- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's the almost Famous podcast, and today we're going to
- 0:10Speaker 2: be doing a deep dive into maybe the craziest thing
- 0:15Speaker 2: to ever happen in Bachelor Nation. It was a story
- 0:19Speaker 2: that gripped us all full of twists, lies, pregnancy accusations,
- 0:26Speaker 2: with our former bachelor Clayton Eckerd at the center of it.
- 0:30Speaker 2: He's got a new podcast out today called Love Trapped,
- 0:34Speaker 2: Owens Versus Eckerd. Welcome back to the podcast, Clayton Eckerd.
- 0:41Speaker 3: So, Clayton, let's talk about this new podcast that you
- 0:43Speaker 3: have launching today. It's called Love Trapped, Owens Versus Eckerd,
- 0:46Speaker 3: and it's a part of a podcast that's already existed before, right,
- 0:52Speaker 3: Love Trapped.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I should know that.
- 0:55Speaker 5: I know that there's there were plans to potentially share
- 0:58Speaker 5: more stories.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Okay, just this one.
- 1:00Speaker 5: So my understanding is like this is a series, Well
- 1:03Speaker 5: could be a series, depending obviously on how well this
- 1:06Speaker 5: performs as a podcast itself, but of course, like there's
- 1:10Speaker 5: other people out there that have went through something similar.
- 1:13Speaker 5: So yeah, it's more like I believe it's going to
- 1:15Speaker 5: be like the first of potentially many.
- 1:17Speaker 3: That's what the trailers sounded like. It sounded like there
- 1:20Speaker 3: was going to be more stories to come. There's been
- 1:23Speaker 3: lots of podcasts about scandals like this, but I'm glad
- 1:27Speaker 3: you're doing one on your own. This was an insane saga,
- 1:30Speaker 3: and I always hate to have you relive it, but
- 1:34Speaker 3: you did relive it fully for this podcast. So can
- 1:36Speaker 3: you give our listeners who may not be up on
- 1:39Speaker 3: the story, a brief synopsis of what happened to you
- 1:41Speaker 3: over the past couple of years.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yes, So, long story short, I had an individual reach
- 1:47Speaker 5: out about a real estate transaction.
- 1:49Speaker 4: It was going to be my first deal.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I end up then engaging with this individual intimately,
- 1:58Speaker 5: and that then kind of convoluted everything. She then ended
- 2:03Speaker 5: up wanting to date start a relationship. I declined. Then
- 2:08Speaker 5: things got got weird. She started, you know, crying and
- 2:11Speaker 5: being emotional and then saying like that she eventually was
- 2:14Speaker 5: pregnant from our interaction. And so this whole then podcast
- 2:21Speaker 5: will go through really just everything that I had faced.
- 2:25Speaker 5: I mean, there's there's audio you know that that was
- 2:28Speaker 5: captured that hasn't been heard before. There's thousands, you know,
- 2:31Speaker 5: there's hundreds, probably hundreds of messages that you know what
- 2:34Speaker 5: we read in detail, and it's just meant to bring
- 2:37Speaker 5: people through like what was happening day by day, as
- 2:41Speaker 5: if somebody was experiencing this for themselves. So it's been interesting.
- 2:46Speaker 5: I've heard the episodes. Uh, and yeah it is. It
- 2:49Speaker 5: does pull you right back in when you start hearing
- 2:53Speaker 5: the text messages being read.
- 2:55Speaker 2: There's going to be so much of this interview with
- 2:57Speaker 2: you that I don't know how to phrase my question.
