- 1:01Speaker 1: or computer by subscribing wherever you get your podcasts. It's
- 1:06Speaker 1: the greatest thing since the satisfaction of fixing something. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: am the world's least handy person. Aside from changing the
- 1:16Speaker 1: occasional light bulb and filling my gas tank, I'm pretty worthless.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But I'm trying to be more of a duet erself
- 1:23Speaker 1: kind of guy. And recently I took care of a
- 1:26Speaker 1: home project involving a water pump and multiple hoses and
- 1:30Speaker 1: I didn't ruin anything. So lookout, lows and home depot
- 1:36Speaker 1: handy man. Dan will be roaming the aisles soon. Now
- 1:41Speaker 1: let's get to the first night of the draft. Here's
- 1:44Speaker 1: what Dane Brugler, the draft guru for The Athletic, recently
- 1:48Speaker 1: wrote about Daxton Hill. Arguably the top nickel defender in
- 1:52Speaker 1: the draft. Hill can cover wide receivers and tight ends
- 1:55Speaker 1: while also providing a thump in the run game and
- 1:58Speaker 1: as a blitzer. Although he has the size of a cornerback,
- 2:02Speaker 1: he should test off the charts and plays with the
- 2:04Speaker 1: toughness of a safety. With his versatile skills, Hill is
- 2:08Speaker 1: exactly what several teams are searching for in their secondaries.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Now let's hear from Zach Taylor on Dax Hill. I'm
- 2:18Speaker 1: really excited about him. You know, he was a player
- 2:20Speaker 1: that we thought very highly of. Surprised he was there
- 2:22Speaker 1: for us and really eager to add him Adam to
- 2:25Speaker 1: our team. We think he's been a great weapon for
- 2:27Speaker 1: us on defense. You can use him a lot of
- 2:28Speaker 1: different ways, and really really fired up to get him
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the building. He can play a couple different spots.
- 2:34Speaker 1: You know, he's a safety, he's played Nichol. You know,
- 2:36Speaker 1: he's got the athleticism to do a lot of different things.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So I think the first thing is just getting in
- 2:41Speaker 1: the building, and certainly we have a vision for him
- 2:43Speaker 1: internally of how to utilize him. But I think he
- 2:46Speaker 1: could just be a from an assess it force some defense.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Hill ran a four three eight forty at the combine
- 2:51Speaker 1: and also had elite scores in the agility drills. Here's
- 2:54Speaker 1: defensive coordinator lou Anna Rumo. Yeah, I think his measurables
- 2:58Speaker 1: are great. You know, you look at what he ran
- 2:59Speaker 1: and all the all those different things that you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: we we're gonna chase around two of the toughest quarterbacks
- 3:06Speaker 1: in the league this year four times, you know, and
- 3:09Speaker 1: the more speed we have on the field, what better
- 3:10Speaker 1: will be m So he lends that um and uh,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you know it's going there's certainly going to be a
- 3:16Speaker 1: learning curve there is for every rookie, especially in the
- 3:19Speaker 1: back end. Um, So you know, we'll we'll give him
- 3:23Speaker 1: just enough on his plate to see how much he
- 3:24Speaker 1: can handle and kind of take it from there. Well.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Listed as a safety, he always used extensively as a
- 3:29Speaker 1: slot corner this past season at Michigan and was named
- 3:32Speaker 1: first team All Conferenced by Big Ten coaches. His Swiss
- 3:36Speaker 1: Army Night versatility is a great fit for Anna Rumo's defense. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: I think it's important. You know, the way when you
- 3:42Speaker 1: look at offenses these days, and the way tight ends
- 3:45Speaker 1: are utilized and running backs out of the backfield and
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, just different different things. You know, this guy
- 3:50Speaker 1: can you know, he can blitz off the edge, he
- 3:52Speaker 1: can cover, um, you know, he's good against the run
- 3:55Speaker 1: and get good good getting off blocks and things like that.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So I think we're getting a good overall overall football player.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You know, we'll see we'll get him in here and
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know, see what the shiny new toy can do.
