- 0:00Speaker 1: No, no, no, The solution was regally. The rock gem is Lisa.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Oh please, how many sentences start with the word regally
- 0:09Speaker 2: this one.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Don't forgive me that.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's really Maggie Sherlock. You know, I have to point
- 0:18Speaker 1: out that this only makes sense if I get the
- 0:19Speaker 1: wrong answer. First, I said.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Hush, four finger discount. Dude.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to a four figure discount. With this
- 0:43Speaker 1: week you're going to be solving some mysteries, which you know,
- 0:45Speaker 1: I certainly love this guy over here certainly doesn't. It
- 0:47Speaker 1: is their review of God Maggie going, I'm Dando.
- 0:49Speaker 2: And I'm guy. Yes, what was my understanding? There will
- 0:51Speaker 2: be no puzzles. There are many puzzles in.
- 0:54Speaker 1: You don't like matts, matts or puzzles? Which do you prefer?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Equations or puzzles? Matts is a puzzle? Means are good?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Equations actually lead somewhere.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Equations you know, they can build size scraper or they
- 1:05Speaker 2: can send rockets to the moon or something like that.
- 1:07Speaker 1: And if you watch numbers, if there's there's numbers everywhere, well,
- 1:09Speaker 1: equations are everywhere. Did you ever did you finish numbers
- 1:11Speaker 1: on how you gave up up the Season three you
- 1:13Speaker 1: tapped out. Yeah, as we've discussed on our various shows
- 1:17Speaker 1: that you were doing four figure discount those shows, if
- 1:19Speaker 1: you binge them, you get very much over them quickly.
- 1:21Speaker 1: That is correct, And I think we might go back
- 1:23Speaker 1: to numbers, but it has to be we still haven't
- 1:25Speaker 1: try the technique it. We're going to do it, Niclo
- 1:27Speaker 1: and I where we get the shows that aren't bingeable,
- 1:30Speaker 1: the ones that we've made for once a week, like
- 1:32Speaker 1: House numbers, those kind of things. Right, Monk was another one,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Monk Monk, whatever you want to call it, and watching
- 1:37Speaker 1: the Monday night Monk, Tuesday night, this one and seeing
- 1:40Speaker 1: if it makes it more enjoyable.
- 1:41Speaker 2: One might say, the way we used to watch television,
- 1:45Speaker 2: thought they were made for. That makes a whole bunch
- 1:47Speaker 2: of sense, I've got to say. But yeah, you watch
- 1:49Speaker 2: say numbers too often and you might see the formula anyway.
- 1:53Speaker 2: But yeah, make the puzzle puzzles are kind of fun. Yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 2: they're an interesting diversion, Yes, but gone make you go on.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's got some puzzles in it. It's got some stuff
- 2:02Speaker 2: that I was not too mad on.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We will discuss that as this episode progresses. I was
- 2:06Speaker 1: a big fan of this because, as I said at
- 2:08Speaker 1: the start, I'm a big fan of puzzles and mysteries,
- 2:10Speaker 1: murder mysteries in particular, but I like these ones where
- 2:12Speaker 1: you just got to solve equations, solve puzzles on the
- 2:14Speaker 1: way to getting to the end game, which is why
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of the escape rooms that are
- 2:19Speaker 1: now booming everywhere around the world. People say Sore was
- 2:23Speaker 1: the reason that escape room's kicked off, and I thought, Nah,
- 2:26Speaker 1: I don't think so, because you're not trying to save
- 2:28Speaker 1: your life, You're just trying to solve a puzzle. I
- 2:29Speaker 1: think a lot of us you don't. You said you
- 2:32Speaker 1: don't like solving puzzles, but I've always thought that people
- 2:34Speaker 1: just like to solve things. Obviously, some.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It it requires a little more mental bandwidth that I wanted
- 2:42Speaker 2: to devote in my down time. Having said that, lou
- 2:45Speaker 2: and I went to this thing at Felix's school where
- 2:48Speaker 2: they had like a mystery thing.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It wasn't like an.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Escape room as such, but it's like we've set up
- 2:52Speaker 2: a mystery and here are various clues that will help
- 2:55Speaker 2: you solve it all the way through, and it's in
- 2:57Speaker 2: a bunch of stages.
- 2:58Speaker 1: It's everybody walking around the room the same time trying
- 3:00Speaker 1: to solve it, because I fucking hate it when we
- 3:02Speaker 1: got a bunch of parents sort of collaborating on shit.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly, I showed much more aptitude for it than
- 3:08Speaker 2: I thought I would.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I felt like Sherlock.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Holmes or or Elliott Stable, except it wasn't a heinous crime.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And I think that's why. Let's say the joke down
- 3:16Speaker 1: there in the anus. But that's why I think I
- 3:18Speaker 1: like those crime shows because they are very much this.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They are solving puzzles on the way to get to
- 3:24Speaker 1: the the what do you call them, the conclusion, the solution,
- 3:27Speaker 1: who's the person the perpetrator of the Yeah, yes, indeed,
- 3:30Speaker 1: this is obviously paying homage to a couple of things
- 3:32Speaker 1: that were very big around this time two thousands. National
- 3:36Speaker 1: Treasure two thousand and four was National Treasure. Treasure DaVinci
- 3:39Speaker 1: co Book two thousand and three fell two thousand and six,
- 3:41Speaker 1: a little late to the party of this episode, they
- 3:44Speaker 1: still felt somewhat relevant. I feel like because at the
- 3:46Speaker 1: time the da Vinci Code was massive. It was a phenomenon,
- 3:50Speaker 1: incredibly big, see to the point where my mum she
- 3:52Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily read too many books, and one of them
- 3:54Speaker 1: that there was never many books in the Downer household
- 3:56Speaker 1: growing up kids. Books, yes, but novels and no, no, no.
- 3:59Speaker 1: But my mum had a copy of the DaVinci Code.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I remember going, it must be big if mum's reading
- 4:03Speaker 1: this book as well. Everyone loved the DaVinci Code, and
- 4:05Speaker 1: it almost felt like at the time, if you didn't
- 4:07Speaker 1: live through it, it might be listeners out there who aren't
- 4:08Speaker 1: who weren't even alive when that book came out. In
- 4:11Speaker 1: the movie and whatnot. The movie not so much of
- 4:12Speaker 1: it as a huge success, but did all right, Everyone
- 4:15Speaker 1: went to see it because of the book success, right,
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I remember the book. If you hadn't read it, it
- 4:18Speaker 1: almost felt like you were just out of the loop.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It felt like you couldn't join in any conversation because
- 4:23Speaker 1: the fear of it being spoiled, like, well, I just
- 4:25Speaker 1: have to read this book just so it doesn't get
- 4:26Speaker 1: Because everyone was talking about the da Vinci Code, it
- 4:28Speaker 1: was certainly one of those things that's spilled over from
- 4:30Speaker 1: bookshops to regular shops. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 4:34Speaker 2: You'd see people picking it up add a big work
- 4:36Speaker 2: mart or even the supermarket, as opposed to going into
- 4:39Speaker 2: the mix. I guess that's the realm, sort of name
- 4:41Speaker 2: brand bookstore we have these days.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Airport's just stocked with them. Oh my goodness. Yes, yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: but before it was the subtle art of not giving
- 4:47Speaker 1: a fact. You had the DaVinci code everywhere. I love
- 4:51Speaker 1: name checking that because Dano the Pierce. Last time, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: haven't read it. Yeah yeah, yeah, no, it's a real thing.
- 4:56Speaker 1: It was worth reading apparently apparently so No, he's pretty good.
- 4:59Speaker 1: This Mark Benson go yea. He co wrote Will Smith's autobiography, Oh,
- 5:02Speaker 1: which you're also a big fan of the Brick by Brick.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I was a big fan of that part. Yes, that's
- 5:06Speaker 1: all over it up to the audiobook. Actually that's that's
- 5:10Speaker 1: the forward. It's like just to read. Okay, but yeah, gone,
- 5:17Speaker 1: Maggie Gone.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Full of puzzles. I imagine this is the reason you
- 5:19Speaker 2: enjoyed it. But you enjoy puzzles and mysteries and things
- 5:22Speaker 2: to be solved, it seems because you know you've introduced
- 5:26Speaker 2: a couple of little mysteries into your house.
- 5:28Speaker 1: We have indeed, yeah, they're called well, when we adopted them,
- 5:31Speaker 1: they were called Carmen and cheesel. It's a little ginger
- 5:35Speaker 1: kitten and a tabby kitten. You've seen them adorable, right,
- 5:38Speaker 1: adorable in the way the kittens are.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But kittens are adorable. These are ultra adorable because you've
- 5:43Speaker 2: got media pose. But also you've got another cat on
- 5:46Speaker 2: top of that.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so the the stray that's just living here now
- 5:49Speaker 1: we put I tried to pull a Harry in the
- 5:51Speaker 1: Henderson's last night. I was like, well, this cat, we
- 5:53Speaker 1: can't really keep her, like we love her, she wants
- 5:55Speaker 1: to We feel like she's always at the back door
- 5:57Speaker 1: of meowing. It's like does she wanted to get out?
- 5:59Speaker 1: So I took the collar off her. She had a
- 6:01Speaker 1: little bout we don't leave she when she looked to
- 6:08Speaker 1: be funny, they did to say, am I allowed to go?
- 6:10Speaker 1: And she sort of wandered around the back. He'd be
- 6:12Speaker 1: having a snif blah blah blah. I was like, go, well,
- 6:15Speaker 1: I didn't get the cap obviously. I just closed the
- 6:16Speaker 1: door and said and Ali looked at the wind. I said,
- 6:18Speaker 1: aliottn't look at the cat. Just let it wander off
- 6:20Speaker 1: and it's going to go back to its house. Just
- 6:21Speaker 1: let it be right. To quote my man's sting if
- 6:23Speaker 1: you love something, said it free exactly. Yeah. So I
- 6:26Speaker 1: was just like, just just go go be free. You
- 6:28Speaker 1: know you want to be out there, Just go go
- 6:29Speaker 1: go right, And that's just imagining you as boat with
- 6:36Speaker 1: his chicken. Go live your life free. And so about
- 6:44Speaker 1: an hour later, I've got the kittens in the house
- 6:46Speaker 1: and the kittens have to be separated because they got well.
- 6:48Speaker 1: As I now know, kitten flew right, they've got a cold.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So I just to spend some time taking to get there.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I dotted him yesterday. I'm already taken him back once.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I wanted a full refund, only got a seven day warranties,
- 6:59Speaker 1: so can I can get a fixed for free? But anyway,
- 7:01Speaker 1: so they had their antibiodox but about to be kicking.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Separated a because they are a new cat and b
- 7:05Speaker 1: because they're not well. Got the sniffles and whatnot. But
- 7:09Speaker 1: what was I going for bed now or later? We're
- 7:10Speaker 1: in the in the bathroom, that's where they're staying at
- 7:12Speaker 1: the moment, and we're just here from outside, and to
- 7:16Speaker 1: me it sounded like a cat was in pain. I thought,
- 7:20Speaker 1: oh no, the cat's going under the fence next door.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And there's a staffy next door and two little yet
- 7:26Speaker 1: like ye yappy terriers behind us, and I thought, oh god,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I've let the cat out and it's gone under the fence,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and so got there's a dog down. The dog's going.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I thought it was actually in pain, opened the door,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and within like zero point two of a second, it's
- 7:38Speaker 1: running back inside between my legs, just jumps on the
- 7:40Speaker 1: couch and looks at me. And I was like, well,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I guess you're living here too, then, So there you go.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You're not just a cat dad. One time over You've
- 7:46Speaker 2: got three cats in the house.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yeah. And Nikola got this collar. She won over, put
- 7:50Speaker 1: it basically put a neck up and said yes please
- 7:52Speaker 1: Nickels put the call in that on. So now she's
- 7:54Speaker 1: heer cat sound dumb man. Yeah. So the kittens, yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 1: so we got them yesterday. But originally they were going
- 7:59Speaker 1: to just adopt Carmen, who's a little tabby kitten, and
- 8:02Speaker 1: we went to pick her up they said come in.
- 8:03Speaker 1: We get there, they say you can't adopt her because
- 8:05Speaker 1: she's got sloppy poos and I was like fantastic. I said,
- 8:08Speaker 1: it's going to take five days to make sure she
- 8:09Speaker 1: got solid poo. But this is the reason I never
- 8:11Speaker 1: get adopted exactly. Yeah, no one ever wants you anyway.
- 8:13Speaker 1: So they isolate her and the three siblings from the
- 8:17Speaker 1: litter in the same cage, and eventually they're still a
- 8:20Speaker 1: bit sloppy, so they separate him into two. And though
- 8:23Speaker 1: two that she the other one she became sort of
- 8:25Speaker 1: really close with was a ginger cat named Cheesel. And
- 8:28Speaker 1: I went to pick up Carmen, I looked at him
- 8:30Speaker 1: and they just snug it up together. And I picked
- 8:32Speaker 1: up Carmen with Holly and Elliott, and this little ginga
- 8:35Speaker 1: cat looked up at me, is to say, but that's
- 8:37Speaker 1: my best friend. And I was like, Okay, get in
- 8:40Speaker 1: the car. We're adopting two. And it's good because they
- 8:44Speaker 1: comfort for each other, their brother and sister. They love
- 8:46Speaker 1: each other. And yes, and never got three cats. Went
- 8:48Speaker 1: from having nothing, never have a cat again, to three cats.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I remember not long ago, Rest in peace, Jet. Yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 1: you were very much like I think.
