Transcript
- 0:00It's most things Kenobi. We always have the high ground,
- 0:05Anakin. Hi everyone.
- 0:19Welcome to another episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast
- 0:22about Obi Wan Kenobi and all things Star Wars.
- 0:24I'm your host, Lauren. And I'm your host, Leanne.
- 0:28And this week we are finishing up Skeleton Crew.
- 0:31We are going to talk about episode 7 and 8, which was the
- 0:35finale. Yes, and we haven't talked about
- 0:37it yet. You and I, we haven't even said
- 0:39anything. We haven't, I literally just
- 0:42watched it like an hour ago so. Oh, you got it fresh.
- 0:45I watched it on the way home back home from my trip so.
- 0:49Oh, I see. Well, I'm amazed it hasn't been
- 0:52spoiled for me by now, because it's well.
- 0:54I have no social media at this point.
- 0:56Everything's been deleted. Everything.
- 0:59Everything. 'S gone.
- 1:00I'm on the verge. I I like cannot stand it
- 1:02anymore. I I like having the MTK stuff,
- 1:05but all my personal stuff I'm I'm done with it.
- 1:07Yeah, well, what did you think? Overall, I think it was very
- 1:13good. I really enjoyed it.
- 1:14I do have like a desire for more wrap up than we got, but in
- 1:20general I think it was really fun.
- 1:22Yeah, I I wanted more out of the last two episodes only because I
- 1:29think you and I came up with a better idea for that planet and
- 1:32the parents than they did. I agree.
- 1:35I is that sad? No, I think it it was what it
- 1:39appeared unfortunately. I wanted so much more.
- 1:43And yeah, and the what was his name?
- 1:46The Chancellor? Who who's the who's the guy?
- 1:49That wasn't a guy at all. It was a fucking Droid.
- 1:52Oh, we didn't give our spoiler. Oh yeah, Spoiler alert, yeah.
- 1:58Whoops. We'll put it in the title of the
- 2:01episode. Yeah, so with that, that thing
- 2:05was a Droid. I was disappointed.
- 2:08I was too. I was.
- 2:10I kept hoping right up until he stabbed it in the eye that it
- 2:14was actually a person. Like the Wizard of Oz.
- 2:17Yes, concealing their exactly exactly that.
- 2:22I thought for sure it was exactly like the Wizard of Oz
- 2:25cause they've ripped off of so many other formats I guess.
- 2:29Yeah, yeah. For this show, I was like, that
- 2:31would be hilarious if it was some dude in there like pulling
- 2:35cranks and levers and just pretending to be a Droid and
- 2:38then it wasn't. Thinking or like there's an
- 2:41episode of Doctor Who that had almost an identical setup where
- 2:44you come in, there's all these consoles, there's this thing in
- 2:47the middle with all these wires and it it was like a person
- 2:51attached to the network. And I was like, oh, maybe it's
- 2:56going to be like that. And no, it was really just a big
- 2:58Droid. It was just a big Droid, yeah.
- 3:03I don't know, it looks very empire esque in there.
- 3:06It did. It really did.
- 3:08I was getting, I was getting vibes of, I don't know, I I
- 3:12just, it wasn't, it was very dark for such a cheerful planet,
- 3:18but the whole thing was it was a facade.
- 3:20I really did like the idea of that protective layer around
- 3:26like it was stormy and it was generated by those things.
- 3:31Yeah, whatever they were. It was kind of like the Clone
- 3:34Wars episode where Obi Wan and Anakin get stuck on that planet
- 3:37and they can't get through because they're all connected
- 3:39electronically with the barrier of their own.
- 3:42It was like a meteor barrier. Droll.
- 3:45Yeah. We were droll that like fishy.
- 3:49Remember Obi Wan says like my twitchy friend.
- 3:54He calls like a twitchy pirating guy.
- 4:00Yes, Iego, Iego, whatever it is the.
- 4:03Something. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:05You know, I was getting vibes of that and.
- 4:08Me too. It's a good way to protect a
- 4:10planet if you want it to be protected.
- 4:13Yes, but OK. Like why was it there?
- 4:15Why was it so protected? Why was it run by a Droid?
- 4:19Why did the Republic know about it?
- 4:22Like why did they know about the Jedi being traitors?
- 4:27Like they didn't answer any questions about this it's just
- 4:31it is what it is. Fine I guess, but like to have
- 4:34us go this far into the lower and have no explanation at all
- 4:40is a little disappointing. It it, it was a little
- 4:44disappointing. You really have to be kind of
- 4:47stupid to live on a planet and know that a Droid is running it
- 4:51and not rebel against the Droid like.
- 4:56Did they? Did they know it was a Droid?
- 4:59Fern's mother made mention to meet the so and so is at such a
- 5:03young age is such a privilege like so that told me that she
- 5:07had met the whatever the title of this thing was what was.
