- 0:00Kevin Walsh was just confirmed as the 17th chair of the Federal
- 0:03Reserve. The Clarity Act is being marked
- 0:05up in the Senate right now, and Bitcoin is sitting right on the
- 0:07200 day moving average, the same level that's launched every
- 0:10major move in the last three years.
- 0:12All of this is incredibly bullish, but today I want to
- 0:15show you something underneath all of it.
- 0:17A law of nature. The same mathematical pattern
- 0:20that governs how cities grow, how organisms scale, and how
- 0:23networks compound in value. Bitcoin is the only financial
- 0:27asset in history that follows this law, and it's the reason $1
- 0:30million per coin is inevitable. Today, I give you the clearest
- 0:34explanation of the Bitcoin power law that exists on this side of
- 0:36the Internet. And once you see it, you will
- 0:38never look at the price the same way again.
- 0:40This is truth block. I'm Hurley.
- 0:42Let's mind truth. Now before we dive in, I just
- 0:51want to let you know that we're building something really
- 0:53exciting at Simply Bitcoin that you won't want to miss.
- 0:56Scan the QR code below or visit news.simplybitcoin.com/launch to
- 1:01learn more and be one of the 1st to see what's coming.
- 1:03Now I want to be upfront about something.
- 1:05I resisted the power law for a long time.
- 1:08I mean, a lot of Bitcoiners did. The truth is many of us got
- 1:11burned by the stock to flow model last cycle.
- 1:14The price targets came and went, and the model broke down, and a
- 1:18lot of us walked away from anything that looked like a
- 1:20mathematical price prediction with deep scars.
- 1:23So when people started talking about the power law, I kept my
- 1:26distance. It's just another model, another
- 1:29set of numbers people would treat like prophecy.
- 1:32It took a friend sending me a video about power laws in nature
- 1:35to start to crack the door open. And once I started looking at
- 1:38the data it when an Italian physicist named Giovanni
- 1:41Sanostasi has been publishing, I realized that this isn't a price
- 1:44model. It's a description of what
- 1:46Bitcoin actually is. Now, Giovanni is a polarizing
- 1:49figure in the Bitcoin world. He's the director of the
- 1:52Scientific Bitcoin Institute, and he's done serious peer
- 1:54reviewed work on this. He's also gotten into some ugly
- 1:57spats online with skeptics, and I think some of that probably
- 2:00traces back to the model allergy I just described.
- 2:03But his work stands on its own. First, to understand what a
- 2:06power law is and why it matters for Bitcoin, we have to start
- 2:09with a question most people have never thought about.
- 2:11What kind of growth are we looking at?
- 2:13Most of us think about growth one way.
- 2:15Something goes up fast, peaks, then comes back down.
- 2:18Think a hot stock, a housing bubble, or a start up that
- 2:21scales until the market saturates.
- 2:23That's called exponential growth.
- 2:25Bacteria in a Petri dish double and double until they run out of
- 2:28food and then they die. Exponential growth has a built
- 2:31in death sentence. Eventually the system runs out
- 2:34of room. A power law works nothing like
- 2:36that. Think about a city.
- 2:38New York didn't double its population every decade until it
- 2:41exploded and collapsed. It grew fast early on, then
- 2:44slower, then slower still, but it never stopped.
- 2:48And the bigger it got, the more productive it became.
- 2:50Double the city's population and you get more than double the
- 2:53patents, the wages, and the innovation.
- 2:56Cities get more efficient with size, not less.
- 2:58That's a power law growth that slows over time but never stops.
- 3:03And the bigger the system gets, the more resilient it becomes.
- 3:06So the question we should ask of any system is, what kind of
- 3:09growth are they running on? Because one of them dies and one
- 3:12of them doesn't. Now, Giovanni was on Coin
- 3:14Stories with Natalie Brunel recently and he lands this part
- 3:16really well. With Bitcoin, we have this
- 3:19beautiful process that is the process that is chosen by nature
- 3:24and also thinks that kind of human construct that grow from
- 3:29the bottom half. Like for example, a city, right?
- 3:32A city is organic, people interact with each other, yes,
- 3:36but it's some planning, but it's not very stronger.
- 3:39And in fact, one of the things that you learn from the power
- 3:41law of it, you should not do much of central planning.
