- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:11Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:15Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. This time of week, we got a guest
- 0:22Speaker 1: joining us. Check him out. It's Merrill, the Kid Merrill, man. Like,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I lose track of what everything is. It's the Victory
- 0:28Speaker 1: Light podcast. I just feel like at this point, you
- 0:31Speaker 1: are your own freestanding entity.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Bro, I'm not a businessman. I'm a businessman. You know
- 0:37Speaker 2: what I'm saying? To go home. But now, you know,
- 0:41Speaker 2: we got it. Listen, like I always say, bro, I
- 0:43Speaker 2: got four kids and two mortgages. I got to stay
- 0:46Speaker 2: in motion. You know, if a shark stops swimming, they die.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So we got to keep the motion in.
- 0:54Speaker 1: You are definitely operating on the, this is a long-term
- 0:58Speaker 1: game program. It's like my daddy's argument for shopping and
- 1:01Speaker 1: getting gas at the cheap places. It's not about one tank.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It's about a lifetime behavior of getting tanks and then
- 1:08Speaker 1: eventually snack your bread.
- 1:10Speaker 2: That's it. That's it. That's all, man. I'm just out
- 1:12Speaker 2: here trying to get it. So we got Victory Light.
- 1:14Speaker 2: We got 7 p.m. You know what I mean? We
- 1:16Speaker 2: got According to the Kid. We got, you know what
- 1:18Speaker 2: I'm saying? I'm writing a book of essays about fatherhood,
- 1:21Speaker 2: you know, because I got way too many kids to count.
- 1:24Speaker 2: You know, so it's a lot of content coming from
- 1:26Speaker 2: your boy.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I'm going to be honest with you, brother. You're going
- 1:30Speaker 1: to have to earn the I'm going to listen to
- 1:33Speaker 1: Mero about being somebody's daddy. Like when that book comes out,
- 1:38Speaker 1: send me the copy. Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Oh, for sure. You get in the galley. Don't worry
- 1:42Speaker 2: about that. But it's like, it's more, it's more like
- 1:45Speaker 2: observational stuff. It's not a manual. Don't get it twisted.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Cause I tried to do that. And then I was like,
- 1:49Speaker 2: you know what?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Let's pivot away from this because I'm probably, I mean,
- 1:53Speaker 3: I get very good advice about being a dad, but
- 1:57Speaker 3: you know, it's, it's outside the box thinking, you know
- 2:01Speaker 3: what I'm saying?
- 2:03Speaker 2: You're not going to find my advice. I have no reason.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, like I have no reason to think that you're
- 2:09Speaker 1: not good at dadding, right? I just don't have that
- 2:13Speaker 1: many reasons to assume that you are. And that's not about,
- 2:16Speaker 1: that's as much about me as anything else. You know
- 2:18Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Like you have to admit you have
- 2:20Speaker 1: built a brand that does not imply that we should
- 2:22Speaker 1: be leaving kids with you.
- 2:26Speaker 2: But, hey, I'm the fun uncle, except when I'm your dad,
- 2:28Speaker 2: it's 24-7. You know what I mean? Right.
- 2:33Speaker 1: See, there we go. And now we have hit on,
- 2:36Speaker 1: now I want to read this book so bad. Like,
- 2:38Speaker 1: now I'm in. The homie Roy Woods got a book
- 2:40Speaker 1: about fatherhood and what he learned from different men. in
- 2:44Speaker 1: his life, and we're hoping to get him on to
- 2:46Speaker 1: talk about that. And so that could be an interesting juxtaposition.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Roy the dad versus Mero the dad. We always ought
- 2:52Speaker 1: to have you guys together doing a face-off sort of
- 2:55Speaker 1: thing on your parenting techniques based on what you picked
- 2:57Speaker 1: up in these streets.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Let's do it. All right.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Now, it is an interesting time, election week in New
- 3:05Speaker 1: York City, election on Tuesday, and This we are in
- 3:10Speaker 1: the midst of what for me, I've lived in a
- 3:12Speaker 1: lot of places now. I've lived in different regions of
- 3:15Speaker 1: the United States. I've never seen an election quite like
- 3:19Speaker 1: what's going on in New York City right now. And
- 3:21Speaker 1: I imagine a lot of you are familiar, which is
- 3:23Speaker 1: rare for an election in an odd number year. But
- 3:25Speaker 1: the mayor's race in New York is so interesting because
- 3:28Speaker 1: I feel like we all know who's going to win, right?
- 3:31Speaker 1: Zoran Mamdani is going to win. He did the hard
- 3:35Speaker 1: work early. He is going to win. I've never seen
- 3:39Speaker 1: more people more terrified of a diminutive South Asian man
- 3:45Speaker 1: that I have seen with people being... terrified of what
- 3:49Speaker 1: is going to happen if this dude wins oh my
- 3:52Speaker 1: goodness it is the wildest like you you are from
- 3:55Speaker 1: new york you lived around here forever you've seen giuliani
- 3:59Speaker 1: win elections like you've seen a lot of things this
- 4:02Speaker 1: this is different right it's.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It's different because it's like this there's like an energy
- 4:08Speaker 2: you know what i mean like that's like like just
- 4:11Speaker 2: like permeating like the city, right? Like you said, like
- 4:14Speaker 2: there's the side of people that are terrified and there's
- 4:17Speaker 2: a side of people that are like hopeful and are like, man, listen,
- 4:21Speaker 2: we've been doing the same shit for I don't know
- 4:24Speaker 2: how many years and it ain't got us nowhere. So
- 4:27Speaker 2: let's try something different. You know what I mean? And
- 4:30Speaker 2: then you got a guy who's, you know, not an
- 4:32Speaker 2: establishment politician, bro, which I think is kind of like
- 4:36Speaker 2: a barometer for the nation. You know what I mean?
- 4:38Speaker 2: Like people are tired of like the same old guys.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Like I told Zoran, When we were doing a walk-in
- 4:44Speaker 2: talk and I was just like, listen, bro, the problem
- 4:47Speaker 2: is that a lot of people are just uninformed voters, man.
- 4:51Speaker 2: They're just uninformed, dog. And if you run a guy
- 4:54Speaker 2: who has the same last name as another guy who
- 4:57Speaker 2: was formerly in office, they'll just be like, all right, well,
- 5:00Speaker 2: I guess he knows what he's doing. Let me go
- 5:01Speaker 2: just check that box. And I told him, I was like, listen,
- 5:05Speaker 2: brand loyalty is great. for ketchup, for tires, you know
- 5:10Speaker 2: what I'm saying? For bobby pins, whatever you use, bonnets,
- 5:14Speaker 2: whatever you use. Not for people, not for politicians. You
- 5:18Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Just because my dad was a
- 5:20Speaker 2: great HVAC technician don't mean I'm going to come down
- 5:22Speaker 2: to your crib and fix your walk-in freezer. I don't
- 5:24Speaker 2: know what the fuck I'm doing in that regard. So,
- 5:27Speaker 2: you know what I mean? I think, like, with Cuomo,
- 5:29Speaker 2: it's crazy that you can have a guy... that failed
- 5:32Speaker 2: at governor, resigned, you know, like disgracefully. And then he's
- 5:37Speaker 2: trying to like do a, basically use the mayor, the
- 5:40Speaker 2: mayor's office as a PR campaign, four years of PR cleanup.
- 5:45Speaker 2: He's doing like the Saudi Arabia shit where he's just like, yo.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He's trying to get back. Yeah. He's trying to get back.
