Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, are right comment Oio Life from Philly. It's
- 0:09Speaker 1: the number one rated poly Toni foursco show. As always,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Polly Fools go here with Tony Fools go with Tony
- 0:18Speaker 1: Huge out today and let's go. We're gonna tell you
- 0:21Speaker 1: why people are unfairly blaming Daniel Jones for the fact
- 0:25Speaker 1: that he sucks at football, and to discuss the continued
- 0:29Speaker 1: fall of the historically crappy dog vomit New York Giants.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We're bringing on a former Giant to just see how
- 0:36Speaker 1: embarrassed he is by his terrible format. D Gerard Bunch
- 0:40Speaker 1: will be joining us. And also we're gonna do a
- 0:43Speaker 1: very touching and frankly unique tribute to two Philly legends
- 0:48Speaker 1: who we unfortunately lost this week, the GMBE mcdumbo and
- 0:52Speaker 1: Pete Rose.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Grab your tissues, Angel cleanexes. Yeah. But first, some show
- 0:59Speaker 1: business we must talk about, as you know with bokners
- 1:02Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio and Doyle. We just received the iHeart quarterly
- 1:07Speaker 1: financial report, which shows podcast revenue is up eight percent. Tony,
- 1:13Speaker 1: have you received the thank you? Nothing? Not even an
- 1:17Speaker 1: email or a fruit basket me neither. It's ridiculous, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 1: because you're looking our numbers downloads through the roof and
- 1:24Speaker 1: our socials. You know, people are Instagram, which you should
- 1:27Speaker 1: be following unless you want to be dumb and useless.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We got one clip this week had a total watch
- 1:32Speaker 1: time of get this people sixty five days, I mean, Tony,
- 1:36Speaker 1: sixty five days.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Just to put this in perspective, Gone with the Wind
- 1:41Speaker 3: was only four hours.
- 1:43Speaker 1: That's pathetic watch time. Yep.
- 1:45Speaker 3: These movie studios waste so much time making movies with
- 1:48Speaker 3: all these different scenes when clearly all they need to
- 1:51Speaker 3: do is to show the same twenty seven.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Second clip over and over. People will sit through those
- 1:57Speaker 1: for days. We proved it. You know, we're changing the
- 2:01Speaker 1: business total exactly. Well, now it's time to get into
- 2:04Speaker 1: other business with that top story story first out Mcgate.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You know, the Giants just an absolute chaos, hitting a
- 2:13Speaker 1: new low, losing to the Cowboys, which is the ultimate low. Now,
- 2:16Speaker 1: you know, many people who don't know football, they're blaming
- 2:19Speaker 1: Daniel Jones because he hasn't thrown a touchdown at home
- 2:23Speaker 1: in over two years, six hundred and forty days. But
- 2:27Speaker 1: Giants fans, they're just blaming the wrong person here, Tony,
- 2:29Speaker 1: aren't they Yeah, they should be blaming themselves. Yep.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Did anyone consider that these rude giants fans are clearly
- 2:36Speaker 3: creating a hostile work environment for Daniel Jones.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Frankly, I think all fans need to be supportive of quarterbacks,
- 2:45Speaker 3: no matter how many times they throw interceptions or fumble
- 2:48Speaker 3: the ball, unless it's in the Super Bowl.
- 2:50Speaker 1: You know, maybe Dan, you can threaten to kill them.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Words of wisdom, Tony, And you know you gotta feel
- 2:56Speaker 1: bad for Daniel Jones, don't you, Because you know many
- 2:58Speaker 1: people they're calling him, you know, the crappiest, most untalented
- 3:01Speaker 1: quarterback whoever lived. And while that is true, it doesn't
- 3:05Speaker 1: tell the whole story, does it.
- 3:06Speaker 4: No.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It all depends on how you look at Daniel Jones.
