- 0:05Speaker 1: us revisit an episode we've already aired. Maybe the movie
- 0:08Speaker 1: is airing again, or maybe we just love it that much.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Either way, we think it's worth another listen. Maybe the
- 0:16Speaker 1: movie is airing again. Maybe we just loved this episode
- 0:19Speaker 1: that much. Either way, we think it's worth another listen. Enjoy. Hey, everybody,
- 0:23Speaker 1: welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:26Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a lifelong Hallmark movie fan. I'm Wendy,
- 0:30Speaker 1: but you can call me Aunt Doty. I mean, if
- 0:33Speaker 1: you know you now. I don't know if the Hallmark
- 0:35Speaker 1: listener is even get the reference here. It's the boot.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's the frickin' boot and the crutches and the scooter.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I could just have played Aunt Doty in this movie.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Indeed, today we're Disgusting Picture of Her, which originally aired
- 0:50Speaker 1: on Saturday, March twenty fifth on the Hallmark Channel. If
- 0:54Speaker 1: you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,
- 0:56Speaker 1: we would love for you to follow us on Instagram.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And if you're not, you're missing out. We are at
- 1:02Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You can also jump into our Facebook group at Girls
- 1:07Speaker 2: Gone Hallmark. Is it at Girls Gone Hallmark? Just look
- 1:11Speaker 2: for Girls Gone Hallmark in Facebook. It's gonna come up.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I will also leave a link in the show notes.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Let's talk Hallmark for a minute. Yeah, I have some
- 1:20Speaker 1: holiday movie news already. Yeah, tell me so. We have
- 1:25Speaker 1: a Hallmark Christmas movie titled Christmas Goals filming in Colonna,
- 1:31Speaker 1: British Columbia that stars Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula. Oh,
- 1:35Speaker 1: we have another movie filming in Connecticut being directed by
- 1:39Speaker 1: Dustin Reikert. We don't have a lot of information about that,
- 1:42Speaker 1: but some photos that were shared by one Sleepy Kittie
- 1:45Speaker 1: Pat include mister Michael Rady in them, so it would
- 1:49Speaker 1: appear that we're going to get our wish of more
- 1:51Speaker 1: Michael Rady.
- 1:53Speaker 2: That's amazing. I'm super excited to see him in another movie.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And finally, Hallmark what mainstream this week with a engine
- 2:01Speaker 1: on a show? You and I both love one ted Lasso?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yes, I saw somebody in our Facebook group talked about it,
- 2:08Speaker 2: which included a ted Lasso spoiler, and I was like,
- 2:11Speaker 2: oh man, I haven't started this season yet.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Oh I don't even remember the spoiler because Megan just
- 2:17Speaker 1: speed reads but without catching all the So I've seen
- 2:20Speaker 1: the show.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So you've watched the new season? Yeah, oh, we haven't
- 2:24Speaker 2: started it.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Only two episodes. We're waiting.
- 2:26Speaker 2: We need because we like to watch them like back
- 2:29Speaker 2: to back to back and back to back, so we
- 2:31Speaker 2: like to stock up a little bit.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's only two. It was kind of a bummer
- 2:34Speaker 1: because typically when they launched a new show, you would
- 2:37Speaker 1: at least get the first two, and it was one.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Because Apple TV knows that people are just chomping at
- 2:42Speaker 2: the bit for ted Lasso.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So yeah, so the Lion was Hallmark Christmas movies are
- 2:47Speaker 1: films that feature women from the big city fallen in
- 2:49Speaker 1: love with their childhood crushes. It's usually some fellow that
- 2:52Speaker 1: owns a Christmas tree farm. Sometimes he's also Santa Claus
- 2:55Speaker 1: or a prince. They suck, but they're great, but they
- 2:57Speaker 1: also mostly suck, but they're also kind of great. They're
- 2:59Speaker 1: good with the sound off. They're good with this sound off.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, let's talk about what's been happening on Instagram. Well,
- 3:08Speaker 1: we launched our King of Hallmark March Madness esque guy
- 3:14Speaker 1: Bracket Dude bracket, dude, bracket.
- 3:16Speaker 2: It's been wild bananas NonStop over there. Yeah, it blew
- 3:23Speaker 2: up it, yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Like too much.
- 3:25Speaker 2: More like I can't handle it, Like I hadn't. I
- 3:28Speaker 2: shut down the other night. I was like, Megan, you
- 3:31Speaker 2: have to take over. I can't do it anymore.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Just so many dms.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so so many dms, and hey, like it's great,
- 3:41Speaker 2: we love it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It just took me by surprise a little bit. I agree.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I was a little surprised. And whenever you do something
- 3:47Speaker 1: like this there you know, there's a learning curve for
- 3:51Speaker 1: some people. But the engagement was amazing. Thank you to
- 3:54Speaker 1: everyone who participated and who shared. As of the recording
- 3:57Speaker 1: of this episode, we have not crowned a winner, but
- 4:02Speaker 1: as of the airing of this episode, we will be
- 4:04Speaker 1: on the final hours of voting for the top two.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Right, So if you still want to like get your
- 4:10Speaker 2: vote in there.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Hop out over to girls, go on homwark on Instagram and.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Our Instagram stories and see if you can still vote.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's been wild, right, bananas beyond Like we
- 4:21Speaker 1: did something like this around Christmas time with the countdown
- 4:24Speaker 1: to Christmas movies, but this has been the fandoms come hard.
