- 2:30Speaker 3: with the opening of the South Charleston Farmers Market. As
- 2:32Speaker 3: Shawn Azuniga is here from the city of South Charleston,
- 2:35Speaker 3: talk about it. Welcome to the show, sir.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Thanks for having me today, happy to be here.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Out of lower your mica
- 2:40Speaker 3: a little bit, man, you let that big booming voice,
- 2:43Speaker 3: so tell us about the farmers market.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 7: So this has been something that's been in the works
- 2:47Speaker 7: for a couple of years now and we're just finally
- 2:50Speaker 7: trying to getting it over the finish line. So we
- 2:53Speaker 7: will upen Mother's Day weekend, which is this Saturday, May tenth.
- 2:57Speaker 7: Ribbon Cunning at eight thirty pm have Gritz Farm, Gris Midway, Greenhouse,
- 3:03Speaker 7: d Nas Farms, Still Blooming, Honeydew Produce, Debby's Corner of Greenhouse,
- 3:11Speaker 7: Sunset Berry Farms selling their produce and flowers, and we'll
- 3:16Speaker 7: also have some mom and pop shops.
- 3:19Speaker 3: How many vendors total, I mean ballpark figure.
- 3:21Speaker 4: About fifteen, about fifteen or still okay.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And it's amazing the popularity of farmers' markets there in
- 3:26Speaker 3: the last couple of years. People love it, man, I mean,
- 3:29Speaker 3: and it's it's different type things. As you said, it's
- 3:31Speaker 3: not necessarily just what it's not. It's not just cucumbers anymore.
- 3:34Speaker 3: There's a whole lot more to it than that.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Yeah, so it's gonna be kind of unique. We actually
- 3:39Speaker 7: have a vendor called honey Do Produce. He's gonna who
- 3:44Speaker 7: He's gonna be selling the chickens, the lambs, the goat
- 3:47Speaker 7: and the pork. So that's that's exciting there. And then
- 3:51Speaker 7: we have Still Blooming who does the still flowers as well.
- 3:55Speaker 7: So it is a unique market. I think it's gonna
- 3:58Speaker 7: be one of those places where it's a it's a
- 4:00Speaker 7: one stop shop and.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Where exactly is it so people know?
- 4:03Speaker 7: So it's so the address is four thousand and six
- 4:05Speaker 7: Mycrocol Avenue, southwest and South Charleston. So if you're if
- 4:09Speaker 7: you're familiar with the area, is right behind Wendy's on
- 4:12Speaker 7: my Cocol Avenue, right under the Interstate Bridge where the
- 4:15Speaker 7: old rever nd used to be.
- 4:16Speaker 3: All right, and you talked about the the process to
- 4:19Speaker 3: get here, it's been luck it's been talked about. It's
- 4:21Speaker 3: a long process to be able to get this thing
- 4:22Speaker 3: up and running right.
- 4:23Speaker 7: Yeah, So we have a lot of irons in the
- 4:26Speaker 7: fire right now. And you know, this is just something
- 4:28Speaker 7: that mayor wanted to wanted to get in there and
- 4:31Speaker 7: after the community because the more things we can offer,
- 4:34Speaker 7: the better quality offer, the better quality of life of
- 4:37Speaker 7: the community.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And I want to get back to We'll get back
- 4:39Speaker 3: to the farmer's market here momentary, but I want to
- 4:41Speaker 3: talk about some of the things going on in South
- 4:43Speaker 3: Charleston right now, because you got a lot of stuff
- 4:44Speaker 3: going on. There is a big cleanup I think is
- 4:46Speaker 3: that is that this Saturday time that's just set. Yes,
- 4:49Speaker 3: this talk about that clean up.
- 4:50Speaker 7: This Saturday, eight am to one pm is our annual
- 4:53Speaker 7: spring cleanup for Jefferson Road East in South Charleston. Our
- 4:59Speaker 7: first was last Saturday for Jefferson Road West, so that's
- 5:04Speaker 7: this Saturday, eight am to one pm. If you got
- 5:07Speaker 7: any questions on what you can put out, just call
- 5:10Speaker 7: uh the public Works.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Department, okay, and they'll give you all the information.
- 5:13Speaker 7: There.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Again, a lot of the communities, I know, Charleston's in
- 5:15Speaker 3: several and throughout the county. There's a lot of It's
- 5:18Speaker 3: a great time to do that, man.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yep, yeap, indeed it is.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So do you still have vendor space available? Gets go
- 5:25Speaker 3: back to the Farmer's market You still have vendor space?
- 5:27Speaker 4: We do. We have.
- 5:28Speaker 7: We have a couple of spaces available underneath our shelter.
- 5:31Speaker 7: So for anyone interest and can give me a call
- 5:34Speaker 7: at three zero four four four zero twenty one sixty
- 5:39Speaker 7: and now return their phone call. But we have we
- 5:41Speaker 7: have fifty by forty spaces available.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Okay. Is there anything that you'd like to have the
- 5:47Speaker 3: Farmer's marketing?
- 5:48Speaker 7: Maybe you don't. Did you want to put putting a
- 5:50Speaker 7: peel out to Yeah? Yeah, yeah, So thanks for asking
- 5:51Speaker 7: that question. So something that we're looking for is we
- 5:54Speaker 7: have we have the chickens and lambs and porks in
- 5:57Speaker 7: the and the goat. We're looking for beef. So any
- 6:01Speaker 7: any beef vendors out there that is that is one
- 6:04Speaker 7: of the things that we're.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Looking for, Okay, And how do they get in touch
- 6:06Speaker 3: with you?
- 6:07Speaker 4: They can just call me, call my office.
- 6:09Speaker 3: At city Hall. What's your number there?
- 6:11Speaker 4: Three zero four four four zero twenty one sixty.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Okay, So we're looking for beef vendors, yep, beef vendors.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Talk about some other things going on in South Charleston,
- 6:19Speaker 3: a lot of economic development. I know there's been a
- 6:22Speaker 3: lot of a lot of the news about the mall
- 6:24Speaker 3: project that's going on out there.
- 6:25Speaker 7: Just what else is going on in the Yeah, there's
- 6:28Speaker 7: a lot going on. And what I told our our
- 6:31Speaker 7: farmers market vendors the other day is where they're located
- 6:35Speaker 7: at there's economic development going on to the left of them,
- 6:37Speaker 7: in front of them, and to the right. So there's
- 6:39Speaker 7: going to be a very high traffic area right there.
