- 0:49Give me my Mountain. Let's pray and ask the Lord to
- 0:53bless his word. Will you join me please?
- 0:56Father, we thank you so much for your word this morning.
- 0:59We pray. Father, that you would bless
- 1:00you. Your word is life.
- 1:02It is true that his Spirit, we don't want information, we want
- 1:05transformation, and so Grant to us, Lord ears to hear and hearts
- 1:10to receive your word that we might bear fruit to your glory
- 1:13be magnified. We pray in Jesus name and
- 1:17everyone said, amen. Amen.
- 1:20I like to sing this little course before we get started and
- 1:23it's one of my favorite and it's real short.
- 1:26So I'm not gonna put on a concert.
- 1:28Amen. But you must some of you might
- 1:30know it. It's Heine.
- 1:32The I need thee every hour. I need me.
- 2:00Now, my savior. I come.
- 2:08Until I need thee. Oh, I need thee every hour.
- 2:24I need thee. Oh, bless me now.
- 2:33My savior. I come until the, you need him
- 2:50this morning. Amen.
- 2:53Praise His name in our text. We find what I call the
- 3:00testimony of Caleb. Who was Caleb.
- 3:02Caleb and Joshua were the only two of the 12 Spies that.
- 3:07The sent into the land of promise to spy out the land and
- 3:11they were the only two that come back with a good report.
- 3:14They said we could take the land yet that other 10 Spies of the
- 3:1812, that Moses sent into the land of Canaan to spy out the
- 3:21land. They doubt.
- 3:22It said we were like grasshoppers in their site.
- 3:25We cannot take the land. And as a result, as many of, you
- 3:30know, you're well, taught in the word of God, that the children
- 3:33of Israel because of their doubt doubting the word of God.
- 3:37Wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, that whole generation
- 3:41perished in the wilderness except for Joshua, and Caleb and
- 3:45Joshua, succeeded, Moses, as leader of the children of
- 3:49Israel, and Caleb was given a promise by Moses that actually
- 3:53came from God for him to have an inheritance in the land of
- 3:59promise. and, My prayer today in this message entitled, give me
- 4:08my mountain is that God will fill you with faith to say, give
- 4:14me Lord, my Mountain. What do I mean by mountains?
- 4:18And I'm speaking of the promises of God, the will of God, the
- 4:21purpose of God for your life. For every one of us here, God
- 4:25has a purpose. He has a will, his will for your
- 4:28life. And that is the Prosper.
- 4:30You Jeremiah 29:11. God's thoughts toward you
- 4:34continually are not thoughts of evil but of good to give you a
- 4:38future and a hope, the Bible says and God does have a plan
- 4:43for your life. Do you just say that all the
- 4:44time? And and when I came to Christ
- 4:46they would say God has a plan for your life and then sometimes
- 4:50over the years some kind of wondered hit oh lord, your plan
- 4:53is kind of gone awry. You know, there's so many trials
- 4:56and tribulations, I've gone through.
- 4:57But in reality you know, his plan is still a good plan and
- 5:02God is still a good God and I've watched God even through the
- 5:06difficult times. Be glorified and his plan for
- 5:10you is still in place. God has not forgotten you.
- 5:12I pray that you will leave here today filled with faith and
- 5:16trust and hope. And God saying God give me my
- 5:19Mountain. I want to live out your purpose
- 5:21and will for my life and this is what we see.
- 5:24Caleb declaring, this was his testimony Lord.
- 5:28Give me my Mountain as we will see here within the text.
- 5:32I think a Of times we, as Believers have become settlers.
- 5:36We settle for less than what God has ordained for us.
- 5:40We think, oh, that's for everybody else.
- 5:41That's for Pastor. Ed this for, you know, the
- 5:44people who know the word pastors, or what have you but
- 5:46not me. Oh yes, you I love what Paul,
- 5:49the Apostle said to the church in Corinth, when they were
- 5:51arguing about, you know, some belong to Paul and some belong
- 5:55to a policy and some bit long to cephas.
- 5:57That is Peter and Paul reminded them all things are yours.
- 6:01Do you believe that today? Day that God's promises to
- 6:04offer. You not just for some spiritual
- 6:07Elite or whatever, but all things belong to you and so I
- 6:12pray that God will embolden you today and you will say with
- 6:15Caleb, by the end of this message, God give me my
- 6:20Mountain. I want you to read along with me
- 6:22and Joshua, chapter 14 verses 6 to 15, it's a little long but it
- 6:27sets the stage for the message in verse 6.
- 6:30The Bible says Joshua 14. Then Children of Judah came to
- 6:34Joshua in gilgal and Caleb the son of jephunneh a and the kids
- 6:39are night, Ken has excuse me said to him.
- 6:43And he speaking I'll Caleb is speaking to Joshua, the leader
- 6:46of Israel, the land the land, indeed.
- 6:49A leader of the children of Israel.
- 6:51The land Canaan, the promised land has been subdued.
- 6:54They have defeated their enemies.
- 6:56And so now Caleb comes to Joshua his homeboy, if you will.
