- 1:01Love it.
- 1:02Love it.
- 1:02Love it.
- 1:03Love it.
- 1:03Last night show was awesome.
- 1:08Really so thankful that Jamie was able to
- 1:12sit up long enough to get through ninety
- 1:13minutes.
- 1:15She said it was the first time she'd
- 1:17sat up like that for that amount of
- 1:18time.
- 1:20And so really stoked she was able to
- 1:23do that.
- 1:26um and contribute which she did
- 1:27tremendously um and a lot of good feedback
- 1:31from those two um and there was a
- 1:33lot of news going on so we're going
- 1:35to continue to follow that throughout the
- 1:36day um andrew stan five a.m squad club
- 1:41mark moss jody joseph corey all in the
- 1:44house already what's going on guys so um
- 1:51what are we gonna talk about today
- 1:54first thing I'm going to talk about is
- 1:55I went got some new glasses yesterday I
- 1:58don't know if you guys can see and
- 2:04these ones actually have that like
- 2:06transition to sunglasses.
- 2:09So when the sun's out,
- 2:10they'll actually turn into sunglasses.
- 2:12Um,
- 2:13I just had to start wearing glasses
- 2:15probably two and a half years ago.
- 2:18And, um,
- 2:19I find that driving idle out with the
- 2:22anti glare,
- 2:23it's easier to drive with the glasses.
- 2:26Um, but then when it's sunny,
- 2:27it's really hard, um, to do that.
- 2:31So anyway, um,
- 2:36So I got these to kind of do
- 2:37the drive.
- 2:39My eyesight hasn't changed tremendously
- 2:41from one to another,
- 2:42but my insurance pays for a nice chunk
- 2:44of it.
- 2:45So I went ahead and got these,
- 2:47but I can switch back and forth between
- 2:49the two and have like a pair that
- 2:52go to sunglasses when I need to drive
- 2:54those long trips.
- 2:55So super stoked for that.
- 2:57And I kind of like the way these
- 2:58look.
- 2:58So I like the vanity aspect of it.
- 3:06So anyway, cool.
- 3:10Eric Mackey,
- 3:11tell me you're old without telling me
- 3:12you're old.
- 3:13I'll tell you what's making me old is
- 3:15this.
- 3:15Whoever's idea it was to do a fantasy
- 3:17football league in this Clydesdale media
- 3:19world.
- 3:22I am Owen three, man.
- 3:24I'm Owen three.
- 3:25I have not won a game yet.
- 3:26I got smoked by Jeff Baco.
- 3:29He's been bragging about it in every chat
- 3:31under the sun that he beat me this
- 3:33week.
- 3:38i don't know man i thought i knew
- 3:40football and this year it just is man
- 3:43i i cannot find a wide receiver to
- 3:46score me points to save my life um
- 3:51yeah but whoever's idea it was good news
- 3:57is caleb looked good this past weekend
- 3:59caleb looked great this last weekend um
- 4:03That flea flicker pass,
- 4:04sixty five yards in the air,
- 4:06longest pass in the NFL this year.
- 4:09He looks amazing.
- 4:14There is somebody at my door.
- 4:17Just check in real quick.
- 4:27So.
- 4:30I don't.
- 4:32Oh, okay.
- 4:34Neighbors dropping off some stuff.
- 4:36All right, cool.
- 4:40Um,
- 4:41hi friends only finished listening to
- 4:43Sunday,
- 4:43Monday night CrossFit talk and finally
- 4:45catching the live show again.
- 4:47Good to see you, Lito.
- 4:50Um, I know it's not a fireman.
- 4:53My wife is not here cooking,
- 4:54so we're safe.
- 4:56Um,
- 4:58So there you go.
- 4:59Eric Mackey, it's a long season.
- 5:01It is.
- 5:02I need to look at the waiver wire
- 5:03today and figure out some stuff.
- 5:06But yeah, yeah, I just,
- 5:09Baco's just making it impossible because
- 5:11he's bragging in every single chat room
- 5:14under the sun that he beat me.
- 5:16That's what I just need to get over.
- 5:20But what I want to talk about is
- 5:22partnerships.
- 5:23Last night,
- 5:23we kind of touched on this subject that
- 5:26it was announced over the weekend that
- 5:29Waterpalooza and CrossFit are going to
- 5:32partner to do the announcement for twenty
- 5:35six point three at Waterpalooza, Miami.