- 6:42Speaker 7: And we're looking at some of these businesses starting this
- 6:47Speaker 7: summer at the new shopping center, so we'll start seeing
- 6:51Speaker 7: some activity there and we're going to have something going
- 6:56Speaker 7: on down across the sheets as well, cork Ui Avenue
- 7:01Speaker 7: and the road, the Interstate project is supposed to be
- 7:07Speaker 7: done by the end of this year, so and then
- 7:10Speaker 7: we're looking at doing some development across the street from
- 7:13Speaker 7: the community center as well.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Okay, talking to Shawn Zandiget again from the City of
- 7:18Speaker 3: South Charlesto for Dave Island showing five any line brought
- 7:20Speaker 3: to you apart by snap Fitness with a wide selection
- 7:22Speaker 3: of equipment including free weights, cardio machine, weights and more.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Five convenient locations Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield, Barbersville at Milton Business
- 7:29Speaker 3: snapitness dot Com for more totals. Let's talk about these
- 7:32Speaker 3: road projects, man, because on Jefferson Road and things of
- 7:34Speaker 3: that nature. It's it's been a process, but I think
- 7:36Speaker 3: it's going to be worth it in the end.
- 7:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 7: I mean, anytime, anytime there's progress or there's gonna be inconvenience.
- 7:42Speaker 7: So I mean, I think I think once this is
- 7:44Speaker 7: all said and done, it's just everyone's going to be
- 7:47Speaker 7: happy with with the changes of the road over there,
- 7:49Speaker 7: and there's going to be less congestion over there as well.
- 7:53Speaker 4: On Jefferson.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's that's been a problem, you know, for years.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I guess it's a I guess it's a good problem
- 7:59Speaker 3: to have have you know, uh, and it's and it
- 8:02Speaker 3: takes them getting used to there too because with the
- 8:04Speaker 3: with the traffic pattern and uh and again all the
- 8:07Speaker 3: work and I've been one that has set for many
- 8:10Speaker 3: many minutes on Jefferson Road try and especially if a
- 8:14Speaker 3: train's going through.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 9: Yeah, we had a question here. I don't know whether
- 8:19Speaker 9: you can answer this or not about the clean up
- 8:21Speaker 9: in the South Ridge area.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Is that something that you so that was that was
- 8:24Speaker 4: last weekend?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Okay, last weekend? Yep, okay, all right? What is it
- 8:28Speaker 3: that makes South Charleston such an appealing place for people
- 8:32Speaker 3: to want to come to? I mean, how do you
- 8:33Speaker 3: you're at you're a you're at an event, you're on
- 8:35Speaker 3: an elevator or whatever. And somebody says, why shouldn't I
- 8:37Speaker 3: move my business? Why should move my family to South Charleston?
- 8:41Speaker 3: What is it about it, Sean that makes that makes
- 8:44Speaker 3: it appealing to people?
- 8:45Speaker 7: Well, I would say one of the biggest things for
- 8:46Speaker 7: us is is our city services. I mean through second
- 8:50Speaker 7: to none. I mean, your trash gets picked up twice
- 8:52Speaker 7: a week. Snow detail you don't really worry about the
- 8:55Speaker 7: rose in south Frost and when it snows at all,
- 8:58Speaker 7: We get pictures sent to us all the time where
- 9:00Speaker 7: there's where there's lines either given coming from each direction
- 9:04Speaker 7: and other cities and ours are clear and they're still
- 9:06Speaker 7: have snow on them, So you can't really beat our
- 9:09Speaker 7: snow detail. But I would say, you know, it's our
- 9:12Speaker 7: city services. And then also too, you know Mayor Mallins
- 9:16Speaker 7: he has his vision and he really cares about the city,
- 9:19Speaker 7: and everything he does is based off community ideas, so
- 9:25Speaker 7: you know, he's always telling us, the more things we're
- 9:26Speaker 7: going to offer the community, the better quality of life.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Got a text here for you says there's one store
- 9:31Speaker 3: I've always wanted to see here. Have you ever thought
- 9:33Speaker 3: about contacting Ikea about putting his store in the new plaza?
- 9:37Speaker 4: You know, I think I think that they've been in
- 9:41Speaker 4: touch with us.
- 9:41Speaker 7: I'm not one hundred percent sure on that, but I
- 9:44Speaker 7: think one thing people need to understand is where we
- 9:46Speaker 7: are at the mercy of these places, whether they want
- 9:49Speaker 7: to come to us or not.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not as simple. I think sometimes I appreciate
- 9:52Speaker 3: the text of the texture. I think sometimes people think,
- 9:55Speaker 3: whether it's your city or whatever, is that the city
- 9:58Speaker 3: just goes out and says okay, Jones and Jones Department store.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I want you to come here. It doesn't work that way.
- 10:05Speaker 3: They have a they have a strict, strict guidelines that
- 10:09Speaker 3: they go by, and they do their research on traffic count,
- 10:13Speaker 3: how many, what's the demographic of the area, what's the
- 10:16Speaker 3: median income of the air before they even consider going
- 10:18Speaker 3: to a location.
- 10:19Speaker 7: Yeah, if they're metrics don't meet their numbers, they're not coming.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And they're not even gonna have the conversation.
- 10:24Speaker 7: No, And I can tell you we are very proactive
- 10:27Speaker 7: on that. I mean, we have our city of manager.
- 10:28Speaker 7: He goes, he goes to these business some min's in Vegas.
- 10:31Speaker 7: I mean, he's very proactive on it, trying to get
- 10:33Speaker 7: these people to come here. But at the end of
- 10:35Speaker 7: the day, we are at the mercy of whether they
- 10:37Speaker 7: want to come or not.
- 10:37Speaker 3: All right, what is the timeline getting back to the
- 10:41Speaker 3: plaza there? What's the timeline for when things will be complete?
- 10:44Speaker 7: You think we should see some activity this summer, starting
- 10:48Speaker 7: this summer, and then I think what you're going to
- 10:51Speaker 7: see there's once you start seeing one or two building,
- 10:53Speaker 7: you're gonna start seeing others is just.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Going to be They kind of fall in the Domino effect. Yeah, yeah, all.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Right, let's close it up. But talking about the farmers
- 11:00Speaker 3: market again. Give us all the details, the hour, so

- 14:35Speaker 3: If you want me to tell us first before we
- 14:38Speaker 3: get to this pharmacy, tell us about family of Family
- 14:42Speaker 3: Care health Centers.
- 14:42Speaker 10: Sure family care health Centers. Actually, the register name is
- 14:48Speaker 10: women Care started out in nineteen eighty nine with four
- 14:52Speaker 10: midwives in Putnam County that wanted to provide options for
- 14:56Speaker 10: women to have care. They started and a little home
- 15:00Speaker 10: and hurricane, and they started delivering babies, and then the
- 15:04Speaker 10: babies became ill, or the fathers became ill, and so
- 15:07Speaker 10: the name transitioned to a DBA of family Care and
- 15:10Speaker 10: expanded to include primary care pediatrics. We have ophthalmology, we
- 15:15Speaker 10: have behavioral health. There's just a number of different things
- 15:18Speaker 10: that we offer. We're a friendly, qualified health center and
- 15:22Speaker 10: we have twenty one locations in four counties of Boon, Cabal,
- 15:25Speaker 10: Kanal and Putnam. We have five mobile units, four that
- 15:29Speaker 10: are medical and one that's dental, and at our Patrick
- 15:32Speaker 10: Street location. Every summer we have an annual kids bash.
