A man named Aaron Farinacci has been arrested for allegedly starting the Old Trails Fire in Spokane, admitting he’d planned it for weeks using weather apps to pick the perfect day. He’s also confessed to igniting 25 other fires over a month last summer, facing five counts of first-degree arson. With over 900 buildings destroyed and more than 67,000 displaced, this is part of a larger wildfire crisis.
