- 0:19Speaker 1: Return to Glory podcast August seventh, three weeks exactly to
- 0:24Speaker 1: opening kickoff. It feels like we're getting very very close
- 0:28Speaker 1: because we are getting very very close to opening weekend
- 0:33Speaker 1: Week zero, I guess is the week before the Farmageddon
- 0:37Speaker 1: k State, Iowa State on August twenty third, So that'll
- 0:42Speaker 1: be here before we know it. Hunters, Arberneka here to
- 0:45Speaker 1: code to free Tag and Austin Rose. We are doing
- 0:50Speaker 1: a whole NCAA FBS Division one preview today for you.
- 0:58Speaker 1: We're going to go through every conference. There's technically ten
- 1:02Speaker 1: of them. Some of them were going to go through
- 1:04Speaker 1: faster than others. We'll spend some more time on the
- 1:09Speaker 1: big hitters. We all have our own that we were
- 1:13Speaker 1: assigned to. Guys, how how did the research go? Uh?
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah, all right it waits are great, so we'll see
- 1:22Speaker 2: how it shakes out.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It went It went pretty easy thanks to a tool
- 1:27Speaker 3: that uh just got made a couple of years ago.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, AI. I think that's something that for
- 1:39Speaker 1: this made it a lot easier. It didn't involve a
- 1:43Speaker 1: lot of time researching and digging into different websites and stuff,
- 1:47Speaker 1: because there's probably not a whole lot out there but
- 1:49Speaker 1: AI can do it for it really quick. So thank Dak.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Could you use chat GBT, That's that's my go to.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I used Rock Rock, Austin, did you use AI?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Just good old fashioned articles out there?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Looks like it throws like six different websites together because
- 2:08Speaker 3: it's tough to find anything on these conversations. Just throws
- 2:11Speaker 3: a good preview together.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So yeah, Husker news before we get going, Uh, not
- 2:19Speaker 1: much out there. I think this week the talk has
- 2:21Speaker 1: been a lot about player personnel. You know, there's a
- 2:24Speaker 1: scrimmage on Saturday. We didn't talk talk about that on
- 2:27Speaker 1: Monday much, but people coming out of that, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 1: looking good as always. I think this week I've heard
- 2:35Speaker 1: just a lot of conversation on the running backs situation,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and Austin you mentioned as that might be a that
- 2:42Speaker 1: you that mentioned it might be in a concern on
- 2:45Speaker 1: Monday or someone maybe with someone else I was talking
- 2:48Speaker 1: to that that room. There's just I don't know there
- 2:53Speaker 1: there's a lot of question marks as far as the
- 2:55Speaker 1: depth and that Johnson obviously appears to be the clear
- 3:00Speaker 1: at one and also looks good, but I think after
- 3:04Speaker 1: that it's kind of an open game between several different
- 3:06Speaker 1: running backs, which we'll talk more about later. But that's
- 3:09Speaker 1: kind of a big takeaway that I've heard from this
- 3:11Speaker 1: week in the scrimmage.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yep, that's kind of a record too.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Okay, conference previews here we go. So first couple again,
- 3:25Speaker 1: the lower conferences. We're gonna get through them, so bear
- 3:28Speaker 1: with them. Keeping them short you make them sound pain
- 3:33Speaker 1: that they are pain. They are very excited to talk
- 3:35Speaker 1: about baby, So yeah, we'll get them short here, but
- 3:42Speaker 1: maybe give you a couple of advice if you're gonna
- 3:45Speaker 1: go make any bets. But Conference USA is what I'm
- 3:48Speaker 1: starting with here. There are twelve teams in Conference USA.
- 3:54Speaker 1: My favorite the Delaware Blue Hens, new to the Division
- 3:58Speaker 1: one ranks, but anyway, it's a favorite, heavy favorite. Liberty,
- 4:02Speaker 1: the Liberty Flames. They were thirteen to one last year,
- 4:07Speaker 1: easily the champions last year. Caden Salters their quarterback. He's
- 4:12Speaker 1: now moved on to Oregon head coach Jamie Chadwells in
- 4:15Speaker 1: his second year at the Flames. They have a good
- 4:19Speaker 1: running back coming back. They're the heavy favorites. They're almost
- 4:23Speaker 1: even odds to win the conference. I do like their
- 4:26Speaker 1: win total over as well. They're guys that are playing
- 4:30Speaker 1: in the conference doesn't have many great teams, and they
- 4:32Speaker 1: are an attraction to come play at from transfers and
- 4:36Speaker 1: so that they're going to have more talent than everybody
- 4:39Speaker 1: else in this conference. So I mean, any future any
- 4:45Speaker 1: over win total you can find that that'd be a
- 4:47Speaker 1: good one. I would think who's contending them? Western Kentucky
- 4:51Speaker 1: they have a pretty explosive offense coming back, Louisiana Tech,
- 4:56Speaker 1: Jacksonville State, Sam Houston State. A lot of different things.
- 5:00Speaker 1: There a couple of new head coaches in the conference,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but nothing really worth mentioning. The biggest takeaway from Conference
- 5:07Speaker 1: USA liberty the heavy favorites. Any comments on Conference USA, I.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Thought I thought King Salter went to, uh, Colorado.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Maybe did a good Colorado. I think you might have.
- 5:27Speaker 1: You're right, it was not organ It's still early. Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 1: he's at Colorado. He's definitely not at.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Colorado because yeah, I saw a picture the other day
- 5:42Speaker 3: he has that weird face or like, I don't know
- 5:45Speaker 3: his face, Maco's halfway up his forehead.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yes, that the floor is yours American Conference, all right.
- 6:00Speaker 3: So the big thing is that rate is they've had
- 6:05Speaker 3: divisions every year. They've had some conference this year there's
- 6:08Speaker 3: no divisions, so they'll just top two teams go the
- 6:11Speaker 3: title game. Memphis. Memphis is the heavy favorite here. It's
- 6:18Speaker 3: because their quarterback he's he's led the conference in passing
- 6:21Speaker 3: the last three years, and that is Seth Hannigan. The
- 6:27Speaker 3: next next favorite team, I guess is UTSA. Their quarterback
- 6:32Speaker 3: is Owen McCowan, who's the son of that, who's his dad?
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yep boom. He had twenty four seven picks last year.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I guess you can say that's good. I don't know
- 6:45Speaker 3: about that, all right, next one, then the next favorite
- 6:48Speaker 3: is South Florida, and after that you get pretty downhill.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Another key player is bryceon Daily. Apparently he's supposed to
- 6:56Speaker 3: be a good triple option quarterback for Army this year.
- 7:00Speaker 3: The key games are is Memphis at South Florida September twentieth. Now,
- 7:07Speaker 3: the most unless Rock was wrong, the most interesting thing
- 7:12Speaker 3: I found out was Army Navy is not the last
- 7:14Speaker 3: game of the year this year. That's in October twenty fifth.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Oh that's disappointing.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that's Roc was wrong. That's what I said, which
- 7:27Speaker 3: which all Austin's doing. I'm gonna go fact check that,
- 7:30Speaker 3: and then the next big game is UTSA at East
- 7:33Speaker 3: Caroline October fourth.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Okay, only common, I have to add that I'm kind
- 7:40Speaker 1: of excited for. But I also like their win total
- 7:42Speaker 1: over the Rice Owls new coach. They are completely converting
- 7:48Speaker 1: to the triple option. Really, the win totals three and
- 7:52Speaker 1: a half, one of the lower lowest in the conference.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'm obviously Army and Navy are in here as well,
- 7:58Speaker 1: so when they play them, they're probably just gonna get
- 8:00Speaker 1: destroyed because those two teams are masters of it. But
- 8:04Speaker 1: I do think just going against the triple option and
- 8:07Speaker 1: a new version of it's hard to do, so that
- 8:09Speaker 1: that's my favorite. But I thought that was an interesting thing.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And you know what, if you're Rice, like why.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Not Formian Navy is December thirteenth, So okay, Rock was wrong. Yep,
- 8:23Speaker 2: Air Force is November first.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I was kind of bummed in I thought when it
- 8:28Speaker 3: said October twenty fifth, because no one's gonna watch that
- 8:31Speaker 3: game if it's middle of.
- 8:32Speaker 2: The season because of bio week the twenty fifth, so
- 8:36Speaker 2: maybe got rescheduled.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I don't know, but yeah, so there's three teams in
- 8:45Speaker 3: the conference from the triple option. Now, oh yeah, there
- 8:49Speaker 3: you go. Fun to watch. Everybody watched American this year, Austin,
- 8:56Speaker 3: Mountain West.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Mountain West. There's one in the Mountain West Conference rank
- 9:01Speaker 2: preseason top twenty five. That is the Boise State Broncos.
- 9:07Speaker 2: They're pretty much the clear favorites for the conference. They
- 9:10Speaker 2: lost Ashton Gentiebos and that I think they still returning
- 9:14Speaker 2: quite a few starters. They got some pretty good running
- 9:20Speaker 2: backs Sire Games Leak Sharod are supposed to be some
- 9:22Speaker 2: pretty good running backs back there, so they're not super
- 9:24Speaker 2: worried about Ashton Gent's drop off for turning six stars
- 9:28Speaker 2: on the defense, they don't expect a big drop off there.