- 3:10Speaker 3: If you see him as a quarterback, then yes, he's
- 3:13Speaker 3: a talentless waste of space yep. But if you view
- 3:17Speaker 3: him as a general manager, then he's a genius.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yep.
- 3:21Speaker 3: He's making all the right moves to secure the highest
- 3:25Speaker 3: draft picks possible. When you see it that way, Daniel
- 3:29Speaker 3: Jones is one of the great football minds of our time.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Terrific analysis Tony and talked about being unfairly attacked. Let's
- 3:37Speaker 1: move to the Eagles or being criticized by idiots saying
- 3:41Speaker 1: that their two and two start shows that the team
- 3:44Speaker 1: is not a contendo. Please, but these morons, they just
- 3:47Speaker 1: don't see the whole picture, do they, Tony. Look at
- 3:49Speaker 1: the Eagles schedule so far.
- 3:51Speaker 3: The NFL forced the team to play their first four
- 3:54Speaker 3: games against teams that have a combined ten Super Bowls.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yup, Green Bay four, Tampa's.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Won two, New Orleans has won one in Atlanta, they've
- 4:06Speaker 3: hosted three, you know. In fact, come to think of it,
- 4:09Speaker 3: New Orleans has also hosted a bunch of Super Bowls,
- 4:12Speaker 3: and so is Tampa. So really it's more like thirty
- 4:16Speaker 3: or thirty five Super Bowls. That's just a totally unfair
- 4:19Speaker 3: way to have to start the season.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Great perspective and insight that, Tony. And you know another thing,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you've seen this play on Monday Night that the Lions
- 4:29Speaker 1: ran against the Seahawks where Golf caught the touchdown looked oddly,
- 4:34Speaker 1: oddly like the Philly special that falls caught in the
- 4:37Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Well, Detroit's coming out and saying that play
- 4:40Speaker 1: is called Alcatraz and they've been practicing it for years. Tony,
- 4:45Speaker 1: what you think about this. What do I think one
- 4:48Speaker 1: word copyright infringement? Y'all.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Clearly they named the play Alcatraz because they knew they
- 4:55Speaker 3: should be put in prison for stealing it. My only
- 4:58Speaker 3: hope is that Dan Campbell, Jared Goff and the whole
- 5:02Speaker 3: Lions offense are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,
- 5:06Speaker 3: preferably before this year's NFC Championship game.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Terrific legal analysis that Dony and well. Now moving to
- 5:14Speaker 1: the Cowboys. You know, after beating the Giants on Thursday night,
- 5:18Speaker 1: Dak Prescott sent a very strange message to his team.
- 5:22Speaker 1: He said he doesn't want the team getting carried away
- 5:25Speaker 1: with the win and said, quote, hopefully the guys don't
- 5:28Speaker 1: listen to anything being written now, good or bad. And
- 5:32Speaker 1: this is just very questionable leadership, isn't it, Dony? So weird?
- 5:37Speaker 3: What if a Cowboys player gets a letter from their
- 5:40Speaker 3: grandmother saying I'm not feeling well.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Are they not supposed to read it exactly?
- 5:45Speaker 3: What if their wife or girlfriend sends them a text
- 5:48Speaker 3: saying I have a flat tire.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm on the highway, please help. Yeah, what are they
- 5:53Speaker 1: supposed to do? Not coming fine? We're talking about not
- 5:57Speaker 1: supposed to do. What do you do when talking?
- 6:00Speaker 4: He clearly meant, don't read things about the team.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Look at that hat he's wearing, Tony, Yeah, what is this?
- 6:06Speaker 1: Explains why he's wearing a hat with.
- 6:07Speaker 5: A D on it.
- 6:08Speaker 1: He's a Cowboys fan.
- 6:10Speaker 4: It doesn't stand for Dallas.
- 6:12Speaker 1: What does his stand for domb?
- 6:15Speaker 4: No, it's Dorchester. It's a brewery in Boston.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Oh so you're a Boston fan.
- 6:20Speaker 5: Do oh?
