- 0:08Speaker 1: Hey, exciting young prospect in the Brewer system. Andrew Fisher
- 0:11Speaker 1: joining us right now? Andrew reappreciate the time man, loving
- 0:14Speaker 1: watching you do your work in the miners and can't
- 0:16Speaker 1: wait to see you in the show someday.
- 0:18Speaker 2: How you doing, what's going on? I appreciate you guys
- 0:20Speaker 2: having me on here.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Great to have you. So you're I want to start
- 0:23Speaker 1: here because I'm a New Jersey native. So were you
- 0:26Speaker 1: a hoops fan growing up?
- 0:30Speaker 3: No?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Like, nothing crazy. Once I got to college, I guess
- 0:35Speaker 4: like follow Duke a little bit just because I was there.
- 0:37Speaker 4: And then aside from that though, like not really big
- 0:40Speaker 4: into basketball.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Okay, just was checking Todd father obviously the Nick's kind
- 0:44Speaker 1: of taking over the city for a little while to
- 0:46Speaker 1: see if that was a big thing or not too
- 0:49Speaker 1: big right.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Now for you? Right I'm watching ball go ahead?
- 0:52Speaker 5: Crazy, No, No, I'm I'm gonna interrupt Todd. We try
- 0:55Speaker 5: not to interrupt each other, Andrew, but I've heard a
- 0:58Speaker 5: lot of things like broo yo yo, I hit up
- 1:01Speaker 5: Andrew after you hit that home run, you know, fishing
- 1:03Speaker 5: he's right down the street. I want to know on
- 1:06Speaker 5: a level of annoying to not annoying, how often does
- 1:11Speaker 5: Todd hit you up? Is it only when you do well?
- 1:15Speaker 5: Or does he hit you up when you have three
- 1:16Speaker 5: punch outs in the game.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's good.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I so growing up, I had a chance to play
- 1:23Speaker 4: for their travel team and like get lessons with these guys.
- 1:26Speaker 4: It's just been it's been great keeping that relationship over
- 1:28Speaker 4: these years, and they've been great mentors to me.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Like, it's just been been awesome.
- 1:34Speaker 4: So I'm glad that we stay in touch and and
- 1:36Speaker 4: touch base.
- 1:37Speaker 2: So it's good.
- 1:38Speaker 4: He's just hearing his voice every now and again through
- 1:41Speaker 4: the texts is great and it keeps me in check.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Can you see this picture that's on there right now?
- 1:48Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:48Speaker 2: I can, I see?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Dude.
- 1:51Speaker 7: It's funny because something most of the time I don't remember,
- 1:55Speaker 7: you know, working with kids, but seeing you in there, dude,
- 1:58Speaker 7: you were so you were just so all right there
- 2:00Speaker 7: and people don't understand, like when you see your hands
- 2:04Speaker 7: were kind of up trying to figure out your swing.
- 2:06Speaker 7: It's like, man, who is this kid? What is he
- 2:08Speaker 7: gonna be? And I'm like, I kept telling my brother
- 2:11Speaker 7: just you know, and my brother Jeff, who worked with
- 2:13Speaker 7: you a lot more than me, but just keep watching
- 2:15Speaker 7: this kid, and eventually you got bigger, you got stronger,
- 2:19Speaker 7: and you come from a great background.
- 2:21Speaker 3: So it's like you.
- 2:22Speaker 7: Never know what some lanky guy that you know can't
- 2:26Speaker 7: even control the barrel as much at a young age
- 2:28Speaker 7: can turn into when you look at yourself, man, pretty cool.
- 2:32Speaker 4: No, it's it was awesome just taking little things each day,
- 2:36Speaker 4: trying to stack good days. It's even more now that
- 2:39Speaker 4: where I'm in the pro balls, I'm still learning, like
- 2:41Speaker 4: you gotta gotta stack a little something each day.
- 2:44Speaker 2: You can't. There is no finished product in.
- 2:47Speaker 4: June, so it's you're trying to win the race in October.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And I was still stacking good days.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Like like you said back in back in the day,
- 2:56Speaker 4: I was, I was skinny, I was tiny, the bat
- 3:00Speaker 4: was swing at me. But now I put a little
- 3:01Speaker 4: bit of size and it's it's worked out.
- 3:05Speaker 7: So I want I want to go back and well
- 3:07Speaker 7: not a little bit ago. So you figure out where
- 3:11Speaker 7: you want to go to college, right, so you first
- 3:13Speaker 7: go to Duke, then you go to another powerhouse. The
- 3:16Speaker 7: next year was at Ole, miss if I'm not mistaken,
- 3:20Speaker 7: and then eventually Tennessee crazy craziness because when I think
- 3:24Speaker 7: about when I played them, like, I wonder how it
- 3:27Speaker 7: would have been if I played with.
- 3:28Speaker 3: All the nil and everything else.
- 3:30Speaker 7: Just talk about those decisions a little bit and how
- 3:33Speaker 7: all three of them impacted you to where you are
- 3:36Speaker 7: right now.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Yeah, so I get a chance to go to Duke
- 3:41Speaker 4: get get that opportunity. Coach Paulack came along and offered
- 3:46Speaker 4: me that spot, and uh just kind of took it
- 3:49Speaker 4: and ran with it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Try to make the most of it.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I was a little bit of a deer in headlights
- 3:52Speaker 4: in the fall, just trying to figure things out. Luckily
- 3:56Speaker 4: I had the like right people around me, right teammates,
- 4:00Speaker 4: couple of fifth years, senior guys that put their arm
- 4:02Speaker 4: around me to kind of show me the ropes. And
- 4:04Speaker 4: I always try to give as much props to those
- 4:06Speaker 4: guys as I can, because it is really them who
- 4:08Speaker 4: turned me into the player I am now, because they
- 4:10Speaker 4: showed me like, hey, we might not have the talent.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But we got the work, I think.
