- 0:03Speaker 1: We're back. It's been a minute. You miss the day,
- 0:06Speaker 1: you missed the world. You miss technically four days of games.
- 0:11Speaker 1: You feel like you miss a month. Last show for
- 0:15Speaker 1: us was Friday afternoon. There's been four games for most
- 0:18Speaker 1: teams since then. Here we are, But you know what's
- 0:21Speaker 1: most important that we have to hit at the top.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You love this. How do you brush your.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Teeth with the toothbrush and okay, toothpaste, okay.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Like a normal person.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I put it directly on toothpaste, directly on the toothbrush,
- 0:41Speaker 4: and my toothpaste is not messy at all. That is disgusting.
- 0:44Speaker 4: You should never have a messy toothpaste. Whatever tube, What
- 0:50Speaker 4: am I missing here?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Did you not see this?
- 0:52Speaker 2: No? What am I missing?
- 0:54Speaker 1: Going through it?
- 0:56Speaker 3: I've never seen this.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Bryce Harper putting toothpaste in his mouth and then he
- 1:07Speaker 1: gets involved with the toothbrush after that.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I choose, Hey, whatever, everyone does things a little bit differently.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I've never seen that, but hey, whatever, whatever you like
- 1:16Speaker 2: to do, whatever it gets you clicks, buddy, I've never
- 1:20Speaker 2: seen I never even heard of that. Before. I had.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Roommates in the minor leagues. You get some weird stuff.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I had a roommate that always had to brush his tongue,
- 1:34Speaker 4: and he was like, it wasn't didn't feel like his
- 1:37Speaker 4: tongue was clean until he was gagged on it, So.
- 1:42Speaker 1: He always really went after it.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Always hear it. It was terrible. I'm like, really, every day,
- 1:48Speaker 4: every morning, every night.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Do you know there's a way to brush your tongue
- 1:51Speaker 1: without gagging. I mean, it's probably too late for you
- 1:54Speaker 1: to tell your minor league roommate. But he didn't have
- 1:56Speaker 1: to really get crazy there anyway. I've never seen that either.
- 2:02Speaker 1: That's why I wanted to show it to you.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's a new one. Hey, whatever works for Bryce. He's
- 2:06Speaker 2: been hot, so maybe it worked. Maybe that was a secret.
- 2:10Speaker 4: If you're playing, If you're playing and you see somebody
- 2:13Speaker 4: do that and you're like, man, I kind of want
- 2:14Speaker 4: to hit like Bryce, you try it once, tell me,
- 2:17Speaker 4: tell me you wouldn't you try it once and be like,
- 2:19Speaker 4: of course, I'll brush my teeth like that. Let's let's see,
- 2:22Speaker 4: let's see how it goes. Three for four. I'm back
- 2:25Speaker 4: out there. What's the score.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. Dentists across the Pennsylvania area are
- 2:31Speaker 1: thrilled with the performance of Harper there will be many
- 2:34Speaker 1: kids that will probably brush their teeth wrong or like
- 2:37Speaker 1: swath toothpaste before brushing. That will lead to cavities, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: that will lead to action.
- 2:43Speaker 2: What is the right way? Does anyone know what the
- 2:44Speaker 2: right way is?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Just put it on the tooth brush?
- 2:47Speaker 2: And who says that's the right way? Though?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well no, I mean technically there's no right way or
- 2:51Speaker 1: wrong way to do anything.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:52Speaker 1: We're all just cells, yeah forgetting that deep.
- 2:55Speaker 4: We all just do what makes us feel good, right,
- 2:58Speaker 4: I mean, isn't it too it? Don't you have to
- 3:00Speaker 4: do brush your teeth for at least two minutes? That's
- 3:02Speaker 4: that's the like minimums, that's the standard.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, the two minutes is the standard.
- 3:08Speaker 4: So it's just shocking to me how many kids in
- 3:10Speaker 4: high school don't brush their teeth, by the way, shocking.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Like, what do you mean, don't brush their teeth at all?
- 3:16Speaker 1: There's no way they do every day without it, or
- 3:18Speaker 1: they just don't do it often.
- 3:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It's like it's one of those things where I'm.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Like, oh, what, like you see like see extra plaque
- 3:27Speaker 4: on there, and I'm like, what, how is that possible?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Like there's more than more than one day, and they're
- 3:32Speaker 4: putting like cologne on, perfume on, and I'm like, your
- 3:36Speaker 4: your your mess, your your tongue smells like your or
- 3:39Speaker 4: your your breast smells.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Are your tongue farted like.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Crazy?
- 3:45Speaker 1: You gotta do some hygiene checks with coach krats. But
- 3:49Speaker 1: all right, let's get to biss. Let's start. This was unlikely.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Who had the Astros with the first no hitter since
- 4:00Speaker 1: twenty twenty four on their bingo card? The team that
- 4:02Speaker 1: has not pitched well with the starting pitcher who has
- 4:05Speaker 1: not adjusted yet to the major leagues. Boom, tatsu am
- 4:09Speaker 1: I to Steven Okert to Sanna.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Uh I watch this game. I mean it looked like
- 4:17Speaker 2: the Rangers are going to score about ten runs in
- 4:19Speaker 2: the first inning, and they didn't score any And then
- 4:22Speaker 2: you look up and all of a sudden, it's a
- 4:24Speaker 2: it's a combined no hitter. Listen, no hitters are cool,
- 4:26Speaker 2: but combined to me just doesn't have the same panache
- 4:31Speaker 2: as a real no hitter does. Where a pitcher throws
- 4:35Speaker 2: nine innings, it's cool, congratulate that's for seemed to do
- 4:39Speaker 2: this a lot, But I just think it's so much
- 4:42Speaker 2: cooler when one pitcher can throw, actually throw nine innings
- 4:45Speaker 2: and throw a no hitter. That's why we haven't seen
- 4:46Speaker 2: any in forever is because no pitcher can even make
- 4:48Speaker 2: it nine innings anymore.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I agree with you one, I think everyone does. The
- 4:53Speaker 1: part that was cooler to me is at least you
- 4:55Speaker 1: have a guy making his major league debut. Yeah, he
- 4:57Speaker 1: gets to close.
- 4:58Speaker 2: He was nasty too, Yeah, a cutter thing he was
- 5:00Speaker 2: doing was nasty, and the Rangers had no chance. Do
- 5:03Speaker 2: you know, zero chance?
- 5:05Speaker 1: They did not.
- 5:06Speaker 2: They could have played that game for seven more innings
- 5:07Speaker 2: and they wouldn't got to hit.
- 5:09Speaker 1: They were so God look at that chunk of history
- 5:12Speaker 1: from Sarah Lang. See, that's a good one for me.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Sometimes the trivia stats go over my head. That one
- 5:17Speaker 1: ran right through it. Bumpus Jones of the Reds on
- 5:21Speaker 1: October fifteenth of eighteen ninety two through a no no
- 5:25Speaker 1: all on his own. He's the only other dude to
- 5:28Speaker 1: be involved in a no hitter in his major league
- 5:30Speaker 1: debut besides Santa.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It's pretty cool, that's what. Listen. No hitters are cool.
- 5:36Speaker 2: They're so random, so anyone will say, oh, they had
- 5:39Speaker 2: the worst er in baseball. I mean, listen, no hitters
- 5:43Speaker 2: are so random. It's just a random occurrence in the universe.
- 5:45Speaker 2: It just happened to happen. Everything lined up that day.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I mean, Phil Humber through a perfect game and that
- 5:51Speaker 2: was the one thing that people remember about his entire career,
- 5:53Speaker 2: because the rest of his career had like a five
- 5:55Speaker 2: and a half era. But they're just where every the
- 5:58Speaker 2: stars all lined, the moon aligns, every thing of lines,
- 6:01Speaker 2: and it happens. And last night for the Astros, everything aligned,
- 6:04Speaker 2: including the Rangers that were just wow. They had some
- 6:07Speaker 2: not good at bats too.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Is your point that you do have to pitch well, right,
- 6:11Speaker 5: you do, but also you have to get you have
- 6:12Speaker 5: to be extraordinarily lucky, yes, and you need your defense
- 6:17Speaker 5: behind you to most of the time make some really
- 6:19Speaker 5: nice plays, which we saw yesterday from a number of guys,
- 6:22Speaker 5: right Paratus Pina, uh Myers.
- 6:27Speaker 1: The Astros defense showed up yesterday.
- 6:29Speaker 2: They did, and it helps. But still you still got
- 6:31Speaker 2: to be so lucky. It's it's it's pure luck. That's
- 6:34Speaker 2: why they you know, look at the list of people
- 6:35Speaker 2: who have never thrown in no hitter. There's a lot
- 6:38Speaker 2: of Hall of Famers and really good pitchers that never
- 6:39Speaker 2: threw one.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And they put together performances where you'd think they could
- 6:44Speaker 1: pull it off in one little knock.
- 6:46Speaker 2: And the perfect game was it. Carl Ever might be
- 6:48Speaker 2: seen in two thirds of Fenway, or you just bloop
- 6:50Speaker 2: one over the short something. I mean, stuff like that
- 6:52Speaker 2: happens mm hm.
- 6:55Speaker 4: And the Rangers many Why can the Rangers not hit
- 6:57Speaker 4: at home by the way, I mean, there's there's something there.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But I also have to say, Bumpus Jones I'm always
- 7:03Speaker 4: jealous of, like the early nineteen hundreds and eighteen hundred
- 7:05Speaker 4: baseball players. It's like, you know, obviously shoeless Joe Jackson,
- 7:09Speaker 4: Bumpus Jones, like Jimmy the Jimmy the Jet. They always
- 7:14Speaker 4: had cool names. I mean Alimber Santa. Alimber said, We're
- 7:19Speaker 4: gonna go one hundred years from now foul Territory. On
- 7:22Speaker 4: hundred year anniversary, They're gonna go back and be like, wow,
- 7:25Speaker 4: Krat's got to say the name Alimber Santa. Why can't
- 7:28Speaker 4: we have cool names like Alimber Santa.
- 7:32Speaker 1: You think you think yours are? Now the names are
- 7:34Speaker 1: gonna get more boring.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like our names are way more
- 7:39Speaker 4: boring than Bumpus Jones Floyd Carlson, like, we don't we
- 7:46Speaker 4: don't have those. We don't have Cool Stream, Cool Papa Bell. Yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 4: there's some cool names. But anyway, the Rangers at Home,
- 7:54Speaker 4: it's what I first originally said, The Rangers at home.