- 3:00Speaker 4: So I'm just.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Gonna say it and see you obviously are reliving it
- 3:05Speaker 2: through this podcast.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Can you go back?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Because I think it was a sensitive question to ask
- 3:12Speaker 2: when we were kind of talking with you while this
- 3:14Speaker 2: was like in going on, Like what was your mental
- 3:18Speaker 2: state as this was going on? I would imagine, And
- 3:21Speaker 2: I only asked this and maybe this will help I
- 3:24Speaker 2: ask it because if I was in your position, there'd
- 3:27Speaker 2: be the shock of wait what, and then there would
- 3:30Speaker 2: be almost the well, this isn't true, so there's no
- 3:33Speaker 2: way this is gonna like play out in her favor,
- 3:37Speaker 2: and then there'd be for me the fear of, oh
- 3:40Speaker 2: my gosh, she's actually making some headway here, and like
- 3:44Speaker 2: taking this a lot more serious that I thought, and
- 3:47Speaker 2: then it would be confusing, I guess, so maybe that
- 3:50Speaker 2: would be what I would imagine myself being in your
- 3:52Speaker 2: position thinking, But can you actually tell me what is
- 3:55Speaker 2: real and what happened with you?
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 3:57Speaker 5: No, I mean honestly, you've described I mean, the emotions
- 3:59Speaker 5: and pretty much like the stages that I went through.
- 4:03Speaker 4: At first.
- 4:03Speaker 5: It was just like complete utter shock that she was
- 4:06Speaker 5: even claiming that she was pregnant after you know, we
- 4:09Speaker 5: had hooked up and again we didn't have sex. I
- 4:12Speaker 5: talk about in detail. I mean, you can find it
- 4:14Speaker 5: online or on the podcast. You're going to hear exactly
- 4:17Speaker 5: how it went down, because I really had to clear
- 4:20Speaker 5: my name and so I was like, look, I'll share everything.
- 4:23Speaker 5: I'll share all the text messages, I'll walk you through,
- 4:25Speaker 5: play by play what happened.
- 4:26Speaker 4: That night, Clayton.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I just want to pause you right there for a second,
- 4:29Speaker 3: cause that's always been like the most interesting part of
- 4:33Speaker 3: the story. It's okay, there's so much interesting into the story,
- 4:36Speaker 3: but that's always been something that's been so interesting because
- 4:39Speaker 3: you've been so out of it that you guys, never
- 4:42Speaker 3: had sex, and she was saying that she conceived somehow
- 4:48Speaker 3: without that happening, which is like something that I had
- 4:51Speaker 3: nightmares of in college, being like did I sit on
- 4:54Speaker 3: a bed and a boy just jacked off off?
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:56Speaker 5: Well I someone was like yes, I mean and young
- 5:00Speaker 5: men like we're all like, oh my gosh, did it
- 5:02Speaker 5: like jump?
- 5:03Speaker 4: Can can it jump? Like we yeah, the things that
- 5:06Speaker 4: we jumped to.
- 5:07Speaker 5: But this was more based around the idea of trapping,
- 5:11Speaker 5: which is why it's the in the title.
- 5:12Speaker 4: So somebody that basically takes.
- 5:16Speaker 5: The fluid and then like inserts it and we talk
- 5:21Speaker 5: about that. So that was the concern was that that's that's
- 5:24Speaker 5: how what what had occurred?
- 5:27Speaker 3: How would she have gotten that?
- 5:29Speaker 4: Well, because we did engage sexually. Yeah, so did you
- 5:32Speaker 4: do holding in her hand?
- 5:34Speaker 3: No, in her mouth, holding in her mouth and spit
- 5:38Speaker 3: it out and put into a vial or just shove
- 5:41Speaker 3: it up?
- 5:41Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Yeah again, Google told me there was a chance, And
- 5:48Speaker 5: I'm like, I smile about it now obviously because I'm
- 5:50Speaker 5: in a place now where I'm on the other side
- 5:52Speaker 5: of like all of the emotions. And I do also
- 5:56Speaker 5: understand that's you know, people like you share too much,
- 5:58Speaker 5: But that's always been the case for me. I just
- 6:00Speaker 5: I'm like, look, I had to like this was the
- 6:02Speaker 5: only way that I felt I could get through this
- 6:05Speaker 5: was by being just completely transparent. I also feel that
- 6:08Speaker 5: when you do that, people are like, well, look if
- 6:10Speaker 5: he's going to say that, like, there's no way he's.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Making this up.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Yeah, Like this guy's going to talk about the good
- 6:14Speaker 5: and the bad, even just even this initial conversation.
