- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, I'm Steve Toolapana from Season to Risk here coming
- 0:05Speaker 1: from Kansas City, Missouri in the United States.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Fantastic Steve, Thanks.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Made ah, yeah, thanks for having me.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Always a pleasure.
- 0:17Speaker 4: It's early morning there right are you're like you're in tomorrow?
- 0:21Speaker 2: Not too early.
- 0:24Speaker 3: It's the next date for you though, like.
- 0:27Speaker 4: In the future.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I'm a future man to you today.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the future.
- 0:32Speaker 2: What happens to you in the next twenty four hours?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Yeah? Please, yes, I do.
- 0:40Speaker 5: It's actually exciting times indeed, four Season to Risk. But
- 0:44Speaker 5: are you guys having announced that remastered anniversary reissue of
- 0:47Speaker 5: your ninety ninety four album In a Perfect World, which
- 0:50Speaker 5: is you're out on November twenty eighth, and so also
- 0:53Speaker 5: records for you guys, But how are you feeling, mate,
- 0:55Speaker 5: like that they're still nerves because it's a new album,
- 0:57Speaker 5: or they're not so bad because you've already released at
- 1:00Speaker 5: once and you know you did it well.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I mean, it's weird. I mean, it's thirty years old.
- 1:06Speaker 1: That's kind of a trip obviously for for us to think,
- 1:11Speaker 1: to think about how much time has passed. It doesn't
- 1:14Speaker 1: feel like thirty years ago by any means. But which
- 1:17Speaker 1: is over half my life, you know, and it's pretty trippy.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I'm more nervous. We have some US dates we're going to.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Start pretty pretty gruelly little run of shows we're doing
- 1:28Speaker 1: in a few weeks in the West coast of the US,
- 1:30Speaker 1: and we haven't done that in many, many years. Twenty
- 1:34Speaker 1: plus years have we've been out there. So that's that's
- 1:36Speaker 1: got me nervous more than the record coming out, you know.
- 1:39Speaker 5: So you've been trying to get a match fit downe
- 1:41Speaker 5: to the gym and running it.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Oh shit, yeah, nope, just drinking the veno.
- 1:51Speaker 5: I've got an old Scien minors. The last time I
- 1:54Speaker 5: had the urged exercise, I laid back down and get
- 1:56Speaker 5: into the edge past.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Uh.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Now, there's likely a few listeners out there who wants
- 2:03Speaker 5: shore exactly what remastered means like on one of them, So,
- 2:07Speaker 5: can you explain the biggest difference between having an album
- 2:09Speaker 5: remastered and having it re recorded?
- 2:12Speaker 3: So, our guitar player, Dayne Trawer is a pretty.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Successful recording engineer and has a very wonderful studio here,
- 2:22Speaker 1: keeps very busy with and he's really he's he took,
- 2:29Speaker 1: he took the record, and he he kind of he
- 2:33Speaker 1: processed that he's some he has some uh.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I see, I'm not the technical guy. I sound like that.
- 2:41Speaker 3: He uh.
- 2:42Speaker 1: He basically took took the album and he just kind
- 2:45Speaker 1: of analyzed it and listened to it and punched up
- 2:49Speaker 1: some things and and and also kind of like clarified
- 2:53Speaker 1: some things. So, I mean, it's not a drastically different
- 2:57Speaker 1: sounding album, but it definitely sounds more of this era,
- 3:02Speaker 1: you know, uh, not of this era of it, just
- 3:05Speaker 1: it's used the new technology to really.
- 3:09Speaker 3: To punch it up and bring it to a new
- 3:13Speaker 3: uh you know, just a new level.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think the the only thing that's this kind of
- 3:20Speaker 1: awkward about this is only on the vinyl and and
- 3:23Speaker 1: and it's the vinyl release that came out the ver
- 3:26Speaker 1: The original version was something that Columbia Records had put out,
- 3:30Speaker 1: and it was very much like almost a promo this
- 3:33Speaker 1: kind of thing. They didn't really spend a lot of
- 3:35Speaker 1: time on vinyl in the nineties, you know, it was
- 3:38Speaker 1: kind of like, oh, we'll do this because it's whatever,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and and so this is really how I think it
- 3:43Speaker 1: should have sounded and and should be presented.
- 3:46Speaker 4: The vinyl is.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Much better the the It just it's just more cohesive.