- 7:57Speaker 4: There's something going on. Maybe they got a that is
- 8:01Speaker 4: cock eyed and they can't hit there. But they're not
- 8:04Speaker 4: bad on the road, Like their numbers are fine on
- 8:07Speaker 4: the road, but hitting at home. There is something about
- 8:10Speaker 4: Globe Life Park.

- 9:10Speaker 1: d O N dot com code f o U L.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Can I ask you about am I too.
- 9:15Speaker 2: That was the biggest story is how well he pitched
- 9:17Speaker 2: to me for the Astros going forward, because they signed
- 9:20Speaker 2: him to with a three year deal and they have
- 9:23Speaker 2: he hadn't been good. He said he couldn't adjust, and
- 9:25Speaker 2: last night was the first time he looked like a
- 9:26Speaker 2: big league pitcher out there that could actually get some
- 9:28Speaker 2: dudes out. So I think that was the biggest story,
- 9:31Speaker 2: is that he pitched so well and he might be
- 9:33Speaker 2: something for him going forward, because if who knows when
- 9:36Speaker 2: they're gonna get Hunter Brown back at some of the
- 9:38Speaker 2: other guys, but Mike can step up. I mean, they're
- 9:42Speaker 2: the Astras are playing well right now. I mean, I
- 9:45Speaker 2: don't know, we're going to count the Cubs sweet because
- 9:46Speaker 2: the Cubs lose to everybody.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Now, we're going to get to that in a separate tech.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And the Cubs are awful.
- 9:50Speaker 1: You've got time.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Ever since the Lady cursed the White Sox Lady cursed him,
- 9:54Speaker 2: they've gone straight to credit.
- 9:58Speaker 1: But wait, let's get back to the White to the
- 10:00Speaker 1: Astros for a moment. Walker had a huge past week.
- 10:03Speaker 1: He's got I think four homers in his last three games.
- 10:06Speaker 1: You're ad on Avarez, Homeward and Kratz thoughts on if
- 10:10Speaker 1: this team can get involved again with Hater back in
- 10:13Speaker 1: the next couple weeks and Hunter Brown returning in maybe
- 10:19Speaker 1: early to mid June. No, he is. I've been tracking it.
- 10:23Speaker 1: He's in the miners already, Dude. He keeps moving up.
- 10:24Speaker 1: He's gonna be back like June tenth.
- 10:28Speaker 4: If the we've talked about stars aligning, we talked about
- 10:31Speaker 4: all depends on We're talked to Dallas Bradon later. It
- 10:34Speaker 4: depends on what the West does. If the West continues
- 10:37Speaker 4: to be, in my opinion, below average. Besides the A's No,
- 10:42Speaker 4: I think anybody can climb back in. I mean, the
- 10:46Speaker 4: Astros do they what Hunter Brown? Do they get back
- 10:50Speaker 4: Josh Hater? If both of them are back and they're
- 10:52Speaker 4: both elite. That's ridiculous because this team scores enough runs normally,
- 10:58Speaker 4: they score enough runs even with that, even without Altuve
- 11:02Speaker 4: for the next however many weeks he's going to be out.
- 11:05Speaker 4: They're just going to stay score runs. It's what they do,
- 11:07Speaker 4: That's how they were built. That's kind of what put
- 11:09Speaker 4: them in this predicament. They got the Correa contract last
- 11:12Speaker 4: year and it inhibited them from getting anybody but am
- 11:18Speaker 4: I and Ryan Weiss? So do they get those two
- 11:22Speaker 4: pitchers back? And does that help them? Absolutely? Do they
- 11:26Speaker 4: have to climb back in it. The only way they
- 11:28Speaker 4: climb back in it is if the West continues to
- 11:31Speaker 4: just play very Nah, then yeah, I guess anybody is
- 11:35Speaker 4: in it.
- 11:35Speaker 3: A hot streak away and you're you're three games out.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Okay, I completely disagree. And here's why the AL Wild
- 11:45Speaker 1: Card is a disaster right now. The Yankees have a seat,
- 11:50Speaker 1: the White Sox have a seat, the Twins have a seat,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and then, yes, the Mariners are on the outside looking in.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Blue Jays, Rangers, Orioles, Astros, Red Sox are all within
- 12:00Speaker 1: three games of a.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Lot of the cars, I mean a lot of those
- 12:05Speaker 2: teams named are playoff teams.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'm sorry, No, they're on the outside. But they all
- 12:09Speaker 1: have a chance to make a.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Run if they all have a I mean, who's making Okay,
- 12:13Speaker 5: so who's making?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Mariners are going to figure it out at some point.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So you think they're going to win the division, right.
- 12:18Speaker 2: They're gonna get in the I think the A's are
- 12:20Speaker 2: going to get in.
- 12:21Speaker 1: So you have the Mariners and the A's, yes, not
- 12:23Speaker 1: the Astros, okay, And then you.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Have the Rays and the Yankees and the Central the Guardians.
- 12:31Speaker 2: There's five yep, and then the sixth is do the
- 12:35Speaker 2: Oreoles finally catch a heater with colden? Cows are hitting
- 12:37Speaker 2: and walk off homers.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Every day, Blue.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Jays finally figured out? Do the White Sox keep doing
- 12:42Speaker 2: what they're doing and hovering around five hundred?
- 12:44Speaker 1: But not Houston?
- 12:45Speaker 2: I don't. I just don't see Houston.
- 12:47Speaker 1: No, they've got pitching coming back, though, what if A
- 12:49Speaker 1: found it?
- 12:50Speaker 2: Okay? No, not like one start. He had one start, Okay.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Not enough, but right now I'm saying in that start,
- 12:59Speaker 1: sometimes you get to me, this is a guy who's
- 13:02Speaker 1: i mean, he's completely changing arsenal pitch MIxS, even the
- 13:05Speaker 1: type of fastball. He's using mid game sometimes right, Like
- 13:08Speaker 1: Josh Miller, the pitching coach, said after the game that
- 13:10Speaker 1: he is actually not frazzled. You would think he is
- 13:13Speaker 1: with all the walks that he's issued. He's, like he said,
- 13:16Speaker 1: he's figuring it out on the fly here in terms
- 13:18Speaker 1: of how his stuff translates, and it just hasn't happened yet.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But why is the coach not helping him through that?
- 13:22Speaker 2: Why does he have to do this on the fly?
- 13:24Speaker 2: That would be my next question.
- 13:25Speaker 1: He did remember the meeting in the first and then
- 13:27Speaker 1: he was different after that.
- 13:28Speaker 2: But he's like he's figuring out in the game, Like
- 13:30Speaker 2: why is he not? Why do they not have bullpens
- 13:32Speaker 2: and figure this out other than in the middle of
- 13:34Speaker 2: a game when he walks seven guys every time other
- 13:37Speaker 2: than this time, I have an idea.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I think I mentioned this once. Do you think there's
- 13:41Speaker 1: some debate internally with how he should be implementing his
- 13:45Speaker 1: arsenal team everything. So don't you think maybe the team's like, hey,
- 13:49Speaker 1: do this. He's like, Eh, this is what works for me,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and I just got here and there's a little bit
- 13:53Speaker 1: of that guy.
- 13:53Speaker 2: It seems that you let you go through it though.
- 13:55Speaker 2: First before they try to change anything on you. They
- 13:57Speaker 2: don't just jump into the middle of it. They let
- 13:59Speaker 2: you go through it most of the time.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And he went through it and it didn't work.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Out well, or maybe he figured it out right.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Or he figured it out. Do you guys think he
- 14:08Speaker 1: would pitch well the rest of the season? Over under
- 14:12Speaker 1: four e r A. The from here forget even yesterday
- 14:17Speaker 1: here on out starting right now.
- 14:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, over watch too many, guys, unless he
- 14:22Speaker 2: figures out the walk from And I watched his last
- 14:24Speaker 2: start because I bet on him. It was not big
- 14:26Speaker 2: league stuff. I didn't watch all last night. No, it
- 14:29Speaker 2: was not big league stuff. The two starts was it?
- 14:31Speaker 2: Two starts a go? I bet on him to get
- 14:34Speaker 2: over like five punch outs against somebody. It was not.
- 14:36Speaker 2: They weren't even sniffing swinging at his pitches. So maybe
- 14:40Speaker 2: he made a huge adjustment, but it would be a
- 14:42Speaker 2: large jump from what I saw. Again, I didn't watch
- 14:44Speaker 2: last night's game. I kind of flipped over about the
- 14:47Speaker 2: seventh inning when I realized they had a no hitter going,
- 14:49Speaker 2: so I didn't see him pitch at all. But I
- 14:52Speaker 2: just unless something change real quick, which listen for him
- 14:55Speaker 2: and for the Astros, I hope it does or it
- 14:57Speaker 2: did well. We'll see. I think it'll be over four.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I think.
- 15:01Speaker 4: I agree. I think it's over four. But here's here's
- 15:04Speaker 4: where I have an issue. And I didn't see enough
- 15:07Speaker 4: of yesterday's game, but I've seen enough of his other starts.
- 15:11Speaker 4: He is either one of two outcomes. He's in the
- 15:14Speaker 4: zone and he's not walking guys.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I think he had.
- 15:16Speaker 4: I think two starts ago he had zero walks, like
- 15:18Speaker 4: five punchies. Then the ball gets whacked like I think
- 15:22Speaker 4: he gave up two or three homers that game. Then
- 15:25Speaker 4: when you're out of the zone, guys are taking those pitches,
- 15:27Speaker 4: and his strikeouts go down, his pitch count goes up,
- 15:30Speaker 4: and it's a very labored start. So that's where I
- 15:34Speaker 4: see his If you're walking three to five guys per
- 15:38Speaker 4: game in less than five innings, I think if you're
- 15:42Speaker 4: you're you are setting yourself up for a very high era.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Maybe your fit or whatever your BIP is going to
- 15:51Speaker 4: be low, but I think you're you're setting yourself up
- 15:54Speaker 4: for failure. And if there's a disconnect in the organization,
- 16:00Speaker 4: that's part of the whole recruiting process. Not hey, We're
- 16:02Speaker 4: going to spend eighteen million a year on you for
- 16:05Speaker 4: a three year deal, even though the rest of the
- 16:07Speaker 4: industry thinks you could possibly be a bullpen guy because
- 16:11Speaker 4: you have one big, above average, big lea pitch and
- 16:13Speaker 4: that's your slider. We're gonna sign you. But you got
- 16:18Speaker 4: to change this now. He's twenty eight years old, like
- 16:21Speaker 4: you should have a finished product that continues to make
- 16:24Speaker 4: adjustments in the big leagues, continues to say, Okay, well,
- 16:27Speaker 4: my stuff isn't playing right now outside of the zone.