- 6:16Speaker 4: It's like, give us a synopsis.
- 6:17Speaker 5: It's like, hey, I was an agent for somebody at
- 6:19Speaker 5: cross professional boundaries, and you know I shouldn't do that,
- 6:22Speaker 5: but I did, you know.
- 6:23Speaker 4: But that's the.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Whole thing that I've realized is like people will believe
- 6:26Speaker 5: you if you paint the whole picture, both.
- 6:28Speaker 4: The good and the bad. I wasn't a saint in
- 6:31Speaker 4: this scenario.
- 6:33Speaker 5: I was just a dude that you know, was going
- 6:34Speaker 5: through some stuff and across to person that was.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Kind of crazy.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I think again, I'm going to ask questions and they
- 6:42Speaker 2: might be inappropriate. I guess it's out of curiosity. What
- 6:46Speaker 2: made like that evening? Why did you not engage in intercourse?
- 6:52Speaker 2: And then also on the back end of that, how
- 6:55Speaker 2: thankful are you that you didn't because this whole thing
- 6:59Speaker 2: gets I mean, that's What gets crazy to me here
- 7:02Speaker 2: is she wasn't ever pregnant, right is it?
- 7:05Speaker 4: That's the truth.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yeah, But yet there was like even with her not
- 7:10Speaker 2: being pregnant, it still went as far as it did.
- 7:13Speaker 2: So say there was the intercourse, how much of this
- 7:16Speaker 2: court case would it change where you're like, yeah, we did,
- 7:18Speaker 2: but she's not pregnant.
- 7:20Speaker 4: I don't think. I don't really know. Like that's where
- 7:23Speaker 4: this whole thing gets wild.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Yeah, And they had found this out recently. There was
- 7:27Speaker 5: some documents released from like the criminal investigation, because she's
- 7:32Speaker 5: facing up to fifty seven years and like fourteen charges
- 7:35Speaker 5: currently and possibly more. I mean there's not just from you, yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 5: not just from me. No, So seven of them were mine,
- 7:41Speaker 5: but there's another seven from a previous individual, and then
- 7:45Speaker 5: there's potentially more on the way. But there was in
- 7:48Speaker 5: the document. There was there was multiple segments where it
- 7:52Speaker 5: stated that there was a man that she was engaging
- 7:54Speaker 5: with intimately before and after talking with me, and they
- 7:58Speaker 5: were having They implied that they were having intercourse, so
- 8:02Speaker 5: she was potentially trying to get pregnant, you know, and
- 8:05Speaker 5: then claim that it was mine. To answer your question,
- 8:07Speaker 5: why didn't we have you know, intercourse that night I
- 8:10Speaker 5: actually wanted to. She I think was shocked that I
- 8:12Speaker 5: invited her over, and then after we talked, I believe
- 8:15Speaker 5: that she thought, in her head, Okay, I actually could
- 8:18Speaker 5: potentially date this guy.
- 8:19Speaker 4: There seems to be chemistry here.
- 8:20Speaker 5: So she said, I don't want to do this yet,
- 8:22Speaker 5: you know, I want to hold off on this, thinking.
- 8:24Speaker 4: That we would have another time.
- 8:25Speaker 5: And then when I abruptly cut it the next day,
- 8:27Speaker 5: when I cut it off and said this was you know,
- 8:29Speaker 5: that was a one time thing, that's when then she
- 8:31Speaker 5: tried to get me to, you know, sleep with her.
- 8:34Speaker 5: She had said, hey, you know you can. I'm already pregnant.
- 8:39Speaker 5: This was, you know, eleven days or twelve days later.
- 8:41Speaker 5: She's like, I'm already pregnant. So I'm the safest person
- 8:42Speaker 5: that you could have sex with.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I'm already pregnant with your child. She's saying, yes, yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 4: oh goodness, courageous.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Okay, I mean, I know you've told us this before.
- 8:52Speaker 3: It's just still crazy every time.
