- 0:03Hello, welcome to He's hot but something is off OK, it is very
- 0:10early by my standards. It is 853.
- 0:16AMI usually record these in the afternoon, 5-6 PM.
- 0:21Usually I have my regular work day doing whatever, and then I
- 0:27usually will do the podcast sometime before dinner.
- 0:31So that's why I'm cooking. Wow, something's in the oven.
- 0:35But today it's going to be a busy day.
- 0:38And sometimes when it's a busy day, when there's like one big
- 0:44thing I need to do, but then I have some of the smaller things
- 0:49that are less important but needs to get done anyways, I
- 0:52kind of want to get that stuff out of the way first.
- 0:57It's a little like, I don't know, it's, it's just so that I
- 1:02can have a clearer mind because if I'm trying to do like the one
- 1:05big thing, but then in the back of my head I still have to worry
- 1:08about, oh, I've got three other little things that I have to
- 1:11worry about later. Sometimes it can be a little
- 1:13distracting. So I just finished breakfast and
- 1:17I thought, OK, it's a Wednesday. These go up on a Thursday.
- 1:23I have to record it later on. So that was the thought I had
- 1:26the in the back of my head and I just thought, why don't we just
- 1:29record it now, get it over with. And then for the rest of the day
- 1:35I can just focus on working on like the big thing and the big
- 1:40thing. I don't think I've talked about
- 1:43it that much. It's just a work thing.
- 1:44But the in in, if everything's on track in a couple weeks, I'll
- 1:48talk more about some work stuff that I've been working on.
- 1:50But I'm just telling a friend, just messaging on WhatsApp last
- 1:55night. I'm just bonkers busy right now
- 1:59for, for the next couple of weeks.
- 2:00So between now and like right before Thanksgiving, it's going
- 2:04to be pretty busy. But in, in two or three weeks,
- 2:08you will know why. So we're doing a launch.
- 2:10That's I'll just leave it at that for now.
- 2:12I don't want to talk about work stuff all the time on the
- 2:13podcast. But anyways, it's quite early
- 2:17morning here in West Hollywood. It's Thursday now, so I was also
- 2:24talking to some of my friends and I was just messaging them
- 2:30for Tuesday on Tuesday. And I was just messaging them.
- 2:32It is crazy pants in the US today.
- 2:37You know, Tuesday the 4th was crazy.
- 2:40And they're like, why? Because they're they're not from
- 2:42here. They're like, oh, why is this so
- 2:43crazy? I was like, OK, the government
- 2:47shutdown is, I think as of Tuesday, it was tied for the
- 2:52longest government shown we ever had.
- 2:54And then on Wednesday it became the longest one hit like 36 days
- 2:59or something. And then on Tuesday,
- 3:01unfortunately, I saw on the news there was a plane crash.
- 3:05So that's obviously bad. And, you know, I'm reading about
- 3:10some of the benefits that are starting to go away from some
- 3:16people because the government has been out for so long.
- 3:21So, yeah, not it wasn't a not that all those things were bad.
- 3:26Elections are not bad things. But, you know, it's just a lot
- 3:29of stuff going on in the US. So it's not it's not a policy
- 3:35for me to not talk about politics on the podcast.
- 3:39But I don't, I do keep up on news in bits and pieces.
- 3:45I don't spend most of my time reading what you would consider
- 3:53traditional news topics like events around the world.
- 3:58And I'm not. I don't usually care that much.
- 4:03I read car news, I read tech news.
- 4:05I keep up on Formula One things I care about.
- 4:08And then for World News, U.S. news, things going on with
- 4:14politics, I just get once in a while I just read some headlines
- 4:20just to kind of sort of know what's up a little bit.
- 4:23Oh, I do keep Yahoo Finance open on the tab.
- 4:27And I do check in on just generally what's going going on
- 4:31in the markets. So I do read up on that as well.
- 4:34Yeah, it is, It is. It feels like sometimes when you
- 4:38live in the US, you live in the eye of a storm, you know,
- 4:42Because locally where I am in my everyday life, things seem sane
- 4:49ish. But then you read about the news
- 4:53at like the countrywide level, at like the government level
- 4:58with all the stuff that's going wrong to politics and it's like,
- 5:01it's a bit of a shitstorm, isn't it?
- 5:05I don't know if you heard that, but my neighbors are doing
- 5:07something upstairs. I was just thinking the other
- 5:09day, by the way, this is going to be one of those.
- 5:12I think every episode is podcast.
