- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome into jags Am today. I'm kind Annie Stephens, Brian Sexton,
- 0:19Speaker 1: John Osier with me as we talk about another Jaguars
- 0:22Speaker 1: win while also looking ahead to a challenge this week
- 0:25Speaker 1: as they face off against the Jets. Let's give you
- 0:27Speaker 1: our big Things for today, brought to you by g
- 0:29Speaker 1: EAHA Government Employees Health Association. Big Thing number one is
- 0:33Speaker 1: leading the way. We put a lot of pressure on
- 0:35Speaker 1: the trenches on this team, and we should give some
- 0:37Speaker 1: credit where it's due. The offensive line has looked excellent
- 0:40Speaker 1: lately and with some rotating pieces in there, specifically Cold
- 0:43Speaker 1: Van Lannon. Brian the quarterback didn't get touched in the
- 0:46Speaker 1: game against excuse me, the game against the Cults on Sunday,
- 0:50Speaker 1: and a lot of that due to what the offensive
- 0:52Speaker 1: line was able to do.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Without a doubt.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And listen, leave it alone as long as you don't
- 0:56Speaker 3: have other injuries. If you don't, by the way, that's
- 0:59Speaker 3: a great sun for this team's prospects into January.
- 1:02Speaker 2: But leave it alone.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Colvan Lannon is playing as well as any of your
- 1:06Speaker 3: offensive lineman right now. And forget the fact that he's
- 1:08Speaker 3: played at four different positions. He's just playing great football.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Leave him in place. And by the way, I don't
- 1:13Speaker 3: think I need to plead the case. I think the
- 1:15Speaker 3: Jaguars brass knows he's one of those guys.
- 1:17Speaker 2: John.
- 1:18Speaker 3: You just got to find a way to keep him
- 1:19Speaker 3: on the field. No matter what he does for you,
- 1:22Speaker 3: he's doing it really well.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he's been remarkable. Teams talk these days about having
- 1:29Speaker 4: eight starting offensive linemen.
- 1:31Speaker 5: Most teams don't.
- 1:32Speaker 4: This team feels like it's got six, seven or eight,
- 1:35Speaker 4: and Colvan Land's a big reason for that. He might
- 1:37Speaker 4: be two or three of them by himself. Look the
- 1:40Speaker 4: offensive line this year. No offensive line has perfect seventeen games,
- 1:46Speaker 4: but over a thirteen game period, this group has been
- 1:51Speaker 4: good and really good far more often than not.
- 1:53Speaker 3: And you know, a great example of this guy, and
- 1:54Speaker 3: we saw it. I'm sure a lot of people watch
- 1:56Speaker 3: the Texans Chiefs on Sunday night because of the implications
- 1:59Speaker 3: to the Jaguars, and you saw. I mean the Chiefs
- 2:02Speaker 3: were down to backups, had four of five spots and
- 2:05Speaker 3: then lost the backup at left tackle right they were
- 2:08Speaker 3: on their third left tackle and they couldn't do anything
- 2:11Speaker 3: all night long. So the importance of the offensive line
- 2:14Speaker 3: is impossible to overstate.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Absolutely I think Colvid Landon's earned a spot on the
- 2:18Speaker 1: roster wherever that's going to be at this point. He
- 2:20Speaker 1: was at left tackle last week. So our second big
- 2:22Speaker 1: thing is going to be big play day. We talked
- 2:24Speaker 1: a ton about getting the deep ball going and what
- 2:27Speaker 1: we wanted to see there. Brian Thomas Junior had some
- 2:29Speaker 1: big catches in the game and kind of flashing, showing
- 2:32Speaker 1: what we know he's capable of. Liam Cohan talked a
- 2:35Speaker 1: little bit about Btj's confidence.
- 2:37Speaker 6: I think just getting healthier, right Like as a wide
- 2:40Speaker 6: out and you got an ankle like, that's just it's hard.
