Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Is It Weird...?
Transcript
- 0:00What ever, it's the little number we do. It's called is it weird?
- 0:05Okay, so we're weird, we admit that for sure, but how
- 0:07weird we'll find out when we talk about the little things we do and we
- 0:11decide are they weird? Are they not? That's why we call it,
- 0:13well is it weird? We were just talking about the weather, and I
- 0:16am a psycho when it comes to web, I would agree. So yesterday,
- 0:21I'm looking ahead. My husband had brought the kids to the lake.
- 0:23They had a great weekend while I did girls weekend and he's like, yeah,
- 0:27we're going back next weekend and I'm just like, I'm looking at the
- 0:30forecast. I'm like, God, it's going to be like rainy, only
- 0:32forty going through. He goes, Amanda, it is Sunday, Like a
- 0:36lot can change. But I check the weather and make all of these plans,
- 0:40cancel plans, do everything. And my husband thinks that's bizarre. He
- 0:44loves when it goes, like when they mess up and then we'll go and
- 0:47do something and it's just gorgeous. He's like, you could have ruined like
- 0:50the whole weekend if we would have went with like the when you decided three
- 0:54days ago. We weren't going to do that. You know what I mean?
- 0:57What is it weird that you check the weather like all of the time
- 1:00and like base everything I do around it. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:04Yeah, No, I mean it's the You know, you can get to
- 1:07a point where it's like becoming obsessed. And I'm the same way my wife
- 1:10hates. Like, for example, when we were living in Florida and people
- 1:12would come visit us, you like really want it to be very nice because
- 1:17people are coming from up north and they're going to Florida, it's got to
- 1:19be beautiful, and you don't believe it or not. There's like cold fronts.
- 1:22Of course, I would get so stressed out about when somebody was visiting.
- 1:26I'd be like a week out looking at the weather, like, oh
- 1:27my god, it's only gonna be sixty four. So this is where my
- 1:30mind is, and I let it bother me so much. Like I look
- 1:34at the monthly outlook and I know, I know it's crazy, but I'm
- 1:38looking I'm like, Okay, well then maybe next week we'll look. Okay,
- 1:41if there's gonna be enough water, are we doing this? Is it
- 1:44ready for the pond? Tooon. I mean, my mind just goes wild
- 1:47over the weather. No, hey, people love the weather. It's one
- 1:49thing we all have in common, I know. But as the weather,
- 1:52maybe it's to relax a little bit. It's such classic small talk because of
- 1:56that reason. That's true. All right, Amana. Is it weird?
- 1:59And this is weird? This is going to make your weather thing look pretty
- 2:00silly? Oh gus? Because is it weird that when I'm driving, specifically
- 2:05at night or when it's dark out or early in the morning, I have
- 2:07sort of this fear of people in the other I assume everybody in the other
- 2:13vehicles are planning on shooting me. Okay, now bear with me. Like
- 2:16when you pull up to a stoplight and somebody pulls up right next to you,
- 2:21I just in my hand. I'm like, well, they're probably pulling
- 2:23up next to me to do a little go out. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:28that's like your first thought. I sort of I get this anxiety sitting next
- 2:31to them. Yet, and I've never been a part of a drive by
- 2:35shooting, so it's not like I'm suffering from this trauma. So I get
- 2:39a little weird at night, like rest stops or semis like just in general,
- 2:45like I would, I'll just go to a big gas station. I
- 2:46would never stop at a rest stop at night. I don't know why,
- 2:49Like I just like in my mind, just like there must have been a
- 2:51movie or something, but those are just creepy by design. Yeah, but
- 2:54in general, like somebody just rolling up to me though, that is weird.
- 2:58And then I'll look for a little things. So what if you see
- 3:00like ninety year old grandma Milly rolling up to you, Well, I gonna
- 3:04see the smile once I see them. And if I see that, then
- 3:07I'll go okay. I'll look for little things like that. Or for example,
- 3:09if the vehicle like uses a signal, I always tell myself it's like,
- 3:14well, okay, if that was a crazy killer person, what are
- 3:15the odds that they're following traffic law? Oh you know what I mean?