- 8:53Speaker 2: No, I think it's different now because it's done, and
- 8:56Speaker 2: so it feels a little bit more like, Okay, we.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Can, like we can just talk about it because it's
- 9:01Speaker 5: lighter you know, but I do think again, like yeah,
- 9:04Speaker 5: I mean, look, people they can't believe how crazy crazy
- 9:08Speaker 5: can get obviously until like they hear the stories, until
- 9:11Speaker 5: they see the text messages. And that I think is
- 9:14Speaker 5: wherein people like you're going to be put into my
- 9:16Speaker 5: shoes and the shoes of the other victims, and you're
- 9:20Speaker 5: going to see, you know, obviously like what that would
- 9:22Speaker 5: be like to go through something like this. I mean again,
- 9:24Speaker 5: we have I don't know if I I don't know
- 9:26Speaker 5: how much I can say, you know, I never know
- 9:27Speaker 5: what this but like we have a voice actress I
- 9:29Speaker 5: go that literally reads these text messages, so like it's
- 9:32Speaker 5: a very immersive podcast. It's not like I sit and
- 9:35Speaker 5: talk to somebody and that's it. You know, there's like
- 9:37Speaker 5: background noise like walking down the street here, cars.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Hard walking.
- 9:41Speaker 5: It's storytelling. Yeah, it's storytelling. And so with the voice actors,
- 9:45Speaker 5: I've been blown away. I'm like, this is incredible.
- 9:47Speaker 4: You know.
- 9:47Speaker 3: If voice actress says something along the lines of all
- 9:50Speaker 3: I did wrong was get pregnant with the bats, so
- 9:53Speaker 3: that was.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Actually that was her voice because that was set on
- 9:56Speaker 5: a police body cam. So yeah, and that makes it
- 9:59Speaker 5: a parents Yeah, that was a pretty iconic line. But yeah, again,
- 10:03Speaker 5: like I, of course, it's it's just the whole thing
- 10:06Speaker 5: was crazy. It's been three years in the making, and
- 10:09Speaker 5: we're still obviously waiting on the court case, you know,
- 10:12Speaker 5: the final court case, which is crazy to think three
- 10:15Speaker 5: years and I thought this was a pretty straightforward shot.
- 10:17Speaker 5: But but you know, of course, then we talk about
- 10:20Speaker 5: how the court system, how it just moves at a
- 10:22Speaker 5: pace that we all wish was a little bit quicker.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Clayton, I remember the first time I met you was
- 10:39Speaker 2: we were out in like Napa and you It was
- 10:42Speaker 2: like a car full of people and you were kind
- 10:44Speaker 2: of I think you were fresh off the show, and yep,
- 10:47Speaker 2: you were asking questions as so many asks kind of
- 10:51Speaker 2: following up on the show is like what's life going
- 10:53Speaker 2: to be like? And all this stuff? And this afternoon,
- 10:57Speaker 2: actually I have a call with somebody who could potentially
- 11:00Speaker 2: I don't they haven't picked the next lead if there
- 11:03Speaker 2: is going to be a lead, but could potentially be
- 11:05Speaker 2: the next lead.
- 11:06Speaker 3: You.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I thought about this because I always try to think about, Hey,
- 11:09Speaker 2: what do I want to say to this guy? Knowing
- 11:11Speaker 2: who they are a little bit about them. This story
- 11:14Speaker 2: changes my narrative and when I speak to the next
- 11:18Speaker 2: person or anybody gets off the show in drastic ways.
- 11:23Speaker 4: If you would have came to me back then and
- 11:26Speaker 4: been like, do I have.