- 3:52Speaker 1: When we got the licensing for this, uh to do
- 3:56Speaker 1: this project, we had to get it from from Sony.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Sony owns Columbia, and they did not grant us the
- 4:04Speaker 1: digital rights, so there will not there will not be
- 4:07Speaker 1: a digital remaster version.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Of it as of yet. So it's kind of it's
- 4:14Speaker 3: kind of a shame. It's kind of interesting.
- 4:15Speaker 4: So the physical, you know, the physical thing is what
- 4:19Speaker 4: it is.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And what happened is that Also, Sony had never released
- 4:24Speaker 1: that record digitally. There was a label out of Chicago
- 4:28Speaker 1: in later nineties that we did our mentor Monkey's record
- 4:34Speaker 1: with who did kind of a handshake deal a compilation of.
- 4:39Speaker 3: The Sony records on CD that is still out there
- 4:45Speaker 3: for now.
- 4:45Speaker 1: But once we told Sony we were going to be
- 4:48Speaker 1: doing this vinyl project, they immediately issued their version of
- 4:54Speaker 1: the digital.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:58Speaker 5: I think it's it's important tonight tell you that three
- 5:00Speaker 5: issue is only fifteen hundred copies on vinyl. So if
- 5:03Speaker 5: you do want to get yourself a copy, don't sit
- 5:05Speaker 5: on the ass and waite. Get it now because there
- 5:07Speaker 5: might not be any more coming out.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Truth truth, Yeah, And what can people can people?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Where can people go to get hold of the of
- 5:18Speaker 2: the album.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Uh, well, record store day website, there's well, I believe
- 5:26Speaker 1: there's a list of the independent record stores that are
- 5:29Speaker 1: connected to it that have ordered copies of it, or
- 5:32Speaker 1: you quote. You can still go your favorite independent record store.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You can go there and say, hey, I heard this
- 5:38Speaker 1: was coming out, order some order ordering me a copy.
- 5:42Speaker 1: They have their they have the main allotment. And then
- 5:45Speaker 1: once I don't know what the time frame is, but
- 5:50Speaker 1: after that, Spartan Records dot Com out of Seattle is
- 5:54Speaker 1: the the US label that's putting it out, and then
- 5:59Speaker 1: we'll have but on to WURK. But I don't you know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: we're not We're not headachime soon, but.
- 6:04Speaker 4: I'd love to. I'm ready, let's go.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Let's let's get over there.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Twenty twenty six. I'll put up I'll put some records aside.
- 6:14Speaker 2: There, we get it, some intentives.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Now back to the actual difference between rerecording and remastering.
- 6:21Speaker 5: I guess like a lot of bands these days are
- 6:23Speaker 5: re recording their their albums. But when you do that,
- 6:26Speaker 5: you run the risk of losing those special moments that
- 6:29Speaker 5: actually made the first album what it was, wouldn't you
- 6:33Speaker 5: for real?
- 6:33Speaker 1: I mean that experience We worked with Martin BC in
- 6:37Speaker 1: his studio in Brooklyn, and I'm not sure if you're
- 6:40Speaker 1: familiar with Martin.
- 6:40Speaker 4: But he he.
- 6:42Speaker 1: He produced and recorded some of the great like Swans
- 6:47Speaker 1: Sonic youth on saying Copture cop like really interesting, creative,
- 6:52Speaker 1: heavy music. It was such an honor to work with him,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and his studio is so unlike any other studio I've
- 6:58Speaker 1: been in as far as the space and the timber
- 7:02Speaker 1: that you can get from things that really was like
- 7:05Speaker 1: brutal and got these like crushing, intense, kind of fucked
- 7:09Speaker 1: up sounds.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Out of there.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So I don't know we could we could never. We
- 7:13Speaker 1: could never do it again, to be honest, if I
- 7:16Speaker 1: want to be perfectly candid. When we did that record
- 7:20Speaker 1: and we gave it to Columbia Records, they didn't know
- 7:24Speaker 1: what to do with it. It was unlike anything they'd ever
- 7:27Speaker 1: released at that point and in.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Their you know, major label music, and.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They tried so hard to clean it up, and they
- 7:38Speaker 1: had sent the masters to some guys that work had
- 7:42Speaker 1: worked with Ministry in Chicago, and they were trying to
- 7:45Speaker 1: they were trying to digitize or I mean as nineteen
- 7:48Speaker 1: ninety four, you know, they're trying to digitize the drum
- 7:51Speaker 1: beats to get clarity from the bass and make it
- 7:55Speaker 1: this clean kind of thing, and we're like, that's not what.
- 7:58Speaker 4: It's supposed to be. It's never happen, and it didn't.