- 3:20Or if I see that they have their seatbelt, really stereotyping what a serial
- 3:23killer is. Right, if you're leaving your house to go on a killing
- 3:27spreet, are you buckling up? You know what I mean? Stuff like
- 3:30that, I would think so, because then you'd be I guess if I
- 3:34were a serial killer, I'd be following the rules extra just to blend in
- 3:38with everybody. So that's not going to help your your situation because now you're
- 3:42not. But if you're like if you're in the middle of traffic on a
- 3:46busy road planning to kill somebody, I don't think you're planning on getting away
- 3:49with it. What if they have like really tinted windows then you can't see
- 3:51them? Does that throw you into a level of anxiety that you can't even
- 3:54take it? Why was you have tinted windows if you weren't in your vehicle
- 3:59like with a full shotgun scoped out pointing at me. I have really,
- 4:03really, really tinted windows, and I always wonder that. I hate that.
- 4:06I don't know. That's just the way I bought it. I didn't
- 4:09like add oh you didn't get them all tinted? Yeah, because I know
- 4:12those people too. Don't. Definitely didn't not a red flag with my cheetah
- 4:16princes. I'm kidding. I don't have a steering wheel cover. That would
- 4:19be a wild though. You don't even my steering wheels falling apart. I
- 4:23guess I have like a like a leather when my husband put on because he
- 4:26said my makeup will ruin it. So do you or do you not have
- 4:30like that? Because you just said you didn't. No, I don't have
- 4:34like a fuzzy one from back in the day, didn't you? Did you
- 4:38ever go to fat will you? Did you have one? Like grad?
- 4:44We're going off here, but you got to hear me out. I used
- 4:46to go to Fashion Bug. You remember Fashion Bug? I remember her sister
- 4:50is probably going wild right now. But we would go and you'd get like
- 4:55a steering wheel cup, why is she going wild? What do you know
- 4:59that I don't? And then like fuzzy dice to like match them, and
- 5:04then you'd get yes. And those were available exclusively at the Fashion Bug.
- 5:10No, I'm sure they had a mother places they did, but yes,
- 5:13Oh gosh, I hope your sister's going turn out like a minute in the
- 5:17morning, big ninety eight point seven. When you think about your kids and
- 5:20how long it takes for them to officially proclaim that they are bored, Oh
- 5:25my gosh, every two seconds. I just read a study. They did
- 5:28this whole study on average, your kid will get bored within thirty four minutes,
- 5:32And to me that was like impressive, Like I get bored before thirty
- 5:35four minute. Yeah, I was gonna say that seems really high, and
- 5:38it totally depends on the task at hands or what they're doing. But uh,
- 5:43attention span real quick. I mean the best task I can do with
- 5:46my kids right now is playing cards. Briggs does not have quite the attention
- 5:49span of Sydney. But we could sit there for an hour and play cards
- 5:53and she would be totally good with it. Briggs the opposite. Unless he's
- 5:57like locked in to some show like think of and I'm going like old school
- 6:02Married with Children, you think of al Bundy. He can just zone out
- 6:06like that, like he's just what you were saying. Your three year old
- 6:10Briggs is watching Married with Children like that's what he's hooked on. He's on
- 6:14season four. That would be hilarious, would funny? Yeah? Kids,
- 6:18they don't like to sit still, that's for sure. I know this,
- 6:20especially after Friday Night. I tell you, I DJ the Oak Grove Elementary
- 6:25Aloha Dance. So I knew you had a gig, but I didn't know
- 6:29I actually got a girlfriend I had. Man, you miss a couple of
- 6:33words and things come out real wild. I had a girlfriend whose family was
- 6:39there, and she said, oh my gosh, I just met Pike he's
- 6:44he's Djane and I told him we were friends and to play Alan Jackson.
- 6:47Did you get that on? Well, she did request Alan Jackson. I
- 6:49remember that specifically, and you know it just wasn't gonna work for the kids.
- 6:55She's your request and you didn't give it to her. You can't just
- 6:59play these kids. There was requests after request. And here's what I learned
- 7:02after dejaing in elementary school dance. There's no such thing as too much Taylor
- 7:06Swift. It was crazy. Every kid who came up wanted to hear a
- 7:10different and there were the old Taylor Swift songs, they were new ones and
- 7:14I would play I was on a rotation of every other song. I would
- 7:16just play a Tailor Swift. We should have just yeah, should have just
- 7:18been the theme. That's fair. You would think I was Calvin Harris in
- 7:21Las Vegas. I was bringing the house down. These kids were going nuts,
- 7:25But you didn't want to entertain the moms and dads. Isn't that all?