- 5:39and dave in his week in review also
- 5:41said that he went to waterpalooza and
- 5:44dylan walked him around showed them how
- 5:47they set up the footprint and all of
- 5:50the things they were doing there dave has
- 5:54never gone to waterpalooza that was his
- 5:56first time ever and the fact that he
- 5:59was willing to go and learn about how
- 6:02they set up that footprint
- 6:06I think is a huge step in the
- 6:07right direction, um, for,
- 6:11for CrossFit and for what a Palooza for
- 6:14that matter, uh,
- 6:16for them to partner together,
- 6:17what a Palooza has been around almost as
- 6:19long as the CrossFit games.
- 6:22Um,
- 6:24If you're going to partner with someone,
- 6:26they are a long-established and standing
- 6:30competition in this world,
- 6:33and it's the right person to do the
- 6:37partnership with because there are things
- 6:39that Wadapalooza does that CrossFit does
- 6:42not do.
- 6:44And the first thing is,
- 6:45and I see Vindicate in here,
- 6:48considering doing a booth at Waz in Miami
- 6:50next year.
- 6:54The Wadapalooza Vendor Village is way
- 6:58better than any competition,
- 7:01even the CrossFit Games.
- 7:03It is much bigger.
- 7:05It is much more vast.
- 7:09When you go to Wadapalooza, Miami,
- 7:12in the old,
- 7:13because I've not been to the new location,
- 7:15the Vendor Village was huge, huge.
- 7:19And on one of the days,
- 7:21they let people in for free.
- 7:23so people can walk into the park and
- 7:26they can walk around and go to all
- 7:28the vendors and watch all the competition
- 7:30on the first day for free and what
- 7:36that does is it gets foot traffic in
- 7:38the door for the vendors so that they
- 7:40can sell to these people plus you're
- 7:43selling the idea of crossfit
- 7:45to these people who are walking in who
- 7:47may not even know what it is but
- 7:49it's free so they walk in it's a
- 7:50nice day in the park they want to
- 7:52go walk around they see this competition
- 7:55and who the heck knows maybe they're like
- 7:56what is this i want to try that
- 7:59um
- 8:01it it it's amazing what they do and
- 8:05if you look at the way they set
- 8:06up their bleachers and their stands
- 8:09especially in the miami one i've not it
- 8:11because it is much bigger in miami than
- 8:13what i saw on the broadcast for socal
- 8:19you can get a lot a lot of
- 8:22um
- 8:24A lot of people in a little space,
- 8:26and Wadapalooza has kind of mastered that,
- 8:29and they have a problem that other
- 8:31competitions don't have.
- 8:32Wadapalooza's biggest problem up until
- 8:35last year was they couldn't fit everybody
- 8:37in that wanted to be there.
- 8:40Imagine that.
- 8:41There are more people that want to be
- 8:43there and buy tickets than you can fit
- 8:46in the space.
- 8:49If they're doing that,
- 8:50what are they doing differently that
- 8:52you're not doing to attract people?
- 8:55Yes, the location is Miami,
- 8:57but CrossFit can think about that too.
- 8:59What are the locations we can make to
- 9:02do the exact same thing?
- 9:05Albany is not Miami.
- 9:07Albany is not awesome.
- 9:10Why would you put a place there?
- 9:12I know their hands were probably forced,
- 9:15but we have an early details on the
- 9:19season.
- 9:19How do we figure that out so that
- 9:21you're in a location that makes sense and
- 9:24is very much
- 9:26like the footprint of Waterpalooza,
- 9:28and you figure out how to get people
- 9:30in the seats.
- 9:31And the more people you get in the
- 9:32seats, the more vendors want to be there.
- 9:34The more vendors want to be there,
- 9:36the bigger the revenue stream.
- 9:38It just makes sense.
- 9:43And I'm so glad, I'm so glad that
- 9:47They have opened up their minds to go
- 9:51to to Wadapalooza and check those things
- 9:55out.
- 9:56Look at the footprint and see what's going
- 9:58on.
- 10:01Vindicate SoCal Wadapalooza vendor village
- 10:03was free all weekend.
- 10:04Tons of foot traffic traffic from people
- 10:07who had no idea what was going on.
- 10:10Yes.
- 10:11Learn those tricks.
- 10:12Learn those tricks.
- 10:14I know in Fort Wayne, Fort, yeah.
- 10:18No, not Fort Wayne.
- 10:19Fort, whatever.
- 10:22The Dallas, Fort Worth, Fort Worth.
- 10:25The vendor village was off-site,
- 10:27but the line to get in was so
- 10:29hard.
- 10:29They had to go through metal detectors,
- 10:31and the line was down the street.
- 10:33People couldn't even get in the door.