- 16:30Speaker 4: They're not chasing it. Why is that? That kind of
- 16:32Speaker 4: stuff gets figured out by the third inning of your
- 16:35Speaker 4: first start, and you know if stuff is overwhelming, stuff
- 16:39Speaker 4: is going too fast for them. Like that's part of
- 16:44Speaker 4: what you're getting. When you're buying a a eighteen million
- 16:49Speaker 4: dollars a year pitcher from Japan, it's twenty eight years old,
- 16:52Speaker 4: you anticipate him being able to make those adjustments and
- 16:55Speaker 4: being able to be a pitchable pitcher, somebody that can
- 16:58Speaker 4: make adjustments throughout us start. And I don't see that
- 17:02Speaker 4: as far as making adjustments to have extreme success.
- 17:06Speaker 3: So I will watch his next start.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I'll watch his next start to see if it looks
- 17:10Speaker 4: like any of the others, and unfortunately I didn't watch
- 17:12Speaker 4: his start last night.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Okay, well, I disagree with you guys. I think the
- 17:15Speaker 1: Astros are going to finished product.
- 17:17Speaker 2: They knew that. Yeah yeah, Rookiesazaki wouldn't finished product when
- 17:21Speaker 2: he came over.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And that's why I might got money. He got sixty
- 17:24Speaker 1: something to milk, but he didn't get one hundred and
- 17:26Speaker 1: fifty mil you know. I mean some people thought he
- 17:28Speaker 1: was gonna get a lot more, just like Murakami, who
- 17:30Speaker 1: people were completely wrong on. So I just I'm saying,
- 17:33Speaker 1: let's let's see, let's see what it looks like. Spencer
- 17:35Speaker 1: Agetty's been awesome. He's been on fire, tanged the dude
- 17:37Speaker 1: they picked up. He's been great for them, So I
- 17:40Speaker 1: just think there's a little more there. Mike Burrows actually
- 17:42Speaker 1: hasn't put up great R numbers, I think, but when
- 17:45Speaker 1: I've watched his starts, like, there's been some unlucky outings there.
- 17:48Speaker 1: So I think it's going to be good enough for
- 17:49Speaker 1: them to stay involved because the al wild Card's kind
- 17:52Speaker 1: of are.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Gonna fight a lot.
- 17:53Speaker 1: They are, but I think this is enough grade offensively
- 17:57Speaker 1: over Korea. He is, He's a better hitter right now
- 17:59Speaker 1: than Craze, right, yeah, yeah, So I think there's enough there.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yourn's one of the best walker's on fire. I think
- 18:08Speaker 1: they're going to be a wildcard contender. We're a contender
- 18:11Speaker 1: in general if the al West gets home.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I love Joe Spot. I hope they
- 18:14Speaker 2: are because I really like that guy, Tod Father.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm a last minutic guy. Sometimes you're a last minutic
- 18:20Speaker 1: guy where you all of a sudden see a night
- 18:23Speaker 1: open up and you want to go grab some tickets,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and you hadn't gotten them already, so you're going to
- 18:27Speaker 1: seek geek and you're gonna go look for a green
- 18:30Speaker 1: dot and see where the good seats are and the
- 18:32Speaker 1: good value is and have a little night with the fam.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Right without a doubt. And I'm looking for some of
- 18:37Speaker 6: the best seats. I'm looking for that green dot. When
- 18:39Speaker 6: I get that. It's a simple plug it in, use
- 18:42Speaker 6: your hands, go right on your screen, your phone, whatever
- 18:46Speaker 6: platform you can get it on. And it's so simple.
- 18:48Speaker 6: They make it so easy for you to do. Even
- 18:52Speaker 6: my son can do it. If I ask them, Hey, Blikester,
- 18:54Speaker 6: let's go man, get on there for us, find us
- 18:56Speaker 6: a couple of seats so we can watch even that
- 18:58Speaker 6: Subway series.
- 18:59Speaker 1: That would be fantastic.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Seat Geek has it all there for you.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and the code for you. You should know it.
- 19:05Speaker 1: It's Territory ten. It just gets you ten percent off
- 19:07Speaker 1: your next set of tickets at see ten percent off
- 19:09Speaker 1: any tickets with promo code Territory one zero. Make sure
- 19:12Speaker 1: you click the link in the description, download the app.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Then the code is automatically added to you account so
- 19:17Speaker 1: you can use it later better than box scores. Let's
- 19:27Speaker 1: talk about the National League. We'll get to the Cubs,
- 19:29Speaker 1: the Brewers, the Dodgers. Let's start with the NL Central
- 19:32Speaker 1: kind of flipping here. So the Cubs have lost nine
- 19:35Speaker 1: in a row. You also just watched the Brewers the
- 19:38Speaker 1: other day. Where are we at with this division?
- 19:42Speaker 2: The Cubs are on struggle city right now. The funny
- 19:46Speaker 2: thing about them is they can't hit, which is the
- 19:49Speaker 2: weird thing because this was a lineup that we thought
- 19:51Speaker 2: would really come in and score a lot of runs.
- 19:53Speaker 2: They're pitching, I think has been better than I would
- 19:56Speaker 2: say most people thought, especially with the injuries with Steele
- 19:59Speaker 2: and Horton and some of the others. But him and
- 20:01Speaker 2: Naga has been bad last few times around. Colin Ray
- 20:04Speaker 2: has been really good. Actually, he's been probably their I
- 20:07Speaker 2: don't want to say their best guy, but he's been.
- 20:09Speaker 2: He's been pretty good. They just haven't scored runs. And
- 20:13Speaker 2: that's a surprise, I think for a lot of people,
- 20:15Speaker 2: and the White Sox man. Ever since the White Sox
- 20:18Speaker 2: Lady said this, Ever since that White Sox Lady and
- 20:20Speaker 2: Pete kro Armstrong got into it, they have just they
- 20:22Speaker 2: haven't won a game since then. So the White Sox,
- 20:25Speaker 2: I don't know if they what they did to them,
- 20:26Speaker 2: they cursed him or whatever, Mike Vassel with his magic
- 20:29Speaker 2: wand but uh yeah, it's it's hasn't been good, and
- 20:32Speaker 2: their offense has been really bad.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Runners in scoring position one ninety this month ranks twenty ninth.
- 20:39Speaker 1: They were hitting, like you said, and they were all
- 20:41Speaker 1: of a sudden, they're not hitting. And it seems to
- 20:44Speaker 1: be the contagious factor, right.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they have their bench. I don't know
- 20:48Speaker 2: how to fix it. I do. I don't know what
- 20:50Speaker 2: you do.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You can't really do it.
- 20:51Speaker 2: These are veteran guys too. They're not young guys. Yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 2: much a veteran bunch of veteran guys.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but do you think it's guys just all hitting
- 20:58Speaker 1: their slumps at the same time.
- 21:01Speaker 2: There's always usually, no matter how bad a team is,
- 21:03Speaker 2: there's usually at least one guy that's going pretty good
- 21:06Speaker 2: and everyone's like, oh, look at this guy. He's happy
- 21:08Speaker 2: he's getting hits. But on this team, it's like nobody's.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Doing bush kind of Bush.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I guess would be the one, but he's even his
- 21:14Speaker 2: not being great.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Ballistairis is young and he's going to go through his
- 21:18Speaker 1: struggles and that's what you know.
- 21:20Speaker 2: But you're counting on Bregman, You're counting on Swanson, You're
- 21:22Speaker 2: counting on Half, You're counting on Suzuki, you're counting on Nico,
- 21:26Speaker 2: You're counting on all these guys to do things and
- 21:29Speaker 2: be more steady. It's been ten game winning streak, ten
- 21:32Speaker 2: game losing Street, ten game winning streak, ten game losing Street.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It's incredible, it really is. I don't know if you've
- 21:38Speaker 1: ever seen a pattern like this that I'm sure it's
- 21:40Speaker 1: been looked up.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And the Brewers. The Brewers are just solid. The Brewers
- 21:43Speaker 2: just they don't make mistakes on defense, They pitch really well.
- 21:47Speaker 2: They again, I say this, and we kind of got
- 21:49Speaker 2: into this on the air the other night with Wayne
- 21:51Speaker 2: Right and I. They're just a different breed of playing
- 21:54Speaker 2: than you see on a regular basis, and they're really
- 21:59Speaker 2: good what they do, which is putting pressure and keeping
- 22:02Speaker 2: pressure on the other team, and they do it better
- 22:05Speaker 2: than anybody else. I think Tampa is getting to that point.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Tampa this year has that sign came same kind of
- 22:11Speaker 2: team because one through nine they have pressure that they
- 22:13Speaker 2: can put on you. And with you know, you have
- 22:15Speaker 2: Chandler Slimpson at the top and Milwaukee you have it.
- 22:18Speaker 2: It's a little bit different, but it's very similar. But
- 22:22Speaker 2: they just don't Again, I'll say this again, I just
- 22:24Speaker 2: worry the Brewers. They don't hit home runs. They're last
- 22:26Speaker 2: in the league in home runs. It's a hard way
- 22:29Speaker 2: to win in the postseason if you don't hit home runs.
- 22:31Speaker 2: But they're really good at what they do. I love Murph,
- 22:33Speaker 2: I love Milwaukee cratch Schwager. We made fun of him
- 22:37Speaker 2: on the air. I don't think he liked it very much,
- 22:39Speaker 2: but that's fine.
- 22:41Speaker 4: I'll make sure I text him a nice a nice
- 22:43Speaker 4: heart emoji so that he can feel better about himself.