- 4:28Speaker 1: For the men of Hallmark.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I can appreciate their what's the word I'm looking for?
- 4:34Speaker 1: Intensity? Yeah, I can appreciate it. Yeah. I just want
- 4:38Speaker 1: it to be clear, like it's nothing. It's not personal
- 4:40Speaker 1: to us, you know what I mean, Like we're not
- 4:42Speaker 1: trying to take anybody down.
- 4:44Speaker 2: We're not trying to put these two like fan favorites
- 4:47Speaker 2: against each other.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Like it's it's all in good fun. All If someone
- 4:51Speaker 1: did comment, oh, well, your number one seeds are in
- 4:55Speaker 1: the top four, I couldn't tell if it was like,
- 4:58Speaker 1: how did that happen? Well, it happened because they were
- 5:01Speaker 1: the number one seeds for a reason. You wouldn't be
- 5:03Speaker 1: that surprised to see the number one seed in March
- 5:05Speaker 1: Madness basketball make it to the final floor.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So there's been some questions if we were going to
- 5:12Speaker 2: do this for a like a women's bracket.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Didn't we talk about this last week?
- 5:16Speaker 2: I guess we did, but I don't know if we
- 5:18Speaker 2: came to a conclusion on it.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I think the answer is no, Okay, we talked. It
- 5:23Speaker 1: just feels different. We have another fun bracket idea. I
- 5:28Speaker 1: also had another idea. Oh good, oh good. I won't
- 5:30Speaker 1: share it today. I'll tell you later.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't want to pit women against women.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Agree.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think that's what it comes down to. And I
- 5:40Speaker 2: had this conversation with my husband last night and he's like, well,
- 5:42Speaker 2: why is it okay to do it with the men?
- 5:44Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't know. I know what this
- 5:46Speaker 1: conversation I don't feels different. It just does.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Okay, So stay tuned over there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Let's move on to a picture of her with a synopsis.
- 5:59Speaker 2: All right, Best unwittingly becomes the subject of an award
- 6:02Speaker 2: winning magazine cover and goes on a quest to uncover
- 6:06Speaker 2: the true identity of the mystery photographer who snapped her photo.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Starring Rhann and Fish and Tyler Hines, Award winning I
- 6:16Speaker 2: have so many problems with that. That's what the synopsis says.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Award winning magazine's cover is award winning magazine's cover. The
- 6:26Speaker 2: magazine itself is award winning.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yes, I got you, Yes, I have thoughts about that,
- 6:33Speaker 1: Oh me too. Well. Of course, this movie stars one
- 6:36Speaker 1: Tyler Hines. He's been in a quite a few Hallmark movies,
- 6:40Speaker 1: but his very first was It's Christmas Eve, starring Leanne Rimes,
- 6:46Speaker 1: and he says that when he was asked to do
- 6:48Speaker 1: that movie. He knows that she sings, and he was like,
- 6:50Speaker 1: am I gonna be asked to sing? And they're like, no, sir,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and he was all in because he doesn't sing. Apparently not.
- 6:56Speaker 2: When did that come out? How long has he been
- 6:59Speaker 2: on the Hallmark channel.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Two thousand and eighteen? Maybe that's its Christmas Ease Hallmark
- 7:04Speaker 1: two than eighteen. I was right get out.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I honestly thought it's been a lot longer than that,
- 7:10Speaker 2: considering how many fans he has.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Someone said that Andrew Walker was the guy who got
- 7:17Speaker 1: Tyler Hyanes into Hallmark. Is that true? I don't know.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I can't corroborate that. But they are related by marriage,
- 7:23Speaker 1: Andrew Walker's wife Becauseandra Troy is Tyler Hines's cousin.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Oh and is that just coincidence or do they get
- 7:29Speaker 2: together like at family functions? Like did they find this
- 7:33Speaker 2: out like some DNA tests and they're like, oh yo,
- 7:36Speaker 2: we're related.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's cute.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Me thinks those two are going to go up against
- 7:39Speaker 2: each other and the final two championship.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I'd be shocked if they didn't shocked. So that's really funny.
- 7:45Speaker 2: This was filmed in Vancouver, Canada. I read in an
- 7:50Speaker 2: interview on Just Jared that rhiannon Fish talked about how
- 7:54Speaker 2: cold it was while they were filming this movie. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and that the crew had built these like to cover
- 8:02Speaker 2: the actors and the cameraman to block out like the
- 8:06Speaker 2: snowy weather.