- 10:36You need to make it available for people
- 10:38easily.
- 10:43Yeah, I know, Corey.
- 10:44I'm old, so I switch things up.
- 10:50Probably bigger this year because they're
- 10:51combining that fitness thing they got a
- 10:54grant from.
- 10:58Vicky,
- 10:58are you talking Waterpalooza or are you
- 11:00talking the games?
- 11:10You guys are not picking good places to
- 11:12go.
- 11:13Louisiana in August is not delightful.
- 11:16Not at all.
- 11:17Canada in the winter is not awesome.
- 11:25Waza, Miami.
- 11:27I hope so.
- 11:28I mean...
- 11:29I think, hopefully,
- 11:30by moving it from January to March,
- 11:33you're out of the rainy season.
- 11:35When I lived in Florida,
- 11:36the rainy season was relentless.
- 11:38It rained every single day at three p.m.
- 11:40when I lived in Florida.
- 11:42If they can get out of that rainy
- 11:44season and have a more dependable...
- 11:50a more dependable schedule and not factor
- 11:54in rain and bad weather.
- 11:57I think that's going to be huge for
- 11:58them just making that two month change.
- 12:00And now,
- 12:01now that you can go to Guadalupalooza and
- 12:03do your open workout on the third week
- 12:05of the open,
- 12:07or if you're competing at Guadalupalooza,
- 12:09it will be part of the workout lineup
- 12:12for you to do that weekend.
- 12:17I think that's going to be awesome.
- 12:21what a Palooza got a grant from Miami
- 12:22city.
- 12:23Didn't they?
- 12:23Yes.
- 12:24Yes.
- 12:26Miami is doing a huge fitness,
- 12:28fitness push for about a month at that
- 12:31time.
- 12:32That's incredible.
- 12:33That's awesome that a city is getting
- 12:34behind fitness like that.
- 12:41So,
- 12:44so I'm really happy that they have decided
- 12:48to do
- 12:51to do these partnerships and open their
- 12:52mind to see what other people are doing
- 12:54and hopefully learn from them.
- 12:56Um,
- 12:59And it's okay for Dave to go look
- 13:01at another competition and see how they do
- 13:03it, especially the footprint,
- 13:06especially the overall.
- 13:07How can you set up the footprint that
- 13:09makes more sense for the community,
- 13:11for a festival feel?
- 13:13I think that that's what Waterpalooza has.
- 13:15It is the best festival feel that we
- 13:19have right now.
- 13:20And...
- 13:25And that's what CrossFit needs back is
- 13:27that festival feel at the CrossFit Games.
- 13:30And how can they do it where it
- 13:32makes economic sense?
- 13:35And maybe if you partner with
- 13:36Waterpalooza, you can share resources,
- 13:39you can share equipment,
- 13:40and you can get that done in a
- 13:42way that makes sense.
- 13:47Corey says, is it a fitness tush push?
- 13:50Vindicate says, show up, Corey,
- 13:51and you might get lucky.
- 13:53There you go.
- 13:54Right there for you, buddy.
- 14:03So, so that's that.
- 14:06And then this is a good transition for
- 14:09me.
- 14:09Do they have a high rocks down there
- 14:10next year?
- 14:11That I do not know.
- 14:12I don't follow a high rock season.
- 14:15Not that I'm a hater,
- 14:17just I hate running.
- 14:19So it's never going to be something that
- 14:20I care about.
- 14:24Um, so I don't know,
- 14:25but last night on our show,
- 14:28we talked about the air national guard
- 14:30becoming a new sponsor for, uh, the, the,
- 14:35the presenting sponsor for the,
- 14:37the CrossFit open.
- 14:39And in that, um, and in that announcement,
- 14:45there was,
- 14:45there will be eight activations done
- 14:48throughout, uh, the season by, uh,
- 14:52presented by the Air National Guard.
- 14:54My hope was that that was a way
- 14:56for CrossFit to kind of start their own
- 15:00High Rocks event.
- 15:02High Rocks already is a CrossFit workout.
- 15:07And it's kind of being,
- 15:09the idea is kind of being stolen from
- 15:11CrossFit.
- 15:11They're off doing their own thing.
- 15:13And they have these events where a
- 15:15community comes and supports each other.
- 15:17And I think that's cool.
- 15:20But why doesn't CrossFit start their own
- 15:22with a less monostructural biased thing
- 15:30and they can do it on their own?
- 15:32And last night when I brought this up,
- 15:35the naysayer women of my co-hosts told me
- 15:38there's no way that's what it is and
- 15:41there's no way that CrossFit could pull
- 15:43this off.