- 5:50Speaker 2: He's trying to like, you know.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Cuomo need to be in charge of something again. Like,
- 5:55Speaker 1: can you imagine what life has been to be around
- 5:57Speaker 1: him and he ain't had nothing to be in charge of?
- 5:59Speaker 1: I can only imagine how exhausting and insufferable he is.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Because look, man, you've seen these debates and stuff, man.
- 6:04Speaker 1: His heart ain't in it. He is not really trying
- 6:07Speaker 1: to do this, but he needs something to be in
- 6:11Speaker 1: charge of. But he clearly doesn't want to be the mayor.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You used to be the governor. Now you talk about
- 6:16Speaker 1: you want to be the mayor. You don't want to
- 6:18Speaker 1: be the mayor.
- 6:19Speaker 2: He don't. He just want to clean up his image,
- 6:21Speaker 2: be like, yo, I'm still a viable politician, y'all. Vote
- 6:23Speaker 2: for me. You know what I'm saying? And whatever, like
- 6:26Speaker 2: you said, like. Put me in charge of something. I
- 6:29Speaker 2: don't care if it's the North Shore Animal League, bro.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Put me in charge of something. You know what I mean?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Because I think Homie just has no marketable skills. And
- 6:37Speaker 2: as an elderly man with a pierced nipple, it's hard
- 6:40Speaker 2: to get a job out here.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot about the pierced nipple.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Crazy work.
- 6:45Speaker 1: That's still, that's absurd.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Crazy work. Bo, if I'm a single issue voter, a
- 6:53Speaker 2: nipple ring is going to get you out of that.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It's eliminating you from my contention.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Imagine what it's like for the ladies. Because look, some
- 7:04Speaker 1: of us know what it's like when you stumble upon,
- 7:08Speaker 1: oh shit, It's a ring there.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I don't know how that goes for women, though, when
- 7:15Speaker 1: this happens. Like, I don't feel like it's nearly as.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Intriguing as it is.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't know what it signals. I feel like, and honestly,
- 7:24Speaker 1: what it might signal to women is the exact opposite
- 7:27Speaker 1: thing of that which I wish to signal in that moment.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Thank you. You know what I'm saying? And that's the
- 7:32Speaker 2: other thing. The physiology of a woman's nipple is different
- 7:37Speaker 2: than that of a man's nipple. So for you to
- 7:40Speaker 2: get your nipple pierced as a woman is a lot easier.
- 7:43Speaker 2: There's more surface area of the nipple to account for.
- 7:48Speaker 2: So you mean to tell me that you got enough
- 7:50Speaker 2: nip to pierce and then you're going to go ahead
- 7:53Speaker 2: and do it. and follow through and be like, yo,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you know what? I got big nipples. You know what
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm going to do? I'm going to make them more
- 8:00Speaker 2: unsightly by putting a big-ass ring in them. That's crazy.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And then you're going to do a serious State of
- 8:06Speaker 2: the Union of the, you know, blah-bitty-blue, whatever's going on,
- 8:10Speaker 2: with that white polo and the nipple ring sticking through
- 8:12Speaker 2: looking crazy. I was like, oh, nah, man. This got
- 8:15Speaker 2: to stop. That's crazy, dog. Imagine the president started gauging
- 8:19Speaker 2: their ears or something like that, doing some different shit,
- 8:22Speaker 2: and you'd be like, bro, this is not... Hey, do
- 8:24Speaker 2: what you do. Live your life, man. But if you
- 8:27Speaker 2: running a government office, I don't want you with no
- 8:30Speaker 2: type of shit on your face and your titties, bro.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Leave that shit alone.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Well, hold on. This is what this is now making
- 8:38Speaker 1: me wonder is who out here, it could be a politics,
- 8:45Speaker 1: it could be a whole bunch of spaces, somebody got
- 8:50Speaker 1: like a nipple ring and we would be surprised to
- 8:52Speaker 1: find out that they got it, right? Or people who,
- 8:58Speaker 1: like how Kevin Durant has all those tattoos, but you
- 9:01Speaker 1: can't really see none of them. Right? Like, and I
- 9:05Speaker 1: have met somebody, shall we say, with the exact same setup.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You'd have no idea what kind of party it is
- 9:11Speaker 1: until the party actually begins, right? So somebody out there
- 9:16Speaker 1: got like a nipple ring and or more. Bro. That
- 9:21Speaker 1: we had not considered, had never known.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And when you say more.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And this has been, I mean, more. Like a lot more.
- 9:29Speaker 2: That could be anything.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Todo es posible, mi amigo. Todo es posible.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I'm telling you, man.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Like, think about that. Every time you see a politician, man,
- 9:44Speaker 1: they might have a nipple ring.
- 9:46Speaker 2: That's wild. Or more. Think about it. Think about you, like,
- 9:50Speaker 2: Clarence Thomas having a Prince Albert. I know you didn't
- 9:55Speaker 2: want to think about that. I know you didn't want
- 9:57Speaker 2: to think about that. I'm sorry, America. I'm sorry, the internet.
- 10:00Speaker 2: for putting that image in your brain. You know what
- 10:03Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 10:04Speaker 1: Well, the issue is not me thinking about it. It
- 10:08Speaker 1: is the invariable text that I know I'm going to
- 10:10Speaker 1: receive from my mother that says, what is a Prince
- 10:13Speaker 1: Albert question mark? Which I think I just guaranteed she
- 10:16Speaker 1: would send to me now that I've actually brought it up.
- 10:19Speaker 1: But that's still 100% on the board. And I'm going
- 10:22Speaker 1: to put her on a... No, I can't let you
- 10:24Speaker 1: tell her because you will. in capital letters, nevermind. I
- 10:27Speaker 1: was gonna like outsource that to you to give that explanation,
- 10:30Speaker 1: but actually, no, I can't allow that to happen at all.
- 10:33Speaker 2: That might ruin the holidays for you, Bo. I'm not
- 10:36Speaker 2: trying to do that to you.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'm in a terrible place right now. I'm in such
- 10:43Speaker 1: a terrible place. It's a dark mental place. Oh, my God.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Here's what we need to talk about, though. And this
- 10:50Speaker 1: is the thing. And if you have not followed the
- 10:52Speaker 1: mayor's race, have you followed anything the last four years
- 10:56Speaker 1: of the Eric Adams era? And I need to ask
- 10:58Speaker 1: you about this because Eric Adams once was trying to
- 11:01Speaker 1: get out of some trouble. And the quote he gave
- 11:03Speaker 1: was make sure the Dominicans know that Eric Adams is
- 11:06Speaker 1: the only mayor to ever hang out at the clubs
- 11:08Speaker 1: on Dykeman. And I was like, oh, man, this is
- 11:10Speaker 1: like he really made hanging out at spots that me
- 11:14Speaker 1: and you might not go to. That was part of
- 11:16Speaker 1: his mayoral strategy.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Fam, when I seen him smoking hookah with rappers, I said,
- 11:22Speaker 2: we are cooked. We are, this is over. It is over, over. Like,
- 11:29Speaker 2: when he got elected, I was like, yo, y'all elected
- 11:31Speaker 2: a party promoter to run the city. Good luck. Let's
- 11:35Speaker 2: see how these next four years turn out. Ladies free
- 11:37Speaker 2: before 11 at the Social Security office. Like, what is
- 11:41Speaker 2: going on? This dude was a, he was a walking meme.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Every city was the New York of that country. Yo,
- 11:49Speaker 2: it was crazy. He had like five catchphrases. He hung
- 11:53Speaker 2: out with Jim Jones. I'm like, yo, listen. I love
- 11:56Speaker 2: Jim Jones. That's my guy. I don't want my man
- 11:59Speaker 2: hanging out with Jim Jones. You know what I'm saying?