- 3:44Let things organize themselves and then the natural exchange of
- 3:49information and knowledge and cetera creates this process.
- 3:52This is what happened with Bitcoin.
- 3:54It's a bottom up process with self organizes and it chooses
- 3:59for whatever reason, the part that nature likes.
- 4:02Like for example, there is another article that I mentioned
- 4:05in the book and there's a comprehensive article that
- 4:08studies the growth of teeth, horns, shells, thorns in in
- 4:14plants. All of them grow as power loss.
- 4:17So it's what nature likes. Now you know what, in nature
- 4:21some of the bad processes are exponential, like cancer, for
- 4:25example, is an exponential. Cities are eternal.
- 4:29You take Rome, right? Rome has been existing for
- 4:32thousands of years, right? They have cities like Hiroshima
- 4:36and Nagasaki that are being naked and now they are rebuilt
- 4:40and they are very thriving cities and said that it's very
- 4:43difficult to kill a city, right? And they all grow as power laws.
- 4:47But. Corporations.
- 4:48Are a corporation is studied a corporation as an example and
- 4:52then they grow exponential. And he says as a joke, he says a
- 4:55lot of the there are no corporation that maybe there is
- 4:59only one exception that is the Vatican that just makes a joke
- 5:03with as a corporation, right. That has existed more than 150
- 5:09years. Almost all of them die within
- 5:11150 years because they grow as an exponential and then they
- 5:15don't have any other resources. You know, they run out of
- 5:18resources and they die. Their market is not is saturated
- 5:22by their products and they have some other competitor and they
- 5:25die. But what does that mean for
- 5:26corporations that are backed by Bitcoin?
- 5:29Essentially, could they live? Forever could strategy live
- 5:34forever exactly so this is one of the reason why I want a
- 5:38seller to start adopt this language of a power law because
- 5:40he could say exactly that he say we are turning corporations into
- 5:45cities. Which law a system runs on
- 5:47determines whether it lives or dies.
- 5:49Bitcoin is running on the same math as cities.
- 5:52So when someone says Bitcoin could go to 0, they're saying
- 5:55Rome could go to zero. And companies holding Bitcoin on
- 5:58their balance sheet, like strategy, They aren't just
- 6:00buying an asset. They're changing which law
- 6:02governs their survival from company to city.
- 6:05That's what the math does. Now here's another way to see
- 6:08how power law systems work. Imagine a forest.
- 6:11Trees grow. Lightning strikes.
- 6:14Small fires burn and clear out the Deadwood.
- 6:16More trees grow. More small fires.
- 6:19The system regulates itself. No one is managing it.
- 6:22No one is deciding which trees burn and which don't.
- 6:24The forest finds its own balance through constant small
- 6:27corrections. Now imagine someone steps in and
- 6:29starts suppressing every fire. No more small burns.
- 6:33The Deadwood piles up, the fuel accumulates.
- 6:36And when the fire finally breaks through, and it always does, it
- 6:39doesn't clear a patch. It takes the whole forest.
- 6:42That's what the Fed does with the economy.
- 6:44They suppress every small recession.
- 6:46They bail out every failure and the imbalances just stack higher
- 6:50and higher until the system can't hold.
- 6:52Bitcoin is the forest that no one controls.
- 6:56The difficulty adjustment recalibrates every 2016 blocks.
- 7:00Miners come and go, hash rate rises and falls.
- 7:04The network absorbs it all and rebalances all on its own.
- 7:07The system tunes itself the same way forests do, the same way
- 7:11power law systems always do. It's called self organized
- 7:15criticality, and it's one of the deepest signatures of a power
- 7:18law system. Giovanni took 15 years of daily
- 7:21Bitcoin price data and plotted it on a log chart.
- 7:23If Bitcoin followed an exponential, the line would
- 7:26curve. If it follows a power law, the
- 7:28line is straight and it comes out a straight line.
- 7:32In this formula, price equals time raised to the power of 5.7.
- 7:35That single equation explains 96% of Bitcoin's entire price
- 7:39history, from pennies to six figures across 6 orders of
- 7:43magnitude. Through every crash, every
- 7:46bubble, every regulatory crackdown, every exchange
- 7:49collapse, the line holds. And this is where I stopped
- 7:52being skeptical, because Giovanni didn't just find a line
- 7:55that fits the data, he derived why it fits.
