- 0:05Speaker 2: There's always a reason to feel good. First thing in
- 0:09Speaker 2: the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. So
- 0:12Speaker 2: why are you feeling good this morning before five o'clock?
- 0:14Speaker 2: Give us a call at eight six, six, nine two
- 0:16Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one. Tell us please, because your
- 0:19Speaker 2: joy might just become contagious, chilly. Why are you feeling
- 0:22Speaker 2: good today?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Okay, so you know we're supposed to change the clocks
- 0:26Speaker 3: this Saturday night into Sunday.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yes, don't remind me.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I know we're supposed to spring forward one hour, so
- 0:32Speaker 3: technically we're losing an hour of sleep. However, I'm going
- 0:35Speaker 3: to focus on the fact that it's a spring forward,
- 0:39Speaker 3: you get it. It means it's going to be lighter
- 0:42Speaker 3: later outside. So let's focus on the fact that we're
- 0:46Speaker 3: going to have more.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Daylight as opposed to falling back, which is just the darkness.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It's darkness that that lingers the fall back. Yeah, but
- 0:56Speaker 2: you're right spring forward, especially since it happens on a weekend,
- 0:59Speaker 2: in the middle of the night on Saturday and Sunday.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Not bad. I'm feeling good because my significant other had
- 1:04Speaker 2: work travel which was canceled because of world events, and
- 1:08Speaker 2: that means she's going to be home. She was supposed
- 1:11Speaker 2: to be away for a month.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, like going to different places that involve her doing
- 1:17Speaker 2: her job.
- 1:18Speaker 3: And we don't need to get into that. But when
- 1:21Speaker 3: how much is it being cut short? Like she's coming back?
- 1:23Speaker 2: When she's back now, Oh, she's already bad. She was
- 1:26Speaker 2: supposed to leave today on round two of the you know,
- 1:30Speaker 2: she came back literally for twenty four hours, and she
- 1:33Speaker 2: was supposed to hit the road again. And now she's
- 1:35Speaker 2: going to be here. And that's a good thing because
- 1:37Speaker 2: we haven't spent enough time and so I'm looking forward
- 1:41Speaker 2: to that. Where Toby and Chilly in the morning, it's
- 1:44Speaker 2: ninety seven point one. Watch fmhy you feeling good this morning?

- 2:03Speaker 3: second term yesterday, removing Christy Gnome as Homeland Security Secretary.
- 2:07Speaker 3: He nominated Oklahoma Republican Senator Mark Wayne Mullen to replace
- 2:11Speaker 3: her pending Senate confirmation, while assigning Gnome a new role
- 2:15Speaker 3: as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, which
- 2:19Speaker 3: is a new security initiative. Public comments on the proposed
- 2:23Speaker 3: White House Ballroom are overwhelmingly negative. Thousands of responses submitted
- 2:28Speaker 3: to a federal planning panel largely criticize the size and
- 2:32Speaker 3: impact of the project on the historic building. Outrage is
- 2:36Speaker 3: growing in Fairfax County over how prosecutors handled a repeat
- 2:40Speaker 3: offender who's now charged with murder. Despite Abdul Jello having
- 2:44Speaker 3: been arrested more than thirty times, Fairfax County prosecutors continue
- 2:48Speaker 3: to set him free and refuse to honor ice detainers.
- 2:53Speaker 3: A plan to better light up Union Station at night
- 2:56Speaker 3: is moving forward after approval from the National Capital Planning Commission.
- 3:00Speaker 3: The project will add new led lighting to improve safety
- 3:04Speaker 3: and also highlight the historic station's architecture. The course layout
- 3:08Speaker 3: and logo for the Freedom two fifty Grand Prix will
- 3:12Speaker 3: be unveiled on Monday at noon. The IndyCar Series will
- 3:15Speaker 3: hold its first race through the streets of DC on
- 3:17Speaker 3: August twenty third, with Monumental Sports handling the marketing and
- 3:21Speaker 3: ticket sales, and The National Park Service says DC's cherry
- 3:24Speaker 3: blossoms should be in peak bloom between March twenty ninth
- 3:28Speaker 3: and April first. The Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to
- 3:31Speaker 3: start March twentieth. Forecast today cloudy with some isolated showers.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Highs in the mid fifties. Right now forty eight in Rockville.

