- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome back to Guardians Wrap-Up. Our scores, by the way,
- 0:12Speaker 1: that we went through in our first segment, brought to
- 0:14Speaker 1: you by your Northeast Ohio Ford dealers. Guardians come up
- 0:18Speaker 1: short today, 8-4 to the Yankees, getting swept here in
- 0:21Speaker 1: the three-game series at Progressive Field. Promising start, though, this afternoon.
- 0:26Speaker 1: As in a scoreless game, bottom of the first facing
- 0:28Speaker 1: their nemesis, Carlos Rodon. Angel Martinez got things started quickly.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Carlos Rodon, 33 years of age, 6'2, 255. Fastball sinker, curve,
- 0:40Speaker 1: slider change. The pitch, and it's swung and ripped.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Deep left field.
- 0:46Speaker 1: There she goes to the porch. Angel Martinez with his
- 0:53Speaker 1: second home run in this series. He rips one to
- 0:58Speaker 1: the porch and left. He now leads Cleveland with 11
- 1:02Speaker 1: home runs, three of them right-handed.
- 1:06Speaker 3: And he jumped all over that.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And Cleveland, with a 1-0 lead, as it looked like
- 1:15Speaker 1: he got a slider from Rodon and pounded it 406
- 1:21Speaker 1: feet to the porch and left. But the lead did
- 1:25Speaker 1: not last for the Guardians for long. Parker Messick was
- 1:28Speaker 1: on the mound and in the second inning after back-to-back
- 1:31Speaker 1: singles from Trent Grisham and Jose Caballero, Josh Chisholm stood
- 1:36Speaker 1: in and he tripled to drive in a pair, give
- 1:40Speaker 1: the Yankees the lead, and then he scored when Anthony
- 1:42Speaker 1: Volpe put a ball in play but an error by
- 1:44Speaker 1: the second baseman. Travis Bazzana allowed that third run to
- 1:48Speaker 1: score in a three-run second inning. 3-1 Yankees after two.
- 1:52Speaker 1: But the Guardians would tie the game. Bottom of the
- 1:54Speaker 1: fourth inning. Back-to-back walks to open the inning for Bazzana.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And Stuart Fairchild, and then with one out, Austin Hedges
- 2:02Speaker 1: stepped in. The one-two to Hedges. Swung on, line, right side,
- 2:06Speaker 1: base hit down the right field line. Pizzano will round third.
- 2:10Speaker 1: He'll score easily on his way to third. And holding
- 2:13Speaker 1: there is Fairchild. Into second with an RBI double. Austin Hedges.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And the Guardians have pulled it within one. It's now
- 2:23Speaker 1: the Yankees three, Cleveland two. On Hedges, fifth double, eighth
- 2:29Speaker 1: run batted in on the season. And it didn't take
- 2:34Speaker 1: long for the Guardians to tie it as they had
- 2:36Speaker 1: runners at second and third after that Hedges double. Brian
- 2:39Speaker 1: Rocchio got the run in from third with a sack fly,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and that made it a 3-3 game. So things were
- 2:45Speaker 1: looking up, but in the sixth inning, the Yankees would
- 2:49Speaker 1: take the lead for good. They got it done against
- 2:52Speaker 1: Messick with a sack fly by Jose Caballero. And then
- 2:55Speaker 1: after the pitching change, Anthony Volpe doubled off of Matt Festa,
- 2:59Speaker 1: who allowed an RBI single to Paul Goldschmidt as well.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And that made it a three-run sixth. And the Yankees
- 3:07Speaker 1: had that 6-3 advantage. They added two more in the
- 3:10Speaker 1: seventh inning. An RBI base hit by Caballero and Jazz
- 3:14Speaker 1: Chisholm reaching on a fielder's choice with a run scoring
- 3:17Speaker 1: as well. The Guardians, though, they did try to make
- 3:20Speaker 1: a game of it in the bottom half of the
- 3:21Speaker 1: ninth inning. With a man aboard, Austin Hedges continued a
- 3:24Speaker 1: big day at the plate. Now the 1-1 pitch. Swung
- 3:29Speaker 1: on and drilled toward the gap in left center. And
- 3:32Speaker 1: this ball is off the wall again. Fairchild hits third.
- 3:36Speaker 1: He is coming home. And it's an RBI double for
- 3:41Speaker 1: Austin Hedges. And it's an 8-4 ballgame.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yankees up.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Boy, Hedges has pounded that 19-foot wall back-to-back games. But
- 3:54Speaker 1: that would be it for scoring today as the Yankees
- 3:56Speaker 1: win it by that 8-4 final, and that is your
- 3:59Speaker 1: Honda Drive-It Home game summary. For the Yankees, eight runs,
- 4:03Speaker 1: 11 hits, one error. New York left nine men on base.
- 4:07Speaker 1: For the Guardians, four runs, six hits, two errors, six
- 4:10Speaker 1: men left stranded. The winning pitcher, Carlos Rodon, now 2-2
- 4:14Speaker 1: on the year. Parker Messick takes the loss, falling to 6-3.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Time of our game today was 2 hours and 48 minutes.

- 6:35Speaker 1: Guardians come up short today, 8-4 to the Yankees. Let's
- 6:38Speaker 1: head downstairs and hear from manager Steven Vogt.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Parker's great.
- 6:45Speaker 8: It was really good to see bouncing back in Texas
- 6:49Speaker 8: where the stuff ticked down in the sixth. He held
- 6:53Speaker 8: his stuff for 100 pitches today. I thought he competed
- 6:56Speaker 8: and kept us in the game. They kind of jumped
- 6:59Speaker 8: him there in the second, and we didn't help ourselves
- 7:01Speaker 8: out either. But I thought he threw the ball excellent.
- 7:05Speaker 3: You know, I.
- 7:08Speaker 8: Thought we battled against him, you know, especially after the
- 7:11Speaker 8: last game where he kind of shut us down the
- 7:12Speaker 8: whole time to get some things going, score some runs.
- 7:15Speaker 8: I mean, we were right in that game for a
- 7:16Speaker 8: long time, and I thought we had really good at-bats today.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it was kind of a funky, you know,
- 7:25Speaker 1: it slipped in right field.
