- 1:55So Jeff King is one of the world's leading experts on religious freedom.
- 2:00And he's the president of ICC, International Christian Concern.
- 2:04The website is persecution.org.
- 2:10He's traveled more than 70 countries.
- 2:13He's been interviewed or quoted by, interviewed or quoted by a lot of media outlets, including
- 2:18the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fox, BBC, CBN, and many, many others too many,
- 2:25too many to mention here.
- 2:26But he loves to teach the secrets of spiritual growth derived from the hidden world of
- 2:32martyrs and those who have been persecuted.
- 2:35He's the author of Islam Uncensored, last words of the martyrs.
- 2:41He actually has a new devotional out.
- 2:43It's called The Whisper.
- 2:45If you want to check that out, it's on Amazon.
- 2:47The Whisper Lessons of Renewal, whispered from the prisons of the persecuted.
- 2:54So again, as Jeff King, you can look him up, Jeff, brother, so good to connect with you.
- 2:58David, great to be with you.
- 3:00Yeah, great to see you.
- 3:01So let's start with just an overview of ICC, International Christian Concern.
- 3:07I know you've been around since I think 95, how long have you been with them and what
- 3:11have you guys been up to?
- 3:13Well, let's see, I've been around 20 some years, called through Mirageless Dream.
- 3:19We serve the persecuted overseas and we kind of do it in three primary ways.
- 3:23So first of all, as you can imagine, we do a whole bunch of bandaging.
- 3:28That means, you know, lives, bodies, repairing buildings, pastor gets killed, we take care
- 3:33of his family.
- 3:34And that's the bandaging.
- 3:35So we also build.
- 3:36So we build the church in the toughest places in the world and that can be through pushing
- 3:42out scriptures or underground pastors or even being in a gospel into North Korea.
- 3:48So that's where overseas work.
- 3:49We work on Capitol Hill.
- 3:51We work with senators and congressional representatives, state department and sometimes
- 3:55the administration, depending on who's in there.
- 3:57And then I do a whole bunch of this work with awareness and just trying to get the world.
- 4:02And the church to understand what's happening to the persecuted overseas.
- 4:07We can get as political as we want on this podcast and I often do and I have a problem
- 4:13with the lack of awareness that I think a lot of people have in the current administration,
- 4:18the Biden administration, they certainly are not helping out when it comes to other countries
- 4:24and the persecution of Christians, especially in places like Nigeria.
- 4:29I think you wrote about something over at on the website about the Nicaragua.
- 4:34Talk about that.
- 4:35And is there anything other than contacting our representatives, our senators of congressman?
- 4:40Is there anything the average Christian can can do to raise awareness about this because
- 4:45our administration doesn't seem to be as interested in helping persecuted brothers and sisters
- 4:50in Christ.
- 4:51Yeah, well, and you brought up Nigeria, David.
- 4:55Let's talk about Nigeria.
- 4:56Most people have very little idea what's going on, but I would say Nigeria is probably the
- 5:02most dangerous place to be a Christian and it's slightly different than North Korea.
- 5:07But oh my gosh, look, since the turn of the century, we've seen upwards maybe a hundred
- 5:14thousand Christians murdered.
- 5:16And you know, so that's just in the last 20 some years.
- 5:19And then another three million Christians have had their farm stone and they were killed,
- 5:25they're decimated, the lands are stolen by Islamists that are terrorist, but they're
- 5:31aided and abetted by the government.
- 5:34You can't prove that in a courtroom, but I can tell you that's what's going on after
- 5:38watching and learning and listening to plenty of Nigerians for a long time.
- 5:43So a massive, massive problem, somehow the government seems completely incompetent.
- 5:50They're not.
- 5:51They never arrest anybody.
- 5:52They never go after the perpetrators.
- 5:54They show up afterwards and say, my would a terrible thing.
- 5:56We're going to have to do something about this.
- 5:59And with the US government, they say, my gosh, this is such a hard problem.
- 6:02It's such a tough foe.
- 6:04These are guerrilla fighters.