- 7:30Wasn't enough family dance. This is the thing with requests, like would
- 7:31she have been happy when it made her night? Yeah? But how do
- 7:34you think I feel when the dance floor vacuates. Oh, she would have
- 7:39given you. She would have given you some people on the dance floor.
- 7:42Where would she produce these people? Well, that's usually like goes. If
- 7:46one mom is on the dance floor, nobody's gonna let just one mom hang
- 7:49out on the dance floor. I mean that's the thing. And people request
- 7:53these songs and then funny, where are they on the dance floor? I
- 7:57don't you know what I mean. It's just that's gotta be a feeling friy
- 8:00situations. But the kids lose steam at all. How long was his day?
- 8:03It was an hour and a half. It was just like a sprint.
- 8:05It was like, go hard for an hour and a half. Yeah,
- 8:07that's a great time. Had my wife work in the photo booth?
- 8:11They love that. Yeah, because you also, and that's another thing with
- 8:13kids. You have to have a lot of different things going on. It
- 8:16can't just be a dance. I'm glad you had the photos because then you
- 8:18at least have to wait in line a little bit. That puts a But
- 8:22they just run. Kids just just run. At what age did we stop
- 8:26just running? Run when you're born? Imagine if I was sitting like waiting
- 8:30at the DMV for my ticket to be called, and I was just running
- 8:33around the room. It's a non stop. The other day I told Dick,
- 8:37I said, should we put one of our fitbits on the kids just
- 8:41for curiosity? Yeah, Like they are always running. It's a tiny little
- 8:46steps. They're gonna be in the thirty thousands. Got get a manda In
- 8:50the morning. Seven yesterday, I was a golfing, so I went played
- 8:54eighteen holes. My wife, of course, had the day to herself.
- 8:56She loves that. But she went out to lunch with my sister and so
- 9:00our nephews went with their five and they're well three. Yeah I know that
- 9:03for a fact that THEO is three years old. But it was interesting because
- 9:05they went to a restaurant that was in all you could eat bffet, not
- 9:09buffet, but all you can eat, you order it and if you're under
- 9:13three years old, you eat for free. Yeah, and so my wife
- 9:16said that my sister told the server, well, he THEO a known three
- 9:20year old. He's actually two. Just for the day, you know.
- 9:24And so it was hilarious because the older one, Liam, who's five,
- 9:28he's also very aware of how old his younger brother is. He so totally
- 9:33called him out. That's right. He said, I want mom, Theo's
- 9:35not three, or Theo's not two, he's three. He's three. And
- 9:41my sister apparently was just like, ugh, no, he's two, okay,
- 9:46And how can you explain that in front of the server. It's just
- 9:48so obvious, you know. So I want to know, like, where's
- 9:52the line about lying about your kid's age in order to get free kid discounts.
- 9:56I would never do such a thing like that. I did happen to
- 10:01see somebody do the exact same thing. They were in Colorado, of all
- 10:07places, at this aquarium and this oh wow lady who had a daughter named
- 10:13Sydney and a son named Briggs, and it was like under three, was
- 10:16that the same you guys have gone to? Yeah, you were that.
- 10:18I've never been there before, but yeah, same thing. Sydney, who's
- 10:24Williams? He just did that how and so I'm like, Briggs, how
- 10:30old are you? And he just kind of looked at me. So we
- 10:33just like you just distract him, like you just don't well, right,
- 10:35but then, but who's the server going to believe the five year old or
- 10:39you a grown adult. You don't help, but you don't you don't discuss
- 10:43it well. And and then the best part is they can't prove it.
- 10:46They don't have IDs, you know, I mean Ida two year old.
- 10:50No, just you're gonna have to take my word for it. I'm the
- 10:52parents supposed to be just a better citizen and a better parent? Is it?