- 22:45Speaker 4: But I'm gonna go out later and see him in
- 22:47Speaker 4: a couple of months. But to me, okay, you said,
- 22:50Speaker 4: you say they don't they don't hit enough home runs,
- 22:52Speaker 4: all right. I think some fans will be like, well,
- 22:55Speaker 4: the Blue Jays didn't hit a lot of home runs
- 22:58Speaker 4: and they made it to Game seven. The Blue Jays
- 23:00Speaker 4: ended up hitting home runs. They slugged, they hit the ball.
- 23:03Speaker 4: So yes, the reason you don't win consistently in the
- 23:07Speaker 4: postseason without hitting dingers is because you're facing the number one,
- 23:14Speaker 4: two in three pitchers in a rotation, sometimes just one
- 23:17Speaker 4: and two, and you're facing the top four bullpen guys,
- 23:21Speaker 4: and it's just so hard to get hits off of
- 23:23Speaker 4: those guys. It's so hard to say, hey, I'm a
- 23:26Speaker 4: really good pitcher. I know you don't have any power.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I'm gonna nibble around the zone. No, like they just
- 23:33Speaker 4: they come after you. They come after the heart of
- 23:35Speaker 4: the order. So's that's why it doesn't necessarily work in
- 23:39Speaker 4: the postseason. I don't think that's necessarily why they haven't
- 23:42Speaker 4: won in the postseason, because they did. They beat the
- 23:45Speaker 4: PI Dres last year. No, yeah, they beat the PI
- 23:48Speaker 4: Dres last year. They took on the Cubs beat them
- 23:51Speaker 4: so they can win in the playoffs. To me, what
- 23:54Speaker 4: you guys started talking about before with the Cubs, they
- 23:58Speaker 4: take such good team at bats early in the year
- 24:00Speaker 4: where they had you know, the whole team. Oh, we
- 24:02Speaker 4: don't know if it's a concerted effort or not, but
- 24:05Speaker 4: they just weren't swinging. I don't see how it wasn't
- 24:07Speaker 4: a concerted effort, Like they were chasing way less, they
- 24:10Speaker 4: were waiting for pitches middle middle.
- 24:13Speaker 3: So are they doing the same thing in this nine.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Game losing streak where they're not scoring runs or they're
- 24:17Speaker 4: not hitting in runs in scoring position. Are they being
- 24:19Speaker 4: too passive? You just you go through slumps. You just
- 24:24Speaker 4: rarely see a fifteen game home winning streak and a
- 24:28Speaker 4: nine game losing streak. Like it's just it's a weird
- 24:32Speaker 4: it's a weird dynamic that obviously Cubs fans are I
- 24:37Speaker 4: rate that Craig Council is still their manager, which is
- 24:40Speaker 4: just totally asinine to blame it on Craig Council. But
- 24:45Speaker 4: it's you know, because that's why fans are getting mad
- 24:47Speaker 4: because they don't know what else to blame it on either.
- 24:50Speaker 1: By the way, just for your stop boy correction, Cubs
- 24:54Speaker 1: beat the Padres and then.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Got swept by the Dodgers four four runs. By the way,
- 25:02Speaker 2: they scored four runs and four.
- 25:03Speaker 1: This is the problem you're talking about, right, if you
- 25:05Speaker 1: run into the tippy top. Are they going to be
- 25:08Speaker 1: able to score enough to support what's going on? Are
- 25:11Speaker 1: they going to pitch decently? Yeah? I mean they they
- 25:14Speaker 1: pitched decently. Is the pitching better this year than last year?
- 25:18Speaker 1: The starting pitching is for sure, right, even though yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: they had Freddy last year and he pitched well. Yeah,
- 25:23Speaker 1: the Brewers. I mean, for example, aren't you starting a
- 25:26Speaker 1: playoff series with Miz and Kyle Harrison and feeling pretty
- 25:30Speaker 1: good to start off the series? Then, I mean, right now,
- 25:33Speaker 1: if the playoffs started tomorrow, those are your two starters,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and then they're probably just mishmashing the rest of the way.
- 25:39Speaker 2: And he looks like a real dude. If he can
- 25:42Speaker 2: stay healthy, he's gonna have a great year, unbelievable career.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I mean, his stuff he's chucking up there is ridiculous.
- 25:48Speaker 2: So I mean he's a real guy. I think Harrison is.
- 25:52Speaker 2: You know, it's been a couple of months of really
- 25:54Speaker 2: good now, so I think that's another guy they can
- 25:56Speaker 2: count on after that, it's kind of broke. Gonna be something.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Their bullpen is really good. Do they do a great job.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Murph does a great job, and hook of Hookie the
- 26:06Speaker 2: pitching coach, of mixing and matching with their guys. But again,
- 26:11Speaker 2: to me, it's going to come down to can they
- 26:14Speaker 2: hit enough. They had great pitching last year and they
- 26:16Speaker 2: couldn't get it done.
- 26:18Speaker 1: How come they can't add a power bat.
- 26:20Speaker 2: They can't headline. I forget who brought it up. Maybe, oh,
- 26:24Speaker 2: Ken Rosenthal I think brought it up. He said, he
- 26:27Speaker 2: even brought up schoobl maybe going there, And I was.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Like, what, I'd be sick.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Ken was doing his report on school. If possibly getting traded,
- 26:34Speaker 2: and he's like, one of the two teams on this
- 26:35Speaker 2: field would be an interesting trade choice. Of course, I
- 26:37Speaker 2: was thinking he was going to say Dodgers. He said
- 26:40Speaker 2: the Brewers. Huh, but it.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Makes sense they have prospects to trade too.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, prospects they could trade. It would make sense. I
- 26:47Speaker 2: don't think that. I don't know the Tigers would do that,
- 26:48Speaker 2: but to me, they need a bat. But if you
- 26:51Speaker 2: go Miserowski, Harris and Schoobl, boy.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I'm not saying this was the right option. I'm just
- 26:57Speaker 1: going off memory. That's not great, which is mind. But
- 27:00Speaker 1: remember last year Gino Suarez didn't get traded for much
- 27:04Speaker 1: like we thought he'd have more attention. He didn't. The
- 27:06Speaker 1: league looks at him like, oh, it's just a power bat,
- 27:09Speaker 1: more of a single tool guy. Don't you feel like
- 27:12Speaker 1: the Brewers kind of need a dude that can.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Just Yes, dude had a son of a.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Bitch in the middle of the order something like that.
- 27:24Speaker 2: But I don't know where they're gonna get him.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's not easy to find that in the trade market.
- 27:29Speaker 2: You're going to trade for, you.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Don't have to give up as much, right, No, he's
- 27:36Speaker 1: just using the example like is there somebody that will
- 27:39Speaker 1: emerge this trade deadline for them to be able to
- 27:42Speaker 1: go after?
- 27:44Speaker 2: That's what I mean.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Like you have your like where where are you going
- 27:48Speaker 4: to find that impact bat? Where are you gonna even
- 27:52Speaker 4: if the Brewers would have gone and gotten like a
- 27:55Speaker 4: Hideo Suarez, is he athletic enough, defensively enough because you
- 27:58Speaker 4: don't want to take away from from your superpower, which
- 28:02Speaker 4: nobody ever talks about is it's just kind of glazed over.
- 28:06Speaker 4: They've got great defense, it's glazed over the fact that
- 28:09Speaker 4: they have three center fielders in the outfield. It's glazed
- 28:12Speaker 4: over that they have platinum glove at second base, which
- 28:15Speaker 4: to me is crazy because they don't really even have
- 28:19Speaker 4: like a true natural shortstop. And so you sit there
- 28:24Speaker 4: and you go, if you get a power bat, who
- 28:26Speaker 4: is that?
- 28:26Speaker 2: Who?
- 28:27Speaker 3: Or where does he play? What is that?
- 28:28Speaker 4: Because you can't take the DH spots away from Yelly
- 28:31Speaker 4: right now, and so is that what they would look for,
- 28:36Speaker 4: is a power bat or would they just kind of
- 28:38Speaker 4: continue to say, no, you know what, we like our
- 28:41Speaker 4: team and we're just going to keep continuing to win.
- 28:45Speaker 1: AJ gave me a line on Blue Chew.

- 29:46Speaker 1: they should look for a power back. And as far
- 29:48Speaker 1: as shortstop, I mean, Joey Ortiz is magnificent defensively, but
- 29:52Speaker 1: the bat's not there. And there's been storylines all year
- 29:55Speaker 1: about when Cooper Pratt gets the call up. Not that
- 29:58Speaker 1: he's blown the minor leagues away, but at some point
- 30:00Speaker 1: he is going to get called up and likely slid
- 30:04Speaker 1: in there and a lot of their guys can play
- 30:06Speaker 1: a few spots around the infield.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Now, Joey Ortiz and uh Renifa were the two that
- 30:11Speaker 2: are on the possibility of being gone. When they bring
- 30:14Speaker 2: up Pratt and they have another guy.
- 30:17Speaker 1: What they're talking about Fisher, Williams, oh Jet Williams too. Right,
- 30:21Speaker 1: they have guy Andrew Fisher that might have some pop.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but thees come up you can't count on that.
- 30:28Speaker 2: You need they need an established guy that is a
- 30:30Speaker 2: presence in their lineup that can hit him a bunch
- 30:33Speaker 2: of homers. That's listen. It's cool that you have rookies
- 30:36Speaker 2: and it's cool that you can do that, but when
- 30:38Speaker 2: you get to the postseason, you need dudes that scare
- 30:40Speaker 2: the other team. And right now, I don't know that
- 30:42Speaker 2: they have that. And that's that's including Jackson Churio. That's
- 30:44Speaker 2: including Christian Yellwich, that's including William Contraras, it's including the
- 30:50Speaker 2: team they have now. But they just don't have when
- 30:52Speaker 2: you you throw them against the other playoff teams that
- 30:54Speaker 2: you think the other teams have guys that scare you
- 30:58Speaker 2: just a little bit more. But the Brewers are great
- 31:00Speaker 2: what they do, and they're really good and they're really
- 31:01Speaker 2: fun to watch.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just trying to think of guys on
- 31:04Speaker 1: the fly, and we're gonna do this very soon with
- 31:07Speaker 1: trade talk for a month and a half leading up
- 31:10Speaker 1: to the deadline. But I guess they have a bunch
- 31:13Speaker 1: of middle infielders. So C. J. Abrams isn't the fit,
- 31:15Speaker 1: but he's got pop. I mean, I don't know if
- 31:17Speaker 1: that's an that's a guy wh's probably gonna hit thirty
- 31:20Speaker 1: five homers this year. Like I'm just trying to think,
- 31:23Speaker 1: who is that guy?
