- 0:06What's going on guys? Welcome back to the Aspy world.
- 0:08My name is Dan. I have autism, ADHDOCD and
- 0:11dyslexia and I make weekly videos all about this stuff.

- 0:26OK, so autism routines, all sort of friendly routines.
- 0:30Why this video is apparent and and why do I deal with autistic
- 0:35adults but wants autistic children?
- 0:37Autistic children love routine. We know this.
- 0:39But as we get older, it's kind of like a lot of people tend to
- 0:43feel like, you know, they don't talk about routines and they
- 0:47don't know, you know what to do. And they've say like routines
- 0:51and following routines is more of a child thing.
- 0:53And there's a big speculation over it.
- 0:54And a lot of kind of like, yeah, I have routines, but they're not
- 0:57kind of, you know, helpful. They're more like OCD.
- 0:59And so I want us to actually put in place 5 routines that you can
- 1:04implement to help you increase potential in your life.
- 1:07But why? Why would this increase
- 1:09potential for autistic individuals?
- 1:10Well, when we have routines in place, actually lowers a bunch
- 1:13of choice and decision fatigue. It lowers the ability for you to
- 1:18kind of get too burnt out because what happens is when you
- 1:21have a routine, you actually have access to dopamine.
- 1:23Dopamine is awesome and it helps you feel good and helps you feel
- 1:26more relaxed. And also this will overall
- 1:27benefit your entire life. So buckle up, lock in.
- 1:30And by the way, if you want to learn more about being confident
- 1:33and autistic, I have a free program you download completely
- 1:35free. Just go to
- 1:36www.bulletproofbrain.org right now.
- 1:39Totally free links down below. Let's go again.
- 1:42First of all, having a fixed start and end time to your day
- 1:46makes a hell of a difference. So like wake up and sleep time
- 1:49are the same every single day. This does so much for regulation
- 1:52of not just your mental and neurological kind of the health,
- 1:55but in terms of your actual physical health, your body will
- 1:59reward you. So I would say is that even on
- 2:01weekends, try and keep to a stable pattern of OK, I go to
- 2:04bed at this time and I try and wake up at this time.
- 2:08This will help stabilize, lower your mood and your focus.
- 2:11And within 7 to 14 days, you'll feel way more like that.
- 2:15You'll get so much out of just that one.
- 2:16That routine alone is worth watching this video.
- 2:20Now what's interesting about it is I understand that people have
- 2:22kids and different kind of responsibilities.
- 2:24So what I would say is try to find a routine that makes sense
- 2:28for you. So maybe it's like 3 or 4 days
- 2:29I've got about it this time, wake up this time and then the
- 2:31others I do this. So it can vary, but as long as
- 2:34it's a routine that you stick to.
- 2:37OK, so let me see what's having an anchored morning routine.
- 2:39Now, when you wake up in the morning, however, we just like
- 2:41roll out of bed and then they worry and they kind of like they
- 2:44rush around. They're like, oh, I need this
- 2:45for my bag. And then, ah, where's my tie?
- 2:47I can't find the other shoe. And it's all chaos, right?
- 2:50And that's not what you want, but you actually want is ease
- 2:53where you wake up in the morning and you grab the things that you
- 2:55need because you already prepared them.
- 2:58So basically do the same three things when you wake up every
- 3:01single day, right? And so that is kind of like you
- 3:03wake up, you drink water, you wash your face off a shower, and
- 3:07then you look at the review of the day, like, where am I going
- 3:11to be doing it today? Because if you're waking up in a
- 3:14crazy mindset where you're like running around and trying to get
- 3:18everything sorted, it, it's never going to happen.
- 3:20So you prep the stuff the night before.
- 3:23So you pack your bags out before, get your shoes ready,
- 3:24get all your clothes ready. And then in the morning, rather
- 3:27than worry and rush around and get all that kind of like
- 3:29anxiety, but literally just do simple things like drink water,
- 3:34eat breakfast, have a shower, look at what I'm going to do
- 3:36today and execute it because all the restaurant stuff you've
- 3:39taken care of the night before. So the next one is time blocking
- 3:44periods. Now what's interesting is we as
- 3:49a testing individuals, some of them ADHD as well.
- 3:51I want to do everything all at once or we'll get hyper focus on
- 3:54this thing and it will change to another thing.
- 3:56And then we have loads of little bits of things all done like
- 3:58half junk cans of stuff all over, but like you'll have half
- 4:01cans of, you know, juice or stuff all over the place.
- 4:05We never get to finish a lot of these things.
- 4:07So what I would say to do is that you create using this is
- 4:10the loop timer. I highly recommend it.
- 4:11It's actually made for neurodivision individuals who
- 4:13are adults, right? I mean, kids can use it as well,
- 4:15but it's such a cool one. Like why not?
- 4:18This is made by loop timer. The guy Cody sent me this
- 4:20Awesome. If you want 20% off, I have a
- 4:23link in this video for you. You just go to the description
- 4:26down here or go to the link in my bio.