- 4:06Speaker 1: So we're excited about it. The twenty one year old
- 4:09Speaker 1: Hill is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and he watched the draft
- 4:12Speaker 1: with about sixty friends and family members last night. Daxton
- 4:16Speaker 1: spoke to Cincinnati reporters over the phone about thirty minutes
- 4:20Speaker 1: after being selected and said being drafted by an NFL
- 4:23Speaker 1: team was a dream come true. I tell you for sure.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I mean definitely last few years, I mean just growing
- 4:29Speaker 1: up kind of watching football and now, you know, throughout
- 4:33Speaker 1: my college career, no one that I had an opportunity
- 4:35Speaker 1: goes into the field. You know, it's you know, a
- 4:37Speaker 1: great experience that you know, actually see consol fruition and
- 4:40Speaker 1: you know, me having an opportunity, you know, to play
- 4:43Speaker 1: at the next level. So for sure. The Bengals first
- 4:46Speaker 1: met with Hill at the NFL scouting Combine and in
- 4:49Speaker 1: the weeks that followed showed plenty of interest. Um, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: had a good feeling, you know with some of the coaches.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I had a former band former like you said, at
- 4:58Speaker 1: the combine, and then throughout able had a few zoom
- 5:01Speaker 1: calls with them, so not too much like communication, but
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know a little bit communication. And then today also
- 5:08Speaker 1: taught with them before the draft, saying you know, hopefully
- 5:10Speaker 1: we can you know, get you if you're still available.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So that's what they did, and I'm glad, you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm glad that they chosen as for his role. Does
- 5:18Speaker 1: he see himself as a safety or a slot corner.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I mean, I came in at safety, so I feel like,
- 5:23Speaker 1: you know, safety, that's where I started at. And then
- 5:26Speaker 1: you know, this year, having that slot corner role something
- 5:30Speaker 1: I really developed, you know, throughout the season. So I
- 5:32Speaker 1: can see myself you know, doing either or. But yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 1: for sure, you know, coming in as a safety, definitely
- 5:37Speaker 1: have you know, instincts as a safety and then can
- 5:40Speaker 1: also play that that slot corner. Nexton, we'll catch a
- 5:43Speaker 1: flight to Cincinnati on Friday and hold a news cop
- 5:46Speaker 1: pence at three in the afternoon. The Bengals Booth podcast
- 5:49Speaker 1: is presented by Ultimate Bengals, the free to play fantasy
- 5:52Speaker 1: football game. This past season, Ultimate Bengals awarded a weekly
- 5:56Speaker 1: winner during the course of the year with tickets, autograph merchandise,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and money can buy experiences all up for grabs. Find
- 6:04Speaker 1: Ultimate Bengals in the app Store and Google Play. Now,
- 6:08Speaker 1: time to recap Round one with Dave lapham Lap. Most
- 6:12Speaker 1: of the draft guru seemed to think the Bengals are
- 6:14Speaker 1: going to take a cornerback in Round one. They took
- 6:16Speaker 1: somebody in the secondary, but he is primarily a safety
- 6:20Speaker 1: who played a lot of slot corner Daxton Hill from Michigan.
- 6:24Speaker 1: What's your reaction, Yeah, And I think, you know, they
- 6:26Speaker 1: think that he might be able to play outside as well.