- 5:13It's just very random. Like I just switched topics
- 5:17every 5 minutes. I know last week I did, I tried
- 5:22to, I, I thought about re recording last week's episode,
- 5:28but last week's episode I thought, oh, it'd be a good idea
- 5:31or it'd be fun to talk about how to hit on me.
- 5:37And I went into it just with the idea because this doesn't have
- 5:43an outline. If you want a podcast episode
- 5:45for me that has structure and an outline, you have to listen to
- 5:51the gay crews and travel podcast.
- 5:52Well, that was an unintentional plug.
- 5:54I did not meant for that to be a plug.
- 5:57Listen to the Gay Crews and travel podcast because like 95%
- 6:02of those episodes I will sit down about an hour before
- 6:07usually and then I will actually write out an outline for, OK,
- 6:13here are the main sections. Here are the main points.
- 6:15Within each section I will highlight things I need to
- 6:17emphasize things like that. So a lot of those episodes do
- 6:22have a structure. Some of the ones over on that
- 6:25podcast are more just here's a topic, it's more conversational
- 6:29and just give my opinion and I can just free form those ones.
- 6:34But especially if there's some particular topic that's more
- 6:39informational, like there's a episode coming up that I want to
- 6:43talk about travel insurance. That's going to be a lot very
- 6:47informational. It's going to be a lot of facts.
- 6:49I'm definitely going to do quite a long outline.
- 6:53It's going to take more than just 30 minutes to throw
- 6:55together. It's going to probably take on
- 6:57and off the course of a day or two, just like gather all the
- 7:02facts and put everything together whenever a new Atlantis
- 7:05cruise launches. That's also where I have to get
- 7:09obviously the key stats and numbers and like the itinerary
- 7:13and all that kind of stuff to dates.
- 7:15Yeah, but this is not a structured podcast.
- 7:19And I just do this for fun. Just in case you're joining me
- 7:21more recently, I this podcast is purely for my enjoyment and some
- 7:29I was just thinking, I was thinking this morning while I
- 7:32was eating, Oh, what should I talk about on today's podcast?
- 7:35There are a lot of topics I want to talk about, but there's so
- 7:37many topics I want to talk about right now that I think, oh, it's
- 7:40going to be almost like one of those radio talk shows.
- 7:43Those of you that are younger won't know what a radio talk
- 7:47show is. But for those of you that are a
- 7:49little older, back in the day when no MP threes, no streaming
- 7:57CDs, not even all cars had CDSCD players, you don't even know
- 8:02what if you're young, you don't even know what ACD is.
- 8:04All you know is Spotify and YouTube.
- 8:08OK, back in the day, there's no before Internet was a thing, but
- 8:15Internet was something that you got for like a few hours in a
- 8:20week. And before you had laptop
- 8:23computers, when computers were gigantic things had to sit on
- 8:25the desk. Nothing was wireless except for
- 8:29radio. Radio.
- 8:30It's a we would have, we would listen to radio all the time,
- 8:32especially in the car, because that was like the primary former
- 8:34entertainment. Yeah, you can have cassette
- 8:36tapes and things like that, but a lot of the times it was
- 8:38probably easier and sometimes better because the radio would
- 8:42just broadcast current things like current music Top 40 and,
- 8:47you know, different radio stations for different things.
- 8:49And talk radio was something I never really listened to.
- 8:52I always listened to music talk radio, but I imagine my I just
- 8:56wanted to thinking, oh, my podcast in a way, a lot of
- 9:01podcasts in a way is the current day equivalent of talk radio,
- 9:08you know, because clearly with the popularity of podcasts,
- 9:13people like hearing other people talk and audio books are a thing
- 9:17too. And it's basically what people
- 9:22used to do with radio because a lot of radio stations would just
- 9:27be talk. So I feel like podcasts are the
- 9:30modern day equivalent. I'm pretty sure I'm not the
- 9:33first person to have that thought, but it just occurred to
- 9:35me. OK, cut me a break.
- 9:38But anyways, yeah, today's today's podcast episode.
- 9:42It's just gonna be me randomly talking about whatever, as
- 9:46usual. I hope you know you find my
- 9:50podcast somewhat interesting. It helps you kill, I don't know,
- 9:5320-30 minutes out of your day. One random thing I'm going to
- 9:56talk about is this book that I just got, which you can see if
- 10:00you're watching the video version of this podcast, which
- 10:02is on my YouTube channel, Just Joey.
