- 0:12This is the Wheel of Time Spoilers podcast. Well, yeah, so we're
- 0:19digging into within the Stone chapter twenty one. Our symbol is the Well,
- 0:25we give it a lot of names in this chapter, don't we. The
- 0:29ancient symbol of the is said I the dragon banner. There's another name that
- 0:34I'm blanking on right now because it'll have it in front of me, the
- 0:36banner of light, the banner of light. Thank you, yep that one,
- 0:40And he goes even says, which is confusing because there's another dragon.
- 0:43There's another banner called the banner of the Dragon. It's like, yes,
- 0:47thank you Jordan for acknowledging you double dipped on that one. I think it's
- 0:52also part of how legends fade to myth. There's a double vision and confusion
- 0:58of names right from the get go. Do you expect it to make sense
- 1:00a thousand years later? Right? Right? And what I love too,
- 1:04there's a moment with the dragon where they give it wings. Uh huh,
- 1:07yeah, the dragon we all know and love comes into existence as this bizarre
- 1:14camera of things that are happening in the moment, and Randa's like, that
- 1:18is so silly. That is the weirdest thing. I've ever seen, and
- 1:21we're all doing like the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV meme, Right,
- 1:25but that's the dragon. That's what dragons are, right right, all right,
- 1:32I'll read this in crash comes from Yeah I heard that, Like,
- 1:36what's going on? Are we? Okay timbers running to investigate, so we'll
- 1:38find out. Okay, okay, okay, cool? Good because that was
- 1:48like glass or something. Yeah, Like what I'm what I'm guessing is that
- 1:53she was pulling out a bowl and there's a glass bowl inside a metal bowl,
- 1:57and she tried to pull out one and they both kind of came out.
- 2:00But it's a low cabinet, so it probably fell from a low cabinet
- 2:01to a low floor. That very loud, but not a problem. Exactly
- 2:07exactly within the stone, the mud of the outer city gave way to paved
- 2:13streets at the walls of Tier, where the first thing Ran noticed was the
- 2:16absence of guards. Despite the lofty stone ramparts with their towers, the city
- 2:23was less defended than Steadying Shangtai, where he and every other human had been
- 2:27gently but firmly refused entrance at first light. Here, the Archer's balconies on
- 2:32the towers were empty. The iron strapped door of the squat gray guardhouse just
- 2:38inside the broad gate stood wide open, and a hard faced woman in rough
- 2:42woolens, her sleeves shoved up her thin arms, sat there at a wooden
- 2:46tub, scrubbing clothes with a washboard. She appeared to have taken up residents.
- 2:53Two small, grubby children, sucking their thumbs, stared wide eyed past
- 2:58her at him and his companions at their horses. At least Titashar was a
- 3:02sight to stare at a sleek black stallion with a massive chest, a horse
- 3:07that drew attention. Yet he had chosen to ride the animal anyway. If
- 3:12the forsaken could find him as easily as they had at Algarin's manor house,
- 3:16there was little point to hiding, or at least to putting too much effort
- 3:20into it. He wore black riding gloves to conceal the dragon's heads on his
- 3:24hands, and the herons branded into his palms. His coat was dark gray
- 3:29wool without a stitch of embroidery, The stallion's saddlecloth simple, and his swords
- 3:34hilt and scabbard had been covered in unworked bore hide ever since it came into
- 3:38his possession. Nothing to pull a second glance. Cod Swain an unadorned gray
- 3:44wool were the hood of her dark green cloak well up to shield her eyesidye
- 3:49face, But men Ninive and Olivia had no need for hiding. Though Min's
- 3:53flower embroidered red coat and snug breeches might attract a little notice, not to
- 3:59mention her healed red bootze. He had seen women and Kyrie and wearing clothes
- 4:02like that copying her, Yet it seemed unlikely that her fashion had spread to
- 4:06tear or a modesty held sway in public at least, and Ninive was wearing
- 4:12yellow slash, blue silk and Oliver jewelry, just partially concealed by her blue
- 4:17cloak, but tear would be full of silks. She had wanted to wear
- 4:21her shawl that was in her saddle bags, though a little effort only Okay,
- 4:26I got to stop there. That's that is a long reading for that
- 4:30paragraph was a lot of This is a flowery descriptive chapter, and I like
- 4:38it quite a bit. It's a lot to read. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:41and I'd say that that is yeah, broadly accurate for this whole chapter.
- 4:45This chapter is very flowery and ornate and dense in its pros. We are
- 4:50looking at Tier in high fidelity, granular detail, and it's lovely, beautiful,
- 4:57excellent. Why we come back to this world and over again is because
- 5:00the details are extremely high fidelity. This is one of those chapters so that
- 5:06reading and how you feel about it is kind of hyphe about the whole chapters
- 5:11just we're just chugging along, just having a grand ole time. Nothing really
- 5:15happens, but it's just so dense with the nothing. It's what makes the
- 5:23world three D is we get to take a stroll through Tier, and we
- 5:27get to see how it's been, what's happened to it since the last time
- 5:30Rand was here. Right, it's been a while, right, Rand has
- 5:33sort of abandoned it, He's left it in Darlane's stewardship to borrow a term.
- 5:41Yeah, and I mean something does happen, obviously, you know,
- 5:44like we actually have the whole King Darlin thing at the end. Obviously that's
- 5:47a thing that happens, but it feels very just buried in amongst all the
- 5:51detail rather than like the big standout event, because yeah, this is him
- 5:57traveling into and then having a meeting. That's the events, right. He
- 6:03walks into the stable and then makes a gateway. We'll talk about exactly how
- 6:08he can make that gateway, travels into the throne room and has a conversation
- 6:13and gets some treaties back. Some people were negotiating a treaty and they came
- 6:17back with the signatures. Yeah. RJ took what is fundamentally a very bureaucratic
- 6:23side quest and made it into one of these spaces where, yeah, the
- 6:27world is just suddenly three D, super super super three D, and it's
- 6:31very fun. One thing that I noted in that reading is it seemed unlikely
- 6:38that men's fashion had spread to tear. We learned later in the chapter it
- 6:43absolutely has like rand you know nothing. You know nothing about how fashion moves.
- 6:47You might kind of sort of know a little bit about how bad news
- 6:50moves, or how armies communicate over long distances. You do not understand fashion,
- 6:56not in the slightest. The next thing we see sort of after that
- 7:00introduction, right, which is everybody walking on scene, is the steam wagon.
- 7:05Yeah, the horseless carriage, the beginning of trains. I would say
- 7:11that the other thing this chapter has in it is some payoffs, right,
- 7:14like, yes, yeah, it has some payoffs from some setups earlier on
- 7:16in the series. And here we see what I call almost a half payoff
- 7:20with the wagons, right, like, oh, they've traveled one hundred and
- 7:25fifty miles a day towing what fIF there's eight of them. They totaled like
- 7:31fifty wagons each. So they were towing like ten to twelve wagons each.
- 7:36Right, so you basically have a train of these things. You have trains
- 7:42that's traveling over land, a prototype train. Yeah, it changes everything,
- 7:46right, yeah, but only we know that. It's just buried in there
- 7:50as this little throwaway detail of this tiny, little like eight tier subplot about
- 7:57this inventor. And clearly this isn't the end of the road for like what
- 8:00he's doing with that, This isn't the real payoff. It's just so by
- 8:03the bye and yet and yet, and yet it's really cool detail. This
- 8:09is a momentous moment, it's very important, and it's yeah, just very
- 8:13richly delivered in this really understated way. But yes, you're right, this
- 8:16is a chapter of payoff in a way that's just satisfying without being explosive.
- 8:24Yeah, yeah, it's satisfying. It's not exciting, it's satisfying. Those
- 8:28are two different kinds of good things. Yeah, I got Yeah, I
- 8:31feel like I ate a big meal when I got to the end of this
- 8:33chapter, you know, like I was like, Okay, yeah, that
- 8:37was that was tasty, Like I enjoyed that, but okay, a little
- 8:43too much there, right, Like maybe the detail added a lot of fiber.
- 8:48There's a lot of fiber in this chapter, and I just hope it
- 8:52doesn't get impacted. And in this case, the fiber is diamond eyed golden
- 8:56animals interacting in various ways, Like how many different freaking instances of these weird
- 9:03animal figurines with ruby eyes do we have to get like rand melted one way
- 9:09back in the early books, Okay, and then there's like a zillion of
- 9:13them on the walk through the Stone, like literally a zillion. I counted,
- 9:18there are exactly one zillion. Tear must just loves their figurines, right,
- 9:22like it's a Tyran thing. It's like a thing that they do.
- 9:26It's like there's the rug pattern that they have a Tyrann mazes, and then
- 9:30these weird figurines with precious stones for eyes that there's just a very specifically tyrann
- 9:35cultural export. It's an esthetic, yeah, or not even an export,
- 9:39it's just a thing they do at home because I know what words mean,
- 9:43and I care about consistently using words, unlike most of the people in the
- 9:46scoddamn world. So after the whistle, you know, there's a bit of
- 9:52a piercing whistle right that he hears, and then that scares the pigeons into
- 9:58flight, and we get the severe in flack flack frack whack. Right,
- 10:01all the pigeons fly into each other. He's tavereating hard. So the two
- 10:05flocks one to one kao each other, right. Weird that they would be
- 10:11exactly matched. That the that the I guess it's one flock splits into exactly
- 10:16two halves and flies into itself. Very strange. I would be willing to
- 10:20bet it's more like two distinct flocks. It's very strange that they're exactly the
- 10:24same size flock because he says every bird falls and that means that every bird
- 10:28had to collide with another bird, and it's like that's highly unlikely. Yes,
- 10:33yeah, tavering go that far, I'm gonna draw the line at the
- 10:37flocks being the same number. I'm not, I'm not. I mean flocks
- 10:41being the same number, every bird having a pair, every bird hitting a
- 10:45pair, every bird hitting a single other pair. They're both falling out of
- 10:46the sky simultaneously. It's just this, It's I kind of imagine it like
- 10:52these two totally chaotic thing waves meeting and one hundred percent canceling each other out.
- 10:56Oh yeah, yeah, like the inverse of a rogue wave. Exactly
- 11:01right. And so again, what are we riding here. We're writing waves
- 11:05of proper, waves of probability. We're writing probability waves. So you have
- 11:11these weird patterns, and sometimes the patterns cancel each other out. And this
- 11:13to me is a physical manestation of like a dead spot in a room.
- 11:18Yeah yeah, yeah. For whatever reason, he's just really warping the weft
- 11:26of the pattern hard right now, and tavere And has got to try to
- 11:30balance that shit out. I kind of think of it that like, basically,
- 11:33he needs things to align for him right now before the pattern. So
- 11:37his tevereness is reaching out incredibly far to make long reaching, big, significant
- 11:45changes, but because so many things are changing far away from him, he's
- 11:48balanced by all these unlikely things happening further in right, exactly, because this
- 11:54is weird shit that doesn't need to happen unless it's counterbalanced for something else or
- 12:00a manifestation of the pattern falling apart. Obviously we have that as a factor
- 12:03too. But though Land is one with the dragon, he could be using
- 12:05Tavern to counterbalance the dark one even now, you know, I mean he
- 12:11does it deliberately later, but you know, but don't forget, things really
- 12:15change when he goes onto the mountaintop, right, because that's when he really
- 12:18does become the counterbalance. That's when he's able to do good things deliberately,
- 12:22because he can be the counterbalance to the dark one doing bad things deliberately,
- 12:26and he's sort of the balance of free will. But until he goes up
- 12:30onto the mountain, I don't know if he's doing any of that. I
- 12:31think he is just pushing and pulling in equal ways. Do you think that
- 12:35this is just because of the thing you said before? I mean, of
- 12:41course I do. I think I'm right, No, and I couldn't possibly
- 12:45be wrong or mistaken. Okay, that's valid. That's that's really good logic.
- 12:50Uh huh. Bow to your manly wisdom. Thank you. Thank you.
- 12:54I man explained it and you listened, and I don't think we need
- 12:58to discuss it any further. I think that's what this podcast is all about,
- 13:01by the power of being tranquilized by what we're talking about. So I
- 13:05guess you can have your way. Well thanks, Yeah, okay, pigeons
- 13:09hitting each other, pigeons and the nobles ringing the pigeons next, right along
- 13:13with the peasants. Everyone's like free pigeons, yes, and they're just going
- 13:18for it. So that's great. Bad day to be a pigeon. I
- 13:22mean, hunger is a problem. Yeah, hunger is a problem in the
- 13:24city. It is, it is, and pigeons are good food. They
- 13:28are sky rats, sky rabbits. Are you aware that they were domes?
