- 1:38Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:42Speaker 1: at Gillette Stadium, and it's the week after the bye,
- 1:45Speaker 1: so we had a chance to watch the NFL without
- 1:49Speaker 1: having to worry about the Patriots. So maybe today's a
- 1:52Speaker 1: good day to catch up on every excuse me, everything
- 1:55Speaker 1: else that's going on with the league, as well as
- 1:59Speaker 1: getting of course ready for the Giants. The big topic
- 2:02Speaker 1: there is who's going to be the quarterback? And the
- 2:04Speaker 1: answer is everybody's got to be read, everybody's got to
- 2:07Speaker 1: be ready, and and it's Tuesday, you know.
- 2:11Speaker 5: We'll see, Well it's kind it's actually Wednesday.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Well okay, but like the first practice for the upcoming
- 2:18Speaker 1: team is about to happen.
- 2:19Speaker 7: Also, I think, sure it's Tuesday, and you know there's
- 2:23Speaker 7: still time, but like I just want the same energy
- 2:26Speaker 7: as the Jets, like they literally made their quarterback change.
- 2:29Speaker 7: They announced it. It's wide and open, there's no confusion,
- 2:32Speaker 7: Like why not just let it be out there? Like
- 2:35Speaker 7: why play the guessing what.
- 2:36Speaker 3: The Giants can prepare for? What quarterbacks?
- 2:41Speaker 1: But what what if? What if honestly Bill hasn't made
- 2:43Speaker 1: a decision yet? What if he hasn't.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I don't think he has.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't either. I don't think he has made a decision.
- 2:50Speaker 1: You do, And what do you think it's going to be?
- 2:53Speaker 4: Oh? I don't know what it is. And I think
- 2:55Speaker 4: he knows. I think the team knows.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Well, see, maybe it's not as clear cut as the Jets.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think it's clear cut with the Jets.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Well, I think it's exactly the same for here.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's clear cut. And he just took
- 3:08Speaker 4: him out and with the game.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And I don't And I think he regrets that that decision.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I don't.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't either. I think it was the wrong decision.
- 3:15Speaker 1: The more I've thought about it, I think it was
- 3:17Speaker 1: the wrong decision.
- 3:18Speaker 8: Don't you just think they must really hate Bailey's happy?
- 3:21Speaker 8: Like that's like I like, it just seems like Mac
- 3:23Speaker 8: is like Jason Vorhees he just keeps coming back right now,
- 3:26Speaker 8: no matter what he kind of does. Like I just
- 3:28Speaker 8: I thought that that interception. I mean, you're probably right,
- 3:31Speaker 8: like maybe just let him finish it out one series,
- 3:33Speaker 8: But like, what's how can you how can you go
- 3:37Speaker 8: back to him now? Like, like how much do you
- 3:39Speaker 8: hate Bailey's happy?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Like I said last week, you look at him after
- 3:43Speaker 1: that interception, you say, hey, chin up, look at me.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You're gonna get the ball back. We're gonna have a
- 3:47Speaker 1: chance to win this game. Let's talk about how you're
- 3:49Speaker 1: gonna do it, and and see his response. Give him
- 3:52Speaker 1: that last chance.
- 3:53Speaker 7: They haven't given any type.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Of and then if he does it again, now it's
- 3:56Speaker 1: a clear thing.
- 3:57Speaker 4: But what if he said that to him after he
- 3:59Speaker 4: through the the should have been interception to Hunter Henry, Yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 4: chin up, we'll get him on the next one. You know,
- 4:07Speaker 4: if he had already said that.
- 4:08Speaker 1: To him, he might have I don't know, may and
- 4:09Speaker 1: maybe that's why they pulled him. But from what I know,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I don't I think it was the wrong decision.
- 4:16Speaker 8: Yeah, I just don't think it has anything to do
- 4:17Speaker 8: with Mac really. It's like it's just like Zappy had
- 4:19Speaker 8: any kind of competence they probably would have already given him.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think, I think, I think it's they know it's
- 4:25Speaker 1: not gonna be any better. Let's stick it. Let's ride
- 4:28Speaker 1: it out with this kid, you know.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And then that's why a lot of people out there
- 4:32Speaker 3: are doing the let's put Will gear in. We don't
- 4:34Speaker 3: know what he's like.
- 4:34Speaker 8: He hasn't spurned us yet, he hasn't gone out there
- 4:37Speaker 8: and been booed by us yet. Let's give him a
- 4:39Speaker 8: chance to be booed, you know, like what what what
- 4:41Speaker 8: really does anyone know about Will Greer or Maally Cunningham
- 4:43Speaker 8: for that matter.
- 4:44Speaker 4: So I don't know.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I'm getting worried it's gonna be max.
- 4:46Speaker 7: Still, I don't knock that idea of seeing Will Greer
- 4:49Speaker 7: because I mean, honestly, when I heard Tommy DeVito was
- 4:51Speaker 7: going in, I'm like, oh, that's gonna be a nightmare.
- 4:53Speaker 7: Like their third string who you have no intention of
- 4:55Speaker 7: playing and comes out and wins last week. I'm not
- 4:58Speaker 7: saying he's gonna do it again this Sunday.
- 4:59Speaker 5: But like it it took six turnover the commanders.
- 5:05Speaker 8: Yeah, no, I mean, and and like I mean to
- 5:07Speaker 8: your point though tomorrow too, It's like well, Gar, he's
- 5:09Speaker 8: he has been here very long, but he's been in
- 5:11Speaker 8: the league. I mean, at least, you know, Tommy DeVito
- 5:13Speaker 8: is a rookie, he's had no experience prior to that.
- 5:15Speaker 8: So I would at least hope even Will Greer coming
- 5:17Speaker 8: into this situation later would have a little bit more
- 5:20Speaker 8: positive possibility then I think the rookie.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think the correlation there between the Patriots and Giants
- 5:27Speaker 1: is more apt than the Jets. In the paper, the Giants,
- 5:32Speaker 1: the Jets conceivably could still back their way into the playoffs,
- 5:35Speaker 1: like they're still trying to get like what can we
- 5:38Speaker 1: do to scratch out these wins? It doesn't matter with
- 5:41Speaker 1: the Patriots of the Giants, Well, do.
- 5:42Speaker 8: You feel like they just did it too late though?
- 5:44Speaker 8: I mean, it doesn't seem like you've really learned anything.
- 5:46Speaker 8: Zach Wilson happened in three so maybe maybe yeah, you know, yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It's tough, tough to manage, tough to figure out anyway.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's it's tomorrow, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Matt,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and the booth will be here for two hours talking Patriots.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I five pasts five hundred is the ace ticket. Outline
- 6:02Speaker 1: web radio at Patriots dot Com is the email address. Yes,
- 6:06Speaker 1: So there's a lot of quarterback strife going on in
- 6:10Speaker 1: the league, lots of teams having issues at that position.
- 6:13Speaker 8: Yeah, there's not a lot of great, great play, a
- 6:15Speaker 8: lot of backups getting chances and too many injuries, a.
- 6:18Speaker 7: Lot of injuries at B and Watson being out for
- 6:21Speaker 7: the years wild.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah it stinks. Yeah, you know Watson, well with Burrow,
- 6:27Speaker 1: it shouldn't happened to a worst team. Yeah, I feel
- 6:30Speaker 1: for him because I like Burrow. He's being wasted on
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Bengals, but I'm happy that it happened to the
- 6:35Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bengal.
- 6:35Speaker 8: How quick can they tank and get him like another
- 6:38Speaker 8: top ten weapon? Like that's what you know, what's going
- 6:40Speaker 8: to happen.
- 6:42Speaker 5: They're just not going to resign to Higgins and then
- 6:43Speaker 5: just draft Marvin.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Harrison just like clockwork.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I I do think that some of you know,
- 6:51Speaker 5: Tom Brady went on with Steven a and was talking
- 6:54Speaker 5: about the quality of playing how terrible it is. I
- 6:56Speaker 5: don't know, it's a little bit of like old man
- 6:58Speaker 5: getting off my lawn and it's like the quarterback play
- 7:02Speaker 5: now is definitely more volatile than it's been in recent years.
- 7:06Speaker 4: There's more great plays and then.
- 7:07Speaker 5: There's more turnovers, and that's that's a fact. But some
- 7:11Speaker 5: of the plays individually that guys are making at the
- 7:14Speaker 5: quarterback position is are absurd throws that guys were not
- 7:18Speaker 5: making twenty years ago.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Well, on your show, Paul, they had a little discussion
- 7:21Speaker 1: about this yesterday about you know, why isn't the quarterback
- 7:27Speaker 1: play in the NFL better? You know, and you know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: the argument was, well, in college, you know, they look
- 7:34Speaker 1: better because they're playing you know, I don't know, because
- 7:37Speaker 1: you know, they're playing against lesser quality people, the gate,
- 7:40Speaker 1: the speed of the game is less and and all that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And felt was like, well, no, I mean there's plenty
- 7:45Speaker 1: of great players that come out of college and all
- 7:47Speaker 1: the other positions. We're able to fill all those positions.
- 7:50Speaker 1: But Tony then made the point, well, there's only one
- 7:52Speaker 1: quarterback really per team, and per you know that's in
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, so it's a little bit different to compare
- 7:59Speaker 1: you know, cornerbacks to quarterback because there's more cornerbacks you know,
- 8:04Speaker 1: to choose from every year. But you know, it's I'm
- 8:09Speaker 1: not sure the problem is.
- 8:11Speaker 4: I don't think it's as deep I mean, I know,
- 8:13Speaker 4: statistically there's been a drop off. I do think this
- 8:16Speaker 4: has been a little bit of a resurgence defensively around
- 8:19Speaker 4: the league. I think there are a handful of teams
- 8:21Speaker 4: that have good to you know, really good records that
- 8:26Speaker 4: are led by a dominant defense, Cleveland sort of being
- 8:30Speaker 4: at the top of that list. But I think it's
- 8:33Speaker 4: overblown a little bit with the downs. I agree with
- 8:37Speaker 4: the way Evan just said, like, I think there's more
- 8:40Speaker 4: young quarterbacks coming into the league playing at a reasonably
- 8:44Speaker 4: high level than we've seen in the past. It takes time.
- 8:48Speaker 4: These guys can't get I think that's number one is
- 8:52Speaker 4: not a hard position. But you take a top ten
- 8:55Speaker 4: quarterback and that guy plays almost always from day one. Now, yep,
- 9:00Speaker 4: I didn't always used to be the case.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It's because of the contrast.
- 9:03Speaker 4: So so those guys, those guys come in and they
- 9:06Speaker 4: need to learn a little bit and they play like
- 9:09Speaker 4: I think CJ. Stroud has been really good, but he's
- 9:13Speaker 4: gonna make mistakes. He's he's a young quarterback who threw
- 9:16Speaker 4: three picks the other day, Like it's gonna happen. You know,
- 9:19Speaker 4: Bryce Young, I don't think Bryce Young is a stiff.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I know that's the consensus because I mean, after all,
- 9:24Speaker 4: he's played ten games, so you might as well close
- 9:26Speaker 4: the book on him, right, Ben Vollen, You know, just
- 9:30Speaker 4: like I just don't understand why you people wouldn't look
- 9:34Speaker 4: at that and say, yeah, you know, Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, CJ.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Stroud and then go back, you know to you know,
- 9:41Speaker 4: the Mac class with Trevor Lawrence and Justin Field. Yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 4: there's young quarterbacks playing a lot of snaps right away.
- 9:49Speaker 4: It's not gonna look as good as Aaron Rodgers, Tom
- 9:52Speaker 4: Brady and Peyton Manning.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Right, it's just not what there's this rush now to
- 9:55Speaker 1: see before that you have to make that decision for
- 9:58Speaker 1: the fifth year and all that, like we need to know,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and so they feel like they can't waste any time
- 10:03Speaker 1: him sitting on the bench at season or two. But
- 10:06Speaker 1: Bill Walsh wrote the book back then saying every quarterback
- 10:10Speaker 1: should be given two years just to watch.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Not gonna happen anymore.
- 10:15Speaker 1: You can't do that anymore.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Not a big part of it.
- 10:17Speaker 8: But I do think it's probably when you hear about
- 10:19Speaker 8: these stats about numbers being down. I mean, I think
- 10:21Speaker 8: Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers both effectively being out of the.
- 10:23Speaker 3: League this year.
- 10:24Speaker 8: I think that that has some impact. Those are two
- 10:26Speaker 8: you know, and back quarterbacks that this year they're out
- 10:30Speaker 8: of the mix. They're not contributing to those stats anymore.
- 10:32Speaker 3: So, a lot of factors.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and then put into the you know, sorry to
- 10:36Speaker 4: cut you off, but real quick, I think you're up
- 10:39Speaker 4: to seven starting quarterbacks that are currently out for the
- 10:43Speaker 4: year or out for big chunks. I believe that's almost
- 10:46Speaker 4: a third. You know, that's a lot of quarterbacks. That's
- 10:49Speaker 4: a lot of guys. You know, to Mike's point, if
- 10:53Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers were playing every game, we wouldn't be looking
- 10:55Speaker 4: at the Jets being so miserable, right, Yeah, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 4: with Zach Wilson they would have. That would be another
- 11:02Speaker 4: really good team playing really good offense. You know, I
- 11:05Speaker 4: just but that game. I just think it's overblown.
- 11:07Speaker 1: That game last night, twenty one to seventeen. You know,
- 11:11Speaker 1: why why is Kansas City having trouble? Because you look at.
- 11:14Speaker 4: The Homes, right, because they have twenty six drop he's.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Playing well, I'm sorry, but you look at Mahomes and
- 11:22Speaker 1: like he's still Patrick Mahomes and.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Even Mahomes like you turn it over twice in the
- 11:26Speaker 4: red zone, you drop another touchdown in the red zone.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Even if you're Mahomes, you're only going to score seventeen
- 11:32Speaker 4: instead of thirty, you know.
- 11:33Speaker 1: So so then you look at the wide receiver position,
- 11:36Speaker 1: and you know, we talk about, well, they're not enough
- 11:38Speaker 1: good quarterbacks out there. Maybe you know there aren't enough
- 11:42Speaker 1: really good wide receivers out there, you know, like because
- 11:45Speaker 1: his his receivers and who was a Burrow had guys
- 11:50Speaker 1: dropping passes when before he got hurt, and who was
- 11:54Speaker 1: the other quarterback on Sunday that Herbert like got let
- 11:58Speaker 1: down by.
- 11:58Speaker 4: His receivers Keenan Allen of yeah, like that Quinton Johnson
- 12:03Speaker 4: dropped some potent game when he.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Touchdown, you know, And that's that's making his stats look bad.
- 12:08Speaker 1: But Herbert had a great game, you know.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Yeah, there's another one not according to Bowin, there's another
- 12:15Speaker 4: that justin Herbert is not good. Oh no, he got
- 12:17Speaker 4: the fourth and one pass knocked down. You didn't know
- 12:20Speaker 4: he's six or five. It's maddening, Like do you watch
- 12:24Speaker 4: the rest.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Of the game he made? How many balls? Is Tom
- 12:27Speaker 1: Brady had batted down like at least three a game
- 12:30Speaker 1: or you know, exaggerated, but at least you know, won
- 12:32Speaker 1: a game.
- 12:33Speaker 5: The throw that Justin Herbert made a Quentin Johnson that
- 12:35Speaker 5: Quin Johnson dropped was ridiculous, like moving to his left,
- 12:40Speaker 5: gets off platform, sees it backside and rips.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Like five year with Justin Herbert, that I could listen
- 12:46Speaker 4: to because you know, you start, you're going three years now.
- 12:49Speaker 4: He might just have one of those things where bad
- 12:52Speaker 4: things seemed to happening like that had nothing to.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Do with him.
- 12:55Speaker 4: I mean, that doesn't know how to win. A lot
- 12:57Speaker 4: of it was was Brady Manning. I used to Fred
- 13:00Speaker 4: and I used to talk about this all the time,
- 13:01Speaker 4: Like you know, Peyton Manning would go out in a
- 13:04Speaker 4: playoff game and throw for four hundred and thirty yards
- 13:06Speaker 4: and his idiot kicker would poke one into the bleachers liquor,
- 13:10Speaker 4: Like that's not his fault, but sometimes that just happens.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Whereas Brady would just go out there and you know
- 13:16Speaker 4: he would he would just go boom, boom boom and
- 13:18Speaker 4: make the play when he had to, maybe not be
- 13:20Speaker 4: great the whole game, but when he had to be,
- 13:23Speaker 4: it worked, and he was as clutch as anybody who's
- 13:26Speaker 4: ever played and he'd win, Brady always won, and Manning
- 13:29Speaker 4: always seemed to lose.
- 13:30Speaker 7: To see see justin Herbert with the competent coaching stuff.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Well, they're coached well on offense, but they like in
- 13:37Speaker 5: terms of like learning how to win late in games
- 13:39Speaker 5: that that whole DNA is just they don't have it.
- 13:42Speaker 4: The Chargers just don't have it.
- 13:43Speaker 8: Plus, it still feels like the Chargers DNA of can't
- 13:45Speaker 8: win in cold places a little bit too.
- 13:47Speaker 5: Like I'm just curious a couple of weeks here, like
- 13:48Speaker 5: they're just one of those teams that finds the way
- 13:51Speaker 5: to they have all the time.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Here, No do they have like a I don't know,
- 13:54Speaker 3: that's well, that was what I was thinking about when
- 13:57Speaker 3: Bay record. I don't know, Yeah, I didn't know that
- 14:00Speaker 3: they have to consult it. But it just feels like
- 14:02Speaker 3: that's the Chargers general.
- 14:04Speaker 4: I just think the Chargers find ways to lose, yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 4: one way or another.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Good matchup here.
- 14:08Speaker 5: For it's just the quarterback thing to me, Like I
- 14:11Speaker 5: think we're coming off an era with Brady and Manning
- 14:14Speaker 5: and Rogers and Rivers. It's the golden era of quarterbacks.
- 14:18Speaker 5: It's the best era of quarterbacks in the history of
- 14:20Speaker 5: the league. So obviously it's not going to be as
- 14:23Speaker 5: good when those guys start to retire. I mean even
- 14:26Speaker 5: when that was going on, like Ben Roethlisberger was in
- 14:29Speaker 5: that era too, you know, Philip.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Rivers was in that era.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Matt Ryan.