- 3:53Speaker 2: on you and your mental wellness. Your morning mindset is
- 3:57Speaker 2: on the waywards to inspire on a Friday morning. If
- 4:00Speaker 2: you've been listening, you know there might be a theme
- 4:02Speaker 2: to this Friday edition and we'll get to it coming
- 4:06Speaker 2: up time now for your morning mindset, it's ninety seven
- 4:12Speaker 2: point one. WASHEFM Toby and Chilly in the morning, And
- 4:14Speaker 2: if you've been listening, you know that it's been inspired
- 4:18Speaker 2: because it's Friday by the best of the eighties and
- 4:20Speaker 2: nineties Weekend. It starts with Sabrina Conti here on ninety
- 4:23Speaker 2: seven point one WASHCHEFM five o'clock today, listen all weekend.
- 4:27Speaker 3: So what lyric did you find from a nineties song
- 4:31Speaker 3: that you're going to use to inspire or motivate people?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Return of the Mac by Mark Morrison. Yes, you might
- 4:37Speaker 2: be going, really, how is that going to motivate and
- 4:42Speaker 2: inspire me? Return of the Mac? There it is, he says,
- 4:45Speaker 2: return of the Mac. Come on, return of the Mac.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Oh my god, you know that I'll be back here.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I am return of the Mac once again, top of
- 4:54Speaker 2: the world. Watch his flow now, what does that mean?
- 4:58Speaker 2: It means whatever you want it to mean. For you.
- 5:00Speaker 2: On a Friday, you practically sang the whole song. That's right,
- 5:02Speaker 2: well most of the chorus, you know, because you've made
- 5:05Speaker 2: it to the weekend. You've made it through another week.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Eight is Friday. After you get done with work today,
- 5:11Speaker 2: you're good. You don't have to plug back in until well,
- 5:14Speaker 2: whenever you go back to work. So make the most
- 5:17Speaker 2: of your weekend. All right, Oh my god, watch my flow,
- 5:20Speaker 2: Mark Morrison, Return of the Mac your morning mindset today,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and if it spoke to you, share it with someone
- 5:26Speaker 2: who needs it. We'll put the link to the song
- 5:28Speaker 2: in the comments on install or on the Toby and
- 5:31Speaker 2: chilipageashfm dot com. Stay right there because coming up next
- 5:35Speaker 2: as you listen to us.
- 5:36Speaker 3: There is a Swedish tradition called cozy Fridays. Apparently it's
- 5:40Speaker 3: great for reducing your stress and anxiety. In case the
- 5:43Speaker 3: lyrics of that song don't do it for you, watch
- 5:45Speaker 3: my flow and we'll describe what it is and discuss.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Coming up next on ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Time again for you to learn something new with Toby
- 5:53Speaker 2: and Chilly in the morning at ninety seven point one
- 5:56Speaker 2: wash FM. This is about a Swedish tradition called fredeginsis well,
- 6:03Speaker 2: is not even right? Did I totally? If you're Swedish
- 6:06Speaker 2: and I butchered the word, I apologize.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you didn't say it correctly.
- 6:08Speaker 3: It translates to cozy Friday right on, and it basically
- 6:12Speaker 3: they encourage people to relax at home after the work week,
- 6:15Speaker 3: enjoying some comfort food, lighting some candles, watching TV, or
- 6:18Speaker 3: just chilling at home with loved ones because it can
- 6:21Speaker 3: help reduce stress and anxiety, you know, staying in, not
- 6:23Speaker 3: going out on a Friday.
- 6:25Speaker 2: As opposed to like the free for all Friday where
- 6:27Speaker 2: you go out and you just do whatever and you
- 6:29Speaker 2: throw down. Yes, Friday night used to be the party night,
- 6:32Speaker 2: and then Saturday night was date night or vice versa.