- 7:26Speaker 9: And.
- 7:34Speaker 8: You know, routine play that doesn't get converted, that's not
- 7:36Speaker 8: who we are. It was very uncharacteristic. Like I said,
- 7:41Speaker 8: those things happen. It's just frustrating when they do, but
- 7:44Speaker 8: they do happen.
- 7:46Speaker 6: What do you think of a series like this where
- 7:47Speaker 6: two games are pretty close?
- 7:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I thought we played well. I thought it was
- 7:53Speaker 8: a well-played series. You know, we lost two tough ones,
- 7:57Speaker 8: and then today, obviously, you know, they kind of expanded defensively.
- 8:01Speaker 8: to make it feel like it wasn't a good game.
- 8:03Speaker 8: But I thought we, overall, we played well. We were
- 8:05Speaker 8: right in there. It's been a tough stretch. It's been
- 8:07Speaker 8: a tough nine-day stretch. We've had a lot of close
- 8:09Speaker 8: losses that could have gone either way. But we're going
- 8:12Speaker 8: to learn from it. So, this is a really good
- 8:15Speaker 8: experience for us. And we're going to enjoy the off
- 8:18Speaker 8: day and get ready to go on Friday.
- 8:20Speaker 10: Is that why he's kind of.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Slipped on the triple i.
- 8:26Speaker 8: Think he just slipped um you know it happens maybe
- 8:29Speaker 8: move a little quick to try and get the ball
- 8:31Speaker 8: in and don't have your feet completely under you um
- 8:34Speaker 8: you see it see it happen quite often but um
- 8:36Speaker 8: yeah his foot's going fine.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Unless it probably should eat that ball or is that.
- 8:42Speaker 8: Uh that's really hard in the moment i mean everything's
- 8:45Speaker 8: going fast you it's easy to say you should eat
- 8:47Speaker 8: it but um you know i think he tried to
- 8:49Speaker 8: make a play.
- 8:53Speaker 1: That's manager Steven Vogt following an 8-4 loss. The Guardians
- 8:57Speaker 1: have now dropped four in a row, and they could
- 8:59Speaker 1: slip out of first place if the White Sox win
- 9:01Speaker 1: later tonight as the teams are now in a virtual
- 9:04Speaker 1: tie atop the American League's Central Division. Meanwhile, the Yankees,
- 9:09Speaker 1: same holds true for them. They're in second place right now,
- 9:11Speaker 1: but percentage points behind front-running Tampa Bay as they head
- 9:16Speaker 1: into an off day tomorrow as well. The Guardians off tomorrow.
- 9:19Speaker 1: They're back at it against the Tigers Friday night at 7-10.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And we'll get it started for you at 635 with
- 9:26Speaker 1: Guardians warm-up. Until then, for Brian Motze back at Command Center,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and of course, Tom Hamilton, this is Jim Rosenhouse reminding
- 9:36Speaker 1: you the final score today from Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland,
- 9:40Speaker 1: the New York Yankees 8 and the Cleveland Guardians 4.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Have a great night, everyone.
- 9:46Speaker 9: And from News Radio 570, Dodie Kivian and Ron Furb,
- 9:49Speaker 9: 420 almost in the afternoon. It's a little bit hot
- 9:53Speaker 9: and humid out there, to say the least, 87 degrees.
- 9:55Speaker 9: Welcome to Wednesday, June 10th, where the Guardians got their
- 10:00Speaker 9: clocks cleaned today by the Yankees it's kind of it
- 10:04Speaker 9: was a little bit ugly there wasn't it but anyway
- 10:06Speaker 9: a defeat nonetheless this afternoon welcome one and all enjoy
- 10:12Speaker 9: this beautiful hot humid day we'll be with you till
- 10:15Speaker 9: 7 tonight because of baseball game being an afternoon game.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Solar power in the U.S.
- 10:23Speaker 9: Has surpassed coal as a leading source of new power,
- 10:26Speaker 9: with solar supplying more electricity than coal for the first
- 10:29Speaker 9: time in May. Now, when you read that headline, that sounds, wow,
- 10:34Speaker 9: how about that? I want you to keep in mind
- 10:36Speaker 9: the war on coal that required, as I told you about,
- 10:40Speaker 9: with Clinton and Obama. Remember the war on coal where
- 10:45Speaker 9: they regulated coal plants so they could regulate them right
- 10:48Speaker 9: out of business, kept putting more regulations on them so
- 10:51Speaker 9: they would regulate them out of business, and then insisted
- 10:54Speaker 9: that they be torn down, insisted they be torn down.
- 10:58Speaker 9: So they leave that part of the equation out of
- 11:01Speaker 9: the story here. We've ripped down so many coal plants,
- 11:09Speaker 9: it's ridiculous. So now they're saying, hey, take a look.
- 11:12Speaker 9: Solar in the U.S. has surpassed coal as a leading
- 11:15Speaker 9: source of new power. Solar has become the third largest
- 11:19Speaker 9: source of electricity.
- 11:20Speaker 3: In the U.S.
- 11:21Speaker 9: By natural gas and nuclear, making a significant shift in
- 11:26Speaker 9: the energy mix. despite federal policies favoring coal. That's just
- 11:31Speaker 9: started lately, incidentally. You didn't have any federal policies favoring
- 11:36Speaker 9: coal up until Trump just lately. Solar power continues to
- 11:40Speaker 9: grow with expectations of overtaking coal on an annual basis
- 11:44Speaker 9: in a few years. Solar and battery storage are the
- 11:48Speaker 9: primary energy resources being built, making up 91% of all
- 11:52Speaker 9: new generating capacity in the first quarter. They say the
- 11:57Speaker 9: growth of solar power is driven by affordability, scalability, and abundance,
- 12:02Speaker 9: leading to increased installations across all sectors in the U.S.
- 12:06Speaker 9: I do see a number of people, incidentally, you see
- 12:08Speaker 9: a lot more of it in Florida, but I do
- 12:11Speaker 9: see people that put these solar panels on the roof.