- 9:30Speaker 2: So that's kind of way their heavy favorites to run
- 9:33Speaker 2: it back into the championship, Big Mountain West champions This
- 9:38Speaker 2: is the Mountain West last raw as you know it. There,
- 9:41Speaker 2: five of their teams are going to the Pack twelve.
- 9:44Speaker 2: So once those five teams leave, there will be one
- 9:46Speaker 2: team remaining in the Mountain West Conference that has won
- 9:50Speaker 2: a championship in the Mountain West Conference. So that's it.
- 9:55Speaker 2: This is it for them. UNLV is kind of the
- 9:57Speaker 2: only other contender out of there. Last year, they made
- 10:00Speaker 2: a lot of noise just because I think their head
- 10:03Speaker 2: coach left. They had the quarterback controversy where the guy
- 10:06Speaker 2: was promised money. I can't remember what his name was.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I don't know where he ended up, but that's yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 2: they got a new quarterback. There's quarterback battle. I guess Alex,
- 10:19Speaker 2: here's it's spelled O r J. I. I had to
- 10:22Speaker 2: say this one on.
- 10:23Speaker 1: That's the that's the Michigan guy.
- 10:25Speaker 2: It is the mission guy. It's yeah, so get for
- 10:29Speaker 2: the ball. Dan Mullen is their head coach. Now take
- 10:33Speaker 2: that as you will, you know, third times the charm.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Hopefully it works out for him. Yeah, L I don't
- 10:43Speaker 2: want him. I yeah, I'd probably agree with you if
- 10:46Speaker 2: you have a quarterback battle and Dan Mullen as your cute,
- 10:48Speaker 2: as your as your coach. Aside that, San Jose State,
- 10:54Speaker 2: Fresno State, Colorado State Air Force, Hawaii, San Diego State
- 10:59Speaker 2: coach Sean Lewis, former OC of the Colorado Buffalo's, Utah
- 11:04Speaker 2: State's got Bronco Benden Hall running the show, Wyoming, Nevada,
- 11:09Speaker 2: New Mexico, all probably gonna be floating around five hundred,
- 11:15Speaker 2: maybe a little bit above open re Bowl eligibility or below.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Give me air Force over five and a half in
- 11:22Speaker 1: that conference. I just I'm a sucker for the triple options,
- 11:26Speaker 1: so I always liked that.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Sure they were five and seven.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So yeah, but they came on strong.
- 11:34Speaker 3: At the end of the year. YEPU. Was that the
- 11:37Speaker 3: team I bet?
- 11:38Speaker 1: I do like San State as well.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Was the air Force the team I bet every single
- 11:42Speaker 3: week last year and they hit like I think I
- 11:45Speaker 3: lost twice for their spread.
- 11:47Speaker 1: It would have been maybe at the end the first
- 11:49Speaker 1: first half of the year they struggled.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Maybe it wasn't Air Force, and then I thought it was.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Air Forces had Their defense is really good. Their defense
- 11:57Speaker 2: scores points. Yeah, top three's scoring the last couple of years.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:02Speaker 1: San Jose State's head coaches former Navy coach Ken neam
- 12:06Speaker 1: Motalolo as well. I like them a lot. Obviously, Boise
- 12:10Speaker 1: State's a very heavy favorite, I mean better than fifty
- 12:14Speaker 1: fifty odds, but.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I like say there to see him in the title game.
- 12:18Speaker 2: They also have I think three new head coaches because
- 12:21Speaker 2: Swyowen has a new head coach San Jose State UNLV,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and then there are a couple of second year coaches
- 12:32Speaker 2: with Sean Lewis Hawaii and UTAs oh No Utah States
- 12:38Speaker 2: New It's as well this year.
- 12:40Speaker 1: San Jose States with Nea Montelo have been there for
- 12:43Speaker 1: a couple of years now. I think maybe last year's first,
- 12:45Speaker 1: but okay, sun Belt Fun Belt. There are two divisions
- 12:54Speaker 1: here still one of the few conferences that have divisions
- 12:58Speaker 1: the East, and the favorite out of the East this year,
- 13:05Speaker 1: as has been the past couple of years, is James Madison.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Bob Chesney's in the second year there. They went ten
- 13:12Speaker 1: and three last year. They are also the favorite to
- 13:17Speaker 1: win the conference a couple of years removed from Kurt Signetti,
- 13:22Speaker 1: but they've kept things rolling down there with the James
- 13:25Speaker 1: Madison Dukes, a couple other teams there. App States. Also
- 13:32Speaker 1: in the West, they've they've kind of fallen off a
- 13:33Speaker 1: little bit in the past few years. They've always kind
- 13:38Speaker 1: of been a powerhouse in the Sun Belt. In the West,
- 13:45Speaker 1: I guess the favorite is Louisiana the Region Cajuns out
- 13:53Speaker 1: of New Orleans. Troy was the conference winner. They're also
- 14:00Speaker 1: in the West. They beat Appalachian State in the conference
- 14:03Speaker 1: title game. Big storyline here for me is to watch
- 14:11Speaker 1: for Southern miss potentially making a little dark horse run.
- 14:15Speaker 1: They took everything from Marshall, including their head coach and
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think about twenty plus players. Marshall had a very
- 14:24Speaker 1: good year last year. I didn't write down their head
- 14:28Speaker 1: coach's name, but they could not agree upon a new contract.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Has expired last year, and so he said, all right,
- 14:34Speaker 1: I'm going to Southern miss and bringing everybody with me.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Southern Misses win totals down at four and a half.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I think that's a very good overplay if you are
- 14:43Speaker 1: looking putting any money down. Coastal Carolina I think's falling
- 14:49Speaker 1: off too. They've had their years of fun. I think
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think they're falling off here as well. So yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 1: some belt we don't play Georgia Southern and Clay Heilton's
- 14:59Speaker 1: not gonna be just this year. So that's the other
- 15:02Speaker 1: fun thing to point out, what.
- 15:08Speaker 2: A satisfying way then that we're not gonna list this
- 15:10Speaker 2: sun Belt this year.
- 15:13Speaker 1: We couldn't lose to somebody in the back.
- 15:17Speaker 2: That's true.
- 15:18Speaker 3: That you're up, all right. The main point is, and
- 15:24Speaker 3: I'll just end it at this maction starts from every fourth.
- 15:27Speaker 3: That's it. No, I'm kidding. All right, we got there's
- 15:31Speaker 3: two happy favorites here and this conference is Toledo in
- 15:34Speaker 3: Miami Ohio, and then you got Buffalo and Ohio is
- 15:39Speaker 3: the next two favorites. But the but it sounds like
- 15:42Speaker 3: to lead them up. Miami Ohio are like, I'm gonna
- 15:45Speaker 3: run this conference. They have six new coaches in the conference.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Ball State, Bowling, Green, Can't State, UMass, Central Michigan all
- 15:52Speaker 3: have coaches new coaches. Now, the the guy that got
- 15:56Speaker 3: fired at Kenna State deserves a trophy, hall of fame whatever.
- 16:00Speaker 3: He went one in twenty three, Kenny Burns. That's that's
- 16:05Speaker 3: the most impressive stat ever. I don't know high lasted
- 16:07Speaker 3: that long. But all right, we got the key games
- 16:11Speaker 3: here Miami Miami Howe at Ohio November fourth, Toledo at
- 16:16Speaker 3: Buffalo November twelfth, and that's that's all the key games
- 16:23Speaker 3: that they really had on there. Our key players are
- 16:27Speaker 3: Daikwan Finn transfer from Baylor. He's their Miami Ohio quarterback.
- 16:35Speaker 3: AJ Henderson is Buffalo's running back. He's supposed to be like,
- 16:40Speaker 3: by far, the best player in the conference. He had
- 16:42Speaker 3: one thousand seventy yards last year. And the last one
- 16:45Speaker 3: this guy still have nightmares by all the time is
- 16:50Speaker 3: Drew Pine from Missouri he's Bowling Green's quarterback. I really
- 16:56Speaker 3: hope he just has the worst year possible.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So why is Maction? Does Maction always start this late?
- 17:07Speaker 3: See last year it started later. I thought I was
- 17:10Speaker 3: found like middle of October, but I think last year
- 17:12Speaker 3: started around that time too.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Just looking at the week by week schedule, it looks
- 17:18Speaker 1: like like Tuesday and Wednesday. We're getting a lot of
- 17:22Speaker 1: these conferences. We've been talking about Sun Belt Conference USA
- 17:26Speaker 1: type of games leading up to that. So yeah, Action
- 17:30Speaker 1: doesn't start from November fourth. It's kind of sad, but
- 17:34Speaker 1: we get the the fun Belt earlier than that in midweek. Okay,
- 17:44Speaker 1: back to back to and the Independent.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Don't forget the Independence. We'll start with the Pack two.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Pretty bleak Oregon State there, it's they're hoping to be
- 17:57Speaker 2: a little bit better. And last year the five and
- 17:58Speaker 2: seven looking to recover after basically everyone left with coach
- 18:04Speaker 2: Smith Jonathan Smith, that's first name, correct, back in twenty
- 18:10Speaker 2: twy four and he left for Michigan State and they
- 18:12Speaker 2: lost almost all of their players. So then they kind
- 18:15Speaker 2: of restart last year, so Trent Bray is the head coach.
