[SPEAKER_01]: Hello!
0:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the M&QV NFL podcast.
0:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Connor Moore, that's Albuquerque looking like a man.
0:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And no longer has a sweet at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis.
0:16
[SPEAKER_01]: He's back home.
0:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for calling me Alamada.
0:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate it last week.
0:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll just say we'll see this like the concierge lunch there is is really good and I was in the same floor Is it I'm not saying good like they do a great job with the food there and everything else, but it's good from a not working perspective too So I see I see you just want into people you know what I mean the same thing is like the
0:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the, the concierge lounge at the, the battlehouse in Mobile, you know, it's just, you just randomly writing to people there.
0:48
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's good.
0:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So I have a few, so for those of you don't know, the, the scouting combine in Indianapolis for, for people who report on stuff is far less about watching people and tights jumping up and down, although some people get excited about that.
1:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say even as late as like 2010, 2011, 2012, you would go to one of three bars and you would run into everybody and you'd be able to have something of a reasonable conversation with agents, scouts, executives.
1:26
[SPEAKER_01]: But the problem is, the NFL is still well covered now that everybody found out about the bars and everybody's out with the same thing.
1:31
[SPEAKER_00]: The problem is, the problem is,
1:34
[SPEAKER_00]: that freaking idiots decide to publicize everything.
1:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yes.
1:38
[SPEAKER_00]: And one person who wrong person finds out about one of these places.
1:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And then all of a sudden, it's all over Twitter.
1:44
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all over TV.
1:46
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all over radio.
1:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And I get asked legitimately.
1:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, I can say it here because the cat's been out of the bag for a decade on this, but Prime 47, which used to be most, I mean, I was going there in 2009, you know, and like, it was great then because there's very limited media in there, not that I don't like my media friends, but very limited media in there and the the team people that were in there felt comfortable, that nothing that was said in there was going to
2:17
[SPEAKER_00]: turn around and wind up on social media five minutes later.
2:20
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and then, and now it's at the point where people on the radio asked me, did you go to prime 40, how do you know about that?
2:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know what, you didn't even you've been doing that for us.
2:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So, but that's the problem, is that like these things are better.
2:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, because everybody feels like they have to come out of there with content, right?
2:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're not capable of getting football content out there, the, out of there, the maybe you feel like you've got to write about the scene, which is how everybody starts to feel like the caged animal there.
2:52
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
2:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they're like, they're like, they're zoo animals.
2:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And everybody is, is watching them, you know?
2:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And as probably a result of everybody having like a video camera in their pocket.
3:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, no, all that too, you know?
3:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely different than it was and you have to be a little bit more intentional and I don't know, I mean, like I always think I always put it this way like I I
3:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I would never go public with anything I hear at two in the morning without like triple checking it when everybody's sober, you know, so, but if that happens, it does ruin it.
3:31
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
3:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It does.
3:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I have glad you brought that up because I have a really funny story on that.
3:37
[SPEAKER_01]: on that vein, but just to close the loop on this, I'm surprised that you went live with JW Marriott Concierge is a secret meetup.
3:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I have three or four.
3:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Or you need to have certain status to get in there.
3:51
[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like less worried.
3:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm less worried about that one.
3:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm okay there.
3:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what do you, what do you got to be like?
3:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's like me and me and Paul Scouts are the only people who have the level of access to get into the, do you have to be titanium?
4:07
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to be titanium?
4:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I...
4:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm lifetime platinum.
4:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I can get in there.
4:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, no, no, you're like, like our lifetime platinum.
4:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm both, but are, are they not the same thing?
4:18
[SPEAKER_00]: They are, right?
4:19
[SPEAKER_01]: There's titanium's above platinum.
4:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm lifetime platinum, but I need a couple more nights to get lifetime times.
4:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you, you were the one who taught me how to look up how many hotel nights I have, like lifetime hotel.
4:30
[SPEAKER_01]: We did that on the show, which was a very sad moment for you when you were the one who did that.
4:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I, I blame you.
4:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was.
4:37
[SPEAKER_00]: So I did because of because now I know how to do that.
4:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I did figure out that I hit another milestone During the Weekend Indianapolis.
4:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I spent my 2400th night in a Marriott which is
4:52
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, what is that?
4:55
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like three years, wait.
4:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
5:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the numbers probably like marginally higher than that.
5:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I'm on top of a brear, we're putting me in Mary.
5:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a lot when I was a kid, but you can add wherever those were onto that also.
5:36
[SPEAKER_01]: But my funny story about Prime and like you said, checking.
5:40
[SPEAKER_01]: checking to make sure that someone is sober enough to report something so once an agent tip me off he said you know we're not going to resign with this team and the agent had a few pops right and he's like you could print this tell them to go you know for let a word themselves they're lowballing my client we're not resigning with them we're going to free agency okay
6:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And so this is it like whatever it was print that yeah print that right and so you're like, okay, so this is like at 12 30 Well, you know, but he's really actually printing anything anymore, but this is one o'clock in the morning and so I'm like, okay, all right, whatever.
6:21
[SPEAKER_01]: So I go back to my hotel.
6:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I go to bed.
6:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I wake up at like 6 30 because I want to get on the
6:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I get up around six because I like to catch the coaches when they're up at Starbucks getting their morning coffee a more of a morning person and I called the agent back and I said, hey, and he picked up and I was like, hey, I just wanted to, you know, double check what we talked about last night and then I hear noise in the background and I said, where are you?
6:50
[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, I'm still here.
6:53
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like 30 in the morning and he's like someone's making eggs
6:59
[SPEAKER_00]: That was the glory days like that was when they brought down that they had the blackout curtains and that's like people couldn't see in like yeah that that is um I was I was probably there that was uh
7:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that is not what it's like anymore.
7:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And I love the people who work there and everything else, but I did get ruined by that.
7:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna do DJ in there this year, which was weird.
7:25
[SPEAKER_00]: The Bobblamont table is now, like a DJ booth, which was a little jarring to be on this with you.
7:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'd say most of the NFL sort of moved on.
7:36
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about what you actually learned from Albert, and it's, you know, because it's not just, you know, not just a hangout session where we're putting, we're putting pen to paper and in boots to the ground.
7:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I very grateful for S.I.
7:52
[SPEAKER_01]: for giving me the combine off the seat.
7:54
[SPEAKER_01]: It was my daughter's first birthday.
7:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I got to watch her eat a whole cupcake in one sitting.
7:59
[SPEAKER_01]: That was wild.