- 12:03Speaker 2: There might be some bad influences going on there. You
- 12:05Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Well, I want to say this.
- 12:08Speaker 1: In fairness to Adams on the... Blank is the New
- 12:13Speaker 1: York of blank that he did everywhere. This is very
- 12:17Speaker 1: similar to how Instagram make it to where people got
- 12:19Speaker 1: to spend way too much money on clothes. because once
- 12:22Speaker 1: it go on Instagram, it is there forever, and now
- 12:26Speaker 1: you can't wear this anywhere else, right? That's what happened
- 12:29Speaker 1: to him with this. We didn't always have access to
- 12:32Speaker 1: all this video that you could run it in a line,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and you could just spit that line over and over again,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and it would be okay, right?
- 12:40Speaker 2: It kind of hit.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Once people were able to chop that up, that's like
- 12:44Speaker 1: Kamala Harris had that one line, something about being unburdened,
- 12:47Speaker 1: and they found out that she had been saying that
- 12:49Speaker 1: all the time. Hey, man, if you got a line
- 12:51Speaker 1: that works, You got to lie networks. I've seen Dave
- 12:53Speaker 1: Chappelle live three or four times. And I think every
- 12:56Speaker 1: time I've seen him live, he has told the same
- 12:59Speaker 1: joke where somebody made reference to a little something, shall
- 13:03Speaker 1: we say, and asked him to describe, you know, to
- 13:06Speaker 1: describe it. And it was referred to as it's delicious.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And he was like, hey, that's not a way that
- 13:12Speaker 1: I imagine somebody would describe that thing. He's told it
- 13:15Speaker 1: every show I've seen him do it all over the
- 13:17Speaker 1: course of 20 years. It was funny every time. Like
- 13:20Speaker 1: sometimes you get a line and it works, baby.
- 13:22Speaker 2: That's it. You know, the only problem is that now
- 13:24Speaker 2: we got the internet and we got video, digital video,
- 13:27Speaker 2: and we got a lot of people that have editing
- 13:29Speaker 2: skills and can make these things that we in the
- 13:31Speaker 2: media industry call super cuts. You know what I'm saying?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Of you saying the same thing over and over and
- 13:36Speaker 2: over again. And then you become a living meme.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm going to say this, and I feel
- 13:42Speaker 1: like you and I can both say this because we've
- 13:43Speaker 1: been working in this business for a while, man. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: feel like the people that be making them cuts is
- 13:47Speaker 1: people that ain't never had to come up with a
- 13:49Speaker 1: good line before. Like, it ain't that easy, guys, right? Like,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I think there's got to be somebody that's like a
- 13:56Speaker 1: super cut guy that's like, nah, man, I know what
- 13:57Speaker 1: they was going through. I can't even participate in this.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I'm out. You don't know what it takes to come
- 14:04Speaker 2: up with Islamabad is the New York of Islamabad.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Like, you say.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you say something funny, right? Like, that's what he's saying.
- 14:12Speaker 1: You come up with something to make these people feel good, right? Like,
- 14:16Speaker 1: what y'all got?
- 14:17Speaker 2: That's his opening joke. You got to let him have it.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Got to let him have it. He was amazing. We
- 14:25Speaker 1: also had the thing happen very recently where a woman
- 14:28Speaker 1: put out a book that basically, I mean, it's hard
- 14:33Speaker 1: times out here where you can get a book deal
- 14:34Speaker 1: because you used to sleep with Eric Adams. which was
- 14:36Speaker 1: the whole way that this woman got the book. But
- 14:39Speaker 1: the thing was, it didn't make Eric Adams look bad.
- 14:43Speaker 1: It actually made Eric Adams look good because she was
- 14:45Speaker 1: kind of fine. And everybody saw that and was kind
- 14:48Speaker 1: of like, damn, even Eric Adams, huh?
- 14:51Speaker 2: Bro, it was an absolute glaze fest, bro. I skimmed
- 14:55Speaker 2: that shit and I was like, wow, Shorty's just glazing, homie.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But you know, everybody trying to come up, get a bag,
- 15:01Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? I did a little digging myself.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Shorty used to sing background vocals for Stag Elite. So,
- 15:08Speaker 2: you know, if you're singing vocals, background vocals with Stagg
- 15:11Speaker 2: and Lee, man, then, you know, you got other, you
- 15:13Speaker 2: got bigger problems. So you're just trying to secure the bag, man.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So you'll do anything.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Hey, look, man, I saw how Eric Adams got to
- 15:20Speaker 1: be the mayor. Eric Adams, in that book, that woman said,
- 15:22Speaker 1: Eric Adams looked at her and said, I'm going to
- 15:25Speaker 1: be the mayor and I don't want to do it
- 15:27Speaker 1: without you. She said they wasn't even doing the thing
- 15:30Speaker 1: no more. And she signed up on that.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Well, you know, I'll throw a flag on the play.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I'll call cap. You know, whatever you want to do.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Because the way Eric Adams has been moving, he moves
- 15:39Speaker 2: like a dude that's like, yo, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:42Speaker 2: I'm not claiming you. We're not doing nothing public until
- 15:45Speaker 2: I see what that thing's more like. You know what
- 15:47Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 15:50Speaker 1: Well, no, he knew that, and then apparently they stopped.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think the surprise in this one is that Eric
- 15:57Speaker 1: Adams is someone who actually can abide by sure we'll
- 15:59Speaker 1: just be friends. That is not behavior that I would
- 16:03Speaker 1: expect from Eric Adams.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Well, no. He is not doing that in the least, bro.
- 16:10Speaker 2: He is like, listen, again, he's a club promoter. And
- 16:13Speaker 2: you know what club promoters are trying to do? Give
- 16:15Speaker 2: the pretty girl extra drink tickets. You know what I'm saying?
- 16:18Speaker 2: Butter her up. You know what I mean? Finesse it.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Get some like, you know, liquid lubrication poppin'..
- 16:26Speaker 1: It makes sense. Did we find out that he was
- 16:30Speaker 1: like down at Far Rockaway? For people who don't know,
- 16:32Speaker 1: Far Rockaway is far. That is the best way to
- 16:35Speaker 1: describe Far Rockaway.
- 16:36Speaker 2: It's in the name.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I can get to my house, I can get from
- 16:40Speaker 1: my house to Philly faster than you can get from
- 16:42Speaker 1: where Mero grew up to Far Rockaway and it's all
- 16:44Speaker 1: in the same city, right?
- 16:45Speaker 2: That's a fact, bro.
- 16:46Speaker 1: But he was like, yeah, I used to have a...
- 16:48Speaker 1: He's like, yo, I used to have a shorty down here.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And then we looked it up. Nope, it looks like
- 16:52Speaker 1: Eric Adams did. In fact, like Eric Adams is that
- 16:54Speaker 1: dude that you can't believe nothing he says except the
- 16:56Speaker 1: one time you check into it, he did do the
- 16:59Speaker 1: thing he said.
- 17:01Speaker 2: So then it fucks you up and you're like, yo,
- 17:02Speaker 2: wait a minute. What about the other stuff? Could it
- 17:05Speaker 2: possibly be true? Was he really on tour with Jay-Z
- 17:09Speaker 2: and Memphis Bleak in 2002? Like, you know what I mean? Like,
- 17:13Speaker 2: you never know.