- 11:26Speaker 2: To worry about like girls, you know, like coming after
- 11:30Speaker 2: me and trying to take advance, like I would have
- 11:32Speaker 2: been like, I don't know that it happened to me,
- 11:35Speaker 2: But like you, she obviously knew who you were and
- 11:38Speaker 2: this got really scary. So that goes to my question, then, Clayton,
- 11:43Speaker 2: trust is such a big element of life for you,
- 11:46Speaker 2: obviously as you're dating. But then also and our team
- 11:50Speaker 2: at iHeart, I think is disgusted honestly right now with
- 11:54Speaker 2: so much of this story because they're like, Okay, women
- 11:59Speaker 2: already have a hard enough time coming out when there's
- 12:01Speaker 2: assault or when they're the victim of a tragic accident.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It's already hard enough for them to open up and
- 12:07Speaker 2: tell somebody because of the recourse that could happen and
- 12:11Speaker 2: the fears they have. And that makes sense, right, none
- 12:15Speaker 2: of us are oblivious to that fact. However, then you
- 12:18Speaker 2: have your story and you're like, she just set all
- 12:21Speaker 2: this back for so many reasons, or at least attempted
- 12:24Speaker 2: to set all this back for so many reasons. That's disgusting,
- 12:27Speaker 2: not only for what happened to you, but what happens
- 12:30Speaker 2: in the narrative of so many other women. Who are
- 12:35Speaker 2: you know, who could be a part of something where
- 12:37Speaker 2: they need to tell somebody, They need to open up
- 12:39Speaker 2: to somebody and be trusted. So, for somebody that's set
- 12:43Speaker 2: in your shoes, who's been intimately involved in this experience
- 12:46Speaker 2: at the very beginning, what is your take now understanding
- 12:51Speaker 2: just this disgustingness that she did to set so much
- 12:55Speaker 2: back for so many people.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, look, I think that the truth prevails,
- 13:02Speaker 5: and so again you have to understand, I'm just taking
- 13:05Speaker 5: this from my own situation. This is just my experience,
- 13:07Speaker 5: and I'm sure somebody could probably counter this, but I
- 13:11Speaker 5: ultimately feel that, like, if.
- 13:12Speaker 4: You're telling the truth, then you're fine. I don't. I
- 13:15Speaker 4: don't believe.
- 13:16Speaker 5: And somebody brings this to light and brings it to
- 13:18Speaker 5: my attention, then I'll be happy to say I'm wrong
- 13:20Speaker 5: on this, But I really don't believe that, Like a woman,
- 13:22Speaker 5: can you know, that's telling the truth can end up
- 13:24Speaker 5: getting hit with, you know, fifty seven years in prison if.
- 13:27Speaker 4: She's telling the truth. Like, I just don't.
- 13:30Speaker 5: You don't get to that point of facing, you know,
- 13:32Speaker 5: having the county attorney take the case over and then
- 13:35Speaker 5: you know, and punish you to this degree.
- 13:37Speaker 4: There's another here example.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Or a case that was taken where I think there's
- 13:41Speaker 5: a woman that's facing nine plus years or more for
- 13:44Speaker 5: doing something similar to a former MLB pitcher, but again
- 13:50Speaker 5: like she was extorting him and committing serious crimes and
- 13:53Speaker 5: was in the wrong. So I don't really I understood
- 13:58Speaker 5: that people were concerned, like, hey, she's making this and
- 14:01Speaker 5: moving it backwards and you know, now all suden people
- 14:03Speaker 5: aren't going to believe women.
- 14:04Speaker 4: But I don't. I don't believe that. I think that's
- 14:06Speaker 4: an extreme response.
- 14:08Speaker 5: I just truthfully believe that, Hey, look, whether it's men
- 14:11Speaker 5: versus women, it shouldn't be. It's just whoever it's there's
- 14:14Speaker 5: it's the victims versus perpetrators, and however they look, whatever
- 14:18Speaker 5: their gender is, that shouldn't matter at all. If you're
- 14:20Speaker 5: telling the truth, you're safe, you know, if you if
- 14:22Speaker 5: you're telling the truth, you're not going to end up
- 14:24Speaker 5: getting in trouble and being in a situation like Laura is.
- 14:28Speaker 4: That's my personal opinion.
- 14:29Speaker 5: So I don't think this would scare any woman away
- 14:32Speaker 5: from bringing this to light.
- 14:34Speaker 4: I don't think so at all. I hope not. I mean,
- 14:37Speaker 4: I hope not.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Right, these are one but in the scenario you're talking about,
- 14:41Speaker 2: like that picture lost his career because of this, right, oh.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah he And again I've I don't know a
- 14:47Speaker 4: lot about his story.
