- 0:23[SPEAKER_04]: a 47-D season and a season of life in the other and naturely baseball history from one of the Cognitive Junior.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_04]: There's a drag right on the Man of Heaven, the Man of Heaven, the Man of Heaven, amazing.
- 0:45[UNKNOWN]: He is happy.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_04]: He hits this one hard.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_04]: He hits the Man of Heaven, like Trump, that's ripped them all wrong.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_04]: What's up, guys?
- 0:49[SPEAKER_04]: My truck.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_04]: Listen to sports car CEO.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_04]: It's current.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_04]: Buff on hand.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: We got Bubba in the house, we got Ham in the House, but no Kern.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: Fallen soldiers every week now.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: We've always got one soldier that's out for different reasons.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny because my family was in Florida and now Kern's family's in Florida.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: So wanting to stay true to brand and bring out content every single week.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_03]: Bubba and Ham.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: We said, you know what, boys, we're going to jump on.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_03]: It is the Friday after Christmas, but we are going to just do our thing.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: And we appreciate everybody tuning in and being a part of the podcast journey.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: So did you see how relaxed Karn looked ham yesterday on his Instagram post?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think a picture of it.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, a little beach photo like his feet dang went out of the front.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's a little music plan.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: He just looked like.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: He was, even this was the getaway he needed.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm happy for current.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: We got to go spend some family time and just connect a bit because it's been a It's been a big year for all three of us and not only just on the show obviously But just in life, I mean just a life continues to happen outside of the show And take a little breather here at the end of the year I think is needed for all three of us.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: We've gone hard this year
- 2:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's smart and and but you know you weren't able to join us last week because you had some family stuff and just everything's moving in a good direction Yeah, well, we can't go through the week.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: I can go ahead and do that.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to go through our weeks this last week 10 days by the hardest 10 days of my life Honestly, and I'm never going to be one on this show that's going to hide from reality I mean, that's what I want to bring to the show is and I've seen tears of my eyes as I talk right now
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: I have, it's been a struggle, it's been a real struggle.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Just man, a lot of stuff going on in the year, syllable business, all kinds of stuff going on, and then to have my dad, right there who's my best friend, been my best friend since I was gay tall, go through what he's gone through and see him, really just mentally struggle, you know, an emotionally struggle like he has, has really torn my heart out, and then to have the holidays kind of stacked up on top of that,
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: the Christmas spirit this year, which I hate.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I was able to really, I've been able to dig in, I have to dig in on myself a little bit here the last 10 days and really deal with probably what I would call the first middle breakdown of my life, where I literally was having panic attacks at one o'clock in the morning and two o'clock in the morning.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: daily and I've just kind of had to work through that and I've had to figure out like why is this happening outside of the obvious all the outside pressures and what's next and really through prayer, you know, and just digging deep inside of myself has just been like you
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: I need to dig even deeper into the word and and and that's what I'm going to do at in 2026.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that's been I really had a dig inside of myself to get through this.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: And so even as I said here today, the anxiety is probably higher than it normally is.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm probably won't be the
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: loud, boastrous, you know, bone and formery are used to, maybe for a week or two, as I tried.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: I got to keep myself a little more subdued, but yeah.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: So the card front for me has definitely taken a backseat in the last couple weeks.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oddly enough, I still kind of, I was texting, hey, I'm yesterday about keeping my pulse on it a little bit, but in a different way.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: I've kind of been thinking about,
- 4:11[SPEAKER_02]: PC stuff right now.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of down from Bowman looking at and some Babe Ruth and just some grail stuff.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: Some stuff that I haven't really looked at.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: But I just just all of our listeners, you know, just can't tell y'all enough.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I had so many people reach out to me about my dad and
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: what I was going through and just can't thank you enough for, you know, caring about that.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: But I just will say, like, doing this life alone without, you know, faith or anything, I mean, I can just tell you that there's no other way to go than to have no have a relationship with God.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: And it's been, it's been big for me.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, I'm never going to hide behind this microphone and the screen and be, be fake with y'all.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's been tough.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: But we're going to get through it.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm excited about what I consider
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: Um, which is coming the next couple weeks, two, three, four weeks, you know, having RM on multiple times, most likely and going over buys and sells and prospects and the new release that's coming out.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, to me, like the Super Bowl of Bowman and baseball, you know, it's just like you can see it.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's kind of like spring training right now for us, like you know it's there.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're almost we're almost time for us to report for our own spring training here and so I'm excited.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I had that in the background, really I'm looking forward to that and.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, February march is so fun in this in this game in April, you know, having the new season start and seeing guys perform and not perform and so I'm excited.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of things to be excited for a lot of things to be thankful for and I guess that's what we'll call this episode for myself would be just very grateful.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just have a lot of gratitude and and a very humble here in the last 10 days.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like a very I've been humbled quite a bit, which is sometimes a really good thing.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_03]: And that's my week.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: Well, as always, man, appreciate your transparency and vulnerability.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I think I've been around creating a lot of content over the last 10, 15 years of my life between right in my book and doing a ton of speaking and doing, you know, corporate consulting and individual one-on-one,
- 6:14[SPEAKER_03]: You know coaching and life coaching and all that kind of stuff and I've just I've been around that and I think truly one of the things that's great about what we do on the show is building a sense of community and a sense of connectivity where people feel like that they can relate you know and that there's relatability there in relatability comes from being vulnerable.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I appreciate you sharing buddy.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been honored to be able to stay connected with you, checking on, you know, it kind of stuff and appreciate our friendships.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_03]: So similarly, in a posture of gratitude, you know, hamhouse, our kids are getting older this year, right?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_03]: So Christmas is changing, you know, used to when we had the boys were little and Matthew was five, six, seven years old and the twins were two, three, four years old.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: It was different.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: And now, you know, Matthew being 15, the twins being 14 and our oldest, our youngest daughter is now six.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of like that season of Christmas is ended.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: And so this year Christmas for us was almost like lamenting a loss.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's changed, you know, like Christmas isn't what it used to be.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's very different.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's evolved.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_03]: And to that point, I think when things change and evolve, you can look at that with a
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, sense of sorrow or loss or whatever.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: There's a morning or a grieving there.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: But for me, this year, it's just like, okay, new season ahead.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it doesn't look like it used to look.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: And I can wish that it looks that way.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: Or I can sit here and go, you know what?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: It's good.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's good.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's different, but it's good.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: And so one of the gifts, my wife and I really don't give gifts.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_03]: Never really have over Christmas, but this year, we both said we need it for our own personal health.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: We got like a home steam sauna.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I was shocked.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's not very expensive, like for what we got, but it's like an individual telephone booth that you can like pump steaming to.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: And so we were like, all right, let's just so the last couple of days, she and I have both been spending some time in there and it's good.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_03]: And this morning I was in there like stuff.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_03]: I was praying and just kind of thinking through like
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: that reflection on the year and I'm huge on taking the last little bit of the year to reflect and to be great and see my birthday is December 29th so it's on Monday and so that always comes with the sense of reflection and looking forward or whatever so I've always been in that mindset so definitely there with you bro and certainly think it's good for anybody who's in business your personal life to take time to do that.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, you're skin.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell you've been in a sauna.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: Your skin looks really nice and moisturized.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's good, that's the reason why.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: So on the card front, man, you know, I was there in there this morning and I was just like holy crap, like little mat and on Christmas Eve, sat down and we did like top five cards of the year.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: in top five moments of the year.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm sitting here going like, what did we actually get to experience this year?