- 18:22Speaker 2: They got a couple of transfers, their running back returns
- 18:26Speaker 2: their best ride receiver returns, but they got Malik Murphy
- 18:31Speaker 2: will be their starting quarterback and we read shirt junior
- 18:35Speaker 2: hoping to start for them, but he's from Texas if
- 18:38Speaker 2: we should include that. But it's probably still gonna be
- 18:43Speaker 2: pretty rough for the Old Beavers this year. Now. Washington State,
- 18:48Speaker 2: on the other hand, they're going through the same thing
- 18:50Speaker 2: Oregon State went through last year. Their head coach Dickert
- 18:54Speaker 2: left for Wake Forest and along with him, basically the
- 18:58Speaker 2: entire roster hit the portal, including their quarterback John Matter,
- 19:02Speaker 2: who is now at Oklahoma Dak. I don't know if
- 19:07Speaker 2: he's starting at Oklahoma, assume so he was pretty good
- 19:11Speaker 2: last year. They were eight and five last year. Probably
- 19:15Speaker 2: not gonna do so well this year. Now. The independence
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yukon Huskies at nine and four last year. They will
- 19:23Speaker 2: not be going nine and four this year as my
- 19:27Speaker 2: I don't know if runners on the Yukon Huskies. Oh,
- 19:29Speaker 2: you like the Yukon Huskies.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Their schedules easy and at seven and a half.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Mm hmm, you're taking the over on that, huh. All right?
- 19:47Speaker 2: Jim Mora. Most of the offensive attorney, including starting quarterback.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Only two starters were turning on the defensive side though
- 19:55Speaker 2: this year, so there's gonna be some big question marks
- 19:58Speaker 2: on the defense. They got a lot of people from
- 20:02Speaker 2: the portal, but you know, like we say, it can
- 20:09Speaker 2: sound good coming in from the portal, but we'll believe
- 20:12Speaker 2: it when we see it. And then the last independent team,
- 20:17Speaker 2: Notre Dame, very good chance they go twelve and oh
- 20:21Speaker 2: this year. They made it to the championship last year
- 20:23Speaker 2: ten and three, and they did lose their quarterback and
- 20:32Speaker 2: Xavier Watts is no longer on the defensive side, but
- 20:34Speaker 2: they are returning their top two running backs. Their offensive
- 20:37Speaker 2: line looks good. Their schedule, I don't what is the
- 20:42Speaker 2: over under for Notre Dame. Do you have that in
- 20:43Speaker 2: front of you.
- 20:44Speaker 1: It's ten and a half.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I would if they win. So their schedule, they played
- 20:50Speaker 2: Miami and Texas A and M at the start of
- 20:52Speaker 2: the year. I followed up with Purdue, Arkansas, Boise State,
- 20:56Speaker 2: UNC State, USC, Boston College, Navy, pitt ECU, Stanford.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean those first two games, I think you
- 21:07Speaker 1: get by those. I think you're feeling.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Pretty good, pretty good about the ten and a half.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So that's looking like Dame's gonna have another good year.
- 21:16Speaker 2: This year, though, I would be surprised that they did
- 21:18Speaker 2: not make the playoffs.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I think they're odd to make the playoffs. Are minus
- 21:22Speaker 1: one fifty.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Yes, So who's your name running out of quarterback? Is
- 21:27Speaker 3: it transfering or.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Is it it is? I just closed it. CJ. Carr?
- 21:34Speaker 2: C J Car.
- 21:35Speaker 3: He's a freshman, because it feels like they pick up
- 21:40Speaker 3: like a fifth year guy every single year.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Nope, it's a highly touted freshman. Anthony Reasact. They Omaha
- 21:46Speaker 2: native did not get the starting job. Still backup.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So you made one comment in there about returning starters.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I believe on Yukon. But it was funny as you
- 22:01Speaker 1: start to hear and talk about different teams every year,
- 22:04Speaker 1: I find that more. I find to like rely upon
- 22:07Speaker 1: that less and less because of the portal. And you
- 22:10Speaker 1: made the com about the portal. Hell, we got to
- 22:13Speaker 1: see it. Well, every year, I find myself, I guess,
- 22:15Speaker 1: trusting it more just because everybody's doing it, and I
- 22:18Speaker 1: think Nebraska basketball like I would say trusting it more,
- 22:22Speaker 1: but just like not considering the returning starters because everybody's
- 22:28Speaker 1: bringing in new players anyways. And yeah, so we'll have
- 22:31Speaker 1: to see what it is. But not really paying attention to. Oh,
- 22:34Speaker 1: this team's only returning two on the offense and two
- 22:37Speaker 1: on the defense. I'm like, well, yeah, that's kind of
- 22:39Speaker 1: the error we live in, and who knows what the
- 22:42Speaker 1: new errors new players are going to bring. So it's
- 22:45Speaker 1: just funny every I used to factor that in a lot,
- 22:47Speaker 1: especially on the offensive line when I'm thinking about teams that.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Are going to be good.
- 22:51Speaker 1: When you hear this team only returns one or zero
- 22:54Speaker 1: starters on their offensive line, I go oof. Now it's like, well,
- 22:58Speaker 1: they could have brought in five transfers.
- 23:00Speaker 2: We don't know, right, I just don't know the quality. Yes,
- 23:04Speaker 2: you come probably gets okay transfers, but it still yukon.
- 23:07Speaker 2: You know.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Oregon State and Washington State are playing twice this year.
- 23:15Speaker 2: They are playing twice a year. I forgot to mention that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah, a home and home in the same year.
- 23:19Speaker 2: That's awesome. I love it. I don't know what your
- 23:22Speaker 2: guys' opinion is, but a home and home in football
- 23:24Speaker 2: is incredible.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Okay, the Big Four, and I'm kicking it off with
- 23:38Speaker 1: the Big Twelve here if I can find my notes
- 23:43Speaker 1: the Big Twelve. Here's the fun fact on this conference
- 23:48Speaker 1: there are sixteen or seventeen teams in the Big twelve.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I did that all right, four eight, twelve, sixteen. Every
- 23:59Speaker 1: single team's win total is between five and a half
- 24:01Speaker 1: and eight and a half. There's no bottom dwellers, there's
- 24:06Speaker 1: no heavy, heavy favorites, and that I think was kind
- 24:09Speaker 1: of shown last year when you look at the conference
- 24:12Speaker 1: and what happened to Arizona State, who was the bottom
- 24:16Speaker 1: dweller with a very low win total, was expected to
- 24:19Speaker 1: finish the last comes out on top. They are now
- 24:28Speaker 1: one of the favorites this year with the same Levett
- 24:30Speaker 1: returning at quarterback. They obviously lose Cam Scattabo to the NFL,
- 24:36Speaker 1: but they still have a lot of momentum right now.
- 24:40Speaker 1: They're at the top along with Case State who's been
- 24:43Speaker 1: there the past few years, Avery Johnson, Dylan Edwards still
- 24:46Speaker 1: back there. One two punch in the backfield, Chris Climbing,
- 24:50Speaker 1: I know I've talked about it before, kind of have
- 24:52Speaker 1: a soft spot for KSE State. Now I think I'm
- 24:56Speaker 1: going down to the k State UCF game in September
- 25:00Speaker 1: twenty seventh, so that should be fun. Speaking of UCF,
- 25:04Speaker 1: we all know the news around Scott brost Down there.
- 25:07Speaker 1: They're win tolls at five and a half. They brought
- 25:11Speaker 1: in a bunch of Juco guys this year, which personally
- 25:15Speaker 1: I don't think bodes great just because of the type
- 25:20Speaker 1: of players those are, but it could who knows. For
- 25:22Speaker 1: Scott Brost Texas Tech fun storyline with the guy that's
- 25:30Speaker 1: donating his entire bank account from a former Mike Leach
- 25:34Speaker 1: player to get the players in. You know, we saw
- 25:37Speaker 1: it in softball, almost panned out and bottom of the
- 25:40Speaker 1: national title. They lost to in state rival Texas in
- 25:43Speaker 1: the National Championship game. For football, it's the same story.
- 25:47Speaker 1: They got a bunch of guys coming in. Head coach
- 25:49Speaker 1: Joey maguire is building something down there for the Red
- 25:55Speaker 1: Raiders and the Tortillas getting thrown on the field. It's
- 26:02Speaker 1: hard to not mention about every team here. Iowa State
- 26:05Speaker 1: Matt Campbell have always been a pretty big fan of him.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Rockebecks still at quarterbacks, strong defense. They're up there still
- 26:12Speaker 1: towards the top, and I think in contend to win it.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Jake Retz laugh at BYU Utah has been one that's
- 26:20Speaker 1: been up there in the Pac twelve. They still have
- 26:21Speaker 1: a seven and a half win total. They got a
- 26:24Speaker 1: new QB. The guy that was there last year, can't
- 26:27Speaker 1: think of his name, Cam Rising, felt like he was
- 26:30Speaker 1: there forever. They're still around TCU. Maybe a dark horse
- 26:38Speaker 1: Josh Hoover quarterback, been there for a couple of years.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Baylor's one that I think could sneak up on some people.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Their win totals at seven and a half. I wouldn't
- 26:48Speaker 1: have thought that before doing this this preview here, but
- 26:52Speaker 1: Sawyer Robertson's their quarterback and expected to do some pretty
- 26:54Speaker 1: big things in Waco. The bottom dwellers are I don't know, Arizona, Houston,
- 27:02Speaker 1: West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Gundhy. That feels like that's kind
- 27:08Speaker 1: of falling off big time, but maybe they have a
- 27:10Speaker 1: bounce back year. It's hard. Kansas is the other one.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I haven't mentioned their new stadium getting broken out. I
- 27:16Speaker 1: believe next year. I don't think it's this year. Maybe
- 27:20Speaker 1: it is this year.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I think it's this year.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Maybe it is this year. That looks like a lot
- 27:25Speaker 1: of fun. I think it is this year actually, now
- 27:28Speaker 1: that you say, because I think Case State plays there,
- 27:32Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean a lot going on in the
- 27:34Speaker 1: big twelve guys. If you had to pick a team
- 27:38Speaker 1: to win the conference or be in the conference title game,
- 27:40Speaker 1: you might as well throw dart and see where it lands.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I think it's hard, which means there is a lot
- 27:46Speaker 1: of value. So if you do have a team or
- 27:49Speaker 1: that you like and think that will do well, you
- 27:52Speaker 1: know you're gonna get good odds on it to win
- 27:54Speaker 1: the conference. But a lot of parody. Colorado Cincinnati didn't
- 28:00Speaker 1: mention neither one of those either. But Dion's still around.