- 17:16Speaker 1: That's the one danger about checking somebody you know who
- 17:19Speaker 1: be lying. You got to make sure you get them
- 17:22Speaker 1: on that lie.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Or else, you know, you got a Fat Joe situation
- 17:27Speaker 2: on your hands where it's just like, yo, the story
- 17:28Speaker 2: sound ridiculous, but then you got other people confirming it.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you never know. You never know, right? And once
- 17:35Speaker 1: that person, Trump has the same thing too. Trump mess
- 17:39Speaker 1: around and tell you some wild shit and then the
- 17:40Speaker 1: next thing you know, it's kind of like when it
- 17:42Speaker 1: turned out that Joe Biden did know a dude named
- 17:44Speaker 1: Corn Pop. Like, Corp Pop really was something. After that, man,
- 17:49Speaker 1: we had to listen to whatever Joe Biden said.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you had to listen to all that malarkey.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We thought you made it up. Yeah, yeah, that's exactly it.
- 17:56Speaker 1: We thought it was malarkey. In fact, it was the
- 17:59Speaker 1: real McCoy.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Corp Pop is vindicated. Yes, yes.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Now, there's something else going on with this mayor's race.
- 18:08Speaker 1: For those of you who don't know, and this becomes
- 18:10Speaker 1: very interesting, is that Eric Adams is the mayor and
- 18:14Speaker 1: he ran as he was a Democrat, but he wasn't
- 18:16Speaker 1: running as a Democrat because he was under indictment. He
- 18:18Speaker 1: got himself out from under indictment because he agreed to
- 18:20Speaker 1: do Trump's bidding on the immigration stuff. So Cuomo, who
- 18:26Speaker 1: was the governor and left in disgrace, he ran against
- 18:29Speaker 1: Mom Donnie in the Democratic primary. And the expectation was
- 18:32Speaker 1: very similar to Barack Obama in 08. We're like, oh,
- 18:35Speaker 1: come on, man. There's no way that this can go.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Except Mondani smoked Cuomo. Right. We thought and you knew
- 18:41Speaker 1: it was bad because, look, black people, we try not
- 18:44Speaker 1: to vote for losers. And Cuomo was expected to win
- 18:48Speaker 1: the black vote. Nope, didn't happen. Black people was voting
- 18:50Speaker 1: for Mondani, too, because Mondani has this fascinating approach where
- 18:54Speaker 1: he's just like, guys, you ever notice that shit costs
- 18:56Speaker 1: way too much money? Isn't that wild? Yeah, vote for me.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And we was like, hell yeah, we gonna vote for you.
- 19:03Speaker 1: And so now it's the general election. Cuomo is running
- 19:07Speaker 1: as an independent and is another dude named Curtis Sliwa,
- 19:11Speaker 1: who used to be homeboy that ran the Guardian Angels.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So he'll be out here with a beret on and
- 19:17Speaker 1: he's running for the Republican nomination. And it's worth noting
- 19:21Speaker 1: that Curtis Sliwa is really hates Andrew Cuomo, right? Now,
- 19:26Speaker 1: you may be asking yourself, why is a Democrat running
- 19:30Speaker 1: against a Democrat? Because it has turned into a handicap match.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Everybody is trying to make sure that Zoran don't get
- 19:40Speaker 1: out of here. The big money don't like Zoran. The
- 19:43Speaker 1: landlords don't like Zoran. People who are decidedly pro-Israel, they
- 19:47Speaker 1: are not big fans of Zoran. Everybody is coming at Zoran.
- 19:52Speaker 1: But the two dudes that are running against Zoran, the
- 19:54Speaker 1: problem is Curtis Sliwa really hates Andrew Cuomo more than
- 19:58Speaker 1: he hates anything else in this world. And I think
- 20:00Speaker 1: that's the only thing that keeps him up in the
- 20:02Speaker 1: morning is taking shots at Andrew Cuomo.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And I'll tell you one thing, bro. This is not
- 20:07Speaker 2: even a hot take. This is a lukewarm take. This
- 20:09Speaker 2: is actually probably true. You know what I mean? I
- 20:12Speaker 2: can say this with no facts or anything. It's my opinion,
- 20:16Speaker 2: which is a fact. If Curtis Lewa was not a
- 20:19Speaker 2: Republican on the Republican ticket, I think him and Zoran
- 20:22Speaker 2: would get along. You know what I'm saying? Because Curtis Lewa,
- 20:26Speaker 2: even though he's a Pixar character of, you know, New
- 20:29Speaker 2: York City, the Disney movie, you know what I mean? Like, he...
- 20:33Speaker 2: When they asked, the perfect example to me was in
- 20:36Speaker 2: the debate. When they asked the question, have you ever
- 20:38Speaker 2: gotten anything from a legal dispensary? And Mamdani was like, yes,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I have purchased marijuana at a legal dispensary. And Curtis
- 20:46Speaker 2: Lee was like, I got shot five times and I
- 20:48Speaker 2: used marijuana to cure my pains. So yes. And Cuomo
- 20:53Speaker 2: was just like, nah. You know what I mean? So
- 20:56Speaker 2: I'm just like, one of these things is not like
- 20:58Speaker 2: the other. You know what I'm saying? I think Sliwa
- 21:02Speaker 2: and Zoran and the Cypher, they could get some things done. Yo,
- 21:09Speaker 2: real talk.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Curtis Sliwa is... It's a somewhat Texas archetype, but I
- 21:15Speaker 1: like my white guys white. You know what I'm saying?
- 21:18Speaker 1: You don't need to be pretending like we got more
- 21:20Speaker 1: in common than we actually do. Curtis Sliwa, I don't
- 21:22Speaker 1: want to talk to him about everything, but I think
- 21:25Speaker 1: I'd have a great time talking to him about everything else.
- 21:28Speaker 1: My favorite part is... It's the guy with the beret
- 21:32Speaker 1: that's the Republican and the dude in the nice suit
- 21:34Speaker 1: that's the socialist. Is that what you're telling me here?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Because if I told you somebody over there is a socialist,
- 21:39Speaker 1: you're picking a dude in the funny hat.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And a raspberry beret. Of course.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Yes. This is really a thing. It's the dude in
- 21:50Speaker 1: the beret, but he's not trying to take my daddy out. No,
- 21:54Speaker 1: he wants to get Cuomo every time. When he said
- 21:56Speaker 1: about Cuomo that Cuomo is slapping fannies and killing grannies.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Cuomo got put out for some sexual harassment and we
- 22:04Speaker 1: found out a lot of old people died during the
- 22:07Speaker 1: pandemic in the nursing homes and Cuomo hid it from us.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And so Curtis Lee has been on his ass.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Fat curtis lee would need to go on joe and jada.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Honestly how have none of them tried to like it
- 22:22Speaker 1: would just be amazing just like 45 minutes of him
- 22:25Speaker 1: talking to fat joe i'll watch i swear i'll watch.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I'll watch i'll start a network on that premise.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Like this is what it is until the issue is.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Going to be.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But yo we we know zoron's probably gonna win brother
- 22:45Speaker 1: they about to be they gonna be on him like
- 22:48Speaker 1: his name really his middle name is kwame he was
- 22:50Speaker 1: born in uganda but they gonna be on him like
- 22:53Speaker 1: you know like he kwame brown like it's about it's
- 22:56Speaker 1: about to be relentless coming.
- 22:59Speaker 2: In like you said man before i have never seen
- 23:02Speaker 2: this level of like fear from like the establishment you
- 23:06Speaker 2: know what i'm saying like you know, career politicians, billionaires,
- 23:11Speaker 2: you know what I mean? All these rich people, boomers,
- 23:14Speaker 2: you name it. Fear mongerers, you know what I'm saying?
