Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, from the Star Runnels Sports Desk, your 93.3 KJR
- 0:05Speaker 1: FM Sports Headlines.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Good morning. Happy Monday. Pretty nice Monday, I'd say, in
- 0:09Speaker 2: the Pacific Northwest.
- 0:11Speaker 3: We're happy.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Headlines brought to you by Frostbrew Coors Light. As cold
- 0:15Speaker 2: as the Rockies. Seahawks absolutely dominated the previously unbeaten Kansas
- 0:19Speaker 2: City Chiefs last night at Lumen Field. 20-3 win. Jackson
- 0:23Speaker 2: Smith and Jigba and Nick Eman were the two studs
- 0:26Speaker 2: of the game. I wrote it at 933kjr. com.
- 0:28Speaker 4: It was.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Their stars, their two best players were the best players
- 0:32Speaker 2: on the field. Nick Emanwuri was fantastic.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So much more than the statistic. We'll talk about that.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Dick Smith and Jigba, 150 more yards receiving. Exploiting the Chiefs'
- 0:43Speaker 2: press and man coverage. They kept staying in. Perfect touchdown
- 0:45Speaker 2: pass on that coverage from Sam Darnold in the first half.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So much more in this game, what I learned, what
- 0:51Speaker 2: I heard in the locker room. Coming up this morning
- 0:54Speaker 2: on his day after coach's radio show, Mike McDonald said
- 0:57Speaker 2: of Jadarian Price, who's on injured reserve, has been for
- 1:00Speaker 2: the last four games, ribs and chest injuries. This is
- 1:06Speaker 2: the quote from McDonald this morning about 20 minutes, 10
- 1:08Speaker 2: minutes ago. Quote, the plan is for J.D. to practice
- 1:11Speaker 2: this week, and then game status and all that we
- 1:14Speaker 2: don't know yet. Imaging on Charles Cross's injured ankle in
- 1:18Speaker 2: the second half last night. Quote, we're still waiting on.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Rasheed Shaheen, knee injury, left the game in the third
- 1:24Speaker 2: quarter last night. Quote from McDonald, early returns are positive.
- 1:29Speaker 2: 49ers aren't unbeaten anymore. Falcons upset them in Atlanta. Seahawks
- 1:33Speaker 2: in four and three are now two games back in
- 1:35Speaker 2: the loss column from the Niners. Seahawks at 49ers next month.
- 1:39Speaker 2: on Thanksgiving weekend down in Santa Clara. The Vikings are
- 1:41Speaker 2: the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL. They beat
- 1:43Speaker 2: the Colts. Again, didn't score 20 points in doing it.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Clint Kubiak's Raiders lost their fourth straight game. We're talking
- 1:49Speaker 2: about a quarterback change. They've hacked through Mendoza, the number
- 1:52Speaker 2: one overall pick, blown out by the Rams. The Raiders
- 1:54Speaker 2: were yesterday. The Broncos beat the Cardinals. So the NFC
- 1:57Speaker 2: West is the 49ers at 6-1, the Seahawks at 4-3,
- 1:59Speaker 2: the Rams at 3-4, and the Cardinals at 2-5. This
- 2:04Speaker 2: coming week, the 49ers are off. The Seahawks host the
- 2:06Speaker 2: 5-2 Bears Monday night. The Rams are hosting the 0-6
- 2:09Speaker 2: Chargers on Sunday, and the Cardinals are at the 2-4 Cowboys.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Cowboys at Eagles is the Monday night game, 5-15 tonight
- 2:15Speaker 2: live on 93.3 KJRFM. Kraken lost 5-1 to the Minnesota
- 2:20Speaker 2: Wild on Sunday. More than that, they lost Jared McCann
- 2:22Speaker 2: for 10 weeks or more, like into the new year,
- 2:25Speaker 2: with a lower body injury. That sucks. That does suck
- 2:28Speaker 2: to forward on injured reserve. Kraken are now 7-4-1. They
- 2:32Speaker 2: next host Toronto on Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena right
- 2:35Speaker 2: here in your home of the Kraken, 93.3 KJR. The
- 2:38Speaker 2: Washington Huskies were off this past weekend. They played Nebraska Saturday.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Jet Fish is going to keep everyone guessing, I'm sure,
- 2:43Speaker 2: all week on whether Elijah Brown or DeMond Williams start
- 2:46Speaker 2: a quarterback in Lincoln.
- 2:48Speaker 3: It's a chess game. It's a chess game.
- 2:49Speaker 2: A little gamesmanship, I'm sure.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Why not? Jessamyn's Washington State Cougars lost 31-10 to 21st
- 2:55Speaker 2: ranked Boise State Saturday at Martin Stadium to fall to 1-7.
- 2:58Speaker 2: That was a 10-10 game in the fourth.
- 3:00Speaker 3: We had three really good quarters. We had three good quarters.
- 3:05Speaker 5: But yeah, that was the final score.
- 3:08Speaker 3: There you go. But you factored the under.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I did. We went 4-1 on Fact and Fiction again
- 3:14Speaker 2: because that's just what we do on this show.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I'm still batting 500.
- 3:16Speaker 6: Okay.
- 3:19Speaker 2: My Jets, man. The J-E-T-S.
- 3:21Speaker 4: Jets.
- 3:22Speaker 3: They were not the J-E-S-S.
- 3:24Speaker 7: Jets.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Jets. Jets. They lost to the previously winless Dolphins.
- 3:30Speaker 8: At home.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Garrett Wilson.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Fireman Ed was there.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Garrett Wilson was arguing on the bench. It looked like
- 3:36Speaker 2: pointed comments at Geno Smith.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Shocking that he gets into controversy.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, we went 4-1 on Fact or Fiction. So at
- 3:44Speaker 2: 11.35 today, I'm going to give you the abridged version
- 3:48Speaker 2: of what you should do. If you want to win $ 1, 000,
- 3:50Speaker 2: text FACT to 49451. If you don't want to win $ 1, 000,
- 3:52Speaker 2: text FICTION. That's really how it goes. We are so
- 3:56Speaker 2: far ahead of the rest of the pack in this station.
- 3:58Speaker 2: What are we, like, nine games over 500 now?
- 4:01Speaker 3: I think they are.
- 4:02Speaker 2: No one else is above 500. We're nine games over.
- 4:05Speaker 2: We are.
- 4:06Speaker 9: We are.
- 4:06Speaker 3: We are well in first.
- 4:08Speaker 5: We're 22-13.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Race of boats on Factor Fiction with this show.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Well, at least we're not like king of the poop pile.
- 4:16Speaker 5: We're actually doing very well.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yes, we are. No surprise. The World Series. Brewers have
- 4:21Speaker 2: a 2-0 lead over the Rays. Game three is tonight
- 4:24Speaker 2: in Tampa Bay. Another big weekend of high school football
- 4:27Speaker 2: across our state. Unbeaten Puyallup smashed previously one loss. Emerald Ridge, 44-0.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Bellevue beat Mount Si, 49-18. I officiated North Creek's 27-12
- 4:38Speaker 2: win over Woodinville at Pop Keeney. Now on with the
- 4:41Speaker 2: Monday show.
- 4:41Speaker 10: The countdown is on.
- 4:43Speaker 1: This is the countdown to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 4:47Speaker 4: He's going to go into the open field.
- 4:49Speaker 1: As we count you down to tonight's game at 515.
- 4:52Speaker 1: He'll coast in for the touchdown. Brought to you by
- 4:56Speaker 1: Frostbrew Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies. On Sports Radio 93.3,
- 5:01Speaker 1: AJR FM.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Struggling Eagles at Struggling Cowboys, the Monday night game,
- 5:10Speaker 2: 5-15 at night on KJR. I was just thinking, of course—
- 5:14Speaker 2: I would hate to see it. Yeah, not at all, right?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Not at all. Anyone that's not from Philadelphia or New
- 5:19Speaker 2: York or Dallas, they don't mind to see the Eagles
- 5:22Speaker 2: and Cowboys go down. You know, I was just thinking
- 5:25Speaker 2: why— it' s not a surprise. Why would we not be boat
- 5:28Speaker 2: racing everybody else in Factor Fiction? You and I are
- 5:30Speaker 2: the only two people at this station that actually cover
- 5:33Speaker 2: football week to week, day to day.
- 5:36Speaker 3: That is actually fair, yes.
- 5:37Speaker 5: And I never do it with college, just for integrity purposes.
- 5:42Speaker 3: But yeah, I always go.
- 5:43Speaker 5: NFL, and I have been a straight 500 all year.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And I pretty much go straight college.
- 5:49Speaker 3: You do, and you have been crushing it.
- 5:52Speaker 2: The Army team, the pride and dream, every heart and gray,
- 5:53Speaker 2: winning on the last second field goal at Tulsa on
- 5:56Speaker 2: Friday night. They scored 10 points in the final two
- 5:59Speaker 2: minutes to win that game, Army did.
- 6:01Speaker 11: You're 14-6.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Did I hear surprise in your voice there?
- 6:06Speaker 3: I was just looking up the updated standings. It's my job.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I should know the sport a little bit.
- 6:10Speaker 8: But you should.
- 6:11Speaker 12: You should.
- 6:11Speaker 2: You should.
- 6:12Speaker 3: But so should we all. And you're just better at
- 6:14Speaker 3: it than anyone else.
- 6:16Speaker 10: No.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Everyone else is... They're just here. You and I go
- 6:19Speaker 2: from here to jobs. Our jobs on football sidelines in
- 6:22Speaker 2: the locker rooms.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I was here last night. I was with Hugh and
- 6:25Speaker 3: Dick hanging out.
- 6:26Speaker 2: The 12th Man Show.
- 6:27Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Postgame show. Yeah. 4-1 at Army 1. The under on.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Remind me. It was the– Hold on.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I'll get it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: It was so far under, too. Oh, it was the
- 6:40Speaker 2: Washington State-Boise State game. It was 53.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Well, that one you were correct. It was 53 and
- 6:44Speaker 3: a half. Yeah, 53 and a half. It was that one, yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 2: And then I can't remember what the third one was.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Oh, I took my heart way too hard.
- 6:52Speaker 2: On that one. Oh, Navy going way down again. Too bad.
- 6:56Speaker 2: So sad. So sad. The two-win Navy got beat at
- 7:00Speaker 2: home by 10 by North Texas. That's just too bad.
- 7:02Speaker 5: You went with your heart pretty hard on that one,
- 7:05Speaker 5: but you were a clean batting 1,000 that week.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I was the only fiction.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It was two weeks in a row, by the way.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Six and 0 the last two weeks.
- 7:10Speaker 3: You're correct.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Just stating facts. North Texas, 49-39 over Navy. Poor Navy.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I really feel badly that their defense gives up more.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I mean, if our Navy was bad at their jobs,
- 7:22Speaker 2: as the Navy football team is bad at defending, we'd
- 7:25Speaker 2: be sunk as a country.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Okay. I appreciate that analogy.
- 7:29Speaker 5: But to quote the cinematic treasure that is Tommy Boy,
- 7:34Speaker 5: I'm picking up on your sarcasm there.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Good reference. Sandusky, Ohio. On the show today... We all
- 7:43Speaker 2: saw how brilliant Jackson Smith and Jigba were. A casual fan.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I mean, anybody noticed that with the catches and the
- 7:49Speaker 2: yards and beating the coverage no matter what the Chiefs
- 7:52Speaker 2: threw at him. The touchdown along the sidelines. But we're
- 7:55Speaker 2: going to get into how fantastic Nicky Manwari was last night.
- 7:58Speaker 2: There were three plays in the first half I don't
- 8:00Speaker 2: know if anybody else in the NFL could make. One
- 8:03Speaker 2: against Patrick Mahomes. One against Mahomes and Walker on the
- 8:06Speaker 2: same play. And one, man up, head up on Xavier Worthy.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Who is the fastest man in the NFL. He ran
- 8:13Speaker 2: the fastest combine time ever recorded. The fastest official time,
- 8:17Speaker 2: Xavier Worthy, 2024 NFL scouting combine, Indianapolis, 4.21 seconds.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Oh, that's linear, though.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I mean, you know, that's like having a really good
- 8:30Speaker 5: track time.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Correct.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 2: But at 6'3, 220 pounds, Nicky Maury went head up
- 8:35Speaker 2: with him in the slot. We're going to tell you
- 8:37Speaker 2: what happened. You probably, if you saw it, I'm sure,
- 8:39Speaker 2: I wasn't watching the game, I'm sure NBC Dick probably
- 8:43Speaker 2: went through the eaches on that. I'm sure they had
- 8:46Speaker 2: a replay of Imanwuri against Xavier Worthy. They may not
- 8:50Speaker 2: have had a replay of what Imanwuri did on a
- 8:52Speaker 2: third and one at midfield in the second quarter before
- 8:55Speaker 2: the Tai Okada interception. We're going to talk about the
- 8:58Speaker 2: third and one that Imanwuri stopped by taking out two
- 9:01Speaker 2: players in one play. The two best players on the
- 9:04Speaker 2: field for Kansas City on one play. It was fantastic.
- 9:08Speaker 2: We're going to give love to the Seahawks line of
- 9:10Speaker 2: scrimmage play last night. The entire region was all over
- 9:12Speaker 2: the offensive line for 10 sacks in two games, right? Well,
- 9:16Speaker 2: last night they stood up. No sacks allowed. Only two
- 9:20Speaker 2: hits on the quarterback, Sam Darnold. I talked to Gray
- 9:23Speaker 2: Zabel in the locker room. You'll hear from him. I
- 9:25Speaker 2: talked to Byron Murphy about what they did to stop
- 9:27Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker. 36 yards on 14 carries. A guy was
- 9:31Speaker 2: averaging 133 coming in, leading the NFL. Jessamyn put together
- 9:36Speaker 2: a montage, as they say in Paris, of.
- 9:39Speaker 3: We're French now?
- 9:40Speaker 2: The Steelers beating the Saints in Paris yesterday, by the way.
- 9:44Speaker 2: We're going to put them on montage. She put a
- 9:46Speaker 2: montage together of all the highlights, and there were many
- 9:48Speaker 2: of them last night for the Seahawks.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Darnold trying to get a peek.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Here comes the pressure.
- 9:56Speaker 15: The mark at the 44 is a Seattle first down.
- 10:07Speaker 15: Five in the pattern.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Third and seven.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Down in the middle.
- 10:08Speaker 6: Smith and Chigley again.