- 8:01Speaker 4: They wasted a bunch of money.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It never happened, and we're lucky they were lucky they
- 8:06Speaker 1: released it in the form that it is, like the
- 8:08Speaker 1: true thing that we we made, you know, So we're
- 8:11Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not trying to slag number any means,
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'm just saying that was the time trying to trying.
- 8:16Speaker 4: To figure out, well, how do we still this?
- 8:18Speaker 1: You know, We're like, we don't care where this is,
- 8:21Speaker 1: how we make it, do whatever, you know, But.
- 8:25Speaker 5: It's actually this album to me, like it's a shiny
- 8:27Speaker 5: example of what happens when people try to overthink music,
- 8:31Speaker 5: you know, like you're saying, we're signing with it, like
- 8:32Speaker 5: no disrespect to them, but they wanted to polish it,
- 8:34Speaker 5: they wanted to clean it up. But I had to
- 8:36Speaker 5: listen to the album this morning while I was doing
- 8:37Speaker 5: these questions, and it is a fantastic album just so
- 8:40Speaker 5: it doesn't need anything done to it, Like if they
- 8:42Speaker 5: had ever released it it might have been, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 5: it could have been the step inside of something bigger
- 8:46Speaker 5: for them, not their major company. But who knows, Like
- 8:50Speaker 5: take a risk, don't You don't have to polish everything
- 8:53Speaker 5: rawness you could sometimes.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, I agree, you know so, I mean, I
- 8:57Speaker 1: guess that's why in the end they did release it.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But it did it, you know, it didn't.
- 9:01Speaker 4: It didn't do the you know whatever, you did what
- 9:04Speaker 4: it did, and we did.
- 9:05Speaker 1: We got to do some of our biggest touring on
- 9:07Speaker 1: that record with supporting Corrosional Conformity and Monster Magnet and
- 9:12Speaker 1: and I'm saying we did a lot of cool shit
- 9:15Speaker 1: with that record, you know.
- 9:16Speaker 5: So now speaking of Unsign actually, like at the time
- 9:20Speaker 5: you recorded the album, you were just coming.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Off four years on the road.
- 9:23Speaker 5: We'd killed Dias of Unsigned, Urrisis, Prong Killing Joke, So
- 9:27Speaker 5: you must have been a bit jaded when you went
- 9:29Speaker 5: into the album. Like, do you think that contributed to
- 9:31Speaker 5: the sound of In the Perfect World?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Yes?
- 9:36Speaker 1: I do think we were so a lot of the
- 9:39Speaker 1: material from the first record, and it's a it's a
- 9:42Speaker 1: cleaner record for sure. We were young, you know, and
- 9:46Speaker 1: it was like our first material that you take a
- 9:48Speaker 1: bunch of years a right, and then you get signed
- 9:50Speaker 1: and then you then it took a year for it
- 9:53Speaker 1: to ever a year and a half. It was delayed forever,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and it came out the whole time we were working
- 9:58Speaker 1: on the.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Road, and then we ca up going.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And at that point we were just like we were
- 10:03Speaker 1: onto something new.
- 10:04Speaker 4: We were like always trying.
- 10:06Speaker 1: To challenge ourselves and and and we were kind of
- 10:09Speaker 1: we were wanting to be more. You know, we didn't
- 10:13Speaker 1: want to become It's not like it was incredibly conscious.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I mean, we weren't like, oh, we don't want to
- 10:18Speaker 1: sell out, but we're like, we just want to keep
- 10:20Speaker 1: trying to trying to find this this heavy thing, like
- 10:26Speaker 1: what we're trying to express here, you know, inside of
- 10:28Speaker 1: what our culture is and what what what we're trying
- 10:31Speaker 1: to do is as creative you know, still young people,
- 10:36Speaker 1: but we were we had you know, we had some
- 10:38Speaker 1: road on us, and we had some life experience on
- 10:40Speaker 1: us at that point, and we're just like it was
- 10:42Speaker 1: darker and things were a little more fucked up.
- 10:45Speaker 4: And I mean to be candid, I was a little
- 10:47Speaker 4: more fucked up in my head and I just and
- 10:51Speaker 4: in my habits.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But that you know that informs things, but but you
- 10:55Speaker 1: uh yeah, it's that's the experience you go through, right exactly.
- 11:01Speaker 5: And that album was the first appearance from your rhythm
- 11:04Speaker 5: section of Paul Banowski and Jason Gerkin.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So what did they bring to the table for that album.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Well, Gurkan was in a band called Molly mcguarth. He's
- 11:15Speaker 4: now in Shiner. He only did a couple of tours
- 11:19Speaker 4: with us. He kind of came over to help us out.
