- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Got a Hallmark or Hallmark Review Podcast.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm Mangan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm a former Hallmark hater. We're back with one of
- 0:30Speaker 2: your favorite episodes in regular rotation, and that is Hallmark Headlines,
- 0:36Speaker 2: some breaking and recently broken news about Hallmark and Hallmark
- 0:43Speaker 2: related projects. Before we get into that, we're always asking
- 0:46Speaker 2: you to leave a rating and a review of the podcast,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and I want to read a recent one. If you're
- 0:51Speaker 2: wondering what could I possibly write in a review, Lisa writes,
- 0:54Speaker 2: why didn't I know? Okay, I do not know how
- 0:57Speaker 2: I've gone so long without knowing about this awesome podcast.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Just discovered it kind of by accident. I'm a huge
- 1:03Speaker 2: Hallmark movie fan, especially the Christmas movies. The Girls Call
- 1:07Speaker 2: One Hallmark podcast is excellent. It's so good. I sometimes
- 1:10Speaker 2: get a little frustrated listening to it because I want
- 1:12Speaker 2: to join the conversation so badly. The reviews are spot on.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I especially love the Mailbag episodes, and I'm really looking
- 1:18Speaker 2: forward to the one coming up. I love the reviews
- 1:20Speaker 2: of the latest Hallmark experiment. The Providence Falls trilogy. Their
- 1:24Speaker 2: reviews were as awesome as the movies. I prefer listening
- 1:27Speaker 2: to their reviews after I've watched the movie so I
- 1:29Speaker 2: can see how much I agree or disagree with them.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I pretty much always agree. They're funny and entertaining. If
- 1:34Speaker 2: you haven't done so, and you're a Hallmark Channel fan,
- 1:36Speaker 2: check it out. Lisa. She's our MVP. MVP.
- 1:43Speaker 1: She's in our Facebook group. I know exactly who this
- 1:45Speaker 1: person is. Me too, She's very active in our Facebook group,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and I believe just recently got to be on the
- 1:52Speaker 1: set of a movie. Several of our listeners are participating
- 1:57Speaker 1: as background actors in the opera movie. Do that?
- 2:01Speaker 2: I mean we could have we had to fly ourselves
- 2:04Speaker 2: to Nashville. Yeah, that's far firm here a little bit
- 2:07Speaker 2: for a day. But I would have done it. I
- 2:11Speaker 2: said take pictures, and they were like, no, you can't
- 2:13Speaker 2: do that, You'll get booted. I was like, oh. Some
- 2:16Speaker 2: recently broken news. Per Deadline dot Com, Hallmark has eliminated
- 2:20Speaker 2: thirty rolls across various departments. This does follow the rehire
- 2:25Speaker 2: of Michelle Vickory. Not blaming it on her, that's just
- 2:28Speaker 2: the timeline who originally left the network in twenty twenty
- 2:32Speaker 2: one and has returned. Prior to that, she had been
- 2:34Speaker 2: with the network since its inception. In other cost cutting news,
- 2:38Speaker 2: Hallmark is moving away from their studio City office into
- 2:41Speaker 2: their Burbank office. Bumber's all around, bummer all.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Around, except for the Michelle Shell Vikory higher rehire. A
- 2:49Speaker 1: lot of people are feeling very optimistic about that news. Yes,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but also over on Reddit, some people are suggesting that
- 3:00Speaker 1: she's going to lean into reality TV over there more.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Look at Reddit is a hotbed of negativity, So if
- 3:09Speaker 1: you want to join in over there, I suggest you
- 3:13Speaker 1: check out the Hallmark channel sub thread because people hate
- 3:18Speaker 1: the reality stuff. They hate the moves Hallmark is making.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And it's like this news from Deadline about Michelle and
- 3:26Speaker 1: then the elimination of Roles.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It's just like open this big can of.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Worm of like what's wrong with Hallmark?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah? And I you know me. You think I'm a pessimist, right,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I feel optimistic. I thought I was a pessimist. No,
- 3:43Speaker 2: you're the realist. I know I think I'm an optimist.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I think you think I'm a pessimist. I think we
- 3:50Speaker 2: all have our moments. Well, look my bigger concern is
- 3:53Speaker 2: I think Hallmark is trying to find its footage in
- 3:56Speaker 2: a world where cable is dying a slow death. I
- 3:59Speaker 2: think the number that we saw, you know, from live
- 4:02Speaker 2: viewing on Hallmark this year, we're really indicative of that.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I don't think it's necessarily indicative of like.