- 13:31They're basically wild domestic they're feral, which is yes, they were domesticated and
- 13:37they've been let go. Yeah, well, I think ferrel implies they've reverted
- 13:43back to a wild state, which I don't believe pigeons have for doves,
- 13:48which are the same thing. Well, I mean you can have like feral
- 13:52cats are still feeless domestics, right right, So I think, yes,
- 13:56yeah, I believe pigeons are a feral bird population. Huh. I'm actually
- 14:01not sure if I knew that. I feel like I know some weird pigeon
- 14:05facts, but I don't know if I knew that one. But right,
- 14:07we domesticated pigeons. We use them as food, we use them as messenger
- 14:11birds, obviously specific kinds. But like they were pets, and like then
- 14:16we stopped keeping them as pets and let them go and they thrive, they
- 14:18like keep surviving in the wild. But it's a domesticated species. You know,
- 14:22Nikola Tesla was in love with a pigeon, He had a lifelong pigeon
- 14:26friend. Yes, I did know that, And you know, I grew
- 14:28up with birds. Right. At one point in my life I counted I
- 14:31had thirteen parrots living in my house. Wow, that's a lot of parrots.
- 14:35It's a lot of fucking parrot. It's like forsaken parrots, like well,
- 14:39you know. And the fact that none of those parrots my parents still
- 14:43don't own any of those parents should tell you something about how good they were
- 14:46about taking care of them. Some of them they gave away, some of
- 14:48them died, some of them got old. Very few of them managed to
- 14:52get old. It's hard to take care of parrots like they are. And
- 14:54they're not good birds. They're wild animals, they're not domesticated in any way.
- 15:01But yeah, they are brilliant. They're too fucking smart. The birds
- 15:07would say my name when I walked in the room. The birds that like
- 15:13me would get excited, the birds that didn't like me would go away.
- 15:16They could listen to verbal commands like a dog does. They could string two
- 15:24words together to make a request. I mean, birds are smart, and
- 15:26I understand parrots are generally smarter than other birds, but even a little more.
- 15:31You're smart. Birds are smart like and birds are also dinosaurs, right,
- 15:35yeah, yeah, the part where I'm really into paleontology videos among other
- 15:39things on YouTube, and they're really good about saying the extinction of the non
- 15:43avian dinosaurs. Now it's a really consistent thing, like with the channels I
- 15:48followed, They're very good about saying that, and it's just doing the necessary
- 15:52things to my subconscious and making me like more delighted and creeped out and fascinated
- 15:56by and horrified by birds just like dinosaurs. Like dinosaurs, the dinosaurs.
- 16:03I literally have one tattooed on my body dinosaur. Ah dinosaurs, so cool,
- 16:07so weird, so cool. Yeah. My mom occasionally will go through
- 16:11a phase of really wanting to get a pet and then going on a big
- 16:15research bender to determine that she is not in fact qualified to take care of
- 16:18said pet and like burn the enthusiasm on research instead of you know, getting
- 16:22a pet. And she went through a whole bird phase last year of like
- 16:26cycling through all these different kinds of birds that people keep as pets and learning
- 16:30why that's not great because they're super smart and this is really bad for them
- 16:33and that's really bad for them, and this is terrible and oh my god,
- 16:36they're so smart and like yeah, yeah, the whole pet bird thing
- 16:41is like, just make friends with some backyard chickens, man, Like,
- 16:45just have some backyard chickens and like have a dynamic farm relationship with birds.
- 16:48Don't have caged birds maybe, I guess, or just watch wild birds.
- 16:55I don't know. I live in a very birdy area, so I have
- 16:56lots of birds to look at and it's very awesome. Don't have to do
- 17:00anything, they just fly by. It's great. So the whole point of
- 17:04them picking up the birds is there's a lot of hunger in the city,
- 17:07and Men has visions basically that a bunch of these people are going to die
- 17:11of starvation, which means it's not just maybe they will die of starvation,
- 17:17which kind of sucks. Yeah, It's one of those unfortunate things about conflict
- 17:22is how many people die from not the direct violent conflict that you imagine,
- 17:26and how many of them die of illness and hunger as knock on effects from
- 17:32the violence. And it's not necessarily something that I saw in the final three
- 17:37books. I feel like Tyr did just fine. I don't remember it being
- 17:41starvation being such a big deal in the city. I was wondering about that
- 17:45because I was like, this feels like foreshadowing for Era Doomon, but we
- 17:51never circle back to Tyr like we circled back to Era Doomon. So yeah,
- 17:53I just I wanted to ask you about that. I was like,
- 17:56am I missing something? Is there a point here where Tier is just or
- 18:00is it just now where people are gonna die within the next week or two
- 18:03because it's hard to get food there, and like they are out of food
- 18:07now, and so it doesn't take that long for you know what, three
- 18:10meals and people start starving well, I mean, I feel like they're not
- 18:15on that level of a precipice. It's just, you know, the war
- 18:21of attrition is going on both sides of the siege, and one side is
- 18:23doing far worse than the others. But yeah, I I don't know.
- 18:33Does he get food brought in from somewhere else? No, he breaks the
- 18:37siege. That's what happens the whole naming Darlin King breaks the siege. That's
- 18:45the point. And then and then it's all moot. All the food he's
- 18:48been trying to bring in is able to get brought in. After that,
- 18:51then why do these people still die of hunger? As it just doesn't happen
- 18:53fast enough? Oh maybe maybe. I mean there's there's still a month between
- 19:00now and the last battle. That's time for people to starve. Later,
- 19:07just saying like the last battle itself takes a very long time, depending on
- 19:12through the Yeah, exactly in Tyr, I believe Tyr and and Or are
- 19:17experiencing like almost a year's worth of war, where Rand's experiencing, you know,
- 19:22an afternoon. So there are definite there's there's time, there's time to
- 19:26kill these people by hunker God, that is a blique sentence, even if
- 19:33the world wasn't the way it is right now and so and Rand basically thinks,
- 19:37hey, you know, I'm not hiding anymore, right, they found
- 19:41me in this obscure manner in the middle of the woods. I got surrounded.
- 19:45Clearly the foresaken can find me. And I think that is flawed logic,
- 19:48right, because I think Tame is the one who sent the traulis and
- 19:52he probably found him through more mundane means. Well, Rand is not taking
- 19:57into account the Tame could possibly have anything but the best of intentions. Right,
- 20:02that's true, that's true. He built the tower for me. Why
- 20:04would he do that if he's a dark friend? I'll gee, I can't
- 20:08imagine why he would build a tower of men dedicated mostly to him. Yeah,
- 20:12yeah, yeah, But he is, you know, avoiding the fanfare
- 20:18and the pomp and circumstance of like announcing himself and having his hands be bare.
- 20:22You know, he's trying to go enough incognito that he can move through
- 20:26the civilian population without attracting notice. And then Lewis Thearan's like, how can
- 20:32I hide? I'm tavere in, right, And so I think in this
- 20:36chapter in particular, we're seeing a moment where Lewis Darren really is the sane
- 20:40one and Rand really is insane. That we've seen a switch, and again
- 20:45I think it happened when with my hands, my hands. I think that's
- 20:47why it's such an important moment. Yeah, yeah, I was in really
- 20:49noticing that tonal shift a lot in this chapter, Like the blurriness between them
- 20:55is indecipherable. Who's who. Yeah, the man who was insane took over
- 21:00and sees control of the power. And now that person is in control.
- 21:03Yeah, and I don't think Rand realizes it. He's completely insane. And
- 21:07now the sane person is the voice in the back of his head. Right.
- 21:11I think the moment that we've always feared has happened. Right. I
- 21:15really think he switched, And I really do think that this is like why
- 21:18he's super he's nuts, He's completely nuts, right, and then that sane
- 21:23little voice in the back of his head is what goes completely silent during the
- 21:29whole samarag Min thing mm hmmm, and he's like, oh, now I'm
- 21:33completely fucked up and now I'm completely like the sane voice is gone, Like
- 21:38yeah he is. Now Like we've we've got the sane voice is the one
- 21:41in the back of the head, and that is what we lose when the
- 21:45last that could be done occurs. I love this. I haven't really put
- 21:48this together that I was like, why does why does Lewis thearn go away
- 21:51again? And I love that the theory that it's not Lewis then anymore,
- 21:55that's Rand who's going away? Yeah, that we are living with Lewis there
- 22:00and right now, who's you know, reflexively calling himself Rand because that's part
- 22:04of the insanity is to believe that he is Rand. That's part of how
- 22:10he's insane. But uh, yeah, it's a lie. It's very convoluted.
- 22:17I think only Archie understood how convoluted it truly was, and it's up
- 22:19to us to muddle along as best we can. Well, the other thing
- 22:23is he's very much touching Morgan, right, and I think some of his
- 22:27anger is Morgan's anger. Yeah, And what is more than mad about I
- 22:34think, well, I think he's aware that Rand's seizing the power, and
- 22:37he's aware they're linked and that's pissing him off. Very very circular. Yes,
- 22:41so Rand's behavior is triggering the anger. But like in this very weird
- 22:45circuitous way. Yead, he's got so many different people in his head.
- 22:51He really does, so he thinks about having maidens's guards. Basically, they're
- 23:08back. He owes them, which I don't know why he can do it
- 23:11sometimes and not others. But whatever, they were gone for books and books.
- 23:15Now they're back. It's very frustrating for him to be like, well,
- 23:18I'm the only son of a maiden to ever return, so I have
- 23:21obligations to meet. I'm like you since when, Yeah, you have ignored
- 23:26this so much. I guess I guess those beatings finally sank in, Like,
- 23:30I don't think that's what it is. That's not what it is.
- 23:33But they didn't, right because he immediately left them for books. Right,
- 23:37this is just him. I mean, you know, a couple a month
- 23:40or two. But still, Yeah, they're pissed at him. It's very
- 23:42weird. They're very pissed at him. His internal logic is very inconsistent,
- 23:48and that is one of my least favorite things in the entire world, is
- 23:51internal inconsistencies. And the next bit is details about the steam wagon. It's
- 23:56a train. It's a train, but not with tracks, but it's basically
- 23:59a training because it's steam powered. There were six of them. They pulled
- 24:03fifty wagons, and they covered more than one hundred miles a day, which
- 24:07is kind of incredible if you can think, like if you think that,
- 24:10like people on horseback can maybe cover twenty and if cover twenty miles a day,
- 24:14forty if they're going insane, but they you know, probably won't last
- 24:18very long. They tripled that. Yeah, with basically the first workable prototype.
- 24:23I mean we're still in like the first generation of these things, and
- 24:26we're past the single prototype phase, but like we're still in the first generation
- 24:32of these that's an incredible scaling up. And I love Rand's thought of like,
- 24:37well, merchants are conservative, they won't be into this and loose there
- 24:41and just starts fucking laughing, and it's like that's us. That's us in
- 24:45the world where actual trains and trucks exist, just being like Rand, Rand,
- 24:48you're silly man, you silly, silly boy. Marchants will jump on
- 24:52this so fast. We will have trains running everywhere. Every Your entire economy
- 24:57will be run by trains, and try whole generations of children are going to
- 25:02have brain damage from the amount of soot that gets belched out over their neighborhoods
- 25:06because of how much shy Okay, yeah, there's just a lot of Lewis
- 25:12Thearren because he's the sane one. Now he's like, hey, you've got
- 25:17problems. I've been in a modern society. I know how to fix those.
- 25:21Oh, you're having problems with unemployment. You know what you could do.
- 25:25You could tax the rich and reinvest that money into a jobs program that
- 25:29could get them food, and that would give them jobs and then you wouldn't
- 25:33have unemployed. And Rand's like, shut the fuck up, the insane man.
- 25:37That is literal insane gibberish. Yeah, yeah, I love it so
- 25:41much. I loose Thearan is becoming a more likable character at this point.
- 25:45Well, he's a much more sane character. He's not the insane voice in
- 25:48Rand's head. He's not the insanity that Rand has created him to. He's
- 25:52they switch. This is the last bastion of sanity in Rand's head. Is
- 25:56Lewis theron? Now that's I love that theory, and I'm sticking to it
- 26:00and going on about sensible civic policy. I adore that, and Ran the
- 26:06Insane Man being like, that's why is this insane man, keep bugging me
- 26:10about civil policy. What the like, what does that even mean? Yeah,
- 26:14like what does like what does fiduciary responsibilitys responsibility mean? And why are
- 26:21we talking about ethics? What does that happen? Yeah, los, just
- 26:23like this is like economics one oh one, This is geography one oh one,
- 26:29Like, come on, come on. At some point, RAN's like
- 26:32I tried to help the peasants by passing a law, but I don't know
- 26:33what to do, and louistarans in the background, going bill fucking rights.