- 8:57Speaker 2: We're going to be a pet free house off for
- 8:59Speaker 2: a little while to enjoy my three days, my time,
- 9:02Speaker 2: my freedom, money base, a few days money.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Well, the fucking cat has arrived at the back door.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And I was like, Universe, what are you doing to me?
- 9:10Speaker 2: Universe is realizing that you're a good and dependable soul.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Someone can be a good cat dead.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And the thing is to cats, you can sort of
- 9:16Speaker 1: more independent. As you said, So like a dog, you
- 9:19Speaker 1: have to make sure, hey, make sure he's fed, taking
- 9:21Speaker 1: out for a shit, blah blah blah. Cat's like giddy
- 9:23Speaker 1: lit up, you're right for a day, Give me a box,
- 9:25Speaker 1: throwing me some food once in a while. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I look after myself. I actually watched the Big Cat
- 9:29Speaker 1: before we get into Go and make it gone, legitimately
- 9:32Speaker 1: hunt to fly today. So she sort of crash did
- 9:34Speaker 1: the crash down, and the bubb was sort of like
- 9:35Speaker 1: going and she's creep and I was like, I'm actually
- 9:37Speaker 1: watching like a like like like the Nature documentary is
- 9:40Speaker 1: like crawling the flights on the middler bitch. She stopped,
- 9:42Speaker 1: she could pull back, and she kept and she sort
- 9:44Speaker 1: of pounced. She looked around and a real under report.
- 9:47Speaker 1: She's put in her mouth on it. And I was like, Eh,
- 9:49Speaker 1: that's fucking crazy. Oh yeah, she hunted a fly.
- 9:52Speaker 2: This sounds ridiculous, but yeah, there were certainly times when
- 9:54Speaker 2: I've been sitting on the couch with Basing next to me,
- 9:55Speaker 2: and uh, you know there'll be a nature documentary on
- 9:58Speaker 2: and like a big cattle. That's you mate, Your DNA's
- 10:01Speaker 2: in there. Eh, yeah, she was just I was like
- 10:04Speaker 2: watching a lion hunt its prey.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It was crazy. Oh, it's fascinating.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, having a cat inside your house is yet not
- 10:08Speaker 2: unlike just having a great nature documentary twenty four seven.
- 10:11Speaker 1: It was pretty it was pretty cool to watch. Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 1: But and speaking of things that I enjoyed watching Go
- 10:15Speaker 1: and Make It Gone, I really enjoyed this. So I
- 10:17Speaker 1: thought this episode here was a really fun mystery in
- 10:21Speaker 1: that it paid trio to National Treasure and Dvichica, as
- 10:23Speaker 1: we said, two similar style of stories in the sense
- 10:26Speaker 1: of them being they need to have to solve a
- 10:27Speaker 1: bunch of clues and all the search for something. One
- 10:29Speaker 1: being for adults, which is the Da Vinci Code and
- 10:31Speaker 1: National Treasure adults can enjoy it, but that was more
- 10:33Speaker 1: targeted at kids, right, And this one here, I think
- 10:36Speaker 1: they did a fantastic job, the writers Billy Kimball and
- 10:38Speaker 1: Ian Maxtow and Graham, of combining the two to produce
- 10:42Speaker 1: a mystery that was crafted so well and that kids
- 10:44Speaker 1: could really have fun trying to seriously crack these codes
- 10:47Speaker 1: and crack these mysteries, right, and adults wouldn't feel like
- 10:50Speaker 1: their intelligence is being insulted either. They're very simple to solve,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but I don't think adults would go, oh god, it's
- 10:57Speaker 1: pretty obvious. Yeah, And I think as a family unit,
- 11:00Speaker 1: I would really enjoy watching this episode with Holly and Alliett.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Holly still a bit too young, but I think Alliot
- 11:04Speaker 1: would have fun trying to crack the code here. It
- 11:06Speaker 1: almost like we would be like, who shot mister Burns
- 11:08Speaker 1: kind of deal.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Okay, Well, when you explain it that way, I understand
- 11:12Speaker 2: a lot more about why you like it. I also
- 11:16Speaker 2: understand a little more why I was like watching it
- 11:18Speaker 2: in my solo household with a cat next to me.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Guard. All Right, yep, fine, I mean, as I said,
- 11:25Speaker 1: it's not really an episode problem. I think there were
- 11:27Speaker 1: problems with the episode, with the writing, with the direction,
- 11:31Speaker 1: a little bit with the direction, a little bit with
- 11:32Speaker 1: the writing. Mostly it's a me problem. It's just like, yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 1: this is just not my bag. I mean, I think
- 11:38Speaker 1: I have issue with the way the family and the
- 11:41Speaker 1: characters come across. See I based a lot of my
- 11:44Speaker 1: enjoyment of the episodes, I think modern day ones on
- 11:47Speaker 1: the use of Homer, right, and Marge was terrible in
- 11:49Speaker 1: the last one as well. They no Lonik, and I thought, sure, yeah,
- 11:51Speaker 1: all terrible people. I think in contrast to that, I
- 11:54Speaker 1: actually thought they were all written quite well. In this
- 11:57Speaker 1: Lisa in particular was handled quite well and that she
- 11:59Speaker 1: was obnoxious, but not enough where you disliked her, but
- 12:03Speaker 1: you also enjoyed the fact that she wasn't the golden
- 12:05Speaker 1: girl at the end because you're sort of all high
- 12:07Speaker 1: and mighty. I guess, yeah, I mean that's a I
- 12:09Speaker 1: guess a valuable lesson that you can take away from it.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I mean, dear, don't get too high on your own supply.
- 12:15Speaker 1: For you, she stayed on the on the right side obnoxious.
- 12:17Speaker 1: For me, she's tripped over into the bad side of
- 12:20Speaker 1: obnox I thought you were just a bit smug and
- 12:22Speaker 1: a bit self satisfied. Maybe that's the point, but I
- 12:25Speaker 1: would have had I would have preferred the come up
- 12:27Speaker 1: and at the end to be a little bit more. Yeah,
- 12:31Speaker 1: what I learned something today as opposed to know her
- 12:34Speaker 1: just being kind of.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Oh it's not me, okay, fine, Yeah, she's the right
- 12:39Speaker 2: character to be doing this kind of thing. If you're
- 12:42Speaker 2: going to have an episode where it's all we have
- 12:44Speaker 2: to solve a mystery, we have the puzzle to sort
- 12:46Speaker 2: of unravel or whatever. You're sure you want someone who's
- 12:49Speaker 2: smart doing that. I don't think you necessarily need someone
- 12:53Speaker 2: who's like, well, of course I knew this.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I found that just a little bit of a drag. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 1: just kind of smug and stuck up. Which is why
- 13:00Speaker 1: I thought the switch of Lisa being wrong was actually
- 13:02Speaker 1: well played, because I when she solved it, when she
- 13:05Speaker 1: said regally, I thought, that's a weird sentence. It seems
- 13:08Speaker 1: a bit forced. No, that was maybe by accident, but
- 13:12Speaker 1: her subconsciously solving in a way that would make her
- 13:15Speaker 1: the golden girl and Maggie, Like, does she actually know
- 13:18Speaker 1: Maggie was the one and she sort of changes so
- 13:19Speaker 1: she would make herself feel special or did she just
- 13:22Speaker 1: get it wrong?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm leaning towards she just got it wrong, but
- 13:27Speaker 2: her subconscious makes her change it so that she feels
- 13:30Speaker 2: like she's important, because that's it's understandable why because for
- 13:33Speaker 2: the most.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Part, her intelligence, intelligence and talents are sort of not
- 13:37Speaker 1: wasted away but sort of fobbed off amongst the chaos
- 13:40Speaker 1: of the family. They're not valued. Yeah, so she has
- 13:43Speaker 1: to sort of fight and scratching claw for every bit
- 13:45Speaker 1: of acknowledgment she can get, so she even her subconscious
- 13:47Speaker 1: is trying to go No, you area, that's a really
- 13:51Speaker 1: good point, and I hadn't. I hadn't viewed it that way.
- 13:53Speaker 1: So I'm glad that you brought it up, and I'm
- 13:54Speaker 1: glad you're helping me solve this puzzle. You mentioned the
- 13:58Speaker 1: directing before visual I actually thought this was probably the
- 14:02Speaker 1: best HD era episode we've had to date, in particular
- 14:05Speaker 1: just the the shot of the eclipse, when the moon
- 14:09Speaker 1: or the planets or sort of like lining up. It
- 14:11Speaker 1: looked almost like three D animation. And the exterior shots
- 14:15Speaker 1: as well, I thought were really great. The use of shadows.
- 14:17Speaker 1: The shadows are really standing out at the moment because
- 14:19Speaker 1: they didn't have shadows as much when they were hand drawn.
- 14:21Speaker 1: This one. It just looked really nice in particular shots,
- 14:24Speaker 1: and I really liked when Lisa was looking up at
- 14:26Speaker 1: the Springfield sign you can see the words written on it.
- 14:28Speaker 1: That looked cool as well.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's had a real sort of I guess
- 14:32Speaker 2: cinematic or even prestige TV sort of aspect to it,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and just yeah, that eclipse scene in particular, I thought
- 14:37Speaker 2: was really I don't think it's overstating this beautifully done.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I thought it was very very well directed. The visuals
- 14:43Speaker 1: were great. The visuals were you know, just sort of
- 14:46Speaker 1: an elegant is yeah, the word ide is. But the
- 14:49Speaker 1: music I thought was just beautiful as well.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I thought it was really well put together scene and
- 14:54Speaker 2: not something I was necessarily expecting from this episode or
- 14:57Speaker 2: from the Simpsons episode in general.
- 14:58Speaker 1: So the score and the writing were both nominated for
- 15:01Speaker 1: various awards as well, and critics love this one. This
- 15:04Speaker 1: was given a's across the board. This episode people really
- 15:06Speaker 1: really enjoyed. Maybe it was an episode that at the
- 15:09Speaker 1: time it felt more relevant and enjoyable because the Vinci
- 15:13Speaker 1: Code National Treasure was still in the front of people's
- 15:14Speaker 1: minds to an extent. I'm not too sure. Quite possibly
- 15:17Speaker 1: were maybe all the Vinci code pilled around that time,
- 15:19Speaker 1: but I just think the over what, I don't have
- 15:22Speaker 1: any memory of watching this movie, so I'm watching this
- 15:23Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five with a fresh mind, and I
- 15:25Speaker 1: just think it was structured really well. I really enjoyed it.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I like the fact that the first act actually played
- 15:29Speaker 1: into the overall story without you actually realizing, and the
- 15:32Speaker 1: total eclipse, because how often are they guilty in recent
- 15:35Speaker 1: times of just having a story and going this is
- 15:38Speaker 1: this is entertaining, but not enough for a full episode.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Let's just cram it in here. And it feels so
- 15:42Speaker 1: for you get to the end of the first act
- 15:43Speaker 1: and you go, oh, so now the episode starting right
- 15:46Speaker 1: And I used to do that in the Golden Ear
- 15:47Speaker 1: as well, but this one here you could very much
- 15:50Speaker 1: say the total that the eclipse part was just its
- 15:52Speaker 1: own story, but no, that actually plays into the overall one,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and you don't realize that till about two thirds of
- 15:55Speaker 1: the way in as well, so everything follows it. Well, yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 1: that's a good point, and that sets up the b
- 15:59Speaker 1: plot of Marge not being able to see, which wasn't
- 16:02Speaker 1: particularly focused on all that much, as they'd sometimes go
- 16:05Speaker 1: back to it. But why do you think they needed
- 16:08Speaker 1: to have Marge not be able to see? Is that
- 16:11Speaker 1: something from one of the films that I'm missing.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Not that I'm aware of. I mean, I don't recall
- 16:15Speaker 2: that being a national treasure and I.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Don't think it's in the Da Vinci code at all.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure there's no sort of blind characters or
- 16:21Speaker 1: anything like that. I suppose you got the payoff at
- 16:23Speaker 1: the end where she takes the blindfold off at least sorry,
- 16:27Speaker 1: Maggie takes the blindfold off Marge. And you know, it's
- 16:30Speaker 1: a nice sort of not reveal, that's not the right term,
- 16:33Speaker 1: but reunion. Yeah, I guess most of some of it
- 16:36Speaker 1: well peaced or you know, you're the most beautiful thing
- 16:37Speaker 1: I've ever seen, or something along those lines. We will
- 16:39Speaker 1: get to it. But I thought was really really nice ending.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I think if you stick the lending, the ending was
- 16:42Speaker 1: a bit far fetched, which I've got my notes here,
- 16:44Speaker 1: But before the Bart bit, I thought the ending was
- 16:47Speaker 1: quite really well put together in my opinion. But getting
- 16:50Speaker 1: back to the visual, so, I just think I was
- 16:54Speaker 1: excited when they became HD. I remember at the time,
- 16:57Speaker 1: and now as I get older, I go, oh, you know,
- 16:59Speaker 1: nothing beats the originals. If I take my bias away,
- 17:03Speaker 1: the show feels fresh watching it in HD, right, it does.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You watch these episodes in twenty twenty five and compare
- 17:10Speaker 1: them to the episodes from the nineties. And nearly two thousands.