- 15:43It's too expensive, blah, blah, blah.
- 15:47What I'm going to say is I think
- 15:48they can't pull it off.
- 15:50And here is,
- 15:52here's what I'm going to say.
- 15:55Eight activations around the world.
- 15:58And you go do this CrossFit event.
- 16:01You have a worldwide leaderboard for these
- 16:03eight events.
- 16:05And,
- 16:05but you make it the old school grassroots
- 16:09CrossFit.
- 16:11Think, think NorCal on the road.
- 16:16Nowhere where you have to go get a
- 16:18big venue, nothing like that.
- 16:21Think of what can we do outside in
- 16:24a park somewhere around throughout the
- 16:28year around the world,
- 16:31have a couple CrossFit athletes show up to
- 16:34work out with the crowd and figure out
- 16:37a workout that you don't need to be
- 16:40this, um, homogenized, um,
- 16:46clean high rocks thing right clean is like
- 16:50in in this arena with all the fancy
- 16:54flooring with all the fancy rig with the
- 16:57rep counters all that kind of stuff
- 17:02and this is more grassroots like almost
- 17:05like a crossfit fantasy camp come work out
- 17:08with rich froning and angelo and maybe two
- 17:13others uh hailey adams and whatever and
- 17:16come to cookville and we're gonna find a
- 17:19park and we're gonna do this workout as
- 17:21a group we'll send you through just like
- 17:24a five k would we'll have a um
- 17:29We'll have a worldwide leaderboard,
- 17:30and you can see where you can stand
- 17:32in the world.
- 17:33And you come together as a community,
- 17:35and you have some vendors there that set
- 17:37up a little tent,
- 17:39and you do some things just like NorCal,
- 17:41right?
- 17:42And I like these suggestions,
- 17:43like similar to what the ranch was
- 17:45exactly, like a hill run,
- 17:48like different things like that that you
- 17:50can do outside as an event for the
- 17:53community to rally around.
- 17:56High school football stadiums,
- 17:58that's another option.
- 17:59Someplace cheap.
- 18:01I don't want it to be this clean,
- 18:03generic thing that High Rocks is doing.
- 18:06Let's go in the other direction.
- 18:08Let's go to a thing that's gritty and
- 18:11dirty and dusty and do CrossFit the old
- 18:15school way around the world in these
- 18:18activations.
- 18:20And if you're doing it publicly in a
- 18:22park,
- 18:23people are going to be walking around
- 18:24going, what is that?
- 18:27What is that?
- 18:27Well, let me tell you what that is.
- 18:30That's CrossFit.
- 18:31That's how I lost two hundred pounds.
- 18:33That's how this guy staved off heart
- 18:37disease.
- 18:38This is how this person beat diabetes,
- 18:41blah, blah, blah.
- 18:42And then have people at boost that can
- 18:44talk about what it is.
- 18:45But you're doing it publicly in front of
- 18:47the whole world in a park and you're
- 18:51doing it for a competition.
- 18:52You're bringing the community together and
- 18:54people can see what it is at its
- 18:56grassroots level.
- 19:02And I think that that is the romantic
- 19:05part of what CrossFit is.
- 19:07Think about the old school days.
- 19:08We do CrossFit in a box that's not
- 19:11well furnished.
- 19:13It's just an open slab of concrete.
- 19:16Maybe we put down some rubber tiles and
- 19:19we, we lift some weights.
- 19:20We jump on boxes.
- 19:22We do some pull-ups.
- 19:23We do some things like that back to
- 19:25the grassroots.
- 19:27And when I was at my first CrossFit
- 19:28gym,
- 19:29we worked out outside as much as we
- 19:31could in the summer.
- 19:32We would go out in the parking lot
- 19:34with whatever we had,
- 19:35take some jump ropes, take some, uh,
- 19:40barbells out there to you know whatever we
- 19:42wanted to do and it we eliminated the
- 19:45machines from it because you didn't really
- 19:47want to take them outside at the time
- 19:49but you could do the whole workout outside
- 19:52why not do some kind of grassroots hyroxy
- 19:56thing only it's you you did this first
- 20:03yes megan
- 20:05you proving you can do CrossFit anywhere
- 20:07with whatever equipment you have.
- 20:09Perfect.
- 20:10Yes.
- 20:11We are the machines.
- 20:14Yes.
- 20:16Maybe that's what you call this event,
- 20:19right?
- 20:19This is CrossFit.