- 23:16Speaker 2: Et cetera, et cetera. I'm like, bro, this dude went
- 23:19Speaker 2: to Bronx science. Do y'all know what the, like, fam,
- 23:23Speaker 2: like this kid is a New York city kid. Like,
- 23:24Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? So like, it just, it
- 23:28Speaker 2: baffles my mind, bro. Because another thing is this guy's
- 23:31Speaker 2: running to be mayor of New York city and he's
- 23:33Speaker 2: very focused on New York city. Like, he's, like, you
- 23:37Speaker 2: know what I mean? He's getting very granular with the
- 23:39Speaker 2: New York City shit. He don't care. He's not tripping
- 23:41Speaker 2: about geopolitics and nothing like that. They keep asking him
- 23:43Speaker 2: about it. But he's, and he keeps replying, hey, hey, man,
- 23:47Speaker 2: I'm running to be mayor of New York City. That's
- 23:50Speaker 2: my focus. New York City. And making it affordable for
- 23:53Speaker 2: New Yorkers. You know what I'm saying? I left New
- 23:55Speaker 2: York City when they stopped doing free UPK. I got free,
- 23:57Speaker 2: I got four kids, bro. Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 24:00Speaker 2: I was like, I can't afford to send all the
- 24:02Speaker 2: other daycare while your mom goes to work and I
- 24:04Speaker 2: go to work. That's crazy. So what are we going
- 24:06Speaker 2: to do? I was like, I guess I got to go.
- 24:08Speaker 2: And I helped them move. So, you know, there's a
- 24:10Speaker 2: lot of things, man, like, like I call my, like
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'm a single issue voter, like I'm not a single
- 24:14Speaker 2: issue voter, but like there's a lot of people that
- 24:15Speaker 2: are single issue voters. And for me, the most important
- 24:18Speaker 2: thing is childcare, UPK, you know what I mean? Like
- 24:22Speaker 2: the buses is nice. Everything else is nice. But really
- 24:25Speaker 2: it's really about giving, you know, New Yorkers the opportunity
- 24:29Speaker 2: to go out and work and not have to worry about,
- 24:30Speaker 2: Hey man, I got to spend 20 bays a year
- 24:32Speaker 2: on daycare. And that's sucking up all my money. I
- 24:35Speaker 2: can't save up money. I can't do nothing. I can't...
- 24:38Speaker 2: You know, I'm living hand to mouth. And New Yorkers
- 24:41Speaker 2: are tired of that shit. And them billionaires.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And the billionaires are like, fuck your kids. Yeah, fuck
- 24:47Speaker 1: your kids. That Ackerman guy that Curtis Sliwa also hates. Like,
- 24:51Speaker 1: that's the thing about Sliwa. When he talks, he doesn't
- 24:54Speaker 1: sound like any Republican that I know.
- 24:57Speaker 2: At all.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Sliwa says way too many things where I'm like, no, no, no,
- 25:01Speaker 1: hear the man out. Let the man in the funny
- 25:03Speaker 1: hat finish. But they don't say too much. And it's like,
- 25:06Speaker 1: all right, somebody tell the funny hat.
- 25:08Speaker 2: All right, you crossed the line, champ. You know what
- 25:10Speaker 2: I mean? Like... It's a sleeveless threshold, bro. Sleeveless to
- 25:15Speaker 2: me is like me going to LA. I could be
- 25:17Speaker 2: there for a week and a half, two weeks, and
- 25:18Speaker 2: then I got to get out of there.
- 25:23Speaker 1: But they all, all of the billionaires, all of the landlords,
- 25:27Speaker 1: because my man is trying to freeze the rent or
- 25:29Speaker 1: rent-stabilized places. Let me tell you something. I had a
- 25:31Speaker 1: rent-stabilized apartment for a little while, baby. And let me
- 25:34Speaker 1: tell you what they don't be trying to do. Put
- 25:35Speaker 1: no money into that motherfucker. That's the only thing about it.
- 25:38Speaker 1: They going to get you back. They going to get
- 25:40Speaker 1: you back on that one. They like, ain't no profit.
- 25:42Speaker 1: in this situation um but like everything he says to
- 25:46Speaker 1: me yo everything he says to me sounds like it
- 25:49Speaker 1: seems like a pretty good idea hey maybe that won't
- 25:51Speaker 1: work but it seems worth a try terror i was
- 25:54Speaker 1: talking to somebody on the phone the other day who
- 25:56Speaker 1: don't even live here and he was petrified at the
- 25:59Speaker 1: prospect of zoron winning i.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Don't understand it i'm like listen man like look There's
- 26:05Speaker 2: a lot of things that he's proposing. Like you said,
- 26:08Speaker 2: they might work, they might not. But what have we
- 26:11Speaker 2: been doing for the last, you know what I mean,
- 26:13Speaker 2: eight years? Like, bullshit. Yeah. So, you know, and look
- 26:17Speaker 2: at where we're at. So, you know, might as well
- 26:19Speaker 2: try something new. I know Cuomo's not going to do
- 26:21Speaker 2: anything new.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Well, that's my thing. Y'all wasn't scared of Eric Adams? Like,
- 26:27Speaker 1: it is amazing that, like, you think you can survive
- 26:29Speaker 1: Eric Adams, right? But you don't think you can survive
- 26:34Speaker 1: the homies O-Rod. That's what's kind of wild to me.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That is super bugged out. I think, you know what
- 26:39Speaker 2: it is? I think it's older. It's funny because it's, like,
- 26:42Speaker 2: older people, a lot of older people that are, like,
- 26:45Speaker 2: doing all this, like, fear-mongering and all this other bullshit.
- 26:48Speaker 2: And it's trippy to me because I'm like, man, Aren't
- 26:52Speaker 2: y'all like the hippies? Aren't y'all like the generation of like, yo,
- 26:55Speaker 2: make love, not war. Like, blah, blah, blah. I'm like,
- 26:58Speaker 2: all right, I guess all that shit went out the
- 26:59Speaker 2: window as soon as you saw your social security check
- 27:01Speaker 2: was weak. You know what I mean? And that ain't
- 27:03Speaker 2: his fault.
- 27:04Speaker 1: This is right.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Boomer's got to figure shit out.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you this. I got one more point
- 27:11Speaker 1: I'm going to make on this. We're going to take
- 27:13Speaker 1: a moment. But coming up next, I'm going to make
- 27:15Speaker 1: one more point that I do think needs to be
- 27:17Speaker 1: made when it comes to Eric Adams. All right, back
- 27:20Speaker 1: with the Kid Mero. And all these jokes we got
- 27:23Speaker 1: about Eric Adams, I do think we need to stop
- 27:25Speaker 1: and take a moment because I would love to direct
- 27:27Speaker 1: the Eric Adams documentary. The fact that it happened at all.
- 27:30Speaker 1: It is amazing that this particular man got to where
- 27:36Speaker 1: he has been and almost went to jail. They accused
- 27:40Speaker 1: his aides of passing bribes in a Funyuns bag or
- 27:45Speaker 1: whatever kind of chips it was that was in the bag.
- 27:48Speaker 1: And he beat the rap and he is going to
- 27:50Speaker 1: walk out of the mayor's office not in handcuffs.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Amazing um bro amazing doing all the the goofiest corruption
- 28:00Speaker 2: scandal in the history of government this man going to
- 28:03Speaker 2: turkey and getting first class flights i don't know if
- 28:06Speaker 2: he went there to get his veneers done or what
- 28:09Speaker 2: but not even like y'all make like a billion dollar
- 28:13Speaker 2: stock trading insider trading nothing like that bro i flew
- 28:16Speaker 2: to turkey and i got special treatment like dog what
- 28:20Speaker 2: the fuck and like Fair. Homie was just the literal devil.