8:00
[SPEAKER_01]: She was waiting for it.
8:01
[SPEAKER_00]: We made a big milestone for you guys to getting past a year because I know it could does get easier It's not easy, but it cuz he's here.
8:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, it's the third two so it's like we're just we're battle tested at this point But the two things that we were going to talk about last week And I just felt like we didn't have enough time to address them because this is an ever evolving situation
8:22
[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like the two big names that anyone really cared about at the combine in terms of guys who are on contracts, major NFL stars, that could still move our max cross being AJ Brown.
8:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And let's start with AJ Brown because I thought that the commentary from the Eagles was interesting and I always view it this way out, but there's tears where
8:43
[SPEAKER_01]: your Nick Casario, and you come out and say that it's moronic to consider a trade.
8:48
[SPEAKER_01]: But what you really mean, probably, is like if you blow us away, uh, I'm picking up the phone.
8:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have the tier below that, which is all options around the table, which means this guy's gone.
9:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
9:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And Nick, Nick Seriani, it said that all options around the table with AJ Brown,
9:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Knowing AJ Brown the way that Nick does, knowing that AJ is a cerebral character, and also very sensitive one, I don't think you do that unless you're pretty sure that he's going to be playing somewhere else next year.
9:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there are some definitely some moving parts on this one for sure.
9:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I think AJ Brown's camp is a party to this too, and I look like I think,
9:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you'd be naive, not to think that they've checked out their options, you know.
9:38
[SPEAKER_00]: And that they have an idea of what the landscape might look like, what teams might be realistic landing spots for them.
9:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And then that's something you want to weigh, you know, if your AJ Brown as well, the contractor's tradable.
9:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think a lot of people miss this part of this, because they get a few gets so hung up on the dead cap.
9:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, implications and the reality is the Eagles, entire, all, the Eagles books are like bad cap implications, you know what I mean, like the entire, the entire payrolls, a bad cap implications.
10:10
[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, they're dealing with, they're going to deal with that with a lot of players.
10:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's accredited by the way to, to Jeffrey Loury, um, you know, for building as aggressively as they have because they've spent cash over cap a lot.
10:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, it's how he's not doing this without
10:24
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, how he's not doing this mindlessly like they feel like they're in a window they're competing for championships and eventually the bill is going to come doing all of that.
10:33
[SPEAKER_00]: But the contract itself, $29 million this year, $21 million next year, that's really the extent of the guarantee money left.
10:43
[SPEAKER_00]: So you be talking about trading for a $2 or $50 million deal for a player who's going to be $29.
10:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I believe when the season starts,
10:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and so, you know, I think that's just still at that, um, I think the Eagles are playing footsies with teams right now on this, you know, like, and I don't think that I don't think anything is graduated to to the most serious level, but that could happen fast, and that could happen this week, you know, because, um, you know, and I know, and I don't want anybody to aggregate that.
11:14
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, Brear says a deal could happen this week.
11:17
[SPEAKER_00]: These things sort of have to start to happen this week because once we get to next Monday, we're talking about like, all right, now your cap budget is starting to be spent, your cash budget is starting to be spent, your India draft prep, what do you do with your draft prep picks, roster holes or starting to be filled?
11:36
[SPEAKER_00]: So whatever the market is right now,
11:38
[SPEAKER_00]: for AJ Brown, that market is organically going to be smaller in two weeks, right?
11:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Because some teams are going to have filled their holes or spent their money or whatever it is.
11:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, this becomes a really important week.
11:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Now my understanding is that the Eagles are looking for something in the neighborhood of what the Packers cop for Devontae Adams, you know, a couple of years ago.
12:01
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you guys remember that was a first and a second round pick.
12:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I think more teams would look at the value of AJ Brown right now as being closer to what the bills wound up getting for stuff on digs from the Texans, which was a second and a pick swap.
12:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Where is that value?
12:20
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
12:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not, it's like, how do you view AJ Brown, like, how do you view the knee?
12:27
[SPEAKER_00]: What he has left?
12:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Why didn't he have his good year this year?
12:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I know some people might feel like he lost his step.
12:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I talked to some teams in Andy just asking around about that there's who felt like he looked disinterested out there last year at times.
12:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's a lot of sort of sort through for everybody.
12:46
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think teams are going to engage the goes this week and we'll see what happens.
12:52
[SPEAKER_00]: New England Buffalo, like I think some of the usual suspects will at least ask and we'll see what happens.
13:00
[SPEAKER_00]: with the Patriots don't you I mean yeah I just think like so here's the thing like the New England things obviously come up for obvious reasons.
13:06
[SPEAKER_00]: She's got great relationship with my frable I think frable articulated that pretty clearly last week right so I don't would you agree that they're not going to have a j bar on the stuff I'm digs on the team together
13:23
[SPEAKER_00]: That will be tough, right?
13:29
[SPEAKER_01]: That would be tough.
13:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
13:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Because you're talking about obviously two guys who are used to being the number one guy, right?
13:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And steps move past that.
13:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think you shown you can handle it can be more of a complimentary piece.
13:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Also is no choice but to be a good guy for a little while.
13:43
[SPEAKER_00]: So, right, I mean, I might put on top of that.
13:47
[SPEAKER_00]: There's damn the financial implications.
13:48
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's just say for our human sake
13:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm going to give you kind of what the landscape looks like on this, right?
13:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you rather have stuff on digs at $20 million or give up picks for AJ Brown and have Brown at $29 million?
14:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Because remember, this is a good draft for receivers too.
14:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So that pick that you give up to go get AJ Brown could be a receiver.
14:23
[SPEAKER_01]: right.
14:26
[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard for me because everything needs to be so like in this case with New England if you're comfortable with digs and specifically if Drake may as comfortable with digs
14:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Under that exact circumstance, I would be more of an advocate to keep the receiver that you currently have and to supplement via the draft because I just think that like we've seen it so many times and I wish there was some sort of a
14:56
[SPEAKER_01]: statistic that you could pair with it, but every time a team kind of goes for it, air quotes, an imports a new wide receiver with status for a quarterback that's on the rise.
15:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say many times, not all the time, but it messes up the existing dynamic, it complicates things.
15:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Going all the way back to, I mean, my NFL life cycle started with,
15:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Mark Sanchez in the New York Jets, right, going all the way back to Centennial homes and Brayland Edwards and Derek Mason and Plexico Burris, I mean, I was going to say Burris is like kind of the underrated one that kind of snuck in.
15:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to spot like nine touchdowns that you're by the way, but, um, which did he really?
15:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like you didn't say in like age 35 season with the with the jets, like a really good red zone season with the jets, but And you could there are plenty of counter examples of that obviously, I mean, the bills bringing in digs in the first place for Josh Allen, like kind of transformed the Allen's career and gave well that safety net and sort of gave him a ground to stand on right and if you if you trade for brown and then cut digs just digs march off to Buffalo go back to Buffalo
16:10
[SPEAKER_00]: kind of an interesting idea.
16:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Look, I just like, I look at this and
16:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, I think it's a harder question because I think you look at like the makeup of what Mike Frable was able to build there, and Diggs was an important piece of it, and I think Diggs at 20 million is a good, is fine, that's half the top of the market, and it's a lot of money, yes, you know, and it's easy for me to say it's not my money, but I
16:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
16:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just like browns a bigger receiver who's reliant on his physical ability and like those guys typically don't age as well.
16:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
16:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
16:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, and he showed signs of slowing down.
16:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Now again, like I had some teams tell me they thought maybe that was a little bit more.
17:02
[SPEAKER_00]: He was frustrated or disinterested than losing the physical ability.
17:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And who knows, I mean, maybe if he were to go to New England, it was spark something.
17:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I would say this, and the interesting thing about the New England part of this is they're going to have better information than anybody on this, you know, like they're going to have the best information because they're going to have to go check the direct line to the receiver.
17:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And so like if anybody is going to know why AJ Brown,
17:30
[SPEAKER_00]: didn't look quite the same last year.
17:33
[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be my frable.
17:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
17:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And so if I'm another team, I'm almost watching New England's actions on this.
17:39
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
17:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm almost, if I'm another team, that's a great point.
17:43
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm almost like watching how aggressive New England is here.
17:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And if New England doesn't seem like they're making much of a move on AJ Brown, I might back off myself.
17:51
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great point.
17:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember talking to AJ heading into the Super Bowl that they wanted.
17:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Conversely, if they're super aggressive, then it would get my attention the other way, you know, just to add to that for sure.
18:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember AJ talking about
18:07
[SPEAKER_01]: how much variable meant to him during that process in Tennessee, which was stressful for him.
18:13
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that, you know, he had stuff settled with his, you know, with his family, his kids in the right school, like everything in Nashville.
18:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that Mike was a big part of his sharing him that they were gonna keep him comfortable and secure there.
18:27
[SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, whatever kind of Tidewins blew out and AJ had to leave, you know, that was the start of a lot of,
18:36
[SPEAKER_01]: the distrust that he has and continues to have.
18:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I think in in teams and the franchise and everything like that.
18:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think variable being a safe harbor for him, you know, you're you're totally right.
18:49
[SPEAKER_01]: It's that's how you judge the quality and the value of the stock in that is if.
18:54
[SPEAKER_01]: the Patriots trip over.
18:55
[SPEAKER_01]: It's no different Albert than you and I were talking about this two years ago.
18:59
[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that Brian Dable and Kevin O'Connell wanted Drake May made New England even more secure in the fact that they shouldn't trade Drake May, right?
19:07
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's one of those things where if other quality people are trying to get that player,
19:13
[SPEAKER_01]: then that means that that player probably still holds a little bit of value.
19:18
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a little bit of an inside baseball thing, but just why I love Mike Floreo, Pro Football Talks.
19:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So Rick Stroud, who is a legend, covers the Buccaneers for the Tampa Bay Times.
19:28
[SPEAKER_01]: He wrote about Max Crosby and the Buccaneers today.
19:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Floreo aggregated it at Pro Football Talk and called it
19:36
[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm going to loosely quote this, a habitual act of reporter flag planting just in case it happens so that they can say that they're ahead of the curve.
19:48
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love Mike, but I also hate him for pointing that out because flag planting is one of my favorite things.
19:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And now inform flag planting, right?
19:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't just flag plant and I'm certainly I don't think Rick is just flag
20:04
[SPEAKER_01]: He was the one who first reported that Brady was going there, right?
20:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I certainly don't think that he's just, you know, flag planting.
20:10
[SPEAKER_01]: But there is something about, you know, it's excellent.
20:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
20:14
[SPEAKER_01]: So when you know something, and it's just not quite there yet, and you can write that little column to be like, what do you think about Max Cross being Tampa?
20:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Not all of a sudden, a couple weeks later, it picks up, and it's no balls, and you can point to it and say, it happened for your first buddy.
20:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine there's a couple of those scenarios where if Max Crosby is truly on the move Albert, his market will be robust.
20:41
[SPEAKER_01]: He's everything you want in a player.
20:43
[SPEAKER_01]: He's tireless.
20:44
[SPEAKER_01]: He is team first.
20:46
[SPEAKER_01]: He is maniacally driven.
20:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's going to age well.
20:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know, what do you thoughts on the Crosby?
20:53
[SPEAKER_00]: There's just like a, like I think.
20:56
[SPEAKER_00]: So this again, like I think this is going to boil down to the relationships involved and like I do think like the Raiders have done I would say a good job of managing some of the fall out the guys who are in the building every day so like I think
21:14
[SPEAKER_00]: John's bi-tech, their general manager, has got a good level of communication with Macs.
21:20
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think Clint Kubiak has done a good job starting to build a relationship.
21:24
[SPEAKER_00]: They promote Rob Leonard to defensive coordinator who Macs is very close with.
21:30
[SPEAKER_00]: So there are some of the pieces in place for reconciliation here, but there's still
21:34
[SPEAKER_00]: history and everything that happened over the course of the fall, which was in October.
21:38
[SPEAKER_00]: He gets hurt, plays injured for basically the remainder of the year.
21:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody knows he's going to have to have surgery after the season.
21:46
[SPEAKER_00]: They shot him now at two games ago.
21:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It like his thought is or it was animated to him that maybe this has to do with them going after the first overall pick.
21:56
[SPEAKER_00]: create roster management.
21:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I think what we would call that.
22:00
[SPEAKER_00]: He has guessed about it.
22:01
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, like, you know, I think that.
22:07
[SPEAKER_00]: action at the end, you know, that communication issue at the end, between, between Max and the organization was there and it created a scenario where Max, who's so loyal to the writers and so loyal to Mark Davis, started to have a wandering eye and started to look around and started to say, what is this going to look like in other places and started to investigate what might be out there for him.
22:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think like the question for everybody now, right?
