- 0:03Speaker 1: Well, we've got a vegan activist who's been arrested yesterday.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I've been catching up on in those songs, on the
- 0:10Speaker 2: things that Tash Peterson's done.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Activist. Yeah, you've probably.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Seen her on news dot com or like on your
- 0:18Speaker 2: social media right. And a few months ago there was
- 0:21Speaker 2: a video where she was stealing fishing rods out of
- 0:25Speaker 2: the beach because fish have feelings and feel pain in
- 0:29Speaker 2: her mind, and so there were kids on the beach
- 0:32Speaker 2: who were fishing and they got upset and there was
- 0:34Speaker 2: a video of that. And then the latest is this
- 0:36Speaker 2: one from Surfers Paradise over the weekend where she was
- 0:40Speaker 2: went up to a reptile store and there were kids
- 0:43Speaker 2: there and they were well at a display I guess,
- 0:46Speaker 2: some reptile display and that it was not right, like
- 0:50Speaker 2: animals shouldn't be used for human entertainment. But it's very
- 0:55Speaker 2: upsetting to the people who are around at the time,
- 0:58Speaker 2: including kids.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yes, it would be really quite upsetting for the kids
- 1:01Speaker 3: and probably a little bit like scary.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Well, we've got the moment you can hear. So there
- 1:07Speaker 1: are children and they're at the reptile stand and up
- 1:10Speaker 1: comes touch have a listen.
- 1:11Speaker 4: These animals deserves me in the wild, not here for
- 1:14Speaker 4: children's entertainment.
- 1:15Speaker 5: This is disgusting the animals.
- 1:20Speaker 1: To film this young girl.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Where's her parents and where's that? The animal does not
- 1:25Speaker 4: want to be here posing for an.
- 1:27Speaker 1: We cannot is an animal child? This actual god?
- 1:31Speaker 5: Somebody am.
- 1:37Speaker 3: An animal child? Does she know their reptiles age?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Good point, Well, you can ask to yourself because we
- 1:44Speaker 1: have on air.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Hello, Hello, thanks for having me on.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, okay, Tash, can you just help me understand, like,
- 1:54Speaker 3: was there a reason you targeted this reptile stand I.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Stand up for all victim of animal exploitation and abuse.
- 2:02Speaker 4: And I just happened to be out on a walk
- 2:04Speaker 4: when I noticed the reptile stall being set up, and
- 2:07Speaker 4: I went back when they were fully set up. I
- 2:09Speaker 4: wanted to film the victims and speak up for them.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And the victims are the reptiles.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, non human animals who are subjected to exploitation,
- 2:19Speaker 4: whether that be for entertainment, clothing, food testing, breeding, and
- 2:23Speaker 4: so on.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Okay, thirteen one oh sixty five. By the way, if
- 2:25Speaker 1: you want to have a chat to Tush and ask
- 2:27Speaker 1: her a question or give your opinion, feel free to
- 2:30Speaker 1: do so.
- 2:30Speaker 5: I get I think I guess my question.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Obviously you're a vegan because of these animals, and you
- 2:36Speaker 3: don't eat animals any animal product.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Is that right?
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't use animals in any form, So I
- 2:42Speaker 4: don't eat their flesh, their milk, their eggs, their honey
- 2:45Speaker 4: where their skin will use them for entertainment, go to zoos.
- 2:48Speaker 4: I don't support any any form of animal use.
- 2:51Speaker 3: So, and this might be a silly question, but like,
- 2:53Speaker 3: what what do you eat like, because I know, like
- 2:57Speaker 3: I love animals as well.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Yeah, but I like I also enjoy a steak, right.
- 3:02Speaker 4: So I can get a vegan steak.
- 3:05Speaker 5: What is that like a vegan steak?
- 3:08Speaker 4: Well, everything you eat now there's a plant based version.
- 3:12Speaker 4: So there's the plant based meat. So they can be
- 3:14Speaker 4: made from soy or peat protein with the same taste
- 3:18Speaker 4: and texture. So everything you enjoy now you can get
- 3:20Speaker 4: a vegan version. I still eat pizzas, burritos, vegan cheese,
- 3:23Speaker 4: vegan ice cream and so on.