- 5:11Was it the secretary? Maybe I don't.
- 5:13I can't remember now. So it made me think like, oh,
- 5:16she's met the Droid before and in that case, the fuck?
- 5:23I guess if they understood the importance of their safety, you
- 5:29might not care. That's true, Yeah 'cause
- 5:32everything was done for their safety and all this.
- 5:35Yeah, even they, they, I even put subtitles on to hear what
- 5:38the droids were saying exactly. And they say you will be stunned
- 5:41for your safety. Yeah, right.
- 5:43When the parents were running away trying to send the
- 5:45communicator up into the Yeah, it's all very spooky then,
- 5:52because it's like who, who is, who's the person or being that
- 5:59started it at the beginning. And allegedly it's a part of
- 6:03several other planets that were very similar.
- 6:05Remember the the coordinates to at Aten were scribbled or
- 6:09scraped out, so there's several others that fell.
- 6:14What? Why I have to know more?
- 6:16I have to know more. Right.
- 6:19Like to to lay all this lore out and then wrap none of it up.
- 6:23Explain none of it at all. Yeah, I think that was my
- 6:28biggest problem with the show at that point at the end.
- 6:31Me too, I was enjoying it but I kept feeling like I wanted more,
- 6:36I needed more explanation. And then even the ending.
- 6:40Even at the ending when the kids are all together and they just
- 6:44show whim seeing the Republic ship come in and then they cut
- 6:47to black, it's like what happened.
- 6:50Yeah, yeah, Tell who got off that ship who isn't, wasn't it?
- 6:54It looked like Leia's ship but like.
- 6:55It did look like her ship. Yeah, like, and like, are we to
- 6:59assume that Leia's a part of all this like we needed?
- 7:02I don't know. I don't know.
- 7:04The republics knew about this place even though they were
- 7:08making old credits that were from the old Republic or
- 7:13whatever it was. So are they.
- 7:15Who is coming to get these credits?
- 7:18Why are they still doing it if they knew that the Republic fell
- 7:22and now there was the Empire and now there's the Republic the new
- 7:26Like what the fuck guys I'm confused I need more
- 7:30explanation. Yeah, I I try to not overthink
- 7:37things, but it's hard not to when it's presented with all
- 7:40this lore and then we don't get anything.
- 7:43It was weird. It was weird.
- 7:45I even, I really also felt like unsatisfied with Jod because
- 7:49like, me too, the last time you see him, he's just walking up to
- 7:52the window watching his ship go down.
- 7:54And then he gets this look on his face like, huh, like he's
- 7:58crafty. He's coming up with another
- 7:59plan. Why did they just leave?
- 8:01Him there? Why wasn't he arrested?
- 8:04What the fuck? There was no resolution.
- 8:07They literally left all this stuff hanging.
- 8:10But that implied that there's not gonna be a Season 2.
- 8:12I didn't get a sense that there was gonna be more.
- 8:15I read one article that said that they left it so that if
- 8:18people do want more, they could build from it, but they'd have
- 8:23to wait and see. So yeah, I mean, maybe Jod gets
- 8:29away with some of those credits, you know, like he doesn't have
- 8:32to share because everybody went down.
- 8:34And first of all, can I just say how rude it was for them to
- 8:38shoot down that pirate ship and then just it just like fell into
- 8:42the city and destroyed their city?
- 8:44No. Who's going to rebuild?
- 8:46That every time I see that in a movie, like a superhero movie,
- 8:51I'm like, are there people in those buildings?
- 8:53Did you just kill like 1000 people?
- 8:56Yeah. Yeah, what the hell Yeah, I I
- 9:00agree. I I had the same thought.
- 9:01I was like, oh, oh, that's awful.
- 9:04That's. Terrible.
- 9:05And it went into the waterway. Does that poison their water?
- 9:07Like how do we fix this? And how did their lights all
- 9:12come back on at the end? I don't know.
- 9:15I. I think why it, it's not like I
- 9:21loved it. I really did love it.
- 9:22I'm not trying to just shit talk the whole time, Right, right.
- 9:25All I can say is because it was so good and they were building,
- 9:29building, building every single episode to have it end in this
- 9:34kind of kid show, air quotes kid show way where you just like.
- 9:39And then the good guys arrived and everything was good again.
- 9:42The lights came back on and we're done.
- 9:44It's like that is the opposite of how you've been telling the
- 9:47story. So.
- 9:47Far. And so that's why it felt
- 9:51incongruous to me that ending felt like it didn't completely
- 9:56fit in with the way they've been constructing the story all
- 9:59along. To be completely honest, I fast
- 10:02forwarded through most of the little like speed bike chase.
- 10:07I spent, I spent through it. I didn't watch it, so I don't
- 10:11really know what happened. I just got to the end of it.
