker 3: I thought he made a difference.
- 33:26Speaker 2: I mean, there were a.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Couple aspects of it. Just having him there on the
- 33:29Speaker 3: field I think helps because I think he's a really
- 33:31Speaker 3: smart and effective player. But the other part of it
- 33:35Speaker 3: was having him there allowed Vic Fangio to move Jahad
- 33:40Speaker 3: Campbell over to the edge and let him play more
- 33:43Speaker 3: as an edge rusher, which, as you alluded to a
- 33:45Speaker 3: few moments ago, they need better play on the edge,
- 33:49Speaker 3: So now they could put Campbell out there and let
- 33:51Speaker 3: him do more of that if they had na Kobe
- 33:54Speaker 3: back as linebacker. So yeah, getting him back really helps.
- 33:57Speaker 3: I think that he's such a he's such a smart
- 34:01Speaker 3: and more than smart, just instinctive player. He just sees
- 34:05Speaker 3: the field really well. He finds the ball, and he's
- 34:08Speaker 3: for a team that has been, let's face a not
- 34:10Speaker 3: a great tackling team to this point. I mean, he's
- 34:13Speaker 3: a very effective tackler.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think we can say enough, and we've
- 34:17Speaker 1: we've been given him probably every accolade we can possibly
- 34:20Speaker 1: give him. But but Jalen Carter's presence in the middle
- 34:23Speaker 1: of that defense, I'll tell you what, it makes the
- 34:25Speaker 1: world of a difference. And obviously he gets through, puts
- 34:28Speaker 1: the pressure on Carson Carson throws the picked six. But
- 34:31Speaker 1: you know, when when Jalen Carter's healthy, and we're still
- 34:34Speaker 1: not sure how how close to one hundred percent that
- 34:37Speaker 1: that heel injury is. But I'll tell you what, Jalen
- 34:40Speaker 1: Carter at eighty five ninety percent is better than no
- 34:43Speaker 1: Jalen Carter at all in the trenches, Yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 3: No question. And I mean, what a great what a
- 34:48Speaker 3: great move on the center, you know, that sort of
- 34:51Speaker 3: handover swipe and through uh, and got the pressure on
- 34:55Speaker 3: her on Wentz on the ball, it becomes the pick
- 34:58Speaker 3: six for Hunt. I mean he right in his face
- 35:01Speaker 3: and really and really took him down hard. I mean
- 35:04Speaker 3: you saw Winz getting up from that. He was feeling
- 35:07Speaker 3: it because Wentz actually came into this game with an injury.
- 35:09Speaker 3: He apparently had a pretty a pretty severe shoulder bruise
- 35:14Speaker 3: that he was less than one hundred percent at the
- 35:16Speaker 3: start of the game and taking that big hit didn't help.
- 35:20Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, you see Carter, I mean, he's
- 35:24Speaker 3: one of those guys that just if he's on the field,
- 35:26Speaker 3: just his presence on the field changes everything. I mean
- 35:29Speaker 3: not just the plays that he makes, and he made
- 35:32Speaker 3: plenty as he did there, but the problems he creates
- 35:36Speaker 3: for the offense in terms of the way they have
- 35:38Speaker 3: to concentrate on blocking him and open and creates other
- 35:42Speaker 3: opportunities and better matchups for the other guys up front.
- 35:46Speaker 3: I mean, he's he is a game changer. I mean
- 35:48Speaker 3: there's no question about that. And when he can't play,
- 35:51Speaker 3: they miss him. But it was nice. It was nice
- 35:53Speaker 3: to have him back in this game. And he's you know,
- 35:57Speaker 3: I mean, he's one of the top five or six
- 36:00Speaker 3: defensive interior defensive lineman in the lague. There's no question
- 36:03Speaker 3: about that. And he's been you know, he hasn't been
- 36:06Speaker 3: as dominant this year. I mean he's had he's had
- 36:09Speaker 3: some moments. He's played well in spots, but he hasn't
- 36:12Speaker 3: been I think the player that they wanted him to
- 36:16Speaker 3: be necessarily. I mean, you can kind of see when
- 36:19Speaker 3: Fangio has asked about him, the way he answers the
- 36:23Speaker 3: questions that he's he's sort of he's sort of suggesting
- 36:25Speaker 3: or implying that we kind of need more from him.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Uh.