- 4:07Speaker 1: The viewership mm hm when you have like a streaming
- 4:11Speaker 1: network and you have I think Hallmark has maybe shot
- 4:14Speaker 1: itself in the floot a little bit with some changeover
- 4:18Speaker 1: in terms of where it's available, like getting rid of Peacock.
- 4:21Speaker 1: People didn't really understand Hallmark Plus. Things weren't always available.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think now hopefully we're in a good position where
- 4:29Speaker 1: people can either have the Hallmark channel or they can
- 4:31Speaker 1: have Hallmark Plus and that's where they're going to find everything. Yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 1: you know, we recently had a really interesting conversation with
- 4:37Speaker 1: Jacqueline Collier. I don't know if this particular part of
- 4:40Speaker 1: it is going to make the interview that we did
- 4:43Speaker 1: with her, but she had mentioned about Hallmark as a
- 4:46Speaker 1: business and like right now people are like busy getting
- 4:51Speaker 1: the day to day done, and she was talking about
- 4:54Speaker 1: it's so great how they have executives there who can
- 4:57Speaker 1: like pull back and look at the bigger picture of
- 4:59Speaker 1: like where Hallmark is going. I think that's happening. But
- 5:03Speaker 1: I also think like that stuff takes time. And so
- 5:07Speaker 1: when you have people who are like upset that there
- 5:10Speaker 1: aren't movies plane all day long, I think the reason
- 5:14Speaker 1: is is because Hallmark is trying to save themselves.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they're trying to figure out what their long term
- 5:21Speaker 2: plan for success is, and sometimes that means trying new things, right,
- 5:24Speaker 2: And I think you know, we also saw in this
- 5:26Speaker 2: past year the writing of the Ship after their plans
- 5:30Speaker 2: for Hallmark Plus don't seem to have gone the way
- 5:32Speaker 2: that they had hoped that they would, you know, putting
- 5:34Speaker 2: all that exclusive content there. We don't have the numbers,
- 5:37Speaker 2: but it must not have driven subscribers in the way
- 5:39Speaker 2: that they were hoping, right, because they've changed course with that. So, Okay,
- 5:44Speaker 2: they tried something that didn't work. We're changing courses. That's
- 5:48Speaker 2: the way business works.
- 5:49Speaker 1: They still have to figure out what they're going to
- 5:52Speaker 1: do because Cable's not going to like rebound, Yes, so
- 5:57Speaker 1: I got.
- 5:57Speaker 2: To figure it out. I'm excited have a new Michelle
- 6:01Speaker 2: Vickery over there. I'm excited. I'm excited the fans are
- 6:06Speaker 2: super excited about this next bit of news. The third
- 6:09Speaker 2: Three Wiser Men movie has been announced. One of our
- 6:13Speaker 2: eagle eyed listeners did send us that the production notice
- 6:18Speaker 2: lists the working title as Return to Winter Harvest. But
- 6:22Speaker 2: we have a title, what is it? The Wisest Men,
- 6:26Speaker 2: revealed by one Tyler Hines on his Instagram. Yeah, just
- 6:29Speaker 2: a day or two ago. There are some clues in
- 6:34Speaker 2: that teaser we get in the Tyler Hines Instagram. There's
- 6:37Speaker 2: a pregnant Andrew Walker's partner. In this video that Tyler posted,
- 6:44Speaker 2: we have the whose teenage Wasteland playing in the background.
- 6:46Speaker 2: This is where we get the reveal of the title
- 6:48Speaker 2: Three Wisest Men. This article on Entertainment Now posts that
- 6:52Speaker 2: fans notice some possible hints. So the men are dressed
- 6:55Speaker 2: in tuxes, which people are assuming might mean a wedding. Okay,
- 6:58Speaker 2: Sophie whose Luke's significant other? Andrew Walker is Luke. She
- 7:02Speaker 2: looks very pregnant in a hospital gown. We also get
- 7:05Speaker 2: them in a jail cell, so what's going on here?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Also we have wondered who are the writers on these movies?
- 7:14Speaker 2: Wendy Eagle Eye Wendy saw Russell Ane line comment WM three,
- 7:20Speaker 2: it's a whole new ballgame. Paul Campbell responds, there it is.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Now Could that be Russell just engaging with the cast
- 7:27Speaker 2: and crew in which she has worked with before using
- 7:29Speaker 2: the ball pun based on the ballpit. Maybe, perhaps, maybe
- 7:34Speaker 2: What are your feelings about this announcement, Wendy.