- 10:13I was like, I'm not watching this Skip skip, skip, skip,
- 10:15skip. There was a part that was really
- 10:17funny during it. I laughed out loud, actually.
- 10:19Really. Yes, because the dad is with
- 10:23them and they make this jump over a gorge and you know, the
- 10:27dad is like the dad is all I. Yeah, he he did it.
- 10:31Yay. And they're like, come on.
- 10:33And then I said skip, skip, skip because I I waited until it
- 10:35looked like something was going to happen.
- 10:37So I did see that part. It was cute.
- 10:39Yeah. The the dad was a kid again.
- 10:41Like let loose brother. Yeah, seriously.
- 10:44Like, lighten up. Him and Ferns mom should get
- 10:47together, that's what I. I thought that, like, for for a
- 10:52moment there I was like, maybe he's the pirate captain and she
- 10:56was the concubine. And like, no, they didn't wrap
- 10:59up the pirate captain thing. They didn't do anything.
- 11:02They didn't explain why the ship crash landed there, but there
- 11:05was no pirate there. Like yeah, I'm confused.
- 11:08Yeah, it was, it was, it was real good until they had to tie
- 11:13it all together and they just didn't.
- 11:15And I, yeah, have problems with that, but maybe, maybe we'll get
- 11:20some anyway. Yeah.
- 11:22It was. I was actually pleased that JA
- 11:26didn't turn good in the end, 'cause sometimes it's just OK to
- 11:31have a bad guy, someone who sucks.
- 11:34Terrible like. This such.
- 11:36A jerk. Oh my God.
- 11:39I mean, the way he treated those kids in the end, brutal.
- 11:43It was probably hard for him to like, act that out 'cause he
- 11:46probably really liked those, those actors and actresses,
- 11:49those kids in real life, That would make me feel bad.
- 11:54He made them all cry. He was mean to kneel.
- 11:59I. Know Neil is such a he.
- 12:02When that big blast went off, I was not expecting that to be
- 12:06Neil and it was him. So cute I.
- 12:09Liked him in the bathtub. When the lights went off, he was
- 12:12just in this giant bathtub. Surrounded by bubbles.
- 12:16It was kind of cute. I like that he goes home and
- 12:20gets a bubble bath. Yes yes his family was pure like
- 12:24they were so cute and I really like K BS.
- 12:30Is it KB K BS parents? Yeah.
- 12:34And I liked, I liked all of them.
- 12:35I just, there's just so many questions, so many questions.
- 12:41Yeah, I know. I feel bad.
- 12:43Like I wanna shift from being my complaints to like what I like
- 12:48about it. Well, I did.
- 12:50I did. Like it.
- 12:51It was beautiful again. Some of the cinematography is so
- 12:55good. Yeah.
- 12:56Lighting in some of those shots like on the kids faces when the
- 13:00barrier just like disintegrates and there's left staring at the
- 13:05planet. I was like, that's a beautiful
- 13:07shot. That's yeah, that's high, high
- 13:10quality shit right there. I even like the shot of Jod
- 13:14seeing the gold in the the vault where it was like the tray of
- 13:20gold right in front of him and it was very shallow depth of
- 13:24field. You couldn't see anything but
- 13:26the gold in his face and he like almost started to cry.
- 13:30That was a beautifully constructed shot.
- 13:32Also, he really was bad like he was.
- 13:36He just wanted that gold. The gold is what brought him to
- 13:41tears, not any of the humanity. Truly, truly.
- 13:45I mean, there's a well, what did you think of his Jedi back
- 13:48story? He kind of had the similar tale
- 13:51of Kanan Jaras. It was very interesting that
- 13:56that they even said anything at all.
- 13:59I'm glad they did. I'm glad they wrapped that up at
- 14:01least. Yeah, apparently he was found by
- 14:05a Jedi after Order 66 it sounded like.
- 14:10Right, right. Because he said she was ragged
- 14:13like he was, so that sounds like she was on the run.
- 14:17Oh that would make sense. So a female on the run that made
- 14:21it out of order 66 could be anybody.
- 14:25But they've murdered her in front of him, so yeah, who
- 14:28knows. I'm trying to think like
- 14:30timeline wise, the Empire exists about 18 years, right?
- 14:361819 years before Luke Skywalker comes of age, right?
- 14:40Like because it's from when they're born until A New Hope
- 14:44starts. So that's like.
- 14:45Correct. 18 years. So like if you subtract 18 years
- 14:50from JOD, he's pretty old by the time he's found.
- 14:54So did he. If we're saying that he was
- 14:57found after order 66. Yeah.
- 15:02Which maybe doesn't time out. You would think they'd make sure
- 15:06that made sense. He would be like 11 years old or
- 15:10something. How old is?
- 15:13I mean, well, we don't know what age he's supposed to be in this.