- 31:25Speaker 2: Right?
- 31:26Speaker 1: Ideally, I mean they have room, well do they.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Have dam player? But he's not a forty homer guy.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And Bowers yeah, right, a first baseman would fit that.
- 31:39Speaker 1: That's usually actually one of the easiest spots to find
- 31:42Speaker 1: it the trade deadline, right, yeah, the guy I could
- 31:44Speaker 1: maybe play some first for you. I wonder if you
- 31:48Speaker 1: expanded even more to a guy where you don't have
- 31:49Speaker 1: to worry defensively and like, can Christian Yelich try and
- 31:53Speaker 1: play that? Do you think they'll ever try to put
- 31:55Speaker 1: him in though?
- 31:57Speaker 2: Cheerio free like he's not gonna play now.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I mean, ideally they love the super athlete outfield situation,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and Yellis has heard a lot, so I don't know.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I mean, he's taking up d H when he's playing.
- 32:09Speaker 1: You want could he play first? Or that's too radical?
- 32:13Speaker 4: No, I don't even think with his back, I don't
- 32:16Speaker 4: even think you want him on his feet but I
- 32:18Speaker 4: don't see I don't see him moving him the first
- 32:21Speaker 4: that's your DH.
- 32:22Speaker 2: They have the DH.
- 32:23Speaker 4: And the last few years in the playoffs, Yelly's like
- 32:27Speaker 4: they've kind of just pitched around Yelly and he was
- 32:29Speaker 4: taking his walks and then he felt like he needed
- 32:31Speaker 4: to get the job done, and then his numbers in
- 32:33Speaker 4: the playoffs kind of went down. For exactly what AJ's saying,
- 32:37Speaker 4: it's the presence in the order.
- 32:39Speaker 3: You need somebody that you're like, whoa.
- 32:42Speaker 4: So hey, Could Jackson Cherio be that guy in the
- 32:45Speaker 4: middle of a playoff series? Maybe, but we haven't seen
- 32:49Speaker 4: it yet.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And he's young.
- 32:50Speaker 4: He can have incredible years. He's an all star type
- 32:53Speaker 4: of player. But you have to have guys that step
- 32:57Speaker 4: up and say when you're making your scattery against the
- 33:00Speaker 4: other team, they're saying, just be careful because so and
- 33:05Speaker 4: so is there.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Just be careful. Kyle Schwarber is in that lineup.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Careful. Nick Kurtz is in that lineup. Just be careful.
- 33:12Speaker 4: You are not Alvarez in that lineup. And they don't
- 33:15Speaker 4: have that, and that could be their downfall, or they
- 33:17Speaker 4: could figure it out and we'll all look like idiots
- 33:21Speaker 4: because they're a team that wins all the time.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I have a name, I've got a guy. This is
- 33:27Speaker 1: if you guys are right and the Astros are not
- 33:30Speaker 1: in it. The Astros were shopping Christian Walker hard. This
- 33:33Speaker 1: is where the stock is sky high. Yeah, you can't
- 33:36Speaker 1: do what you did last year where he didn't have
- 33:38Speaker 1: a good first year, then you shop him. The whole
- 33:40Speaker 1: point is, now he's playing well, if the team's not
- 33:43Speaker 1: in contention, when we get to the wildcard spot or
- 33:46Speaker 1: the trade deadline and they're not in a wildcard position,
- 33:50Speaker 1: isn't that a guy that you look at if you're Milwaukee,
- 33:54Speaker 1: if he's playing like he is right now and he's
- 33:56Speaker 1: an excellent I mean, he's so good, so you're you're
- 34:00Speaker 1: improving with your first base d I mean, he's a
- 34:02Speaker 1: top three defender at first base, so he fits the
- 34:05Speaker 1: run prevention mold. He's a guy who can hit a
- 34:07Speaker 1: bunch of homers. I know he's had kind of a
- 34:09Speaker 1: tough postseason pass, but that doesn't mean O crap to me.
- 34:13Speaker 4: So I feel like that kills the Dodgers, and he
- 34:16Speaker 4: kills the Dodgers kills right, and you're gonna play against
- 34:19Speaker 4: You're gonna play against the National League. In the National
- 34:21Speaker 4: League goes through the Dodgers, and Christian Walker was having
- 34:26Speaker 4: I think it was July twentieth, seventeen, something like that,
- 34:32Speaker 4: Rampty All Star break. Christian Walker started to take off.
- 34:35Speaker 4: So he's been hitting now for quite a full calendar year,
- 34:39Speaker 4: a full baseball season year.
- 34:41Speaker 2: But he's been.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Hitting, and he's he would be a guy and that
- 34:45Speaker 4: I mean, I think the Astros will be willing to
- 34:47Speaker 4: get rid of this year's salary and twenty million for
- 34:50Speaker 4: next year.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I think, so, okay, that's a good one. Let's finish
- 34:55Speaker 1: with this. If you're going back to the prior series,
- 34:59Speaker 1: the Dodgers ended have taken that series. I know Milwaukee
- 35:02Speaker 1: had a big first.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Game, but then had a big first inning.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Right and that was it. And then the Dodgers did
- 35:10Speaker 1: their thing.
- 35:11Speaker 2: The Dodgers just walked him to death. They just were
- 35:13Speaker 2: patient and gas are in the second game kind of
- 35:15Speaker 2: ran out of gas. And then yesterday spread They.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Got to Sprot on Sunday.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Sunday, sorry, and Sazaki, Sazaki listened. He gave
- 35:25Speaker 2: up i think three in the first and then held
- 35:27Speaker 2: him down for five innings. He he I don't want
- 35:34Speaker 2: to say Sazaki's figured it out. But he looks better,
- 35:37Speaker 2: but you can still see there's a little bit of
- 35:40Speaker 2: when things start going bad, he doesn't exactly know how
- 35:42Speaker 2: to get it back together, but he does look better.
- 35:45Speaker 2: He's serviceable right now. He's a serviceable major league pitcher
- 35:48Speaker 2: right now.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Well, they're working on the fly with him too. Right now,
- 35:51Speaker 1: all of a sudden, splitters a lot.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Well, he throws two different He throws like the forkball,
- 35:56Speaker 2: which is like the big knuckleball, looking one right. He
- 35:58Speaker 2: throws a splitter, which is like no one.
- 36:00Speaker 1: But he wasn't using the splitter.
- 36:03Speaker 2: He was using the hard when he was only using
- 36:04Speaker 2: the forkball. But like like what Rainwright and I were
- 36:07Speaker 2: talking about, So he just threw a slider more. He
- 36:09Speaker 2: can actually control his slider and if you remember early
- 36:12Speaker 2: last year, he was throwing more sliders to get strikes
- 36:15Speaker 2: because he couldn't throw his fastball or split. And that's
- 36:18Speaker 2: a pitch I think that he can really use, especially
- 36:19Speaker 2: against righties.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Okay, so they're still figuring him out.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Do you feel like when you watched his game, when
- 36:26Speaker 4: you've watched him pitch, do you feel like he is
- 36:29Speaker 4: a pitcher that hopes the splitter of the forkball lands
- 36:33Speaker 4: in the zone when he throws it. Just based on
- 36:35Speaker 4: the reaction based on watching it. To me, that's what
- 36:38Speaker 4: it looks like. Do you did you sense that or
- 36:40Speaker 4: no when you watched him pitch. I think with the
- 36:43Speaker 4: harder one he feels better about it. I think the
- 36:45Speaker 4: slow one.
- 36:45Speaker 2: With the wider grip and the knuckleball, yeah, I think
- 36:50Speaker 2: he is a little bit tougher, and I think that's
- 36:52Speaker 2: the one he hopes he gets swings out. But the split,
- 36:54Speaker 2: the smaller split, that's harder. I think that's the one
- 36:56Speaker 2: that he believes in.
- 36:59Speaker 1: That's the one he used in Japan.
- 37:01Speaker 2: The harder one, I think to the other one, that was.
- 37:03Speaker 1: The signature one for him.
- 37:05Speaker 4: I think it was the signature one was the forkball
- 37:08Speaker 4: because when he first came over, they were talking about,
- 37:10Speaker 4: you know, he he held it so deep and then
- 37:12Speaker 4: it was like the RPMs were just a little bit
- 37:16Speaker 4: faster than say a knuckleball, and like everyone's.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Like, this is ridiculous.
- 37:21Speaker 4: It has this much movement and he just couldn't he
- 37:24Speaker 4: couldn't control it. So it was the forkball when he
- 37:26Speaker 4: came over.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Okay, I thought he had the the other guy there. Yeah,
- 37:33Speaker 1: look Dragon Fork in Japan during the WBC average ninety one.
- 37:39Speaker 1: That's the harder one, right, I don't know. We have
- 37:45Speaker 1: a lot of Dodger people in here. They can probably
- 37:47Speaker 1: help us out in the chat. We got a jump,
- 37:49Speaker 1: but but he's.
- 37:51Speaker 4: The harder one. The harder one is the one he
- 37:53Speaker 4: just he just started. He changed it, just a different
- 37:56Speaker 4: orientation on his hand and he just started that start
- 37:59Speaker 4: throwing that one more.
- 38:01Speaker 1: No, I know that, but I think that he had
- 38:03Speaker 1: done that in the past. Maybe it was both whatever.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I mean, I think he had that. I don't think
- 38:08Speaker 1: that was brand new for him. I think they figured
- 38:10Speaker 1: that out again. Last thing, what did you think of
- 38:14Speaker 1: the signs stealing fun out there? And Doc said, Oh,
- 38:17Speaker 1: I don't even think we had it.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I know on Saturday the game we did I forget.