- 26:38Come on, man, we went over this. Come on. Yeah,
- 26:42right, there's probably also headdsking over like how the mighty have fallen? We
- 26:48used to have like the most utopia utopia that ever utopia but absolutely zero problems
- 26:55hashtag definitely no problems, And now we're back to this, like we have
- 27:00to rebuild from so much, you know, like he's head dusking so hard
- 27:03in his you know, like professors because you know, he was like professor
- 27:07of something something. Oh yeah, human name exactly exactly some bullshit and he's
- 27:12just like all my doctor, Like I thought that some basic civilized human principles
- 27:18would carry through no matter how bad the war's got and they've forgotten everything.
- 27:22Oh my god. You know, like that's that's what I imagine Loose Thearin
- 27:26doing, like behind the scenes, when he's not actively talking to Randa's just
- 27:30head desking over how much was lost. I imagine him writing books or something
- 27:36like guidelines, like sitting down and like after the last battle, I think
- 27:40that would be a thing for him to do, is like record knowledge Rand,
- 27:45sure, Grandpa, the means of production, whatever sees it, sees
- 27:52it well you can, yeah, yeah, basically, But have you considered
- 27:57new communism? Yeah no, it's uh yeah, it's got to be really
- 28:03weird for Lous to be getting clearer and clearer focus out of Rand's eyes and
- 28:08understanding what the world is like compared to what he thinks should be happening.
- 28:12Like, that's got to be a weirder and weirder thing for him as he
- 28:15gets more and more control, you know, then we get the seeds of
- 28:21the weird little story with no payoff about Donnie and Calm, Yeah, I
- 28:26mean I really wanted to see them in the last battle, you know,
- 28:30I really really really wanted to see them heroically jumping on a grenade in their
- 28:33Little Boy uniforms that that's what Min saw was them like dying in uniform in
- 28:38the last battle, and she couldn't see how it was possible until Rand mentioned
- 28:42it, and then she's like, Ah, that's how it's going to happen.
- 28:45And then we got a cool scene that broke our hearts and no,
- 28:48no, we got to leave that to the thick writers. This is man
- 28:51seeing the future and Rand not being able to do anything about it. It's
- 28:53the inevitability of the future that in some ways he is strapped to again because
- 29:00his hope is that he can survive, right, but men's visions seem to
- 29:07promise he will die at the same time he has to die to live,
- 29:11so he needs men's visions to be true, but at the same time he
- 29:12hopes they're not, so that he can't like it's this weird, convoluted mess
- 29:18of like and Min keeps being like, oh, but I was wrong about
- 29:22Moraine, and He's like, stop saying that, Like that really that that
- 29:26breaks Ever, if you're wrong about that, you'd be wrong about other things.
- 29:30And then I can't depend on your visions, So I'm just going to
- 29:33ignore that and pretend I don't need Moraine very unscientific, which is why Matt's
- 29:40boast of I rescued Moraine is so effective. Yeah. I hadn't even thought
- 29:45of that layer. You needed her. It was a prophecy that you had
- 29:51to have her to win the last battle. If I hadn't done it,
- 29:52everything else you did would go would be moot. I rescued Moraine. I
- 29:57saved you. That was men's vision, and that I'm fixed half the light
- 30:03of the world to save the world. I gave up my fucking eye for
- 30:06your goddamn career, right right, You owe me a hell of a nice
- 30:11watch, hopefully one without any parallax needed. Yeah, he had no left
- 30:21room, no room left in him for sorrow right where just Rand is nuts.
- 30:25Rand has no empathy, no sorrow. People are just gonna die,
- 30:29and he's like, well, yep, that's what's gonna happen. It's the
- 30:30last battle. He's dissociating and compartmentalizing in the worst way. He's disconnecting from
- 30:40everything that makes humanity worth engaging with. And that's, as Kat Swayne points
- 30:45out, indirectly not going to work. The next big chunk is literally them
- 30:51walking through the city. I had almost no highlights other than we see some
- 30:55severingness going on in the crowd, but he kind of points that out in
- 30:59very explicit terms, So there's not a lot to talk about there. Yeah,
- 31:03I yeah. The only thing that I thought was really particularly interesting was
- 31:08that the city is under siege. The besiegers are bored. Tier has lots
- 31:15of commerce and thus lots of different people in it, and that, you
- 31:18know, allows them to pass more easily through the city. I also wanted
- 31:23to ask is marches a unit of measure context, because it says the his
- 31:32destination is the stunt, a tier covering at least eight or nine marches a
- 31:37good square mile or more. The fuck is a march? What? What
- 31:41is a march? I've never heard that unit of measure, and it seems
- 31:45it seems like that's how it's being used in context. It's like equivalent to
- 31:49a square mile or more. But it's just a weird Arjaeism. Let me
- 31:56look it up. Religion no left room for so that all goes into the
- 32:00right room. I mean, a march unit is a subdivision of a march
- 32:07serial, but that seems like a measurement of troop size. There's a screenshot
- 32:13in chat from the Wattwiki fandom that equivocates a hide, a rope, and
- 32:23a march as being things that can can go together. Photos are decided not
- 32:30to love for me today, Thank you very much. Photos. Yeah,
- 32:32nice work, discord great. Yeah, one hide equals ten thousand square paces.
- 32:37One rope equals one hundred thousand square paces. One march equals a quarter
- 32:45of a mile. One square mile equals four hundred hides. But that's just
- 32:51self referencing to the wheel of time universe. So it's cool someone figured that
- 32:53out. But that's just in world units, that's not real world units.
- 32:59But I could see if if a march was a unit of troops or march
- 33:01would be about the size of like how big of a space did they take
- 33:05up if they're all standing together right right? My first thought was like,
- 33:08so many marches on the field of Mars or something, you know, like
- 33:13yeah, seeing troops from above as squares, being like, well, that's
- 33:16a unit to send down the the promenade the street promenade anyway, not a
- 33:24particularly important question. Just yeah, there's not a lot to talk about other
- 33:30than really obvious RJ pros about the city and Tavere and and how all that
- 33:34works. So I was just like, I found a question. Yeah,
- 33:36but it's it's whatever, it's a unit. Yeah. The only note I'd
- 33:39say there is that Randa saying, you know, oh, I see balance
- 33:44now as an ill to balance every good instead of a good to balance every
- 33:46ill. Right, He's you know, it's basically the classic I'm a pessimist
- 33:51now the glass is half empty instead of half full. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 33:53yeah, exactly. It's literally just him and men being glass half full,
- 33:58glass half empty kind of and discussing that in plain terms. He likes
- 34:05that Darlin is flaunting his allegiance with the banners that he has up right right,
- 34:09and he can feel Alana and is like, all right, all I
- 34:13have to do is get to Alana and then I'll be able to talk to
- 34:15Darlin. She'll know that I'm in the city. She's already heading there,
- 34:19like it's all it's all going to plan. And we reiterate that the bond
- 34:23of Falana isn't very strong since he bonded the other three, Like it's just
- 34:27like sort of an external intrusion. It's clearly not part of him is the
- 34:30same way, Yeah, which is nice. I like that. I like
- 34:34that the relationships he chose are able to push the ones he didn't choose to
- 34:37the back of the line. And then he has like he's walking in he
- 34:39has the thought that they couldn't stop me. He could sweep aside a few
- 34:44hundred men like so many moths. I'm like, dude, these are your
- 34:47allies, your sworn troops. You should not be thinking about sweeping them aside,
- 34:52like you know, just killing them randomly like that. He's just She's
- 34:54totally nuts. He's randomly interested. Thought is I could kill everybody here.
- 34:59Well, I totally could. Actually, his sworn troops they're the besiegers,
- 35:04and his sworn troops are the besieges, so technically they're the enemy, but
- 35:08also he wants the siege to end so that way they can become a unified
- 35:13army that is all behind him. So they're people he wants to make his
- 35:19followers. Oh okay, I guess I miss the fact that there's a bunch
- 35:22of besiegers just hanging out in the city right like outside the Stone. That
- 35:25is my understanding is that the Stone is besieged and the city has been left
- 35:30to fend for itself. But because it's tyrants besieging tyrants. They're leaving the
- 35:35city more or less alone, because you know, it's the tyrant people and
- 35:39the city's not like fighting back or anything, and they're just like going about
- 35:43business as usual. The tyrants. Yeah, it's it's the high lords having
- 35:47a you know, fistfight with each other. As far as I understand that
- 35:51the siege is happening on the Stone, and it's a waiting game because it's
- 35:54the Stone, all you can do is deny them the right to leave,
- 36:00otherwise they're going to be fine. Right, that's my understanding of how the
- 36:04series i've had the siege works. But nonetheless, to your point, he
- 36:08looks at hundreds of men who he is shortly going to have in his army
- 36:13if all goes according to plan, and thinks or I could kill them all
- 36:16real casual, like to be a slightly more convenient way into into the Stone
- 36:22itself. And it's like that is a very disproportionate response on his That's a
- 36:30super above and beyond self defense, one might say. And here's where we
- 36:35get the dragon banner creature, the sign out front right with the dragon with
- 36:39wings. The artist had decided the thing was inadequate as described. I just
- 36:45love that way of saying it so much. Long sharp teeth, teeth and
- 36:52leathery rib wings. Interesting that the dragon banner doesn't have teeth. It's much
- 36:54more of like a puppy face. Yeah, our closed mouth anyway. Yeah,
- 37:00right right, And so they're basically going into this inn because they want
- 37:02to take a room and make a gateway and go through it. Yeah,
- 37:07and that's going to lead the innkeeper very confused when she goes up and there's
- 37:09nobody in there, but she didn't see them come down. It's a man.
- 37:13But yes, it's uh yeah, gonna be very weird to be like,
- 37:15well, they made a really big deal about needing this room and then
- 37:19just it's absolutely silent, and then you go in there eventually because you're wondering
- 37:22if they need something or if they're all dead, and then there's just nobody
- 37:25there, like what the fuck? Like weirdest customer ever. Yeah, I
- 37:30only need it for an hour or a few minutes, really, like we're
- 37:32only going to be in there for a little while, Like I just need
- 37:35a private space with this. Me and my group of friends only need this
- 37:38private space for a few minutes, okay, And I'm gonna have to clean
- 37:42up what afterwards? Right right? Yeah, it's very weird and like I
- 37:46totally get like why all the women are like excuse me, But also like
- 37:51what was that innkeeper supposed to think? Right, Like seriously though, like
- 37:55what was he supposed to think? Well, once I saw I said aye,
- 37:59he went oh, oh sure, sure, yeah, I mean yes,
- 38:01once once you pull out the isidye card, it's like, well,
- 38:05that's probably not about But the funny thing is that, like rand is technically
- 38:07an isid eye, so you know, that's extra funny. The other really
- 38:13fun thing here in the in common room is the Sharen. Yeah. I
- 38:19was gonna ask you, you think definitely Sharon, without a doubt, without
- 38:22a doubt. He's got a weird musical accent. He's wearing very strangely cut
- 38:28clothes, and he's talking about selling silk, which everyone knows only comes from
- 38:36the lands beyond the Aeel waste. Everybody knows that. And he's saying he
- 38:39has the worms that makes silk in an accent that is immediately followed up by
- 38:46a shan Chan accent, so we know that their different accents. That's absolutely
- 38:52a Sharon. I agree, I just I wanted to hear what you thought.
- 38:57Yeah, yeah, I've never questioned that it was a shark. It's
- 39:00absolutely a shark. And I love the fact that Rand and a random passer
- 39:04by are like everyone knows silk grows on trees, duh? Do we know,
- 39:10of course that silk grows on on ruttleberry bushes in the form of cocoons
- 39:17made by worms. And also it makes sense, right if you were used
- 39:22to cotton from the waist, if we're used to wool from sheep, right,
- 39:27Like the idea that fabric comes out of bugs, that's absurd. Fabric
- 39:30comes from plants and animals, right, right, yeah, bugs you can
- 39:34make dyes out of you could get honey, but like not fabric. Right,
- 39:37that's silly, that's absolutely silly. That's ridiculous, silly. Yeah.
- 39:43Interesting, we have a lean innkeeper here who seems to be fine. I
- 39:47guess they don't stay with them that long. But the other thing, then
- 39:52there's a shan shan who randomly adds to the conversation about silk and vanishes.
- 39:57Yeah, yeah, I didn't have anything. I passerby. It's just like,
- 40:00oh, by the way, that's totally how silk is faid because because
- 40:02sean Chan has silk, they you know, they don't get it from Shara.
