- 0:34what is going on everybody
- 0:35welcome to lunch time a
- 0:38little break from the work
- 0:39day come hang out with my
- 0:40friends so good to see
- 0:42everybody in the chat today
- 0:44what's going on train to
- 0:45live jody denise lito craig
- 0:50good to see every single
- 0:52one of you here today uh
- 0:54gonna do a quick dart throw
- 0:58Oh, my gosh.
- 1:00Oh, I'm getting worse.
- 1:01I'm getting worse.
- 1:02What's up, Jose?
- 1:06I know this is a little inside baseball.
- 1:08You guys probably don't even care.
- 1:10I am always playing with the
- 1:11mic in front of my face, right?
- 1:13And there's all these things
- 1:14that I can twist and turn
- 1:16to tighten my mic.
- 1:18For months,
- 1:19this mic has been loose and
- 1:21it's been kind of like
- 1:23bopping a little bit to the
- 1:24left and to the right.
- 1:25And I'm tightening all these
- 1:26things and I can't get it
- 1:27to get towards where I want it.
- 1:31And finally, I come down today,
- 1:33getting set up,
- 1:34and I look and I see that there's this
- 1:37There's a screw inside here
- 1:39that I need an Allen wrench for.
- 1:42And, um,
- 1:46and so I had the Allen wrench on
- 1:47my desk from putting everything together,
- 1:49um,
- 1:50tightened it up and now it is awesome.
- 1:53It's not moving at all at all.
- 1:56It is.
- 1:57So I'm going to try to not
- 1:58play with the mic.
- 2:00I'm going to try to leave it alone.
- 2:02Um, but I'm super, super excited.
- 2:05but I got that fixed finally
- 2:07after months I know it's a
- 2:08little thing you guys
- 2:09probably don't care but it
- 2:11makes me happy um um jenny
- 2:18lynn a plus for consistent
- 2:19lunch shows with the dart
- 2:21throw uh well thank you for
- 2:22that uh the actual throw uh not so much
- 2:30Judy Reed, we care.
- 2:32It's just something small and it makes,
- 2:34man, that made me happy today.
- 2:36The other thing that made me
- 2:37happy is I told you guys yesterday,
- 2:39we have these eight hour
- 2:41meetings for yesterday, today,
- 2:43and tomorrow.
- 2:44And today we started to meet
- 2:47and realized that we
- 2:50couldn't go any further
- 2:51because the people who
- 2:53asked for the meeting didn't
- 2:55Didn't have all their ducks in a row.
- 2:57So it got canceled for the
- 2:58rest of the day.
- 3:02And that was amazing.
- 3:05That I did not have to sit
- 3:06through an eight-hour
- 3:07meeting today made me even
- 3:09more happy than getting
- 3:11this thing tightened.
- 3:13But Lito, I am totally with you.
- 3:16We don't judge Scott.
- 3:17I'm happy when I find
- 3:18matching plates at the gym.
- 3:20Yeah,
- 3:20it makes me feel weird if I had...
- 3:22And CrossFit Polaris...
- 3:25love them to death, but it's,
- 3:27they have so much equipment and they're,
- 3:30they have it set up where
- 3:32you kind of have like a
- 3:34lane and at the end,
- 3:35each lane you have most of
- 3:37the equipment you'll need for the day.
- 3:39And there are tons and tons of plates.
- 3:42And they're just kind of
- 3:42thrown in the middle of the rig.
- 3:45And it's really hard to find
- 3:48two matching plates.
- 3:50And it would make me feel so
- 3:52much happier when I could
- 3:53actually find plates that matched.
- 3:57I know they both say fifteen pounds,
- 3:58but when they look different, you're like,
- 4:00but are they?
- 4:02You know, who knows?
- 4:06Um...
- 4:08Denise fixed her front door
- 4:09by tightening some screws.
- 4:11See?
- 4:12Everybody's getting happy.
- 4:14Everybody's getting happy.
- 4:17So I'm listening to Siobhan
- 4:20this morning and Denise said this.
- 4:22Scott got nice kudos from
- 4:24Siobhan this morning.
- 4:25And I did.
- 4:26It was really odd to hear.
- 4:30He said that he's become
- 4:32addicted to this show.
- 4:34And when he's out in his
- 4:35yard with his fruit trees
- 4:38and all of that kind of stuff.
- 4:41And it's weird for me to hear this.
- 4:44And he didn't know if the
- 4:45show was good or if he just
- 4:47thought the situation he
- 4:49was in was good and made him happy.
- 4:51And maybe it was both and
- 4:52maybe it was one.
- 4:55But it's funny because
- 4:55that's how I feel about this show.
- 4:57Um,
- 4:58it's one of my favorite things to do
- 5:00now during the day.
- 5:01But to be honest with you guys,
- 5:03like the reason I started
- 5:05doing this had no bearing
- 5:08on trying to get people to
- 5:10listen or to hang out.
