- Lucas: Hey there, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 102 — can you believe it? We've done over a hundred of these. Lucas: I know. And you guys keep showing up. Today we're going to talk about something we all experience: the seasons. Luna: Oh, I love the seasons. We did weather before, but seasons are like the bigger picture. Lucas: Exactly. So we'll learn four simple phrases using 'en' plus the season, and then we'll ask about favorite seasons. Luna: Perfect. Let's start with spring: primavera. Lucas: Right. En primavera — that means 'in spring.' And we say: En primavera hace buen tiempo. Luna: En primavera hace buen tiempo. So that's 'In spring the weather is nice.' Lucas: Yes. Good. Now summer: verano. En verano hace calor. Luna: En verano hace calor. In summer it's hot. I like that one. Lucas: Autumn: otoño. En otoño hace viento. Luna: En otoño hace viento. In autumn it's windy. I think of leaves blowing. Lucas: Exactly. And winter: invierno. En invierno hace frío. Luna: En invierno hace frío. In winter it's cold. Okay, can we practice all four in a row? Lucas: Sure. Repeat after me: En primavera hace buen tiempo. Luna: En primavera hace buen tiempo. Lucas: En verano hace calor. Luna: En verano hace calor. Lucas: En otoño hace viento. Luna: En otoño hace viento. Lucas: En invierno hace frío. Luna: En invierno hace frío. Lucas: Nice! Now let's put them in a little dialogue. I'll ask you: ¿Cuál es tu estación favorita? Luna: ¿Cuál es tu estación favorita? That's 'What is your favorite season?' Lucas: Yes. So I'll ask you. ¿Cuál es tu estación favorita? Luna: Mi estación favorita es el verano. Because I love the heat. En verano hace calor. Lucas: Good. And your turn, listeners: think about your favorite season. Say it in Spanish. Luna: Yeah, take a moment. If you like spring, you'd say: Mi estación favorita es la primavera. Lucas: And if it's autumn: Mi estación favorita es el otoño. Winter: Mi estación favorita es el invierno. Luna: Awesome. So now we can talk about seasons. But Lucas, I've been thinking — you know what I love about this podcast? Lucas: What's that, Luna? Luna: How Fexingo helps people actually learn. And it's totally ad-free. I know that's because listeners who can, support us on buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, that's true. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Spanish, and you want to keep it ad-free, that link is there. No pressure at all. It just helps us keep going. Luna: Exactly. And we appreciate every single one of you. Okay, back to seasons. Let's practice one more time, but faster. Lucas: Okay, I'll say the season, you say the weather phrase. Spring. Luna: En primavera hace buen tiempo. Lucas: Summer. Luna: En verano hace calor. Lucas: Autumn. Luna: En otoño hace viento. Lucas: Winter. Luna: En invierno hace frío. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's do a mini conversation. Imagine you're talking to a friend. I'll start: Hola, ¿cuál es tu estación favorita? Luna: Mi estación favorita es el verano. ¿Y la tuya? Lucas: Mi estación favorita es el otoño. Me gusta el viento. Luna: Ah, that's nice. So listeners, now you can have that chat too. Lucas: Yeah. And if you forget a word, just remember the pattern: en + season + weather phrase. Luna: One more tip: 'estación' is feminine, so we say 'la estación.' But the season names themselves: primavera is feminine, verano is masculine, otoño is masculine, invierno is masculine. Lucas: Good point. So 'la primavera,' 'el verano,' 'el otoño,' 'el invierno.' Luna: Great. Okay, I think I've got it. Let's review once more: En primavera hace buen tiempo. Lucas: En verano hace calor. Luna: En otoño hace viento. Lucas: En invierno hace frío. Luna: And ¿Cuál es tu estación favorita? Lucas: Perfect. That's all for today. Practice these phrases, and next time we'll build on them. Thanks for learning with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time. ¡Hasta luego!