- 14:34Speaker 4: You know, these guys are just secondary guys that you
- 14:37Speaker 4: kind of think of, well they you know, they low
- 14:39Speaker 4: key stunk, right, so it's imperatively they were great.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but Paul kind of mentioned it. Our defense is
- 14:45Speaker 1: catching up a little.
- 14:46Speaker 5: I think that there's some things that defenses are doing
- 14:48Speaker 5: that are working more often than what it was before.
- 14:53Speaker 5: A lot of like the pressure schemes and stuff like
- 14:55Speaker 5: that that they're running. I know, you know, Spags, the
- 14:58Speaker 5: Kansas City defense coordinator, got a lot of kudos from
- 15:01Speaker 5: film Twitter last night for his game plan against Jalen Hurts.
- 15:05Speaker 5: So there are some things the leader of film Oh no, no, no, no,
- 15:10Speaker 5: I'm just simply I'm just simply a contributor.
- 15:15Speaker 4: And he's also a client. I'm just simply a member.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Not the.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Guys that like actually coach football. They're the leaders. So
- 15:26Speaker 4: I would say with the defense part of that, Freddie
- 15:28Speaker 4: and I think that ties into the inexperience at quarterback.
- 15:33Speaker 4: I think what teams have started to do, and this
- 15:36Speaker 4: started last year when the points were slightly down, you know,
- 15:40Speaker 4: a lot of the cover two, you know, keeping everything
- 15:43Speaker 4: in front, making teams go ten plays instead of the
- 15:46Speaker 4: big plays. And that makes it harder for a young
- 15:49Speaker 4: quarterback to avoid that mistake. He's not seen all of
- 15:52Speaker 4: those things all the time. It's easier to do the
- 15:55Speaker 4: dialed up pressure that Evan's talking about once. You only
- 15:58Speaker 4: have to do it once out of ten plays to
- 16:00Speaker 4: knock a team off script. A lot of got a
- 16:03Speaker 4: lot of creepers, Yeah, and that keeps the school down.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Pressure.
- 16:06Speaker 4: And I also think even when the offenses of having success,
- 16:11Speaker 4: when it's taken you eight minutes, nine minutes to score,
- 16:14Speaker 4: that keeps the score down too.
- 16:15Speaker 1: So we're saying that Bill was ahead of his time
- 16:17Speaker 1: with the bend, but don't break defense.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Bill was ahead of it, was set ahead of his
- 16:21Speaker 4: time with the one of the.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Pressure packages that teams are running now are a lot
- 16:25Speaker 5: of things that the Patriots have been doing for years,
- 16:27Speaker 5: and I'll give them that.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I mean, that's what makes the current situation so mad.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Things Yeah right, Yeah, they started running you know, like
- 16:35Speaker 5: the zero blitz stuff where teams now are they're putting
- 16:38Speaker 5: six seven guys up at the line of scrimmage and
- 16:41Speaker 5: then nine times out of ten they drop out of
- 16:43Speaker 5: it and they and they fall into coverage. But that
- 16:46Speaker 5: one time that they bring the house, it's the one
- 16:48Speaker 5: time you're not expecting them to bring the house, and
- 16:50Speaker 5: then that causes chaos. And the Patriots have been doing
- 16:54Speaker 5: that since eighteen, like seventeen eighteen somewhere around there, so
- 16:58Speaker 5: per usual on that side to the ball, they're still
- 17:01Speaker 5: trail blazer.
- 17:02Speaker 8: I think what I'm I'm interested in is is what
- 17:04Speaker 8: kind of dynamic is this gonna set up down the road,
- 17:07Speaker 8: Because we mentioned all these top notch quarterbacks, Like you know,
- 17:09Speaker 8: Brady owned the AFC East for a long time and
- 17:13Speaker 8: as a result, the other teams were always kind of
- 17:15Speaker 8: in a state of looking for a coach, looking for
- 17:16Speaker 8: a quarterback. It keeps kind of turning over. You don't
- 17:19Speaker 8: really have those same power structures in a lot of
- 17:21Speaker 8: these divisions now anymore, you know, like the AFC South,
- 17:23Speaker 8: Like you know, there's not really a top dog who's
- 17:26Speaker 8: gonna own every you know, Peyton Manning owned the AFC South.
- 17:29Speaker 8: I mean, Philip Rivers probably largely owned the AFC, but
- 17:31Speaker 8: you know there aren't that anymore. So what's gonna happen
- 17:34Speaker 8: with these quarterbacks like Sam Howell or you know quarterbacks
- 17:38Speaker 8: who are okay? I mean, maybe that's a bad example
- 17:40Speaker 8: because you feel like the Eagles are going to kind
- 17:42Speaker 8: of own things. But you know, for teams like in
- 17:43Speaker 8: the AFC East, where it's kind of up and down
- 17:45Speaker 8: right now, Josh Allen's good, but not like gonna dominate every.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Two is really good. You know, it's tough for the Patriots.
- 17:50Speaker 3: But just what's gonna be the end result?
- 17:52Speaker 8: We're gonna have a lot of teams looking for quarterbacks,
- 17:54Speaker 8: or we're gonna have a lot of teams with just
- 17:55Speaker 8: solid quarterbacks that you know, aren't trying to enter that
- 17:58Speaker 8: mix every single year trying to turn things over? Will
- 18:00Speaker 8: be more allowing for teams to develop quarterbacks because you're
- 18:03Speaker 8: not there was some huge.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Divide, is not fresher? Yeah that you know, all the
- 18:09Speaker 1: other AFC East teams felt Miami Jets.
- 18:12Speaker 5: You're constantly chasing it, you know, And I don't well,
- 18:13Speaker 5: I think that that word that he uses development and
- 18:16Speaker 5: I think that what I would say is going on
- 18:19Speaker 5: around the league right now is that teams are screwing
- 18:22Speaker 5: up the development aspect of the quarterback and they just
- 18:25Speaker 5: are expecting to draft these guys in the first round
- 18:28Speaker 5: and take them and their talent is just going to
- 18:30Speaker 5: carry them. And you look at the Patriots, the Jets,
- 18:33Speaker 5: the Bears, you know, all those teams from the twenty
- 18:35Speaker 5: one quarterback class. For the most part, they've all screwed
- 18:39Speaker 5: up developing their quarterbacks. Like maybe you think that Zach
- 18:42Speaker 5: Wilson would have stunk anyways, Like who knows, but the
- 18:44Speaker 5: Jets have certainly not done him any favors by the
- 18:47Speaker 5: way that they've developed them. The same with Mac Jones
- 18:49Speaker 5: here and your guy Kenny Pickett Tamara in Pittsburgh. Now
- 18:53Speaker 5: he's on another offensive coordinator and they haven't really figured
- 18:56Speaker 5: it out. So that I think is the biggest thing
- 18:59Speaker 5: is that if you're draft one of these quarterbacks, you
- 19:01Speaker 5: have to nurture them, like you have to put them
- 19:03Speaker 5: in situations where they're going to develop into good players,
- 19:06Speaker 5: because you can't just expect them to do it all
- 19:07Speaker 5: on their own.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Understanding that it is a tough position to play.
- 19:12Speaker 7: Yeah, and I also think the style of quarterback has
- 19:14Speaker 7: changed since like Brady and all of them, Like these
- 19:16Speaker 7: guys are all dual threat quarterbacks for the most part,
- 19:18Speaker 7: or they can do both. And I think Brady is
- 19:21Speaker 7: not like that. Like Brady is not like anything that
- 19:23Speaker 7: we're seeing right now with Jalen Hurts Mahomes, Like they're
- 19:25Speaker 7: two different people. Yeah, and that's fine, there's nothing wrong
- 19:29Speaker 7: with it. Like they're both good, good quarterbacks one way
- 19:31Speaker 7: or the other. But I think now a lot of
- 19:33Speaker 7: the quarterbacks are trending towards the Mahomes.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I think you have at least have the ability to
- 19:38Speaker 1: take advantage of when there's open space in front of you,
- 19:42Speaker 1: you know, because otherwise you're kind of a sitting duck.
- 19:45Speaker 1: In today's NFL, you have you know, Joe Burrows not
- 19:48Speaker 1: a running quarterback, but he can run.
- 19:51Speaker 7: You know, you have to be at least Daniel Jones
- 19:54Speaker 7: can also run.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, in today's NFL, you need to extend the play.
- 19:58Speaker 4: And I think that is low key funny right now.
- 20:00Speaker 5: They they the one thing I you know, watching the
- 20:03Speaker 5: teams around the league over the weekend was just all
- 20:07Speaker 5: these quarterbacks now can win on extended play second reaction
- 20:13Speaker 5: type plays where when the original play breaks down, they
- 20:16Speaker 5: can run around a little bit, and even if it's
- 20:19Speaker 5: just a little dump off, you know, over the middle
- 20:21Speaker 5: or something like that, they can at least create a
- 20:24Speaker 5: little bit. Now, the good ones like you know, Stroud
- 20:26Speaker 5: made that throat of Tank Dell that's just absurd, but
- 20:28Speaker 5: like some of them are also just kind of running
- 20:31Speaker 5: around and creating a little bit of space and just
- 20:33Speaker 5: drop it to the running back in the flat or
- 20:35Speaker 5: something like that. And if you can't do that, if
- 20:38Speaker 5: you can't add that, then then you're kind of screwed.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Like you there's not enough good plays to go around
- 20:44Speaker 5: if you can't do that.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I want to push back a little bit on the
- 20:47Speaker 4: Zach Wilson not being quote unquote nurtured because I think
- 20:52Speaker 4: he didn't like Lafleur as an offensive quarter. They went
- 20:56Speaker 4: out and got him more of a veteran offensive coordinator
- 20:58Speaker 4: and hack it and that hasn't worked. They drafted a
- 21:02Speaker 4: litany of skilled position guys, Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Breese
- 21:07Speaker 4: Hall offensive lineman early in the draft, and like Elijah
- 21:12Speaker 4: vera Tucker first rounder, at some point it's got to
- 21:16Speaker 4: be on him. Yeah, No, that might be a bad one.
- 21:18Speaker 5: But I just think that in general, if you look
- 21:21Speaker 5: at the guys that are succeeding in the league versus
- 21:24Speaker 5: the young guys that are succeeding versus the ones that aren't,
- 21:27Speaker 5: most of the ones that are succeeding are in these
- 21:29Speaker 5: like stable environments with the same offensive coaches every year,
- 21:33Speaker 5: and their teams are offense first and forward thinking with
- 21:36Speaker 5: personnel and adding personnel.
- 21:38Speaker 4: That's the key to me is like when we were talking, Mike,
- 21:42Speaker 4: when you brought up the whole AFC East and like
- 21:44Speaker 4: the divisions and you have someone I do think that
- 21:46Speaker 4: that Buffalo put pressure on the rest of the division
- 21:48Speaker 4: to keep up. They told you Buffalo is the king
- 21:51Speaker 4: of the division because they score a thirty plus most weeks.
- 21:55Speaker 4: And Miami went out and they got an offensive guy
- 21:58Speaker 4: that said I can win with this guy, but we
- 22:01Speaker 4: just need to get some speed around him. And it works. Now,
- 22:03Speaker 4: sometimes there's a lot of these teams in Fred will
- 22:06Speaker 4: give you the laundry list of the AFC East teams
- 22:08Speaker 4: that tried to do this to keep up with Brady
- 22:11Speaker 4: and just failed. Yep, you know, they couldn't put the
- 22:13Speaker 4: pieces around a quarterback or a coach, and it was
- 22:16Speaker 4: just every year we were doing these previews for the Bills,
- 22:19Speaker 4: the Jets, and the Dolphins, and it was a different coach,
- 22:23Speaker 4: a different quarterback. I think Rich Simini had a thing
- 22:26Speaker 4: on Twitter yesterday that this is like his thirty something
- 22:29Speaker 4: starting quarterback that he's covered, you know, in his time
- 22:32Speaker 4: covering the Jets, like I've covered like three. You know,
- 22:36Speaker 4: it's it's unbelievable, you know, some of the differences that
- 22:40Speaker 4: you can see. But I do think Miami felt pressure
- 22:43Speaker 4: to keep up with Buffalo, and now it's a two
- 22:46Speaker 4: horse race in that division. The Jets and the Patriots
- 22:49Speaker 4: have to figure out where do I find the offense
- 22:51Speaker 4: to keep up with these two teams, because that's what
- 22:54Speaker 4: it's going to take. I think Evan's right, you need
- 22:56Speaker 4: to find that offensive mind to sort of keep up.
- 23:00Speaker 4: That's how I feel about it too. I'm with Evan.
- 23:01Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 8: And then the next place my head's going to though,
- 23:04Speaker 8: is you know Evan saying we have to nurture the quarterback. Well,
- 23:07Speaker 8: if you draft you know, Drake may or Caleb Williams,
- 23:10Speaker 8: how do.
- 23:10Speaker 3: You nurture them? Like, how do you nurture them? With
- 23:12Speaker 3: this team right now?
- 23:13Speaker 4: I mean, tell them it's gonna be Okay, all.
- 23:15Speaker 8: Right, well, but it's just you only have but you
- 23:18Speaker 8: know what I mean, Like, yeah, it's hard to put
- 23:21Speaker 8: it all into place.
- 23:22Speaker 5: It's easy to say, I just I think, you know,
- 23:26Speaker 5: Zach Wilson is probably a bad example because he just
- 23:28Speaker 5: stunk to begin with and just was never good. But
- 23:31Speaker 5: Mac at least had some promise in his rookie season,
- 23:34Speaker 5: and I think what you see is what you learn
- 23:37Speaker 5: from it is that it's almost, you know, like a kid,
- 23:40Speaker 5: like the nurture is just as important as the DNA, right,
- 23:43Speaker 5: like of what you put around him and who's coaching him,
- 23:45Speaker 5: and having stable coaching year in and year out. So
- 23:48Speaker 5: to answer your question, I would say that you have
- 23:51Speaker 5: to have one voice speaking to Caleb Williams for the
- 23:53Speaker 5: rest of his career if you can, like that's ideal,
- 23:56Speaker 5: and you have to continue to add offensive talent around
- 23:59Speaker 5: him just because you draft Caleb Williams. You can't just say, well,
- 24:02Speaker 5: he's gonna make you know, DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne
- 24:06Speaker 5: and Pop Douglas and this offense a viable offense just
- 24:09Speaker 5: because he's that good.
- 24:10Speaker 4: It's not that simple anymore.
- 24:12Speaker 5: The guys that are succeeding are the guys that have
- 24:14Speaker 5: you know, arsenals around them that are even Patrick Mahomes.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I mean, if I was the head coach or jam
- 24:21Speaker 1: if I got Caleb Williams or may or whoever. First
- 24:26Speaker 1: thing I've said, Okay, we've got to how's our line,
- 24:28Speaker 1: Like is the line good enough? You know? I want
- 24:32Speaker 1: to make sure that he's going to be protected. No, no,
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'm not saying that we have to like spend a
- 24:37Speaker 1: lot of assets on drafting high draft picks, but is
- 24:41Speaker 1: our line stable? And if it's not, I want but
- 24:45Speaker 1: he's not going to be good right.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Off, Like that's what I want to I don't want
- 24:50Speaker 4: to get him killed or anything. I mean, there's a
- 24:51Speaker 4: difference between being like the Jets.
- 24:53Speaker 1: He's like, he's not going to be right out of
- 24:55Speaker 1: the gate, you know, so he's not going to elevate
- 24:57Speaker 1: his line year one. So I just want to make
- 24:59Speaker 1: sure the line is good enough so that he doesn't
- 25:02Speaker 1: get his head bashed in in year one.
- 25:04Speaker 8: But and that's along the lines that I'm going is
- 25:06Speaker 8: that is there ever a situation where you're gonna say,
- 25:08Speaker 8: and Evin knows where I'm going with this, Like we
- 25:11Speaker 8: can't nurture him right now we don't have the pieces
- 25:13Speaker 8: along the offensive line, we don't have the weapons.
- 25:16Speaker 1: But I think you can do that. Again, I don't
- 25:18Speaker 1: think you need first or second round draft picks to
- 25:21Speaker 1: make sure you have a good line. Second thing, who's
- 25:24Speaker 1: my offensive line coach? Is he any good?
- 25:26Speaker 10: You know?
- 25:27Speaker 1: Is can he take fourth round, fifth round picks and
- 25:30Speaker 1: turn them into NFL players? Because that is what you
- 25:33Speaker 1: need to do in the NFL. You can't spend all
- 25:36Speaker 1: your assets on high draft picks on the offensive line
- 25:39Speaker 1: because if you do that, you're gonna sacrifice all the
- 25:42Speaker 1: other positions that need help too. Who's my coach? Can
- 25:45Speaker 1: he mold these guys into good NFL players? I didn't
- 25:49Speaker 1: say great, I just said good.
- 25:51Speaker 5: It's gone both ways because the Niners and the Eagles
- 25:55Speaker 5: are built from the trenches. Like those two teams built
- 25:57Speaker 5: the offensive line first and then drop the skill positions
- 26:00Speaker 5: players in there afterwards. Like the Eagles line is the
- 26:03Speaker 5: same line that they won the Super Bowl with in
- 26:05Speaker 5: twenty seventeen. Is Jason Kelcey.
- 26:07Speaker 4: It's like.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Like that offensive line has been the same group. You know,
- 26:12Speaker 5: Dallas say, that's pretty much the same group that it's
- 26:14Speaker 5: been thout Dak's entire career. So there are teams now
- 26:17Speaker 5: that are doing it both ways. I think to deduce
- 26:20Speaker 5: his point, you know, if you draft Caleb Williams in
- 26:23Speaker 5: the first round with the first overall pick or whatever,
- 26:25Speaker 5: then in veteran free agency, whether it's t Higgins or
- 26:28Speaker 5: it's trading for Brandon Aiyuk or it's whoever, like that
- 26:31Speaker 5: has to be your big move in the off season
- 26:33Speaker 5: is you know, he's going to have somebody now to
- 26:36Speaker 5: throw to, and you have to fill in the rest,
- 26:38Speaker 5: like you were saying Fred with you know, got your
- 26:41Speaker 5: second in rounds two through seven is going to have
- 26:43Speaker 5: to be the line and everything else. But I think
- 26:46Speaker 5: that that's the way that you have to start. If
- 26:48Speaker 5: you're the Patriots, you have to get the quarterback, and
- 26:50Speaker 5: you have to get the quarterback a true number one receiver,
- 26:52Speaker 5: not any of the stuff that they've been rolling out lately.