- 20:20We are the machines and we're going to
- 20:23go around the world and we're going to
- 20:25do these workouts in a park.
- 20:27We're going to do these workouts in a
- 20:28high school football stadium,
- 20:30whatever it is.
- 20:32Um,
- 20:34And we're going to have a good time
- 20:35as a community and we're going to share
- 20:38what it is that we do.
- 20:51Uh,
- 20:51Kaya has anyone checked out the functional
- 20:53fitness thing in Scandinavia and how it's
- 20:55run.
- 20:56They have a TV deal and are making
- 20:58money with it asking because they're not
- 21:00on YouTube because of the TV deal.
- 21:03Um,
- 21:06I didn't even know of that.
- 21:08I'll start looking into that.
- 21:14So, but I just think like
- 21:18High Rock stole this idea from us by
- 21:22taking a workout,
- 21:23making it like the little five K that
- 21:25you sign up for or the four miler
- 21:29or the five miler or whatever it is.
- 21:31And you go do it as a community.
- 21:33Why can't we take that back and go
- 21:35grassroots back to the old days of we
- 21:40are the machines and you go out in
- 21:42the park and you figure it out.
- 21:48know and you figure out a workout that
- 21:50you can do and take from town to
- 21:52town without a large footprint right maybe
- 22:01you fill a trailer with a little bit
- 22:02of equipment that you can go from town
- 22:04to town um maybe some dumbbells maybe some
- 22:09sandbags something like that show up at a
- 22:12park and and have a good time as
- 22:15a community
- 22:17I think that would be epic because it
- 22:20not only gets the community back together
- 22:23and fires up the base,
- 22:25but it also does it publicly where new
- 22:27people can look and go,
- 22:29what are they doing?
- 22:30And why are they having so much fun
- 22:31doing it?
- 22:34And how do I become a part of
- 22:35that?
- 22:38And then you have local affiliates come
- 22:40and hang out there to talk about to
- 22:42people about what CrossFit is and how they
- 22:45can get signed up.
- 22:50And it's all presented by the Air National
- 22:52Guard in their eight activations around
- 22:54the world.
- 22:57Now,
- 22:58maybe this is too pie in the sky.
- 23:00Maybe I'm thinking too big.
- 23:03I don't know,
- 23:04but I think it's something that has been
- 23:07proven to work when HIROX takes this from
- 23:12convention center to convention center
- 23:14around the world,
- 23:15and they get thousands of people to sign
- 23:17up,
- 23:18why couldn't CrossFit do the same thing in
- 23:21a more gritty, dusty way?
- 23:28You know what I'm saying?
- 23:33Ken Walters,
- 23:33it's a shame Scott hasn't put any thought
- 23:35into this.
- 23:37I know.
- 23:38We...
- 23:40we talked about this on our show a
- 23:41while ago and we actually came up with
- 23:43workouts that could be done gauntlet
- 23:47styled, like,
- 23:48like what a Palooza Miami does where
- 23:51people can come and sign up and do
- 23:53the gauntlet for an hour.
- 23:55Um,
- 23:59But if you do it more grassroots,
- 24:01you'd have to figure out a programming
- 24:03that you could do where you travel with
- 24:07a load of stuff in a trailer and
- 24:09just dump it into a park and let
- 24:11everybody do it.
- 24:16Frida,
- 24:16plain old body weight can be enough to
- 24:19get anyone floored.
- 24:21I agree.
- 24:21I agree.
- 24:23but I think like if you had like
- 24:26some sandbags or maybe some dumbbells,
- 24:28it just adds the like intrigue for the,
- 24:32for the methodology a little bit more.
- 24:41Um,
- 24:43Jonathan affiliates can sign up for
- 24:45fitness conventions like strong New York.
- 24:47Yeah.
- 24:48I know those are around.
- 24:49This is something I want.
- 24:50I think that CrossFit should do as an
- 24:52organization to attract people to what we
- 24:56do to not just cater to the base.
- 25:01It does cater to the base,
- 25:03but it also lets people see what we
- 25:05could do and that we're having a good
- 25:07time doing it and that make them want
- 25:10to be a part of it.
- 25:16so anyway that's all i have to say
- 25:21about that um maybe someone will listen
- 25:29maybe not i think it's just it's just
- 25:31a cool way to spread the word of
- 25:33what crossfit has done for so many people
- 25:35in the world um we'll see
- 25:42Last thing I want to kind of share
- 25:44with you is about a little over a
- 25:48year ago,
- 25:49I formed a partnership with Ishmael
- 25:53Garcia.
- 25:55And he has been at events taking pictures
- 26:00and video for me.