- 38:23Speaker 2: The Brewers brought in a righty and Pie was on
- 38:25Speaker 2: second and he was making it. He was standing on
- 38:28Speaker 2: the base and waiting until the guy went into his
- 38:31Speaker 2: glove and he was visibly it would be this way,
- 38:36Speaker 2: trying to see it who I forget who was pitching.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Whoever was pitching had it hidden really well, so they
- 38:40Speaker 2: said he couldn't see it. But this is what every
- 38:43Speaker 2: team does. Now, this isn't a thing. That's not Every
- 38:46Speaker 2: team does this, and they make it so obvious. It's
- 38:48Speaker 2: like he was just watching a game. Anytime we gotta
- 38:51Speaker 2: gets on second, I'll watch the guy on second right
- 38:52Speaker 2: away and say, oh see he look, yeah there it
- 38:55Speaker 2: is right there. Why because he can see that he
- 38:57Speaker 2: can see the pitcher going into his glove right there.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's it's crazy, and I think I
- 39:03Speaker 2: think this is the About or taoskar Hitt the homer.
- 39:07Speaker 1: That's Gasser on the mound fourth.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Any that was I think the inning he hit the
- 39:10Speaker 2: home run. But the also the funny part was Gasser
- 39:13Speaker 2: struck him out on the About before the slider that
- 39:16Speaker 2: almost was behind him, and he tried to do it
- 39:18Speaker 2: again in taoscar beat him to the spot. Now is
- 39:21Speaker 2: it because Piez was telling him all was coming. I
- 39:22Speaker 2: don't know, But this to me, don't make it so obvious.
- 39:27Speaker 2: It would be my first thing I would say. But also,
- 39:29Speaker 2: if you're a pitcher, you got to do something different
- 39:31Speaker 2: so they can't see it. I'm sorry. Like this is
- 39:33Speaker 2: also a little bit on the picture in the CA
- 39:36Speaker 2: I remember when guy would think guys would have our signs.
- 39:38Speaker 2: You go out and you change the sign, and if
- 39:40Speaker 2: you're watching them, you obviously you say something to the
- 39:43Speaker 2: guy as but you also have to change it. There's
- 39:46Speaker 2: a little bit of responsibility you have as the player.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So I'm not saying that everybody has to do something different.
- 39:52Speaker 2: But there also used to be a code or hey,
- 39:54Speaker 2: if we catch you doing this, you're gonna get smoked.
- 39:55Speaker 2: We don't have that. There's no code anymore. There is
- 39:58Speaker 2: no code anymore. If you were even I remember I
- 40:01Speaker 2: stand on second, I would just put my hands on
- 40:02Speaker 2: my knees and be because I didn't want to get
- 40:05Speaker 2: I got hit enough. I didn't need to get hit
- 40:06Speaker 2: anymore for people thinking I was doing stuff. Now guys
- 40:10Speaker 2: do it blatantly. They do, and guys don't even say
- 40:12Speaker 2: anything to them.
- 40:13Speaker 1: There's no repercussions. But is it the signs or it's
- 40:15Speaker 1: the grips, Well.
- 40:17Speaker 2: The grips, but still can you imagine Nolan Ryan's out
- 40:21Speaker 2: there pitching, Nolan Ryan's at second and he goes, he
- 40:23Speaker 2: comes down. Whoever's the second goes Guess what he's getting
- 40:27Speaker 2: Next time he came up to hit.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Smoke, he's getting smoked, but then the league's going to
- 40:30Speaker 1: keep suspending you and then.
- 40:31Speaker 2: You expt So okay, So that's why you can't get
- 40:35Speaker 2: mad about. You got to do something as the pitcher
- 40:36Speaker 2: to make sure whether however you have if you have
- 40:39Speaker 2: to hold your glove to where that nobody can see you,
- 40:41Speaker 2: like wait, you over here, over here, whatever you have
- 40:43Speaker 2: to do, you gotta do it because if there's no
- 40:46Speaker 2: repercussions from doing this, it's not gonna stop.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Here's my thing. We always say pitching is advancing. There's
- 40:51Speaker 1: so many tools and so much tech available to master
- 40:54Speaker 1: each pitch that you have. Okay, so here's an advantage
- 40:56Speaker 1: for hitters. There's now ai to differentiate whatevery grip looks
- 41:00Speaker 1: like in the smallest little thing that teams share with
- 41:02Speaker 1: players and say, hey, if you're a teching and you
- 41:04Speaker 1: can see this, tell us that's what's going on. And
- 41:06Speaker 1: that's fine.
- 41:07Speaker 2: But they're also just seeing in the group because I
- 41:09Speaker 2: know a second. There was many times where guys would
- 41:11Speaker 2: go like this and you could see change up, or
- 41:13Speaker 2: you could see fastball, and I could, but also I
- 41:15Speaker 2: was scared to death of going like, hey you change up,
- 41:17Speaker 2: change up, change up, because I knew I was gonna
- 41:19Speaker 2: get or they hit me or hit the guy hitting,
- 41:22Speaker 2: and it was like, okay, well I don't want to
- 41:23Speaker 2: do that.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Now.
- 41:24Speaker 2: You try to do sneaky sometimes about it and do
- 41:26Speaker 2: different things. But guys don't even try to hide it anymore.
- 41:29Speaker 2: And they're making obvious.
- 41:30Speaker 1: They're gonna be yelling soon. I mean, they've done it
- 41:32Speaker 1: so like Little.
- 41:33Speaker 2: League when the kid the kids are a second base,
- 41:34Speaker 2: like hi, hi, because he's you know, they only give
- 41:37Speaker 2: one sign. That's basically what we're doing now, yep, and
- 41:39Speaker 2: whatever I mean again.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Creates interesting storylines. Hey, we're back. A couple of Angels
- 41:45Speaker 1: moves from the weekend. Yon Mancata right knee inflammation. He's
- 41:50Speaker 1: on the I L and there are loud, loud chants,
- 41:52Speaker 1: perhaps even louder than the fans that are outside the
- 41:54Speaker 1: ballpark chanting parlory that they would like him to be released.
- 42:00Speaker 1: He's he's the guy. You know how most teams have
- 42:02Speaker 1: the guy if you're if you're not, or even if
- 42:03Speaker 1: you are playing well, fans like pick on a guy.
- 42:07Speaker 1: They love a guy. And there's a guy that they're like,
- 42:09Speaker 1: I don't want him on my team. He's the guy.
- 42:12Speaker 1: He's obviously not doing anything, and they keep signing him back.
- 42:15Speaker 1: He's one eight nine six oh five. Ohps blah blah blah.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I always hurt.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I mean, I won't even say always hurt.
- 42:22Speaker 4: Just watch the game. Just watch the game and be like, oh,
- 42:25Speaker 4: I'm an Angels fan. I can really get behind the
- 42:28Speaker 4: way Joan Moncatta plays the game.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Nah.
- 42:31Speaker 4: I can get behind Logan oh HOPI how he's playing
- 42:34Speaker 4: the game. I can get behind the effort level he's
- 42:36Speaker 4: putting in, even if his numbers are bad, Like, I
- 42:40Speaker 4: can get behind that. It's tough for me. So it
- 42:44Speaker 4: sometimes that Iyer is brought on from the fans and
- 42:48Speaker 4: it's unfortunate, but not not so for me. Not so
- 42:54Speaker 4: with Yoan Moncada.
- 42:57Speaker 1: It's a tough replacement for Anthony Rendon. You're going with
- 42:59Speaker 1: you on Mancata at third base.
- 43:01Speaker 2: That was the I just didn't understand why they brought
- 43:03Speaker 2: him back. Everyone's like, oh, he figured there's something out
- 43:05Speaker 2: last year. He wasn't great last year, then they brought
- 43:06Speaker 2: him back.
- 43:08Speaker 1: I remember seeing and even hearing that there were no
- 43:12Speaker 1: offers close, and somehow I don't understand it, Like you know,
- 43:16Speaker 1: other teams think he's a minor league deal or maybe
- 43:18Speaker 1: a million bucks and they're giving him four. Like, I
- 43:21Speaker 1: just don't get it. Where is that coming from? Lost
- 43:24Speaker 1: lost on that one? Anybody?
- 43:26Speaker 2: You know he's going to get hurt at least once
- 43:28Speaker 2: a year for a while.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah, anyone could have told you that was not going
- 43:30Speaker 1: to work out for this season and the other anybody, Yeah,
- 43:36Speaker 1: that would have been better. They know him well, went
- 43:38Speaker 1: for about the same price Josh Lowe was cut. You know,
- 43:42Speaker 1: he was in that three team trade in the off season.
- 43:45Speaker 1: He hasn't been able to find it since a couple
- 43:46Speaker 1: of years ago. Rock Burke was in that deal from
- 43:49Speaker 1: the off season and he's been pretty good for the Reds,
- 43:53Speaker 1: so they got something out of that. But yeah, move
- 43:56Speaker 1: through the Angels. It's it's been tough times for them.
- 43:58Speaker 1: They're one of the worst teams in the league.
- 44:00Speaker 2: It doesn't seem like anything the Angels do works out.
- 44:07Speaker 1: All right, let's do this's hot coinner, It's Padres Phillies
- 44:10Speaker 1: this week. Philly's pitching is so damn good right now
- 44:13Speaker 1: to Padres bats trying to figure it out. This is
- 44:16Speaker 1: not the series for that. So you have the Castianos
- 44:20Speaker 1: Bowl Philly media gonna ask him about, Hey, how you
- 44:24Speaker 1: feeling now, and he's looking over at his team. He's like,
- 44:28Speaker 1: all right, I'm on a playoff contender too, and ha's
- 44:31Speaker 1: my replacement doing frankly terirable. The Dolice Garcia has not
- 44:35Speaker 1: worked out. They've talked about how they're spending about thirty
- 44:37Speaker 1: million dollars on their right field situation between a Dolice
- 44:40Speaker 1: and the money they ate for castianas. So I he
- 44:42Speaker 1: didn't give much yet, right, but here's the note, Todd Seleti.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Who's legit Garcia defense?
- 44:54Speaker 3: Massive?
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yes, yes, there's definitely a difference there, of course. But
- 44:59Speaker 1: on offense, adut least is two of three, four homers,
- 45:02Speaker 1: fifteen RBI six or seven ops. Defensively he's plus three
- 45:06Speaker 1: that it's above average in the field. So some quotes
- 45:14Speaker 1: he said, you know, he talked about communication. They asked
- 45:17Speaker 1: how the communication here is different than Philly said quote,
- 45:20Speaker 1: I think you can fill in the blanks on that.