- 10:04TI can also do the video podcasts on Spotify because
- 10:09that's where I usually upload. That's the platform I use for
- 10:12hosting my podcasts and Spotify delivers it to all the different
- 10:17apps that you might be using. But then I can't run ads on them
- 10:20and YouTube lets me run ads. It's just capitalism.
- 10:25There you go. But I was getting my, I just got
- 10:29a new car and it's not a fancy new car I got.
- 10:33I got the cheapest car I could lease.
- 10:36If you're interested, join my I did a little thing on my
- 10:38Patreon. I was saying, Oh, I'm in the
- 10:40last uncut episode that's only available on my Patreon.
- 10:43I was telling them my Patreon subscribers oh I'm really into
- 10:47lease hacking lately so if you are interested in lease hacking
- 10:50let me know. It's something I'm kind of into
- 10:55lately but I just got a new car but it was like the cheapest car
- 11:00I could lease. It cost so little money to
- 11:03lease. I was able to just make one
- 11:06single lease payment to cover the full term of the lease.
- 11:09It's called A1 lease pay. The whole thing fed on my credit
- 11:12card. And my credit card I thought is
- 11:13going to be like, oh, with this amount be like a little, do you
- 11:16know, sometimes you put a particularly large purchase on a
- 11:19credit card that's out of what you normally spend.
- 11:22And then the credit card issuer is like, oh, we just got this
- 11:26fraud alert. We think we'd have suspicious
- 11:29activity on your card. I was half expecting that to
- 11:32happen on a credit card, but my credit card, they even blink
- 11:34half an eye. It just went right through.
- 11:36That's how cheap the car was. Anyways, I took the car to get
- 11:39tinted, the windows tinted because, you know, for UV
- 11:44protection basically. It's why I get it tinted.
- 11:47It's not to make it look dark. I don't like it when cars have
- 11:50that really dark tint to look. You know what one of the things
- 11:54I don't like is as a pedestrian, when I'm about to like across an
- 12:00intersection or something like that and there's like a stop
- 12:03sign. And The thing is, I want to be
- 12:06able to make eye contact with the driver to confirm that the
- 12:09driver has seen me. Because depending on the
- 12:13intersection and where you are in relation to the car, like
- 12:16literally when I walk to the gym, half the time I'll be at a
- 12:20stop sign, like about to cross and a car would just like come
- 12:25right through the stop sign making a right turn and don't
- 12:27know that I'm there. Because when they're making a
- 12:29right turn at a stop sign, they're looking left.
- 12:30They're not looking right. That's not you need to look both
- 12:34ways. OK.
- 12:35Like when you're at a stop sign, you need to, there could be
- 12:37pedestrians. But in LA, people don't expect
- 12:40there to be pedestrians ever. So I got to this stop sign.
- 12:44I didn't step off the curb, but like this guy just like, you
- 12:48know, like was making a right turn and didn't like stop, stop
- 12:50for the stop sign and like didn't check that there might be
- 12:52pedestrians. So I just like by the time you
- 12:55recognize I was there, I was like just standing right beside
- 12:57his passenger window. I just like threw up my hands.
- 12:59It's just annoying. But anyways, that's why I don't
- 13:02like it when cars have their front side windows tinted really
- 13:06dark because I can't see the driver and I can't confirm that
- 13:10the driver has seen me. And it's only barely.
- 13:15It's not even a mile to walk to the gym each way.
- 13:17It's not a super long walk, it's like 1520 minutes.
- 13:21And I do that walk like 3 or 4 times a week.
- 13:24But even that short little walk because it's in the middle of
- 13:27Lai can't rely on drivers to see me as a pedestrian exists at a
- 13:33stop sign anyways. But I'm getting my cart into not
- 13:38to tint the dark just to give some UV protection because I'm
- 13:41very into that. For your skin and everything.
- 13:43And you know, it takes them like a couple hours to tint in your
- 13:46car. So I brought it to this tent
- 13:48place and nearby was a Westfield, a shopping mall.
- 13:52And I was like, OK, I'll drop my car off.
- 13:55It would take him, you know, hour and a half, two hours,
- 13:58whatever and I just go to the Westfield and kill some time.
- 14:01Originally, I was going to bring my laptop and try to do a little
- 14:04bit of work, but I ended up just not doing that much.
- 14:09Dropped off the car, grabbed a little Starbucks, grabbed a
- 14:13little Shake Shack, and then I just walked around a little bit.
- 14:16And then, you know, before I knew it, the car was done.
- 14:18I only talked about like barely, barely an hour, hour and a half,
- 14:23but I was just walking around the mall a little bit.