- 10:16Speaker 2: On the run.
- 10:17Speaker 4: J.R.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Sennin.
- 10:17Speaker 15: Accelerating to the 20-yard line. Game at 27.
- 10:19Speaker 2: First down Seahawks. Seahawks have it at the 20-yard line.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Jones turns the corner. Here's Jones.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Step down the.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Bounce.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Step down the bounce at the nine. It's going to
- 10:30Speaker 2: be first and goal Seattle. Second and ten.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Out of bounds at the 1.
- 10:44Speaker 15: What a catch. Here's Seattle with two timeouts and then
- 11:04Speaker 15: 16 left.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Chance to hang on to this.
- 11:06Speaker 2: In the middle there he goes again. Smith and Jitko
- 11:12Speaker 2: for 17 to the 43-yard line.
- 11:13Speaker 4: An 80! Good! 35 seconds remaining.
- 11:17Speaker 16: Darnold.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Sideline shot.
- 11:18Speaker 5: KSA again.
- 11:18Speaker 12: On the way.
- 11:20Speaker 6: This time he is out of bounds at the 2.
- 11:29Speaker 15: George Helani is the back to begin from the 26.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Darnold scans and comes back to his tight end.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And again a 17 in the first down.
- 11:41Speaker 11: Bring in 4.
- 11:42Speaker 17: Darnold.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Stepping up, keeping it alive, now.
- 11:50Speaker 15: He's going to take off, and he gets there again.
- 11:53Speaker 15: Second time that Darnold's scrambled has you to the Seattle
- 11:56Speaker 15: first down.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Eight of ten, the Seahawks team on third down. Darnold
- 11:58Speaker 4: gets it.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Oh, they're going to do it again?
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yes, they did!
- 12:05Speaker 2: Story of the game. Seattle living on third down. And
- 12:07Speaker 2: Darnold playing to be in chase.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Slips it out to Barner.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Barner got a block.
- 12:10Speaker 11: Barner to the 11th.
- 12:11Speaker 4: First down.
- 12:11Speaker 16: Game of 20.
- 12:12Speaker 15: Mahomes is going to take it off here.
- 12:19Speaker 4: It's behind.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Still out.
- 12:26Speaker 8: Still out.
- 12:27Speaker 10: Still out.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Seattle made him the last one with a player underneath.
- 12:33Speaker 15: It was forced out by.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Derek Hall. Stays on his feet.
- 12:43Speaker 3: He goes to the end zone. Touchdown Seattle.
- 12:45Speaker 7: A huge hole.
- 12:46Speaker 18: And not very often do you see this Kansas City
- 12:48Speaker 18: Chiefs defensive front leave a gap open.
- 12:54Speaker 2: That last play, by the way, the 21-yard touchdown run
- 12:56Speaker 2: by Emmanuel Wilson. Eric Saubert took his guy. He had
- 12:59Speaker 2: two tight ends on the left side. Eric Saubert, the
- 13:02Speaker 2: extra tight end, took his guy from the left side
- 13:04Speaker 2: of the formation across the center. Just crushed him down
- 13:09Speaker 2: into the middle of the field. Emmanuel Wilson had no
- 13:11Speaker 2: choice but to bounce it outside. That led to the
- 13:14Speaker 2: 100-yard game for Emmanuel Wilson. As Mike McDonald said, once
- 13:17Speaker 2: he gets going, he's tough to stop. The problem is
- 13:19Speaker 2: he's not always easy to get going. Again, last night
- 13:24Speaker 2: he had a couple times that he was having trouble
- 13:25Speaker 2: getting to the outside zone. But the outside zone and
- 13:29Speaker 2: inside zone plays working the way the Seahawks offensive line
- 13:32Speaker 2: designed and the way they want to block it. That
- 13:35Speaker 2: set up the pass game. No sacks at all of
- 13:37Speaker 2: Sam Darnold. 20-3, the Seahawks win last night. Seahawks, you
- 13:44Speaker 2: heard Mike Tirico, Chris Collins, we're talking about third downs
- 13:46Speaker 2: there from NBC's broadcast last night. The Seahawks at one
- 13:49Speaker 2: point were 10-12 on third down. They ended up 11
- 13:52Speaker 2: for 16. That was the best third down percentage, 69%,
- 13:57Speaker 2: since 2018, the London game, when they beat the Raiders
- 14:02Speaker 2: 27-3 at Wembley. I was there on the sidelines. I
- 14:04Speaker 2: remember that night thinking, man, they aren't missing on third down.
- 14:06Speaker 7: That was Russell Wilson.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Well, that's what last night was like. A 20-3 win
- 14:09Speaker 2: over a cheap, much more impressive last night than over
- 14:12Speaker 2: that Raiders team in London eight years ago. The Seahawks
- 14:15Speaker 2: last night, my buddy Josh Dubow from the Associated Press
- 14:17Speaker 2: down in in San Francisco said the Seahawks five or
- 14:20Speaker 2: six last night on third and nine or more. Josh
- 14:24Speaker 2: Dubow says that's the best percentage in a game since
- 14:27Speaker 2: the Colts went five for five against the Texans on
- 14:30Speaker 2: third and nine or more in 2008. It had been
- 14:35Speaker 2: 18 years in the NFL since a team had been
- 14:37Speaker 2: that successful on that many tries on third or nine
- 14:40Speaker 2: and more. Nick Eman worry. I, He comes down questionable
- 14:47Speaker 2: on the injury report Friday afternoon. And I had no
- 14:51Speaker 2: question he was going to play. And knowing Eamon Worry
- 14:53Speaker 2: and McDonald like I did, I thought there was a
- 14:55Speaker 2: little bit of gamesmanship there. But McDonald said on Friday
- 14:57Speaker 2: that he came down with a hip injury and they
- 15:01Speaker 2: have to manage it. I said, what shade of questionable?
- 15:03Speaker 2: I asked him on Friday, McDonald, what shade of questionable
- 15:05Speaker 2: is Eamon Worry? He goes, he's questionable. Well, Eamon Worry
- 15:08Speaker 2: said the reason he was questionable, I wrote this at 933KJR. com.
- 15:10Speaker 2: The story's up right now. Posted it this morning on Emanuary.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Emanuary said the reason he was injured last week is
- 15:16Speaker 2: they used him too much on all the different places
- 15:18Speaker 2: they had him in the game plan. Four-point stance at
- 15:21Speaker 2: defensive line. Inside linebacker. Outside linebacker. Slot corner. Deep safety.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Big safety in the big nickel. He said he just
- 15:31Speaker 2: got worn out and his hip got tight. And then
- 15:34Speaker 2: they had to manage it after Friday. They played nickel
- 15:37Speaker 2: and dime on almost all of the 53 defensive snaps
- 15:40Speaker 2: last night. which we've been saying all month, when is
- 15:43Speaker 2: it going to be back to what it was last year? Well,
- 15:45Speaker 2: last night it was. Nicky Maury was on the field
- 15:47Speaker 2: for all 53 of those snaps. All 53, 100% of
- 15:52Speaker 2: the snaps. Remember we talked about when is he going
- 15:54Speaker 2: to finally play like he did last year? Last night
- 15:56Speaker 2: he did. Now, I see a couple outlets saying that
- 15:59Speaker 2: because Maury played all 53 snaps, they were in nickel
- 16:02Speaker 2: and dime the whole game. Well, nickel by the, if
- 16:05Speaker 2: you say that Neiman Warriors is safety, but there were
- 16:07Speaker 2: times that he was the third linebacker with Tyrese Knight
- 16:10Speaker 2: replacing the injured Drake Thomas again next to Ernest Jones
- 16:14Speaker 2: in more like a 4-3. And there were some run
- 16:16Speaker 2: situations that that's what the setup was. Not really nickel
- 16:19Speaker 2: in the truest sense, but nickel if you count Neiman
- 16:21Speaker 2: Warriors as safety as a fifth defensive back on the field.
- 16:24Speaker 2: One of those times was a third and one midway
- 16:27Speaker 2: through the second quarter, 3-0 game. Near midfield, we're going
- 16:30Speaker 2: right to left, and Mahomes just runs a sprint out
- 16:34Speaker 2: to the right. I don't know if you remember this play, Jessamyn.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Third and one, they run a sprint out to the right.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And Mahomes usually walks across the line with first down.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I know. It's like he has a golden shield.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Around him or something.
- 16:47Speaker 17: Right.
- 16:48Speaker 2: But on this play, Eamon Worre shook off the lead
- 16:52Speaker 2: block and set the edge. I mean, like a middle
- 16:55Speaker 2: linebacker would set it just standing in the hole. He
- 16:58Speaker 2: set the edge at the line of scrimmage. and absolutely
- 17:02Speaker 2: dissuaded Mahomes from running. So Mahomes looks up to his
- 17:06Speaker 2: primary receiver, which is Kenneth Walker, running a short flat
- 17:09Speaker 2: route to the right, a little two, three-yard pass. Eamon
- 17:12Speaker 2: Worry was, first of all, strong enough to take on
- 17:14Speaker 2: the block and set the edge on the run, to
- 17:16Speaker 2: deny Mahomes the run. Then he was fast enough to
- 17:19Speaker 2: go out and take Kenneth Walker out of the play.
- 17:21Speaker 2: He was standing in front of Walker when Mahomes was
- 17:23Speaker 2: going to try to throw to him. So now Mahomes
- 17:26Speaker 2: is stuck. So he's waiting as he's running toward the sidelines,
- 17:29Speaker 2: running out of real estate. And that's when DeMarcus Lawrence
- 17:32Speaker 2: came off his block and came in and forced, he
- 17:34Speaker 2: was almost going to sack Mahomes for one or two
- 17:36Speaker 2: yard loss. And Mahomes just flicked the ball into the ground,
- 17:40Speaker 2: wide of Eamon Worre and Walker incomplete. They lived to
- 17:43Speaker 2: go to fourth and one. And then on fourth and one,
- 17:45Speaker 2: the reason that Walker converted that fourth and one for
- 17:47Speaker 2: a first down was he ran inside the guards away
- 17:50Speaker 2: from Eamon Worre. And he reads, okay, I'm not running
- 17:54Speaker 2: to Imanwuri this time. I'm going to run away from him.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And they ran up the middle for the first down.
- 17:58Speaker 2: A couple plays after that was when he ran down
- 18:02Speaker 2: Mahomes from behind on the interception. On that play, I
- 18:04Speaker 2: asked Imanwuri after the game about it. He said he
- 18:08Speaker 2: was the inside linebacker next to Jones on the weak side.
- 18:12Speaker 2: He had a blitz call through the A-gap. McDonald was
- 18:15Speaker 2: sending him through an A-gap. If it was a run play,
- 18:19Speaker 2: his assignment was to tackle the running back inside the guards. Well,
- 18:22Speaker 2: guess what Reed did? He had the perfect play call.
- 18:25Speaker 2: He had a bootleg away from at the blitzing linebacker,
- 18:29Speaker 2: away from where to the side that Imanwari came from.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Mahomes with the bootleg fakes the play action. That draws
- 18:38Speaker 2: Imanwari across not only the center's face, but across the
- 18:41Speaker 2: right hash mark. The play started near the middle of
- 18:44Speaker 2: the field.
- 18:45Speaker 3: That's a lot of field to cover.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Right.
- 18:47Speaker 2: So he's on the, if you can picture this on
- 18:48Speaker 2: the radio, he's now on the right hash mark as
- 18:51Speaker 2: Mahomes is rolling out across the left hash mark. Imanwari
- 18:56Speaker 2: ran from outside the right hash mark to outside the
- 18:58Speaker 2: left hash mark, horizontally right to left across the Kansas
- 19:02Speaker 2: City backfield to chase down Mahomes. I know Mahomes is
- 19:05Speaker 2: 10 months removed from a reconstructive knee surgery. But as
- 19:10Speaker 2: Imanwari's teammates told him on the bench after this play, man,
- 19:14Speaker 2: dudes don't do that. Dudes don't run down Mahomes from behind.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Not Mahomes either.
- 19:19Speaker 4: No.
- 19:20Speaker 2: And Mahomes couldn't believe it. You could see his body
- 19:23Speaker 2: language as he was throwing the pass. He couldn't believe
- 19:25Speaker 2: that someone was behind him because when he turned the
- 19:27Speaker 2: corner on the bootleg, there was nobody there behind or
- 19:29Speaker 2: in front of him. Where he hits him as he throws, Mahomes'
- 19:34Speaker 2: worst pass of the night. Way wide and over the
- 19:36Speaker 2: wide receiver. Right in, well, not right in. Ty Okada
- 19:39Speaker 2: had to come charging in from covering deeper to make
- 19:41Speaker 2: an interception. That interception set up the Seahawks' first touchdown.
- 19:44Speaker 2: That's play two. Then also late in the first half,
- 19:48Speaker 2: play three, the Chiefs. still in the second quarter, going
- 19:51Speaker 2: right to left, line up Xavier Worthy on the left slot.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I don't know if NBC showed this or not. I
- 19:58Speaker 2: heard it, yes. Eamon Worry takes him head up in
- 20:01Speaker 2: the slot like he's Devin Witherspoon or something, as a
- 20:05Speaker 2: slot corner.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I mean, if you talk about like a.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Swiss Army knife?
- 20:10Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 3: On the football field?
- 20:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 3: That's exactly who you want. And he's so young.
- 20:15Speaker 2: 22 years old.
- 20:16Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Nicky Moore is 6'3, 220 pounds. He ran step for
- 20:21Speaker 2: step with the 4'2, 1'2, Xavier Worthy, reputed to be
- 20:23Speaker 2: the fastest guy in the NFL, on a deep fade route.
- 20:26Speaker 2: It was a 30-some yard sprint. You know Andy Reid
- 20:29Speaker 2: loved the lineup when he saw the play about to start. Oh,
- 20:32Speaker 2: this is a touchdown. We got the part-time defensive end,
- 20:35Speaker 2: part-time linebacker, part-time safety, head up against Xavier Worthy. This
- 20:39Speaker 2: is going to be a touchdown. He said step for step,
- 20:42Speaker 2: ran step for step with him on the deep fade. Mahomes'
- 20:46Speaker 2: throw looked like it was purposely incomplete. Four yards inside
- 20:49Speaker 2: both of them. Like he couldn't believe it either. And
- 20:51Speaker 2: he said, I'm not even going to challenge this coverage.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I'm just throwing it in the ground. The ball landed
- 20:56Speaker 2: like four yards away from both of them down the seam.
