- 0:00Speaker 1: Today is a very special day.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:04Speaker 3: Happy Monday. And, of course, pick which one you like.
- 0:08Speaker 3: It's either Indigenous Peoples Day or Columbus Day. Use whichever
- 0:13Speaker 3: you're comfortable with. My wife and kids call it a
- 0:16Speaker 3: day off.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hooray!
- 0:18Speaker 3: It's also National Farmers Day. Wow. Thank you. Thank you.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Thank you. And bringing back my kids, they just started
- 0:25Speaker 3: on this this year. It's Harry Potter Book Day. Only
- 0:29Speaker 3: a couple of birthdays to note. One a blast from
- 0:32Speaker 3: the past. Remember the show Growing Pains? Kirk Cameron. is
- 0:36Speaker 3: 57 today. And the extremely talented Hugh Jackman is 58.
- 0:41Speaker 3: That's all I got for you. Happy Monday from the
- 0:44Speaker 3: Country 92.5 Morning Show. His calculations to Asia were way off.
- 0:50Speaker 3: This is kind of a dumb move. He claimed that
- 0:52Speaker 3: it was because the Earth was shaped like a pear,
- 0:56Speaker 3: thus making his mapping correct. Obviously, not right. That was
- 1:00Speaker 3: his whoopsie moment.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Well, that was the one oopsie moment.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, a lot of oopsie moments, but saying that. Oh,
- 1:07Speaker 3: it's pear-shaped, so it's actually accurate. Two of his ships
- 1:11Speaker 3: are not known for their actual names. Santa Maria, that's right.
- 1:14Speaker 3: All the ships had saint names, as was traditional. The
- 1:19Speaker 3: Nina was actually the Santa Clara, renamed in honor of
- 1:22Speaker 3: its owner, one Nina. But the Pinta was the Santa Cecilia.
- 1:27Speaker 3: That was nicknamed by the crew. Nina means a painted
- 1:31Speaker 3: lady or prostitute.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I told you last night I was out to dinner
- 1:39Speaker 2: with two of my girlfriends. One is a teacher. And
- 1:42Speaker 2: I was like, so how do you teach Columbus Day,
- 1:46Speaker 2: Indigenous Peoples Day in school now? And she basically was like, well,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I give them the facts and the truth. He thought
- 1:53Speaker 2: he was in the Indies. That's why he called the
- 1:56Speaker 2: people Indians. And basically he's an idiot and then gave
- 2:00Speaker 2: them flu and smallpox and all sorts of things.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Beat the hell out of them. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 2: So... Again, had they taught me that in high school,
- 2:09Speaker 2: I would have paid closer attention because I like the real, like,
- 2:14Speaker 2: that's dirt. That's drama.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the non-glossy version.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you get, yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 3: He sailed up on a ship named after a prostitute
- 2:22Speaker 3: and then beat the hell out of him. So, yeah, better.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Wasn't a good guy. Fascinating facts. Coming up next, it
- 2:29Speaker 3: is time for The Scoop with Amanda Jo. What you got?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Well, Lainey tore it up at Mohegan on Saturday night,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and she did something in concert for the first time.
- 2:41Speaker 2: We've got footage.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Coming up on the Country 92.5 Morning Show. Thanks for
- 2:45Speaker 3: hanging out with us, starting your Monday here on the
- 2:47Speaker 3: Country 92.5 Morning Show. My name is Damon, and here
- 2:50Speaker 3: with The Scoop, sponsored by Monaco Ford, Amanda Jo.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, over the weekend, Ella Langley chose Texas, but not Oklahoma.
