- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gaddigal Land Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hey Chicks, I'm sal and I'm out and this is
- 0:14Speaker 2: two Broke Chicks, a show that shares life lessons and
- 0:16Speaker 2: tips to help make you rich in life. And today
- 0:19Speaker 2: we are joined by professional makeup artists and hairstylist and
- 0:23Speaker 2: our love, the light of our life, our Mamager, honestly
- 0:29Speaker 2: our number one fan from the beginning, Susan Lilian, with
- 0:33Speaker 2: almost twenty years experience. Susan is going to be talking
- 0:37Speaker 2: to us all about the beauty tips that we wish
- 0:39Speaker 2: we knew sooner, including how to make your makeup last longer,
- 0:43Speaker 2: budget makeup products you need in your beauty bag, and
- 0:46Speaker 2: the overhyped products that maybe aren't worth your money.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Spicy Huy chicks, Hey, this is amazing. Look at us.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Oh my god, it's been a long time coming.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Like we were saying, we are absolutely obset with the AAR.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But I love having like friends on the show because
- 1:03Speaker 1: I feel like the conversations we can actually ask you
- 1:06Speaker 1: the spicy questions, which is good. So I want to
- 1:08Speaker 1: start with a very very popular, popular one that we
- 1:13Speaker 1: had come through and it is what step in people's
- 1:17Speaker 1: makeup routine. Are they skipping or doing wrong in their
- 1:21Speaker 1: everyday makeup that they don't realize?
- 1:24Speaker 4: Okay, so this is a skincare step, not a makeup step.
- 1:28Speaker 4: But this skincare step will make your makeup look phenomenal.
- 1:32Speaker 4: And it's exfoliating liquid exfoliating. So doing that once or
- 1:37Speaker 4: twice a week or even before a special event is
- 1:39Speaker 4: the way to go. And it's like what celebrity artists
- 1:42Speaker 4: do for their clients to make sure that their skin
- 1:44Speaker 4: looks so smooth and bright. Removes the dead skin, and
- 1:48Speaker 4: anything you put on top like adheres and stays on
- 1:51Speaker 4: the skin much better, and your makeup lasts a lot
- 1:53Speaker 4: longer when you do it that way.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So is it better when people like derm a plaine
- 1:58Speaker 1: their face for their makeup.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it is. Yes, It's like just painting on a
- 2:02Speaker 4: clean canvas. So it actually is. I don't want to
- 2:05Speaker 4: have a special event maybe like you know, four times
- 2:08Speaker 4: a year when I can be bothered, but you know,
- 2:10Speaker 4: I'm definitely doing my mow every week.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Exactly. My oops, he's back.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I've edited a mustache on my face before, and I
- 2:26Speaker 1: look really good with one.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I bet you actually would.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Be really really good as a guy. Yeah, so the
- 2:32Speaker 1: step that people are skipping and therefore they make.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Up looks like yes, yeah, skin prep, skin prep, and
- 2:38Speaker 4: also I would recommend like it's the application process too.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Okay, this is what I wanted to I wanted to
- 2:44Speaker 1: talk because I didn't realize we've got to put it in.
- 2:47Speaker 1: How do you apply your makeup brush, beauty blender or fingers?
- 2:52Speaker 3: You could do all three. You could do one depends
- 2:54Speaker 3: on what you're what you're wanting.
- 2:55Speaker 4: So for like a nice light makeup or you know,
- 2:59Speaker 4: something that blends in seamlessly, you're going to use the
- 3:01Speaker 4: heat of your hands to kind of melt.
- 3:03Speaker 3: That product into the skin.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Then you can go on top and actually press the
- 3:07Speaker 4: product into the skin with a beauty blender to make.
- 3:10Speaker 3: It look flawless.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Or you could opt for swapping at your hands to
- 3:15Speaker 4: a brush and like I like to use a kind
- 3:17Speaker 4: of dome flat brush that's densely packed and then that
- 3:20Speaker 4: will actually add a lot of coverage onto the skin
- 3:23Speaker 4: and then press it in with a beauty blender.
- 3:26Speaker 1: So beauty blender is like the finisher, So for a
- 3:28Speaker 1: more natural look, fingers then press it with beauty blender
- 3:32Speaker 1: for a more full coverage brush, then press in with
- 3:35Speaker 1: beauty blender.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yep, that's the go.
- 3:37Speaker 4: And then at the very end you want to actually
- 3:40Speaker 4: like to really seal the deal with your powders. You
- 3:43Speaker 4: want to have a powder puff and actually press the
- 3:46Speaker 4: powder into the skin. So that's to get the most
- 3:49Speaker 4: longevity in your routine. If you do want like a
- 3:52Speaker 4: light finish, you can use a light fluffy brush to
- 3:55Speaker 4: put a bit of.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Powder on the skin. But if you really want to
- 3:58Speaker 3: lock that in, press a powder on top of your
- 4:01Speaker 3: on top of you your skin.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Okay, So what else are like the long lasting makeup tips?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Because I swear making your makeup last all day is
- 4:10Speaker 1: one of the hardest.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Things it is and it takes work.
- 4:13Speaker 4: So if like you're not willing to do the steps,
- 4:17Speaker 4: then it's kind of a.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Compromise with that.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Everyone thinks like they would get the buyer foundation that
- 4:23Speaker 4: says twelve hour ware and that's it, like right, you know.