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you got to be kidding me.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we're at the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby, we're at the Players Party, we're ripping wax, you know what I mean?
- 9:04[SPEAKER_03]: With you guys down there, we're interviewing Mike Mayhand at cards HQ, we're interviewing Mike Trout, we got Connor Griffin on, the pod is booming, you know, we're traveling to the National
- 9:14[SPEAKER_03]: I told a little Matt, I was like, do, can you believe that we get to do this?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I'm so just wow, you know, just wow.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: And I said, if 26 is going to top 25, it's going to have to be crazy.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's been a really big year.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_03]: So that's kind of the card front.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_03]: But that said, diving in on the cards out of things, Gary.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we wanted to take today to make a little announcement about, you know, kind of our interaction, you know, you personally
- 9:42[SPEAKER_03]: to have him to, you know, kind of what we got ahead and to do that.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to bring in a little mat to join us.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Let's stop.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Let's stop.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Let's stop.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let's stop.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, I'll do it today.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's a little mat doing good.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_03]: So, Baba, do you want to, you want to kind of kick off the Genesis?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: I just love that this would be an interesting thing to share to the show.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: We've been waiting for the right moment to kind of share it.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: So, as you guys know,
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: for the show.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: We've become friends, we've done deals together, and I've gotten to know them, and just to know what both of the Ham's bring, what little Matt brains and big Matt brings to the table.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I've had my own card business that I would consider more of a shorter term card business that I've started about a year ago.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: I still have my normal prospecting stuff that I do cut on my own and PC stuff.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: similar to the hams.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: They have their own PC stuff.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: But we both had more shorter term, like business.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: You buy a card, you look to grade it, or you look to buy it and flip it and sell it.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: And this opportunity came up, or thought came up, I guess I would say about a month and a half two months ago, where I call big mats at, hey, what do you think about joining forces?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: When you think about taking what you guys do well,
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: And what we kind of do well over here and putting those two things together, so we've done that.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: When we started slowly, we're kind of learning through, you know, things together, what we should do, how we should pay, how we should buy, how we should sell, just kind of our system.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: So we thought we'd share a little bit about that today.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: Some of the challenges that things that have been,
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: easy, the things that have been hard, and the things we're kind of, you know, how this market is, because it's not the same card market that we were in six months ago.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the same card market we were in two years ago, for sure.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: But six months ago, it's changed quite a bit.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that would share that a little bit today.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: So exciting stuff for us, you know, to kind of bring handouts, sports, and and Bowman farmer initiatives together to kind of create kind of a conglomerate, right?
- 11:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's, uh,
- 11:38[SPEAKER_03]: is to dream team baby, bring in the dream team together to do some stuff and that's been super fun and little Matt is kind of the driver of that as somebody who is super plugged in to the card hobby and you know again I'm as dad so I can say whatever I want to save as dad but you know the dude knows what he's doing and he's very very very intelligent regarding the card market
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I would say that he probably listens to watches and consumes as much content as anybody which is what leads that, you know, kind of like drive in him to understand the market and so little Matt's kind of the one who's primarily sourcing and looking at buying and, you know, kind of channeling cards and stuff.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: So anyway, little Matt, well, you're kind of we're going to thoughts on this.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, as soon as my dad told me the idea, I mean, I was super pumped on it because I felt the issue is, I mean, I'm just gonna tell a story.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: So our buddy Ricky had a Brady Bowman contenders auto in the PSA 7 auto 10.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: And he won a 20,000 for it.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: And Big Matt's like, I don't know.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we have the cash to do it for the national.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: And all right, so we did it by for 20,000.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Ricky ended up selling it like a month later for 34,000.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: this opportunity right here with Gary gives an opportunity to make plays like that.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: If I can sit on a big card like that, it gives me an opportunity to do stuff like that.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: And already, I've bought cards that I wouldn't have been able to buy just through me.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I really like how it's going to be.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like Gary says, go to a little slow now over the holidays, but I will say the first week, two weeks of it, we got some really nice ones.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: So some quality stuff and I'm glad
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what makes this challenging, you know, what makes this challenging from what I've seen y'all can touch on this as well, but is this is again, that want to be clear on this like we're not prospecting won't turn here, okay, so we're not looking at guys that are we think are going to be good a year from now.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: Or two years from now.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if we were to do that, I think some of these things would be it'd be a little easier to go out and buy because it's, you know, you don't really know what's going to happen a year or two.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: You're just guessing right when you're trying to have certainty on making money and doing something in 30 or 60 days you want to know.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: You want to know what you're buying, where are the values that, how you can move it, how you can sell it, and the market is tied on that right now.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: The market is really tied on those cards.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you have to sometimes reach to go out and get things that you would have gotten in the past.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: You have to go to different channels, and I think that's been the biggest eye opener for me, because I've generally lived in the longer term flip game anyway.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: I've always been, hey, I'm gonna buy it, I believe in the guy, I'm gonna hold it for six months to a year over the last year.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: I've become a little more like, hey, I'm more of a quick look guy.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna buy and flip because of really you guys.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: And that's interesting to me to see how specifically in the Bowman space, like the inventory is so low.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: It is so hard to find these guys because everybody's just sitting there waiting for this magic moment.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: The question I have for YouTube guys
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: y'all believe there's going to be a magic moment ahead February March where guys sort of opening up the the book bags and saying here's this card you've been looking for or is it going to be a call up or something or are they going to try to hold for the the long long term want to get y'all the opinions on that because it that to me feels very different.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: I can hit on this first because what you just said, opening the book bag with all the bum and I think that's a problem because I know we're going to open the book bag with all our bum and a march and other people are doing it too.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: How many buyers are there really in March on bum and because think about it, everyone has to say my dear right now, buy bum and right now that low and sell high in March.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: But what if, like, in the next 60 days through January and February, what if these are the selling times?