- 5:13It was that I was jealous of
- 5:16other people who could jump
- 5:19on in a moment's notice if
- 5:21news broke and just talk into the camera.
- 5:25I am great when I have other
- 5:27people on here with me.
- 5:28I think that is where I'm better,
- 5:30asking questions, telling stories,
- 5:33bouncing things back and forth.
- 5:35But to sit here and look
- 5:36into a camera and just talk
- 5:38to you all was something that was very,
- 5:41very uncomfortable for me.
- 5:43So the reason I started this show,
- 5:45it was solely,
- 5:47solely to get more
- 5:48comfortable sitting here in
- 5:50front of a camera talking to you.
- 5:54And that is... That's why I did it.
- 5:58I did it so that I would be
- 6:00able to jump on at a
- 6:01moment's notice if news
- 6:03broke in the CrossFit space
- 6:05and come on here and talk to people.
- 6:09I work from home.
- 6:12My podcast studio is in my basement.
- 6:14I can run down here quickly.
- 6:16Everything is set up.
- 6:17I just have to turn it all
- 6:19on when I come down here.
- 6:20And...
- 6:23And so that's why I started.
- 6:25I didn't think many people
- 6:26would listen to me at lunch.
- 6:27I didn't think that this
- 6:28would be a time where
- 6:29people would come in and hang out.
- 6:31I just was doing it for practice,
- 6:33getting reps in so that I
- 6:38could do those types of things.
- 6:40And what it's turned out to
- 6:41be is something bigger than that.
- 6:44The audience that this is
- 6:45pulling in is much bigger
- 6:45than I ever thought it would be.
- 6:47I thought I'd have ten or
- 6:48twelve people on here,
- 6:50and I've got twenty-two
- 6:51people live in here right now.
- 6:53Um,
- 6:54the last few weeks been pulling in a
- 6:56couple hundred views a day,
- 6:58which is blowing my mind
- 7:01because there's never an agenda to this,
- 7:03this lunch.
- 7:04It is, I wake up in the morning.
- 7:06I kind of see what's been happening.
- 7:09I write down some notes on a little tablet,
- 7:11um,
- 7:11basically just like this of things
- 7:15that I want to talk about.
- 7:17And, and that's what I do.
- 7:20I don't even set up the show
- 7:22until the morning because I
- 7:23don't even know what to
- 7:24make of the rundown because
- 7:26I don't know what I'm going
- 7:27to talk about until the day of the show.
- 7:29And I know like when Corey
- 7:30comes on on Wednesdays,
- 7:32he kind of makes fun of me
- 7:33because I never have the
- 7:35show ready and the link
- 7:36ready for him because I
- 7:37never know what we're going
- 7:38to talk about.
- 7:41So Jay Birch, we're here to talk to you.
- 7:47Denise, I'm addicted,
- 7:48but I'm usually at work.
- 7:49Nine fifteen here.
- 7:53I train to live now.
- 7:54I have something to look
- 7:54forward to during the day besides gym.
- 7:58Denise, every rep counts.
- 7:59It does.
- 8:02Judy Reed,
- 8:03I love it when I join and see my
- 8:04husband in here, too.
- 8:06You guys need to meet up somewhere.
- 8:10uh by the way how the fire
- 8:12alarm day workout did the
- 8:14trucks come to put out your
- 8:16wife's lunch uh the we
- 8:17actually got a hold of the
- 8:18fire department before they
- 8:20came uh but that is
- 8:21actually odd they've been
- 8:22here several times um and
- 8:26then I try to meet them at
- 8:27the street so they don't
- 8:28pull up and have to do a
- 8:29bunch of things um but they
- 8:30did not come that day thank goodness
- 8:37Jose, even though it's not my lunch,
- 8:39I still watch it.
- 8:42And Corey says,
- 8:43he never knows what we're
- 8:44going to talk about, but God,
- 8:45we have fun.
- 8:46We do.
- 8:52And you engage a lot with the viewers too.
- 8:54Yeah, that's kind of what this is about.
- 8:56It's truly in my head.
- 8:58It's hanging out with my
- 8:59friends to take a break
- 9:01from my work day to just kind of
- 9:05Empty the cabinet space, start fresh,
- 9:09and go back to the rest of the afternoon.
- 9:14And I love that.
- 9:19So, yeah,
- 9:21I was really surprised to hear
- 9:23that said this morning.
- 9:26Very flattered by that.
- 9:28And really, I just wanted to be...
- 9:38I just wanted to be more
- 9:39like Sivan in that aspect.
- 9:41I love the fact he can jump
- 9:42on and just talk into a camera.
- 9:45And that's what I was trying to do.