- 4:26Speaker 3: So it's all scam. It's a full scam. Really no,
- 4:29Speaker 3: it's not.
- 4:30Speaker 1: But it's like, isn't it right, You've got to still
- 4:35Speaker 1: do even if a foundation says like twelve hour where
- 4:38Speaker 1: you've still got to do the steps to get the twelve.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Hour ware, So yeah, absolutely, And it all starts with
- 4:43Speaker 4: your skin prep.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And this is like.
- 4:45Speaker 1: The hot word in makeup, well it is what it's about.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Like for example, if you're dry and then you're using
- 4:51Speaker 4: a really light like moisturizer, then it's not hydrating or
- 4:56Speaker 4: emolient enough for you.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And you put your foundation on.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Your skin is so thirsty it's going to absolutely eat
- 5:01Speaker 4: that foundation up. So you think that the foundation sucks,
- 5:05Speaker 4: but then it's your skin prep.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Do you think the foundation stucks really your skin?
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not the foundation, it's you.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Yeah, So that skincare routine has to be custom tailored
- 5:18Speaker 4: to you and your skin type in order for your
- 5:22Speaker 4: products to work best on top and to have that
- 5:25Speaker 4: longevity on top.
- 5:26Speaker 3: So that would be my first step is to hydrate
- 5:29Speaker 3: the skin, understanding what skin type you are.
- 5:31Speaker 4: So if you're dry, more emolient rich, you're going to
- 5:33Speaker 4: use hydrating with a mix of oils, and then if
- 5:37Speaker 4: you're oily, you're going to use mainly just hydrating humertans,
- 5:40Speaker 4: holer on acids, things like that.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So if you're oily, would you recommend more water based
- 5:44Speaker 1: products and if you're dry more oil based products.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah that's right.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you can use a mix, and a lot
- 5:49Speaker 4: of people are actually a combination. Like I'm a classic combo.
- 5:52Speaker 4: You guys are classic combos as well.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah I know, yeah, yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Guys, I know you guys well, So you know, classic
- 6:00Speaker 4: combinations will want a mix of both high high trading
- 6:04Speaker 4: and oil based products.
- 6:05Speaker 3: But you know, you really have to find your group.
- 6:07Speaker 4: It's also even like what I like to do is
- 6:10Speaker 4: to test them on my hand in store and if
- 6:12Speaker 4: I like that feeling, oh my god, I love it.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Generally, that's what you love on your skin.
- 6:16Speaker 4: If you hate it, oh it's too thick, you're not
- 6:18Speaker 4: going to like that on your face either.
- 6:20Speaker 3: So it's your you.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Know, your prep and then everything else goes on top.
- 6:24Speaker 4: So if you want to know the steps of products
- 6:26Speaker 4: that I would use foundation, like in makeup, I would
- 6:30Speaker 4: then for a group primer like so Milk Makeup put
- 6:33Speaker 4: a beauty they have amazing grippy primers and that's going
- 6:37Speaker 4: to grip the foundation and hold it onto the skin.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Then you're going to apply a foundation on top, whatever
- 6:43Speaker 4: foundation that you know suits your skin type or you know,
- 6:46Speaker 4: the finish that you like, that's something you'd go into
- 6:48Speaker 4: store to figure out, you know, get little samples as well,
- 6:51Speaker 4: try it throughout the weeks. Super important you have to do.
- 6:55Speaker 4: You've got to do it, and then you're going to
- 6:57Speaker 4: get a setting spray and apply it in between oil layers.
- 7:00Speaker 1: And is there a setting spray you like?
- 7:02Speaker 4: I love the Hood of Beauty setting spray. I think
- 7:04Speaker 4: that's really fab I love.
- 7:08Speaker 3: The what is it? The pink one one size? One size?
- 7:11Speaker 3: Is that's right?
- 7:12Speaker 4: I always you know flight, I see colors sometimes not names. Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 4: so I love that one. The mist is so fine
- 7:18Speaker 4: and beautiful. Makeup Forever have a really good one. It's
- 7:21Speaker 4: in a black packaging and it's like just for removing
- 7:23Speaker 4: any oil on the skin.
- 7:24Speaker 3: There's just so many So just look on the packaging.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Long war that's what you want to see, Long wear
- 7:29Speaker 4: twelve hours setting spray.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Well, it's the difference between a setting spray and a
- 7:34Speaker 1: finishing spray. Yep.
- 7:35Speaker 4: So setting sprays they're similar in the fact that they
- 7:39Speaker 4: their action is to set the foundation and the skin.
- 7:42Speaker 4: But a setting spray is something that you can use
- 7:43Speaker 4: every day between the layers of your foundation and then
- 7:46Speaker 4: a finishing spray is really hardcore. You're going to use
- 7:48Speaker 4: that for like special occasions. So finishing sprays are like
- 7:52Speaker 4: really beautiful fine mists from brands like Crayol and ben
- 7:56Speaker 4: Ni They like have a sealant. They create a film
- 7:58Speaker 4: over the skin and they make it water proof and
- 8:01Speaker 4: it really it can dry your skin out, so you
- 8:03Speaker 4: don't want to apply too much.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I have tested it.