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: What if everyone is thinking, like, you know, Gary, you told this to me on the Sunday other day.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: You were thinking, oh, the best time to sell footballs right before the season.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's when everybody's gonna want it.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: But...
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's time I fall on Bowman right now.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone is going to unload the bag and march and they're not going to want to be buying anybody because they're having that, everyone, me, Big Mac, Gary, all the same plan.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Buy right now, sell a march, but I think we need to take a strategy with our business to if someone wants the card right now, oh, it's not a way to march and save $2,000 and maybe sell $2,000 more, but potentially lose $10,000 on the card because
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like Jackson Holiday, me and Big Mac, it's so well on him because we didn't get greedy and we get a hold into his call up when he went over 30.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: Me and Big Mac, he could have been an all star, but me and Big Mac sold out really early and I think it was this smart move to do.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I just wanted to, you know, kind of point on that how like everyone has the same idea of selling more.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe something great.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think one of the things that I recognize Gary is the market, the card market, the hobbyist, the business, everybody's gotten smarter.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, a lot smarter.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I mean, if you think about this, the card hobby's been around for a long time, but the card hobby has not been around in its current form for a long time.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_03]: 2020 revolutionized the card market.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_03]: There was not a lot of people doing the repat game was not what it is.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_03]: The breaking game was not what it is.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_03]: The secondary market was not what it is.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_03]: The auction houses were not what they were.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you look at this dude, you know, and again, like him don't like him, whatever.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_03]: Ken Golden having this Netflix show, The Golden Touch.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do you know how many eyes that brings to the collectibles hobby?
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: And now you have a ton of refined smart business capital entering the card hobby.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_03]: And so you better sharpen your game and find out how you can be a part of the hobby and what used to work two months ago, two years ago, it doesn't necessarily work anymore.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: So that being said, you know, a couple of years ago, you could get away with buying in the offseason and selling in the preseason.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: Well, now people see whether it be prospect performance or freshman quarterback performances or whatever, that kind of stuff doesn't fly.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, used to be like you said, you could sell sticker autos, you could sell insert autos, you could sell whatever.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_03]: And now,
- 17:41[SPEAKER_03]: You know, people are looking at the refined low population high demand top quality top shelf type cards and when those cards aren't off the market, it creates a really interesting dynamic for buyers like us who really want to acquire those cards, you know, and it creates that kind of tension, the buy sell demand tension.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: So I think the market right now is a smarter market.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it requires you to be on top of your game.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_03]: You can't get away with as much as you may be out of way with a couple of years ago, you're a guy.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I do want to hit on little math point about kind of the NFL because I thought about this a lot.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, I think I want to make this point think Bowman and specifically baseball has taken that top spot in the hobby.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know where it was clear at one point, a couple of years ago that baseball had lost that spot.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: a couple of years ago, just for about a year or two around COVID, I mean, all the new money coming in, poured into people, well, people lost their, you know what, in, in that space, time and time again.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, you had people trying to play that game and they did the flipers and I think what ended up happening is I look at this.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: The money, the people that came in, you had COVID money, which was everybody.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there was just, when I say everybody, it was the early adopter to come into cards.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a lot of people came in, a lot of people make some quick money, and then you get a lot of people lose a lot of quick money.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: And you had this group of people that left the hobby, and you had new groups of people coming in behind that, and they've continued to flow in with fanatics by the droves, right, more and more and more people coming in.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: But the ones that made it through,
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: I've gotten smarter, so where am I going to put my money?
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: But then beyond that group, now you've got business men and women coming in and saying, you know what?
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at this as an asset class.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm no longer looking at this as only like, I'm going to go in and flip this and make a quick two grand.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're looking at this and saying, hey, I got my 401k over here and I got my cards over here.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I think for the first time in a long time,
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: I truly think that a lot of cards are starting to be look at at its asset class.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: And you can look at Bowman as an asset class when a player truly becomes my trout, right?