- 7:39Speaker 1: My initial thoughts were I don't care because I thought
- 7:44Speaker 1: the first movie was great, the second movie was okay.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm like, really, are we doing a third?
- 7:49Speaker 2: But I do kind of like seeing a.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Little bit of the behind the scenes sneak peak stuff.
- 7:57Speaker 1: How's my interests peaked? We will see, I said after movie.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Two, we don't need a third one on the review episode,
- 8:06Speaker 2: But of course we will be watching it. We will
- 8:08Speaker 2: be reviewing it. Hope. I love it. I'd never wish
- 8:12Speaker 2: a movie isn't enjoyable.
- 8:14Speaker 1: No, I mean, I do recall watching that second movie
- 8:18Speaker 1: last year and laughing out loud at some stuff.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, it's a great team.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's an excellent team from writers to directors to an
- 8:30Speaker 1: ensemble cast that's really good and enjoyable to watch. So like,
- 8:34Speaker 1: there's that.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Now I'm a little bit worried.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Because I'm still waiting to see how many Christmas movies
- 8:42Speaker 1: Hallmark is gonna put out this year? Is this gonna
- 8:45Speaker 1: be the one and only Tyler Heines movie? Is this
- 8:48Speaker 1: gonna be the one and only Andrew Walker movie? Paul Campbell,
- 8:51Speaker 1: Kimberly sas No, it's not. Kimberly sastad, It's not the
- 8:54Speaker 1: one in only Tyler Hines.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Because our next bit of news is about it, Tyler
- 8:57Speaker 2: Hines Christmas movie. We talk about it.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yes in Holiday movie News, Aaron Craikou and Tyler Hines
- 9:05Speaker 1: will reunite for Christmas. Above the Clouds, our podcast counterpart,
- 9:11Speaker 1: Brand had a chance to talk to Tyler about this movie.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Oh and Brand's not here? Did you not realize what
- 9:18Speaker 2: was happening there?
- 9:20Speaker 1: We were originally going to.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Record this episode with Brand from Deck the Hallmark Fully
- 9:25Speaker 2: our scheduling change that required him not to be on
- 9:28Speaker 2: this episode. We will have Brand joining us next month
- 9:32Speaker 2: for a Headlines episode.
- 9:34Speaker 1: We'll link the interview with the guys and Tyler.
- 9:37Speaker 2: We absolutely will. The clips of it are hilarious because
- 9:40Speaker 2: my favorite part is Dan had no idea like that
- 9:44Speaker 2: this movie was coming. He didn't know what it was called.
- 9:47Speaker 1: They just were there and Tyler was like holding their
- 9:50Speaker 1: hand through the whole thing. So we talked about this
- 9:54Speaker 1: movie be in our live episode from brample Cha.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yes, I know.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Look we recently If you haven't listened to our recent
- 10:04Speaker 1: review of it was always you again.
- 10:07Speaker 2: We did that episode live at Bramblefest. You can listen
- 10:10Speaker 2: to that. It's in our feed now. The takeaway from
- 10:13Speaker 2: that for me is that Aaron and Tyler have fire chemistry.
- 10:16Speaker 2: They're a great team. I'm really excited to see them
- 10:19Speaker 2: reunited on screen. This movie has a Christmas Carol vibe.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I love that story so and it's like set in
- 10:28Speaker 2: an airplane at least partly. It's going to be interesting
- 10:31Speaker 2: to see how that could be interesting that plays out.
- 10:34Speaker 2: So let me go back to my original question.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Is Andrew Walker going to be I'm trying to think
- 10:39Speaker 1: in my notes, like, has he been attached to any
- 10:42Speaker 1: project for Christmas?
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yet? I don't recall either. Y'all, we were so excited
- 10:56Speaker 2: about this latest news. People are a real split about it.
- 10:59Speaker 2: But let me tell you, Hallmark has acquired the rights
- 11:02Speaker 2: to air Gilmore Girls. The netnet for Hallmark movie fans
- 11:06Speaker 2: is that that does mean a reduction in the number
- 11:08Speaker 2: of movies re airing in the afternoons. Gilmore Girls has
- 11:13Speaker 2: begun airing. It began on Monday, August twenty fifth, runs
- 11:16Speaker 2: weekdays from two to six and weekends from eight to
- 11:20Speaker 2: ten am. This is a linear only partnership, so we
- 11:23Speaker 2: are not getting streaming of Gilmore Girls on Hallmark Plus.