- 17:13Speaker 1: It's a stark difference. And if you could say, you
- 17:15Speaker 1: can honestly say this to anybody, this is last week's episode,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and you could believe it. Oh yeah, you certainly think that. Yeah, no,
- 17:22Speaker 1: they look an airy Chris In an HD world, these
- 17:25Speaker 1: episodes feel better. They're much easier on the eye than
- 17:30Speaker 1: the originals. I will always love the originals. They will
- 17:32Speaker 1: always be my favorite. But I've said this before on
- 17:34Speaker 1: the podcast. If I'm a six year old kid right now,
- 17:37Speaker 1: I'm watching the HD episode, of.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Course, I well, because you're a child of twenty twenty five, Yeah,
- 17:41Speaker 2: you're going to be enjoying What's.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I'm not watching four to three, I'm watching sixteen nine?
- 17:45Speaker 1: You are? You are? And look, even going back to
- 17:48Speaker 1: gold and Ero Simpsons or Vintagero Simpsons or whatever, I mean,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I don't think any of us were saying, oh, we're
- 17:55Speaker 1: loving the animation here or something like that. I mean,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I think we're really more there for the gags, for
- 18:00Speaker 1: the writing and the performances more than the visuals. Even
- 18:04Speaker 1: though the visuals were up and pretty well done in
- 18:07Speaker 1: terms of like angles and all that kind of business
- 18:09Speaker 1: or shot composition or whatever. But it also, yeah, it
- 18:12Speaker 1: looked like this isn't top notch animation, especially like season
- 18:15Speaker 1: two three onwards. I think season seven eight was when
- 18:18Speaker 1: it was at it's best. For me. It's when I
- 18:19Speaker 1: visually I like the Simpsons the best, when it was
- 18:21Speaker 1: like season seven eight ish. But I do also think
- 18:23Speaker 1: people just have a nostalgia for the show just being
- 18:26Speaker 1: hand drawn the way it was drawn, not how it looks,
- 18:29Speaker 1: just the way it was made as well. Well, it
- 18:31Speaker 1: looks a little more handmade, doesn't it all. Yeah, and
- 18:33Speaker 1: it has that charm to it. Yeah, where that does
- 18:36Speaker 1: it loses that element in the HD era, But you
- 18:38Speaker 1: can't deny that the show looks great. And what you're
- 18:41Speaker 1: going from the mid season twenty episode at the old
- 18:44Speaker 1: school version to now you go, oh, this just feels new.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Oh it feels like a real turn of the doar,
- 18:48Speaker 1: doesn't it. Yeah? Yeah, I was just just just the
- 18:51Speaker 1: shadows for me. Honest, I remember when it first came out.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I went, oh, this looks I don't know if I like,
- 18:55Speaker 1: this looks too different? Twenty years was the twentyear only one?
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's two thousand and nine, what's that? Yeah? Whatever, Yeah,
- 19:02Speaker 1: it feels right now it does. Yeah. Also, mister Burns
- 19:06Speaker 1: in this episode, he comes in at the end. Right,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I prefer this version of Burns. People should fear Burns.
- 19:12Speaker 1: He should be a criminal, he should be a terrifying man. Right.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Seeing him making two people dig their own grades whilst
- 19:19Speaker 1: holding him at gunpoint felt right.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I think I prefer him when he's wielding
- 19:26Speaker 2: power as opposed to being pathetic. It's very rare it
- 19:32Speaker 2: seems that the show can combine those two. Well, he's
- 19:36Speaker 2: someone who's old and decrepit and kind of passed it,
- 19:39Speaker 2: but also potent enough to be dangerous or a threat. Yeah,
- 19:43Speaker 2: and you're right, this episode kind of felt more like, no,
- 19:46Speaker 2: the ons still got some juice in it, and he
- 19:49Speaker 2: still wants to wheeld that power to some degree.
- 19:52Speaker 1: So at Smithers, he should always be that lucky who's
- 19:55Speaker 1: questioning mister Burns, but still a guest master. That's the best.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Smithers to me, he is the guy that you know
- 20:01Speaker 1: he doesn't quite agree, but he just he just has
- 20:03Speaker 1: to follow him.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Well yeah, partly out of hero worship, partly out of love, yeah,
- 20:08Speaker 2: and partly out of fear as well. Yeah, it's a
- 20:10Speaker 2: really complicated relationship, and yeah, the Simpson's out its.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Best when it does that, when it has those all
- 20:16Speaker 1: those elements working concert. You're right. It is official. We
- 20:21Speaker 1: have finally launched Bob's Pods, a Bob's Burger's podcast, reviewing
- 20:25Speaker 1: every episode of the series exclusively on our Patreon. We

- 20:32Speaker 1: else that goes into making Bob's Burgers one of the
- 20:35Speaker 1: most loved animated series today. So if you want to

- 20:40Speaker 1: join the four Finger Discat family today at patreon dot
- 20:43Speaker 1: com slash four fingerre Discat he my favorite What were
- 20:49Speaker 1: your favorite moments from the episode?
- 20:51Speaker 2: I had a few I mentioned, Yeah, rather sweet music
- 20:54Speaker 2: for the eclipse is something.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I enjoyed that very much. I don't know if
- 20:58Speaker 1: this is a favorite mom because actually found this kind
- 21:00Speaker 1: of sad. But you know, they've all got their little
- 21:03Speaker 1: camera obscura devices to watch the eclipse, the whole Simpsons
- 21:06Speaker 1: family and cause Homer foxes up Marge handing hers over.
- 21:11Speaker 1: It was just a little pause there.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It's kind of like, oh, well, you know, you can
- 21:14Speaker 2: have mine and I'm a people pleaser. I would be
- 21:17Speaker 2: the kind of person who would do that.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I mean, that's the kind of thing a parent will
- 21:19Speaker 1: have to do as well.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Well, yeah, yeah, I'm watching eclips and you busted yours.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I be like, Dad, I go ahead, look at it.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I trust that you wouldn't have a look at the
- 21:28Speaker 1: eclipse for a second and then hand it back to
- 21:31Speaker 1: ded to me. Well, that's correct. I like that moment.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I sort of recognized myself in it and recognized people
- 21:39Speaker 2: that I love in it. Didn't like it so much
- 21:41Speaker 2: when everyone's like, oh, this is the greatest bonding experience
- 21:43Speaker 2: we had as a family.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Is like, this is more jerk out nonsense. But I
- 21:46Speaker 1: did like that. I mean that that was just also
- 21:49Speaker 1: just to set the fact that Marge really wants to
- 21:50Speaker 1: have to see and that's what where she's willing to
- 21:52Speaker 1: risk losing her eyesight. That's true, that's true. I mean, yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it's it's necessary to move the plot forward. When Lisa
- 22:00Speaker 1: to the convent and I don't think one of the
- 22:03Speaker 1: nuts calls are doubting Thomas and Lisa says she's more
- 22:05Speaker 1: of a curious George. I don't know, I gotta tickle
- 22:07Speaker 1: out of it. There's more to that joke as well.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Have you ever seen Curious George Wells? His handler is
- 22:13Speaker 1: the man in the yellow hat. Yeah. I thought that
- 22:16Speaker 1: scene in particular. I've written in my notes that the
- 22:18Speaker 1: games were coming through thick and fast, particularly in those moments,
- 22:21Speaker 1: to the point where a lot of these jokes kids
- 22:22Speaker 1: probably wouldn't haven enjoy. But as if you understand the
- 22:26Speaker 1: source material, you're just like, this is just joke. Joe joke,
- 22:28Speaker 1: Joe joke. It would necessarily be knocking to out of
- 22:30Speaker 1: the park. But they at least attempting jokes. Yeah, And
- 22:32Speaker 1: they at least attempting joke density. Yeah, why they used to.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I'm always curious.
- 22:37Speaker 2: When people have crushes or fixations on animated characters, particularly
- 22:42Speaker 2: sort of romantic or sexual ones. Now, having said that,
- 22:44Speaker 2: Sister Marilyn at the convent while we were oh damn
- 22:48Speaker 2: and reminds me of probably my favorite thing. I've always
- 22:52Speaker 2: used this kind of thing as a gift or a
- 22:55Speaker 2: response meme or something. Anytime someone is so hot, I
- 23:00Speaker 2: use a text Avery Wolf. Not everyone is familiar with
- 23:03Speaker 2: texts Avery the animator, but maybe Texas, one of his
- 23:08Speaker 2: signature characters, at least is the wolf who is just
- 23:11Speaker 2: horny man.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You grew up in the nineties. It's what the mask
- 23:14Speaker 1: rips off very much so.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But the eyes go a ruga and anytime he sees
- 23:18Speaker 2: a hot redhead, essentially any sort of bangs himself over there.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I love that.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Anytime you know, someone on Twitter puts up a picture
- 23:28Speaker 2: of say Monica Bluchi or something, I tend to either
- 23:30Speaker 2: put up text Avery Wolf. There's a frame from a
- 23:35Speaker 2: Gumby where Gummy's in there going ziggity like the kids
- 23:41Speaker 2: say or used to it me.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's that's a franchise that needs to make a come
- 23:45Speaker 1: back at some point. Reckon. So I loved Gumby. Is
- 23:47Speaker 1: a gummy veg is a Gumby, So any change. Wow,
- 23:54Speaker 1: the soft and sexy sounds of Dando. You did a
- 23:57Speaker 1: little wiggle there. I don't have been called that on video.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It's really good. But to give a shout out to
- 24:03Speaker 1: the text Avery Wolf. The way they did a lot
- 24:06Speaker 1: of references in this episode, that would just quick gagys right,
- 24:10Speaker 1: and I just appreciated it.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not saying this is in the neighborhood of
- 24:14Speaker 2: Classic Simptons or anything like that, but it would certainly
- 24:18Speaker 2: if not in the ballpark. Say those are major league
- 24:20Speaker 2: This is like minor league baseball, yes, or a good
- 24:23Speaker 2: high school team.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Now, I really enjoyed a few lines here, So Marge saying, oh,
- 24:28Speaker 1: it's been great. Every day's been like the first ten
- 24:30Speaker 1: minutes of Mother's Day. That's pretty much how it goes.
- 24:33Speaker 1: You get breakfast in bed and then its lips onto
- 24:34Speaker 1: the usual shenanigans, like you give mom a presence, cook
- 24:39Speaker 1: your breakfast in bed, and then she gets up to
- 24:41Speaker 1: do the dishes. I like, And normally I wouldn't like
- 24:48Speaker 1: this right, but for some reason, maybe I was just
- 24:50Speaker 1: in a good mood. But the Homer's hand is Maggie
- 24:54Speaker 1: right when it's he's she's feeding it and he's got
- 24:59Speaker 1: But then when he said cool it, she's getting suspicious
- 25:01Speaker 1: and he does like a cookie monster, the voice of
- 25:03Speaker 1: you could it, I'm hungry. I'm like, I put it on.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I don't know why I find this so funny, but
- 25:10Speaker 1: just I was in the right mood and it got
- 25:12Speaker 1: me at the right time. And then just the side gag,
- 25:14Speaker 1: the visual gag of the keepout sign and then saying, oh, enter,
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm not a cod hope. Yeah, because how often do
- 25:20Speaker 1: you see in things that says keep out and you go,
- 25:22Speaker 1: no one's around, you keep off the grass. Like, what
- 25:24Speaker 1: do you speaking of signs? Right? I saw this happen
- 25:28Speaker 1: in the flesh in person. Right, I've never seen it
- 25:30Speaker 1: happen before, but it's true wet paint signs. Right, people
- 25:34Speaker 1: can't resist. That's that's the joke. You see wet paint sign,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you gonna touch it. We walk in, Elliot can read
- 25:39Speaker 1: mind you, he fucking knows what this sign said. We
- 25:42Speaker 1: walk into Holly's daycare and they've just rebuilt the sort
- 25:45Speaker 1: of the front foy area, dirty big sign that says
- 25:48Speaker 1: wet paint, do not touch. Motherfucking just touches it. I'm like,
- 25:52Speaker 1: what the It's almost like you want to see a
- 25:55Speaker 1: dog run have a butcheter sausages. I was like, I've
- 25:57Speaker 1: seen someone see wet paint, don't touch it and just
- 25:59Speaker 1: touched it. Look, why did you do that? He goes,
- 26:01Speaker 1: I don't know, whole hand fingertip, fingertip, fingertip. Still, I said,
- 26:05Speaker 1: why did you touch it? He goes, I don't know.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I don't think he even knew don't touch the brains touched.
- 26:11Speaker 1: You didn't miss a beat, just touched it. We talk
- 26:14Speaker 1: a lot on the show about what a good boy
- 26:16Speaker 1: Elliott is. He's a good boy. It sounds like he
- 26:19Speaker 1: confused himself. He was. I don't know what I did.