- 3:25Speaker 3: It's probably three times the price as well, anything organic
- 3:29Speaker 3: or vegan is or they're not encouraging you to eat that.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Lay I look good on you. I'm the personal thing.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I think what a lot of people get upset about
- 3:37Speaker 1: tash is you, you know, going up to Bondai Beach
- 3:40Speaker 1: where people are fishing or the market and there are
- 3:43Speaker 1: children involved. Do you ever feel bad some people think
- 3:48Speaker 1: you're an attention seeker.
- 3:51Speaker 4: No, I don't feel bad for standing up against animal victims.
- 3:55Speaker 4: They're as innocent as human children. They deserve respect and
- 3:59Speaker 4: the right to not be exploited as well. In fact,
- 4:02Speaker 4: human children never seem to actually be scared by my
- 4:05Speaker 4: activism At the reptile stall, all the children were just
- 4:08Speaker 4: standing there staring at me. They were curious. The only
- 4:12Speaker 4: time they became upset was when the mothers became aggressive
- 4:16Speaker 4: and upset and even physical with me.
- 4:18Speaker 2: But none of that would be happening if you weren't
- 4:21Speaker 2: there doing this in front of the kids.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but I need to stand up for their animal
- 4:26Speaker 4: children too.
- 4:27Speaker 2: There are always you can Docile was.
- 4:29Speaker 4: A baby crocodile with his or her mouth taped so
- 4:32Speaker 4: children could hold them for entertainment, and a photoprop I'm discusting.
- 4:37Speaker 4: It is animal abuse.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I'm like on the fence with veganism, Like I get
- 4:40Speaker 2: what you just said Amy before about you know, I
- 4:42Speaker 2: love animals, but our lead at steak like that doesn't
- 4:45Speaker 2: make sense to me. So I get veganism, and I'm like, yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 2: I'm off for okay, people being vegan, but I still
- 4:52Speaker 2: eat meat like so you know, I get it. But Tash,
- 4:56Speaker 2: when I see when I think about, oh, maybe I
- 4:58Speaker 2: will go vegan, when I see people like you being
- 5:01Speaker 2: so extreme and upsetting children, it actually puts me off
- 5:05Speaker 2: because I don't because being a vegan is now seen
- 5:08Speaker 2: as such an extreme thing.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Do you have to do it this way?
- 5:12Speaker 4: Well, don't use me as a reason to continue exploiting
- 5:15Speaker 4: and abusing animals. I don't think that's a good enough reason.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I'm just trying to stop animal abuse. If I were
- 5:21Speaker 4: speaking up for human victims of slavery and abuse, I
- 5:24Speaker 4: don't think people would be calling my actions extreme. In fact,
- 5:28Speaker 4: they'd probably be begging me to do more.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Okay, so you compare kind of animals to like if
- 5:33Speaker 1: it was human suffering things, human beings. Yeah, how do you?
- 5:37Speaker 4: We're authentient, we all feel pain, we all value our lives.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Sure thirteen to one oh sixty five. Couple of people
- 5:42Speaker 1: want to have a chat to you. How do you
- 5:44Speaker 1: feel about like my cat for example? Because I do
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm a big animal lover. I reckon if I'd been
- 5:49Speaker 1: in an abatoir, I'd be off meat. I get it
- 5:51Speaker 1: right out of side, out of mind for me. But
- 5:53Speaker 1: what about my cat who loves to eat meat? Animals
- 5:57Speaker 1: like eating meats?
- 5:58Speaker 3: Yeah, well animals eat yeah. Wild animals eat other wild animals.
- 6:02Speaker 3: It's like the whole hierarchy chain.
- 6:04Speaker 5: That's how they survive.
- 6:05Speaker 4: We shouldn't mimic their behavior. Wild animals do many terrible
- 6:09Speaker 4: things out in the wild, including eating their own babies
- 6:12Speaker 4: and doing terrible things towards one another.