- 7:00All right. And he says, you know, know the
- 7:03word, which the Lord said to Moses, the man of God,
- 7:06concerning you and me and caters barnea verse 7.
- 7:10He says, I was 40 years old, when Moses the servant of the
- 7:15Lord sent me from Kadesh barnea to spy out the land.
- 7:19And I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.
- 7:24Nevertheless, my brethren, who went with me May the heart of
- 7:28the people melt but I Caleb said, holy follow.
- 7:33The Lord my God. So Moses swore on that day
- 7:37saying, surely the land were your foot has trodden shall be
- 7:41your inheritance and your children's forever.
- 7:44Because you have there it is again wholly.
- 7:47Followed the Lord. My God, verse 10.
- 7:51And now behold, the Lord has kept me alive.
- 7:54Caleb said, as he said these 45 years ever since the Lord spoke
- 8:02his words, Word. This word rather to Moses while
- 8:05Israel wandered in the wilderness and now here I am
- 8:08this day, 85 years, young right, 85 years old as yet I am as
- 8:16strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me just as the
- 8:21strength was my strength. Was then, so now is my strength
- 8:25for war, both for going out. And for coming in now,
- 8:31therefore, give Me this mountains.
- 8:35No mountain. In other words, give me my
- 8:37inheritance of which the Lord spoke in that day for you heard
- 8:42in that day, how the anakim were there.
- 8:45And that the cities were great and fortified, it may be that
- 8:49the Lord will be with me and I shall be able to drive them out.
- 8:55As the Lord said verse 13 and Joshua be blessed him and gave
- 9:01Hebron to Uh, Caleb, the son of jephunneh, as an inheritance in
- 9:07Hebron, therefore, became the inheritance of Caleb, the son of
- 9:11jephunneh the Kina site to this day because he here it is again.
- 9:18Holy follow the lord, god of Israel and the name of Heaven
- 9:24formerly was Curtis care. Just arba Ann Arbor was the
- 9:28greatest man among the anakim then Land had rest from war,
- 9:36amen. Caleb his name in Hebrew means
- 9:42dog, interesting? And you know, young people run
- 9:46around the day. Sometimes I'm Deke eyes, think
- 9:48they're hip and, you know, or what have you and nobody even
- 9:51says hip anymore, but they think they're cool and they're calling
- 9:55each other, dog. Yo, dawg.
- 9:56What's going on, dog? Was Donald dog, and they think
- 9:58that it originated with them. No, it originated with Caleb.
- 10:01Amen. I'm a Joshua probably said yo
- 10:04dawg what's up? You know to Caleb and his name
- 10:07means dog but I thought what a fitting name because dogs are
- 10:10determined creatures. Tenacious, determine creatures.
- 10:15I heard a story once about a dog that was accidentally left at a
- 10:19rest, stop Ida family and that poor little dog found his way
- 10:23home. 40 miles away some 26 days later.
- 10:26They are tenacious animals and Caleb here when you think about
- 10:31it possessed, A dog is what I call a dog dish.
- 10:35Tenacious Faith, a faith, determine to receive all that
- 10:41God had promised them. Do you have that sort of Faith
- 10:45are tenacious way? I believe we today, the time, in
- 10:48which we live, you need to have a tenacious faith, not a
- 10:51lukewarm Faith, Jesus said be hot or cold or I was little.
- 10:54If you're lukewarm, I'll spit you out of my mouth and we need
- 10:57a tenacious Faith, which the Lord?
- 10:59I'm determined to follow you, the faith of job.
- 11:02Whose wife told him after he lost everything?
- 11:05Why don't you just Curse God and die?
- 11:07Then sometimes you don't want to take your wife's advice.
- 11:11But job said yet though, he may slay me.
- 11:14I will serve him that's spiritual tenacity.
- 11:18He had faith in God. I think since we were on this
- 11:21theme of Caleb, Dina, you know, his name, meaning, dog.
- 11:24I think. And some of us have faith, that
- 11:27is maybe really small. That's okay, because as a
- 11:29mustard seed of faith, that can move a mountain, Jesus said,
- 11:33amen. So you don't need to need to be
- 11:34some big monstrous animals on big monsters, dog, or whatever,
- 11:40just a little dog, but with a lot of faith, hey, men, and you
- 11:43can, you can move mountains, With just a little bit of faith
- 11:45and I thought, well, you know, we should probably all be
- 11:48spiritual Chihuahuas. Amen.
- 11:50You don't chihuahuas are those little bitty dogs, but they're
- 11:53just a meanest thing. Sometimes you remember that dog
- 11:56in your neighborhood? Every time you go riding your
- 11:57bike by that house and that he comes, I guess it's biting at
- 12:02you and you're kicking at it. And it's just two, Natures are
- 12:04just trying to build bite you in all this and all that kind of
- 12:07stuff. And I thought, you know, they
- 12:08know that's the kind of faith. We need a tenacious Faith, you
- 12:11know, in that Chihuahua, kind of faith.
- 12:13I really Think they'll cha was there so irritating.