- 36:29Speaker 3: And I think part of it has been the shoulder
- 36:33Speaker 3: injury early, the heel injury. Now, I think he's been
- 36:35Speaker 3: playing with some with some pain through this. But when
- 36:39Speaker 3: he's when he's healthy and when he's ready to go,
- 36:42Speaker 3: and it certainly appeared that he was on Sunday, Man
- 36:45Speaker 3: he's a game changer, There's no question about that.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I thought probably the best defensive play outside of j
- 36:52Speaker 1: Jalax Hunts I n T Return Cooper Degene is one
- 36:56Speaker 1: on one with Justin Jefferson.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Yeah, feeling that's the when you're going to pull out.
- 37:01Speaker 1: My goodness, I mean, and Jefferson has the ball and
- 37:06Speaker 1: Cooper gets his hand in there and knocks it away.
- 37:08Speaker 1: And even justin after the game said I'm gonna make
- 37:11Speaker 1: that catch. Ninety nine percent of the time I make
- 37:13Speaker 1: that catch. He goes, But kudos to him. You know,
- 37:15Speaker 1: he made a play in the ball and knocked it
- 37:17Speaker 1: away from me. The instinct of this young man in
- 37:20Speaker 1: his second year and not not even two full years
- 37:24Speaker 1: in the NFL, his instinct is way above the IQ
- 37:30Speaker 1: level of what a defensive back should be at this stage.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Just an incredible play. And of course he's a sure tackler.
- 37:36Speaker 1: He does everything that you ask almost perfectly for big
- 37:39Speaker 1: Fangio defense.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Yeah he does. And boy, when you look back on
- 37:45Speaker 3: that draft of last year and your top two picks
- 37:50Speaker 3: are Quinn and Mitchell and Cooper to Jane, I mean
- 37:53Speaker 3: he's bringing two players in the same position. What a
- 37:57Speaker 3: difference they have made. I mean Mitchell had I mean
- 38:00Speaker 3: he missed the previous game with the injury, and he
- 38:04Speaker 3: had him back healthy, and what a difference he made
- 38:08Speaker 3: in that game. I mean you looked at I mean
- 38:11Speaker 3: you look at if you do the breakdown of how
- 38:13Speaker 3: many times he was guarding Jefferson. I mean, I think
- 38:17Speaker 3: Jefferson had like one catch when Mitchell was guarding him
- 38:21Speaker 3: for seven or eight yards now, and a lot of
- 38:25Speaker 3: times they threw away from him. They threw to Addison
- 38:27Speaker 3: on the other side because they would rather throw at
- 38:29Speaker 3: the other corner. They didn't want to throw at Mitchell
- 38:32Speaker 3: very much. And then the gene is is so valuable
- 38:36Speaker 3: because they play him all over the field. They play
- 38:39Speaker 3: they can play him outside if they want to. Most
- 38:42Speaker 3: of the time he plays in the slot. But the
- 38:44Speaker 3: fact is he can guard anybody, you know, I mean
- 38:46Speaker 3: he can he can guard the other team's number one
- 38:48Speaker 3: receiver and make the kind of play that he made
- 38:51Speaker 3: in the end zone, which is that ball's caught. I mean,
- 38:55Speaker 3: you know I've seen Jefferson make that catch forty times,
- 39:00Speaker 3: you know, I mean, he catches that ball, he doesn't
- 39:02Speaker 3: drop that ball, and the Jeans stayed with him and
- 39:05Speaker 3: basically just stripped it from him in the end zone
- 39:08Speaker 3: and saved your touchdown right there. And in a game
- 39:10Speaker 3: like that, that's a big, big play.
- 39:13Speaker 1: This defense is still and I can't emphasize it enough.
- 39:17Speaker 1: It is still a work in progress, but it still
- 39:21Speaker 1: has that ben But don't break Moniker to a certain degree.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I mean they held the Vikings to one for six
- 39:26Speaker 1: in a red zone. I mean, if the Vikings convert
- 39:29Speaker 1: even one more of those who were sitting here talking
- 39:32Speaker 1: about the Eagles in a losing situation more so than
- 39:34Speaker 1: a winning, winning situation. But those are character defining moments.