- 12:17Speaker 9: I see them around here. They're a lot more prevalent
- 12:20Speaker 9: in Florida, the Sunshine State, but you see a lot
- 12:22Speaker 9: of people that have these solar panels on the roof.
- 12:27Speaker 9: I don't know what it costs or what the return
- 12:29Speaker 9: is on it, but you see a number of people
- 12:31Speaker 9: with it.
- 12:31Speaker 3: But does it pay off or not? I couldn't tell you.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Couldn't tell you.
- 12:37Speaker 9: But I do see it. I do see it. So
- 12:40Speaker 9: we shall see. Incidentally, I thought this was also interesting.
- 12:44Speaker 9: I get to your phone calls momentarily. China's passenger car
- 12:48Speaker 9: exports surged 73% year on year in May 2021. to
- 12:56Speaker 9: around 800,000 vehicles, with exports of pure EVs and plug-in
- 13:03Speaker 9: hybrids more than doubling to about 435,000 units. Domestic passenger
- 13:10Speaker 9: car sales in May dropped 23.4% from a year earlier
- 13:14Speaker 9: to 1.44 million vehicles, making a seventh consecutive month of
- 13:20Speaker 9: year-on-year declines. They're saying that as fuel prices go up,
- 13:29Speaker 9: as we've seen them go up, and a potential for
- 13:32Speaker 9: them to even go up higher with this mess in
- 13:34Speaker 9: the Middle East, that people are starting now to look
- 13:38Speaker 9: more seriously at EVs. Whether it's something like the Prius,
- 13:43Speaker 9: a hybrid that uses gas and electricity, or these electric cars.
- 13:50Speaker 9: China's largest EV maker sold over 160,000 vehicles abroad in May,
- 13:57Speaker 9: aimed at selling 1.5 vehicles overseas this year, up more
- 14:00Speaker 9: than 40% from last year's figures.
- 14:08Speaker 3: So there you have it.
- 14:10Speaker 9: I mean, things are looking good for the Chinese car
- 14:15Speaker 9: companies and EVs. Because gas prices are just out of control.
- 14:20Speaker 9: And here we go again. I mean, you know, we
- 14:22Speaker 9: had the Apache helicopter taken down and Trump retaliating against it.
- 14:28Speaker 3: So we're right back.
- 14:29Speaker 9: To where when it comes to this situation, to the
- 14:33Speaker 9: original mess that was created with no end in sight.
- 14:36Speaker 3: We shall see.
- 14:38Speaker 9: And it's something genuinely of concern as this drags on,
- 14:43Speaker 9: as this goes on. Now, what are we almost at
- 14:46Speaker 9: the midpoint of June? We shall see what happens if
- 14:50Speaker 9: this goes on into July and August. What happens as
- 14:55Speaker 9: far as oil prices, gas prices. And you can't blame
- 14:59Speaker 9: somebody for saying, okay, well, I'm going to look at
- 15:01Speaker 9: a hybrid. Or potentially an electric vehicle all together, like
- 15:05Speaker 9: a Tesla or something like that. If it suits their
- 15:08Speaker 9: needs to avoid the entire situation. Of course, the cost
- 15:12Speaker 9: of electricity has gone up as well. I don't know
- 15:14Speaker 9: that you can win. Just a few things that I
- 15:18Speaker 9: thought you should know. So we're getting more electricity from
- 15:20Speaker 9: solar than coal. China car exports jump as fuel prices rise.
- 15:26Speaker 9: Interest in EVs goes way up. Of course, Trump, with
- 15:36Speaker 9: the situation in Iran, we shall see what happens there.
- 15:44Speaker 9: As far as a peace deal is concerned... You know,
- 15:47Speaker 9: you keep saying, well, this could be reached within the
- 15:48Speaker 9: next two or three days. But I've been hearing this
- 15:55Speaker 9: over and over and over again. And don't see anything
- 16:02Speaker 9: happening there. What else do I have for you? A
- 16:12Speaker 9: new Reuters poll shows that only 10% of Americans believe
- 16:17Speaker 9: the Trump administration has helped efforts to hold those involved
- 16:21Speaker 9: in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal accountable. The poll indicates that
- 16:25Speaker 9: only one in five respondents think people connected to Epstein
- 16:31Speaker 9: have been properly held accountable. Well, I'd like to meet
- 16:34Speaker 9: those one in five.
- 16:35Speaker 3: They're idiots.
- 16:37Speaker 9: Reflecting deep public distrust. The release of the Justice Department
- 16:41Speaker 9: documents earlier this year, which included prominent figures like Donald
- 16:46Speaker 9: Trump and Bill Gates, has reignited the controversy. Though no
- 16:52Speaker 9: criminal charges have been filed. You got Bill Gates is
- 16:56Speaker 9: expected to be questioned. So you got stuff going on there.
- 17:00Speaker 9: So that's interesting. All right. You're on the air. Hello.
- 17:03Speaker 3: How you doing, Ron? I'm well. JJ, the liberal, starting
- 17:06Speaker 3: it off.
- 17:07Speaker 7: How are you today, buddy?
- 17:08Speaker 3: I'm well. Thank you for asking. Go ahead.
- 17:10Speaker 7: It's a little warm out there today.
- 17:12Speaker 11: It is.
- 17:13Speaker 3: It's a little warm. It's a little humid. That's a
- 17:14Speaker 3: good thing, though.
- 17:16Speaker 7: Yeah, it's not too bad. It could be worse, you know.
- 17:20Speaker 7: It could be raining or it could be snowing. It
- 17:21Speaker 7: could be hailing. It could be raining down nuclear warheads.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Exactly. Nuclear warheads.
- 17:27Speaker 9: It's June. It's June, and June's a good thing. I mean,
- 17:30Speaker 9: you know, we expect some hot weather this time of
- 17:33Speaker 9: the year.
- 17:34Speaker 7: Yeah, I just miss spring. We go from winter to summer, unfortunately. Yes.
- 17:43Speaker 7: You and I keep talking about this. We haven't talked
- 17:45Speaker 7: about it for a while, but I think this is
- 17:48Speaker 7: just a prime example of we would be slowly, slowly...