- 12:16Sometimes I think Chihuahuas. I think chihuahuas are going to
- 12:19hell for sure. I just I just don't.
- 12:22Now, don't get mad at me. I mean, some of you probably.
- 12:24Don't you also hate show homeless.
- 12:28He hates Fifi. No, I'm not, I'm not against
- 12:30Chihuahuas, but, you know, and of course you don't want him to
- 12:32go to hell because if they did go to hell, they'd be hot dogs.
- 12:35Anyway. Anyway, so social wasps but we
- 12:38need to wahwah Faith, man. Tenacious, just chasing as I
- 12:43spy, I'm going to go on. Laughter, never quitting.
- 12:46That's the kind of faith. I believe.
- 12:47We've got to have to tell you, so maybe we should get little
- 12:50t-shirts and say Chihuahua Faith.
- 12:52Amen. And then people, you could
- 12:53explain what that means. I'm tenacious about following
- 12:56Jesus. We're letting this and following
- 12:59the Lord. And Paul said, I may be down but
- 13:02I'm not out because I'm tenacious about following
- 13:06Christ. In this passage, we find
- 13:12Components of Caleb's, tenacious attitude.
- 13:17His tenacious faith. Evidence pointing to the fact
- 13:23that he wholly followed the Lord.
- 13:28Anybody can boast about holy following the Lord, but here's
- 13:31the deal. Where's the fruit?
- 13:33Where's the evidence? We find evidence in Caleb's life
- 13:37and it's evidence that we should note within our own lives.
- 13:41Verse 8 says that he holy follow the lord and elsewhere within
- 13:45our text. As this says that he holy follow
- 13:48the lord. And we have evidence of that
- 13:51here within this message that I want to share with you.
- 13:58The word holy is interesting. Says, he wholly, followed the
- 14:02Lord because in Hebrew is the word Mala.
- 14:06It means to be fool or armed. God wants you armed and
- 14:13extremely dangerous against the kingdom of darkness.
- 14:17And the only way you can be armed and extremely dangerous
- 14:20against the kingdom of darkness is to be wholly, committed and
- 14:25surrender to the Lord. That's why he wants all of our
- 14:28heart not just 99.9% but all our heart and if you will seek me,
- 14:32the Lord says with all of your heart you will find me.
- 14:36That's what the Lord says. Holy surrendered to the Lord.
- 14:42So the opposite is true too. If we're not wholly, surrendered
- 14:44to the Lord, then we are disarmed and the devil laughs at
- 14:49your faith because he knows you're not completely committed
- 14:53to the Lord and if you're not commit completely committed to
- 14:55the Lord, you can be bought and believe you mean the devil
- 14:59knows? Every one of us have a price.
- 15:03We're why we're willing to capitulate in our faith.
- 15:08So with important for us to be holy following in holy syringe
- 15:11to the Lord to be armed and extremely dangerous toward the
- 15:15kingdom of darkness less, we walk and live, rather as victims
- 15:20rather than Victor's in Christ. The Bible tells us in Romans
- 15:238:37. You know what?
- 15:25Well, yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through
- 15:29him who loved us more than conquerors through him who loved
- 15:34us, that means that the war has been won.
- 15:38Double in the life of the believer has been defeated.
- 15:42But though the wars won, there's still many battles to be fought.
- 15:46And some of you may be fighting in a battle, even this morning,
- 15:51it has like in the during World War Two and the Germany
- 15:57surrendered in the South Pacific, that the Japanese
- 16:01surrendered Empire of Japan, surrendered at that time and
- 16:04all. But there are still pockets of
- 16:06resistance and every one of us, within our flesh have little
- 16:09pockets of resistance. You belong to the Lord.
- 16:13The war is over. You have Victory in Jesus more
- 16:17than a conqueror in him, but they're still battled.
- 16:19Here's the good news. The Battle Is Not Yours, its the
- 16:22Lords, the Lord fights for you. Amen.
- 16:26Praise His holy name. And so, we have here.
- 16:32The very fact that we are more than conquerors in the Lord.
- 16:37We have victory in him. And I Victory comes from the
- 16:41fact that we should be wholly committed to him.
- 16:45As Caleb was, and we have here to evidence three evidences,
- 16:50again, of Caleb's commitment to the Lord.
- 16:52Again, it's not just lip service.
- 16:55It's a part of his characters, apart of his life.
- 16:58First thing that I find here, evidence that he is wholly
- 17:01surrendered to the Lord is that Caleb.
- 17:03Trusted in the Lord's timing. This is a hard one for me in
- 17:09full disclosure. As people say, it's a hard one
- 17:11for me. Verse 7.
- 17:13He says that he trusts in God he says you know, that he was
- 17:16called or was a spy sent out as a spy back in Numbers Chapter
- 17:2113, you know when he was 40 years old, he's now 85 45 years.
- 17:28Ears waiting for God's promise. And not only that seen people in
- 17:33this generation dropping like flies, and you can imagine a
- 17:37double come in and saying, oh, you're as you're next and yet he
- 17:40continued to trust God, despite how old he was getting and all
- 17:44the years that passed, how about you, can you trust God that lot
- 17:4745 years? I mean, I give God something as
- 17:50a lord. I just pray I just place it in
- 17:52your hands. I'm all spiritual place.