- 4:14Speaker 4: So that's why we're here, and we're gonna show you
- 4:16Speaker 4: how to work hard and show you what real work looks.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Like behind the scenes.
- 4:19Speaker 4: And they kind of wh me in the shape and
- 4:21Speaker 4: the fall, So that was good.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So props to those guys.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Then I get over to Ole miss and you get
- 4:27Speaker 4: a chance to be on the big scene with all
- 4:29Speaker 4: the fans, and I mean it's a crowd that you
- 4:32Speaker 4: could be their favorite player. And if you're over four,
- 4:35Speaker 4: you're getting booed on your fourth that back fit, that
- 4:37Speaker 4: back going up there, so they.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Care a lot. The community is great. It's it's really
- 4:42Speaker 2: was really really cool.
- 4:43Speaker 4: It was a great experience and I developed just there
- 4:46Speaker 4: by the exposure to that league, that conference, the great players,
- 4:50Speaker 4: the list goes on the talent that we had and face.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So that was good. And you get a chance to
- 4:56Speaker 2: play for Tony.
- 4:57Speaker 4: V and my last year in college, which he's unbelievable,
- 5:02Speaker 4: and I'm I watch almost every single game I can
- 5:05Speaker 4: that the Giants play just because how involved he's been
- 5:09Speaker 4: still to this day in my career.
- 5:11Speaker 2: So he's he's a great guy.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Some great people over there at Tennessee, and you know,
- 5:17Speaker 4: Rocky Top's gonna feel like home so for forever.
- 5:22Speaker 5: All right, Well, I don't know if you've seen the
- 5:24Speaker 5: latest proposal. I'm not saying we need to go through
- 5:26Speaker 5: the latest proposal by the league. Do you think college
- 5:30Speaker 5: baseball develops players enough to be big league players compared
- 5:35Speaker 5: to where you're at right now in the minor leagues
- 5:38Speaker 5: developing players.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, right now.
- 5:40Speaker 4: I think the talent I was around, especially this past
- 5:44Speaker 4: level that I just got through was High A. It's
- 5:47Speaker 4: like a bunch of raw talent. You've got guys throwing
- 5:50Speaker 4: super hard. You've got guys that have big league stuff
- 5:54Speaker 4: and they can make the ball do some crazy things,
- 5:57Speaker 4: but sometimes their command isn't there. Or you got guys
- 6:01Speaker 4: who are four or five tool guys. They can they
- 6:03Speaker 4: can run the six h sixty, they can hit balls
- 6:05Speaker 4: one hundred and ten miles an hour, and they're just
- 6:08Speaker 4: just so close to putting it together. And then now
- 6:10Speaker 4: here you got guys in double A who are putting
- 6:13Speaker 4: it together and they're trying to prove themselves. They got
- 6:16Speaker 4: depth that they're they're trying to break themselves into the
- 6:19Speaker 4: lineups and levels above. So it's good. I think the
- 6:23Speaker 4: talent here is great. The one thing I would say is, uh,
- 6:26Speaker 4: in college, you get a you get an atmosphere of
- 6:29Speaker 4: guys that are just like ingrained the mentality of it's
- 6:33Speaker 4: anything we can do to win, like no matter what,
- 6:36Speaker 4: we are going to do, whatever it takes to win,
- 6:38Speaker 4: And like I said, those fiftier guys for me were
- 6:41Speaker 4: crucial my freshman year.
- 6:43Speaker 3: They I didn't.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Realize how much it meant to win those games that
- 6:48Speaker 4: were even like midweek game against you know, West whatever
- 6:54Speaker 4: school or whatever, and those wins matter.
- 6:57Speaker 2: So they these guys showed me to add.
- 6:59Speaker 4: And I think you get to see a difference between
- 7:03Speaker 4: the college guys and pro ball in the minor leagues
- 7:05Speaker 4: versus the high school guys, because these guys are the
- 7:08Speaker 4: ones that come back in the locker room after a loss.
- 7:10Speaker 4: They go three for four with two doubles and four
- 7:14Speaker 4: RBIs on the day, and we lost that game, and
- 7:17Speaker 4: these college kids are upset, like like truly, you could
- 7:20Speaker 4: see it. They're frustrated, they're upset Versus some of the
- 7:23Speaker 4: younger guys who might not have had that experience in
- 7:25Speaker 4: college are you know there they have their you know,
- 7:29Speaker 4: two for five day with two homers and they're juiced
- 7:33Speaker 4: and you're kind.
- 7:34Speaker 2: They don't really have that feel yet.
- 7:35Speaker 4: So I think over time the younger guys, the high
- 7:39Speaker 4: school guys eventually learned that. But I think that college
- 7:42Speaker 4: experience for me like just learning how to win and
- 7:44Speaker 4: how to handle winning and also how to handle losing.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Like we didn't I didn't go to Omaha, and.