- 8:06Speaker 4: And it's just you sometimes can't feel it, can't move
- 8:09Speaker 4: your face.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean exactly. Yeah, Yeah, I love that.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I want it.
- 8:16Speaker 3: It's actually bab it's finishing spray then man, and that's it.
- 8:25Speaker 4: So you use that on like a weekend special occasion,
- 8:28Speaker 4: not too much because it's really harsh on the skin.
- 8:30Speaker 4: But it's amazing it doesn't move. It's almost like thinking you're.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Using your wedding for your birthday exactly where ITA's like
- 8:37Speaker 1: for every day makeup that you want to last all day.
- 8:39Speaker 3: You go the.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Setting setting spray and you use it in between every step.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Yeah, if you want your skin your foundation to like
- 8:46Speaker 4: wear longer, you know, you can really customize it to you.
- 8:50Speaker 4: You can do that if every step if you feel
- 8:51Speaker 4: like nothing works otherwise, just do it on top afterwards. Yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 4: you can really do what you have time for and
- 8:58Speaker 4: what you feel course for.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Look, how long do you have to wait for the
- 9:01Speaker 2: setting spray to set before you move on to the
- 9:03Speaker 2: next step?
- 9:05Speaker 4: Oh yeah, like I would have a little fan they're
- 9:07Speaker 4: ready to go, like you know, we're busy, because that's what.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I'm imagining for like the girls on the go. Dude, yes,
- 9:13Speaker 3: he has time to wait, Like yeah, just fan it
- 9:15Speaker 3: dry and then on your way.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Absolutely, yeah, that's it. But definitely found them dry. So
- 9:21Speaker 4: let me add a few more into the mix. If
- 9:22Speaker 4: you want like everything to wear really well, like you're
- 9:25Speaker 4: going to an event tonight and.
- 9:27Speaker 3: So you're going to do all those steps that we
- 9:29Speaker 3: just spoke about.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Then you're going to use your cream products, which are
- 9:32Speaker 4: your cream bronzes, your cream blushes. Then you're going to
- 9:35Speaker 4: set with a sponge. You're going to press and lock
- 9:38Speaker 4: it in. Best powders a poot of Beauty and JU
- 9:41Speaker 4: want you. I love those two. They really are long
- 9:43Speaker 4: wearing powders. But you have to press it in otherwise
- 9:47Speaker 4: it's not going to lock in as long as you
- 9:49Speaker 4: want or look as flawless as you wish. And then
- 9:52Speaker 4: you're going to go on top with a powder like
- 9:55Speaker 4: powder bronzer and powder blush. So it is a fair
- 9:58Speaker 4: few steps, but that that's what it takes, and that's
- 10:01Speaker 4: what we do on like celebrity clients or you know,
- 10:04Speaker 4: on ourselves when we want to photograph really well.
- 10:06Speaker 3: So that's it.
- 10:08Speaker 4: You really can choose, of course what you you know
- 10:10Speaker 4: apply to your everyday methods, but that's what it.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Takes when you're doing makeup. And I think this is
- 10:17Speaker 1: like a It depends on just like it's whether you
- 10:20Speaker 1: do your hairy or makeup first. Right when you're doing
- 10:22Speaker 1: your makeup, do you do eyes first then face or
- 10:26Speaker 1: do you do face first then eyes.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I do my face first. I do my face then
- 10:31Speaker 3: I do.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Brows because foundation needs time to set, like liquids need
- 10:36Speaker 4: time to set in between. So I'll do my foundation,
- 10:40Speaker 4: let that set a little bit as I move on
- 10:42Speaker 4: to maybe the brow or a little bit of the
- 10:44Speaker 4: eye or anything. However, you can reverse this step if
- 10:48Speaker 4: you are doing a smoky eye and you have lots
- 10:50Speaker 4: of fallout, just do it that way, so preempt in
- 10:52Speaker 4: that manner.
- 10:53Speaker 3: But yeah, as a lazy girl, I just like to slap.
- 10:56Speaker 4: It on and then put a brow on and you
- 10:59Speaker 4: know that's like, that's what my fast routine is.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I love that.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I was I would have assumed it was the other way.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it really, there is no wrong, There
- 11:10Speaker 4: is no wrong. You can do it however you see
- 11:12Speaker 4: fit really yeah, because I feel like.
- 11:14Speaker 1: When people do it online they always start with their eyes,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but that's probably because they're doing like a luuk.
- 11:20Speaker 4: So what happens there is when you do the foundation first,
- 11:24Speaker 4: you can actually see what your how much product you
- 11:27Speaker 4: need on the ice. But if you start doing a
- 11:29Speaker 4: smoky eye and then you put your foundation on and
- 11:31Speaker 4: it evens out all the redness, you have a blank canvas.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Sometimes you see that you've done too much. Yeah, so
- 11:39Speaker 4: it really I feel it helps the process of application.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And what about for people with oily skin, because we
- 11:45Speaker 2: had quite a few people writing in asking how to
- 11:48Speaker 2: stop your makeup looking oily throughout the day.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Again, this is a total skincare switch because for example, say,
- 11:57Speaker 4: I guess people asking this are oily, right, say that
- 12:00Speaker 4: you're you hate that oil coming through, So then you
- 12:03Speaker 4: turn you use less hydration in your skin, and then
- 12:06Speaker 4: your actual skin overreacts and it starts producing more oil.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Throughout the day. So to take care of your.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Skin and actually give it what it needs in terms
- 12:14Speaker 4: of like water and possibly a little bit of oil.