- 10:58Morally? Where is that at? Because I fell for examp about it,
- 11:01and I didn't feel bad then after we went because also when you were
- 11:05coming out of the aquarium, you can't get away from buying a bajillion things
- 11:09because to exit, it's just like walking into a zoo of stuffed animals and
- 11:15all of these things. So it's like they're getting ya. Oh yeah,
- 11:16they're getting you everywhere. Whatever you gotta tell yourself. And Amanda in the
- 11:22morning on signet seven and now Amanda spills the sea looks seed Brozzi by Valley
- 11:28Service Mechanical. Well, this could get interesting. I doubt she's gonna spill
- 11:33the tea, but we would all love to know what Siri Cruz has to
- 11:37say about her dad, Tom Cruise. And you're probably thinking, oh,
- 11:39that sweet little girl, Well, she's going to be eighteen this week already,
- 11:43isn't that wild. That's crazy. So Katie Holmes Tom Cruise they divorced
- 11:46a long time ago. The reason she filed for divorce was protect Surrey from
- 11:52Scientology, so she signed an NDA. Surrey, of course, was too
- 11:54little. She did not sign anything. Therefore, she could speak if she
- 11:58wanted to. I kind of don't feel like she will, just because why
- 12:01would you like there, I'd be very random. But for some money,
- 12:07I would love to know what's been going on with Tom Cursons. She'll be
- 12:09fine financially. I mean, even her mom has that Dawson's Creek money,
- 12:13which I'm sure is pouring in the residuals. Right. Did you like Dawson
- 12:18Creek? Did you watch the show? It wasn't. I watched it.
- 12:20It wasn't like my go to you know what I mean, it wasn't.
- 12:24I missed episodes. I only I love the show, but I only watched
- 12:28the first minute and a half morning because this is my God, that just
- 12:33the best TV. Oh, this takes me back. Just wait till this
- 12:39part. I could cry, could you. I mean, it really does
- 12:46bring you right back to the place. It really does the mid to late
- 12:50nineties anyway belong Taylor Swift is sharing her thoughts on Ryan Goslin and Emily Blunt.
- 12:58They covered All too well on SNL over the weekend, doing like a
- 13:01ken version of it listen three, So it was just drunken. It's a
- 13:18good I mean, they had a cute little version of it. But we
- 13:20were watching the Taylor Swift movie, you know, yes, and she does
- 13:24the whole ten minute version of that song too well, which wasn't a single.
- 13:28Like I had never even heard of that song unless you're Swifty and you
- 13:31know every song off of every album. But it's a good tune. Yeah.
- 13:35I was doing like a little like yoga stretch workout thing the other day
- 13:39after I did the peloton and it was ten It was a ten minute workout
- 13:43and it was just that whole song. I'm like, that's a long speaking
- 13:48speaking of stretching, that was a stretch just to tell us that you worked
- 13:50out. It was the only time last week, so don't worry about it
- 13:52was the one and done by the way. Taylor did right back. Did
- 13:56you see this? She said, watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version
- 14:00ontour. The monologue is everything, And I gotta tell you, if you
- 14:03have not seen the pictures of Taylor and Travis at Coachella over the weekend.
- 14:07So cute. She's rocking a new Heights hat. He's wearing a Happy Gilmore
- 14:11hat. There. He's just snuggled kind of around her, like protecting her
- 14:15because she's in a crowd of people that she's living a normal life. But
- 14:18I don't feel like she's ever really lived this normal level life, if that
- 14:22makes sense. Yeah, he was picking her up even he was. Yeah,
- 14:24I just saw a headline that he picked her up, like like so,
- 14:28yeah, I know she's like six eleven, so I feel like he
- 14:31doesn't need to, but he's just trying to prove himself. Well, I
- 14:37wish'd I wish I had him at concerts throw me up on his shoulders.
- 14:45Yeah. I saw meme a tall friend of mine. The thing he was
- 14:50an article and it was from a tall guy said, sorry, God wanted
- 14:54me to be able to enjoy concerts better than you. Not wrong, all
- 14:56right. Jimmy Fallon wants to ask Johnny Carson and as the longest running late
- 15:01night host, he said, let's do thirty years. He just celebrated ten.
- 15:05I'd put him at sixty nine years old. I mean, look that's
- 15:09a long time to be doing anything. Is there anybody else out there who's
- 15:13like just at their job thinking I could do this for twenty more years?