- 26:23Speaker 1: There's a spark of the rebel in him. Yeah, he
- 26:24Speaker 1: just had to. Yeah. Next question, you there eating the beast?
- 26:30Speaker 1: All right, it's time for some trivia questions. So you
- 26:32Speaker 1: were only a couple here, I'll ask you my first one.
- 26:35Speaker 1: What did the signs say at the hospital at the front? Oh,
- 26:40Speaker 1: if you died here, you'd be home now? Correct? Yeah, yeah,
- 26:44Speaker 1: I suppose makes uh. I have to wrap my head
- 26:46Speaker 1: around that. I'm pretty sure it makes sense going anywhere,
- 26:49Speaker 1: you'd be the Morgue. Correct.
- 26:51Speaker 2: When Ken Brockman is reporting on the solar eclipse at
- 26:54Speaker 2: the start of the episode, Yeah, what is the headline
- 26:56Speaker 2: that he sort of had Not?
- 26:58Speaker 1: It's a chiron, you know what I mean? Do I dared?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Look at my notes? Do I cheat? If you took notes?
- 27:03Speaker 1: It's guy and Aara Sky and Arrah. Yes. My next
- 27:06Speaker 1: one for you is what car do the Brethren do
- 27:09Speaker 1: their sleuthing in?
- 27:11Speaker 2: Oh, it's not a it's a toya gallany.
- 27:15Speaker 1: It's a car that cartman gives away, that brand, that
- 27:18Speaker 1: model car cartman at the mall. Come get your Nissan.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Is it a Galaxy? It is Nissan Quest Minivan Quest.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Sorry I knew it was like not a play on words,
- 27:30Speaker 1: but you say one thing, it could be something else.
- 27:32Speaker 1: What did? What did? Can't give away Nissan something? Oh?
- 27:35Speaker 1: I can't remember. Can't get your free Nissan? According much?
- 27:40Speaker 1: Is it much? She says that I don't know.
- 27:42Speaker 2: But the twenty twenty seven solar eclipse will take place
- 27:44Speaker 2: where Yemen. Yeah, and I'm going to need more information.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Oh, what was it? North Yemen? North Yemen aka? Which
- 27:51Speaker 1: is actually going to be happening? Yeah, twenty twenty seven. Well,
- 27:54Speaker 1: when we get through the notes, I actually looked up
- 27:56Speaker 1: when the next eclipse is going to be happening in Australia. Well,
- 27:58Speaker 1: have you in Australian this know when the next clip
- 28:00Speaker 1: is going to be happening? Apparently there's five between twenty
- 28:03Speaker 1: twenty three and twenty thirty eight. That's provided you know
- 28:06Speaker 1: we're not destroyed by an asteroid. Yeah, we can only
- 28:09Speaker 1: hope not, depending on the day. Yes. My next question
- 28:14Speaker 1: for you is final question, where does Homer buy the
- 28:16Speaker 1: rat Poison from the play on an American store. Oh oh,
- 28:21Speaker 1: which because of the sign and the color, I always
- 28:23Speaker 1: thought it was a rip off of JB. High five.
- 28:25Speaker 1: But it's not. Yeah, simply the oh it's pest by. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 28:32Speaker 1: thank you very much for you help. I appreciate it.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I have two other questions here, but I'm going to
- 28:37Speaker 1: want to ask you one in the sake of equilibrium.
- 28:41Speaker 1: The bell the Springfield bells melted down to make what
- 28:45Speaker 1: civil war chest sets correct? Yes, well, then during World
- 28:48Speaker 1: War two, I was like, no, no, it was World War II.
- 28:50Speaker 1: It was the other one, that other one, not World
- 28:52Speaker 1: War One for a different war. All right, let's get
- 28:54Speaker 1: into some stone culor shirt as shall we? Oh yeah, God.

- 29:47Speaker 1: have been top tier supporters stonecutters here at the four
- 29:50Speaker 1: thing of discap Network. Could cutting those stones for us guys? Indeed,
- 29:53Speaker 1: all right, let's get into our complete run through of
- 29:56Speaker 1: Gone Mackey Gone Now. The episode title was a play
- 29:58Speaker 1: on what now. You have a bit of a story
- 30:00Speaker 1: here when you get well, sit down children, do sit down, children,
- 30:06Speaker 1: because yeah, it's time for Generation X tells you what's what.
- 30:11Speaker 1: There's been more than one outlet online saying, oh, this
- 30:13Speaker 1: is a riff on Gone Baby Gone, the Dennis Lay
- 30:18Speaker 1: novel that was turned into a film by Ben Affleck,
- 30:21Speaker 1: his first directorial effort Beyond the Camera. I would suggest
- 30:26Speaker 1: it is actually a riff on the song Gone Daddy
- 30:30Speaker 1: Gone by the Violent Fems, which came out sometime in
- 30:32Speaker 1: the eighties. It's why that well, gone Daddy Gone sounds
- 30:36Speaker 1: more like gone, Maggie Gone. But it's also this sorry
- 30:39Speaker 1: is a better baby I guess. So, hey, maybe here's
- 30:43Speaker 1: a suggestion two things can be true. It also doesn't
- 30:47Speaker 1: help that you cause the fact that Ems and Graham
- 30:49Speaker 1: said it was a play on gone mate, baby gone.
- 30:52Speaker 1: It was he No, it's just the writer. I completely
- 30:56Speaker 1: made that up. By the way, continue though, so you
- 30:59Speaker 1: think it's because it's sound like I think.
- 31:00Speaker 2: It sounds more like gone, Meggie Gone, Gone, Daddy Gone,
- 31:04Speaker 2: but also baby gone makes a whole bunch of sense
- 31:06Speaker 2: as well. I'm just saying, let's open our mind to possibilities.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Of course, it works both ways. Unless we actually ask
- 31:12Speaker 1: Billy Kimball or e Maxtone Graham, we'll never know. The
- 31:14Speaker 1: real truth will.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Be, Well, you've got it in with all these people.
- 31:17Speaker 2: I mean, you're the one who goes out to dinner
- 31:19Speaker 2: with that's elmen.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Once it wasn't invited. You just get following from yes,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and I was like, hey, it's a guy. The original
- 31:27Speaker 1: edit was March fifteen, two thousand and nine. Now box office,
- 31:31Speaker 1: mister Davis for March fifteen, two thousand and nine, number
- 31:34Speaker 1: one at the box office. This is actually very fucking
- 31:38Speaker 1: relevant to this episode. Could not be any more fucking relevant.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It could, but you'll understand when I say the answer.
- 31:47Speaker 1: So number one at the box office. Think what this
- 31:49Speaker 1: episode's about, and have a guess. Well, it's not the
- 31:52Speaker 1: da Vinci Code, not National Treasure, but it's pretty fucking close,
- 31:56Speaker 1: is it. Angels indebils. Yes, it was number one at
- 31:59Speaker 1: the box office when this episode came out, which maybe
- 32:01Speaker 1: it's a bit of synergy. Maybe they knew it was
- 32:03Speaker 1: coming out. They tried to tie it in with that
- 32:05Speaker 1: so people will be talking about angels and demons. We
- 32:07Speaker 1: can use that in the promo for the TV for
- 32:09Speaker 1: the episode. Maybe, hey, angel demons is just out. By
- 32:11Speaker 1: the way, the Simpsons is going to be solving as
- 32:13Speaker 1: DaVinci Code esque clues.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Angels and Demons. The sequel to the da Vinci Code.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yeah, the Little step Brother didn't quite do as well.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I don't think I think there was. It was the
- 32:21Speaker 1: Laura Diminishing returns. When it came to these Robert Langdon adventures,
- 32:24Speaker 1: there was an image code which is very big. Angels
- 32:26Speaker 1: and Demons came after that. Then there was Inferno, which
- 32:28Speaker 1: was an absolute stinker, and I think Guy to Death
- 32:30Speaker 1: And number number two at the time was the movie
- 32:32Speaker 1: that you love, a sci fi film based on an
- 32:35Speaker 1: old TV shows, got your Favoritechris in it? Oh, I
- 32:39Speaker 1: mean out of the four crises? Is it Star Trek
- 32:42Speaker 1: Star Trek? Yeah? Ah? And number three was the end
- 32:45Speaker 1: of a trilogy or was it? Actually I don't think
- 32:48Speaker 1: it was X Men Origins Wolverine. No, that's a spinoff pinoff, yes,
- 32:51Speaker 1: which wasn't any good? Right? Is that the one terrible?
- 32:53Speaker 1: Is that the one that has Ryan Reynolds? It does?
- 32:57Speaker 1: That's what I had, the poorly leads footage, right it did? Yeah? Yeah?
- 33:00Speaker 2: And the first appearance of well Deadpool in some ways yeah, yeah,
- 33:05Speaker 2: because he's playing Wade Wilson, Okay, exactly.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah. So that was the top three films. Angels and
- 33:09Speaker 1: Demons was number one when this episode came out, which
- 33:11Speaker 1: makes a lot more sense now they would do this
- 33:13Speaker 1: Star Trek and X Men Origins Wolverine was number three.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Terminut of Salvation coming in at number four, and now
- 33:19Speaker 1: there was no Chalk Out apparently, but the Couch gag
- 33:21Speaker 1: is the couch is a pinada and blindfolder rough coming
- 33:24Speaker 1: and hits it and the family all falls out of
- 33:26Speaker 1: the pinnada. Have you ever hit a pinada? I have. Yeah.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I had to do one of a birthday party recently
- 33:30Speaker 1: because the kids couldn't open it. So I just basically
- 33:31Speaker 1: said here, I'll help you. I just did it, and
- 33:34Speaker 1: then he's like, oh my god, this can't. Kids are
- 33:36Speaker 1: saying candy, set of lollies. Now, because I watch much
- 33:38Speaker 1: American television, I don't like it. Halloween. Could they say
- 33:40Speaker 1: Halloween candy? Yeah, they got so much candy it Halloween.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I was like, that's you got lollies kid, Yeah, but
- 33:48Speaker 1: don't go to England. So you got lollies that means lollipop.
- 33:50Speaker 1: As I've already discussed, that's true. Yeah, but yeah, candy Olly,
- 33:52Speaker 1: and Allie's saying candy. The friend saying candy. I want
- 33:55Speaker 1: candy on Halloween. No, no lollies. Yes yeah. This Astralia
- 33:59Speaker 1: mate for his America en directed by Chris Clements. This
- 34:04Speaker 1: episode written by Billy Kimmel and Emxta and Graham As
- 34:07Speaker 1: I said, Ed Begley Junior as himself.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Episode Yes, Ed Begley Junior, well known for his advocacy
- 34:15Speaker 2: of environmental causes. He's driving his solar powered Carly.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Gets hit by a solar powered tree. He must have
- 34:23Speaker 1: came into a voice a scream, right, I guess so.
- 34:27Speaker 1: But he's appeared on the show before as himself. I'm
- 34:29Speaker 1: pretty sure everyone's had him to do a scream for
- 34:31Speaker 1: a future script or something. Why possibly. The episode kicks
- 34:34Speaker 1: off though, with Brockman's news report on Sky and Nara,
- 34:37Speaker 1: and he says, like a woman breastfeeding in a restaurant,
- 34:39Speaker 1: it's free, it's beautiful, but under no circumstances should you
- 34:42Speaker 1: ever look at it? Yeah, that's true. It's a fair point.
- 34:45Speaker 1: He recommends using a homemade camera obscurer made from an
- 34:49Speaker 1: ordinary shoe box and papertowl tube. He has one there
- 34:52Speaker 1: wasn't made previously. Reminded me of the old show Art
- 34:55Speaker 1: Attackers to watch when I was a kid. He used
- 34:57Speaker 1: to always be making ship and be trying to go
- 34:59Speaker 1: along school holidays. You got your little kid out, and
- 35:01Speaker 1: then you go and here's something I'm prepared earlier. And
- 35:03Speaker 1: she'd look a little bit something like this, and I'm like, motherfucker,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I can't keep up now. I was still put the
- 35:08Speaker 1: tube in this. The glue hasn't dried yet.
- 35:10Speaker 2: No, I got in trouble for getting my kid out
- 35:13Speaker 2: during the cool holiday, so I won't be doing that again.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Putting your tube in other things, that's correct. And the
- 35:18Speaker 2: slamming together the glue was sticky. Oh my goodness. By
- 35:22Speaker 2: the way, at the end of this, when you know
- 35:23Speaker 2: he's got his he throws a hissy fit. He does
- 35:27Speaker 2: this is to me reminiscent of and they may have
- 35:30Speaker 2: meant this, they may have not, But there's a US
- 35:33Speaker 2: newsman named Bill o'reiley.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Doing it live. Fuck it, we're doing it live. Yeah,
- 35:38Speaker 1: it didn't seem exactly like that, but it seemed close enough.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I thought the exact same thing. I've got that written
- 35:41Speaker 1: down here, and that was in two thousand and eight.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I believe it makes sense because this here though he says,
- 35:47Speaker 1: because he says, well, I'll just built it live. That's
- 35:48Speaker 1: what he says, and it just doesn't go well. So yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 1: because there's trouble finding the end of the tape, why
- 35:53Speaker 1: is in twenty twenty five still I was trying to
- 35:55Speaker 1: wrap up a box to post something from eBay the
- 35:56Speaker 1: other day and still to this day. Finally the end
- 35:58Speaker 1: of the tape. Look, I used the tape gun down
- 36:00Speaker 1: to prevent that. But you're just trying to find the
- 36:02Speaker 1: end of a tape. Have you just got a roll? Yeah?