- 6:28Speaker 1: They're going to take a look. He's got the speed
- 6:30Speaker 1: to do it. Does he have the fluidity and the
- 6:33Speaker 1: you know, flip the hips and be able to run
- 6:35Speaker 1: with guys and track the ball down the football field.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And but he gives them a lot of position Versatility's
- 6:42Speaker 1: almost position less as such. And Louiana Rumo loves that.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I mean that Lui A. Rumo with with the versatility
- 6:50Speaker 1: in the personnel that he had without having to substitute,
- 6:55Speaker 1: played havoc with Patrick Mahomes and others. Particularly in Mahomes
- 7:00Speaker 1: in the second half of that playoff game, he didn't
- 7:01Speaker 1: know what he was looking at and that a lot
- 7:04Speaker 1: of it was a three safety package, so and the
- 7:07Speaker 1: third safety was covering tight ends. He can do that
- 7:10Speaker 1: as well. He can blitz obviously, he can play slot
- 7:14Speaker 1: corner and come off the slot like like Hilton has
- 7:17Speaker 1: done so well for the Bengals. He can do that
- 7:19Speaker 1: for him. He's got the range in the speed to
- 7:21Speaker 1: be able to play you know, deep middle at the
- 7:25Speaker 1: safety position. He could be a spy if lou Aroma decided,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you know what, these quarterbacks were playing Lamar Jackson Watson
- 7:32Speaker 1: and these mobile quarterbacks. You know, sometimes you spy at
- 7:35Speaker 1: the linebacker or a safety level. He could provide that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I mean, there's a lot of things you can do
- 7:39Speaker 1: with a guy like this, and so I think that
- 7:42Speaker 1: that was the reason that they said, you know, this
- 7:45Speaker 1: guy is a Swiss Army knife. This is a big
- 7:48Speaker 1: tool in the toolbox that we can do a lot
- 7:50Speaker 1: of things with. And when you can change your defensive
- 7:53Speaker 1: look dramatically by not even having to substitute because of
- 7:58Speaker 1: that player versatility, in today's NFL, you got something cooking.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And you know, they feel like they can address the
- 8:05Speaker 1: true corner position later in the draft because they I
- 8:09Speaker 1: don't think they expected this guy to be there, and honestly,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I don't think he expected to be there either. Daxton
- 8:15Speaker 1: Hill is six feet tall, one hundred ninety one pounds.
- 8:17Speaker 1: He ran a four three eight forties, so he's got
- 8:20Speaker 1: great speed, had elite scores in the shuttle and the
- 8:24Speaker 1: three cone agility drills. Apparently not the strongest guy in
- 8:27Speaker 1: the world, but guys that are run for three eight
- 8:31Speaker 1: forties generally, aren't you know, tremendous weightlifters. Where do you
- 8:36Speaker 1: see him being used right away? Do you see him
- 8:40Speaker 1: getting a lot of snaps or somebody who is you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: going to get a little taste of it as a
- 8:46Speaker 1: rookie and eventually play a major role. I think it
- 8:49Speaker 1: depends on what else they do in the draft at
- 8:51Speaker 1: the corner position, because I think if he's their best
- 8:55Speaker 1: guy as a third safety, that he gives them more
- 9:00Speaker 1: more versatility. Um as as a third safety, they can
- 9:04Speaker 1: play slot corner. You could play a ton you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: if they draft a corner in the in the second
- 9:11Speaker 1: round or third round or whatever, that proves that he's
- 9:15Speaker 1: a hell of a player, you know, you can he
- 9:17Speaker 1: may not have as many snaps and as many packages.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That would be a great problem to have, you know,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I mean to be able to have numbers back there
- 9:27Speaker 1: that you could utilize and you can utilize differently with
- 9:30Speaker 1: those numbers. Because of the versatility that Dax Hill provides,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I think is a is a big, big plus for
- 9:36Speaker 1: Louanna Rumo, who you know, that's where that's his football
- 9:40Speaker 1: bones is on the back end. I mean, that's his
- 9:43Speaker 1: his his his football history it's his football genetics. So
- 9:48Speaker 1: I think he's excited about, you know, having Dax Hill
- 9:50Speaker 1: come in here and take a look at what he
- 9:52Speaker 1: can do physically and and uh, you know, go back
- 9:55Speaker 1: to the defensive coordinatal laboratory and pull out the beacons
- 9:59Speaker 1: and the and the test tubes and put some things
- 10:02Speaker 1: together and involving Dax Hill. So, um, he's a talent.