- 2:43Speaker 6: It's hard to feel confident probably going out and cutting
- 2:46Speaker 6: and running and stopping and making plays. And I think
- 2:51Speaker 6: right now he just feels better, he feels healthier. He's
- 2:55Speaker 6: been practicing hard, he's been practicing full speed. He's him
- 3:02Speaker 6: in the quarterback and Trevor have worked at it like
- 3:05Speaker 6: they've worked, They put time into it, and it showed
- 3:09Speaker 6: up yesterday in a big way for us. That's an
- 3:11Speaker 6: area of our offense that has been much needed, and
- 3:16Speaker 6: to have his show up yesterday was such a good
- 3:18Speaker 6: thing to see.
- 3:22Speaker 1: John Brian obviously had a great game on the field,
- 3:24Speaker 1: we hear he's practicing better. Also that I think the
- 3:27Speaker 1: influence that we've seen it from Jacoby Meyers, addition to
- 3:30Speaker 1: that wide receiver room is rubbing off on him a
- 3:32Speaker 1: little bit as well.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really important that he is this factor. I
- 3:38Speaker 4: think just as big as BTJ, as the fact that
- 3:41Speaker 4: Trevor also worked Tim Patrick in deep He's throwing the
- 3:45Speaker 4: deep ball better. I think if BTJ gives them this
- 3:50Speaker 4: element and gives them that fear factor I think I
- 3:52Speaker 4: talked about earlier this week. Now defenses have to worry
- 3:56Speaker 4: about him as well. In the offense, it's going to
- 3:59Speaker 4: open up a lot more thing. This element, Brian has
- 4:04Speaker 4: been the one element that is lacked in this offense.
- 4:08Speaker 4: It's been a really good offense all year. Hasn't been great.
- 4:11Speaker 2: This might make it great, And you know it wasn't
- 4:13Speaker 2: the only one.
- 4:14Speaker 3: The dependable hands of Jacoby Myers was an element that
- 4:17Speaker 3: was missing from this offense, and the presence of Brenton
- 4:20Speaker 3: Strange and everything that he brings was missing. Now you've
- 4:23Speaker 3: got those two pieces, two dependable guys that like the
- 4:27Speaker 3: middle of the field, which allows Brian Thomas Junior to
- 4:29Speaker 3: run the routes that he likes best twenty five or
- 4:32Speaker 3: more yards down the field. I'm not saying he won't
- 4:34Speaker 3: go over the middle, because he did on his first catch,
- 4:36Speaker 3: the sixteen yarder to set up traves Etn's first touchdown.
- 4:39Speaker 3: He will, but he's more comfortable running deep routes and
- 4:43Speaker 3: being way down the field and letting his length and
- 4:46Speaker 3: his speed and his height come into play for Trevor Lawrence.
- 4:49Speaker 3: If Lawrence is throwing the ball accurately outside the numbers
- 4:52Speaker 3: in down the field, then BTJ is the guy Whi's
- 4:55Speaker 3: really the telling part here is that all the different
- 4:58Speaker 3: pieces that have their specific roles in this offense are
- 5:01Speaker 3: healthy and back on the field together at a critical
- 5:04Speaker 3: time of the season.
- 5:05Speaker 4: And kay, I think about what they did the other day. Look,
- 5:09Speaker 4: they were a very good passing team. I felt like
- 5:11Speaker 4: they had a lot of options. And Parker Washington, the
- 5:14Speaker 4: guy who has become sort of the one, didn't even
- 5:17Speaker 4: play and we didn't talk about it. So now you
- 5:19Speaker 4: go five deep with really reliable pass catchers in this offense.
- 5:24Speaker 4: It wasn't the case in September.
- 5:26Speaker 3: And we have to mention the Travis Hunters on injury
- 5:28Speaker 3: reserve because we've talked about all these incredible parts that
- 5:30Speaker 3: are of a sudden there and you're playing without a
- 5:32Speaker 3: guy that you thought at one point this year you
- 5:35Speaker 3: would have playing well at the end of the year.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it'd be great to see what he looks like
- 5:39Speaker 1: when he comes back next season. If they can all
- 5:41Speaker 1: continue to play this well this year and then build
- 5:44Speaker 1: on it next year as well. Our final big thing
- 5:46Speaker 1: today is going to be week by week. This team
- 5:47Speaker 1: thrives their best to take everything day by day and
- 5:50Speaker 1: week by week, and this week it will be a
- 5:52Speaker 1: challenge they're going to take on the New York Jets. Brian,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I think when we talk a little bit about what
- 5:57Speaker 1: they can find motivation and they talk about the disrespect
- 6:00Speaker 1: a lot, but they also got to have some internal
- 6:01Speaker 1: focus this week well.