- 11:21Speaker 1: The drummer we had who was a brilliant drummer, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: he wasn't kind of he wasn't really vibing on this
- 11:27Speaker 1: this new or more intricate kind of complex, uh polyrhythmic
- 11:31Speaker 1: thing we were trying to do with with that record.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Both Dwayne and Paul are very much towaying the guitar
- 11:39Speaker 1: player what I call latent drummers, like they want to
- 11:43Speaker 1: be drummers and they're always like coming up with and
- 11:46Speaker 1: these are these they're playing drums on their instruments, you
- 11:49Speaker 1: know what I mean. And that's what creates this very
- 11:51Speaker 1: tribal kind of heavy thing. And so that that they're
- 11:54Speaker 1: also adding the chordal thing and so that that informs
- 11:59Speaker 1: these chain is that maybe not be as intuitive to
- 12:03Speaker 1: some people, and so and on that you're creating this different,
- 12:08Speaker 1: challenging thing where it's going from seven eight to well
- 12:14Speaker 1: whatever you know for four for two bars and then
- 12:17Speaker 1: you know, tag that extra one on and then you
- 12:19Speaker 1: then you drone it out for you know, three minutes
- 12:23Speaker 1: but whatever, you know, Like it was composition more than like, okay,
- 12:28Speaker 1: first chorus, first chorus, And Jason was.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Brilliant at it. He was really great at executing these ideas.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Was challenging for him, but he was really good at it.
- 12:39Speaker 1: He's still if you're familiar with his span, shiner, but
- 12:42Speaker 1: he's a phenomenal, phenomenal player and always always doing and
- 12:48Speaker 1: he plays with Home as well.
- 12:49Speaker 4: He does just just really cool stuff.
- 12:51Speaker 1: So that those two together was pretty It was a powerhouse.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And I think that the like you said that you've
- 12:58Speaker 1: noticed the rhythm the rhythm section really is is this
- 13:03Speaker 1: fucking train to hell?
- 13:04Speaker 2: You know.
- 13:05Speaker 5: It's now back to Martin BC, the producer he used
- 13:10Speaker 5: for the album, right, we know he's credential, he's got
- 13:12Speaker 5: the runs on the board, you know what he can do.
- 13:14Speaker 2: But what did you specifically.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Hope he could bring out of Seasons Risks sound for
- 13:19Speaker 5: that album.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'll be honest, we didn't know going into it, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 1: like I knew his his stuff.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I yeah, I mean he was.
- 13:28Speaker 6: A huge fan of Sonic Youth and uh copsu Cop
- 13:34Speaker 6: and Fetus a big, big fan of Fetus, going into
- 13:38Speaker 6: him going oh okay, uh this we get to work
- 13:41Speaker 6: with this guy.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Great Colombia actually our and our guy was again and said, hey,
- 13:45Speaker 1: what do you think about Martin BC? And I'm like,
- 13:48Speaker 1: That's not something I'd ever think could happen, but let's okay,
- 13:53Speaker 1: let's see what happens.
- 13:54Speaker 4: And he came out to Kansas.
- 13:56Speaker 1: City and he hung out with us for a weekend
- 13:58Speaker 1: and listened to some of our rehearsals and and uh,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you know they did Sony did the whole or Columbia
- 14:04Speaker 1: did the whole very rock and roll treatment and that
- 14:07Speaker 1: that regard things that you don't really get those opportunities
- 14:10Speaker 1: these days.
- 14:11Speaker 4: And then we flew out.
- 14:13Speaker 1: There and we lived with him for we drove actually
- 14:16Speaker 1: toured out there, and then we lived with him all
- 14:18Speaker 1: summer and we were in the studio every day for
- 14:22Speaker 1: three months, you know, working with him, and it informed Uh,
- 14:27Speaker 1: we learned a lot from Martin about how to get
- 14:30Speaker 1: sounds and how to mix and how to We were
- 14:33Speaker 1: doing this all on two inches excuse me, two inch tape.
- 14:36Speaker 4: And he had stories for days about all the people
- 14:40Speaker 4: they'd work with. He was he's a he's a wonderful person.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Man.
- 14:43Speaker 4: If Harry had a chance to talk to him, do.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Because he's he's.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Full of great stories. He's he's he's a wonderful man.