- 26:02And it has worked out really well.
- 26:04I just want to brag on him.
- 26:07His stuff is so good and so artistic.
- 26:12Here's some of the stuff that he has
- 26:13done.
- 26:15I love his angles.
- 26:17I love what he does.
- 26:18tries to accomplish with his photos and He
- 26:22gives us a presence at so many different
- 26:25events I'm just really happy that we
- 26:28formed this partnership and if you aren't
- 26:32already Please go check him out Here is
- 26:36his Instagram Eastma captures
- 26:47Go check him out on Instagram.
- 26:51He does an amazing job.
- 26:54And really,
- 26:54really love the stuff he puts out.
- 26:58And like I can text him and say,
- 27:00hey, I need a picture of this.
- 27:02And he sends it to me to use
- 27:04in thumbnails.
- 27:08But here's some of his stuff from Tear
- 27:11Cup this weekend.
- 27:14And what I really love is he didn't
- 27:17just do elites.
- 27:19He did a whole series here of the
- 27:23RX and the,
- 27:24the community divisions of people working
- 27:28out.
- 27:31I thought this was really cool.
- 27:45so make sure you go check him out
- 27:51here's some more from the community
- 27:52division or this is ellie turner uh so
- 27:57that's all ellie turner this one these are
- 27:59really good um i love the the shooting
- 28:04ones i mean that picture came out really
- 28:14well
- 28:24But anyway,
- 28:29make sure to go check him out, please,
- 28:31because he's just really good.
- 28:39The Erg shoot was dope,
- 28:40and they have an AR, too.
- 28:42It's cool.
- 28:43Yeah, I'd like to try it sometime.
- 28:51Like we said last night,
- 28:51I think that would have been a really
- 28:52cool event.
- 28:54except for the broadcast,
- 28:55you could not see the colors of the
- 28:57light.
- 28:58So you couldn't tell if they hit or
- 28:59missed.
- 29:00You're just kind of guessing.
- 29:03And my one little criticism with the tear
- 29:08cup was the rep counters were not doing
- 29:10a good job on the broadcast.
- 29:13those needed to be better.
- 29:15So it was really hard to see who
- 29:16was in the lead or not because you
- 29:18couldn't see the lights turn red or green.
- 29:21Um,
- 29:21but at the Olympics they have like a
- 29:24dedicated camera right for the target.
- 29:26And it's usually in a little box in
- 29:28the lower corner of the screen.
- 29:30And then you can see like,
- 29:31did they hit or not?
- 29:33Um,
- 29:35So I think that if they did something
- 29:38like that,
- 29:39it would be an epic event where the
- 29:41broadcast could actually see if they hit
- 29:43or didn't hit.
- 29:44So, yeah.
- 29:52I missed all that action.
- 29:53It would have been like two or three
- 29:54a.m.
- 29:55for me.
- 29:56Yeah,
- 29:56that's why you do what I do and
- 29:57just go to sleep and then wake up
- 29:59the next morning.
- 29:59And that's what I do in the morning
- 30:04over my breakfast.
- 30:09Joseph Ramirez,
- 30:10we used a version of it for op
- 30:11training a few times.
- 30:14That's cool.
- 30:14That's really cool.
- 30:17Chris Beesterfield, I need a ding sound.
- 30:21Like a ching, something like that.
- 30:25Like bullet hitting metal.
- 30:28That'd be cool too.
- 30:31Uh, I just, yeah,
- 30:33something to indicate that they hit or
- 30:35missed.
- 30:36I think,
- 30:36I guess from people that were there,
- 30:39I heard that the lights were much easier
- 30:40to see.
- 30:41You could tell green or red.
- 30:44Um, but on the broadcast,
- 30:45you could not see that light at all.
- 30:48Um,
- 30:49so it really just was someone like
- 30:50pointing and you didn't even know they'd
- 30:52pulled the trigger or not.
- 30:54Um,
- 30:57So, yeah.
- 30:58But again, if you go watch, like,
- 31:00I think it's the biathlon in the Winter
- 31:03Olympics where they ski and then shoot.
- 31:06They have a little dedicated box in the
- 31:08lower corner of the screen that is the
- 31:11target.
- 31:12And you can see if they hit or
- 31:14didn't hit.
- 31:15And then above that,
- 31:16they usually have like.
- 31:19however many targets they have to hit,
- 31:20like five, I think it is,
- 31:24they leave them, they're blank,
- 31:26and then they're either filled with an X
- 31:29or they fill in a hole if they
- 31:31hit or missed.
