- 0:24autism out that's happening. This is real stuff that I use.
- 0:27I'm so excited. Let's get into it.
- 0:28Hey guys, welcome back to the ask me world.

- 0:45follow for daily videos just like this.
- 0:47Okay, so awesome meltdowns. Oh my goodness, guys, I have
- 0:50pretty much daily meltdowns but there are ways I can prevent
- 0:54them escalating to something, more than that.
- 0:56And also, there are ways where I don't actually have them all
- 0:59down, because I prevented it by doing certain things.
- 1:01Now, I've listed out five of the top ones that I use, I'm going
- 1:04to go through all of these right now with you guys.
- 1:06Before I do that, if you want to download my free autism, life
- 1:09hacks PDF book, you can do it, autism hacks dotnet right now.
- 1:12Okay, so the first one I'm going to talk about here.
- 1:14It's planning. Now planning is key for autistic
- 1:17people and it's keep for a few things to prevent Many mountain
- 1:20recurring, a lot of autistic people have meltdowns because
- 1:22they've maybe forgotten an appointment that's going to
- 1:24happen or they're supposed to be somewhere like a class and they
- 1:27don't have the right time table. So they don't know what class to
- 1:28get to and this dropping the ball notion of thinking I should
- 1:33have been some. I should be doing that, but I
- 1:34forgot it. And I've let myself down can
- 1:36cause a huge like ripple effect and cause a lot of people's have
- 1:40meltdowns, I surely have one of these like this, I was in
- 1:42college and I was doing a access to science and I was doing a
- 1:47chemistry prep work. And I was supposed to have a
- 1:50doctor's appointment to see my doctor, because I'm on
- 1:53medication for my condition is stuff like that, and I forgot to
- 1:57go because I didn't write it down.
- 1:59I don't remember. It was even on a plan or
- 2:00anything and then the doctor Phil me left, a message saying,
- 2:02you missed your appointment and I was so worried those subsets
- 2:04and it cost a meltdown in the class.
- 2:06I was just a whole thing. And I've never wanted to do that
- 2:09again. So now I completely use like my
- 2:14iPhone is kind of like my lifeline my iPhone and iPad.
- 2:18If I didn't have an iPhone IPod. I literally wouldn't be able to
- 2:20function, so I kind of have a planner on my iPad and my
- 2:23iPhone, which I use quite a lot. I'm going to do an in-depth
- 2:26video on some of the new apps that I use.
- 2:28So, let me leave me a comment down below if you want to see a
- 2:31video, you know, if you think it's a good idea to see a video,
- 2:33I'll just give this video a thumbs up if you think would be
- 2:35good to talk about the apps. I used to plan my life, but I
- 2:38basically have apps that I can list out, like, my to dues, that
- 2:41semi little reminders. And one of the main ones is the
- 2:43Apple reminders on here is pretty good.
- 2:45So if you've got an iPhone or Android phone, you can use the
- 2:47reminders app to tell you. Or alert you and something
- 2:50happen. So soon as I get like an
- 2:51appointment or a call come in, I say ramayana state that are
- 2:54going to go here, that works so much and it helps really reduce
- 2:57the potential for meltdowns. Okay, so number two is
- 3:00disconnection breaks. I learned this one from going
- 3:03through my recent book of therapy with an Autism
- 3:05specialist. Now a lot of the time we think
- 3:09that you know an autistic person needs to, you know, sit down,
- 3:12relax, go to a spa, you know, go away for the weekend.
- 3:17That's not how it is to people. Relax.
- 3:19But, you know, autistic people need to be in the environment
- 3:22that they're comfortable in, but be disconnected from the things
- 3:25that are demanding of them. So my work in this office is
- 3:29demanding on me, right. But if I were to, you know, take
- 3:33a break, I want to still be in the office playing games or
- 3:37watching movies or whatever or playing with my virtual reality
- 3:40games but without the demand of my work demanding off me and
- 3:45what happens is you don't if you don't take breaks from having
- 3:48demands then You'll have this pressure build-up or an
- 3:51accumulation of pressure will look, that will eventually cause
- 3:54meltdown shut down burn out, all kind of horrible nasty stuff.
- 3:57So, my my advice is to create like weekly, you know, routines
- 4:02where you take one or two hours every day to completely
- 4:06disconnect from anything that is demanding of you.
- 4:09So this could be just having a meal with your family, or going
- 4:12for a walk or playing video games or something, that's
- 4:14completely chilled. It's super important to do this
- 4:16because it's giving your brain that breathing space.
- 4:18It needs. So number three is interest
- 4:21engagement, a lot of people forget about this but making
- 4:24sure to implement time to do your special interest a gaming
- 4:27or reading books or whatever or researching stuff is super
- 4:30important. Now as we get older our life
- 4:33becomes way more demanding you know.