- 7:59The exponent 5.7 isn't arbitrary.
- 8:02It comes from two things you can measure independently.
- 8:05First, adoption. Bitcoin addresses grow over time
- 8:08at roughly the rate of time cubed.
- 8:10That's the same rate as how the Internet and Facebook grew.
- 8:13It's the natural pace of a technology spreading bottom up
- 8:16through a network. Second is network value.
- 8:18Price scales with the number of users raised to about the 1.8
- 8:22power. This is the version of Metcalf's
- 8:24law. More users means more
- 8:25connections, and more connections means more value.
- 8:29Multiply those exponents. 3 * 1.8 gives you 5.4.
- 8:33The directly measured value is 5.7.
- 8:35They match it within 2%. The power law isn't a curve that
- 8:38someone drew on top of the price.
- 8:40It falls out of the physics adoption times, network value.
- 8:44That's it. Giovanni actually tested this
- 8:46against Sailor's claim that Bitcoin is exponential.
- 8:49He ran 5 models against 15 years of daily data.
- 8:52Sailor's version is an exponential within a decreasing
- 8:54rate. When you let the data choose, it
- 8:57collapses right into the power law.
- 8:59Sailor's model fit honestly is the power law, and his instinct
- 9:03is right. The growth is slowing.
- 9:05The power law just tells us how and why exponential slow down
- 9:09and die. Power laws slow down and endure.
- 9:13And this connects to something we covered a few weeks ago.
- 9:15The Sailor Curve plan CS logistic model that traces
- 9:18everyone of strategies Bitcoin purchases with stunning
- 9:21precision. That model is real, but it sits
- 9:24inside the power law. The Sailor Curve is bullish
- 9:26noise within the Bitcoin signal. The power law is the climate
- 9:30strategies accumulation, the ETF inflows, the nation state game
- 9:34theory. That's all weather.
- 9:36It's important weather, but the long term trend was set before
- 9:39any of them showed up. And once you see that Bitcoin
- 9:42follows a law of nature, the game theory of adoption stops
- 9:45being speculation. Nations and institutions and
- 9:47corporations aren't choosing Bitcoin because they're
- 9:49visionaries, they're choosing it because the system is selecting
- 9:53for it. Game theory is just the
- 9:54mechanism. One more piece.
- 9:57Saylor noted at Consensus 2026 that Bitcoin's volatility has
- 10:00marched from 80 to 40 / 5 years and is pointing towards 35.
- 10:05Giovanni's work explains why. In a power law system,
- 10:09volatility decays over time because it's built into the
- 10:12math. Lower the Vol means bigger
- 10:14allocations can enter. The power law is engineering its
- 10:17own adoption curve. Every mainstream criticism of
- 10:20Bitcoin assumes it's an exponential.
- 10:23It's a bubble, it's a speculation, it's a Ponzi.
- 10:26All of these things grow exponentially.
- 10:28They go up fast, they peak, and then they die.
- 10:32Here's Giovanni on exactly this. If you can simplify this message
- 10:37and because it's not a poetry science actually based on data
- 10:42and besides, to me is like one of the most convincing a orange
- 10:47peeling argument that you can make right to people that no,
- 10:51it's not this. It's like when people say it's
- 10:53speculation. Absolutely not.
- 10:55It's speculation will not grow. Usually speculation like bubbles
- 10:59and other things like that, they grow exponentially.
- 11:01The opposite of a power law. Power law is self regulating,
- 11:04right? It is a slowing down of things.
- 11:07There is something deeper. There is a network quality of a
- 11:10system and you know, OK, everything else is different
- 11:16from Bitcoin because it's not speculation because it would not
- 11:19grow as an exponential is not the pyramid scheme because also
- 11:24that grow as exponential all the things that it does have value
- 11:28because it's finding value not by people imposing it from
- 11:33outside, but it finds it by itself by growing through
- 11:36adoption. You know, so it's, I think it's
- 11:39beautiful once you understand it.
- 11:41There are a lot of consequences. We are adding a very important
- 11:44story to what Bitcoin is. Every attack on Bitcoin maps to
- 11:49exponential growth, the data says power law and power laws
- 11:52don't die. They self regulate.