- 6:03Speaker 3: And I have complete confidence in Liam Cohen to get
- 6:05Speaker 3: that done, because if you go back to the Houston loss,
- 6:08Speaker 3: he had his team focused only on the Chargers. He
- 6:12Speaker 3: didn't let them sit back in feel sorry for themselves
- 6:16Speaker 3: in the Houston game. He moved them through quickly and
- 6:19Speaker 3: got them ready to go. I expect that he will
- 6:21Speaker 3: be able to have his team focused and ready to
- 6:23Speaker 3: go for the Jets. Records need nothing at this point
- 6:26Speaker 3: of the season. That was his comment on Wednesday of
- 6:29Speaker 3: the Chargers week. I'm sorry, not the Chargers week, the
- 6:31Speaker 3: week against the the Titans, and I expect him to
- 6:34Speaker 3: say the exact same thing this week and have his
- 6:35Speaker 3: team ready to go.
- 6:36Speaker 2: He's proven he can do it. Yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Look, I don't know if the Jaguars will win Sunday.
- 6:43Speaker 4: You never know in the NFL, but I do believe
- 6:47Speaker 4: that they will be ready to play, and I don't
- 6:50Speaker 4: think there will be any you know, overlooking anything like that.
- 6:55Speaker 4: This is still a young team and a team where
- 6:59Speaker 4: this is new to them, and they still believe, as
- 7:02Speaker 4: Travis etn that nobody likes them. So I don't I
- 7:07Speaker 4: would be stunned if you see a drop off that
- 7:11Speaker 4: you can attribute to complacency. It just doesn't feel like
- 7:14Speaker 4: what this team is.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yes, Fields, the hunger is definitely still there. Say with
- 7:18Speaker 1: us here on jag Zam, we're gonna do a little
- 7:19Speaker 1: this or that about the team coming up after the breaks.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Exam brought to you by Field Auto Group, Seafields First
- 7:33Speaker 1: Jackson's premier luxury auto group at Everyfields Auto dot com.
- 7:38Speaker 1: This cool looking back into jag Zam today as we
- 7:41Speaker 1: get ready for a matchup against the Jets, we're kind
- 7:43Speaker 1: of looking at the team so far the season, where
- 7:46Speaker 1: they're at. I think they're certainly past what we expected,
- 7:49Speaker 1: maybe in this first year of the new regime. But
- 7:51Speaker 1: we're gonna take a little cue from National because I've
- 7:53Speaker 1: heard a couple of different people talking about this, and
- 7:55Speaker 1: we talked touched on it yesterday. But Trevor looked as
- 7:58Speaker 1: good as I've seen him in my three This is
- 8:00Speaker 1: my third season, so my three years here. But obviously
- 8:03Speaker 1: you guys know him a little bit better and you've
- 8:04Speaker 1: seen more out of him. But do you feel like
- 8:06Speaker 1: that was the best game that we've seen from Trevor?
- 8:08Speaker 1: A most complete game we've seen from Trevor.
- 8:10Speaker 3: To me, if it wasn't the best game, it was
- 8:13Speaker 3: certainly the second best game. He was protected and he
- 8:16Speaker 3: made all the throws. And I think the most telling
- 8:19Speaker 3: throw John was that rollout, that naked rollout to the
- 8:22Speaker 3: left side that he threw to Tim Patrick down the sideline.