- 9:46I was trying to do reps to
- 9:48make it so that was
- 9:49possible and not need
- 9:51someone else here to talk
- 9:53to directly if news broke
- 9:56or anything like that.
- 9:59So that's what it's for.
- 10:00And it's turned into way more than that.
- 10:02And I am so appreciative of
- 10:03each and every one of you.
- 10:09to every one of you who come
- 10:11here hang out have comments
- 10:13um and speak your mind
- 10:16because that's that's
- 10:17what's cool uh trying to
- 10:23live I'm so sad when
- 10:24there's no scott on
- 10:25saturdays but I know you need a life too
- 10:28Yeah,
- 10:28Saturdays have kind of just become a
- 10:31family day.
- 10:32And then we Sunday like.
- 10:35So this is my Saturday
- 10:37morning is I get up before
- 10:38everybody else in the in
- 10:41the in Saturday morning and
- 10:44I work on the show for Sunday night.
- 10:47I build the rundown.
- 10:48I build the thumbnail.
- 10:51I get all the notes together
- 10:52for everybody.
- 10:53I make a Google document
- 10:54that everybody can share.
- 10:56And then that's set up for Sunday.
- 10:59And then the whole weekend
- 11:00is really a lot of news
- 11:02breaks for some reason on the weekend.
- 11:04It's
- 11:05Editing, moving,
- 11:07shaping the rundown for the
- 11:10following Sunday show.
- 11:12And that's what my Saturdays are.
- 11:15That show takes way more
- 11:16work than this one.
- 11:19This one is just jot down
- 11:20some notes on a notepad, come down,
- 11:23let's talk.
- 11:24So enough about me and this show.
- 11:28I'm just very appreciative
- 11:29that you are all here and
- 11:31love the fact that we get
- 11:31to chat and talk and I get
- 11:33a break from my day.
- 11:36Terry, new listener, thank you for coming.
- 11:39I hope you enjoy the show.
- 11:43I want to talk about quickly
- 11:45some Metfix stuff.
- 11:46I know that's shocking to everybody.
- 11:50Sunday night we had a brief
- 11:52discussion about it.
- 11:53Yesterday we talked about it
- 11:54more in Athena's article
- 11:56from yesterday or from a
- 11:57couple days before and how
- 11:59it kind of straightened me out.
- 12:01There's more about Athena
- 12:02that's in this story that
- 12:04came out this morning.
- 12:06It was,
- 12:06I think it's in Morning Chalk Up again.
- 12:09She writes a story where she
- 12:10was offered a lot of money
- 12:12to not say the name
- 12:13CrossFit and to come on
- 12:14board to promote Metfix.
- 12:19In the comments of her post on Instagram,
- 12:22there's a lot of back and
- 12:23forth between her and Emily
- 12:25Kaplan talking about what
- 12:29the truth was in that conversation.
- 12:33I've been a friend with
- 12:34Athena for a very long time.
- 12:36I am going to side with my friend.
- 12:38I have a bias there.
- 12:39I will admit that.
- 12:42And for the moment,
- 12:44that's where my allegiance lies.
- 12:46And the reason that I'm even
- 12:48stronger about that is, um, yesterday,
- 12:50Andrew Hiller took some
- 12:53things I said on Sunday night,
- 12:56clip them together with
- 12:57some things that I said
- 12:59yesterday and made an IgE video.
- 13:02And I'm going to show that
- 13:03to you briefly just for context.
- 13:09So here is the IgE video.
- 13:15that Andrew Hiller made.
- 13:17If you guys... Have you seen
- 13:20a single piece of content
- 13:21posted on Metfix's page
- 13:24that isn't stripped from
- 13:25Savant's podcast?
- 13:26I have not.
- 13:27Because I looked a lot.
- 13:30I just wish Greg would say
- 13:34his true feelings about what it is.
- 13:39And say, like,
- 13:40I believe in the broken science.
- 13:42That is where I'm at.
- 13:43That is what my...
- 13:47My passion is to fight
- 13:49against the evils that are
- 13:51out there in the world
- 13:53trying to give bad science.
- 13:56That's what his passion is.
- 13:59I don't think he wants to
- 14:00get nitty gritty about this.
- 14:03And I wish he'd just say it.
- 14:06So that was put out yesterday.
- 14:10And...
- 14:14and so I I was kind of
- 14:16surprised by it because I
- 14:17wasn't tagged in it um I
- 14:19didn't know andrew was
- 14:21gonna do that um I actually
- 14:24corey sent it to me that's
- 14:26how I figured out that it
- 14:27was even out there um but
- 14:30it's cool to be the morgan
- 14:31freeman or the james earl
- 14:32jones narrating a hiller video uh
- 14:37that would be a dream of
- 14:38mine to be that narrator of
- 14:41really cool content.
- 14:43So that was cool.
- 14:45And I shared it to my story.
- 14:46I thought it was a very well
- 14:48done video after the things
- 14:49that we've talked about.