- 7:49Speaker 4: That's still something that like I look back on, like
- 7:51Speaker 4: what could have done differently, But it like keeps you
- 7:53Speaker 4: hungry after those losses to figure out what is it
- 7:56Speaker 4: you got to do next and how do you get better?
- 7:58Speaker 2: How do you make this team better to feel that success.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Eventually, support for today's episode comes from Square, and they've
- 8:05Speaker 1: got big news. During squares Biannual Releases event, they launched
- 8:08Speaker 1: a wave of innovative new tools to help local businesses
- 8:10Speaker 1: run faster, smarter, and more profitably. Square is awesome. Around Orlando,
- 8:15Speaker 1: where AJ and I live. We go to the farmers'
- 8:17Speaker 1: markets around town. I go to the one near Lake Iola.
- 8:20Speaker 1: It's awesome. I use Square to pay with my phone.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I get the receipt right away.
- 8:23Speaker 3: It's great.
- 8:24Speaker 6: And so many businesses, not just small businesses, uses, so
- 8:26Speaker 6: many restaurants and businesses I walk into, not only in Orlando,
- 8:29Speaker 6: but all over the country have these and you just
- 8:33Speaker 6: use your credit card, pops out a receipt, emails it
- 8:36Speaker 6: right to you. It's so fast, it's so efficient, it's
- 8:38Speaker 6: so hassle free. It's one of the great things that
- 8:40Speaker 6: you have going.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Square launched its most powerful tools yet, designed to give
- 8:44Speaker 1: local businesses a competitive edge without the complexity. If you're
- 8:48Speaker 1: ready to sell smarter, run faster, and stress less right now,
- 8:50Speaker 1: you can get up to two hundred dollars off Square

- 8:56Speaker 1: Square dot com slash go slash foul. Run your business
- 9:00Speaker 1: r with Square. Get started today.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Those older players, you'll feel the same thing when you
- 9:06Speaker 5: have some vets when you're in the show too. So
- 9:08Speaker 5: you have that to look forward to guys that'll help
- 9:11Speaker 5: you learn it. But you got your You're right in
- 9:13Speaker 5: it right now. You got to give me a definitive answer.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Is the SEC better than high A?
- 9:22Speaker 2: What would say?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, so SEC give me your Friday night, your
- 9:27Speaker 4: best guy with ten thousand in the crowd, and you
- 9:30Speaker 4: got the adrenaline pump in.
- 9:32Speaker 2: It's it's real stuff. It's real, real stuff.
- 9:35Speaker 4: You're looking at guys who could be two, three and
- 9:37Speaker 4: fours in big leagu rotation right now and could impact
- 9:40Speaker 4: the team today.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I think there's guys right now that are playing in
- 9:43Speaker 2: SEC ACC.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Whatever those other conferences are there that could literally impact
- 9:49Speaker 4: the big league team today and help them win a
- 9:51Speaker 4: playoff game.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Or or make a push.
- 9:55Speaker 4: As far as like selecting a level that I think
- 9:58Speaker 4: it would go to, I don't, no.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I just think that depth is better.
- 10:03Speaker 4: In the ACC and SEC as like more complete arms
- 10:07Speaker 4: that are gonna compete to win games. It's like, you
- 10:10Speaker 4: got guys that are out here. They walk three four
- 10:13Speaker 4: guys in a row. It's no big deal. We walk
- 10:16Speaker 4: one guy. In college, we got the whole pen up
- 10:18Speaker 4: and moving. You lot two guys, someone else is coming
- 10:21Speaker 4: in the game. If you if there's a third guy
- 10:23Speaker 4: that walks in a row, that that kid might not
- 10:25Speaker 4: see the mound again for two months, which is a
- 10:27Speaker 4: big deal in college.
- 10:29Speaker 2: So you learn a lot about that in the fall
- 10:32Speaker 2: as well.
- 10:33Speaker 4: They create these environments where you're doing intersquad scrimmages and
- 10:38Speaker 4: it's it's good because they hold you to the standard
- 10:40Speaker 4: that they expect in the regular season in college in
- 10:45Speaker 4: the fall, so you learn what that environment's like. Where here,
- 10:48Speaker 4: it's like there's so much like trial and error, Like hey,
- 10:51Speaker 4: what if we include like this pitch into this guy's
- 10:54Speaker 4: arsenal and we tell him he has to throw.
- 10:56Speaker 2: It forty percent of the time, and same thing with me,
- 10:59Speaker 2: like all right, we.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Really want you to work on uh, you know, swinging
- 11:03Speaker 4: a breaking balls in the zone.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So for me, it's like I could go up there.
- 11:07Speaker 4: And punch on three pitches that are fastballs middle and
- 11:10Speaker 4: I come back and I get praised, like, hey, you
- 11:12Speaker 4: know we had we say, you plan, we're working on
- 11:16Speaker 4: you know, a ton only breaking balls. We don't want
- 11:18Speaker 4: you to chase them down. We want you to see
- 11:20Speaker 4: ones in the zone. And I mean, you just don't
- 11:22Speaker 4: get fastballs, I'm sorry, breaking balls every time, so you
- 11:27Speaker 4: might go that whole at bat without seeing it, and
- 11:29Speaker 4: they they're like, okay, hey, we we gave you this plan,
- 11:31Speaker 4: this this task, and you conquered it.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So that's a good thing.
