Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / NASCAR Fans From The 1990's Are Heartbroken
Transcript
- 0:02Been studying a lot of race fans lately.
- 0:06The ones that say they don't like NASCAR.
- 0:10I don't believe that. I don't think these fans don't
- 0:15like NASCAR. This is about heartbreak.
- 0:19Let me do my very best. This is something I just got
- 0:22done reading an article with Kyle Busch.
- 0:25Kyle Busch said The fans from the 90s are most likely gone and
- 0:30will never come back. You have the diehard fans of
- 0:32NASCAR, of the Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, Terry
- 0:37Labonte, Mark Martin, Harry Gant, you name it, guys from the
- 0:4190s, mid 90s, late 90s, all of that and our world now today of
- 0:48the 2024 is a lot different fan base of following along.
- 0:52We, I don't feel like we were able to transition a lot of the
- 0:55fans that were fans of those drivers, of the names that I
- 0:58just mentioned into a William Byron fan or into a Kyle fan or
- 1:04into whoever, You know, they kind of probably went away and
- 1:08just stopped following as much, Which is hard to say because
- 1:13honestly, like when you look at NASCAR, the fans love the
- 1:17drivers, like the driver star power, that's what brings people
- 1:20to the racetrack is the drivers. So I want to thank Kyle Busch
- 1:23for giving me that content. After 10 minutes of thinking
- 1:29about what Kyle Busch he's brilliant and he's true.
- 1:32And I did my own math. So NASCAR said the height the
- 1:38highest NASCAR ever was was 2006 and that was Dale Earnhardt
- 1:42Junior. So one would think that when we
- 1:45lost Dale Senior, that would have been it.
- 1:47But no, that's not true. 2006 was the height of NASCAR.
- 1:53So let's go through the psychology here and and a little
- 1:57bit of math. I see people right now so happy.
- 2:03They are they're they're like this.
- 2:06I'm going to imitate them. Look, haha, there's nobody in
- 2:10the grandstands. NASCAR's failing.
- 2:15I I couldn't ever figure out this psychology.
- 2:17Why would the people that love NASCAR pay so much attention to
- 2:23the grandstands? Why don't they watch the race?
- 2:27It's heartbreak. So what I've learned, and I'm a
- 2:31button, all this up here for you, What I've learned is let's
- 2:35take 1995, let's just say 951995 to 2005.
- 2:42What is that 19 years ago? 2005 to 2015 is 10 years.
- 2:49Yeah, 19 years ago. Let's say, let's take, let's
- 2:53just take a round Number, let's take 20.
- 2:55Let's go with 20 years. OK, Dale, senior's been gone for
- 2:59over 20 years. So let's just say you were
- 3:03fifty. You're over 70 years old now.
- 3:09Every person that I talk to that is of age, they go, yeah, I
- 3:13don't, I don't even watch NASCAR anymore.
- 3:15You know, Earnhardt's gone, Rusty's gone.
- 3:18Their drivers are gone, so I don't think the racing's bad.
- 3:24I think the racing's better, but we're dealing with heartbreak
- 3:28here. I believe people are heartbroken
- 3:33and I believe Kyle Busch is right.
- 3:35The fans from the 90s, when we lost Earnhardt and Rusty left
- 3:40and Tony Stewart left and Dale Junior left, and you know, Chase
- 3:45L, it's a big key because when Chase does not run good that
- 3:49that's bad. Because for some reason people
- 3:52still live through Chase Elliott.
- 3:55They kind of see Bill, listen, I'm going to say it right here,
- 3:58take this. Chase Elliott is the last of the
- 4:02Mohicans. He's the last bloodline through
- 4:06the great driver. In other words, you know, the
- 4:11Wallace era is gone. That's done.
- 4:14The Waltrip era is gone. That's done.
- 4:17The Petty era is gone. That's done.
- 4:20The last bloodline of of of those drivers.
- 4:24Stop and think about it. Reply right here if I'm wrong is
- 4:28Chase Elliott. Bill Elliott, Awesome.
- 4:31Bill from Dawsonville. He's the last one left.