- 8:07Speaker 1: That wows they could have the La sun.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess, isn't that especially? I think when they
- 8:14Speaker 2: were doing those water scenes it.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Was really really cold. Well those looked cold because you
- 8:20Speaker 1: mean in Washington, Yeah, I mean Pacific Northwest. I think
- 8:23Speaker 1: it's okay that those those looked cold to me, they
- 8:26Speaker 1: looked gray and cold. But I feel like it's like
- 8:29Speaker 1: that all the time.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Well maybe they did see I was assuming it was
- 8:32Speaker 2: those scenes, but maybe it was like just the sunny
- 8:36Speaker 2: l like what was supposed to be the sunny el
- 8:38Speaker 2: La scenes, and they just had were like blasting them
- 8:40Speaker 2: with like camera lights and you know whatever, just to
- 8:44Speaker 2: look like it was sunning California.
- 8:47Speaker 1: This movie was directed by Michael Robinson. He has seventy
- 8:50Speaker 1: eight directing credits, including Tyler Hines' movies and Unexpected Christmas.
- 8:54Speaker 2: And it was always You apparently that's the fan favorite.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It was always You. We reviewed that. Do you remember. Oh, yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 1: we liked it. I liked it more than you did. Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 2: That's when I was like really bothered by his hair
- 9:08Speaker 2: and I couldn't see past like the long hair.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So maybe, well that is also another movie where you've
- 9:15Speaker 1: got a woman who is in a relationship with another man.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Oh see, I don't remember the details. I believe she's
- 9:20Speaker 1: engaged to his brother.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Oh.
- 9:25Speaker 2: This was written by Donald Davenport, who has just a
- 9:28Speaker 2: handful of writing credits. His last was from twenty twelve
- 9:31Speaker 2: and it was called Hell and Mister Fudge.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I just actually was co written.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Really Yeah, according to IMDb, that's the only one that's
- 9:40Speaker 2: showing like a writing credit.
- 9:41Speaker 1: But IMDb, you didn't even credit the director. Yeah, Jeff
- 9:46Speaker 1: Wood is the other writer. Jeff Wood produced Hell and
- 9:49Speaker 1: Mister Fudge.
- 9:50Speaker 2: So those two know each other somehow, Okay.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Great. Rhann and Fish co stars in this movie. She
- 9:56Speaker 1: has twenty one acting credits, including on Hallmark, Nikki and
- 9:59Speaker 1: Nora's Sisters, Loose and a Splash of Love, as well
- 10:02Speaker 1: as Science Seal Delivered The Twenty Seven Hour Day. She's
- 10:05Speaker 1: definitely a homework supporting actress who's been elevated to a
- 10:08Speaker 1: lead role. Do you enjoy her a selfiad actress, Yes,
- 10:13Speaker 1: I thought she and Tyler had great chemistry. Me too.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Samantha Ferris plays Aunt Dotie. She has eighty five acting credits,
- 10:18Speaker 1: including movies like The Eight Gifts of Hanukah, Garage Shale
- 10:20Speaker 1: Mysteries plus Deep Cut, twenty four episodes of The forty
- 10:23Speaker 1: four Hundred, which is a sci fi series Wendy would
- 10:25Speaker 1: hate with my husband and I loved. Oh it's about
- 10:28Speaker 1: forty four hundred people who are abducted by aliens and
- 10:30Speaker 1: then returned to Earth. And finally, one fun little note,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Jason Farrakawa plays Hero at the Farmer's Market. He also
- 10:38Speaker 1: directed last week's Yeah, A Winning Team. Well, let's move
- 10:49Speaker 1: on to first impressions.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Is Tyler Hines playing Tyler Hines in this movie? I mean,
- 10:54Speaker 2: I feel like, right down to the clothing choices.
- 10:58Speaker 1: My first impression is I've never looked that good in
- 11:01Speaker 1: a candid photo. Oh god, no, you're right. Shit.
- 11:05Speaker 2: The photo of her was stunning, and I was like,
- 11:08Speaker 2: of me, it would have been like yep, and I
- 11:11Speaker 2: just made like a horrible double chin face.
- 11:14Speaker 1: So yeah, when I got married. The photojournalistic photography style
- 11:20Speaker 1: was all the rage, and I remember talking to my
- 11:23Speaker 1: photographer about it because I didn't know anything about anything,
- 11:25Speaker 1: but you know, you hear something, you're like, that's what
- 11:27Speaker 1: I want. And he was like, look, we will catch
- 11:30Speaker 1: so many photos of the day he goes. But if
- 11:33Speaker 1: you do not have a list of staged photos, you're
- 11:37Speaker 1: going to be so disappointed when you get to the
- 11:39Speaker 1: end of the night and you're like, I don't have
- 11:41Speaker 1: a photo with this person. I don't like the way
- 11:42Speaker 1: I look in that person. You need a photo where
- 11:44Speaker 1: you can know you're having your photo taken.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I just recently looked at my wedding photos, which also
- 11:50Speaker 2: fell into the photojournalism category. It was just all the
- 11:54Speaker 2: rage in two thousand and two thousand and one and
- 11:57Speaker 2: Whenever You got married two.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Thousand and five, and the pictures are real bad.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Like really be on the dance floor and I'm like, god,
- 12:05Speaker 2: I look like a sweaty mess.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'm like, what why did I choose this photo? Terrible?