- 10:06Speaker 1: There's no question about it. And I mean when you
- 10:09Speaker 1: when you talk about you know, the killer bees, Bates
- 10:13Speaker 1: and Bell and this kid at safety, you know, I
- 10:16Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know how many trios and much
- 10:17Speaker 1: better than that across the National Football League. That's that's
- 10:20Speaker 1: pretty good, pretty good group right there. Jesse Bates will
- 10:24Speaker 1: obviously play on the franchise tag unless they work out
- 10:26Speaker 1: on extension before July thirty first. Von Bell's going into
- 10:30Speaker 1: the final year of his three year deal. How big
- 10:32Speaker 1: of a factor were those contracts in drafting Daxton Hill.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I think in today's NFL, you know, you always have
- 10:38Speaker 1: to be ready to uh to move move accordingly depending
- 10:43Speaker 1: on these type of situations salary cap issues. Am I
- 10:47Speaker 1: going to be able to sign these guys? Where am
- 10:49Speaker 1: I with with the cap what do I have coming up? Um,
- 10:53Speaker 1: So it's it's always you always have to be ready
- 10:56Speaker 1: and nimble to you know, not cripple yourself at a
- 10:59Speaker 1: position group. Um and depth is never a problem, particularly
- 11:04Speaker 1: a guy like this that you know, to me, I'm
- 11:07Speaker 1: not sure i'd call him a safety or a corner.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I call him a defensive back. You know, I think
- 11:13Speaker 1: I think this guy is, like I said, almost positionless
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you know, gives gives them a lot of a
- 11:20Speaker 1: lot of latitude. There's there's no question about it. And
- 11:23Speaker 1: depending on how he pans out, Um, he's he's something
- 11:29Speaker 1: good to have on your roster from a sarity cap standpoint,
- 11:33Speaker 1: because could you could you potentially count him as whatever, corner? Yeah, whatever, safety, Yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 1: I mean he's got that kind of flexibility and ability
- 11:42Speaker 1: to him potentially. Three picks before the Bengals, the Packers
- 11:45Speaker 1: selected defensive tackle DeVante Wyatt out of Georgia. One pick
- 11:49Speaker 1: before the Bengals, the chief selected defensive end George Karloftus
- 11:52Speaker 1: of Purdue. If either of those two guys was on
- 11:55Speaker 1: the board, do you think the Bengals would have selected
- 11:57Speaker 1: them instead? You know, prop possibly, I think I would have.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Johnson was there pretty late. I mean, those guys Wyatt
- 12:07Speaker 1: a three technique you're down a man in the in
- 12:10Speaker 1: the defensive tackle three technique position. If Wyatt's there, you
- 12:13Speaker 1: gotta give that serious consideration. If Johnson's there as an
- 12:17Speaker 1: edge guy, and karloftis and they both were into the
- 12:20Speaker 1: late twenties, I mean, it was like the draft pretty
- 12:23Speaker 1: much once he got to like there were five picks.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I counted at least five guys that I would have
- 12:27Speaker 1: been okay with, you know, including Booth. And they didn't
- 12:30Speaker 1: have to get that far because they had guys that
- 12:33Speaker 1: were there that I don't think they anticipated that would
- 12:35Speaker 1: be there. But in a lot of cases people that
- 12:38Speaker 1: anticipate Booth would have been there either. But the fact
- 12:40Speaker 1: that that so many receivers were taken so early, I
- 12:43Speaker 1: mean that that was a big benefit to the Bengals.