- 17:53Speaker 7: changing over to, not changing over completely, but starting to
- 17:57Speaker 7: interject or introduce, you know, the renewable energies. For the
- 18:02Speaker 7: simple reason is that we wouldn't be so much relying on,
- 18:06Speaker 7: not that, you know, we have our own way, we
- 18:09Speaker 7: have our own oil in a lot of ways, but
- 18:10Speaker 7: we still have to import a lot of them, like
- 18:13Speaker 7: you stated numerous times, that we don't have the facilities
- 18:15Speaker 7: to import. but the change over some of that the
- 18:19Speaker 7: petroleum into the different things that we need uh... so
- 18:22Speaker 7: i i think that this is you know we had
- 18:24Speaker 7: people can disagree but i think that this is an
- 18:26Speaker 7: example of that that if we would be uh... solely
- 18:29Speaker 7: transitioning into the renewable energy and there's many benefits to
- 18:34Speaker 7: it again now it's uh... i know a lot of
- 18:36Speaker 7: people are reluctant to do it in and you know
- 18:38Speaker 7: i i still use gas and what not but i
- 18:40Speaker 7: i just thought that it would be something that we
- 18:42Speaker 7: all can ponder now that since we're in this this
- 18:45Speaker 7: predicament that, you know, maybe things would, we all can
- 18:50Speaker 7: become a little bit more flexible or at least more,
- 18:54Speaker 7: you know, wanting to be engaging in the idea of
- 18:57Speaker 7: doing this because of the situation. I don't know how
- 19:00Speaker 7: you feel about that. But, you know, one thing I
- 19:04Speaker 7: wanted to say, that guy who killed, the two teenagers,
- 19:07Speaker 7: the one that killed the, The white kid killed the
- 19:10Speaker 7: white kid.
- 19:10Speaker 9: Yes.
- 19:11Speaker 7: I think what we need to do is we wait
- 19:13Speaker 7: to resolve it. Or not to resolve this, but maybe
- 19:16Speaker 7: one step that we can. This is just my idea.
- 19:19Speaker 7: Is that, you know, since we do have, Rich was
- 19:22Speaker 7: saying that some of it is true that we lost
- 19:25Speaker 7: that so-called nuclear family where the other fathers, you know,
- 19:28Speaker 7: father and mother, both of them have a big..
- 19:33Speaker 9: Stand by for me, buddy. Just stand by. That's a
- 19:35Speaker 9: good topic. I want to address it with you and more.
- 19:37Speaker 9: We're here tonight till 7. Ron Verb from the Kingdom
- 19:40Speaker 9: of Mahoney, welcome. So you bring up J.J. the Liberal,
- 19:45Speaker 9: the dependable one, always there for me. You bring up
- 19:48Speaker 9: about this situation with this. kid that was stabbed yesterday
- 19:52Speaker 9: so listen to this this is his name is Anthony
- 19:57Speaker 9: the Carmelo Anthony verdict draws anti-white rage and lies from
- 20:03Speaker 9: radical dem congresswoman Angry activists.
- 20:07Speaker 3: So listen to this.
- 20:08Speaker 9: A Texas congresswoman is leading the voice of online activists
- 20:12Speaker 9: enraged over the guilty verdict of Carmelo Anthony's murder trial
- 20:18Speaker 9: and is spreading outright lies and racially inflammatory rhetoric after
- 20:23Speaker 9: the 19-year-old was sentenced to 35 years in prison for
- 20:30Speaker 9: stabbing Austin Metcalf to death. Jasmine Crockett, of course, a
- 20:37Speaker 9: rare radical Democrat elect in deep red Texas, took to
- 20:43Speaker 9: her podcast Tuesday after Tuesday's verdict to make false claims
- 20:47Speaker 9: about the trial and its jury as she continued to
- 20:50Speaker 9: stir up racial hatred.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Here it is.
- 20:53Speaker 9: I'm not necessarily convinced. Not that I could tell you
- 20:58Speaker 9: the name of one person on this jury that we
- 21:00Speaker 9: had 12 impartial white folk out of Collin County sitting
- 21:06Speaker 9: on a jury for this young black man, she said,
- 21:10Speaker 9: showing empathy for the convicted murderer. Her claim about the
- 21:15Speaker 9: jury is just false. Sources close to the trial confirmed that.
- 21:20Speaker 9: that the jury was not made up of only white people,
- 21:23Speaker 9: despite Crockett's claim, which has been parroted by activists online.
- 21:28Speaker 9: Of the 12 jurors, three were racial minorities, including Asian
- 21:33Speaker 9: and Indian, eight were women, and four were men. They
- 21:36Speaker 9: confirmed that of the 18 total jurors, including alternates, six
- 21:41Speaker 9: were minorities. The jury in the trial, which spanned nine days...
- 21:47Speaker 9: In Collin County, Texas courthouse. So right off the bat,
- 21:51Speaker 9: now keep in mind, this is, this black kid was
- 21:55Speaker 9: in this tent that he didn't belong in.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Okay, they asked him to leave a number of times.
- 22:00Speaker 9: They said some sporting event, some track event or something,
- 22:04Speaker 9: football event.
- 22:05Speaker 3: They asked him to leave. He didn't belong. This was
- 22:07Speaker 3: not legal. his tent, okay? The team's tent. He was
- 22:11Speaker 3: in it. He didn't belong there. They asked him to leave.
- 22:13Speaker 9: Time and time again, he decided not to leave. So
- 22:17Speaker 9: one of the kids, one kid pushed him and said,
- 22:19Speaker 9: you got to go. And that kid, then you had
- 22:23Speaker 9: the Carmelo Anthony pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed
- 22:31Speaker 9: the kid who pushed him right in the chest, right
- 22:33Speaker 9: in the heart and killed him. He bled to death
- 22:35Speaker 9: right there. So how is it racial at all? I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 9: what are we supposed to say? Oh, what he did
- 22:44Speaker 9: was okay because he's black and the victim's white. Somehow
- 22:48Speaker 9: this is racial. We're at the point where African-Americans and
- 22:52Speaker 9: some African-Americans can't realize, wait a minute. They asked the
- 22:55Speaker 9: kid to leave. He didn't belong there. And they kept
- 22:58Speaker 9: asking him to leave some. So one of these kids
- 23:01Speaker 9: pushed him and this kid pulled out a knife and
- 23:03Speaker 9: stabbed him basically right in the heart.