- 11:35Speaker 4: They're trying to develop the player more versus like in
- 11:38Speaker 4: college or development is like exposure to the competitive atmosphere
- 11:41Speaker 4: in the.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Clubhouse and the locker room, on the field, that kind
- 11:44Speaker 2: of stuff. So it's like you find a way to
- 11:46Speaker 2: get it done there.
- 11:47Speaker 4: So it's really hard for me to back up to
- 11:49Speaker 4: your question like assign like players to what level like
- 11:53Speaker 4: in college, this is in pro ball, but like guys
- 11:56Speaker 4: that I'm facing here in double A.
- 11:57Speaker 2: They could easily pitch in the SEC.
- 11:59Speaker 4: But I'm telling I'm telling you, like they if they
- 12:03Speaker 4: through some of the outings that we see, like two walks,
- 12:05Speaker 4: three walks in a row, like you know, a big
- 12:07Speaker 4: inning here there, Like we're getting the pen moving, we're
- 12:09Speaker 4: getting everyone rolling.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So in college, so it's kind of a different atmosphere.
- 12:15Speaker 7: So Cratzy, you could tell that him and I are
- 12:18Speaker 7: two totally different guys because when I played, his mindset
- 12:22Speaker 7: is so much more keener and smarter than mine. You
- 12:25Speaker 7: and I back in the day, we would just see
- 12:27Speaker 7: the ball hit the ball. There's so much process and
- 12:29Speaker 7: so much more that goes on into the game, which Andrew,
- 12:34Speaker 7: I give you credit man, because it's absolutely phenomenal your
- 12:36Speaker 7: thought process and taking a chance. I remember coaches used
- 12:40Speaker 7: to tell me go up there, either don't do no
- 12:43Speaker 7: stride swing, and I'm like, oh my god, but I
- 12:45Speaker 7: don't want to do this, you know, and then your mindset,
- 12:48Speaker 7: you're like, all right, well take a pitch until you
- 12:50Speaker 7: get a striker. You get the pitch you want, and
- 12:52Speaker 7: if you strike out on three pitches you don't get it.
- 12:54Speaker 7: You walk back and the coach like, hey, all right,
- 12:56Speaker 7: Thanks for doing that. Now you can move on. I
- 12:58Speaker 7: would have been so frustrated at the time. Yea doing
- 13:02Speaker 7: all that. But again, it's about development, so you can
- 13:05Speaker 7: understand yourself. So my question to you is, give me
- 13:07Speaker 7: your routine, you know, when you go to the ballpark.
- 13:09Speaker 7: Talk to me about what you do before every game,
- 13:13Speaker 7: you know, so we can have a better understanding how
- 13:15Speaker 7: you developed and your what your process is with hitting.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 4: So I think one of the big things for me
- 13:21Speaker 4: that I got in pro ball versus college is like
- 13:24Speaker 4: they have in college, it's like set times where the
- 13:29Speaker 4: whole team is gonna work out, the whole team's gonna lift.
- 13:31Speaker 4: So in pro ball it was a big transition for
- 13:34Speaker 4: me to like figure out, all right, this is the
- 13:36Speaker 4: day where I'm gonna crush crush it in the weight room,
- 13:38Speaker 4: I'm gonna spend an hour and a half doing my stuff.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna lift.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Heavy, We're squatting, we're deadlifting, we're bench pressing whatever, versus
- 13:47Speaker 4: like now, in pro ball, you're playing six games a
- 13:50Speaker 4: week and you're trying to figure out, all right, how
- 13:52Speaker 4: do I maintain my body and how I feel but
- 13:57Speaker 4: also not have an impact my game on the field.
- 14:01Speaker 4: So for me, like one of the big things in
- 14:03Speaker 4: my routine here is spending like I don't know, maybe
- 14:06Speaker 4: twenty thirty minutes in the training room. I'm I'm extremely
- 14:08Speaker 4: vocal with my trainers like, hey, this.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Is what I feel like I need to do to
- 14:11Speaker 2: get ready.
- 14:12Speaker 4: They're going to give me some exercises to do to
- 14:15Speaker 4: activate those areas. Hot tub is cold tub, like crucial
- 14:20Speaker 4: parts of my routine before I even start the day.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I'm doing contrast almost every single day, trying to make
- 14:26Speaker 4: sure the body's right. One of my big things here
- 14:28Speaker 4: is like I want to play as many days in
- 14:30Speaker 4: a row as possible.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I want to get as many at bats in. I
- 14:33Speaker 2: don't want.
- 14:33Speaker 4: To be sidelined because I didn't properly like treat and
- 14:38Speaker 4: prep my body. So I'm spending so much extra time
- 14:41Speaker 4: in the training room doing that kind of stuff contrast
- 14:44Speaker 4: whatever it is. And then my as far as like
- 14:47Speaker 4: lifting wise, I've come to doing a little bit of
- 14:51Speaker 4: something every day, Like even if it is six days
- 14:54Speaker 4: a week, it's twenty minutes in the way room instead
- 14:56Speaker 4: of you know, three days a week of an hour
- 14:58Speaker 4: and a half, So you're just touching a little bit
- 15:01Speaker 4: of something I'm trying to do full body, you know,
- 15:04Speaker 4: a little bit up, a little bit of lower body.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Some explicit movements. Another thing that we do.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Here great with the Brewers is like they're focused on
- 15:12Speaker 4: like hydration and here you're down here with the Biloxi Mimissippi.
- 15:15Speaker 2: It's superhuman.