- 11:55They find value from the bottom up, not because someone decided,
- 11:59but because the network discovered it on its own.
- 12:01And the climate has always been on our side.
- 12:04The power law has held for 15 years through wars. 90%
- 12:08drawdowns, exchange collapses, China bans regulatory
- 12:11crackdowns. It's never broken, but the
- 12:14weather right now looks unusually good.
- 12:17Here's Taylor at Consensus rattling off the near term
- 12:20catalyst list. There's a global consensus
- 12:22Bitcoin is real. The head the the the tailwinds
- 12:26for Bitcoin of the catalyst will be a cessation or a resolution
- 12:30to the Gulf War. The, the, the installment of
- 12:35Wash at the Fed any, any loosening or any forward
- 12:42accommodation and the interest rate monetary policy and then
- 12:48and then any positive developments in, in trade,
- 12:53right. And those are all of those are
- 12:55positive catalyst. And then the, the passage of
- 12:58resolution on the clarity act, right?
- 13:01When we get a resolution there, those will be positive macro
- 13:05factors for Bitcoin. So let's check that list against
- 13:09what's actually happening. Gulf War resolution, a ceasefire
- 13:13is in effect and negotiations are underway.
- 13:15Warsh at the Fed, He was confirmed yesterday.
- 13:18Monetary accommodation, the bond market is screaming for it. 30
- 13:22year yield is above 5%. Trade developments, tariff
- 13:26pauses is in play. And Trump is currently in
- 13:28Beijing with top tech leaders like Elon Musk and Jensen Huang,
- 13:32and they're there to make a new deal.
- 13:33What about the Clarity Act? Well, it's being marked up in
- 13:36the Senate right now. The power law tells you
- 13:38something these catalysts can't. It doesn't matter which of them
- 13:41hit first. It doesn't matter if some don't
- 13:43hit at all. The power law held through every
- 13:45storm for 15 years. It held when none of these
- 13:48tailwinds existed, and it's still holding now.
- 13:51OK, so let me bring this all together.
- 13:53Jeffrey W sees the problem. We're all in more clearly than
- 13:55almost anyone. He wrote a book called Scale.
- 13:57That's the definitive explanation of power laws in our
- 14:00world. West has the math.
- 14:02Systems like Fiat money approach what he calls a finite time
- 14:05singularity. Each innovation cycle has to
- 14:08arrive faster than the last to keep things from collapsing.
- 14:10Mainframe to desktop to Internet to mobile to AI.
- 14:13The gap keeps shrinking. West's diagnosis is rigorous,
- 14:17His prescription better leadership and cultural change,
- 14:20which he admits is thin. US bitcoiners know the answer
- 14:23isn't a better leader, it's a better monetary system.
- 14:25You can't manage your way out of a mathematical singularity.
- 14:29You need a paradigm reset. And lucky for us, it already
- 14:31exists. Every other financial asset
- 14:34follows an exponential They grow fast, they peak, and then they
- 14:38die. Bitcoin is the first to follow
- 14:39the same law as cities and organisms and networks.
- 14:43The law that says slow down, stabilize and endure.
- 14:46And if you're in a power law world, the strategy changes.
- 14:50You don't trade it, you don't time the cycle.
- 14:52You stay persistent, which means self custody and long time
- 14:56horizons don't trade a law of nature.
- 14:59And I actually think This is why Bitcoin conviction looks
- 15:01religious from the outside. Because when you see that
- 15:04Bitcoin follows the same patterns as biology, as the
- 15:07growth of cities, as the fundamental architecture of how
- 15:10networks scale, you realize the people who've done the work
- 15:13aren't running on faith. They're running on pattern
- 15:15recognition and the deepest kind.
- 15:18And This is why $1 million per Bitcoin isn't a dream.
- 15:22It's where the math and physics point.
- 15:24OK, questions for you. Does the power law change how
- 15:26you think about Bitcoin's price? What's the hardest part about
- 15:29explaining Bitcoin's inevitability to someone who
- 15:31still thinks it's pure speculation?
- 15:33And if Bitcoin follows a law of nature, does that make you a
- 15:36more patient or more aggressive accumulator?