- 2:59Speaker 2: She had a show Saturday night in Lubbock. But on
- 3:01Speaker 2: Friday night, she actually had to cancel the show in
- 3:04Speaker 2: Oklahoma because a bomb threat was made. It ended up
- 3:07Speaker 2: being false. But for the safety of everyone, she and
- 3:11Speaker 2: the venue put out like looking out for the people.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And then the local PD out there in Tulsa started saying, well,
- 3:19Speaker 2: we told her it was clear. It was OK. And
- 3:21Speaker 2: I mean, she stands by her decision. And honestly, like
- 3:24Speaker 2: once something like that goes up the chain, I mean,
- 3:27Speaker 2: you can't on your conscience like do something.
- 3:30Speaker 3: She said flat out, I'd do it a million times over.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah. So Ella says.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Snaps.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Lainey Wilson, she was at Mohegan part of the 30th
- 3:40Speaker 2: anniversary celebration on Saturday night. And on Friday, we had
- 3:44Speaker 2: a new song for New Music Fri-Yay, Kinda Love It. Well,
- 3:48Speaker 2: for the first time ever, she performed it at Mohegan
- 3:51Speaker 2: on Saturday.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Nice.
- 3:52Speaker 2: If you want to watch that. And we also got footage.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Our girl Jessica, who does nights for us here, or middays.
- 3:59Speaker 2: She used to be on nights, right?
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:02Speaker 2: She's on middays now. Jessica was there on Saturday night
- 4:05Speaker 2: and she got footage of that and she got footage
- 4:08Speaker 2: of the cowgirl of the night. I will say I
- 4:11Speaker 2: was texting her the whole time going, John Mayer, is
- 4:13Speaker 2: he there?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Is he there?
- 4:14Speaker 2: There was no John Mayer appearance. I was hoping, but
- 4:17Speaker 2: I mean, really cool that she... She did that.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Pretty star-studded event, though. I saw some red carpet stuff,
- 4:23Speaker 3: and 50 Cent was there, and a lot of notables
- 4:26Speaker 3: came to celebrate that anniversary.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Go show. Oh, it's going all month long. I know.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Check out footage of Lainey, though, on our Insta, Country92. 5.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Coming up next, our feel-good story. I'm going to toss
- 4:36Speaker 3: it back to Amanda Joga. She knows the main details
- 4:39Speaker 3: on it. This is one of your babies for... spooky season.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Well, there's a couple layers to this. We have a
- 4:46Speaker 2: medium by the name of Karen that we're going to
- 4:49Speaker 2: be talking in the 7 o'clock hour, but we have
- 4:52Speaker 2: a party coming up that we have to cover first
- 4:55Speaker 2: at 640 for the feel good. Why you should get
- 4:58Speaker 2: involved with.
- 4:58Speaker 3: The Hartford Elks. She will explain in 15 minutes here
- 5:03Speaker 3: on the Country 92.5 Morning Show. Happy Monday.
- 5:07Speaker 2: The Hartford Elks are going to be throwing a haunted
- 5:10Speaker 2: herd Halloween party. Now, the Elks organization as a whole.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Let me get you up to speed. Spends over $ 80
- 5:17Speaker 2: million annually on educational scholarships, youth programs, veteran service. The
- 5:21Speaker 2: Hartfield Elks really lean hard into youth programs and veterans.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And food banks. They do a lot of stuff with
- 5:29Speaker 3: food banks.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And this party, some of the donations are obviously going
- 5:32Speaker 2: to go to a lot of the charities that the
- 5:35Speaker 2: Hartford Elks are involved in. And... Should you attend the party,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you should bring a canned food item that will go
- 5:41Speaker 2: to the Hartford Food Pantry. So we're going to be
- 5:43Speaker 2: doing this party with the Elks on the 30th. I
- 5:46Speaker 2: will get all the ticket information up for you on
- 5:49Speaker 2: our Insta. But if you didn't know, the Elks is haunted.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Big time.
- 5:57Speaker 2: The Hartford Elks is very haunted.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Been on TV shows, been documented. It's... It's got its
- 6:03Speaker 3: share of spooks in there.