22:37
[SPEAKER_00]: The question for everybody now is, do our timelines match up?
22:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Because in other words, it would be 29 when the season starts.
22:44
[SPEAKER_00]: The Raiders are going to draft a quarterback first overall.
22:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Presumably, they're going to draft quarterback first overall, Fernando Mendoza, the roster is not there yet.
22:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I think everybody there will acknowledge that, right?
22:56
[SPEAKER_00]: They're probably not going to be a real contender in 2026.
23:03
[SPEAKER_00]: But let's say the quarterback is a good rookie year.
23:06
[SPEAKER_00]: You build, you have a good draft outside of just Fernando Mendoza.
23:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you've got a foundation.
23:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you've got aggressive in 27.
23:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Now maybe you get up to the point where you're, what Jacksonville was this year, right?
23:18
[SPEAKER_00]: In 2027.
23:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And now, okay, now, Mendoza going into year three into 28.
23:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're ready to compete.
23:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And now we're going to get aggressive.
23:29
[SPEAKER_00]: How much does max cross be I've left at that point?
23:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it worth the risk for max cross be to wait that long?
23:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And on the flip side are the raiders better off with cross be or the players that would come as part of a deal which obviously would be loaded with picks right in return.
23:46
[SPEAKER_00]: So now those guys who are on the roster in 28, maybe those guys are 24 years old rather than 31.
23:53
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, that's where the timeline question, I think that's where you have to take a real look at this from a timeline perspective and they love Max, you know, and I think everybody, everybody has a really good understanding of who Max is and and what Max is capable of, but like that part of it, I think is really is really interesting and, you know, I, I think this is another one that's going to heat up over the course the next few days in a may sort of depend on on what teams are willing to give up to get them.
24:22
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's interesting about Crosby's market too, and I talked a lot to the Seattle coaching staff about this during the Super Bowl.
24:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Was that I wonder if we are seeing the death of or the aging out of your star-edge Russia?
24:39
[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason that I say that is because a lot of the guys on Seattle's defensive coaching staff said, the reason that we're so good is that
24:48
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know where the rush is coming from and really who is the beneficiary of what we're trying to do, whereas if you have miles Garrett.
24:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's the same premises as StarCore, right?
25:01
[SPEAKER_00]: You can throw away from them.
25:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
25:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's one of those things where it's like, yes, there is a predictability to that.
25:08
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you've miles geared, it's like you're on the tour to France, and everybody else on the team is basically working to get that guy, the yellow jacket, right, of the yellow.
25:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and he's lying to Armstrong.
25:20
[SPEAKER_01]: He's lying to Armstrong, yeah.
25:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Minus the steroids presumably, right?
25:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, I don't want to make any judgments on that.
25:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Although did you see them on the cover of SI looks good, Miles Garrett's wall.
25:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure.
25:31
[SPEAKER_01]: We just want to turn that leather jacket, not accusing them of doing steroids at all, just to be clear.
25:36
[SPEAKER_01]: But the interesting thing here is, and you can say that it's money ball, or that it's finding the efficiency or whatever it is, and I hate a lot of those platitudes, but it really is smart that, you know, I can have one guy that costs as much as Miles Garrett.
25:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Or I can have five guys that I know don't give a shit that each of them are going to have seven and a half sacks instead of one guy having 20 right and that they're going to play together and like Seattle.
26:05
[SPEAKER_01]: What was interesting is it was almost the reverse of the leg in a boom like if he talked to Richard Sherman or Cam chance or any of those guys, the secondary decoded Peyton Manning and they had him dead to rights from snap one in that Super Bowl, that was the defensive line in this, they decoded the Patriots offence of line and you know and dirty and and Mike McDonald and everything like no disrespect to them, but a lot of the coaches on that staff said like we gave them a number of calls in that game.
26:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And they self-diagnosed a lot of that stuff like they were like, okay, this is what the offensive lines giving us so we're going to run a or be that was yeah, that's that that's that scheme to not to revisit the Super Bowl But that is like I remember talking you know, I talked to Weddle about this who Weddle was sort of one of the godfather Jericho, I don't who played safety for the Ravens under Wake Martin Dale when they created this defense
26:59
[SPEAKER_00]: all the way back in 2000 and more of an 18, right?
27:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And he was saying exactly what you're saying, which is like, you'd have four guys up at the line.
27:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And one's dropping and the other one is in the other one's coming.
27:15
[SPEAKER_00]: And what I was telling me, like what Wink did was he said this game in a way where he legitimately could look over to CJ, mostly and say swap.
27:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And now all of a sudden the guy who's rushing is dropping and the guy who's dropping is rushing, you know, right.
27:31
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's kind of what you're getting at and what I mean by all that is that is that more our team seeing that right around the time that Max Crosby is coming on the market.
27:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And now you have, and I asked the Seattle coaching staff, I was like, what percentage of the NFL is doing?
27:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think something closer to what you guys are doing versus, and it's still low.
27:54
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like 5% 10% of the NFL.
27:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Not a lot of teams are doing it.
27:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle's doing, but do more teams try to do that Albert, and does that water down Max Crosby's market?
28:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, I think about what you're talking about is that it's hard to sustain.
28:11
[SPEAKER_00]: because you're talking about holding on to multiple players, multiple players, and like so you have to kind of and Seattle hit a sweet spot in that they drafted Byron Murphy there was I like I could tell you John Schneider was stunned that Byron Murphy was available when he was available on two years ago, you know, like in the draft like he thought there was no way they was getting to him.
28:33
[SPEAKER_00]: like the proverbial run the card up to the commissioner, you know, it was one of those scenarios.
28:39
[SPEAKER_00]: So like you get by our in Murphy, and then by our in Murphy hits his stride, while Leonard Williams still has something left in the tank.
28:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And the cowboys cut to Marcus Lawrence, and you have that in dirty hand staff, who writes with them in Dallas, you know?
28:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And so like all these things happen, and it doesn't take nothing away from the seahawks.
29:01
[SPEAKER_00]: But like that's also hard to sustain, you know, versus just having one great player and you just pay them.
29:09
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the that's sort of the hard thing.
29:11
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like with the Browns, would you move off of Miles Garrett?
29:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, you wouldn't, you know what I mean?
29:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the idea of having
29:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's different if you're talking about bringing that guy in, you know, and that's a fair discussion to have.
29:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like what you're talking about is, you know, it's like why or example, some teams have started to evaluate receivers over corners.
29:36
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's hard to find a great corner.