- 4:35So School takes over and we have less time to play games all the
- 4:38time to you know we have study coming in here and there every
- 4:40we got homework and all this kind of stuff and it's kind of
- 4:42like when do I get the time to research the stuff that I really
- 4:45enjoy? But if you set aside time, And
- 4:49to make sure that you implement your special interest, which is
- 4:53sometimes demanding, it's not, I'm not saying this is the same
- 4:55as the disconnection breaks because this is a totally
- 4:57different thing. This is making sure that you do
- 5:00follow through with your interest because what happens is
- 5:02when you exercise your interest, a special interest for something
- 5:07like, say you're into cars, or you're into like virtual
- 5:10reality. When you express that in for
- 5:14you, it soothes, your brains chemical massage for your brain.
- 5:17You know, I love learning, I can't stop learning.
- 5:19So, To relax and to really get into something.
- 5:21That's like really interesting to me.
- 5:22I am learning to speak Chinese Mandarin.
- 5:25And so, I think, like, you know, that soothes, my brains, I
- 5:29always have to learn when I'm not learning.
- 5:30I get really depressed and that could cause me to have a
- 5:32meltdown. So, this is really important to
- 5:33make sure that you are taking care of your special interest
- 5:36first, and we can show you do that, okay, so a number four is
- 5:40brilliant. Now, brillier is a homeopathic
- 5:43medication that is completely prescription free.
- 5:46So you don't need to go to doctor get a prescription for
- 5:48it, but I would recommend And before taking anything always
- 5:50consult your doctor because let's face it, something we work
- 5:52for me but may not work for you and you may have a different
- 5:54condition to than I do. But brilliant are sponsoring
- 5:56this video and they kindly sent me this.
- 5:59They've kept me in Supply brilliant.
- 6:00Now for like the past, maybe 12 months, which is absolutely
- 6:03amazing and I love this. Basically this is what it does.
- 6:05It helps enhance the clarity improves connection and
- 6:08attention and reduces anxiety, stress relief, restlessness
- 6:12irritability and impulsivity which I think is a godsend for
- 6:14people with ADHD and autism. So basically how it works that
- 6:18you just pop a couple He's under your tongue will be for three to
- 6:20four of them a day. It needs a week or maybe two to
- 6:24really get into system for it starts to take effect.
- 6:26What it does, is it really just kind of takes the edge off all
- 6:28that anxiousness and irritability and it helps
- 6:31prevent you getting so anxious and so, irritable that you then
- 6:34meltdown, right? Which is super interesting.
- 6:36I love really, I can't recommend it enough.
- 6:39It works for me, it may not work for everybody but I highly
- 6:41recommend checking out. I actually have a discount in
- 6:43the description down below, so make sure you check out billion
- 6:46description down below. Use the discount code.
- 6:48And, yeah. Why not send them a high and
- 6:50social media? Tell him Dan said, hi.
- 6:51Okay, so number five is hydration and food.
- 6:54This is a big, big, big one, talk about hydration.
- 6:56I'm going to come right now. So, keeping well hydrated and
- 7:01fed, like check in on meals, is a fantastic way to avoid
- 7:05meltdowns. Most of the models happen in the
- 7:08evening for me, because I forget to eat now, one of the main
- 7:11things will autistic people is that they get, so, hyper focus
- 7:14on something like work or or, you know, their special interest
- 7:17or something else that they forget to hydrate.
- 7:19Sounds of water super important because being dehydrated will
- 7:21give you headaches because a lot of stress and that could cause a
- 7:24meltdown. But also eating when your body's
- 7:26not fueled, especially artistic people have really actively fast
- 7:29pacing brains. And those brains need to
- 7:31constantly have this, like, burning of energy.
- 7:34Now, if you don't have your energy levels topped up, then
- 7:36how on Earth you supposed to function in any way manner shape
- 7:38or form? Especially getting rid of
- 7:40meltdowns. So, I have a complete meal in a
- 7:46box called a Huell, which is kind of like a Powder that you
- 7:49shake or like a pastor and powder that you've in the
- 7:52microwave and you add water and that's a complete meal with like
- 7:55vitamins in it. And I use that because in the
- 7:57morning I always forget to do breakfast but I can just pop the
- 7:59shaking the night before and I've got my meal sorted.
- 8:02But having a reminder reminding you when to take lunch breakfast
- 8:06and dinner and also went to drink water is a great one.
- 8:09You have to keep on top of water and food intake, to make sure
- 8:11that you're at Tip-Top capacity. And you are not going to melt
- 8:14down. This is so important, guys.
- 8:16And keeping yourself well fed, it's super important and I was
- 8:18not He sometimes will Lifestyles and also sometimes you know food
- 8:22is expensive. I get it, you know?
- 8:24So just do your best and I'm rooting for you.
- 8:28I know you can do it, guys. I'd love to know your comments
- 8:30pop in the comment down below. I read every single one.
- 8:32Guys, if you like this video, give it a thumbs up.