- 14:26It has been a long time since I've been in the mall and I was
- 14:28thinking, what am IA high school?
- 14:30Kidding. Class in a Monday.
- 14:31It was like a Monday afternoon and there's a surprising amount
- 14:36of people, but I thought the mall would be kind of dead on a
- 14:39Monday afternoon, like 3:00 PM on a Monday afternoon at a mall.
- 14:43Like it's only, it's only kids cutting class and people who are
- 14:48not employed, right? But anyways, I just had a little
- 14:54drink, had a little food, walked around a little bit, and I
- 14:58randomly walked into the Target for no particular reason.
- 15:03And in the target, I walked by the stationary out and I was
- 15:06just looking at some, I was just looking at random things at the
- 15:08target. Seriously.
- 15:10And then I just looked at some station.
- 15:11You know what really like when I saw the stationary sign as you
- 15:14walk down a target of warm or whatever, you see those big
- 15:17giant signs that tells you what section of items you're in.
- 15:21And I passed by like the stationary section.
- 15:24And I first thought was I could use new scissors.
- 15:28I don't know why I was just browsing just to kill time.
- 15:31And then they had a section of notebooks and I was just, and I
- 15:35just walked by this section of notebooks and then they had some
- 15:38books that were part notebooks and part books.
- 15:44And I picked up this book again. If you're on the video version
- 15:49of the of the podcast, you can see it and it's and it's 3000
- 15:54questions. Is he going to focus?
- 15:56It's 3000 questions about me and it was where all the notebooks
- 16:01and journals are. And it's basically 3.
- 16:05There's 3000 questions here. I'm curious to see if they
- 16:08repeat any questions. There must be some repeats in
- 16:10here that the editors didn't catch.
- 16:14But there's 3000 questions in here.
- 16:16And I thought it's only like 10 bucks.
- 16:19And I thought, oh, this might be useful for the podcast.
- 16:23And so today we're going to use it.
- 16:24I'm going to randomly pick out. I'm going to grab a I'm going
- 16:27to, I want to grab like that. OK, I'm just going to randomly
- 16:31pick out a page. OK, so we're on.
- 16:34OK, so all these are numbered. So I'm just going to pick up
- 16:37like I'm just going to go through a few of these questions
- 16:41just for entertainment purposes. I think we just pick out a few.
- 16:44OK, all these number question 1330, question 1366.
- 16:52What's the biggest area in your life in which you need to
- 16:55improve? Oh, procrastination for sure.
- 17:00Sometimes I have dreams that I am trying to go somewhere, like
- 17:07walking. I'm trying to walk to go
- 17:08somewhere and my legs feel super, super heavy.
- 17:11Have you ever had that dream? I had this recurring dream where
- 17:15I'm trying to go somewhere, walk somewhere, get from A to B, and
- 17:19like I'm trying to just even walk at the normal speed and
- 17:23like I can't. I'm moving so slowly but some of
- 17:26my legs are super super slow. So I googled it one day and
- 17:30apparently it's basically me telling myself I'm
- 17:35procrastinating too much and to get off my lazy fucking ass.
- 17:39So I think procrastination. I think I'll be so much more
- 17:43efficient if I didn't spend 40 minutes in bed in the morning
- 17:49when I wake up on my phone before I got out.
- 17:51It's like little things like that.
- 17:53It's very, it's kind of easy for me to waste time.
- 17:55I think if I was more efficient, you know, just like went and did
- 17:59stuff, I would get so much more stuff done.
- 18:02So I think that's the biggest area of my life where I need to
- 18:04prove Question 1367. Are you comfortable learning new
- 18:08things? What was the last new thing you
- 18:10learned? I don't sit down and think, oh,
- 18:15I'm going to go learn German. Nothing big like that.
- 18:20I feel like I learn tiny little things all the time, kind of
- 18:27half out of necessity, half out of curiosity.
- 18:30For example, when I'm doing a work thing and I'm always
- 18:33thinking, oh, is there like a way to do this?
- 18:36Is there a way to do that? You know, I was trying to take
- 18:39some photos of some products and there was this product bottle I
- 18:43was taking a photo of and it's shiny, it's plastic, glossy
- 18:46plastic on the outside and it reflects the photography lights
- 18:51that I have. And then I just try to look up,
- 18:55oh, is there a way to remove those reflections on glossy
- 18:58product bottles in product photograph?
- 19:01And there is, there are some ways in like Photoshop, for
- 19:03example, there are few tools you can use to actually do that.