- 40:07Or maybe they do get it from Shara. We don't know. I
- 40:08don't know. Maybe they go the other way around the world. I mean,
- 40:12right, we don't know, or they just grow it themselves because you
- 40:14know, silk. But either way, he just throws his comment in and
- 40:16then bails. And the only reason that that's really significant is because it rattles
- 40:21Olivia. And I really like Olivia, so I've been paying attention to her
- 40:24because I just want to get as much as I can out of her appearances,
- 40:28and she's really unsettled by hearing the shan Chan accent. I would say
- 40:34it's significant for a second reason. I think this is one of the people
- 40:37trying to bribe the nobles. He's just hanging out in the bar. Oh,
- 40:40of course, and then he sees this group come in and is like
- 40:44that's my cue, well up, time to go. But yeah, I
- 40:49think he absolutely is one of the guys who's just been hanging around trying to
- 40:52bribe the nobles. Why do we have sean Chan in this area? They've
- 40:54been trying to bribe the nobles, trying to get them. Yeah, I
- 40:57don't know why I didn't connect those dots, but yeah, obviously obviously I
- 41:01didn't either. The first time I read it, I actually exactly funny enough,
- 41:05I was doing all the shit, so I was like, I'll listen
- 41:06to it on audio, and so it took me a couple of times through
- 41:08before I was like, wait, wait, there's a chanchon that pops up
- 41:13later. I like it. I like it, but it's got to be
- 41:17it's got to be one of one of the people who, yeah, now,
- 41:22what the fuck the Sharon's doing there? I have no clue. Yeah,
- 41:24the Sharan seems like a red herring. Nothing ever comes of it.
- 41:29So I've always assumed that it's just like life has been going on despite the
- 41:35fact that the apocalypse is coming. Not everyone has gotten that memo, and
- 41:38probably someone has been trying to get silk out of Shar for the past like
- 41:42fifty years. So this is undoubtedly something that was gonna happen, you know.
- 41:46And if you look at where a tier is, if you're taking a
- 41:50boat the south around the waist, you're gonna end up pretty much the first
- 41:53port you're gonna hit this tier right once you get back to the continent,
- 41:57so it makes sense. It's just beating. And I do like that Shara
- 42:02keeps coming up because it does make all the Sharn Army appearing in the Last
- 42:07Battle less out of nowhere. I do think it was well foreshadowed in the
- 42:10rest of the series. I just don't think it was well foreshadowed in the
- 42:14Last Battle itself. Yeah, I would agree with that, because it did
- 42:17feel very satisfying to have all these non sequitters finally come together into something that
- 42:22mattered. That was very satisfying because this is a nothing burger until you're like,
- 42:29but it comes from those people that explode in at the end, and
- 42:31then suddenly it feels like this tiny little peak into something much greater. Hmm.
- 42:37They bribed the innkeeper to give him the room with a bunch of money.
- 42:40He hurries everybody out, which we've seen it. We used to see
- 42:44Moraine doing. Now it's randoing it, right. I think there's a bit
- 42:45of like full circleness there, right, he is bribing the innkeepers with the
- 42:51gold to get them out of the room to do the magic thing. Yeah,
- 42:53it is kind of like a doing something at level you know, fifteen
- 42:58that you could barely do at level five right, just being like, Wow,
- 43:01this is so much easier. I've been here before, but now I'm
- 43:04in a completely different position than the power hierarchy. This is neat until they
- 43:07go into the room and Ran has some PTSD. Yeah, he has basically
- 43:12a flashback panic response like event. He has an episode. Basically the room
- 43:17is too small, there are too many people in it, and he feels
- 43:21like he's being trapped in a box. The walls are closing in and suddenly
- 43:23him and loose there and are both panting and freaking out, and like he
- 43:28needs to be able to like see out the window and see the sky and
- 43:30see that there's space between him and the stone, and like everyone has to
- 43:34back up against the wall and when everyone get back, and when he says
- 43:37that to get back, kat Swain immediately responds. She rolls her eyes very
- 43:43ostentatiously while she does it. But she doesn't give him any guff. She
- 43:45doesn't like make him say please, She doesn't do any of that. She
- 43:50she knows that like that is that is not the thing she needs to work
- 43:53on, right, Like she's really antagonizing him. Later and like the whole
- 43:57like counting of his outburst, but she doesn't count this as an outburst of
- 44:01anger. She sees this as an outburst of PTSD and being like, Oh,
- 44:06okay, I'm just gonna you know, i have an attitude to maintain,
- 44:08but I'm not going to create problems either. And I love that Niney
- 44:13sniffs it the way he says it, but also realizes he serious. Yeah,
- 44:17same same. She hears the same thing in his voice of this is
- 44:21not a power move, This is a I need this right now move,
- 44:24which is, you know, again, proof that they all do care correctly.
- 44:30They all care about him, even though they're doing it wrong in so
- 44:34many ways, Like they are keyed in on some necessary aspects of what Rand
- 44:39is going through that Rand himself is ignoring. You know, they at least
- 44:44understand to some extent, they understand that he's having a problem. They don't
- 44:47understand what the problem is. So the next little bit he sezes the power,
- 44:52and I think there's a lot I think this supports my whole theory.
- 44:57Rand sees the male half of the true source Saideine flooded into him. Had
- 45:01the madman tried to seize it first, he had brushed it, certainly touched
- 45:07it, but it was Rand's the mad man. He didn't say, did
- 45:10lewis theren touch it first? Mad? Which I think is Rand. I
- 45:19think Rand reached out, touches it, he touched it first, but he
- 45:22perceives that as a mad man touching it because he's the mad man. The
- 45:27self delusion is real convoluted hm hmmm, because remember there is no difference.
- 45:30It was always Rand seizing it. There is no one to compete with.
- 45:36There's one soul, one source. This is not where this is not like
- 45:39the true power, where he's reaching out through moradon right right, And I
- 45:45think that is something you could maybe make an argument for that something's going on
- 45:52where maybe Rand is somehow seizing the true Source through Mordon. However, I
- 46:00don't think Morgan can touch Morgan can touch the True Source anymore. I think
- 46:02he's bound to the true power, right, the Dark One's power. Yeah,
- 46:08yeah, he can. He's the other side. Rand can't touch the
- 46:12Dark One in that way at this point, and Morgan can't touch the one
- 46:16power, which I guess is the Creator to some extent. To some extent,
- 46:21yeah, I mean, it's it's the power that turns the wheel,
- 46:23which if that's not the creator. Then what is the creator? Right?
- 46:27Like, yeah, yeah, entropy and and creation right, creation destruction?
- 46:31Those are the two forces that like make the material world have meaning. So
- 46:37yeah, he sezes it. It's you know, he still has his dizziness
- 46:39problem, right, because he's still linked to Morgan. He still has that
- 46:43issue. He still feels nauseated, and Nineve notices that because he goes basically
- 46:46gray in the face and she's like, you seem a little like peaky.
- 46:52But now he talks to the double wound, right flares up, right,
- 46:54because the second he touches the power, it does react out this line.
- 47:00But with the power filling him, he could ignore that pain. He thought
- 47:04he could ignore, could have ignored a sword thrust. And I'm like,
- 47:07you pretty much got a sword thrust. That's how you got those wounds in
- 47:08the first place. Yeah, I'm like, rand, way to downplay what
- 47:13you're actually dealing with, Like you arewithstanding a sword thrust that is right precise,
- 47:17a staff thrust and then a dagger slash if you want to be super
- 47:22precise, but come on, come on. So yeah, without the face
- 47:27of the man from shadow Logoth, Morden floated in his head for a moment,
- 47:30he looked furious. Right, So here's the where the anger is.
- 47:34Right, we know Mordan's angry at this moment, without a doubt. He
- 47:38was aware of Rand in that moment. Now, whether he's mad because he's
- 47:43aware of Rand, or he's mad because like the Forsaken are being assholes,
- 47:45I don't know, right, but he's pissed off. Move a hair in
- 47:51any direction and they would touch no more than a hair. I mean,
- 47:53if you're talking about foreshadowing the last battle on the body switch, right,
- 47:58mm hmmm. Yeah, they keep coming to this place of real close proximity
- 48:01and him being able to touch him and seeing his face, and yeah,
- 48:06there's this this moment where you can tell, Like reading this, it's like,
- 48:08okay, this is obviously Jordan was planning for this body swap well ahead
- 48:12of time. Yeah. Yeah. Uh so he channels and he creates a
- 48:15gateway with spirit touched with fire. I foreshadowed this, Hm, Women's gateways
- 48:23are only made with spirit. Really, the gateways are made in very different
- 48:28ways, only spirit for women. I thought that it had like water or
- 48:32earth or something. I think it. I mean, feel free to find
- 48:36contrary evidence. But I thought when women wave gateways, it was just spirit.
- 48:40And that's according to the lot Wiki, by the way, Okay,
- 48:45we're pulling that from okay, I wow. I thought that there were very
- 48:50few weaves that were only spirit. I thought it was like mostly sleeping stuff.
- 48:53Yep, it says no, a sidine gateway adds fire, while a
- 48:57sidar gateway is pure spirit. That's very unbalanced feeling. The evidence for that
- 49:05will come in Lord of Cast chapter thirty seven is apparently where we see someone
- 49:08weave a gateway with the female side of the spirit of the with the female
- 49:14side of the power, and it is just pure spirit. Huh. I
- 49:17don't like that. That annoys me. It's a GWayne weave spirit and oh
- 49:23uh weaves the gateway, right, So she's demonstrating the gateway. Maybe there's
- 49:28just more than one way to make a gateway because Agwayne sorted it out herself,
- 49:35whereas Rand learned it from Masmodian. Uh. Yeah, because remember Rand
- 49:43made a gateway by instinct at one point, right, No, that was
- 49:47a vianda. Yeah, but no, Ran definitely like he he just saw
- 49:52when he's fighting the forsaken, they made gateways and stuff into Yeah, so
- 49:57he but he copied an age of Letard traveling. Yeah, she learned it
- 50:00in that way, whereas a GWayne worked it out on her own. So
- 50:04maybe she just well I think Ran copied skimming, but I think he worked
- 50:08out traveling on his own once he knew skimming, right, he tried the
- 50:13skimming weave, but with a different set of parameters and was pleasantly surprised by
- 50:16the result. But he definitely was like, oh, I've done this before,
- 50:21and that was during anthink He's battle. As with the well, the
- 50:23first gateway he made was I really do think remember he made a gateway into
- 50:28teleron Riodd. Yeah, I think that was in book three before gosh back
- 50:34there somewhere, Yeah, which fight that was? Oh yeah, Foujie's reminding
- 50:40us of the language. Rand drills a hole and Degwayne creates a sameness.
- 50:46I could see drilling a hole needing fire in a way that creating sameness would
- 50:51not. I still feel like that's very unbalanced that only one of them needs
- 50:55an elemental force in addition to spirit. But whatever, it's fine, I'll
- 51:01accept it. But I do I think it's important that there are differences.
- 51:07Right. You can't teach a fish to fly, right, You can't teach
- 51:08a bird to swim. They are different. The recipes will actually blow up
- 51:12in your face if you do it with the other power, because shit like
- 51:15that. Like if a woman were to do it with fire, it would
- 51:17like teleport you to the sun or something. It's like the difference when they
- 51:22the example they use is when they put out on fire right and she has
- 51:27to dissipate the fire heat into something, whereas he just takes it in and
- 51:30then distributes back out. And she's like, oh, if I took it
- 51:34into myself, I would be on fire right. I can't support it for
- 51:37that amount of time, fundamentally asymmetric results. So they hop through to the
- 51:44stone. Yep, yep, no ambush. Here he sees the hole where
- 52:00he left Calendor and thinks about Nrishma and the prophecy he who draws it out
- 52:05shall follow after, and is like, oh, it's really careful about that,
- 52:07and it means absolutely nothing because it's a bullshit prophecy. But I thought
- 52:12about it really hard, So yeah, good, So we're good. Eva
- 52:15Jordan's looking at us saying, stop pestering me. That is what I intended,
- 52:20right right, It's just a non significant prophecy. Whatever it means.