- 28:02Speaker 1: He's still hanging hanging in the in the Big twelve.
- 28:08Speaker 1: And Cincinnati obviously we open up with. They're both at
- 28:10Speaker 1: six and a half wins. I think I said every
- 28:14Speaker 1: team who if you guys, here's one. Since it's so
- 28:17Speaker 1: much parody, give me, give me your give me your
- 28:21Speaker 1: conference title teams.
- 28:23Speaker 2: In the champion that you go first?
- 28:30Speaker 3: I think I think you have to go to Kse
- 28:32Speaker 3: State as your favorite.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Who they beating.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Well? I think the big Teal title game might be
- 28:41Speaker 3: the two playing in the Ireland Game. I think would
- 28:45Speaker 3: be case state of Iowa State. Yeah, now here's is
- 28:52Speaker 3: Kansas quarterback coming back? I cannot remember his name, Jayden Daniels. Yes,
- 28:57Speaker 3: is he back? Kansas? Uh?
- 29:00Speaker 1: I think so I'm not sure.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I could be. I believe and my Texas Tech's getting
- 29:08Speaker 3: a lot of love just because they bought all that
- 29:11Speaker 3: they bought.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Their team doesn't always worked for people buying teams, but
- 29:16Speaker 2: they no better coach than some teams that get their
- 29:20Speaker 2: ranks preseason twenty fourth, I'll go yeah, I'll go case State,
- 29:26Speaker 2: Iowa State.
- 29:28Speaker 3: With who winning Case State?
- 29:32Speaker 2: I think I also like KSE State, but I like
- 29:34Speaker 2: them over the sun Devils Prison State.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I'm I'm riding the portal here. I'm taking I think.
- 29:40Speaker 2: This will be the first Tech I think.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I think it will be the first year that everybody's
- 29:44Speaker 1: gonna go crap, this worked and now it's gonna all
- 29:48Speaker 1: get capped. But I'm taking Texas Tech over two. I'll
- 29:53Speaker 1: go Case State.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Do you remember Texas A and them trying the same thing? Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 2: I love that workout?
- 30:00Speaker 3: Not great, not great, great for Jimbo.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah you paying all that to not be doing anything?
- 30:11Speaker 1: All right, the big bad sec.
- 30:19Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:19Speaker 3: We'll start out the key players here and it's all quarterbacks.
- 30:26Speaker 2: So we have.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Norris Sellers at South Carolina's coming back. He's a dual
- 30:31Speaker 3: threat quarterback. He's very good last year I'd expect same
- 30:36Speaker 3: thing this year. They they should be very good this year.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Then we got DJ Lagway at Florida. He's kind of
- 30:44Speaker 3: another dual threat quarterback. He came on at the end
- 30:48Speaker 3: of the year. Should be shouldn't prove a lot. Then
- 30:51Speaker 3: we got we got the two new new QB's, the
- 30:54Speaker 3: big schools Tys Simpson and Gunner stocked in at Alabama
- 30:57Speaker 3: and Georgia. Then we got John A. Tier at Oklahoma.
- 31:01Speaker 3: He should be very good, like like put your money
- 31:05Speaker 3: on them with the Heisman. And then last but least
- 31:08Speaker 3: Arch Manning at Texas. So we got the top ten
- 31:13Speaker 3: title SEC TALALIC contenders here. This is what they ranked them.
- 31:18Speaker 3: One is Georgia two or one is Texas. Two's Georgia three,
- 31:23Speaker 3: Bama four, Ole, Miss five, South Carolina sixth, Tennessee seven,
- 31:28Speaker 3: LSU eight A and M nine Florida ten ou That
- 31:35Speaker 3: top five is supposed to be like a tass up
- 31:38Speaker 3: with Texas, Georgia, Bama, Ole, Miss, South Carolina. I if
- 31:47Speaker 3: march Manning is good what they say Texas is actually
- 31:49Speaker 3: me very good this year, but it all leans on him,
- 31:52Speaker 3: I guess. But I really like South Carolina in this conference.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I think. I think the North Sellers is going to
- 31:59Speaker 3: win the Heisman and going to be a top player.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Yeah in the nation. Key games here, it's a lot
- 32:06Speaker 3: of Georgia. They have a very tough schedule. We got
- 32:09Speaker 3: Georgia at Tennessee September thirteenth, Georgia at Bama September twenty eighth,
- 32:16Speaker 3: Ole Miss at LSU October twelfth, Georgia at Texas October nineteenth,
- 32:25Speaker 3: in Texas at A and M November thirtieth, and then
- 32:28Speaker 3: Grockton I put this in his key game. I don't
- 32:30Speaker 3: know how, but I did. Oh you in Texas October eleventh.
- 32:34Speaker 3: I must must think that Texas going to suck, So
- 32:36Speaker 3: that's why they didn't put that in. Actually going to
- 32:42Speaker 3: that game finally for first time, all right key storylines here, Texas, Georgia,
- 32:49Speaker 3: and Bama all have new qbs. So the top three
- 32:52Speaker 3: teams in the conference are rolling out new qbs. Then
- 32:57Speaker 3: we got old Miss South Carolina, supposed to be sleeper teams.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Rock did tell me that Jackson Dart was coming back. Well,
- 33:07Speaker 3: Austin was talking about about the independence. I looked at
- 33:11Speaker 3: upas like, there's no way he's coming back. He's not
- 33:14Speaker 3: so I don't know who ole miss quarterback is going
- 33:15Speaker 3: to be.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Yeah. My I will say this too. When I was
- 33:18Speaker 1: using chat GBT, especially for these other conferences, it was
- 33:21Speaker 1: like a year behind on a lot of the stuff,
- 33:24Speaker 1: and so I had to like yell at it and say, no,
- 33:27Speaker 1: you're doing twenty twenty four seven, not twenty twenty five,
- 33:30Speaker 1: and to be like, yep, you're right, and it would
- 33:32Speaker 1: arise it. I don't know why it did that, even
- 33:34Speaker 1: though I put twenty twenty five to start, but yeah,
- 33:36Speaker 1: I had the same issue.
- 33:37Speaker 3: So yeah, I was like, there's no way Jackson darts
- 33:39Speaker 3: back in. But he's actually New York Giants, so he
- 33:42Speaker 3: will not be their quarterback. Another key storyline is can
- 33:47Speaker 3: Ou rebound with their transfer QB. If not, Brentman and
- 33:51Speaker 3: Buls will be gone. He's probably on me. Yeah, he
- 33:56Speaker 3: is on the hottest seat in this conference. And then
- 34:00Speaker 3: another key storyline is will Steve Steve Sarkisan win anything.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Ever, No, I don't think he's a good coach. Really no,
- 34:16Speaker 1: I don't think I shouldn't say that he's a good coach.
- 34:19Speaker 1: I don't think he's an elite coach. I don't think
- 34:21Speaker 1: he's I don't. I would not have him my top
- 34:24Speaker 1: ten of coaches in college football?
- 34:25Speaker 3: Probably, Yeah, I see, I was gonna say, will he
- 34:30Speaker 3: win everyone in a playoff game? I made that last
- 34:32Speaker 3: one up that was that was not on AI.
- 34:35Speaker 1: But but then it's your opinion, and that's what you
- 34:39Speaker 1: should be sharing on a podcast.
- 34:41Speaker 3: I forgot that they did beat Arizona State barely, so
- 34:46Speaker 3: I guess I guess you can count as a playoff win.
- 34:48Speaker 3: But but yeah, he's he's he's terrible when it comes
- 34:53Speaker 3: like big tal title games or playoff games. Who do
- 34:57Speaker 3: you who do you guys think is gonna come out
- 34:59Speaker 3: as conference? I I already said South Carolina do we like?