- 11:26Speaker 2: It is currently streaming, I believe on both Hulu and Netflix.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It is. Yeah, personally, I'm excited about where you are
- 11:34Speaker 2: a Gilmore Girls super fan. I'm a big fan of
- 11:36Speaker 2: Gilmore Girls. I love this series. I'm excited to like
- 11:40Speaker 2: I would love to see it bring new fans to
- 11:43Speaker 2: the series.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Let me tell you yesterday I turned it on in
- 11:47Speaker 1: the afternoon. It's like a great throw on show, just
- 11:52Speaker 1: to have running in the background, just catch catch catching
- 11:57Speaker 1: that dialogue.
- 11:58Speaker 2: That is so good.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You are so right about it being split. I was
- 12:03Speaker 1: over on Reddit the other day and people are so
- 12:06Speaker 1: unhappy about Gilmore like literally, like I watched the first episode.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I'm out, and I was like, what give it a chance?
- 12:16Speaker 1: Like I will say, like, like any show, you got
- 12:20Speaker 1: to give it like at three episodes at least.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but this show had a twenty two episode first season.
- 12:27Speaker 2: There's a lot to chew through.
- 12:28Speaker 1: This show is a pop culture icon for a reason,
- 12:34Speaker 1: Like it wasn't just like Boy Meets World or whatever
- 12:39Speaker 1: freaking nonsense, Like you need to watch the show and
- 12:44Speaker 1: pay attention to it. The writing is superior in this show,
- 12:48Speaker 1: and there's so many great references made, and I think
- 12:53Speaker 1: this audience of people it will land for.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Them if they just give it a chance. I mean,
- 12:59Speaker 2: a Hallmark audience is watching Sullivan's crossing. Scott Patterson's right there,
- 13:03Speaker 2: He's right there. Yeah, so's Chad Michael Murray. Right.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Chad Michael Murray.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, if you didn't know, is in the first season
- 13:11Speaker 2: of Gilmour Girls. Yeah, he is. Jimston.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yes, anyway, I'm I'm I'm excited that it's on Hallmark.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I can see why they acquired the rights to it. Hm.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The only thing I hate is that it has commercials,
- 13:26Speaker 1: because I have grown so accustomed to watching it on
- 13:29Speaker 1: Netflix or Hulu without commercials.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But it's so good, it's great, Give it a chance.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Our next headline, Luke McFarlane is developing a LGBTQ script
- 13:41Speaker 1: for Hallmark. We don't have any additional details about this.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Do you have any thoughts beyond it's about time.
- 13:49Speaker 2: No, but I'm excited about this. Luke was on Watch
- 13:52Speaker 2: What Happens with Andy Cohen discussed his work on Hallmark.
- 13:56Speaker 2: He was there promoting Platonic and then right after that
- 13:59Speaker 2: he announced his partnership that he's in development. To me,
- 14:03Speaker 2: I never know what that means, because like this is
- 14:05Speaker 2: announced in August? Is that enough? Like?
- 14:06Speaker 1: Could we be getting a Christmas movie?
- 14:08Speaker 2: We could? I'd be amazing.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Where in the development process are they? Is this a
- 14:13Speaker 2: something for next year? Quite possibly? We don't know. I
- 14:17Speaker 2: want to see Luke McFarlane in the countdown a Christmas
- 14:19Speaker 2: lineup this year, whether it's this project or another one.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I am dying for the full countdown. Like I cannot
- 14:28Speaker 2: handle the unknowns about the countdown to Christmas line up.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I think we got like two and a half weeks.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think you're right. Will we do a preview?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Eh?
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we will all right.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Over the weekend I was reading an article on Parade
- 14:42Speaker 1: Parade Magazine Parade dot Com.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Predictions of the stars who will be on Dancing with
- 14:51Speaker 1: the Stars.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Oh yes.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And as I'm reading and I'm scrolling, scarreling, reading, reading
- 14:55Speaker 1: and like names I have heard and then who comes
- 14:58Speaker 1: across one Wowie Zowie Victor Webster and I went what
- 15:04Speaker 1: And it was very interesting because what the what the
- 15:07Speaker 1: article said is like social media is not buzzing about
- 15:10Speaker 1: this actor, but got dot dot and then explained who
- 15:13Speaker 1: Victor was, and I was like, yes, Hallmark needs a
- 15:17Speaker 1: presence on Dancing with the Stars is eventually this time.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Did you see him tease something about it a couple
- 15:24Speaker 1: of weeks ago. No, No, he made it dancing with
- 15:26Speaker 1: the Stars reference in his stories and I I saw it,
- 15:29Speaker 1: and I wondered, like, is he just like that would
- 15:32Speaker 1: be fun or is he teeing us up for something
- 15:36Speaker 1: I don't.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I hope, I hope.