- 36:04Speaker 2: I mean I've got the thing you have on the desk.
- 36:07Speaker 2: What do you call what do you call that thing?
- 36:08Speaker 1: The tape dispenser where it sort of flicks, Yeah, genius move.
- 36:12Speaker 1: But yeah, so this year I definitely thought was Bill O. Raley.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Fuck it, we're doing it, live good, We're in agreement.
- 36:18Speaker 1: This was supposed to be pre mate. Fine, I'll do
- 36:21Speaker 1: it myself. Where is the end of that freaking tape?
- 36:24Speaker 1: Forget it? We'll do it next week. The eclipses today,
- 36:27Speaker 1: there's an eclipse. When I say there's any clipse, then
- 36:30Speaker 1: we get a really beautiful shot that we mentioned earlier
- 36:32Speaker 1: from space of the eclipse starting to begin, and guys
- 36:35Speaker 1: are jumping from the roof of the amaligated sunscreen building. Yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Why because they're clearly overreacting the fact that there's no son.
- 36:44Speaker 1: That's I'm like, it's not gonna last long. No, no.
- 36:49Speaker 1: And at Begley, junr Is in his solo car stops
- 36:52Speaker 1: working on the train lines, but I'm thankfully his trained
- 36:54Speaker 1: also stops just in time. Yes, and the family are
- 36:56Speaker 1: all looking through their boxes. They've made the homemade boxes
- 36:59Speaker 1: to view the eclipse, are in their backyard, and Lisa
- 37:02Speaker 1: says we've hit p number. Brace your Sales for Umbra
- 37:05Speaker 1: Bra But Lisa a button, Homer, i should say, trying
- 37:08Speaker 1: to see it first, just being usual dickheads, which results
- 37:11Speaker 1: in a tussle that sees Homer squash his viewer and Marge,
- 37:14Speaker 1: being the beautiful soul that year, she offers hers. Since
- 37:16Speaker 1: there's going to be another one in North Yemen, as
- 37:18Speaker 1: you said in twenty twenty seven, which is now only
- 37:21Speaker 1: two years away, which would have felt like forever a
- 37:23Speaker 1: way back time. But Marge, you haven't aged it all,
- 37:25Speaker 1: so you could probably enjoy it. Oh well, voices age
- 37:29Speaker 1: a little bit. It's weird that that it makes me
- 37:30Speaker 1: feel old. That joke was made to go. Yeah, but
- 37:33Speaker 1: that thing's off like twenty years far away. Yeah, and
- 37:36Speaker 1: it's like that's next two years away. No, no, and yes,
- 37:40Speaker 1: he note it is true there is one in North
- 37:42Speaker 1: Yemen twenty twenty seven, but the next one for Australia,
- 37:44Speaker 1: Brace Your Sales is July twenty second, twenty twenty eight.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Oh okay, so just over three years from now? Can
- 37:49Speaker 1: I wait that long? Will you be alive in three years?
- 37:52Speaker 1: Not the way I'm going. Yeah, who knows. It's time
- 37:54Speaker 1: there for the eclipse, it's about to begin. They all
- 37:57Speaker 1: can't believe how beautiful it is, and March just can't
- 37:59Speaker 1: resist the temptation to look, so she just uses her
- 38:02Speaker 1: eyes basically, Yeah, and it does. It actually looked really
- 38:05Speaker 1: quite nice. It looks quite beautiful. Just burns her eyes.
- 38:08Speaker 1: And I know this is a cartoon, but call me soft.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I just anything with eyes man just does mean Oh yeah,
- 38:13Speaker 1: trauma is no good.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 1: What's that famous film where they slice the person's eye,
- 38:19Speaker 1: the old surrealist film anderlu That's what debates a from Pixies.
- 38:23Speaker 1: That's what he says. That's the chorus. So that's not real, right,
- 38:28Speaker 1: I don't believe so, yeah, because no one slicing for
- 38:31Speaker 1: a movie, surely, but just didn't know. Maybe Eli Roth, Yeah, maybe,
- 38:35Speaker 1: but I just I know eyes just funny people. Nicola
- 38:38Speaker 1: one says, I've got something stuck in my eye, and
- 38:39Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I'll do anything. I can't get shit out
- 38:42Speaker 1: of your eye? What people say sometimes, but what is it?
- 38:48Speaker 1: What would he do for love? But they always say
- 38:50Speaker 1: the song doesn't explain it. I'm like, isn't a pretty
- 38:51Speaker 1: self explainatory because isn't it the fact that he will
- 38:54Speaker 1: never cheat? I think it's something like that, And I
- 38:56Speaker 1: guess it doesn't really make sense he'd never cheat for love,
- 38:59Speaker 1: but I don't know. Loves longer with us is. He
- 39:03Speaker 1: was passed away. So I bought my dad a cameo
- 39:04Speaker 1: for meat Loaf about a week before he passed away.
- 39:07Speaker 1: He's my dad's favorite musician. I thought, what are the odds, Like,
- 39:09Speaker 1: how lucky was that? Except he was a fucking weird
- 39:12Speaker 1: guy and a cameo. It was worent for like seventeen minutes,
- 39:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, And I edited it down myself to
- 39:21Speaker 1: like maybe three and a half because it was just
- 39:23Speaker 1: a lot of waffling and I don't think he quite
- 39:25Speaker 1: understood the concept of oh cameo. So I sent the
- 39:29Speaker 1: message through saying can you say happy bro? I'm got
- 39:32Speaker 1: some of the lines of can you say, I hope
- 39:34Speaker 1: you have a great day and you and you act
- 39:36Speaker 1: like a like a bad out of hell or something
- 39:37Speaker 1: like that, and say it like a bad out of
- 39:39Speaker 1: a House and say it like the song. And I
- 39:40Speaker 1: think I've put in bracket and sing like the song.
- 39:42Speaker 1: And he goes and he says, he says, open bracket,
- 39:48Speaker 1: sing like the song bad out of Hell, close bracket.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Not sure what he means. I'm like, oh, meet cloth Bundy,
- 39:57Speaker 1: so like you didn't see it. He just he goes
- 39:59Speaker 1: see it like open bracket like it. He just reads
- 40:01Speaker 1: what it said on Then I was like, ah, this
- 40:04Speaker 1: is not what I asked for. Strange cat, make a
- 40:08Speaker 1: very strange cat. Then as to have seen two out
- 40:09Speaker 1: of three eight bad, and they sang like three different
- 40:12Speaker 1: renditions of it. So I was like, he's sang two
- 40:14Speaker 1: out of three a bad for my dad, Like, can't complain,
- 40:17Speaker 1: but it was. It was a bizarre, bizarre video. We
- 40:20Speaker 1: have done any cameos. We're open to doing cameos. Would
- 40:23Speaker 1: people want cameos from us? We could? We always open
- 40:26Speaker 1: an account and see what happens. Sure, yeah, it would
- 40:29Speaker 1: be Guy and Dando Dandol guy. What we need to
- 40:32Speaker 1: do is need to open up a Guy and Dando
- 40:33Speaker 1: one and open up like an alien holy one and
- 40:34Speaker 1: see he gets more.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I don't think my ego could take that. Are they
- 40:41Speaker 2: just are they just done audio? Or they do them
- 40:42Speaker 2: on video as well?
- 40:43Speaker 1: Cameos yeah, Jesus Christ, mean where are you? Of course
- 40:46Speaker 1: they're videos. I don't use it. You have seen a cameo? Oh,
- 40:50Speaker 1: I know of them, the videos people film on their phone. Well,
- 40:53Speaker 1: you know, get to hold the kittens or something like
- 40:55Speaker 1: that while we do them. Wow. Yeah, cameos make some
- 40:59Speaker 1: real money. Come soon here. You're gonna make it somehow,
- 41:01Speaker 1: don't we. But at the hospital now, and Hibbitt says
- 41:06Speaker 1: that Marge's eyes must be covered for two whole weeks. Now,
- 41:09Speaker 1: that line there as I got to the end confused
- 41:11Speaker 1: me because I went, two weeks have not transpired during
- 41:15Speaker 1: this episode. Lisa wasn't at the church for two weeks.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I don't think so. No, Marge takes her blindfold off
- 41:22Speaker 1: at the end, feels like it's been two days. Her
- 41:24Speaker 1: eyes are okay, three tops. I don't think it's ever been.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I think it's like one day. It's bizarre. I just
- 41:30Speaker 1: thought that there's just being uncovered for two weeks, and
- 41:32Speaker 1: then it's just I just don't have that line in there,
- 41:34Speaker 1: just that she needs to have a rest and no
- 41:35Speaker 1: stress because Homa says that he'll be her seeing Homer,
- 41:38Speaker 1: which I thought was a nice name, and he attempts
- 41:40Speaker 1: to describe the room and then quickly takes a break
- 41:42Speaker 1: because well he sucks at it, and then it just
- 41:45Speaker 1: gives up. And it's not necessarily funny, but as far
- 41:47Speaker 1: as modern Homer goes, it was inoffensive enough to for
- 41:49Speaker 1: me just give it a pass. Whatever if it's or
- 41:52Speaker 1: whatever it's as you get to see if it. Then
- 41:55Speaker 1: warns that any stress could cause the blood pressure Marger's
- 41:57Speaker 1: eyeballs to increase or whatever. It just makes this no stress. Essentially,
- 42:00Speaker 1: she needs no stress in her life right now, and
- 42:02Speaker 1: it will lead to text avery syndrome. And he puts
- 42:04Speaker 1: on the old cartoon wolves are all taken. They're taking
- 42:07Speaker 1: all of our women. That's what Homo says at the
- 42:08Speaker 1: end of it. I mean, I understand why they had
- 42:10Speaker 1: to put the text Avery cartoon on, so younger of
- 42:13Speaker 1: yours and understand what's going on. I think that kind
- 42:15Speaker 1: of joke works better if you don't show the cartoon.
- 42:17Speaker 1: We call it takes avery syndrome. Yeah, maybe just show
- 42:20Speaker 1: like a hole of a picture or something. Maybe. Yeah,
- 42:22Speaker 1: at home, the family have planned a meal along with
- 42:24Speaker 1: flowers from Mars, treating her just like the queen that
- 42:26Speaker 1: she is. And every day's been like the first ten
- 42:28Speaker 1: minutes of Mother's Day. And Homo says, everything is taken
- 42:30Speaker 1: care of, but then Lisa calls him into the kitchen quickly.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Is there any other way to enter a kitchen? And
- 42:34Speaker 1: he sees that it's full of rats and just like
- 42:37Speaker 1: that delightful movie that he taped in the theater. But
- 42:39Speaker 1: a nostalgia for us there right, the old cams. You
- 42:42Speaker 1: still get some cams, I speke to someone recently said
- 42:44Speaker 1: they saw a cam of a movie recently. I'll collbably shit,
- 42:46Speaker 1: these things still exists. Oh no, cams are still very
- 42:49Speaker 1: big and increasing quality all the time. So here, yeah,
- 42:53Speaker 1: I like to think that Homer isn't quite up to
- 42:54Speaker 1: two thousand nine technology, and you're still doing VCDs the
- 42:58Speaker 1: two discs misspelling ratitude on the disc by the way,
- 43:01Speaker 1: And by the way, was this a shout out or
- 43:03Speaker 1: sledge to former Simpson stuff a Brad Bird the director
- 43:07Speaker 1: of RATATOUI. Oh, I wouldn't got a sledge. It would
- 43:09Speaker 1: have just been a tongue in cheap joke, kind of
- 43:11Speaker 1: like when George Lucas and Spielbeakers have their each other's
- 43:14Speaker 1: characters in their films and whatnot. I mean they love
- 43:15Speaker 1: brad Bird. How could you not love brad Bird? Give

- 43:55Speaker 1: four figure discount on. I've mentioned this podcast before. My
- 43:59Speaker 1: first illegal My first introduction of a cam was Space
- 44:02Speaker 1: Jam in nineteen ninety six. The movie was still at
- 44:05Speaker 1: the space Cam, yes, exactly, well played. It was still
- 44:08Speaker 1: at the movies, and I remember being in the next
- 44:11Speaker 1: door Everor's house and his uncle Joe came over and
- 44:13Speaker 1: he said, you guys want watch Space Jam And I
- 44:15Speaker 1: was like, oh, that's my mum. If we can go,
- 44:17Speaker 1: you know, I've got it here and like King of
- 44:20Speaker 1: the Kid and he had the VHS tape and I said, like,
- 44:23Speaker 1: Space Jam is written on it, and I was like,
- 44:25Speaker 1: what the idea I've been able to watch a movie
- 44:28Speaker 1: that's at the movies at home. I didn't quite understand
- 44:31Speaker 1: what he meant.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I'm glad that's someone you could trust, by the way,
- 44:33Speaker 2: because Joe could be very easily Space Jam kids jump
- 44:38Speaker 2: into the van and check it out.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Yeah, what's his space game? Jam in the band? It's
- 44:42Speaker 1: time to slam nowh my god. But he puts it
- 44:47Speaker 1: in and fucking shure a shit shit quote. I still
- 44:49Speaker 1: at the VHS tape, still got the copy of because
- 44:51Speaker 1: he then because he was like the he was that
- 44:53Speaker 1: guy that always had the burnt David's and whatnot, and
- 44:55Speaker 1: he ripped it from one he gave me a copy.