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's an asset class, it is.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think you've got people that are starting to realize on this prospect game that people view it that way.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I honestly, on the flip side of what Little Matt said about, I think a little Matt, I thought about what you said.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that the way you're thinking is wrong,
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the baseball market is going to continue to get stronger.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: I really do, and I can, hey, I'm you and I talked about this a year and a half ago.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: I had a lot of fear about this market, feel recall.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, man, I think we may be in a bubble.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I honestly believe the sports card hobby isn't the strongest place.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: It has ever been since I've been involved by far and away.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: The money pouring in.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: the support into the hobby, the PR that it's getting, the way businesses are getting involved, the way asset classes are being discussed into me.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're just in the right spot right now.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: Bowman is, if you look at baseball and you guys, we can talk about debut patches and we did and we can talk about top-scrowned Bowman's best and all this Bowman true color up to 499.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: autographs of good play with is always gonna play in my that is the creme de la creme and people take it takes some time for them to figure that out but the game we are playing we are playing in the asset class in my opinion you talk to me the other day mad about 33 goutty roofs you're like man that is the iconic that is what you want to own when it comes to roof right not the leaf not the nineteen forty nine forty eight leaf yeah
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: I look at Bowman that way right now.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: You can go out there and buy top scrim.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: You can go out there and buy all this other crap to me.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you're out there buying that stuff, I'm not telling you you're not going to make money.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm telling you that if I'm looking for a place that I think is going to be bread and butter, people are going to be seeking it a year from now, five years from now, 10 years from now, 20 years from now.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: it's a moment.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just look at the cases in the case, you want to know the value, look at the value of the cases a year, two, three years on the road.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: Go look at what top's chrome, this year's top chrome will sell for a year, too.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be half the price.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: You look at Bowman.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: It always increases because these guys that are in there.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: So in my opinion, I've never felt stronger about what we're
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: the playing field that we're playing in now I will say with that being said with my strong sentiment and feeling there's a lot of other people that have that feeling and the prices reflected.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the prices reflect a strong market.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: You can't go in now and say, you know what?
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you've got a conner blue.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to pay 85% someone's going to go, oh, thank you so much.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: I want that.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: You got to pay a hundred.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes you got to pay a hundred ten percent because you believe in the player and the opportunity.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: And to me, that's challenging when we're used to playing in a game, but we could pick stuff off.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, little Matt, you were the king of picking stuff off, right?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: You guys, I mean, the old business has been built around finding great deals.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: Mine too, right?
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: Fine trying to find possibly, but the reality is we're going to have to change.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to have to have that conviction to say like we have on a couple players.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's the key to make money in this thing is having a conviction on someone that you know we have information and it to us.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: Conner Griffin everybody knows about Kevin McGonaga guys reality is nothing.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably only 10% of the baseball world that they've been knows who those people are right now in reality.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's the beautiful thing about bum and Murphy.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew, let's say one thing, and I'll let you roll.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_03]: The one thing that I love about bum and two, Gary, and this is it creates an insulated environment, is back in the day, a guy didn't get a baseball card.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: Really, until he debuted in the major leagues.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_03]: King Griffy debuted, he got a baseball card.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_03]: Now, they get a baseball card when they get drafted.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: And when they get put picked up on a major league team, and what you have is this incredible ground swell of initial momentum for these players, but then when they debut, I do think about this.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_03]: Did anybody outside of like mainstream really know who Nick Kurtz was before last year?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: Did anybody really know who Junior Cameron era was before last year?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, did anybody really know who James Wood or Pete Crow Armstrong were before last no, they didn't.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_03]: And so what happens is, is now the sudden these guys are popping on highlight reels and all of the James Wood has 20 home runs through whatever and then everybody goes, oh my gosh, I'm a big nationals fan, I'm a big cubs fan, I'm a big, you know, raise fan, I want to go get this guy.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: So people start flooding and that's what drives that market and that's a good thing.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: The problem is there's so much speculation
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: in the early adopters that, you know, the price points already driven so high that that kind of creates some tension when those guys do pop off, that people are going to go buy him, but I would 1000% agree that Bowman is the most refined card vertical in the game.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: It is a very refined buyer and it's super, super strong and I love it for that reason.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: A little minute, I know you have a lot of thoughts on this, but a little minute, you have got the way little Matt thinks about this.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you should share a little bit about this, because to me, that's how we all should be thinking about this.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: And you look at it with stocks.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Stocks hit high, stocks hit low, stocks, you know, and you look at Jackson Holiday.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, we've talked about Roman Anthony.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about Ellie.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: And you can look at these guys and Pat, when you have highs of certain levels of cards, sets of bar, it sets the standard for where somebody can go.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: So we can talk about McGonagole and Griffin and weatherhole, if those guys continue to rise, and they are the dude, okay, if Connor is the dude, look at where Jackson holiday spends peaked, look at where his blues peaked, look at where Ellie peaked and little mat, you do that really well, you look at these refractors as well, and to me, that's what I think is going to be really interesting about this year.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think as strong as baseball is, little metal that you hit on this,
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: I think that the the the highest peaks potentially are going to be hit because there's that much pressure behind the buying it feels like Ellie time all over again.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know the craziest time I ever remember in Bowman was not Jackson holiday.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: It was not Roman Anthony.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean it literally was like ridiculous.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: So little amount want you to kind of hit on that if you would Because I think your your ability to go back and look at past for fracker prices and blues and see what those highs are is really where the opportunity is when you when you're hitting on these big names
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny because the helicopter, we've never owned a helicopter in our lives.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: And the day before Ellie's call up, we got a true blue 10 of Ellie.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Me and dad did.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's upset when it's like $5,800 and we pay like $3,000.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, I think it's a great point that you made about, um, I mean, Ellie, because we were on the phone the other day and I said, you know, holiday based auto's picked up $600.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: And because, well, I think the real thing is, um, how much boom is already going up?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: Because we were buying countergrifts and based auto's, we bought 18 of them.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Two weeks three weeks ago for $330 a piece and being transparent out here.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: They're already doing over $450 right now And I called Gary that said, Gary, I said, are we still buying at $450 or we can't hold that when we said what the hell did I get to?