- 12:17Speaker 3: In areas, then you can.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Stress assure that your makeup will look much better throughout
- 12:23Speaker 4: the day and your skin won't overproduce. But also, like
- 12:27Speaker 4: it's our skin's like the largest organ. Let's bring a
- 12:30Speaker 4: little press powder, be forgiving of yourself. Don't worry if
- 12:32Speaker 4: you have a little bit of oil come through, just
- 12:34Speaker 4: press it down. But what I love is those what
- 12:38Speaker 4: are they? They're like blotting papers.
- 12:40Speaker 2: That's gonna ask if you're a fan of blotting paper.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I love them.
- 12:44Speaker 4: We use them on, set off them because they don't
- 12:46Speaker 4: disrupt the makeup underneath. You just press them on and
- 12:48Speaker 4: they're super addictive to look up, look at after.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Like a pimple pat exactly. It's like that, so poor
- 12:55Speaker 3: strip do that.
- 12:56Speaker 4: If you don't want to add any more powder to
- 12:58Speaker 4: your skin. If you're like a very natural girl but
- 13:00Speaker 4: you hate that oil and you or you're like, yeah,
- 13:02Speaker 4: it's just the middle of the day and like an
- 13:03Speaker 4: oil slick. Those are your best friends and you can
- 13:06Speaker 4: get them so cheap. But like guiso or if you
- 13:08Speaker 4: want to be a fancy touch, I have some.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I want to move on to kind of color matching
- 13:13Speaker 1: and undertones because I've always been scared of pink powders
- 13:18Speaker 1: in makeup and I've always been like no, no, no,
- 13:19Speaker 1: no no, And recently tried the cherry blossom shade from
- 13:23Speaker 1: Hoo to Beauty in the setting powder and my life
- 13:26Speaker 1: was changed. Like the brightening of the underraar was insane
- 13:30Speaker 1: that how do you know what your undertone is when
- 13:34Speaker 1: doing your makeup?
- 13:35Speaker 4: I want to answer your question as to why you
- 13:37Speaker 4: love that. Yeah, First, it's because like now that you've
- 13:41Speaker 4: thought of the powder as pink and you're like, I'm
- 13:43Speaker 4: scared of it, but I've used it under my eyes
- 13:45Speaker 4: and it's brightening. That's not to say that then you're
- 13:47Speaker 4: going to go and get a pink base foundation, right,
- 13:49Speaker 4: So you just love that in areas, which is perfect
- 13:52Speaker 4: because it offsets yellowness, sullenness and it brightens those areas.
- 13:55Speaker 4: So that's really clever to do it in a powder
- 13:58Speaker 4: and to do it in spots.
- 13:59Speaker 3: So let's move on to undertones.
- 14:02Speaker 4: I'll give you a little I guess cheat sheet of
- 14:07Speaker 4: how to know you could forget it. But so then
- 14:09Speaker 4: I'll tell you a little bit about the jewelry process
- 14:12Speaker 4: that I use to also that you can use to
- 14:14Speaker 4: know what your undertones are as well. Or if you're warm, cool,
- 14:17Speaker 4: and neutral. Look at the back of your wrists. If
- 14:20Speaker 4: you are green, you have green veins here, and blue
- 14:25Speaker 4: you are most likely and neutral because you have both tones.
- 14:28Speaker 4: If you see blue veins, you are a cool toned.
- 14:31Speaker 4: If you see green only.
- 14:34Speaker 3: You are like warm?
- 14:35Speaker 1: What am I?
- 14:36Speaker 3: Or olive? You are? You're both? You're neutral. She's a
- 14:40Speaker 3: neutral queen.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I know.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Yeah, well you're neutral as well, but you kind of
- 14:45Speaker 4: lean a little bit more pink on the skin.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you have pinkness within your neutral, so you can
- 14:49Speaker 3: be neutral.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Is a mix of yellow and pink, and you can
- 14:52Speaker 4: lean more pink or more yellow. Okay, so we're all
- 14:55Speaker 4: so unique, which we love. And then if you're like,
- 14:58Speaker 4: what the hell.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Did you just say?
- 15:00Speaker 4: I don't worry about it because I know it's like
- 15:02Speaker 4: it even takes a hot minute for us to remember
- 15:03Speaker 4: we're like what, But think of it as if you
- 15:07Speaker 4: wear gold jewelry and that makes your skin look amazing,
- 15:10Speaker 4: your eyes are brighter, everything comes to life.
- 15:13Speaker 3: You are most likely warm or neutral.
- 15:17Speaker 4: And if you love just if silver looks atrocious on you,
- 15:22Speaker 4: you are definitely warm. If silver looks amazing on you,
- 15:26Speaker 4: you are cool. If you can wear both your neutral.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so what do you guys do? Can you
- 15:32Speaker 3: guys wear mixed metals? You're neutral? Can you mix metals?
- 15:36Speaker 1: I can, but I prefer gold.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Okay, so you are neutral that leans more yellow?