- 15:36Speaker 10: We have friends.
- 15:37Speaker 9: That's huge, Yes, yes, it is huge.
- 15:40Speaker 10: It started out four years ago we had about two
- 15:42Speaker 10: hundred people. The following year was like three point fifty.
- 15:45Speaker 10: We're expecting five hundred. Last year we had fifteen hundred
- 15:48Speaker 10: and we're expecting two thousands.
- 15:49Speaker 3: We'll say it's like five hundred increment, so absolutely.
- 15:53Speaker 10: And then we you know, we always just listen to
- 15:55Speaker 10: the community and whenever there is a need. So we
- 15:57Speaker 10: started out women care, then we have came family Care.
- 16:00Speaker 10: Then we start a Convenient Care, which is our urgent care.
- 16:03Speaker 10: We have three of those located in Winfield, Hurricane in
- 16:06Speaker 10: Saint Albans and now prescription care. There's a thing with
- 16:09Speaker 10: the care, so prescription care is going to be our
- 16:11Speaker 10: first pharmacy.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So to Jennifer far again a day Vland show in
- 16:15Speaker 3: five any live brought to you in parted by Pinnacle Consultants,
- 16:17Speaker 3: offering a four phase assessment for your properties, inspection, sampling,
- 16:20Speaker 3: that analysis, comprehensive reporting and management planning. Visit Pinnacle Corp
- 16:24Speaker 3: dot net. Because what you don't know can hurts you.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Now you got to break ground today on the Something's
- 16:29Speaker 3: new for you guys right in Saint Alban's a pharmacy.
- 16:31Speaker 10: Talk about Yes, so prescription care. We are going to
- 16:36Speaker 10: break ground at the location in the loop, which is
- 16:38Speaker 10: twelve connaltereers. So that's where one of our locations is
- 16:41Speaker 10: one of our facilities. That's also where one of the
- 16:44Speaker 10: convenient cares is located. And again we see a need
- 16:47Speaker 10: in the community. We already partner with other organizations like
- 16:51Speaker 10: CBS and Walgreens, but now we will have our own
- 16:54Speaker 10: pharmacy and we're going to be able to provide not
- 16:57Speaker 10: just for those that we serve, but the community at large.
- 16:59Speaker 3: And I would think too, one of the questions when
- 17:02Speaker 3: and I know when, when your information first came across
- 17:05Speaker 3: my email, the first thing, the first thing that I
- 17:07Speaker 3: think of, and I'm sure you've heard this before, is
- 17:09Speaker 3: do we need another pharmacy in the area. But obviously,
- 17:13Speaker 3: we do.
- 17:14Speaker 2: We do, we do.
- 17:15Speaker 10: I mean, I think you would be surprised at the
- 17:18Speaker 10: number of people that you know that transportation is an issue.
- 17:23Speaker 10: We know that is something that's very prevalent here, not
- 17:26Speaker 10: just in West Virginia's throughout the state. We're very rural,
- 17:29Speaker 10: mountainous and all of that. We don't have a we
- 17:32Speaker 10: don't have enough to serve the need. And so many
- 17:36Speaker 10: people tell us that they would like to be able
- 17:37Speaker 10: to have something that's very conveniently located, they're familiar with us,
- 17:41Speaker 10: and that actually helps to serve the.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Neat and having it there in the loop in Saint
- 17:44Speaker 3: Albans that's right, that's right in the heart of everything.
- 17:47Speaker 10: Absolutely.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, So you get the groundbreaking today at one
- 17:52Speaker 3: What are you expecting at the groundbreaking? You're gonna We're
- 17:56Speaker 3: we're really excited.
- 17:57Speaker 10: We're expecting to have the mayor of the city there,
- 18:00Speaker 10: We're going to have a couple of delegates there, We're
- 18:01Speaker 10: going to have people there that actually are going to
- 18:03Speaker 10: help with the construction, and we're just going to talk
- 18:06Speaker 10: about you know why, we are so happy to be
- 18:09Speaker 10: a part of this community and to help with my role,
- 18:12Speaker 10: I'm the executive director of the foundation, which supports Family
- 18:15Speaker 10: Care health centers solely. So we started a foundation lot lots.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 18:21Speaker 10: Many of the reasons were because of what took place
- 18:24Speaker 10: with COVID. We realize that when certain things happen, we
- 18:26Speaker 10: need to have contingencies A, B and C. So we're
- 18:30Speaker 10: just going to talk about why we like to be
- 18:32Speaker 10: in the community and serve the community and be a
- 18:34Speaker 10: good neighbor.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And you know, it's I think it's really interesting when
- 18:38Speaker 3: it comes to healthcare, the healthcare companies, whether it's yours
- 18:42Speaker 3: or another one that seem to be doing good things
- 18:44Speaker 3: in the community, it all depends on the support of
- 18:47Speaker 3: that community. And that sounds like the most obvious statement
- 18:49Speaker 3: in the world, but I mean, if they don't come
- 18:51Speaker 3: out and they don't support and you don't in turn
- 18:53Speaker 3: listen to them when they say, hey, we need this
- 18:58Speaker 3: or we need that, then it's it's not going to work,
- 19:01Speaker 3: you know exactly.
- 19:02Speaker 10: People can't see me shaking my head at you, but
- 19:05Speaker 10: that you're exactly right. And I think that's something that
- 19:08Speaker 10: Family Care has done. I mean, again, we go back
- 19:10Speaker 10: to the origin with four midwives that just wanted to
- 19:12Speaker 10: give women options with how they gave birth to the
- 19:15Speaker 10: point where they started bringing their babies and their husbands
- 19:17Speaker 10: and their other children and saying we need help and
- 19:21Speaker 10: to grow from that one location to now twenty one
- 19:24Speaker 10: in four counties.
- 19:25Speaker 3: We're listening. What's the timeframe here? I mean, you're breaking
- 19:28Speaker 3: ground today, but that's the ceremonial part of But when
- 19:30Speaker 3: do you hope to get it up and running?
- 19:32Speaker 10: Summer?
- 19:33Speaker 3: Summer of this year, summer of this year, smmer of
- 19:35Speaker 3: this year. You're going to break ground today and you're
- 19:37Speaker 3: going to have it ready by summer summer? Will you
- 19:38Speaker 3: work in twenty four hour seven?
- 19:40Speaker 8: No?
- 19:40Speaker 10: No, no, we don't do that, but we're hoping to
- 19:43Speaker 10: have it. You know, it could be midsummer, late summer,
- 19:46Speaker 10: but you know we're hope're that's the goal this summer.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Okay. And what's going to set this pharmacy apart from
- 19:51Speaker 3: some of the others. What's some special things?