- 15:18Absolutely? Yeah, other than us, But I'm talking about like other people.
- 15:24I'm sure everybody's feeling that way. They're locked in on a Monday,
- 15:26They're like, yes, I hope bring on more work, baby, come
- 15:30off Amanda in the morning. On sage seven, I would say, and
- 15:35I'm sure you shared this opinion that when it comes to fighting and arguing in
- 15:39marriages and relationships, men give me a bit of dumb dumbs. You know,
- 15:41they just don't know how to fight or argue properly. And I found
- 15:46this article a relationship expert sharing things that men should say in an argument versus
- 15:52things like you know, what's your problem? Relax? Calm down. Is
- 15:58it a man as the expert or a lady telling a man how this need
- 16:02is getting? It's a lady. And I like how they start the article
- 16:06because they do sort of bail us out the men. They say, you
- 16:07know, so many men struggle with how to engage with their wife's emotions because
- 16:11well they just weren't taught how in their family. They just kind of shut
- 16:15it down a little bit. All right, Yes it's a good excuse,
- 16:18so it's not our fault. But you know, here's the things men can
- 16:21say when fighting. Such is number five, what can I do to make
- 16:25this better? Ooh, that's just a solid response in anything like if somebody
- 16:30is going after or if there's ever a conversation like how can I make this
- 16:33better? Because you're you're not saying sorry, you're addressing that there's a problem,
- 16:40but you're also asking for tools, and chances are there be like nothing,
- 16:44and then just to be annoyed by it because your question, no,
- 16:45that's not what of I thought that none of this is really going to matter.
- 16:48I feel like the results the same no matter what. But at least
- 16:51it shows that you maybe want to fix or help with the situation. Here's
- 16:56what I don't like about it. I already this is the first of five,
- 16:57and I don't like it because basically it's conceding that I, you know,
- 17:03everything I think is in vowed, like you're the one, you're in
- 17:06the right, I'm in the wrong. What can I do to fix this?
- 17:08Because that's not always a case like no, definitely not. You know,
- 17:11you know how it goes. Sometimes you get into these arguments for it.
- 17:12You are so positive that you're in the right and you will not let
- 17:18go because you know, like, it just makes no sense to you how
- 17:19the other person is not seeing it from your perspective. But don't you.
- 17:22I don't know. I just get to a point where I'm like, I
- 17:25don't have the energy, I don't care, Like, well, let's just
- 17:27move on from it. Well, really, should we call your husband and
- 17:30see how much I just ignore? Yeah? Number four, thing you just
- 17:33say when you're fighting with your wife, I'm sorry, I love a good
- 17:37I'm sorry, like I'm I'm sorry that you don't see it from my perspective.
- 17:45No, typically it's a text like I'm sorry you shouldn't have done that,
- 17:48or sorry frown face. That's the way you get them. What.
- 17:52I don't think I've it. I don't know if I've ever done the frown
- 17:55face emoji. Oh. It just adds a lot to the layers. Number
- 17:59three is I don't don't want to fight with you. Yeah, I mean
- 18:03I'm doing it, but I really don't want this, Okay. Also number
- 18:07two, if you want to drop this into a fight with your with your
- 18:10wife, I love you. M yep, that's a good very weird though,
- 18:15Like I can't imagine. It's sort of like killing them with kindness,
- 18:19Like you can't be mad at me when I'm showering you with I love you,
- 18:22I love you, honey, I love you. But I feel like
- 18:25then there's going to be a but what you're doing right now is irrational.
- 18:29I love you, but unless it's just a solid I love you, maybe
- 18:33And the number one thing you should say your wife when she's mad. Our
- 18:37relationship is more important to me than this fight. Oh Mike, I would
- 18:44love to hear you do this, but they're also phony, you know.
- 18:47I guess it depends on your delivery. It depends on your delivery and how
- 18:51hot of a situation it is. Like if I were to scream our relationship
- 18:56is more important than this fight, would that be effective? I don't think
- 19:00that's gonna be a factor in much like our marriage. I kind of feel
- 19:04like yours is the same way. Do you guys ever really get into it?