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that means the D stands for douchebag. Oh no,
- 6:26Speaker 1: shut and by the way, stop doing free ads for
- 6:29Speaker 1: other companies. Okay, they got to pay to be in
- 6:31Speaker 1: this show. Just go ahead and send them an invoice.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Send them an invoice for the go ahead anyway, and
- 6:37Speaker 1: just now stop talking, because we're about to do something
- 6:41Speaker 1: very important and also moving.
- 6:43Speaker 4: You know.
- 6:43Speaker 1: First we want to tell you that on Monday, as
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know, we received the news that six is a legend,
- 6:49Speaker 1: the Kembe mcdumbo had passed away. So we began planning
- 6:53Speaker 1: a very special tribute that we were going to do
- 6:55Speaker 1: at this point in the show. But as you know,
- 6:58Speaker 1: later that day we received word that Pete Rose died
- 7:03Speaker 1: and will rudal. Unfortunately, between all our sponsor obligations. We
- 7:07Speaker 1: just don't have extra time in the show to memorialize
- 7:10Speaker 1: both of them. But you know that's okay, because what
- 7:13Speaker 1: we've decided to do is we're just going to simply
- 7:16Speaker 1: combine the memorials into one. Just the best thing to do,
- 7:19Speaker 1: just to touching. Go ahead, put on that yes sad
- 7:21Speaker 1: touching music and you know, Tony, I'll let you start here,
- 7:25Speaker 1: go ahead, thank you.
- 7:27Speaker 3: You know, so much could be said about both of
- 7:30Speaker 3: them simultaneously. You're both great athletes, you know, both really
- 7:35Speaker 3: great at making contact with a ball. You know, one
- 7:39Speaker 3: used a bat and the other use the hand. And
- 7:43Speaker 3: well one was named Rose while the other rose high
- 7:48Speaker 3: seven feet tall, and well also Pete Rose.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Were the number fourteen. And as we all know, if
- 7:57Speaker 1: you put one plus four you get five.
- 8:01Speaker 3: And when you put five and five together, what do
- 8:04Speaker 3: you get to Kemba Matumbo's number.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And so there you go. That was very beautiful, but
- 8:12Speaker 1: unfortunately we're up against time and we have to get
- 8:15Speaker 1: our sponsorship obligation. We do, you know, gotta pay the
- 8:18Speaker 1: bills and do this ad from our sponsors at Lionsgate Films.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And then the movie Megalopolis now in theaters. Tony, you
- 8:26Speaker 1: were paid handsomely to give your review. Tell us what
- 8:29Speaker 1: your thought of the film. Oh, I loved Megalopolis.
- 8:33Speaker 3: As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of
- 8:36Speaker 3: Superman movies, and while it was just so great to
- 8:39Speaker 3: see a movie about the city where he grew up,
- 8:42Speaker 3: I loved getting the sea Way.
- 8:44Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 8:46Speaker 5: What?
- 8:47Speaker 4: That's Metropolis? This is Megalopolis. It's a totally different movie.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Did you even bother watching the screener they sent?
- 8:56Speaker 1: I thought that was one of those AOL free trial things,
- 8:58Speaker 1: so I threw it out. Yeah. The only thing we
- 9:00Speaker 1: should be throwing out is you. Yeah, at his studio,
- 9:03Speaker 1: now shut up? Yeah five, pay attention. There's a phone
- 9:07Speaker 1: lighting up there anyway. Yeah, I see. I guess he's
- 9:10Speaker 1: coming on the line. So let's just go ahead and
- 9:12Speaker 1: bring him on the Fusco Satellite network.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Fusco Satellite The.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Work must be very tough for this man right now.