- 23:05Speaker 3: And we're supposed to act like that's okay.
- 23:08Speaker 7: You know, the thing is, my issue is this. One,
- 23:14Speaker 7: if he was guilty, I don't know the intricate details.
- 23:18Speaker 7: I wasn't on the jury. But I do have to
- 23:21Speaker 7: disagree with the amount of time that he was given,
- 23:24Speaker 7: 35 years for a person that's that young. I mean,
- 23:26Speaker 7: now hear me out. I see a lot of times
- 23:28Speaker 7: that there are individuals that are older that get less time.
- 23:33Speaker 7: And again, my point is what I was going to
- 23:36Speaker 7: say earlier. I think what we have a problem is
- 23:38Speaker 7: is that in high school and even earlier in ages,
- 23:40Speaker 7: we should have in school, just like math, arithmetic, English,
- 23:45Speaker 7: social sciences, whatever, we have to have classes for problem
- 23:51Speaker 7: solving and for conflict resolving. Because kids at those ages,
- 23:56Speaker 7: and again, I'm not giving anybody a free pass, that they're,
- 24:00Speaker 7: and then I'm not making excuses, their brains aren't, functioning
- 24:03Speaker 7: as mature like you and I, where you and I
- 24:06Speaker 7: can look at a situation..
- 24:07Speaker 3: Well, come on now. Tap the brakes here.
- 24:09Speaker 7: I'm just saying that we should have conflict resolutions where
- 24:12Speaker 7: they're younger.
- 24:13Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
- 24:14Speaker 9: Let me ask you something. At whatever age this kid was,
- 24:20Speaker 9: what were they... Okay, he's 19 years old, so he
- 24:25Speaker 9: would have been, let's see, 17 maybe at the time.
- 24:28Speaker 9: So did you think when you were 17 years old
- 24:32Speaker 9: that it was okay to stab some kid with a
- 24:34Speaker 9: knife in the heart?
- 24:35Speaker 3: Well, there you go.
- 24:37Speaker 7: My parents taught me how to resolve my conflicts, at
- 24:41Speaker 7: least attempted to at that age, to resolve my conflicts
- 24:44Speaker 7: without violence. And the thing is that I'm not giving
- 24:46Speaker 7: anybody a free pass. I'm just trying to understand one
- 24:50Speaker 7: person at that age. I'm not giving him any excuses. Ron,
- 24:53Speaker 7: please understand that, that he's guilty. He's got to do time.
- 24:56Speaker 7: I mean, I don't care if he's 13 years old.
- 24:58Speaker 7: He's got to do time. But I'm just saying.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:03Speaker 9: But hang on a second. The kid, the victim is
- 25:06Speaker 9: dead forever. Their child is dead. So this kid gets
- 25:11Speaker 9: sentenced to 35 years because he murdered somebody. That family
- 25:16Speaker 9: will grieve for the rest of their lives because this
- 25:20Speaker 9: kid basically killed him right in front of his own
- 25:23Speaker 9: brother and these other people that were there.
- 25:26Speaker 3: He's the instigator.
- 25:27Speaker 9: The African-American kid, it doesn't matter what his color is,
- 25:31Speaker 9: was where he didn't belong in this tent forever. whatever
- 25:34Speaker 9: this team tent, he didn't belong there. He was asked
- 25:37Speaker 9: to leave. He wouldn't leave. They kept asking him to leave.
- 25:40Speaker 9: Then one of the guys pushes him and says, you
- 25:42Speaker 9: got to go. And he whips out a knife and
- 25:44Speaker 9: stabs a kid who pushed him in the heart.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Now I don't give a damn. At 17, you know,
- 25:47Speaker 3: that's wrong. At 17, you know, that's wrong.
- 25:53Speaker 7: Of course I do. Of course I do. But the
- 25:55Speaker 7: thing is that I'm just trying to look. I'm not
- 25:58Speaker 7: looking at it in a black and white sense or
- 26:01Speaker 7: in a racial sense in any way, shape, or form.
- 26:03Speaker 7: I'm looking at it in the sense that people at
- 26:06Speaker 7: that age, and even people that are— I' m going to be
- 26:08Speaker 7: 64 next month. People even my age don't know how
- 26:11Speaker 7: to resolve conflicts without— going head over heels crazy. And
- 26:17Speaker 7: I'm thinking that that's part of the thing that we
- 26:18Speaker 7: have to learn how to deal with conflicts without resorting
- 26:23Speaker 7: to him. When he got pushed, first.
- 26:25Speaker 12: Of all, he wasn't supposed to be there. I understand that.
- 26:28Speaker 7: He created this. It's like lighting the match. He created that.
- 26:32Speaker 2: But..
- 26:33Speaker 7: If he would be taught in school whether he has
- 26:35Speaker 7: no family that's guiding him, if he would learn how
- 26:40Speaker 7: to handle conflicts without violence.
- 26:44Speaker 12: And again, maybe I'm a bleeding heart.
- 26:45Speaker 7: Maybe you guys are all going to hate me for this.
- 26:46Speaker 7: I understand. I'm not saying he shouldn't do time. I'm
- 26:49Speaker 7: just saying that we should try to avoid this in
- 26:51Speaker 7: the future by teaching young people how to resolve their
- 26:54Speaker 7: conflicts properly. without violence. But I agree that that's... And plus,
- 27:04Speaker 7: they can't complain about the jury because you wadeered. His
- 27:08Speaker 7: attorney had that opportunity to wadeer those jurors, and he's
- 27:13Speaker 7: the one that agreed with them with the prosecution that
- 27:15Speaker 7: those jurors are okay. So they can't really turn around
- 27:18Speaker 7: and now say, well, these jurors are all white or
- 27:20Speaker 7: these jurors are racist or anything because he had his
- 27:22Speaker 7: opportunity His defense attorney had his opportunity to ask questions
- 27:26Speaker 7: to those jurors, respectable jurors, and then either dismiss them
- 27:31Speaker 7: or accept them. And that's on his attorney. I'm not
- 27:35Speaker 7: blaming the jurors. They're seeing something maybe differently than I am,
- 27:40Speaker 7: and they're listening to the trial. But I just want
- 27:46Speaker 7: to— because it all happens for all of us that we've
- 27:49Speaker 7: got to learn to deal with conflict differently. And I've
- 27:53Speaker 7: got a hot head.