- 28:25Speaker 2: He was like Kingpin. You know what I'm saying? For Spider-Man.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Kingpin for Spider-Man became mayor of New York City and
- 28:30Speaker 2: went on Ozempic.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Hold up.
- 28:32Speaker 2: That's Eric Adams.
- 28:33Speaker 1: What if he had come back from Turkey with a
- 28:36Speaker 1: full head of hair?
- 28:38Speaker 2: I was expecting that, Bo. When I saw that he
- 28:41Speaker 2: did not, I was disappointed. I was disappointed. I was like, yo,
- 28:45Speaker 2: my man, you pushing the boundaries of the mayoral office
- 28:50Speaker 2: in every direction except this one? You can't go get
- 28:53Speaker 2: the Nori? Dark Caesar, bro? Like, Nori did it. Why
- 28:56Speaker 2: can't you do it? You hang out with rappers all
- 28:58Speaker 2: the time. They not giving you, they gatekeeping the doctors
- 29:01Speaker 2: for you? Yes.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you this, though. I'm going to
- 29:04Speaker 1: tell you the one person who need to be mad, though,
- 29:07Speaker 1: at Zoran. And I know he probably talks to people
- 29:12Speaker 1: about this all the time. They be like, yeah, I know.
- 29:14Speaker 2: You right. You right.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And that is our man. You remember Jimmy Mac? Jimmy
- 29:19Speaker 1: Mac Miller? The rent is too damn high?
- 29:23Speaker 2: Yeah. He been saying it. Yo, man.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Zobrod beat his whole steez, man. Bernie Sanders beat his
- 29:30Speaker 1: whole steez. AOC beat his whole steez. He had it.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Very simple. One issue. The rent is too damn high.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Hell yeah, the rent too damn high. you got this
- 29:41Speaker 1: and they call.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Him crazy see he ran he walks so Zoran can
- 29:45Speaker 2: run you know what I'm saying so shout out to
- 29:47Speaker 2: Jimmy god damn it because he was and I think
- 29:49Speaker 2: I feel like if it wasn't for the facial hair
- 29:52Speaker 2: he might have had a shot.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I was just about to say the least that Zoran
- 29:57Speaker 1: could do to show that man some love is to
- 29:59Speaker 1: pay some homage and go ahead and grow it. Grow
- 30:04Speaker 1: that crazy facial hair, man. You got to get this
- 30:08Speaker 1: man some kind of props, man. You got to at
- 30:10Speaker 1: least bring him out at the victory party.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's like he....
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yo, Jimmy is like Fonte to Drake. You know what
- 30:19Speaker 1: I'm saying? It's a lot of y'all that don't really
- 30:21Speaker 1: know what's really going on, but those of us who
- 30:23Speaker 1: know the real, we can see the straight line that
- 30:25Speaker 1: was drawn.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Right. You see the through line from Jimmy to Zora.
- 30:31Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yes, yes.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Yo, this tell you a lot about America, that more
- 30:36Speaker 1: people don't simply run on, yo, man, these prices is crazy, right? Like,
- 30:43Speaker 1: who's saying no to that approach? Like, who is the
- 30:45Speaker 1: person that hears that and is like, no, actually, I
- 30:47Speaker 1: think they're pretty reasonable.
- 30:48Speaker 2: They're pretty good.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Even rich people are like, yeah, them prices aren't high, man.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Thank you. That's the craziest shit to me, bro. It's like, yo,
- 30:54Speaker 2: my man is running on a campaign. He hasn't said
- 30:57Speaker 2: shit except the word affordability 80, 100,000 times. And everybody
- 31:03Speaker 2: who's living in the city and is like, damn, you're right.
- 31:05Speaker 2: This shit is wild and affordable. I just paid $ 12.
- 31:09Speaker 2: for jail commissary instant oatmeal. This is crazy. This has
- 31:12Speaker 2: to stop. My rent is $ 8, 000 a month. I live
- 31:16Speaker 2: in a two-bedroom that I share with a rodent that
- 31:21Speaker 2: I can't identify. You know what I'm saying? And, like,
- 31:24Speaker 2: this is out of control. We got to stop this.
- 31:26Speaker 2: So somebody saying that and people being like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 31:29Speaker 2: take it easy there, buddy, is crazy to me. I
- 31:32Speaker 2: feel like I'm in Zoolander, bro. Like, am I taking
- 31:34Speaker 2: crazy pills? Like, y'all want the rent to be higher?
- 31:38Speaker 2: I was like, I know one thing. Eric Adams on
- 31:40Speaker 2: his way out bumped the rent up. He bumped the
- 31:42Speaker 2: rent one last time for motherfuckers on his way out.
- 31:45Speaker 2: And I was just like, God damn, bro. Thank you
- 31:47Speaker 2: for the parting gift, you bitch. Now I got to
- 31:49Speaker 2: pay an extra 500 for the studio.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yo, man. Yo, because part of it is you kind
- 31:53Speaker 1: of get yourself to a place living here where you
- 31:55Speaker 1: just don't think about how much it costs, right? It's
- 31:57Speaker 1: not going to help. Like if it's something that you
- 31:59Speaker 1: got to buy, you just kind of go ahead and
- 32:01Speaker 1: buy it. But every now and then something happens and
- 32:03Speaker 1: you look at the number and you're like, what's really
- 32:05Speaker 1: going on, right? Man, I ordered some Indian food the
- 32:08Speaker 1: other night, some curry chicken and some naan. It was
- 32:14Speaker 1: 40 bucks.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Dog!
- 32:16Speaker 1: Now, granted, that's the fee game, right? There's a lot of,
- 32:21Speaker 1: but the bottom line is, and by the time I
- 32:24Speaker 1: saw it, I was like, fuck, man, I've already decided
- 32:26Speaker 1: that this is what I'm about to do. 40 bucks.
- 32:30Speaker 1: What are you talking about here?
- 32:32Speaker 2: Fam, and this is ethnic food. People fuck with ethnic
- 32:35Speaker 2: food because it's, by and large, affordable. You know what
- 32:39Speaker 2: I'm saying? It's made by immigrants for their communities. You
- 32:44Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? And other people. New York is
- 32:45Speaker 2: a melting pot. We know that. We love it. But goddamn, bro,
- 32:48Speaker 2: if I'm going to the Dominican spot and the lunch
- 32:50Speaker 2: used to be $ 5 and now it's $ 25 because you
- 32:53Speaker 2: added fees and this and that and boom, bang, bing,
- 32:56Speaker 2: and you beat me over the head. Like you said, man, like, listen,
- 32:59Speaker 2: these are all things that we used to not really
- 33:01Speaker 2: pay attention to until you get that alert from Bank
- 33:04Speaker 2: of America that's like, hey, your account is overdrawn by $ 283.
- 33:06Speaker 2: What would you like to do?
- 33:09Speaker 1: Right. It's going to be wild. Zoran's going to let
- 33:12Speaker 1: everybody down because, look, man, he's going to be fighting.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? He's going to let you
- 33:16Speaker 1: down because guys like him will always let you down
- 33:19Speaker 1: because you've got to be somewhat realistic about what is
- 33:21Speaker 1: possible once you get into the space. It's not going
- 33:23Speaker 1: to be he's a bad guy. He already had to
- 33:24Speaker 1: keep the current police commissioner. The people that's worried about
- 33:27Speaker 1: him talking about defund the police, Zoran ain't stupid. You
- 33:31Speaker 1: know that don't work no more. Somebody has let him know, like, hey, man,
- 33:35Speaker 1: you might want to start getting cool with the police.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Like, ow-nay. You know what I'm saying? And that's the thing, too. Like,
- 33:42Speaker 2: he understands, like, the game, right? Like, he understands politics.