- 6:15Speaker 2: The way, what do you think Tash about just having
- 6:17Speaker 2: a pit having a cat or dog?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Is that bad?
- 6:20Speaker 4: I don't support the breeding industry. I don't think we
- 6:23Speaker 4: should be purchasing animals and breeding them into existence to
- 6:26Speaker 4: be pets. But I completely support adopting animals who need
- 6:29Speaker 4: a home.
- 6:29Speaker 2: But what's the difference the display then, of having a
- 6:33Speaker 2: dog at home.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Well, these reptiles are bred into captivity for the pure
- 6:39Speaker 4: purpose to be used as human entertainment, and I think
- 6:42Speaker 4: that's unethical. And it's the same as breeding dogs and
- 6:44Speaker 4: cats into existence to be used as pets. It's all unethical.
- 6:48Speaker 4: But I agree with adopting or rescuing those animals who
- 6:52Speaker 4: already exist and giving them a home where their best
- 6:55Speaker 4: interests comes first. These animals to be used as a
- 6:58Speaker 4: prop is not putting their best interests her all.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Right, Well, lots of people calling into kiss right now,
- 7:03Speaker 1: so we'll get a few on air with you, Jackie,
- 7:05Speaker 1: go for it. You're on with Tash.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Hey, Tash, how are you okay?
- 7:10Speaker 1: I've got it. Good, good.
- 7:12Speaker 6: I've got a friend that is actually a snake catcher
- 7:16Speaker 6: and actually does a reptiles shows. Now, he takes such
- 7:21Speaker 6: good care of those reptiles, probably looks faster and better
- 7:24Speaker 6: than his wife. They've got the best tone. Yeah, and
- 7:29Speaker 6: he makes it and that is his job.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Right so yeah, yeah, yeah, Well how do you feel
- 7:35Speaker 1: about that, Tash. He's taken good care of the animals.
- 7:38Speaker 4: So the issue is not about how well they're cared for,
- 7:41Speaker 4: the issues that they're exploited in the first place. I'm
- 7:44Speaker 4: not saying that the animals aren't we well cared for,
- 7:47Speaker 4: but the fact that they are breading to captivity to
- 7:49Speaker 4: be exploited for entertainment or any other human purpose I
- 7:53Speaker 4: believe is unethical.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Okay, thirteen one oh six five. We've got Blake, you're on, Witash.
- 7:59Speaker 1: What do you want to say, mate?
- 8:01Speaker 7: Yeah, Josh, I just think you're fighting fire with fire.
- 8:04Speaker 6: I look at like how.
- 8:07Speaker 7: Australia embraced homosexuality. For example, we had a street party,
- 8:10Speaker 7: we had a party that was a protest and filled
- 8:13Speaker 7: with so much joy, and now homosexuality is widely accepted
- 8:18Speaker 7: here in Australia. I look at what you're doing with
- 8:21Speaker 7: your vegan protest and I think it actually creates more
- 8:24Speaker 7: aggression and fear with what you're doing. I think that
- 8:28Speaker 7: is there a more positive way that you could actually
- 8:30Speaker 7: be going out for the community in educating as opposed
- 8:34Speaker 7: to being confrontation.
- 8:36Speaker 5: It's kind of like what you said, Brooklyn, Yeah, what
- 8:38Speaker 5: do you reckon?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Tash?