- 44:58Speaker 2: He's like Christopher walking in Big Now, little man, give
- 45:02Speaker 2: the dis to you.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Not at this VHR staatee VH state and yeah, I
- 45:08Speaker 1: still to this day have it and it's just here
- 45:09Speaker 1: people laughing. You see some heads and whatnot. But fuck man,
- 45:12Speaker 1: sure a ship that changed, honestly changed my life. That
- 45:15Speaker 1: is a moment I will never forget. Can you remember
- 45:16Speaker 1: your first cam mine was probably Batman? I think my
- 45:20Speaker 1: friend JP brought brought a VHS rip of Batman? But
- 45:24Speaker 1: was it? Was it a cam though? What I'm trying
- 45:27Speaker 1: to say. It was it like your first cat? Wait? No, no, yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 1: no it was I was a cam Okay, it wasn't
- 45:31Speaker 1: it was like a it was still it was a
- 45:33Speaker 1: blank VHS filmed at the cinema. Beautiful. Yeah, so I
- 45:36Speaker 1: think we're all sort of.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Gathering this ship quality, but hey, we're watching Batman at home, unpresidented.
- 45:43Speaker 1: It's hard to describe the thrill. I think I even
- 45:45Speaker 1: put a tweet at this about once. It's like hard
- 45:47Speaker 1: to describe the thrill to the younger kids now of
- 45:49Speaker 1: buying a burnt DVD from the market and the thriller
- 45:53Speaker 1: on the way home, just hoping that it's gonna be
- 45:55Speaker 1: good quality. They always sid you're great quality, great quality,
- 45:57Speaker 1: and you get how you put in like, ah, this
- 45:58Speaker 1: is ship whatever. Five Bucks. But when you eventually bought
- 46:01Speaker 1: a burnt one and it was a good quality, You're like,
- 46:05Speaker 1: I've cracked the matrix. Yeah, oh yeah, my friend's Mark
- 46:07Speaker 1: and Nat we used to go to a ship of
- 46:13Speaker 1: in the plastic sleeves, so good times. Just trying to
- 46:18Speaker 1: explain the concept to kids. Now, oh, you had to
- 46:20Speaker 1: like buy movies kids, Aliens are like, what do you mean?
- 46:22Speaker 1: Like every movie is accessible whenever I want it from
- 46:25Speaker 1: on any device and any room of the house at
- 46:26Speaker 1: any time. What are you talking about? That's your lost kid.
- 46:31Speaker 1: But the rat uses Homer as like a ventrilous dummy
- 46:34Speaker 1: kind of thing and makes him a nice gets to
- 46:36Speaker 1: make a nice meal. But then he says it's good,
- 46:38Speaker 1: not great. So he says he's getting the rat poison
- 46:40Speaker 1: and all the rats bail. But now it shall we
- 46:42Speaker 1: viel shopping plaza and Homer is buying rat poison at
- 46:45Speaker 1: pest buy. I play on best Buy. Wise guys, the
- 46:48Speaker 1: guy working out what is it with kids and candy
- 46:51Speaker 1: killing poison? Yes, it's not to see him making an
- 46:53Speaker 1: appearance here. He said, you get rid of all those
- 46:55Speaker 1: dirty rats and the clean ones too. It's little things
- 46:58Speaker 1: like that that's that's a joke. I enjoyed it, they said,
- 47:00Speaker 1: as little helper tries to eat her rabbit toy, which
- 47:02Speaker 1: I thought was the life in hal rabbit. But it's not.
- 47:05Speaker 1: It's going to add to it. No, But it looks
- 47:06Speaker 1: a little bit like it, a little bit. Yeah, And
- 47:09Speaker 1: they said don't. He said, don't fight in front of
- 47:10Speaker 1: the poison man. And on their way home, they're still squabbling,
- 47:13Speaker 1: and it causes Homer to drive off a bridge, crashing
- 47:15Speaker 1: the car by a lake. He then finds a boat,
- 47:17Speaker 1: but they're too heavy, and he says, I need to
- 47:19Speaker 1: get the baby, the dog, and the poison across the river,
- 47:21Speaker 1: but can only take one at a time. I can't
- 47:23Speaker 1: leave the baby alone with the poison. I can't leave
- 47:24Speaker 1: the dog alone with the baby. Can someone please help
- 47:26Speaker 1: me with this puzzle, which is an iconic puzzle. They fox,
- 47:29Speaker 1: the goose and the eggs. Yeah, the clea.
- 47:31Speaker 2: This puzzle is actually the puzzle that's most widely sighted
- 47:34Speaker 2: when it comes to this kind of brain teas he
- 47:35Speaker 2: has ducks, but.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the visual is the goose apparently. Yeah.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I was always a fox, a chicken and something chicken.
- 47:41Speaker 1: It's a bird of some kind and eggs, and.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I was like, I'm gonna have this a real brain
- 47:45Speaker 2: to This is the reason I love die have with
- 47:48Speaker 2: a vengeance. But and I've seen it many, many times,
- 47:50Speaker 2: but they've got that thing in the middle where it's like, Okay,
- 47:52Speaker 2: you've got a four gallon jug and three gallon jug,
- 47:54Speaker 2: but I need to you need to put exactly two
- 47:56Speaker 2: gallons of water on this thing otherwise this thing's.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Gonna blow up.
- 47:59Speaker 2: I'm like, is gonna have to fast forward through this
- 48:01Speaker 2: because I'll never get it. They always get it and
- 48:03Speaker 2: they save New York. But it's like, oh, man, i'd
- 48:06Speaker 2: be fucked. I hate, so you have to not that
- 48:08Speaker 2: I hate because you can't do it. You have to
- 48:10Speaker 2: skip it. Oh it's that's what I usually take a piss.
- 48:13Speaker 2: So what don't you like about it?
- 48:14Speaker 1: Though? Because I'm dumb. It makes me feel dumb. And likewise,
- 48:20Speaker 1: this day.
- 48:21Speaker 2: It's like, I'm sure if my brain wasn't fried from
- 48:23Speaker 2: various whatevers, various misadventures and you know, brain rot, I'll
- 48:27Speaker 2: be like, oh, I'm sure I can weave this up,
- 48:29Speaker 2: and I'm just like, oh, no, to compligate it.
- 48:32Speaker 1: That's one of the people do go to trivia nights
- 48:33Speaker 1: that I've always said the perfect trivia night is the
- 48:35Speaker 1: one that questions are easy enough to answer, but you
- 48:37Speaker 1: gotta throw in two or three that are really difficult,
- 48:39Speaker 1: but the majority need to be pretty easy to answer. No, easy, easy,
- 48:43Speaker 1: but enough. You don't want to go to a trivia
- 48:44Speaker 1: night and never be able to answer any questions because
- 48:46Speaker 1: you'd never go again. You never go again. You feel stupid.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Let's see, I need to get the baby, the dog,
- 48:50Speaker 3: and the poison across the river, but I can only
- 48:52Speaker 3: take one thing at a time. I can't leave the
- 48:55Speaker 3: baby alone with the poison, and I can't leave the
- 48:57Speaker 3: dog alone with the baby. And someone help me with
- 49:01Speaker 3: this puzzles, Frank, help me figure this out?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yo over here.
- 49:13Speaker 3: By high great time to nap Einstein.
- 49:21Speaker 1: This was such a bizarre series of events that leads
- 49:24Speaker 1: to all this, so that the crash that go to
- 49:25Speaker 1: the poison store crashes, the car finds the boat, but
- 49:28Speaker 1: it leads to a pretty enjoyable ad break. As a
- 49:30Speaker 1: kid will be left thinking how do you do that?
- 49:33Speaker 1: Wanted to solve it, and I think it's simple enough
- 49:35Speaker 1: for a kid to be able to figure it out.
- 49:37Speaker 1: You know what I mean? But is it one of
- 49:38Speaker 1: those not for me? But is it one of those
- 49:40Speaker 1: things that is not meant to be able to be solved?
- 49:42Speaker 1: I feel I think homer solution actually works. Oh yeah,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I think that he's leaving the baby alone for a second,
- 49:47Speaker 1: but like that shit would actually work.
- 49:49Speaker 2: I know we're meant to do our googling prior to
- 49:51Speaker 2: the show, but I'm going to do a little bit
- 49:53Speaker 2: right now and say and learning to solve a river
- 49:57Speaker 2: crossing puzzle. The solution is, take the goose across, come
- 49:59Speaker 2: by empty, take the beans across, bring the goose back,
- 50:02Speaker 2: let the goose on the bank, take the fox across,
- 50:03Speaker 2: come back empty, take the goose across.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I think hom solves it, right. I think Homo solved it,
- 50:09Speaker 1: except he left Maggie on the doorstep of a convent
- 50:11Speaker 1: of a convent. But otherwise, yeah, he did all right.
- 50:13Speaker 1: The Homer here is replacing it with the dog, the poison,
- 50:16Speaker 1: and the baby. So Homer has solved it. As we
- 50:18Speaker 1: get back, he's taking Maggie first and replacing her with
- 50:20Speaker 1: the poison. Then sounds a little Helbert, then returning for her.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Now that way, she's never felt She's never left alone
- 50:26Speaker 1: with the poison or the dog, but it means that
- 50:27Speaker 1: she's left alone. He will then arrive home at most,
- 50:30Speaker 1: which is what very correct, I'll be home letter at most.
- 50:33Speaker 1: He starts going be sads. The little helper starts swimmings
- 50:35Speaker 1: like we're not listening to me at all. We don't
- 50:37Speaker 1: know it needs your help. Then he says Cleidus, who
- 50:39Speaker 1: asks he's got the fox the duck in the eggs.
- 50:41Speaker 1: But unfortunately, though Cleidus's puzzle done solves itself. But by
- 50:44Speaker 1: having the fox just eat everything, that's the end of
- 50:46Speaker 1: that puzzle. Homer leaves Maggie by Saint Theresa's I'll keep
- 50:50Speaker 1: an eye on you. I'll I'll keep watching just in
- 50:51Speaker 1: case God's busy making tornadoes or not existing haha. And
- 50:55Speaker 1: the Catholics now consider her when a guy's discarded little
- 50:59Speaker 1: miracles and they take her away. Then Homer pleads to
- 51:02Speaker 1: have her back, but then asks why she was listening
- 51:04Speaker 1: the first place. He mentions the dog and the poison
- 51:05Speaker 1: and whatnot, and he wants to take her back to
- 51:06Speaker 1: the rat infested house. So of course she refuses to
- 51:09Speaker 1: let him have her back, and he mentions, do you
- 51:11Speaker 1: have a husband. She says her husband is or she's
- 51:13Speaker 1: married to Jesus and he's married to wonder Woman. Sure,
- 51:15Speaker 1: but she slams the door in his face and has
- 51:16Speaker 1: got little Mary of scram Yeah, they'd be hard to
- 51:21Speaker 1: believe the church would just keep her. But for the
- 51:22Speaker 1: second story, let's just go with it. Catholic nuns are
- 51:25Speaker 1: pretty hardcore. Yeah, we've seen the Blues brothers. Oh absolutely. Yeah.
- 51:28Speaker 1: We're now at home and he tells the kids that
- 51:30Speaker 1: he has to lie to margin about losing Maga. We
- 51:32Speaker 1: can't let her know. But Maggie's not injured. But she's
- 51:34Speaker 1: been taken into this comment ove. He hasn't necessarily lost her.
- 51:36Speaker 2: No, but it's not a bad setup in terms of like,
- 51:39Speaker 2: oh she well, not just that she's blind, but she
- 51:42Speaker 2: can't be stressed or anything like that.
- 51:44Speaker 1: So yeah, so you can't there's a reason for the
- 51:46Speaker 1: sub to fu That's what thought. I think they've put
- 51:48Speaker 1: a lot of effort into trying to cover cracks, but
- 51:52Speaker 1: I don't want to leave too many threads dangling. Yeah, exactly.
- 51:54Speaker 1: So Lisa suggests she infiltrates or they infiltrate the church
- 51:57Speaker 1: as a pretend. None. Homer says, I will not be
- 51:59Speaker 1: doing that doing it at all, and then it cuts
- 52:02Speaker 1: to him saying, see, I told you what bet be
- 52:04Speaker 1: putting on a dress That seems to be the flavor
- 52:06Speaker 1: of the month at the moment, the jokes where you
- 52:07Speaker 1: think something's gonna happen and then it doesn't.