- 14:48Speaker 5: I mean there was apparently more going on, but yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 5: he got banished from the league. So it cost him
- 14:53Speaker 5: a lot of a lot of money, a lot of
- 14:56Speaker 5: his energy. And you know, I think here's the thing,
- 14:59Speaker 5: like we this, If this is going to be a
- 15:03Speaker 5: statement being made by the county attorney, then I think
- 15:05Speaker 5: she should make it. You know, the Rachel Mitchell is,
- 15:08Speaker 5: you know, there needs to be punishment for people that
- 15:10Speaker 5: are trying to destroy the livelihood of somebody else.
- 15:13Speaker 4: And I'm not this MLB picture, right, I don't. So,
- 15:15Speaker 4: I'm not. I didn't lose.
- 15:16Speaker 5: Millions of dollars. Have I lost brand deals and such? Yes,
- 15:20Speaker 5: I've lost a few that I can point to. Have
- 15:22Speaker 5: I lost potential other opportunities I'm not aware of, Yes,
- 15:24Speaker 5: I'm sure that being said, you know, it's like, yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 5: I mean there's there's an opportunity cost and then again,
- 15:30Speaker 5: what in return if you do this and you falsely
- 15:32Speaker 5: accuse somebody, you shouldn't just get a slap on the wrist.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Because if someone can get away with this, then it's
- 15:38Speaker 5: going to show other women or men, men and women
- 15:41Speaker 5: that like I can do this and make this whole
- 15:43Speaker 5: thing up and ruin this person's you know, mental state
- 15:46Speaker 5: and worst case scenario like I just got to go
- 15:49Speaker 5: to court and they're just going to dismiss it. So
- 15:51Speaker 5: to me like this, a lot of eyes are on this.
- 15:53Speaker 5: There's been a little bit of like a thought. There's
- 15:54Speaker 5: been a following community, and it's like we're all watching
- 15:58Speaker 5: and looking and saying like, all right now, County attorney,
- 16:00Speaker 5: it's your job to like make this, you know, a
- 16:03Speaker 5: statement so that people don't get you know, do this
- 16:05Speaker 5: going forward. Because if she walks free, serves no time,
- 16:09Speaker 5: and doesn't get any charges, it's I guarantee you this
- 16:12Speaker 5: will this one will lead to a man or a
- 16:15Speaker 5: woman to say, going, you know what, I'm going to
- 16:17Speaker 5: do this because like there's no repercussions.
- 16:19Speaker 4: When do you find out if she's going to be
- 16:21Speaker 4: charged or not?
- 16:22Speaker 5: Well, the trial, Yeah, I mean she's she has to
- 16:24Speaker 5: face a jury, So that's was that late July. I
- 16:28Speaker 5: think it's late July as far as the hearing, which
- 16:31Speaker 5: I'll go, I'll testify against her, and yeah, I mean
- 16:36Speaker 5: I think again, so like if she went, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 5: if she does get charged and she faces time, yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 5: somebody else might be like, it's not worth it.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I don't want to go through this.
- 16:44Speaker 5: You know, this guy might have pissed me off and
- 16:46Speaker 5: I'm mad and I don't like how he treated me
- 16:48Speaker 5: or whatever it might be. But I'm not going to
- 16:49Speaker 5: go try to ruin his life because I could potentially
- 16:51Speaker 5: ruin mine in return.
- 16:53Speaker 3: What a fun trial to be on.
- 16:55Speaker 4: This is a kind of jury I would want to
- 16:57Speaker 4: be called on.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Although I had my brothers comes or one of them
- 17:01Speaker 5: and my parents came to like the previous court and
- 17:04Speaker 5: afterwards he was just like, dude, that was super entertaining.
- 17:07Speaker 4: He's like, I thought this is going to be so boring.