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yes, okay, you go go there, you go slay incredible. Well, then,
- 15:45Speaker 1: going back to what we were saying before, I think
- 15:46Speaker 1: the hardest makeup step is kinceala, Like, why does my
- 15:50Speaker 1: conceila always look like shit? It either settles into fine lines,
- 15:54Speaker 1: goes like patchy, or I just feel like it doesn't last.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And like the darkness still the darkness within your soul,
- 16:03Speaker 1: the darkness still comes through. So like, how do we
- 16:08Speaker 1: make our concealer look good? Okay?
- 16:10Speaker 4: So to answer your question with darkness, you color correct
- 16:13Speaker 4: So there's so many color correctors out there, really good
- 16:16Speaker 4: one is the Becker one.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I think.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I think Becker isn't she dead?
- 16:19Speaker 4: Smash Box picked Becker up or puff that product up?
- 16:22Speaker 4: So smash Box have it now. It's an amazing product.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Put a beauty also have correcters.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I mean everyone has correcters these.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So what color correct would you like? What color color
- 16:34Speaker 1: correct would you use for dark circles, Like.
- 16:36Speaker 3: A little bit of orange.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Yeah, you could even grab a lipstick and pop a
- 16:39Speaker 4: little bit underneath. Yeah, like, but just like a tiny bit,
- 16:43Speaker 4: totally totally, Like, makeup is whatever you want it to be.
- 16:46Speaker 3: It's all about that texture.
- 16:47Speaker 4: If it's really oily too much, it might slide off,
- 16:49Speaker 4: So just get maybe something satin that you can just
- 16:51Speaker 4: lightly offset. It's all about kind of offsetting that color.
- 16:54Speaker 4: And that's why we use it to cover tattoos and
- 16:56Speaker 4: things like that. But to also answer your question about
- 16:59Speaker 4: like why you feel it looks creasy or cakeyever sits well?
- 17:04Speaker 4: For like, right now, it looks amazing, Like whatever you've
- 17:06Speaker 4: got under.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Their slatey blossom, it's so flawless. If you were doing
- 17:13Speaker 1: a client's concealer, take me through the routine of how
- 17:17Speaker 1: you would.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Do hydrate under them. Make sure you are well hydrated
- 17:20Speaker 4: under the eye.
- 17:21Speaker 3: If you're putting.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Product in a dry eye, oh my god, like it's
- 17:24Speaker 4: just going to catch, it's not going to sit well.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Let that set for a little bit. You have to
- 17:29Speaker 3: let your.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Cream products dry down. If you go on top of
- 17:34Speaker 4: your cream product, your cream concealer with a powttern and
- 17:37Speaker 4: you set it, it becomes muddy. So just let it
- 17:42Speaker 4: dry down so it's not wet, and then you can
- 17:44Speaker 4: actually press that pattern in. What I would like for
- 17:47Speaker 4: you to do is while you're wearing it, scrunch up
- 17:50Speaker 4: your face as tight as you can, and then any
- 17:53Speaker 4: little lines that you might see coming up, grab like
- 17:56Speaker 4: a little fine brush or a little Q tip, remove
- 17:59Speaker 4: the excess product. Dab your finger over the top. Look up,
- 18:03Speaker 4: press that powder on top. You've already preempted that annoying
- 18:08Speaker 4: movement and that product that might crease.
- 18:10Speaker 3: You've removed that. Look at that. That has changed my life.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That's changed my life.
- 18:17Speaker 4: In saying that, guys, be forgiving. Like your skin and
- 18:21Speaker 4: face is going to move. You have movement in your face,
- 18:23Speaker 4: So any creasing that you might have throughout the day,
- 18:25Speaker 4: don't think.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Oh my god, like this is the worst product.
- 18:28Speaker 4: It's natural. What's going to happen. We you know, we
- 18:32Speaker 4: are expressive, so it's going to happen. Just take your
- 18:33Speaker 4: ring finger and just dab and that excess product will
- 18:36Speaker 4: come right off. Again, that's it.
- 18:38Speaker 1: That's a good reminder.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yeah, do you have any concealer product recommendations?
- 18:42Speaker 4: Oh my god, Yes, I'm obsessed with house lubs under
- 18:46Speaker 4: the eye right now.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I love it.
- 18:48Speaker 4: I love makeup forever can see. Like really depends on
- 18:52Speaker 4: you know, the kind of coverage you like with about
- 18:54Speaker 4: drug store drug store, I've got to say, guys, like
- 18:56Speaker 4: I've since I was seventeen, I've only worked with high
- 18:59Speaker 4: end Brands've never and I get all the product for free.
- 19:02Speaker 4: So this year, however, I have started really looking into
- 19:06Speaker 4: drugstore brands only because the formulations are so sligh right now,
- 19:11Speaker 4: for example, like Knicks Cosmetics can do no wrong, Like Laurel,
- 19:15Speaker 4: I think, oh my god, I just I'm obsessed.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Like I'm wearing Nicks right now. I just love Wow.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm in a new world and I'm excited
- 19:25Speaker 4: to try all drugstore stuff, to be honest, because I
- 19:27Speaker 4: think now that now they've they've leveled up to a
- 19:29Speaker 4: point where they can really compete with high end.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Before they couldn't. I'll tell you now, before they couldn't.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Now WHOA absolutely sure.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I think with the rise of dupes as well, in
- 19:39Speaker 1: like jupe culture, I think drug store brands finally have
- 19:42Speaker 1: a little bit more of a foot in the door
- 19:44Speaker 1: to compete because there was this understanding that you spend more,
- 19:48Speaker 1: you get more, which is definitely true sometimes with something
- 19:51Speaker 1: and some things you absolutely don't. The mabling fit me,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I've heard, is also incredibly good, and I've tried it
- 19:56Speaker 1: over the years and I've really enjoyed it. That one
- 19:59Speaker 1: was good because it was a dupe for the nas concealer.