- 33:45Speaker 2: He understands what you need to do to get into office.
- 33:49Speaker 2: You know what I mean? And, like, hey, try it, bro.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Try everything that you're proposing. If one out of three
- 33:57Speaker 2: of them things works, we good.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Speaking of the game, I hadn't really been paying so
- 34:06Speaker 1: much attention so far, but the New York Knicks have
- 34:08Speaker 1: started off 2-2. Are you ready to fire Mike Brown yet, Mero?
- 34:11Speaker 1: Are you guys getting a little antsy over there? I
- 34:14Speaker 1: hear y'all supposed to win the championship this year.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Nah, man. I'm not getting antsy at all, man. It's
- 34:18Speaker 2: not even December yet, man. Like, we ain't even... Come on, man. Like, listen,
- 34:25Speaker 2: we went from complaining. The Knicks fans, I love y'all,
- 34:28Speaker 2: but some of y'all got to relax because we went
- 34:31Speaker 2: from complaining that Tibbs only played six motherfuckers to now, yo,
- 34:36Speaker 2: Tyler Kolek minutes, yo, Cat is soft, all this other,
- 34:40Speaker 2: other shit. Yo, Cat's unhappy with what he's doing in
- 34:45Speaker 2: the offense. Man, we four games in, dog. Like, they
- 34:48Speaker 2: figuring shit out. Like- Let them figure it out. You
- 34:51Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Let this unit play together. Let
- 34:53Speaker 2: that rotation expand. You know what I mean? Like, you're
- 34:55Speaker 2: going from playing six dudes to playing eight, nine, ten guys.
- 34:58Speaker 2: You know, shit's going to change. So you got to
- 35:00Speaker 2: give it time. Give them time to gel. If by
- 35:03Speaker 2: Christmas shit is looking spooky, I will retract every statement
- 35:06Speaker 2: I have said thus far. But God damn it, the
- 35:09Speaker 2: Knicks are fine. Everybody calm down.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Okay. You're going to wait till Christmas that I feel
- 35:18Speaker 1: like is going to turn to Thanksgiving.
- 35:23Speaker 2: I'm pushing up to Thanksgiving, matter of fact. Because we're
- 35:25Speaker 2: not even in November yet. It's Halloween. Happy Halloween, y'all.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying, man, y'all are ready for it.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I want the Knicks to do well because I keep
- 35:35Speaker 1: telling people, man, it really is better here when the
- 35:37Speaker 1: Knicks are doing well, right? The bright side is if
- 35:40Speaker 1: it don't go well, then y'all can get hyped up
- 35:41Speaker 1: about Giannis, and that'll be fun to watch too.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Would you have done that?
- 35:47Speaker 1: Would I have traded for Giannis?
- 35:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Oh, I'd have found a way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:53Speaker 2: But if you give up, like if you do the typical,
- 35:58Speaker 2: like the historical Knicks move, right, is to go trade
- 36:01Speaker 2: Jalen Brunson, Carl Towns, and like, you know, throw in
- 36:06Speaker 2: a random guy, OG Ananobi, right, or Mitchell Robinson. Take
- 36:10Speaker 2: these three guys who are basically the cornerstones of this
- 36:12Speaker 2: franchise and give us Giannis. And then Giannis is going
- 36:15Speaker 2: to come over, score 50 a game. You know what
- 36:18Speaker 2: I'm saying? We're going to go 20 and 62. And
- 36:22Speaker 2: then what? He's going to sell a lot of jerseys, though.
- 36:28Speaker 1: So my thing, though, is definitely I keep Jalen Brunson.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I prefer to keep OG.
- 36:37Speaker 2: You know.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Con respeto, mi amigo. Tu hermano Carl. Yo quiero enviarse
- 36:50Speaker 1: en el cambio. You know, you know, you know, Milwaukee's
- 36:54Speaker 1: not doing that. The entire state of Wisconsin would riot
- 36:59Speaker 1: if they did a one to one Giannis.
- 37:01Speaker 2: To cat trade.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Oh God, that would never happen.
- 37:16Speaker 2: That would never happen. And that's the only way that
- 37:19Speaker 2: team could function.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Throw Bridges in there. Y'all going to get mad at
- 37:26Speaker 1: him soon enough. Or are you already mad at him?
- 37:28Speaker 1: He plays a little less physically than you New Yorkers
- 37:31Speaker 1: tend to like.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not mad at him, though, because like I said,
- 37:35Speaker 2: he's in a rotation that has been expanded. It's not
- 37:38Speaker 2: all about him. And, yo, you know what? New Yorkers,
- 37:41Speaker 2: if you do one thing or two things, if you
- 37:44Speaker 2: have iconic moments in New York sports, people fuck with
- 37:47Speaker 2: you forever. Aaron Boone is the manager of the New
- 37:50Speaker 2: York Yankees right now, not because he has a wealth
- 37:52Speaker 2: of baseball knowledge, because he hit one home run in
- 37:56Speaker 2: the playoffs. One. That mattered. You know what I'm saying?
- 38:00Speaker 2: And he did that, and he rode that wave all
- 38:03Speaker 2: the way to the dugout as the manager. So Mikael
- 38:06Speaker 2: Bridges had two iconic moments against our most hated rival city, Boston,
- 38:13Speaker 2: when he stripped Jason Tatum or Jalen Brown at the
- 38:17Speaker 2: end of both games. He put the clamps on JB,
- 38:21Speaker 2: and then he stripped JT for, you know what I mean,
- 38:24Speaker 2: those two games. And those were iconic Knicks moments. He's good.
- 38:29Speaker 2: He can ride that wave. He's probably going to end
- 38:31Speaker 2: up on the coaching staff in 10 years.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I want to ask you this while we're here. I
- 38:36Speaker 1: haven't heard you and your thoughts on the NBA gambling situation.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'm curious what you think about that.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Hey, brother, let me tell you something. I was gambling
- 38:44Speaker 2: when you had to call an Italian man and go
- 38:46Speaker 2: to a social club and fill out a paper ticket. Okay? So,
- 38:50Speaker 2: I'll say this much. I saw this coming all the way.
- 38:54Speaker 2: And it's crazy to me because it's It's really just greed, bro.
- 38:59Speaker 2: It's greed. Because I'm like, yo, if you think about it,
- 39:01Speaker 2: I said this shit on Victory Light. Even, like, a
- 39:04Speaker 2: mid-NBA player is making $ 15 million a year, dog. If
- 39:11Speaker 2: you are on an NBA roster, bro, and you score
- 39:14Speaker 2: eight points a game, you fuck around and get $ 15 million.
- 39:17Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Like, the guys are getting $ 50,
- 39:20Speaker 2: $ 60 million. So it's like, bro, how much money do
- 39:23Speaker 2: you need?
- 39:27Speaker 1: See, I don't see the... The reason I push back
- 39:29Speaker 1: on the greed angle, man, I think what it comes
- 39:31Speaker 1: down to, and this is important, man, Some people just
- 39:35Speaker 1: don't make good decisions, right? And like, I can't relate
- 39:38Speaker 1: to people who make, like, you know people who make
- 39:41Speaker 1: just terrible decisions. I believe that you may have made
- 39:44Speaker 1: a couple of bad ones at some point in your life, right?
