- 0:07Speaker 1: Domb Shinbahne play guitar and I'm joined by over here
- 0:14Speaker 1: in ad.
- 0:17Speaker 2: So where he's so.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Just getting very close to the launch kick for our
- 0:23Speaker 1: debut album, The Nerves Latin.
- 0:26Speaker 2: So I'm very excited.
- 0:27Speaker 1: About that dropping and everyone getting to hear that and
- 0:31Speaker 1: just saying that, yeah, however, whatever one's singing, how everyone's
- 0:35Speaker 1: the joys of songs and yeah, looking at making a
- 0:39Speaker 1: bit of a debt in the Brisbane scene.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Fantastic guys, thanks for joining us. Tonight has recently released
- 0:48Speaker 3: the first track off your debut album and land Him
- 0:53Speaker 3: Poored Trace.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So how was a reception for That's been great so far,
- 0:59Speaker 1: being into pretty good feedback.
- 1:01Speaker 2: We think that's you know, certainly that.
- 1:03Speaker 1: One goes over world live and since people crossed over track,
- 1:08Speaker 1: you know, it's been a great heavy groove underpinning it.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Also got some good melodies in there, so it seems
- 1:15Speaker 1: to be you know, definitely a toe taper.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Sparking some interest and certainly playing that one live.
- 1:24Speaker 1: That's normally when we see a lot of people come
- 1:26Speaker 1: from the outside of the room gravitating what's going on,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:29Speaker 3: So yeah, nice, So that that was your debut song, guy,
- 1:34Speaker 3: So it's basically introduced the band to the world musically, Like,
- 1:38Speaker 3: why did you let that song to do it? Was
- 1:40Speaker 3: it that all you had at the time, or was
- 1:41Speaker 3: it there a selection process behind it?
- 1:45Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I think that was kind of decided for us by
- 1:49Speaker 1: one of the other other band members really, so that's
- 1:52Speaker 1: been a favorite.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So you know, we love playing that one line.
- 1:57Speaker 1: That's usually always the second one of the set, so
- 2:00Speaker 1: that succeedably. Guy naturally came out to be the first
- 2:04Speaker 1: one that we thought we'd put out there. As a said,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I think it's going to want to cross over a bill.
- 2:08Speaker 2: So we thought that would resonate for a lot of people.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Were so dive into the song a bit more mutually.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Guy, it's just that sure, we've got to judge on
- 2:16Speaker 3: the way, but like, what are you actually going for
- 2:18Speaker 3: with that one?
- 2:19Speaker 2: You want to talk aboubout Boss?
- 2:21Speaker 5: I guess it's the song itself is probably just.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Describing a bit of a failed or toxic.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Type relationship that's failed. The elements of the song, as
- 2:36Speaker 5: student Bohm is saying, it just has a bit of
- 2:38Speaker 5: a all the elements of what his is about. We've
- 2:41Speaker 5: got some heavy, you know, verse riffs, some melodic changes
- 2:46Speaker 5: with some good harmonies and a bit of some aggressive,
- 2:50Speaker 5: yeah lyrics over the top, but that sort of painted
- 2:53Speaker 5: picture and something that we.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Feel people connecting with, you.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Know, whether it's something that's going on in their lives
- 3:01Speaker 5: or it's just something that they connect with musically as well.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So that's pretty much in an upshell really yeah good.
- 3:10Speaker 3: So is that a good sonic representation of what do
- 3:13Speaker 3: you expect from the whole album?
- 3:15Speaker 1: I think that's a good introduction, But I'd say we're
- 3:18Speaker 1: that and more so, I think that the music itself
- 3:21Speaker 1: is quite very definitely on the heavy spectrum. Wherever you
- 3:23Speaker 1: think from you know, melodic, we get a bit frashy,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and we'll also not.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Showing away from showing the Mela side of us as well.
- 3:34Speaker 3: So, and you know, Latin is your debut album, guy,
- 3:40Speaker 3: So as a new band coming on the scene, what
- 3:43Speaker 3: sorts of things do you think about discuss going into
- 3:45Speaker 3: your debut album?