- 14:51But in all honesty,
- 14:52all reels are kind of a
- 14:54reduction of a full
- 14:56conversation that we've had
- 14:58on two separate shows.
- 15:01So part was clipped from Sunday night show,
- 15:03part was clipped from yesterday's show,
- 15:04kind of pieced together to
- 15:05make this reel.
- 15:09I posted to my story.
- 15:10Didn't think much of it.
- 15:12Went on with my day.
- 15:15Last night, it's about... Yeah, Corey.
- 15:21I'm sure that's what everybody's thinking.
- 15:23Scott Smooth, baritone,
- 15:24narrating a Hiller reel.
- 15:26Yeah.
- 15:29So that... Didn't think anything of it.
- 15:32Last night, I go to go to bed.
- 15:35And...
- 15:38All of a sudden,
- 15:39my phone just starts blowing up.
- 15:45And I'm going to share this.
- 15:53And this comes from
- 15:57my in this is my instagram
- 15:59messenger and as you can
- 16:01see up here at the top it
- 16:02says metfix so this is from
- 16:05the metfix account um on
- 16:08instagram and I get this
- 16:10video from broken science
- 16:13and a message saying just
- 16:15curious how you missed all
- 16:16the clip calls of greg
- 16:17talking to metfix affiliates
- 16:20Do you think Greg should answer to Hiller?
- 16:22A little confusing to hear you say this.
- 16:24The entitlement is off the charts.
- 16:26Greg is focused on our community,
- 16:27speaking to affiliates,
- 16:29speaking at our seminars,
- 16:31inviting attendees of the
- 16:32seminars to his house.
- 16:34It's like people want to see
- 16:35his time card.
- 16:39So I've never met Emily.
- 16:42The only person from Metfix
- 16:43that I've even talked to is Pete Shaw.
- 16:47And I have said, through the two shows,
- 16:49I am very,
- 16:50very confused as to what it is.
- 16:52And I was trying to figure
- 16:54out what the hell was going on.
- 16:57And if you listen to the
- 16:58full context of where those
- 17:00clips were drawn from,
- 17:02you would see that...
- 17:06I was confused and I was
- 17:07trying to figure it out and
- 17:09when I asked pete shaw your
- 17:10director of education he
- 17:13said we like to keep it a
- 17:14little bit confusing
- 17:15because we want you to dig
- 17:17in more and we want you to
- 17:18find more still this is
- 17:21just the beginning this is
- 17:22just what the the initial
- 17:26Intro to the conversation was last night.
- 17:29And then I get this video, this video,
- 17:32this video, this video, this video,
- 17:37this video, this video, this video,
- 17:41this video, this video, blah, blah, blah,
- 17:44blah, blah.
- 17:48and then finishes up with
- 17:49not sure how you looked and
- 17:50saw none of this but it's
- 17:53offense to greg for people
- 17:54to say he's not involved
- 17:56medfix is a part of broken
- 17:57science there is no
- 17:58separation just as the
- 18:00medical society the book
- 18:02imprint and other efforts
- 18:03are part of the work so I
- 18:09went through I have not
- 18:10gone through all these
- 18:10videos I work a full-time
- 18:12job during the day so I
- 18:14didn't have time to go through everything
- 18:17And the first three that
- 18:19I've clicked on say nothing about Metfix.
- 18:23It is all Greg talking about
- 18:25broken science.
- 18:26And what I said, even in that clip,
- 18:30was if Greg's true passion
- 18:33is broken science and
- 18:35talking about where we've
- 18:36gone wrong in science,
- 18:37can you believe the science?
- 18:40Does that make sense to you?
- 18:43then that's fine.
- 18:45I just wish he would clear it up himself.
- 18:48That was all I was asking for.
- 18:50He could get rid of all of
- 18:52this drama if he came out and said,
- 18:56I am Greg Glassman.
- 18:58I believe in Metfix.
- 18:59I believe in the people behind Metfix.
- 19:01And I do believe they add
- 19:04value to the ecosystem and
- 19:07you should support them.
- 19:09And if he said that,
- 19:10all this drama would be wiped clean.
- 19:14But he's not saying that.
- 19:18And that's fine if that's... I guess,
- 19:23but...
- 19:27This is exactly what overcompensate much.
- 19:32Oh, wow, that's a little over the top.
- 19:34Seems like Metfix people are
- 19:36getting super defensive.
- 19:37Yeah,
- 19:38why are you defending this so hard
- 19:41over a clip that was put into a reel?
- 19:45And all of a sudden,
- 19:45you're coming at me like this,
- 19:47and you come at me hard in
- 19:48the first paragraph of the DM article.
- 19:54And I had been working for a
- 19:55week trying to understand what you do,
- 19:58why you're different,
- 19:59what you're trying to accomplish.