- 39:46Speaker 1: Where people are just like, why did you make those
- 39:47Speaker 1: terrible decisions? You don't have an answer for it. You
- 39:50Speaker 1: just did it. Some people never get over it though.
- 39:52Speaker 1: They just make horrific decisions. Like Terry Rozier had to
- 39:55Speaker 1: put his house up for bail and the IRS has
- 39:58Speaker 1: got a lead on his house. That's a man who
- 40:01Speaker 1: made a series of terrible decisions.
- 40:06Speaker 2: And yo, listen, and this is the thing. We got
- 40:10Speaker 2: to do something. I mean, I know the NBA does
- 40:12Speaker 2: something where they teach incoming draftees about financial, fiscal responsibility
- 40:18Speaker 2: and things like that. We got to expand that because
- 40:21Speaker 2: obviously it didn't hit for everybody. Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 1: But I think that people who make good decisions think
- 40:28Speaker 1: that as long as people know that doing something is
- 40:31Speaker 1: a bad decision, That is enough.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Of a deterrent.
- 40:34Speaker 1: And no, it doesn't work that way.
- 40:36Speaker 2: No. They got to touch the stove. A lot of
- 40:39Speaker 2: motherfuckers got to touch the stove to find out it's hot.
- 40:42Speaker 1: That's exactly it. I didn't know if that adage made
- 40:44Speaker 1: its way up to this part of the country. Got
- 40:46Speaker 1: to touch the stove. Stove hot. Is it really?
- 40:50Speaker 2: Is it really, though? Let me see. Ah, goddamn. Okay,
- 40:53Speaker 2: third degree burn. There you go, your fingerprint.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Like damn you're oh yeah the fingerprint bird is the
- 41:00Speaker 1: that's the one that's that is just to let just
- 41:03Speaker 1: to remind you what a horrific decision that you made
- 41:07Speaker 1: that there is evidence right here whirls and swirls and
- 41:12Speaker 1: swoops to indicate that you made this like horrible terrible
- 41:17Speaker 1: decision like i'm waiting though for us to hear about
- 41:20Speaker 1: Because look, somebody like Terry Rozier, I see how somebody
- 41:22Speaker 1: like that gets caught in the web, right? If we
- 41:25Speaker 1: mess around and hear like a max salary dude caught
- 41:28Speaker 1: in the web, because look, if what they say about
- 41:30Speaker 1: Chauncey Billups is true, he got caught in the web somehow.
- 41:33Speaker 1: He made $ 100 million. And they say he somehow got
- 41:36Speaker 1: caught in the web. By the way, Terry Rozier, higher
- 41:38Speaker 1: career earnings than Chauncey Billups, which has to infuriate somebody
- 41:41Speaker 1: like Chauncey Billups.
- 41:42Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Apparently, caught in the web. But let me tell you
- 41:47Speaker 1: something else that's funny. I don't know if you saw this,
- 41:49Speaker 1: but The Athletic wrote a story about Chauncey Billups, and
- 41:53Speaker 1: it was kind of like going through the paperwork to
- 41:55Speaker 1: trace who the people are, and they're like, we can't
- 41:56Speaker 1: figure out how Chauncey Billups got caught up with this
- 41:59Speaker 1: one guy, right? And it's like their families follow each
- 42:02Speaker 1: other on Instagram. It's one of the people listed in
- 42:04Speaker 1: the paperwork. I think he caught one of the charges,
- 42:06Speaker 1: but they missed it. This guy is down with BMF?
- 42:11Speaker 1: and they couldn't understand how would Chauncey know the BMF guys?
- 42:15Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's the Detroit operation. There's going to
- 42:18Speaker 1: be a lot of people traipsing around the edges of this.
- 42:21Speaker 1: That's the first sentence of the wiki entry of BMF
- 42:25Speaker 1: is that it's a Southwest Detroit operation. And somehow this
- 42:28Speaker 1: story didn't think, hey, man, the answer to this might
- 42:30Speaker 1: be in Detroit, because that's Detroit, and Detroit works.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Detroit, and Chauncey was there for a long time, and
- 42:38Speaker 2: there's connections there. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but once I saw that this dude was a
- 42:43Speaker 1: BMF cat, I was like, oh, this could get really
- 42:47Speaker 1: weird really fast.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Fam, this story is a motherfucking onion, gang. And I'm
- 42:57Speaker 2: just waiting to see, as the layers peel back, How
- 43:01Speaker 2: many people involved in this shit? Who's going down for this?
- 43:04Speaker 2: What's going to happen? And also, now you got to
- 43:07Speaker 2: look at... Now that this whole thing is kind of
- 43:09Speaker 2: like blown open a little bit, you got to look
- 43:11Speaker 2: at situations that were suspect. You know what I mean?
- 43:14Speaker 2: Like suspect plays. Like, hmm, I wonder why he did that.
- 43:18Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Like, now I'm looking at
- 43:21Speaker 2: the Andrea Bargnani three you know what I'm saying, against
- 43:24Speaker 2: the Bucs and the Knicks back in the day that
- 43:27Speaker 2: completely baffled Walt Clyde Frazier when he took it. You
- 43:30Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? Now I'm looking at that shit
- 43:31Speaker 2: a little different. Like, hmm, maybe old boy's trying to
- 43:34Speaker 2: cover his spread or something.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Come hang out with me, baby. I've been watching college
- 43:38Speaker 1: basketball for a long time. I know when somebody's fixing
- 43:42Speaker 1: some shit in college basketball. Like, I have moments. I
- 43:46Speaker 1: don't do it as much anymore because college was always
- 43:48Speaker 1: a bit unwieldy because there's so many refs. Like, that's the–
- 43:51Speaker 1: It's refs that I've always watched. It hasn't been players.
- 43:54Speaker 1: It has been refs that I've been watching. But like,
- 43:56Speaker 1: it'll be something I watch and I'm like, look up
- 43:58Speaker 1: the spread. And that spread will be right there, right
- 44:02Speaker 1: there in that number. I was once on TV and
- 44:05Speaker 1: something that looked like it very obviously looked like a fix.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Like it was so strange that a fix would be
- 44:10Speaker 1: the only explanation. And I was doing Jim Rome is burning.
- 44:13Speaker 1: And they came. It got it was over. And then
- 44:15Speaker 1: it basically came to us. And I had no idea
- 44:17Speaker 1: what to do because I could not say what my
- 44:20Speaker 1: only answer of this was is somebody just fix this game.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Yo and that's the thing back then if you said
- 44:26Speaker 2: that people would have been like yo Bo's crazy yo
- 44:29Speaker 2: Bo how could you say this the sanctity of the
- 44:31Speaker 2: league oh my god how dare you and now it's
- 44:34Speaker 2: like hey bro this shit is on my phone like
- 44:39Speaker 2: I got my cousin in the stands telling me to
- 44:41Speaker 2: miss a three you know.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Oh what a time on another day we'll have to
- 44:48Speaker 1: talk about you and the Italian man because um Me
- 44:51Speaker 1: and my buddy Joe were talking about this, that we
- 44:53Speaker 1: didn't really know sports gambling. We just thought that's stuff
- 44:56Speaker 1: that white people did because we didn't know people who
- 44:58Speaker 1: did it. But you New York boys seem to travel
- 45:00Speaker 1: in a different space.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Hey, it's just another hustle, baby.
- 45:08Speaker 1: That is the Kid Mero. Check out the Victory Light podcast.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Check out According to the Kid. Check out 7 p.m.
- 45:14Speaker 1: in Brooklyn. Basically, just Google Mero because he's going to