- 39:38Speaker 1: When you make a stand like that and you've got
- 39:41Speaker 1: Addison on one side, who's torching this team all game,
- 39:44Speaker 1: and you've got a perennial Pro bowler and All Pro
- 39:46Speaker 1: and Justin Jefferson on the other side, and you hold
- 39:49Speaker 1: them to one score. Neither one of those guys are
- 39:51Speaker 1: the guys who put the ball in the end zone.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I think you can walk away saying we did our job.
- 39:55Speaker 1: It wasn't perfect, but we did our job when we
- 39:57Speaker 1: had to do it absolutely.
- 39:59Speaker 3: I mean, well, you you think about and you mentioned
- 40:02Speaker 3: Addison and you mentioned Jefferson, who were really good receivers,
- 40:05Speaker 3: and Hockinson is a very good tight end and a
- 40:09Speaker 3: big target. So I mean they have we were talking
- 40:13Speaker 3: about the Eagles big play receivers. Vikings had them too,
- 40:17Speaker 3: and making to hold them one for six in the
- 40:20Speaker 3: red zone scoring touchdowns, that's pretty good. And yeah, I
- 40:24Speaker 3: mean Vikings got their yards they moved the ball. I mean,
- 40:29Speaker 3: there's another game. Now, seven straight games the Eagles have
- 40:32Speaker 3: been out gained. I mean they have their opponents, they're
- 40:35Speaker 3: five and two, but they've been out gained in every game.
- 40:38Speaker 3: But if you hold the team one for six in
- 40:41Speaker 3: the red zone, you can win that game. And that's
- 40:43Speaker 3: what that's what they did yesterday, I thought, And you know,
- 40:48Speaker 3: the Vikings were a good red zone team coming in. Kings,
- 40:52Speaker 3: I think we're number eight in terms of red zone efficiency.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Coming in. They had fifteen red zone possessions and had
- 40:58Speaker 3: scored ten touchdowns in fifteen possessions yesterday, Yesterday won for six,
- 41:03Speaker 3: So that was a pretty good show. I found it
- 41:06Speaker 3: interesting that the one touch the one red zone touchdown
- 41:09Speaker 3: that they got out of those possessions was the one
- 41:12Speaker 3: where they went wildcat and they took the ball away
- 41:15Speaker 3: from Carson Wentz and direct snapped it to the running
- 41:18Speaker 3: back who got it to the end zone. So the
- 41:20Speaker 3: one time they actually did score in the red zone
- 41:22Speaker 3: Carson Wentz was was x's and o's out.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Of the play.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Well, the bottom line is, as Jalen Hurst said, we
- 41:31Speaker 1: ain't losers anymore. They snapped the two game slide and
- 41:35Speaker 1: up next is the rematch against the New York and Giants,
- 41:40Speaker 1: of course, and we'll discussed that one a little bit
- 41:41Speaker 1: later in the week. And right before I let you go, look,
- 41:44Speaker 1: Bernie told me that something that you've been working on
- 41:47Speaker 1: for quite some time is finally released.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Can you tell me.
- 41:52Speaker 3: About I'll do more than that, I'll show you it.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Nice.
- 41:59Speaker 3: The encyclopedia this is there's probably people out there saying,
- 42:03Speaker 3: wait a minute, he's already written the Eagles and Cycle. Well,
- 42:07Speaker 3: and this is actually the fourth edition of it. And uh,
- 42:11Speaker 3: you know, every time they win the Super Bowl, you
- 42:13Speaker 3: got to update it. You you got to you gotta
- 42:16Speaker 3: get the most recent super Bowl in there. So that's
- 42:19Speaker 3: what they did.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Uh.
- 42:20Speaker 3: And I after they won the Super Bowl down in
- 42:24Speaker 3: New Orleans, I sat down and started writing. And the
- 42:28Speaker 3: result is we have this book. It's five and forty
- 42:31Speaker 3: two pages of Eagles history going all the way back.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Anybody that's read any of the other encyclopedias know that.