- 12:12Speaker 1: All right, what did we like about this movie? So
- 12:14Speaker 1: you said it earlier.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I really thought the chemistry between Tyler Hines and Rihanna
- 12:18Speaker 2: Fish was pretty exceptional. Yeah, I was floored by the
- 12:22Speaker 2: amount of kissing that they had throughout this movie. And
- 12:25Speaker 2: not that I'm saying I didn't like it. I liked it,
- 12:28Speaker 2: like it was great. Like I'm tired of the we
- 12:31Speaker 2: have to wait to the very last second kiss in
- 12:33Speaker 2: a Hamewark movie. That doesn't feel realistic to me. Yes,
- 12:36Speaker 2: so give me kisses throughout. At one point I'm certain
- 12:40Speaker 2: I saw tongue.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yeah, did you? I mean it felt that way. It
- 12:44Speaker 1: was hot, tongue, it was. It was steamy for a
- 12:47Speaker 1: Hallmark movie. I thought, I'm not grabbing my pearls. I
- 12:50Speaker 1: liked it. I liked it. I liked it. The kisses
- 12:52Speaker 1: were eighty out of ten for me. Wow, they were hot.
- 12:56Speaker 1: They were great, I agree. Prior to this movie airing,
- 13:00Speaker 1: Rhann and Fish had shared it behind the scenes photos.
- 13:03Speaker 1: She and Tyler are like huddled around a heater and
- 13:05Speaker 1: there's nothing objectively steamy about that photo, like they're not touching,
- 13:12Speaker 1: But I felt like in that photo just something about it.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I was like, Oh, these two are like ah for
- 13:19Speaker 1: each other.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I was wondering, you know, how people have like on
- 13:24Speaker 2: set relationships because they're together for so long and these movies,
- 13:28Speaker 2: you know, are like a.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Three week turnaround.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Do the actors, those who are not married hopefully hooking
- 13:38Speaker 2: up with each other?
- 13:39Speaker 1: I mean, how do you mean, will you meet people
- 13:41Speaker 1: at work? I would imagine it's happening, right. There was
- 13:44Speaker 1: something very obvious between these two. You two thinks so too.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I was like, I want I didn't. I don't want
- 13:51Speaker 1: to take away from their acting. Ah this I wanted
- 13:54Speaker 1: to say. Yeah. Last week, when we were discussing the
- 13:57Speaker 1: cases of Mystery Lane, we talked about a lot of
- 13:59Speaker 1: the dialogue, and you wonder if in some of those
- 14:01Speaker 1: scenes Paul Campbell had ad libs some of those I
- 14:04Speaker 1: saw a thread on Twitter that I wanted to point
- 14:07Speaker 1: out because I thought it was a really interesting It
- 14:09Speaker 1: was from Linda Holmes, who's a writer, and she said,
- 14:13Speaker 1: oftentimes when there's great dialogue, people will say, oh, did
- 14:17Speaker 1: the actor ad lip that? And she said, what I
- 14:19Speaker 1: think we forget is, and I'm paraphrasing her, is it's
- 14:23Speaker 1: an actor's job to show up and make you believe
- 14:26Speaker 1: that those lines are things that they would naturally say.
- 14:29Speaker 1: They're not delivering a line, and it's the writer's job
- 14:31Speaker 1: to write great lines. So when we say things like that,
- 14:36Speaker 1: it's like, well, a writer couldn't have come up here. Yeah,
- 14:38Speaker 1: so she said, just believe that the actor is that
- 14:41Speaker 1: good at their job and the writer is that good
- 14:43Speaker 1: at their job. I thought that was an interesting perspective.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So it is perhaps they're just fantastic actors, but I
- 14:49Speaker 1: think it was hot. It was. I liked the grounding
- 14:53Speaker 1: force of Aunt Dotie. I have something to say about
- 14:55Speaker 1: her my wish for section. Oh it's not a negative.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I just wanted into it. But I thought she was
- 15:02Speaker 1: a nice Instead of the best friend role, we get
- 15:05Speaker 1: this kind of like advisory and roll, and I really
- 15:09Speaker 1: liked her in that role. I thought she was obviously
- 15:11Speaker 1: very loving towards Beth, but she also was kind of
- 15:16Speaker 1: like a firm straight shooter. Yes, and I really liked
- 15:20Speaker 1: that she wasn't just beating her what she wanted to hear.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And same goes for Jake's character too. Yeah, she was.