- 52:24I mean, I'm convinced that it means he will be at some point the
- 52:28leader of the Black Tower. But I it could mean he followed after him
- 52:34when he went through a doorway at some point, Right, it doesn't mean
- 52:37anything as far as I can tell. Yeah, I assume it means that
- 52:39he's part of a really important part of like maintaining the legacy that Rand leaves
- 52:45the world afterward, you know, like takes on one of the schools,
- 52:50or yeah, takes on leading the Black Tower, or something important about keeping
- 52:53Rand's legacy alive and the memory of what he wanted alive. And it's great
- 52:58and it's good and it's mundane and heroic all at the same time, but
- 53:02has nothing to do with what's happening in the last battle, like Rand seems
- 53:06to imply. Yeah. I So, if I had a guess, I
- 53:12would say he is the Paul or the He's the one who's going to spread
- 53:19the disciple that this word of Rand. Right, he will be his sort
- 53:23of prophet, right in the way that Messima wants to be. He's what
- 53:27Messimo wishes he could be exactly exactly. He's the one who's stayed with brand
- 53:32will tell stories. He'll write, yeah, exactly him and his bells.
- 53:36He'll write down the stories, and those stories will become a holy book to
- 53:38a new religion and will be part of how myth fades. Right, Yeah,
- 53:45I can totally see that sort of an adjacent branch to what the Black
- 53:49Tower does. You know, maybe they get kind of some traveling barred stuff
- 53:52going on. Massimo's Paul maurismos, Peter. Sure, I don't know my
- 53:57Bible enough to know if that's the case. Paul's the message rogenist, Peter
- 54:00found the church. I mean, they're all misogynists, but like I was
- 54:06Gon and he's a misogynists and he founds the church. But I think Paul
- 54:12is the one that like writes a bunch of letters that are like, get
- 54:15back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich, even though I'm in prison,
- 54:17so fuck you. And then Peters the one that's supposedly buried under the
- 54:22you know Vatican. Okay, Peter's the Vatican one. It's the rock of
- 54:29the church. And Peter and ship I had a brief phase of really caring
- 54:32about old like Catholic Vatican history. So is that the phrase pay Peter to
- 54:38something Paul. Yeah, what was the something? Steal from Peter to pay
- 54:45Paul? Oh about Catholics, Like I just cared about weird occult stuff for
- 54:52like a year when I read fucking Dan Brown? Yeah, Rob Peter,
- 54:59Yeah, which, what does it mean? Read us the definition? I
- 55:02mean, it's exactly what it sounds like. You're borrowing from one person to
- 55:06give to another. I don't think it's just okay. I wonder why Peter
- 55:09and Paul just okay, all right. I think because they're also like really
- 55:14close friends, So it's like, why couldn't they buy borrow from each other?
- 55:16Oh huh, this is no. I don't see anything. Oh I
- 55:22kind of I agree. Don't we won't we won't take Loyle's book away that
- 55:24that is the true Scripture is going to be really involved in spreading the Loyals
- 55:30book. Narwee is going to be Loyal's publisher publicist. Well, one's a
- 55:35historical account of the events, and the other will be much more mystical.
- 55:37In my opinion, one of them is the Broadway adaptation. That's what Narice
- 55:43was gonna do, is he's gonna do the Traveling Broadway adaptation. He'll team
- 55:45up with Luca to take it on the road. The producers. I want
- 55:51to be a dragon, So Rand holds onto siding. You just wants to
- 55:55fight over it again with whatever that means, right, because he's already insane
- 55:59one who has it? I left him and loose then fighting about it and
- 56:02the nature of trust. It's very good. The mad man is arguing with
- 56:06the mad men in the mad man's head. It's great, good time Rand
- 56:09being and it's really like, I think this is a really important moment about
- 56:15only mad men trust no one. Lewis Thearren said, right, this is
- 56:19again how we know that they flipped because it used to be that Luis Tharn
- 56:22was in his head screaming trust, no one trusts, no one trusts no
- 56:24one mm hmm, and now Rand has taken that in the insane one is
- 56:30now out. The insane one is the one who is possessing the body who
- 56:34trusts no one in the person the brains being like, only med men trust
- 56:37that I have a mad man in my head. Uh huh, because I'm
- 56:40the sane one. Yeah. Yeah, it's how the turn tables have table
- 56:45turned. Yes, And whether you want to say that like Rand went insane
- 56:49and Lewis Thearren is this, you know, went sane. I don't know
- 56:52if you can really do that, but like clearly something is going on here
- 56:54where the voice in Rand's head is much more sane than Randon. I mean,
- 57:00I do feel like Loose Thearren has gone sane, so to speak,
- 57:04because he really is the voice that seems to be the one that really sparks
- 57:08the idea of what if the reason we're born again is to be able to
- 57:12love again? Like that, particularly the way Michael Kramer voices it, like
- 57:15that's the one who has the epiphany. Rand is still seeking the answer,
- 57:21and it's Loose Thearren who has the epiphany for the two of them. But
- 57:23if they've switched, that actually is right. I mean again, it's all
- 57:27the same person, right, it's one person. It's one person, yeah,
- 57:30one person. Down with the binary it's one person, right, Rand
- 57:34is plural. So then he has a nice little conversation with one of the
- 57:37guards about, uh, one of the worst days of his life. Yeah
- 57:44yeah, it's some war wound stuff. It's like, oh yeah, at
- 57:46that time that we almost all died and I shited my pants. Yeah yeah,
- 57:52that happened and tried to bring a little girl back to life even though
- 57:54she was dead, and I just made her body move around like a corpse.
- 57:57Yeah, I don't, I don't. I haven't forgotten that honorable day.
- 58:00Yeah, on our good for you with the with the scar that's only
- 58:05on the outside of your body. Great, we got a third data point
- 58:08on corridors changing. Right, So this is happening all over the world.
- 58:12This is happening for a while. It's our volunteer and Camerlin. We've now
- 58:17seen it happen in so all the big three cities. Seems like at this
- 58:22point we can assume that that was happening has been happening since the same day,
- 58:25Like it just started happening in the middle of the day across the whole
- 58:30world. I wonder if it's happening in Sean Shan and Shara. Also,
- 58:34do you think it has anything to do with the distance from the boar hmmm,
- 58:38or from shale Gool, because technically the boar is everywhere, right,
- 58:42Like I get it. It's you know, the boar, isn't it shale
- 58:45Ghual. It's just that's where the pattern is. The thinness, thinnest right,
- 58:50because the boy is at shale Cool. Well, no, because the
- 58:53boar is a place where they actually where where land Fear drilled a hole in
- 58:57the pattern, and she was on an island, you know, in the
- 59:00middle of like the ocean, far away from our main land. Yeah,
- 59:04so the sight of the boar being drilled is nowhere near where shale Ghul is,
- 59:07right right, right, Yeah, weird, weird displacement in space,
- 59:13but whatever, it's just what it is. But yeah, I could totally
- 59:16see that being on the same continent as shale Ghul would make the difference in
- 59:21shan Chan and Shara are unaffected in as much as corridors shifting. We're not
- 59:25really sure what it means about distance, but it does appear that distance doesn't
- 59:30matter. Right, Tarval is much closer north than cameln right or even tier
- 59:37and so it's hard to say. It appears just the thinning of the pattern.
- 59:42It could be localized, it could be everywhere. We don't get a
- 59:45bunch of you know, shan Chan complaining about it happening in shawn Chan.
- 59:49Well, we don't have any communication with sean Chan, so there's no way
- 59:52to know. Like it's it's completely unknowable. The only Shaun Chain we ever
- 59:55interact with her on this side of the ocean, right well in summer on.
- 1:00:00She knows what's going on over there. Do you think she gives a
- 1:00:01fuck about corridors. She probably just blasted her way through the wall. If
- 1:00:06she got right, she's walked straight through a bang bang bang. Yeah.
- 1:00:09Yeah. And there's an interesting line here where he's talking about how if I
- 1:00:15don't start the last battle, the Dark One will kind of win by default,
- 1:00:21just by letting the pattern unravel. The world will be destroyed, We'll
- 1:00:23all starve to death and will be in one of these shadow worlds. It'll
- 1:00:28be an end to time and creation. He has to bring about the last
- 1:00:31battle before that happened. It's an interesting and I do think this was something
- 1:00:37that got used differently the way it was than what it was intended, because
- 1:00:42to me, I wanted the breaking of the final seals to be how Ran
- 1:00:45started the last battle, not this. Oh, when they're broken, that's
- 1:00:51the moment when he can seal the Dark One away. In a way,
- 1:00:54it's there the end of the last battle, not the beginning of it.
- 1:00:58I would have loved to see this whole I have to break it, or
- 1:01:02else the dark One will win by default. And once I break it,
- 1:01:07the Rebbele has to be cleared, and it will take me a day to
- 1:01:09rebuild the seal, and in that time, the Dark One will run rampant
- 1:01:15and you know, will bleed through, and all these bad effects will be
- 1:01:19happening. Right, or maybe even take like a longer time. Right,
- 1:01:22what if rebuilding the seal took him, you know, quite quite a bit
- 1:01:25of time. I don't know. I would have liked to see that be
- 1:01:30the duration in the last battle. That's why it had to happen the way
- 1:01:32it did. That would have been cool. The sword fight at the end
- 1:01:36of the World was a little bit like really, So then Rand assures the
- 1:01:43guards that he won't get lost, and they're just like, well, he's
- 1:01:45the door Dragon, so we're gonna not question that too hard. And he
- 1:01:51goes cruising off to follow Alana. Right, he's he knows what he can
- 1:01:55locate her in his head, so he's like, well, she's my guide
- 1:01:58stone, I have a compass. I'm not gonna get lost. Exactly wherever
- 1:02:02she is, I'll get there. It doesn't matter what the corridors in between
- 1:02:06are. And God swayin being like those guards hop when you say, Toad,
- 1:02:09that's that's not good for you. Yeah, and Rand's like, coming
- 1:02:15from you, that's really rich. But like there is this interesting point that
- 1:02:19that leads into where he says, if I could make everyone obey, I
- 1:02:23would, and she looks at him and goes, right, I see,
- 1:02:30and that that is a very important exchange because that is not a man that
- 1:02:35you can let have the last battle happen to. This is very connected with
- 1:02:39his thought about how he's not ready for the last battle to happen yet.
- 1:02:43CAD's Winn's going, no, you are not mm mmm, I need to
- 1:02:47be working on you. And that's why she does this weird countdown thing or
- 1:02:51count up thing and then spanks him like it's not the right approach. But
- 1:02:54this is why she is looking at Rand going stop being a micromanager. You
- 1:03:01can't control everything everybody does. It's not inside your control. You cannot take
- 1:03:07that kind of responsibility on and win the last battle. You can't. He
- 1:03:12has to let other people be heroes too, right, That's that's the whole
- 1:03:15lesson. God Swain is supposed to teach him that other people can be heroes
- 1:03:17too, right, and like she fails mostly she tries badly, but yeah,
- 1:03:25and it could because what he's saying is basically like that fucking planet from
- 1:03:30Rinklin Time, you know he is. He is saying that if I could
- 1:03:34do a fascism and make everyone mind slaves, I would do it to save
- 1:03:37the world. And we see in his visions in the Last Battle that that
- 1:03:42is one of the alternatives, you know that the Dark One spins out for
- 1:03:45him. It's like, what if everyone was a mind slave to how you
- 1:03:49think things should be and there is no free will? And that's what Rand
- 1:03:52is saying he wants at this point, and Kadswayin's like, no, we
- 1:03:55can't have that man going in and facing that future when the Dark One hand
- 1:04:00to him, because then he would say yes to that vision and the world
- 1:04:02fucking ends. And I do like the Dark One kind of like defeats him
- 1:04:06by showing it defeats himself by showing Rand like what the outcomes of his ideas
- 1:04:12would be. I did like that. Yeah. Yeah, it's like,
- 1:04:15oh, well, you could have just let Ran pick one of those and
- 1:04:16you would have been only good Dark One, right, Like Grand would have
- 1:04:19created a dystopian future, and I like, sure Genie's wish, go right
- 1:04:23ahead. Uh huh, everybody's good, No one has any free will left.
- 1:04:27Have fun with it, right right. Katswain basically fails the task successfully.
- 1:04:33Sometimes you roll a natural twenty despite doing everything wrong. So he walks
- 1:04:40in through the doorway and we get this place that's like elaborately carved, and
- 1:04:43we see why the Arrans have such a reputation for ornateness, although not as
- 1:04:48many much as the Kyrieane. I guess, I don't. I'm not really
- 1:04:51sure. It's different styles. It's just potato potato and the end doors are
- 1:04:57turning their noses up at both. Like again, the Tyrants kind of reminded
- 1:05:00me of Italy, whereas the Kyrians are more French, and it's like the
- 1:05:04Louverra versus the Vatican, but they're both absurd and like overblown and gaudy.