- 20:03Speaker 3: What's amazing one that's yet?
- 20:05Speaker 2: Ye?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I can't remember. Yeah, yeah, that one.
- 20:09Speaker 1: We know the one.
- 20:09Speaker 3: We know the one, we know the one, we know her. Yeah, okay,
- 20:11Speaker 3: we know her. I agree with you. I really like
- 20:14Speaker 3: all the loreal products.
- 20:15Speaker 4: So the Loreal True much nude haloronic tinted serum foundation
- 20:19Speaker 4: is a dupe for the Amani luminis silk.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Which, like the Ami luminous silk, she's gorgeous.
- 20:25Speaker 4: She's stunned, but she's she's exy.
- 20:28Speaker 3: So you know what, you can maybe have both an alternating.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, or get a test of the luminous silk, use
- 20:34Speaker 1: that for your special occasions and then just get the
- 20:36Speaker 1: loreal dupe for every day exactly.
- 20:38Speaker 3: You know that it's too broke.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Trick's way is honestly life hack.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yeah. I would only ever buy the George olmoney when
- 20:46Speaker 1: it's on sale and you can get it from Sophora, right.
- 20:49Speaker 3: You can get it from Sephora, Maya, David Jones.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And Adoor Beauty, Door Beauty. I got my days during
- 20:55Speaker 1: an Adoor Beauty sale and I was like, you aout
- 20:59Speaker 1: you And I was like, oh, it's like, don't sit.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Thatfits the purpose.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and I know that I love to change up
- 21:05Speaker 1: foundations like I find foundations the funnest to try me too,
- 21:11Speaker 1: Like foundations and blushes, I change those up. Bronza, I
- 21:16Speaker 1: kind of stick to the same thing because I like
- 21:18Speaker 1: just like a glowy true bronze that I'm like, I
- 21:20Speaker 1: don't really change that up that much.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And when you find your shade too, yeah, and it's
- 21:24Speaker 2: our glass.
- 21:26Speaker 3: We love an hour glass.
- 21:28Speaker 1: No, but she's a spenny bitch. Okay, moving on to experimenting.
- 21:33Speaker 2: So it's great to have your go to makeup look.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I feel like we've kind of covered out everyday makeup routine.
- 21:39Speaker 2: But do you have any advice for any chicks out
- 21:41Speaker 2: there who want to experiment with their makeup?
- 21:44Speaker 3: Experiment with their makeup.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely so, I feel like I this is a
- 21:49Speaker 4: tip that I've been using since I was seventeen, and
- 21:52Speaker 4: I still think today it is a really nice all
- 21:55Speaker 4: two tips.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It's a really nice way.
- 21:56Speaker 4: To add color and add a little bit of you know,
- 21:59Speaker 4: flavor to your makeup if you're feeling a little bit
- 22:01Speaker 4: dull or like you've been doing the same thing is
- 22:04Speaker 4: to actually do your beautiful shadow on top if it's
- 22:07Speaker 4: a neutral, if you're just a neutral girly, continue that process,
- 22:10Speaker 4: but then add a little bit of colored eyeliner underneath
- 22:12Speaker 4: the eyes. And I think that really helps to pop
- 22:16Speaker 4: that eye and help you experiment with colors before you actually,
- 22:20Speaker 4: you know, go in with maybe a colored eye shadow
- 22:23Speaker 4: or you know, or actually, you know, you might do
- 22:25Speaker 4: a black wing and then press in a little bit
- 22:26Speaker 4: of a colored shadow just along the line there and
- 22:30Speaker 4: leave the outer corner of black.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Like you can really experiment that way.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Another tip I always would have customers are, because I've
- 22:37Speaker 4: worked in the retail floor for so many years, their
- 22:39Speaker 4: main question is how can I wear color? I'm so
- 22:41Speaker 4: scared of wearing red, And the best way is to start,
- 22:46Speaker 4: you know, with a really nice flush of colors. You
- 22:48Speaker 4: can grab a red lipstick full pigment and then just
- 22:51Speaker 4: lightly press it on to the lips and then perhaps
- 22:54Speaker 4: next month you're gonna want to press a little bit
- 22:56Speaker 4: more on and then maybe in three months you're gonna
- 22:59Speaker 4: wanna feel comfortable to go opaque, like full you know,
- 23:02Speaker 4: opacity in the lips and like go full blown red.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And that's just the start that with any Yeah, you
- 23:08Speaker 1: don't go any color, hell for leather, because you'll scare
- 23:11Speaker 1: yourself totally.
- 23:11Speaker 4: I feel like when you look at yourself and you
- 23:13Speaker 4: see a different person and it's so different to what
- 23:16Speaker 4: you do, it can be scary.