- 26:55Speaker 3: But that you would go receiver.
- 26:57Speaker 8: Sorry in free agency then, I mean, because you've got
- 26:59Speaker 8: to free and see in February like that's you know
- 27:01Speaker 8: you I mean, at that point, are you committed to
- 27:04Speaker 8: we're going to take a quarterback at the top, like
- 27:06Speaker 8: you know, or do you overextend yourself.
- 27:09Speaker 3: With a tackle and say we're not going to draft
- 27:11Speaker 3: the tackle.
- 27:12Speaker 7: I'm a little bit scared with them drafting a wide
- 27:14Speaker 7: receiver like in the first round, to say, if they
- 27:16Speaker 7: don't get the quarterback and they're trying to go for
- 27:18Speaker 7: the wide receiver, that scares me because they can't develop
- 27:20Speaker 7: that either.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Yeah. You know who else it's Marvin Harris. Yeah, it
- 27:23Speaker 1: probably probably scares Robert Kraft, and he might. You know,
- 27:30Speaker 1: there was a I don't know if you want to
- 27:31Speaker 1: call it a slip up yesterday by Bill O'Brien kind
- 27:35Speaker 1: of intimating that, you know, about the quarterback decision, you know,
- 27:39Speaker 1: we'll talk, and he mentioned Robert Craft's name. Now, I
- 27:42Speaker 1: think he might have been just talking in general, you know,
- 27:45Speaker 1: decisions that are made. I don't know if he meant
- 27:47Speaker 1: Robert Craft specific to who will be the quarterback this Sunday,
- 27:51Speaker 1: but it was interesting and I got to imagine that
- 27:56Speaker 1: with everything that's going on, you know, Robert might be
- 28:00Speaker 1: a little bit more involved right now than he has been,
- 28:04Speaker 1: you know, only because he's probably the one thinking. I'm
- 28:08Speaker 1: the one thinking about beyond this season. I can't rely
- 28:13Speaker 1: on my coaches to do that. Because whether or not
- 28:15Speaker 1: he's going to keep Bill. Nobody knows the answer to that,
- 28:18Speaker 1: including the assistant coaches. So what are they doing. Are
- 28:21Speaker 1: they having their little phone calls to to survive and
- 28:24Speaker 1: setting up, you know, their careers for next year. Like
- 28:27Speaker 1: there's a lot of uncertainty down there. And you know,
- 28:29Speaker 1: I talked to some people who been around the league
- 28:32Speaker 1: for a while and he admitted that's what happens when
- 28:35Speaker 1: you have this type of uncertainty. Assistants start setting up,
- 28:40Speaker 1: you know, stuff for a off season because they don't
- 28:42Speaker 1: know if they're going to have a job, and they
- 28:44Speaker 1: have families, they they you know, it's hard.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, well yeah, I don't know. It's interesting.
- 28:52Speaker 4: I mean, it's Mike looked like he was just, yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 4: I got family.
- 28:58Speaker 3: It's the content team on the.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Should content team blow it up?
- 29:05Speaker 1: Blow it up?
- 29:06Speaker 5: That's how it works in college.
- 29:07Speaker 7: That's how it works in college. If you work for
- 29:10Speaker 7: football and your football coach getspired the content team, graphic designer,
- 29:14Speaker 7: everybody's out.
- 29:15Speaker 1: We were laughing because, uh, it's gonna not really funny.
- 29:18Speaker 1: But you know, one of the teams that I forget
- 29:21Speaker 1: who ment I think it was Gary Meyer mentioned the
- 29:23Speaker 1: Chargers for you know, it's a landing spot for Bill Belichick,
- 29:27Speaker 1: and the Chargers are known for like a happy, go
- 29:30Speaker 1: lucky content team, Like they're the ones doing all this
- 29:32Speaker 1: cutting edge they need fun of other teams, like they
- 29:35Speaker 1: would be.
- 29:37Speaker 7: They would all quit, Like they thrive off of like
- 29:40Speaker 7: personality content and like their stuff is elite. Oh yeah,
- 29:43Speaker 7: they would call quit.
- 29:44Speaker 1: There's like, imagine if like we could make fun of
- 29:47Speaker 1: other teams.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Oh my good, the snark that we have in this
- 29:51Speaker 4: why are you looking at me? You're the one that
- 29:54Speaker 4: openly despises how.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I would I would be. I would be there for that,
- 29:57Speaker 1: the young people, I would be there for that.
- 30:00Speaker 7: For that. Here have you seen all the content with
- 30:05Speaker 7: the Raiders since?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Oh, it's like the shackles have been taken off.
- 30:09Speaker 7: There was one quote that said, ding dong, the witch
- 30:12Speaker 7: is dead. There there's been a lot of very interesting
- 30:15Speaker 7: things coming from that account.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Like like no one's like it's it's substitute
- 30:20Speaker 1: teacher time.
- 30:20Speaker 4: And in the right and eight records, we're going to
- 30:22Speaker 4: finish the season.
- 30:25Speaker 5: They like, but they like the vibe in the building,
- 30:28Speaker 5: the vibe, which.
- 30:29Speaker 4: There's something to be said for that. And I could
- 30:31Speaker 4: I understand.
- 30:32Speaker 5: It's also known as there's just nobody in charge, so
- 30:35Speaker 5: it's just.
- 30:36Speaker 1: A bicep cramp. I'm scratching my neck and my.
- 30:43Speaker 4: I have a question for you guys, and.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Specifically anybody, no question.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I got a question for you.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Well, Deuce is probably ain't for you because I know
- 30:55Speaker 4: you don't really pay attention. But has the performance not
- 31:02Speaker 4: necessarily their individual performances, but the performance of US and
- 31:05Speaker 4: North Carolina with with Williams and may discouraged you at
- 31:09Speaker 4: all about either one of those guys.
- 31:11Speaker 1: No, not the team but the player and Williams.
- 31:13Speaker 7: But anyway, I would say Williams off the field scares me.
- 31:17Speaker 7: His dad and his emotions afterwards his.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Dad kind of frightens me. I don't care about the
- 31:21Speaker 4: emotion who ever is making.
- 31:24Speaker 7: I don't know if it's him not wanting to speak
- 31:25Speaker 7: or his coach not making him, like allowing him to
- 31:27Speaker 7: speak after the game. But that's like not helping him
- 31:29Speaker 7: from when he gets there.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Every week. It's something, it's something every week.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Yeah, he's also dropping dimes, so yeah, I like that,
- 31:37Speaker 4: like the the father and you brought this up a
- 31:41Speaker 4: few weeks ago about the LeVar ball thing. Yeah, I
- 31:44Speaker 4: think that's that's valid, and that's kind of hard to
- 31:47Speaker 4: have and bring in. I don't care about the other
- 31:49Speaker 4: stuff as much as everybody else does. It's not ideal.
- 31:52Speaker 4: I understand why people are talking about it, but if
- 31:55Speaker 4: the guy could play, I wouldn't worry about him crying
- 31:58Speaker 4: to his mother.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I try to separate, you know, Like in terms of
- 32:01Speaker 5: your question, I don't think it actually all like I
- 32:04Speaker 5: think a lot of people look at the draft and
- 32:06Speaker 5: look at results, and it were not when you're looking
- 32:09Speaker 5: at the draft, the results are not really all that important.
- 32:13Speaker 4: It's more about the traits, right.
- 32:15Speaker 5: So, like agreed, I think in an offense at UNC
- 32:19Speaker 5: that that that's not very good, Like there's not a
- 32:21Speaker 5: lot of talent.
- 32:22Speaker 4: The argument would be like, just how good is this
- 32:25Speaker 4: guy if he's the savior if he can't do better
- 32:28Speaker 4: than five hundred in college? You know, And I know
- 32:30Speaker 4: it's way different sports and there's way more impact that
- 32:35Speaker 4: one standout can have in basketball, But this was the
- 32:38Speaker 4: argument against Mark hell Foltz what whatever six years ago,
- 32:42Speaker 4: seven years ago, when he was you know, everybody's number
- 32:45Speaker 4: one overall pick and Washington had like a nine to
- 32:48Speaker 4: nineteen record, and everybody's like, how good can he really be?
- 32:52Speaker 11: Now?
- 32:52Speaker 4: In basketball, that was a red flag because one guy
- 32:55Speaker 4: can't impact wins and laws so much carried so UNC.
- 33:01Speaker 5: Was ranked twentieth when they played Clemson, and on the
- 33:04Speaker 5: broadcast they said that the UNC coaching staff had some
- 33:08Speaker 5: trick plays up their sleeve because they knew that Clemson's
- 33:11Speaker 5: roster was significantly better than theirs, and they knew that
- 33:13Speaker 5: they were the worst team even though they were ranked
- 33:15Speaker 5: better than clems.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Prison should be better year than Clemson. I've seen them
- 33:21Speaker 4: a few times. They're not bad. Their record is yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 4: so I don't know if it's bad coaching or what,
- 33:26Speaker 4: but they should be better than they have.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:28Speaker 5: I think with Drake May, he's the most well rounded prospect.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Like when you just think about NFL first round quarterback prospects,
- 33:37Speaker 5: they tall, big arm win at all three levels, has
- 33:40Speaker 5: some mobility, has some moxie, Like that's that's Drake May.
- 33:43Speaker 5: Like Drake May has all those traits. But I don't
- 33:46Speaker 5: know if he has one trait that is the standout
- 33:50Speaker 5: trait of the class, Like this is he is the
- 33:52Speaker 5: best at this in the entire class. Caleb Williams is
- 33:55Speaker 5: the best improviser in the class, and it's not close,
- 33:58Speaker 5: like he's the best second reaction. Patrick Mahomes run around,
- 34:01Speaker 5: make something happen in the class. Michael Pennix has the
- 34:03Speaker 5: best deep ball in the class. I don't know what
- 34:07Speaker 5: Drake May's like elite elite trade is, but all of
- 34:10Speaker 5: his trades are really solid.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I would believe it or not. I would feel better
- 34:15Speaker 1: if the Patriots had Caleb Williams come into the building
- 34:18Speaker 1: as a quarterback, if Gerard Mayo was the head coach
- 34:22Speaker 1: rather than a first time I know Gerard is a
- 34:25Speaker 1: first time head coach, but outsider coming in who's never
- 34:28Speaker 1: been a head coach before, because he's gonna have to
- 34:31Speaker 1: deal with this guy who you know, he's got some
- 34:34Speaker 1: you know, I'm the guy, and you know, at least
- 34:39Speaker 1: Gerrod has that institutional knowledge here in comfort where he
- 34:44Speaker 1: might be able to, you know, deal with that. But
- 34:46Speaker 1: I worry about that because when I see Caleb Williams
- 34:48Speaker 1: even walking around, it's either chin up or chinned down.
- 34:51Speaker 1: He's never just neutral. It's either I'm the man or
- 34:55Speaker 1: my life's about to end. Like there's never anything in
- 34:58Speaker 1: the middle.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Into your rival thirty points. I never see him, like, yeah,
- 35:05Speaker 4: I think with him.
- 35:07Speaker 5: So there are a lot of the hot names in
- 35:10Speaker 5: head coaching hires right now, you know, Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowick.
- 35:14Speaker 5: A lot of those guys are running Shanahan adjacent type
- 35:17Speaker 5: offenses where the quarterback needs to be like Brock Purty,
- 35:21Speaker 5: he just needs to press the right buttons on the
- 35:23Speaker 5: on the on the joystick, right like. You don't want
- 35:25Speaker 5: the quarterback playing a whole lot out of side the
- 35:28Speaker 5: framework of the offense and those offenses.
- 35:31Speaker 4: That's not Caleb Williams.
- 35:33Speaker 5: So if you're gonna draft guy like Caleb Williams, then
- 35:35Speaker 5: you're better off going with somebody from like the the
- 35:38Speaker 5: Red Tree, you know, and Eric b Enemy or someone
- 35:41Speaker 5: along those lines that understands how to kind of foster
- 35:45Speaker 5: his playmaking ability, because if you're just asking him to
- 35:48Speaker 5: just run the offense, you know, and just be like
- 35:52Speaker 5: this rock party type quarterback, you're taking away a super power.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Sure you want it, you want to play to the
- 35:56Speaker 1: players of skills, absolutely, you know, But like I said,
- 36:01Speaker 1: like I'm less worried about that. Then what happens when
- 36:04Speaker 1: things don't go right, you know, or receivers drop balls
- 36:08Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 36:09Speaker 4: That's like How do you have to figure that out with?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Do I have a structure that can handle like this
- 36:15Speaker 1: big time first round high draft pick who's already come
- 36:19Speaker 1: in with millions in the bank and he's the s
- 36:24Speaker 1: How do I.
- 36:24Speaker 12: Deal with that?
- 36:25Speaker 4: Yeah? I think that's that's where all the scouting in
- 36:29Speaker 4: the draft prep is important. You have to find out
- 36:31Speaker 4: what's inside a guy. Yeah, and that's impossible for us
- 36:35Speaker 4: not being involved in that.
- 36:37Speaker 1: But he's good enough flaws you can take him anyway,
- 36:41Speaker 1: because yeah, I.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Just would caution into labeling something a strength or a
- 36:45Speaker 4: flaw based on what you see on TV.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Fair enough, you know what I mean? Fair Enough?
- 36:49Speaker 4: Now, if if my scouts you know, went out and
- 36:52Speaker 4: they talked to Caleb Williams and they're like, you know,
- 36:54Speaker 4: this guy's he's he's pretty solid, he's grounded, he's he's
- 36:58Speaker 4: got the temperament to be able to deal with the
- 36:59Speaker 4: sling scenarows. Going to Boston in that market will not
- 37:03Speaker 4: be an issue for that. I'd be fine with it now,
- 37:05Speaker 4: same thing if they said the other thing, if they
- 37:07Speaker 4: went the other way, like the you know, Boston will
- 37:09Speaker 4: eat this guy alive, you know, as soon as he
- 37:11Speaker 4: has two you know, two bad games in a row.
- 37:14Speaker 4: He won't he won't be able to hit market. Yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 4: I think it can be when.
- 37:19Speaker 5: I mean, when they've dragged Mac Jones through that.
- 37:22Speaker 4: So I'll say no because I I think it's only
- 37:26Speaker 4: recently starting to go that way. There's still a lot
- 37:31Speaker 4: of people out there. You got to get them Alan,
- 37:33Speaker 4: you gotta get them receivers.
- 37:34Speaker 10: You got it.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Yeah, Okay, I think in our line of work, I
- 37:37Speaker 7: think it's a lot of people here are like fans. First,
- 37:41Speaker 7: I think that.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Can I interrupt you for one second? I read a
- 37:43Speaker 4: tweet today that said if Mac when Mac Jones through
- 37:46Speaker 4: the pass of Devonte Parker kind of similar to the
- 37:49Speaker 4: one that Mahomes through the Valdas scantling last night. Okay,
- 37:53Speaker 4: everybody beat up on Mac for it. Can you name
- 37:56Speaker 4: me one person in this town? No, No, I'm asking
- 37:59Speaker 4: right now. I'm asking a question because I thought it was.
- 38:02Speaker 4: I said in the postgame show it was the single
- 38:05Speaker 4: best throw I ever saw Mac Jones make, the one
- 38:07Speaker 4: that Parker dropped against the Raiders. Well, I do you
- 38:10Speaker 4: know one guy who blamed Mac Jones for overthrowing Parker
- 38:13Speaker 4: on that play? Because I did not hear not even
- 38:16Speaker 4: this is one that I'm going to go literal. Not
- 38:18Speaker 4: a single person did I hear say that that was
- 38:20Speaker 4: a bad threat.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I saw the same tweet, but it was in defensive Tua,
- 38:23Speaker 1: like everybody's up in arms because you know they drop
- 38:27Speaker 1: balls on her, But no TA does it in it's silence.
- 38:30Speaker 4: You know, he throws a perfect This guy was trying
- 38:32Speaker 4: to say that the throw to DeVante Parker and the
- 38:34Speaker 4: throat to Jalen Rager, I think in the Washington game
- 38:37Speaker 4: were deemed by the Patriots media as bad throws, and
- 38:41Speaker 4: I would strongly argue against that, saying I did not
- 38:45Speaker 4: hear a single person put those throws on. Mac Jones.
- 38:48Speaker 1: No I didn't, So there is still.
- 38:50Speaker 4: An element of it might be a small straw man
- 38:52Speaker 4: to you a point, Fred. Maybe it was just just
- 38:54Speaker 4: happened to be a tweet that I saw today. But
- 38:57Speaker 4: I'm sorry, but that's that's ridiculous, And no one argued
- 39:02Speaker 4: Mac Jones. I don't know what side of the street
- 39:03Speaker 4: against I don't know what side of the.
- 39:04Speaker 8: Street this is, but I feel like those throws to
- 39:06Speaker 8: Parker and Riger were like really hard, like to expect
- 39:11Speaker 8: the guy to catch it anyway.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Like it's just in traffic.
- 39:13Speaker 8: It's I mean, the one of the valves scandling last
- 39:14Speaker 8: night was just a straight up like he's in the
- 39:16Speaker 8: clear here it is.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Boom, you know, just got to get caught a hundred
- 39:21Speaker 4: one hundred like.
- 39:22Speaker 8: But I just, I mean, I don't even know what
- 39:23Speaker 8: I'm trying to argue right here. I'm not even like
- 39:25Speaker 8: I just that my eye like it was there, but
- 39:27Speaker 8: there's just guys all over him. It's a guy on
- 39:29Speaker 8: his arm, you know, like it's I don't know, just
- 39:31Speaker 8: to me.
- 39:31Speaker 5: That that that was going to be a fifty to
- 39:33Speaker 5: fifty catch artist fifty team. That's like a seventy five
- 39:38Speaker 5: twenty I was a ninety nine to one ball. But
- 39:40Speaker 5: I don't know very many receivers that don't make that
- 39:43Speaker 5: catch that Parker did. Yeah, I really don't.
- 39:45Speaker 4: And that's what the.
- 39:47Speaker 5: Value scandaling catch too, is that was probably easier, That
- 39:50Speaker 5: was probably not even necessarily easier, just that you have
- 39:53Speaker 5: to make that.