- 19:07So I'm always learning tiny little new things like that.
- 19:11That's, you know, it's like, it's also work thing.
- 19:14It's like a work thing. I'm doing these photos and I was
- 19:17like, OK, well, it's, it's, I'll Google something and I'll learn,
- 19:21Oh, it is possible to, to do that.
- 19:24Sometimes I'm curious about how to do some other things.
- 19:27I don't know. But usually it's because it's
- 19:29like a work thing or like a house thing that I'll like
- 19:31Google something. It's like, oh, is this possible?
- 19:32Or like how to fix that? And that's kind of how I learn
- 19:35new things, but I'm comfortable with it.
- 19:37OK, I'm going to skip question 1368, which is what is your
- 19:41favorite mystery series? Because I don't like mystery.
- 19:48OK, And this will be the last one, Question 1369 describing
- 19:52one word. How do you want your retirement
- 19:54to be stress free? That's one word, right?
- 20:00It it's a hyphenated word. Is it?
- 20:02It's it's stress free, a hyphenated word.
- 20:03I'm going to say it's one word. So there you go.
- 20:06Whenever I run out of topics to talk about on the podcast, I'm
- 20:12going to keep this book right here in my podcasting station.
- 20:16So when whenever I I'm I'm out of topics or just to switch it
- 20:22up, I can go reach I can go reach for the book and I can
- 20:25give you guys a a few questions out of that.
- 20:29But anyways, I did want to talk about the podcast I did last
- 20:33time, which I realized I was trying to talk about 15 minutes
- 20:37and I had this idea to talk about how to hit on me after I
- 20:41did a podcast. I'd said I wanted to re record
- 20:45it because after I did that podcast again, but I didn't have
- 20:49the outline. I was like, oh, I didn't
- 20:51actually talk about what I really wanted to talk about.
- 20:54So here are some of the things I thought about on how do, how I
- 21:00like to be hit on after I stop recording, if that makes any
- 21:03sense. Because one time this was, oh,
- 21:07this is many years ago, I was on a trip, I went on a trip to
- 21:12somewhere. I think I was in Vegas, not to
- 21:14like party or you know, whatever, but like Fran was
- 21:17having, I think a Fran was having some sort of like
- 21:20volleyball, like gay volleyball tournament.
- 21:22I think it was in Vegas many, many years ago.
- 21:25And he's like, oh, I'm going to be in Vegas doing this thing.
- 21:29You wouldn't like come out for like a weekend.
- 21:31It was like something like that. Forgot something along those
- 21:34lines. And then I remember we were at
- 21:37like some sort of house gathering.
- 21:38It wasn't like a party per SE. It was like some house gathering
- 21:40during the day. And I remember we were like
- 21:43sitting by the pool in the in the background of this house.
- 21:47So it was like a Airbnb or something like that.
- 21:49And like they're like, like various people there obviously.
- 21:54And I didn't know most of them. So I was just talking to random
- 21:56people. And like this one guy, he was
- 21:59hitting on me, but not not like super obvious, like he was
- 22:02interested in me. And he was like, you know, we
- 22:03were like just talking, just making conversation.
- 22:06And I have this autographic memory of this one moment.
- 22:10I guess I had, I just, I cracked some joke apparently, because
- 22:18the next thing he said to me was you're really funny.
- 22:21But he said it in like a very like a very sincere way.
- 22:29Not like you're really funny, not like that.
- 22:32He said it in like a very honest, sincere way.
- 22:35And that I, I, I definitely noticed.
- 22:37I still remember that moment, but he was kind of like he was
- 22:40facing me like straight on. And he said it in just like a
- 22:43very, just like a very direct, honest, like kind of endearing
- 22:48ways, like you're really funny and that and then I thought that
- 22:52was that was really sweet. So that that worked.
- 22:56They hit on me. I think compliments generally
- 22:57work, but most of the time when guys hit on me and they give a
- 23:04compliment, for whatever reason, it doesn't feel genuine.
- 23:09So I don't know, maybe maybe it's I, I want to say it's them,
- 23:13I want to say it's not me. But I feel like if you go into
- 23:17hitting on someone and your thought process is I have to
- 23:24give them a compliment as part of hitting on them, it's, it's a
- 23:29chance it won't come off genuine, right?
- 23:34Because I don't know, to say like, oh, the all the typical
- 23:38compliments you can give someone you're trying to hit on.
- 23:40It's like, oh, you're, you're cute, you're hot, you're pretty,
- 23:44you're funny, you're smart, you're whatever.