- 23:17Speaker 1: So like I hate it.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Yeah, you're like, oh my god, this is not me.
- 23:19Speaker 4: So if you just slowly like start experimenting, And it's
- 23:23Speaker 4: rich coming from me because I don't really wear color,
- 23:25Speaker 4: and I just I love looking at it, but when
- 23:27Speaker 4: I wear it, I'm like whoa. But with makeup, I
- 23:29Speaker 4: think it's easy because you can just you know, take
- 23:31Speaker 4: it off or dull it down and that's it. Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 4: it's fun.
- 23:34Speaker 1: On that note, I want to know, as a makeup artist,
- 23:38Speaker 1: how do you color match your makeup to your eye color?
- 23:41Speaker 1: So what eyeshadows or colored eyeliner would you recommend for
- 23:46Speaker 1: brown eyes, blue eyes, and green eyes.
- 23:48Speaker 3: So any opposite color.
- 23:49Speaker 4: So if you look at the color theory wheel, just
- 23:53Speaker 4: google that and look at your eye color and look
- 23:56Speaker 4: at the color that's completely opposite to it. So for
- 23:59Speaker 4: my brown eyed girls, purple purple is brown eyes. Yes,
- 24:04Speaker 4: purple greens like they really pop our eye color. So
- 24:08Speaker 4: you can use you know, soft variations of that. But
- 24:10Speaker 4: look at the color wheel and you'll know as.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Save burgundy for brown eyes as well.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Urgandy can really bring out the honey in your eyes.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 24:18Speaker 4: And if you're kind of overwhelmed with what you should
- 24:20Speaker 4: be doing, let the celebrity artists do the work for you.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Google somebody who has your coloring. For example, let's do
- 24:26Speaker 4: the jewelry test on yourself. If you're you know, we've we've.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Spoken about that.
- 24:30Speaker 4: And if you're a cool toned, look up you know
- 24:32Speaker 4: Nicole Kidman, like what is she wearing? Or you know,
- 24:35Speaker 4: if you're warm toned, look at the celebrity makeup artists
- 24:38Speaker 4: that have used warm tones on somebody and you'll know
- 24:42Speaker 4: what kind of palette you should be working with based.
- 24:45Speaker 3: On the celebrities they've done they've done all that work
- 24:47Speaker 3: for you. I think it's a cool cheat.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I love that one, And especially with like the Matt
- 24:51Speaker 2: Gala coming up, I feel like we see so much
- 24:53Speaker 2: content around celebrity makeup and celebrity makeup looks, so it's
- 24:57Speaker 2: a great time to get a few examples.
- 25:00Speaker 3: So true.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Even just look up that artist or that you know,
- 25:04Speaker 4: that celebrity and check if they are cool, neutral, or
- 25:06Speaker 4: warm and see what they're wearing.
- 25:09Speaker 3: So easy. I love it.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Okay, I want to get into the expensive makeup products
- 25:14Speaker 1: that you think are worth the price. As you said,
- 25:17Speaker 1: you've worked with.
- 25:18Speaker 3: A lot of I've tried everything.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yes, we're going to get into what's worth it and what's not.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So what are the high end or expensive makeup products
- 25:29Speaker 1: that you think are worth the price?
- 25:31Speaker 4: Foundations Foundations Okay, So House Labs is wild. I feel
- 25:38Speaker 4: like it's such a beautiful texture, finish, longevity. You can
- 25:44Speaker 4: apply a little bit or a lot and have a
- 25:48Speaker 4: light coverage or full coverage. It's really great undertones too.
- 25:51Speaker 4: You just want to go with products that have good
- 25:53Speaker 4: undertone ranges. Make Up Forever. They've got a new hydro
- 25:57Speaker 4: Boost foundation and it's just so light weight, like second skin,
- 26:01Speaker 4: that's beautiful. I think those are worth the hypes. If
- 26:04Speaker 4: you're feeling so bone dry, you feel like nothing makes
- 26:07Speaker 4: you look alive. L as Fast las Fast foundations. They
- 26:10Speaker 4: are so expensively, like what one ten maybe now with
- 26:14Speaker 4: inflation one, I don't know.
- 26:16Speaker 3: However, a little bit goes a long way.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Nothing will make you look or feel more alive than
- 26:20Speaker 4: that Dawn foundation.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I swear to god, fantastic. It's great. So yeah, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 3: go in and get your samples from Mecca and that's it.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah about Lareal one, that's like a good drug store jyp.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Yes, the Laureal one.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And I also love the Morphy Hint Hint
- 26:36Speaker 1: skin tint. That one's good. It's a good everyday one.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I did life that much. But if I don't know
- 26:42Speaker 1: how it would go on people with oily skin because
- 26:44Speaker 1: it is quite like wet looking and dewy, which as
- 26:48Speaker 1: like a dry skin combo garly. I do love that, yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 1: but yeah, that's also another affordable one.
- 26:54Speaker 4: You could also like say that you had a more
- 26:56Speaker 4: full coverage foundation, like you know, fenty Beauty. I love
- 27:00Speaker 4: that foundation than your pro filter soft lit. I love
- 27:03Speaker 4: that foundation. Say that you wanted like a little bit
- 27:05Speaker 4: more luminosity to that and make it more of like
- 27:07Speaker 4: a serum foundation. Add a like nice light oil, like
- 27:10Speaker 4: one drop onto your skin before your foundation comes on,
- 27:13Speaker 4: and that it really is the same thing.