- 21:00Speaker 2: A brilliant play that saved a touchdown. That was Nicky
- 21:04Speaker 2: Manwari creating a touchdown by running Mahomes down interception from
- 21:08Speaker 2: behind and then saving a touchdown later in the half.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Half ends 10-0 Seahawks because of number three. I don't
- 21:16Speaker 2: know if anybody in the league could have done that,
- 21:19Speaker 2: especially running down Mahomes from behind, especially running with Xavier Worthy.
- 21:22Speaker 10: 4-9-4-5-1.
- 21:24Speaker 2: On a Tacoma Dodge text line, your favorite part of
- 21:27Speaker 2: the game last night. We'll read back your text at 1130.
- 21:30Speaker 5: And talkbacks, even though Greg is here with me in studio.
- 21:33Speaker 5: We have a lot of talkbacks. Don't forget Factor Fiction, 1135.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Greg will make his pick.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yes, I will.
- 21:39Speaker 3: He's crushing it.
- 21:40Speaker 5: And by the way, for those out there, he was
- 21:43Speaker 5: giving a gentle ribbing, I guess I would say, to
- 21:46Speaker 5: the rest of those out here. We have a lot
- 21:48Speaker 5: of people who cover football on a regular basis, and
- 21:51Speaker 5: that was a gentle ribbing. But I think that Greg's
- 21:55Speaker 5: point was just that he is crushing everyone who still
- 22:00Speaker 5: covers football on a regular basis. We got Softie on
- 22:05Speaker 5: the UW sidelines. We got me on the Wazoo sidelines.
- 22:08Speaker 10: Correct.
- 22:08Speaker 3: We got Ian out at Seahawks all the time. We
- 22:11Speaker 3: got people everywhere. We got Hugh.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm kidding. I know you were. Hugh doesn't make picks.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Hugh doesn't make picks.
- 22:17Speaker 5: No, I know, but I'm just saying our people are everywhere,
- 22:19Speaker 5: and that's important for everyone to know.
- 22:21Speaker 3: You were ribbing.
- 22:22Speaker 2: That was a ribbing on those in here that always say, wow,
- 22:25Speaker 2: you went 4-1 this week, or your show went 4-1.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Your show's in first. Why is that a surprise? That's all. Hey,
- 22:30Speaker 2: at 11 o'clock, we're going to do something we rarely do.
- 22:32Speaker 2: You're going to hear from Mike McDonald, but we also
- 22:35Speaker 2: want to open up the phone lines. Everyone says, why
- 22:36Speaker 2: don't you ever have phone calls?
- 22:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I do love the talkbacks, but I am always
- 22:41Speaker 5: open to a little bit of phones.
- 22:45Speaker 2: 206-286-9595. If you want to comment live on the air
- 22:48Speaker 2: about the game last night, what you loved, What you're
- 22:51Speaker 2: still concerned about, Sam Darnold's interception in the end zone,
- 22:54Speaker 2: eighth interception in four and a half games. You know
- 22:56Speaker 2: what was great about that? It happened with seven seconds
- 22:58Speaker 2: left in the first half, so they didn't have time
- 23:00Speaker 2: to burn him. And you know why they didn't burn
- 23:02Speaker 2: him for points? Nicky Manwari. They had seven seconds left
- 23:06Speaker 2: just across midfield, and Reid tried to run a draw
- 23:09Speaker 2: play because he knew the Seahawks thought they were going
- 23:11Speaker 2: to throw. So he runs a draw play to Kenneth Walker,
- 23:13Speaker 2: and guess who ran down Kenneth Walker after just a
- 23:16Speaker 2: four-yard gain? Nick Emanuari.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Number three, dude. Is he like 333? How can he
- 23:21Speaker 3: be everywhere?
- 23:22Speaker 2: Exactly. And that play is what made it a 58-yard
- 23:25Speaker 2: field goal. That and Charles Cross forcing the tackle on
- 23:29Speaker 2: the interception return. It looked like for a moment it
- 23:30Speaker 2: might be a touchdown. Charles Cross forced that inside and
- 23:34Speaker 2: created the tackle. But Eamon Worre's stop on seven seconds
- 23:38Speaker 2: left in the first half is what made that field
- 23:41Speaker 2: goal 58 yards instead of 48. Man, like I said,
- 23:45Speaker 2: I could do the whole show on just Nick Eamon
- 23:46Speaker 2: Worre last night. Up next, we're going to go to
- 23:49Speaker 2: the defensive line and Byron Murphy. What did they do
- 23:52Speaker 2: to stop Kenneth Walker? They did exactly what Byron Murphy
- 23:55Speaker 2: said they had to do. That's next on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Now back to Countdown to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Brought to you by Frostbrood Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies.
- 24:25Speaker 1: On Sports Radio 93.3, AJR FM.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Welcome back. Happy Monday. Happy Monday in the Northwest for sure.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Seahawks off their most convincing win of the season. The
- 24:46Speaker 2: most complete win, I'm sure you could say, offensively and defensively.
- 24:51Speaker 2: The one turnover, yet another turnover, Sam Darnold's eighth interception,
- 24:54Speaker 2: four and a half games, coming with seven seconds left
- 24:57Speaker 2: in the half out of his own end zone, cost
- 24:59Speaker 2: him a touchdown or at least three points that they
- 25:01Speaker 2: had in the bag. But because it was seven seconds left,
- 25:04Speaker 2: it didn't hurt him. 58-yard field goal by the Chiefs short.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Yeah, like, does that even count on a stat sheet?
- 25:10Speaker 5: Right.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Fewest points in a Pat Mahomes start in the, what,
- 25:15Speaker 2: nine years he's been an NFL quarterback for the Chiefs.
- 25:18Speaker 5: And the fact that he never got in the red zone.
- 25:21Speaker 2: No.
- 25:21Speaker 3: That was my best stat that I took away.
- 25:23Speaker 2: From that game.
- 25:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 2: That's correct. First time the Chiefs, with Patrick Mahomes a quarterback,
- 25:28Speaker 2: had never reached the red zone inside the 20-yard line
- 25:31Speaker 2: in a game. And it all started, as we said
- 25:33Speaker 2: it had to, by stopping Kenneth Walker. All right, let's
- 25:37Speaker 2: put this to bed right away. I know a lot
- 25:39Speaker 2: of people out there are talking about, well, the camera
- 25:41Speaker 2: showed Walker just walking straight from the Chiefs sideline to
- 25:45Speaker 2: the locker room, didn't go out to the middle field,
- 25:47Speaker 2: didn't talk to the Seahawks. That is absolutely nothing going
- 25:50Speaker 2: on there because before the game, it was a love fest.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I saw him down on the field hugging dudes and
- 25:56Speaker 2: they were taking snapshots with him and people were taking
- 25:59Speaker 2: pictures of Walker with Seahawks, and he looked like Mayor
- 26:03Speaker 2: McCheese down there.
- 26:04Speaker 3: He's still a love in this town.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and they talked before the game about how much
- 26:08Speaker 2: they still love him in the locker room. Zach Charbonnet
- 26:12Speaker 2: told me last week, yeah, I talk to him all
- 26:14Speaker 2: the time. We're still best buds. That's my guy who
- 26:17Speaker 2: brought him here in Seattle. Charbonnet drafted a year after
- 26:20Speaker 2: the Seahawks drafted Ken Walker. By the way, Charbonnet did
- 26:25Speaker 2: not play in the game. Obviously, he was inactive and
- 26:28Speaker 2: did not play coming off the physically unable to perform
- 26:31Speaker 2: list that he's now active on the active roster from.
- 26:34Speaker 2: But the plan is they're going to try him to
- 26:38Speaker 2: play a week from tonight against Chicago. We'll see where
- 26:40Speaker 2: that goes. Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet could be coming
- 26:44Speaker 2: back to play against the Bears.
- 26:45Speaker 5: Remind everyone the snap count that you thought he would
- 26:48Speaker 5: get if he played last night.
- 26:51Speaker 2: 6-8 carries, maybe a dozen, not even, a dozen snaps.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:56Speaker 2: And I think that would be what it would be
- 26:58Speaker 2: for the Bears because they're going to ramp him up.
- 26:59Speaker 2: And I think He is on board with that, according
- 27:02Speaker 2: to what he said.
- 27:03Speaker 5: Well, what I really like about that is giving him
- 27:05Speaker 5: that extra week, especially how dominant they were last night.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Thank you, number three.
- 27:10Speaker 5: But what I like about it is that he'll be
- 27:15Speaker 5: ready to go and they're probably still going.
- 27:17Speaker 3: To ease him in.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:19Speaker 5: And I think that's the perfect progression because it's almost
- 27:23Speaker 5: like the ramp up. You know, can you win the
- 27:25Speaker 5: game in the first quarter situation? Now let's go for
- 27:28Speaker 5: the fourth or overtime. But last night, that was not necessary.
- 27:32Speaker 2: No, it wasn't. 10-0 first half, 13-3 in the third quarter, 20-3.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Final score, and it all started because of how the
- 27:39Speaker 2: Seahawks handled Kenneth Walker. He was averaging 133 yards rushing
- 27:42Speaker 2: per game, leading the NFL, coming in, and he had
- 27:46Speaker 2: just 36 yards on 14 carries. A non-factor. And before
- 27:51Speaker 2: the game, last week, Byron Murphy, the defensive tackle, said,
- 27:55Speaker 2: we need to put him in a phone booth. What
- 27:57Speaker 2: do you mean by that? Beating your guy on the
- 27:59Speaker 2: line of scrimmage and then collapsing the rush lanes in
- 28:01Speaker 2: the backfield before Walker has a chance to pick and
- 28:04Speaker 2: choose what they are. That's where Walker's at his best
- 28:06Speaker 2: when he has the patience to pick which lane he
- 28:08Speaker 2: wants to run through. Well, the Seahawks defensive line and
- 28:12Speaker 2: defensive front overwhelmed the Chiefs at times who were playing
- 28:14Speaker 2: without both their starting tackles who were injured. And Byron
- 28:18Speaker 2: Murphy talked last night about how what they needed to
- 28:21Speaker 2: do is exactly why they bottled up Kenneth Walker. Yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 2: you ain't got a thing. Like, when you see it,
- 28:26Speaker 2: it's like, okay, oh, you know what they in?
- 28:28Speaker 20: You know what they about to run?
- 28:29Speaker 2: It's like, now I'm just reacting. I'm just getting off.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I already know what I'm about to get. So, I
- 28:33Speaker 2: just got to play it and play it right.
- 28:35Speaker 21: Has it felt like you guys have been that way,
- 28:38Speaker 21: you know, especially these last two games?
- 28:41Speaker 4: I would say, yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 20: Like, you know, like I said earlier, like, this is
- 28:47Speaker 20: what we do, man.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Like.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I'm not shocked about how we perform.
- 28:51Speaker 20: This weekend, week out, we're going to continue to do it.
- 28:54Speaker 20: We're going to continue to improve our game as a
- 28:57Speaker 20: defense and as individuals. This is what we're doing. It's
- 29:00Speaker 20: the dark side.
- 29:01Speaker 2: We call ourselves the dark side for a reason. You
- 29:04Speaker 2: had said during the week, Byron and Renton, getting into
- 29:07Speaker 2: the backfield and taking away his walker's rush lane. Is
- 29:10Speaker 2: that really what happened tonight? Most definitely, man.
- 29:13Speaker 20: Just stopping him from having a cut back lane, Trying
- 29:18Speaker 20: to bounce up, like, just keeping them, you know, giving
- 29:21Speaker 20: them a wave, you know, to get into the perimeter
- 29:23Speaker 20: and stuff like that. Like, just trying to keep them
- 29:25Speaker 20: in the phone booth, like I said earlier in the week.
- 29:27Speaker 20: And that's exactly what we did. But it take 11
- 29:30Speaker 20: guys to do that. You know, so we dreaded not back.
- 29:33Speaker 20: And that's another thing, too. Like, guys just running, like,
- 29:36Speaker 20: running to the ball.
- 29:36Speaker 11: All 11 guys.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Like, you just see guys just flying around.
- 29:39Speaker 20: Uh just bringing high effort high energy so and you
- 29:42Speaker 20: need that especially when you're going to get some back
- 29:44Speaker 20: like that man like still shout out to k9 he
- 29:46Speaker 20: been killing it all season but you know um it's
- 29:50Speaker 20: a real defense man like we don't care who you
- 29:53Speaker 20: is you know we respect you and all that but
- 29:55Speaker 20: we don't care man we're gonna we're gonna.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Get out the Did he say anything? Was he frustrated
- 30:00Speaker 2: chatting with you? Did you get a chance to talk.
- 30:02Speaker 22: To him at all?
- 30:02Speaker 20: No, I was trying to let him know that we're here.
- 30:05Speaker 2: We're going to be here all day, all day long.
- 30:07Speaker 2: We ain't going to let up. We're here, man. We're
- 30:10Speaker 2: coming to play ball.
- 30:11Speaker 7: That's what I did.
- 30:12Speaker 2: You guys have been chasing this kind of a performance
- 30:14Speaker 2: against a top team since the Super Bowl, really. Is
- 30:17Speaker 2: it reassuring to know it's in you, the whole team,
- 30:19Speaker 2: complimentary football, all the things you guys have been talking about?
- 30:22Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 30:23Speaker 20: Like I said, it's a long season. We've just taken
- 30:26Speaker 20: it week by week. And that's really all I can say, man.
- 30:29Speaker 20: We're going to take it week by week. We're going
- 30:30Speaker 20: to continue to work on the things we need to
- 30:32Speaker 20: work on and get better, man. We're going to continue
- 30:35Speaker 20: to play these games. We're going to let everything work
- 30:38Speaker 20: out on its own.
- 30:39Speaker 2: This has to feel a little better than most, though, right?
- 30:42Speaker 2: It feels great, man, coming out.
- 30:44Speaker 20: Here on Sunday night in front of the home crowd
- 30:46Speaker 20: and get the win.
- 30:47Speaker 2: It's an undefeated team. It's a great team at that.
- 30:50Speaker 2: So it feels good, man. Thank you. Not rap music
- 30:56Speaker 2: last night in the locker room at that point.
- 30:58Speaker 5: I knew every word to that song, so I knew
- 31:01Speaker 5: that I did not need.
- 31:02Speaker 3: To edit that.
- 31:02Speaker 2: All right.