- 15:16Yeah, I mean, Jude's law, we're going on for sure, but.
- 15:19Yeah, exactly. I don't.
- 15:20Know, yeah, I don't know. I think he's pushing 50.
- 15:23I want to say he's probably going to say 40s, early 50s as
- 15:27an actor. Correct the.
- 15:29Character. Who knows?
- 15:31He can't be Obi Wan's brother now I guess.
- 15:33No Damn, another good idea wasted.
- 15:38Holy crap did that piss some people off when I posted that.
- 15:42Which is fine, I don't care. I thought it was delightful that
- 15:45it generated that much anger. Damn, just it's just a thought
- 15:50folks. Just a thought.
- 15:55Yeah, you know, everyone on not everyone, but I got, well,
- 16:00actual lead a lot, which is fine.
- 16:02I really, I knew it would piss some people off, which is fine,
- 16:05I don't care. But either way, isn't.
- 16:06That how the Internet works. Yeah.
- 16:11Isn't that like how it's run? Yeah, not by us, but.
- 16:15No, Yeah, yeah, I don't. I don't know what timeline it
- 16:19would have made. I mean even if he was found
- 16:23before Order 66. Either way he was probably not
- 16:28with the Jedi for very long before she was.
- 16:32He said they tracked her down and killed her in front of him
- 16:35so that he would know what happened to Jedi.
- 16:37Why didn't they take him? I don't know.
- 16:40Definitely not a Vader kill. He was nowhere in that vicinity,
- 16:47I I guarantee you. Yeah, I kept wondering if the
- 16:54God I can't the administrator, is that what it was called I.
- 16:57Can't remember, was the administrator?
- 16:59Yeah, maybe. Whatever the big Droid was, I
- 17:02kept thinking it was just an eyeball for like Palpatine, but
- 17:10it I don't think it was, but it could have been.
- 17:14I mean, maybe at one point, but. Yeah.
- 17:17Now the New Republic, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:21I don't know. It makes sense if you want to go
- 17:23with the theory that they had to have a Droid, that maybe if they
- 17:28had a like a actual human or some species running the planet
- 17:34full of money it would go corrupt eventually.
- 17:36So a Droid is neither. Good point.
- 17:39He's he or she is not biased like it's just a machine told
- 17:42what to do. Yeah.
- 17:44I still want the Wizard of Oz moment.
- 17:48I kept waiting. Behind the curtain is a person.
- 17:54Yeah, fun, fun fact, that was voiced by Stephen Fry, who is
- 17:58also like a pretty famous British actor.
- 18:01He was in Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law, actually.
- 18:04Oh, there you go. Oh, they could have had a nice
- 18:06little reference there. When are they going to hire us
- 18:11to write this shit? Or at least contribute to the
- 18:15writing to idiuk some collaboration?
- 18:18We're free, both of us believe us.
- 18:21Believe us when we say we will drop what we're doing currently
- 18:24to help. Yeah, send us your scripts and
- 18:28we'll just tweak them to get a little better.
- 18:31There's like, it was really good.
- 18:33I really enjoyed the show. I thought it was very
- 18:36entertaining. I was feeling emotions, you
- 18:41know, watching it, but it was it just like almost didn't really
- 18:46fully stick the landing like it was landed, but it could have
- 18:50been a level up better. Totally, totally.
- 18:54Yeah. Yep.
- 18:56I. Loved the imagery when they
- 18:58opened the ship and KB fell out with all the gold.
- 19:02Yeah, yeah. That was super cool.
- 19:05I really liked that moment. I was like, that is really
- 19:08creative. Well, not only that, but she
- 19:11fell, she was on top of it, obviously.
- 19:13So she is more valuable than all of the gold beneath her.
- 19:18And that should be the point of the show.
- 19:20Like the treasure is the people around you and who you love and
- 19:24what you do to come together and all this stuff.
- 19:26But I I did really like the final shot of Whim since it was
- 19:31all his doing I guess his story. Yeah.
- 19:36And then the final credits were his flip, his flip story, his
- 19:41little. Book.
- 19:43Yeah, Yeah. Which I thought was fabulous.
- 19:46I thought that was a great, I mean, it's very Marvel.
- 19:51But it was, it was, you know, telling a little tale and tying
- 19:56it all together with some nice and end scene credits.
- 19:59Type stuff. Yeah, well, it's like the story
- 20:01within the story that's taking place.
- 20:04I did try to research to see what those scenes were and
- 20:09there's mixed commentary. I guess that that it isn't any
- 20:14specific story, although some said it could be JAD's story.
- 20:20I actually wondered that looking at the sequence at the end.
- 20:23Now that we know JAD's story, I started to wonder if it was him
- 20:27because it was a young padawan with a female Jedi Master.
- 20:31Yeah. And yeah, I don't know, I
- 20:35wondered that. And then there was a moment
- 20:36where you could see it was the kids story.