- 27:15Speaker 1: So you can get more out of one foundation.
- 27:18Speaker 4: That foundations a few ways, Like it's just get that
- 27:20Speaker 4: right undertone, get a bit more coverage and you can
- 27:23Speaker 4: really sheer it out.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I love these hacks.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Okay, thanks?
- 27:27Speaker 2: Should we go the juicy part of the question? What
- 27:30Speaker 2: about the expensive products that.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Aren't worth it?
- 27:33Speaker 4: I think fragrance is like used to be just on
- 27:36Speaker 4: the cosmetics floor, like that's what it was. Now there
- 27:40Speaker 4: are so many amazing niche offerings with fragrance half the price,
- 27:45Speaker 4: so nice?
- 27:46Speaker 3: Do you reckon? Can you name drop one?
- 27:48Speaker 2: Is there one that pops into your mind? You're like,
- 27:50Speaker 2: I would never pay for.
- 27:51Speaker 4: That again, any I would never If you go, if
- 27:54Speaker 4: you go to the mine floor, I would never pay.
- 27:57Speaker 4: You know, those beautiful fragrance scales and guys that are
- 28:00Speaker 4: spraying on the cards and giving you those fragrances from brands,
- 28:03Speaker 4: I probably would never buy those because they're so commercial,
- 28:06Speaker 4: and that's what that's all we had before those launchers
- 28:09Speaker 4: were so hot, like you had to have the newest fragrance.
- 28:12Speaker 4: But now I know that I can go and find
- 28:14Speaker 4: something cheaper, more inexpensive, that's a little bit more niche,
- 28:18Speaker 4: and less people are wearing it, so yeah, it feels
- 28:22Speaker 4: more like my scent. So I think that's yeah, that's
- 28:24Speaker 4: one product that I could spend a lesson.
- 28:27Speaker 1: See, that's crazy, because I love a bougie, bougie fragrance.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I do love some like but I do love a
- 28:33Speaker 3: bougie fragrance too.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I will pa Paradox, which, like I have never necessarily
- 28:38Speaker 1: been like the bougie one either, Like I'm always looking
- 28:41Speaker 1: for the bargain girly, but I love the lush fragrances
- 28:45Speaker 1: for an affordable option. But the Prita Paradox fragrance, without
- 28:50Speaker 1: a doubt is my most complimented fragrance. And I got
- 28:52Speaker 1: it in PR for the first time. And you would
- 28:55Speaker 1: know this as well, that we're so lucky to get
- 28:57Speaker 1: products that like to reperchase is something you know, it's
- 29:01Speaker 1: fucking good because I'm like, oh no, we need that,
- 29:04Speaker 1: And so whenever we get an expensive product in PR
- 29:07Speaker 1: and I love it, I'm like damn it, because now
- 29:10Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm a dick.
- 29:11Speaker 3: They've got you.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and literally a girl in Greece chase me down
- 29:16Speaker 1: on the street to be like, what perfume are you wearing?
- 29:19Speaker 1: But what I will say is that I will never
- 29:22Speaker 1: pay full price for a perfume. Perfume go on sale
- 29:26Speaker 1: so often and so much because they're in so many
- 29:29Speaker 1: retailers that like. And also I probably would never pay
- 29:32Speaker 1: more than two hundred dollars for a come on, like
- 29:34Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty is like my max sack, and
- 29:38Speaker 1: you can for so many Now you can get refills,
- 29:40Speaker 1: so with that prior of Paradox, you can get a
- 29:43Speaker 1: refill canister that you save like twenty or thirty dollars
- 29:47Speaker 1: more and then you refill the bottle, which is also
- 29:49Speaker 1: like more sustainable and amazing, incredible.
- 29:53Speaker 3: I love that Paradox.
- 29:56Speaker 1: One that you should try that is also viral is
- 30:00Speaker 1: not even a fragrance, but it's a hair conditioner spray,
- 30:03Speaker 1: so people yeah, but people use it as a body
- 30:06Speaker 1: spray and blue myself. And it's called super milk and
- 30:09Speaker 1: it's like this vanilla gourmand like caramelized sweet tread, so good, nice,
- 30:16Speaker 1: so good when I sprayed rob my partner came home
- 30:19Speaker 1: and he was like, did you like a candle? And
- 30:20Speaker 1: I was like, it's me.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I'm the candle candle.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I'm the yummy sweet treat is and get her.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I also.
- 30:31Speaker 1: From Lush and let the good times wrong.
- 30:33Speaker 4: I know I'm not across drugstore brands, so I don't
- 30:35Speaker 4: want to, like, you know, leave them out, but I
- 30:37Speaker 4: want to give you a hack of what I've learned
- 30:38Speaker 4: working with a lot of high end brands and working
- 30:42Speaker 4: under the umbrella of perhaps like more of an affordable brand.
- 30:46Speaker 4: So if you love long Com Georgia r Mani, Ysel,
- 30:51Speaker 4: you love products from their like their foundations and Mascarros.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Look at the brand who sells them, so they're their
- 30:57Speaker 4: brand owner is Laurel. They're under the umbrella L so