- 9:20Speaker 1: He played running back for the New York Giants in
- 9:23Speaker 1: the early nineties, you know, back when that was actually
- 9:25Speaker 1: something to be proud of. But now his former team
- 9:29Speaker 1: is an absolute pile of trash, making everyone forget that
- 9:32Speaker 1: this organization was ever even decent and we're going to
- 9:36Speaker 1: get into all that more about him. After retiring, this
- 9:39Speaker 1: is good. He started a successful acting and producing career
- 9:42Speaker 1: with several impressive credits, including appearing in Two for the
- 9:45Speaker 1: Money Without Pacino and Matthew mccontaey, which you know should
- 9:49Speaker 1: have won Best Picture anyway. All right, let's just bring
- 9:54Speaker 1: him in. Gerard Bunch, welcome to the show.
- 9:58Speaker 5: All right. So first off, it's not your fault because
- 10:03Speaker 5: it's for years with that.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But it's Jerry No, no, no, it's spelled Jared, and
- 10:12Speaker 2: you are not the first person to say that.
- 10:14Speaker 1: And that is for R R O D okay? Was
- 10:20Speaker 1: this you change it because as a subway guy, you
- 10:22Speaker 1: just didn't want anyone thinking you were the subway guy
- 10:24Speaker 1: trying to be Hollywood. You change, you know, different spelling.
- 10:29Speaker 2: No, I'll tell you how it happened. In college, Bo
- 10:33Speaker 2: schim Beckler never pronounced my name correctly, and starting from
- 10:39Speaker 2: there all the way going into the into the league,
- 10:43Speaker 2: he stopped correcting people.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Is that why Bo only had a two letter first
- 10:49Speaker 1: name because he just didn't pronounce names and he was
- 10:52Speaker 1: just like Bo is all like a Nintendo exactly.
- 10:56Speaker 5: I don't know, but he had a pretty good coaching career.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that actually brings us to our first question
- 11:02Speaker 1: for you. Terrific that way. Yeah, you're clearly a media person.
- 11:05Speaker 1: You know, we want to know, with the Giants being
- 11:07Speaker 1: so bad, when people ask you which team you played for,
- 11:10Speaker 1: do you actually just say University of Michigan and hope
- 11:13Speaker 1: that they don't figure out you ever played for the Giants.
- 11:16Speaker 5: No, it's it's funny. It's funny as you say that.
- 11:18Speaker 2: But that's the first thing that comes to my mind
- 11:21Speaker 2: is I'm from University of Michigan, but it's always University
- 11:25Speaker 2: of Michigan.
- 11:25Speaker 5: And I was a first round draft pick.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That's that's I don't say why just first round draft pick.
- 11:30Speaker 5: Hey, it depends on what year it is.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I mean sometimes the Giants always pop up and go
- 11:35Speaker 2: to the you know, and win a Super Bowl every
- 11:37Speaker 2: once in a while, and when it works out, I'm
- 11:41Speaker 2: a Giant, I'm a former Giant exactly.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Well it doesn't work out, I'm a Raider.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Now, you just don't even say you played in the
- 11:49Speaker 1: NFL at all.
- 11:50Speaker 5: I guess Wolverine that was somehow that question always.
- 11:55Speaker 1: All right, But you know, I know this is clearly
- 11:57Speaker 1: a so subject for you, But we do have to
- 11:59Speaker 1: ask about the so guy. You know, Daniel Jones hasn't
- 12:02Speaker 1: thrown a touchdown at home in six hundred and forty days.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Do you think this is because New York Giants fans
- 12:08Speaker 1: are the rudest, worst fans in all of sports and
- 12:10Speaker 1: don't know how to properly support a QB.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I would put that with the Eagles fans. Oh, what
- 12:22Speaker 2: do you say, Well, they're rough. It is a different
- 12:26Speaker 2: it's a different category. The Giants fans are very rough,
- 12:29Speaker 2: but when you're winning, they're right with you. If you're losing,
- 12:33Speaker 2: they are not the type.
- 12:34Speaker 5: To sugar peah.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So that's most of the time. By the way, are
- 12:37Speaker 1: you upset at Eagles fans because we all called you
- 12:40Speaker 1: girard when you came to down that Yeah?