- 35:02Speaker 1: Lsu Ellis is the one that, like I struggle with
- 35:05Speaker 1: Brian Kelly as well, speaking of of elite coaches, Like
- 35:10Speaker 1: there's times I think he's got it figured out, and
- 35:13Speaker 1: then there's times I'm like, what in the world is
- 35:16Speaker 1: going on with Brian Kelly. So they're one that I
- 35:18Speaker 1: think it's hard. I think they Garrett Nusmeyer, I think
- 35:22Speaker 1: is one of the favorites from the Heisman as well,
- 35:25Speaker 1: So I think that like that maybe could bode well
- 35:29Speaker 1: for them. I mean, the safe play is Georgia But
- 35:31Speaker 1: to me, but Dak, you mentioned their schedule is brutal
- 35:35Speaker 1: this year, so it's brutal. But I think they only
- 35:39Speaker 1: have like three true road games if I remember right,
- 35:44Speaker 1: because Georgia Tech moved their home game or to a
- 35:50Speaker 1: neutral site to make more money. I believe so.
- 35:54Speaker 3: But that's smart.
- 35:57Speaker 2: I don't live in Alabama like a year underhood coach.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I mean, it was gonna work it. This year is
- 36:05Speaker 1: gonna be the year they pop? I think.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I mean, I haven't heard too much about ty Sampson.
- 36:12Speaker 2: They got there. The the OC is from the guy
- 36:16Speaker 2: that the boy, the boyar the kiln, the board. There
- 36:21Speaker 2: we go. It's like something doesn't sound right Kalen and
- 36:23Speaker 2: board like the OC that he had for like twelve
- 36:26Speaker 2: years is finally back with him after a year away.
- 36:28Speaker 2: And that's what made him so good at Washington. So
- 36:31Speaker 2: I think I like Alabama.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Vandy. No love for Vandy.
- 36:39Speaker 2: No love for Vandy.
- 36:40Speaker 1: You know what their win totals at four and a half,
- 36:42Speaker 1: I think it's the highest it's been in a while.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Yeh A and m Elco.
- 36:49Speaker 3: I just until they do anything. Yeah, they always get
- 36:54Speaker 3: hype in what's their win total?
- 36:57Speaker 2: It could be. It could be any of them, because
- 36:59Speaker 2: if you drop one game and you're all of a sudden,
- 37:01Speaker 2: you're out of the SEC championship.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Game seven and a half is A and M's wind tool.
- 37:07Speaker 3: So they're not getting as much ype as they normally get. Yeah,
- 37:11Speaker 3: I'm not big on a prove it for them.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Auburn's kind of falling off, Yeah, Alburn to be bad,
- 37:19Speaker 1: Arkansas Pittman surviving for his life down there. Mississippi State's
- 37:26Speaker 1: actually lower than Dandy and the Windules, believe it or not.
- 37:30Speaker 3: What I forgot to put this in the key storylines?
- 37:35Speaker 3: How about Napier flipping last year from the beginning of
- 37:38Speaker 3: you're like the worst coaching nation to now getting all
- 37:41Speaker 3: this hype?
- 37:42Speaker 2: That's true.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think Florid is gonna be really
- 37:46Speaker 3: good this year.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Was big time hot seat last year. Uh and and
- 37:51Speaker 1: they had a pretty solid year. Yeah, I mean, I
- 37:55Speaker 1: think I think.
- 37:56Speaker 2: It's Texas's conference to lose at this point, but teams
- 38:00Speaker 2: to make the championship, I think Alabama probably my second choice.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. But at the same time, I think
- 38:06Speaker 1: Dak's right with the SEC and you know it used
- 38:10Speaker 1: to be you could pinpoint really conference to loose with
- 38:14Speaker 1: Georgia and Alabama with everybody else kind of just itching
- 38:18Speaker 1: at him. I'm with dak here where like it. It's
- 38:23Speaker 1: jumbled at the top. I think I mean between between Texas, Georgia, Alabama,
- 38:30Speaker 1: those three for sure, and then if you want to
- 38:32Speaker 1: throw in your your lsu ole Miss Tennessee, who were
- 38:36Speaker 1: all right there behind him at eight and a half.
- 38:38Speaker 1: When you got a lot of teams that could compete,
- 38:40Speaker 1: and you're bottom dwellers quote unquote, like they they can
- 38:45Speaker 1: all win in a given week, like you're not well,
- 38:47Speaker 1: you could see it, but very rarely are you going
- 38:49Speaker 1: to see one of these top teams going and beating
- 38:53Speaker 1: Bandy by fifty anymore like they used to five years ago.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Like they're going to be closer games and games that
- 39:03Speaker 1: at any given week some of these lower teams could win.
- 39:08Speaker 1: When you almost saw Auburn last year beating Alabama or
- 39:13Speaker 1: was that maybe that was a couple of years ago,
- 39:16Speaker 1: that crazy game that yeah, two years ago, when that
- 39:20Speaker 1: crazy at the end of the end of the almost
- 39:23Speaker 1: cost Alabama their playoff birth and they went on to
- 39:26Speaker 1: win it, or did they win it? I can't even
- 39:30Speaker 1: remember what happened with Alabama that year.
- 39:31Speaker 2: But two years ago Michigan won at all.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so they didn't win it.
- 39:36Speaker 2: But anyways, Alabama watston the championship to Michigan correctly, So that.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Like South Carolina too, I think they're definitely the definition
- 39:46Speaker 1: of a dark horse.
- 39:47Speaker 3: So I got two big questions for you guys here
- 39:50Speaker 3: on this conference. Are you guys, Are you guys big
- 39:54Speaker 3: on the arch mating hype? And will Vanda Bulls turn
- 39:57Speaker 3: around to Oklahoma.
- 39:59Speaker 2: One turnout of home? Not big on Archie many hype.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I think he's gonna be an Okay. I think he'll
- 40:03Speaker 2: be a good quarterback because he has a lot of
- 40:04Speaker 2: good talent around him. He's gonna look good. But I
- 40:08Speaker 2: don't think he's gonna be groundbreaking or shattering, I should.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Say, I just don't believe in his arc. I don't
- 40:17Speaker 1: so like is arch good? Yeah, well, probably make a
- 40:23Speaker 1: decent NFL quarterback potentially and get at least get a
- 40:26Speaker 1: chance because of his name. Of course, Do I think
- 40:30Speaker 1: that they're gonna break through and go twelve to zero
- 40:32Speaker 1: and and run the tap? No, Like I just I
- 40:37Speaker 1: do not believe that they deserve all the hype that
- 40:41Speaker 1: they're getting a lot of it's just name hype Oklahoma.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Do I think he'll turn it around? No? Do I
- 40:50Speaker 1: think he'll have a good enough year that he retains
- 40:52Speaker 1: his job? Yes?
- 40:55Speaker 3: Wow. I mean it'd have to be.
- 40:58Speaker 1: And that's probably worst case scenario. You're right, Deck, that
- 41:01Speaker 1: he just ride out at seven and five and just
- 41:04Speaker 1: like just floats there for about three or four years
- 41:07Speaker 1: and they just can't decide whether they want to do
- 41:09Speaker 1: with them.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I don't know. I love what he's done. The defense,
- 41:12Speaker 3: it's just I mean, he's completely flipped round vocal him
- 41:16Speaker 3: and normally is Their defense was great last year and then,
- 41:20Speaker 3: but their offense was absolutely terrible. So if he can't
- 41:23Speaker 3: figure out anything on the offensive side, I like him like.
- 41:27Speaker 2: The reverse uh Lincoln.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Yeah. And I can't even comment on the marsh meting
- 41:35Speaker 3: height because I'll be too biased. I hope he sucks.
- 41:40Speaker 3: He's he's quick. He's actually quicker than what people think too.
- 41:42Speaker 3: That's the scary part.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Is good on the ground. I think it'll be good.
- 41:46Speaker 2: But I think he's gonna win the Heisman this year.
- 41:48Speaker 1: No. Uh. The other other team we haven't talked at
- 41:53Speaker 1: all about is Josh hipel In Tennessee, which maybe because
- 41:56Speaker 1: we haven't talked about him is maybe in reason why
- 41:58Speaker 1: to call him a sleeper. I mean they're they're win
- 42:02Speaker 1: total and I mean they're right there, they've been there
- 42:04Speaker 1: the past couple of years. Well, yeah, we even't even
- 42:07Speaker 1: mentioned him obviously. Nico Yama Baalala went to u c
- 42:14Speaker 1: l An take.
- 42:15Speaker 2: A class on these Polynesian names. I struggle with them.
- 42:19Speaker 1: And it's tough. It's tough.
- 42:22Speaker 3: They're they're big on their quarterback down there. Who'd they
- 42:25Speaker 3: get I cannot it's a freshman, I'm pretty sure, or sophomore.
- 42:30Speaker 2: I think you're right, and.
- 42:32Speaker 3: I cannot remember what his name is. But they are
- 42:33Speaker 3: big on him down like they they're thinking about start
- 42:37Speaker 3: even if Nico stayed, which is the reason why I
- 42:39Speaker 3: think he kind of laughed. I mean there's other reasons too,
- 42:41Speaker 3: but they think I'm putting this guy in over Nico.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Uh. Joey Aguilar Aguilar, he is a senior. He transferred from.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Appalachian State after a stint at U c l. A.
- 42:59Speaker 2: That's right, run for six thousand yards and fifty touchdowns
- 43:02Speaker 2: during his time in the Appalachian State. Actually play three
- 43:06Speaker 2: touchdowns for a teenager sception three thousand yards.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Awesome. You're gonna say the big tenth for the last
- 43:15Speaker 1: I can. I'll do the a sec quick.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll probably have more comments on the Big ten.