- 31:03Speaker 3: It was a little hard to hear over that music.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Putting him in a phone booth. Yeah, I like that.
- 31:07Speaker 2: By taking out the rush lanes, by beating your guy
- 31:10Speaker 2: into the backfield so that he had no rush lanes
- 31:13Speaker 2: to pick with. We don't care who you is, is
- 31:15Speaker 2: what Byron Murphy said. We're going to shut you down
- 31:18Speaker 2: no matter who you are. Of course, they said, we
- 31:21Speaker 2: respect Kenneth Walker. We love him in this locker room still.
- 31:23Speaker 2: We know he's a great back, but we don't care
- 31:25Speaker 2: who you are is basically what he was saying. And
- 31:28Speaker 2: the Seahawks still have not allowed a 100-yard rusher in
- 31:32Speaker 2: 36 now games and counting. That's October 2024. In the
- 31:37Speaker 2: first two months, Mike McDonald was the Seahawks coach in
- 31:40Speaker 2: a regular season, the first season of 2024. Buffalo's James
- 31:44Speaker 2: Cook is the last time two full years ago that
- 31:47Speaker 2: someone's run for 100 on the Seahawks. And Nicky Mallory
- 31:50Speaker 2: said it. He said, I did not want Walker to
- 31:53Speaker 2: go for 100. Did not. And he said a lot
- 31:55Speaker 2: of guys on the team didn't either. That was a factor.
- 31:58Speaker 2: They made that a goal, talked among themselves. McDonald downplayed it.
- 32:03Speaker 2: A lot of guys downplayed it. But no, he said, yeah,
- 32:05Speaker 2: we knew.
- 32:06Speaker 5: There's our players-only meetings that happen without us knowing about it.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Of course. And they talk on the sidelines. They talk
- 32:12Speaker 2: in meetings. They talk on the field, in the practice field.
- 32:14Speaker 2: They talk in the locker room. There's a lot that, yeah,
- 32:18Speaker 2: he ain't getting 100 on us was basically their mantra
- 32:21Speaker 2: to each other. And it happened again, 36 yards on
- 32:24Speaker 2: 14 carries for Kenneth Walker. After the game, Walker was
- 32:26Speaker 2: talking to the Kansas City writers, and they asked him,
- 32:30Speaker 2: why didn't you go out and shake hands with your
- 32:31Speaker 2: former teammates after the game? And he said, SH blank blank,
- 32:38Speaker 2: they just throttled us. I'm paraphrasing. They just shut us
- 32:41Speaker 2: down and dominated us. I didn't want to go over
- 32:44Speaker 2: there and They just beat us. Basically, I'm a competitor.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I was mad that they handed it to us. Think
- 32:50Speaker 2: about this, though, Jessamyn. If he does go walk over there,
- 32:53Speaker 2: it's going to be a love fest, and they're going
- 32:55Speaker 2: to be smiling and tapping each other in the back.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker, he doesn't want his Chiefs teammates to see
- 33:01Speaker 2: that after getting beat 20-3.
- 33:02Speaker 3: You were there. Did you see him do it before
- 33:04Speaker 3: the game?
- 33:05Speaker 7: I did.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I mentioned that.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Yes, exactly. So they already got that.
- 33:09Speaker 2: He was Mayor McCheese down on the field before the game.
- 33:11Speaker 17: Right.
- 33:11Speaker 3: And so that already happened.
- 33:13Speaker 5: I just don't think that there's a necessary post-game situation
- 33:17Speaker 5: and a loss.
- 33:18Speaker 2: No, but there were some, especially from Kansas City, who
- 33:20Speaker 2: were writing and reporting and talking about that last night.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Is that really a storyline, though?
- 33:25Speaker 2: Well, when you get handled 20-3, I guess you've got
- 33:28Speaker 2: to come up with something to write about.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fair.
- 33:30Speaker 2: But yeah, the optics of that for Walker would have
- 33:34Speaker 2: been poor. For him to go across the field and
- 33:36Speaker 2: be yucking it up with the Seahawks after getting beat 20-3,
- 33:39Speaker 2: he'd be getting criticized this morning about that in Missouri.
- 33:43Speaker 2: So instead... getting criticized for not coming over or at
- 33:46Speaker 2: least questioned.
- 33:46Speaker 5: I mean, aren't guys who are stars always getting criticized
- 33:49Speaker 5: for something? Oh, my eyelash fell on my face and
- 33:53Speaker 5: I didn't make a wish. I mean, there's literally anything
- 33:56Speaker 5: that you can do for people to criticize.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yes.
- 34:00Speaker 2: 49451, your biggest takeaway from last night. What you were
- 34:03Speaker 2: most impressed with the Seahawks' most complete game yet this season,
- 34:06Speaker 2: 20-3 over the Chiefs. And is it sustainable? I see
- 34:11Speaker 2: already in the text lines, I'm talking about Sam Darnold's
- 34:13Speaker 2: latest interception is eighth in five games and how that
- 34:16Speaker 2: will doom them eventually. And I still say if this
- 34:21Speaker 2: defense continues like it has been for now two seasons,
- 34:24Speaker 2: don't turn the ball over. They're going to win every game.
- 34:26Speaker 3: I just feel like Mike McDonald is like Starship Enterprise.
- 34:30Speaker 3: He is the captain. He is going to– is that
- 34:33Speaker 3: Star Trek or Star Wars? I just know the reference.
- 34:35Speaker 1: No.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Star Trek. You're right.
- 34:36Speaker 5: Okay.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I thought so.
- 34:37Speaker 5: Where he's the captain and he is doing everything exactly
- 34:41Speaker 5: how it should be going.
- 34:43Speaker 15: Yep.
- 34:43Speaker 5: Yep.
- 34:44Speaker 3: He is Captain Kirk. I'm going to call him that.
- 34:46Speaker 2: He might not like that. I don't know. They might
- 34:48Speaker 2: date him actually. He's only 39.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Well, yeah. I didn't exactly watch it. I just see
- 34:53Speaker 3: a lot of memes.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Were you too young for Star Trek?
- 34:56Speaker 3: It was around when I was growing up, but I didn't, yeah,
- 34:59Speaker 3: I didn't watch it.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a heyday in the 70s when I
- 35:01Speaker 2: was growing up.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I'm too young for that one.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't think so.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I think, I mean, it still existed.
- 35:07Speaker 11: Yes.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 35:10Speaker 2: 49451, what you thought and what you might be still
- 35:12Speaker 2: concerned about, the Seahawks win last night. The turnovers, yes,
- 35:16Speaker 2: but again, the defense playing like this lights out. I
- 35:20Speaker 2: think they can win every game if the They just
- 35:22Speaker 2: don't turn the ball around. And last night's turnover conveniently
- 35:24Speaker 2: came with seven seconds left in the first half. So
- 35:27Speaker 2: there was that, a silver lining. Up next, we're going
- 35:30Speaker 2: to go to the offensive line. Give them their flowers.
- 35:33Speaker 2: I thought Gray Zabel did not play to his standard
- 35:35Speaker 2: in Denver the game before, but he sure did last night.
- 35:38Speaker 2: So did the entire offensive line. I'll ask Gray Zabel
- 35:41Speaker 2: what changed. I asked him about the Denver game. He
- 35:44Speaker 2: didn't quite like my characterization of him in the Denver game.
- 35:46Speaker 2: You heard that in the locker room last night as well.
- 35:48Speaker 2: That's next. 11 o'clock, you'll hear from Coach Mike McDonough.
- 35:51Speaker 2: And we'll open up the phone lines if you want
- 35:52Speaker 2: to be having an opinion live, your voice on the air,
- 35:56Speaker 2: or the talkbacks if you want it taped. 206-286-9595 after
- 36:00Speaker 2: 11 o'clock. 1135 Factor Fiction, your chance to win $ 1, 000
- 36:04Speaker 2: from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. All that's coming
- 36:07Speaker 2: up on a day after the Seahawks win on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Now back to Countdown to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Brought to you by Frostbrood Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies.
- 36:27Speaker 1: On Sports Radio 93.3, KJR FM.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Welcome back.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Greg Bell, Justin McIntyre with you on a Monday. Here
- 36:44Speaker 2: in studio in the Elliott Bay Studios in Seattle. Rainy
- 36:48Speaker 2: morning is about the only thing that's gray around Seattle
- 36:51Speaker 2: and the Pacific Northwest today.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Except for Zabel.
- 36:56Speaker 5: Zabel.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Sorry, I had to.
- 37:00Speaker 2: So we have a Fact or Fiction winner from this
- 37:01Speaker 2: past week. Do we not?
- 37:03Speaker 3: Yes, we do. Wesley Geyer.
- 37:06Speaker 5: Thank you from Redmond. And the winning pick was Fact.
- 37:09Speaker 5: So I have to give Softie some roses on this
- 37:12Speaker 5: because it was his pick of UCF plus seven and
- 37:14Speaker 5: a half versus BYU on Friday.
- 37:17Speaker 3: And, oh boy, that was a game.
- 37:20Speaker 2: It was. It went to overtime. 39-32. BYU loses for
- 37:23Speaker 2: the first time this season.
- 37:24Speaker 3: They were ranked number two.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Were they really?
- 37:27Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 3: At least according to what I saw.
- 37:29Speaker 2: After having beaten Notre Dame at home the week before,
- 37:32Speaker 2: BYU goes down to Orlando and loses to Central Florida.
- 37:36Speaker 2: who's now in the Big 12, too. BYU and Central
- 37:39Speaker 2: Florida are in the Big 12, which is weird. But yeah.
- 37:42Speaker 3: It's all weird. I've just gotten over it.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Wesley Geyer from Fall City. Yeah, congratulations.
- 37:49Speaker 5: Yeah, Redmond, Fall City, and yeah, and thanks for listening.
- 37:54Speaker 5: Softie and Dick are now 12 and 21.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Oh, we want to mention these again? I'm going to
- 37:58Speaker 2: get in trouble.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Well, no, let's look at just the percentages.
- 38:03Speaker 5: You and Ashley are pretty close to each other, although
- 38:06Speaker 5: you do have a pretty good lead, but it.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Goes— Wait, wait, wait. Ashley's 7-6, and I'm 14-6. How
- 38:10Speaker 2: are we close?
- 38:11Speaker 3: I'm just saying percentage-wise, because she gets less picks.
- 38:14Speaker 2: That's 70% versus 53.
- 38:15Speaker 3: She gets less picks. You get more picks than she
- 38:18Speaker 3: does on Ian's show.
- 38:19Speaker 2: She's 53%. She's 7 wins and— I have as many losses
- 38:22Speaker 2: in 20 games as she does in 13.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Okay, that's why you're that much ahead of her.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Our show is 22 and 13. Chuck's The Morning Show
- 38:31Speaker 2: is 15 and 20.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Well, I was doing host standings. Host standings, Ashley, she.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Could creep up. Now I know why you put in
- 38:40Speaker 2: the disclaimer when I look at the host.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Well, there's show standings. Then there's host standings.
- 38:45Speaker 2: But now that I see the host standings, it all
- 38:47Speaker 2: makes sense to me. I don't know.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Chuck and I are batting 500 each, so I'm cool
- 38:52Speaker 3: with that.
- 38:52Speaker 4: All right.
- 38:54Speaker 2: It became crystal clear to me. Our discussion was about
- 38:57Speaker 2: 15 minutes.
- 38:58Speaker 5: It's just different between the show standings and the host
- 39:01Speaker 5: standings because Ashley only gets two picks a week.
- 39:05Speaker 3: And I only get two picks a week. So that's
- 39:07Speaker 3: why it's different.
- 39:08Speaker 16: Yes.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Okay. So we have a comfortable lead. The Greg Bell,
- 39:11Speaker 2: Jessamyn McIntyre tandem. 22 and 13.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Rest on our laurels here.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Still a long way to go.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:18Speaker 2: And we're a long way ahead. Those are two facts.
- 39:19Speaker 2: 22 and 13. We're nine games over 500. And Chuck Powell,
- 39:23Speaker 2: The Morning Show, five games under in second place. We
- 39:27Speaker 2: have a 14-game lead.
- 39:29Speaker 15: Okay.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Let's not.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Rest.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Let's make good decisions, Greg.
- 39:33Speaker 4: 11-35.
- 39:33Speaker 2: It's a seven-game lead.
- 39:34Speaker 13: 11-35.
- 39:35Speaker 2: 11-35 is the next pick. 11 o'clock, you'll hear from
- 39:37Speaker 2: Mike McDonald. And we're also going to open the phone lines.
- 39:41Speaker 2: We rarely do that. I'm always saying, people are always asking,
- 39:44Speaker 2: why don't you do the phone? We're going to do
- 39:45Speaker 2: it today.
- 39:45Speaker 4: 206-286-9595.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Just after 11 o'clock after we hear from Mike McDonald
- 39:51Speaker 2: for about 10 or 12 minutes from last night. The
- 39:54Speaker 2: offensive line last night, before last night's game, Sam Donald
- 39:58Speaker 2: had been sacked 10 times in the last five games.
- 40:00Speaker 2: He got hit 17 times by the Denver Broncos. So
- 40:05Speaker 2: I made it a point, since we all talked about
- 40:06Speaker 2: how bad the offensive line had been in Denver, to
- 40:08Speaker 2: go to Gray Zabel and said, what was the difference?
- 40:11Speaker 2: And this was Gray Zabel in the locker room last night.
- 40:14Speaker 2: What changed between Denver and and last night against Kansas City.
- 40:17Speaker 10: He's a warrior.
- 40:17Speaker 13: I mean, playing for the other 10 guys out there,
- 40:20Speaker 13: I'm not joking. I won't name names, but there was
- 40:24Speaker 13: a guy out there telling him to go down and
- 40:26Speaker 13: all this, and he just stayed in there and kept.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Playing until he couldn't.
- 40:30Speaker 12: So you have a guy like that, that's who you
- 40:33Speaker 12: want to play next to. He's a brother to me,
- 40:36Speaker 12: and he's one of those guys that he's going to
- 40:40Speaker 12: play until he can't.
- 40:41Speaker 5: So, yeah.
- 40:41Speaker 13: It was cool to see him tough it out for
- 40:45Speaker 13: the other 10 guys out there and.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Do what he does. Gary, you've been chasing a game
- 40:50Speaker 2: like this as a whole team. Complimentary football. Sam, no sacks,
- 40:54Speaker 2: only two hits allowed. What was different tonight, you think?