- 12:45Speaker 1: There was no question about it. You know, quarterbacks nobody
- 12:48Speaker 1: went before twenty so. But I mean there was a
- 12:51Speaker 1: run on defensive defensive ends in the beginning. There were
- 12:57Speaker 1: five defensive players taken, three edge guys, two corners with
- 13:01Speaker 1: the first five picks, and I thought, uh boy, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and then all the offensive players started going offensive tackles went,
- 13:07Speaker 1: a center went to interior lineman went, I'm like, oh okay,
- 13:10Speaker 1: now we're cooking. We got a bunch of receivers and
- 13:12Speaker 1: a bunch of offensive lineman went, there's gonna be some
- 13:14Speaker 1: defensive players for the Bengals at the back end. And
- 13:16Speaker 1: as it all unfolded, there they were, you know, a
- 13:19Speaker 1: handful of them sitting right there at the end of
- 13:22Speaker 1: the first round where they could just kind of patiently,
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know, be disciplined and be patient and see what
- 13:27Speaker 1: see what was going to be left. What do you
- 13:29Speaker 1: think of the Ravens getting Tyler Linderbaum with the twenty
- 13:32Speaker 1: fifth pick. Yeah, I mean I think that's where a
- 13:35Speaker 1: lot of people had him, you know, in the twenties.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I think Linderbaum is a is an outstanding football player.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I think he's as good a finisher as a blocker, tenacious,
- 13:46Speaker 1: you know, he just a great, tremendous motor, great motor
- 13:51Speaker 1: could fit for Baltimore or the running game. I think. So,
- 13:54Speaker 1: you know, I think that it's going to be it'll
- 13:56Speaker 1: be interesting to see how he handles these really big
- 14:00Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna these big nose tackles. I mean,
- 14:04Speaker 1: what what how's How's that? That's the that's the concerned
- 14:08Speaker 1: with him is he's undersized, you know, two hundred and
- 14:10Speaker 1: ninety three pounds with short arms. But he was a
- 14:13Speaker 1: wrestler and he knows leverage and he sinks his hips.
- 14:15Speaker 1: He plays with a low pad level. You know, he
- 14:18Speaker 1: anchors pretty well at the collegiate level. Will he be?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Will DJ Reader handle this kid? Now? DJ Reader is
- 14:25Speaker 1: going to have to bring his lunch pale because this
- 14:28Speaker 1: kid will not quit. He will play from snap to whistle,
- 14:32Speaker 1: every single snap. He's not going to quit. It'll be
- 14:35Speaker 1: it'll be interesting. There's going to be some some big
- 14:38Speaker 1: interior defensive lineman just in this division that it's going
- 14:42Speaker 1: to be a challenge for this young man. But uh,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know, I do believe that when you watch his
- 14:49Speaker 1: college tape, there's no doubt that he definitely deserved to
- 14:53Speaker 1: be a first round draft pick. You mentioned the run
- 14:56Speaker 1: on wide receivers. Between picks eight and twelve, there were
- 15:00Speaker 1: four wide receivers selected, including three that were together at
- 15:04Speaker 1: Ohio State. At one point six of the first eighteen
- 15:07Speaker 1: picks were wide receivers. It's a good year to be
- 15:09Speaker 1: set at wide receiver, like the Bengals are because not
- 15:12Speaker 1: only where those wide receivers selected, but Tennessee trades Aj
- 15:17Speaker 1: Brown to the Eagles, the Ravens trade Hollywood Brown to
- 15:20Speaker 1: the Cardinals. Earlier in the offseason, Davante Adams, Tyreek Kill,
- 15:23Speaker 1: Amari Cooper all got dealt. The wide receiver market has
- 15:28Speaker 1: gone crazy. It was the wild Wild West. The trades
- 15:32Speaker 1: and a lot of what was due to the wide receivers,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and a lot of it is we're not going to
- 15:35Speaker 1: pay our wide receiver twenty million. We don't have a
- 15:38Speaker 1: rookie quarterback with the rookie contract. We can't afford that.
- 15:42Speaker 1: So you move the wide receiver to a team that
- 15:44Speaker 1: feels like they can fit it into their salary cap,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and you replace it with a highly drafted rookie and
- 15:48Speaker 1: hope that there's not going to be a major fall
- 15:51Speaker 1: off a cliff in terms of talent. But yeah, it
- 15:54Speaker 1: was incredible the way they're basically dumping salary, you know
- 15:59Speaker 1: before they have to negotiate these astronomical deals. And you know,
- 16:04Speaker 1: the safety position a couple of years ago, you know
- 16:07Speaker 1: started climbing, Well now it's leveled off and kind of declined.