- 45:23Speaker 1: But when they put Don in the manager's seat, my
- 45:26Speaker 1: thought was, right man, right, spot right. He didn't get
- 45:28Speaker 1: along with Topper, with Rob Thompson. There was the you
- 45:32Speaker 1: didn't play kind of situation going there. Too that obviously
- 45:37Speaker 1: some people aren't going to like. And then Craig Stammon,
- 45:40Speaker 1: Padres manager, had some quotes Nixon asked for more communication
- 45:43Speaker 1: right from the beginning. We've tried to do our best
- 45:45Speaker 1: at times where we're perfect at it. I don't think
- 45:47Speaker 1: anybody's a perfect communicator, but especially in the new role,
- 45:49Speaker 1: we had it to a little extra. But everybody in
- 45:51Speaker 1: the coaching staff has been a big part of that
- 45:52Speaker 1: helped me out on that. I think we've got Nick
- 45:55Speaker 1: in a great spot right now. I mean he's not
- 45:57Speaker 1: tearing the cover off the ball. He is driving it runs,
- 46:00Speaker 1: he's got nineteen ribbies.
- 46:01Speaker 2: And I mean he didn't have a lot of a
- 46:03Speaker 2: bad so either.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Right, That's what I'm saying. So when he's up, he's
- 46:05Speaker 1: driving and runs.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Had a huge home run not long ago either. I mean, listen,
- 46:08Speaker 2: here's the thing about Nick. Nick. Nick is a very
- 46:10Speaker 2: open person. He's very upfront about things, and he'll tell
- 46:13Speaker 2: you where you stand. And he told the Phillies that
- 46:15Speaker 2: he wanted better communication and they weren't giving it to him,
- 46:17Speaker 2: so they released him. He ended up in San Diego.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Good for you. I mean, there's worst place to end
- 46:20Speaker 2: up in San Diego on a team that's pretty good.
- 46:22Speaker 2: So of course you know, when Philly comes back to
- 46:25Speaker 2: playing for the first time, these questions are going to
- 46:26Speaker 2: be asked. I thought he handled these very well. He
- 46:28Speaker 2: didn't really call anybody out as bad, I think, as
- 46:32Speaker 2: he probably wanted to. But I mean, he he fine.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I thought this was fine. I thought it were good
- 46:41Speaker 2: questions by the reporters. I thought he answered him well,
- 46:43Speaker 2: and I thought Craig Stammon with his answers were great too.
- 46:45Speaker 2: About you know, communication is never perfect, but he said, Nick,
- 46:48Speaker 2: that was all I ever asked for when I would
- 46:50Speaker 2: tell the hitting coach, like, if I'm struggling, just make
- 46:52Speaker 2: something up. Tell me something so I at least think
- 46:55Speaker 2: about something different, right, So just be honest with players.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Most players they'll hate what there was. I forget who
- 47:01Speaker 2: used to say, but there's an old saying like, if
- 47:03Speaker 2: you're honest with the player, they'll hate you for five minutes,
- 47:05Speaker 2: but they'll respect you. If you lie to him, they'll
- 47:08Speaker 2: hate you forever and not respect you. So which is true.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Just be honest. Hey, you're not playing very well. Here's
- 47:13Speaker 2: what you need to get better at. And the player
- 47:15Speaker 2: will argue, Ah, but then they'll think about it and
- 47:17Speaker 2: be like, you know what, they're right, and I need
- 47:18Speaker 2: to get better at ABC.
- 47:21Speaker 4: One of the things he said was, you know, the
- 47:23Speaker 4: whole beer and the dugout thing, like all his frustration
- 47:27Speaker 4: just boiled over. It wasn't his best moment that situation.
- 47:31Speaker 4: It was like up until that point, like if he
- 47:35Speaker 4: had frustrations that just boiled over in that moment. It
- 47:38Speaker 4: was clearly stuff that was going on while he was
- 47:42Speaker 4: still playing. He actually hadn't missed a game whatever his
- 47:45Speaker 4: streak was at the time, four hundred plus games in
- 47:48Speaker 4: a row, so it wasn't like he had pulled him
- 47:50Speaker 4: out of lineup. He didn't move down in the order.
- 47:53Speaker 4: He wasn't even playing a different position. And then the
- 47:56Speaker 4: first time they take him out and it boils over,
- 47:59Speaker 4: You're like, wait a minute, like what else was happening?
- 48:02Speaker 4: So clearly, yes, he wasn't playing very well last year
- 48:07Speaker 4: on the team, but clearly there was other things underlying
- 48:10Speaker 4: the fact that both Nick and Matt Strom both left
- 48:17Speaker 4: the team. And you know, you're like, well, both of
- 48:20Speaker 4: them had pretty prominent roles and when Nick got pissed
- 48:23Speaker 4: the whole Marlins thing, when he got taken out of
- 48:26Speaker 4: the game. It was like, well, you hadn't gotten taken
- 48:28Speaker 4: out out of the game at all the entire season.
- 48:31Speaker 3: So what was going on behind the scenes is my question.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and on the stat part, do you feel like
- 48:43Speaker 1: Castianos is just hated by modern analytics. Let's even take
- 48:48Speaker 1: the defense out of it for a moment, right, and
- 48:50Speaker 1: grading on defense, like I just mentioned, I mean, and
- 48:54Speaker 1: I've watched him many of his AB's this year, like
- 48:57Speaker 1: he's up, he drives in the run, but it doesn't
- 49:01Speaker 1: RBIs or crap. So like, let's let's let's show Nick Castianos.
- 49:04Speaker 2: You know, Nick Castianos, he has a knack for getting
- 49:07Speaker 2: big hits. And if you don't think so, look at
- 49:09Speaker 2: the Phillies last year in the playoffs. He was the
- 49:10Speaker 2: only one that could get a hit for.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but he drives in runs. I mean, he's like
- 49:14Speaker 1: the opposite of like a Sodo, right, who's going to
- 49:16Speaker 1: sit there drive? Well, he swing and counts and not
- 49:19Speaker 1: swing out of his own Castio swings and for a
- 49:22Speaker 1: league that loves swing decisions, and oh, you shouldn't pay
- 49:25Speaker 1: like it's going to hurt your quality of contact. Sure,
- 49:27Speaker 1: but not every hitter has made the same and you know,
- 49:29Speaker 1: when there's a guy on thirty drives him in, he does.
- 49:33Speaker 4: There's something that I think he is a better big
- 49:37Speaker 4: league player than people give him credit for. I think
- 49:41Speaker 4: when you sign a five year, one hundred million dollars deal,
- 49:44Speaker 4: I think there is a level of expectation that I
- 49:47Speaker 4: don't think his career one ten ops plus necessarily backs
- 49:53Speaker 4: up because analytically, they could care less about driving in
- 49:57Speaker 4: a run now and like people will argue, you know, no,
- 50:00Speaker 4: they do care about it. But there is a knack
- 50:02Speaker 4: to it. Good hitters are able to do it, and
- 50:05Speaker 4: the fact that Nick is able to do it and
- 50:08Speaker 4: has consistently been able to do it, there's a huge
- 50:12Speaker 4: value that he brings that will never show up on
- 50:14Speaker 4: the scoreboard, will never show up in his baseball reference.
- 50:17Speaker 4: It's just a stat line that doesn't isn't necessarily appreciated
- 50:22Speaker 4: as much as it should be.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I agree, Well said series continues this week. We'll see
- 50:27Speaker 1: how it goes. We'll be right back. Hey, former White
- 50:51Speaker 1: Sox manager Pedro Griffol remember him. He is the new
- 50:55Speaker 1: head coach at Florida International University in Miami. If I
- 51:00Speaker 1: use head baseball coach going from major league manager to
- 51:04Speaker 1: the college ranks.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Good luck, you know, I don't know. I don't know
- 51:10Speaker 2: how the recruiting is going to go with all that,
- 51:12Speaker 2: but good luck, because I mean everyone at the White
- 51:14Speaker 2: Sox that he wasn't the most personable guy in the world. Yep,
- 51:18Speaker 2: So good luck out on the recruiting trail, Pedro. I
- 51:20Speaker 2: hope you do well. Just don't win anybody try to
- 51:23Speaker 2: talk to anyone at FIU if you're an alumni that
- 51:26Speaker 2: used to know, because he will not like that.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Wait, alumni, that's what it took me a moment too, right,
- 51:37Speaker 1: no alumni involved.
- 51:38Speaker 2: If you're an alumni. If if I you and you
- 51:40Speaker 2: go back and there's like someone that works there still
- 51:43Speaker 2: from when you play, do not try and talk to
- 51:44Speaker 2: him because he will get angry. He is not He
- 51:48Speaker 2: does not like former players coming and talking to employees
- 51:51Speaker 2: that still work there from when they played. He did
- 51:53Speaker 2: not like that.
- 51:54Speaker 1: That would not be helpful at all.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Right now, God forbid if you former players get to
- 51:58Speaker 2: go talk to people that they spent like eight years
- 52:00Speaker 2: of their.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Life, especially if they had success.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Especially if they work in the video room, Like, oh man,
- 52:05Speaker 2: I'm going to get all your secrets, y'all should ask me,
- 52:08Speaker 2: because y'all couldn't hit for three years.
- 52:12Speaker 4: He has, he has a connection. He definitely has. Whatever
- 52:16Speaker 4: you think of him as a big league manager. You know,
- 52:18Speaker 4: I'm not I'm not on that. I'm not on that
- 52:21Speaker 4: hype train.
- 52:21Speaker 2: I never was.
- 52:22Speaker 4: But he's got the Miami connection. So maybe FIU says,
- 52:27Speaker 4: how do we get more players from Miami to come
- 52:30Speaker 4: here and not go to other schools, go to other
- 52:32Speaker 4: schools in the state, in the country, stay here in
- 52:35Speaker 4: f I uh you know, so maybe he's you know,
- 52:39Speaker 4: he's got that mascot gig that he's gonna be able
- 52:42Speaker 4: to kick around.
- 52:43Speaker 1: What's the Miami connection.
- 52:46Speaker 3: That's where he's He's like Miami Baseball in Miami.
- 52:50Speaker 2: He's Miami. Yeah.