- 43:19Speaker 1: So there are some comments here on the ACC. But
- 43:26Speaker 1: Clemson your favorites, along with Miami. Maybe throw in Louisville.
- 43:37Speaker 1: We'll talk about Florida State Clemson with kid Club Nick Dabo.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Even though they're the favorites. Guys, Davo's got a lot
- 43:46Speaker 1: of pressure, I think to win something based on what
- 43:50Speaker 1: has happened the past few years. He was very anti portal.
- 43:54Speaker 1: He's coming around on it now but still lagging behind everybody,
- 43:57Speaker 1: and that's cost him. I mean the grand scheme of things.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Their win total is nine and a half and it's
- 44:03Speaker 1: very heavily favored to the overs. Kave Klubnick is one
- 44:07Speaker 1: of the Heisman favorites as well, competing with them. You know,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I mentioned Miami Carson Beck coming over from Georgia. I
- 44:17Speaker 1: believe he got like a three million dollar deal out
- 44:20Speaker 1: of that Miami crystal Ball. They got a lot of
- 44:25Speaker 1: talent down there. We know that SMU last year, you know,
- 44:29Speaker 1: made the run and play in the title game. With
- 44:31Speaker 1: Kevin Jennings, he's I think he's back again. That could
- 44:34Speaker 1: have been a chat jbt Air as well, but I
- 44:36Speaker 1: think he's back. Orida State two wins last year, guys
- 44:43Speaker 1: Mike Norvel is now in year five. They take Tony
- 44:47Speaker 1: White from US, they bring in Boston College quarterback Tommy Castillanos.
- 44:53Speaker 1: They maybe could make a run out of it again.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Their win totals all the way back up at seven
- 44:57Speaker 1: and a half, and C's State's got a damn good
- 45:01Speaker 1: wide receiver in Kevin Concepcion Louisville and Jeff Brom Miller
- 45:06Speaker 1: Moss comes over from from USC. I've always been a
- 45:10Speaker 1: big Jeff Brom guy. They're another team that could compete
- 45:14Speaker 1: here for a title. Eight and a half win total there.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Georgia Tech maybe a sleeper that could be doing a
- 45:20Speaker 1: lot of things. Their win total is actually seven and
- 45:22Speaker 1: a half. But Brent Kee another guy that's up and
- 45:26Speaker 1: coming in the college football ranks. He's going to be
- 45:30Speaker 1: a hot commodity, I think at larger schools if there's
- 45:33Speaker 1: any movement at the top. Haines King's back at quarterback there,
- 45:39Speaker 1: and then probably the last storyline the most that's gotten
- 45:43Speaker 1: maybe some of the most attention in the offseason nationally
- 45:46Speaker 1: is Bill Belichick coming over North Carolina. They played TCU
- 45:52Speaker 1: in their opening game. We'll see how that works. I
- 45:58Speaker 1: do you guys have any opinions or thoughts on is
- 46:01Speaker 1: this like long term? Is this a stint? Is this
- 46:03Speaker 1: like a I'm gonna call it a joke, but like
- 46:07Speaker 1: is it?
- 46:08Speaker 2: What?
- 46:08Speaker 1: What's the whole take on Bill Belichick? Given that it's
- 46:10Speaker 1: gotten a lot of attention here over the past few months.
- 46:14Speaker 2: It'll be that long term, he's pretty freaking old point.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was gonna say, right there, can't
- 46:23Speaker 3: I mean, would you call five years for him long term?
- 46:26Speaker 2: That's the long term for any coach these days.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess, I guess I do. Do you guys
- 46:32Speaker 3: think he makes it five years?
- 46:36Speaker 2: No?
- 46:38Speaker 3: No, I don't know how. I don't know how these
- 46:43Speaker 3: college kids are gonna take his his hard nos coaching.
- 46:48Speaker 2: It's nice because I don't have any bad habits that
- 46:49Speaker 2: he has to, you know, coach hard out. I don't know.
- 46:58Speaker 2: It feels wrong. I don't like it, that's my sake.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I'm excited to watch it, like.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to see what happens because I mean,
- 47:08Speaker 2: there's the world ACC is not that strong. It could
- 47:10Speaker 2: work out, It could.
- 47:15Speaker 3: I don't think there's anything between with him. I think
- 47:17Speaker 3: it's gonna go either absolutely fantastic or just be atrocious.
- 47:22Speaker 3: And he's gone in it a year and a half,
- 47:25Speaker 3: two years.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I either that or it's going to go really well
- 47:30Speaker 1: and someone else is gonna come, calls Simpson.
- 47:33Speaker 2: In Miami the only two preseason top twenty five.
- 47:37Speaker 3: I believe.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So yeah, maybe Louisville Craft in there.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Well, I didn't even I didn't think about this. He's
- 47:42Speaker 3: probably doing this so his son can be the coach
- 47:45Speaker 3: after he's gone.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Maybe maybe it's not the NFL.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Uh Callum Stanford also in this conference I hadn't mentioned,
- 47:57Speaker 1: but the lovely West Coast three hour time difference travel
- 48:02Speaker 1: that a lot of these teams have to face. Yeah,
- 48:08Speaker 1: Syracuse lost Kyle McCord. Their wind holds down quite a bit.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Duke maybe a dark horse. I'm hanging around their Virginia.
- 48:17Speaker 1: I don't like them Boston College because I'm in the
- 48:20Speaker 1: bowl game. Not a big fan Wake Forest. Yeah, if
- 48:28Speaker 1: I had to pick a team here, potentially here is
- 48:31Speaker 1: a fun thing. If if the Bill Belichick thing does
- 48:34Speaker 1: work like it's worth taking a shot on them to
- 48:36Speaker 1: win the conference. Just throw out five bucks on it.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I think it's you get very very nice odds on it.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Georgia Tech's a team that I kind of like this
- 48:47Speaker 1: year to make me noise, you know, can't the Clemson things?
- 48:51Speaker 1: And then can can you? Can you compete with Clemson?
- 48:53Speaker 1: I mean, even more so than what we talked about
- 48:56Speaker 1: with the SEC, it's it's really a Clemson's conference to lose.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I think it has been the past several years. You know,
- 49:04Speaker 1: can Miami make some noise, but Clemson's about yeah, clemons
- 49:08Speaker 1: about right? It even on is to win the conference
- 49:10Speaker 1: this year, I think they'll at least be playing in
- 49:12Speaker 1: the conference title game.
- 49:16Speaker 2: At ACZ talk, we'll talk about the one team that
- 49:20Speaker 2: wins their championship in the playoffs again.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's that's the other topic with the
- 49:28Speaker 1: ACC is is how they fit into this whole playoff conversation.
- 49:33Speaker 1: You know, they're the Big twelve kind of, but they're
- 49:35Speaker 1: the ones that are the outsiders that are trying to
- 49:38Speaker 1: get their seat at the big table and they just
- 49:40Speaker 1: can't seem to do it. And I don't know if
- 49:43Speaker 1: they ever will unless this year, they you know, win
- 49:47Speaker 1: some not. I don't even know what their non conference
- 49:49Speaker 1: cross games are if they have any. But they got
- 49:51Speaker 1: to prove I think the people that they're worthy to
- 49:54Speaker 1: compete with some of the top teams in the SEC
- 49:56Speaker 1: and the Big Ten. But they have not done so.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, not when you take SMU in the first year.
- 50:03Speaker 1: SMU comes in first year and that's what they did
- 50:07Speaker 1: to the to the a CC. That does not look
- 50:09Speaker 1: good on your conference.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Nope, it does not.
- 50:14Speaker 1: All right, take let's round it out.
- 50:18Speaker 2: So it was similar to last year where we had
- 50:21Speaker 2: kind of had that those tiers. We had the top tier,
- 50:24Speaker 2: midley tier, and then the bottom dwellers. I do think
- 50:29Speaker 2: the middle tier is thinned up a little bit this
- 50:31Speaker 2: year in comparison to last year. I do think there's
- 50:33Speaker 2: kind of an additional tier. So you have your top tier,
- 50:35Speaker 2: which will be it's gonna be your Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Those three are clear favorites. All three were in contention
- 50:45Speaker 2: last year for a national title. All tyear and contention
- 50:47Speaker 2: this year for a national title.
- 50:49Speaker 1: All three ten and a half win totals, all.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Three ten and a half win totals, So take one
- 50:54Speaker 2: of those unders. Well, actually you might not even have
- 50:56Speaker 2: to take one of those unders, but having three teams
- 51:01Speaker 2: with eleven wins is that'd be a lot in the conference.
- 51:05Speaker 2: So I feel like one of those teams is probably
- 51:07Speaker 2: gonna have a ten win season, but tough to see.