- 12:44Speaker 5: No, because you're the Eagle fans were not the only
- 12:46Speaker 5: ones that call me girard. Everybody called me Gerard. That's it.
- 12:50Speaker 2: So Eagle fans, no problem except the you know when
- 12:53Speaker 2: we played, when I played, and I played in the
- 12:56Speaker 2: old stadium, it was the clearly the word field that.
- 13:01Speaker 6: You could play on the period periods and uh put
- 13:08Speaker 6: that with the fans. The fans were the I don't
- 13:12Speaker 6: want to say the rudest.
- 13:14Speaker 5: They were the most rugged fans that were for their teams.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Well, tell us about an interaction you had with an
- 13:22Speaker 1: Eagles fand did they try it? You know what happened?
- 13:24Speaker 5: Imagine it? Imagine it and it happened.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I mean they threw human that happened.
- 13:33Speaker 5: I said, imagine it was that was real?
- 13:38Speaker 1: That what you like, I imagine like what I throw
- 13:41Speaker 1: a unicorn at you?
- 13:42Speaker 4: Like?
- 13:42Speaker 1: What do you mean to imagine?
- 13:44Speaker 5: It was a problem. It was a problem if you
- 13:47Speaker 5: were not an Eagle. It was a problem.
- 13:49Speaker 2: And to put on top of that, when I was
- 13:51Speaker 2: playing you guys had red red Reggie White.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I'll tell you one somebody asked me, how, who was
- 13:57Speaker 5: the hardest hit I received?
- 13:59Speaker 2: Reggie White one time hit me with one hand while
- 14:04Speaker 2: being blocked by another guy, and it was like, lord, hey,
- 14:10Speaker 2: it was so hard. But the front seven was the
- 14:17Speaker 2: absolute best that I ever played against, and we just
- 14:22Speaker 2: every time we I don't think we ever beat them.
- 14:25Speaker 1: In fact, do you know what your record was against
- 14:29Speaker 1: the Eagles during your career.
- 14:32Speaker 5: I don't think that we ever ever beat them.
- 14:35Speaker 1: You know, maybe that hit by from Reggie white, maybe
- 14:37Speaker 1: the rules. But you know, the correct answer, which we'll
- 14:42Speaker 1: be happy to tell you, is one in four. You
- 14:45Speaker 1: are one, and I don't know why you don't remember
- 14:48Speaker 1: that one win. Maybe maybe there's an error in the
- 14:51Speaker 1: stack book, because oh and five sounds more realist. That
- 14:54Speaker 1: does sound more correct. I know what?
- 14:58Speaker 5: Tell me what game was it that we be cheated?
- 15:00Speaker 1: We're not gonna focus I have them. Actually, we don't
- 15:03Speaker 1: have researchers on the show. We just do it all
- 15:05Speaker 1: from memory. But I'm pretty sure its advice. I did
- 15:09Speaker 1: block a pun against nobody can nobody can? We don't
- 15:12Speaker 1: remember that.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a highlight for my field.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but you're a running back, so it doesn't
- 15:18Speaker 1: go on the resume.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Sorry, But sticking with those early Giants, we do want
- 15:22Speaker 3: to ask you. You know you left the Giants in
- 15:25Speaker 3: nineteen ninety three, the same year Lawrence Taylor retired.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Did you choose to leave that year.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Because you thought, oh, with Lawrence Taylor gone, there would
- 15:36Speaker 3: be no more you know, drug fueled sex, sorgies?
- 15:42Speaker 1: Great question?
- 15:43Speaker 5: No, no, now, listen, Okay, let's get this through right.
- 15:46Speaker 5: I played that year and the year his last year
- 15:50Speaker 5: was my last year.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Jans.
- 15:52Speaker 3: All right, so.