- 1:05:11But you know, this one's much more Italian to me. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:05:15for sure, for sure. They're both seriously wealth unequal societies. And
- 1:05:20we're in the palaces, and you know, the stone is an interesting mix
- 1:05:24of decor and military application, and that's a weird, harsh mix. And
- 1:05:30then Rand also thinks about how gateways have made mankind's oldest stronghold into an obsolete
- 1:05:38relic, and that's a really interesting like I am become death the kind of
- 1:05:43moment you know. Again also reminds me how much Jordan was all about,
- 1:05:46like he was a helicopter guy, right and plane guy, and how much
- 1:05:48like airplanes made walls completely obsolete in a lot of ways, like there's no
- 1:05:55there's no reason to have walls on your castle. If they can, we
- 1:05:57can fly jets over you and drop mombs on your head. Yeah, it
- 1:06:00makes the concept of thick walls kind of pointless because unless you're gonna have a
- 1:06:04thick wall over your head the whole way, Yeah, domit, Yeah yeah,
- 1:06:10which has its own problems, so many problems. So then he admires
- 1:06:15Alana, which is I thought was an interesting passage where again the more I'm
- 1:06:20reading this, the more I'm like, Yeah, Rand is thumbing his ear
- 1:06:24lobe, not Lewis Theren. That was a Lewis Theren gesture. Rand is
- 1:06:27doing it somehow, there's been like this switch in personalities. Yeah, it's
- 1:06:31it's very weird. And his stomach is like lurching before he goes in there,
- 1:06:35and you could attribute that to the power. But also, like you
- 1:06:38know, she is his first serious abuser, so you know that's always not
- 1:06:43always great. And also it's interesting he goes in there assuming that Alana has
- 1:06:46prepared the room for his arrival. She has not, but she makes a
- 1:06:51point of pointing that out. Yeah, she has very carefully made sure that
- 1:06:55she was in the correct room so that way, when Rand found her correct
- 1:07:00conversation would get initiated with the right people. But she didn't prepare them for
- 1:07:03the fact that rad was coming. She just showed up for reasons and quietly
- 1:07:08stayed in the room for no apparent you know, she just made whatever excuse.
- 1:07:13Quite a surprise, wouldn't you say, am I learn of Storial?
- 1:07:15Yes? Yeah, it's quite a surprise. And so the next little bit
- 1:07:19is like the politics, Right, we dig deep into what's been going on
- 1:07:24between the various factions in the same way that like we shortly see the factions
- 1:07:30of and Or get wrapped up. These are the factions of Tear getting wrapped
- 1:07:32up before the last battle. Yes, this is Jordan ending a plot line.
- 1:07:36This is when I say, like this is a chapter of payoffs,
- 1:07:40right, Like this is the payoff for all the stuff that was going on
- 1:07:44in Kyrie inne we wrap all that up here. Absolutely, it is very
- 1:07:47parallel to what's happening with Elaine. This is also the section where we get
- 1:07:51the payoff of the fashion has spread. Yes, Caroline is in the men
- 1:07:58fashion because you know, they went through some pretty intense stuff together when Randa
- 1:08:00got his second side wound, and she was asking men about her seamstress.
- 1:08:05So that's also Rand's thing is he's like, well, the fashion can't have
- 1:08:09spread to tear, But Caroline spent a bunch of time with men specifically,
- 1:08:14so it's not like it's spread through the grape violets like she is ground.
- 1:08:18She's patient zero for its spreading past men into tier, which is fun.
- 1:08:24I just I like that side tension. And also then Caroline and min later,
- 1:08:28you know in this section they're talking. They go off to the side
- 1:08:30to talk and they gossip about their men for a minute, but then they
- 1:08:33start talking about clothes and they're talking about like backstitch and bias cut, which
- 1:08:38I wanted to go in a brief little tangent. Do you think sewing machines
- 1:08:43exist in this world? No? Okay, so fun textile history. If
- 1:08:48you don't have a sewing machine, it is really hard to keep fabric from
- 1:08:54unraveling when you cut it. So when fabric gets woven, it comes in
- 1:08:59a particular are width because that's the size of the loom. There's a couple
- 1:09:01of different sizes, but that's how fabric has always been. So for the
- 1:09:03vast majority of human textile wearing history, our patterns are made of rectangles.
- 1:09:11It's just rectangles on rectangles on rectangles, because it's really difficult to keep your
- 1:09:15fabric from unraveling. If you don't have the ability to hem things. It's
- 1:09:17a pain in the ass, very time consuming to do by hand. You
- 1:09:21can do it by hand, but like it's way more efficient and economical to
- 1:09:26do everything in squares or in rectangles. And so bias cut even now is
- 1:09:34a very expensive thing because first of all, it's a cut. And if
- 1:09:39you don't know what bias cut is, bias cut is diagonal. That's what
- 1:09:43the bias is against the weave right direction right, So the weave is gonna,
- 1:09:47you know, generally be in a cross hatch and if you go at
- 1:09:49a forty five, there's going to be a whole lot of stretch. It's
- 1:09:55the stretchiest direction you can possibly pull fabric in. And you, as a
- 1:10:00man person, you've experienced bias cut because you've interacted with ties. Ties are
- 1:10:04always cut on the bias. It gives them their slightly stretchy magical tie properties
- 1:10:11for whatever reason. It's like fences, the extendable fences that have that thing
- 1:10:16where they'll squish together in one direction but extend out in the other. That's
- 1:10:19what's basically what you're doing with the weave is you're extending that those triangles out
- 1:10:25and elongating those triangles of the basket weave in one direction. That's why it's
- 1:10:29very stretchy in that direction, right, and fabric will generally have a direction
- 1:10:33of stretch and a direction that is less stretchy, like along the horizontal or
- 1:10:38the vertical, but going diagonal will always be stretchy no matter what the arrangement
- 1:10:43of the other directions are, just because of yeah, that triangle thing you're
- 1:10:45talking about. So bias cut fabric is very expensive and it fits way better.
- 1:10:51It fits on curvy things way better, so it fits the human form
- 1:10:55way better. So clothing that is cut on the bias takes like three times
- 1:10:59as much fabric. It's way more expensive in terms of material cost, but
- 1:11:03it will look so much better and flow so much better on your silly,
- 1:11:08curvy, three dimensional human body and stretch with you as opposed to just being
- 1:11:12rigid and stuck in place very much so. So like I've made a lot
- 1:11:15of garments where I've included bias sections, like in the crotch of pants,
- 1:11:20so that way, like when I squat down, like they're way stretch here.
- 1:11:25Just like it's way, if I've got to make pants, why would
- 1:11:27I not guss it the middle? And if I'm gonna make a guss it,
- 1:11:30why would I make a guss it on the bias? Like that's just
- 1:11:33a way better design for being able to move comfortably. So yeah, they're
- 1:11:40over there talking about sewing stuff, and I'm just like, say more,
- 1:11:42Robert, this is one of the only times you go beyond impossible expectations of
- 1:11:46materials and fashion and like where are other undergarments? And you don't even talk
- 1:11:49about that for once. You're talking about things like bias cut and I want
- 1:11:53to hear more because like that's interesting, but alas all we get is that
- 1:11:58and the words backstitch which like it. It's a real basic stitch you can
- 1:12:01do with needle and thread. It's what it says on the tin. So
- 1:12:08that's why I don't think the sewing machines because they're doing backstitshes on their bias
- 1:12:11cut. Well, I mean you can also backstitch with a sewing machine,
- 1:12:14so it just means going backwards. Speaking of Caroline, other note Rand and
- 1:12:19lewis theren's attraction to her allah attraction to Morille. Oh godd. So I
- 1:12:29also was like, this is very weird because Rand being attracted to Caroline,
- 1:12:33Caroline looking like Moraine really feels a very mother that is she type complex shit
- 1:12:44or whatever. And this is again where I think, if there's it makes
- 1:12:46more sense that there's been a switch. And the person who's thinking that is
- 1:12:49much more Lewis Theron, who is considers himself significantly older, significantly wiser than
- 1:12:58her, And I think that's that's what he's trying to say here is Oh,
- 1:13:01you have this attraction in his mind that he would never happen if he
- 1:13:04was still that nineteen year old boy. Yeah. I was thinking that that
- 1:13:09this feels very like, why are you suddenly fetishizing your mother? Figure that
- 1:13:14seems weird. But yeah, Loose therein would be like she's a colleague,
- 1:13:18she's an inferior, she's yeah, Like he wouldn't have the same looking up
- 1:13:26relationship to Morain in any way, shape or form as Rand does, So
- 1:13:30it's it's not the same weird like, yeah, yeah, that incongruity fits
- 1:13:35is less incongruous if we accept how switcher rude they are at this point.
- 1:13:42Yeah, I like that. That's my best guess to get rid of that
- 1:13:45ickiness that I don't like it. I approve of getting rid of the ickiness.
- 1:13:48I like that. Yes, lies all that right on out, because
- 1:13:56it is it is. It's not just icky, but it's congru with that
- 1:14:00whatever it's out in Cornros, it's out of place, right, it's this
- 1:14:03weird like Rand has never before expressed any attraction. No, unlike Tom who
- 1:14:11said in a mighty fine woman and all those lines, right, like,
- 1:14:15Rand has never done that. Yeah, and you've even got Rand in loose
- 1:14:18Theren's head being like, hey, stop masturbating over that picture that I cry
- 1:14:23over. That's weird. Don't do that. Yeah. Yeah. Kattswayne retires
- 1:14:28to the corner because of the interaction she had with Rand earlier, right where
- 1:14:31he's like, oh no, I want everyone to obey me, where she's
- 1:14:33like, oh, I want to see what's going to happen here. Then
- 1:14:36yes, she gets herself front row seats and sits back to let the fireworks
- 1:14:41play out. And then we get two dark friends. Dark friends, yeah,
- 1:14:58dark friend alert? Were them On and Ainella? Yes, they are
- 1:15:02kind of together for the rest of the books. They're like ostensibly a couple
- 1:15:06kind of sorta and they're just in every time they show up in a scene,
- 1:15:10they're together, so like they just wirem On and Aniela. They're the
- 1:15:14dark friends. They suck, right, And do you remember Ianella was with
- 1:15:17what I I Lil when Rand was unconscious and they were debating whether they wanted
- 1:15:24to hurt him or help him, and it was clear that Ianella was like
- 1:15:27wanted to kill him while he was unconscious. Basically, yeah, while he
- 1:15:30was knocked out from his own lightning bolt during the disastrous campaign against the Shan
- 1:15:33Shan. You remember may remember her from episodes such as Rand knocked out by
- 1:15:38lightning Bolt, betrayal and definitely not a good person, right and maybe a
- 1:15:45dark friend. Yeah, definitely a dark friend, and you can really see
- 1:15:48it here. You can see that wirem On, you know, threw away
- 1:15:51a whole bunch of men's lives, throwing the treaty talks back to the very
- 1:15:58beginning, completely disrupting the piece. As you know, they're just doing everything
- 1:16:01they can to put a stick in the spokes and create chaos and create loss,
- 1:16:05you know, getting rid of the army through death, and how freaked
- 1:16:09out they are when things end up working out for them anyway, or for
- 1:16:13Rand anyway, right, they're like, oh no, we are fuck,
- 1:16:17those were not our orders. Yeah, exactly. Anniella is worse at pretending.
- 1:16:24Wireman's very good at the bluster, but Anniella's face is just telling the
- 1:16:28story really clearly. Wireman has his incompetence to hide behind his story, and
- 1:16:31I don't know, you know, again, how incompetent is he? Actually,
- 1:16:33I think he's pretty fucking incompetent, but I also think he's hides his
- 1:16:40betrayal behind incompetence. Yeah, Aniela does not have that smokescreen. She really
- 1:16:46is just incompetent and apparent about it. So yeah, Rand is like,
- 1:16:51you need to skid Aadlin out of here, because I don't want you here,
- 1:16:56and then he insists on it very loudly and explosively, and that causes
- 1:17:00kad Swain to say one which is very inscrutable unless you're tracking how she's tracking
- 1:17:06rance moods, and she is basically trying desperately to lance this boil before the
- 1:17:11end of the world. Like that's what she's doing, right, is she's
- 1:17:14like, the end of the world could be any day now, and he's
- 1:17:16not ready. I have to get him to explode and work through those feelings
- 1:17:20now as soon as possible. And she's doing it badly, but she's doing
- 1:17:24it desperately also, And she's also sort of pointing out every time he forces
- 1:17:29someone to his will, right, every time someone says I want to do
- 1:17:32this, he's like, no, you're going to do it my way out
- 1:17:34because he wants everybody to obey. I think that's what she's I don't think
- 1:17:39that's what it is. I think it's this violent, explosive outbursts of temper.