- 6:35Speaker 2: But typically you got that in happy hour ran long.
- 6:38Speaker 4: You couldn't wait till Friday.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I mean literally at five pm, a lot of people
- 6:42Speaker 3: would go right to the happy hour and keep going.
- 6:44Speaker 2: That's right.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Apparently we're doing it all wrong according to the Swedish.
- 6:48Speaker 6: I mean, I guess it's all culturalizing. It might be
- 6:51Speaker 6: it might be encouraging people to relax at home after
- 6:54Speaker 6: a long week. I do think there is something to that, absolutely,
- 6:57Speaker 6: And while it may not involve comfort food food or
- 7:00Speaker 6: lighting candles or watching TV or spending time with loved ones,
- 7:04Speaker 6: for you, whatever you choose to do will help to
- 7:07Speaker 6: reduce stress and anxiety, which is a great thing and
- 7:10Speaker 6: something that we don't do enough of for our no,
- 7:12Speaker 6: but we do.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Like to go out on Fridays, Yeah, just to go
- 7:15Speaker 3: out to eat at least because I'm not cooking, you
- 7:17Speaker 3: know what I mean, Like I'm over the making dinner
- 7:19Speaker 3: all the rest of the week. For us, the lazy
- 7:22Speaker 3: days on Sunday where we barely get out of our pjs,
- 7:26Speaker 3: we're just kind of lounging around and then the Sunday
- 7:28Speaker 3: scary set in.
- 7:29Speaker 4: What about you? Which day do you chill out?
- 7:31Speaker 2: All of the above, all you bang? I make sure
- 7:34Speaker 2: everything's done on Friday. Then if I fall asleep, I
- 7:38Speaker 2: fall asleep and I don't wake up till I want
- 7:40Speaker 2: to wake up. And then if I end up going
- 7:42Speaker 2: back to sleep, fine.
- 7:43Speaker 4: That's called bed rotting. It sounds great.
- 7:45Speaker 2: No, I would call it healing and taking care of
- 7:49Speaker 2: myself and letting myself sleep. Okay, it's bed rotting. But
- 7:52Speaker 2: maybe the Sweetish tradition is something that I'll try, and
- 7:55Speaker 2: maybe it's something that you've tried, or if you're Swedish,
- 7:58Speaker 2: tell us all about the tradition. Give us call it
- 8:00Speaker 2: nine two seven forty three sixty one. And if you
- 8:02Speaker 2: want to dig deeper on this cozy Friday, you can

- 10:48Speaker 2: top of the hour. That's what you get when you
- 10:50Speaker 2: get up with us. It's ninety seven point one watch FM,
- 10:52Speaker 2: Tlby and Chilly in the Morning coming up in just
- 10:55Speaker 2: a few minutes. There's a Harvard professor that says AI
- 10:59Speaker 2: is causing peer people who use it to lose their
- 11:02Speaker 2: cognitive skills and abilities. So the question is this, is
- 11:07Speaker 2: there a skill that your kids should be able to
- 11:10Speaker 2: do but they can't because of this technology, because of AI.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We'll get into this in minutes if you want to
- 11:16Speaker 2: jump in now eight six, six, nine, two, seven, forty
- 11:19Speaker 2: three sixty one Toby and Chilly in the Morning on
- 11:22Speaker 2: ninety seven point one wash FM. We've talked a lot
- 11:25Speaker 2: about AI and technology and what it does with people
- 11:29Speaker 2: and kids and skills that it's replaced. It can be good,
- 11:32Speaker 2: it can be bad. Now, there's a professor at Harvard
- 11:35Speaker 2: It says that the use of this tech, specifically AI,
- 11:39Speaker 2: is causing people to lose their cognitive abilities, like the
- 11:42Speaker 2: ability to do basic things chilling.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Well, that's true, because we're not using our own brain
- 11:46Speaker 3: power to do it. We're taking little shortcuts. I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 3: one thing that comes to mind that kids today can't
- 11:51Speaker 3: do because of technology is writing cursive. It's not really
- 11:55Speaker 3: needed technically.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Something I'm glad I know, and I'm glad my daughter
- 11:59Speaker 2: can write incursive, you know, not that she really needs to.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It's just kind of a lost art, you know.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Is there any skill that your daughter can't do they
- 12:07Speaker 3: wish she could?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Well, I think she's not very good at having a
- 12:09Speaker 2: conversation in real life. Well yeah, I mean it's all
- 12:12Speaker 2: about messages. She doesn't even answer the phone half the time,
- 12:16Speaker 2: and instead she'd rather text. I'm like, okay, once upon
- 12:19Speaker 2: a time, we knew how to had conversations.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Anything you've noticed with your son Denado?