- 19:53Speaker 10: You know? Some of the special things I think is
- 19:56Speaker 10: the way that you'll be treated. That's something that we
- 19:58Speaker 10: pride ourselves on. When you come in, we we treat
- 20:00Speaker 10: you like family. The other situation is that with the
- 20:04Speaker 10: three forty b pharmacy program, if people qualify they can
- 20:08Speaker 10: get their prescription care. I believe it's twenty five to
- 20:11Speaker 10: fifty percent less than what you may be able to
- 20:14Speaker 10: get otherwise. So you know, somebody comes in in their
- 20:18Speaker 10: diabetes medication is X dollars somewhere else, they may be
- 20:21Speaker 10: able if they qualify, to get it much cheaper. And
- 20:23Speaker 10: that's just something that we have being a part of
- 20:27Speaker 10: the three forty B pharmacy program.
- 20:28Speaker 3: And can you expound upon that program a little bit.
- 20:31Speaker 10: More, Well, it's it's a program that is created specifically
- 20:36Speaker 10: for I believe you have to be a part of
- 20:38Speaker 10: like a federally qualified health center in order to have
- 20:41Speaker 10: that three forty B program, or you have to be
- 20:43Speaker 10: some type of community health center. And it's just something
- 20:47Speaker 10: that is contractual with the government and they actually provide
- 20:51Speaker 10: that service. It's not necessarily something that you would have
- 20:53Speaker 10: to go to our pharmacy to be.
- 20:55Speaker 3: A part of.
- 20:55Speaker 10: We have partnerships currently with like I believe I mentioned
- 20:58Speaker 10: like CVS and Walgreens where you can actually go in
- 21:01Speaker 10: and and and have that you know, if you.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Qualify for it. And I'm presuming that with this, with
- 21:08Speaker 3: this pharmacy program, it'll be just like you do with
- 21:10Speaker 3: the healthcare centers. You plan on being a big part
- 21:12Speaker 3: of the community. And I know Saint Albans has always
- 21:15Speaker 3: got stuff going on. Actually, Mayor James is going to
- 21:17Speaker 3: be on the show tomorrow, and there's always something going on.
- 21:21Speaker 3: They just had a pub crawl this past weekend.
- 21:23Speaker 10: Uh.
- 21:25Speaker 3: I think sometimes they just want to excuse to have
- 21:26Speaker 3: a party.
- 21:27Speaker 9: Uh.
- 21:27Speaker 3: And there's and there's absolutely absolutely nothing wrong with that.
- 21:30Speaker 3: But I mean they got the fall y'all, the chili kickoff,
- 21:33Speaker 3: Yackfast sack Fast, which is the largest festival of its
- 21:37Speaker 3: kind in the country, So there's always something going on there.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So I guess you guys are gonna be right in
- 21:42Speaker 3: the middle of the ring.
- 21:43Speaker 10: We're right in the middle of that. Actually, my literally
- 21:45Speaker 10: literally so my office is. We purchased that I think
- 21:50Speaker 10: was the former i GA and that's where our administrative
- 21:53Speaker 10: offices are. We have a distribution center there and a warehouse,
- 21:56Speaker 10: and then we're very close to where the dairy Queen
- 21:59Speaker 10: is and I may or may not go over there
- 22:01Speaker 10: a few times a week and get a Sunday who wouldn't,
- 22:04Speaker 10: And then with the loop is we could literally walk there.
- 22:08Speaker 10: So we are just a really big part of the
- 22:11Speaker 10: community there, and we provide school based health services to
- 22:15Speaker 10: Saint Athan's schools. So we're very, very embedded and involved
- 22:19Speaker 10: in the community, and we want to be a great
- 22:21Speaker 10: community partner, and we hope people see us as a
- 22:23Speaker 10: community partner.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And I'm not going to turn this to anything political. However,
- 22:27Speaker 3: there are a lot of concerns right now about things
- 22:30Speaker 3: coming out of Washington as far as some of the
- 22:32Speaker 3: programs may or not be available. I think that's a
- 22:34Speaker 3: pretty fair statement that everybody could agree on one way
- 22:37Speaker 3: or the other. There are concerns coming out and so
- 22:39Speaker 3: your services may be more important than ever.
- 22:42Speaker 10: I totally agree with you. I mean, I share this
- 22:45Speaker 10: with a few people and you may not know this.
- 22:47Speaker 10: When I was almost twenty three years old, I was
- 22:50Speaker 10: diagnosed with a brain tumor. And when at that point
- 22:54Speaker 10: in time, at twenty three, my father's health insurance canceled me,
- 22:58Speaker 10: so my parents had to mortgage home to pay for
- 23:01Speaker 10: six medications.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Known you for a number of years, Jennifer and I
- 23:03Speaker 3: did not know.
- 23:04Speaker 10: The stng H one medication cost my parents eight hundred
- 23:07Speaker 10: dollars back in nineteen ninety three today's dollars, that's seventeen
- 23:10Speaker 10: hundred dollars a month. My parents were fortunate enough that
- 23:13Speaker 10: they had a home that they could do that. It
- 23:14Speaker 10: was one of the first I think I had five
- 23:16Speaker 10: of them total, and I was very fortunate. It was
- 23:20Speaker 10: a blessing that my parents had a home that they
- 23:22Speaker 10: could mortgage to take the equity out of. I don't
- 23:25Speaker 10: think anyone should have to decide to watch their child
- 23:28Speaker 10: die or suffer so for certain medications. I think it's
- 23:32Speaker 10: just important that people have options and that they don't
- 23:34Speaker 10: have to mortgage their homes in order to stay a lot.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Wow, did Like I said, you learned something. And by
- 23:38Speaker 3: the way, I got a text to my this is
- 23:41Speaker 3: to my personal life, not the tax line that says
- 23:43Speaker 3: you're interviewing my sister there. Do you have any idea
- 23:46Speaker 3: who that would be?
- 23:46Speaker 10: Tony parents?
- 23:47Speaker 2: Know?
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I was gonna say, I'll give you one gas.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, we go way way back, so you got
- 23:55Speaker 3: I was going to say, so you've got dirt on Tony,
- 23:58Speaker 3: but everybody's got dirt on Tony. We can compare the
- 24:01Speaker 3: dirt we have on Tony.
- 24:03Speaker 10: Tony knows I would never do that.
- 24:06Speaker 9: Especially especially not on the air. But all right, so
- 24:11Speaker 9: let's Uh, let's wrap it up here.
- 24:13Speaker 3: The ribbon cutting is today.
- 24:14Speaker 10: Today at one pm. And again we're we're so excited
- 24:18Speaker 10: that the mayor is going to be there, one of
- 24:20Speaker 10: the delegates, Walt is going to be there as well.
- 24:25Speaker 3: That he's a friend, he's a good friend of answer.