- 15:28Speaker 1: She was firm but loving with them.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I agree she is on my liked list. But Samantha
- 15:33Speaker 2: Feris I enjoyed her quite a bit in the Most movie.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Not because I felt like a kismet with her, but
- 15:40Speaker 2: she was.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Not just because your boot buddies.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Because we're boot buddies. I enjoyed her quite a bit. Okay,
- 15:47Speaker 2: So in this movie, one thing I really liked was
- 15:50Speaker 2: that Jake goes to Beth in Washington at the end
- 15:54Speaker 2: of the movie, right, Yeah, he goes seeking her out.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Of course, like there's this whole like where do I
- 16:01Speaker 2: find her? Like kind of this thread like how did
- 16:04Speaker 2: they find her? Where do I find her? I'm like, yo,
- 16:08Speaker 2: what's the internet? Like you can find to anybody, right,
- 16:12Speaker 2: But I like that he went to seek her out.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And what I really liked about this movie is that
- 16:21Speaker 2: they have this conversation and she comes to the realization
- 16:24Speaker 2: that she is meant to be in Washington State, and
- 16:28Speaker 2: he's good with that, and he uproots his life to
- 16:32Speaker 2: stay there, which is such a opposite of everything we've
- 16:36Speaker 2: always gotten on Hallmark. That the woman uproots her entire
- 16:39Speaker 2: life for the dude. It was a nice twist that
- 16:44Speaker 2: I appreciated and liked and was like, But then again,
- 16:49Speaker 2: like his character, Jake's just like free spirit. I'm a
- 16:51Speaker 2: free lancer type photographer. There's nothing tying him to Los Angeles.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and he wants to break away from that shutter
- 16:59Speaker 1: bought celebs, right, So like that's very convenient. Yeah, it
- 17:03Speaker 1: worked out for both of them.
- 17:04Speaker 2: He's not like leaving his family and leaving his job
- 17:07Speaker 2: and leaving that you.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Know, yeah, so we'll take a win where we can
- 17:11Speaker 1: get yes exactly. One scene I kind of really liked
- 17:15Speaker 1: is the I'm embarrassed scene when he's taking photos of
- 17:18Speaker 1: her and she's like, oh, she like kind of gets
- 17:20Speaker 1: the ink because she stops him, and just the way
- 17:23Speaker 1: it's handled is so nice. He like immediately stops and
- 17:26Speaker 1: then in the rest of that scene, like they don't
- 17:28Speaker 1: really make a big deal of it. They move on.
- 17:30Speaker 1: But in the rest of that scene he's very respectful
- 17:33Speaker 1: of her boundaries, like he's going to show her how
- 17:35Speaker 1: to use the camera, like, oh, I'm going to teach
- 17:37Speaker 1: you how to golf. That moment, oh god, that was
- 17:39Speaker 1: a hot it was, But before he does it, he
- 17:42Speaker 1: doesn't just like immediately get in her space. He asks
- 17:45Speaker 1: her permission in a really natural way. I thought those
- 17:49Speaker 1: two scenes played really nicely together. My last thing that.
- 17:52Speaker 2: I liked about this I really enjoyed rhann and Fish overall,
- 17:56Speaker 2: and I like her as a lead. There were some
- 17:59Speaker 2: acting voices that bothered me a little bit, but I
- 18:02Speaker 2: think it's a me problem. But overall, I liked her.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I think she's stunning. I think she's a good actress.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I like I would watch her in other things.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Let's talk what we wished for. Okay, Well, because I
- 18:14Speaker 1: talked about Aunt Dotie, I wanted to talk about this
- 18:15Speaker 1: in my wish Adody just needed to slow her role
- 18:18Speaker 1: a little bit with her, Like, that's not a scooter pun,
- 18:21Speaker 1: is it? She?
- 18:23Speaker 2: You know?
- 18:24Speaker 1: With her? What are your intentions with our girl? They
- 18:26Speaker 1: haven't even kissed at this point. M m. Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Oh she's a little defensive, just because Beth had been
- 18:32Speaker 2: hurt before by some like Beattie in Los Angeles at earlier.
- 18:39Speaker 2: I know, I know I was thinking that too, Like
- 18:42Speaker 2: as a parent, would I be like, like my daughter
- 18:45Speaker 2: brought some due to home.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'd be like, you'll be careful. I don't think so
- 18:49Speaker 1: right away. No, No, I want that person to like me. Yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you want to develop a relationship, Yeah, exactly. I fe
- 18:58Speaker 1: a few things hard to believe in this movie, Yeah,
- 19:02Speaker 1: such as best photo going viral. I'm quoting viral guys.
- 19:10Speaker 2: First of all, it's on some to me, like on
- 19:15Speaker 2: a magazine that you find in a free stand, like.
- 19:19Speaker 1: A like the OC Weekly something like that.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yes, Like it's it's basically full of advertisements and it's
- 19:27Speaker 2: a local magazine.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Right, So I had.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Some problems with like, oh, now her photos on the front,
- 19:35Speaker 2: which is great, fine, whatever, But now she's like this
- 19:38Speaker 2: instant celebrity where like people are taking selfies with her
- 19:43Speaker 2: on the street after the magazine hits.
- 19:46Speaker 1: The free newsstand. Thousand percent. I was bothered by that.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Now would it be more believable to.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Me if this was like an internet magazine or a
- 19:57Speaker 2: meme or something where there could be a viral moment
- 20:03Speaker 2: of this person. Yes, that I would find more believable
- 20:06Speaker 2: when they do have a web presence. So listener Mike
- 20:10Speaker 2: sent in his thoughts on this movie, and one of
- 20:12Speaker 2: the things he said was like, Oh, I don't live
- 20:14Speaker 2: in La, but I found that moment where they're all
- 20:16Speaker 2: taking selfies with her unbelievable.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Well, it's even less believable in LA for sure. Nobody cares.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're all trying to do the same thing
- 20:25Speaker 2: in La.