- 51:12Speaker 2: And then you have a second tier, which is the
- 51:14Speaker 2: new tier this year, which I think is gonna be
- 51:16Speaker 2: Michigan and Indiana. May in Illinois, I think they kind
- 51:19Speaker 2: of rose to the top of that middle tier. Michigan
- 51:24Speaker 2: last year, they kind of came on late, they end
- 51:26Speaker 2: up winning their last three games, and they had a
- 51:28Speaker 2: terrible quarterback. They did not throw the ball very well
- 51:31Speaker 2: at all. They have a new freshman that they stole
- 51:33Speaker 2: from LSU, five star quarterback Underwood coming in, so their
- 51:36Speaker 2: passing game is a little bit better. Indiana will probably
- 51:39Speaker 2: take a step back a little bit this year, they
- 51:41Speaker 2: also have a new quarterback, but I still think that
- 51:44Speaker 2: they'll be a ten win team. And then Illinois also
- 51:48Speaker 2: last year had a surprising ten wins season, and they're
- 51:51Speaker 2: returning a lot of their key players from last year,
- 51:54Speaker 2: so they'll probably be up there as well.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Are we buying the Illinois hype like that's the one
- 51:58Speaker 1: team in the Big ten Penn State. You can talk
- 52:00Speaker 1: about them, but Illinois is the one that I just
- 52:03Speaker 1: keep hearing, just massive expectations for you're talking playoff birth
- 52:10Speaker 1: winning games in playoffs. I mean I've been a Brett
- 52:12Speaker 1: Beilam a fan, but yeah, that's the one team. I
- 52:15Speaker 1: think it is in a lot of preseason hype this year.
- 52:18Speaker 2: So they won ten games last year, sixteen other stars
- 52:24Speaker 2: are returning play pull up their schedule real quick. They
- 52:28Speaker 2: have it on this page.
- 52:30Speaker 4: I mean it's it's because of the quarterback, right, I mean,
- 52:35Speaker 4: Louke Baldtmeyer is a good quarterback, and he's not you
- 52:39Speaker 4: make the comments of Big ten doesn't have a great quarterbacks.
- 52:41Speaker 1: He's not. He's not a top ten hiking guy.
- 52:46Speaker 2: I will say of our of the top teams Penn
- 52:49Speaker 2: States returning quarterback, but Ohio State new quarterback, Oregon new quarterback,
- 52:53Speaker 2: Michigan new quarterback, Indiana new quarterback. Illinois has got returning
- 52:57Speaker 2: quarterback USC I don't know they have.
- 53:02Speaker 1: It's kind of a new quarterback Miller boss.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Because they had quarterback battle, right.
- 53:09Speaker 1: Jaydon Mayavas who played against us.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Iowa new quarterback.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Which which we got to get into him.
- 53:18Speaker 2: So Illinois schedule, Western Illinois, Duke, Western, Michigan, Indiana, USC, Purdue,
- 53:23Speaker 2: Ohio State, Washington, Rutgers, Maryland, Wisconsin, Northwestern. That's a pretty
- 53:31Speaker 2: pretty good schedule with a big ten. You have Ohio State,
- 53:36Speaker 2: but your next hardest game is Indiana, which we probably
- 53:40Speaker 2: all agree Indiana's not in the same calibert as Ohio State,
- 53:42Speaker 2: organ State, Penn State.
- 53:44Speaker 1: What about Indiana, Like obviously last year game, what they did.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I think everybody's expecting a decline, but how much.
- 53:54Speaker 2: They're not gonna win eleven games? I think ten games
- 53:56Speaker 2: is very doable. I mean Cals they got a Cal
- 54:02Speaker 2: transfer quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, but Signetti kind of showed that,
- 54:08Speaker 2: like I mean he could do it with transfers. Now
- 54:11Speaker 2: you're starting to get transfers who weren't he wasn't coaching before.
- 54:14Speaker 2: So now you have the new system aspect. But their
- 54:18Speaker 2: top three defensive players are coming back from last year
- 54:20Speaker 2: as well. No, I don't think they lost any of
- 54:23Speaker 2: their coordinators either, and they held teams to fifteen point
- 54:26Speaker 2: six points last year. Now they had an easier schedule,
- 54:28Speaker 2: but I think Indiana has a similar similar schedule.
- 54:33Speaker 1: For me, I think they're going back to seven wins.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Six wins in my I mean, I think they're gonna
- 54:40Speaker 1: fall off. Teams are gonna be ready for him this year.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I think they caught a lot of teams by surprise,
- 54:45Speaker 1: and that's credit to Signetti and everything they did that
- 54:48Speaker 1: there's no discredit to them.
- 54:50Speaker 2: But second or six I have them.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I think I think they're going to lose up to
- 54:55Speaker 1: some games that they won last year. I just, I
- 54:59Speaker 1: just I just don't think that teams are going to
- 55:01Speaker 1: be surprised by what they see now from Indiana, whereas
- 55:04Speaker 1: last year they were like, oh crap. I mean including Nebraska.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Yes, I mean they play they played Penn State, Oregon,
- 55:15Speaker 2: and the next toughest game is Illinois, and then their
- 55:18Speaker 2: next toughest game is U C.
- 55:20Speaker 1: L A.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Wisconsin. Maryland.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I can seehim. I can see him
- 55:27Speaker 1: losing a couple that's not from Maryland.
- 55:28Speaker 3: But they they never play anybody harder than non conference,
- 55:32Speaker 3: and they're supposed to play decent teams like these years
- 55:35Speaker 3: coming up, and they're buying out of those games to
- 55:36Speaker 3: play easier teams.
- 55:38Speaker 2: You don't think Old Dominion is a tough game that
- 55:42Speaker 2: I take that.
- 55:42Speaker 3: I take that back. They play some really tough opponents
- 55:44Speaker 3: in the no.
- 55:51Speaker 2: So that kind of runs out that second upper the
- 55:53Speaker 2: upper tier of the middle tier, and then it's kind
- 55:56Speaker 2: of our tier where it's US, Iowa, USC, Washington, maybe
- 56:01Speaker 2: from Minnesota and Wisconsin into that and then the bottom
- 56:06Speaker 2: tier your wreckers Maryland, Northwestern maybe Michigan State and Ucla
- 56:11Speaker 2: probably on the top or end of that tier.
- 56:13Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean from a win total perspective, it
- 56:17Speaker 1: definitely you can see the tiers kind of drop off
- 56:19Speaker 1: as they go. Yeah, it's hard thing putting us and
- 56:25Speaker 1: putting us in tier three is still hard for me.
- 56:28Speaker 2: But I think this, I think we're towards the top
- 56:30Speaker 2: of tier three.
- 56:31Speaker 1: A lot of these schedules are factored in here too. Yes,
- 56:36Speaker 1: that's why I mentioned, you know, our schedule being a
- 56:39Speaker 1: little bit easier than what we've had in the past.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I think that also helps where our wind total is at.
- 56:44Speaker 1: You know, we're right there with like you said, Minnesota
- 56:46Speaker 1: and Iowa. In Wisconsin on the other hand, their schedule
- 56:51Speaker 1: is is a lot tougher and they're down at five
- 56:53Speaker 1: and a half. Yeah, so it's hard, like again, where
- 56:57Speaker 1: do we where do we stuck up against your USC's
- 56:59Speaker 1: walk ninten Ze's teams. I don't, I don't know it
- 57:04Speaker 1: is it's just a big jumbled group there. It's kind
- 57:08Speaker 1: of like the SEC where there's a lot of teams.
- 57:09Speaker 1: I think there's a little more separation than the SEC here,
- 57:13Speaker 1: but I don't.
- 57:15Speaker 3: I I don't know.
- 57:15Speaker 1: It's it's it's hard to tell, you know, what's what's
- 57:18Speaker 1: Michigan going to do this year? That's hard to say.
- 57:22Speaker 2: I will say the because what's the current over under
- 57:26Speaker 2: for Iowa and a half? See, I think that's an
- 57:30Speaker 2: over don't you think? I don't know, it could be.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I mean, they're their schedules. They they've been the ones
- 57:37Speaker 1: that talk about easy schedules year after year. I think
- 57:44Speaker 1: I do like the over on that too, as much
- 57:46Speaker 1: as I hate to say it. But the ways to
- 57:49Speaker 1: win games they do every year.
- 57:50Speaker 2: And but you look at their schedule, it's like what
- 57:52Speaker 2: five games do they lose Iowa State, Oregon, Penn State,
- 57:57Speaker 2: And then it's like, okay, if they lose to Indiana, uh,
- 58:01Speaker 2: then they still have another game that they could lose,
- 58:02Speaker 2: which is going to be Nebraska obviously. So I mean
- 58:06Speaker 2: that's your seven and a half. I guess.
- 58:08Speaker 3: I so, so that tier you just said, I would
- 58:11Speaker 3: put that tier as the coaches that need to prove
- 58:14Speaker 3: it this year, like all those teams they met. Besides Iowa,
- 58:19Speaker 3: that guy is gonna be there forever.
- 58:20Speaker 2: But all Nebraska, Washington, Minnesota, Minnesota, Wisconsin.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Yeah, all of them.
- 58:29Speaker 2: That's a good point. He probably exclude.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Washington, I guess, yeah.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Because it's the second year and he went six and
- 58:36Speaker 2: six in his first year after having his entire team
- 58:38Speaker 2: cut it.
- 58:39Speaker 3: Yeah, he's probably crafted. But but the other teams for sure.
- 58:43Speaker 3: And I would put who would you put on the
- 58:46Speaker 3: hottest seat out of those teams we just mentioned, I'd
- 58:48Speaker 3: put Fickle probably, Yeah.
- 58:51Speaker 2: I don't know. Lincoln Riley gets paid a lot to
- 58:53Speaker 2: lose into Washington new defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, or for
- 59:01Speaker 2: your head coach.
- 59:03Speaker 1: I wouldn't say PJ.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Fleck is.