- 39:53Speaker 4: You have to make that receiver, you have to. Yeah,
- 39:56Speaker 4: And the part about what stuck stuck out to me
- 40:00Speaker 4: was I watching I didn't watch the entirety of the
- 40:02Speaker 4: usc UCLA in the Clemson North Carolina. But I watched
- 40:06Speaker 4: chunks and I saw both guys throw just like sort
- 40:12Speaker 4: of eye popping touchdowns that you look and you say,
- 40:15Speaker 4: what amazing ability, right and what gets there? And then
- 40:19Speaker 4: I look at the end of the day and I
- 40:20Speaker 4: look at it in a hurry. But I look at
- 40:22Speaker 4: the point totals. Like Caleb Williams, I don't really care
- 40:25Speaker 4: about the wins and losses when they're losing.
- 40:28Speaker 5: Fifty two forty two, like against Washington.
- 40:30Speaker 4: You know, he's in a shootout with a team that's
- 40:32Speaker 4: obviously better than his and he's going, you know, punch
- 40:36Speaker 4: for punch. He played out of his mind against UCLA.
- 40:38Speaker 4: That didn't happen. Yeah, Like he ended up with whatever
- 40:41Speaker 4: thirteen points. The one touchdown was this like mind boggling
- 40:46Speaker 4: through And I'm wondering, did I am I putting too
- 40:49Speaker 4: much on this because did you see the both of
- 40:51Speaker 4: them kind of off their back foot? Yeah, Williams one
- 40:54Speaker 4: was ridiculous.
- 40:54Speaker 5: Climb the pocket and through like sixty five yards in
- 40:57Speaker 5: the air. I think that that's that's what when we
- 40:59Speaker 5: really start to break these guys down. Now, I mentioned
- 41:03Speaker 5: like the coaching thing because I think without knowing who's
- 41:06Speaker 5: going to be coaching them. It's hard to say which
- 41:08Speaker 5: one I would rather because the system and the fish, but.
- 41:11Speaker 4: You're still very high on both guys. If you have
- 41:14Speaker 4: one too, you're taking one of those team. Absolutely no
- 41:18Speaker 4: run the card up. I've had like several of my
- 41:21Speaker 4: my Moron friends have been like you still lean.
- 41:22Speaker 3: On that, Like yeah, yeah, what are they saying? What
- 41:25Speaker 3: do they want? They want somebody else? Or they just
- 41:27Speaker 3: don't think they're that guy.
- 41:28Speaker 7: Don't want to embarrass everyone is like knocking on these
- 41:31Speaker 7: guys just because they're not like Trevor Lawrence who never
- 41:33Speaker 7: lost a game in college.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Well, I actually think Caleb Williams is as talented as
- 41:37Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence was that Clemson. He's just not on a
- 41:40Speaker 5: team like Clemson. Oh Like, if you know, I just
- 41:43Speaker 5: Caleb Williams. You have to one of those two guys
- 41:48Speaker 5: is going to be the more consistent guy on film,
- 41:50Speaker 5: Like who's who's the one that's making the more consistent decisions,
- 41:52Speaker 5: Who's the one who's throwing from more consistent footwork.
- 41:55Speaker 4: And all those types of things.
- 41:56Speaker 5: And that's the guy that I think I'll probably end
- 41:59Speaker 5: up favoring because they both can make to Paul's point.
- 42:02Speaker 5: They can they can pull put up highlights like that.
- 42:04Speaker 5: That's that's not the problem.
- 42:07Speaker 1: What's the deadline? The Patriots have asked for your decision.
- 42:11Speaker 5: I will make a decision, Uh, three days before the
- 42:15Speaker 5: draft apri It's gonna take you really, what do you Bill? Ye,
- 42:22Speaker 5: I'm gonna held it close to the vest I mean,
- 42:24Speaker 5: you don't want other teams to know.
- 42:25Speaker 7: I feel like Evan has recency bias too, So it's gonna.
- 42:30Speaker 4: I do.
- 42:30Speaker 11: But in this.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Situation, like it really like the circumstances are really gonna matter.
- 42:35Speaker 5: Like if you're if you're putting the quarterback in the
- 42:38Speaker 5: Patriots offense, like Bill O'Brien's the offensive coordinator still, and
- 42:42Speaker 5: you're asking the quarterback to play within this offense, then
- 42:44Speaker 5: I don't want Caleb Williams because he's You're you're taking
- 42:48Speaker 5: away a superpower. But if you're gonna hire somebody that's
- 42:51Speaker 5: gonna allow him to go and and be Caleb Williams,
- 42:53Speaker 5: Like I think to Paul's like, you have to live
- 42:55Speaker 5: with the fact that he's gonna be up and down
- 42:58Speaker 5: a little bit, especially early, like because he's gonna make
- 43:00Speaker 5: these ridiculous plays, you know, c J. Stroud through three
- 43:03Speaker 5: picks in that game on Sunday for the text.
- 43:05Speaker 1: And I say, so what, they've got a quarterback, right, Yeah.
- 43:09Speaker 4: So you're gonna have to live with some of that
- 43:10Speaker 4: with a guy like Caleb Williams. Yeah, all right, eight
- 43:14Speaker 4: five to five Pats, my buddy who I've been trashing,
- 43:16Speaker 4: says we'll see how he responds now to adversity c J. Stroud,
- 43:20Speaker 4: I mean, they won the game.
- 43:21Speaker 1: It's just like it's like you.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Watch all these games when you're home on to buy
- 43:25Speaker 4: and you actually get to see it all, and you're like,
- 43:28Speaker 4: did he watch the same way slate of games that
- 43:30Speaker 4: everybody else did?
- 43:32Speaker 1: Eight five five pats five hundred is the ACE ticket houtline,
- 43:34Speaker 1: web radio at patries dot com is the email address.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Let's go to the phones, Mike's and Puerto Rico. What's up, Mike, Hey, guys,
- 43:43Speaker 1: how you doing good?
- 43:47Speaker 13: I wanted to can you hear it?
- 43:50Speaker 1: Yes?
- 43:51Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 43:52Speaker 13: First of all, I wanted to thank h the opportunity
- 43:55Speaker 13: to thank you guys for everything that you've done this year,
- 43:59Speaker 13: which has been particularly hard. So one of the few
- 44:02Speaker 13: reasons that you know, I still remain a past fan
- 44:06Speaker 13: is mostly because of you guys, thank you the addition.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Of Robert Kraft at.
- 44:14Speaker 13: Well well, speaking of that, I did want to bring
- 44:18Speaker 13: something up and see what your guys' thoughts on it is,
- 44:22Speaker 13: and more specifically how strongly you feel about this. And
- 44:28Speaker 13: I think it was Brady's dad at one point that
- 44:31Speaker 13: had mentioned that the tenure was not going to end
- 44:34Speaker 13: well or something like that, right, yep, okay, So I'm
- 44:39Speaker 13: I'm thinking back on it, and at the end of
- 44:42Speaker 13: the day, the book the box stops at the owner, correct, yep, yes, okay.
- 44:50Speaker 13: So taking that into consideration, the fact that we have
- 44:54Speaker 13: arguably lost or ended badly with a the best quarterback
- 45:00Speaker 13: of all time when he left to go to Tampa,
- 45:03Speaker 13: the arguably the best tight end of all time in
- 45:06Speaker 13: Gronk when he left needed to be traded. Now it
- 45:10Speaker 13: seems like it's Stephanie. Oh, and I'll also throw in
- 45:13Speaker 13: there Adam Vinitieri, who was at that time, I guess
- 45:16Speaker 13: assume one of the best kickers of all time as well.
- 45:20Speaker 5: I'm okay, yeah, I mean, you know, but all three
- 45:22Speaker 5: of those decisions have a common denominator, money, and that's what.
- 45:26Speaker 13: I'll And so this is where I was going to
- 45:28Speaker 13: go next, Evan, and I'd love to hear your thoughts
- 45:30Speaker 13: on it. Well, now we're arguably about to lose or
- 45:34Speaker 13: and badly with the greatest, arguably the greatest coach of
- 45:37Speaker 13: all time. So some of the maybe the first three
- 45:41Speaker 13: could have been tied into Belichick. But then are you
- 45:46Speaker 13: tye in Belichick to it himself or is the common
- 45:49Speaker 13: denominator in all this this mister Craft, who I appreciate
- 45:52Speaker 13: again for everything that he's done. But at the end
- 45:54Speaker 13: of the day, is how much of this is on him?
- 45:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's a fair question. It's a fair question.
- 46:02Speaker 1: You're talking about money. We've talked about it before. No
- 46:05Speaker 1: one really knows like how that's treated here, Like does
- 46:08Speaker 1: Bill have a budget that he can go over and
- 46:12Speaker 1: now we're talking you know, cash over cap. You know,
- 46:14Speaker 1: how much cash spending is made available to him. Robert
- 46:18Speaker 1: Kraft has come out and said publicly he's never had
- 46:21Speaker 1: you know, there's never been an issue with you know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: him not being able to get the players he wants.
- 46:26Speaker 1: So I don't know, but it's a fair thing to ask,
- 46:29Speaker 1: like how much of it is just you know, purely money,
- 46:34Speaker 1: you know, I.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Mean, usually in my experience, a lot of it is money.
- 46:37Speaker 5: That's usually the I would like give the real cash thing.
- 46:41Speaker 5: This is not just makes like toning the company line,
- 46:43Speaker 5: but like if there was a direct correlation between cash
- 46:46Speaker 5: spending and wins, then I would give it more credence.
- 46:49Speaker 5: But the Cleveland Browns are winning now, but they have
- 46:53Speaker 5: been in the last couple of years near the top
- 46:55Speaker 5: of the league in cash spending and they haven't won
- 46:57Speaker 5: a thing. So I just if there was like a
- 47:01Speaker 5: more direct tie to if you spend a lot Like baseball,
- 47:04Speaker 5: I feel like baseball is one of those sports that
- 47:06Speaker 5: if you spend a lot of money, your team is
- 47:07Speaker 5: going to be good in it until the very end
- 47:11Speaker 5: of the season.
- 47:12Speaker 4: I don't know if football is like that. There's certainly
- 47:14Speaker 4: no guarantees, no guarantee, But isn't Philly high in that
- 47:18Speaker 4: list every year? They're like top ten and they've been
- 47:21Speaker 4: pretty good for a while. Yeah, Cleveland is at the
- 47:24Speaker 4: top of the list because of Watson, Right, But I.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Guess my point is is just like at the end
- 47:29Speaker 5: of the day of mister Kraft isn't the one He's
- 47:31Speaker 5: not he didn't draft cold Strange in the first round, Nope, Right,
- 47:34Speaker 5: And he if he's not the one that's going out
- 47:36Speaker 5: and picking the groceries, so to speak. I have a
- 47:39Speaker 5: tough time saying that it's his fault that it came apart, right,
- 47:44Speaker 5: you know, right, he's not the one making the.
- 47:46Speaker 8: Person, especially if they were good players getting away that.
- 47:48Speaker 8: You're just like, we could afford that. Why is this
- 47:50Speaker 8: guy going? We just don't want to pay them.
- 47:52Speaker 1: And I'm still this still has to do with money.
- 47:54Speaker 1: But I'm sure the Crafts are saying we're paying Bill
- 47:57Speaker 1: Belichick the highest coach in sports, not just the NFL
- 48:02Speaker 1: from what I hear in sports. Figure it out, it's
- 48:05Speaker 1: gotta be worth something. Yeah, I agree with that, you know.
- 48:07Speaker 4: And I don't think that the Craft family is involved
- 48:10Speaker 4: in these football decisions directly, like like this to the
- 48:14Speaker 4: point where they're deciding who stays who goes. And yeah,
- 48:17Speaker 4: when you sign a guy to a major contract, yes,
- 48:19Speaker 4: the ownership needs to sign off on that. But in
- 48:22Speaker 4: terms of like, I don't think otherwise it's it's got
- 48:25Speaker 4: anything to do with it.
- 48:25Speaker 1: In terms of like how Gronk left, how Brady left,
- 48:30Speaker 1: It's amazing that those things didn't happen more often over
- 48:33Speaker 1: the twenty years because Yeah, when things go bad, people
- 48:37Speaker 1: you know, jump ship. But when things go good like
- 48:41Speaker 1: they had here, there's also that feeling of entitlement and
- 48:44Speaker 1: everybody's like, Okay, where's mine? You know, And that happens too,
- 48:49Speaker 1: and it's it's just as hard to keep it together
- 48:52Speaker 1: when you have that type of success as it is
- 48:54Speaker 1: when you have failure. It really is. And it's a
- 48:56Speaker 1: credit to both Bill Belichick and the crafts well.
- 48:59Speaker 5: I think maybe the from a cash standpoint, Bill Bell
- 49:04Speaker 5: whoever was, whether it was both of them are Bill
- 49:06Speaker 5: or whoever. Convincing everybody that taking less money was gonna
- 49:10Speaker 5: help the team win more games was like the biggest
- 49:13Speaker 5: thing that they ever pulled over anybody. Like convincing Brady
- 49:17Speaker 5: that he should be taking like fifteen million dollars less
- 49:20Speaker 5: a year because it's for the better of the team
- 49:22Speaker 5: and he's helping the team out and all these types
- 49:24Speaker 5: of things.
- 49:24Speaker 4: I mean, like I could tell you a brit Brady
- 49:26Speaker 4: set the ceiling, you had to have the guy that
- 49:29Speaker 4: was on board with that Brady set the ceiling. So
- 49:32Speaker 4: how can I go in Jee's like, you know, I
- 49:34Speaker 4: had fifteen touchdown catches last year, but the guy who
- 49:37Speaker 4: threw fifty touchdowns is only made. I can't ask more
- 49:40Speaker 4: than him, right, Yeah, he set the ceiling.
- 49:43Speaker 1: But in terms of career earnings, you know, up to
- 49:47Speaker 1: when he went to Tampa, he brady did okay it
- 49:50Speaker 1: Like he he allowed the Patriots to use his contract
- 49:54Speaker 1: as sort of like a mortgage where you would take
- 49:57Speaker 1: loans out. But every time they did that, he get
- 50:00Speaker 1: more money up front.
- 50:01Speaker 4: He did find absolutely, but I don't think there's much
- 50:04Speaker 4: of an argument against the fact that he could have
- 50:07Speaker 4: made He could have made if he held out every
- 50:09Speaker 4: contract for them. Now he's not alone. There's a lot
- 50:12Speaker 4: of guys that have done similar stuff. You wouldn't think
- 50:14Speaker 4: it based on the amount of money like Mahomes is getting.
- 50:17Speaker 4: And you know some of these guys, but they've you know,
- 50:19Speaker 4: Borrow did the same thing. Barrow just signed it. They've
- 50:22Speaker 4: taken a little bit less than they could have gotten.
- 50:25Speaker 4: Mahomes certainly did, and they'll keep revisiting, like Fred says,
- 50:29Speaker 4: they'll keep using that as a mortgage finding ways.
- 50:32Speaker 1: You know.
- 50:33Speaker 4: Again, as Feldger likes to say, give him a cocktail napkin.
- 50:36Speaker 4: He'll figure out how you can make a couple of
- 50:38Speaker 4: adjustments here and sign the guys you want to sign.
- 50:41Speaker 4: That's how it works now. It also helps to have
- 50:44Speaker 4: that huge spike in the salary cap that didn't exist
- 50:48Speaker 4: back you know, twenty years ago.
- 50:50Speaker 8: I was sinking a two when you were talking about
- 50:51Speaker 8: guys leaving, Like, think about how close Edelman was to leaving.
- 50:53Speaker 8: Think about how close.
- 50:54Speaker 1: High Tower was to leave.
- 50:55Speaker 3: The guys who were literally.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Nobody wanted Edelman, you know.
- 51:01Speaker 3: And these are two guys that made plays that won
- 51:04Speaker 3: you that last super Bowl and right up to it.
- 51:06Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean players have a right to cash
- 51:09Speaker 1: in and maximize every year they have because it's limited.
- 51:14Speaker 1: It's limited, you know.
- 51:15Speaker 4: Part of that's that luck thing too. Like you know,
- 51:18Speaker 4: Mike is right like so like Edelman was the MVP
- 51:21Speaker 4: of the last Super Bowl. What if he had signed
- 51:25Speaker 4: with the Giants? You know what if the Giants were.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Interested, I think everything he did in those those three
- 51:30Speaker 3: super Bowl no one.
- 51:32Speaker 4: And I'm not telling you if they didn't have Edelman,
- 51:34Speaker 4: they wouldn't have won, because personally, I think they would
- 51:36Speaker 4: have won even if Edelman wasn't. There would have been
- 51:38Speaker 4: someone else catching those passes because Brady was there. But
- 51:43Speaker 4: you could make an argument that Edelman was instrumental in
- 51:46Speaker 4: winning you know, the certainly the one he got the
- 51:49Speaker 4: MVP in. Yeah, I don't know if they win that
- 51:50Speaker 4: game with it, you know, maybe not, maybe not, but
- 51:53Speaker 4: maybe someone else catches those passes and it's business as usual.
- 51:57Speaker 4: You know, who knows. But to your point, that wasn't
- 51:59Speaker 4: like this stroke of genius that retained Edelman. They let
- 52:03Speaker 4: him go out there. He didn't really get any offers.
- 52:07Speaker 4: I think he talked to the Giants, didn't really get
- 52:09Speaker 4: an offer he wanted, and he came back. Now, when
- 52:13Speaker 4: that happens, the guy goes out and gets an offer
- 52:15Speaker 4: and leaves, you know what I mean, Like, it's no
- 52:18Speaker 4: change in philosophy in people like me and you, you
- 52:22Speaker 4: with the draft, me with the free agents, saying like,
- 52:25Speaker 4: at some point you got to retain some of these
- 52:26Speaker 4: guys and you can't just let everybody walk away. But
- 52:28Speaker 4: it's kind of what they've always done.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Let's go to Tim in Boston. What's up, Tim?
- 52:35Speaker 14: Hey, guys, all this talk about like stability and the
- 52:38Speaker 14: coaching staff makes me think about how important it is
- 52:40Speaker 14: that the next head coach is an offensive mind. You know,
- 52:43Speaker 14: this one offensive voice that everyone was talking about. If
- 52:46Speaker 14: you have a defensive head coach and that one offensive
- 52:49Speaker 14: voice is your ob and he does his job, develops
- 52:52Speaker 14: your quarterback. You have a good few years.
