- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time for Stacks and Hacks. I have stacks of information.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Rich has life hacks. Remember I was telling you guys
- 0:05Speaker 1: about things that have a definition and we didn't know
- 0:08Speaker 1: about the word, the hashtag.
- 0:10Speaker 2: What's that called again?
- 0:10Speaker 3: It's a.
- 0:11Speaker 4: Ampersand?
- 0:12Speaker 3: No, it's a... Something with an H.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Horticulture. No, it's a.
- 0:16Speaker 2: It's got a weird name. I can't remember.
- 0:17Speaker 5: Horoscope.
- 0:18Speaker 3: It's a.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Something with an H.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Either way, there's something else. You know that little piece
- 0:21Speaker 1: of paper sticking out of a Hershey's Kiss?
- 0:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that actually has a name. It's called a plume.
- 0:27Speaker 1: It was added in 1921 as a flag for the
- 0:30Speaker 1: brand to separate kisses from the other competitors' products.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It is pretty cute. A plume. A plume. A plume.
- 0:36Speaker 1: There's a silly social media post, but I want you
- 0:38Speaker 1: to think about it for a second. Would you let
- 0:41Speaker 1: a hungry vampire suck your blood, assuming you wouldn't die
- 0:44Speaker 1: or turn into a vampire?
- 0:45Speaker 5: Yeah, if it was Michael B.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Jordan's version, yes. I was like, kind of depends on
- 0:48Speaker 2: the vampire, I guess.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Like when he turns into a vampire at the end
- 0:51Speaker 5: of Sinners?
- 0:51Speaker 1: 58% of people say they'd be okay with it. If
- 0:54Speaker 1: you think about it, you're just letting them get their nutrition,
- 0:58Speaker 1: but I bet you it would kind of feel good.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Ouch.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I mean, let's say you had to get rid of
- 1:01Speaker 3: some blood anyway because you got high iron.
- 1:03Speaker 5: I'm like, have we never seen Twilight? Because that was
- 1:05Speaker 5: really aggressive when Edward made Bella a vampire.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And she was in a lot of pain. You're not
- 1:10Speaker 2: being turned into a vampire.
- 1:12Speaker 1: According to this test, you're not being turned into a
- 1:14Speaker 1: vampire and you're not going to die.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So I think it would kind of feel good.
- 1:18Speaker 5: It would depend on the vamp.
- 1:20Speaker 1: New study looked into the cost of social life across
- 1:22Speaker 1: the continental U.S., like going to clubs and everything.
- 1:25Speaker 2: The most expensive place, most expensive city. New York City.
- 1:28Speaker 1: New York City. The least expensive is somewhere, anywhere in
- 1:31Speaker 1: South Dakota. Do they have clubs there?
- 1:34Speaker 5: There's not much around.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Did you guys hear about the Mr. England beauty pageant?
- 1:39Speaker 5: No.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Okay, so there was one where they're going to crown
- 1:42Speaker 1: a winner who's the best looking man in England. And
- 1:44Speaker 1: they had to cancel it, move it, because there's a
- 1:46Speaker 1: national hunk shortage. They couldn't find any good looking guys
- 1:50Speaker 1: to participate, so.
- 1:51Speaker 2: They're moving it for five weeks from now.
- 1:52Speaker 4: How sad.
- 1:54Speaker 1: There's a wellness trend going around TikTok called floor time.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Have you seen this yet?
- 1:57Speaker 5: Is this just where you lay on the floor?
- 1:59Speaker 2: The idea is pretty simple.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You spend a few minutes sitting or lying on the
- 2:02Speaker 1: floor to give yourself a chance to slow down, stretch,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and let go of some stress.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I do that all the time. You do? Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: BuzzFeed has a list of horrific standards that have become
- 2:12Speaker 1: normal even though they're messed up. It includes stuff like overworking,
- 2:17Speaker 1: rudeness and bullying, ghosting people, and looking at your phone
- 2:20Speaker 1: while driving.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Kind of makes sense.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Think about that.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Especially the last one. Don't want to do that.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You don't want to do that, but it's something that
- 2:26Speaker 2: happens all the time.
- 2:27Speaker 3: It's hard. It's hard not to do.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but it is.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Lazy Gen Zers online are looking for jobs that pay
- 2:36Speaker 1: the most for doing the least amount of work.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Well, this is helpful. What are they? We want to
- 2:41Speaker 3: know about that.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Real estate agents, politicians, middle management and tech sales are
- 2:48Speaker 1: the top.
- 2:48Speaker 5: You know what I don't love was the beginning of
- 2:51Speaker 5: that title, like lazy Gen Z workers trying to find
- 2:54Speaker 5: more higher paying job. To me, I'm like, you're just
- 2:57Speaker 5: thinking a little bit more logically. Like, I want to
- 3:00Speaker 5: go and think ahead to go find a gig that
- 3:02Speaker 5: doesn't have as much work, but more pay.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I don't think that's lazy.
- 3:05Speaker 5: I think it's smart and innovative.