- 15:17Speaker 4: So I'm We're testing our players hydration all the time,
- 15:21Speaker 4: like multiple days a week here and it's good.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So I'm crushing water electrolytes.
- 15:26Speaker 4: We have our strength guys that are honest about getting
- 15:29Speaker 4: in like this product is called right stuff or whatever
- 15:32Speaker 4: else that like get you in the the right stuff.
- 15:34Speaker 4: You need to make sure your body's hydrated. And so
- 15:38Speaker 4: that's that's a big part of my routine. I'm learning
- 15:42Speaker 4: that less is actually more in the cage and less
- 15:45Speaker 4: is more out on the field.
- 15:48Speaker 2: You're almost like saving your bullets on the field.
- 15:51Speaker 4: I'm trying to see how many good reps I can
- 15:52Speaker 4: get in the cage at like eighty percent and make
- 15:56Speaker 4: sure I get right before the game. I got like
- 15:58Speaker 4: one or two game reps in and I'm ready to roll.
- 16:01Speaker 4: So we got some early hitting stuff. I'll do my
- 16:03Speaker 4: t routine, my front toss, like weighted balls, whatever that
- 16:06Speaker 4: looks like. And then we have a section of time
- 16:08Speaker 4: where it's like VP with the team and that's more like, hey,
- 16:12Speaker 4: today we're doing angled machine with you know, a breaker
- 16:17Speaker 4: of some sort or something, and you're getting that done
- 16:19Speaker 4: because they have a you know, process that helps your
- 16:22Speaker 4: development here, and you know, as a new guy, I'm
- 16:25Speaker 4: trying to buy in and do everything I can to.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Make sure I check all those boxes.
- 16:29Speaker 4: And then right before the game, we have a eye pitch,
- 16:32Speaker 4: which is like a machine.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It's like it's like an iPad.
- 16:35Speaker 4: You can basically put in the pitcher, and there's like
- 16:38Speaker 4: these like they're not phone balls.
- 16:40Speaker 2: They're called like Marv balls, and they're just like a
- 16:42Speaker 2: little bit softer than a baseball, just so.
- 16:45Speaker 4: You're not like breaking your wood bat and whatnot if
- 16:48Speaker 4: wi you're hitting. But basically they'll put in the starter
- 16:51Speaker 4: and like about twenty minutes thirty minutes before the game,
- 16:53Speaker 4: I get in the cage, get like three or four
- 16:55Speaker 4: at bats, and just like mixed wraps off the machine
- 16:59Speaker 4: and and I try to make it as game like
- 17:01Speaker 4: as possible, like that same sort of tempo with like
- 17:04Speaker 4: the pitch clock at fifteen seconds and getting in the
- 17:06Speaker 4: box at eight and taking deep breasts and even sometimes
- 17:09Speaker 4: here like track man will say it's a ball and
- 17:12Speaker 4: our coach will be like, hey, that's called to strike.
- 17:14Speaker 4: So now you're one. Even though that might have been
- 17:16Speaker 4: a good take, but you got to deal.
- 17:17Speaker 2: With umpires sometimes that are no good.
- 17:19Speaker 4: So you're just trying to get those metal remps in
- 17:21Speaker 4: as well.
- 17:23Speaker 5: Cally, you're twenty two years old. I remember twenty two
- 17:25Speaker 5: years old in the minor leagues. I was like, I
- 17:27Speaker 5: hope I wake up in time to make it to
- 17:29Speaker 5: make it to the game. And you're talking about you're
- 17:31Speaker 5: talking at your routine is ridiculous. All that stuff you
- 17:34Speaker 5: switch from high A to double A. Are the facilities
- 17:38Speaker 5: nicer because people think, oh, hey, moved up. It must
- 17:41Speaker 5: be it must be glitz and glamour. But I see
- 17:43Speaker 5: a lot of cinderblock walls behind you.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm actually I'm in the cage right now. You
- 17:48Speaker 2: can you can see I'm I'm here. We got one
- 17:53Speaker 2: lane here. It's it's enough to get our work in.
- 17:55Speaker 4: So whatever we got to do to get ready, we
- 17:57Speaker 4: make sure that there's set times, like, hey, these guys
- 18:00Speaker 4: said that they want to come in here, all right, cool?
- 18:01Speaker 2: Those three guys are going to come in here at
- 18:03Speaker 2: xt time.
- 18:04Speaker 4: This is a good slot for me to get my
- 18:05Speaker 4: work in at whatever time, so they do a good
- 18:08Speaker 4: job blocking off sections for us. Fortunately, the Timber Ratler
- 18:13Speaker 4: Stadium Hya for us is like just completely renovated, brand new.
- 18:16Speaker 2: On our side.
- 18:17Speaker 4: So the facility over there is about as big as
- 18:19Speaker 4: you guys.
- 18:20Speaker 2: It gets like the locker room, even like the clubb
- 18:22Speaker 2: He takes.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Such great care of the stuff over there, and he
- 18:25Speaker 4: does such a great job taking care of the players
- 18:28Speaker 4: and keeping that thing up to speed. So the brewers
- 18:31Speaker 4: are an amazing job here. So our facility is pretty good,
- 18:36Speaker 4: no complaints. I'm new here, so I'm still searching around
- 18:39Speaker 4: for things.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Only got one game under my belt.
- 18:41Speaker 4: So if you ask me like how the field plays
- 18:43Speaker 4: over there at third base or or wherever, like, I
- 18:46Speaker 4: wouldn't be able to give you like a true answer
- 18:48Speaker 4: right now. But the grounds crews are are extremely passionate.