- 3:49Speaker 1: What we discussed going into it. Definitely the track listing, Yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 1: what was the right order of what was going to
- 3:56Speaker 1: resonate with people, what was going to gel well and
- 3:59Speaker 1: come out together. So I'm looking at it from a
- 4:01Speaker 1: sonic output point of view, you know what's going to
- 4:05Speaker 1: trigger things from people. Like I said, it's got some
- 4:07Speaker 1: heavy moments, it's got some mal own moments. Once again,
- 4:11Speaker 1: just drawing back to that that crossover a peal. I
- 4:13Speaker 1: think there's gonna be something in there for everyone just
- 4:16Speaker 1: just to add to it too.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I think we focus a lot on what what our
- 4:21Speaker 5: set will show will look like. So, you know, I
- 4:25Speaker 5: guess as you know, you see bands and there's a
- 4:27Speaker 5: lot of great bands out there doing what they do,
- 4:30Speaker 5: but it's always nice to spend a bit more time
- 4:32Speaker 5: and effort to put it on a bit of a
- 4:34Speaker 5: show for people as well, just to have a bit
- 4:37Speaker 5: of a championship and bring bring people in from from
- 4:40Speaker 5: the first note right to the last note. So we
- 4:44Speaker 5: have a bit of a focus on on what that
- 4:45Speaker 5: looks like.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and a bit of a bit of.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Fun, you know, a bit of fun along.
- 4:50Speaker 3: The way, sweet as and written through your press. Really
- 4:54Speaker 3: so you're guys to be labeled as a grungy, garage
- 4:57Speaker 3: metal punch.
- 4:59Speaker 4: So are all of those influences that are sprinkled throughout
- 5:01Speaker 4: the album.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Definitely definitely, like I mean, the influences of the band.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Members, and I'm not saying.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We do we sound like these bands, but you know
- 5:12Speaker 1: where everything from you know, Whiskey Town to Barrio Soul
- 5:17Speaker 1: in your Orders to Nam Death the Cures of the Color.
- 5:20Speaker 1: So it's a mixed bag of you know, like a
- 5:23Speaker 1: grudgey post punk, you know, thrashy type of sound with
- 5:28Speaker 1: some at times in the overtime.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So it's a bit of a mixed bag.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And I think, you know, also, I guess represented by
- 5:36Speaker 1: the individual looks of the band are quite unique as well,
- 5:39Speaker 1: so to compliment that, so I guess live and can
- 5:43Speaker 1: obviously see bonos in costume here. I think we you know,
- 5:47Speaker 1: that really resonates with people. You're getting something that's a
- 5:50Speaker 1: little bit different from what's out there, and we think
- 5:53Speaker 1: that's also going to attract people.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yeah, well the pros of this actually says like to
- 5:59Speaker 3: get a feel of what his sound like, got to
- 6:01Speaker 3: imagine Alison Chains meets Helmet with a dash of sex,
- 6:04Speaker 3: pistols and Slayer that.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Sounds like one hell of a bastard love child and me.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It's a bit of a melty pipe.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It's a bit of a one song there where we
- 6:15Speaker 1: didn't forget that's our Slayer and just some feedback from
- 6:18Speaker 1: other people and.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Want of early hitting. Someone came up to us. They
- 6:21Speaker 2: said to us, we're trying and work out when you
- 6:23Speaker 2: sound like a Right at the end, the guy goes,
- 6:25Speaker 2: You're like Helmet meets Alison James. I thought, I'll like
- 6:28Speaker 2: both of those bands.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I'll take it.
- 6:32Speaker 3: There's so many influences and so many different sounds coming through,
- 6:35Speaker 3: Like how do you find the balance in the in
- 6:37Speaker 3: the creative process, Like how do you know when you've
- 6:38Speaker 3: gone too far in one direction or not far enough
- 6:41Speaker 3: in another?
- 6:43Speaker 5: The writing process is an interesting one, and our main
- 6:51Speaker 5: songwriter isn't here tonight Oscar. However, I think that might
- 6:57Speaker 5: be a question that he needs to answer. But it
- 7:00Speaker 5: generally works that he provides the music and then the
- 7:05Speaker 5: lyrics are generally.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Then, you know, work into the to the music.
- 7:11Speaker 5: That's that's usually the process, and really there's generally only
- 7:16Speaker 5: the minor tweaks to the original track that's produced in
- 7:20Speaker 5: the first place.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Oscar definitely comes in with the framework how it's gonna
- 7:26Speaker 1: sad we've been over time. A part of a tweaking
- 7:28Speaker 1: process is to add a few little flavors on top
- 7:31Speaker 1: of you, like but who knows what's going through his head,
- 7:34Speaker 1: because some of the songs take a certainly some unexpected
- 7:39Speaker 1: turns and might be conventional songwriting or you know, the
- 7:44Speaker 1: path of the listener might think the song is going
- 7:46Speaker 1: to take, and that keeps things interesting as well.