- 17:56It in your hands. Lord, two weeks go by and said
- 17:58God. Where are you two weeks?
- 18:01I want God to fix it in two weeks and six months in a year.
- 18:0445 years waiting on God's timing.
- 18:11God gave me a lesson, reminded me of this lesson waiting on
- 18:14him, even last night. and I thought, man, Lord, you know
- 18:20this My wife surgery taking place last night and and I'm
- 18:28calling her up for this surgery and the Lord is this can't be a
- 18:31worse time you know. But as I began to think about is
- 18:35that isn't a like God because last week I was in st.
- 18:39George Utah. At a men's conference is
- 18:41speaking at a church there, Calvary Chapel St.
- 18:44George awesome fellowship. And I could have been in Saint
- 18:48George but I'm here. I happen to be in Denver, I had
- 18:52No idea that I would be in Denver in the Lord would be
- 18:54bringing my wife to Denver for the surgery.
- 18:56Yesterday, I had no idea that God was orchestrating putting
- 18:59this all together and I had planned, you know, months ago to
- 19:03have someone be in my pool bit speaking for me this particular
- 19:06weekend, it's just look at the Lord, just organic that's and I
- 19:10stop complaining. So I going Lord, your timing is
- 19:13perfect. Somebody said he doesn't come
- 19:15when you want him, but he's always right on time.
- 19:18Amen. Thank God for his faithfulness.
- 19:22But I'm one of these people I hate waiting.
- 19:24I don't like waiting you know. And then I heard have I had to
- 19:27learn to wait you know on my wife you know that song we used
- 19:31to sing around Calvary Chapel you know you must wait wait wait
- 19:35on the Lord learn your lessons well and in his timing he will
- 19:40tell you what to do where to go. You know what to say?
- 19:44Well that's tough, I apply to my wife.
- 19:46You must wait, wait, wait on Norma.
- 19:53You must wait, wait wait on our my learn your lessons.
- 19:57Well, in in her timing, she will tell you what to do, where to go
- 20:03and what to say he look, I joke about that, you know, it's not
- 20:08good because I just I'm always anxious and and when she's like
- 20:12taking her time getting ready and I want to get there on time
- 20:14and I'm, you know, just don't we got to get there on time.
- 20:17And so, you know, guys, so those of you who are married, you
- 20:19know, we thought for a while that if you got dressed first
- 20:22Got in the car and blew the horn.
- 20:24She would magically appear in the sea.
- 20:27Just Matt just magical you know and then you know what it is and
- 20:30you women are you don't you don't you know how you are.
- 20:33When you hear us blowing the horn what do you do?
- 20:35You just go a little slower so he can learn his lesson will
- 20:42amen. But did we catch the clue when
- 20:46we're getting those of you who are married?
- 20:48When you standing at the altar waiting for her?
- 20:53Amen. You are waiting then interested
- 20:56somebody should tap you on the shoulder that dude get used to
- 20:59it. You'll be doing it, a rest of
- 21:01your life and we should wait on our wives.
- 21:03They should serve them. Amen.
- 21:06But I don't like, I don't like waiting, but what does the Bible
- 21:09say about waiting Ecclesiastes? 3 311 that he has made
- 21:14everything beautiful in its time.
- 21:18And it's time. God has made everything
- 21:20beautiful in his time and spiritually speaking.
- 21:23When we wait, that's when we actually gained strength, I
- 21:26don't like that, but it's just a spiritual principle and it's
- 21:29true as we wait upon the Lord. We gain strength.
- 21:33Isaiah 40, verse 31, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew
- 21:38their strength. They shall Mount up with wings
- 21:40like eagles, they shall run and not be weary.
- 21:44They shall walk and not fade. Amen, we know that.
- 21:47We quoted all the time but we still grow weary sometimes wanky
- 21:53but there's power to strength and waiting see the devil wants.
- 21:57You anxious, He Wants You Restless, he wants you to give
- 22:00up because when you're anxious in your restless, we make
- 22:03foolish decisions. And we give on phone trusting
- 22:06God and waiting on God. And we started to rely upon
- 22:08ourselves. The devil wants you to be
- 22:11anxious for the Bible says be anxious for nothing.
- 22:13But in all things, pray. God is not in a hurry.
- 22:17Did you know that? God has perfect timing and SO
- 22:22waiting on the Lord. The Caleb.
- 22:24He waited upon the Lord. And notice as he waited upon the
- 22:27Lord, he thrived in the Lord, he did not just survive in the
- 22:31Lord. So important.
- 22:33What did he say? He says right here, he said in
- 22:35verse 13. You know what I've been waiting
- 22:38on the Lord Of This Tall this time he says, but I have much
- 22:41vitamin Vitality in my life as much Vitality is.
- 22:44When I was 40 years old, I'm 85. Now I feel like I'm 40 Now you
- 22:49want to know what he's drinking, right?