- 17:09Speaker 5: He's like, it was like the things they were releasing
- 17:11Speaker 5: and the comments that were being said and the dramatics,
- 17:13Speaker 5: and I was like, yeah, I mean it's gotten out
- 17:15Speaker 5: of control. I mean, it's like trying not to make
- 17:17Speaker 5: it a clown show. But it's so ridiculous, right, So,
- 17:21Speaker 5: like the evidence is ridiculous. But you have someone that
- 17:24Speaker 5: I don't believe she actually believes what she's saying.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I think she just is.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Her belief is that I can lie my way all
- 17:29Speaker 5: the way to the finish line and then people are
- 17:31Speaker 5: going to go, well, there's no way someone get Like
- 17:34Speaker 5: she asked, she must believe this, And I've even had
- 17:36Speaker 5: that thought. I'm like, I've had that thought where I
- 17:38Speaker 5: was like, is she living in an altered reality? Because
- 17:41Speaker 5: like she is not giving on anything on any front,
- 17:44Speaker 5: she is not holding going all right, I screwed up there,
- 17:46Speaker 5: I'm sorry that was a lie. She hasn't said it,
- 17:48Speaker 5: like admitted to one lie. So you start to wonder, like,
- 17:51Speaker 5: is she clinically insane? I mean, she will go out there?
- 17:56Speaker 4: Have you ever started thinking you might be too?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Like only I've only asked that because I love what
- 18:02Speaker 2: you said, Clayton, where the truth prevails, Like I love
- 18:06Speaker 2: what you say there, Like, I mean, I believe that
- 18:09Speaker 2: to be true. I think it is one of the
- 18:12Speaker 2: foundations of how we can function as a species. Is
- 18:15Speaker 2: if the truth prevails, then hey, things work out. But
- 18:19Speaker 2: I only ask like you had to at some point
- 18:22Speaker 2: be like I think, like, oh my gosh, do I
- 18:25Speaker 2: not remember something? Or am I going crazy? Or was
- 18:30Speaker 2: there ever a moment where you thought maybe the truth
- 18:32Speaker 2: wouldn't prevail here where you're like, I might, I might
- 18:36Speaker 2: have to like live in a reality where noe she wins,
- 18:40Speaker 2: and I made it look like a fool, even though
- 18:43Speaker 2: I know that I'm.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Telling the truth.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Not so much like again, the reality was either she
- 18:48Speaker 5: was pregnant with my child or she wasn't right. So
- 18:51Speaker 5: so there was obviously fear early on of did she
- 18:55Speaker 5: successfully trap me? And if she did, then like that
- 18:57Speaker 5: child does exist and it will be mine and I
- 19:00Speaker 5: will have to co parent with this individual.
- 19:03Speaker 4: And we had these conversations.
- 19:04Speaker 5: At one point, I was like, you know, I'm not
- 19:05Speaker 5: going to raise this child with you, like either I'm
- 19:07Speaker 5: taking full custody or you are, but I will never,
- 19:09Speaker 5: in any capacity ever co parent with you.
- 19:12Speaker 4: You will drive me insane.
- 19:13Speaker 5: And so that conversation was had at one point because
- 19:16Speaker 5: it was like, well, if you did trap me, regardless,
- 19:18Speaker 5: I have a child now and so I have to,
- 19:21Speaker 5: you know, step up, but we're not going to co parent, right,
- 19:23Speaker 5: So there was fear associated with that, and there certainly
- 19:27Speaker 5: was me questioning is this real or is this not?
- 19:29Speaker 5: Like can I actually believe what she's saying? But once
- 19:32Speaker 5: she went public, like I wasn't concerned that I was
- 19:35Speaker 5: going to lose the narrative because it just really came
- 19:37Speaker 5: down to I when this went public, I said, guys,
- 19:41Speaker 5: I am scheduling a paternity test, and she will schedule hers.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I never came out and said she's not pregnant, like
- 19:46Speaker 4: it's all fake it, it's all made up.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I'm like, look, I'm not willing to throw all my
- 19:50Speaker 5: chips on black, So I'm going to say, guys, I'm
- 19:52Speaker 5: going to go to a paternity test, and she's she's
- 19:54Speaker 5: going to do her part. And then whenever the first
- 19:57Speaker 5: test came back little you know, to no fetal DNA,
- 19:59Speaker 5: it was incoclue, which they couldn't write a report on,
- 20:02Speaker 5: That's when I threw my chips on black. That's when
- 20:04Speaker 5: I went online and I posted this video and it
- 20:06Speaker 5: was like test came back and I was insinuating that
- 20:09Speaker 5: it was all made up, but I couldn't technically say
- 20:12Speaker 5: that for legality purposes, so I had to say it
- 20:15Speaker 5: exactly as the test came back. But that was the
- 20:17Speaker 5: point at which it was like, well, if for whatever reason,
- 20:19Speaker 5: that test results were messed up, as she said, she
- 20:21Speaker 5: said there was probably an issue with transport and the.