- 8:25Speaker 3: How many times have we seen him come out of
- 8:27Speaker 3: that naked rollout and stumble and go too deep or
- 8:31Speaker 3: stay too far from the sideline. I thought it was
- 8:34Speaker 3: perfectly executed for maybe the first time I've seen him
- 8:37Speaker 3: do that in his career, and it was right on target.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Was that third down? It was a big play at
- 8:42Speaker 3: the time. I just I thought he rose to the
- 8:44Speaker 3: occasion in every single moment. If it wasn't his best man,
- 8:49Speaker 3: make the case for it.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 4: And I don't even know specific plays or stats, but
- 8:55Speaker 4: you guys watched the game, and you've watched him this
- 8:58Speaker 4: year and last year things were a mess, and even
- 9:01Speaker 4: in twenty two.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Take stats out of it, just take the eye test.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Didn't he just feel in control? I mean, and like
- 9:11Speaker 4: every play he knew where he was supposed to go
- 9:13Speaker 4: with it, confident with it. I never really put the
- 9:16Speaker 4: ball in danger. That might have been one where I
- 9:18Speaker 4: was like, oh, you know, and it was fine.
- 9:22Speaker 5: He looked like a guy.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I hate the word light comes on because there's gonna
- 9:27Speaker 4: be games that are up and down. But he looked
- 9:31Speaker 4: like a guy who belonged where he was and who
- 9:35Speaker 4: knew that he was the best person to be there
- 9:39Speaker 4: and that what he did was right. I said a
- 9:43Speaker 4: couple of weeks ago, I don't know how much he
- 9:45Speaker 4: listens to the noise, right, but I remember Camra Robinson
- 9:48Speaker 4: telling me on his own podcast a couple of years back,
- 9:51Speaker 4: because Cam had been criticized, right, and he said, there's
- 9:55Speaker 4: a point where you sort of forget about it, and
- 9:58Speaker 4: then there's point here just you truly don't care and
- 10:00Speaker 4: you just go play. And I kind of wonder if
- 10:02Speaker 4: Trevor's not at that with a let it rip five
- 10:05Speaker 4: years into it, I kind of wonder if he's not
- 10:08Speaker 4: at that point, Hey.
- 10:09Speaker 5: You know what, I'm gonna go play.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Well, it's worth pointing out.
- 10:11Speaker 3: You know, we've seen in most games this year a
- 10:13Speaker 3: moment where, even if it wasn't interceptage, you're like, no,
- 10:15Speaker 3: you can't throw that one. I mean I did, that's
- 10:17Speaker 3: too dangerous. The last two weeks, there has not been
- 10:19Speaker 3: one of those plays.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Nope, not at all.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Even when you were cringing a little when he was
- 10:23Speaker 1: rolling out, it worked perfectly.
- 10:25Speaker 5: There's gonna be moments.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I mean, he's gonna have games, Yeah, they're bad. Jalen
- 10:29Speaker 4: Hurts this week had an awful game and he's really good.
- 10:33Speaker 4: So there's gonna be moments like that. But don't you
- 10:35Speaker 4: feel like in the last three weeks this is the
- 10:39Speaker 4: best he's played since twenty three maybe late twenty two,
- 10:43Speaker 4: and even in those there were picks and he would
- 10:46Speaker 4: catch fire. These are solid quarterback performances of a guy
- 10:50Speaker 4: who looks like he really knows what he's doing.
- 10:52Speaker 3: People are not holding their breath waiting for mistakes anymore.
- 10:55Speaker 1: No, it's great to watch, and it's nice to have
- 10:57Speaker 1: that confidence and trust in your quarterback. I'm looking at
- 11:01Speaker 1: some of the points in the season. I feel like
- 11:03Speaker 1: we're pivotal moments. We've talked a ton about it. The
- 11:06Speaker 1: loss to the Texans, right, the kind of falling apart
- 11:08Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter, for lack of a better way
- 11:10Speaker 1: to describe it. And when you're looking at the playoff
- 11:13Speaker 1: race now with the Texans kind of getting back in reach,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you're probably looking and saying, oh, I kind of
- 11:18Speaker 1: want that one back. But for me, I feel like
- 11:20Speaker 1: the Texans loss really drove them to the team that
- 11:23Speaker 1: they are, so John, when I'm looking at this a
- 11:26Speaker 1: little bit, do you feel like the Texans game, the
- 11:28Speaker 1: loss was almost needed to get them to this point,
- 11:30Speaker 1: Like you kind of use it as a turning point
- 11:32Speaker 1: or would you rather have that win on the roster, Yeah, schedule.
- 11:35Speaker 5: I think if they'd given up a big lead and
- 11:37Speaker 5: still won.