- 20:01And the one person I talked to said,
- 20:04we want to be confusing to
- 20:05make you dig harder.
- 20:07Well,
- 20:07I'm a person who was over five
- 20:09hundred pounds.
- 20:10If you want me to dig harder for nutrition,
- 20:13you've lost me already.
- 20:16I'm gone.
- 20:19I need someone to love on me
- 20:20and bring me in,
- 20:22not make it harder for me.
- 20:26And what in the world has science,
- 20:29talking about the science of everything,
- 20:31done to help people lose weight?
- 20:35You got to show me how.
- 20:43Andrew Sten says,
- 20:45he's probably funding it
- 20:46and they are using his research,
- 20:47et cetera,
- 20:48but doubt he'll come out and
- 20:49clearly say anything.
- 20:51That's not his style, it seems.
- 20:56It also seems like he has...
- 21:00There are clips of him
- 21:01saying nothing has changed
- 21:03in twenty years for him.
- 21:04It is the same thing.
- 21:06And his passion is about...
- 21:08And we don't have anybody
- 21:11like him in the space.
- 21:12His passion is about going
- 21:14after big sugar.
- 21:15It's about going after big soda.
- 21:17It's about defending...
- 21:20defending what is right and
- 21:23what is real in getting
- 21:25people up off the couch and
- 21:28doing what they need to do
- 21:30to fight morbid obesity.
- 21:35And that's what worked for
- 21:36me in two thousand eleven.
- 21:41That's where that's what
- 21:42worked for Athena in two
- 21:43thousand fourteen or whenever that was.
- 21:47It was getting up off the couch, moving,
- 21:50going to a CrossFit gym,
- 21:51getting loved on by that
- 21:52affiliate community,
- 21:55learning about nutrition
- 21:56through your coaches,
- 21:59using the teachings of Greg Glassman.
- 22:06What didn't help me lose
- 22:07weight was someone standing
- 22:09at a whiteboard telling me
- 22:11where all this came from
- 22:12and what all this meant.
- 22:15I get it.
- 22:16It defends it.
- 22:17It makes it true,
- 22:20but it doesn't help me
- 22:22directly lose weight.
- 22:24And that's the part they're missing.
- 22:27And I've gone now from
- 22:29confused to after all of this stuff going,
- 22:36I don't even care what
- 22:37Mephix has to say anymore.
- 22:43Come at me like this hard.
- 22:45Why?
- 22:47Who am I?
- 22:55Eat less, move more,
- 22:56no big science involved.
- 23:01The barrage of videos and
- 23:02DMs is going to backfire on Metfix.
- 23:08Andrew said, people don't want hard.
- 23:09Simple is good.
- 23:10Doesn't mean it has to be easy,
- 23:12but keeping it simple is
- 23:13better than getting people involved.
- 23:20Yes.
- 23:21Nothing is easy in weight loss.
- 23:23It is all hard.
- 23:26Don't make accessing the
- 23:27information hard on top of it.
- 23:34The only thing that Pete
- 23:35brought to the interview
- 23:36that I did that was
- 23:38different and new and
- 23:39supposedly changed the
- 23:41order of the fitness in a
- 23:47hundred words was this
- 23:49flexible metabolic flexibility.
- 23:56That's what it was.
- 23:59I know Cheryl did a show on
- 24:00that this morning on this channel,
- 24:02Cheryl Nassau.
- 24:04Um,
- 24:05I'm going to go watch that this
- 24:06afternoon and see what she
- 24:08has to say that, that, uh, to that.
- 24:11Uh,
- 24:12cause I'm anxious to find out what her
- 24:13thoughts are on that.
- 24:15There's a lot of conflicting
- 24:16information as to whether
- 24:18that metabolic flexibility
- 24:20is a valid way to, to lose weight.
- 24:25Um,
- 24:27And you can actually see
- 24:28people that show that what
- 24:30they're using to prove it
- 24:32are the things that Greg
- 24:33Glassman has warned us
- 24:34against in Broken Science.
- 24:37And I think if that
- 24:39continues to go down that direction,
- 24:42Greg will have no choice
- 24:45but to either remove
- 24:46himself from that equation.
- 24:49because it's not what he believes.
- 24:51And the broken science part
- 24:53is that the piece that he
- 24:55doesn't believe in or does
- 24:57believe in hard.
- 24:58And it's going to be anxious
- 24:59to see how that comes
- 25:01together through this whole thing.
- 25:07New subscriber here.
- 25:08Do they go after Hiller?
- 25:09They've been going after Hiller too,
- 25:13but Hiller has been going back.
- 25:15Like he's not backing down.
- 25:24Corey Leonard, simple,
- 25:25not easy is a thing that
- 25:27MedFix doesn't seem to have
- 25:28learned or leaned into.
- 25:30That is correct.
- 25:36But you can go to their Instagram.