- 20:26Speaker 1: You stand moment, I was like, Eh, here's what I think.
- 20:30Speaker 1: This photo isn't an iconic photo like the kiss taken
- 20:34Speaker 1: in Time Square on VJ Day. You know the photo
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'm talking about it's a beautiful photo. She's a beautiful woman.
- 20:41Speaker 1: If someone took that photo of me, I'd blow it
- 20:43Speaker 1: up and hang it over my fireplace. But with the Internet,
- 20:49Speaker 1: photos like that are a little bit of dime. A
- 20:51Speaker 1: dozen beautiful women. Was it like, Oh, we're seeing into
- 20:56Speaker 1: her soul, she's having this private moment. Maybe I like
- 20:59Speaker 1: that story that he had captured this moment of her. Yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 1: I just wasn't so sure that I bought the virality
- 21:07Speaker 1: of it all. They want you on this talk show,
- 21:10Speaker 1: they want you in this ad campaign. I agree the
- 21:13Speaker 1: meme comment is great, Like something else needed to happen.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It needed to be more about just the photo.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Right, I'm not saying like this has never happened. And
- 21:21Speaker 2: the incident that comes to mind is when Pam Anderson
- 21:25Speaker 2: was seen at a hockey game and she was like
- 21:29Speaker 2: in the audience, in the crowd at a hockey game,
- 21:31Speaker 2: and they put her up on the big screen and
- 21:33Speaker 2: then from there she was like asked to be in
- 21:37Speaker 2: a campaign for like a beer thing, and blah blah blah.
- 21:39Speaker 2: This is like a million years ago. And if you
- 21:40Speaker 2: have known this recently watched her documentary on Netflix, you
- 21:44Speaker 2: would understand my reference here, But like, so it does
- 21:48Speaker 2: happen when like some person is picked.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Out of obscurity. Sure, right, I just didn't buy it
- 21:55Speaker 1: for this movie. I'm not saying like it cannot happen.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I don't disagree. I agree both your points there. That
- 22:01Speaker 1: being said, the conflict about him having taken the photo,
- 22:07Speaker 1: accidentally submitting it, she ends up on the cover. She's
- 22:10Speaker 1: mad that he lied. I didn't think we needed any
- 22:13Speaker 1: of that. I think the conflict about Jake being shutter
- 22:18Speaker 1: bought and not being forthright about that, not about that
- 22:22Speaker 1: he had taken his picture, but about she knows him
- 22:25Speaker 1: as this photographer who captures beautiful moments of people, of landscapes.
- 22:29Speaker 1: He really likes to see things through that lens. But
- 22:33Speaker 1: really where he probably makes most of his money is
- 22:36Speaker 1: in these salacious celebrity photos, which is why he uses
- 22:39Speaker 1: this fake name. And I think there's enough conflict in
- 22:44Speaker 1: the contrast between those two personalities, or at least what
- 22:48Speaker 1: he sees as the contrast between those personalities, without needing
- 22:52Speaker 1: this lie about that photo again, then you don't have
- 22:56Speaker 1: a movie. But it would be a very different movie.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I just I don't know.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I agree with you. I think that whole thing could
- 23:05Speaker 2: have been easily cleared up.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He had the moment when he hands her the frame. Yeah,
- 23:10Speaker 1: I took it, and he chickened out. Yeah, I don't.
- 23:13Speaker 1: You're a tough guy who rides a motorcycle. Yeah, dude,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you've got this. Yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I just also would like to note that it's funny
- 23:23Speaker 2: that they made his character Jake.
- 23:25Speaker 1: To be this like paparazzi guy.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Right, And I think at a time in Los Angeles
- 23:31Speaker 2: there was this huge like paparazzi on every street corner
- 23:37Speaker 2: in Los Angeles, in Hollywood looking for that photo of
- 23:42Speaker 2: a celebrity, you know, coming out of a store, coming
- 23:44Speaker 2: at whatever.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I don't think there's a market for it anymore like
- 23:48Speaker 2: it was in the early two thousands.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Because of the social media. Yes, because of social media,
- 23:53Speaker 1: because you got tipster Jianis. If she's sitting at that
- 23:56Speaker 1: restaurant and that musician is there with not his Yes,
- 24:01Speaker 1: she's kinda taking that photo posted on Instagram and it's
- 24:04Speaker 1: gonna go viral.
- 24:04Speaker 2: There, yes, and then all the news outlets then pick
- 24:07Speaker 2: it up.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Like, I don't think there is And I don't know
- 24:11Speaker 1: shit about shit, but I don't think there is, like
- 24:14Speaker 1: I said, like a market, Like there's no like price
- 24:17Speaker 1: tag on this like one photo anymore, not the way
- 24:21Speaker 1: it was for sure. Yeah. You know, as an example,
- 24:24Speaker 1: Wendy's deep into the vander Pupper Rules drama and they
- 24:27Speaker 1: just film the reunion and there's all these photos of
- 24:30Speaker 1: outside the reunion of people, you know, catching this drama
- 24:35Speaker 1: that's happening. Those are all cell phone photos. Those are
- 24:37Speaker 1: not Nobody is there with DSLR telephoto lens, you know,
- 24:42Speaker 1: tell get someone like zooming in from behind a car,
- 24:44Speaker 1: right exactly.