- 22:5140 years old. And then he says, I'm ready for
- 22:54not the nursing home. I'm not ready for assisted
- 22:57living. I'm Ready for War on my.
- 22:59Wow, this whole dude, is something else.
- 23:02And some of us feel like man I'm 50 and it's over my best years
- 23:05are behind me no God is still writing your chapter.
- 23:08God is still in control of your life.
- 23:10Amen. Oh give him.
- 23:12Praise and glory. He's not finished with you yet.
- 23:17He's not finished with you yet. He's still writing your story
- 23:21and Caleb said and he knew that God was still writing a story
- 23:25because he continued to believe in God.
- 23:28He said the Lord kept me alive. All these years.
- 23:31I love that. Don't overlook that verse 10.
- 23:33The Lord kept me alive. If God has kept you alive, he
- 23:37has a purpose for your life. I know we sit and complains
- 23:40about know, why am I here? You know, what's my purpose?
- 23:43If you're drawing a breath right now and I know you.
- 23:46Are you watching online, your breathing God has a purpose for
- 23:50your life. He's kept you alive for certain
- 23:53from there's some of us sitting here today and watching online
- 23:55maybe that you know in your own mind you should be dead.
- 23:59But God kept your life and if you kept you alive, he kept your
- 24:02life for his Divine Purpose and his Divine Glory.
- 24:06He still writing your story. Praise His holy name, Caleb,
- 24:11believe that. And God kept Caleb alive for
- 24:15promise. What was the promise?
- 24:18Or attacked in our text. The promise was Hebron a place
- 24:22called heaven. Heaven means in Hebrew, it means
- 24:25Community. It means Alliance.
- 24:29And I thought about that heaven, what metaphorically for the
- 24:31church God has called us to Hebron if you will, God has
- 24:35given us a promise of Hebron within the church.
- 24:37What is that promise? A promise of community and
- 24:40Alliance that is unity. And when the church has devoured
- 24:44itself and there's division in the house of the Lord didn't 41.
- 24:48We are refuting the very prayer request of Jesus.
- 24:53What prayer request was their father, make them one.
- 24:56As we are one that the world may believe that you sent the Sun
- 25:01and when the church is divided in devouring each other, we're
- 25:03not Hebron. It's hell.
- 25:07And it's a poor witness to the Lord.
- 25:12God has called us to have community and have Unity, not
- 25:16just within the church, but also in our marriages, within our
- 25:19families, it's called heaven. So metaphorically you say this,
- 25:24God has called all of us as Believers to live in Heparin and
- 25:28community. In unity.
- 25:35It's as we wait upon him that we find this harmony is as we trust
- 25:39in him that we find Harmony in our relationships rather than
- 25:43putting unrealistic demands upon one another.
- 25:47We're expecting people to live at a standard that we can't live
- 25:50at ourselves. Put the allow the grace of God
- 25:54in us to be administered to other people around us that we
- 25:58might experience Hebron community in unity and Christ.
- 26:04Despite the passage of time. Therefore and his age, Caleb
- 26:10received the promise of God, he received Hebron, he believed
- 26:13God, he was determined to wait on the Lord on God's timing that
- 26:19he might possess all that God had promised.
- 26:25The second evidence that I find in Caleb's life that he wholly
- 26:28followed. The Lord is not just talk but
- 26:30who is a part of his life? And that is he had a heart of
- 26:33devotion. I love what it says in verse 7
- 26:36is Caleb is sharing how he went in spite of the land and it was
- 26:40in his heart. That God had placed within his
- 26:44heart that that they could possess the land.
- 26:46It wasn't just a good idea. It was a god idea.
- 26:49It was an idea of possessing the land, the promised land would 45
- 26:53years before when he spied out the lid, it was in his heart
- 26:56because it was based on the promise of God.
- 27:00In other words, God had given Caleb.
- 27:03His word and Caleb took it to heart.
- 27:06In other words, Caleb was transform.
- 27:12His faith and bold and because of God's word, he believed what
- 27:15God Said. And sometimes we come to church
- 27:17and we had we hear the word of God in our heads, but it's not
- 27:21in a heart. Caleb said, I took it to heart,
- 27:25it was in my heart because God had given me his word.
- 27:30Galatians 6:9 says, and let us not grow weary while doing good
- 27:37for, in due time due season, we shall reap.
- 27:41If we do not lose what heart, it's about the heart, is it not?
- 27:46And God looks at the heart out of the heart.
- 27:50Jesus said, comes the issues of life.
- 27:52If God is concerned about our heart and he wants to know if
- 27:57our heart is completely devoted to him.
- 28:01Caleb Hart was completely devoted to the Lord based on
- 28:04what God has said. He knew he could trust God, if
- 28:08God said we can take the land, man, we're able to take it
- 28:11because the Lord Is With Us, Caleb believed God's word,
- 28:15because he knew God's reputation.
- 28:18He was there when the Red Sea was split and into was divided
- 28:22and the children of Israel walked across on dry land and
- 28:25the Sea came in, on Pharaoh's, Army and drown Pharaohs Army.