- 25:38I'm not showing you stuff
- 25:41that you can't see.
- 25:43You can go to their Instagram,
- 25:45go down and watch some of
- 25:46the Greg videos.
- 25:48A majority of them are
- 25:50ripped directly from a Savant podcast.
- 25:53There are others that they
- 25:54have definitely demonstrated to me,
- 25:56have come from other things,
- 25:58but the content in them is
- 25:59not about Metfix.
- 26:01It's about his broken science initiative.
- 26:04It is about the things he
- 26:05has been preaching in the
- 26:07CrossFit space for many, many years.
- 26:10Nothing in there is new and
- 26:15different from what Greg
- 26:18has been preaching.
- 26:20And Andrew Hiller and
- 26:24Taylor Self had been saying
- 26:25that for weeks.
- 26:27I was hardheaded and it took
- 26:28me a little bit longer to see it.
- 26:30But now it is obvious to me
- 26:31that that is exactly what's going on.
- 26:40Corey Leonard,
- 26:41I would venture to say that
- 26:42most people would
- 26:43appreciate the science
- 26:44broken down to them like
- 26:45they're five years old.
- 26:46I know I would.
- 26:48I know I asked Pete to do
- 26:49that in that interview.
- 26:52I was losing you guys in the chat.
- 26:54Jody was like, this is rough.
- 26:56And she showed me she has PTSD still.
- 27:00And I asked him to simplify it.
- 27:01And he said,
- 27:03the beauty of not simplifying
- 27:04it is it forces people to
- 27:05go look for more and learn
- 27:07more on their own.
- 27:08and that is not how you're
- 27:11going to affect change in
- 27:13the world let's make things
- 27:16so confusing that people go
- 27:19dig in themselves find the
- 27:21research themselves and
- 27:23they'll figure it out and
- 27:24then they'll see that it's
- 27:26the way to go there's no
- 27:28guarantee they're going to
- 27:29go in the right direction
- 27:31You know how much BS is on
- 27:33the internet that they're
- 27:35going to have to sift
- 27:35through and you're just
- 27:37hoping that they find your science?
- 27:42I don't know.
- 27:44I knew coming into this show,
- 27:46I was going to be cranky.
- 27:48I knew it was going to be a
- 27:50riffy type show.
- 27:52It was going to be a riff.
- 27:53So that's where we're at.
- 27:57Aaron, you are so right.
- 28:00There is so much BS out
- 28:01there to sift through right now.
- 28:09Train to live.
- 28:09When it comes to nutrition,
- 28:10most people won't deep dive and go look.
- 28:13They will see what is easy
- 28:14to find and digest.
- 28:20Andrew Sten,
- 28:20I already did undergrad and grad school.
- 28:22I'm past the point of doing
- 28:23tons and tons of research.
- 28:25No time for that.
- 28:27When here's the fact of the matter, right?
- 28:29I start CrossFit, two thousand eleven,
- 28:32five hundred pounds.
- 28:33I lose two hundred and fifty pounds.
- 28:37I get down to two fifty and
- 28:39then I start getting into
- 28:40these back injuries in two
- 28:42thousand sixteen, two thousand seventeen,
- 28:44two thousand eighteen.
- 28:46And then I start diving for other answers,
- 28:49like if I can't work out as hard,
- 28:51what am I going to do?
- 28:52And then I start like cross
- 28:53bleeding all these
- 28:54different nutrition things
- 28:55and I get them all mixed up
- 28:57in my head and I gain back
- 28:58one hundred pounds.
- 29:01Well, now what am I going to do?
- 29:04And now I'm stuck.
- 29:08And then I get into
- 29:09depression and then it
- 29:10compounds and then it gets worse.
- 29:13I've been down the rabbit
- 29:14hole of trying to figure it
- 29:15out on my own.
- 29:17I should have kept it simple.
- 29:19I think that's the biggest
- 29:20thing I have learned this
- 29:21week is keep this shit simple.
- 29:25Just do what you know is best.
- 29:32And that's what I need.
- 29:34And so if anything good that
- 29:37has come out of this week
- 29:38is keep this shit simple.
- 29:45Move as much as you can.
- 29:47I'm fifty five years old.
- 29:49I can't move like I could
- 29:50when I was forty.
- 29:51I move as much as I can do
- 29:53the best I can push myself
- 29:55as hard as I can and then
- 29:58eat what I know is good.
- 30:02I know if what putting into
- 30:04my body is going to fuel my
- 30:07body and what is going to
- 30:09make it feel like shit.
- 30:22A clock.
- 30:22I will never read another
- 30:23journal article again.
- 30:25Well, maybe if my life depends on it.