- 6:06If you send us more money for military aid, perhaps we could do something, but nothing ever
- 6:10happens.
- 6:11Yeah.
- 6:12Money is rarely the answer because as we've seen here in America, it doesn't get to the
- 6:17people that need it.
- 6:19It's the government or corrupt officials and Nigeria, Africa, and a lot of other countries
- 6:25handle that the same way.
- 6:26But Jeff, you've got a portion of your website under take action over at persecution.org
- 6:33petition.
- 6:34There's jobs volunteer, a letter writing campaign, give monthly.
- 6:39There's internships.
- 6:40Tell us about one or two you might want to highlight for people that really don't know
- 6:44how they could get involved.
- 6:46Yeah, well, the first thing, and honestly, you asked me that question before, I really
- 6:50didn't follow up.
- 6:51So apologies.
- 6:52But the first thing is that people need to get informed.
- 6:55And it's like, look, the press isn't going to talk about this.
- 6:57The press is hostile.
- 6:58The press is hostile.
- 6:59Yeah.
- 7:00Yeah.
- 7:01The press, when they do studies, they're very liberal.
- 7:03They're hostile towards Christianity.
- 7:04So this is not going to be an interest to them unless it's some kind of major attack where
- 7:11there's some geopolitical overlay, they're not going to cover it.
- 7:14And so then the pastors are often ill informed.
- 7:18And then so the average Christian in the pew, again, they're not hearing it.
- 7:23They're not education.
- 7:24The first thing is to get educated.
- 7:25We put out a magazine called persecution.
- 7:27So people will understand what's going on in there.
- 7:30And then our website, we're pushing out news every day with what's going on.
- 7:34So that people will first of all understand and be alerted to what's going on.
- 7:39And then they can, they can call members, they can call embassies.
- 7:43That's highly effective.
- 7:45But the first thing is to get informed.
- 7:48And there's such a lack of information out there.
- 7:50And then as you said, the media certainly is not going to take up the cause of the biblical
- 7:56worldview or Christians, true Christians, I should say.
- 8:00Let's talk about some of the information I got when I was, you know, having planning
- 8:04to have you on the podcast is what happened with ISIS and the terror attack that was
- 8:09thwarted in Corteline, Idaho.
- 8:12And this guy, Alexander Scott, Makiria was very open and blatant about what he was intending
- 8:18to do.
- 8:19Just talk to us about what happened and how ICC got involved.
- 8:24Well, we're following, you know, we've seen this kind of thing for a long time.
- 8:29You know, when I got involved with the organization 20 years ago, I had to answer for myself.
- 8:34What is going on with Islam?
- 8:36Islam was the story with persecution.
- 8:39It used to be the old Marxist states, but then Islam really was the forerunner.
- 8:44And the primary cause of persecution around the world.
- 8:46So I had to, I had to study for a long time and understand what was going on with Islam
- 8:52to answer the question of persecution.
- 8:55So there's, they poured a lot of money into radicalizing the world's Muslims into putting
- 9:01lots of radical content out of the web, raising up young jihadists and madrasas, etc., etc.
- 9:10So this young man was, he was absorbing content online and then was in touch with different
- 9:21ISIS elements and was raising funds and then felt, he felt like he wasn't doing enough
- 9:27for the cause and decided to attack his local church in his town and had it planned out.
- 9:34Luckily, once he got to that stage, he was actually talking to people in the FBI.
- 9:40But very serious, he had made a, you know, a final video they arrested him the night before
- 9:45he had planned the attack on April 6th and he was planning for an attack on April 7th.
- 9:52On churches.
- 9:53On church in his town, yeah.
- 9:56We've seen, I mean, we can look at both, just the Judeo-Christian worldview, we can look
- 10:01at Jews, we can look at Christians, they're not just hostile toward the Jews because we've
- 10:07heard a lot since, you know, Hamas attacked Israel last October 7.