- 40:59Speaker 13: Yeah, I think we're just continuing to build and grow.
- 41:08Speaker 13: It's never a A result-based deal, it's a process, right?
- 41:13Speaker 13: We've got to stick to our process and just continue
- 41:15Speaker 13: to get better, right? And I think a guy like Sam,
- 41:19Speaker 13: who gives offensive line the utmost belief that he's going
- 41:23Speaker 13: to hang in there and be the guy that he is,
- 41:26Speaker 13: is just somebody that you want to just block until
- 41:29Speaker 13: you can't pour it.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Obviously, we've got some things to clean up. You don't
- 41:32Speaker 2: like hearing that your QB got hit, so.
- 41:36Speaker 11: coming on.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Monday and get better i'm gonna assume here that denver
- 41:39Speaker 2: wasn't your favorite performance yet as a seahawk what what
- 41:43Speaker 2: did you feel coming out of that game and what
- 41:45Speaker 2: were your goals for tonight.
- 41:48Speaker 13: Yeah i mean you know and denver right you're going
- 41:53Speaker 13: against one of the right um defense tackles in the
- 41:57Speaker 13: league and um It's one of those deals, I mean,
- 42:00Speaker 13: he gets paid too, and he gets paid a lot
- 42:02Speaker 13: of money to do that. Obviously, he's going to win,
- 42:08Speaker 13: but it's just the thing that you just want to
- 42:10Speaker 13: stay in front of him as long as you can
- 42:13Speaker 13: to give Sam a chance.
- 42:14Speaker 2: And opportunity to.
- 42:15Speaker 13: Move the ball down the field. It's cool to kind
- 42:20Speaker 13: of bounce back games, but at the end of the day,
- 42:22Speaker 13: I like it. The NFL is the NFL, and you've
- 42:26Speaker 13: got to bring your best every single week and continue
- 42:28Speaker 13: to improve and get better week after week.
- 42:31Speaker 2: It's just you've got to bounce back after that.
- 42:34Speaker 13: You've got to have a flushing mentality and go play
- 42:36Speaker 13: your best football the next week. It's just a continuous
- 42:40Speaker 13: process of getting better, learning, trying to be your best.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Is this the first time you guys as a team,
- 42:45Speaker 2: as an offense, felt like Super Bowl champions this season
- 42:48Speaker 2: like you did last season?
- 42:52Speaker 13: We aren't Super Bowl champions this year.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Last year was last year. We had a new team.
- 42:58Speaker 13: I don't like comparing last year to this year because
- 43:03Speaker 13: it's a completely different year. We feel like the Seahawks
- 43:09Speaker 13: right now because of what we do on offense, defense.
- 43:13Speaker 2: And special teams.
- 43:15Speaker 13: So last year was last year, this year is this year,
- 43:17Speaker 13: and we're just trying to be our best version of
- 43:20Speaker 13: ourselves week after week.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Great.
- 43:22Speaker 11: Well, thank you.
- 43:25Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 43:27Speaker 2: That was an unusual music collection in the postgame. I
- 43:30Speaker 2: didn't really notice it at the time.
- 43:32Speaker 5: I would say Gray may have had a hand in
- 43:34Speaker 5: that because– That was usually I'm looking for swear words
- 43:39Speaker 5: and things that I'm like, wait, I know all these songs.
- 43:42Speaker 3: No, I just I wonder.
- 43:45Speaker 5: Who has the aux cord in that situation.
- 43:48Speaker 2: That's true.
- 43:49Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Usually get to decide that. Right.
- 43:52Speaker 5: And so that's like a totally separate, super respectful reward
- 43:56Speaker 5: that you can get. So I'm wondering how they decide that.
- 43:59Speaker 5: Maybe we can find that out the next time you're
- 44:01Speaker 5: in the locker room.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Good radio producer fare there. You heard him say, we're
- 44:05Speaker 2: back to playing Seahawks football. And that's what Mike McDonald
- 44:08Speaker 2: said after the game, that that was Seahawks' brand of football.
- 44:11Speaker 2: And that's what they chose. That's what they said was
- 44:13Speaker 2: their intent. That's what they harped on all last week.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Run the ball. Stop the run. Suffocating defense. Changing looks.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Confusing on third down. Nicky Manwari all over the field.
- 44:25Speaker 2: That was Seahawks defense last night. 20-3 the result. Victory
- 44:29Speaker 2: of our previously unbeaten team. 4-9-4-5-1. What impressed you the
- 44:34Speaker 2: most last night of the Seahawks' victory? We'll read those
- 44:37Speaker 2: back at 11.30. 11.35, Factor Fiction. Your latest chance to
- 44:40Speaker 2: win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. And
- 44:42Speaker 2: up next, Mike McDonald. We haven't talked about his thoughts
- 44:45Speaker 2: on last night's game, what he had to say. And
- 44:47Speaker 2: we're going to open up the phone lines, give you
- 44:50Speaker 2: all a chance to be a part of the show.
- 44:52Speaker 2: You either can do it on a talkback, leave a
- 44:54Speaker 2: voicemail message 30 seconds or less on the iHeartRadio app
- 44:56Speaker 2: or our website, 933KGR. com. And Jessamyn will play those back
- 44:59Speaker 2: at 11.30.
- 44:59Speaker 18: Or.
- 45:01Speaker 2: After you hear from Mike McDonald next, you get a chance.
- 45:03Speaker 2: We'll open up the phone lines live, 206-286-9595. All that's
- 45:07Speaker 2: coming up on a Seahawks Victory Monday edition of the
- 45:10Speaker 2: Greg Bell Show on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Now, from the Star Reynolds Sports Desk, your 93.3 KJRFM
- 45:24Speaker 1: Sports Headlines.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Good morning. Thanks for joining us. Second hour of the
- 45:29Speaker 2: Greg Bell Show. Headlines are brought to you by Frostbrook
- 45:31Speaker 2: Coors Light. As cold as the Rockies, the Seahawks absolutely
- 45:35Speaker 2: dominated the previously unbeaten Chiefs last night. 20-3 at the
- 45:38Speaker 2: yard in Soto. Jackson Smith and Jigba. Nick Emanwari, the
- 45:42Speaker 2: two studs. Smith and Jigba, 150 more yards receiving. His
- 45:44Speaker 2: NFL leading eighth touchdown reception to go on top of
- 45:48Speaker 2: leading the league with more than 800 yards receiving through
- 45:52Speaker 2: seven games. Emanwari's wowing plays we've been talking about all
- 45:56Speaker 2: for the last Our Seahawks are now 4-3. The 49ers
- 45:59Speaker 2: lost for the first time this season. Upset loss at
- 46:02Speaker 2: Atlanta to the Falcons. So now two games back in
- 46:05Speaker 2: the loss column for the Seahawks. Ten games to play
- 46:08Speaker 2: in the NFC West. Seahawks, of course, play the 49ers
- 46:11Speaker 2: in Santa Clara next month in Thanksgiving weekend. But before that,
- 46:13Speaker 2: the Seahawks get the 5-2 Chicago Bears a week from tonight.
- 46:18Speaker 2: The Raiders lost for the fourth straight time. The Rams
- 46:20Speaker 2: crushed them in Las Vegas. The Cardinals lost at home
- 46:23Speaker 2: to Seattle. The Denver Broncos, so the NFC West stands
- 46:27Speaker 2: as this. 49ers are 6-1. The Seahawks are 4-3. The
- 46:31Speaker 2: Rams are 3-4. And the Cardinals are 2-5. This coming week,
- 46:33Speaker 2: the 49ers have their bye. The Seahawks host the Bears
- 46:36Speaker 2: Monday night. The Rams are hosting the Chargers, who are 0-6.
- 46:40Speaker 2: And the Cardinals are at the 2-4 Cowboys. Cowboys are
- 46:42Speaker 2: going to play their seventh game tonight at home against
- 46:44Speaker 2: the Philadelphia Eagles, who are also 2-4. Battle of struggling
- 46:48Speaker 2: teams on Monday Night Football, 5-15, right here live after
- 46:51Speaker 2: Dave Softy-Mahler and Dick Fain show from the Emerald Queen
- 46:53Speaker 2: Casino from until kickoff. Kraken lost 5-1 to Minnesota on
- 46:58Speaker 2: Saturday at home. They also lost Jared McCann for 10
- 47:01Speaker 2: weeks or more with a lower body injury. We'll talk
- 47:03Speaker 2: to Ian Furness when he comes in before his show
- 47:05Speaker 2: starts 12-3 about how big a loss that is to
- 47:08Speaker 2: lose McCann into the new year. Kraken are now 7-4-1.
- 47:11Speaker 2: They host Toronto Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena right here
- 47:14Speaker 2: on KJR. In college football, the Washington Huskies were off
- 47:18Speaker 2: this past weekend. They play at Nebraska 5 p.m. local
- 47:21Speaker 2: Halloween nighttime kickoff in Lincoln on Saturday. The Washington State
- 47:26Speaker 2: Huskies are playing at San Diego State after they lost
- 47:28Speaker 2: 31-10 at home to 21st-ranked Boise State. That was a
- 47:31Speaker 2: 10-10 game in Pullman into the fourth quarter before 21
- 47:35Speaker 2: straight points by the Broncos. The World Series, game three
- 47:38Speaker 2: tonight in Tampa Bay. Milwaukee won the first two in
- 47:41Speaker 2: Wisconsin to take a 2-0 series lead. That's been a
- 47:45Speaker 2: good World Series. Two really close games. It has been good.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Four-run deficit for the Brewers, no problem. They come back
- 47:51Speaker 2: and win.
- 47:51Speaker 5: I haven't looked at the viewership yet. Because it's smaller markets, technically.
- 47:56Speaker 5: And two teams that have not faced off in this
- 48:00Speaker 5: competition before.
- 48:02Speaker 3: But it has been actually good.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Rocco Baldelli apparently is not going to manage anybody next year.
- 48:09Speaker 2: He's pulled himself out of consideration for the Mariners manager
- 48:12Speaker 2: job that's still vacant.
- 48:14Speaker 5: If you were searching for a job, if you were
- 48:17Speaker 5: a manager or a bench coach or a position coach,
- 48:20Speaker 5: I know that Jerry DiPoto earlier this year said that
- 48:23Speaker 5: preferably they would have someone with managerial experience, but that's
- 48:28Speaker 5: not out of the question. They would get someone with none.
- 48:30Speaker 5: So let's say you're anyone. How desirable is that job?
- 48:34Speaker 2: Player-wise, it must be fantastic, right?
- 48:37Speaker 3: I would hope.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Pitching staff?
- 48:39Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, but we've been saying that for 15 years.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we have, but especially the last few. But yeah,
- 48:45Speaker 2: you would think, especially the young manager, go, okay, yeah.
- 48:48Speaker 2: If you're an old established manager, do you want to
- 48:51Speaker 2: play iPad baseball? That would probably be the hesitation.
- 48:53Speaker 5: I think that's where it comes from, yeah. I was
- 48:55Speaker 5: just wondering your opinion.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I think. Steven Vogt, by the way,
- 48:59Speaker 2: said he's not going anywhere. On Friday, he said he's
- 49:01Speaker 2: staying in Cleveland. He's won back-to-back division championships.
- 49:05Speaker 3: I wouldn't go.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Even though he has a home and family. His wife's
- 49:09Speaker 2: family is from Tumwater. They have a winter off-season home
- 49:11Speaker 2: in Tumwater.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought that might happen.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there were a lot of fans hoping Mariner fans
- 49:15Speaker 2: hoping that would change his mind. Seahawks last night. Brady Henderson,
- 49:20Speaker 2: my buddy, said that per ESPN research, the Seahawks are
- 49:22Speaker 2: the first team since the 1984 Cleveland Browns to hold
- 49:26Speaker 2: their first seven opponents under 180 yards passing. They're allowing
- 49:31Speaker 2: a league-low 3.9 yards per play, the Seahawks are. That's
- 49:35Speaker 2: the fewest through seven games by any team since the
- 49:38Speaker 2: 2019 Patriots. Yeah, last night, I don't think there's any
- 49:42Speaker 2: doubt last night was the first time the Seahawks played
- 49:44Speaker 2: a complete game on both sides of the ball. Played
- 49:46Speaker 2: exactly as they wanted to, and yes, Coach Mike McDonald
- 49:50Speaker 2: noticed that. You're going to hear from him now. Remember,
- 49:52Speaker 2: when we come back out of this, you can talk back.
- 49:54Speaker 2: It's 206-286-9595. We'll put you live on the air. This
- 49:58Speaker 2: was Mike McDonald after the game.
- 50:01Speaker 1: This is the Countdown to Monday Night Football with Greg Bell.
- 50:05Speaker 3: He's going to go into the open field.
- 50:08Speaker 1: As we count you down to tonight's game at 515.
- 50:10Speaker 1: He'll coast in for the touchdown. Brought to you by
- 50:15Speaker 1: Frostbrew Coors Light. Cold as the Rockies. On Sports Radio 93.3,
- 50:19Speaker 1: AJR FM.
- 50:24Speaker 2: My producer was trying to... tell me that first we're
- 50:27Speaker 2: going to do this and then we're going to go
- 50:28Speaker 2: to Mike McDonnell. So here is the coach last night
- 50:30Speaker 2: after a most satisfying win 20-3 over the Chiefs.
- 50:34Speaker 19: Man, really proud of our team. The message this week
- 50:37Speaker 19: really was like trying to double down on 12-1, trying
- 50:41Speaker 19: to stack plays, finding plays, you know, all three phases
- 50:44Speaker 19: picking each other up, which I think we really, the
- 50:48Speaker 19: guys did a great job of just kind of doubling
- 50:51Speaker 19: down on our core philosophy and it was a great environment.
- 50:55Speaker 19: So shout out to the 12s I'm just really proud
- 50:58Speaker 19: of our team to stand steadfast and in some adversity.
- 51:01Speaker 19: And that's what we do. We find solutions, we move
- 51:03Speaker 19: forward and have each other's backs. And it was great
- 51:06Speaker 19: to see that come to light today. So with that said,
- 51:09Speaker 19: I mean, there's so much more opportunity for us to improve,
- 51:15Speaker 19: which is exciting. It's still within our control, just some
- 51:18Speaker 19: procedure things, red zone. I mean, you guys know the things,
- 51:22Speaker 19: which is great. It's a great opportunity for us to
- 51:25Speaker 19: move forward and get better. But I'm really proud of
- 51:28Speaker 19: our team, just really proud of the attitude, people being
- 51:34Speaker 19: great teammates, having each other's.