- 27:54Speaker 3: You know that.
- 27:55Speaker 7: And I always have to turn around and take a
- 27:56Speaker 7: couple steps and a couple breathing exercises just to resolve mine.
- 28:00Speaker 7: But I just really believe that we should try to
- 28:02Speaker 7: in the future to do that. And as I said,
- 28:05Speaker 7: I'm just trying to.
- 28:08Speaker 3: I got you. Sit tight for a second. I just
- 28:11Speaker 3: want everyone to hear the details here. All right. So
- 28:13Speaker 3: this Carmelo Anthony, he was 17 at the time.
- 28:18Speaker 9: He fatally stabbed another 17-year-old, this Austin Metcalf, at a Frisco,
- 28:24Speaker 9: Texas track meet. This was April 2nd in 2025. Now, okay,
- 28:29Speaker 9: so Carmelo Anthony followed Metcalf into the Frisco Memorial High
- 28:35Speaker 9: School team tent during a rain delay. ignoring repeated requests
- 28:41Speaker 9: to leave, and ultimately stabbed Metcalf in the chest with
- 28:45Speaker 9: a knife. So here's some of the details. Anthony entered
- 28:49Speaker 9: the opposing team's tents uninvited and sat down, prompting Metcalf
- 28:54Speaker 9: and several other student-athletes to ask him to leave. Around
- 28:57Speaker 9: 15 times they asked him to leave. Witnesses testified that
- 29:03Speaker 9: Anthony refused to leave, used profane language, and replied, Touch
- 29:10Speaker 9: me and see what happens while reaching inside his bag.
- 29:14Speaker 9: After Metcalf shoved Anthony in the chest in arms to
- 29:18Speaker 9: push him out of the tent area, Anthony pulled out
- 29:21Speaker 9: a knife and fatally stabbed Metcalf in the chest. Metcalf
- 29:26Speaker 9: tragically died in his twin brother's arms. Following the incident,
- 29:31Speaker 9: Anthony walked across the field and admitted to a school
- 29:34Speaker 9: resource officer, I'm not alleged, I did it. Anthony claiming
- 29:39Speaker 9: he accidentally in self-defense. A Texas jury rejected the self-defense
- 29:43Speaker 9: argument and found him guilty of first-degree murder, sentencing him
- 29:47Speaker 9: to 35 years in prison. In other words, they asked
- 29:49Speaker 9: him to leave 15 times, and he didn't leave. And
- 29:54Speaker 9: even if the kid pushed him to leave... Why didn't
- 29:57Speaker 9: he leave then? So they asked him to leave.
- 30:00Speaker 7: The problem is that he continued to, the black kid.
- 30:03Speaker 12: Continued to instigate and to.
- 30:05Speaker 7: Antagonize them by saying, push me and see what happens.
- 30:10Speaker 7: He knew that if that's going to happen, he's going
- 30:12Speaker 7: to antagonize that other kid to take action and to
- 30:16Speaker 7: push him, which under those circumstances, hey, I'm defending my territory.
- 30:20Speaker 7: And his claim of self-defense, is out the window. He
- 30:25Speaker 7: shouldn't even abuse you through his himself on the, you know,
- 30:30Speaker 7: the mercy of the court because that didn't work and
- 30:32Speaker 7: it would have not worked with me. So I did
- 30:34Speaker 7: not know that and I still think that he should
- 30:37Speaker 7: be found guilty. First degree murder and that's kind of
- 30:39Speaker 7: touchy because even though he said that, you know, that
- 30:42Speaker 7: to touch me, she would happen to you. His mindset
- 30:44Speaker 7: was there that.
- 30:45Speaker 12: If he does touch him, he knew that he was
- 30:46Speaker 12: going to use that knife.
- 30:48Speaker 7: So I agree with that, that that's, but again, Um, it's, it's,
- 30:53Speaker 7: he should have not gone over there. He was looking
- 30:55Speaker 7: for a problem. And that's where I, I, I'm, I'm,
- 30:58Speaker 7: I'm trying to say at one point he should have
- 31:01Speaker 7: learned somehow we should try to help these, not just
- 31:05Speaker 7: black and white kid to be able to realize you're
- 31:08Speaker 7: doing something wrong. You got to understand the ramifications to
- 31:11Speaker 7: what the actions you're taking. And that if somebody else
- 31:15Speaker 7: takes those actions against you, whether they're right, wrong, or,
- 31:17Speaker 7: or deserved, um, that you have to pay those consequences.
- 31:20Speaker 7: So I am in no way, shape, or form giving
- 31:23Speaker 7: him a free pass. I just think the 35 years
- 31:26Speaker 7: is a little bit long, even though he did kill somebody.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Well, what should I..
- 31:29Speaker 9: Okay, so what, in your opinion, would have been a
- 31:31Speaker 9: just sentence?
- 31:32Speaker 7: 20 years with possibility of parole in 18, 15 to 18.
- 31:37Speaker 7: Depending upon what he did in prison, if he turns
- 31:41Speaker 7: out to be a gangbanger, then he's doing life. But
- 31:44Speaker 7: if he realizes maybe through some things, organization in the
- 31:50Speaker 7: prison where it helps him get an education, continuous education,
- 31:53Speaker 7: he becomes a better person somehow. People do make mistakes
- 31:56Speaker 7: and then are horrible people and they change. Now, again,
- 31:59Speaker 7: if he would do that, then I'd say maybe 15
- 32:01Speaker 7: to 20 years. If he could be a possible benefit
- 32:05Speaker 7: to society, then maybe we can possibly look at it.