- 28:29He was there in the wilderness when he saw water coming out of
- 28:32a rock, you know, to quench The Thirst of the Israelites he was
- 28:37there. When Manna fell from heaven.
- 28:39That God fittest people. He saw the pillar of cloud by
- 28:42day that led them in a pillar of Fire by night.
- 28:45That led them. He was there when the Jordan
- 28:47River It was parted and they crossed over on dry land.
- 28:51He was there, when the walls of Jericho fell down, he knew God's
- 28:54reputation. He knew that his God could be
- 28:57trusted. Amen.
- 28:59And what a great lesson for us all, give him praise and glory.
- 29:02Amen. It's okay, it's a great reminder
- 29:06for us because some of you are sitting here right now, and
- 29:09you're doubting God to Downing God, I dare you to look back on
- 29:12his reputation in your life. You would not be here, but for
- 29:16the grace of God, It's his faithfulness in your life and
- 29:20Paul said, even when we are faithless, here's a faithful
- 29:22saying, even when we are faithless, he remains faithful
- 29:25for, he cannot deny himself. Amen.
- 29:31And so Caleb understood. Oh, it's in my heart.
- 29:34God is faithful. I've seen God do all these
- 29:35things. God, did not bring me this far
- 29:38to let me down now. God has I brought you this far
- 29:42to abandon you now. He is a God.
- 29:45Who is faithful even when we have been faithless?
- 29:49He remains faithful, aren't you glad about it?
- 29:52So the next time the enemy comes in and starts casting doubt on
- 29:56God's word This Promise in your life you said well y'all hold
- 29:59on. Amen.
- 30:01Just back up chump. Amen.
- 30:04Because let me tell you about my gosh reputation.
- 30:07He's been this faithful to me now.
- 30:09And brought me this far. He's not going to let me down
- 30:12now. He's not going to abandon me
- 30:14now. That's all I from the pit of
- 30:17Hell. He says that I'm with you and I
- 30:19will never leave you and I will never forsake.
- 30:22You, that's the promise of God. And I'm here to testify that the
- 30:26promise is true. Amen.
- 30:27Give him praise and glory. He deserves it?
- 30:29Thank God. God.
- 30:33Caleb was devoted to the Lord. I love what it says in Hebrews
- 30:3710:23. Let us hold fast.
- 30:41The confession of Our Hope, without wavering for he, who
- 30:45promised is faithful. That's the reputation of our
- 30:49God. That's the reputation of the god
- 30:52of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that sort of reputation of our
- 30:55god of our Saviour, he who promised is faithful.
- 31:01And So based on God's Reputation.
- 31:04Caleb holy was wholly devoted. To the Lord, the third evidence
- 31:12that I want to share with you that is evidence of Caleb, be
- 31:15wholly following the Lord has to do with the fact that there was
- 31:19personal resolved in Caleb's life, personal resolve I call
- 31:24it. And I see that here in verse 12,
- 31:27we read along with me here in Joshua 14, it says verse 12.
- 31:31Now, therefore Caleb said, give me this mountain of which the
- 31:37Lord spoke in that day for you. Heard in that day how the anakim
- 31:42were there and that the cities were great and fortify it, may
- 31:48be that the Lord will be with me and I shall be able to drive
- 31:53them out. As the Lord said, I'm able to
- 31:57dry them out as the Lord said as the Lord promised.
- 32:00Amen. He had personal resolved.
- 32:05He said, why do you say personal resolve?
- 32:07Because Caleb's Mountain was not an easy Mountain.
- 32:11He said the a nekima there who are the anakim?
- 32:14They were giants. Goliath was the descended of
- 32:19anak of the Ana King they were giants.
- 32:23Stout men big men as the other ten spies said we were like
- 32:28grasshoppers on their site. And then he said they were down
- 32:32on the Giants on my Mountain, but they're also fortified
- 32:37places on my Mountain, the atoll and the spiritually speaking.
- 32:41It represents the things that we face in our own lives.
- 32:45You have faced Giants on your Mountain as a lot of Believers
- 32:49is that they want to follow the Lord but when they encounter a
- 32:51giant they want to go the other way.
- 32:54A lot of Blues. I want to follow the Lord but
- 32:55wouldn't hit that fortified place with a double says your
- 32:58mama was this way. Your daddy was his way you're
- 33:00going to be this way. You'll You never overcome this
- 33:02in your life. That's what the enemy is
- 33:04selling, is a fortified place. It's in your DNA.
- 33:07You just you're hopeless. That's a lie because we can do
- 33:11all things through Christ. Who strengthens us.
- 33:14Amen. But it's a fortified place that
- 33:17obstacle. I just can't quit.
- 33:19I just can't stop doing it as a fortified place.
- 33:22But you Caleb said with the Lord's help, I'm able to try the
- 33:26amount because God is there with me and God is my strength.
- 33:33He had personal resolve to trust in the Lord despite the Giants.
- 33:40In the Fortified places that he would face again, the mountain,
- 33:44kinda is a metaphor for our life.
- 33:47Our lot in life, you could say or where God has us in our life.