- 51:35Speaker 10: Backs, pushing each other, and I think we got better.
- 51:38Speaker 19: So it's a great opportunity, but there's a sense of
- 51:43Speaker 19: urgency now to really take another step as a football team.
- 51:47Speaker 19: So it'll be fun next couple days, and we'll get
- 51:50Speaker 19: to work on Chicago.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Our guys played great, man. They're just a bunch of warriors.
- 51:56Speaker 11: We had some.
- 51:56Speaker 19: Guys that were banged up that played through some things
- 51:59Speaker 19: that went into the game. you watch really the effort
- 52:12Speaker 19: of our football team, but you know, really over the
- 52:13Speaker 19: last few weeks, the effort that they've played with the physicality, um,
- 52:17Speaker 19: you know, going into the short week plan, playing the
- 52:20Speaker 19: way they did against Denver and then coming back and, um,
- 52:24Speaker 19: putting themselves in position to play the way they did today.
- 52:26Speaker 19: I just, I mean, how do you, how do you
- 52:28Speaker 19: not just tip your cap to those guys? Um, so
- 52:31Speaker 19: we love, we love our group.
- 52:32Speaker 10: We have a great group.
- 52:34Speaker 19: And I think to a man, if you ask them,
- 52:35Speaker 19: you know, they're proud of the effort, but they also
- 52:37Speaker 19: know that maybe we could be better, you know? So,
- 52:39Speaker 19: It really starts when there's some things I put us
- 52:41Speaker 19: in a couple tough spots that they build me out
- 52:43Speaker 19: of today. So that was 12-1 right there, and that
- 52:45Speaker 19: was pretty cool.
- 52:47Speaker 2: When you say that they're great teammates, what were you
- 52:49Speaker 2: thinking about when you said that? Well, I just think.
- 52:54Speaker 19: All the conversation we had throughout the week of where
- 52:56Speaker 19: we wanted to get better. And really, everybody's just been
- 52:59Speaker 19: steadfast in having each other's backs, trusting the people in
- 53:02Speaker 19: the operation, and knowing that, you know, we're going to
- 53:05Speaker 19: take a step as a team. But you lose, you know,
- 53:06Speaker 19: I don't know, what was it, three or four or something?
- 53:10Speaker 19: You know, there's probably as much noise as they've heard
- 53:13Speaker 19: in a while. So, you know, but it didn't affect them.
- 53:18Speaker 19: It didn't really affect our operation, which, you know, as
- 53:21Speaker 19: a coach and just understanding their process and the spirit
- 53:24Speaker 19: of the team throughout the week, you're just really proud
- 53:26Speaker 19: of that.
- 53:27Speaker 10: Yeah, how about that?
- 53:30Speaker 19: It's pretty cool. Yeah, we didn't want to put the
- 53:38Speaker 19: ball in jeopardy there on the fourth down, so we
- 53:41Speaker 19: were going to go for it regardless, but inside a yard,
- 53:43Speaker 19: we felt like give it to A.J.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Yeah, third down has been.
- 53:47Speaker 20: A point of emphasis over the last few weeks, especially.
- 53:50Speaker 10: This week, and I think defense, I think they're good stats.
- 53:59Speaker 19: I think we can be better at something operationally and
- 54:02Speaker 19: how we're rushing. Offensively, I'm really proud of the process
- 54:06Speaker 19: that we've had. The guys went to work, and it
- 54:08Speaker 19: was a great team effort. Brian led the charge, and
- 54:12Speaker 19: I thought we came up with some really great ideas
- 54:14Speaker 19: and solutions. And then with Rasheed going down, being able
- 54:17Speaker 19: to kind of evolve and pivot and get to some
- 54:21Speaker 19: other answers as the game started to clear. So some
- 54:24Speaker 19: really good stuff by our offensive staff.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Those third downs weren't exactly short yardage either. Like there was.
- 54:29Speaker 11: Some long one.
- 54:30Speaker 19: Yeah. Well, that's one of the areas we can be
- 54:32Speaker 19: better as being more efficient, creating some shorter third downs,
- 54:35Speaker 19: but you know, that third down and medium to long
- 54:38Speaker 19: area is something we took a good hard look at
- 54:40Speaker 19: and I protected Sam. Well, I got the ball out
- 54:42Speaker 19: on time and some great after the catch plays. I mean,
- 54:45Speaker 19: we talk about, you know, eat as a football team,
- 54:48Speaker 19: but I mean, there's a great, I mean, there's great
- 54:49Speaker 19: examples all over the tape. I'm thinking of George Helani
- 54:52Speaker 19: on the sideline, AJ Barner on the sideline, Charles Cross
- 54:56Speaker 19: after the interception.
- 54:57Speaker 10: Every yard matters in that situation.
- 54:59Speaker 19: We needed it going into that field goal attempt to
- 55:01Speaker 19: get the guy to cut back so George could tackle him.
- 55:04Speaker 10: That's 12-1 football, man. It's just.
- 55:07Speaker 19: That's just really proud to see our guys play like that.
- 55:10Speaker 2: He's pretty good. How big was that to your game,
- 55:14Speaker 2: his speed alone? Well, I think as coaches, to me,
- 55:16Speaker 2: we bear the responsibility of.
- 55:36Speaker 19: Trying to have him and really our best players affect
- 55:38Speaker 19: the game the best we can without overloading him. And
- 55:41Speaker 19: so that's kind of a burden that we carry every
- 55:44Speaker 19: week of how can we best utilize his skill set
- 55:48Speaker 19: and get him ready to play while he's still the.
- 55:49Speaker 10: Best version of himself. It's something that we're always chasing.
- 55:52Speaker 19: But we've got several guys like that, like Murph, Leo,
- 55:55Speaker 19: our edge guys, Spoons, a guy like that. You're always
- 56:00Speaker 19: thinking through that lens. I mean, there's a lot of
- 56:01Speaker 19: guys you're thinking through that lens throughout every week.
- 56:03Speaker 4: Thanks, Adam.
- 56:05Speaker 13: Jackson obviously does this kind of thing every week.
- 56:08Speaker 11: You know how good the.
- 56:09Speaker 4: Defenses are in this league.
- 56:10Speaker 2: What does it say that he can be this consistent.
- 56:13Speaker 10: Week in and week out? I don't know. He's tremendous.
- 56:21Speaker 10: He's tremendous. I don't know how else to describe him,
- 56:22Speaker 10: but he's just... He's had some adversity this week.
- 56:27Speaker 19: I'm just really proud of him as a person. He's
- 56:30Speaker 19: just a Person, competitor, teammate. How do you not just
- 56:40Speaker 19: have the most respect for the guy and love him
- 56:42Speaker 19: for how he operates?
- 56:44Speaker 22: On the touchdown, do you see the way he's being
- 56:46Speaker 22: covered just saying right away, okay, it's going there, it's
- 56:49Speaker 22: going to be a good play?
- 56:51Speaker 19: I have pretty good confidence that if we're throwing him
- 56:53Speaker 19: the ball, he's going to come.
- 56:54Speaker 8: Down with it.
- 56:55Speaker 19: But when you see him singled like that, and based
- 56:58Speaker 19: off that play call, I knew that's where Sam was
- 57:00Speaker 19: going to go with the ball.
- 57:01Speaker 4: Mike, do you?
- 57:07Speaker 6: What was the plan?
- 57:13Speaker 19: We have to play in waves. He's still going to
- 57:17Speaker 19: break tackles. I'm sure he broke a host of tackles.
- 57:20Speaker 10: That's what he does.
- 57:22Speaker 19: We had to get people to the football. That gave
- 57:25Speaker 19: us the best chance. I felt the guys play like that.
- 57:28Speaker 19: I felt we played great team defense today.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Back to Jackson.
- 57:31Speaker 22: He's More than 200 yards, more than any other receiver
- 57:34Speaker 22: in the NFL right now. He's coming off Offensive Player
- 57:36Speaker 22: of the Year anyway. It's not like he's surprising anybody
- 57:38Speaker 22: out there to do what he's doing right now. It
- 57:40Speaker 22: seems pretty remarkable to do it, just how big he's
- 57:44Speaker 22: been for you guys throughout the first half of the
- 57:45Speaker 22: season here.
- 57:47Speaker 19: Yeah, he's... I'd love to brag on him more, but
- 57:55Speaker 19: he's tremendous. I think we felt the ball get distributed
- 57:59Speaker 19: a little.
- 57:59Speaker 10: Bit more today, which is great, but.
- 58:04Speaker 19: You'd be crazy not to try to make him the
- 58:06Speaker 19: primary on as many concepts as you can, or maybe
- 58:09Speaker 19: sometimes he's on the backside of a concept and we
- 58:11Speaker 19: can get to him. Yeah, let's keep it going.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Any updates on Charles Cross and Rashidi?
- 58:20Speaker 19: No, obviously we weren't able to finish the game. I
- 58:24Speaker 19: just don't have the information. Charles has got an ankle. Rashidi,
- 58:26Speaker 19: I think, is his knee.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Sam got hit only twice and no sacks tonight. I
- 58:32Speaker 2: guess what was the difference there both in him and
- 58:34Speaker 2: in him?
- 58:35Speaker 10: I thought we ran the ball more effectively.
- 58:37Speaker 19: There's some procedural things, especially early, that I felt like
- 58:40Speaker 19: we can attack and be cleaner on that front so
- 58:43Speaker 19: we can stay on the attack offensively, which I felt
- 58:47Speaker 19: that today. This was just cleaner football. I thought our
- 58:50Speaker 19: protection plan was great. Obviously the third down stuff, we
- 58:52Speaker 19: talked about that earlier, but definitely felt more like how
- 58:56Speaker 19: we want to play the game.
- 59:01Speaker 2: I think so.
- 59:02Speaker 19: I think so. I can't wait to watch the tape.
- 59:03Speaker 19: I know he got through the game well, so it's
- 59:06Speaker 19: great to have him back.
- 59:07Speaker 7: What do you think of Sam, the way he played,
- 59:08Speaker 7: just the way he handled it?
- 59:10Speaker 22: There's obviously a lot of conversation about his play in
- 59:12Speaker 22: the last few weeks.
- 59:13Speaker 19: Yeah, that's Sam. I mean, you guys know him as
- 59:16Speaker 19: good as anybody. Don't expect anything more or less from him.
- 59:21Speaker 19: He's just a ball player, man. I mean, that's what he.
- 59:27Speaker 5: Does.
- 59:28Speaker 10: He just keeps pushing through and.
- 59:32Speaker 10: Proud of the way he handled it.
- 59:33Speaker 19: Again, he's part of the solution on how we play,
- 59:36Speaker 19: so I'm proud of him.
- 59:38Speaker 10: He's done a great job.
- 59:38Speaker 2: You've been chasing a game like this, Mike.
- 59:41Speaker 11: Is it reassuring, or what's your thought of getting to
- 59:45Speaker 11: that point?
- 59:45Speaker 10: No, there's 10 more to go.
- 59:48Speaker 14: Yeah, sure.
- 59:48Speaker 10: It's a good point.
- 59:49Speaker 19: We're definitely chasing. I think this game shows us like
- 59:55Speaker 19: reminds the guys what we're capable of. And it's also,
- 59:58Speaker 19: it's also a, it's also, like I said earlier, I think,
- 1:00:02Speaker 19: I think our guys understand that there's more levels to
- 1:00:05Speaker 19: where we can go. And so I hope they feel
- 1:00:07Speaker 19: the sense of urgency that we can get there because
- 1:00:09Speaker 19: it is stuff that we can control. You know, I'm
- 1:00:11Speaker 19: talking about procedural stuff, red zone stuff, negative plays, how
- 1:00:15Speaker 19: we rush our red zone defense.
- 1:00:17Speaker 10: All the, all those things we've been attacking.
- 1:00:19Speaker 19: And, um, but of course, I mean, the guy's been
- 1:00:22Speaker 19: working so hard, you know, and so you want that
- 1:00:24Speaker 19: for him. You want them to feel what it feels
- 1:00:26Speaker 19: like to play our brand of ball again. And, and, uh,
- 1:00:29Speaker 19: and you want our fans to feel it too, you know,
- 1:00:31Speaker 19: like it's great for them. I think that they can
- 1:00:33Speaker 19: feel that, um, you know, we still have the, we
- 1:00:36Speaker 19: have the, you know, we're still a championship caliber team.
- 1:00:40Speaker 10: That's, that's what we're chasing.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Do you, the fan, feel that? Do you feel what
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Mike McDonald said, that they are still a championship caliber
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: team after last night's game? Did last night prove that
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: to you? Not only 49451 on Tacoma Dutch text line,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: let's open up the phone lines 206-286-9595. We don't always
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: do that in this station, so let's do it now.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: Yeah, we love your talkbacks, but let's talk about it live.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: 206-286-9595.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Your reaction to last night's Seahawks win, to me, the
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: first time they looked like defending Super Bowl champions on
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: both sides of the ball. As Mike McDonald said, rushing
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: for 150 yards set up the passing game, the pass protection.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: The Chiefs had to play them honestly, which what the
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Broncos and the 49ers did not the previous two games.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: They spat on the runs. Those two defenses did. Last night,
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Kansas City couldn't tee off on Sam Donald in the
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: pass game. And it was a concerted effort to get
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: the ball out quickly, for sure. Sam Darnold said last night,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: put the ball in play. That was his goal, meaning
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: not to hold on to the ball and then risk sacks,
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: getting hit, turnover. Put the ball in play to his guys.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: That might be his mantra for the rest of the season, Jessamyn.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Put the ball in play. When you've got Jackson Smith
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: and Jig with it, you can put it in play too. Yeah.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: But don't hold on to it so long. They were
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: throwing quickly. The touchdown down the sidelines was a three-step drop,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: but he knew before the play that this was what
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: he was going to go to. They went up in
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: press coverage, and man, Boom. We're going in this play.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Change it at the line. Donald didn't appreciate when I
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: asked Donald about Smith and Jigba saying that, yeah, that
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: was an audible. When he saw the coverage, Donald changed
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: it to that. And Donald was like, oh, he told
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: you that? Let's go live.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: We have Donnie and Everett.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Donnie and Everett is on live on KJR. Sir, what
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: did you think of last night's performance by the Seahawks?