- 20:38Yeah, yeah. Which is added to, I like the
- 20:42idea if it's going to be a story, I like it, random hero
- 20:46tales, and then theirs is added to it because they became the
- 20:49heroes of their own tale. And I think that is just lovely.
- 20:54Yeah, I loved how they all got close at the end and they were
- 20:57all good, good friends by the end in a very like, sincere way
- 21:01that didn't feel super contrived.
- 21:03It felt very natural the way that all their friendships
- 21:06developed and it was actually really rewarding to see them as
- 21:11they got closer, job became worse and worse.
- 21:13Yeah, yeah. You know, they were in inverse
- 21:17relationship. It was interesting.
- 21:20And then that's a good point. It also it put is conversation,
- 21:25JAD's conversation with Wim from the other episode in more
- 21:28perspective. When Wim was crying and JAD sat
- 21:32down and talked to him, it's like he was manipulating him.
- 21:35He was not being nice because then at the end he was so brutal
- 21:40to the kid that he starts crying.
- 21:42It was just like, oh, you are a bastard.
- 21:47Not, not a great person, although I could see why he
- 21:53would feel the way he does. It's difficult knowing what we
- 21:56know about the Jedi, what happened, what we know about the
- 22:01Empire, what happened. He's kind of in that weird
- 22:06grudge in the middle where he wanted to be accepted.
- 22:10He thought he could be something and it didn't work out.
- 22:13How many times have we seen that?
- 22:14You know, Asajj Ventress, for instance?
- 22:16They become bitter, they become disimpassioned, they become just
- 22:21some weird Gray area in the middle where they have these
- 22:24talents but they can't trust anybody.
- 22:28And if they show it, they could die and all this stuff.
- 22:31And it's really a terrible place to be.
- 22:32But there's also a lot of chance for redemption and to be a good
- 22:37person. And we see that he did not
- 22:40choose that path. He did not choose that path.
- 22:45Yeah, it was almost more like redemption for the parents
- 22:48instead of JOD. Yeah, really, Really.
- 22:50Because Oh my God, how many times did you want to slap the
- 22:53parents? Because they're doing parent
- 22:54things and being adults and like the kids are like, let's just
- 22:57act. We have to move.
- 22:59We know what's going on. And they're like, hold on a
- 23:01second. I have to try and start this
- 23:03speed bike. Like that dad is such a dad.
- 23:05I I totally get it. Like, totally, yeah.
- 23:10But you're right, it's redemption for the parents too.
- 23:15Yeah, by the end, it was, it was nice to see that even though the
- 23:18kids had disobeyed and gone off to space, that they were still,
- 23:23like, loved, and they weren't going to really get in trouble
- 23:26when they came back. Well the only people to to to
- 23:29punish them were the fucking droids.
- 23:32Yeah, for their own safety, you must be punished.
- 23:36Isn't that just what humanity tells us, right?
- 23:39Yeah, yeah, It's weirdly, Yeah. An echo chamber.
- 23:44Yeah. What I liked, by the end, you
- 23:49could see the dad's courage growing and then Fern's mother's
- 23:55courage and they ended up all working together and that was
- 23:59all the handles. It was great.
- 24:04It was really cool moment and. It was, it was a choice for the
- 24:07adults to completely erode away the thing they believed in,
- 24:11which is difficult for anyone because once you cross that,
- 24:15there's no going back. Like the thing they always
- 24:17believed in, they had to go against and trust to make it
- 24:22better. And they didn't know if it would
- 24:23get better on the other side. And that was what that all the
- 24:26hands on that lever symbolize. It's, it's the fear of the
- 24:30unknown. And and you only know one way
- 24:32and you're told this, but, you know, things could get better if
- 24:36you go against that. And that takes a lot of courage.
- 24:40But I'm speaking very generally because we could apply that to
- 24:43many instances in our lives. Oh, yeah.
- 24:46I think it's a real adult thing or with kids, young adults, to
- 24:53cross that barrier into the unknown and do something scary.
- 24:58I think that was a very innocent perspective on life cause
- 25:04history proves in general it does not get better.
- 25:08Usually in those circumstances you let outsiders in in a way,
- 25:14especially in Star Wars. You know, I kept thinking, like,
- 25:19once the pirates are down there, life is never gonna be the same.
- 25:24Because if they ever are allowed to leave again, they're going to
- 25:28tell other people. They'll give other people the
- 25:30coordinates. Somehow it's going to start
- 25:32getting out and their little bubble of safety is over.
- 25:35The minute those kids left, the safety was in jeopardy.
- 25:41And who knows if the Republic is actually going to be able to
- 25:45protect them properly. I wonder if they'll just move to
- 25:48another planet, do it all over again.
- 25:50Maybe that's what happened to the other.