- 1:17:44I think that's what she's tracking is whenever he snaps and like it bursts
- 1:17:48out. That I think is what she's counting. But I could be wrong,
- 1:17:54which yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I think that's so much
- 1:17:56more the thing I was usually thought. It was trying to make it more
- 1:18:00deep than that, rather than her being like, don't don't express anger.
- 1:18:04It's not that don't express anger. It's that your anger is not finding a
- 1:18:08healthy expression, so it's bursting out in ways that are really counterproductive and dangerous
- 1:18:13for everyone. Okay, question, there's a sentence here that I can't I
- 1:18:17think might be a type of or something where Eman studied codswaying for a moment,
- 1:18:20tilting his head back so he was staring down his nose as the dragon
- 1:18:24reborn commands. He said, finally, so does where them in San diego?
- 1:18:28Obey? My ship can be ready to sail by tomorrow. I wager,
- 1:18:30well that Suffice, do you see all that? That's a paragraph?
- 1:18:33The paragraph after that, Rand nodded curtly. Next sentence, it would have
- 1:18:39to answer m I don't understand that sentence. I think he's talking about the
- 1:18:46nod. He's saying, the nod will have to answer. Oh, the
- 1:18:51nod would have to the answer. Okay. I was thinking he was saying
- 1:18:57it would have to Suffice answer, and I was like, wait, that
- 1:19:00doesn't work. Yeah, but the nod, the Nod answers the question,
- 1:19:03I got it. I got it, thank you very much. That's my
- 1:19:06reading comprehension. We're going into some trouble there's but then you follow it up
- 1:19:10with the next sentence. He was not about to waste a moment making a
- 1:19:13gateway to send this pair of fools where they belonged. Today. I can
- 1:19:18see where the where your reading comprehension went into a different place, because yeah,
- 1:19:23it does seem like it would have to suffice would be the more logical
- 1:19:28sentence there, given the sentence that comes after that, Like, I don't
- 1:19:31I don't like my interpretation. I like your interpretation better. I think that
- 1:19:35they fucked up just creatively there. Yeah. I think that was one of
- 1:19:41those points where maybe the person editing and the person writing thought two different things
- 1:19:44were going on there. Perhaps, Yeah, yeah, but anyway, that's
- 1:19:48that's just not my favorite sentence sructure, and I got a little confused by
- 1:19:51it. So but I understand now what he's trying to say is the NOD
- 1:19:56would have to answer the question of will it suffice? Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:20:01that's that's what It's a gap. So then we talk about the hunger in
- 1:20:05the city and Basically, Darlin has to Carolina and Darlan say they've been trying
- 1:20:13to feed the city by bringing the cattle in because cattle don't spoil the way
- 1:20:17that preserved meat spoils, which is smart, but bringing resources through a besieging
- 1:20:24army is sort of a crapshoot of giving your enemies food. So like it's
- 1:20:29been a bit of a rock and a hard place catch twenty two situation.
- 1:20:31And Rand's like, well, I don't like it, but at least you're
- 1:20:36doing something which is not what I expected, so I don't get to criticize.
- 1:20:41Darland's like, listen, the can stuff spoils and the live stuff's getting
- 1:20:44stolen. I don't know what, Like, I don't know what else you
- 1:20:45want me to do. I'm trying to bring in the food, but there's
- 1:20:47no way to get into the city without being intercepted. So maybe, mister
- 1:20:50dragon Reborn, you might want to bring in figure that out. Yeah,
- 1:20:55maybe like end the siege or give me some gateways or like something, you
- 1:20:59know, because like, yeah, everything I'm trying isn't working. So yeah,
- 1:21:02there's hunger in the city. So here's the thing where we've got Rand
- 1:21:05and Lewis theren basically saying Men could not have been wrong about Moraine because we
- 1:21:12need to die, and her vision basically promises us we could die. And
- 1:21:17that goes back to the vision about Livia is she will help him die.
- 1:21:23That's really the only thing that of Men's that he has to promise him that
- 1:21:27he will die. He has prophecies of the Dragon and all that, but
- 1:21:30the only thing for Men, I think he finds much more reliable than anything
- 1:21:34in the prophecies of the Dragon. Yeah, I mean Men is there's only
- 1:21:39one loop of only one link of interpretation with Men, which is whatever the
- 1:21:43pattern gives her. Like that's it. That's the only whereas the prophecies have
- 1:21:47been retranslated, reinterpreted, books have been lost, books have been found,
- 1:21:51like men is straight from the horse's mouth of the universe. You know.
- 1:21:57Yeah, she really is an oracle, true, right, We don't talk,
- 1:22:00we do that word often enough with her, but she's an oracle of
- 1:22:02the pattern. So then Bara Harken comes in with some news, and Bara's
- 1:22:10just of the green aw Jaw. I know she's popped up before. I
- 1:22:12didn't do any research on her, but I think that she's with Paren when
- 1:22:15they attack Doumai as wells Okay, I'm pretty sure that he teams up with
- 1:22:21Bara and Karuna. They're leading a party and they run into Paren and Paren's
- 1:22:26like, you're gonna be allowed to come with me, and they go and
- 1:22:30do the Domai as well as thing. So she's fine, she's from the
- 1:22:33good side. She's a pain in the ass, but she's fundamentally fine.
- 1:22:38She's got three orders. Well, she heals a Vianda there in the last
- 1:22:43battle. Yeah, she's a good one. That's good. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:22:45she's fine. She went the right way in the coup and she's you
- 1:22:48know, aligns with Katswayn and she should and you know, she's fine.
- 1:22:53And she's been in charge of the Her and Alana have been working with the
- 1:22:58doing the peace process between the besiegers and the besieged, and she's come in
- 1:23:02with news about stuff, how that's going. Oh, she's coming in with
- 1:23:06news about the other high lords coming to the city, which is a thing.
- 1:23:12And so she's upset because his high lords are coming back to the city
- 1:23:16until she says, no, no, no, they don't need to be
- 1:23:18out there anymore because the siege is basically over, right, like we've come
- 1:23:21to an agreement. Yeah. Yeah, but before she says that just the
- 1:23:26news that these high lords are coming is enough to make Rand like explode again.
- 1:23:31Rights too, but he also says, doesn't anybody remember how to obey?
- 1:23:36Right? He's very much about the obeying part there as well. So
- 1:23:41it's they're almost going together, the anger and the obeying. Yeah, well,
- 1:23:45I mean it also goes back to what she was saying I see about
- 1:23:47before, which was him saying, if I could make everyone be mindfully as
- 1:23:50I would, She's like, mmmm, yeah, no, yeah, So
- 1:23:56that's why I'm wondering if that's what she's like really keying on, is like
- 1:23:59this idea that I need every one to do what I say, I'd say
- 1:24:00that at this point where this is both, this one is both. I
- 1:24:04think the other one was just anger or was the other one about control too?
- 1:24:11The other one was about control too. It was as soon as possible.
- 1:24:15Yeah, it's when he cuts wiram On off to tell him what to
- 1:24:19do. Okay, So all right, so we're two for two at this
- 1:24:21point. It's anger and control in both cases. So far we could both
- 1:24:26be right, we could be yeah, but yeah, Katswain says two,
- 1:24:30and then she says, this seems like maybe good news that you're not asking
- 1:24:33for. So maybe she's like video game tutorial like railroading him. Like you
- 1:24:39need to ask the cat if he has wheares to sell, you know,
- 1:24:43ask Para Harken if she has news about the rebels, right like yeap bear
- 1:24:47Harkin is blinking a little question mark over her head, exactly exactly, and
- 1:24:53yeah, she delivers the news now that, yeah, the treaty has been
- 1:24:56signed, we've got an agreement. Everything's cool and rams immediate react is but
- 1:25:00my feelings, I'm angry and it's very silly of him, I mean they
- 1:25:08And this is also where we get the information that the reason they the rebels
- 1:25:11lasted so long as the sean Chan was promising at arms. Yes, yes,
- 1:25:14right, yeah, which comes back to the shan Chan accent dude in
- 1:25:17the inn earlier, right, because he was there to help with the offers,
- 1:25:23probably one of the spies. Yeah, exactly exactly. Suddenly all of
- 1:25:28the resistance collapsed and have everyone's ready to just like pretend it didn't happen and
- 1:25:31go home, and RAN's like, I don't want to pretend it didn't happen.
- 1:25:33That makes me angry. And then Katswan's like, you literally didn't put
- 1:25:38that in your base terms to your negotiators, so don't be angry about it.
- 1:25:45Also, and so she gets to three, what does she say three
- 1:25:47about? They can stay commoners and swear fealty to me control obey uh huh
- 1:25:56huh. But also he's throwing a goblet of wine. First he slams his
- 1:26:02fists down on the chair, then he leaps up so fast he breaks the
- 1:26:08arm off the chair, and now he's thrown a glass of wine. These
- 1:26:11are all violent outbursts each time. So I think we're both right. I
- 1:26:15think literally either of the things that we're interpreting here is as right as the
- 1:26:19other because and I think that that's not a bad reading or a bad creation
- 1:26:25Artie's part, because anger and control are deeply entwined concepts like explosive anger and
- 1:26:30the need to control others are things that do need to be understood in relation
- 1:26:34to each other. So yeah, and I think there's a line here that
- 1:26:42may help link him to Morgan, the sickness twisting his insides, right,
- 1:26:48because that's the channeling sickness, that's the double vision, right, because that's
- 1:26:55not insanity anymore. That's not channeling sickness that he's getting. That's just the
- 1:27:00the double vision twisted his insides twisted his rage too. Yeah, so that
- 1:27:05doubleness, that that nausea that he's getting because he's getting the rage from Morden.
- 1:27:11I think a lot of this rage out of nowhere. Yes, it's
- 1:27:13insanity, but I also also think it's being driven by in the same way
- 1:27:17that Morden's feeling his body, he's feeling Morgan's rage. And we have no
- 1:27:21idea why Morden's angry at this point. It could be Grand Doll's given him
- 1:27:27guff. It could be I mean, come on, the dark the dark
- 1:27:30side is getting their ask. Yeah, it could be anything, like,
- 1:27:31let's be honest with Yeah, it could be anything. So it's it's appropriate
- 1:27:35anger in this moment, but it's also yeah maybe yeah, that constructive wave
- 1:27:41creation that's making it worse than it could be, And it's not great.
- 1:27:45It's not great. Bouji's pointing out that Barra and Karuna were a pair together
- 1:27:50in the same way and became very close in the same way that uh Ramanda
- 1:27:55and Lelane are a pair. Yeah, yeah, because they get sent off
- 1:27:58together to do stuff, and so every time they show up, it's Bara
- 1:28:00and Karuna, this, Bara and Karuna that right, right, Yeah,
- 1:28:03they're very romane, except that they don't have a good portmanteau mash up that
- 1:28:08there's no good like combined name for them, Baruna Baruna. I guess it's
- 1:28:14not that different than Brunhilda. Sure, and yeah, I do feel like
- 1:28:16Katswain's counting to three things almost kind of made sense until she spanked him,
- 1:28:24Yeah, because at which point I lose all respect for her process, like
- 1:28:27no, no, no, you. I was willing to see where you
- 1:28:30went, and I don't like it now that you've landed. But it's it's
- 1:28:33it's Robert Jordan saying that she's punishing him like a child. Now we can
- 1:28:39say that the punishment of the child of the day was spanking. We don't
- 1:28:43agree with that, Robert Jordna's the thing about spanking, we would punish a
- 1:28:46child in a different way. So in my head, I'm kind of going,
- 1:28:48okay, let's just move on past the spanking and be like, Okay,
- 1:28:53let's look at like she Let's say she put him in a timeout yeah,
- 1:28:58or like insisted that he needed an right, or like made him drink
- 1:29:01a cup of apple juice. You will eat this gram cracker, get yourself
- 1:29:06a juice box. Yeah, yeah, it would be It would be really
- 1:29:11interesting to just mentally replace all of her the times that she spanks him with
- 1:29:15something that's like far more twenty twenty like gentle parenting appropriate, and just like
- 1:29:19see if that makes the scene flow better, you know, because I really
- 1:29:24feel like if she was like, go sit in the corner, min get
- 1:29:28him his crackers. Everyone shut up, We're not talking to him for ten
- 1:29:30minutes, I feel like this scene would flow way better. I'm gonna choose
- 1:29:38to believe that that's what happened. Animal crackers were deployed. And so this
- 1:29:42is again where Katswayne gives them some real good advice, which is basically like,
- 1:29:45hey, you set terms, and you said they could do anything else,
- 1:29:47and not that only they got through the terms, but they also got
- 1:29:49you some reparations, so like suck it up, yeah, and realize that
- 1:29:56you're gonna have to give those lands back to the rebels because they did go
- 1:30:00siated for it. Yeah, And sometimes that's how you have to resolve civil
- 1:30:02wars. It's just do you want ty do you want the tyrants to be
- 1:30:08a unified army behind you going into the last battle, or do you want
- 1:30:11to be right? And she ends with this line when the terms you offer
- 1:30:15are accepted, hold to them, and Lewis Thearren falls up with else,
- 1:30:19no one will trust you, sounding entirely sane for the moment. Yeah,
- 1:30:26Yeah, he's the same one. He's the same one. It's like he
- 1:30:29knows people and kind of point that information and so he gives up inside it
- 1:30:33says, well, it looks like you're king darling. Yeah, because that's
- 1:30:36one of the terms. Is that Tear switches from having its Council of lords
- 1:30:42as the top to actually having against Stuart. Yeah, they're actually because,
- 1:30:46as it gets explained, it diffuses Rand's apparent power. If they decide on
- 1:30:53their own without being told that they're going to have a king, the king
- 1:30:57is completely divorce falle that dragon Shenanigan, Right, Yeah, and we swear
- 1:31:01to the King of Tyr we have nothing to do with the dragon. We're
- 1:31:04ignoring the fact that the king Tear happens to be, you know, have
- 1:31:08sworn fealty to the dragon. But that's none of our business. Yes,
- 1:31:10we're just reporting to the king, like we don't care who's he's sworn to.