- 1:02:33Speaker 8: I thought last night's performance was incredible. And I think
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: it definitely did solidify that we are still a championship
- 1:02:42Speaker 8: caliber team. I loved it. It was great. Other than
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: Sam's eighth interception, I thought it was quality. It was great.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: You said Sam Donald's interception. What concerned you besides that?
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Or are you convinced they're going to be all right?
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: They're on their way.
- 1:03:01Speaker 8: Well, they're going to be okay. I think this is
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: a turning point for them. It's definitely a statement game
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: for the rest.
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: Of the league.
- 1:03:08Speaker 8: But, I mean, regardless of the, you know, the interception
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: is still concerning.
- 1:03:13Speaker 16: You know what I mean?
- 1:03:14Speaker 8: We want to just, I would like to see them
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: eliminate those.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Donnie, thanks for calling. Take care out there in Everett.
- 1:03:24Speaker 11: All right. Thank you.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: And now we have Greg in Huntington Beach.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Oh, my man in Orange County, my buddy with 1G.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: What's up, Greg?
- 1:03:33Speaker 11: What's up? What's up, guys?
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: How are you doing? Am I on?
- 1:03:36Speaker 11: I kind of went out there for a second.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you're on the air. Hi, Greg. Long-time listener of
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: the show. Appreciate it.
- 1:03:43Speaker 11: And you guys, I just have to compliment you both.
- 1:03:45Speaker 11: You've transformed the 10 o'clock segment, in my opinion. I
- 1:03:49Speaker 11: think you two are absolutely wonderful together, so. Thank you
- 1:03:52Speaker 11: for all of you do. Thanks for having me on,
- 1:03:54Speaker 11: on the air.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Thank you, Greg. Appreciate it.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: I'm an easy blush.
- 1:04:03Speaker 11: I've got, I've got a specific idea on this. Yes.
- 1:04:06Speaker 11: I think they are championship caliber for sure. And I
- 1:04:09Speaker 11: kind of see the Seahawks defense a little bit the
- 1:04:12Speaker 11: same way. I see the Mariners starting, starting rotation, something
- 1:04:16Speaker 11: that should not be squandered.
- 1:04:18Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:04:19Speaker 11: And thankfully we didn't squander last year. We took us
- 1:04:21Speaker 11: to a championship. But just like the Mariners need a
- 1:04:24Speaker 11: right-handed bat, I think the weakness of the Seahawks, what
- 1:04:28Speaker 11: we've got to go get, is a running back. I
- 1:04:31Speaker 11: am not convinced that Price can stay healthy. We don't
- 1:04:35Speaker 11: have someone with the juice to run the scheme. I'm
- 1:04:39Speaker 11: curious as to what you guys think we ought to
- 1:04:41Speaker 11: do in that segment, and if you think that's the
- 1:04:44Speaker 11: missing piece.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Greg, I agree with you. I think they're shopping
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: for a running back, and I would be surprised if
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: John Schneider does not do that. I've got to ask you,
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: by the way, do you go to a place in
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Huntington that's a Seahawks place? Do you watch it at home?
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: My brother's there in Huntington. He's lived there for 40 years.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: I'm curious.
- 1:05:00Speaker 11: Absolutely. We've actually created a Seahawks bar down there. I
- 1:05:03Speaker 11: ran into a guy, an ex-player by the name of
- 1:05:06Speaker 11: Dave DeRocher. He played for the Seahawks in the late 80s.
- 1:05:10Speaker 11: And he was like, we got to create a bar.
- 1:05:12Speaker 11: So I used my connections and talked to my friends.
- 1:05:15Speaker 11: And there's this place called Bruno's in Huntington Beach. And
- 1:05:19Speaker 11: I could send pictures. Maybe I'll put them on. I
- 1:05:23Speaker 11: don't know how I get them to you, but. We
- 1:05:25Speaker 11: were there last night. It was blowing up. It is 100%
- 1:05:26Speaker 11: Seahawk bar. We just take it over. It's amazing.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Dang, it's really cool. Greg, thanks as always for listening,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: for texting in, for sharing. Any SoCal, Orange County Seahawk
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: fans can hit it up. Go up to Bruno's in
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Huntington Beach. Thanks, man.
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: Yeah. Love you guys. Thanks a lot.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Appreciate you. Thank you.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: All right, coming up next, we've got Arthur in West Seattle.
- 1:05:50Speaker 18: Howdy, folks.
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: Hi.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: What impressed you last night about the Seahawks?
- 1:05:56Speaker 17: Well, I was at the game, and I was sitting
- 1:05:58Speaker 17: in the visitor section.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Oh, were you wearing red?
- 1:06:02Speaker 17: I definitely know what the colors are before you go
- 1:06:04Speaker 17: to the game. But the fans were wearing their Letterman
- 1:06:09Speaker 17: jackets with their Super Bowl patches, and they were in
- 1:06:15Speaker 17: for a fight. It was an unusual experience, and after
- 1:06:22Speaker 17: K-9's one of his first runs, And he was clobbered.
- 1:06:26Speaker 17: I said, welcome back, canine. And the very well-fed, corn-fed
- 1:06:31Speaker 17: woman turned around and said, yeah, we love him. It's
- 1:06:34Speaker 17: going to be a great game. And she didn't turn
- 1:06:36Speaker 17: around for the rest of the game.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: She felled every one of those 36 yards probably by
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: the end of the night.
- 1:06:43Speaker 17: Oh, she sat down. And she got on national television
- 1:06:47Speaker 17: because her friends around her were showing pictures of her
- 1:06:51Speaker 17: being very glum.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Thanks, Arthur. It sounded like you had a great time
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: last night. Appreciate calling in.
- 1:06:57Speaker 17: Yeah, it was great. I lost my voice.
- 1:06:58Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: Well, you got it back. Appreciate it.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Thank you, Arthur.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll do that more. We should probably do it
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: after they lose, too. That might be entertaining.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Then I'll have to have the dump button ready, Greg.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Yes, you will.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: And that makes a lot of work for me.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: So Greg in Huntington Beach just tipped us off. If
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: you're listening from Orange County, the L.A. area, go to
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Bruno's in Huntington Beach. That's the Seahawks hangout, apparently.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's always fun to find those pockets.
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: I've accidentally wandered into here in Seattle, like an Eagles bar,
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: which was like, you know, the bar I'd lived across
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: the street from. So I would go there all the
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: time for lunch and stuff. And I went into Buckley's
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: one time. I looked around and I was like, oh,
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: this is not the crowd for me.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I got to go.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: I got to go right now.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Is Buckley's an Eagles bar?
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: I think they schedule nights because I've walked in there
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: when it was an Auburn bar.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Every flag is hanging up there.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: They're really good. And I think that they organize it.
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: But the one time I went, because there's two locations.
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: And I used to do a girls' night for wildcard
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: weekend where all of us, I mean, I guess it
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: was a day, not a night, but we would watch
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: the games together.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: And one girl went to the wrong one, too. And
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: I was like, no, you went to the Philly bar.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Oh, gosh. Oh, get out. Just eject.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Eject immediately.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's unmistakable, isn't it?
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: They're not far apart.
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: There's a Belltown one and there's one right around the
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: corner from us here in Lower Queen Anne. But they
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: do really good stuff over there when it comes to.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: just like being a sports bar. I wouldn't call it
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: any specific thing, though. But if you walk in and
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: all you see and hear is Fly Eagles fly, just
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: turn around.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: There might be a place tonight because the Eagles are
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: playing the Cowboys in a Monday night game.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: Unless you're a Philly fan, don't go.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Just don't go. Yeah, they're not exactly apologetic or.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: No, they're the best and worst fans at the same time.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Man, you want to get entertaining, go look online after
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: an Eagles loss to... especially a home loss when the
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Philadelphia local TV station. go and stick a microphone in
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: front of fans and leave in the stadium. It's hilarious.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: It's hysterical for sure.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: It's so awesome.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: But yeah, I feel like we are funny in our
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: own way. I just remember after the Superbowl win, um,
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: you know, when the Seahawks won in New York back
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: in 2014, it was a 2013 season, but they won
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: in 2014. And, uh, Watching people wait for the crosswalk sign.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: Everyone's so pumped, but they followed.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: The traffic rules. I'm like, oh, we're a pretty polite city,
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: aren't we?
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: I once covered a Mariners game that the Red Sox
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: after the game got cited for jaywalking by not waiting
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: for the crosswalk outside the stadium. That happened in Seattle.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: Oh, in Seattle.
- 1:09:39Speaker 15: Yes.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: No, we know what we're going to get tickets for. Yes.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Next, more chance to be a part of the show
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: if you're more shy and you want to do text
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: instead of live on the radio. 49451 at Tacoma Dodge Tech.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: I'm going to read back your text. There's plenty of
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: them from the Seahawks win last night. And also, your
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: chance to win $ 1, 000, the latest one, coming up at 11.35,
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Factor Fiction from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. Ian
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Furness will join me at 11.45 to tell us what
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: he's got on his show, 12 to 3. All that's
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: coming up on a Monday night. Eagles-Cowboys at 515 on
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: 93.3 KJRFM.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: Hey, Greg. What did I like about the game?
- 1:10:17Speaker 21: I liked the look on Mahomey's face. Ever since Brady retired,
- 1:10:24Speaker 21: Mahomes is the one that we love to hate. So
- 1:10:27Speaker 21: watching him look very discombobulated was very satisfying.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: There's a big word.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Discombobulated i i like that word but i mean i
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: had multiple opportunities but um anyway no i i do
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: appreciate um vocabulary.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he was flustered at times. He certainly was when
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Nicky Manwari ran him down from behind. He couldn't believe
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: he was being tackled as he threw that pass.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: He had no idea.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: No, he didn't. When he turned the corner, he didn't
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: see anybody out there.
- 1:11:08Speaker 11: So pretty.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Number three, man. Number one.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: He probably saw Eamon Warrie, an agap blitz, cross the
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: center all the way to the other opposite hash mark.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: How does he do it?
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: At 6'3, 220. That was an amazing. I don't know
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: if anybody else in the league. I put that on
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Twitter last night. I don't think anyone in the league
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: makes that play. Hey, you want to win $ 1, 000? This
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: is your chance right now. We're set to go. Glad
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: you're with us.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: It's your shot at our weekly $ 1, 000 and the $ 10, 000
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: grand prize.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: It's Fact or Fiction.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Proudly presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel, where every
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: day feels lucky. Fact or Fiction is on. Sports Radio
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: 93.3 KJR FM.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Back to college and back to a place that I
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: love to go, piling on the squids.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: You're going negative. It's a nasty Monday.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: It's a good thing for Navy that Rice is also
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: in the American conference because only Rice, only Rice, not
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: really known for their football, is below Navy in the conference.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: Don't hate on the fighting Luke Rilsons.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: The one and four squids, two and five overall, gave
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: up 49 points at home. This past weekend in North Texas,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: losing by 10. They've had troubles on defense all year,
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: and guess who they get this week? None other than
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Notre Dame. This is going to be a beatdown.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: You're just going to take pure joy in this, aren't you?
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Pure joy of Notre Dame Navy. They've played since the
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: beginning of time, and Navy has only won 13 times
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: in a 200-year history or whatever it is of this series.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: My concern is that Notre Dame's favored by 30.5 points.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: Notre Dame's favored by 30.5. Freeman is the kind of
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: coach that would throttle down, as he did against Army
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: in the Yankee Stadium a couple years ago when he
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: took a huge lead in the first half and just
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: throttled down. That's my one concern here.
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: But just based on the fact that Navy's had trouble
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: on defense all year, and they just gave up 49
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: points to the mean green, and now they've got the
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: fighting Irish? The over-under of this game is 55.5. That's
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: a lot of points. But I think Notre Dame is
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: going to score a lot of points against Navy.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: So you're going with the over.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: I'm going to go over 55.5. If you agree, text
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: FACT to 49451. If you want to win $ 1, 000, text
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: FACT to 49451. If you don't want to win $ 1, 000,
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: text FICTION to 49451. Just a little crib sheet reminder.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: We were 4-1 for the second consecutive week last week.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: We are the only one above 500 on the station.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: In fact, we are, what, nine games over 500 or
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: whatever it is. Nobody else is within five games of 500.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: I'm just going to do my job and keep going
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: one-on-one every week.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Steady. Steady wins. Navy-Notre Dame. It's a 9 a.m. kickoff time,
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: our time. Navy-Notre Dame. It's not how much. It's not
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: that Navy's going to lose. It's by how much, which
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: is always good for a West Pointer to know. Navy,
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Notre Dame, total points 55 and a half. I'm going
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: over because the Navy's huge problems on defense, giving up
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: 49 in North Texas. I'm a little concerned about Freeman
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: dialing it down for Notre Dame after they take a
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: 42-0 lead early. But give me the over.
- 1:14:21Speaker 11: 55 and a half.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: You agree, text FACTA49451. Disagree, text FICTION49451. You have about
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: 10 more minutes to do that.
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: The window is open, folks.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: We have a ton more on the talkback line.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: We do.
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: Let's get back to that because people are happy spicy today.
- 1:14:36Speaker 16: Hi, this is Daniel from Puyallup. Great game last night
- 1:14:40Speaker 16: by the Hawks. Got slightly worried after that darn old turnover,
- 1:14:45Speaker 16: but then I remembered we have the best defense in
- 1:14:48Speaker 16: the world. Also, shout out to Cougs beating the Huskies
- 1:14:52Speaker 16: in that scrimmage intermural game. Looks like Cougs got some
- 1:14:57Speaker 16: good players.
- 1:14:59Speaker 7: Have a great day.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: Bye-bye.
- 1:15:00Speaker 23: Last night's game was incredible to watch the defense, but
- 1:15:05Speaker 23: Seahawks fans have to ask this question. Is Sam Donald
- 1:15:11Speaker 23: the quarterback of the future for the Seahawks? I say, no,
- 1:15:16Speaker 23: he's not worth the extension that he's playing for. I
- 1:15:20Speaker 23: think we should draft a QB, build up this.
- 1:15:23Speaker 10: Defense and let Sam go.
- 1:15:26Speaker 23: I don't think he's that good of a QB.
- 1:15:29Speaker 20: Okay.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Got a question for you. Um, Not a native to Seattle,
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: but lived out there for several years and got bit
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: by the Seahawks bug.
- 1:15:37Speaker 7: Love the Seahawks.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: I'm out in Pennsylvania now. Listen to you guys all
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: the time.