- 24:28Speaker 10: Yeah, he's you know, and we're excited because again, as
- 24:32Speaker 10: you had mentioned before, there's there's just and not to
- 24:34Speaker 10: get political, there's just things, and I think people everyone's
- 24:37Speaker 10: just a little bit.
- 24:40Speaker 3: There are a lot of questions right now, no matter
- 24:42Speaker 3: which side of the aisle that you're on, there's a
- 24:44Speaker 3: lot of.
- 24:44Speaker 10: Questions, absolutely, and we're just happy that we're being able
- 24:48Speaker 10: to break ground construction, which means there's going to be
- 24:53Speaker 10: jobs and economic development and that people are going to
- 24:57Speaker 10: see something in their community that they can be proud
- 25:00Speaker 10: and that actually makes us very proud of Family Care.
- 25:03Speaker 3: All right. Again, the groundbreaking is today at one o'clock
- 25:06Speaker 3: there at the Loop in Saint Albans. And you're on
- 25:09Speaker 3: social media websites, you anything like that, you all, oh my.
- 25:12Speaker 10: Gosh, So our website is familycarewv dot org. Prescription Care
- 25:18Speaker 10: has its own website, Convenient Care has its own website
- 25:21Speaker 10: and then also the foundation has its own website, So
- 25:24Speaker 10: we have four separate website, four separate social media pages.
- 25:27Speaker 10: We're on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and we always have some
- 25:31Speaker 10: fun giveaways. So if people want to go and look
- 25:33Speaker 10: on our we have a really good one right now
- 25:35Speaker 10: for the symphony Sunday. Okay to two tickets to VIP tickets,
- 25:39Speaker 10: So if people want to go and look at that,
- 25:40Speaker 10: that'd be awesome.
- 25:41Speaker 3: All right, And how does that work? You just go
- 25:42Speaker 3: to your social media and.
- 25:43Speaker 10: Get a social media page you like and share. I
- 25:47Speaker 10: think sometimes you have to tag people, Okay, but you
- 25:50Speaker 10: get entered and we do a drawing and we give
- 25:53Speaker 10: away things for the community that we support.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Before we do.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Let you go. You mentioned the foundation. Are you in
- 26:00Speaker 3: need of anything for the because I know if these
- 26:02Speaker 3: foundations are nonprofit, I mean, do you just take direct
- 26:04Speaker 3: donations or do you have good companies are listening right
- 26:08Speaker 3: now and they'd like to get involved sell the foundation
- 26:10Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 26:11Speaker 10: Well, the foundation and Dave, thank you for that opportunity.
- 26:14Speaker 10: It's it started about a year ago. That's when I
- 26:18Speaker 10: came on board with Family Care. We actually talking about
- 26:22Speaker 10: saying I'm sorry the mobile units. We have a mobile
- 26:25Speaker 10: unit that services Putnam County Schools, and again not to
- 26:31Speaker 10: be political, we were very close to getting a congressional
- 26:34Speaker 10: directed spending to replace all four mobile medical units that
- 26:37Speaker 10: cost anywhere from four hundred to five hundred thousand dollars
- 26:39Speaker 10: a year. The one for Putnam County Schools specifically needs
- 26:43Speaker 10: to be repaired and that's a four hundred thousand dollars cost.
- 26:47Speaker 10: So if there are anyone that knows of sponsorships or
- 26:51Speaker 10: donations or anything, you can go to our foundation page
- 26:56Speaker 10: and you can actually give donations to that page. Again,
- 27:01Speaker 10: we started out as I mean, we are the only
- 27:03Speaker 10: accredited freestanding burst center in the state of West Virginia.
- 27:06Speaker 10: It's on the west side of Charleston. Did you know
- 27:07Speaker 10: we had a birth center.
- 27:08Speaker 3: No, I did not.
- 27:09Speaker 10: It's on the west side in the old Kelly's Men's
- 27:11Speaker 10: shop above Doctor Patten's what Doctor Patton is now right, Yeah,
- 27:14Speaker 10: second floor. We need I mean, we have things that
- 27:17Speaker 10: we need there, and whether it comes down to just
- 27:20Speaker 10: being able to supply someone with something to take home
- 27:23Speaker 10: with them materials for that birth center. We're in the community.
- 27:28Speaker 10: We support the community. Anyone that wants to give find
- 27:31Speaker 10: out more. We do lunch and learns. We would love
- 27:33Speaker 10: for you to come by and do a lunch and learning.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Well, unfortunately they keep me tied to this microphone between
- 27:37Speaker 3: noon and we do. If I swing by about three thirty,
- 27:43Speaker 3: could you save me a plate?
- 27:44Speaker 10: You know what, if you came by a three thirty,
- 27:46Speaker 10: I would give you your own personal tour.
- 27:49Speaker 9: Nice, nice, all right, and with with food, right, with food, Okay, just.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Make surelutely and we support local.
- 27:54Speaker 3: All right, support local. It's Jennifer. It's always a pleasure.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Have you keep an eye on Tony the Taylor.
- 27:59Speaker 10: Okay, Well, and next time I see Mayor Jones, I'll
- 28:01Speaker 10: definitely tell him that I was able to talk to you.
- 28:03Speaker 3: I know you guys are very close. Yeah, yeah, I
- 28:05Speaker 3: had him on the show Yesterday's matter think.
- 28:06Speaker 10: I talked to him. I see him probably once every
- 28:09Speaker 10: other week, so we talk.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I talked to him last week. All Jennifer, I appreciate
- 28:13Speaker 3: you being here again the groundbreaking for the new pharmacies
- 28:15Speaker 3: at one o'clock today on the Loop in Saint Albans,
- 28:19Speaker 3: and we're glad we could help you out a little bit.
- 28:20Speaker 3: And we'll talk again soon. Thanks always, appreciate you, Dave,
- 28:23Speaker 3: thank you.

- 31:41Speaker 3: you get into talking about vaccines and things of that nature.
- 31:45Speaker 3: This is something that Delicate Krause has been very very
- 31:48Speaker 3: passionate about, and she penned an op ed, and so
- 31:53Speaker 3: read the op ed yesterday. I thought, well that's pretty interesting.
- 31:55Speaker 3: She's an interesting person, I said, Delegate, will you come down?
- 31:58Speaker 3: So she'll be on the show during the two o'clock

- 32:24Speaker 9: and I'm going to get into that here momentarily as well.