- 52:55Speaker 12: He's going to get hired as a head coach elsewhere.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Yeah, that's okay, that's okay because now we the groundwork.
- 53:00Speaker 5: Yeah, you have to know they didn't lay the groundwork
- 53:02Speaker 5: in Buffalo.
- 53:03Speaker 7: Well.
- 53:03Speaker 1: One of the things that Bill did really well here
- 53:06Speaker 1: up until the end when the brain drained just was
- 53:09Speaker 1: too much. But he always nurtured young guys in the
- 53:14Speaker 1: system so that he had Ben's strength when coaches left.
- 53:17Speaker 1: You know, he was always pretty much able to replace
- 53:20Speaker 1: a lot of these guys from within, like I you know, and.
- 53:23Speaker 3: You have to do that Charlie to Josh, to Bill O'Brien.
- 53:26Speaker 1: They brought in from outside and he didn't get the
- 53:28Speaker 1: job right away.
- 53:29Speaker 4: But yeah, I would just say, like, if Mahomes entered
- 53:33Speaker 4: the league with what he has right now, I don't
- 53:39Speaker 4: know what we think. But Mahomes got to come into
- 53:41Speaker 4: the league and he had Tyreek Hill and he had
- 53:44Speaker 4: Travis Kelcey at the height of their powers and he
- 53:47Speaker 4: was great. So now, yeah, people are like, what's wrong
- 53:50Speaker 4: with Mahomes and the Chiefs. They got shut out in
- 53:52Speaker 4: the second half three games in a row. But everybody
- 53:55Speaker 4: knows Mahomes is great, and I would say the same
- 53:57Speaker 4: to a lesser extent with Josh Allen. Yeah, their offense
- 54:01Speaker 4: hasn't looked as good. He's still leading the league in touchdowns.
- 54:03Speaker 5: People don't but he also leaves the league and turnovers correct.
- 54:06Speaker 4: I know sometimes Hill Mary's on the last player of
- 54:09Speaker 4: the half and he gets picked off. I know these
- 54:11Speaker 4: are the kinds of things that get lost on some
- 54:14Speaker 4: Ben Bollen can't who can't possibly analyze the game? Oh
- 54:18Speaker 4: that's four?
- 54:19Speaker 11: Four?
- 54:19Speaker 1: Okay, that's four.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Could you watch any of that game? By the way,
- 54:23Speaker 4: I'm curious. I want to run this by Evan too.
- 54:25Speaker 4: The Jets the Jets Bills game. Too much of it,
- 54:28Speaker 4: so I would start, and I wrote this in my
- 54:31Speaker 4: notes that I posted this morning. A lot of the
- 54:34Speaker 4: improvement offense live for Buffalo was absolutely aided by the
- 54:38Speaker 4: ineptitude of the Jets offense. Fully would admit that, right
- 54:43Speaker 4: they set up some short fields or whatever. I saw
- 54:46Speaker 4: some passes and plays from the Bills offense that I
- 54:48Speaker 4: haven't seen with Ken Dorsey in the year and a half.
- 54:51Speaker 4: Like the little dump offs to the backs on fourth
- 54:53Speaker 4: and one, easy throw and catch. There's no way it's
- 54:56Speaker 4: like a Mahomes play from the super Bowl. Like if
- 54:59Speaker 4: you can can't defend that, you're screwed in an easy
- 55:03Speaker 4: little twenty five yard touchdown on a fourth and one
- 55:06Speaker 4: ken to us. He doesn't throw that, it's probably like
- 55:08Speaker 4: a seventeen yard dig route to Dix, you know, which,
- 55:11Speaker 4: you know, high degree of difficulty that I'm just going
- 55:15Speaker 4: to rely on Superman to make a play to Batman,
- 55:17Speaker 4: you know, And that's the only way we can succeed.
- 55:20Speaker 4: But again, if you thought that there was any difference
- 55:23Speaker 4: between Joe Brady, you weren't really paying attention Ben Vowen,
- 55:26Speaker 4: that's five. He was all over Twitter all weekend. I
- 55:30Speaker 4: couldn't Like, I couldn't. I couldn't stop seeing things that
- 55:33Speaker 4: I so passionately disagreed with.
- 55:36Speaker 7: I thinkth working here.
- 55:38Speaker 4: No, I actually do follow Ben Vohen follow. I do
- 55:43Speaker 4: like Ben vowing Maybe you muted outside of the business
- 55:46Speaker 4: maybe him.
- 55:47Speaker 1: No, you have to really be pretty terrible for me
- 55:50Speaker 1: to mute or block you. And I do.
- 55:52Speaker 4: And I like Ben a lot. And now I know
- 55:54Speaker 4: what's going to happen because I did this because I
- 55:56Speaker 4: was snarky Paul today. People will add him for me
- 55:58Speaker 4: and then you know whatever.
- 56:00Speaker 1: But I do like ben uh.
- 56:01Speaker 4: I just just I disagree with his football analysis from
- 56:04Speaker 4: the weekend. That's all. It's not like a personal thing.
- 56:07Speaker 4: They definitely will tell him. I thought that was a
- 56:10Speaker 4: good In other words, I thought that was a good start.
- 56:14Speaker 4: I'm not ready to tell you, hey, they just flipped
- 56:15Speaker 4: the switch in their back. They got like at the Chiefs,
- 56:19Speaker 4: at the Cowboys, at the Eagle. They have like a
- 56:21Speaker 4: really tough schedule. Chief.
- 56:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 56:23Speaker 5: They they made a lot more throws I thought in
- 56:25Speaker 5: the middle of the field that were taking advantage of
- 56:29Speaker 5: some of the space that that digs creates, which I
- 56:31Speaker 5: thought was better, like musing him more as like a
- 56:34Speaker 5: decoy sometimes instead of all the time.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Feed him. Well, he's gonna have to. He looked pretty
- 56:39Speaker 4: happy on Sunday, and I haven't seen him happy all season.
- 56:42Speaker 4: To your guy, he's been pouting all year.
- 56:45Speaker 5: And they're getting Shakira on on more of those like
- 56:47Speaker 5: what Cole Beasley was doing for them a couple of
- 56:49Speaker 5: years ago, like those little Edelman rats.
- 56:51Speaker 4: And things like that. They also called that a fluke.
- 56:53Speaker 4: The Shakir one the slant that he put into like
- 56:56Speaker 4: a male slot. Yeah, like called thanks for to call tim. Uh,
- 57:01Speaker 4: let's go to Eldred, North Carolina. What's up Aldred?
- 57:05Speaker 15: Hey? So let's how you doing tomorrow?
- 57:07Speaker 4: All right?
- 57:07Speaker 1: Hey?
- 57:07Speaker 13: Evan? Yes, sir, got a bone to pick with your booh.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah.
- 57:19Speaker 15: What I watched Michael Pennick. Yes, Saturday in the rain
- 57:25Speaker 15: against Arizona State, and he was putting the dimes right
- 57:29Speaker 15: before it was coming right in the guys and they
- 57:32Speaker 15: was dropping the rain, but they came back at one May.
- 57:36Speaker 15: I see May every other weekend because I'm up here
- 57:39Speaker 15: at a CC. I'll take Pennics over May. And which
- 57:42Speaker 15: called him in? I did like George Travis, but my
- 57:44Speaker 15: boy got hurt and he's out for the year, so
- 57:47Speaker 15: his draft strap don't drop.
- 57:49Speaker 4: He's not as highly rated as the rest of those guys.
- 57:52Speaker 5: Michael Pennix, No, you're right. I mean Michael Pennix, as
- 57:55Speaker 5: I like to say, collects more dimes than any other
- 57:57Speaker 5: quarterback in this class.
- 57:58Speaker 4: As he likes to say, Fred Job.
- 58:01Speaker 5: You always say that Jobs always say drops more dimes
- 58:04Speaker 5: than any quarterback in the class. But have you looked
- 58:07Speaker 5: at Michael Pennix's injury history because it's not pretty.
- 58:09Speaker 4: I also didn't think he was great.
- 58:10Speaker 15: I know, I know, but but he's still moved. He
- 58:14Speaker 15: still moved a little bit after that, and he still
- 58:16Speaker 15: throw better. And like I said, they still rate five undefeated,
- 58:20Speaker 15: and he'd have played against some tough yeah petitions, I
- 58:22Speaker 15: don't think killed May.
- 58:24Speaker 4: Yeah. No, they have good wins. You are right about that, Eld.
- 58:27Speaker 4: They have good wins. But he also he has more
- 58:29Speaker 4: talent around him. But yeah, I don't.
- 58:31Speaker 5: I don't hate Michael Pennix by any stretch. The injury
- 58:35Speaker 5: history worries me. He's has he's blown out the same
- 58:37Speaker 5: a cl twice. He has shoulder injuries to both shoulders.
- 58:41Speaker 5: He's had four severe injuries in college. And he's twenty
- 58:44Speaker 5: four years going to be twenty four years old as
- 58:46Speaker 5: a rookie. Those things sire.
- 58:48Speaker 15: Not top first draft draft pick, round yeah.
- 58:51Speaker 4: First round. Yeah, most people have been in the first round.
- 58:54Speaker 4: I thought he was more of a back half of
- 58:55Speaker 4: the first round. But it looks like he's going to
- 58:57Speaker 4: be top ten like anybody else. Yeah, and uh, break
- 59:01Speaker 4: deep ball thrower.
- 59:03Speaker 15: There's a lot of wide receivers in this group. That
- 59:05Speaker 15: is the good. Besides, Marvin Harrison is the top.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Of the crap.
- 59:09Speaker 4: But the rest of them, I like the kids from Washington.
- 59:12Speaker 15: Washington, Johnny Johnny for from the state, and a.
- 59:17Speaker 4: Bunch of neighbors from l s u kem on the neighbors,
- 59:21Speaker 4: I like Burton from Alabama.
- 59:23Speaker 7: My concern is, My concern isn't that the talent isn't there.
- 59:27Speaker 7: My concern is developing them, like either either choosing the
- 59:30Speaker 7: wrong one or like not being able.
- 59:32Speaker 4: To bring Fred's gonna die on that hill.
- 59:39Speaker 15: Bringing me in. Let him right, get rid of Brown.
- 59:43Speaker 15: He never did it. But y'all have a good one.
- 59:45Speaker 4: Thanks. Did you quit on Latin McConkie whateppen? Yeah, yeah,
- 59:50Speaker 4: you know McConkie's Actually.
- 59:55Speaker 5: Every time I see him pop up, Lad mcconakie is
- 59:58Speaker 5: like a legit probably like that's like a guy that's
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: gonna get drafted in the first two rounds.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: I'll tell you the weird like another million reasons why
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: I could never be in charge. That the weird things
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: that that I'm impressed by with Michael Pennix. Did you
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: watch any of that game? Yeah, so they got the
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: ball at the end. They're trying to grind out a
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: first down and how many times you see it?
- 1:00:18Speaker 11: True?
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: It was like third and seven, you know, pouring rain
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: and just throw it. It was a rifle shot. No,
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: he's got a good arm and like that to me
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: tells me all I need to know about their coaching
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: staff and their faith and their guy that they're going
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: to put it on his shoulders to win this game.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: And then he came through and did it like nothing
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: Fluky wasn't like we we tricked the defense and got
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: a wide open play. They win a traditional and third
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: and long play that you would run in the middle
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: of the second quarter with the game on the line.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: Got it, boom.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: If you're if you want to build like a vertical
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: passing offense like they have at Washington, then Pennix is
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: the is the best vertical passer in the class.
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: I thought that was his best throw of that game.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Mark can't what's up? Mark?
- 1:01:02Speaker 13: Hey, guys, how's a going?
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: So? Uh?
- 1:01:06Speaker 16: I had a question for you guys. Yes, have you
- 1:01:10Speaker 16: guys had enough of listening to Bill Belichick during his
- 1:01:12Speaker 16: media conferences on how we treat you guys? Because I
- 1:01:17Speaker 16: would don't take it. And then the other thing is
- 1:01:19Speaker 16: is that you got pick number three. Are we going
- 1:01:22Speaker 16: with Marvin Harrison or are we going quarterback?
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Tackle?
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: It's a tackle pick for.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Me, right I'll come across the table right now.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: I'm going to play this all yeah, all five months.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: I'm going to be the tackle guy. You guys are
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: gonna hate.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: We can't we can't start.
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: Get which one the Penn State one of the Notre Dame.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Well, I gotta get back to you on that one.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Paul gets you the hand placement.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: Right now, I will ask you twenty fifth, I'll ask
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Evan which quarterback? I'll get you a tackle you want?
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: You want?
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: I'm going to corner the market.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: Don't you tell me what I want? Joe Waltz, just
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: so I can spell it. The other guy, what is it?
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: It's not that hard. Her name was Love.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Speaking of the draft at a Deal, writes in I
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: listened to the twenty twenty two first round draft show
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: recently and it makes for great comedy. Reaction to the
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: trade down Mark Daniel's tweet, this is a really deep draft,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: so I like the trade. Fred says I thought just
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: the first round was weak. Defending the overall quality of
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: the draft, who says I read the best place to
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: be was twenty to forty. Fred says, I think it's
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a great trade. Tamara says, I think it's a great
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: trade because my people are still there. Paul says, I
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: don't like it. I wanted McDuffie. Eric says hurump. My
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: biggest takeaway from listening to the Patriots are so bad.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Oh I was thinking this year. I was, oh, yeah,
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: who oh. You think maybe McDuffie instead of cold Strange
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: might have made some sense.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: No, my biggest takeaway from listening to the Patriots is
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: so bad that Fred has been completely beaten down. I
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: missed the over the top optimism from our leader.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: I know we need to get that back. Yeah, we
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: need to get I agree with that call.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I had optimism when it was warranted.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: Wait wait till they draft Killibilliams. He'll be back on,
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: you know, I'll be back on an actual quarterback that
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: can put points on the board.
- 1:03:08Speaker 7: Yeah, it's amazing. Like, just watching that game last night,
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: I was like, Wow, this is what it's like to
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: actually watch like NFL football, Like I feel like a
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: real offense, real offensive.
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: I watched some of the Gods yesterday. The God, the
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: God Shanahan and that offense the Niners are.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: Just it's a perfect passerating good.
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: It's just poetry, like, it's just the way that they
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: just create space in passing lanes and just conflict in
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: the defense. I mean, Deebo Samuel was there wasn't anybody
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: within twenty yards of him on that one big play,
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: and then that's probably the one guy on the field
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: that you're like making sure you know where he is
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: and he's still wide f open by twenty yards.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: Back to our original why it points down right, is
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: it the quarterback play whatever? So the quarterback had a
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: perfect passer rating, which arguably means he didn't make any
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: mistakes in the game. Evan just wax poetic for two
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: minutes about the concepts that they had and they scored
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: twenty seven points.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: Actually, I actually just think Perdy played that well in
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: the first half. I just think he ran different.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: I think they're making you go the long way, which
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: is shortening the game, and then you make a mistake
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: or two here or there, you get give up a pressure.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: Because I don't think the Niners offensive line has been
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: I've watched the Niners a few times, and I feel
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: like perty's been under a decent amount of rest. No,
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: he played the first half.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: He's was actually, I because when you see a guy
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: had a perfect passer rating, when you pull it up,
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: you expect the game to just be ridiculous. Right first half,
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: I thought Party was actually a little bit shaky. But
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: they make so many throws.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: That are just so it's so funny.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: It is because he it just he's just pressing buttons
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: on a controller, like I swear to God, like he's
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: got George Kittle under down, backed up on the goal
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: line and they just like bootleg it Party, and George
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Kittle is wide open, like for a little throw into
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: the flat and then he turns up people on the
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: twenty five yards.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: It's like a amount of kittle I could have thrown
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: right handed.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: It's like a good good throw, like I guess, like
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: good throw, Good job practice, good job boy.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: So Evan's gonna head out to practice. We'll get out first.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: Do not want you to return without a starting quarter.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Take note who's starting first, Evan.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: And keep track of the mood. Keep track of the mood.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: That mood.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: Gonna want that moved.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: It's cold. H Web Radio at Patries dot com is
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: the email address. Brandon writes in do you think because
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: quarterbacks know that their feet are an outlet, that they
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: are less reliant on letting plays develop or really studying
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: concepts or developing some of those intangible skills that or Peyton?
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: Probably at times some guys more than others.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: You know, I think that's something you try to.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: First thing, isn't there? I can use my feature, That's
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: what I've done all my life.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I think Big Ben, though much less mobile tour end,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: never relied on schemes or audible because he was so
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: big and would move around so much. Guys would get free.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: When you can't do that, you've got to be smart.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I remember Mahomes said he didn't start reading defenses until
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: his third year.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think I thought it was interesting Mahomes,
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: And I disagree with him, just like I disagree with Brady,
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: you know, talking about the number. Thing has been tougher
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: on defenses, the different numbers on number seven playing middle linebacker,
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: you know. Yeah, I just I don't really see why
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: it's that hard. You're identifying it before the play, just
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: like you always would. What's the difference if he's fifty
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: one or seven.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: Big a deep dive question.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Yes, quarterbacks, Yeah, you're probably right, you know, probably a
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: million things I don't. I'm not I need to know
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: if that's a DV or a linebacker, and I you know,
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: is he coming or going?
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Uh? Let's see Max from Santa Bid Max from Santa Barbara.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: First off, all this talk about Bill's got to go, well,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: who's better and who'll be sorry if for when it
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: doesn't work out as you have play? Second, why would
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: anyone take a quarterback out of USC? The university has
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: spoiled children? What quarterback from there has ever had a
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: decent career? I'd take Harrison Palmer or the best available
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: if he's gone. And I really like the kid from Azoo,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Brady Cook. He showed up and held his own against
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Georgia and such. Thanks for the forum. Been listening since
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: two thousand and two, way back when the show was
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: all email and King Tom would say you know why.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I would just argue and you know, well, when
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: Evan comes back, remind me to get into the Lincoln
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: Riley thing, because Lincoln Riley's had several Heisman Trophy winning
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: quarterbacks and they in general have not panned out. Interesting, Yeah,
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: so I'll just be curious to see if he thinks
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: there's any correlation there. I'm not a big fan of
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: the the school thing, especially when there's different coaches along
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: the way and there's differ different systems. If you want
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: to tell me Lincoln Riley's guys don't work, that to
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: me would hold some water.