- 25:52I wish we knew. Well that's what I was thinking
- 25:56too. Is like if they created the
- 25:58barrier, there's no reason they can't do it again at some point
- 26:02if need be. Why?
- 26:03Did they do? It on our.
- 26:04Planets like damn. I don't know, 'cause money is
- 26:09important, I guess. I mean, they've got this forge,
- 26:14but they don't talk about how like it.
- 26:17I won't even go down this path talking about the value of real
- 26:20money 'cause it's too boring and I couldn't care less.
- 26:23But you know, if you no one ever comes there.
- 26:29So why are they making the money?
- 26:31How are they so profitable? I don't understand.
- 26:35I have. I have a shit ton of questions.
- 26:38Yeah, I, yeah. Actually, it could be its own
- 26:41story. Seriously, the.
- 26:44Hows and why's of at at and you know?
- 26:48Yeah, like the real history of it.
- 26:50I'm curious to know more. I wouldn't be sad if they made
- 26:54more episodes. Like if they wanted to do a
- 26:56season 2, I would totally watch it.
- 26:58I'd be excited to watch it. And I enjoyed how much I got
- 27:04invested, you know, by the end. And I really liked the kids.
- 27:09I think they're such good actors.
- 27:12Hands down they get all of my respect in the world.
- 27:15Damn. Yeah, they were excellent.
- 27:18And Fern, I was feeling her anger.
- 27:21Oh my. God, so was I.
- 27:24Those looks she gave the. Snarly yeah, she's getting that.
- 27:29Yeah, it was great. I would follow her.
- 27:31I would let her pilot my ship. Yeah.
- 27:34Yeah, she's got some confidence. It's great.
- 27:37How did you feel when he took out the lightsaber and cut off
- 27:42SM 33's? Head I wasn't totally upset
- 27:45because I I was like annoyed by that Droid by the end, like him
- 27:48flipping sides and and the way he talked and the stumpy leg and
- 27:52I was just like, I'm done with this.
- 27:54Like it was a little brutal. I wasn't expecting it.
- 27:58Yeah, but I'm glad he didn't. Step on the little mouse that
- 28:03was living in the droids. You know how I am about live
- 28:07animals and live creatures. I was waiting.
- 28:10I said I'm turning this off and they didn't step.
- 28:12Thank you. Thank you for not killing the
- 28:14innocent thing that lived in his helmet.
- 28:16Damn, Give it to Neil. Neil took care of it.
- 28:20He can take. Neil took a liking to that
- 28:23little guy. It was kind of cute by the end
- 28:26how KB had it on top of her head and she was flying out to send a
- 28:31message to that to Kim the. Owl Yes, I'm glad Kim came back.
- 28:36The owl Cat the cat the feline owl of.
- 28:40Weird be there in 2 flaps. I thought that was.
- 28:43I know, I think that's cute. I really like her.
- 28:47I do too. I hope she comes back and more
- 28:49stories 'cause she was fun. So overall, what would you rate
- 28:54the series? Like out of 1010 being fabulous.
- 28:58The best, yeah. I would give it a six.
- 29:02A6. How about you?
- 29:04I would say like a 7 1/2 to an 8.
- 29:07OK. I really enjoyed it and I was
- 29:10really, really hoping for some more depth.
- 29:14I thought we were getting it. Yeah.
- 29:17I would rate it an 8 if it wasn't for the last episode not
- 29:21tying things up. Yeah, I, I, I can't deny that I
- 29:25came away feeling a little like, yeah, like I felt like there was
- 29:30more to the story and it was good.
- 29:32I really enjoyed it. They wrapped it up pretty well.
- 29:34I loved when the barrier came down and everyone saw the stars
- 29:39for the 1st. Time.
- 29:40There's a whole Galaxy out there.
- 29:42And didn't Fern say there's a lot of good people too?
- 29:46Yeah, that was very beautiful, that sentiment.
- 29:49Yeah. Yeah, and then Whim telling his
- 29:51dad that I've seen, you know, you can't Unsee what you've
- 29:54seen, you know, now that there's options and.
- 29:58I forgot to add my personal two cents on that barrier coming
- 30:02down. Did you notice wind started when
- 30:05the barrier came down and they looked up, the trees started
- 30:08rustling. I said yes, yes, weather now
- 30:10begins. The weather patterns will now
- 30:13begin. Now that there's no fucking
- 30:16protective barrier, you will now have storms.
- 30:19I'm I'm afraid to let y'all in on something.
- 30:21This is going to say put the barrier back quick.
- 30:25I don't know entirely what the thermal processes are on that
- 30:29the thermal dynamic processes are on that planet, but I did
- 30:33notice the trees started rustling.
- 30:35That means weather is starting. You know what I thought too was
- 30:39they're lucky they have an atmosphere because it's.