- 6:04Speaker 2: And this Friday, we're actually going to go on a
- 6:08Speaker 2: haunted tour with our friend Karen. Readings by Karen. She's
- 6:11Speaker 2: a great medium. She is going to lead the hunt.
- 6:16Speaker 2: If you want to get in on it, head on
- 6:17Speaker 2: over to our Insta. There's a post up there now.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Country 92.5. She actually suggested using me as a dummy
- 6:25Speaker 2: because one of the ghosts. Now, it's not as it was,
- 6:29Speaker 2: but the Elks used to not take women.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And that ghost is very much the same of the mind. Yeah.
- 6:35Speaker 2: So it's been known that sometimes the ghost will yell,
- 6:38Speaker 2: get out at women or like pulled a female bartender's hair. So, yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 2: I'm a little nervous, but we're actually going to catch
- 6:45Speaker 2: up with Karen coming up in the seven o'clock hour
- 6:48Speaker 2: to talk more about. The venue, we're going to be
- 6:51Speaker 2: at it Friday, but the party is going to be
- 6:54Speaker 2: on the 30th. I will get all that detail up
- 6:56Speaker 2: for you. The Elks, again, a great organization.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That's why it's a feel good story. If you come
- 7:01Speaker 3: to the party, you are helping them in their mission
- 7:03Speaker 3: and therefore a key part in making this a feel
- 7:06Speaker 3: good story.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And maybe you want to join the Elks. I keep
- 7:11Speaker 2: saying dating apps suck. You want to get involved and
- 7:14Speaker 2: meet people that want to do good things in their community.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Find a social organization you can get in with. Elks
- 7:19Speaker 2: is a great one. Just saying.
- 7:21Speaker 3: So we'll talk more about it as the morning goes
- 7:23Speaker 3: on because spooky season is here. And we love it
- 7:27Speaker 3: on the Country 92.5. it's the morning show monday october
- 7:36Speaker 3: the 12th 648 time for the headlines real quick simple
- 7:40Speaker 3: stuff my name is damon and here's amanda joe to.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Do the headlines weather today a mix of sun and
- 7:45Speaker 2: clouds a little windy with highs in the low 70s
- 7:47Speaker 2: football yukon beat temple 34 to 20 they next play
- 7:51Speaker 2: this is gonna be a big game umass friday october
- 7:55Speaker 2: 23rd at the rent 7 p.m i might have to
- 7:58Speaker 2: go to that game I have to go to that game.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You should. It's a biggie. It's going to be a
- 8:02Speaker 3: good one. When's that, the 23rd?
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's the 23rd. It's a Friday Night Lights game.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Woof, woof.
- 8:07Speaker 2: NFL, teams Connecticut might cheer for. Good all around. Pats
- 8:11Speaker 2: beat the Raiders 45-17. Jets beat the Browns 17-12. And
- 8:16Speaker 2: the New York Giants tied the Washington Commanders 27-27. And
- 8:21Speaker 2: what did you say? What does that do with the stats?
- 8:23Speaker 2: They get like a half win, half loss.
- 8:24Speaker 3: They both have to have a half win, half loss
- 8:27Speaker 3: on their on their ultimate record.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And the Hartford Marathon on Saturday, the weather was pristine.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Let me tell you, I undertrained the farthest training run
- 8:39Speaker 2: I did for a half marathon was five miles. My lungs, though,
- 8:43Speaker 2: felt great. It was just perfect weather. Connor Lundy from Yonkers,
- 8:49Speaker 2: New York won for the men in Rachel Schilkowski from Providence,
- 8:53Speaker 2: Rhode Island. Back to back titles for her. Just to
- 8:57Speaker 2: give you a perspective, I finished my half marathon 13.1
- 9:01Speaker 2: miles and I even took a potty stop. So I'll
- 9:04Speaker 2: say probably was about 237 because the final time was 239,
- 9:08Speaker 2: but at least took me like two minutes to stop.