- 4:35I just thought about that. As I'm telling this, I don't
- 4:40think it's NASCAR whatsoever. Actually, I'm positive most of
- 4:46you right now. When I stopped at that VFW hall
- 4:52at Bristol, we we landed, I went to the VFW hall and all those
- 4:56older people in there, they knew who I was.
- 4:59They were excited. They met me at the door.
- 5:01Yes, they did. Kenny, we watch you on Facebook.
- 5:05We love that coffee with Kenny. I don't watch NASCAR anymore
- 5:09because my guys are gone. See what I'm saying?
- 5:14They're heartbroken. So I agree with Kyle Bush.
- 5:18The fans from the 90s, they're gone.
- 5:21They're probably never going to come back.
- 5:24And here's the issue. The new kids, they don't give a
- 5:28flying about anything. They are on their own island.
- 5:32They're into their phones, they're into TikTok.
- 5:37And this new group, they're just, you know, I mean you see
- 5:41it all across the board in all type of sports.
- 5:43So the crowd, this Bristol race was way bigger, way better.
- 5:51Yes, it was, yes it was. But yet people were were still
- 5:56enamored. Race was awesome, but it was
- 6:00still the the disgruntled crowd. Look, look, look, see, I'm not
- 6:05there. Look, they're not there.
- 6:06So that it makes them feel better.
- 6:08It's kind of like Misery loves company, right?
- 6:12It's kind. It's kind of like when people
- 6:13go, why is there nobody in the grandstands?
- 6:16And I'm like, well, that's simple, 'cause you're not there,
- 6:20get it? It's you.
- 6:22So I believe that we had to get rid of seats because when we
- 6:28lost that era, those fans were heartbroke and they just left
- 6:32and they're never going to be back.
- 6:34So this is what we got. Time heals all wounds.
- 6:40We have moved on and now this is it.
- 6:43We are in a new era. This era is much smaller than
- 6:47the last era. That's it.
- 6:50It's official. If you've made it 6 minutes, I'm
- 6:53going to wrap it up. It's been over 20 years since we
- 6:57lost the great Dale Senior. Those fans are heartbroke.
- 7:00They're gone. Plus, Dale Junior quit racing.
- 7:03Tony Stewart quit. There's no bloodline left.
- 7:07I truly believe that if Chase Elliott was winning right now,
- 7:10there might be a bigger fan base.
- 7:12But I did something a trackside live that shocked me.
- 7:15We had to kill about 30 seconds. I said, who's going to win the
- 7:18race today? Chase Elliott.
- 7:22And it shocked me, the fans went clap, clap, Boo.
- 7:26And I went, whoa, what? What's going on out here?
- 7:31So I feel bad that Chase Elliott, that you all have put
- 7:35this much pressure on Chase Elliott.
- 7:36He's a champion. You fans got to give chase a
- 7:40break that that is, that is not his fault that that he's that
- 7:45his car is not running that good right now.
- 7:47You all are putting too much pressure on the last bloodline
- 7:51in racing. Dale Dale's Dale Junior can only
- 7:56do so much, everybody. So I'm just going to say this is
- 8:01it. Everybody's heart broke and and
- 8:06the new fan base is not as adamant.
- 8:08They don't care about cars. Hell they don't even have a car.
- 8:12They they what do they call that Uber.
- 8:15They Uber everywhere. The love for the car is gone.
- 8:21It's just a new era And I want to thank Kyle Bush actually Kyle
- 8:24Bush is going to be on Kenny conversation.
- 8:27Yes he is. He's going to be on here early
- 8:29April along with Danica Patrick. We got some big ones in the
- 8:34pipeline, but thank you Kyle for saying that.
- 8:36You made me think it's a numbers game.
- 8:39If you love the NASCAR in 1998, that means you're you're almost
- 8:4780 years old and and you're just you're of age now and you're
- 8:50tired and you're not going to go to these races.
- 8:52So that's it. We just realized we just broke
- 8:55it down and and actually Kyle Busch is pretty brilliant.
- 8:58He's right. The fans from the 90s, y'all are
- 9:01gone. Kind of sad.
- 9:03Kind of sad. All right.
- 9:05Respond right here.