- 59:07Speaker 1: On the hot seat, but I do think I don't
- 59:09Speaker 1: think they're gonna keep him if they keep winning seven games.
- 59:12Speaker 2: Minnesota is definitely a program is gonna be a little
- 59:14Speaker 2: more highway. As far as patients with their coaches.
- 59:18Speaker 3: I think they're gonna be pretty good this year.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Actually, as far as bottom dweller teams like Maryland. I
- 59:23Speaker 1: think Loxley's they got to win summer he's gone. You know,
- 59:28Speaker 1: produes that maybe a little bit of leeway here, but
- 59:33Speaker 1: they're way down there.
- 59:36Speaker 3: You know.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Michigan State, Jonathan Smith, I think you're probably gonna see
- 59:40Speaker 1: some progress here potentially, But you know, again, all these schools,
- 59:43Speaker 1: like you mentioned, you're not You're not giving five years anymore,
- 59:46Speaker 1: six years to turn a program around. That's just not
- 59:48Speaker 1: going to happen in today's environment. So you know, when
- 59:51Speaker 1: we're talking year two, and even with Jed Fish at Washington,
- 59:55Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, yeah, you want six games. They're not
- 59:58Speaker 1: going to settle for a four to eight year. I mean,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: they might keep him for one more year, but you
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: know they're.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: That's why I don't think he's on a hot seat.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: I think he could go forward and not get fired. Correct.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: So we did skip over the top here a little bit.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: With what's to say that hasn't been said Penn States.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: A lot of people think Penn State's gonna be the favorite.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: It's that talk about hype.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: It's tough. The Penn State always has that hype though,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: but they do have a returning quarterback. Ohigot State has
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: a new quarterback, they still kind of have a quarterback
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: battles my understanding, they're not set on Julian saying it's
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: definitely leaning that way. And then Oregon Dante Moore or
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: were you a UCLA quarterback who's been set behind Dylan
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Gabriel last year should be getting to start this year.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: But they lost quite a few players too.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Yeah, all their odds are between plus two hundred and
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: plus three hundred three.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Teams at ten and a half, though, I mean, which
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: team would you take to not hit their over?
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Probably Organ I think I agree.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Maybe without looking at their schedule. Yeah, I might go
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Ohio State just because I think they won their Natty
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: and maybe aren't as hungry and Ryan Days like I guess,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: still kind of hate He wasn't until he won the Natalie.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: They was gonna get fired until they won it.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: I mean, me and you can play QB for them.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Just throw the ball, Jeremiah Smith, that's all you gotta do.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you couldn't, but.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: Come come get the ball from me.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Gotta pick here for the Big Ten Conference title game.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Just I struggle to pick Penn State. I really do
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I didn't, I know I should.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Oregon over Penn State.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Wow see, I was also thinking Ohio State over Penn State.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I just think Penn State will lose a big game
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: like they always do.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: I think it'll be Penn State over got On, no different,
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: but Penn State over Ohio State.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Thanks to be over Michigan, don't. I mean, Michigan's not.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Really like the next Indiana Nebraska throw us in there.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I mean, you you win all your conference games at
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Penn State, You're probably in. Could be to be close.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: A lot of a lot of hype on you guys
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: from the Barstool College Football Show.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Yep, I think I google three I.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Agree out the five I do is the most surprising team.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I chat GBT the Heisman odds. I said, what
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: are the Heisman ods? And a dark horse or two
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: of them? And Dylan.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: And if I'm not gonna say it's impossible, we have
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: to beat Michigan, but if Michigan beats US, I do
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: think it's very possible Michigan's in because they could. I mean,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: if they beat Oklahoma and US, they could easily go
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: into their last game at home against Ohio State. Undefeated,
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: and they're winning that, and they're winning that and Ryan
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Day gets fired on the spot after Ryan Day goes
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: a love.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: As well, mich you just don't know the you just
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: don't know back and.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Got a couple. He's got some suspensions to serve. But
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: they were eating five last year and they weren't. No,
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: they weren't nobody. Not hard to see a couple of
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: games switch.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Now, have we have not talked about the big storyline?
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: Did you guys see that sick ass pass that I
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: was quarterback had on the sideline the other day?
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Nope, I don't want to talk about this guy. What's
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: his name? I don't know.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: He's from South Coast State and he's gonna I don't
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: know if he's just getting hight from island fans or
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: in nationwide. But I tweeted out the other day you
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: gotta look at it, Austin dak You you.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Always keep bringing up how this guy's ahead of Dylan
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: and whatever one ranking that you saw.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: Athletic that'slet ranked him thirty seventh, Dylan thirty eighth.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: If Iowa State calls those players in a game, maybe
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: I'll start to think about it. If I remember correctly.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Last year they also had a lot of receivers that
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: dropped a lot of passes.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: I don't know. I think I think Farans can coach
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: no quarterback out of anybody.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he can. He'll be there as long as he
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: wants to be. Okay, Before we close out here today,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: I want to through the hypmannods we've named. I think everybody, yes,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: we have on this list. Uh so you guys, without
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: looking at him, if you have him up, you're out
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: of this game. But start throwing out some guys. See
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: if you named see if you can name the top ten.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Arch Manning is one one.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: The guy, the guy said it's gonna win it.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Sellers Lenora Sellers is seven. But Garrett nus Meyer number two,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: tears not.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: There's probably a running back for Notre Dame. No running
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: backs number okay, DJ DJ liveways nine. There's Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Yep, as a one receiver, Jeremiah Smith. He's four.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Have we said arch Manning?
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Okay?
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: For missing three, listen a couple, I'll just name him
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: kid Club Nick. Oh yeah, yep, it's at number three.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Drew Aller is that five? Dante More from Oregons at six,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Julian Saying from Ohio States at eight, in Carson Beck
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: from Miami, former Georgia quarterbacks at ten. All these odds
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: are from Bett MGM. Any any of those guys that
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Dak you mentioned Leonora's Sellers. Yeah, Heisman's maybe a little
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: bit different. It's not so much you have to win
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: the Natty or be in the top four to probably
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: make the playoffs. For you to make to be in there,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I agree, Dak. If if South Carolina can be that
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: dark horse, Lenoris is gonna have a pretty good chance.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I don't mind those odds. I think in my mind,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: you know, someone like Kid klub Nick from Clemson, you know,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: if they do what they could in the ACC and
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Dabbo Perus himself, he's going to be up there. DJ Lagway,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: same way with Florida, just like Mark Sellers, Like you know,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: he he leads him to a playoff, birth he's probably
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: in high contention for winning the Heisman. I struggle with
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: someone like Julian saying winning it from Ohio State because
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: of what you said, Dak, with the talent they have
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: at receiver, Drew Aller, I struggle with him like he's
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: going to put up numbers and they just don't do
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: like in the Big ten that that's not the same
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: run Carson Back. Same thing with Miami, Like he's got
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: a little higher odds. But if Miami can make a
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: run and go eleven and one, like, he's probably the
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: reason why.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: That's that's one that I think if you gonna go
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: like money on fire, put money. I'm not being Carson Back.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: I didn't think he was that good at Georgia.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: No, I agree, I don't think that's probably gonna pan out.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: But no, I don't. I don't think he's that good
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: of a quarterback.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: With you like, go throw some on Blagway sellers. Just
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: try to think of the narrative, the things that have
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: to happen for these guys to do well. I mean,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I think that that's it right there. It's gonna be hard.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I mean, arch obviously if Texas runs the table, it's
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: gonna be his to lose. But what is his odds
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: plus six hundred? Yeah, well I wouldn't take that, but
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: tend to win sixty.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: I wouldn't take that. But all these Texas fans listening
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: and go ahead.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: All right, conference preview wrapping it up here. So next
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: week we'll be back. We'll do some detailed Huster talk
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: and go through the offense, defense, special teams.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: Sorry, don't make it real quick. Got check. What's the
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: best conference this year? SEC? Yeah, I'm not.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: I can't. I can't get away from that.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: And the top of the Big ten. You know, they
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: getting a lot of love, so I didn't.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Know it's it's only three though in the SEC, I
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: think has five or six. That's what still makes it
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: hard for me.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: It's just a Big ten with all the new qbs.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: It's tough to you have no idea.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Okay, no one for the A C.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: C twelve that's got everybody between five and a half.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: And eight and a half X is gonna be fun
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: come playoff discussion time because they're gonna be those the
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: ten through sixteen.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Yeah, if we're talking most fun to watch Big twelve.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Probably true.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: They I mean, guys, is funny. They could they might.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: They're gonna get their one team in maybe, and that's
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: it just because all are gonna beat each other up
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: because they're also evenly, Matt.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: If Colorado could have a losing season, that would be cool.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: That's really outside. I guess it's Big ten that's the
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: only thing I'm rooting for and back.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: To actually forgot about this. For Heisman odds, I guess
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Avery Johnson would be It would be a one you
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: could throw out there.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: He's probably.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Shortly after that, but yeah, he'd be like a dark horse. Yep,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I like it back and Dylan Ryola, guys makes the playoffs,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: he's winning the freaking Heisman, are pretty damn close to
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: it because again, he's the reason why it is. Because
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: our offense just pops and talk about a narrative, that
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: would be the narrative right there. M hm okay, that.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: Go be red tb R go be red.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: As a
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Trick at