- 11:37Speaker 4: They've kindly gotten the same lesson, so but yes, for
- 11:43Speaker 4: whatever happened, did teach them lesson. I also look at
- 11:46Speaker 4: the Texans game a little differently than people. They got
- 11:49Speaker 4: that big lead from some turnovers, they had two hundred
- 11:51Speaker 4: yards offense or two hundred and thirty five. They really
- 11:54Speaker 4: didn't dominate the Texans. They got themselves in a position
- 11:57Speaker 4: where they should have won the game. Realistically, don't you
- 12:01Speaker 4: feel like those two teams it's sort of right that
- 12:04Speaker 4: they split, because I mean it, karma whatever.
- 12:10Speaker 5: They probably both deserve.
- 12:12Speaker 4: To beat the other one and enter the two best teams.
- 12:16Speaker 4: But I do think the way that game ended, with
- 12:19Speaker 4: the pass rush not being able to get anything done,
- 12:22Speaker 4: it certainly inspired that much. And a defense that felt
- 12:26Speaker 4: like it was good all season had had sort of
- 12:28Speaker 4: a mind slip game and they're very, very good now.
- 12:33Speaker 4: So yeah, I'll say, Brian, they needed it, though I
- 12:36Speaker 4: think again, I think if they won with a field
- 12:38Speaker 4: goal at the ends.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Well, listen, find me a perfect team, right There hasn't
- 12:44Speaker 3: been one since nineteen seventy two, and in that case,
- 12:47Speaker 3: every team since then has a game that you look
- 12:50Speaker 3: back at and say, if this then that you hope
- 12:54Speaker 3: that the Texans game, you say, this is the game
- 12:57Speaker 3: that prompted us to play better football, as posed to
- 13:00Speaker 3: we would have won the division if we held on
- 13:03Speaker 3: and won that game, but instead the schedule rolled out
- 13:06Speaker 3: and the Texans won out and we lost one. You know,
- 13:08Speaker 3: I mean, that's all the scenarios that are in place
- 13:10Speaker 3: right now you kind of worry about.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I'm just sure the belief.
- 13:12Speaker 3: My dad always us to say, Brian, it isn't what
- 13:15Speaker 3: happens to you, it's what you do about it. And
- 13:17Speaker 3: so what happened was they didn't make a play on
- 13:21Speaker 3: offense or on defense, but they came back the next
- 13:24Speaker 3: week and started a winning streak. Yeah, they did something
- 13:27Speaker 3: positive with it. So I will say absolutely it turns
- 13:30Speaker 3: out to be a very positive thing because they did
- 13:32Speaker 3: something positive with a negative outcome.
- 13:35Speaker 4: And I keep harping on this because we sort of
- 13:36Speaker 4: look for moments like this, and this is a good segment.
- 13:40Speaker 4: But it's not like twenty twenty two where they struggled, struggled,
- 13:46Speaker 4: struggle and then sort of caught fire on this late run.
- 13:49Speaker 4: It seems been good all year, right. They started one
- 13:52Speaker 4: to oh, they were four and one. They played two
- 13:54Speaker 4: really good teams and the Rams and the Seaos to
- 13:57Speaker 4: get to four and three. Guess what, the Texans are
- 13:59Speaker 4: really good. It means their only flub up loss was
- 14:03Speaker 4: the Cincinnati Week two. Other than that, I'd make the
- 14:06Speaker 4: argument that the Texans, Rams, and the Seahawks right now
- 14:10Speaker 4: might be among the top five or six teams.
- 14:12Speaker 2: In the league.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Sure, it takes a really good team right now to
- 14:15Speaker 4: beat the Jaguars.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Well, and listen, I mean, you look at the Eagles.
- 14:18Speaker 3: They're struggling right now, But if they get hot late
- 14:20Speaker 3: in the year, is anybody going to be surprised? Because
- 14:22Speaker 3: they're a talented football team and they have the opportunity
- 14:26Speaker 3: in front of them to make a run. So you
- 14:28Speaker 3: have to look at your team from a whole perspective.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Absolutely, And I think that was a good opportunity to
- 14:33Speaker 1: use as motivation, and they clearly have for the past
- 14:37Speaker 1: couple of weeks. Say let's here, we're going to talk
- 14:39Speaker 1: a little bit about what's going on around the NFL.