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: I will say, like I had this thing for a
- 1:08:00Speaker 7: while with Ohio State and Alabama that their guys don't
- 1:08:03Speaker 7: work in the NFL. I mean, obviously outside of Jalen
- 1:08:06Speaker 7: Hurts and Tua out of Alabama, all those guys that
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: started their national championship like streak, none of them made
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: it but.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: Karen, But none of those guys were considered to be prospects.
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: That's the difference.
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: Like, like they were fine, they love their teams in
- 1:08:22Speaker 7: national championships, but the one.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: Was a prospect who didn't work out like the other.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: I mean the Tua and and Hurts were you know,
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: first and second round picks, and Mac was a first
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: round pick. McElroy. I think in McCarran, those guys were
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: like day three guys and practice squad fodder.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Like when I was in.
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: School, was it Barrett and rest in peace? I can't
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: remember his name.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: Right now, Dwayne Haskins.
- 1:08:48Speaker 7: Yes, it's like even Ohose State.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: It's like Ohio State. Is that's legit because they've had
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: They've had a lot of quarterbacks and most of them
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: have not really been very good, and now Stroud has
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: been excellent. I still think I watched I watched Chicago
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: and I'm still I'm still like intrigued by Fields. I
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: think this is a guy that I think if he
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: got to a team that better. I thought they call
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: plays great in that game for him. And did you
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: see the throw the DJ Moore in that game for
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: a touchdown? Climb the pocket? I mean, I think he
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: can play.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: With the Bears picks. I mean they're going to be
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: tempted to take a quarterback, right think?
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: So, well, yeah, I think that's all signs points taking
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: a quarterback. I hope they do. So Field gets to
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: go somewhere else.
- 1:09:32Speaker 7: Trade Fields.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing, like, what you know, I think
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: they'd be willing to trade him. What would you be
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: willing to give for him?
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: No? My question? Okay, so say if they take the quarterback,
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: they trade fields, would you take Fields and then take
- 1:09:48Speaker 7: Marvin Harris?
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: I would do that, So then you still get it
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: and there is way better quarterback.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: But then you also get and I might still draft
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: a guy like in the third or fourth.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: So what are we trading for Fields?
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I give them. I give them a second round pick
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: this year and a third round pick next year.
- 1:10:08Speaker 7: How would we give them that much? Okay, it might
- 1:10:10Speaker 7: not say, we can give you Mac and Taekwon and
- 1:10:13Speaker 7: we'll take Fields.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Yeah. I love trades.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: Take these guys with that aren't working out. For give
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: us something that Mike gets, a change of scenery trade,
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: you're going to get rid of Fields.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not going to give them my first this year,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: but they might be asking for that. But no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: there's no way you give I might give them.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: I don't know if they get a second.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I might give him what about second next year? Not
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: this year? Second and a third this year?
- 1:10:39Speaker 8: They would have about a conditional third that rises to
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: a second if he starts x amount.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Of No, no conditional pick is in the on the table.
- 1:10:47Speaker 7: Sure that would be Fields and your offensive another offensive?
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Right, yeah, but who's going to block I am?
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: I have to admit I'm not good at those projected trades.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: Like what guys are work? I always feel like guys
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: are never worth anywhere near as much as I think.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: I'm bad at money too.
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: Well, how much would you pay him?
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: I'm like a gajillion? I don't know.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Like see, I don't really I don't delve in gagillion.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: I don't delve into that because I don't say, like,
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: I only care if the guy can play.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: Oh, you guys good.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: I don't care how much money.
- 1:11:17Speaker 7: I remember.
- 1:11:17Speaker 8: I remember we were doing a thing and I would
- 1:11:19Speaker 8: just mentioned Anthonty Jennings and You're like, well, how much
- 1:11:20Speaker 8: did you pay him?
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: And I was like, I literally have no concept of
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: what money.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: I must have been having an out of body experience.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: I'll trust you.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:11:29Speaker 7: This is this is another good one. Do you think
- 1:11:31Speaker 7: they're gonna take a quarterback?
- 1:11:33Speaker 15: Uh?
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: They could be tempted as well.
- 1:11:35Speaker 7: And would you take Kyler? No?
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: Oh absolutely see you would blink.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't.
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: Now I'm not giving up like my first round pick
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: for Kyler Murray.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Yeah he's too small. I don't. I don't. I don't
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: want him. He's yeah, I mean, and he's not featuring
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: a little bit of Justin Fields. Could be my future.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: Not not Kyler Mkyler too small. Yeah so okay, likes
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Madden too much.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: I like to delve into these things. Kyler Murray, who's
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: actually had success in the league, is not the future.
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: Justin Fields, who I am still intrigued by but has
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: no success.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: It's a projection.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: It's a projection.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: That's my future.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: My projection.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: Feel for the quarterback.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: It's an odd view. It's an odd view even for you.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Do you see we're right at quarterbachelor, quarter.
- 1:12:24Speaker 7: Bachelor, that one quarterback if they somehow yeah, absolutely, even
- 1:12:31Speaker 7: though they just paid Daniel Jones.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Daniel.
- 1:12:36Speaker 7: I'm not even going to ask the question if you
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: were trade for him, because absolutely not.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Daniel Jones.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:12:40Speaker 7: If anyone did that, think you better if he was.
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: Dan Joe, where where are the Patriots picking?
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Sure?
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: I would so behind behind Chicago Cardinals, Giants.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Patriots if I can't, If I can't get a quarterback there,
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: so I'm out of the quarterback three or four, Okay,
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: I would trade for him. For Daniel Jones, I'm not
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: giving you again. I'm not giving you like a first.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I'll give you a six round pick. Flame.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Well, he's gonna cast you more than a six D
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: that I'm not.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 1:13:09Speaker 7: How about we just trad Jon Daniel, you take me.
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: But I wouldn't be opposed. I guess what I'm saying.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: It's it's not even about necessarily the individual. I wouldn't
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: be opposed to an established NFL starter while I wait
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: to figure out how I'm gonna get the guy won. Okay, Yeah,
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: so that's why Kyler Murray would make sense for me.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Kirk Cousins would have made sense for me, not not anymore.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: And I absolutely would take a roll of the dice
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: with Daniel.
- 1:13:37Speaker 8: I like your new guard thing though, like a new
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: a new member of the Journeyman quarterback club, not the
- 1:13:42Speaker 8: usual Baker Mayfield Kirk Cousins.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Not that I don't want Baker Mayfield because he can't
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: play the Kirk Cousins can. I I don't think Kirk
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: Cousins is great, but he can play Baker Bakele Baker
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: Bake and Mose six out of seven, Ben and Brooklyn.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: What I want from the remaining games is less about
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: rebuilding the winning culture, improving the draft pick or losing,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: but keeping it competitive until the end. I want information.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: The last couple of weeks, for instance, have removed doubts
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: I had earlier in the season about Remandre and Barmore.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: The games have also shown that Tavai has a nose
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: for the ball and can't be disregarded as a what
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: was Bill thinking player. Zeke has also shown flashes All
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: signs suggests that Mac needs a fresh start elsewhere Thornton
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: doesn't have it, and maybe Strange needs more reps. But
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: we need clarity one way or another. So I'm hoping
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: for definitive answers, nothing more.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: I don't know how definitive they can all be. I mean,
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: you'll get information.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: You haven't gotten a definitive answer. You're not getting a
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: definitive answer.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Like city.
- 1:14:41Speaker 8: Continue to see him develop it at guard. I think
- 1:14:43Speaker 8: that'll give them some options. You know, is Mafi going
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: to get back in there or is that kind of
- 1:14:47Speaker 8: ship has sailed?
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Where's the food.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: You guys, cause you know you guys have been patronizing
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: this place for for twenty straight years.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: I was thinking about trying a different place to Oh yeah,
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: maybe that's the problem. Did we do it a different place?
- 1:15:03Speaker 8: You think you guys would be like vip status every
- 1:15:06Speaker 8: Tuesday Wednesday Thursday.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Ron's in Orlando on the call on the phone. What's up, run,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Hey guys, how y'all doing Okay?
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: Hey Ron?
- 1:15:15Speaker 13: Hey, So I was watching I.
- 1:15:17Speaker 17: Was watching the podcast, obviously, and I just got like
- 1:15:20Speaker 17: magnified on something you guys are saying that I just wanted.
- 1:15:23Speaker 14: To get off my chest and just kind of talk about.
- 1:15:27Speaker 17: You know, I have family who still lives in Massachusetts
- 1:15:29Speaker 17: and in the New England area, and I swear so
- 1:15:32Speaker 17: much of the Brady took less money thing is the
- 1:15:35Speaker 17: funniest thing in the world to me. It's like, every
- 1:15:38Speaker 17: single time someone makes any kind of money, it's then
- 1:15:41Speaker 17: never gonna win a championship. And I just had to
- 1:15:44Speaker 17: like come on here and just bring it up because
- 1:15:46Speaker 17: I just think it's so so silly, just so silly.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Like one of the tenets of a good football team
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: is the quarterback must take less.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: No, I don't think he must. I just think he did,
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: and I think he set a ceiling within the locker room.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: No One's going to make more than Brady, and Brady's not,
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: you know, holding out for every last time. But now,
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: I do you think that was part of their success
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: in the early part of the dynasty when it mattered
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: because the salary cap, Like I didn't always think the
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: salary cap was meaningless. That's only like a more of
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: a twenty ten and on kind of thing once the
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: numbers got so big and so easily manipulated. But back
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: then Fred and I were lockstep, Like you have to
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: worry about how you're structuring your contracts because you can't
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: pay everybody.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:36Speaker 8: Yeah, And I'm just going to add to your point
- 1:16:37Speaker 8: where like, oh, by the way, you're going to compete
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: for a super Bowl every year, like you're at worst
- 1:16:41Speaker 8: probably just gonna be in the conference championship game.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: And that helped you get guys and you guarantee it. Yeah,
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: it helped get you got guys to stay, and it
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: helped attract guys.
- 1:16:50Speaker 8: Yep, older veterans like those wide receivers that just say, man,
- 1:16:54Speaker 8: what's it like to play with Brady?
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Like that guy there.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Yeah, some of them work, some of them didn't. But
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: you know, I think the fact that they had so
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: much success and had a program program established.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Jack and and Aba says in the climactic chariot race
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: of the epic movie Ben Hurt, how does the hero
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: win the race? Ben hur wins the Chariot Race because
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: he's driving the finest team of Arabian horses in the world.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: The lesson is that to win the race, you must
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: have the horses. The Patriots simply do not have the
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: horses to win the race in the NFL. From this
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: point on, all the Patriots energy should be focused on
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: acquiring the horses needed to compete.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: My dad had the record to Ben her and I
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: just remember that dirt, you know, when they're rowing the boat.
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: I don't think I ever saw Ben.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: What are you doing on Easter? Every year?
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: Quite a movie?
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: Avoiding that in the Ten Commandments?
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Quite a moment.
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: Did you see them on TV? They go on for
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: talk about epics?
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: Yeah, they were like four hours, right, it was like
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: six records.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I think, how's your first round pick? Now, Belichick, Let's
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: go to Boston Cream. What's up Boston Cream?
- 1:18:11Speaker 14: Hey, guys, question for you?
- 1:18:13Speaker 15: Is this the biggest must lose game in Patriots since
- 1:18:17Speaker 15: nineteen ninety two?
- 1:18:19Speaker 16: Paul Week three gave us through Bloodstoke Let me know, Okay,
- 1:18:24Speaker 16: thanks for the call.
- 1:18:26Speaker 7: You guys are keep following Boston Cream on Twitter. It
- 1:18:29Speaker 7: is so funny.
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: What did he say?
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Is this the biggest must lose games since nineteen ninety two.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I mean, it's we're gonna be talking about this game.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: I feel like in April when we're doing those draft
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: shows and like, oh here we are.
- 1:18:40Speaker 8: I picked number three because the Giants are at number two,
- 1:18:44Speaker 8: because we couldn't figure out a way to lose to them.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: I think it's possible. I mean, literally shooting our show
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: on Monday, I picked the Giants to win.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: How did you feel about this, Freddy? Can you bring
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: yourself to that or no? I can.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: I'm not going to shed any tears if we lose,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: but I think you go out to.
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: Win, but you're you're hoping to win the game, as
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: you know, doing the blog and doing all that.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I'd love to see the team play well and win
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: the game.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: You know, see some flashes from some guys.
- 1:19:11Speaker 8: I just I mean, we're not going to get into
- 1:19:13Speaker 8: it yet, but it's just like, the Giants played okay
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: last week.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: I haven't seen the Patriots.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: We don't even know who's starting a quarterback.
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: The Patriots played okay against Buffalo. Yeah, I mean, if
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: we're going to use like the one time theory.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: Yeah, no, three weeks ago.
- 1:19:25Speaker 8: So it's recentcy bias, but like I haven't seen, you know,
- 1:19:28Speaker 8: based on where these two teams auret right now, I
- 1:19:30Speaker 8: don't know how you can. I mean, it's a huge
- 1:19:32Speaker 8: leap of faith to pick the Patriots when you don't
- 1:19:34Speaker 8: know who's gonna be this quarterback. You haven't seen them
- 1:19:36Speaker 8: score a touchdown in two weeks or three weeks.
- 1:19:38Speaker 7: Now, I'm like scared that Mac is. If it is Mac,
- 1:19:42Speaker 7: he's gonna be too easy looking at Dexter Lawrence and
- 1:19:44Speaker 7: cave On Tippoteau coming after him.
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: But if I just I can't if they put Mac
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: back out there, I just I don't know.
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: I mean, I think it says more about Bailey Zappy
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: than than Mac, Like how bad to Bailly's app You
- 1:19:54Speaker 8: have to be in practice this week to not just
- 1:19:56Speaker 8: an opportunity for.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: A lookie lou.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Get a little part popular and Bill's ocular is that
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: your key's.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Game a little popular and Build's ocular.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: Ocular hearty ism if he comes in with a like
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: things to watch, things to watch popular in your ocular
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: Seventeen different ways to say it, Yeah, one more annoying
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: than the next.
- 1:20:18Speaker 18: This is true.
- 1:20:18Speaker 7: At this point, I think I just want to see
- 1:20:21Speaker 7: learn more about people that we haven't really seen that
- 1:20:24Speaker 7: much of Kaishawan Boody and Taekwon Thornton. I don't know
- 1:20:28Speaker 7: what you're waiting on, but like, we'd love to see them.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: Thornton them Why not?
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: I just love what do we have to lose?
- 1:20:34Speaker 8: Thornton out there every snap and just see if he can,
- 1:20:36Speaker 8: if you can get anything out until he snaps.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: In a good way or bad way.
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: Eve, Like this is so different than anything he ever
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: did twenty years.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: I don't even know who I know. I'm angry Alex
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: and Burlington. I'm with you all that Jared Jared Gid
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Mayo is the head coach next year. That said, I'm
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: not sure who will be the offensive coordinator. I agree
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: with Evan that changing the OC and head coach and
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: going for a full rebuild may be too risky to start,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: so McDaniels could step in as a safe option. But
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: what intrigues me is that if Mayo is the head coach,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I think he'll bring back actual titles to the coaching
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: staff and name a defensive coordinator. I would love to
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: see DeMarcus Comington in that role. Nothing against Steve, but
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: I feel like he's more suited studying and cooking up
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: a game plan.
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: It's not going to be Steve than.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Being a leader. However, I remember Mayo saying Dante high
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Tower would be a phenomenal coach. What are your thoughts
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: if high Tower joined the coaching staff down the road? Yeah, sure,
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: you have to pay his dues.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: You're not gonna bring no idea about a guy who's
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: not a coach. But if if Bill coaches somewhere, he's
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: gonna have his kids with him, right, I would. Now,
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: if Bill doesn't coach, then maybe Steve Belichick is the
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: defensive coordinator, I would think.
- 1:21:50Speaker 8: But I think it's also a complicated thing. If Bill
- 1:21:52Speaker 8: were to go to another team. And you know, like
- 1:21:54Speaker 8: I said last those guys got young families. They've only
- 1:21:57Speaker 8: grown up around here, like they pretty much just knowing
- 1:22:00Speaker 8: what is the life. Though no I know a coach,
- 1:22:02Speaker 8: you know, well then they and they've had a you know,
- 1:22:04Speaker 8: a charm life as far as like they've walked right
- 1:22:06Speaker 8: into it.
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: They've they've you know, read thank God, your food's here.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Things are complicated. If Red was really wordable, Paul, get
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: this food.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Okay, food is here, Paul, you can't eat mine? Today.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: All right, all right, we'll be right back after we eat.

- 1:23:06Speaker 6: What's up, everybody? Bill Belichick spoke with the media this morning.
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: Let's have a listen to what he had to say.
- 1:23:11Speaker 20: All right, everybody to recover from the bye weekend. Yes, good, uh,
- 1:23:18Speaker 20: you know, good opportunity for uh, you know, for everybody
- 1:23:20Speaker 20: to you know, take a deep breath here and excited
- 1:23:26Speaker 20: to get back out on the field. Get ready to
- 1:23:27Speaker 20: go here, you know, have a good have a good
- 1:23:29Speaker 20: week at ras of the Giants. You know, it's a
- 1:23:33Speaker 20: good uh, you know, good look at the Giants. You know,
- 1:23:38Speaker 20: we saw him in their first game last year in
- 1:23:41Speaker 20: preseason and now we're you know, kind of two years in.
- 1:23:45Speaker 20: You know, you can see the stamp that uh, you know,
- 1:23:47Speaker 20: coach stables put on the team and in all three
- 1:23:50Speaker 20: areas and offense, defense, special teams. So definitely have a
- 1:23:56Speaker 20: you know, good group of quality players. You know, some
- 1:23:58Speaker 20: guys you really got to that are tough to deal with,
- 1:24:03Speaker 20: certainly Lawrence on defense and it's one of the top
- 1:24:06Speaker 20: top guys we'll see dipide. Oh, safeties are Kenyan Pinnick
- 1:24:11Speaker 20: are playing well, aggressive play style that they have, you know, offensively,
- 1:24:16Speaker 20: obviously Barkley, you know, it's a major force go to
- 1:24:21Speaker 20: guy for him.