- 14:50Speaker 1: But uh, you know in the end, what he really
- 14:53Speaker 1: he really, uh from my memory of the story, he
- 14:56Speaker 1: was very taken with our polyrhythms. He was surprised that
- 15:01Speaker 1: he's Martin is Argentinian, and I mean really he's New York,
- 15:08Speaker 1: but he's his family's Argentinian. And he he was very
- 15:13Speaker 1: taken with the Latin rhythms that we also we didn't
- 15:16Speaker 1: even realize we were doing. And he kind of pointed
- 15:19Speaker 1: that out to us. He's like, these are so Latin,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, and it was it was so and it
- 15:24Speaker 1: was kind of eye opening, and then you're kind of like, okay, well,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you know, we didn't really lean on that, but we
- 15:30Speaker 1: made sure that that was He made sure that that
- 15:34Speaker 1: that they that wasn't hidden, you know what I'm saying.
- 15:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I also read somewhere that Dwayne references a ball
- 15:41Speaker 5: played ghost that the page during the recording sessions, but
- 15:44Speaker 5: it was not a nickname that you's gave someone in
- 15:45Speaker 5: the house or is it an actual ghost.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Apparently there's a ghost there. He he swears he saw it.
- 15:51Speaker 1: That it is an old music munitions armory or something.
- 15:57Speaker 1: There's like and it's right off the Galanas Canal and
- 16:00Speaker 1: Park slope, the lower park slope. Now it's all been
- 16:03Speaker 1: gentrified all around there, but when we were there, it
- 16:06Speaker 1: was just it was pretty desolate industrial area and this
- 16:11Speaker 1: place had it had a You it's kind of this
- 16:14Speaker 1: weird multi layered building, like there's some apartments, but then
- 16:18Speaker 1: there's this bunch of warehouse.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Space and then.
- 16:22Speaker 1: There's this weird area whatever. Yeah, that it just had
- 16:28Speaker 1: a vibe. You had to go from the tracking room.
- 16:30Speaker 1: You went out into this like upper area that was
- 16:33Speaker 1: up and then you went down this steel skatee stair
- 16:37Speaker 1: well into this like kind of a big concrete pit.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Its it's really trippy.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It's, like I said, one of the weirdest studios I've
- 16:46Speaker 1: ever been there.
- 16:48Speaker 5: You sure you didn't just a shape like some wool
- 16:51Speaker 5: clayhead guys could be a sheep.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't. There's Brooklyn. There's not too many sheets there.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Maybe in Kansas City, but not or New Zealand.
- 17:04Speaker 5: There's a great line in the press release for this
- 17:06Speaker 5: release that says, coming from the first wave of post
- 17:10Speaker 5: hardcore band, Seasons of Risk have only gotten weirder over
- 17:13Speaker 5: the years.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about that.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Like, generally people grow up and mature as they get older,
- 17:17Speaker 5: but obviously not you guys.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean, I think we all grew up a bit,
- 17:26Speaker 4: you know, like we're we all we all.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Own our own businesses and are you know, some of
- 17:33Speaker 1: us have kids now.
- 17:35Speaker 4: But we're still always looking for the weird. We're always
- 17:39Speaker 4: really intrigued.
- 17:41Speaker 1: By the unexpected, you know, we're always looking for different sounds.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Like we're working for the first time a long time.
- 17:50Speaker 1: We've been working on new material and it were there's
- 17:54Speaker 1: there's a lot more synthesizers and very experimental things, sounds.
- 18:00Speaker 4: That are happening inside what we're writing right now. And
- 18:05Speaker 4: I'm pretty excited about that.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Like, we took a long time off and so it's
- 18:09Speaker 1: it's it feels pretty cool to be creative and and.
- 18:12Speaker 4: But we're like, well, we don't have anything to prove
- 18:15Speaker 4: or or.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Or you know, lose or win, so where it's like, well,
- 18:21Speaker 1: let's make it as creative as we possibly can.
- 18:25Speaker 4: So weird, weird.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Have you got my questions in front of you?
- 18:29Speaker 5: Because that was a perfect segue into my next question
- 18:32Speaker 5: that I was going to ask if you've settled up
- 18:33Speaker 5: for me nicely?
- 18:38Speaker 4: I guess.
- 18:39Speaker 2: So I want to bring up the new album that
- 18:41Speaker 2: you have been writing, Like, firstly, I guess what you've
- 18:44Speaker 2: been when you re.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Released In a perfect world, like you would have got
- 18:47Speaker 5: pretty close again to the music off that album. So
- 18:50Speaker 5: has that influenced your writing for the new material or
- 18:53Speaker 5: is it going to be different again?
