Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 16th.
• 0:11
Stay on the path. Have you ever tried walking
• 0:13
through your house in total darkness?
• 0:15
You move slower, your hands reach out just in case, and
• 0:18
every step feels uncertain. You're tense because you don't
• 0:22
know what's in front of you. Life feels the same way.
• 0:24
When you drift from God's wisdom, things that once felt
• 0:28
clear become confusing. Choices that seemed small start
• 0:31
to trip you up, and before you realize it, you're wondering how
• 0:34
you got so off balance. In Proverbs chapter 4, verses 11
• 0:38
to 12, God speaks like a loving guide who knows the terrain
• 0:42
ahead. He says, I have taught you the
• 0:44
way of wisdom. I have led you in the paths of
• 0:47
uprightness. When you walk, your step will
• 0:49
not be Hanford, and if you run, you will not stumble.
• 0:52
Notice what God promises. Not a life without movement,
• 0:56
pressure, or effort, but a path where you can walk and even run
• 0:59
without constantly falling. Wisdom doesn't remove the
• 1:02
journey, it makes the journey steadier.
• 1:05
Then Jesus adds A sobering picture.
• 1:07
In Matthew chapter 13, he tells a story about a farmer who
• 1:11
plants good seed. But while everyone is sleeping,
• 1:14
an enemy sneaks in and plants weeds among the wheat.
• 1:17
The danger wasn't obvious at first.
• 1:19
The field looked fine. Growth was happening, but over
• 1:22
  time, the weeds revealed themselves.
• 1:25
That's how distraction and compromise often work.
• 1:28
They don't always show up loud or alarming.
• 1:30
They creep in quietly when we stop paying attention, when we
• 1:33
get spiritually comfortable, or when we assume we'll notice
• 1:36
problems before they matter. Staying on God's path isn't
• 1:40
  about fear. It's about focus.
• 1:43
It's choosing to stay awake spiritually.
• 1:45
It's guarding what influences your thoughts, your values, and
• 1:48
your habits. The enemy loves subtlety, but
• 1:51
wisdom keeps you alert. God's Word acts like a light
• 1:54
that exposes what doesn't belong before it takes root.
• 1:57
The truth is, everyone is on a path.
• 2:00
The question is, who's guiding your steps?
• 2:02
God's path may not always be the easiest or the most popular, but
• 2:06
it is the safest. It protects you from regret you
• 2:09
don't see coming and from detours that cost more than you
• 2:12
expect. When you stay close to God's
• 2:14
wisdom, your life may still face challenges, but you won't walk
• 2:18
blindly through them. You don't stay on the path by
• 2:21
accident. You stay on it by choosing God
• 2:23
daily, listening carefully, and refusing to drift just because
• 2:27
it's easier. Wisdom keeps you steady.
• 2:30
God keeps you guarded. And when you stay on His path,
• 2:33
you discover that even in a Dark World, your steps can be sure.
• 2:36
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:39
teaching me the way of wisdom and leading me on the right
• 2:41
path. Help me stay spiritually awake
• 2:44
and alert, not distracted or careless with my heart.
• 2:48
Show me anything that doesn't belong in my life and give me
• 2:51
the courage to remove it. I choose your way over every
• 2:54
shortcut and I trust you to guide my steps every day.
• 2:57
In Jesus name, Amen. What if the ache you feel for
• 3:01
more is actually God calling you deeper?

• 4:21
Proverbs chapter 4 verses 10 to 19 World English Bible.
• 4:26
Listen my son, and receive my sayings.
• 4:28
The years of your life will be many.
• 4:30
I have taught you in the way of wisdom.
• 4:32
I have led you in straight paths.
• 4:34
When you go, your steps will not be Hanford.
• 4:37
When you run, you will not stumble.
• 4:39
Take firm hold of instruction. Don't let her go.
• 4:42
Keep her, for she is your life. Don't enter into the path of the
• 4:45
wicked. Don't walk in the way of evil
• 4:47
men. Avoid it and don't pass by it.
• 4:50
Turn from it and pass on. For they don't sleep unless they
• 4:53
do evil. Their sleep is taken away unless
• 4:55
they make someone fall, for they eat the bread of wickedness and
• 4:59
drink the wine of violence. But the path of the righteous is
• 5:02
like the dawning light that shines more and more until the
• 5:04
perfect day. The way of the wicked is like
• 5:07
darkness. They don't know what they
• 5:09
stumble over. Matthew Chapter 13 World English
• 5:12
Bible On that day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the
• 5:16
  seaside. Great multitudes gathered to
• 5:18
him, so that he entered into a boat and sat, and all the
• 5:22
multitudes stood on the beach. He spoke to them many things in
• 5:25
parables, saying, Behold, a farmer went out to sow.
• 5:29
As he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came
• 5:32
and devoured them. Others fell on rocky ground
• 5:36
where they didn't have much soil, and immediately they
• 5:38
sprang up because they had no depth of earth.
• 5:41
When the sun had risen, they were scorched.
• 5:43
Because they had no root, they withered away.
• 5:46
Others fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and choked
• 5:49
them. Others fell on good soil and
• 5:51
yielded fruit some 100 times as much, some 60 and some 30.
• 5:56
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
• 5:58
The disciples came and said to him, Why do you speak to them in
• 6:01
parables? He answered them to you.
• 6:04
It is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of
• 6:06
heaven, but it is not given to them.