- 18:52Speaker 4: It's the same guys here every day, so they put
- 18:56Speaker 4: a lot of time in and work to get these
- 18:58Speaker 4: fields ready for us.
- 19:00Speaker 5: And you hit a dinger in your first game, so
- 19:01Speaker 5: humble brag, but you're not bragging. I saw it in
- 19:04Speaker 5: the stat sheet. But there's a few Brewers teammates in
- 19:09Speaker 5: the minor leagues here or organizational Brewers players that have
- 19:13Speaker 5: gotten locked up. Are you like looking at your phone,
- 19:16Speaker 5: like when is when are Matt Arnold gonna call me?
- 19:20Speaker 5: Is that discussions that has already happened? Are you open
- 19:23Speaker 5: to that? How? What does that talk like with the
- 19:26Speaker 5: other minor leaguers that you're around.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's it's interesting you brought that up, Like,
- 19:32Speaker 4: I've never been around so many guys in the same clubhouse.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Even though, like I said, like I played on teams
- 19:39Speaker 4: Tennessee Ole, Miss Duke, great players, great prospects, players that
- 19:43Speaker 4: are being successful right now in the big leagues.
- 19:46Speaker 2: We're on those teams. I've never been around a clubhouse
- 19:49Speaker 2: at each level.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Not just like oh that was just in uh, you know, Wisconsin,
- 19:53Speaker 4: at the high A team.
- 19:55Speaker 2: The talent in these clubhouses is unmatched. It's unreal.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Every every guy we have here, it's I could go
- 20:01Speaker 4: on and on and on if you ask me about
- 20:03Speaker 4: each individual guy. I mean, we have the number one
- 20:06Speaker 4: prospect in baseball, Hazou's made hitting in our cage, and
- 20:09Speaker 4: you wouldn't even know he's our number one guy, because
- 20:13Speaker 4: we have seventeen other guys that are getting in the
- 20:17Speaker 4: same work as him. If you watch them all play,
- 20:19Speaker 4: you'd be, like, guys, a hell of a ballplayer. So, like,
- 20:21Speaker 4: the talent in here is unreal. I think that's why
- 20:24Speaker 4: the Brewers does such a good job of developing their guys,
- 20:26Speaker 4: is they put you in environments where you're literally competing
- 20:30Speaker 4: every day with the best of the best, but getting
- 20:32Speaker 4: a chance to take batting practice with six other guys
- 20:35Speaker 4: that are highly touted players every day. For me, he's
- 20:38Speaker 4: gonna make my batting practice Sharper, it's gonna make my
- 20:40Speaker 4: in game rep Sharper, it's gonna make our communication on
- 20:43Speaker 4: the field, Sharper. It's It's honestly really special what they
- 20:47Speaker 4: have over here. So I'm grateful for the opportunity that
- 20:50Speaker 4: they've given me.
- 20:50Speaker 2: To play with these guys.
- 20:51Speaker 4: And even at like the big league level, you're looking
- 20:54Speaker 4: at a guy like Cooper Pratt, he's up there. He
- 20:56Speaker 4: was just in the minor leagues this past season. He
- 20:57Speaker 4: like you said, he just signed a big deal and
- 21:00Speaker 4: and he's up in the big leagues killing it right now, helping.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Those guys out. And like we got Laura. He just
- 21:04Speaker 2: signed another deal.
- 21:05Speaker 4: A great kid, locker room guy that you're like, Man,
- 21:08Speaker 4: I'd love to be around him, and he's just a competitor.
- 21:10Speaker 2: He's going to be up there.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Another kid that I think should get some more love
- 21:14Speaker 4: is Joe Williams. Like he's in tria A right now,
- 21:17Speaker 4: but I can almost guarantee you October rules around, you're
- 21:20Speaker 4: gonna see him walking down in hot Corner for the
- 21:21Speaker 4: Brewers and making a real impact.
- 21:24Speaker 2: These are guys editor there.
- 21:27Speaker 4: There's twenty five thirty other guys I can name right
- 21:30Speaker 4: now that I'm like, Yeah, he's going to help this
- 21:31Speaker 4: team out in the future. Like, sure, only nine guys
- 21:34Speaker 4: can play, but this team's going to be special going forward.
- 21:38Speaker 1: With over thirty five million downloads, seakeeek is the number
- 21:41Speaker 1: one rated.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Ticketing app and krats.
- 21:43Speaker 1: There are many many baseball games on the inventory to
- 21:48Speaker 1: check out all summer long. This is the season now,
- 21:50Speaker 1: it is baseball baseball season. Not many other options for
- 21:53Speaker 1: you sports wise. I know you can go anywhere you
- 21:55Speaker 1: want to go with seakeek. There's so many tickets to
- 21:58Speaker 1: choose from, but Baseball center stage now for the next
- 22:00Speaker 1: couple months.
- 22:02Speaker 5: School's out I'm going to watch some baseball games, some
- 22:05Speaker 5: big league games, all in my area, and I want
- 22:07Speaker 5: to know exactly what it looks like. And I also
- 22:09Speaker 5: want the best deal, so I'm looking for the green,
- 22:12Speaker 5: not the red.
- 22:13Speaker 3: That's right.