- 30:42Totally. And also, was it safe to live
- 30:45under an electrical barrier for your whole?
- 30:48Like what kind of diseases would that cause?
- 30:50Well shit, that's like living under a power line, right?
- 30:52They say you can't, You shouldn't live near power lines.
- 30:56We're overthinking this, God damn it.
- 30:59Well, and there's a moon. They had a moon.
- 31:01They didn't have a barriers. Down.
- 31:03They're going to have tides. Gaps apps?
- 31:06Do they have oceans? Hurricanes.
- 31:09Oh no, they're going to need a meteorologist, darn it.
- 31:16You might have to apply. OK, that was fun.
- 31:22It was fun. I liked I liked it.
- 31:24I, I, I hated the first couple of I really hated a lot of the
- 31:28like lengthy chase and screaming scenes.
- 31:32But if I fast forwarded through those, it was wasn't a bad show.
- 31:36You know what though, I'm going to be honest, I Fast forward
- 31:38that stuff in the original trilogy and the prequels and
- 31:41pretty much anywhere after you've seen everything the first
- 31:45time. That's true or for me.
- 31:48The first 100 times, after that you can start to skip around and
- 31:52like when I wear watch Return of the Jedi now.
- 31:55I only watched Luke's story. I never watched anything else.
- 32:00Hater. No, I'm just kidding.
- 32:02No. I don't I don't need to see them
- 32:06like doing the same battle that they did in New Hope again.
- 32:10I just, yeah, yeah. So, so, yeah, I think it's very
- 32:16Star Warsy, let's say. It's in keeping with the
- 32:20totally. And it's very George Lucas, very
- 32:23Spielberg to have this kind of inner cutting of action
- 32:28sequences with something super emotional going on in another
- 32:31story. So you cut back and forth
- 32:33between that. Yeah, that's that emotional
- 32:35space. So 6 out of 10 for me and seven
- 32:39and a half did you say? Yeah, 7 1/2 for me, not bad.
- 32:43I would watch it again for sure, especially if there's a season 2
- 32:46out of rewatch. I think that would be a lot of
- 32:49stuff to go back and like nitty gritty, look for Easter eggs and
- 32:54stuff like that. I bet there's a lot hidden in
- 32:56this show. I was just, I mean, our episodes
- 33:00have been more about like reactions and less about deep
- 33:04diving, but we don't need to do that now.
- 33:07We'll save that for Andor. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 33:10Which we should do a rewatch of that because that's coming out
- 33:13in a couple months. So yeah, yeah, can't wait for
- 33:16that. It's going to destroy me.
- 33:18I'm going to be destroyed. You're going to bury me.
- 33:22Don't bury me, Viking. Funeral Me.
- 33:24Viking funeral. This woman, Yes.
- 33:28You know my wishes. Yes, and we will honor them and
- 33:33you all know mine. We'll try and make it happen for
- 33:37you, Leanne. We'll do our best.
- 33:39I appreciate that you're a good friend.
- 33:48OK, our question for you, what are your thoughts now that
- 33:52skeleton crews over, what are your general thoughts on it?
- 33:54How did you feel about the show? Did you like it?
- 33:57How would you rate it out of 10? You know we gave our ratings now
- 34:01you give us yours. I would love we would love to
- 34:04hear your thoughts. And our next episode, we're
- 34:09going back to Obi Wan because we.
- 34:12Hell yes. We we've been on vacation from
- 34:14Obi Wan and you know, with good purpose for good reason.
- 34:18We had skeleton crew, but we got to go back to the man himself.
- 34:22So our next episode is we're just going to talk about our
- 34:26favorite moments from the Kenobi series.
- 34:28Because while Lauren and I have actually done reviews of every
- 34:33single Kenobi episode, we haven't really talked about the
- 34:36nuanced moments that made us really fall in love with him as
- 34:40the character all over again that happened in those episodes.
- 34:43So that's what we're going to discuss.
- 34:45Join us back here and just fall in love all over again with us
- 34:49because that's what we do here. All right, And our last episode
- 34:56we asked a totally random question and I have never
- 35:01received this much feedback. Yes, yes, it's.
- 35:06Crazy people loved this stupid question.
- 35:12I can't wait to hear what they wrote in with.
- 35:15So we asked what was Obi Wan Kenobi's favorite kind of pie?
- 35:21Something I have forgotten is American Pie is very different
- 35:25than pie everywhere. Oh shit, you're right.
- 35:28Oh no. Oh damn, okay.
- 35:32Pie has existed for a long time, like since Egyptian times, but
- 35:36in America is where we started, like doing fruit pies.
- 35:39Right. Yeah, sweet.
- 35:40Like sweet dessert pies. That's kind of more the America
- 35:44thing. Everywhere else.
- 35:45Yes, they have it now, but now they do.
- 35:47Slavery. Meat.