- 23:46It's like, it has to be befitting the moment.
- 23:49Apparently in this memory that I have with this guy I had, I'm
- 23:54sure I had just cracked a joke. And then like right after that
- 23:59he's like, oh, you're really funny.
- 24:00Like, so like that worked for him to say that in that moment
- 24:04sometimes for someone to randomly just say, oh, you're
- 24:06like, oh, you're, you're really pretty.
- 24:08Just out of nowhere. It's not that I it's not that I
- 24:15don't believe them. It's a little narcissistic,
- 24:17isn't it? But it's like out of nowhere for
- 24:20someone to say like in the middle of a random conversation
- 24:23for them, it's like, oh, you're really pretty.
- 24:24I don't know. It just feels.
- 24:28Is that a little try hard? I guess maybe I maybe just that
- 24:33particular compliment doesn't resonate with me for whatever
- 24:36reason. Not because I yeah, yeah, I know
- 24:39I'm pretty well. It's not like that.
- 24:41It just, it just, I don't think it does anything for me to for
- 24:45someone to to say. I think I've had people tell me
- 24:49sometimes like, oh, like not not that much in person, but like,
- 24:54you know, grinding. You get any kind of message that
- 24:56you can imagine. I don't know, I think it's half
- 25:01the battle is about the delivery.
- 25:02You're going to give someone a compliment to hit on them.
- 25:04So it has to feel like sincere and genuine for it to work.
- 25:09It's a vibe of how it's delivered.
- 25:12And yeah, I've had people tell me that, you know, like they,
- 25:16they find me physically attractive somehow.
- 25:19But most of the time it just comes off as like you're saying
- 25:24it just to say it. It's like, yes, I I believe that
- 25:27they do believe what they're saying.
- 25:28They're not lying, but it just feels like just just, you know,
- 25:34they're just following the hitting on someone one O 1
- 25:38textbook. It doesn't feel like I don't
- 25:44know it it didn't work. Let let's put it that way.
- 25:48So I think like that's yeah, that's like I, I don't don't
- 25:52remember why compliments didn't make its way into the last
- 25:56podcast episode, but they should have should it's a it's a very
- 26:00common and usually pretty effective, I think way to hit on
- 26:04someone, something else that I think works for me, not in terms
- 26:08of like hitting on me, but if it, one of the things for me is
- 26:15like being a considerate person, especially in terms of like your
- 26:19surroundings to like other people around you in public.
- 26:23That's like a thing for me. And if I can, if I observe
- 26:26someone not being particularly considerate of others in the
- 26:31public setting, yeah, their their value goes down in my
- 26:36book. Like at the gym, It's where I
- 26:39observe this a lot. It's like, are you the kind of
- 26:41person to like wipe up the bench after you've been using it?
- 26:46I noticed as I went down my bench.
- 26:49Oh, you know what's so annoying? It's people that use equipment
- 26:54as a table to put their stuff on.
- 26:57If you do that, like I, I'm already, I already found you not
- 27:00attractive like from the off. So for me, one of the things is
- 27:05I need to see that you are you're considerate of your
- 27:08surroundings, like you're aware and consider of your
- 27:11surroundings. That's probably something I'm a
- 27:13little pickier on than most other people.
- 27:17Hey, babe, you want to get with me?
- 27:18Like that's just how it is. I don't think there's anything
- 27:21you can say or do to demonstrate that.
- 27:25It's like in a job interview, you know, you can't just say
- 27:27whatever you think I want to hear to get the job because it's
- 27:31it doesn't work. I give it.
- 27:33I guess maybe that's why when people tell me like, oh, like
- 27:36you're like you're you're cute or you're good looking or
- 27:39whatever. I just feel like it's not that
- 27:42they don't mean it, but they're trying to just say the things
- 27:45that I, they think I want to hear, like in a job interview.
- 27:49By the way, in a job interview, if you, especially if you are
- 27:54younger in your career, when you are saying things to, if you're
- 28:00saying things that you think the interviewer wants to hear, it's
- 28:03usually quite transparent. Any remotely skilled interviewer
- 28:08can see right through that. And when I used to interviews,
- 28:11like I can always pick up when it's not even the little words
- 28:15that they say. It's a lot of body language as
- 28:18well. And it's also like the tongue
- 28:19and like the inflection, like the little things like that.
- 28:22You can tell when someone when you ask a question and someone
- 28:25is scrabbing a little bit in their head to come to like come
- 28:30up with the fully formed answer. And that's OK.