- 10:11But there's a lot of information out there that if they were open about a lot of people,
- 10:15a lot of them are saying, have you heard the expression, the Saturday people first, the
- 10:20Sunday people next, meaning they're going to go after the Saturday worshippers, the Jews,
- 10:25and then they're going to go after the Christians because we are the obstacle to Islam being
- 10:31spread, being radicalized because there's a hatred and what we see in the media is being
- 10:36stirred up in Hollywood, the constant, I mean, I don't understand the fact that they're
- 10:42getting away with some of this rhetoric, Jeff, but yet, since the Israel Gaza war, now
- 10:48we see it on our own college campuses and it's not going to stop there.
- 10:52So your concerns, I think this should have been the back to Idaho, that should have
- 10:59been something that raised a lot of red flags and alarm bells should have gone off, but
- 11:05they didn't really, we're back to business as usual, that should have been something that
- 11:10was kind of like a wake-up call, what are your thoughts on that?
- 11:14Well, I would totally agree and it is disconcerting.
- 11:18What's going on, why won't the press pick up on this, and one of the things I can think
- 11:23of is that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?
- 11:27And so the average liberal has no idea what they're dealing with with radical Islam.
- 11:34And you mentioned the rise and protests in the top schools, meaning the Ivy League schools,
- 11:41fascinating story again, and you can trace it back, there's a whole bunch of money from
- 11:45the goal, from the Saudis and from Qatar that is flowing to the top universities, to the
- 11:51tune of about a billion dollars a year, and a lot of that is going into the Middle East
- 11:58studies programs, they'd kind of hijack those departments around the country.
- 12:02And when you're giving out that kind of money, you have a whole lot of influence, a whole
- 12:06lot of say in what should be taught, what teachers should be hired, you know, my gosh,
- 12:13doesn't this teacher look great, wouldn't it be great to have on your campus, you know,
- 12:17of course our gift is not dependent on that, but this sure would be a great thing.
- 12:20Well, what do you think the school administrators are going to do?
- 12:23Absolutely, and this is what's happened in the Middle East studies departments across
- 12:27the country, and especially in the top schools, the, again, the Saudis and the government
- 12:33and Qatar are funding this, they've done it for 20 years, and the scary thing is that
- 12:38the universities are hiding it, and purposefully hiding it, but this is money coming in from
- 12:44honestly hostile governments.
- 12:46Yeah, I got some information on what you're talking about, and the Gatesstone Institute
- 12:51reported on this dark money nightmare, how Qatar bought the Ivy League, and it says
- 12:57approximately $13 billion in undocumented contributions from foreign governments.
- 13:04Yeah.
- 13:05Okay, man, and this is, I mean, I guess it shouldn't surprise us because it's, we've
- 13:09seen this in politics, we've seen this just in corporations and that it's the dark money,
- 13:14but we've got to take a brief pause.
- 13:16Again, friends, we have a Jeff King, president of ICC International Christian Concern, we'll
- 13:21be right back on World View Matters.

- 14:29you.
- 14:31Jeff King is with us International Christian Concern, persecution.org is the website.
- 14:36Now, let's go back to the money.
- 14:38I know there's another story I wanted to talk to, I wanted to go over to Finland, but there's
- 14:42an interesting quote in that the information I got here, what's being taught is bought.
- 14:48The money that's coming in and it's going to some of the American Ivy League schools.
- 14:54I mean, I look at these programs, Cornell, I mean, whatever you'd like to share on that,
- 14:59because I think still a lot of people are not willfully ignorant.
- 15:04They just don't know it wouldn't be in the news because they're not reporting what's
- 15:07happening behind the scenes at the university level.
- 15:11They've been really hijacked by the left and has been that way for decades.
- 15:15Share your thoughts on the money and how we can be more aware of what's happening there.
- 15:19Well, and the left is one thing, but radical Islam is a whole different thing, right?
- 15:24And China and other.
- 15:26And China, yeah.
- 15:27And of course, China's working beyond the university.
- 15:29They're stealing technology, they're buying influence.
- 15:32They are buying votes in DC, funneling money into case tree.