- 32:07Speaker 7: But 35 years, again, he's my age when he's getting
- 32:11Speaker 7: out of his life. He's over just like the person
- 32:13Speaker 7: he murdered. So, again, it's a very, very heated situation,
- 32:18Speaker 7: and I feel bad for everybody, especially the kid that
- 32:21Speaker 7: was lying there dying. And I'm not— as you said, it's
- 32:25Speaker 7: something that I wish— That it would be different, you know,
- 32:29Speaker 7: because both the lives are just ruined now because of
- 32:32Speaker 7: his actions. And it's it's unacceptable. But again, the 35
- 32:36Speaker 7: years seems pretty harsh because I've seen people that murdered
- 32:40Speaker 7: children and it got got pushed on that. And it's
- 32:43Speaker 7: but anyway, you understand people's anger there. And it's and
- 32:47Speaker 7: it's and it's well adjusted. But I don't believe people
- 32:50Speaker 7: should protest.
- 32:54Speaker 9: They want to make it into a black-white issue because
- 32:57Speaker 9: the stabbing was black and a kid that's a victim
- 33:00Speaker 9: is white. And it was heard by a jury. And
- 33:04Speaker 9: a jury made the decision of, guess what? You shouldn't
- 33:07Speaker 9: have pulled out a knife and stabbed him basically in
- 33:09Speaker 9: the heart and killed him right then and there. This
- 33:11Speaker 9: has nothing to do with black and white. It is,
- 33:14Speaker 9: as you identified, a kid who didn't belong there. They
- 33:17Speaker 9: asked him to leave. He wouldn't leave. Then when the
- 33:20Speaker 9: kid shoved him to leave, it doesn't mean that you
- 33:22Speaker 9: come back and stab him. It means you leave. This
- 33:25Speaker 9: isn't your team tent.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Get out.
- 33:27Speaker 7: Because he said what you said. It said in the
- 33:30Speaker 7: paper that he said, touch me and see what happens.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 33:33Speaker 12: So he knew in the back of his mind, if he.
- 33:35Speaker 7: Touches me, I have my pocket knife on him. I'm
- 33:37Speaker 7: going to attack him.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:39Speaker 7: And that was where he could be considered and should
- 33:41Speaker 7: be considered first degree. But, again, I'm on a teetering
- 33:44Speaker 7: right there where, you know, I– He's got to do
- 33:48Speaker 7: the time. But again, 35 years is an awful lot
- 33:51Speaker 7: of time. But again, I'm upset, too, that he killed this.
- 33:56Speaker 7: And if that was my son or if it was
- 33:58Speaker 7: my brother, I don't think I'd be too... I think
- 34:02Speaker 7: 35 years might be appropriate. So it depends on... And
- 34:07Speaker 7: I just feel bad, feel horrible that that had happened.
- 34:09Speaker 7: But we need to give these people, all children, and
- 34:13Speaker 7: even individuals, adults... You just got to learn to deal
- 34:19Speaker 7: with conflicts. And again, I'm learning as I'm getting older, too,
- 34:23Speaker 7: but we can't resolve to the violence just automatically just
- 34:26Speaker 7: because somebody pushes you, you're going to pull out a
- 34:28Speaker 7: gun or a knife and kill somebody. That's not good.
- 34:33Speaker 7: And I've seen a lot of young people around nowadays,
- 34:37Speaker 7: and I'm sure you have to agree, and I see
- 34:39Speaker 7: it on YouTube, these kids are nuts. And, you know,
- 34:42Speaker 7: whether it's lack of parenting, whatever it might be, it
- 34:45Speaker 7: needs to be adjusted. But the other thing is we
- 34:47Speaker 7: need to start to look into renewable energy. And I
- 34:50Speaker 7: know it takes time, but we should not get away
- 34:53Speaker 7: from coal right now. We should just slowly transition because...
- 34:57Speaker 7: We always talk about our children and having the opportunity
- 35:00Speaker 7: to be able to have a future. If we continue
- 35:02Speaker 7: to do the things that we're doing, they're not going
- 35:04Speaker 7: to have a future. And I really, and you know me,
- 35:07Speaker 7: I'm a bleeding heart. I just think that we can
- 35:09Speaker 7: resolve these problems. We're human beings. We're not dumb. And
- 35:12Speaker 7: so I thank you for listening, my friend, and I
- 35:14Speaker 7: appreciate you encountering me and having a discussion with me
- 35:17Speaker 7: about this.
- 35:17Speaker 3: You got it.
- 35:18Speaker 9: JJ the liberal, always there after the Guardians game, getting

- 36:29Speaker 10: I'm talking about this case with Carmelo Anthony.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:32Speaker 10: Listen, CJ, seriously. I mean, this is cut and dry.
- 36:37Speaker 10: Did you kill somebody? Yes or no? There's no if-then statement.
- 36:42Speaker 7: There's no..
- 36:46Speaker 12: You killed somebody.
- 36:47Speaker 10: You killed another kid. I don't care if you're black, Chinese,
- 36:49Speaker 10: Puerto Rican, Mexican. I don't care. If you killed my son,
- 36:52Speaker 10: I want the death penalty. As a matter of fact,
- 36:55Speaker 10: 30 years, 35, that's a joke to me. You want
- 36:59Speaker 10: to give him 18 with the promise of parole?
- 37:02Speaker 4: No, I want you to die.
- 37:03Speaker 12: I want you to die.
- 37:05Speaker 10: If you killed my son, I don't care if you're black, Chinese, Asian.
- 37:09Speaker 10: I don't care if you're Italian. I want you dead.
- 37:11Speaker 7: What is all this?
- 37:15Speaker 10: It's not a race thing. It has nothing to do
- 37:17Speaker 10: with race. This is the dumbest even conversation ever. Why would...
- 37:22Speaker 10: What makes this..
- 37:23Speaker 7: Seriously.
- 37:27Speaker 12: I am lacking..
- 37:28Speaker 10: I am struggling to understand even where anybody would even
- 37:31Speaker 10: have another opinion.
- 37:32Speaker 7: On this one.
- 37:33Speaker 10: It wasn't self-defense.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 37:36Speaker 9: I mean, as I said, they asked him to leave.