- 28:33But sometimes you ask a question and like, no, the the person
- 28:37being interviewed, they don't know what questions you're going
- 28:38to ask. So every question you ask is a
- 28:41surprise under the bag, Right. But I was at a Starbucks
- 28:46recently just grabbing a coffee and then apparently the the
- 28:50store managers interviewing someone at the Starbucks just so
- 28:54they were at a table off off in the corner.
- 28:57But I was just waiting for at the bar, waiting for my drink to
- 29:00be to come out. So it's only like, I don't know,
- 29:046 feet away. And I can, I didn't hear exactly
- 29:07word for word what they said, but I can tell like the manager
- 29:11asked some question and like the person being interviewed, I can
- 29:14just tell in like their tone of voices like, oh, you're, you're
- 29:18trying to think, OK, what does this person want to hear?
- 29:21And what should I actually say? Because I don't think I have a
- 29:23actual answer for that person. I can't just say like whatever
- 29:28and get away with it. I I could just tell from that
- 29:30tone. That's one of the parts of the
- 29:32job that I actually enjoy when I was doing the nine to five was
- 29:35actually hiring and interviewing people.
- 29:38I just, I just felt like it was it came naturally to me.
- 29:41Some people don't like doing interviews and things like that,
- 29:44but I actually liked it. I like hiring people.
- 29:46I mean, I didn't really have to fire anyone, but it wasn't
- 29:50comfortable with fire people. I think nowadays I'd be
- 29:52comfortable with just letting someone go.
- 29:54But nowadays I'm so much more like business minded with like
- 29:57running my own businesses. I actually really would love to
- 30:00have an employee, but if the businesses get that successful
- 30:05to have for me to have an employee, I just need to make
- 30:09sure my employees are not hot. They don't need to be.
- 30:13I just can't be distracted. You know, this attempt, I feel
- 30:17like I'm thinking about that episode of Friends when Rachel
- 30:21hires Tag as her personal assistant or office assistant
- 30:27because he's just hot. I don't want that because yes, I
- 30:32like to Google hot guys, but only in the appropriate context.
- 30:38Like if you're hot and you are good at your job, fine.
- 30:43But like, if, if you're someone that I need to work with,
- 30:46especially some if you're my employee, you really need to be
- 30:51able to get shit done. It's like I, I can't have it.
- 30:54I can't hire income if I'm, if I'm paying you like, I don't
- 30:57know, 6080. However, whatever the job is,
- 31:01whatever the pays for like that. If I'm paying you like 678090,
- 31:04however many fat 10s of thousands of dollars and also
- 31:08probably give you insurance and whatever other benefits.
- 31:11It's like you need to, you need to be good at your job.
- 31:15You don't need to be like the absolute best at that particular
- 31:19job that everyone, anyone has ever done in the world.
- 31:21But it's like you have to be like pretty good at that job.
- 31:24Like whatever that thing I hired you for, you got to be like
- 31:27pretty decent at that. So looking pretty, it's not
- 31:31going to get you the job because I'm not.
- 31:33So if I want to look at pretty guys, I'll go to my gym.
- 31:38I'll I'll go down to the bars in West Hollywood.
- 31:40I'll look at some Google boys. I'll go watch some porn.
- 31:42You know, I'm not going to, I don't need to, I don't need to
- 31:45pay you $80,000 a year for you to look pretty.
- 31:49It's like you need to do actual stuff.
- 31:52But it's like, yeah, I recorded. Anyways.
- 31:54I was, yeah. Getting back to last week's
- 31:56episode, I was like, Oh yeah, I should have, I should have
- 31:59talked about compliments because I did have this like 1
- 32:01photographic memory of like when, when this guy gave me a
- 32:06compliment. Yeah.
- 32:07And someone who's someone who demonstrates just them being
- 32:11like considerate of others doesn't mean they have to go out
- 32:14of their way to like, open a door for someone.
- 32:16It's more about, you know, like not leaving, like not leaving
- 32:21trash behind and like cleaning up after yourself.
- 32:24It's not like going out of the way to help others, if that
- 32:27makes any sense. You know, like like tucking your
- 32:30chair in when you, when you're, when you leave, when you, when
- 32:33you leave the restaurant or something like that.
- 32:36So that's not in like someone else's way, like wiping up and
- 32:39putting your weights away at the gym.
- 32:41I don't know why people don't put weights away at the gym.
- 32:43So it's like that type of like being considerate.
- 32:47That's also like very, that's also very attractive to me.
- 32:50Great smile. You know, that's not making
- 32:52control. Obviously.