- 14:50Speaker 1: For twelve years, dream Finders Holmes have been proud to
- 14:52Speaker 1: call themselves the official home builder of the Jacksonville Jaguars
- 14:54Speaker 1: as a dreamfindersomes dot Com for all of the available
- 14:56Speaker 1: inventory and go Jags. Welcome back into jag Zam. We're
- 15:01Speaker 1: gonna talk a little bit about what's going on around
- 15:03Speaker 1: the NFL. We're expanding past the ANFC South because there's
- 15:06Speaker 1: a lot of stuff going on different places. But let's
- 15:09Speaker 1: talk about the Colts. Obviously, the team we just played,
- 15:11Speaker 1: just got to win over Daniel Jones. Of course confirmed
- 15:15Speaker 1: guy has that achilles injury. He'll be out for TBD
- 15:18Speaker 1: a long amount of time, certainly not this season. And
- 15:21Speaker 1: the Colts now bringing in Philip Rivers, retired quarterback hasn't
- 15:26Speaker 1: played since twenty twenty and he's on the practice squad
- 15:29Speaker 1: now in Indianapolis.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Listen, Philip Rivers is one of my favorite quarterbacks that
- 15:34Speaker 3: I have ever watched.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I think he's like the proto type of a quarterback,
- 15:37Speaker 1: like I feel like, just tough.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And just the kind of person that he is.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I mean, he just fit. He checked all the boxes me.
- 15:43Speaker 3: I always loved watching him play when he was with
- 15:45Speaker 3: the Chargers. This move seems so desperate. Listen, Sometimes you
- 15:50Speaker 3: just make bad move after bad move. You're doubling down.
- 15:53Speaker 3: It was a terrible move to send your next two
- 15:54Speaker 3: first round picks to the Jets for Sauce Gardener.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Bad move.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Well, let's make another bad move. It makes no sense
- 16:02Speaker 3: to me. Forty four years, hasn't.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Played since twenty twenty. Can't possibly help you can't possibly?
- 16:09Speaker 5: I guess Jeff George wasn't answering the phones. No.
- 16:12Speaker 4: I mean, it does make sense on one level if
- 16:18Speaker 4: you think they're a running team that plays pretty good defense,
- 16:24Speaker 4: if you think that what you need is a guy
- 16:27Speaker 4: who can just go facilitate.
- 16:29Speaker 5: Like maybe the way Peyton did.
- 16:32Speaker 4: In the Broncos last Super Bowl run in the playoffs,
- 16:34Speaker 4: where his intelligence did it. I knew it and can
- 16:38Speaker 4: complete short passes.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Look, Peyton was not of the game for five years, though.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I didn't hurt.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Though I agree with you, I'm not saying that. I
- 16:49Speaker 4: don't think anybody in the Cults organization would tell you, Hey,
- 16:52Speaker 4: this was one of our cards to play during the
- 16:55Speaker 4: during training camp. But nobody would tell you that. It
- 17:00Speaker 4: doesn't fit into the phrase desperate times call for desperate measures.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Listen, I how hard to see it work. I hope
- 17:05Speaker 3: for his sake that Riley Leonard and Brett Rippon can play.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think the Colt would probably take
- 17:11Speaker 1: Joe Flacco back at this point right now even not
- 17:15Speaker 1: available obviously, but uh, something to keep an eye on there.
- 17:17Speaker 1: We'll see if Philip Rivers actually takes the field. As
- 17:20Speaker 1: mentioned before, Texans getting to win over the Chiefs and
- 17:23Speaker 1: at this point looks like the Chiefs are I just
- 17:26Speaker 1: the the what we've seen from the Chiefs obviously this
- 17:29Speaker 1: whole year, every single week, where like they don't look
- 17:31Speaker 1: like the Chiefs of old. They don't look like the
- 17:32Speaker 1: Chiefs of old. And I don't know have they have
- 17:34Speaker 1: they gone too far to bring it back?
- 17:36Speaker 4: Well, yeah, they're six and seven, so it it feels like, Look,
- 17:41Speaker 4: never say.