- 30:28think there's some good
- 30:29stuff in the journal I
- 30:30think there's like the the
- 30:32really early stuff the
- 30:34really early stuff I think
- 30:36is good but there's a lot
- 30:41of stuff in there that's as
- 30:45time went on that got
- 30:46confusing um amanda fillers
- 30:49people already want a quick
- 30:51fix for a pill trying to
- 30:52teach proper nutrition is
- 30:53hard enough why make it
- 30:55even more complicated
- 30:58And COO one kiss.
- 31:01That is keep it simple.
- 31:02Stupid.
- 31:07Clock.
- 31:08I meant academic journals.
- 31:10Okay, now I'm on board with you.
- 31:11One hundred percent.
- 31:13You got me.
- 31:19Lito says, Scott, you should get E.C.
- 31:20Sienkowski on the podcast.
- 31:23No one better to simplify
- 31:24nutrition than her, in my opinion.
- 31:30I can see about that.
- 31:34So, yeah,
- 31:34I just wanted to share with you
- 31:36my last twenty four hours,
- 31:38all from being the Morgan
- 31:40Freeman of a Hiller video.
- 31:41I am now being.
- 31:45Hit by Metfix from all
- 31:46angles with about whatever that was,
- 31:50twenty seven videos of Greg.
- 31:56I think at some point.
- 32:01I'll go look and see if any
- 32:05of these talk about med fix
- 32:07out of his mouth.
- 32:08So what, what is here is like,
- 32:11and I'll just show this one
- 32:12little piece and then I'll, I'll get off,
- 32:14get off of this.
- 32:16So like they shared this post,
- 32:18which actually comes from
- 32:19the broken science initiative, IG,
- 32:22not the med fix.
- 32:24So
- 32:25What you have here is a quote from Greg.
- 32:29The deal is this.
- 32:30These are dependent
- 32:31variables of lifestyle choices,
- 32:33and we've identified that sedentarism,
- 32:37too much time on the couch,
- 32:39and excessive consumption
- 32:40of refined carbohydrates.
- 32:43Okay, that is the quote from Greg.
- 32:45We've heard him say that a million times.
- 32:47I will tell you that is Greg speaking.
- 32:53But then they add around
- 32:54this a Metfix logo.
- 32:56They add in Greg Glassman,
- 32:58twenty twenty four on the
- 32:59failure of public health
- 33:01and the metabolic fix.
- 33:04Yes, it is the fix to fix your metabolism,
- 33:09the metabolic fix,
- 33:10but metabolic fix and
- 33:12Metfix are not the same thing.
- 33:17I'm telling you,
- 33:18you cannot find things
- 33:19where he actually names Metfix.
- 33:22I'm sure there are a few out
- 33:24there because I'm sure when I say this,
- 33:26they're going to find them
- 33:27and they're going to send them to me.
- 33:30But when I looked at the first three, four,
- 33:35five of these that came,
- 33:36none of them mentioned Metfix.
- 33:38They were all stuff talking
- 33:39about his broken science thoughts.
- 33:48Denise Moore.
- 33:49Wow.
- 33:49Scott,
- 33:49you've had some highs and lows in
- 33:51the last twenty four hours.
- 33:52You're amazing.
- 33:53And we love your efforts to
- 33:54bring us the truth.
- 33:56I'm just I'm just sharing my life.
- 33:59That's what I'm not here is
- 34:00like a truth teller or that
- 34:03I'm any better than anybody else.
- 34:06I'm just sharing with you
- 34:08what I'm going through in my life.
- 34:10And that's all I know how to do.
- 34:15But that's that's just an example.
- 34:21But maybe tomorrow, when Corey's on,
- 34:23I'll pull up a couple of the videos.
- 34:25I'll tag a couple of them to find out.
- 34:28And I'll try to go through
- 34:28as many of them as I can to
- 34:29see if any of them actually
- 34:31talk about Metfix.
- 34:32And then I will have you
- 34:33with a hundred percent
- 34:34certainty whether this is or isn't.
- 34:43Jay Birch coming in with the big words.
- 34:45It's really testing me out today.
- 34:47All Greg wants to do is
- 34:49write a course to teach
- 34:51epistemology and nature of science.
- 34:55I hope I said epistemology correctly.
- 34:58Again, Jay Birch, science,
- 35:00worst subject in high school.
- 35:07Just saying.
- 35:09Give me some math problems,
- 35:10I'll knock them out of the park.
- 35:13Okay, I did.
- 35:14I said it right.
- 35:15I feel better now.
- 35:17All right.
- 35:18So my last riff of the day is,
- 35:21I don't know if you guys have seen this,
- 35:24but we had another drug failing.
- 35:28And that drug failing was...
- 35:33Jack Monahan from the Torian
- 35:35pro tested positive for, uh,
- 35:40all this stuff down here.
- 35:41Uh, three, a hydroxy to a methyl five,
- 35:44a understand.
- 35:47A metabolite of Drosten Drosten alone,
- 35:51but none of that's important.