• 6:08
For whoever has to Him will be given, and he will have
• 6:11
abundance, but whoever doesn't have from him will be taken away
• 6:14
even that which He has. Therefore I speak to them in
• 6:18
parables because seeing they don't see, and hearing they
• 6:21
don't hear, neither do they understand.
• 6:23
In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says by
• 6:26
hearing you will hear and will in no way understand.
• 6:29
Seeing you will see, and will in no way perceive.
• 6:32
For this people's heart has grown callous.
• 6:34
Their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes,
• 6:37
or else perhaps they might perceive with their eyes, hear
• 6:40
with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn
• 6:43
again, and I would heal them. But blessed are your eyes for
• 6:46
they see, and your ears for they hear.
• 6:49
For most certainly I tell you that many prophets and righteous
• 6:52
men desired to see the things which you see, and didn't see
• 6:55
them, and to hear the things which you hear and didn't hear
• 6:58
them hear. Then the parable of the farmer.
• 7:01
When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom and doesn't
• 7:03
understand it, the evil 1 comes and snatches away that which has
• 7:07
been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the
• 7:10
roadside, what was sown on the rocky places.
• 7:13
This is he who hears the word and immediately with joy
• 7:16
receives it. Yet he has no root in himself,
• 7:19
but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution
• 7:22
arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
• 7:25
What was sown among the thorns? This is he who hears the word,
• 7:29
but the cares of this age and the deceitfulness of riches
• 7:32
choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
• 7:35
What was sown on the good ground.
• 7:36
This is he who hears the word and understands it, who most
• 7:39
certainly bears fruit, and produces some 100 times as much,
• 7:43
some 60 and some 30. He said another parable before
• 7:47
them, saying, The Kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed
• 7:50
good seed in his field, but while people slept, his enemy
• 7:53
came and sowed darnall weeds also among the wheat and went
• 7:56
away. But when the blade sprang up and
• 7:58
produced grain, then the Darnell weeds appeared also.
• 8:01
The servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir,
• 8:04
didn't you sow good seed in your field?
• 8:06
Where did these Darnell weeds come from?
• 8:08
He said to them, An enemy has done this.
• 8:11
The servants asked him, Do you want us to go and gather them
• 8:13
up? But he said no, lest perhaps
• 8:16
while you gather up the Darnell weeds you root up the wheat with
• 8:18
them. Let both grow together until the
• 8:21
harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers first
• 8:25
gather up the Darnell weeds and bind them in bundles to burn
• 8:28
them, but gather the wheat into my barn.
• 8:31
He said another parable before them, saying the Kingdom of
• 8:34
heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took
• 8:37
and sowed in his field, which indeed is smaller than all
• 8:40
seeds, but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and
• 8:44
becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge
• 8:47
in its branches. He spoke another parable to
• 8:50
them. The Kingdom of heaven is like
• 8:52
yeast which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until
• 8:56
it was all leavened. Jesus spoke all these things in
• 8:59
parables to the multitudes, and without a parable.
• 9:02
He didn't speak to them that it might be fulfilled, which was
• 9:05
spoken through the prophet saying, I will open my mouth in
• 9:08
parables. I will utter things hidden from
• 9:11
the foundation of the world. Then Jesus sent the multitudes
• 9:14
away and went into the house. His disciples came to him
• 9:18
saying, Explain to us the parable of the darnall weeds of
• 9:21
the field. He answered them, He who sows
• 9:24
the good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good
• 9:28
seeds are the children of the Kingdom, and the darnall weeds
• 9:30
are the children of the evil. 1 The enemy who sowed them is the
• 9:34
devil, The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are
• 9:37
angels. As therefore the Darnall weeds
• 9:40
are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end
• 9:43
of this age. The Son of Man will send out his
• 9:46
angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all things that
• 9:49
cause stumbling, and those who do iniquity and will cast them
• 9:53
into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and
• 9:56
gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine
• 9:58
like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.
• 10:00
He who has ears to hear, let him hear again.
• 10:04
The Kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in the field
• 10:06
which a man found and hid in his joy.
• 10:09
He goes and sells all that he has and buys that field again.
• 10:13
The Kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking
• 10:16
fine pearls, who having found one Pearl of great price, he
• 10:20
went and sold all that he had and bought it again.
• 10:23
The Kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the
• 10:26
sea and gathered some fish of every kind, which when it was
• 10:29
filled, fishermen drew up on the beach.
• 10:32
They sat down and gathered the good into containers, but the
• 10:35
bad they threw away. So it will be in the end of the
• 10:38
world. The angels will come and
• 10:40
separate the wicked from among the righteous, and will cast
• 10:43
them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and
• 10:46
gnashing of teeth. Jesus said to them, Have you
• 10:49
understood all these things? They answered him, Yes, Lord, He
• 10:53
said to them, Therefore every scribe who has been made a
• 10:55
disciple in the Kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a
• 10:58
householder who brings out of his treasure new and old things.
• 11:02
When Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from
• 11:05
there, coming into his own country.
• 11:07
He taught them in their synagogue so that they were
• 11:09
astonished and said, Where did this man get this wisdom and
• 11:13
these mighty works? Isn't this the carpenter's son?
• 11:16
Isn't his mother called Mary and his brothers James, Jose is
• 11:20
Simon, and Judas? Aren't all of his sisters with
• 11:22
us? Where then did this man get all
• 11:24
of these things? They were offended by him, but
• 11:27
Jesus said to them, a prophet is not without honor except in his
• 11:31
own country and in his own house.
• 11:33
He didn't do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