- 24:47Speaker 2: So it's just it's it's a weird storyline to me,
- 24:49Speaker 2: And I can understand, like he is maybe a little
- 24:53Speaker 2: ashamed and embarrassed and he has this job that pays
- 24:55Speaker 2: the bills while his true art is like taking photographs
- 24:59Speaker 2: of beautiful things. Like I can understand that whole thing
- 25:03Speaker 2: and actually think that to me is like what would
- 25:08Speaker 2: have made the movie really interesting if we would have
- 25:11Speaker 2: like deep dived into that.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I yeah, I think there's more of
- 25:19Speaker 1: a reveal there when she realizes that he's maybe hidden
- 25:25Speaker 1: this other part of himself and what does that mean
- 25:27Speaker 1: a boy who he is when he's exploiting these parts
- 25:30Speaker 1: of other people's lives. Yes, yes, private moment.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I thought Beth, the character of Beth acted very naive
- 25:39Speaker 2: at times.
- 25:40Speaker 1: And you're to tell.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Me that this is a girl who is educated, who
- 25:45Speaker 2: has lived in La on her own already and now
- 25:48Speaker 2: is returning. But she's so like to me when she's
- 25:52Speaker 2: being propositioned for the talk show, on a commercial and
- 25:56Speaker 2: all this stuff, and like believes this like smarmy agent guy.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Why is she being so naive like she would like
- 26:05Speaker 1: she rolled up off a bus in Hollywood, you know
- 26:08Speaker 1: what I mean? Like, I'm like, I don't it just
- 26:12Speaker 1: the two size of this character didn't make sense to me. Yes,
- 26:18Speaker 1: I don't disagree. All right, let's talk. Did you see that? Yes,
- 26:22Speaker 1: When the actress Devin Davies gets arrested for shoplifting, Jennie comments,
- 26:26Speaker 1: I guess a million the movie isn't enough. And I
- 26:28Speaker 1: think that line should have been like ten million in
- 26:30Speaker 1: the movie, because I don't think a million the movie
- 26:33Speaker 1: is a lot of money. I'd take a million a movie. Sure,
- 26:37Speaker 1: if we're to believe this person is a huge star,
- 26:40Speaker 1: to the point that her shoplifting is going to be
- 26:43Speaker 1: big news.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Right, Well, It's a real throwback to then when like
- 26:47Speaker 2: why notna a writer shoplifted Lindsay's low handed. It was
- 26:50Speaker 2: all during that time, you know what I mean. And
- 26:53Speaker 2: they weren't shoplifting because they didn't have money.
- 26:55Speaker 1: No, of course, not shoplifting for the thrill of it.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Right, There's one line when they are getting ready to
- 27:01Speaker 2: eat some ice cream and then there's a line about
- 27:04Speaker 2: the Los Angeles weather and they say something like it
- 27:08Speaker 2: has been raining a lot. And it was funny because
- 27:10Speaker 2: I know this movie was made months ago, but for
- 27:14Speaker 2: people who don't live in southern California, it has rained
- 27:17Speaker 2: a lot here. And I just thought it was really
- 27:19Speaker 2: funny like that.
- 27:21Speaker 1: That lined up. It was a it was a reference. Yes,
- 27:25Speaker 1: it worked out, it worked out for them. Yeah. Am
- 27:27Speaker 1: I to believe that he rode his motorcycle from Los
- 27:30Speaker 1: Angeles to Washington? That's like two days by car? I know,
- 27:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I thought about that same thing too, because.
- 27:36Speaker 2: In my mind I was like, wait a minute, it
- 27:38Speaker 2: takes like fourteen hours to get to Orgon. I think, yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 2: and then Washington is.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Above Orgon, Like that's a lot of driving. Did he
- 27:48Speaker 1: stop driven from here to Seattle? It took us two days.
- 27:53Speaker 1: It's a long drive. Yeah, we're supposed to believe he
- 27:57Speaker 1: rode his motorcycle. Okay, cool guy.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of riding things, no one rides bicycles in
- 28:02Speaker 2: Los Angeles, guys.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Do you get run over? And on top of the
- 28:05Speaker 1: Vicente is like a freaking freeway. I ride my bike
- 28:08Speaker 1: on San Vicente. No, you don't. Well, And what's funny
- 28:11Speaker 1: to because we're ever they were going and they were
- 28:15Speaker 1: like shopping or something. They like parked their bikes, did
- 28:18Speaker 1: not lock them walk away from those those are gone
- 28:20Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. No, you just don't know. Yeah, the
- 28:24Speaker 1: the Los Angeles scenes were entirely too pretty to be LA. Yeah,
- 28:29Speaker 1: break it to you, guys. There's a lot to be
- 28:30Speaker 1: said for LA. Unfortunately, it's not pretty. No, there's pockets
- 28:35Speaker 1: that are pretty.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I think two things and one scene they were eating
- 28:39Speaker 2: ice cream and it looked like they were I don't
- 28:41Speaker 2: know if you remember this, but there was an ice
- 28:43Speaker 2: cream cart and then they go to sit down in
- 28:44Speaker 2: the behind the ice cream cart and it looks like
- 28:47Speaker 2: a COVID era like outdoor dining space that they built
- 28:52Speaker 2: like on.