- 52:51Speaker 4: I mean, if you talk to guys that are down there,
- 52:53Speaker 4: that's those are the guys that really like him. And
- 52:55Speaker 4: I'm assuming that's probably why he ended up, you know,
- 52:57Speaker 4: enough people banging the drum to be able to get
- 52:59Speaker 4: his big league job with the White Sox. You know,
- 53:02Speaker 4: it didn't work out, you know, not everybody. Just be
- 53:05Speaker 4: careful who you who you pump up to get a job,
- 53:08Speaker 4: because your name is also part of that when you say, hey,
- 53:12Speaker 4: you know, I think this guy should be the guy.
- 53:14Speaker 4: So but he's got that Miami connection. He does have that.
- 53:18Speaker 4: He has that cachet down there for sure.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Dylan Ceeese left hamstring stream injured list. If I told
- 53:27Speaker 1: you what the I l for, the arms of the
- 53:29Speaker 1: pop looked like, damn.
- 53:33Speaker 2: You.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I don't want to say, there's a good one. But
- 53:35Speaker 1: that's better than hearing elbow on hams suck.
- 53:39Speaker 3: It sucks, Yeah, forgot it.
- 53:42Speaker 4: You paid him, You paid him, and he because he
- 53:44Speaker 4: makes his starts, makes all his starts, and now he doesn't.
- 53:50Speaker 1: David Schneider options. They did that last year and it worked.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Remember he went down for six weeks last year and
- 53:59Speaker 1: then it was a big part through the finish line
- 54:01Speaker 1: for them. Nathan Lucas up, so some the new mavering
- 54:06Speaker 1: going on, and Schneider you know, mentioned that he came
- 54:10Speaker 1: back up and they said it he's a little reset here,
- 54:14Speaker 1: get some success, some consistent abs too, right. I don't
- 54:17Speaker 1: always play every day in that situation, and sometimes you
- 54:20Speaker 1: need it to get out of it, and the Blue
- 54:21Speaker 1: Jays can do that. You also need to buy him
- 54:24Speaker 1: from him. I mean he's a good attitude guy. Yeah,
- 54:27Speaker 1: of course, some guys would be pretty pissed.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Everybody's missed when young guys have to be nice.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, you would know Kratz. Yeah, everyone's pissed when
- 54:39Speaker 1: they're sent down.
- 54:39Speaker 4: But nobody's like, oh good, now I can get some
- 54:43Speaker 4: consistent abs. No, you want to be in the big leagues.
- 54:46Speaker 4: You want them to give you consistent a b's in
- 54:48Speaker 4: the big leagues. But you're part of the tune. Even
- 54:50Speaker 4: when he came back up, he just did well. He
- 54:52Speaker 4: still wasn't getting consistent AB's. He just did well.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Yep. Johnny de Luca hit the shelf for the Rays,
- 54:59Speaker 1: grade one right hamstring strand expected to miss hamstring suck.
- 55:04Speaker 1: He was playing pretty well for them. I mean, they'll
- 55:11Speaker 1: be fine.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Their offers signature in the game.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Johnny forgot about that.
- 55:23Speaker 2: I feel that is just a jake. Just I can't wait.
- 55:30Speaker 2: He already was on. We talked about that's what we did.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Yeah, of course we did. Uh. He's been great defensively
- 55:38Speaker 1: for them, and the bat's been good enough, I mean
- 55:39Speaker 1: about the league average bat right now, and you.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Have time to work on a signature now that he's
- 55:43Speaker 2: on the Ale that's right.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Well, because it's a hamstring, so he's he's got the
- 55:48Speaker 1: upper body. The upper body is one hundred percent. And lastly,
- 55:51Speaker 1: Cole Reagan's did not bounce back from his rehab start,
- 55:54Speaker 1: so they shut him down. That sucks. Royals can't afford
- 55:57Speaker 1: to not have a number one, number two.
- 56:00Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like col Reagan doesn't pits him forever.
- 56:12Speaker 1: All right, let's slap Chris Taylor.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Is he's retired.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Retired definitely.
- 56:22Speaker 1: He said it on his Instagram. It's real. I retired.
- 56:28Speaker 2: So again, I was there with the LA people on
- 56:30Speaker 2: Saturday when all this was going down. Okay, they were
- 56:35Speaker 2: talking about it, and they were saying that he retired
- 56:39Speaker 2: because he got hit. He broke his arm hitting I
- 56:41Speaker 2: guess broke his left farm and he wanted He's like,
- 56:43Speaker 2: I don't want to deal with the rehab. He's in
- 56:45Speaker 2: triple A anyway, so he's like, who cares, I'm going
- 56:47Speaker 2: to go home. But then then what they think, And
- 56:49Speaker 2: again I don't know this for a fact. His agent's like, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 56:52Speaker 2: you're gonna get You're still making some money here, you
- 56:55Speaker 2: keep playing. I get a little bit of that. Cuddy
- 56:57Speaker 2: cut and he's like, so you're not retire hiring, and
- 57:00Speaker 2: then Chris thought him. I was like, no, I'm not.
- 57:04Speaker 4: A few thousand dollars because you get paid while you're
- 57:07Speaker 4: hurt unless you retire.
- 57:11Speaker 1: So so he unretired, then he retired. Is it some
- 57:16Speaker 1: formal paperwork thing? But also then and then he's injured.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Well, but he just says I'm retiring and he goes
- 57:21Speaker 2: home and they're like, see, yeah.
- 57:23Speaker 3: Right, we don't just keep paying.
- 57:25Speaker 1: It got reported right.
- 57:27Speaker 2: You have to be there and show up and do
- 57:29Speaker 2: the stuff.
- 57:29Speaker 1: But he's not doing that. He's retired. So he decided,
- 57:32Speaker 1: I'm I don't care about my agent fee. I give
- 57:35Speaker 1: you again.
- 57:36Speaker 2: I don't know if that's true or not, but that
- 57:37Speaker 2: that seems like the logical How.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Else would it yet explained because he definitely retired. Then
- 57:43Speaker 1: there were reports that he was unretiring, and that was
- 57:45Speaker 1: out there. He wanted that out there, and then he
- 57:47Speaker 1: clarified it the next day and said, nope, I'm retiring.
- 57:49Speaker 1: It sounds like somebody who needs to join the show
- 57:52Speaker 1: at some point and give us the tea, because usually
- 57:55Speaker 1: it's pretty clear cut, like I'm tired.
- 58:00Speaker 4: What a great career too now that he's retired, and
- 58:02Speaker 4: then we celebrate his retirement and now not.
- 58:04Speaker 3: Maybe he just likes.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Birthday cake and you get a birthday cake when you retire,
- 58:07Speaker 4: so he got two birthday cakes.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Maybe that's what the people.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Yeah, birthday month, right, it's my retirement weekend. I did.
- 58:16Speaker 2: He didn't tour with all the stuff.
- 58:18Speaker 1: That's true. Alson Nick Anderson retired. Man, he had a
- 58:23Speaker 1: good run at one point thirty five years old. So
- 58:29Speaker 1: he's he's done one hundred and seventy three innings over
- 58:32Speaker 1: six seasons. Over usage, oh there you go.
- 58:38Speaker 3: Oh, I think he got I think he got the
- 58:40Speaker 3: most out of him.
- 58:40Speaker 4: So, I think I think he got the most out
- 58:42Speaker 4: of what he was throwing up there.
- 58:44Speaker 3: I think he did he over usage. Man, when you're
- 58:48Speaker 3: when you.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Get a shot and you don't throw a billion, you're
- 58:52Speaker 4: just throwing that invisible fastball at the top of the zone.
- 58:55Speaker 3: He did amazing. He did amazing.
- 58:59Speaker 4: I think he to me, I look at his career,
- 59:01Speaker 4: and I go, you got a lot out of it.
- 59:04Speaker 4: You got a lot out of your career. Some guys
- 59:06Speaker 4: are like, whoa that dude throws a billion? E Wait,
- 59:08Speaker 4: he made how many appearances didn't.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Get a lot out of it. Nick Anderson got a
- 59:12Speaker 3: lot out of it.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Twenty twenty raised World Series shortened season obviously, but nineteen appearances,
- 59:21Speaker 1: oh five to five era the usage part I was saying,
- 59:25Speaker 1: didn't he pitch like every game of that postseason.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Round for him?
- 59:28Speaker 1: I mean, we didn't have a whole season, but yeah.
- 59:32Speaker 7: He was wearing a mask, he was safe, he was fine,
- 59:34Speaker 7: he was fine. Yeah, that's definitely what I was talking about.
- 59:38Speaker 7: A couple other things before we jump out. Hot sheet
- 59:41Speaker 7: is coming up three o'clock East Coast time, and they
- 59:44Speaker 7: are talking about the NCAA tournament bracket following selection Monday yesterday, winners, losers, snubs, predictions, the.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Whole screwed, screw you know more about this stuff.
- 59:56Speaker 2: So tell me what Mercer big time screwed. Uh NC
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: State should not be in the tournament. Sorry, Kentucky should
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: not be in. Kentucky lost eight to ten SEC series
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: in the year and they got into the NCAA tournament.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Should not be in. Sorry. Mercer had like a thirty
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: thirty Yeah check got a two seed, which didn't make
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: sense either.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: How did they come up with this?
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: It's supposed to be our RPI strength to schedule this
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: whole thing. But they coach, the coach for NC State
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: said hey, I'm retiring at the end of the year
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: after thirty years. Like, oh, we'll give them one more.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: We'll throw this guy a bone out. U Tsa You
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: TSA and my son's conference in the American won the
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: regular season tournament, beat ECU in the tournament, lost to
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: him in the finals, won to nothing and they didn't
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: get in. Wow, they should have been into. They in
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Texas State got in and they beat they run ruled
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: them by like twenty during the year.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Right, Mercer State, did they win?
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: What do you mean? Well, no, they got an auto bid.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: They didn't.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: They didn't we got a yeah. Wow.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: So yeah, but like Mercer b Georgia Tech Mercer, Mercer
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: leads the nation Homers.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: They beat Troy who was in their conference, and Troy
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: got in and Mercer didn't.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Oh so this is good. This will be a good
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: hot shot and they're starting now. Yeah. On the way out,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: music ends mister Kratz Uh you got Italy.
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: Oh Australia, who's now the shrimp on the Bobby with
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: Travis Asana Kit his first dinger.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: He's looking good. He's gonna be a nice little table
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: sett a good player. Yeah. It helps when you're the
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Guardians and you're good and then the lottery lands you
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: the number one overall pick. It helps to create more
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: parody in the game.