- 32:26Speaker 3: On the local show. This Niosh thing in Morgantown yesterday
- 32:30Speaker 3: actually late Friday, around six thirty, news came that those
- 32:33Speaker 3: jobs are pretty much done at this point, and so
- 32:36Speaker 3: we'll get an update on that situation. Plus after two thirty,

- 33:33Speaker 3: to some things we didn't get to from yesterday, Texas
- 33:38Speaker 3: I don't agree with January six Now, in case you
- 33:40Speaker 3: missed yesterday's show, Danny and I Danny former Charles Mayor
- 33:44Speaker 3: Danny Jones was in here. We were talking reliving some
- 33:46Speaker 3: things from January sixth. Textra said, I don't agree with
- 33:48Speaker 3: January six but I also don't think enough attention has
- 33:52Speaker 3: been given to the fact that someone other than President
- 33:54Speaker 3: Biden was running our country for new who knows how long.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Nobody seems interested in finding out that information. Well, I
- 34:02Speaker 3: think and look, I I don't necessarily disagree with with
- 34:08Speaker 3: what the text is saying there, especially let's say, within
- 34:11Speaker 3: the last six eight months, and there is several articles
- 34:14Speaker 3: being written now, there's several books that are being planned
- 34:16Speaker 3: about the final months of the Biden administration and especially
- 34:21Speaker 3: as the campaign started to ramp up, and the picture
- 34:25Speaker 3: that they're pay and again, this is not part of
- 34:27Speaker 3: this is not this is not partisan politics doing this.
- 34:30Speaker 3: These are people, objective writers. I think you're going to
- 34:33Speaker 3: find out that I don't know who was in charge
- 34:36Speaker 3: of the country, but it probably wasn't Joe Biden. And
- 34:39Speaker 3: I think a bigger question here, and this is where
- 34:41Speaker 3: I think the Democrats, in my opinion, have got a
- 34:43Speaker 3: lot of answering to do. Is who thought it would
- 34:45Speaker 3: be a good idea to let Joe Biden run for reelection,
- 34:51Speaker 3: Whether it was someone in his family, whether it was
- 34:53Speaker 3: those closest to him. Somebody, and I'm looking straight at you.
- 34:58Speaker 3: National Democratic Party or maybe State Democratic Party. Somebody should
- 35:01Speaker 3: have said this is not a good idea. Somebody should
- 35:04Speaker 3: have said that at that point. They they didn't. We're
- 35:09Speaker 3: talking about protest votes. A little yesterday text that a
- 35:11Speaker 3: protest vote is wanting perfect when good enough would be
- 35:14Speaker 3: good enough. Well, I mentioned the fact I didn't vote
- 35:17Speaker 3: for Donald Trump this past election, but I don't necessarily
- 35:20Speaker 3: think that Joe. I couldn't would good conscious vote for
- 35:22Speaker 3: Joe Biden either, So going back to yesterday's show, would
- 35:28Speaker 3: have been nice if Danny would have spoke out a
- 35:30Speaker 3: little more against Trump before the election. I listen and
- 35:33Speaker 3: didn't hear him take a hard line on Trump during
- 35:35Speaker 3: the campaign. Danny is still respected among boomers around here.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Might have made a difference as a texture. All right,
- 35:44Speaker 3: So it is back the V one hundred yard sale.
- 35:48Speaker 3: It's this Saturday at ladley Field, and to say it's
- 35:51Speaker 3: going to be huge is quite the understatement. Of course,
- 35:55Speaker 3: a lot of areas in Charleston and elsewhere are having
- 35:58Speaker 3: yard sales this weekend, and east En yard sales so
- 36:03Speaker 3: on and so forth. Now the hours for the v
- 36:05Speaker 3: one hundred yard sale are Saturday, eight am until noon.
- 36:09Speaker 3: A couple of things we need to let you know about.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Everybody must be off the lot by one o'clock. You
- 36:15Speaker 3: can't be hanging out and trying to negotiate different prices.
- 36:20Speaker 3: One o'clock you're gone. And also know from a traffic standpoint,
- 36:25Speaker 3: there is only one way too Ladley Field for the
- 36:27Speaker 3: yard sale. You have to take Washington Street to Elizabeth
- 36:31Speaker 3: and get in line from there. Now, if you are
- 36:33Speaker 3: a vendor, you have to be there well before eight o'clock,
- 36:38Speaker 3: well before eight o'clock. Now, I don't know what well
- 36:40Speaker 3: means to you, but I must say an hour or so.
- 36:44Speaker 3: You got to be there because it opens at eight o'clock.
- 36:46Speaker 3: You can't be a vendor trying to set up at
- 36:49Speaker 3: eight o'clock. That simply is not going to work. You're
- 36:52Speaker 3: going to have to be there well in advance of
- 36:55Speaker 3: the eight o'clock start time. Once this is for venders.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Once you have unloaded your vehicle, you have to move it.
- 37:02Speaker 3: You cannot leave it there. Okay. The parking area is
- 37:06Speaker 3: on the railroad track side of the lot, and the
- 37:09Speaker 3: weather the weather looks good as of right now. But
- 37:12Speaker 3: as we all know, nobody was really expecting a hailstorm
- 37:15Speaker 3: to hit South Charleston and surrounding areas yesterday afternoon. But
- 37:18Speaker 3: here we are.
- 37:19Speaker 6: My poor.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Coworker TJ. Meadows had to do had to turn all
- 37:23Speaker 3: Brian Hughes into a weather update for it's from yesterday
- 37:28Speaker 3: because his car was getting pounced upon in South Charleston yesterday.
- 37:33Speaker 3: But anyway, the point there is is that we never
- 37:37Speaker 3: know what the weather's going to do. It does look
- 37:39Speaker 3: good for right now, though, but things can change. If
- 37:42Speaker 3: there were to be a postponement because of the weather,
- 37:47Speaker 3: it will be put on the Facebook page of V
- 37:50Speaker 3: one hundred by no later than six am on Saturday morning.
- 37:55Speaker 3: So also, if you're a vendor, you must bring your
- 37:58Speaker 3: own tables. We are not in the table business. And
- 38:03Speaker 3: here's something I think is really cool. If you have
- 38:05Speaker 3: items as a vendor that you don't sell and you
- 38:11Speaker 3: don't want to haul them back home, Mountain Mission is
- 38:14Speaker 3: going to be on site with a truck on the
- 38:16Speaker 3: lot at around eleven thirty that morning to accept items
- 38:20Speaker 3: for donation. So again, you know how yard sales work,
- 38:23Speaker 3: you know, I mean I have been a part of them.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Myself years and years ago. And at some point when
- 38:28Speaker 3: you get ready to pack it all in, you say,
- 38:33Speaker 3: the next car that comes in, make me an offer.
- 38:35Speaker 3: And this stuff because I don't want to put it
- 38:36Speaker 3: back in the attic. Well, it's pretty much the same here.
- 38:38Speaker 3: That's why Mountain Mission is going to be there. So
- 38:39Speaker 3: you vendors, if you got stuff that you don't want
- 38:42Speaker 3: to haul back, Mountain Mission will take it starting at
- 38:45Speaker 3: eleven thirty. There also you are responsible for clean up.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Clean up your crap, all right. There are going to
- 38:50Speaker 3: be food vendors on site, so you're not allowed to
- 38:53Speaker 3: sell food. Okay. It should be a good time overall.