- 42:39Speaker 3: I mean, we go all the way back to the
- 42:41Speaker 3: beginning of pro football in Philadelphia, we go back to
- 42:44Speaker 3: the Frankfurt Yellow Jackets. We tell the history of how
- 42:47Speaker 3: pro football started here, and we bring it up to
- 42:50Speaker 3: the present day. Uh, and you're right, it was a
- 42:53Speaker 3: It was It was quite a chore to write this
- 42:57Speaker 3: book and turn it around in what amounted to about
- 42:59Speaker 3: five weeks. I had to turn around a five hundred
- 43:02Speaker 3: page book, probably one of the toughest deadlines I've ever
- 43:05Speaker 3: dealt with. But I'm really really happy with the way
- 43:08Speaker 3: it turned out. It's a beautiful book, and it's got
- 43:11Speaker 3: full stats sections. It's got every draft pick that's ever
- 43:15Speaker 3: been made. Every year's drafts are in there, and it
- 43:18Speaker 3: has a real nice section in the middle of all
- 43:21Speaker 3: color photography from last season with some beautiful, beautiful pictures
- 43:26Speaker 3: from last season. So it's a real fun book. I mean,
- 43:31Speaker 3: I'm sort of kidding, not kidding necessarily, but talking about
- 43:34Speaker 3: how hard the job was. And it was, but I
- 43:37Speaker 3: was happy to do it because listen, who wouldn't want
- 43:41Speaker 3: to look back that year? I mean, its greatest year
- 43:43Speaker 3: in the team's history. I mean, ten consecutive wins, fourteen
- 43:46Speaker 3: wins in the season, a phenomenal victory in the Super Bowl.
- 43:50Speaker 3: I mean, that's a history we're telling, and we get
- 43:52Speaker 3: to tell it in the Eagles Encyclopedia. The name of
- 43:55Speaker 3: the book this time is Eagles Encyclopedia Champions two Roman
- 44:00Speaker 3: Numeral too, with obviously the reverse hurdles as the cover shot.
- 44:06Speaker 3: So it is in bookstores now, and it's also available
- 44:10Speaker 3: on Amazon if you want to order it that way.
- 44:12Speaker 3: So hopefully, hopefully folks will go out and buy it,
- 44:14Speaker 3: and I'll be doing a few book signings in the
- 44:16Speaker 3: area too, so you can just check your bookstore and
- 44:19Speaker 3: see if I'm going to be coming buying your neighborhood
- 44:21Speaker 3: one of these days.
- 44:22Speaker 2: So your wife, once again is a novel widow.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Do you ever sleep? I mean, how many hours a
- 44:30Speaker 1: day did you spend doing it? The update rewrite.
- 44:35Speaker 3: A lot, a lot because it was all going down
- 44:38Speaker 3: at the same time that I was writing the play,
- 44:40Speaker 3: so I was I was sort of doing two things
- 44:42Speaker 3: at once. So yeah, I mean to your point, I
- 44:45Speaker 3: wasn't getting a whole lot of sleep. But you know,
- 44:47Speaker 3: it's it's all good. I mean, I'm the two plays
- 44:51Speaker 3: went really well, and I'm sort of kidding, but I'm
- 44:54Speaker 3: not kidding. I'm really proud of the encyclopedia. I think
- 44:57Speaker 3: it the people at Temple Press. I mean they were
- 44:59Speaker 3: under a lo lot of stress too. I mean we
- 45:01Speaker 3: were all working under the same deadline, and I think
- 45:04Speaker 3: we're all really really happy with the way it turned out.
- 45:07Speaker 3: A lot of people had to really go the extra
- 45:09Speaker 3: mile to get this book out, but it's out now
- 45:11Speaker 3: and I think it's I think people really enjoy it.
- 45:14Speaker 1: You write a five hundred and forty two page book,
- 45:16Speaker 1: I can't even write the sentence is just an that
- 45:18Speaker 1: f fair rate. But that's why you are the Hall
- 45:20Speaker 1: of Famer Ray Dinger. All right for this edition to
- 45:24Speaker 1: Birds Weekly for Raydinger, the Hall of Famer, the author,
- 45:28Speaker 1: the playwright, and who knows what else we don't know about.
- 45:31Speaker 1: I'm a gun until next time. So long, everybody,
