  Speaker 5: whole theory on podcasting is there's two things that matter.

  Speaker 5: Number One, when we got into this business, we were

  Speaker 5: a small company. We're still a small company, but we're growing.

  Speaker 5: So my theory is we couldn't compete with NBCESBN or Fox.

  Speaker 5: So I said, we have to find guys who are
• 7:37
  Speaker 5: like rising stars in Triple A baseball. They're great, they're
• 7:42
  Speaker 5: going to get promoted to the bigs, but once they
• 7:44
  Speaker 5: get to the bigs, which we are now in podcasting,
• 7:47
  Speaker 5: but at the time we were a double AD or
• 7:49
  Speaker 5: a Triple A, I said, we've got to find guys.

  Speaker 5: We can't get into bidding wars with huge companies, So

  Speaker 5: we've got to do better homework. We're baseball scouts, and

  Speaker 5: so we heard you guys, and we're like, oh, they're
• 7:58
  Speaker 5: going to be in the bigs really fast. So we

  Speaker 5: got to move on it. And so I listened to it,

  Speaker 5: and my whole theory on what makes good broadcasters grinds.

  Speaker 5: You got to grind, so you know that we like

  Speaker 5: people that like busting with the boys. First time I

  Speaker 5: heard him, I'm like, those guys put in work. So

  Speaker 5: I listen to you guys, I'm like, Oh, these guys

  Speaker 5: put the work in. The second thing is, which is

  Speaker 5: I think is lost a lot of times, is you

  Speaker 5: guys are really what you are as storytellers. That's what

  Speaker 5: it's all about. My favorite baseball announcer all the time

  Speaker 5: is Vince Scully. He was a storyteller and it just

  Speaker 5: so happened baseball was in front of him, but he

  Speaker 5: was really a great American storyteller. Paul Harvey was a

  Speaker 5: legendary radio broadcast where he used to move the ads
• 8:39
  Speaker 5: into the broadcast. You couldn't tell what the broadcast wasn't

  Speaker 5: what the ads were. He was a storyteller. So the

  Speaker 5: first time I heard you guys. Logan Swain said, you

  Speaker 5: got to listen to these guys. I'm like, oh shit,

  Speaker 5: these are our best storytellers at the company. I said,

  Speaker 5: but it was you guys are great storytellers, and that's

  Speaker 5: really your good listeners. Great storyteller. You guys think your

  Speaker 5: Julie Talbot ran iHeartRadio and she said, I said, she called,

  Speaker 5: and I said, God, we don't have an audience, do we?

  Speaker 5: And she said no. She goes, your audience has never left.

  Speaker 5: I said, there's nobody driving. She said, your audience is
• 11:18
  Speaker 5: the only audience. There was one other political person. They're

  Speaker 5: going home and listening to you. And I said, what's

  Speaker 5: happened to our revenue? And she goes, the show sold out?

  Speaker 5: And I said with COVID she goes, yeah, yeah, So

  Speaker 5: I went. I thought about it for about three days,

  Speaker 5: and so I called her back and I said, listen,
• 11:33
  Speaker 5: if you let me form a company, I'm not going
• 11:34
  Speaker 5: to give you any ownership, but I'll do a rev split.

  Speaker 5: If I can create two thousand hours a month, you

  Speaker 5: can get fifty percent of my revenue. At the time,

  Speaker 5: I said, because otherwise when COVID ends, I don't have

  Speaker 5: any spots to sell and that's going to go to ESPN.

  Speaker 5: So I said, if I'm sold out now, but the

  Speaker 5: hell happens when this pandemic ends. So I said, let

  Speaker 5: me start a company, and they, you know, they wanted

  Speaker 5: to own it. I said, no, I'm gonna own it,

  Speaker 5: but I'll give you a REVS split all do all

  Speaker 5: the creating. And then we had to get really busy

  Speaker 5: and find people. And we made some mistakes. I mean

  Speaker 5: the first couple of years, you know, you're just trying

  Speaker 5: to find people, you know, Yeah, but we we hired,

  Speaker 5: we got very likely the one thing this happens in

  Speaker 5: life whenever something often awful happens, the duality of it,

  Speaker 5: like you're like, oh, the good stuff happens. So the

  Speaker 5: one thing about COVID that was great is that really

  Speaker 5: good people got let go at companies, people that would

  Speaker 5: never be available in management, talent, acquisition, salespeople company, but

  Speaker 5: companies who have to answer the boards. We didn't small company.

  Speaker 5: We didn't have to answer the boards. We didn't have
• 12:46
  Speaker 5: to answer to the stock market. And I looked at Jamie,

  Speaker 5: I'm like, I can't believe these people are available. So

  Speaker 5: we started building a team. I said, I told Jamie,

  Speaker 5: I said, let's not take a salary, Jamie, and I said,

  Speaker 5: let's just go three years in Ronday salary. Let's just

  Speaker 5: go buy the best people on the market. And so

  Speaker 5: that's what we did. We went and found all these

  Speaker 5: people that would have never been available. So one of

  Speaker 5: the things I learned during COVID is on the grayest day,

  Speaker 5: in the darkest times, there will be a silver lining.

  Speaker 5: And there were all sorts of people available that would

  Speaker 5: never be It was almost like if the NBA said tomorrow, hey,

  Speaker 5: we're gonna get rid of four teams, where you're like,

  Speaker 5: You're like, I got sixty players available. I'm a new league.

  Speaker 5: So it was like, all of a sudden, there was

  Speaker 5: all these people on the beach because you know, NBC

  Speaker 5: is like a budget because everybody's earnings went down during

  Speaker 5: is our only opportunity to make this company work.

  Speaker 5: up the theorist. I'm like, that's a terrible brand. And

  Speaker 5: Jamie went to so Jamie was in management. He goes,

  Speaker 5: to me really intently for about two or three weeks,

  Speaker 5: and he went to management and he goes, yeah, he goes,