- 28:52Speaker 1: The streets, said, like wooden steps, something like that.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Okay, they use the same exact spot.
- 28:58Speaker 1: For the next day. When he gives her the photo, he.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Gives her the Yes, it's not the ice cream spot anymore.
- 29:03Speaker 1: No, the cart was gone. Yeah. Speaking of farmers' markets,
- 29:06Speaker 1: people only dinner shop at the farmer's market, and.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Movies never do I go to the farmer's No, I
- 29:12Speaker 2: go to the grocery store. Yes, I love the idea
- 29:15Speaker 2: of going to a farmer's market, like, oh, let me
- 29:17Speaker 2: go get my fresh ingredients.
- 29:18Speaker 1: No, I don't do that. No, I'd like to bring
- 29:21Speaker 1: back a segment I like to call Bangon's husband says, Okay.
- 29:26Speaker 1: First up, after Jake tells Aunt Dotie that he fell
- 29:28Speaker 1: in love with Beth, he shouts at the TV three
- 29:30Speaker 1: days because oh yeah. And then when Beth at the
- 29:33Speaker 1: end of the movie asked Jake, why didn't you tell me,
- 29:35Speaker 1: he says, because then Hollmark couldn't draw this dumb conversation
- 29:38Speaker 1: out into a two hour movie. Yeah, he's really turned
- 29:42Speaker 1: like he likes a Christmas movie. But yeah, he's become
- 29:45Speaker 1: more cynical. Yeah, he doesn't like the non fall non
- 29:50Speaker 1: Christmas movies.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I mean, but it's the same stories, different seasons.
- 29:55Speaker 1: So he just likes the esthetics of the Christmas movie.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I will say when he didn't watch this, but when
- 30:00Speaker 1: he came downstairs, he was like, at least you get
- 30:02Speaker 1: a pretty faced a lot.
- 30:03Speaker 2: So was he talking about Tyler Team Tyler Hides? Speaking
- 30:08Speaker 2: of Tyler Hines, Hallmark failed this. He did not have
- 30:10Speaker 2: a candy cane in his mouth or like a toothpick. However,
- 30:16Speaker 2: I don't know if you caught it. At the beginning
- 30:18Speaker 2: of the movie, he's like fiddling with his camera stuff
- 30:21Speaker 2: and he does have a camera piece hanging out of
- 30:24Speaker 2: his mouth. It is in his mouth.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that sounds familiar, but yeah, I need like a toothpick.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Did you see the Jonathan Bennett Instagram story I did
- 30:36Speaker 1: Little Tyler Hines's moment I did. It's gone otherwise we
- 30:38Speaker 1: would share it for you, all right. Would you rate
- 30:42Speaker 1: this movie? I gave it four stars. Oh it was.
- 30:47Speaker 1: It was nice to look at. I enjoyed it. I was.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I don't expect more than a four star movie unless
- 30:56Speaker 2: it includes Andrew Walker and Paul Campbell and is written
- 30:59Speaker 2: by Paul can and can release us it.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Yeah. I gave it three point seven five stars. Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 1: it was a good It was a solid movie. I
- 31:11Speaker 1: I did ask in our Girls Gone Homework Facebook group,
- 31:14Speaker 1: like if this is people's new favorite Tyler hines movies.
- 31:18Speaker 1: A lot of votes Yes, A.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Lot of people also said that it was Always You
- 31:23Speaker 2: is remains our favorite.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's funny. I would not call that my favorite
- 31:29Speaker 1: Tyler Hines's movie.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Enjoyed it, didn't love it. Love those steamy kissing scenes.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but twenty two percent of our votes said the
- 31:40Speaker 1: best Tyler Heineses movie of all time forty one. Not
- 31:42Speaker 1: as good as it was Always You thirteen percent good,
- 31:46Speaker 1: But Unexpected Christmas is still the king. Well.
- 31:49Speaker 2: What I like about Unexpected Christmas more than this movie
- 31:53Speaker 2: is because, and we talked about this off air too,
- 31:57Speaker 2: is that Tyler was so tiler in this movie. He
- 32:01Speaker 2: didn't like stretch beyond like I don't know if he
- 32:05Speaker 2: really had to act.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, yeah what I mean.
- 32:08Speaker 2: But an Unexpected Christmas very comedic. Yes, so it was
- 32:13Speaker 2: nice to see him in a role like that.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my two cents, all right. Coming up from
- 32:20Speaker 1: us later this week, we have our recap of the
- 32:23Speaker 1: Way Home season finale. We also have our recap coming