- 35:48Pie. Yes.
- 35:51Well, what did somebody mention what kind of meat pie he might
- 35:55like? I'm curious.
- 35:57Yeah, yeah, I if there was a kidney pie, I think someone
- 36:01said, oh Lord, someone said a shepherd's pie, but that
- 36:05technically that's that's not really a pie.
- 36:07I fucking. Love shepherd's pie?
- 36:10I do too. I make it all the time.
- 36:11But it doesn't have a pie crust, so it doesn't America, it kind
- 36:14of doesn't qualify. It's a real point.
- 36:16We didn't give specifications that needed a pie crust.
- 36:19I guess we're doing. That true.
- 36:21It's true. We didn't narrow it down, but
- 36:24stay tuned because we had an actual Obi Wan respond.
- 36:29Yes, he he thought. But we'll miss that in a minute.
- 36:32Yes, yes, yes. Bettina said.
- 36:36Seriously. What kind of question is that?
- 36:37Cinnamon rolls, of course. Bettina.
- 36:46No, no cinnamon rolls. That's funny.
- 36:52If you wonder why we're so upset, just find our episode by
- 36:56about why OB 1 is not a cinnamon bun anyway, OK?
- 37:02Kevin said. Warm apple pie with a slice of
- 37:04cheddar and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
- 37:07It's the only civilized answer. That's a pretty good civilized
- 37:10answer. Yeah, we got a lot of apple with
- 37:13cheddar or I saw that a few times.
- 37:15Apple with OK vanilla ice cream. Yum.
- 37:19Let's see, let's see. Gayle said.
- 37:22Strawberry pie because his because his hair smells like
- 37:27strawberries, according to Tumblr.
- 37:33I like this GAIL. I love it all.
- 37:41Right, James Arnold, Taylor says.
- 37:43What did the man say himself? He said Apple alamode warm with
- 37:50warm with the vanilla ice cream melting over the top.
- 37:53One Piece Bad Day with Anakin 2 3/4 and an extra scoop of ice
- 37:59cream. I called it.
- 38:04He's eaten more if it's a bad day with that again.
- 38:10Oh, James, thank you. It's good to have the authority.
- 38:14He's he is the authority. Like he would know he's been in
- 38:17the character's head for a long time.
- 38:19Yeah, I think his his answer's qualified.
- 38:22That's listen. Oh, with the ice cream melting
- 38:24on top is the best the best. Right.
- 38:27I've had some people say that they didn't think Obi Wan would
- 38:30eat a whole pie and I I just can't agree with that.
- 38:34I think that he would eat a whole pie standing up like over
- 38:37the sink like. That's what I'm thinking.
- 38:40Super stressed he has to take it out some way because he can't
- 38:42nap. Exactly, and he's super fit so
- 38:45he's not even going to like his body's not even going to
- 38:48recognize calories. We don't know her.
- 38:53We're envious of this man. Yeah, right, Kenobi Wolf said.
- 39:00Apple pie with vanilla ice cream got to be the reliable apple pie
- 39:03with just a bit of ice cream to make it not boring.
- 39:05Like, I think a lot of people got the sense of the apple pie.
- 39:09Yeah, yeah. Did anyone say pecan or pecan
- 39:13depending? No.
- 39:15So I'm the only interesting I. Think you are like well people
- 39:20might not think of that. Like no one mentioned pumpkin
- 39:23pie at all. Which?
- 39:25I don't. I don't fancy ham.
- 39:26A pumpkin pie eater? No.
- 39:27I don't either, No. Apple hazelnut pie was the
- 39:31closest we got, Tara said. Apple hazelnut pie with brown
- 39:34sugar on the crust with a side of ice cream and some coffee.
- 39:38Yes, that's civilized. A bit boozy, like if Anakin.
- 39:43Oh yeah, the yeah, the coffee would have Kahlua or Bailey's in
- 39:47it for sure. Oh my goodness, so yes, we and
- 39:54these are just a few. We got lots, lots more.
- 39:57That's amazing stuff there for now, but thank you to everybody.
- 40:00I also got like private messages DMS that's.
- 40:04Incredible. That's pretty spectacular.
- 40:07And of course, thanks to James Arnold Taylor for telling us
- 40:09what he thinks Obi Wan would would eat.
- 40:13So thank. You, I tagged him.
- 40:15I'm like, we need to know. We have to know.
- 40:21Didn't he say in our interview that his special Jedi power
- 40:26would be being able to make the perfect meal for anyone like
- 40:31Willy Wonka? Oh no.
- 40:36Now what kind of chocolate could be our next?
- 40:39Stay tuned, We'll come. We'll come up with something
- 40:41else some other time. 11 sweet confectionery thing at a time.
- 40:48Yeah, thank you. Thank you to everyone for
- 40:53writing and we really enjoyed it.