- 1:24:23Speaker 18: You know, pretty good group of skilled players.
- 1:24:25Speaker 20: And and do a couple of unusual things in the
- 1:24:28Speaker 20: punting game they're left to deal with in terms of
- 1:24:31Speaker 20: formations a little different than what we normally see.
- 1:24:35Speaker 18: But you know, good, good, solid group.
- 1:24:38Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:24:39Speaker 20: Overall, I think the way they played against Washington is
- 1:24:43Speaker 20: kind of the way that they are successful. Playing good defense,
- 1:24:46Speaker 20: turn the ball over, you know, hit a few key
- 1:24:49Speaker 20: plays offensively, you know, wheel route to Barkley, you know,
- 1:24:57Speaker 20: slate and short yardist, play action pass us. You know,
- 1:25:01Speaker 20: Brian's a really good play caller, does a good job
- 1:25:03Speaker 20: keeping us off balance. You know, we saw that certainly
- 1:25:06Speaker 20: in multiple games against them in Buffalo. So we'll have
- 1:25:10Speaker 20: to really, you know, do a good job there with
- 1:25:13Speaker 20: just being disciplined and you know, following following our rules
- 1:25:17Speaker 20: and you know, being ready for kind of the unexpected
- 1:25:21Speaker 20: from anything from no huddle to you know, gadget plays
- 1:25:25Speaker 20: to you know, just their normal conventional game planning. They're
- 1:25:30Speaker 20: good game planning team built on offensive defense.
- 1:25:33Speaker 18: So yeah, it get started on them today, man, Yeah,
- 1:25:38Speaker 18: be rady to roll, have a good week.
- 1:25:40Speaker 20: The has a decision been made on a stogging quarterback
- 1:25:42Speaker 20: to this weekend. H I've told all the players the
- 1:25:45Speaker 20: same thing, be ready to go, so hopefully they will be.
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: Have you made decided most higher what ha or cobbys.
- 1:25:53Speaker 18: You've told everybody to be ready to go?
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: You have a disag difference m where you tell them
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: them when they're dying.
- 1:25:58Speaker 18: In decisions what a different thing? Well, let you know
- 1:26:01Speaker 18: on Sunday.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: That's really good.
- 1:26:06Speaker 11: M uh it that was lit O'Brien saidsty to little
- 1:26:14Speaker 11: agree with. Uh got into reaps with the first and offense.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:26:18Speaker 11: Was that the first time that that's happened this season?
- 1:26:20Speaker 11: And how do you went to those opportunities?
- 1:26:24Speaker 20: Well, last week we had an opportunity to kind of
- 1:26:26Speaker 20: give the guys that didn't play as much more opportunity
- 1:26:30Speaker 20: to run more of our stuff and less stuff off
- 1:26:31Speaker 20: cards and scout team things. So that was you know,
- 1:26:34Speaker 20: pretty much shoot for everybody across the board. You know,
- 1:26:37Speaker 20: we just ran We didn't work on any scout team plays.
- 1:26:40Speaker 20: We just ran our plays, so everybody got to run
- 1:26:43Speaker 20: what we ran. So you know, you know, we had
- 1:26:46Speaker 20: some guys that were out there, some guys weren't out there.
- 1:26:51Speaker 20: Wasn't a a lot of the guys had played, have
- 1:26:54Speaker 20: played a lot, didn't practice as much?
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: What with the und started to do? Like, how do
- 1:27:00Speaker 7: you feel if there is a possibility where you come
- 1:27:02Speaker 7: in to have.
- 1:27:02Speaker 20: A player shot at by I told every player to
- 1:27:04Speaker 20: be ready to play, so see things go go from there.
- 1:27:10Speaker 11: But whe wherever does start at quarterback on Sunday.
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: Wouldn't it be more advantageous to have them take the
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: bold be starting reps to prepare for the giants.
- 1:27:18Speaker 18: I want everybody to be prepared. How much of a challenge.
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: Would that be when you have you know, three maybe
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: four calls of the bats.
- 1:27:28Speaker 20: It's everybody's job and do the best they can to
- 1:27:30Speaker 20: be prepared. And we'll play a game on Thursday where
- 1:27:35Speaker 20: there'll be even less time than we have now.
- 1:27:37Speaker 10: So, hm S, have you given any thoughts to having
- 1:27:43Speaker 10: a few different players play quarterback on Sunday? The kind
- 1:27:45Speaker 10: of thing where you might sort of mix guys in
- 1:27:47Speaker 10: depending on on the situations.
- 1:27:49Speaker 18: Yeah, I've told all the players to be ready to go.
- 1:27:52Speaker 13: So what did it BacT?
- 1:27:56Speaker 18: How you guys get or don't go base?
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: You know, just.
- 1:27:59Speaker 18: Not knowing just thinks you way day.
- 1:28:04Speaker 20: Yeah, I think whoever we put in there will be
- 1:28:06Speaker 20: able to do what we ask 'em to do. Otherwise
- 1:28:08Speaker 20: we wouldn't ask him to do it.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: Abstractly speaking, when you would uh a hate which you generally.
- 1:28:15Speaker 11: Want the player, the offense, any entire teams you know
- 1:28:21Speaker 11: used to the started tapping to.
- 1:28:22Speaker 18: What you fay.
- 1:28:23Speaker 20: Yeah, everybody needs to be ready to go to time.
- 1:28:25Speaker 20: So that's where we are for today, Today's Tuesday. Go
- 1:28:31Speaker 20: out there, MM be prepared, be ready to take advantage
- 1:28:34Speaker 20: of their opportunities, and we'll go to Wednesday.
- 1:28:37Speaker 18: Is it okay?
- 1:28:40Speaker 10: But it's like Friday.
- 1:28:41Speaker 11: You want people apprised their decisions are all out.
- 1:28:44Speaker 20: In the one day at a time. Alright, today's Tuesday.
- 1:28:49Speaker 18: So is it a competition this week? Building?
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: Or guy started?
- 1:28:52Speaker 18: I told everybody to be ready to go, But will
- 1:28:55Speaker 18: your decision whatever that happens will.
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: Basically will be based on this week.
- 1:28:58Speaker 20: It'll be based on what I think is best for
- 1:29:00Speaker 20: the team. And I've told everybody to be ready to go.
- 1:29:04Speaker 20: Hopefully they will.
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: Are you guys still working without Adrian Plum?
- 1:29:11Speaker 18: Yes?
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: Just Trent here today, Trent or.
- 1:29:18Speaker 18: Everybody's here, Phili Branson? Uh, yesterday.
- 1:29:25Speaker 15: There are enough reps at quarter in practice for the
- 1:29:28Speaker 15: quarterbacks to have to compete for the starting job.
- 1:29:32Speaker 18: Do you agree with that? Look at the quarterback position.
- 1:29:40Speaker 20: You could run four times as many places as we
- 1:29:43Speaker 20: run and probably still not have as many rest as
- 1:29:46Speaker 20: they wanna have. So all quarterbacks taken go all day,
- 1:29:54Speaker 20: they can take a lot of snaps and they want to.
- 1:29:59Speaker 20: Going back to Tom and all the other quartersback backs
- 1:30:01Speaker 20: we've had, like they'll take as many snaps as we
- 1:30:03Speaker 20: can run.
- 1:30:06Speaker 18: I guess from a.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: Coaching perspective, you know, to see a large enough sample
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: in practice if you.
- 1:30:10Speaker 19: Were picking between multiple options, could you afford those quarterbacks
- 1:30:14Speaker 19: up reps to make.
- 1:30:15Speaker 18: Everybody needs to be ready to go.
- 1:30:16Speaker 20: So what happened in the Dallas game, you know Jones
- 1:30:20Speaker 20: went out, the Viato came in. That could happen on
- 1:30:23Speaker 20: the first play of the game, could happen on the
- 1:30:25Speaker 20: middle of the game. Like, everybody needs to be ready
- 1:30:27Speaker 20: to go. That's our job right now. It's a part
- 1:30:29Speaker 20: of the teams per play on Sunday. That's all of them,
- 1:30:33Speaker 20: not one of them, not two of them, but all
- 1:30:35Speaker 20: the guys, and then the guys who were active. Then
- 1:30:38Speaker 20: when they get a chance to play, then hopefully they'll
- 1:30:41Speaker 20: play well, I won't coach.
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: Well, what are something?
- 1:30:47Speaker 18: Well?
- 1:30:47Speaker 20: So he came in in the you know, in the
- 1:30:49Speaker 20: Dallas game, you know when Jones got hurt. So what
- 1:30:52Speaker 20: was that in the middle of the second quarter or
- 1:30:54Speaker 20: something like that. You know, made some good decisions, made
- 1:30:58Speaker 20: some big plays for him. Just a little bit of
- 1:31:01Speaker 20: a lack of experience, but he seems to be pretty
- 1:31:06Speaker 20: football savvy. Streets marks, made some key players on third
- 1:31:09Speaker 20: down in the right area, and you done a pretty
- 1:31:12Speaker 20: good job taking care of the.
- 1:31:13Speaker 18: Ball in the fund available for I don't know. We
- 1:31:23Speaker 18: started practicing last week, so he is eligible.
- 1:31:28Speaker 21: So it goes when someone accidentally threw away the school
- 1:31:31Speaker 21: play costumes, Oh no, replacements were shipped with FedEx and
- 1:31:36Speaker 21: with picture proof of delivery, everyone could focus on the
- 1:31:39Speaker 21: perfect opening night FedEx where now it's next for residential
- 1:31:43Speaker 21: delivery only.
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: History, Speed writes in he says dolphins are horrible creatures.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: The male box tracks engage in multi day gang rapes
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: and brutally kill maybe porpoises, and even commit in fantaside
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: against their own young Everyone who opposes such behaviors rooting
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: for the Patriots This Sunday.
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: Well, I don't oppose that, dude. I loved I love
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: this one. We get we get this over. Ye. I
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: never knew any I never knew an. I never knew
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: any of it until I.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: Change the name.
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: I was thought dolphins were like these gentle creatures who
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: used to like it can be very vicious, steer like
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: humans out of danger when.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: You get this dolphin.
- 1:32:29Speaker 7: But teacher in sixth grade was actually assaulted swimming with.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Dolphins and was sexually assaulted by dolphin.
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: Wow, dolphins.
- 1:32:38Speaker 7: Sorry, Jess, if you're.
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: Listening, you know, like you get like the cans of
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: soda or beer for Paul, you know you have like
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: the the circles, right, I'm sorry, I just you know,
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: the plastic right like that?
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: They Yeah, So like you know you're supposed to for
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: the and I'm going to leave them closed now. So
- 1:32:59Speaker 4: they so one time and Jess was like what are
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: you doing? And I was like, oh, like for the dolphins.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: She was like, screwed the dolphins, like they're terrible. I
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: had no idea. The PFU almost called the PF W
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: on progress.
- 1:33:13Speaker 8: P you listeners, all right, I gotta remember this illustrated
- 1:33:15Speaker 8: that from twenty my wife huge dolphin fan, has a
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: not dolphins dolphin, has a dolphins tattoo.
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: Did dolphin research in college.
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: She's very dolphiny, and so I'm gonna have her tune
- 1:33:25Speaker 8: into this and and give her dolphin opinion.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:33:32Speaker 9: All Right.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Welcome back to Patriots Unfiltered. A five to five past
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: five hundred is the stick on hotline web radio at
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: Patriots dot com is the email address. And while we're
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: away at break, somebody came back.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: Tom Brady.
- 1:33:47Speaker 12: Has has.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: A right Evan. The floor is yours.
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: The Patriots serm back at practice post by week with
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: perfect attendance.
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: Yes perfect.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: That was the most snarky, sarcastic yes I've ever heard.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:34:14Speaker 5: So that means that Trent Brown was back at practice,
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: and as was time Montgomery back at practice.
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: We did have a brief.
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: Window into positional drills, brief window that we can discuss,
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: and there were some things that we saw. I don't
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: think I would necessarily glean much from it, Like I'm
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: not going to sit here and say that I definitively
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: know who's starting on Sunday now. But if you had
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: to guess, mac Jones and Bailey Zappi were alternating reps
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: in the positional drills that we saw.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: Like not series, but like one play one play.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: No, So it was so they did change it up
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: a little bit. It was like at first the first
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: round it was two throws for Mac, two throws for Zappy.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: Then it was like fourth throws for Mac, three throws
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: form Zappi. Then you know, so they kept on playing
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: with the number of reps.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: But I would say that.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: They feel like they were running the same plays.
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: They were, so they were just running routes there was
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: It wasn't a full play gotcha. And I would say
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: that the slight lean would have been to Mac Jones
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: slight lean. He I think he maybe throw one or
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: two more throws and he was leading off that, you know,
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: he was the first guy up. But I would if
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: I had just to be frank with it, I would
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: say that it was alternating and they're really I wouldn't
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: necessarily say that there was any definitive favorite based off
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: of that.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Now they know everyone's watching, so obviously who knows what's
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: going to happen when the media is gone.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: We did get kicked out for a short period of time,
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: which they've been doing more this year. That's not new
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: for this week that's been happening a little bit more
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: so that I would assume would have been during the.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: Celebration of the starting quarterbacks. It was like the lion
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: came right.
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: Probably more like a walk through situation where that or
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: where where the court the starting quarterback was probably taking
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: the first team rep in the walkthrough. They didn't want
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: to seeing that, but I think I thought it was interesting.
- 1:36:12Speaker 5: Not I Again, I wouldn't pick aside in terms of
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: what I saw in terms of Mac and Bailey zappy,
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: but it was a two horse race like this. There
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: was no Will Greer, there was no Malee Cunningham. It
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: was two guys taking reps and making throws and it
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: was Zappy.
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: And it was just two guys making reps, making throws,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: trying to win a football game. It's fun.
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: Anybody have any thoughts, is it?
- 1:36:35Speaker 11: No?
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: I don't either, No, I one thought I did have those.
- 1:36:39Speaker 8: Is just I feel like Mac had always really kind
- 1:36:41Speaker 8: of had to compete for his job a lot until
- 1:36:43Speaker 8: last year, and these last two years he really hasn't
- 1:36:45Speaker 8: had that, And I just I wonder if that's part
- 1:36:47Speaker 8: of not getting the most out of Mac like when
- 1:36:50Speaker 8: Evan Evan's earlier point of you know, nurturing a quarterback,
- 1:36:52Speaker 8: trying to do the best, like you know, Mike might
- 1:36:55Speaker 8: have some competition brought brought more out of him.
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: Like last year was kind of like Brian and.
- 1:37:00Speaker 8: The drafted ZAPPI nobody thought he was gonna, you know,
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: really have any competition for that spot.
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: But I don't know, just the thought I had, okay, pads,
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: no pads, pads, pads, they were in pads.
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: And I would also say so it was a little
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: cold out and not you know, we're already panted enough
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: about the team. In the offense, the amount of drop
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: passes that I saw just throwing routes against air was
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: was kind of alarming, to the point where Veldscant was like,
- 1:37:31Speaker 5: you know, Kishon Booty had one just like like you know,
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: like like this like you just did Taekwon Thorton like
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: oven mits just like up like this dropped it.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it was from both quarterbacks.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: For all the quarterbacks they're just not doing well for
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: just let them play.
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: There was there had to have been like three or
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: four drops in like a ten throw sequence, and I
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: was you do not see that very often on an
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: NFL field, that guys are dropping like that.
- 1:38:01Speaker 8: I have a question, how do you think the offensive
- 1:38:03Speaker 8: line is going to shake out now that Trent's back?
- 1:38:06Speaker 8: Riley Reef is you know, potentially going to be activated.
- 1:38:09Speaker 8: You've been playing on when you at right tackle, You've
- 1:38:11Speaker 8: had some success there, but you're getting some depth back now.
- 1:38:14Speaker 8: And you have Connor McDermott too, who you know, really
- 1:38:17Speaker 8: was probably going to be the starting right tackle maybe
- 1:38:19Speaker 8: before he got hurt in Green Bay.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: So got some choices to make now.
- 1:38:23Speaker 8: I feel like, do you guys feel like they might
- 1:38:25Speaker 8: mix up that is cold strange potentially? Like do you
- 1:38:28Speaker 8: think maybe Riley Reef moves inside and takes cold Strange
- 1:38:30Speaker 8: as Jos?
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: I mean, this is probably impossible, But was McDermott moving
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: around because I had been told that he was not
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: looking good after the Germany game. Yeah, so he did
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: get he tweeked his knee.
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: I talked to him briefly in the locker room during
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: the bye week day last week, and he said that
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: he acknowledged that he tweeked his knee, but he's it
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: seemed like he was.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: He was fine.
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: But to your point, Mike, like Riley Reef when he
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: played it was against Saints, right, there's like twenty five naps,
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: but it was probably some of the best guard player
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: that they've had all season long.
- 1:39:04Speaker 4: And you put him in for so or do you
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: put him in for Strange?
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: I would put him in for Strange, but you all
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: know how I feel about cold Strange.
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: I just I mean, it's the same stuff with him,
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: Do you feel with the weather in the low forties
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: that the media was dressed appropriately grousing?
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: Yes?
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: And no.
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: Some people came out, you know, tough guys.
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: Not to name names, but you know, no, no one's
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: gonna act.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: You might as well go for six.
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: Woun practically coming out in quarter zips. And then like
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: they kicked us out for that initial little period they
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: didn't want us there, and and then we get to
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: go back and like you could see like, oh, I
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: thought I was only coming out here for like yeah,
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: So this brings up a.
- 1:39:51Speaker 7: Great question because I literally when I got back so
- 1:39:53Speaker 7: for the buy, I went home and it's like seventy
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: degrees got back here and it's freezing, and I'm like,
- 1:39:58Speaker 7: is it too soon to all out the park? And
- 1:40:00Speaker 7: I didn't want to be judged.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: So I brought a jacket.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: It was nineteen degrees last year.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: You can so it's not but I would say yesterday
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: and today was not too too warm. But jacket, if
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: you pull it out too soon, you can't. There's no adding, right,
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: Like that's like the final frontier, like if you new
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: England experience, right.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: So and I was like, if you pull out the
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: goose now then like there's no you can't get anything
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: warmer than that.
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: I just broke I just broke out the first jacket.
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: Like literally, this this weekend.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: I'm still in the vest. I'm still rocking the vest.