- 15:36Oh my gosh.
- 15:37Yeah.
- 15:38You know, the saying democracy is a terrible form of government comes to mind, but it's
- 15:43just better than all the rest.
- 15:45So, but this is always a part and parcel of democracy and you wish our intel agencies
- 15:52were stronger on this.
- 15:53But yeah.
- 15:54A phrase, I know you're a fan of David, follow the money, right?
- 15:57If there's a financial incentive, just look at what's going on.
- 16:00If you're seeing this kind of craziness and it all starts suddenly and after a
- 16:05mosque goes and slaughters over a thousand innocents and then you see this craziness
- 16:10all erupt at the same time and you see the same placards and the same sayings.
- 16:14Well, then you have to got it, you have to wonder.
- 16:16And then again, you follow the money and you know, we became aware of this more than a
- 16:21decade ago.
- 16:22We're seeing this with Georgetown with different places.
- 16:26That was kind of when the beginning, maybe about 15 years ago when the Saudi money was
- 16:30flowing in and and we couldn't put all of it together.
- 16:35It's like, you know, they're buying influence, but where does this lead?
- 16:37Now we see where it's leading.
- 16:39Now, the irony is that again, they're buying, they've really co-opted the Middle East studies
- 16:45programs and the irony is that these programs, these departments were studied, were started
- 16:51by the Pentagon, by the Intel agencies in this country because we wanted to develop
- 16:56smarts.
- 16:57We wanted to develop scholars that had an understanding of the Middle East and we were
- 17:02fairly ignorant at the time.
- 17:04So they built these departments and now foreign governments have basically come in and co-opted
- 17:08them, taken them over.
- 17:09Wow.
- 17:10It is absolutely astounding.
- 17:12People are basically being told, don't believe your eyes and what's happening.
- 17:18They have all these signs, right, professionally made banners and what about the tents being
- 17:22put up on universities?
- 17:24They're all like these same exact, I mean, this is not an organic spontaneous protest.
- 17:30Follow the money.
- 17:31Excellent point, Jeff King.
- 17:33There's an article on your website if you want to shift gears slightly about someone
- 17:37I wrote about Dr. Pavi Rosinin and this is called Christian Parliamentarian Faces Third,
- 17:44her third criminal trial for so-called alleged hate speech over in Finland.
- 17:51There's you standing with her and why did you decide to have this story over at persecution.org?
- 17:59Well, I am such a fan of Pavi.
- 18:05She's actually been in my home.
- 18:06I want an incredibly brave woman.
- 18:09She is simply a Christian MP for us, a congresswoman, 20-some-year congresswoman.
- 18:15She simply tweeted something about the Finnish church supporting gay pride march, kind of like
- 18:20what is going on?
- 18:22Well, that's all it took for basically the Finnish Justice Department, the head of the Justice
- 18:27Department to go after her and to say that we're going to lock you up for this.
- 18:33And she sent the police to do an investigation, the police look at this and the police, honestly,
- 18:39the European, they can't even figure this out.
- 18:42You're a Christian.
- 18:43What is this all about?
- 18:44We don't understand it, but there's no crime here.
- 18:47It doesn't matter, Justice Department, so-called Justice Department moves ahead to sue her
- 18:52in court, bring charges against her, exonerated in court.
- 18:58The charges are dropped.
- 18:59Guess what happens?
- 19:01Prosecutor, the chief prosecutor from the nation goes after again third time.
- 19:05So look, this strategy is it doesn't matter if you win or lose.
- 19:11And this is a case where radicals have taken the reins of government and are using them
- 19:18for their own purposes, for their own politics, not for justice.
- 19:22And they can punish her, they can grind her into the ground, they can bankrupt her.
- 19:27So that's the point.
- 19:28The process is the punishment.
- 19:31And we see the same thing.
- 19:33The clear message, just like here, the clear message is you better keep your head down,
- 19:38keep your mouth shut if you're a Christian, keep your head down.
- 19:41And above all, be nice.
- 19:44That's your job as a Christian.