- 22:13Speaker 1: The green hooks you up with the best deals on
- 22:16Speaker 1: the app. Of course, we have the code. It's Territory

- 22:28Speaker 1: click the link in the description of this episode that'll
- 22:31Speaker 1: download the app if you don't have it already, and
- 22:33Speaker 1: you'll have the code automatically added to your account so
- 22:36Speaker 1: that you can use that code later.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Thank you, See Geek, I got a two parter here.
- 22:40Speaker 7: This is a quick one. Have you faced Jacob Mezarowski yet?
- 22:44Speaker 7: I haven't, but the guys here that have say it's special. Dude.
- 22:50Speaker 7: I shook his hand in the All Star Game last year.
- 22:52Speaker 7: I'm telling you his fingers went up to my elbow.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Whatever. He's a talent above everything.
- 23:00Speaker 7: Your swing. I love everything about it. I got to
- 23:03Speaker 7: get you in my lab. We got to work out
- 23:04Speaker 7: in the off season. Man you, and I want to
- 23:06Speaker 7: see everything you do and uh, we'll get that going.
- 23:09Speaker 7: But who do you model it after? Is there somebody
- 23:13Speaker 7: you model it after? Is this something that you know
- 23:15Speaker 7: came about out of high school as you kept moving forward.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I think watching Bryce Harper hit has been uh my
- 23:25Speaker 4: go to. There's so many other players that I watch. Uh,
- 23:28Speaker 4: It's it's more about like each part of the swing.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Like there's you know, your lower half, there's your your
- 23:34Speaker 4: back foot, your front foot, your back knee, your front knee,
- 23:36Speaker 4: your your hips. Here, there's so many different parts that
- 23:39Speaker 4: are going into that are trying to generate power and
- 23:43Speaker 4: and obviously accuracy when you're moving the barrel. So just
- 23:46Speaker 4: taking a little bit from each guy. It's it's something
- 23:49Speaker 4: I've tried to work on and and I think now
- 23:52Speaker 4: one of my like new things, new tasks I've tried
- 23:55Speaker 4: this past season is like talking about like approach with
- 23:58Speaker 4: these players, because some sometimes you look at a swing
- 24:02Speaker 4: and you're like, wow, Wan Soda, swing's great, but you
- 24:04Speaker 4: don't realize like how many clubs he has in his bag,
- 24:07Speaker 4: Like he knows all right, Hey today I'm not seeing
- 24:10Speaker 4: the ball.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Great.
- 24:10Speaker 4: He just beat me with two breakers away so this
- 24:12Speaker 4: is what I need to do. This is my tool
- 24:14Speaker 4: I have in my bag to fix that. You can't
- 24:17Speaker 4: just go up there and be like, oh, I don't
- 24:19Speaker 4: got it today and I'm not seeing it well and
- 24:21Speaker 4: the wind's blowing in my face and it's foreign rain now,
- 24:24Speaker 4: or you know, hey, I'm only at eighty percent today,
- 24:27Speaker 4: but I'm in the lineup and this is my tool
- 24:30Speaker 4: that I'm going to use to help me get by.
- 24:31Speaker 2: For the day and still be successful. So that's one
- 24:34Speaker 2: thing I'm talking about.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Like if josh adam Cheski you talk to him, he's
- 24:37Speaker 4: he's a prospect within our arg like gonna be a
- 24:40Speaker 4: hell of a ball player, and him and I talk,
- 24:42Speaker 4: It's like there's so many different tools in the bag.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Like you got your two zero three zero swing, and
- 24:45Speaker 4: you got your regular approach whatever that looks like. But
- 24:48Speaker 4: what do you do when you deal with a guy
- 24:50Speaker 4: like Jacob Mizerrowski who's throwing one hundred and three and
- 24:52Speaker 4: he's got seven foot eight extension and he gets in
- 24:55Speaker 4: there and he spins you three breaking balls and you
- 24:57Speaker 4: haven't even seen the fastball yet and you got two strikes, Like,
- 25:00Speaker 4: what is your tool that you you're gonna use so
- 25:02Speaker 4: that doesn't beat you when that happens, because like I
- 25:05Speaker 4: don't know for the kids listening or watching this, like
- 25:08Speaker 4: it does happen, you're gonna get in there and you're
- 25:11Speaker 4: not gonna feel your all your prep's gonna feel great,
- 25:14Speaker 4: and then you're gonna get in there and be like, oh,
- 25:15Speaker 4: what's going on? And so for for me, it's like,
- 25:19Speaker 4: how can I make my tools and my approach like
- 25:24Speaker 4: so wide that there's nothing that I haven't faced yet,
- 25:28Speaker 4: or when I do face that that doesn't surprise me,
- 25:30Speaker 4: or I know how to make those adjustments. So our
- 25:33Speaker 4: guys here, like one of the new things I picked
- 25:35Speaker 4: up is they move around a lot in the box,
- 25:36Speaker 4: like making box adjustments. Pitch to pitch. Hey, this fastball,
- 25:42Speaker 4: it's sinking on me a little bit. So I'm gonna
- 25:44Speaker 4: try to see it up and I'm gonna move up.
- 25:46Speaker 2: In the box.
- 25:47Speaker 4: But I gotta be aware that my time's gonna have
- 25:49Speaker 4: to be different because I'm making a six inch box adjustment.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Or this guy's throwing me away, away away.