- 16:10Speaker 1: So you know, what does what does that mean for
- 16:13Speaker 1: the Jesse Bates negotiation with the Cincinnati Bengals. Obviously this year, Uh,
- 16:17Speaker 1: there's a strong chance that he could be playing out
- 16:21Speaker 1: you know, the franchise tag. But you know, you never know,
- 16:24Speaker 1: you never know if you can, if you can get
- 16:26Speaker 1: him sign or not. But if you can't, you know
- 16:28Speaker 1: you've got a guy that you can potentially groom for
- 16:31Speaker 1: a year to move to that position if necessary. So
- 16:34Speaker 1: you always have to you have to be as flexible
- 16:39Speaker 1: as the players are. You have to have personnel flexibility,
- 16:43Speaker 1: you know, not just position versatility for the players. You
- 16:45Speaker 1: have to have personnel and salary cap flexibility as as
- 16:49Speaker 1: an organization as well. As everybody knows the Bengals can
- 16:52Speaker 1: start working on a Joe Burrow extension next year. If
- 16:55Speaker 1: Joe wants to continue to throw to both te Higgins
- 16:58Speaker 1: and Jamar Chase the future, he's going to have to
- 17:02Speaker 1: be very willing to work out the type of deal
- 17:05Speaker 1: that allows the Bengals to keep some of these guys,
- 17:08Speaker 1: whether it means taking a little less or structuring it
- 17:10Speaker 1: in such a way that gives the Bengal some flexibility.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Because Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase are both tracking to
- 17:16Speaker 1: be twenty million dollar guys. Yeah, And I mean even
- 17:19Speaker 1: if he does give you a hometown discount as such,
- 17:22Speaker 1: can you still afford it? Can you still afford a
- 17:24Speaker 1: quarterback that? I mean he deserves me in the top five,
- 17:29Speaker 1: there's no doubt about that. Probably top three, maybe even
- 17:31Speaker 1: better than that. So if you're up there at that number,
- 17:34Speaker 1: you know you're looking at forty million a year plus
- 17:38Speaker 1: another forty million between two receivers, mana chevits. That TV
- 17:42Speaker 1: contract better be sweet sugar atte. I mean, there better
- 17:45Speaker 1: be a salary cap that's just like out of the
- 17:47Speaker 1: stratosphere to be able to And that's what you don't know,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you know exactly what that number is going to be.
- 17:53Speaker 1: But I do think that Joe Burrow, in my mind,
- 17:56Speaker 1: seems to be the kind of guy that you know,
- 17:59Speaker 1: is reasonable about. My goals are to I want to
- 18:04Speaker 1: be successful. I've got personal goals, but the team goals
- 18:09Speaker 1: are the biggest in my mind. I mean, he definitely
- 18:12Speaker 1: he's been on a national championship team, he came within
- 18:15Speaker 1: a whisker of being on a super Bowl championship team.
- 18:19Speaker 1: He wants to win the ring in the NFL, just
- 18:22Speaker 1: like he won the ring in college. All right, one
- 18:24Speaker 1: round in the books, the Bengals pick up a safety.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Next two rounds of the draft coming up tomorrow. Now,
- 18:31Speaker 1: in four out of the last five years, they've traded
- 18:33Speaker 1: back in the second round, and this if they do
- 18:35Speaker 1: it again, it'll almost certainly mean trading out of the
- 18:38Speaker 1: second round. Do you think that's likely? It's possible. But
- 18:42Speaker 1: to me, I thought trading back tonight would have been
- 18:46Speaker 1: like trading out of the second round as the thirty
- 18:48Speaker 1: first pick, you know, I mean, you're you're just about there.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Trading out of the second round tomorrow would be like
- 18:53Speaker 1: an early third round pick. I think a little bit
- 18:55Speaker 1: different dynamic. The players would be more picked over at
- 18:58Speaker 1: that particular point in time. But with that said, if
- 19:00Speaker 1: they're picked over and you only have one or two
- 19:03Speaker 1: left that you really, you know, think you your needs
- 19:06Speaker 1: are different than the Bengals and you're targeting needs, it
- 19:09Speaker 1: could happen. There's there's no question about it. But um,
- 19:13Speaker 1: you know, I think the Bengals feel like there's going
- 19:16Speaker 1: to be you know, good players. Um, it's still it
- 19:20Speaker 1: needs like edge, rush, corner, um, you know, in the second, third,
- 19:26Speaker 1: fourth round, No question about it. I think that the
- 19:30Speaker 1: draft um is deep. It Obviously, the players are smaller, slower,
- 19:36Speaker 1: whatever it's. You know, they're not quite the same you know,
- 19:41Speaker 1: traits as such, but you put tape on, they're still
- 19:43Speaker 1: damn good football players and they project to play in
- 19:47Speaker 1: the National Football League. Maybe more of a developmental situation,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but I think they're going to get good players to
- 19:54Speaker 1: uh to be able to work with and develop in
- 19:56Speaker 1: that area for sure. The Bengals have Joe Burrow, the
- 19:59Speaker 1: Browns now have Deshaun Watson. The Ravens obviously have Lamar Jackson.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Did the Steelers enter that stratosphere and quarterback play by
- 20:08Speaker 1: drafting Kenny pick It out of pit number twenty? Overall?