- 31:32If they hit it,
- 31:33it fills in a hole.
- 31:35If they missed,
- 31:36it's an X in that little spot.
- 31:42And then in that sport, if you miss,
- 31:45you have to do a penalty lap.
- 31:48So there's a little small circle that you
- 31:51have to go around each time you miss
- 31:53the target.
- 31:55And that'd be a cool way to add
- 31:56that into a CrossFit event.
- 32:00You have five shots for everyone you hit.
- 32:05You're clean for everyone you missed.
- 32:07Maybe you do a muscle-up or maybe you
- 32:09do a burpee or something like that.
- 32:15That would be cool.
- 32:18or even, you know,
- 32:19remember the one year at the games,
- 32:21every time you broke your muscle ups,
- 32:22you had to run, um,
- 32:24a lap around the rig.
- 32:26Um,
- 32:26that was back in Carson in the day.
- 32:28So they actually had penalty laps, um,
- 32:31back.
- 32:31I think it was like,
- 32:33it was like Noah's rookie season, like,
- 32:35uh, if you broke your muscle ups,
- 32:39you had to run a penalty lap around
- 32:41the rig.
- 32:42And that was,
- 32:43that added a lot to the event.
- 32:46Um,
- 32:48So yeah.
- 32:52Burpees if you miss.
- 32:53Perfect.
- 32:55Shanna, hopefully they aren't colorblind.
- 32:57Yeah.
- 32:58Yeah,
- 32:59there's ways to do it without using color,
- 33:01but I just wish it was something for
- 33:04us to understand.
- 33:05Sometimes you had the judge in the picture
- 33:09and he would throw his arm up if
- 33:10they hit.
- 33:11And so that made it better for that.
- 33:14But the judge wasn't always there in the
- 33:18picture on the broadcast.
- 33:21Yeah.
- 33:23But I think it's a cool event for
- 33:25something like this.
- 33:26I don't think it would ever be at
- 33:27the games,
- 33:29but I like it in these types of
- 33:31events.
- 33:31And again,
- 33:32what I said last night is I thought
- 33:34that the tier cup was very watchable and
- 33:38one of my favorite events from the year.
- 33:40I love the trash talking.
- 33:41I love the back and forth.
- 33:43Um, I love the events.
- 33:45I thought they were fun to watch.
- 33:47The only one that I really had a
- 33:49hard time was the erg shoot just because
- 33:51you couldn't see if they hit or missed,
- 33:54but like I tell you that burpee deadlift
- 33:58workout,
- 33:59which I would never have thought was cool,
- 34:01looked like art when they were
- 34:03synchronized.
- 34:04Um,
- 34:06When you look at Dallin and Alexis
- 34:08synchroed so much,
- 34:10and even Pat and Danielle,
- 34:13they were just on fire.
- 34:15And it looked so cool.
- 34:19It was very, very watchable,
- 34:20very fun to watch.
- 34:24And I really enjoyed it.
- 34:29And maybe we can learn something from this
- 34:32for the teams going forward to make them
- 34:34more watchable.
- 34:36Cause I like the concept of the team,
- 34:38but man, it's, it's,
- 34:41it's hard to watch when there's so many
- 34:43people on the floor.
- 34:46I wish we could figure that out,
- 34:51but that is for another day.
- 34:54I want to thank everybody for being here.
- 34:58Tomorrow we do Cook and Cajun with Corey.
- 35:01So he'll be on tomorrow with me.
- 35:03And then, yeah, we'll finish out the week.
- 35:12Lito,
- 35:12thoughts on Alexis Raptus and her injury
- 35:14conditions.
- 35:16Is she the new Bethany Flores?
- 35:21So here's what I'll say about Bethany.
- 35:23She's one of the toughest people I've ever
- 35:25met in my life.
- 35:27What she fought through all those years to
- 35:30finish top ten at the Games twice was
- 35:34amazing.
- 35:39I don't think she ever reached her full
- 35:41potential because of the injuries,
- 35:43and that's sad to me.
- 35:46and the year that she tested positive for
- 35:48covid at the games and couldn't compete
- 35:51makes me very sad I watched her at
- 35:53West Coast Classic dominate dominate a
- 35:56very tough field beating Carrie Pierce and
- 35:59Danielle Brandon at that event and crush
- 36:02them um
- 36:08So while, yes,
- 36:10she had a lot of injuries, and yes,
- 36:12you never knew if she was going to
- 36:13be able to make it through the season
- 36:14or not, when she did,
- 36:16she was phenomenal in what she pushed
- 36:18through.