- 15:40Speaker 2: He gets put on. It would be so good.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But you know me, I love Dancing with the Stars.
- 15:44Speaker 1: So I'm gonna be doing my ten votes for him for.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Wowie z Awie. Yes, vote for Wowie z Awi. We
- 15:50Speaker 2: launch our own Girl's got one hollmemark campaign a.
- 15:53Speaker 1: So freaking utely and you know I did share it
- 15:55Speaker 1: on our Instagram and did tag him. He is hit
- 15:58Speaker 1: or miss about like replying and our dms about like
- 16:02Speaker 1: sev he did not reply to this one and I
- 16:04Speaker 1: was like, maybe that means something. I don't know. My
- 16:10Speaker 1: next headline is about Ali Sweeney. Now, I have recently
- 16:15Speaker 1: watched the Netflix documentary that covered the show The Biggest Loser. Yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 1: I had completely forgotten that al Sweeney was the host
- 16:22Speaker 1: on that show, and she's involved in this documentary. She
- 16:27Speaker 1: sits down for interviews in this documentary, and I was like,
- 16:30Speaker 1: first of all, she seems so sweet and there are
- 16:34Speaker 1: times she's like, I can't believe I said that. I
- 16:35Speaker 1: can't believe I did this. It's very honest, honest, yes.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And then one of the contestants speaks about Ali Sweeney
- 16:45Speaker 1: and about how Alex Sweeney is the nicest person to
- 16:47Speaker 1: ever and I'm like, oh, that makes me feel so good,
- 16:50Speaker 1: because really it was about how terrible like the production, Yeah,
- 16:54Speaker 1: about just you know, the whole thing. So anyway, I
- 16:58Speaker 1: had didn't even realize Ali was the host of that
- 17:01Speaker 1: show for a period of time, not the original but
- 17:04Speaker 1: she took it on.
- 17:05Speaker 2: She wasn't the original host. Who was the original host?
- 17:08Speaker 2: The chick from.
- 17:09Speaker 1: The Sabrina and the Witch Show, Melissa Joan Hart, No
- 17:14Speaker 1: Caroline Ray, Yeah, Melissa Joan Hart.
- 17:20Speaker 2: A couple of little bits Ryan Paty is coming back
- 17:24Speaker 2: to TV. He is returning to General Hospital, not to
- 17:29Speaker 2: Home Ork.
- 17:29Speaker 1: How do you feel about him not being on Hallmark?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Do you miss his movies? I do not, Okay, do
- 17:35Speaker 1: you I can't.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I just recently watched because you know, I love me
- 17:39Speaker 2: some Ashley Williams. I watched Two Tickets to Paradise.
- 17:41Speaker 1: That is his absolute best moment. That's maybe my one
- 17:46Speaker 1: and only favorite of his. Sure, but I think Ashley
- 17:50Speaker 1: Williams carries that so, you know, heavy in the calm
- 17:53Speaker 1: and I love it.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Heavy in the calm. Yeah, Yeah, that's great. We're gonna
- 17:57Speaker 2: do some rapid fire countdown to Christmas announcements. We're gonna
- 18:00Speaker 2: run these down, but before we do it, quick little
- 18:02Speaker 2: plug for our website, Girls Gonehollmark dot com. We have
- 18:05Speaker 2: a running post managed by one miss Wendy with all
- 18:09Speaker 2: the countdown to Christmas news that we have regularly updated
- 18:13Speaker 2: and you can check that out Girls Gonehomark dot com.
- 18:19Speaker 2: These are just just a few highlights. Yeah, let's go up.
- 18:22Speaker 2: First of Grand Ole Opry Christmas, starring Christopher Pulaha and
- 18:25Speaker 2: Nicki Deloche, with songs written and performed by Brad Hazley
- 18:30Speaker 2: I'm into it. Yeah, I'm into it too.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I am so freaking happy that Chris is finally confirmed
- 18:37Speaker 1: for a movie.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's been a whole year since we've seen him on Hallmark. Yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I don't know anything about the story. Do you know
- 18:45Speaker 1: about the story? Nope? Are there details out yet?
- 18:48Speaker 2: They did release some of the country stars that are appearing.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think, I recall from my brain Niki's character has