- 38:58Speaker 3: It always is. And so many yard sales going on
- 39:01Speaker 3: this weekend, so many communities having him, and this is
- 39:04Speaker 3: this is another one. And by the way, big shout
- 39:06Speaker 3: out to the folks at PoCA Valley UH for making
- 39:09Speaker 3: it possible on our end. I'm not sure at this
- 39:13Speaker 3: point how many vendor spots are available, if I will
- 39:16Speaker 3: say this few, if any. I was talking to Steve
- 39:18Speaker 3: Bishop about this yesterday, and Steve, by the way, is
- 39:20Speaker 3: going to come on the show on Friday to talk
- 39:22Speaker 3: about it. And by that point we're not going to
- 39:24Speaker 3: be putting out an appeal for vendors. By that point,
- 39:26Speaker 3: we're gonna just be saying for you, the customers, to
- 39:30Speaker 3: come out because the vendor slots will all be gone
- 39:32Speaker 3: by that. But if you do have any questions, you
- 39:35Speaker 3: can call our front desk here UH three zero four
- 39:38Speaker 3: three four two eight one three one talk to Tracy Uh.
- 39:41Speaker 3: You can also check out the V one hundred website
- 39:43Speaker 3: and Facebook page if you want more information. And as
- 39:46Speaker 3: I said, Steve Bishop from V one hundred will join
- 39:50Speaker 3: me on the show this Friday morning to talk about it.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Texas Day this past weekend had a huge throwback tree
- 40:00Speaker 3: for all those who were called and love the old
- 40:02Speaker 3: Rax restaurants. There are only seven remaining in the US
- 40:05Speaker 3: in Illinois, Kentucky and five in Ohio, one of which
- 40:09Speaker 3: is very close twenty two to fifty South third Street
- 40:11Speaker 3: in Ireton. We made the drive and so glad we did.
- 40:14Speaker 3: The food tasted exactly the same as it did all
- 40:17Speaker 3: those decades ago. Can someone please get a franchise store
- 40:20Speaker 3: back here again? So there the call out for Racks.
- 40:24Speaker 3: I remember Rax. We haven't eaten at one in a
- 40:26Speaker 3: long time. I did know there was one in Ireton,
- 40:29Speaker 3: But I haven't been there, but yeah, I remember Rax
- 40:32Speaker 3: Well Texas Dave Trump Take of the Day going to

- 40:41Speaker 3: Trump Take of the Day. This texture has become kind
- 40:44Speaker 3: of like a feature of the Trump Take of the Day.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Texta says Woodrow Wilson's wife ran the country for the
- 40:50Speaker 3: last two years of his administration. Joe Biden would certainly
- 40:53Speaker 3: be better than what we have now.
- 40:57Speaker 9: If that is the case, then I would say that
- 41:00Speaker 9: maybe Joe Biden should have.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Been the nominee for president. Just saying, but well before,
- 41:07Speaker 3: This is not throwing off on Kamada Harris. This is
- 41:09Speaker 3: about Joe Biden should have had no business, no business
- 41:12Speaker 3: being the nominee for president. If Joe Biden at the
- 41:15Speaker 3: texture I'm not arguing with you, but the texture says
- 41:17Speaker 3: Joe Biden would have would make a better president, then
- 41:20Speaker 3: Joe Biden should have been the nominee.

- 41:39Speaker 3: The folks that are left at that, a Niosh facility
- 41:43Speaker 3: in Morgantown, told last month that they may lose their
- 41:46Speaker 3: jobs in federal budget cuts, were told late Friday they
- 41:50Speaker 3: will lose their jobs come July. Second. Now, a little
- 41:53Speaker 3: background here. The first notices were sent out to one
- 41:56Speaker 3: hundred and eighty five members of the American Federation of
- 41:59Speaker 3: Government and Employe's Local thirty four to thirty on April
- 42:03Speaker 3: the first. There were also non union workers that were
- 42:07Speaker 3: part of that as well. The United Mine Workers are
- 42:10Speaker 3: calling the cuts by the Trump administration quote cowardly since
- 42:14Speaker 3: they came at six thirty on Friday evening, and many
- 42:18Speaker 3: people now are worried what this will mean for the
- 42:22Speaker 3: safety and well being of those in the mining industry
- 42:25Speaker 3: because they did a lot of research with black lung,
- 42:27Speaker 3: and interestingly enough, we are seeing an up, very much
- 42:31Speaker 3: an uptick in the black lung diagnosis for young coal
- 42:36Speaker 3: miners these days. Used to be you're an old coal miner,
- 42:39Speaker 3: which all my family was you had black lung. It
- 42:42Speaker 3: was no question as to whether you had it, it
- 42:44Speaker 3: was just how severe it was going to be. Well,
- 42:45Speaker 3: now they're seeing an uptick with young people, it seems.
- 42:48Speaker 3: But yeah, there's a lot of people, and I'm very
- 42:51Speaker 3: interested with this announcement coming out, and again it was
- 42:54Speaker 3: late Friday, like six point thirty. I'm very interested to
- 42:58Speaker 3: see what the response will be from our delegation, Senator
- 43:01Speaker 3: Shelley Moore, Capito, Senator Jim Justice, and others. We are
- 43:06Speaker 3: going to get into that a little bit more on

- 46:30Speaker 3: is bad.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Well.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Trump's policies have been tanking the country since January, and
- 46:34Speaker 3: we're still hearing conspiracies about if Joe Biden was really
- 46:38Speaker 3: running the White House deflection question mark because Kamala Harris
- 46:42Speaker 3: couldn't have tanked our first one hundred days as hard
- 46:45Speaker 3: as Trump has. Well, I was asking questions about Joe
- 46:48Speaker 3: Biden in the campaign, and if you remember, I said
- 46:51Speaker 3: that if any any Democrat, any Biden supporter, thought that
- 46:55Speaker 3: everybody was that, you know, all the lights were on,
- 46:59Speaker 3: then they were sadly mistaken. I said that during the
- 47:01Speaker 3: campaign Texas, Dave, I will tell all MAGA supporters one
- 47:07Speaker 3: thing Joe Biden did greats he beat Trump bad, not
- 47:11Speaker 3: this pastime. Sorry about the all caps the text, Well,

- 48:04Speaker 9: Quickly. I want to get into this shots fired now
- 48:09Speaker 9: between Senator and former Governor Jim Justice and the current
- 48:12Speaker 9: Governor Patrick Morrissey. Late last night, Senator Justice released a
- 48:16Speaker 9: statement following the release of the April tax revenue numbers.
- 48:19Speaker 9: Read just some of the statements made by Senator Justice
- 48:21Speaker 9: last night.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Quote. I love the great people of West Virginia. I
- 48:24Speaker 3: will never tell them anything but the truth, and now
- 48:26Speaker 3: will never forsake them. The doom and gloom of a
- 48:29Speaker 3: four hundred million dollar hole in the public was never right.