- 9:11Speaker 2: This Rachel lady did 233. So, like, she did double, 26.2. Yeah, but...
- 9:19Speaker 2: I mean, she trained for it.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Good for both of you.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'm finished. I'm finished. But now that my, again, my
- 9:25Speaker 2: lungs felt so great, I'm going, had I trained better,
- 9:30Speaker 2: I probably could have done a 220.
- 9:32Speaker 3: I'm proud of you either way.
- 9:33Speaker 1: We all are.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Next year. Next year.
- 9:35Speaker 3: You've done it.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You want to do it with me next year?
- 9:37Speaker 3: No.
- 9:37Speaker 2: No.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Not interested whatsoever.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I was trying to prime him.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I was trying to prime him.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Who wants to run with me next year? At the Elks,
- 9:46Speaker 2: a notoriously haunted building in Connecticut. If you would like
- 9:51Speaker 2: a pair of tickets, bust this Google.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Less than half of states will do this for their
- 9:57Speaker 3: employees today.
- 9:58Speaker 1: That's the question.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Less than half of states will do what for their
- 10:03Speaker 3: employees today? You want to come to the party? Heck yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 1: 860-249-9250.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Bust the Google and you and a friend are in
- 10:12Speaker 3: for free. Country 92.5. Happy Monday.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Who's this?
- 10:16Speaker 3: George. George. Want to come to the party?
- 10:19Speaker 2: I would love to.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Okay, then let's earn our way in, shall we, George?
- 10:23Speaker 3: Less than half of states will do this for their
- 10:27Speaker 3: employees today. George, do what?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Give them the day off.
- 10:31Speaker 3: No, George, I'm sorry.
- 10:33Speaker 1: That was.
- 10:34Speaker 3: No, that was a good answer. Unfortunately, all state employees
- 10:38Speaker 3: and all the states get it.
- 10:39Speaker 2: He was kind of banking on that wrong answer.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Something else, though. But thank you, George. You get ready
- 10:44Speaker 3: to call back because Amanda Jo here has a clue
- 10:47Speaker 3: for you.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Damon was banking on that wrong answer. But my
- 10:51Speaker 2: clue is ka-ching, ka-ching.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Banking. Ka-ching, ka-ching.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Come on.
- 10:58Speaker 3: You want into the big Halloween party? Then call us
- 11:01Speaker 3: now with the right answer. 860-249-9250. And you're in for free.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Country 92.5. Hello, who's this? Haley, you want to go
- 11:12Speaker 3: to the haunted Halloween party at the spooky Elks Lodge?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Well, then let's do it, Haley. Less than half of
- 11:20Speaker 3: states are going to do this for their employees today.
- 11:24Speaker 3: George got through first.
- 11:25Speaker 1: He said, give them the day off.
- 11:28Speaker 3: No, that's not what we needed. Amanda Jo had a clue.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Ka-ching, ka-ching.
- 11:33Speaker 3: For the tickets, Haley.
- 11:35Speaker 2: What?
- 11:36Speaker 3: What is the answer? Pay them for today. That's the key.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's the Country 92.5 Morning Show.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And this Friday, we're going on a ghost hunt at
- 11:51Speaker 2: the Hartford Elks. Super haunted and leading the charge, our
- 11:55Speaker 2: friend Karen Hollis.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Psychic, medium, and ghost hunter too.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:01Speaker 3: What do you know about the Elks Lodge? Because, I mean,
- 12:04Speaker 3: that sucker's been around for a long time. There are
- 12:07Speaker 3: lots of tales of things going on in that joint.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Well, the Elks Lodge No. 19 was founded in 1868,
- 12:17Speaker 4: and it was the first lodge that was actually built
- 12:20Speaker 4: for the Elks. We know there was one death on
- 12:23Speaker 4: the fire escape, and we feel that he haunts the
- 12:26Speaker 4: Elks Lodge, but it's incredibly haunted. It has been featured
- 12:31Speaker 4: on TAPS, the television show. It's pretty amazing when you
- 12:35Speaker 4: go in there. Furniture moved, ghostly voices, whispers, a man
- 12:40Speaker 4: who walks by the window on the outside of the
- 12:43Speaker 4: accountant's office and you go look and he's not there.