29:37
[SPEAKER_00]: The problem with having a great corner is the other team can just throw away from them.
29:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas the receiver, you can do more to get them free.
29:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the sort of
29:47
[SPEAKER_00]: That dynamic gives teams to doing more to take one or two great defensive players out of the game completely and having success doing it.
29:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly changes the philosophy for some teams in how they're building.
30:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
30:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
30:04
[SPEAKER_01]: What does your gut tell you about Max right now?
30:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think you and I can both sit here and say that it makes more sense to get rid of them and the rebuilding timeline for the Raiders.
30:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it all, like everything seems to line up, but what would you say come, June, how likely is it that you think Max Crosby is still a Raider?
30:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I don't think that they're going to be back and do a corner to do it.
30:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think he probably gets traded this week.
30:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Early.
30:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
30:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, but like again, like there's so many moving parts here and, you know, I just look at it like I think I look, I'm not, I'm not.
31:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking for Max here.
31:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to make sure I'm clear about that.
31:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would just say, like if I'm looking at if I'm Max cross being this scenario,
31:11
[SPEAKER_00]: what going through what I went through the last couple of months does is it causes me to look at my Ford football mortality.
31:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And I talked about timelines, right?
31:19
[SPEAKER_00]: He goes through the knee injury.
31:21
[SPEAKER_00]: He asks to have surgery, right?
31:23
[SPEAKER_00]: So the second straight year he's finishing the season injured just is what it is.
31:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's daddy's turning 29.
31:29
[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be his eight season coming up.
31:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Believe it or not.
31:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I think, and now, like psychologically, the door to being traded has opened.
31:43
[SPEAKER_00]: So now, again, that wandering eye, he's looking around what could this team do for me?
31:49
[SPEAKER_00]: What could that team do for me?
31:51
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think, for him, it's kind of one of those,
31:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Either this is going to happen for me now, or I got a really buckle in and roll the dice that the Raiders are going to be able to get this turned around.
32:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And how many coaches has he been through and with the Raiders, John Rich Pissachi and interim coaches.
32:13
[SPEAKER_00]: The only one he made the playoffs with Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce, Pete Carroll, and now Clint Kubiak, I just
32:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
32:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think like for him the time is right now.
32:24
[SPEAKER_00]: The question I think some become what can the Raiders extract for him?
32:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
32:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's going to have like to me like I don't want to speak for anybody there again, but to me it would have to be a one and then something like so it'd be a for it.
32:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I would have to come away with a first round pick and something else.
32:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Who makes the most sense for him?
32:44
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was thinking about, right?
32:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And I do, I Google my favorite thing, which is NFL standings.
32:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've Googled it 4241,000 times over the last two years.
32:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's, that's why the schedule, that honestly I'm pulling up some of my notes here.
32:57
[SPEAKER_00]: But that, that's why the, that's why the,
33:01
[SPEAKER_00]: like schedules do such great traffic on everybody's website because people are always going in.
33:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean you would say someone like the chargers of the chiefs, but obviously they're not going to trade them within the division.
33:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd give you a few teams just to on.
33:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Hit me.
33:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle, Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, New England, Philly, and the Rams.
33:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the Rams don't make it time.
33:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I know I've helped talk about the Rams, and I think the Rams could be aggressive to do this.
33:30
[SPEAKER_00]: If 100% philosophically have leaned in on, we were going to invest in our defensive front over and over and over again with all the guys they've drafted.
33:44
[SPEAKER_00]: My thing is, Byron Young just had a great year on the edge for them.
33:47
[SPEAKER_00]: They've got your verse on the other side.
33:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Byron Young is eligible for a God.
33:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I wish I had this in front of me.
33:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Byron Young's eligible for a contract this year.
33:58
[SPEAKER_00]: So how does Max cross becoming in screw up what you've already built there?
34:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And not saying like he'd be a problem, but just as far as like paying all of those other guys that are coming up, you know?
34:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so those are the teams that I have written down.
34:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And all of them, I mean, again, I'm not going down that road again.
34:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope,
34:34
[SPEAKER_01]: don't don't tell me what you believe.
34:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Show me how you ask it.
34:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what you believe.
34:40
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
34:40
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Patriots make sense for him.
34:44
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if I'm the Patriots, I would prioritize Crosby over brown.
34:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
34:49
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, no, like that could be part of your sliding doors thing, right?
34:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Like where it's like, well, then what's wrong?
34:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Hang up, we already have
35:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Chicago.
35:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's even looking for an address where they've got Montez white on the other side, you know, you give that they were in that they were in the divisional round last year.
35:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Very, I mean, they went total to now the conditions were the conditions, but they went total with the ramps.
35:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that's a team that's in a position to punch the accelerator and go for it, right?
35:27
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a team that makes a lot of sense.
35:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, now we're talking.
35:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I think the idea of doing that like Chicago would make sense to me.
35:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, you can't, you can't sell me on Dallas.
35:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Just can't.
35:43
[SPEAKER_01]: This is gonna be like, oh, we're gonna get another backup running back there.
35:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's your off season.
35:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Ta-da.
35:49
[SPEAKER_01]: We did it.
35:49
[SPEAKER_00]: So Dallas, if you're giving up a first round pick, in your Dallas, right?
35:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Then you've kind of gotten the love of it's not apples to apples, but you've sort of traded now, Mike of Parsons for Max Crosby and Queen of Williams, right?
36:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
36:08
[SPEAKER_00]: We're just another machine element of it.
36:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
36:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I look, I think I would love to see him Baltimore.
36:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's that's happening.
36:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Buffalo, I just their cap situation.
36:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Does he fit like a three four, which Jim Leonard coming in, it might not be ideal for him, although he probably fits any scheme, the Eagles are interesting just because it's the Eagles, I don't know, I do love the
36:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I was trying to think of something I was like, well, Max, Crosby get straight to Dallas.
36:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do this show shirtless, which no one would want.
36:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Seattle, I don't think they're going to do it.
36:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But Seattle was just like shut down the league of they got him.
36:57
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
36:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Like that defense would be freaking incredible.
37:02
[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I don't think, I think, John Schneider has learned some lessons from the last time around.
37:07
[SPEAKER_00]: and they were they were really really aggressive the last time around and didn't they get per se heart no that per se heart was on the championship team yeah they went out but they but they continued to be aggressive and they were aggressive and resigned their own guys I think it's sort of wound up they traded for Jimmy Graham if you remember um I can't remember how soon after the Super Bowl that was but it was relatively soon right wasn't Jimmy Graham there what maybe year two after the Super Bowl
37:34
[SPEAKER_00]: If I've to look that up, they were, they did make, they did do some aggressive things.
37:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, I think there is a lot that they have learned from that.
37:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm trying to think of like, where do I want him to go?
37:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I want him to be with maybe like Jesse Minner.
37:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that would be, I would like to see him pair Jesse Minner.
38:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to see him in Philly because that would mean that the Eagles aren't dead yet.
38:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And that this era is over because I do like that team and I like a lot of parts of that team.
38:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
38:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
38:14
[SPEAKER_01]: That'll be fun.
38:15
[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be fun.
38:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Buffalo would be interesting.
38:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Buffalo to me, Buffalo would, like, it would be, again, they've got to do some
38:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Man, like, they're serious, they're serious about like really getting going after it now.
38:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And you're opening a new stadium.
38:39
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to soften the blow with the with the head coach.
38:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, listen, right.
38:44
[SPEAKER_00]: And then like I think your argument would be by bringing in Max Crosby, you're making Greg Russo and Ed Oliver and all the guys you already have better, right?
38:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think.
38:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Deon Walker from Kentucky, they drafted last year.
38:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I had a really good rookie year that a lot of people didn't pay attention to.
39:02
[SPEAKER_00]: You could start seeing the makings of a pretty good defense if they can hit on some of the young guys that they've drafted the last few years.
39:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Man, but like you mentioned Cole Bishop was a really good young player.
39:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, Max Harrison, I think as a chance, a corner like they like had getting a defense of player like that would kind of be like, I think maybe
39:25
[SPEAKER_01]: You're right, too, in saying that I think I would, if I was a team that had holes in both spots, I would prioritize cross be over brown.
39:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I just would.
39:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that would be, he's a couple, he's, they're about the same age, but I just think, I think cross be is gonna hold up better.
39:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I just do.
39:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk a little bit about the draft class itself, Albert, because I think that lingers, and we've kind of alluded to it,
39:53
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's interesting because we've been talking about this.
39:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Ever since the jets went bananas at the trade deadline, and got rid of their two best defensive players, the 2027 draft is where you wanna be.
40:08
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not the 2027 draft, and you don't have any people, well, let's get the people some names.
40:14
[SPEAKER_01]: First, before we do that, I just want to set the table by saying this.
40:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Brett Veech said the quiet part out loud at the combine, which is that of their 100 players
40:26
[SPEAKER_01]: in November.
40:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Only 75 of them are in the draft, okay?
40:33
[SPEAKER_01]: There isn't a true top 100 in this draft, Albert.
40:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you're talking about guys who are eligible to put, but went back for him.
40:42
[SPEAKER_00]: The Jackson is like a pretty decent development.
40:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd say, like, yes, it's have the option to go back.
40:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, and it makes sense for them to go back.
40:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be shouldn't come out.
40:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
40:52
[SPEAKER_01]: But at the same time, it provides every couple of years a few watered down classes just because and GMs that I've talked to are like, hey, I got about 15 first round grades on guys.
41:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And then that just starts to fall off the cliff.
41:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious if any deenapolis if that sentiment is changed or based on what you've heard.
41:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's just start, I want to start with this.
41:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this piece of it, the 27 piece of it's important, because I think we're going to be talking about it for the next two months.
41:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
41:25
[SPEAKER_00]: So just to give people an idea, I don't think, so this is a really good receiver draft this year.
41:31
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, right?
41:33
[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't have Julio Jones.
41:35
[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got a ton of receivers, you're going to be able to get good receivers in the second and third rounds.
41:39
[SPEAKER_00]: You just don't have Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson,
41:42
[SPEAKER_00]: address or same thing, address is a really good address or class, but you saw it was Ruben Bane, you know, you saw it with Rvel Rees who, you know, he's still got to develop into an address.
41:53
[SPEAKER_00]: He's not an address right now, you know, he's kind of a hybrid, so, you know, like a really good address or class, but you don't have miles care, or Judevian clown, or Julius peppers.
42:04
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so that's the sort of class it is that's the thing about 27 is 27 is that right you have Jeremiah Smith who was all who was 100% in the Julio AJ Green Calvin Johnson he's in that category
42:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the addressers, you have Colin Simmons from Texas, and you have Dylan store from South Carolina.
42:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys are the director set, defensive ends.
42:28
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
42:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the, again, like the, the mile scare, at Julius Peppers, like that type of defensive end.
42:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Corner, you have, you know, Leonard Moore from Notre Dame, who's, you know, I think by all accounts, gonna be, you know, a, I don't know, these paths are tan, but like that level of prospect, you know, like that's how he's seen.
42:50
[SPEAKER_01]: great school.
42:51
[SPEAKER_01]: And then for the part guy.
42:52
[SPEAKER_00]: So I was talking with Mick Shay last week.
42:56
[SPEAKER_00]: He rattled off 11 names, right?
42:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't written down here.
43:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Archmany, Dante Moore, Brendan, Swordsville, and Laura Centsellers, Turned out, Chamble, it's Daryne, Minnesota, Julian, San C.J.
43:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Carr, Sam Levitt, Nico E. Amaliava, John Matier.
43:14
[SPEAKER_00]: That's 11 names.
43:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
43:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, all those
43:18
[SPEAKER_00]: But the fact that there are 11 guys that are be tough being talked about in that conversation this early, means there's a better chance that four or five do make it.
43:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
43:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, so I think that's the backdrop for all of this.
43:31
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to see some teams moving picks in the next year.
43:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I do think like this year's drafts.
43:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think this is a good draft to have.
43:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Picks from the low first round, through the third round.
43:49
[SPEAKER_00]: That's, or since I get.
43:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think that's the sweet spot.
43:52
[SPEAKER_00]: So you can find like a really good receiver.
43:55
[SPEAKER_01]: It's 30 to 100, essentially.
43:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Right, I brought up the name Omar Cooper from Indiana, right?
44:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was interesting because, like, again, no one's gonna confuse him with, with Julio Jones.
44:08
[SPEAKER_00]: But,
44:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, could he be on my raw same brown, could he be pooping to Kua?
44:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yes.
44:15
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the thing.
44:17
[SPEAKER_00]: That's like the sort of player you're looking at, um, You know, I know with the guy, you know, David Bailey from from Texas Tech who probably be a top five pack, right?
44:28
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's not going to be compared to Julius Peppers.
44:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Could he be Nick Benito?
44:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
44:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you'd be Nick Benito.
44:35
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so like that's what you're sort of talking about.
44:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it always to me illustrates and I think they're running back no matter you're top running back in the class to me.
44:47
[SPEAKER_01]: I think is a bell weather sometimes of all the top running back in this class of fuck it badass.
44:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry for my language there.
44:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
44:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, a guy who should have won a national championship at Notre Dame in Jericho.
45:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I look.
45:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that the running back to me and this isn't always true.
45:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, say quen Barclay, for example, broke the mold.
45:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Ezekiel Elliott broke the mold.
45:14
[SPEAKER_01]: But again, I think if we had to re-litigate that draft, I would imagine maybe have the cowboys doing something else there.
45:20
[SPEAKER_01]: But what I'm trying to say here is that you're rushing titles.
45:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, that's the thing, you know.
45:26
[SPEAKER_01]: He did, but, well, let's just hold on one second.
45:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
45:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was central to the development of Dak Prescott.
45:32
[SPEAKER_00]: That was maybe his greatest value.
45:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Because Dak Prescott didn't have to be the focal point in that offense early in his career because of Z.
45:40
[SPEAKER_01]: You know?
45:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're, if you were Jerry Jones, you would have done that.
45:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I would talk early help with Jerry cost development, you would have done him over Jalen Ramsey, Ronnie Stanley, DeForce, Buckner, that was a great draft and that's the thing is like, and that's the positional value question.
45:56
[SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's something we're going to be asking now, right?
45:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Ones.
46:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So I use in my column this morning.
46:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I use the example of the 2023 lines, okay?
46:10
[SPEAKER_00]: You remember what they did in the draft that year?
46:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And how they got smoked for it?
46:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Was that the youth that they took Ed and Hutchinson?
46:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
46:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Jamir and Gibbs and Jack Campbell in the first round.
46:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Got, yes, yes, yes.
46:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Who in the world would take a running back in an off-ball line back there, right?
46:29
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a waste of a first round pick.
46:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Those are a waste of first round picks, right?
46:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And they got killed for it.
46:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, they wind up with now a guy who's a three-time pro-baller and Gibbs and a guy who is first team all pro
46:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And then in the second round, they took a corner safety hybrid, again, not necessarily a premium position guy in Brian Branch, and they took Sam or Forda to tie that.
46:58
[SPEAKER_00]: They have four really good players.
47:01
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's sort of the make-up of this year's class.
47:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, like, it's interesting when you look back at it, right?
47:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm going to give you, they took, they took Gibbs at 12, and they took Campbell at 18.
47:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you the premium position players that we're taking around those two, okay?
47:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Lucas Van Ness, Will McDonald, Rotorick Jones, Emmanuel Forbes, Christian Gonzalez, Dianta Banks, Jackson Smith and Jigba, Quentin Johnson, Johnson, Zay Flowers, Jordan Allison.
47:33
[SPEAKER_00]: How many of those guys that I just named are better players than Gibson Campbell?
47:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I, JSN, maybe Gonzalez.
47:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
47:44
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the right, I mean, the lines of the right thing.
47:46
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that that's going to be the question for teams this year, right?
47:49
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, when Kenyan City is sitting for you there in the teens, you just take them, even though maybe some people say you should take a tight end that high, right?
47:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
47:59
[SPEAKER_00]: You're my love is sitting for you there for or five.
48:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you take them over the edge rusher, sunny styles who blew up the combine, right?
48:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But he's not fall linebacker.
48:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you take him in the top 10?
48:11
[SPEAKER_00]: or are you gonna fall back on the positional value and think we need to take the receiver or we need to take the edge rusher.
48:18
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I, there's a lot, I think there's gonna be a lot of interesting questions like that, you know, when you have guys like love and styles and CD who are really good players.
48:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It all depends on the one.
48:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it all depends on how you evaluate your own roster, how good you are at evaluating your own roster, and what kind of ability you have at forecasting things, I don't have a problem taking running back what I was trying to say is I think that based on how high Jeremiah Love goes in the straft, I think is a bellweather to actual talent, how much talent is in the drap because if a running back stands out, that high in above and
48:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Even after the sample size of like, hey, a lot of times is either slow to get off the ground or complicate the development of your offense or whatever, in junior Gibbs is a different example and I want to rebuttle to that in a second.
49:08
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that based on how high he goes, it will indicate to me exactly how frail the class is in general.
49:17
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're willing to say, well, he's just so far in above,
49:20
[SPEAKER_01]: one of the best players, and I'm not going to get equal value elsewhere.
49:25
[SPEAKER_01]: That to me is how I will judge at least how everybody else is looking at this class going into it, if that makes sense.
49:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, but they keep saying it's like they did it right.
49:37
[SPEAKER_01]: They did it right.
49:37
[SPEAKER_01]: They had David Montgomery.
49:39
[SPEAKER_01]: They had, you know, they had somebody else They put them in a believable position.
49:44
[SPEAKER_01]: The police did it right at the time.
49:46
[SPEAKER_01]: They had an unbelievable offensive line.
49:48
[SPEAKER_01]: The giants didn't.
49:49
[SPEAKER_01]: The raiders didn't.
49:50
[SPEAKER_01]: The Falcons didn't.
49:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Even though if I mean the Falcons, I mean whatever.
49:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I guess the Falcons said they had L. G. And so I shouldn't put the Falcons into that category, but
50:03
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny because I'm wondering what is going to happen to make us salivate over this class because last year I thought
50:12
[SPEAKER_01]: the NFL kind of got bailed out because we had cam ward and then we had we didn't know what we had in Jackson, Dart yet, right?
50:19
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think he was really a much part of the conversation as he should be.
50:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like it was a very real question whether he was going to go on the first round or not.
50:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, obviously, he went near the bottom of the first round.
50:29
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, by definition, he was borderline anyway, but yeah, he wasn't.
50:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think at this point in the calendar,
50:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and that was the other thing is we had so much of our mental equity taken up by a fifth round pick an eventual fifth round pick or may or may not even be the Brown starting quarterback next year in Shidorah Sanders got it can't believe I'm still saying those words, but
50:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the NFL is going to do or we're going to do because we end up just tripping over ourselves anyway at this time of year.
51:06
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, what is going to be interesting to you in this class?
51:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it whether Ty Simpson sneaks into the first round at this point?
51:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're already seeing Dan Orlovsky came out and he said he liked Ty Simpson better than Fernando Mendoza and oh, God, here we go.