- 3:08Speaker 2: It's probably called life maxing. Get a job in something
- 3:10Speaker 2: you really, really love to do.
- 3:12Speaker 5: But sometimes things don't really pay well when you really,
- 3:14Speaker 5: really love it. And have you seen the economy lately?
- 3:16Speaker 5: It sucks.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it's bad.
- 3:18Speaker 1: By the way, speaking of politicians, one of them, I
- 3:21Speaker 1: heard this political campaign ad slamming somebody running for governor.
- 3:25Speaker 1: And I thought this person must be a good governor
- 3:27Speaker 1: because I thought the slam was lame.
- 3:30Speaker 3: They care about people.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Dude, it was like, it was like, I think it
- 3:34Speaker 2: was for the current governor.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Like Katie Hobbs was a professional, was a Katie Hobbs
- 3:39Speaker 1: was a professor at the university.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And then it cut to who someone complained about her.
- 3:43Speaker 2: She said like, um, a whole bunch of times. That's it. Um,
- 3:47Speaker 2: she says, um, a lot like who doesn't say, um,
- 3:50Speaker 2: a lot. You have to, we even came up with
- 3:52Speaker 2: a game called the um game. All right.
- 3:54Speaker 1: How many times can you, can you talk about a
- 3:56Speaker 1: subject for 60 seconds without saying the word?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Um, you can't, it's impossible.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Like if that's the slam keeper in office, now I'm
- 4:02Speaker 1: going to have everybody being all pissed off me.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Don't get political.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I'm not political.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Couple in Idaho were on their way to a wedding
- 4:09Speaker 1: and there was a highway closure that delay. They were
- 4:12Speaker 1: the ones getting married. So two strangers stepped in to
- 4:15Speaker 1: make sure they got to the ceremony in time. One
- 4:17Speaker 1: of the strangers had enough room on his small dirt
- 4:19Speaker 1: bike to put the groom on it. And then they
- 4:22Speaker 1: waved down a woman on an ATV and they put the.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Bride on it.
- 4:25Speaker 3: The guy had the ride on the back of a motorcycle?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but this is the way he pitched it.
- 4:29Speaker 3: He's asking, hey, do you know how long this closure
- 4:32Speaker 3: is going to be? I've got to get to my
- 4:33Speaker 3: wedding in an hour.
- 4:34Speaker 2: We're not going to be able to get through with
- 4:36Speaker 2: the vehicles, but.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I'm going to get you to your wedding. It's not
- 4:39Speaker 3: a two-seater, right?
- 4:40Speaker 2: It's a very small electric bike.
- 4:42Speaker 3: And you're going to hold me and hug me like
- 4:44Speaker 3: that scene in Dumb and Dumber with Harry and Lloyd.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You know, everything happens for a reason.
- 4:49Speaker 5: God, man, yeah. Sorry.
- 4:52Speaker 3: They'll take those bumps in the road, and they'll put
- 4:55Speaker 3: a smile on their face, and.
- 4:56Speaker 5: They'll get through it together.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And I think that that's—I'm.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Just really happy that I got to experience that.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Isn't that nice?
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Restores your faith in humanity.
- 5:07Speaker 2: What do you have for life hacks, Rich?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Okay, so I'm going to tell you how to survive
- 5:10Speaker 4: a haunted house. I don't think people here really, besides Peyton.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Like haunted houses. I love a good haunted house. I
- 5:15Speaker 3: know Kyle hates a haunted house. And I know John Jay.
- 5:17Speaker 1: No, she won't go with me.
- 5:18Speaker 3: She keeps hurting me down. More haunted house for you.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I can tell you how to survive, Kyle. There's two
- 5:23Speaker 4: big things. One, don't make eye contact ever. Haunted house actors,
- 5:27Speaker 4: they like a big reaction. So if you look terrified
- 5:30Speaker 4: and you're an easy target... Keep a straight face. Look
- 5:32Speaker 4: past them. Keep walking. But here's the most important thing.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Do not be the first in line. Do not be
- 5:38Speaker 4: the last in line. You want to be in the
- 5:40Speaker 4: middle of your group. The actors are the scary people
- 5:44Speaker 4: in The Haunted House. They always go after the person
- 5:46Speaker 4: leading the pack or the poor soul bringing up the rear.
- 5:50Speaker 4: So if you follow those... You will survive haunted house season.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Can I add to your hack?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Okay, so if you do like haunted houses and you
- 5:57Speaker 5: really want to be scared, you only go in by
- 6:00Speaker 5: yourself or with an extra person.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Because when you have a whole big group, they all
- 6:03Speaker 3: ruin it.
- 6:03Speaker 5: They all ruin it because everyone can see them coming
- 6:05Speaker 5: up from the left and the right.
- 6:07Speaker 2: So go in a duo. Don't go in a big group.
- 6:10Speaker 4: That's a different sort of life hack if somebody wants
- 6:12Speaker 4: the full experience. That life hack and many more can
- 6:15Speaker 4: be found at johnjandrich.com.