- 1:15:41Speaker 14: So, do you think it would have been good for
- 1:15:44Speaker 14: them to put a guy.
- 1:15:45Speaker 22: In the end zone on that field goal attempt to
- 1:15:50Speaker 22: end the first half?
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: To maybe, perhaps, get a chance.
- 1:15:53Speaker 16: To run it back?
- 1:15:54Speaker 18: My voice is shot from last night, but I just
- 1:15:57Speaker 18: want to give a shout out to Mike McDonald and
- 1:15:59Speaker 18: the Seahawks.
- 1:16:00Speaker 14: The game plan was beautiful. How do you shut down
- 1:16:03Speaker 14: the number one offense? You play great defense and keep
- 1:16:06Speaker 14: the offense off the field.
- 1:16:08Speaker 18: They did that by extending plays, controlling the play clock,
- 1:16:11Speaker 18: and running the play clock down before they hiked.
- 1:16:13Speaker 14: It was beautiful. I also want to give a shout
- 1:16:17Speaker 14: out to Tyrese Knight.
- 1:16:18Speaker 18: That man came in, played big, and laid the hammer.
- 1:16:21Speaker 10: Go Hawks!
- 1:16:22Speaker 9: To be honest, I thought the Seahawks were going to
- 1:16:25Speaker 9: get killed last night by the Chiefs. And I really
- 1:16:29Speaker 9: didn't like seeing all the Kansas City fans all around
- 1:16:32Speaker 9: Seattle since Friday afternoon morning.
- 1:16:37Speaker 15: So what a victory.
- 1:16:38Speaker 16: Loved it.
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: Pumped. Yes, they feel like Super Bowl contenders again.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: One game can do that all for you.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: It's an interesting point about keeping somebody in the end
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: zone and returning the kickoff. Kicks that remain in the
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: field of play can be returned on field goals.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: We all remember that Alabama-Auburn game.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: And I actually thought about the Auburn-Alabama game last night,
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: that field goal return. Remember, it was Nick Saban had
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: all the big guys on the field. And so that guy,
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: when he returned the kick, was running against linemen. And
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: I thought that last night after the Sam Donald interception.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: When the Chiefs guy was running up the sidelines, I thought, uh-oh.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: I only see Charles Cross. I only see Anthony Bradford.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: Sam Donald wasn't too close on the sideline there. And
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: then Charles Cross made the play that brought him inside.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: I think it was George Helani who finally brought him down.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: That is an interesting point.
- 1:17:34Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't have thought about it.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that would have been like a 109-yard intercept. That
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: would have been an NFL record. He was the back
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: of the end zone when he picked that off. But
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: he went out to about just past midfield. And then
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: Nick Demon-Warry made the play that saved three points at
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: the end of the half by dropping Kenneth Walker on
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: a draw play that made that a 58-yard field goal.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: What do you think their conversation is like after a
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: play like that? Do you think they talk? Did you
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: see him join? You were there.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: Well, I didn't see him in that because they were
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: hustling off the field and calling timeout to get the
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: field goal unit on. But I asked Byron Murphy in
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: that clip we played earlier if he was talking to Walker.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: And he said, yeah. I was telling him, I ain't
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: going anywhere. I'm going to be here all night. And true,
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: I say, well, I know Walker probably didn't talk back.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: He's kind of a soft-spoken guy. He says, yeah, he
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: didn't say anything.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, he's not a jar. He's not a Devin
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: Witherspoon or anything like that.
- 1:18:25Speaker 17: Not at all.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: But, yeah, I like that, too.
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: And even if people see it and the cameras pick
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: it up and it looks like something's going on, I'm like,
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: how many siblings do you have and how many often fights.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: Did you have? Like, that is what happens. The opposite
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: of love is apathy, not hate. And so if you're
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: fighting with each other, it means you care.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: 715 says, I don't care about the interceptions. We play
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: this brand of ball. Yeah, but the interceptions, even with
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: this defense, can beat you. That's where I'd say. 253 asks,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: does last night's performance by the Hawks change John Schneider's
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: outlook on the running back situation? Do you think he'll
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: stand pat or still try to make a move before
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: the trade deadline, which is November 10th? I think they're
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: still trying to make a move. I'm pretty sure they're shopping.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: and they're seeing what it'll take. They're making calls. I
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: think they're going to get a veteran running back. I
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: think that trade's going to be made. They have 11
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: draft picks for next year. I think he's going to
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: use some of that capital to get a running back,
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: even with the 100-yard game from Emmanuel Wilson last night.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Up next, Ian Furness will tell us what he's got
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: on his show, asking about the Jared McCann injury and
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: how that's going to affect the Kraken going forward. Ian's
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: next on 93.3 KJRFM. Greg Bell, Justin Mackenzie. Sorry we
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: didn't get to all the calls. I mean, we got
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: lit up on the board.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: I think people are happy today. Maybe took a Monday off.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: I guess so. We'll do that again.
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: You had phone calls?
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: We did.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: We did. We opened up the phone line.
- 1:19:58Speaker 7: Jess was talking to people.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: It's my fatal flaw.
- 1:20:02Speaker 7: It is your fatal flaw.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: It welcomes people.
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: That's weird that people are, I say this with a
- 1:20:06Speaker 7: lot of respect, usually people only call when things are bad.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I was thinking that. That's what Jess was saying
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: about the 12th Man postgame show.
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I worked with Dick and Hugh last night, and
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: Dick was like, you know what? Don't worry about the
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: phones because they only call when it's bad.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: We got lit up this morning with calls. That's usually
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: the case.
- 1:20:26Speaker 7: It's negativity spurs the most emotion in sports, and there's nothing,
- 1:20:31Speaker 7: I don't think, anything to be negative about last night,
- 1:20:33Speaker 7: unless you're in Kansas City.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: Man. That's, of course, the voice of Ian Furness, show 12-3.
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: What impressed you the most last night?
- 1:20:41Speaker 7: I just, I mean, the defense, number three.
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:20:44Speaker 7: The defense, number three.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Number three. Yeah, he was incredible.
- 1:20:48Speaker 7: Byron Murphy's making money every time he steps on the field.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Yes, he is. Contract up next year. I don't know.
- 1:20:55Speaker 7: I was, I think we probably talked about this a
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: little bit last week, but I was pretty confident that
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: they would have a plan for Walker. The concern would
- 1:21:03Speaker 7: be number 15.
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:21:05Speaker 7: And, you know, I think that team has some fatal flaws.
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: Their wide receiver group is not good.
- 1:21:11Speaker 15: Right.
- 1:21:11Speaker 7: We can talk all we want about Seattle's lack of
- 1:21:12Speaker 7: depth at receiver, but you know, outside of, I mean,
- 1:21:16Speaker 7: really it's the two tight ends. It's gray and Kelsey,
- 1:21:18Speaker 7: maybe a little Watson tossed in and were these fast.
- 1:21:22Speaker 7: A lot of guys are fast in this league, I think. Yeah.
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: But yeah, I just, the defense was so impressive. That
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: was just, it was, it was a thing of beauty, right.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: To watch that thing and just, you know, and then
- 1:21:34Speaker 7: they ran the ball. Okay.
- 1:21:36Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: A hundred yard back last night, Emmanuel Wilson.
- 1:21:38Speaker 11: Crazy.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: Didn't think that was going to happen.
- 1:21:42Speaker 16: No.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: 21-yard touchdown run. Sauber took his guy from the left
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: edge across the center and just trashed him down.
- 1:21:47Speaker 7: And they survived a Sam Darnold mistake.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: A well-timed one, I guess, with seven seconds left in
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: the first half.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: God.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I thought that might be a 109-yard interception return.
- 1:21:56Speaker 7: I thought it would, too.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: I mean, you know what?
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: We were watching, and I was watching with my kid,
- 1:22:03Speaker 7: and he goes, look at this. We replayed it back.
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: He goes, every offensive lineman got involved. They weren't going
- 1:22:08Speaker 7: to catch him, but they the offensive line hustled their
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: ass off to allow him to be cut.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Mike McDonald credited Charles Cross with saving points there.
- 1:22:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:22:15Speaker 7: Oh, you look, there's like four of them that were there.
- 1:22:17Speaker 7: It was, I mean, they weren't going to get them,
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: but they at least mucked it up.
- 1:22:22Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: And thank goodness, because that, yeah, that would have been,
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: and if nothing else, they got them, they stopped them
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: short enough, and then the next play short enough to
- 1:22:29Speaker 7: not have.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: That was even worse again on the next play.
- 1:22:32Speaker 7: Yeah, because I'm on makeable field goal, because, you know,
- 1:22:34Speaker 7: you never know, that kind of gives you a little momentum,
- 1:22:36Speaker 7: even though you get the ball out of the half, but. Yeah,
- 1:22:40Speaker 7: that's one of the great things about sports, isn't it?
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: Because none of those, like we just, you could not
- 1:22:45Speaker 7: have written that script probably the way it turned out.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Not with the run game 100 yards back.
- 1:22:49Speaker 7: No.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Not with interception by Darnold still winning.
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: No, no.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Not hurting you.
- 1:22:53Speaker 7: I thought, you know, I mean, it's just, boy, when
- 1:22:56Speaker 7: he throws them, they're something, aren't they?
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: Talking about Darnold?
- 1:22:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Yeah, they tend to be something, don't they? Eight interceptions
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: the last five games. Is that sustainable to you? I mean,
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: that's obviously not going to work week in.
- 1:23:09Speaker 7: And week out. It just can't be. I mean, you're
- 1:23:13Speaker 7: putting so much pressure on your defense. Smith and Jigba
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: took blame for that by running the wrong route. He
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: said that he broke off his planned route and then
- 1:23:20Speaker 7: got into Horton's way, basically. Well, you've got a better
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: view than most from up there because you're looking to
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: the right.
- 1:23:26Speaker 17: To the right.
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: To the right. I mean, like when he let it fly,
- 1:23:29Speaker 7: was it like the second it left his hand, you're like, uh-oh?
- 1:23:31Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: We knew that was an interception. There were three chiefs
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: there because of two receivers in the area, and that's
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: why it got intercepted.
- 1:23:37Speaker 7: I just– the decision-making is just weird.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: That was one of the few times last night he
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: held the ball a long time.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: And it was because Smith and Jig was covered off
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: the line, which doesn't happen very often anymore.
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: Didn't he have somebody off to the left? I thought
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: he had somebody.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: Might have been Cup. Yes, he did. He did. Yes, yes.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: But– hey, you know what? You survived that. Your defense
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: bailed you out, and maybe there's hope that Price gets
- 1:24:05Speaker 7: back here soon, it sounds like.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: That's what Mike McDonald said on his coach's show.
- 1:24:08Speaker 7: Did you guys ever get anything out of the Charbonnet deal? Like, why?
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: They said it was part of the plan. No setback.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: This was part of the plan.
- 1:24:17Speaker 7: Let me ask you this. You've been doing this for
- 1:24:18Speaker 7: a while. We've all been sitting.
- 1:24:21Speaker 7: Their policy of not letting guys talk until they're ready
- 1:24:24Speaker 7: to play.
- 1:24:24Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: That....
- 1:24:26Speaker 7: He talked on Thursday. That, to me, is always the
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: green light.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:24:31Speaker 7: That's why it didn't pass the self-test.
- 1:24:33Speaker 17: Right?
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: You are 100% correct in all of that. I didn't
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: believe much of what I heard on Friday.
- 1:24:39Speaker 7: Well, hopefully there's no setback.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: Correct. They're planning on him to be able to at
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: least give it a go. I mean, he's on the
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: active roster now. Yeah.
- 1:24:47Speaker 7: So is Robert Henry Jr.
- 1:24:48Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: He must stink.
- 1:24:50Speaker 7: He must be awful.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: I mean, three games in a row on the active
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: roster and not playing.
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: Inactive.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: Inactive. A healthy scratch.
- 1:24:58Speaker 7: That's weird.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: You know, I was going to bring up one more
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: thing before you tell us about the show.
- 1:25:01Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: If you give Mike McDonald more than six days between games,
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: think about what the results are. The divisional playoff game
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: against San Francisco, the Super Bowl, and then this. They
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: had the... Oh, yeah.
- 1:25:13Speaker 7: Kind of a mini-buy.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:14Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Ten days between games this time.
- 1:25:16Speaker 14: Wow.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: He just will decide to... He will dissect your offense
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: and shut it down.
- 1:25:21Speaker 7: Well, if you're Caleb Williams, you've got extra days, too,
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: in Ben Johnson.
- 1:25:24Speaker 11: Yes.
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: But.
- 1:25:26Speaker 7: I mean, I'd be worried if I was those two guys.
- 1:25:30Speaker 7: Because with that defense, and they're just playing with an attitude,
- 1:25:33Speaker 7: which is just awesome. We had Jaron Reed in on Thursday, Wednesday,
- 1:25:36Speaker 7: whenever it was, Wednesday last week. And you could just
- 1:25:39Speaker 7: kind of see it. You could probably see it in
- 1:25:41Speaker 7: all those guys. I just talked about even Wednesday when
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: we were out there, how relaxed they were.
- 1:25:45Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:25:46Speaker 7: Confident.
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: Byron Murphy said, we don't care who you are. That's
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: what he said to me last night in the locker room.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: We don't care who you are.
- 1:25:53Speaker 7: There are some bad dudes out there.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: What do you got today?
- 1:25:56Speaker 7: Hugh Millen, hardcore football at one. Mike Sandoz, pick six
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: column at two. Weird weekend in the NFL. Fun game tonight.
- 1:26:05Speaker 7: The only undefeated team are the Vikings. We all had
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: that on the bingo card. So we'll get to all that.
- 1:26:10Speaker 7: And obviously your talkbacks. I don't know if we'll do
- 1:26:13Speaker 7: phone calls, but we'll do talkbacks.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Should we be worried about Jared McCann? 10 weeks minimum?
- 1:26:20Speaker 7: He hasn't done much this year.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:22Speaker 7: He's been a non-factor, so no. The easy answer is no.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Locker room, bench?
- 1:26:27Speaker 7: They'll be fine. They'll be fine.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Talk about a former penguin like that. I'm sorry. It's
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: up next, 12 to 3. Jess and McIntyre and I
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: thank you. We'll do it again tomorrow in studio again.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: The Seahawks are off tomorrow and Wednesday. They have a
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: Monday night schedule, so they don't practice again until Thursday.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: It ends up next on 93.3 KJR FM.