- 8:39Speaker 4: I think all forms of activism have their place. And
- 8:43Speaker 4: it's interesting that you bring up homosexuality because in previous
- 8:47Speaker 4: social justice movements, including gay rights, it wasn't just all
- 8:51Speaker 4: happy and positive fighting for their rights. There was a
- 8:54Speaker 4: lot of extreme disruptive activism in order for gay people, women,
- 8:59Speaker 4: black people, someone to get their rights. They were arrested, jailed,
- 9:03Speaker 4: beaten because they were disrupting and standing up for their right.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Do you get tash on your comments for videos like
- 9:10Speaker 2: this one at the Reptile Store, do you get people
- 9:11Speaker 2: commenting saying you made a great point. I'm going to
- 9:14Speaker 2: be vegan now.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Absolutely. I've been an animal rights activist for eight years now,
- 9:20Speaker 4: and I have NonStop throughout those eight years, received endless
- 9:24Speaker 4: messages online saying thank you, Tash. I've watched Dominion because
- 9:27Speaker 4: of you, and I'm now changing my life and I'm
- 9:30Speaker 4: living vegan because of your activism. People all around the world,
- 9:34Speaker 4: because of my disruptive activism, have become vegan and animal
- 9:38Speaker 4: rights activists.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I like a saint. Okay, here, Scott, go
- 9:41Speaker 1: for it, man, What do you want to say? I
- 9:44Speaker 1: want to ask, if you're not an exploitation at all
- 9:47Speaker 1: ones only fans account, what is that then? What you know?
- 9:50Speaker 1: For me?
- 9:51Speaker 4: Beautiful toot, There's no exploitation happening on that account. I'm
- 9:55Speaker 4: doing whatever I want with my bodily autonomy while standing
- 9:58Speaker 4: up for those who have no body autonomy who are
- 10:01Speaker 4: actually subjected to exploitation and abuse.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Oh, if you've got only fans there, yeah I do. Okay,
- 10:08Speaker 1: all right, Scott, Scott reckons that's on par with meat.
- 10:13Speaker 4: God vegan meat vegan meat tastes better?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yeah, hang on, hang on now before we let you go.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I love that you're passionate about something, absolutely, and for
- 10:25Speaker 1: coming on. Yeah, I really appreciate you. You're a good sport.
- 10:28Speaker 1: But let's not lie now. Surely you miss some meat.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And are you actually saying vegan meat tastes better? Oh?
- 10:37Speaker 4: Absolutely, because there's no exploitation, abuse and murder involved. So yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 4: I enjoy vegan meat all the time.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Have you felt tried non vegan beat?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Tried the cheese? I think it's made out of nuts
- 10:49Speaker 1: or some stuffy.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Yeah, have you tried? Have you ever had a steak tash?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 10:54Speaker 4: I wasn't vegan for twenty three years of my life.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Oh okay, do you eat oysters?
- 11:00Speaker 4: No? I don't.
- 11:01Speaker 1: But they're not an animal or something?
- 11:03Speaker 4: Well, well, questionable about their sentience, but they I believe
- 11:08Speaker 4: they are considered animals. It's just not uncertain about their sentient.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Do trees feel pain?
- 11:16Speaker 4: No, plants are not sentient. They don't have a central
- 11:19Speaker 4: nervous system, so they don't.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Why are they leading them?
- 11:23Speaker 2: And now you're getting ridiculous lacky?
- 11:25Speaker 1: He God on, you keep it off or do whatever
- 11:28Speaker 1: you want. You know. It's it's it's good to see
- 11:30Speaker 1: someone to do something. It's all I can say.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Have a good day, see your tasks coming on.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Thirteen, oneh sixty five. Birthday, Wheel, Is it your birthdayting?
- 11:41Speaker 5: She spoke really well. Yeah, she makes me compelling argument.
- 11:44Speaker 5: But I love meat.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Should we bring out the meat? The meat, Let's
- 11:53Speaker 1: have some saloon. What would be the.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Let's get a keyesburger on the way home.
- 11:56Speaker 1: God, I just want to.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I'm happy with the oysters. They're not sentient.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Do it because sometimes.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Are some people think that they are alive.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Hughes, who is a vegan, tells me he eats oysters.
- 12:07Speaker 5: My thing is, I just want to.
- 12:08Speaker 3: She doesn't eat any she doesn't eat anything, like, she
- 12:11Speaker 3: doesn't even eat milk or drink milk or anything.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I want what does she eat?
- 12:17Speaker 1: It's vegetables. Yeah, there's lots. All right, let's do the
- 12:23Speaker 1: the birthday will If it's your birthday today and you're
- 12:25Speaker 1: a vegan, you have to be both.
- 12:27Speaker 3: No, you don't