- 52:08Speaker 2: But traditional, yeah, like I'll never do this something ar
- 52:11Speaker 2: is never never never cut to them doing it, and
- 52:13Speaker 2: it's like, you thought we were going to do that,
- 52:16Speaker 2: old sore, We're not doing it.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I think last week it was well, this is not raining.
- 52:20Speaker 1: She told you it's not raining. Like, ah okay. That
- 52:23Speaker 1: seems to be the gag at the moment, I'm not
- 52:25Speaker 1: sure I like it. When it happens two episodes in
- 52:27Speaker 1: a row, happens up for a lot more. It seems
- 52:30Speaker 1: to be the thing what happens in the Simpsons writers
- 52:32Speaker 1: at the moment, it's like they write three or four
- 52:33Speaker 1: at a time and they go, that's cool, let's just
- 52:35Speaker 1: work it into everything. Homer gets. They get there at
- 52:38Speaker 1: the church, Homer shows it's not a church, that it's comment.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It shows off his costume, but she tells him to
- 52:43Speaker 1: leave so she can get into character, and she turns
- 52:45Speaker 1: her little Darwin chain thing into this what's it called that?
- 52:48Speaker 1: The Jesus fish. What's it called there? I think it's
- 52:50Speaker 1: got Jesus fish. It's just this is something on those lines.
- 52:53Speaker 1: I'm not religious, apologies, it's it's got a name stans
- 52:55Speaker 1: of eye. But she pushes out the word Darwin and
- 52:57Speaker 1: it's it's the Jesus fish. I was just called Jesus fish. Okay.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I'm a lifelong Catholic man. And she claims to be
- 53:05Speaker 1: she Evan's a door. She claims to be a lost,
- 53:06Speaker 1: little sinner who's lost, a little sinner who's lost her way.
- 53:09Speaker 1: And how do you how do you feel about neeling?
- 53:11Speaker 1: I like it, come on in, make me taking many
- 53:14Speaker 1: bad ways. But she says, you must wear your clothes modestly,
- 53:18Speaker 1: not like sister Marilyn as you said you like you're
- 53:20Speaker 1: a big fan. Well, ye're doing her seven year rich
- 53:22Speaker 1: thing of being over the grade and one of the
- 53:24Speaker 1: most iconic visuals in Hollywood history. I would say so. Yeah.
- 53:28Speaker 1: She sees the nursery and the singing the song which
- 53:31Speaker 1: was definitely Maggie Roswell. She's just got their voice. If
- 53:34Speaker 1: you're happy and you know it, that's a sin. She
- 53:36Speaker 1: asked about Maggie because she can't see her in the nursery.
- 53:38Speaker 1: But the sister says that, well, you're looking for I
- 53:41Speaker 1: want to babies or I'm want to preasures or whatever.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I don't worry promise upon us. So in nine months,
- 53:44Speaker 1: this place and me feel from floor to ceiling she
- 53:47Speaker 1: might have you might have something at the back, maybe
- 53:50Speaker 1: because the back you even put it out. Yet this
- 53:52Speaker 1: is me looking for a kitten at the pound. I
- 53:55Speaker 1: felt really dirty asking for a kitten at the pound
- 53:58Speaker 1: because the place is full of cats. Oh yeah, and
- 54:01Speaker 1: you just know that everyone wants a kitten, right And
- 54:04Speaker 1: there's all these catches looking at you and you can
- 54:06Speaker 1: just tal they this none of the anise. They go, yeah, sure, okay,
- 54:09Speaker 1: well kittens are around the corners. Meanwhile, there's like one
- 54:12Speaker 1: hundred catches sitting there going please love me. And I'm like,
- 54:15Speaker 1: you've been I probably would, I would if i'd no kids,
- 54:17Speaker 1: but you've been through some shit. My kids are gonna
- 54:18Speaker 1: want to like touch you on the face and stuff,
- 54:20Speaker 1: and I just know you're not gonna like that.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Even when it happens that I'll be getting another cat,
- 54:23Speaker 2: I'll be getting an older cat.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Yes, that's fine. Though that, Oh yeah, of course, but
- 54:27Speaker 1: get two though that's good questly friends, of course get three? No, two,
- 54:32Speaker 1: you've overdone I did overdo it, yes, but I tried
- 54:35Speaker 1: to get down to two'd be gone. I don't love
- 54:38Speaker 1: you not horrible too. Oh yeah, looked to me like
- 54:44Speaker 1: the fuck? What do you mean? There's a reason that
- 54:47Speaker 1: we all remember that scene from Harry Anderson's Yeah. But
- 54:50Speaker 1: then she says, what are you doubting Thomas as you're
- 54:52Speaker 1: mentioning early more of a curious George, Well, you little monkey,
- 54:54Speaker 1: is time for you to spend some time with the
- 54:55Speaker 1: man in the yellow hat, which was a good line
- 54:57Speaker 1: and accustomed her chatting to an image of Jesus the halo.
- 55:01Speaker 1: And yeah, the jokes are coming thick and fast. Here
- 55:03Speaker 1: wee overall pretty clever. I thought they're quite topical, not topical,
- 55:07Speaker 1: good references that cause, you could say. But Lisa is
- 55:09Speaker 1: now questioning Jesus. Why would Mother Superior? Why would she
- 55:12Speaker 1: lie about Maggie? What's what's she trying to hide? And
- 55:14Speaker 1: then she notices a jewel in the roof, which raises suspicions,
- 55:17Speaker 1: and then another sister says that the jewel will lead
- 55:19Speaker 1: her to Maggie and that she doesn't like the superior
- 55:22Speaker 1: because she always has to be the court back when
- 55:23Speaker 1: are playing football. She says that, Lisa, you must solve
- 55:26Speaker 1: a series of clues, an increasingly difficult series of challenges
- 55:29Speaker 1: to my intellect. I would love this. I love treasure
- 55:33Speaker 1: hunts and shit like that. Not just treasure hunts, but
- 55:35Speaker 1: like just fine shit. It's like go to hear to hear.
- 55:38Speaker 1: My kids love it too. I think I'm really surprised
- 55:40Speaker 1: you don't like mysteries, solving clues and stuff.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Sometimes yes, sometimes it's not. It's not necessarily my first stop.
- 55:49Speaker 1: I'm going to get to the fireworks factory. I do. Yeah.
- 55:51Speaker 1: She points to the first clue, which is a stained
- 55:53Speaker 1: glass window. She says that she's only twenty three, and
- 55:55Speaker 1: then cows to the corner lot of Dracula, which was random,
- 55:58Speaker 1: doesn't really need to be there, and it says cart
- 56:01Speaker 1: daem in coort a at anama, which is to seek
- 56:04Speaker 1: God with heart and soul in Latin, like yes, yeah,
- 56:07Speaker 1: and she notices the organ. She's like, oh, heart and soul.
- 56:10Speaker 1: She plays heart and soul, and the little castle appears,
- 56:13Speaker 1: and a few mechanics like mouse trap all just keeps
- 56:16Speaker 1: going and going and going, this sort of waiting there
- 56:18Speaker 1: patiently but bored. I like the dig here though, at
- 56:21Speaker 1: these kind of movies where you know, a window or
- 56:24Speaker 1: doors opening and just excessive compartments go, which makes absolutely
- 56:28Speaker 1: no sense logically, but they're there for the sake of
- 56:31Speaker 1: they're a fun visual to watch in the absolutely I
- 56:33Speaker 1: don't think it does Jones ever have elaborate things like this,
- 56:36Speaker 1: but quite from seeing films, it's this door slides and
- 56:38Speaker 1: this thing, so it's like, why why are they going
- 56:41Speaker 1: to all this evidence to make all this happen? It
- 56:42Speaker 1: doesn't need to be there.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess most people think of the Indiana Jones
- 56:46Speaker 2: movies when they think of that. They're not quite as
- 56:48Speaker 2: elaborate in Raiders and they like but I think they
- 56:52Speaker 2: certainly have them, and there have been many Raiders knockoffs.
- 56:54Speaker 1: So I think feel like they have to up the
- 56:56Speaker 1: ante a little bit. It's kind of similar to the
- 56:58Speaker 1: next scene here as well, because meanwhile home Marge hasn't
- 57:01Speaker 1: held Maggie for all day, so it's going to be
- 57:02Speaker 1: one day all day, It's only been one fucking day,
- 57:05Speaker 1: and she asked him to hand her to her, so
- 57:08Speaker 1: He then paints his hand. He puts the eyes in
- 57:10Speaker 1: his hand much like cartman hand if a little. It
- 57:12Speaker 1: didn't even really need to do that because it was
- 57:14Speaker 1: Marge're going to see it, I don't think, so that's
- 57:16Speaker 1: my point, My point being that was a joke, visual
- 57:19Speaker 1: joke for the viewer. Yes, because technically Marge can't see anything, okay,
- 57:23Speaker 1: And it was the originally I had. Why is he
- 57:26Speaker 1: closed on she can't see bath? I guess she's closed.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Necessary painting of mouth and eyes not necessarily, But to
- 57:33Speaker 2: quote my man Rainier Wolfcastle, that that's the job.
- 57:35Speaker 1: That is the joke. Yes, And she says, you're not
- 57:37Speaker 1: normally this greedy. And this is where we get the
- 57:38Speaker 1: moment I told you, I think it's just like that
- 57:41Speaker 1: sound was it cartman eating my hand up a piece
- 57:45Speaker 1: of chicken? Oh? Is that chubby baby? But that doesn't
- 57:50Speaker 1: mean that you can't have a little dinner.
- 57:54Speaker 3: Hmmm. Not Usually they're screedy, cool literue, getting suspicious.
- 58:01Speaker 1: You'll call it. I'm hungry. So then the mechanics finally
- 58:06Speaker 1: finished for Lisa, and she finds a crypto message that
- 58:09Speaker 1: says what if I read every other? She says, what
- 58:11Speaker 1: if I read every other word, so it's it's dumbing
- 58:14Speaker 1: it down a bit. But this is a kid show, sure,
- 58:16Speaker 1: so you know younger viewers need this kind of thing.
- 58:18Speaker 1: And by saying that it's basically what they're trying to do,
- 58:21Speaker 1: I feel like Ian and Billy is guy the younger
- 58:24Speaker 1: viewer without saying what it is going, here's what she's
- 58:26Speaker 1: going to be doing. You try and do it as well.
- 58:28Speaker 1: So she reads the first one says one more time.
- 58:30Speaker 1: You're a hopeless numb skull. Right, So she tries again,
- 58:33Speaker 1: but not because the war told hers so, just because
- 58:35Speaker 1: she wants to. And this time it says, turn around,
- 58:36Speaker 1: seek Springfields, the biggest man made ring. She gazes out
- 58:40Speaker 1: the window and a beautiful shot is looking over the
- 58:42Speaker 1: city and she sees lard Lad with his big donut.
- 58:45Speaker 1: She sees smoke clouds coming out of some sort of factory,
- 58:48Speaker 1: the haul of Hoop Repair Center, which is the kind
- 58:49Speaker 1: of thing only would appear to the Simpsons Repair Center.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I like that. And otto otools zero percent down oversized ovals.
- 58:58Speaker 1: I don't get it. Oversized oval, So I thought it was
- 58:59Speaker 1: gonna be overalls. Yeah, what's an oversized oval? Football? Oval?
- 59:03Speaker 1: What was it? Anyway. She doesn't know which one it
- 59:06Speaker 1: is though, which which one is the key to holding
- 59:08Speaker 1: the gem? Cut to the commercial puzzle the second what
- 59:11Speaker 1: Lisa just said? Then we come back from commercial as
- 59:14Speaker 1: the close up of Lisa basically you think she's asking
- 59:15Speaker 1: if you're asking us watching at home, but no, she's
- 59:17Speaker 1: actually asking Meal how. She says, well, did you get it?