- 19:45Be nice and get out of the public square.
- 19:47You don't belong here.
- 19:48Now David, guess where we see that happen overseas?
- 19:53China, Islamist states, no matter one side of their mouth, they say we have religious freedom.
- 20:00On the other hand, they say you're not allowed to share with anybody.
- 20:02You can't share rivals.
- 20:03You can't share your thoughts.
- 20:05You can't share your faith.
- 20:06You just keep it to yourself.
- 20:08And then we have no problem.
- 20:10That's what we're seeing.
- 20:11That's where Christians have to wake up.
- 20:12That's what we're seeing in the West and even in the States.
- 20:15Yeah, we are seeing that.
- 20:17And what I've called it, I've called it out, it is communist policy in America when you
- 20:24weaponize the justice system or the FBI or when you put out your ideology, your talking
- 20:30points, your marching orders, and then you censor the other side or you suppress or punish
- 20:37the opposition, meaning biblical Christians.
- 20:41But her case is fascinating because I think they're trying to make an example out of her.
- 20:45Would you agree with that?
- 20:47Absolutely.
- 20:48And they want to just teach Christians what they better not do.
- 20:51And you said something very important, influence.
- 20:53They want to keep Christian influence behind church doors.
- 20:57So we are not out in society in the public square Monday through Saturday.
- 21:01Just yeah, you're okay to go in there on Sunday.
- 21:05But this is what they're trying to do with her.
- 21:06I wrote about this last year and basically the history behind this, I did an article
- 21:11there it is over at Harbinger's Daily.
- 21:13She was just simply talking about marriage between one man and one woman and sharing
- 21:18her views.
- 21:19And she was frustrated, Jeff, I know you know the story because you know her well because
- 21:25her church wasn't talking about it.
- 21:28So she spoke up and I think a lot of people watching this podcast can relate.
- 21:34Their pastors are not addressing these issues.
- 21:36So they feel like they've got to talk about it.
- 21:38Your thoughts on that 100% agree and look, you know, this is in some ways it's a little
- 21:45exciting.
- 21:46And this is what we see with the dictator and the despot overseas.
- 21:50And what I observe overseas is that persecution, if there's any lesson, it's persecution galvanizes
- 21:59the church.
- 22:00It drives out the week.
- 22:02All those who are in church looking for mates or looking for business contacts and there's
- 22:07a whole bunch of that or just to be around nice people, they all go away.
- 22:12And what we desperately need is a people, a Christian people that are truly dependent
- 22:18on the Lord, that are truly connected with them and that's what happens with persecution
- 22:23and where that flows, that's an unstoppable church.
- 22:26That's the church that grows the fastest and that's overseas.
- 22:29So these days are, you know, they really call for people of courage and there's going
- 22:36to be a winnowing of the flock.
- 22:39And so people who don't belong in the church really need to get out.
- 22:42But those who belong, if you are a true Christian, you just have to, you just have to kind
- 22:47of pull up your bridges and say, but this is what the Lord called us to.
- 22:51He said, we're a revolutionary movement.
- 22:54We are unfortunately because we're linked with him.
- 22:57We're a stop sign to the world.
- 22:59And so what do you think, how is the world going to react?
- 23:03The answer is not to be nice.
- 23:05That's not the problem.
- 23:07The problem is we're linked with Christ.
- 23:08We are linked with God and the world has a problem with both, both God and the Son.
- 23:13But we are linked with him.
- 23:14We cannot hide and we dare not hide his message.
- 23:18We are the salt.
- 23:19We need to spread it.
- 23:20Amen.
- 23:21Big amen.
- 23:22Bold face, underlying exclamation point.
- 23:25Yes.
- 23:26Thank you, preach it, brother.
- 23:27I mean, over in Acts chapter five, they were told not to teach in the name of Jesus and
- 23:33they filled Jerusalem with the doctrine, they were accused of intending to bring the blood
- 23:38of Jesus.
- 23:39This man's blood on us.
- 23:40How did Peter and the apostles respond, we must obey God rather than men.