- 12:24Speaker 3: He's twelve, and I know he can't read a map
- 12:26Speaker 3: because he really doesn't have to. GPS kind of tells
- 12:28Speaker 3: you where to go and what to do, So I
- 12:30Speaker 3: guess he could argue, why should I learn?
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but navigation is not the end all b alchili
- 12:35Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, that's what I would remind your son,
- 12:38Speaker 2: So teach him how to read a map. It's important.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Is there a skill that say, maybe your kids should
- 12:48Speaker 2: be able to do but they can't because of technology,
- 12:51Speaker 2: because of AI? What is it? Bonus points? If you
- 12:54Speaker 2: don't have that same skill, give us a call, jump
- 12:57Speaker 2: into the conversation or tap the talk back microphone and
- 12:59Speaker 2: we can get into this. Coming up in minutes is
- 13:02Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning. Continue, What is something
- 13:05Speaker 2: a skill if you will, that your kids should be
- 13:08Speaker 2: able to do but they can't for whatever reason. Some
- 13:11Speaker 2: people are blaming technology for it. We're Toby and Chilly
- 13:13Speaker 2: in the Morning. It's ninety seven point one watch out them.
- 13:16Speaker 2: And the reason we're talking about it this morning.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Because Harvard studies show that because of AI, many of us,
- 13:23Speaker 3: especially our children, are losing some of our cognitive abilities
- 13:26Speaker 3: and skills.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I still can't get over that whole writing and cursive thing.
- 13:30Speaker 2: But that is a skill that yeah, it's a lost art,
- 13:32Speaker 2: it really is. Chilly jump into the conversation at eight
- 13:35Speaker 2: sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one in Dallas, Nathan,
- 13:39Speaker 2: good morning, what's up?
- 13:40Speaker 7: My kids can't be a clock? What do you mean
- 13:43Speaker 7: like the old school analog ones. They're still young, so
- 13:45Speaker 7: I'll teach them. But like kids these they they're losing
- 13:48Speaker 7: a lot of skills they should be getting from schools.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Thanks for the call, Nathan, although I will say that
- 13:53Speaker 3: they did teach.
- 13:54Speaker 4: My son in his school how to read an analog clock.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I mean, that's cool in everything. But here's a thought.
- 13:59Speaker 2: How about we teach our kids these basics at home.
- 14:02Speaker 4: You'd have to buy an analog clock in your home.
- 14:05Speaker 2: First excellent point in Montgomery Village, Alice, And what's up?
- 14:10Speaker 4: My kid cannot make a phone call?
- 14:12Speaker 5: I said, call the dentist, and he asked if I
- 14:14Speaker 5: could email them instead, Like, sir, you have a driver's permit.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Alison.
- 14:18Speaker 3: You make a good point, but I also think a
- 14:20Speaker 3: lot of these kids actually can make the call.
- 14:23Speaker 4: They just aren't as comfortable doing.
- 14:25Speaker 2: That, right, or they just choose not to exhibit a
- 14:29Speaker 2: my daughter.
- 14:30Speaker 7: Uh.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Anyway, we're Toby and Chilly in the morning. Thank you
- 14:33Speaker 2: for the call. If you want to jump into and