- 7:49Speaker 2: A lot of in there.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Now.
- 7:52Speaker 3: You've got an album launch party this Saturday of March
- 7:55Speaker 3: the twenty ninth at Greece the Bar in Brisbane with
- 7:57Speaker 3: Tony Hawk and Deadways.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Sounds like a lot of fun.
- 8:01Speaker 2: It's going to be.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It's going to be a celebration of the last two
- 8:04Speaker 1: and a big years and just the coroination of everyone's
- 8:08Speaker 1: efforts and assistance and hard work, you know.
- 8:11Speaker 2: So it's all going to come together on the night.
- 8:14Speaker 1: We've got some merch now locked in and we've done
- 8:17Speaker 1: we're at the seven inch line on the hot pink
- 8:19Speaker 1: there that will have available there, so we won't really
- 8:23Speaker 1: see this until the gigs. An exclusive for everybody that
- 8:27Speaker 1: turns up. There's going to be so we're playing agrees
- 8:30Speaker 1: that there. We played there before and we definitely knew
- 8:34Speaker 1: that was where we wanted to do the launch and
- 8:36Speaker 1: we'll say we've got something down on the ben. You's
- 8:38Speaker 1: going to be his cocktail of the night as well,
- 8:41Speaker 1: so you know, they've partnered up with us to really
- 8:45Speaker 1: make it a Hiss theme and so you know, and
- 8:48Speaker 1: that's just going to even add adiable to.
- 8:50Speaker 2: The night as well. So we're looking forward.
- 8:52Speaker 1: To you know, the people that know what's coming down
- 8:55Speaker 1: and hopefully a few people that haven't seen this before
- 8:59Speaker 1: we've done it. Quite a few people probably think we're
- 9:01Speaker 1: spamming the Brisbane socials at the moment. We're all seen
- 9:04Speaker 1: to be all labor and people are noticing it, but
- 9:06Speaker 1: that's what it's all about. So yeah, we're looking forward
- 9:08Speaker 1: to having a big nine and finally getting the album
- 9:12Speaker 1: out there to everyone and you know, just enjoying it
- 9:16Speaker 1: and yeah, and going from there.
- 9:19Speaker 4: You've left out one key point mate, Guess what it is?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Free entry.
- 9:25Speaker 4: You don't have to pay to get in. Free entry.
- 9:27Speaker 2: We're looking for it, so that should be more reason
- 9:30Speaker 2: for people to turn up.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Now you got any more shows planned after that, mate?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Or are you just started taking things as they come.
- 9:38Speaker 2: We've got something later in the year lined up that
- 9:40Speaker 2: we can't quite talk about.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I think it's about officially announced yet, but that's going
- 9:44Speaker 1: to be like a winning metal festival I think slated
- 9:47Speaker 1: for late in October, so.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Hopefully that should be announced in the next week. We're
- 9:53Speaker 2: also you know, there.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Has been approp This whole process is also even involving
- 9:57Speaker 1: networking with other bands as well, so over our two
- 10:01Speaker 1: doing a big year journey or so coming across other
- 10:04Speaker 1: bands that we want to partner up with and find
- 10:06Speaker 1: those right gigs and jump on some right bills there.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So there's some talk in the works. They're getting on
- 10:11Speaker 1: some things with some local bands as well, so we'll
- 10:15Speaker 1: probably take one of two month break after this album
- 10:20Speaker 1: launch gig and then things will start to heat up
- 10:23Speaker 1: for the getting towards the second half of the year.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Very nice And where can people keep up with his
- 10:28Speaker 4: or buy some of your stuff?
- 10:31Speaker 1: So we're on Facebook, that's at his Brisbane. We're on
- 10:37Speaker 1: recently joining Instagram, I think that's his music AU.
- 10:40Speaker 2: We're on our YouTube.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Where are streaming platforms are hopefully by the end of
- 10:47Speaker 1: this week or maybe on the day of the gig,
- 10:51Speaker 1: so we're on there. You'll see a plus all across
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Brisbane socials as well.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Very nice guys. All right, well thanks you're time being
- 10:59Speaker 3: to pleasure chat with you. Album launch is at GREECEA
- 11:02Speaker 3: this day of the twenty ninth albums should be out