- 25:56Speaker 4: I know he's got a clutter that he uses, but
- 25:58Speaker 4: he's not throwing it against me. I'm gonna slide up
- 26:01Speaker 4: on the box towards the plate, try and look out
- 26:04Speaker 4: over but when he throws me in, I gotta know
- 26:06Speaker 4: it's gonna do X, Y and Z. And this is
- 26:07Speaker 4: my tool to get to that pitch. Like how do
- 26:09Speaker 4: I move my body differently? And what's my approach? How
- 26:12Speaker 4: does that change? How does it vary? So it's like
- 26:14Speaker 4: some of the steff we work on here, which is.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Cool, all right, how do you how do you handle
- 26:19Speaker 5: the your k rate compared to power? How do you
- 26:23Speaker 5: handle that like approach of you strike out a lot,
- 26:27Speaker 5: but you also hit for a lot of power.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's something that like.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I like I was saying earlier, like people don't realize
- 26:35Speaker 4: in the minor leagues, this is not a finished product.
- 26:39Speaker 4: This is the brewers trying to tell me to try
- 26:42Speaker 4: stuff out, or the brewers, hey, let's do this.
- 26:45Speaker 2: So I mean, I could probably count on two hands.
- 26:48Speaker 4: The amount of strikeouts I've had that I come back
- 26:50Speaker 4: in and they're like, hey, man.
- 26:52Speaker 2: You took the right pitches, you swung at the right pitches.
- 26:55Speaker 2: You look, you stuck to the approach. Like that's a
- 26:56Speaker 2: good at bat. We're good with that.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Where there's also been times they're like, hey, I hit
- 27:02Speaker 4: a homer on a pitch that's up and out of
- 27:03Speaker 4: the zone, and like they're not going to tell me
- 27:06Speaker 4: that's a bad at ap, but that might have been
- 27:07Speaker 4: outside my approach. So like for them, like they're not
- 27:10Speaker 4: really worried about the results now, So I'm looking at like,
- 27:14Speaker 4: all right, hey, this guy has X amount of homers,
- 27:16Speaker 4: but he's striking out a tonight. I don't know that
- 27:18Speaker 4: I've looked at my strikeout percentage once other than like
- 27:21Speaker 4: you know, a family friend or someone texting me like hey,
- 27:24Speaker 4: let's you know, let's cut out the punch.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Outs, you know, cause they're trying to like they care
- 27:28Speaker 2: and whatever. So but like for me, it's like, all right, cool, Well,
- 27:33Speaker 2: what's the big deal.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Twitter's not ranking me on their top one hundred because
- 27:38Speaker 4: they think I shrig got too much or the swing
- 27:40Speaker 4: and miss.
- 27:40Speaker 2: It's like, all right, big deal. Like I'm not really
- 27:42Speaker 2: worried about that. I'm worried about today where my feet.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Are here and now, like if we're if we're in
- 27:47Speaker 4: the SEC right now or ACC where these guys are
- 27:51Speaker 4: win or lose this game, we're going to host a
- 27:53Speaker 4: regional or host a Super regional or not make the
- 27:55Speaker 4: postseason or whatever that looks like.
- 27:58Speaker 2: You know, those those approaches change.
- 28:00Speaker 4: These coaches will tell you here if you ask them,
- 28:01Speaker 4: they're on this call like they care about winning, yes,
- 28:04Speaker 4: but in the minor leagues they care about the development
- 28:06Speaker 4: of players. So for me, like, all right, I might
- 28:09Speaker 4: be swinging and missing that pitches at you know, the
- 28:11Speaker 4: top of the.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Zone or whatever that looks like.
- 28:13Speaker 4: But maybe they're telling me, hey, we want you to
- 28:16Speaker 4: try to hit those pitches at the top of the
- 28:17Speaker 4: zone because we want to know when it's game on
- 28:19Speaker 4: in October and you get a chance in the big leagues,
- 28:22Speaker 4: you know, you know where the line is that like, hey,
- 28:24Speaker 4: if I swing at this pitch, I can get to that.
- 28:26Speaker 4: If I swing at this pitch, I can't get to that.
- 28:29Speaker 2: So I need to know.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Before two strikes or with two strikes, when when the
- 28:33Speaker 4: chips are on the table, what can you get to?
- 28:35Speaker 2: What can't you get to?
- 28:36Speaker 4: And you there is no like hidden hole that you
- 28:39Speaker 4: don't know about by the time you get there. So
- 28:41Speaker 4: a long roundabout a way saying I'm not too worried
- 28:45Speaker 4: about like my strike out rate or anything like that.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Like the zones here aren't great, like sixty percent of
- 28:50Speaker 4: the looking case here, I'm going to challenge it and
- 28:51Speaker 4: it's going to get overturned anyways. It's these are minor
- 28:54Speaker 4: leagu umpires are young kids. They're working as well, so
- 28:56Speaker 4: they're trying to prove themselves. And I totally understand. There's
- 29:00Speaker 4: no abs down here, so there's long games, long days
- 29:03Speaker 4: here at the ballpark.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Like they can't always do that.
- 29:07Speaker 4: So I think eventually you move up in the levels,
- 29:10Speaker 4: umpires get better. The approach changes from like development to
- 29:15Speaker 4: like compete to win, and I think the numbers change.
- 29:20Speaker 7: Stud Bro, and that stems from your mom and dad, Brian,
- 29:24Speaker 7: you know your dad. Man, we're laughing, we're looking for
- 29:28Speaker 7: your card. You know, when the cards came out, he's
- 29:31Speaker 7: texting me all the cards he's got you. And then Scotty,