- 12:46Speaker 2: So should I be bringing my amethyst and my sage
- 12:49Speaker 2: and all sorts of things? Bring it all since you're
- 12:52Speaker 2: going to need it. What is this ghost hunt that
- 12:53Speaker 2: we're going to do on Friday entail? Well, for your
- 12:55Speaker 2: lucky listeners who get to go on the ghost hunt...
- 12:58Speaker 2: We're going to go dark, as they say. And so
- 13:01Speaker 2: people are going to be following me upstairs to the
- 13:04Speaker 2: haunted lodge room. And we're going to be asking some questions.
- 13:09Speaker 2: We're going to allow one of your special listeners to
- 13:12Speaker 2: sit in the exalted ruler's chair. Ooh, I'm getting goosebumps.
- 13:16Speaker 4: And we're going to see if that evokes any kind
- 13:19Speaker 4: of a response.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Okay, so Damon knows I'm not a toucher. I don't
- 13:23Speaker 2: really like doing the whole hug thing, but you're probably
- 13:26Speaker 2: going to have to hold my hand and I might
- 13:27Speaker 2: have to bring it to pens. I'm just saying.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Listen, I've heard there have been incidents of pinching and whatnot,
- 13:32Speaker 3: and so I'm hoping to get some action there. I've
- 13:34Speaker 3: been married a long time.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Karen, we're really looking forward to this ghost hunt on Friday.
- 13:40Speaker 2: If you want to get in on this, head on
- 13:42Speaker 2: over to our social country, 92.5. We are going to
- 13:46Speaker 2: have a spooky good time this Friday night.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Back we go to 2022 when the kids were much
- 13:52Speaker 3: younger and apparently Tucker was already pranking his sister. Here
- 13:57Speaker 3: we go with today's joke.
- 13:58Speaker 1: All right, here we go. I put aloe vera on Tessa's.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Toothbrush, Dad.
- 14:02Speaker 1: What?
- 14:03Speaker 2: Aloe vera, aloe vera.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Now it tastes like aloe vera.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Joke time.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Figure out this joke on a Monday. What kind of
- 14:13Speaker 1: bird sticks to a sweater? What kind of bird sticks
- 14:17Speaker 1: to a sweater? Wow. Let's find out if Amanda Jo
- 14:21Speaker 1: has any idea on this one.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Doubt it.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 14:24Speaker 3: He was slamming you back then. Doubt it. Dang.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So it's a type. Is it a type of bird?
- 14:30Speaker 3: Sure is. But its name has to be modified for
- 14:33Speaker 3: it to stick to a sweater.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Static.
- 14:35Speaker 1: No.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Lint?
- 14:36Speaker 2: No.
- 14:37Speaker 3: She's going to need your help, guys.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Crows.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Oh, wait.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Sticks to things. You're so close.
- 14:43Speaker 2: It has to do with a crow?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Would you please call and give her the answer? Because
- 14:49Speaker 3: I've done all I can do here. I need you. 860-249-9250.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Don't worry. You'll go, oh, of course. Call her and
- 14:58Speaker 3: help her out. No prize, but sure appreciate it. Here
- 15:02Speaker 3: you come to save the day.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Who's this?
- 15:05Speaker 2: I got the answer from Amanda.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I think she should have figured this one out, though.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I really do.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So do I. What kind of bird sticks to a sweater?
- 15:14Speaker 2: How about, Amanda, how about Velcro?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Tessa Grace. What's up, Dad? What kind of bird sticks
- 15:20Speaker 1: to a sweater? Hmm.
- 15:21Speaker 3: A Velcro.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Velcro.