51:20
[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, I don't quarter that question, it's class or no.
51:25
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't.
51:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Who's gonna take Ty Simpson?
51:31
[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams?
51:32
[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams?
51:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
51:36
[SPEAKER_00]: The, I don't know the Steelers will, because I think that's basically repeating what they did for you to take it thing, right?
51:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle.
51:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think, like, because I think most smart teams, when they're, when they have a quarterback need, most smart teams have talked to in these sorts of situations,
51:57
[SPEAKER_00]: You'll look at two quarterback classes right you'll look at this one and then you'll look at the next one and you'll start to weigh.
52:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Now sometimes the classes so good you don't need to do that like two years ago if you're the patrons or the or the bears or the.
52:11
[SPEAKER_00]: or the commanders, you know, one of the top three picks is like, yeah, like, you know, those three guys are, you know, potential number one overall picks in most season, most years, so just take them.
52:23
[SPEAKER_00]: But, I mean, I, I can tell you like the Vikings and the Falcons and the, and the Broncos did look ahead.
52:31
[SPEAKER_00]: And I like, whoa, like, it doesn't look like there's a lot in the 25 costs and they were right about that, right?
52:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it doesn't look like there's going to be great opportunity to get one next year.
52:39
[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe we ought to just do it now.
52:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think this year, it's that's going to be part of the equation for everybody, right?
52:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Like as if you are in the bottom half of the first round and you need a quarterback,
52:55
[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna look, you're gonna look at arch manning.
52:57
[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna look at, at, at, at, at, at, Brendan Sorsby who's coming back from an injury, Texas, Tachon has wildly talent.
53:03
[SPEAKER_00]: You look at Julian Sane, who was, you know, was a, a high-zman finalist at Ohio State, like, you know, look at CJ Carr, who has all the tools and shows so much promises first here, starting at Notre Dame.
53:16
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to the rally this year, baby.
53:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Lenora Sellers is Lenora Sellers bounce back, you know, because a lot of people looked at him that way.
53:24
[SPEAKER_00]: So I, I think that that's a factor too.
53:27
[SPEAKER_00]: And I, I just can't find very many people Connor that think Tyson says, first round talent.
53:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I like, and maybe I will over the next, over the next couple months.
53:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I, I'm just not seeing it right now.
53:42
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, this draft needed it needed the NCAA to deny Trinidad
53:47
[SPEAKER_01]: did.
53:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because he was coming off this white hot run and he's little under size, but like is there a team that can talk about it?
53:54
[SPEAKER_00]: You would be an interesting one because he has to be mean.
53:57
[SPEAKER_00]: He just doesn't like he doesn't have the size, you know?
54:01
[SPEAKER_00]: But anybody, you don't need to be a scout to have watched him in the playoffs and like holy crap.
54:05
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
54:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Like this guy's a real playmaker.
54:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Before we go, just really quickly though, you said who would take Ty Simpson, okay?
54:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to start at pick 18 and we just very quickly, yes or no, before we get out of here, okay?
54:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Because
54:26
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, time to stir up a little shit, Albert.
54:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, 18, time to get the aggregated baby.
54:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
54:32
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no.
54:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to start at 16.
54:34
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll start at 16.
54:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
54:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
54:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
54:37
[SPEAKER_01]: NFL insider colon.
54:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're distracted me a second ago is Yahoo sports is saying, I'm reported that Max Prozbee could be traded this week.
54:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I did have, I think on that on that piece of my column.
54:51
[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess they listening to this as we're taping it.
54:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a, uh, what's going on?
54:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It's 16.
54:58
[SPEAKER_01]: We have the jets.
54:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
55:00
[SPEAKER_01]: What do you say tie Simpson?
55:02
[SPEAKER_01]: 16.
55:04
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I say no to lines 17, that's a no for me, right now Vikings it 18 No
55:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Took you a minute like it's sort of the same thing we talked about with the Steelers right right where are you are you I mean you do that two years ago with JJ McCarty when you compromise in the physical skill set and And it has a gone great panthers at 19 the team's supposed to be getting trade calls for Andy Dolm.
55:33
[SPEAKER_01]: No Okay, uh Cowboys at 20 no viewers
55:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to, I only hesitate on that one because I think they're going to start to put young quarterbacks in the hopper soon.
55:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
55:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if they do it with a first round pick.
55:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, for example, with Dallas, you know, spent a lot of time in Dallas.
56:05
[SPEAKER_00]: It was Doug Nussmire.
56:06
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, who have been in Dallas with Garrett Nussmire.
56:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And Garrett Nussmire sort of one of those works like he had a tough last year.
56:13
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I like I'd say like with Dallas, like it's way more likely.
56:17
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Garrett Nussmire in the third round.
56:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Then it is tie Simpson in the first round, but I wouldn't totally rule out the idea that they put a young quarter back in the pipeline.
56:26
[SPEAKER_01]: They do have those two first round picks.
56:28
[SPEAKER_01]: They have the extra one there from the, from the parses trade.
56:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Steelers 21, you're, you're in no there.
56:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
56:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Chargers at 22, I'm in no.
56:37
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
56:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Eagles at 23.
56:40
[SPEAKER_00]: See, this is interesting, too, right?
56:43
[SPEAKER_01]: This is where I think we start, you know, where we start kind of, yeah.
56:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I think it's more likely that the Eagles draft one in the second or third round.
56:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think they're taking a quarterback this year.
56:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I wouldn't, I think they're taking quarrex somewhere this year.
56:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I did agree with that.
56:59
[SPEAKER_00]: They really like Tana McKee to which we've been over.
57:03
[SPEAKER_00]: They had some interest in him and, you know, like, and, and didn't move on it because they like them that much.
57:09
[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, yeah, I mean, I wouldn't totally rule out the Eagles taking one.
57:14
[SPEAKER_00]: This seems high, but, um, you know, I think they'll probably take one somewhere.
57:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Brounds of 24.
57:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the Browns are going to at least investigate it.
57:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think the Browns have to.
57:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Browns will at least turn over rocks on this.
57:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, like I think they're more likely to be one of those teams is pointing towards 24 or 27.
57:34
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, I think you'd have to consider them as a team that would at least investigate it.
57:41
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a 25, no, right?
57:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Bill's a 26, no.
57:46
[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers of 27.
57:47
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
57:47
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
57:49
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
57:50
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
57:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
57:51
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
57:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Texas of 28.
57:53