- 37:39Speaker 9: They said 15 times. Then when he didn't do that,
- 37:43Speaker 9: so the kid pushed him... And the kid whipped out
- 37:45Speaker 9: a knife. And instead of leaving, pushed him and said, hey,
- 37:47Speaker 9: you got to get out of here. Instead of just
- 37:50Speaker 9: leaving like he should have in the first place, he
- 37:51Speaker 9: whips out a knife and he stabs the kid to death.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I mean, I think J.J.
- 37:57Speaker 9: 's argument, I think, is you're dealing here with a
- 37:59Speaker 9: 17-year-old kid who's just..
- 38:02Speaker 10: Who's just tried as an adult, and he wanted to
- 38:04Speaker 10: play big boy games, and he got a big boy penalty.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:07Speaker 10: Okay? And 17, if you don't know that a proper
- 38:11Speaker 10: response to a sub isn't a stab, then... What do
- 38:17Speaker 10: you want me to say to that?
- 38:19Speaker 7: Right.
- 38:19Speaker 9: But how come we always look at the person that
- 38:23Speaker 9: did the crime? Why don't we think about the victim?
- 38:25Speaker 9: The victim's dead forever. What about the victim's family?
- 38:28Speaker 10: He was where he wasn't supposed to be.
- 38:33Speaker 7: And you know what?
- 38:34Speaker 10: Honestly, I don't even want to get into that because
- 38:36Speaker 10: that's irregardless.
- 38:37Speaker 7: It's regardless. It's regardless. Who cares?
- 38:38Speaker 10: I don't even care what was said. I don't care
- 38:41Speaker 10: even if the words were vile that were exchanged.
- 38:44Speaker 7: That means nothing.
- 38:46Speaker 10: They break my bones. I mean, they never heard that.
- 38:49Speaker 10: You know, I mean, who cares? I don't even care
- 38:52Speaker 10: what was said. I don't even care if the white
- 38:54Speaker 10: kid said you're this, you're that. I don't even care.
- 38:57Speaker 10: It's the black kid said.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Listen, boss lady, here's a key question.
- 39:01Speaker 9: Gee, okay, so you have a lot of people who
- 39:04Speaker 9: want to make it a racial issue because the kid
- 39:05Speaker 9: who stabbed him was black and the kid who got...
- 39:07Speaker 9: who was killed, was white, and they want to act
- 39:09Speaker 9: like he got a raw deal because they found him guilty.
- 39:12Speaker 9: Let me ask you, what do you think they would
- 39:14Speaker 9: do if it was the other way around? If the
- 39:17Speaker 9: kid that did the stabbing was white and the kid
- 39:22Speaker 9: that got stabbed and died was black, do you think
- 39:25Speaker 9: they'd be out protesting?
- 39:27Speaker 10: No, they wouldn't.
- 39:29Speaker 7: No, they wouldn't.
- 39:30Speaker 10: And they assume, they're making the assumption that white people
- 39:34Speaker 10: are racist who agree with the verdict.
- 39:36Speaker 7: Right. That is bull. That is nonsense. I don't agree.
- 39:40Speaker 10: First of all, I don't think the verdict is harsh enough.
- 39:43Speaker 10: I don't think it's harsh enough because if you killed
- 39:45Speaker 10: my son, I would want the death penalty.
- 39:48Speaker 3: There you go.
- 39:51Speaker 10: You want him out when he's what? You want him
- 39:53Speaker 10: to get out when he's mid-30s? He's going to live
- 39:56Speaker 10: a happy life.
- 39:57Speaker 9: I'm telling you this, folks. I do not want to
- 39:59Speaker 9: get on the bad side of the boss lady. You
- 40:01Speaker 9: hear me, all of you listening? I would never want
- 40:04Speaker 9: to get on her bad side. I'm glad you called
- 40:07Speaker 9: and I'm glad you didn't hesitate because you make a
- 40:09Speaker 9: great contribution. Thank you, boss lady. I'll be right back
- 40:12Speaker 9: after this.
- 40:18Speaker 6: From ABC News.
- 40:21Speaker 13: I'm Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime, streaming weeknights on ABC

- 40:42Speaker 3: Army helicopter.
- 40:44Speaker 13: The renewed action led to higher oil prices today, with
- 40:46Speaker 13: Wall Street stock indexes closing sharply lower. the president said
- 40:50Speaker 13: the u.s. would attack iran again today.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Be attacking them attacking them very hard.
- 40:55Speaker 13: ABC's Karen Travers at the White House.
- 40:57Speaker 14: It's not clear what the president is going to do.
- 40:59Speaker 14: Those strikes that were in response to the Iranians taking
- 41:02Speaker 14: down that Apache helicopter were said to be proportional.
- 41:06Speaker 10: That was according to U.S.
- 41:07Speaker 9: Officials.
- 41:08Speaker 14: But now today, the president indicating that there could be
- 41:11Speaker 14: more to come. But he says that is because the
- 41:14Speaker 14: Iranians have taken too long to negotiate.
- 41:17Speaker 13: President Trump on social media says a secret mission last
- 41:20Speaker 13: month allowed hundreds of oil tankers to travel through the

- 41:25Speaker 13: asked about the latest Consumer Price Index showing the highest
- 41:28Speaker 13: inflation in three years.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I love the inflation.
- 41:30Speaker 3: You know why?
- 41:31Speaker 9: Because as soon as this war is over, you know,
- 41:34Speaker 9: I can say it now, something you didn't know.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Do you know we've been taking out millions of barrels
- 41:41Speaker 3: of oil?
- 41:41Speaker 13: So far, no confirmation of a secret oil transport operation.
- 41:45Speaker 13: Analyst Stephen Cates at Bankrate doesn't see the current inflation
- 41:48Speaker 13: as short term.
- 41:49Speaker 11: I think that we may start to settle more. you know,
- 41:53Speaker 11: into a bit of a high level, higher for longer here.
- 41:56Speaker 11: So I don't think that we're necessarily going to keep
- 41:58Speaker 11: accelerating at this pace, but we're going to have inflation
- 42:01Speaker 11: that's elevated for the duration of this conflict.
- 42:04Speaker 13: President Trump signed into law a $ 70 billion funding bill