- 19:08You know what? I just feel like we have the same kind of
- 19:11demeanor where yeah, you might be upset about something, but it's just kind
- 19:15of step away and it's fine. Like it's never like an aggressive situation.
- 19:19You just like walk away and just kind of like giggle, and there might
- 19:22be stubborn, I angry, clean like I'll just like go upstairs and start
- 19:26doing something and then come down like Okay, that decompressed me in the weirdest
- 19:30way possible, and I'm fine, like, well, yeah, I will
- 19:34say I mean, and everybody gets into it, right, Well, Doe,
- 19:37you throw a couple of cocktails in the mix, but yeah, overall,
- 19:41I know it's pretty uh like yesterday for example, and she'll hate that.
- 19:44I we'd even share this, but I came home from golf and I
- 19:47apparently had missed a text right when I got to the golf course and just
- 19:49said like I love you, have fun whatever. Didn't see it and didn't
- 19:53respond until I got home, and you know, she was upset that I
- 19:56was ignoring her and I would never do that on purpose, but I didn't
- 20:00see it. You know, you didn't see it for four hours. You
- 20:03not once looked at your phone. You didn't take out your camera to take
- 20:06a picture of you and the boys golfing. I was on my phone the
- 20:08whole time, but that's because I used the app on my phone, to
- 20:11get my yardages. So I was just preocy. Oh you were real locked
- 20:15on the course. Absolutely, yeah, gotta get got to get that yardage
- 20:19down to the yard. You don't believe have fun and she's she's just cheerleading
- 20:23you onto the course and you just couldn't fire back a text. Wow,
- 20:29she didn't even ask how the round was because she was devastated that you didn't
- 20:32love her for four hours. No, she did. She got the whole,
- 20:33She got the full break down on how the round was. Don't worrying.
- 20:38Now here's what you need to know. Well, today is tax day.
- 20:42Several local and national food chain restaurants are offering deals and some specials to
- 20:47help erase the pain away. It's not working. It's not going to erase
- 20:51the pain. Okay. A free roast beef sandwich from Marvi's really can make
- 20:55up for a lot. I did see a free sandwich with it here and
- 20:57there. A lot of them are if you had the app. But thank
- 21:00you, thank you for thinking to people today on this wonderful day of writing
- 21:04checks. You know, it's only the tax headline. If you didn't file
- 21:07an extension like I had to do, just got away from you just buy
- 21:11yourself a little time. It's like when you email the teacher like, hey,
- 21:15listen, you know I had something come up your dog, get your
- 21:17helm Mark Family Emergency. Oh got god, I'm gonna need a couple more
- 21:19weeks. O. Good. Hey. The FCS title game for next season
- 21:23will now be played on Monday. Historically it's been on a Saturday. There
- 21:27was one time that they did it on a Sunday. But one factor for
- 21:32moving the game is now regular season games for the NFL are on Saturday,
- 21:36so they're moving it over to Monday night. January sixth and Frisco, Texas.
- 21:40We love the NFL. Just bullying everybody else day you'll do whatever days
- 21:45we aren't you. This is gonna work. Yeah. A lawyer who represented
- 21:49OJ until he died last week is now saying he is not only going to
- 21:53be cremated, but they are going to be testing his brain for CTE.
- 21:56Which lawyer wasn't cock, No, not cock right now, didn't recognize the
- 22:02name. He died years ago? Oh he did, yeah, right after
- 22:04like not long after the trial? Really? Yeah? Or within I mean
- 22:07within a decade, We'll say. Interesting, I guess I never really followed
- 22:11along with that. After. Yeah, he win Kardashian obviously died, yeah,
- 22:17not long after as well. Who the show on FX? That was
- 22:21a really good show with Cuba Gooding Junior, Right, yeah, yeah as
- 22:23oj and uh h, what's your name Sarah Pols? Really? Yes?
- 22:29Well. The lawyer also said that there are tentative plans for a celebration of
- 22:32life with just some close friends and family. I do like that they're going
- 22:34to be testing his brain for CT, just for let's use it for something
- 22:38to help. Well, they know by now if you played football, especially
- 22:41back then, that pretty good. Now what the you know side effects are?