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: I said $600.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: He said what it only gets you I said $800.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, let's keep buying and
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think that point, I think Carter Griffin not only has the opportunity to get to those prices, but the Bowman market is so much stronger to win all of them is doing 600 first Carter Griffin right now.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, I wanted to make about it is Gary said that the football used to be everyone used to want to football because
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: When we were in Bowman, you know, the football quarterback to everyone want to work.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Herbert, a great class right here.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have as much strong football class.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like Spencer Rattler, Pam Warner.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a strong football class right now.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: But the Bowman class is adds to losing staff right now.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: So when people see the top 100 list stats, they shift over to Bowman.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: So that brings me to another point.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: The basketball classes here, the NBA classes, absolutely stacked.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you're going to see NBA prices start to go up very soon.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: Once people get into the stat class, then with flag and pinnacle, going back to the thing on the, on the price change.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: If Connor comes out and does something like, Ella does, feels home, hits a double, off the wall, and it's first, and I'll be at that.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's where holidays were at debut.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they based all of the tens.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: Me and dad probably sold three of them at 1500 piece.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: In clarify that, you're saying roll base.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: So that puts a PSA 10 at.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: base.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: So let's talk about let's just talk about that one more.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know we got other things to hit on today too, but I want to go back to that time.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to remind myself this because this is this is whole conversation is reminded myself of bringing myself back to that time.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: That was not a strong Bowman time.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: That was that was a time to buy cars cheap, but that was a hard time.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: flippers, the football flippers were in Bowman, and it was a, it was, it was a good market to pick up from a flipper and try to flip again.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: Can I market?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: But it was not like this market.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: It was easier to find cars.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: You could pick stuff off.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: It was not a strong market.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was, it was, it was a propped up market where you look at holiday.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: I vividly remember the beginning of holiday was the beginning of this market where you had businessmen and people that didn't even know anything about prospects going
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and that's the kind of guy that you know, honestly, everybody's talking about Griffin, McGonagal could be the dude.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, McGonagal, best hitting tool in the class.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: I love Connor.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: Don't buy Cat McGonagal.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's an awful player.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I'm for sale.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: You can message me a hand has sports.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: I still think Connor is the dude, but McGonagal is that good, and so it's weather hole.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I think to your point, it is loaded not only with prospects, but we are loaded with young, major league baseball talent, plus the polarizing guys of Akuna, and Ellie, and all these other guys, and show hey Atame.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: We have Aaron Judge, but to this point with the holiday market, I want to say that it's to go back to that market.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Connor market is going to blow the holiday market out.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: I really, really do.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: The difference is you've got a guy who is Mike trout ability, potentially, playing shortstop.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I, when that's a huge statement to make when you say Mike trout ability, because when I say
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: speed, I mean, going a gun at your stop, six foot four, a huge dude, and going back to his story, Ham, we had him on.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: This dude has dominated at every level since he's been a kid.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this isn't a guy that is gun.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he's just a flash in the pan.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: He hit puberty and he became a baller.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's been, he's been a, this has been his deal, you know, and, and here we are, I'm gonna go ahead and make a bold statement.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think Connor or Frackers, if he calls, if he starts the spring up with the pirates, or he gets the call early in the season, I think by July 4th, his PSA 10s are over 2,000.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: Bays for Frackers.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, he may roll.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yeah, no, yeah, not like a 499, you mean his base auto, his base auto.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: The base autos 2K base auto, you can't appeal to again.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, not a 499 in that.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Well, one more point that I wanted to make off of Gary's saying about how many people are getting to the bum and market.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: Two years ago, we did a big deal with the guy and he sent us the card.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: He has like any interest and it was an early true blue black label.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think dad remembers this, but I do.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember this?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: I remember he's like, I've all the Bowman flipers hit me up and I get into you.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: We can all, we're all thinking like the same three people right now.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: The Bowman flipers.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, all of them hit me up off from me, 18,000.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: And this quote has stuck with me ever since.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: He said, I don't want to sell to them.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: I want to sell it to the doctor and Ohio, who likes Ellie Daylock Cruz.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: And that's our best should be our gold mother, not to sell it to the flipper, but to sell it to the Dennis and Mississippi, who knew Connor Griffin when he was a kid and wants to get back in.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's the thing is your booming buyer is a refined buyer and when you truly see a lot of these high in low color go away, they're going away like these guys are going to buy them and they're not going to move them, you know what I mean, they're just they're there.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: How many people do you know in Momentin?
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're from Walker Jenkins, home, down.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: We've Walker Jenkins comes out these sub one day.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: How many people do you know that would say, oh, I need a Jenkins.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, it's like when Trot Nixon came through.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know, to me, and there's people who be like, oh, that's Trot, he's a hometown guy.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_03]: I want to go grab his stuff, you know, absolutely.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you have that kind of local swell.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: But then you got people who follow teams for years.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we just had a guy drop off a case of Red Sox cards.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: He collected Red Sox cards from 78 through 95, like his entire childhood.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_03]: And you know what I mean, it was pretty special because you see that this is a guy who just ate and slept red socks and he had every team set from 78 up to 95 well guess what they didn't have you know Bowman first autos then but if you have a guy like that.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_03]: starting in the hobby now.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_03]: And he's just looking to get Bowman first for fractures of his players.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that that that's what drives on the on the back end of this of the hobby.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: But I have two thoughts real quick.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to jump into this whole thing about Bowman.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_03]: It shows or whatever.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew, what's a Mike trout base auto PSA 10 doing right now?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: $8,000.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_03]: So a PSA 10, my trout rookie $2,000, $9,00, $8,000,000, $8,000,000, $8,000,000, $8,000,000, $8,000,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000, $8,000,
- 33:51[SPEAKER_03]: OK, so basically you've got judge trout and autonomy who are setting the high end of the market, autonomy to the moon's 6k.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_03]: But if you say 8 to 10k is the realistic value of a generational type player of a big product.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, again, that's a good kind of parameter for somebody to understand, because they go, how could this card be this expensive?
- 34:11[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Mike trout does 8k.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's how this card can be that expensive.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like, why is Bobby Witt base PSA 10?
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it only given 1500 cases?