- 33:51Some of you seen your, your family, your family is that
- 33:54mountain or what have you or your own personal life or
- 33:55challenges or whatever it is. You can apply it to anything but
- 33:59it's your mountain. In other words, it's your
- 34:02situation. We always want to be on somebody
- 34:04else's Mountain knowing Look at it.
- 34:07I want to have a look like that person.
- 34:09I'm gonna look like that person. I want that mountain.
- 34:11That looks like Maui. Amen.
- 34:15It's got the waterfalls and it's got the lush green, you know,
- 34:18vegetation and all that all and it's always warm and is always
- 34:22nice and and it's just their own is a little Beach Little Beach
- 34:25to don't forget that and you go down there.
- 34:26Any dip in the water and you come back.
- 34:28Oh, I want Batman. Give me Lord, give me that
- 34:30mount. I want her Mountain.
- 34:32I want his Mountain, always one with someone else has but God is
- 34:36giving you You your mouth? But you got some challenges on
- 34:39your Mountain, don't you? Caleb has some challenges on
- 34:42this mountain but he it didn't deter him.
- 34:46He continued to say, give me this one.
- 34:48God promise me this, I don't care what opposition the devil
- 34:51brings up. God gave me a promise and God's
- 34:54promise is always greater than the devil's resistance.
- 35:00Give me my mountain. You are who you are.
- 35:06You may not like your Mountain. When you're mounting you, maybe
- 35:09wish you had more hair, Amen, on your Mountain, you may be
- 35:14wishing, you had a truer waster or whatever it might be.
- 35:18Well, I always want to be something else but you are
- 35:20uniquely created in the sight of God.
- 35:24You are uniquely who you are. It is only through who you are.
- 35:28The God can magnify his life in a certain manner.
- 35:31He can only do it through you. So be who you are, it's your
- 35:35Mountain, embrace, your Mountain.
- 35:37Your lot in life and say, God your promises, you've given me
- 35:41your promises. Give me my Mountain, give me
- 35:44victory over whatever I might be facing Don't turn and run the
- 35:50other direction. God wants you to have victory
- 35:53over here. Giants victory over the
- 35:55Fortified places in your life. Caleb believe that Caleb was
- 36:01determined. He had resolved to say, give me
- 36:06my mouth and I think it's sometimes we as Believers we
- 36:10don't have resolved because we're not looking for resolved,
- 36:15we don't have spiritual resolve but we think that Christianity
- 36:18is somehow about Recreation the sun.
- 36:20Nothing wrong with Recreation, nothing wrong with enjoying life
- 36:23and all. Yeah, I'm not talking about that
- 36:25but sometimes we just think that it should all be the mountain of
- 36:29Maui. It should all be easy.
- 36:31It should all be just just smooth all the time.
- 36:34I'm but his old song of my mama used to say old folks, saying
- 36:39back in the day, I'm Going Up On The Rough Side of the Mountain.
- 36:45If the mountain wasn't rough, you couldn't climb it.
- 36:49You can get closer to the Lord. You began to thank God, as I
- 36:53look back on my life for the Rough Side, because the Rough
- 36:57Side makes you who you are. Today.
- 36:59The Rough Side enables you to embrace the promises of God, The
- 37:04Rough Side you can even my wife and I walk it through this right
- 37:07now. It brings you place.
- 37:09It almost forces you to believe God's word when you've got
- 37:12nothing else. But God, you're hanging on the
- 37:14God, with all you've gone. I'm going up, I'm not going back
- 37:18on the Rough Side of the Mountain because you can't, you
- 37:22can't climb glass, amen. But you can climb on the Rough
- 37:27Side. So you may be going through a
- 37:28rough path. God has made it that way that
- 37:30you might draw closer to him, but as your Mountain, But you
- 37:34need holy resolve Romans 8:31 says What then shall we say to
- 37:40these things? What things.
- 37:41Whatever. Thang you might be dealing with
- 37:43right now. Amen.
- 37:46Whatever saying, you may be going through right now.
- 37:48What do you say to these things? If God, whoo, I love that if God
- 37:54is for us, who can be against us?
- 37:59Name me somebody in other words, Paul is saying name me somebody
- 38:04who can be against us. No weapon formed against us.
- 38:08Isaiah says will prosper and every voice said, raises up
- 38:12against you speaks out against you.
- 38:14God will condemn it. That's the heritage of the
- 38:18saints of God. Aren't you?
- 38:20Glad about that? Praise His holy name.
- 38:24God has for you, he's not against you.
- 38:26And if God is for you, no one can be against you and God will
- 38:30make sure as you are climbing your Mountain but he's not going
- 38:35to ask you about your wife's a mountain.
- 38:37Hey, how's Norman climbing? I don't know.
- 38:40She's a little lazy. What are you know is that?
- 38:42No he's not going to ask normal house.
- 38:44House thousand mountain climbing going on?
- 38:46Well I don't know he's you know he's sitting down on the job.
- 38:49What he needs to do more. We were you know he's not going
- 38:52to ask you about someone else's Mountain.