- 22:47You know a lot of people haven't are currently living with it, but
- 22:48they're not killing their ex wives. Yeah. I don't think that's going to
- 22:52be like, oh that's the reason. No, the whole thing is so
- 22:56ichy, All right, cloudy today. Chances to marine high of about sixty.
- 22:59I remember hanging heads quite a lot back in high school. So I'm
- 23:02wondering if I don't have CT on the bench. I'm I mean, you
- 23:06you've been very open. I'm not being rude that you were just you were
- 23:08on the bench a lot of yeah, for offensive defense, but I was
- 23:11out there for special teams, and that is those are some of the most
- 23:15violent plays, so hard. That's why they throw guys like me out there
- 23:21to take the blows. Bike. Get in there, go get your head
- 23:26ripped off. At least you're on the field. Get a Manda in the
- 23:29morning, Come on, get up ong Really just a good moment here to
- 23:34get a little perspective on your life. You might think things aren't great,
- 23:37there's things that bother you, but you're not this guy at least. So
- 23:41he's a Canadian man, Amanda, who he's gone through his entire life despising
- 23:47two of his five fingers on his left hand. Why right, He says,
- 23:51they have a burning sensation and he's always just felt like they didn't belong
- 23:56on his body. What do you mean, like they're just like always like
- 24:00just hurt. Correct, Yeah, so he suffers me. He's been diagnosed
- 24:03with what they call body integrity identity disorder. So his fourth and his fifth
- 24:08fingers on his left hand he doesn't like him, doesn't feel like they belong
- 24:14there. And so finally, man, he's gone to the p And he's
- 24:15never told anybody about this. Family doesn't know, but he literally has nightmares
- 24:19about these fingers being on his body. I know that's hard to comprehend,
- 24:23it really is. But if it hurts so bad, I could just see
- 24:26like being angry with the fingies, you know, but that would be a
- 24:30very weird sensation. He had. He had nightmares that the two fingers were
- 24:33rotting or burning. Oh gosh, since child. And so finally he goes
- 24:38to a doctor and he asks that they remove his two fingers. He just
- 24:44wants them gone, which the doctor was like, Uh, you know,
- 24:47you got a couple of fine working fingers here. From what I can tell,
- 24:48you know, I'm odding your body. I'm not there for the nightmares,
- 24:52but can we try some other stuff? So they went through all sorts
- 24:55of like behavioral therapy, and I depressed since you know, they tried that
- 24:59route didn't work. So finally they agreed, okay, we'll cut your fingers
- 25:04off. Just take him off. So they surgically removed his fingers, and
- 25:10guess what, the nightmare stopped immediately along with the emotional distress. Wow,
- 25:15that is interesting. Reduced anger. He has constructive life plans. It sounds
- 25:21like everything's going well. He just needed to get rid of the sting out
- 25:23to get him isn't that odd? I mean, like, just think about
- 25:27just right now, is there anything physically bothering you? Not at the hole?
- 25:33Right? It's not so bad? Yeah, if there was something just
- 25:37continued, Like if you ever have like a really bad back or you know,
- 25:41you go through those moments and you're like, gosh, I don't know
- 25:44how I can go on. But a lot of people live with aches and
- 25:45pains like that exactly. Yeah, the back pain. Once that starts,
- 25:49it's like, yeah, it's it's over. You know, you've got to
- 25:52deal with that forever. So now I can only imagine how this guy would
- 25:55be feeling. Have you ever just had like a little cut, and for
- 25:59some reason, after you get that little cut on your finger, you always
- 26:03find a lemon or a line, Like, it doesn't matter how often you
- 26:07like, I don't think I use a lemon and a lime too often.
- 26:08Yeah, but every time you got that little cut. Now, imagine that
- 26:11how that guy had to have been feeling that times ten for his whole life.
- 26:15I don't know. Might make me chop it. I don't know.
- 26:17It's pretty devastating, but I'm just thankful for my fingies. I'll tell you
- 26:21that all ten of them good boys, these guys. I love them.
- 26:23I love having in the morning Big nainety eight point seven. I saw this
- 26:27tweet and it said, Amanda, see if you can relate to this rich
- 26:30people love to venmo request you four seventy two for like half a bagel?
- 26:36Oh stop, you know, because venmo is super convenient. It's obviously where
- 26:40you can send money or request money. Sign up now to people see.