- 4:28You'll be able to find loop timer there.
- 4:29But anyway, and anything I talk about, always be in the
- 4:32description or pin to a comment on Facebook.
- 4:35This timer, you can block it off for like 20 minutes and then do
- 4:39work in 20 minute or 25 minute spurt and then take 5 minute
- 4:43break because it's important to stay on track with these things.
- 4:46And if you have a visual timer telling you, oh, we're counting
- 4:48down now and it seems super aesthetic and it's magnetic.
- 4:51It's like sticks to stuff. It's awesome.
- 4:53And when you have that, you're sending out the time, you say,
- 4:56OK, well, this is the time that I'm going to be working and then
- 4:59this is the time that I'm going to have a little bit of rest or
- 5:01brain rest, right? Right.
- 5:03And then if you have 4 arms and a stop, it helps increase your
- 5:07productivity and also protects your focus and your and your
- 5:10entire kind of burnout exposure reduces dramatically because
- 5:15you're actually putting specific times onto the tasks that you're
- 5:19doing that you have to do because we all have tasks to do,
- 5:21right? OK, so the next one is daily
- 5:24sensory reset. Now this is really interesting.
- 5:26It could look like many different things.
- 5:28OK, daily sensory reset could be, oh, I'm taking, you know, 5
- 5:32minutes to have a walk, XY or Z time in the day.
- 5:37But what you need to do is schedule time with a reset
- 5:39window so that you have no demands, no talking, no social
- 5:42media, low light, maybe even have like noise cuts and
- 5:47headphones like these ones. I recommend the Apple Airpod
- 5:49ones. I'll link them again down below.
- 5:51So if you want these, you can you can check them out.
- 5:53But just have that little like break from all input just to
- 5:57kind of have a little bit of nervous system reset.
- 5:59And it will help you so much because I'll actually reduce the
- 6:02overload on the nervous system because you're allowing yourself
- 6:05that time to just have that reset.
- 6:07You know what I mean? OK, this is probably the next
- 6:09one and the last one number 5 is the most important one.
- 6:12And I did this and I practiced loads of different things to get
- 6:15this right over many a years, especially during COVID is
- 6:17always crazy. This is an evening wind down
- 6:19routine. This is so important and it's
- 6:22important for many things. You know, repeating these same
- 6:25steps every night as you're down, like you know, you'll slow
- 6:28down period before you go to bed is going to help you have a
- 6:30better sleep, lower anxiety and reduce kind of like nightmare of
- 6:34like waking up worrying about stuff.
- 6:35And this is basically you have a routine at night where you
- 6:38listen to like calming slow music or you listen to something
- 6:42very like ambient then or maybe just silence everything in the
- 6:45same order. You maybe light a candle, maybe
- 6:48you lower the lights, Maybe you're watching like ATV show.
- 6:50It's not going to calm me. But this is actually something
- 6:52that helped me a lot is these are blue light blocker glasses,
- 6:55right? And these things, I think I got
- 6:57these from like Teamview. I'll link these exact ones if
- 6:59you're interested. If you guys use Teamview, I
- 7:00don't know if you do, but if you do, you see me, I'll link you to
- 7:03these in the description down below.
- 7:04But in terms of these, these blue eyeglasses, they stop all
- 7:09of the, the Blu rays that are coming in from your iPhone or
- 7:12your iPad or your, or your computer screen or your laptop
- 7:14or whatever. And the TV, I suppose because
- 7:17those blue light that the LED's gave off all the screens give
- 7:20off actually not good for you when you're trying to sleep.
- 7:25They're actually stimulating wakefulness in you.
- 7:27And so at night time, I make sure that I wear these.
- 7:30I go, OK, well, it's 7:00. I need to wear my blue eye
- 7:33glasses. And so you'll see me wearing
- 7:34these in in some photos and some things because I'm like blue
- 7:37eyeglasses is part of my calm down and relaxation routine.
- 7:41That means you can still use your iPhone or your iPad, but
- 7:44you're going to calm down a little bit because it stops the
- 7:47light that keeps you kind of wakefulness.
- 7:49There is a setting on your iPhone, on your iPad and I think
- 7:52on if you're using like a MacBook or an iMac as well.
- 7:55It's called like night shift and it changes the light to more of
- 8:00a Sapia and you can turn this on for automatic so that like 8:00
- 8:05at night till 8:00 in the morning changes your phone
- 8:07setting to a Sapios setting because sometimes we got enough
- 8:09with kids at night. Sometimes you need to pee.
- 8:11I don't know you're getting up and doing all those things now.
- 8:13I highly recommend checking these out because like if you do
- 8:16these routines, if you write this all out and follow it to to
- 8:19a tee, I can guarantee that within two weeks of you
- 8:22following this, you're going to feel like a different person.
- 8:24Let me know your comments down below.
- 8:25Give this video a thumbs up and share if you think it can help
- 8:27somebody else. We'll see you in the next one
- 8:28guys. Peace.