- 1:31:14It's really interesting that they're breaking one thousand years of not having a king
- 1:31:17to do that. Mm hmm. Well, a lot of change going on
- 1:31:21right now. It's it's a funny way for the dragon to break all bonds,
- 1:31:26you know, Oh, the dragon will break all bonds. That means
- 1:31:28everyone's going to be you know, an anarchist communist running around the country side
- 1:31:31to do it. Now. Sometimes it means that republics decide to go back
- 1:31:34to a monarchy. Yep, I mean it's not really a republic, but
- 1:31:38I mean how monarchy? Yeah, I mean, come on, that was
- 1:31:40at best, it was an oligarchy at best. Yeah, but like they
- 1:31:44took pride in not being a monarchy, and now they're deciding to go back
- 1:31:48to being a monarchy. Like that is that is a very different kind of
- 1:31:51bond to be broken. And then yeah, King Darling gets to have his
- 1:31:55fortunes rise and decides that that's the moment to pop the question to Caroline and
- 1:32:00it's very yeah, oh I love where them on and an Ella's response to
- 1:32:06them all hail King Darlin wear them on in tones sounding half strangled, and
- 1:32:11after a moment, i La echoed him as breathless, as if she'd run
- 1:32:14a mile, like they are so screwed as dark friends. They were told
- 1:32:18to keep that from happening. That's their it's your goddamn job is to keep
- 1:32:23something from happening. And Rand just comes in and it's like, I'm gonna
- 1:32:26use my legendary action to completely negate everything you did. That's why I wear
- 1:32:30them on risked the attack he was The goal was to set the negotiations back
- 1:32:34to zero, to keep that tier from having a king and a stable government,
- 1:32:39and just they lost it. They lost it all because are dark friends
- 1:32:43and they're bad at their job. And men suggest really volunteers a design out
- 1:32:48of the future, which is just such a trippy thing. They're like,
- 1:32:51well, I'm gonna have to get a crown maiden. Without even waiting for
- 1:32:55them to debate it, She's just like, I'll just tell you what the
- 1:32:57finished product looks like. I can tell you how look if you like.
- 1:33:00That was one of my favorite lines because I was just like, wait,
- 1:33:02how does men know how it looks? And I was like the vision I
- 1:33:05don't know. That line sticks with me for some reason. It's like a
- 1:33:08really cool moment. It's just like yeah, yeah, yeah it is.
- 1:33:12It's really good payoff because it is. It was one of those early visions
- 1:33:15where she's like, yeah, I've seen Darling with it with a crown and
- 1:33:17you're like, wait, what, Like they don't even have kings. How
- 1:33:20are they going to get kings? Like I can't become a gang of a
- 1:33:24land that doesn't have kings, And here you find out yeah, they like
- 1:33:29they basically elected him king. Yeah that just happened. And she's like,
- 1:33:32yeah, let's just skip all the artistic back and forth because I know the
- 1:33:35design you're going to land on. So and Caroline says essentially yes, I'll
- 1:33:41marry you, but she dresses it up as a no. She's like,
- 1:33:44well, I will marry you if I like the way the crown looks on
- 1:33:47you, which is saying yes, because like clearly Min's crown design is not
- 1:33:53the deciding factor here. It's a very like tug in cheek wink and a
- 1:33:56no. It's super cute. I love them so much because she's like,
- 1:34:00I don't know if I want to be queen, but maybe if the crown
- 1:34:01looks good, you know, I was like yeah, ah ah, yeah,
- 1:34:05yeah yeah, if the shoe fits, yeah, it's great. I
- 1:34:10ran, of course, interrupts the romantic stuff and goes anyway, they're more
- 1:34:12important matters, and I neive and Man are both like, shut the fuck
- 1:34:15up. This is romantic. They need to get this out, like yeah,
- 1:34:20stop it, yeah, which you know, accurate, correct response,
- 1:34:25and uh, all I've got left is the readout for for you to do.
- 1:34:29That was a good chapter. And take us on out and me Lord
- 1:34:34Dragon, Whereamon asked avidly, he all but quivered with your eagerness, managing
- 1:34:40to strut while standing still. If there's fighting to be done, I can
- 1:34:45serve you better there than languishing in Kyrie Anne. Rand studied the Man and
- 1:34:49ian Ella, where m On was a bungling idiot, and he trusted neither,
- 1:34:54but he could not see what harm they could do with no more than
- 1:34:57a handful of followers. Very well, you two may accompany high lord,
- 1:35:01that is King Darlin. Ianella gulped, as though she for one would rather
- 1:35:05return to Kyrie Anne. But what am I supposed to do? In Ora
- 1:35:10Domon? Darlin wanted to know the little. I've heard of that land.
- 1:35:13It's a madhouse. Lois there and laughed wildly, and Rand said, Tarman
- 1:35:17Guiden is coming soon. Rand said, the light sent not too soon.
- 1:35:23You are going to Ara Domon to get ready for Tarman Guide. And as
- 1:36:09we know, the hut was kind of the starting you know, we've we've
- 1:36:13had the starting gun. The countdown has begun. Yeah, it's the fin
- 1:36:17cant Yeah. And I guess the only other thing. Uh, we never
- 1:36:24get any success in Ericdomon, right, we get the whole like sacks of
- 1:36:28grain thing going on. But Darlin never has any success in erondom On.
- 1:36:32No. No, Darlin does what he can, which is basically, well,
- 1:36:38I mean he does, yeah, he has nothing to do. He
- 1:36:42is I believe where I believe Tyr is where all of the uniforms and stuff
- 1:36:47come through. When Rand goes back and discovers that all the grain is good
- 1:36:50and is doing his Zen Rand thing, and it's like all these men get
- 1:36:53them uniforms and get them cleaned up. And I believe it is tier that
- 1:36:58he gate weighs all the resources in from. But yeah, Darlin himself is
- 1:37:01never really on scene to do anything like that. But It's still a momentous
- 1:37:09thing for Rand to say, you are going to anywhere to to prepare for
- 1:37:14Tarmin guide on like that is a momentous thing for Rand to say, regardless
- 1:37:17of the city in question or nation in question. Yes, right, right,
- 1:37:21this is this is no longer and this isn't like oh yeah, we're
- 1:37:25building up nations and we need to get ready for Tarmin guide and then yeah,
- 1:37:28this is like no, you're going there because the next stop is hell
- 1:37:32is it Armageddon? Right? Like we are we are, you know,
- 1:37:36one last pit stop to get ready for it, and then we're off to
- 1:37:40see the Wizard. Yeah, yeah, we're gearing up all right. Yeah,
- 1:37:47no, that was that was fun. There was a lot of a
- 1:37:48lot of good payoffs in that chapter, a lot of uh, you know,
- 1:37:53we sort of got the end of a storyline with the rebels, right,
- 1:37:57we're starting to end storylines, We're starting to wrap things up. We're
- 1:38:00starting to really set up the last battle. We are writing determined guidance.
- 1:38:02Yeah, Land's on his way, Darling's on his way like check a check
- 1:38:09at checka. The train is getting invented and pulling out of the station.
- 1:38:13All right, And I think with that I'll turn the RECORDINGO off. All
- 1:38:15right, thank you so much everyone. I need to remember to let Audacity
- 1:38:25update student so it stops asking me before it forces me into it at an
- 1:38:30awkward time. Did we ever figure out if Audacity got like like I heard,
- 1:38:33they got this weird hostile takeover where they were going to put in a
- 1:38:36bunch of weird spyware or something, I don't remember the details. And then
- 1:38:42like it, there was such a protest that I thought it got delayed,
- 1:38:45and then I wasn't sure if it got canceled. It was one of those
- 1:38:48Internet moments and I never I knew about it at the time, but I
- 1:38:53wasn't sure if we ever got a resolution to it. I haven't followed up
- 1:38:57on it. I think about that almost every time I start up on us
- 1:39:00because I never, you know, like changed away from it, because it's
- 1:39:02just the software that works. Yeah, I've never seen a fall. I've
- 1:39:08never sought out any follow up to it, and it hasn't come across my
- 1:39:12desk either way. I have not done my homework. But also no one
- 1:39:15has presented me with, you know, a thing to notice, So I
- 1:39:20don't know, and as far as I know, you recording yourself is the
- 1:39:24only use we make of it, right, because you don't edit with it,
- 1:39:27and I don't record with it or edit with it, right Yeah.
- 1:39:30Yeah, Audacity is purely there to capture the audio waves an export at MP
- 1:39:33three, which then goes to a completely different machine and a completely different daw
- 1:39:38digital audio work station for all all editing everything. Yeah. I actually wonder
- 1:39:45if I could do Reaper for recording. You can no, or I can
- 1:39:51no, I mean, you totally can. I just the reasons why I'm
- 1:39:55not doing that why I'm using Audacity instead of Reaper are because anyway, signal
- 1:40:01chain and computer stuff that is not interesting podcast material anyway, moving on,
- 1:40:09Well you want you don't want to talk shop? That's way too nerdy for
- 1:40:12our dear listeners. Anything interesting going on? I stabbed myself with a burning
- 1:40:17stick in the throat. Yeah, don't do that. PSA. Yeah.
- 1:40:24Pro tip guys, if you're picking up branches and you're a burning fire and
- 1:40:27shoving them into the fire, be very careful that one of them doesn't flip
- 1:40:30around and stab you in the neck, because then you'll have a really awkward
- 1:40:35burn on your throat. And it's just very silly. It's the worst fire
- 1:40:41injury I've ever given myself. I think it looks a bit like you got
- 1:40:44bit with a one tooth vampire. Like he was going for that like one
- 1:40:47neck bite. Yeah, like he was like missing one for work, and
- 1:40:51so you got just like ah, oh without wait that was one bite?
- 1:40:55What the hell? Yeah? Yeah, it looks like a pretty deep red
- 1:41:00burn mark right on the side of your throat. Yeah, it's kind of
- 1:41:02almost like a cigarette burn or something like. Yeah that because I just like
- 1:41:05straight on with like it was like a whippy little branch, you know.
- 1:41:09It just like there's a whole tangle of like whippy little shrub branches or apple
- 1:41:13suckers or something, you know. And yeah, it's just be careful with
- 1:41:19fire, kids and adults. It's dangerous. And it very easily could have
- 1:41:26been like my eye or my nose or something that's much less durable than just
- 1:41:30like my throat, you know, like, yeah, it's fine, it's
- 1:41:32just skin whatever, but like they all happened so fast it very easily could
- 1:41:38have been my face. Yeah, so careful about there. That's That's all
- 1:41:45I have to report, is the perpetual sensation of healing on my throat,
- 1:41:48reminding me to be very careful with fire. That's that's what's going on with
- 1:41:51me. Ah, you must be careful with fire and protect your spirit.
- 1:42:00Fire and spirit. Yes, and well, just this weaven gateways, there's
- 1:42:04a there's a there's a point about fire and spirit I'm gonna make later on
- 1:42:08in the chapter. So I'm foreshadowing, oh for fire and spirit. Okay,
- 1:42:12all right, I had too much of fire and not enough spirit.