- 32:54I think I like a guy that's a little bit, could be a little
- 32:57bit wacky. You know, I, I know that
- 33:01especially in a place like LA, it's very much about looks and
- 33:05appearances and Polish. You know, everybody needs to
- 33:07drive a nice car here. You know, I just got a car and
- 33:10it's not, it's not a, it's, it's not a luxury badge that's on the
- 33:16hood. It's not some BMW, Audi,
- 33:19Mercedes, Lexus, whatever. That's very popular here.
- 33:22And I've had, I've owned many BMWs, I've had a Mercedes like
- 33:26I, I do like cars and I luxury cars are nice, OK.
- 33:29So it's nice to have nice things.
- 33:30I get it, it and I, I have purchased, I have had several
- 33:35Beamers just for Full disclosure, but I just got this
- 33:39car and it's not a luxury brand, just a, just a, a mainstream
- 33:44name plate. And I thought, oh, it's kind of
- 33:46nice not to. It's it's nice not to have a
- 33:50showy car for once. I have had like I had a Ford
- 33:53Fiesta not that long ago and it was nice because I got it used
- 33:58for like really cheap and it was kind of like a beater and having
- 34:00a beater is kind of fun. I had a Mini Cooper 1, so I also
- 34:02got used for like not not a lot of money.
- 34:05And that was also kind of like a beater.
- 34:07It's actually a lot of fun. So I just got a card and it was
- 34:09like that. But I don't know.
- 34:10He's very into appearances, but I think I like a guy who can be
- 34:14like a little bit wacky in the sense that they don't.
- 34:20I don't want the guy to look like Prim and Popper all the
- 34:23time. I don't want that picturesque
- 34:26look. Like, yes, I want to find them
- 34:29attractive as a whole, including physically.
- 34:32But you know, like when I'm with my close friends, you know,
- 34:36sometimes when we post our photos, we make like wacky
- 34:39faces, you know, as someone, I want someone who can kind of
- 34:43sort of let loose and have a little bit of that side to them
- 34:47as well. You know, sometimes I think of
- 34:50it like Grace Adler on Will and Grace.
- 34:54OK, I feel like I'm a little bit like that.
- 34:58It's like, yeah, when I'm normally out and about, as we
- 35:02all do, we like to be like, you know, we like to have, you know,
- 35:06our our hair all in place and we want to kind of, you know, look
- 35:10good for the world, you know, before you like, open your door
- 35:14and leave the house in the morning.
- 35:15I get it. You know, we all do that.
- 35:17But I feel like there's, there's, there's definitely a
- 35:21bit of messiness as well in my life, I think, as most people
- 35:26do. But I feel like most people try
- 35:27to conceal it so much. And I'm, I've got to a point in
- 35:30my life at least where, yeah, I'm, I'm fine being like a
- 35:34little messy. And I don't feel like I need to
- 35:38impress people. And I just kind of want to do my
- 35:41own thing. And sometimes I'm like a little
- 35:43wacky, you know, sometimes I like making like weird faces in
- 35:47a selfie. So I would prefer to be with
- 35:52someone that also has a little bit of that with them.
- 35:54I've dated guys where they just don't, I guess they do probably
- 35:59have a little bit of wackiness in them, but like, they, they
- 36:02just felt like they couldn't be themselves like that.
- 36:06Yeah. And it just didn't work up.
- 36:07But I just found that too vanilla.
- 36:11I'm kind of a, I'm not like a super interesting person, but
- 36:14you know, I, I just like being able to be with someone who can
- 36:18be like a little wacky, a little kooky, you know, not all the
- 36:23time, but like have those like little wacky, kooky, kind of
- 36:27like off kilter moments. I think that would be the type
- 36:30of person that I can actually see myself with someone who's
- 36:33just like very like straight laced.
- 36:35It's never going to work. We need, we need, we need, we
- 36:38need a little bit of crazy in there.
- 36:40Just a touch. All right, I think we talked
- 36:43about 50 different topics today in the podcast.
- 36:46But you know, I this is this is what you, if you're still
- 36:49listening, I mean, this is what this podcast is all about.
- 36:54This is for me and not for you. If you found some enjoyment out
- 36:57of it, great. If not, then I got to plug some
- 37:00of my stuff, which is great for me.
- 37:03What's in it for you? I don't know, but hey, you
- 37:06blinked and you've just killed 30 minutes waiting for whatever
- 37:10you needed to wait for, So there you go, and I did.
- 37:13Next time. Bye y'all.