- 36:23But it's sad to me that she never
- 36:26reached the full potential of what she
- 36:28could have been on the floor.
- 36:30If you talk to her,
- 36:33She's really,
- 36:33really wrestled with it and gotten to a
- 36:36place where she understands it.
- 36:38And there are bigger things in her life
- 36:39now than that.
- 36:41And I need to have her on the
- 36:45show again and talk to her about that.
- 36:47But when it comes to Alexis,
- 36:50I think Alexis is just struggling to
- 36:52figure out what her body can and cannot
- 36:54take.
- 36:56She has that condition where her digestive
- 37:00system
- 37:01goes wacky on her and i'm sure the
- 37:05stress of a competition adds to that and
- 37:09i don't know what the cause of the
- 37:12echo fran issue was whether it was her
- 37:15digestive system or whether it was just
- 37:17her hitting complete fatigue um or
- 37:24complete dehydration or whatever it was
- 37:28but
- 37:29it just seems like the one thing holding
- 37:31her back is figuring out how to feed
- 37:35and fuel her body during a competition
- 37:38week where it doesn't upset her body.
- 37:41And I just, I, I,
- 37:46is she going to be the next Bethany
- 37:47Flores?
- 37:47She may be that.
- 37:49We just don't know if she's ever going
- 37:50to be healthy in that moment that she
- 37:52needs to be.
- 37:54Um,
- 37:58So, yeah, I think it's a valid question,
- 38:00Lito.
- 38:01I just don't know the answer yet because
- 38:04it was my understanding that she had
- 38:06figured it all out and that she was
- 38:08going to be able to – she figured
- 38:12out what the fuel needed to be for
- 38:14a competition weekend.
- 38:20So I hope she can figure it out.
- 38:23Shanna, our resident medical expert,
- 38:26probably a combination of both.
- 38:28Crohn's is autoimmune and stressing the
- 38:30body isn't helpful.
- 38:36I've had a few athletes on, uh,
- 38:39from the semi final level and they fight
- 38:43autoimmune all the time.
- 38:45And it's really like,
- 38:48it takes a lot of work to figure
- 38:49out what you can push,
- 38:51what you can't push,
- 38:53how you can relax more in those
- 38:54situations.
- 38:55So you don't get a flare up during
- 38:57the weekend.
- 38:59Um,
- 39:01and so I have the utmost respect for
- 39:02people who are able to compete through
- 39:05those,
- 39:06those issues and try to figure it out.
- 39:09Um, and,
- 39:13and I know a handful of them through
- 39:14conversations with them over the years.
- 39:17Um,
- 39:17and it just amazes me what they're able
- 39:19to do.
- 39:21You know, here I am, I,
- 39:24a little bit achy and I'm complaining at,
- 39:26uh, um,
- 39:29I'm a little bit achy and I'm a
- 39:31workout and I act like a baby sometimes.
- 39:35And these people are trying to figure out
- 39:37like way bigger issues.
- 39:42Didn't Colton have an autoimmune too?
- 39:43He did.
- 39:46And I think if you asked him,
- 39:47he had a hard time figuring out things
- 39:50as well.
- 39:50Now he hired, um,
- 39:53he hired a nutrition expert to help him
- 39:55out.
- 39:56And he says that has made a world
- 39:58of difference.
- 39:59And I know that that is a thing
- 40:00too, with autoimmune,
- 40:01if you can figure the right diet to
- 40:03support it, uh, it can,
- 40:05it can help alleviate some of the symptoms
- 40:08and some of the flare ups that come
- 40:10with that.
- 40:11So, um,
- 40:14So I know when I've talked to Colton
- 40:16at events,
- 40:17he has really given a lot of thanks
- 40:23to, I think her name is Amy,
- 40:25who has helped him with his nutrition
- 40:29because it's made a world of difference
- 40:31for him.
- 40:36So, yeah.
- 40:39It's crazy what they go through and what
- 40:43they're willing to do to compete in this
- 40:48sport while going through all that.
- 40:51It's crazy.
- 40:52And Colton's flare-up was really serious.
- 40:54I think he lost his eyesight for a
- 40:58little bit of time.
- 41:01So it's no joke.
- 41:04I'm glad he's been able to figure out
- 41:06a way to not flare up as much.
- 41:12With that, guys,
- 41:14I'm going to get back to work.
- 41:18You knuckleheads,
- 41:19you better get back to work too.
- 41:21But we'll see you tomorrow for lunch with
- 41:23the Clydesdale.
- 41:24Bye, guys.