- 59:20Speaker 1: Says no, I didn't. Unfortunately, I'm a smart I'm not
- 59:21Speaker 1: a smart note, I'm just a weak one, late brother.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Lisa then realizes the biggest ring in Springfield comes from
- 59:27Speaker 1: the ball in the bell tower. Now I'll get to
- 59:30Speaker 1: that in a few moments. Is actually a link here
- 59:32Speaker 1: to National Treasure. So she sees a keep out sign
- 59:35Speaker 1: or enter I'm not a cop. She goes in and
- 59:37Speaker 1: we see two people in cloaks following her. Now at home,
- 59:40Speaker 1: Marge kisses Bart good night. I guess I could enjoy
- 59:44Speaker 1: the fact that this was a fun b plot where
- 59:46Speaker 1: it was only it wasn't much of the episode. No,
- 59:49Speaker 1: every bit sort of made sense. It was nice, but
- 59:53Speaker 1: Bart's making a genuine effort to try and keep the
- 59:54Speaker 1: charade going. Absolutely yeah, So she says a time for
- 59:57Speaker 1: she I'll be there in a minute. Lisa. She kisses
- 59:58Speaker 1: Bart good night. He jumps out the window, who fixes
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: his hair up, puts her clothes on case, she touches it.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Blah blah blah. She says, good night. Lisa is the reply.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: The one thing you can't do is the voice. The voice.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: So he things quick and he gets the saxophone out.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Now Marge doing the scatting to the sacks. I was like, aw, whatever,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: but no thinking on his feet. I didn't mind that.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Then we see the cloaked figures looking for Lisa. When
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: they walked in, I liked that I could tell who
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: it was just from their mouths. And I don't know
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: whether that means they're really well designed or I'm just
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: a super nerd a weak nerd both, a little column
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: a little combe possibly, yeah. But Lisa confronts them. The
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: turns that the comic book guy and Skinner and they
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: are also seeking the gem of Saint Theresa because they're
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: from an ancient order of history, buffs who hide in
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: the shadows and call themselves the Brethren of the Quest
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: because they do their slothing in mothers. This isissan quest Minivan.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Lisa asked them to tell them all that they know.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Skinner refuses until she says, does mother know about this
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: van being used? And of course he start telling her
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: the story. And legend has it that on her deathbed,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Saint Teresa of Avila had a vision of a jewel
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: that would usher in an era of peace and harmony.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: She dispatched a team of to the New World to
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: see the gem. To seek the gem, I should say,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: And then we get footage of the nuns. This was
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: so wacky. I thought you would have enjoyed this. The
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: nuns being pirates on a pirate ship using their rulers,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: swords and whatnot. Yeah, and they landed on what is
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: now Philadelphia and the Philadelphia fanatic fanatic Yeah, with the
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: pH Yeah, with a phys the mascot from the baseball team.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Then they turned their ship Timber into the convent. They
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: like that. They flipped the ship upside down and they
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: began the content. That was all right. Yeah, I thought
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: everything was good in this. And Benjamin Franklin overhears their messages.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: They're talking about it their their mission, and he and
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: the other Freemasons like George Washington and King George the Third,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: they all staged a phony wall of independence to cover
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: up their search for the gem so wacky. I didn't
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: mind it though. Yeah, and then the nuns then fled
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: and they built, they built Springfield or they just set
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: shop in Springfield. I think they just set up shops,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: set up shoppel near the Springfield sign. Anyway. I think
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: they's up building the sign, which is sure the Springfield
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Sign wasn't quite finished. I missed that part. I was
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: right near the Springfield sign anyway.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Legend and Wikipedia have it that the gem will be
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: revealed during the first full moon after a Shuler eclipse.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: That's tonight. One question remains, why did you come here?
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Because I cleverly deduced the answer to Springfield's biggest ring.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: It gives me no pleasure to see You're a deduction
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: was forty.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: This is a fake peoper machine bell. I have not
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: seen National Treasure. Assume you right. Films that I have
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: been told are really really enjoyable, really really fun. They
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: made a second one kind of fun. Now. Apparently it's
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: a liberty bell used in the film. And it's similar
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to this, where it's not real or something like it's
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: a twist or a turn. It's been a long time
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: since I've seen the National Treasure movies. But apparently this
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: bell is a reference to the Liberty Bell. Now, as
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: he says here that this bell here is paper macheame.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: The real one was melted down in World War II
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: to make Civil War chest sets. Lisa then looks out
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: and finally noticed the biggest ring comic book. Guy. Oh,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I see it too. Skinner is looking for it. He
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: can't quite see it. No, he's saying that he sees it. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: as he leaves. I liked this right. So when he arrives,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Skinner then says, oh, the word ring. Now older viewers
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: would go well, obviously, but younger viewers need this, I
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: think because if you maybe you can't read a bit
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: older you can't read as well. If you can't read,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: you would have no idea what's happening now. So you
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: need to have him say that just to make sure
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: the little kids watching can follow along as well. And
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I thought it's really nice, As I said, a family
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: could really sit down and enjoy this. I think it's
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: a really fun mystery. Good for you. King of the Kids.

- 1:04:01Speaker 1: dot com slash four finger discount. Unfortunately, they get there
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: and mister Burns and Smithers are there with the hounds
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: if it isn't the Tardi Boys and Nancy clueless, and
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: he's known about the gem for years. He joined the
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Freemasons before it was trendy. His eyes on the dollar
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: bill and also that is his pyramid on the bill
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: as well. He then makes a joke about Smithers being
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: in Albina, which I didn't get at first, but then
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I'll wait a minute. It's the Da Vinci code. It
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: is a character Silas Silas played by Paul Bettany. Yeah,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: also known as ultrom No Visions, Vision Yes Master and
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Commander Beautiful Mind, Oh Yes, Beautiful Mind of course, Yeah,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: but mostly known for mostly known as Vision these days
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: of course, yep. But yeah, so that's a reference to Silas,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: which I thought first, I'm like, Albina, what the hell
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: is going on here? But you know, da Vinci code
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: in case you didn't know, you guys playing at home. Least,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Then Sea's writing on the big Springfield letters, great crimes
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Kill Holy Sage, and Skinner says to one the sage,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: you must go warn them. At least, the points out
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: that a secret message, this awkwardly worded is always nanogram
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: in these movies and whatnot. It's mister Burns to that's
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: a very DaVinci code thing. I think that's I think
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: those books are full of anagrams. And yeah. So then
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: mister Burns tells her to unscram with the letters to
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: spout the location of the gem, while Skinner and Comic
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: book Guy dig their own graves, and comic book Guy
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: calls on a help of Superman. I believes in you
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: for years, Please can help me dig this giant grave.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Then finally the final commercial, now and can you try
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: and figure out the answer because we can't. We come
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: back and Lisa are spelt it out. It is regally
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: the rock Gem is Lisa and mister Burns's first things
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: that gem is inside of her. He's going to cut
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: her over, but this points out and know that she
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: is the gem, and he agrees. And since Saint Theresa
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: wouldn't want a bobble, she'd want a pure young girl,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: a pretty dark gay here. Of course, Saint Teresa wouldn't
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: be interested in the mere bubble. Her greatest treasure would
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: be a pure young girl. You are pure? Aren't you
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: just kissing male house count? No?
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: No?
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Oh? Oh shit does kissing meal house count?
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: No?
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Doesn't count at all. Then she thinks that she'll bring
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: well peace, And how brilliant of God to remove by
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: skepticism by making me the trasen one. So you're saying
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: earlier it's all about Lisa all the time. So she's
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: a bit sort of arrogant here. But comic book Guy
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: points out that the gem must be brought to the
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: convent by sunrise, which is not too far away. So
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: they agreed to take Burns's helicopter, but the most dangle
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: from the skids, and Smither says it feels good to
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: help someone doesn't, and he says, no, it feels weird.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I don't know why Smithers and Burns would help them,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: I guess because Smithers wants world peace. I like to
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: think this here wasn't Burns is doing this with Smithers
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: doing it. That they dropped them off, and I thought
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: they're going to cush into the convent because they sort
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: of trail off and look like they're going to crash.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: But that's the last we see of Burns and Smithers,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: and then the nuns are singing, Oh fortuna, which is
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Shit's about to go down. It's very epic. Well, I
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: remember they stole this or they tweaked it. They put
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: a clock in it for the This ad is big,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: one of the most iconic os ads of all time.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Culton draft. You haven't seen it, check it out, Culton Draft.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: This ad is big ad? Was it? This ad? Better
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: sell beer costs of money? That? Yeah, yes, it's a
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: good ad, and at least interrupts them as they're singing.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: But they're not fussed with her at all because the
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: gem is actually Maggie. She points out how Lisa, it
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: was wrong, how many sentences to start with the word regular,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: And I've oh, I'm glad this makes I'm glad They
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: pointed this out because it didn't say it didn't make
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: sense to you. It didn't at all. No, and this
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: this sass because it actually reads, it's really Maggie Sherlock.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Now this sass actually works because the clues have been
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: kind of sassy throughout because the first one, remember said
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: a nuts scar. Now she says here, well, only makes
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: sense if I get the answer wrong first. Maybe however,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: I thought I thought that at first, right, But then
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I think that there's a case to be argue that
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: the whole time they were searching for a physical gem.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: So by saying it's really Maggie actually works as well,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: whether Lisa gets it right or wrong. Her point because
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: they're looking for a physical gem, that's true, and it
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: says it's really Maggie. It works both ways. But because
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: they're looking for a stone, it's like, it's really Maggie,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: you're a stone. You make a very persuasive argument. But
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: the sun rises, and so begins a new era of
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: peace and prosperity in Springfield. A rainbow cast across the town.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: The owners of discount mattresses and matches for less embrace,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: The postman and the dog start loving each other. The
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: referee and the player start kissing, and then Snake's electric
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: electric chair set to massage, and then four centuries of
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: patients have finally paid off. But Marge arrives to reclaim
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: her baby because a mother knows, because she said, how
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: do you know? Now? Look, it's kind of lazy, it's
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: lazy out explaining that Marge is there. She just knows.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: But who'll we to question a mother? Story wise, we're
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: not into it. Emotionally, of course we're into it. I mean,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: she she didn't first. I thought she got there by herself,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: but we latter see the Homer drove her there at least,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: but she somehow knew. Well, Hope would have had an idea,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: because he was the one that planted least. They're in
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: the first place. That's true, so it kind of makes sense.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: But when she picks her up, all the peace stops,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: the lights go down. Lisa says she must stay here
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: because she's the gem, and there's been reports of even
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: less road rage in Shelbyville, and Marge thinks about it,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: it would be nice if the first thing I saw
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: was a world at peace. When she takes the blindfold off,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: and then Maggie takes off the blindfold and she says
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: she's even more beautiful than she remembered. Very nice moment.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: That's sweet. I'm sorry, but I know God would never
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: ask a mother to sacrifice her child for the good
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: of the world. Again, that was well played, right, because
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: normally the paus wouldn't be there. Right. Normally it would
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: just be the first bit without the again, because the
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: joke would usually be the viewer knows that it's happened,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and Marge's a bit oblivious. But Marge acknowledging it came
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: out of nowhere for me, and I liked it. They
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: added a little bit, oh is there something different to
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: the usual? Usually it's like this, Marge will say that
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: first bit without the again and you go, ah to
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: see the thing is though, that's what really happened with Jesus,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: you know, we're.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: And I think I prefer the again to say, sort
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: of like a little fourth wall break or something like that,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: which I might throw in, But no, I think I like.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: The again looking at the camera or whatever. Yeah, you
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: get that. Marge thinks she may be being selfish. On
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: the way home. She says, my being selfish here it
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: could be well. Peace, but I want to my daughter
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: back and says, no, I don't worry. You're the most
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: giving soul that I know. And besides, he gave them
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: another gem. Child who sit on the precious throne turns
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: out to be bart and when he goes up there
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: or how literally breaks loose. Indeed, yes, and that is
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: the end of the episode. A pretty out there ending,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: but for a cannon episode anyway. But let's just run
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: with it for the sake of a cartoon. And there
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: are more things in life to actually worry about. Indeed,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: what do we learn, Bomber? I think I learned that
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: you take the fox, then you take the chicken, then
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: you take the grain, or come back and you drop
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: the fox. I'm gonna have to google it, but Google
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: has just bribed my brain. But luckily I've never had
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: a fox, a chicken, or a boat at any at
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: any one time. So it's okay, Robbers a forward. Your
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: names will be all right. It's time for the Guy
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Davis New Name Championship for season twenty. The current leaderboard
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: stands at this in first position, we have Philip Jay
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Hawkins on fifteen points. In second position, his name is
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Jared Jared Hornby on fourteen and in third position Brian
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Hughesy Hughes on eleven. Take it away, sir, I will
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: take it away. One point goes to force of habit.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Not bad. That's quite clever, Oh clever. Car Kyle in
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: fourth position on nine points, World done, sir. Two points
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: goes too total eclipse of the march. Not bad. That
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: is our man rand himself, Dave Randall McNally that Dave
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Prenzels McNelly, no coll him m mcnallly as well. Okay,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: then make me thirsty. He's now on three points. World done,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Dave nice Dave. Three points goes to the dough benchy code.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Dough always wins, it always does, wife and the land
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: by season twenty guys, gotta throw doe in there. How
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: you get the money? Yeah? But does the bread.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: I'm trying to draw all these desparate threads together about
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: bread and dough and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: You did it for me, so I appreciate you. That
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: is Nathan Briggs. There we go, Nathan Briggs with his
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: first three pointer. Briggsy Ever, I'm not too sure definitely
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: for the season. He's now on four points. Weld on
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Nathan Briggs. So the leader board hasn't changed. It's none
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: of the top three go any points. So it's still
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Philip Jay Horgan's fifteen, Jared Hornby fourteen, and Brian hugh'sy
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Hughes on eleven, but Clever Kyle is up by one point.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: He's now on nine. A nice, well done, guys. Be
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: part of the Guy Davis New Name Championship. Just gonna

- 1:13:18Speaker 1: twenty we shall be reviewing is in the Name of
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: the Grandfather, and it looks like the next classic episode
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: we shall be reviewing as voted by the patrons. Because
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: it's a Star Wars month. They made the fourths upon us,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: and I said, any episode. I put up a poll
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: four episodes that have since our Star Wars references in
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: at least one Star Wars reference, and I thought Mad
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: to the Mob would win because Mark Hamill makes the
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: guest appearance, but no, it came second in the poll
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: and it lost to the Springfield Connection, which is where
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Marge becomes the police officer. So we can come to
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: reviewing that one as that classic review for this month. Nice.