- 34:19[SPEAKER_03]: I said fair question, but then this is where you're so good, Matthew, you can kind of see this almost like on a board and you start to see where value is.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_03]: Another thing I want to mention here before we dive in is what's unique is like Gary, you know, in business, right, you have the opportunity to recognize a moment when it's on you.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_03]: And you just see something where there's a missing dynamic within an industry.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_03]: And if you can step in and you can bring that to the table or you can capitalize on that moment in time,
- 34:48[SPEAKER_03]: The really interesting thing, you had Jackson Holiday, who's Matt Holiday son and all-star son, number one prospect in baseball.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_03]: You have him debuting alongside Paul Schenz, who had just won a college world series and had that ridiculous game where he pitched in the college world suit, right?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_03]: And you've got these two guys and you've got them in the hype around that, the media around that, the frenzy around that.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: So my point is we're in such a unique time because you have that kind of wave of those two dynamic talents being backed up by all of this crazy talent and then and a resurgence of major league baseball with a lot of eyes being on major league baseball is just a
- 35:31[SPEAKER_03]: really interesting times.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think right now to your point Gary is being in such a strong market is like recognize the moment we're in.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: I mean we're in a crazy moment for baseball to be super super strong Gary to just reiterate what you were saying.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, I want to move on to this next thought about Bowman and how it's never available and talk about card shows.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: Gary, I know that you've been to a couple of card shows in your life.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: That card shows are not necessarily your favorite environment.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_03]: Nope.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: We, on the other hand, have been to a lot of car shows and a current never goes to a car show unless he's making a celebrity appearance.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: And then he'll show up and sign a couple of autographs.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_03]: No, just kidding.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_03]: We love you, Kurt.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: But this idea of car shows, Matthew, how often do you see Bowman in cases at car shows?
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: There was one case at the Rally Car Joe with 500 tables that had Bowman.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a guy who had a Connor Goldschimmer
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I cornered true blue, non auto.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: Those were the only two like decent and great deal with it all the time and I bought both of them.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_03]: Do you you ever see a kunya bum and autos in cases?
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: rarely, and if I do, I buy them.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: There was there was one in Charlotte, I bought it.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Do you ever see Mike Trout, Bum and Autos in Cape?
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe one every Charlotte show.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_03]: Do you see Aaron Judge, Bum and Autos in Cape?
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe one every Charlotte show.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_03]: Some of my point is, do people own Mike Trout and Aaron Judge, Autos?
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but what do they not do?
- 36:59[SPEAKER_03]: Make them available at shelves.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_03]: So what's interesting to me is, would you want to own the stuff that's in everybody's case?
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: Or would you want to own the stuff that is in everybody's private case behind the booth?
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: Does it make sense?
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: That's why a bone is so special.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, point out, one of them make, I don't look, Gary, I'm not going to share the card.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: We bought mean gear.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: We, we, we also bought a big card together, true orange, great prospect.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: The last comp is like $3300.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's the last comp.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Gary said, all for $4,000.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: I offered $4,000, the person took it.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to make more money on that card than we will any other card.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: And that proves a point that like, I feel like we make more money on the cards we pay stronger for.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, when you know there's an opportunity and you can look at something and go, hey, I believe in the player.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: I believe in the projection.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: I believe in the time going forward.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: And you can look at the past also and say, why is this guy selling for less than he was selling for four months ago?
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: What's changed?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: He only performed better.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: He only has played.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you look at that right now.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: Look at all the MLB guys right now, we talked about Akunia.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be on the top of my list, ridiculously cheap for the type of player he is.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, for the type of talent he is, what he's already done, what he's already accomplished.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there are a lot of those buys out there.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, like if I can find those guys, I'm willing to pay strong because I know what the future value is.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even questioning it to say the likelihood, I'm not going to say it's 100%, but I'm going to say I feel 90% on that card you're talking about that we're going to make money.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: And when you have that type of feeling on something, you want to roll with it.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: But I do want to know this, because I have brought a lot of cards to card shows.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: I've been the dummy that has gone to the shows in broad truckloads,
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: of Bowman to shows and I vividly remember a culture collision.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: a couple years ago in my local show here in Atlanta, in having Bowman out, okay, and it was almost like people would walk by like I had a disease a couple years ago, two or three years ago, in this holiday period of time, and then they'd be like, oh my gosh, like I was going to go Bowman out, oh my gosh, and then just keep it walking by and they'd go by and pick up like some shudder Sanders prison mode today.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know who the player was in that time, but I mean,
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and they're all excited about that that they're going to go pick up.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: And now, you can go back to the culture collision show this year was the weakest culture collision that's been unfortunately.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: I was really looking forward to that show in a y'all were too.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: Just a week show, but I will say this, even though the show itself was weaker, the kind of gauking about the bone in this time, the kind of, oh, wow, that's, you know, I can't, I can't buy that much too big, but there was a lot of interest.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: There was a lot of people window shopping, a lot of people at the table wanting to see
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: and wanting to buy to never pull the trigger, but it was a totally different feel around Bowman, than what it was two or three years ago.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: Two or three years ago is a disease.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's like it's this desire.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's like this grail that's sitting there that they couldn't get to.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that's an interesting thing when you talk about where these cards are and it's only going to continue to go up because supply and demand is what keeps prices going up.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: And the supply is down, it's been down, demand is high, and if Connor or McGonagall or weatherhold or anybody else on this list of names goes off, the market is going to go absolutely new to your door behind them.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: And because DGG y'all think show Hay is going to go down next year.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: And that brings me to another segment we had.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's let's think on.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: So let's do that.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_03]: You Gary, you game for this.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's do it.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: It was a good transition.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_03]: Little Matt little Matt can we went there.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to show today.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_03]: He said, Hey, Dad, I want to do something with you and Gary.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: So this is little Matt little Matt's lead little Matt.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: Well, let you lead it.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_03]: Go ahead.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: So for the show, you know, these two guys, I argued my dad every day about his thoughts on the card market and we're going to do it right here live on the show.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to guess if the car's going to be up or down from where it currently is next person.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, December 26 next year.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: Gary, I know you haven't this car now.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: Brady, Bumman, Chrome, rookie PSA 10 over under 12 that.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_03]: Brady, higher, higher.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_03]: PSA 10, yes.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_03]: I would say that it is higher next.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: Griffey, upper deck PSA 10 over under 45 year.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_03]: What's the current price?