- 38:53Not the person sitting next to you, he's going to ask you how
- 38:56you climb in your mouth. How are you climbing your
- 39:00Mountain? Here's what the Bible says.
- 39:02I love this in Psalm 81 verse 10 says, I am the Lord your God who
- 39:07brought you out of the land of Egypt, open your mouth wide and
- 39:13I will fill it. I think sometimes we come to
- 39:19church and as a pastor, something to look out at people
- 39:22and almost see people doing this, you know, like you're
- 39:24trying to feed a child and they don't want to eat the food.
- 39:27I see people spiritually doing this.
- 39:29Mmm-hmm, you're trying to get the food in the child's, not
- 39:37mmmm. And I believe some of the Holy
- 39:39Spirit. Trying to minister something to
- 39:40somebody. Mmm-hmm it can't happen for me.
- 39:45It's not possible for me. I've given up online.
- 39:49God, you let me down. You're done with me.
- 39:52You've given up on me, Lord. And God is ministering to you
- 39:56his word and your mmmm. No, open your mouth wide.
- 40:02Open him out. What?
- 40:03Dare to trust God, dare to open your mouth and say God, feel me.
- 40:11Feel me. Amen.
- 40:13Open your mouth wide and he will fill it.
- 40:17He will fill your heart, he will fill your life with joy with
- 40:22peace. He's not given us a spirit of
- 40:25fear, but the Bible says that of power and of love and a sound
- 40:30mind. But you got open your mouth why
- 40:34and you can't just purse your mouth.
- 40:35You can't just, you know, over there.
- 40:38Ah open it. Why?
- 40:41What is open and why me Faith, I believe that God will fill it.
- 40:47Amen. God wants you to be full.
- 40:53To be filled with his promises filled with his goodness, in
- 40:57conclusion with a heart. Holy hilted to the Lord like
- 41:02that of Caleb. Heart resting in God's timing.
- 41:09Heart devoted to the Lord heart. That is resolute.
- 41:20That's continues to trust him. Believe God.
- 41:25You yourself in your own life will possess your Mountain.
- 41:30You'll be able to possess all that God has ordained for you.
- 41:35Psalm 84 verse 11 and 12 says that.
- 41:38No good thing, no good thing. There's a lot of things that I
- 41:42want but God knows the good things and the bad things, he
- 41:45knows what's best for me and he says, no good thing.
- 41:48Will he withhold from those who walk uprightly?
- 41:53Oh, lord of hosts blessed is the man or the woman.
- 41:57Who trust in you? Trust in the Lord, with all your
- 42:03heart scripture, says lean not unto your own understanding, in
- 42:06all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct you, your
- 42:09path on your Mountain. Align yourself with this
- 42:17pleasure, my friend, and you will find your purpose.
- 42:23God will show you and direct you and he will add to your life.
- 42:27The things that he has promised to you.
- 42:30Jesus said it. Well, seek first, the kingdom of
- 42:33God, and his righteousness, and all these other things will be
- 42:37added to you. But seek God first, God will
- 42:42lead you. God will grant you your
- 42:45Mountain. His promises.
- 42:50Maybe somebody here today that you do not know Jesus Christ as
- 42:53your lord and savior, you've come to church, but you don't
- 42:56know for certain if you were to die today, that you go to
- 42:58heaven, I want to know the Bible says that these things are
- 43:02written, the word of God is written that you might know that
- 43:05you have everlasting life. You could Amos Lee, go through
- 43:09this life trying to conquer your own mountain and through success
- 43:13and riches and all these things. But Jesus said, what does it
- 43:16profit a man? The gain the whole world and
- 43:19lose his soul or what could a man give in exchange for sold
- 43:23answers nothing. The only way that we can truly
- 43:28experience Abundant Life in him. Experience our pleasure or our
- 43:33purpose is through pleasing God because you were created to know
- 43:38him. Jesus is the only path that
- 43:44leads to True Life. You say, well Pastor, I want to
- 43:49know that path. I've been trying to climb this
- 43:51mountain. I've been trying to manipulate
- 43:53folks, and do all these things and trying to get ahead and all
- 43:57this in My Own Strength. But I don't have that assurance
- 44:01that, that I'm, that I am on my way to heaven.
- 44:05I do my don't know where my path is leading me today.
- 44:07You can know by surrendering your life to Christ.
- 44:10You can borrow Your head right now.
- 44:12Where you're seated right now? And it from your heart because
- 44:15God's look into your heart and repeat this prayer after me,
- 44:19open your heart to God. So that you can know his purpose
- 44:23for your life, and you can know that your sins are forgiven and
- 44:26that you're on your way to heaven.
- 44:28By simply praying this prayer. Say Lord Jesus right there,
- 44:32where you're seated. Lord Jesus, I believe you are
- 44:35the son of God. I believe you died for my sins
- 44:39and I believe you are risen from the dead.
- 44:44Forgive me. Come into my life.
- 44:48I receive you this day as my Lord and as my savior.
- 44:54In Jesus name. Amen.
- 44:57We pray that you've been encouraged by this Bible.