- 17:42Speaker 5: The Mahomes can't do it.
- 17:43Speaker 4: It's funny I do the Power rankings every week and
- 17:46Speaker 4: I keep sort of keeping them in the top fifteen
- 17:47Speaker 4: because every loss until.
- 17:49Speaker 5: This week was a tight loss to a good.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Team, or like their schedule has been brutal. That's never
- 17:55Speaker 4: affected him before because they've always been the toughest team
- 17:58Speaker 4: on everybody's schedule. I would guess in all logic would
- 18:03Speaker 4: tell you they're done. It seems like Kelsey, who is
- 18:08Speaker 4: a Hall of Famer, isn't quite the go to unlock
- 18:14Speaker 4: every secret code player that he once was. I can't
- 18:18Speaker 4: believe they recover from this. But ten and seven's also
- 18:22Speaker 4: on the table, which can get him in.
- 18:24Speaker 3: The draft is the great equalizer. It was designed right,
- 18:27Speaker 3: the inverted draft order to take the best teams and
- 18:30Speaker 3: put them at the bottom of every round, which allowed
- 18:32Speaker 3: the worst teams to draft the best players. I don't
- 18:36Speaker 3: care if you're really good at drafting, and they were
- 18:38Speaker 3: this year with Justin Simmons. Is Justin's Jason Simmons, the
- 18:41Speaker 3: left tackle from Ohio State, who's hurt and off them.
- 18:44Speaker 3: You can't possibly keep the talent level high when you
- 18:47Speaker 3: lose players through free agency, which they have and still
- 18:50Speaker 3: be able to be the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 18:52Speaker 2: They're not. They are not the same team, even.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Though Mahomes is there and Chris Jones and Travis Kelcey,
- 18:59Speaker 3: they're not the same roster. They've got to work on
- 19:03Speaker 3: drafting and they will middle of the pack and get
- 19:06Speaker 3: better players.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Yeah, the draft is the long term equalizer. The short
- 19:12Speaker 4: term equalizer is injuries to your offensive line. Yeah, and
- 19:15Speaker 4: injuries everywhere, but really the offensive line, We've all seen that,
- 19:19Speaker 4: and they are way late on that.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Couldn't do anything the other night.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Nothing talking about injuries to the offensive line. The Chargers
- 19:25Speaker 1: have been dealing with a lot and Justin Herbert I
- 19:27Speaker 1: think got sacked six or seven times last night, but
- 19:30Speaker 1: still found a way to get a win. And just
- 19:32Speaker 1: another team, You're like, oh, maybe they're kind of out
- 19:34Speaker 1: of it. They're finding their way back in as well.
- 19:36Speaker 3: They're very well coached, and they're getting one of their
- 19:39Speaker 3: running backs back. And that was the way that Harball
- 19:41Speaker 3: always wanted to play was run the ball and use
- 19:44Speaker 3: play action with Justin Herbert having time to stand in
- 19:47Speaker 3: the pocket and send the ball downfield. If their running
- 19:49Speaker 3: game comes back. Now their offensive line obviously they're down
- 19:53Speaker 3: to what their third left tackle and their second right tackle,
- 19:56Speaker 3: but at the running game can be a great equalizer.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Plus he's a tough kid.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Herbert's a good, good player that you worry when
- 20:05Speaker 4: he gets beat up like he is this year. You
- 20:08Speaker 4: hope for his sake, sort of like Burrow, you know,
- 20:10Speaker 4: and those two guys I like as much as any
- 20:12Speaker 4: quarterback in the NFL.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Both of those guys taking a lot of shots. It's
- 20:17Speaker 5: like what you're worried about with Trevor last couple of years.
- 20:18Speaker 4: You know, at some point you don't want that wear
- 20:21Speaker 4: and tear to reduce a player's effectiveness over the long term.