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: 45.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: It is a higher or lower higher.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_03]: I would say, Griffey, upper deck PSA 10 would be up next year.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right, a different one.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: Drake may rookie kaboom PSA 10, 4,000.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think the kid is, I think that if you look at, I mean, I'm, and that's only a bank on his talent and what he's showing that he is, if you become a top five NFL quarterback, your kaboom prices are going to stay up.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's only banking on him continuing to play well, like you had and almost kind of taking that Joe Barrow spot of a couple of years ago.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to say higher for only that reason.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say down, but slightly because because here's why, here's why, because Drake may as had a incredible season.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_03]: He very well may win MVP.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_03]: The question is, is can they win in the playoffs?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: And then can he back that up next season with another strong performance?
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: If he does, then Gary, in Matthew, I think you guys are on, but I see some potential stagnation there.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: So that's just my two cents.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: 1886, Flair Jordan.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say Jordan's down.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's road to high.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying Jordan's going down.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying he's going down.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Jordan train's going down next year.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_03]: The thing about the Flair Jordan is the population so high in because it's so high.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_03]: But at same time, man, when guys might age getting to the hobby, what they want to buy is Jordan.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_03]: I would actually make a guess that that's going to be flat.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_03]: Gabriel Gonzalez
- 42:57[SPEAKER_03]: He's messing with you.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_03]: But do you think Gabriel Gonzalez sees a resurgence this year?
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think Gabriel Gonzalez cards are too cheap.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think Gabriel Gonzalez is continued to hit.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Gabriel Gonzalez is one of those guys that honestly probably people should be buying.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's gonna get the call.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: He's at the age of youth call.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's hit every area he's at.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I would, you wanna bank on Gabriel Gabriel Gonzalez is up one year from now.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: 90 and at night, and I'm saying 99% off.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: We'll on that on that answer.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: All right, the show had based on it.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about 60 grand up or down.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: Not that I agree with it, but he just doesn't go down.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he just doesn't.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I would, I would have to agree, man.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_03]: Like, he's starting to do commercials now.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're starting to understand how to exploit his superstar to him.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think you just see more and more people coming into that game.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think in 10 years, it's significantly down.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: Significantly.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Don't don't forget that WBC is in March from Repetua, whatever it is, but that always helps show a market out a little bit because he's the best player in the world.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: All right, next one, this is what Jeff's told, and I want to get you all opinion on it because the show I have this card is like probably 300,000, 300,000, 300,000, 300,000, but an
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: I remember I was buying those for 15,000 at one point.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that's a strong sell for that card.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I do at 35,000.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think that honestly could be shield at that price because there's been no other golds around that a long time.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to say down, even though I think long-term on the flip side of shoveye, I think the judge gold in 10 years is up.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a, there's a news flash for you.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think your judge in the one year would be down from that 35, because I think that's a fake sale.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think in 10 years, I'd be buying air in judge right now.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: His current price is the shoveye.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's my, that's my.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, actually, I really like that take, I really like that take gear.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you know, I think about Aaron Judge, judge is when it started in the P, it started in the P. I mean, you're in rare territory when you win your third in the P, let's be honest, right, rare territory.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_03]: But like you look at a guy like Puhol's or Mickey Cabrera, right, like, you know, both ridiculously solid, you know, Hall of Famer locks, you know, guys like that.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_03]: You look at a Gallagheron judge, you know, do you put judge in the same class with McGee and Puhals, you know, or do you say that he has another MVP season and he kind of goes into a different stratosphere and you start putting him in the class with guys like, you know, mantle and bonds and roof, you know, when it comes to, you know, greatest, you know, baseball players argue at the time.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: If he wins, I must say if and win, I think he will.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: If and when he wins a world series, and he has another MVP behind that, I think his prices will double or triple out about it.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_02]: I really do.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think it to me, but I don't own a lot of him and I've sold almost all of it.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_02]: He has a guy that long-term I will dip my toe into that market again.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_02]: Because again, show hey, is showing us where that market can go, get show hey's international, and he's the pitcher in this or that.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: But when you look,
- 46:09[SPEAKER_02]: 30, 40, 50 years from now on this generation of kids, and then next people that will be buying cards a long time from now on they're telling their kids Aaron judge is gonna be mentioned right there along show hey If not maybe potentially when you look at the career numbers one day, I love him as a powerheader for sure So I'm gonna put I am 100% Bullish on his long-term market and I really I think to your I think to your point that judge does need one more thing And he's a little bit
- 46:37[SPEAKER_03]: He needs a world series.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: He needs a fourth MVP.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_03]: He needs one more thing to kind of take him into that stratosphere.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, if trout, imagine what would happen to trout's market with a world series or another MVP, or he has another couple banter years of trout pops off.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm going to tell you right now, I wouldn't bet against trout.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: Now he had last year to be, you know, last year to have a full season pretty much and get his feedback on him.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: We heard him talking about, you know, where he was in the game.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I was another guy right now.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: If I was just betting on somebody, I bet on my trout next year.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: I really would.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm betting on a big year for my trout.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: So our buddy Mike Trout, friend of the show, Mike, appreciate you coming on.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_03]: We'd love to have you back on, but I found this the other day.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna read this.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: This is to Mike himself, if he is gonna watch this show, it is actually the stat head comparison, okay?
- 47:28[SPEAKER_03]: Of Trout to Griffey at this point in time in his career, okay?
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: You got a direct lateral comparison of Trout to Griffey through age 32 or whatever it is, right?
- 47:43[SPEAKER_03]: Griffey's 78.7.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_03]: Griffey's played more games had more played appearances, had more hits, and had more RBI's, but it's because I think he's, I mean, played more games because of the health issue.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_03]: How many more games does he play?