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: I don't want to believe that's so that's a big vest.
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: Now, that's just puffy down now and a half minute's
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: walking from your car to the office, Like you really
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: don't score.
- 1:40:46Speaker 8: Text that's you're you're okay to I say the same
- 1:40:50Speaker 8: thing to my poor wife who got dragged here from California,
- 1:40:53Speaker 8: is just do what you gotta do. Nobody like don't
- 1:40:54Speaker 8: be a hero, like just get warm, like you don't
- 1:40:57Speaker 8: have to walk around flexing when the shirt on.
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: I'm not one of David Andrews and buffalo.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Ed, writes in Hi guys, California Chapter Patriots fan from
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: mass I'm a hockey alumni from Northeastern. What's the uh
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: ed BANDA uh? Since my sister used to date plunk
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: It at Stanford. Nice? So maybe just a little bit
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: before your time?
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: Wait, wait before.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: So what's your take on the record straight? So what's
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: your take on bon Knicks? I know it's far fetched,
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: but how about stealing Riley from University of UH? I
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: can't say that in draft Caleb or.
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: Lincoln Riley and Caleb package deal. I think it's the
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: the direction that was.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: Going put a little bit of B in there, the
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: BIS in there.
- 1:41:50Speaker 5: Miss bow Knicks is an interesting player because he has
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: some legitimately awful film from.
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: I was gonna say Auburn inclusive.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Legitimately awful, like not draftable, but then he gets to
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: Oregon and now he's like a Heisman Trophy favorite.
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: You know, So which bow Knicks is the real bow Knicks?
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: Is what you're gonna have on your surface? I would say, yeah,
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: sec PAC twelve, big difference, but this year the Pac
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: twelve is really good. Yeah, and he's gotten batically since
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: the Pack twelve is no more after this year. Yeah,
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: he's got a lot of physical tools.
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: He can he can run, he's got a big arm,
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: but the he's not this like precision pocket passer that's
- 1:42:34Speaker 5: just gonna stand there and make throws all day long.
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: But he's gotten a lot better. But at Auburn he
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: looked like he was Jared's Todham. So it just which
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: one is it?
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: I don't I don't know.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Tough one, Kyle and Pembroke says he has a hypothetical.
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: It's week eighteen. Patriots are two and fourteen. If they lose,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: they secure the number one overall pick. The Jets are
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: playing for the last wildcard spot. However, Belichick announced that
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: after this season he's retiring and the Jets game will
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: be as last ever as a coach. As fans of
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: the team, in this situation, would you rather the team
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: lose to the Jets and secure the number one pick,
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: but have Belichick's last game and but have Belichick's last
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: game be a loss? Or would you want the Patriots
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: and Belichick to beat the Jets one last time to
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: eliminate them from playoff contention, but lose the number one.
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: Pick, lose the game, lose, lose, lose.
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: I'm gonna shock against win to keep the Jets out
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: of the playoffs. Rather, that's so wrong. I know, I
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: know ten years of.
- 1:43:39Speaker 11: That.
- 1:43:39Speaker 7: But also especially if Aaron Rodgers is back.
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: Yeah, but to me, you lose lose, I would need
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: a little loss anyway. Probably, I would need a little
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: more information, just because is it like one or two?
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: Like win, and it's two lose and its one, then
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: I'd rather win, because what.
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: If it's one or three?
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: That's a big different. I would still lose. No, you
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: would want to lose no matter what lose, No matter
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: what I lose. I now lose on Sunday.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: But then the question is, what do you do with
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: that first pick?
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: Caleb Williams, I don't think he has a question.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: I don't think we're gonna have to wait to lapel
- 1:44:14Speaker 4: twenty five. I'm just saying.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: Speed is back from open heart surgery, so he's recouping. Uh,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: glad you made it.
- 1:44:24Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: Intellectually I get rooting for a loss, and in a vacuum,
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: that's truly what I want. But it's really hard to
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: stomach watching and actively rooting for the team to lose
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: while the game is happening. Significant cognitive dissonance. Some people
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: respond to that inner conflict by becoming intense fans of
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: the tank process, maybe maybe tongue in cheek, but maybe sincerely.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: Others focus more energy on doing a blame pie, yelling
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: at each other on social media, et cetera. I'm more
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: or less just lingering in anticipation of disappointment week in
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: and week out, lacking much faith in the vision going forward,
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: but also wanted to see sparks of hope for the
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: future before glazing over and disassociating when the inevitable gratuitous
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: mistakes happen. How do you, guys deal with the inner
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: conflict of simultaneously wanting the Patriots to tank and to win.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: Maybe it's different working for the team than when you
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: were fans.
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: It is.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: He makes a good point about when you're watching the game.
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: Oh I root for them to win, all of a sudden,
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: now you want them to win. Oh yeah, absolutely, Yeah.
- 1:45:25Speaker 8: Well I would say that's how I enter the games.
- 1:45:28Speaker 8: And even like when we have locker room or press conferences,
- 1:45:31Speaker 8: those press conferences in Germany where you just see the
- 1:45:33Speaker 8: lighter side of the guys, bills likable and it's like, man,
- 1:45:37Speaker 8: I like these guys I hate and then but when
- 1:45:39Speaker 8: I get into the game and they start doing the
- 1:45:41Speaker 8: same stupid stuff that they do for the last three years,
- 1:45:44Speaker 8: I get mad and then I'm like, I don't.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: Want to see I can tell you Deuce was to
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: the point he was so angry at the Germany game
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: out you know. I don't mean to speak out of school, Mike,
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: but Mike is like as on board as you can be,
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: and you were pretty I don't want to say you
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: were rooting against them, because you weren't. No, it's just
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: you you were completely like ambivalent by the end of
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: that game, Like this is of course.
- 1:46:08Speaker 8: There's another element too of I have to write during
- 1:46:11Speaker 8: the game and I kind of get all my thoughts
- 1:46:13Speaker 8: in order, and you're like, are you really going to
- 1:46:16Speaker 8: just all of a sudden pull out this crazy upset
- 1:46:17Speaker 8: at the end and I have to change everything.
- 1:46:19Speaker 9: That's picial you said last minute when like said, like,
- 1:46:24Speaker 9: is it different when you were yes, because a lot
- 1:46:27Speaker 9: of the emotion gets taken out of it because it's
- 1:46:29Speaker 9: a job, and it is it is a little bit different.
- 1:46:31Speaker 8: But so much of it for me is just that
- 1:46:33Speaker 8: we've been seeing the same mistakes and I just find
- 1:46:35Speaker 8: that as somebody.
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: Who watches sports or has played sports, it's frustrating.
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: It's like you look up seventeen three, here we are again.
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: If they went out on Sunday, I think, and you know,
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: when you know, eight plays seventy five yards touchdown, three
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: and out, eight plays seventy five yards touchdown, I think
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: people would look at that and say, wow, this is
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: this is really nice, Like they're playing, well, this is
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: the Buffalo game, right yeah, And I think that you
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: can get on board with that. It's funny. Like my friends,
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: the one that were sort of advocating for a tackle,
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: they were at that game. You know, they're season ticket holders,
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: and they were like, this is awesome. And one of
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: them in particular said, it was really awesome right up
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: until he threw the touchdown pass with twelve seconds left.
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: He goes, it was a thoroughly entertaining game. I loved it.
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: The crowd was great the whole game. It was so
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: much fun. But in my mind I was like, we
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: don't want to win this game at the end.
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: I'm always like for the three hours that the game
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: is on, and we're usually lucky enough to be at
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: the game for the three hours that the game is
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: going on. I want them to win, like it, that's
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: just I can't help it, right, you just want them
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: to win. But before and after the game the tank
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: is on, baby like, and then when they lose and afterwards,
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: like we're flying back from Germany, I'm like, well, they
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: have the third pick in the draft now, and like
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: they're pretty good drafts, so you know, the tank thing
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: kind of right makes it?
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: Greg simply says, please start sappy, bench the other guy. Okay.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: Cameron from Ashville, North Carolina, what would be the point
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: of Mac coming back out as a starter? Evan said
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago that if Mac was sent
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: back out, that would be an indication of the team tanking.
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: Is that still the case?
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: I did not say that. I think if I did,
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: I didn't mean it.
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: I think I may have said it, okay, and I
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: kind of believe it.
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: It's I mean.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: Right now, is you know, like right?
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: But if you're really tanking, wouldn't you put the worst
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: guy in?
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: And mean, yes, that's why I think that's why. I
- 1:48:25Speaker 4: think that's an indication when you take your starting quarterback
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: out with less than two minutes left in a one
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: score game. You're telling everybody you don't think that your
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: starting quarterback has the best chance of scoring, and then
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: you don't play a game in two weeks and you
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: just roll him back out there. The other thing I
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: wonder about the motive.
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: So I remember a few weeks ago you were talking
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: to Bill O'Brien and this is I think after the
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: Saints game maybe, and someone asked him like, would Mac
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: benefit just from sitting just for a few weeks, is
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: like kind of a mental reset, And O'Brien and I
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: think Belichick asked a similar question. They both kind of
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: balked at it and said like, that doesn't really it's
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: the NFL.
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: Like, we don't do that. The Falcons just did that.
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: Yeah, the Falcons set Desmond Ridder for what I think
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: it was two games, started Taylor Heineke. Now they're coming
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: back off their bye week and Desmond Ridder is the
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: starter again, and they just did it because they felt
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: like they had to hit pause on Desmond Ridder for
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: a second and kind of reset him a little bit.
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: And I just wonder that maybe it is the only
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: ZAPPI for this game, or ZAPI for two games, and
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: eventually you do try to go back to Mac. But
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: I maybe there is some truth to that working Okay,
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: but just to what.
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: End do you go back to Mac?
- 1:49:37Speaker 8: I mean, this is a question I'm pondering myself of,
- 1:49:40Speaker 8: you know, why why go back to him? Do you think,
- 1:49:42Speaker 8: I mean, is there any chance that his career is
- 1:49:44Speaker 8: not is still going to continue on after this year?
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: No?
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: Yes, what I'm saying is I'm not necessarily saying that
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: Mac is done forever. I just don't understand how he
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: can play this week. Yeah, That's where I was getting.
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: You benched him three times in ten weeks, including again,
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: in my opinion, unprecedented, the two minute drill of a
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: four point game.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: And and did Bill did Bill kind of say something
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: that wasn't one hundred percent true today? He said something
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: you know, you know when when Mac got hurt in Dallas.
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: And came out No, no, no, no, no, he was talking.
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: He was talking about the Giants. I was that that
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: that game was actually the game before that, right, And
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: so he got hurt, Daniel Jones got hurt against the Raves, right.
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: So just some of the things that I hear him
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: say now, and I'm just like, is he either getting
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: old and he's just forgetting things or is he just
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: checked out?
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: Like which one is it?
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: But of both?
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: He's standing up there and he's like, well, DeVito came
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: in the middle of the Dallas came and I was like,
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: Divito started.
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: I was like, no, he did, and he started the
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Dallas and he said it twice so he didn't misspeak.
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: He said Dallas twice. These things are the one things
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: that make me want where where is his head at?
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: I'm like feel with Bill, Yeah, Jamie from Connecticut. With
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: all this talk of taking a quarterback third or fourth
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: in the draft, I take May. By the way, I
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: understand you should want the higher pick at this point,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: but I'm still hoping for the team to win every game.
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: I was wondering, what are your thoughts if, by some miracle,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: Max starting quarterback going forward, the offense clicks for the
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: last seven games and they win six of them. While
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: I do know they haven't shown that they can do that,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: but what if that does happen? What would you want
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: to do with Belichick and Mac for next year?
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: I'll defer.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: Just keep them and run it back.
- 1:51:38Speaker 5: I think to Mike's point, though, is there a chance
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: that like Mac has a career after this, and I
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: think there is and I think Gino Smith and a
- 1:51:48Speaker 5: little bit Baker Mayfield with Tampa Bay like are kind
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: of proving that are those guys ever going to be
- 1:51:53Speaker 5: super Bowl winning quarterbacks?
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: No, but they could.
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: They're keeping the seat warm for the time being in
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: there spots. And I just wonder for Mac if that
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: sort of thing, that if he gets put into the
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: right situation where he has DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: and JSN and he's got all these playmakers around him
- 1:52:12Speaker 5: and he's just playing football, I think that that could happen.
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: And maybe that's why you don't want to completely lose him,
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: is if that does.
- 1:52:20Speaker 8: Mean do you feel like there's any chances here? I
- 1:52:22Speaker 8: mean in any capacity even if he were to be
- 1:52:24Speaker 8: the veteran backup for a while, I don't.
- 1:52:27Speaker 7: I don't think he would love being the backup. I
- 1:52:29Speaker 7: think it would be very uncomfortable. So I feel like
- 1:52:32Speaker 7: he would do, like what Evan just said, if he
- 1:52:35Speaker 7: go and goes and bes like a game controller, like
- 1:52:38Speaker 7: how he describes Purty and just has the right pieces
- 1:52:41Speaker 7: around him.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: I do not like he doesn't like Jeff in Canada's
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: in the league. I have a bye week game for
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: you with corny category names. It's called ranking the GM Blunders.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: It's going to be tough, But which of these is
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: worse for each category? The first category tight ends with
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: sense John O Smith or Mikeasiki, which was worse?
- 1:53:03Speaker 8: Uh John new because I think we were sold as
- 1:53:06Speaker 8: as the contract and being a big Piecesiki was a
- 1:53:09Speaker 8: one good point one year.
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: Okay, I think I think Johno at least could block.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: But Mike Evan makes a good point about the contract
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: you paid him real.
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: Monchy way too wide receivers Harry or Thornton. Biggest blunder
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: Nikhil Harry.
- 1:53:22Speaker 5: Timing of it is well, yeah, that's the.
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: First rounder, but they're still both reaches.
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: Yeah that's a that's a dead heat to me. But yeah,
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: I think the repercussions of of Harry were worse.
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: You too old and slow, Snu or Juju?
- 1:53:39Speaker 5: Oh boy, I would say Juju is worse.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Sono was a desperation mid season trade
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: that they had.
- 1:53:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that that one had their right intentions
- 1:53:53Speaker 5: of adding a piece at that deadline, but it just
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: didn't work out.
- 1:53:56Speaker 4: Whereas Juju, you were relying on Juju. Yeah, they weren't
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: relying on Sonuda resurre ones.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: Ones that got away. Myers are Tony, I say Tony, Yeah, I.
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: Would say Myers, but Tony is a better player to.
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: Me that how they treat, how they handle Tony was
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: a domino effect for this offensive line and was still
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: dealing with it.
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: Jack Mason two is playing out of his mind for Houston.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: First round? Oh out of line?
- 1:54:27Speaker 11: Uh?
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: Cole Strange or Isaiah Win?
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: Oh Strange Isaiah Isaiah Win was far more productive.
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: Ye the QB palindrome problem? Cam or Mac? I?
- 1:54:43Speaker 8: Cam? I mean, I mean I think Mac was you know,
- 1:54:45Speaker 8: you got him about where he was supposed to go.
- 1:54:46Speaker 8: He was you needed a quarterback, like you know, Cam,
- 1:54:49Speaker 8: I think in retrospect we probably would have done paulse thing.
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: Like just see what happens with Steam and Mac fifteenth
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: pick of the draft. Right, that's yeah, you're hoping that
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: you're okay. Here go. It's like Red r back when
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: they got Larry Bird made a couple of these moves
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: and we're right back in there.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: Uh and finally second basket secondary that hoops secondary round thoughts,
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Rose Eye Dowling, Juwan Williams Duke Dawson, Cyrus Jones to
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Von Wilson or Jordan Richards.
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: It was worse out of all those.
- 1:55:22Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: Duke Dawson never played a snap for you. Yeah, all
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: those other guys I think at least played for you.
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: Not well, Jordan Richards might out of all their reaches,
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: might be their biggest all time reach. So that one
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: just as a draft and they came back.
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: In twenty nineteen. Wasn't he even back? He came back
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: for a little bit, remember that?
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: I remember him in the Eagles Super Bowl trying to cover.
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: He looked like he had shoulder pads underneath his shoulders,
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: the biggest shoulders, and not in a good way.
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: Good news, you all win because there are no wrong answers.
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: They're all blunders. Uh stack blunders call them.
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: That's hard to it's hard to really split the hairs
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: on some of those ones that are just really bad misses.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: Stefan from Trinidad and Tobago. Isn't Marvin Harrison Junior exactly
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: what we need? I've heard it said that Max struggles
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: are mostly due to lack of talent in the wide
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: receiver position.
- 1:56:14Speaker 4: And protection though and Mac and a lack of running
- 1:56:17Speaker 4: game and a lack of talent and changing coordinators.
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: And a lack of tools and not a good quarterback and.
- 1:56:23Speaker 4: The defense not being able to shut everybody out in
- 1:56:25Speaker 4: the special.
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: Team and three coordinators in three years.
- 1:56:27Speaker 4: I already said that.
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:56:33Speaker 12: Hey, guys, how are you doing all right? I just
- 1:56:36Speaker 12: want to say that mister Kersh and mister Paul did
- 1:56:38Speaker 12: a good job. I listened to Paul on the Six
- 1:56:41Speaker 12: Rings podcast, and damn he still has got Andy's number.
- 1:56:44Speaker 12: So it's pretty good, pretty.
- 1:56:46Speaker 15: Good to hear.
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: Now do you think that.
- 1:56:54Speaker 12: Do you think that Bill Belichick might be expected to
- 1:56:57Speaker 12: do more with less because of his contract? He said
- 1:57:01Speaker 12: he's the highest state coach anywhere. Is there an expectation like, look,
- 1:57:04Speaker 12: we're gonna get what.
- 1:57:05Speaker 14: You can and you got to make it worse.
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: I think there might be a little of that, Yeah,
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: I do.
- 1:57:09Speaker 8: I was wondering.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: Yep, I think I think that, Yep, that could be.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: That could be true. You know, I'm paying you.
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: You guys have to fill me in.
- 1:57:19Speaker 18: Sorry.
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: I if that's I understand the line of thinking. But
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: if that's the way that they're that's the truth, then
- 1:57:27Speaker 5: that is not a very good wave of well operating.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Well, you're focused on players, but what if it's also
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: extends to coaches, like you can't bring in high price coach?
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: Just in general, I just I think that that totally