- 20:26Speaker 4: But as long as Herbert's healthy for them, they're dangerous.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Hope he stays healthy because they host the Texans in
- 20:30Speaker 3: two weeks.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yes they do. He had surgery on that non throwing him,
- 20:33Speaker 1: but didn't seem to affect him too much last night,
- 20:36Speaker 1: So clearly they're still able to get a win and
- 20:38Speaker 1: he's still able to be effective at the quarterback position.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Say it's here in Jackson will tell you what's coming
- 20:43Speaker 1: up the rest of the week. JAG's fans, if you
- 20:54Speaker 1: want to customize Jaguars furniture for your homes, ich zicher
- 20:56Speaker 1: dot com to brows all the customizable options. Zip Cherry's
- 20:58Speaker 1: Furniture for fans. And this weekend's game against the Jets
- 21:01Speaker 1: brought to you by Geico. It feels good to Kaico
- 21:06Speaker 1: and only a couple more home games if you want
- 21:08Speaker 1: to get out there. I don't think there's going to
- 21:10Speaker 1: be the rain situation. I think it's back to typical
- 21:12Speaker 1: sunny Florida weather, so high sixties, I think maybe seventy ish.
- 21:16Speaker 2: So with a football team, let's go.
- 21:18Speaker 1: That's what we've been talking about.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Two weeks before Christmas.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Yeah, and look, this Jets game is a big game.
- 21:24Speaker 4: I mean it's it's it's not eight and four versus
- 21:27Speaker 4: eight and four.
- 21:28Speaker 5: But the Texans are on your tail.
- 21:31Speaker 4: And I get that people haven't seen this, this sort
- 21:35Speaker 4: of contending, but every game in this stretch matters.
- 21:39Speaker 5: You know, the Jaguars of clinch right now. Nothing. They
- 21:41Speaker 5: haven't clinched to South. They're essentially in the playoffs right now,
- 21:45Speaker 5: but they haven't clinched.
- 21:46Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, I mean they're in a playoff race
- 21:48Speaker 3: right now with the Texas.
- 21:50Speaker 5: So it's look.
- 21:53Speaker 4: This, I've been back since twenty eleven. They had a
- 21:56Speaker 4: good season seventeen, a good season in twenty two. This
- 21:59Speaker 4: is fun, you know, if you can get there Sunday,
- 22:04Speaker 4: this is fun stuff and it's a fun team to watch.
- 22:06Speaker 5: So there's my pitch.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Jack's had a couple of good teams in the mid
- 22:10Speaker 3: two thousands when Jack Derio was here, But this feels
- 22:12Speaker 3: more like the late nineties with Tom Coughlin, where you
- 22:16Speaker 3: expected them to be able to play good football against
- 22:20Speaker 3: As we talked about the best teams, right you look
- 22:22Speaker 3: at the teams they've beaten this year, and they're good teams.
- 22:25Speaker 3: When the Daggars used to line up, you knew they
- 22:27Speaker 3: could go to to toe with the best teams.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Have that same feeling.
- 22:30Speaker 3: But as John just said, you also have to go
- 22:31Speaker 3: to totoe with the teams that aren't that good.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Right now, you've got to find a way to get
- 22:35Speaker 2: a win.
- 22:35Speaker 4: And the Jets can be a good game. I mean
- 22:36Speaker 4: they've started off with oh and seven and eight, three
- 22:40Speaker 4: and three. Always remember when you're playing a team that
- 22:43Speaker 4: has a first year head coach, that head coach is
- 22:46Speaker 4: probably not going to get fired. So guess what the
- 22:48Speaker 4: players want to play for this guy because he's been
- 22:50Speaker 4: making decisions in their future. Well, they're still all in.
- 22:54Speaker 4: This is not third year guy playing out the strength.
- 22:56Speaker 3: And we touched briefly last week on the season finale
- 22:58Speaker 3: here in twenty twenty one, when the Colts came down
- 23:00Speaker 3: and all they needed to do was find a way
- 23:03Speaker 3: to beat a team that had only won two all
- 23:04Speaker 3: season long, and they couldn't do it, not against a
- 23:07Speaker 3: rookie quarterback with an introom coach. So you've got to
- 23:09Speaker 3: remember the.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Past focus is important. We'll dive into that a little
- 23:13Speaker 1: bit on Thursday talk about specifically what they're going to
- 23:16Speaker 1: need to do against the Jets. So join us here
- 23:18Speaker 1: tomorrow on the jet Zam