- 47:57[SPEAKER_03]: About 300 a while.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_03]: Just two, two seasons.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, basically season and a half pretty much.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: So you've got, you've got Griffey with more games
- 48:10[SPEAKER_03]: Griffith 481, Trout 404.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_03]: So 300 home runs, excuse me, 300 games, and there's only an 80 home run difference.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yena, I mean, that's pretty much on pace.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: You look at stolen bases, trout's gotting.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_03]: You look at batting average, dead equal to 94.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: You look at on-base percentage, trout has the advantage.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_03]: You look at slugging, OPS, OPS plus trout has the advantage.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_03]: You look at all stars, both have 11.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_03]: You look at MVP, trout has three to Griffith's one.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_03]: Griffith has the gold glove advantage, and then trout has the silver slugger advantage.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_03]: So if you look at the stock,
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know, stat head might trow up through this agent his career is pacing khringrophy junior with less games to my point just a second ago, I'm going to say I'm not going to say if when our boy trout has a big year next year and the next year.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you his market is going to explode because it's either's been up to man there, you know, I mean, there's pin up the man that people want him.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: They, they, I mean, he is going to be, I mean, when he clips his 500, I mean,
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: his markets his mark is he it reminds me of who holds all over again with his market is what it reminds me of it because you remember who holds his market kind of went out of favor there at the end of his career.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean instantly the day his career was over as like his prices just were on a skyrocket.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: that people wanted Puhles and and trout's going to be a remembered about Puhles.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: Another thing that I think trout and grippy had in common, I think we're solved to someone and that said, oh, I don't like Mike trout is a player.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like everyone likes Mike.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like Mike trout is like, it's, you know, like not everyone likes show a, not everyone like Soda.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so does a trader, but all that stuff.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: But Mike trout, like,
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: the kid, but everyone thinks, oh, my child, I'm not going to play it.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that helped us market too.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's very likable.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Matthew, keep going.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking about this earlier on the show, but y'all think a gaudy-ruth batting PSA-3 over under 20,000.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_03]: 1.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_03]: Is that what they're doing now?
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, higher, higher forever, higher forever.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, higher forever.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I, I, I, I, at Bay Brews, look at any list out there, talk to him almost anybody.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: He's the number one all-time iconic player of all-time and baseball.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it ever gets surpassed.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_02]: Bay Brews best investment in baseball long-term in my opinion.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think the other thing about a Babe Ruth, too, is you just look at the scarcity of his cards.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Manel has cards from 51 through 68 or 69.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Ruth has literally just a handful of cards.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_03]: And so when you look at the availability of the population of Babe Ruth cards, and you want to own that asset, I mean, there you go.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: Ask a kid, ask a kid, and this is your task.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: Go ask a kid that's eight years old.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: And say, do you know who Babe Ruth is?
- 50:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, I know, baby.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, do you know what Mickey Mantlers, they're all going to say no, most of them.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_03]: That's, that's a fact, we should, we should do that, Matthew.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: We should have like a live field reporter at the mall.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but nothing like, I feel like it's a kind of thing like space.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_01]: Jan and Jordan, like they brief us.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: Stand lot, the whole movie is about a kid with favorite autographed baseball.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that has a, as a thing to it.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_01]: But another thing that me and dad look at a lot,
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: The 53-toffs manual is an iconic card.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: There are 9,000 of them.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: But there are less.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a thousand each of the gaudy roots.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: which is that they're very low-pop compared to other other vintage cars.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're all explaining to me why, and this is probably not going to be a popular popular opinion, but don't really don't care.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think that Manel got his market driven by the flipers early on for some reason.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_02]: His car got the iconic attention, but when you look at him compared to his market, compared to a Jackie.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: or a Ted Williams, or any of these other guys right there in that same category, there's no way in my mind that Manel should be that iconic compared to those people, that much more that is.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's a heck of a player.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: But when you look at any any all-time list, Mickey Manel is never number one on any of those lists, iconically.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: Never.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's always Babe Ruth.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_02]: There's always a top of those iconic lists.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's never Mickey Manel.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: Mickey Manels usually not even a top five.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_02]: I would think and this is not a popular opinion, but I would say this Mickey Manels.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a lot of room for Mickey Manels market to fall when this next wave of people that are older pass away.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_02]: 20 or 30 years.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: I actually think his market has a a lot of room to fall.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: That's actually a really good take and the reason why my dad that we're talking about this because my dad was born in 55, you know, right in the heartbeat, you grew up watching Mickey Mannell, Mickey Mannell rose to start him when the television first kind of went into every house.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 52:56[SPEAKER_03]: And because of that and because of the Yankees success during that season, they were in out of the 19 years or whatever 17 years he played.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think they played in 14 or 15 World series.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_03]: So if any game is broadcasted to World Series in these new televisions that are in these households, so every kid from that 50, 60s era, Mickey Manel was the name, right?
- 53:19[SPEAKER_03]: That was on the
- 53:25[SPEAKER_03]: The guy got injured earlier in his career, which affected the legacy of people going, oh my god, best athlete you ever saw.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_03]: Because Mickey Manel still holds one of the fastest left-handed batters to first base of all time, the fact that he hit with the power he hit.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of like a bow Jackson effect.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: So I think those two things have kept Manel high, but I agree with you.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_03]: I have a 48 least Ted Williams on my shelf right now.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_03]: Like this is the grand theft auto.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_03]: All right, boys.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Matthew, thank you for the rapid fires.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_03]: And Bob, thanks for jumping on, brother.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_03]: Appreciate you guys for everybody listening the day.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_03]: Hope you enjoy the episode.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_03]: This was just like, these are the phone conversations we have.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: This is, this is an insight into our world.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_03]: Just talk in, awfully hip, about things that matter to us and things we love.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully you've benefited from it.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think you got a lot of valuable information today.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_03]: So before this airs boy, we better go saddle up and go buy some things.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, man.