- 18:56Speaker 4: No, I think, I mean it's definitely.
- 18:59Speaker 1: We've consistently laide material from that record in our live
- 19:05Speaker 1: sets that we do every every year. We go out
- 19:08Speaker 1: for a few weeks here and there, you know, and
- 19:10Speaker 1: it's got it a little more recently and you know,
- 19:15Speaker 1: we released that that new song Echo Chamber that came
- 19:18Speaker 1: out on the one eight hundred record a few months back.
- 19:23Speaker 1: It it's in that vein, but it's it's got some
- 19:28Speaker 1: it's got some rippers, Like right now there's a couple
- 19:30Speaker 1: like I don't know how to explain it. It's it's
- 19:32Speaker 1: gonna I really feel like at this point it sounds
- 19:35Speaker 1: like a combination of all of the records.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Together without it without it being like.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Okay, this song is like, you know, this is our
- 19:44Speaker 1: this is our mind eyes of twenty twenty six, and
- 19:47Speaker 1: this is our absolution, you know what I mean. I
- 19:50Speaker 1: think it's just all of the things that we've done,
- 19:54Speaker 1: we've all been in continued to perform in other bands
- 19:57Speaker 1: and be active as musicians.
- 19:59Speaker 4: I think it's all informed it and it's it's gonna
- 20:02Speaker 4: be pretty, uh. I think. I think it's gonna have some.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Pretty It's gonna there's gonna be some pretty aggressive moments,
- 20:12Speaker 1: but there's also going to be some moments of experimental
- 20:19Speaker 1: kind of ambience as well. There's there's something that I've
- 20:23Speaker 1: I've been pushing for. Yeah, you know one thing. My
- 20:28Speaker 1: voice is matured a lot, I think, and my desire
- 20:33Speaker 1: to use it not in just a shouty, screamy way.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I've really and you've heard that in the later records
- 20:41Speaker 1: that I've kept working on that and I really I
- 20:45Speaker 1: like to use it like a guitar can, with different
- 20:48Speaker 1: effects and and really express across the board.
- 20:53Speaker 5: I I I.
- 20:54Speaker 1: If there's anything when I talk about the history of
- 21:00Speaker 1: the band that I would ever have any kind of
- 21:05Speaker 1: pause for is that you can never really understand the lyrics.
- 21:11Speaker 1: And I do care about what I write.
- 21:13Speaker 4: So a lot of times it's like, well, you don't
- 21:15Speaker 4: really get to know the lyrics until you read the
- 21:17Speaker 4: lyrics sheet. Which that's fine, you know, especially when you're young.
- 21:20Speaker 1: But I think for this new material, I mean, it's
- 21:23Speaker 1: not gonna be like, it's not gonna be fucking Elvis,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you know, yeah, you know, no, it's not gonna be that.
- 21:31Speaker 4: But but I think you know, uh.
- 21:36Speaker 1: That that That's one thing that I know I'm pushing
- 21:40Speaker 1: forward to include is that there are some moments of
- 21:44Speaker 1: clear uh song lyrics that but not Crooner's nothing.
- 21:53Speaker 5: I'm not putting any pressure on you all because I
- 21:55Speaker 5: know you're working a young pace for it, But when
- 21:57Speaker 5: can we expect a new album to be next to you?
- 21:59Speaker 2: Sometimes?
- 21:59Speaker 4: Or goal is the goal is this time next year?
- 22:03Speaker 1: We'll see, But I think that I think we're really
- 22:07Speaker 1: motivated to get it done in the next you know,
- 22:13Speaker 1: by the first quarter of next year. We're very motivated
- 22:16Speaker 1: by that.
- 22:17Speaker 4: We're doing this little run of dates and.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Then we don't. I have another band I'm involved with
- 22:25Speaker 1: called Volunteer that has an album that's going to come
- 22:28Speaker 1: out early next year that I have to finish as well, But.
- 22:33Speaker 4: I think I think we can get it done by
- 22:36Speaker 4: and out in the end of next year.
- 22:38Speaker 2: That's the goal, fantasy.
- 22:40Speaker 5: But in the meantime, the reissued version of In a
- 22:43Speaker 5: Perfect World does come out in November twenty eighth, which
- 22:45Speaker 5: is before this interview will be published. So if there
- 22:48Speaker 5: are any copies of Let's Get Yourself One otherwise best
- 22:51Speaker 5: of Black with everything else, they even always a pleasure.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks, Chris, could catch it up, man,