- 35:54Um, what's important is, um, down here,
- 35:59it says it's the same thing
- 36:00that Phil tune tested for.
- 36:02I don't know if you guys can
- 36:03see that right there.
- 36:04Phil Toon is one of the
- 36:05athletes who tested for the same thing.
- 36:08And so on the barbell spin,
- 36:10and this is all from the barbell spin,
- 36:12please go check them out.
- 36:13Of course, best news source in the space.
- 36:17Always bring in the latest
- 36:18and greatest stuff.
- 36:20But go check out.
- 36:21So on their Instagram,
- 36:23I was there and I made a joke.
- 36:26I made a joke that this guy
- 36:29couldn't possibly,
- 36:31and I need to pull this up one more time.
- 36:33Cause I got it.
- 36:35Okay.
- 36:37I made a joke.
- 36:38Is there a picture of him?
- 36:40There's not a pic.
- 36:41Come on.
- 36:43Maybe it's back at a page.
- 36:48So right there is the guy, right?
- 36:50Look at that.
- 36:51The luscious lock of hair or
- 36:54luscious head of hair.
- 36:56When Phil Toon tested
- 36:58positive for this drug,
- 37:00his excuse was that it was
- 37:02there to help him with hair loss.
- 37:08And I just made the comment
- 37:09that this guy must not be
- 37:17on the same thing Phil Toon
- 37:18is because he has a full head of hair.
- 37:20And I did not tag Phil Toon in my comment.
- 37:25And I got hit up by the
- 37:28internet police who feel
- 37:30like it's their
- 37:31responsibility to make sure
- 37:33everything is done in a
- 37:35fair and equitable way.
- 37:38What's funny is the person
- 37:39that hit me up is in the CrossFit space.
- 37:41I don't know who they are.
- 37:44They claim to be a media person.
- 37:47And all they do are grab
- 37:48other people's Instagram
- 37:50posts and share them.
- 37:51They don't post anything of
- 37:52their own ever.
- 37:55And I said it was a slight oversight.
- 37:57I know Phil Toon.
- 37:57I've talked to Phil a ton of times.
- 37:59I've interviewed him on this show.
- 38:01phil has a great sense of
- 38:02humor over this whole thing
- 38:04and he actually came back
- 38:06with a response that was
- 38:08that he laughed at and he
- 38:11says he doesn't have any
- 38:12hair anymore and with a big
- 38:14laughing emoji right why do
- 38:18people feel like they have
- 38:19to be the internet police
- 38:21like oh my god you didn't
- 38:22tag phil toon in this shade
- 38:24that you threw at him
- 38:26My God,
- 38:27Phil Toon's been thrown so much shade.
- 38:28That little joke that I was
- 38:29telling was so minor.
- 38:31Are you freaking kidding me?
- 38:33How about get a life?
- 38:38Just ridiculous.
- 38:44Trying to live.
- 38:45People are such babies.
- 38:47Scott making enemies in the IG comments.
- 38:49Yeah, that's me.
- 38:57So Barbell Spence's Halpin
- 38:59is the copyright police of IG.
- 39:01This time it wasn't Halpin.
- 39:03This time it was somebody else.
- 39:06The one thing I will say for
- 39:07Halpin as opposed to this
- 39:09person is Halpin actually
- 39:10produces his own content at times.
- 39:13This person never produces
- 39:14his own content.
- 39:16He just screen grabs
- 39:17everybody else's stuff and
- 39:18shares it like his own.
- 39:24But
- 39:26That was something that
- 39:27really got me in a pissy
- 39:29mood yesterday because it was just a joke,
- 39:32man.
- 39:33Come on.
- 39:34Why are we so sensitive these days?
- 39:37Phil Toon had to know when
- 39:39he said that the damn drugs
- 39:40were to help him with hair
- 39:41loss that he was going to
- 39:43get ridiculed for that for
- 39:44the rest of his life.
- 39:52What a freaking joke.
- 39:55Anyway.
- 39:56And Phil laughs about it to this day.
- 39:58Like, Phil gets it.
- 39:59He screwed up.
- 40:05I'll say the people in the
- 40:06chat are pretty much dead on.
- 40:08I'm not going to pull it up,
- 40:09but you guys are dead on.
- 40:16so anyway with that guys
- 40:20it's been a fun quick forty
- 40:22minutes um glad you guys
- 40:24are with us every each and
- 40:26every day uh it's so much
- 40:27fun doing this and getting
- 40:29away from the work day just
- 40:30for a quick hour lunch hour
- 40:32and clear the senses get
- 40:35back on track and uh I'm so
- 40:37glad you're all here love
- 40:38you all but you
- 40:40knuckleheads need to get
- 40:41back to work and I do too
- 40:42with that we'll see
- 40:43everybody next time lunch
- 40:45with the clydesdale