- 15:56Speaker 5: We had very nice orgize parties.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Oh, like they put the cocaine lines in order? Is
- 16:05Speaker 1: that what you're saying? Like straight lines?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:07Speaker 5: Never, I have never seen cocaine in my life in
- 16:11Speaker 5: real life.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Oh it must be. Yeah, we already know. Maybe it's
- 16:17Speaker 1: within the memory with the other wind that never happened. Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's right. Reggie White erase that.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Oh okay, yeah, why are you guys talking about real life?
- 16:26Speaker 2: You're talking about any given Sunday, because I then give
- 16:28Speaker 2: me Sunday with different than No, okay, okay.
- 16:30Speaker 1: All right, what do you think is worse a P
- 16:32Speaker 1: Diddy party or a Lord's dale a party? Which one?
- 16:35Speaker 5: I've never been to a P d party.
- 16:37Speaker 1: No, that's smart by you. This is smart se he
- 16:40Speaker 1: knows this is all being recorded. This is basically like
- 16:43Speaker 1: an FBI in derogation. You're watching, you know, Reggie White
- 16:47Speaker 1: at me, you know what, Actually, let's let's talk about
- 16:49Speaker 1: Derek hen because you know we looked this up, right,
- 16:52Speaker 1: you and Derrick Henry had basically the same body type, right,
- 16:57Speaker 1: six to three two fifty right, But you know, don't
- 17:01Speaker 1: you think it's a little unfair that you both got
- 17:04Speaker 1: to play running back. Yes, I mean you look, you'll
- 17:08Speaker 1: look like an offensive lineman. So don't you think maybe
- 17:11Speaker 1: the defense was afraid to tackle. You're confused. They didn't
- 17:14Speaker 1: want to get you know, charged with holding.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Yes to all your questions. Yes, but I played full back.
- 17:22Speaker 5: He's a running back. He's a tailback.
- 17:25Speaker 4: You know.
- 17:25Speaker 5: He didn't line up the block. Most of the time.
- 17:26Speaker 5: He lines up to get the ball and go.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I got the ball sometimes and did well when I
- 17:32Speaker 2: had it, but most of the time I had another
- 17:34Speaker 2: back behind me.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, So why didn't they make Rodney Hampton the full
- 17:38Speaker 3: back and you the tailback?
- 17:41Speaker 5: Right man? I asked the same question. That's one of
- 17:43Speaker 5: the reasons why I was ready. I was ready to
- 17:45Speaker 5: get out of there.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Can I ask you a question, have you
- 17:49Speaker 1: considered this? You know, maybe your coach said Rod, go
- 17:52Speaker 1: stand back there, and they were talking to you thinking
- 17:56Speaker 1: you were Jair Rod, but they then Rodney Hampton goes back.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Great connective tissue there. That sounds more sounds. I think
- 18:04Speaker 1: if you were just gone by Girard, you would have
- 18:07Speaker 1: been standing back there. But you were like, no, I'm Jared,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and you ruined your career. Giants ruining football careers left
- 18:15Speaker 1: and right. Daniel Jones, you should do a class You

- 18:29Speaker 4: We do.

- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah he sucks. Yeah. Can you look at the camera
- 18:50Speaker 1: and just say, take it from me, someone who's seen
- 18:53Speaker 1: a bunch of your commanders all your games, give up
- 18:56Speaker 1: hope now because this is going to end boorly, hold on,

- 19:19Speaker 1: giant waisted tie. That's what you are. Because you're a
- 19:22Speaker 1: show show. Sounds like a commander saying maybe you should
- 19:27Speaker 1: go please for them. Bunch of wasted time. It's the
- 19:32Speaker 1: off the line, Jay, hang up, that's why you can't
- 19:35Speaker 1: have giants on the show. Just said, poor performance as expected. Yeah,

- 19:44Speaker 1: don't and in a good one and let's not let
- 19:46Speaker 1: him ruin, which was a terrific show all around. Because