- 48:33Speaker 3: In the funds was never right then, not now. We
- 48:35Speaker 3: left over two billion dollars to work with and robust outlooks.
- 48:38Speaker 3: And my favorite line, it ain't bragging if you're rights
- 48:42Speaker 3: quote almost as like the kid Rock line from Cocky
- 48:44Speaker 3: it ain't bragging expeltive if you back it up. It
- 48:47Speaker 3: seems like these state level Republicans always got a beef
- 48:51Speaker 3: with each other. Now, last week it was Secretary of
- 48:53Speaker 3: State Chris Warner upset with the governor's office that we
- 48:55Speaker 3: covered that on Metro News midday show. Now former governor
- 48:58Speaker 3: and Senator Jim Justice is taking issue with Governor morriency.
- 49:01Speaker 3: I suppose that's what happens when you have absolute power.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Probably not much different than so what the battles Democrats
- 49:07Speaker 3: had with each other years ago when they were in charge.
- 49:10Speaker 4: TJ.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Meadows, who never has beef with anybody except when somebody
- 49:15Speaker 3: drives the wrong way on a street in Charleston, we
- 49:17Speaker 3: were on a conference call this morning. We have a
- 49:22Speaker 3: little get together, uh, you know, myself, mister Wilson, mister Meadows,
- 49:25Speaker 3: and Brad and a few of us eight o'clock each morning.
- 49:28Speaker 2: And TJ.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Hands Free, by the way, hands Free was stressed with
- 49:31Speaker 3: driving in and in the middle says, okay, lady, And
- 49:34Speaker 3: if lady was just driving the wrong way, was it?
- 49:36Speaker 3: And she was a lady? Yeah, I'm not being you know,
- 49:39Speaker 3: it was it was a female. Was a female female girl?
- 49:42Speaker 3: Uh so uh was it Virginia Street? Yeah, because that's
- 49:45Speaker 3: normally what happens. I can't tell you the number of
- 49:47Speaker 3: times on Virginia Street right in front of our building,
- 49:49Speaker 3: eleven eleven I've looked out and said, well, there goes
- 49:51Speaker 3: somebody going the wrong way. Look, maybe they don't know,
- 49:53Speaker 3: maybe they're new to the city.
- 49:54Speaker 9: Or what cars coming at you should be there, you know,
- 49:57Speaker 9: you know, I'm not doing the right thing. A lot
- 49:59Speaker 9: of twenn it's two way traffic in all the streets,
- 50:01Speaker 9: you know, so but depending on where you're from. But yeah,
- 50:04Speaker 9: man just did not catch that. And more roundabouts will
- 50:08Speaker 9: that fix the problem? More roundabouts? I was just talking
- 50:13Speaker 9: with Howard Monroe Wheeling this morning and he was talking
- 50:15Speaker 9: about something that I was like, roundabouts, Howie, roundabout And
- 50:18Speaker 9: that's how you get it fixed.
- 50:19Speaker 3: So Amelia Nicely and Lori Kursey have an interesting story
- 50:22Speaker 3: at West Virginia Watch this morning, and I think Amelia
- 50:24Speaker 3: is going to be on with you guys on tenth
- 50:25Speaker 3: plane later today. Not so I won't get into it
- 50:27Speaker 3: too much, but if you'll recall, the legislature didn't pass
- 50:30Speaker 3: the bill to loosen the childhood imanization requirements. Governor Morrissey
- 50:33Speaker 3: comes in with an executive order. Is EO directed state
- 50:36Speaker 3: officials to offer a religious exemption now on Friday. The
- 50:39Speaker 3: Governor made it clear the public schools must comply, and
- 50:42Speaker 3: some say they aren't. A big battle brewing again and again.
- 50:44Speaker 3: I'll let you guys get into that, because you had
- 50:46Speaker 3: Amelia coming on at ten thirty. What's your take on
- 50:48Speaker 3: this little preview?
- 50:50Speaker 9: So she's dealing with the private schools and talking about
- 50:52Speaker 9: the private schools, and the diocese has announced they will
- 50:55Speaker 9: not comply. Their students will continue to be required to bevaccinated.
- 51:00Speaker 9: The Lensley School, private institution Wheeling has said the same thing,
- 51:03Speaker 9: even though they have received directives that they should be,
- 51:07Speaker 9: you know, in compliance with this EO as well. I say,
- 51:09Speaker 9: good on them. This is unlawful. It violates the rule
- 51:14Speaker 9: of law. There's case law, there's code. Fine, let's go
- 51:20Speaker 9: to court, let's figure it out, adjudicate it. But governors
- 51:24Speaker 9: aren't kings. And so for those who clearly refer to
- 51:29Speaker 9: sixteen dash three dash for it's right there, David's even
- 51:32Speaker 9: in bold you have to be vaccinated. Good on them
- 51:36Speaker 9: for following the law, even if they're elected representative. Is
- 51:40Speaker 9: not whoa that was harsh. Didn't mean it to be harsh.
- 51:45Speaker 9: I mean, look, it's a black and white thing. Are
- 51:48Speaker 9: you following the law or not? And in fairness of
- 51:51Speaker 9: the governor, he quotes the riff for a law on
- 51:54Speaker 9: different things. I don't think it holds up. But that's
- 51:56Speaker 9: one man's opinion.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Let me read this text real quick before we let
- 51:59Speaker 3: you go. Fore I go any challenges to in God
- 52:01Speaker 3: we Trust mandate in schools. The science has been mandated,
- 52:04Speaker 3: and God we Trust has to go. I mean, if
- 52:05Speaker 3: it goes to court, it won't stand. It'll come down.
- 52:08Speaker 3: In my opinion, I think it'll come down if it
- 52:10Speaker 3: goes to court.
- 52:10Speaker 9: I don't know whether it will or I don't. I'm
- 52:12Speaker 9: not I don't care. I haven't thought about that one much.
- 52:14Speaker 9: To be honest with you, Yeah, well I'll have to
- 52:17Speaker 9: think that out.
- 52:18Speaker 3: All right quickly. What else you got?
- 52:20Speaker 9: So? We have a huge show coming up. We talked
- 52:22Speaker 9: about Amelia coming up at ten oh six. We're gonna
- 52:24Speaker 9: talk with Fidelis. They're the people building that microgrid data
- 52:29Speaker 9: center in Mason County. We'll talk with them and see
- 52:32Speaker 9: what their plans are and go from there.
- 52:33Speaker 3: All right, we'll be listening. Thanks a lot, man, Ryan Nichols,
- 52:36Speaker 3: from my producer, Thank you so much. I'll be back
- 52:37Speaker 3: with Metro News Midday powered by Selango Law with Amanda
- 52:40Speaker 3: Baron thirteen News and Tonight Live anchor and me coming
- 52:42Speaker 3: up at noon today. Till then, have fun and love somebody.