- 20:12Speaker 1: You know, I mean, I think they've got they've got
- 20:15Speaker 1: a big wild card at the quarterback position. You have
- 20:18Speaker 1: a guy that came out of the out of the
- 20:20Speaker 1: college draft as the second pick in the draft, Mitchell Trubisky. Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 1: and trade it up to do it. I mean, he
- 20:26Speaker 1: was highly regarded and he's got some physical attributes. Now,
- 20:31Speaker 1: it didn't work for whatever. You can probably point to
- 20:34Speaker 1: a myriad of reasons that it didn't work. But you know,
- 20:38Speaker 1: Mitchell Trubisky's not going to use it as excuses. I mean,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I'm sure in his mind, you know, he's not satisfied
- 20:43Speaker 1: with the way things worked out. I'm sure he If
- 20:48Speaker 1: you're going to be realistic about it and honest about it,
- 20:51Speaker 1: you know, he's a factor as much as organizational deficiencies
- 20:55Speaker 1: were a factor in his lack of development. So I
- 20:58Speaker 1: think the kid does have glo abilities though. I mean,
- 21:01Speaker 1: he does have some athleticisms. He's another one. He's not
- 21:05Speaker 1: as stiff in the pocket. This kid can run, he
- 21:07Speaker 1: can move around, and he's got some arm He's got
- 21:10Speaker 1: some arm strength. He's got some arm talent. So yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I wonder if you know, they look at Picket to
- 21:17Speaker 1: be I think Pickets the quarterback that was the most
- 21:20Speaker 1: NFL ready, And I think he does have accuracy ball placement.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I thought. I think he's he's pretty darn good short
- 21:29Speaker 1: intermediate passing game in particular. I mean, he puts the
- 21:33Speaker 1: ball in really good spots. He doesn't have a howitzer
- 21:36Speaker 1: hanging off his right shoulder, but he's got plenty of
- 21:38Speaker 1: arm talent. You wouldn't say that he has, you know,
- 21:41Speaker 1: upper echelon NFL arm strength though, but throwing it straight
- 21:46Speaker 1: and throwing it accurately and putting where in the place
- 21:49Speaker 1: that you want to put it are very important traits
- 21:51Speaker 1: and he seems to have those. And he's another one
- 21:53Speaker 1: that's not as stiff in the pocket. He can move around.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I mean the AFC North they don't have the statue
- 21:59Speaker 1: of liberty is playing the quarterback position. They get they
- 22:02Speaker 1: get bigger people that can that can extend and create
- 22:05Speaker 1: and you know, make you miss on free runner sacks
- 22:08Speaker 1: on the whole nine yards. So it's going to be
- 22:11Speaker 1: a challenge for Louiana Roumo and his coaches and his
- 22:14Speaker 1: defensive players to compete and win this division. Again, there's
- 22:17Speaker 1: no doubt Round one is in the books. They fed us. Well,
- 22:21Speaker 1: it was a good TV show. Let's do it again tomorrow.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Let's do it again. Let's do it again second and
- 22:25Speaker 1: third round tomorrow. Man, the NFL Draft has become a spectacle.
- 22:32Speaker 1: When I think to what it used to be and