- 23:47So I'm going to give you an opportunity here because we don't have this connection of
- 23:53reality like these Christians that are suffering persecution in other countries are family.
- 23:59There are brothers and sisters.
- 24:00We identify with Christ, these are our family members.
- 24:03We're going to spend eternity with them.
- 24:05So we don't have that connection, but it's already on our shores.
- 24:09We're going to see more of it and want you to share whatever is on your heart and your
- 24:13thoughts to encourage those of us who are, some people are overwhelmed by this, Jeff,
- 24:19by what's happening in North America in the West, especially in the U.S. where Christians
- 24:25are being discriminated against and we're seeing it blatantly, openly, proudly.
- 24:30And I think people need to know how to respond and they need some encouragement because
- 24:34it's going to get worse probably, right?
- 24:39It sure looks like it.
- 24:40Well, let me say anybody who has discouraged, I completely understand, you know, when
- 24:44I landed at the ICC, I opened up the files and started going country by country to understand
- 24:50persecution.
- 24:51Wow.
- 24:52I can't.
- 24:53I can't tell you.
- 24:55I can't tell you what I saw beheadings for her.
- 24:59Now you do that for 20 years and I'll tell you what, you can get discouraged and for
- 25:04a lot of years I was and I say, look, I'm a student of the Scriptures and I trust the
- 25:10Lord.
- 25:11I trust the Scriptures.
- 25:12I'm a student of prophecy.
- 25:14And I say, I know the church wins.
- 25:16I know we win in the end.
- 25:17I know that I know he wins.
- 25:20But how can it be we are we are sheep and we are among wolves and we're torn and shredded
- 25:28and attacked and we're defenseless.
- 25:31And then I began to understand and I saw the sweep of history and I saw the dynamic of
- 25:37persecution and what it does to the church.
- 25:39This I gave you just a piece of it.
- 25:42How it will push out the week, it'll push out the double minded or it'll push out those
- 25:49who are more interested in the world.
- 25:51What we desperately need, what the Lord's doing with our troubles and with our sufferings,
- 25:56each of us, is he's trying to get us to give up on the world and to cling more tightly
- 26:02to him and let his power flow through us.
- 26:05So there's no reason to be discouraged.
- 26:07If you look back at church history, it's this clear as day, nothing can defeat his church.
- 26:13But in the end, nothing can defeat his church.
- 26:16I'm telling you, these are exciting days and it just calls for us to have a heart of
- 26:22courage and that's what he gives us from above.
- 26:24He will put that into our heart and we need to get back to what the church is supposed
- 26:28to be doing and that is evangelism and discipleship.
- 26:31All the churches have lost it.
- 26:33So you call, you starting in your church, don't wait for your pastor.
- 26:38Go out around you are the dead of the dying.
- 26:40You need to bring them the love of Christ and the message of salvation and then teach
- 26:45them how to believe or teach them to go to each others.
- 26:48Amen, brother.
- 26:49We need a better understanding of being ambassadors for Christ and the gospel must go forth and
- 26:54it will and it will and truth wins, Christ wins.
- 26:59He's already victorious and we are here for such a time as this.
- 27:02I appreciate you just sharing that.
- 27:03That must have been really hard to look at these stories of these innocent people that
- 27:08are killed or tortured for their, just for what they believe and what we have, the truth
- 27:13of Jesus Christ and the hope that we have.
- 27:15So great perspective today.
- 27:16I want to encourage people to check out your devotional, The Whisper.
- 27:21It's built around the stories of persecuted believers.
- 27:24That's on Amazon friends.
- 27:25And again, Jeff King's website, Christian persecution, over at persecution.org International
- 27:33Christian concern.
- 27:34I see.
- 27:35See, we appreciate your time.
- 27:36Lord, we'll do this again.
- 27:37Thank you so much.
- 27:38Thank you, David.
- 27:39All right.
- 27:40Friends, share this.
- 27:42Please God bless you and as always, keep speaking the truth about things that matter.