- 26:42And it's funny because it does seem like the people who are the most well
- 26:47off are the ones who are asking for the money, Like if you if
- 26:49they bought you, in this instance, a bagel or a beer, and
- 26:55then they're Venmo requesting like, oh hey, by the way, that's probably
- 26:57why they're rich, because I honestly would I'm just like, I might think
- 27:00it, but I'm never going to vendmo request anybody for that. I just
- 27:04simply am not right. And is it because they're greedy or what is the
- 27:10reason? And so a money expert weighed in on this is she said,
- 27:14people with more money than their peers struggle with generosity because they don't want to
- 27:18be taken advantage of. Ooh, that would make sense, but it's like
- 27:22nobody's taken advantage of you if you bought me a beer. It's not like
- 27:25I was begging you to buy me a beer because I know you're well off.
- 27:27But maybe it's one of those Hey, I want to make sure that
- 27:30you know that you're just not inviting me. Or maybe it's kind of a
- 27:33complex, like I'm not just hanging out with you or friends of yours just
- 27:37because you have money. Yeah, it's like I can fend for myself and
- 27:41I want to be your friend in love. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sort
- 27:42of the opposite in that I wouldn't know. I always jumped the gun before
- 27:45they can even request it. If somebody like yesterday at the golf course,
- 27:48I get there and my wallet was in the carts or whatever, and so
- 27:52I need a tease and I didn't have my card on me, and so
- 27:55my buddy I'm like, oh, hey, dude, can you just get
- 27:56these I'll ven you. Well. Then he just said no, don't worry
- 27:59about it on me. Oh really, yeah, sweet man. By the
- 28:02way, nine dollars for a box of te's get out of town? How
- 28:06many air in a box? Oh, I don't know. Thirty? Oh
- 28:07that is interesting. You had a good point, though, because rich people
- 28:11like they just have a different perspective on money. And it's not like that
- 28:14they're cheap or that there don't want to be taken advantage of. I think
- 28:17they just appreciate the value of a dollar a little more that and some maybe
- 28:21are like it's got like I the ones who have earned it and gone through,
- 28:25you'd be surprised. You hear stories like this with celebrities all the time,
- 28:27where they'll go somewhere and people are just flabberg acid that there was like
- 28:33a ten percent tip or not. You know, it's wild. That's how
- 28:36you accumulate money though, just not giving it away. But obviously you can
- 28:40be generous. You can buy your friend a beer and not vent more request
- 28:42um for three dollars, that's pretty good. I want to try this now
- 28:47next time i'm mouth with a friend, Billy, why don't you try it
- 28:48with me? Next time we're out. You can buy me a beer and
- 28:51then we'll just see what happens. Are Na beer is cheaper because you've been
- 28:53by the way. I feel like we have not given this enough. I
- 28:56am proud of you you went through. Now are you weekends without drinking?
- 29:00I'm trying to make this not like this big celebration that Pike made it three
- 29:04weeks without drinking, Like holy yeah, but I'm you've been in situations where
- 29:08it's you're you're a very social person. We both are. It's not easy
- 29:12when you're used to that lifestyle. Listen, love to have a beer or
- 29:17two, especially like this weekend. We're on the patio. At one point
- 29:19I was golfing, my friends were drinking. This is what I'm saying.
- 29:22I'm proud of you. I need to give you this opportunity. Thank you
- 29:26share with the world. Yeah, I suppose I could do an update.
- 29:29You know, I'm so March twenty fourth was the last beer. Well okay,
- 29:33actually more like March twenty fifth at three am. Got it. It
- 29:37was the last beer I had. And yeah, so we're quite a ways
- 29:38into it. You know. People say, oh, you sleep so much
- 29:41better. No you don't. Oh really no, but you feel better.
- 29:45You've got to feel better for sure. Feel like I have more energy,
- 29:48especially today, like a Monday. How many Mondays? Are you still dragon
- 29:51because of the weekend? But I slept great this weekend. Well, but
- 29:53I've been here to tell you I am a dragon. I left my Booty
- 29:57in the Cities off with the weekend's right long girls, but it was fun.
- 30:02Well, thankfully, I'm here to kind of pick up the slack. Appreciate you