- 20:25Speaker 4: DNA wasn't viable.
- 20:26Speaker 5: If she had to take another test and it would
- 20:28Speaker 5: have come back positive, I mean, yeah, I would have
- 20:29Speaker 5: destroyed my reputation because I was like, at that point,
- 20:31Speaker 5: you just told everyone that it was fake. But that
- 20:33Speaker 5: was the point at which I finally was like, I
- 20:36Speaker 5: can come forward with this and you know, and I'm
- 20:38Speaker 5: going to win this narrative because.
- 20:39Speaker 4: The truth prevails.
- 20:40Speaker 5: The only thing that bothered me was there was more
- 20:42Speaker 5: initial press for the scandal than there was for.
- 20:46Speaker 4: When the truth came out.
- 20:48Speaker 5: That's what bothered me, because it was like the damage
- 20:51Speaker 5: was done because so many people covered the initial story
- 20:55Speaker 5: and probably seventy percent covered the aftermath, and so it
- 20:59Speaker 5: was like, guys will all like, I want to try
- 21:01Speaker 5: to repair all this damage. But there was way more eyes,
- 21:05Speaker 5: you know, that that were on it at first then
- 21:07Speaker 5: three years later, I mean just because I was now
- 21:09Speaker 5: three more years were later, like later removed from the Bachelor.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Less people are paying attention to me than whenever the
- 21:14Speaker 5: story first came out.
- 21:26Speaker 3: So with the court right now it's thought she was
- 21:30Speaker 3: found guilty. She's yeah, I gotta know the legal jargons
- 21:35Speaker 3: because like, I know that you've like celebrated her being
- 21:37Speaker 3: like caught before, beyond just the paternity task or like
- 21:41Speaker 3: the there's no baby thing. When was the last time
- 21:45Speaker 3: you like really celebrated and what was that for if
- 21:47Speaker 3: there's still an impending trial.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Yeah, so I would say the last well, we celebrated
- 21:53Speaker 5: when the county attorneys said that they were going to
- 21:55Speaker 5: place charges upon her, which, of course then until the
- 21:59Speaker 5: court decides that, like, yes, these will be placed upon
- 22:02Speaker 5: her and she will be charged with these particular crimes.
- 22:04Speaker 5: It's like this is what they are, you know, essentially
- 22:07Speaker 5: investigating her for and will be taking her to court for.
- 22:09Speaker 5: But they're not final lot until obviously there's a jury
- 22:12Speaker 5: that decides whether.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Or not she's guilty. But we celebrated.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Last year when I won in court by proving that
- 22:22Speaker 5: she was never pregnant. So there was an order of
- 22:25Speaker 5: non paternity essentially that was made and that was just
- 22:29Speaker 5: so that she couldn't then continue the narrative, although she
- 22:32Speaker 5: still has. But there's a finding in the court stating that,
- 22:35Speaker 5: you know, all the everything shows that she was never
- 22:37Speaker 5: pregnant and certainly not pregnant with his child, and so
- 22:41Speaker 5: that was a conclusive, you know, statement that.
- 22:44Speaker 4: That was a win. Yeah, that was a major wink Clayton.
- 22:48Speaker 2: As we kind of wrap up here, I do want
- 22:51Speaker 2: to kind of go back to two things. One is,
- 22:53Speaker 2: you have this show coming out, and I think it
- 22:56Speaker 2: is going I guess I I only see it as
- 23:01Speaker 2: it can be good because it will tell the story
- 23:03Speaker 2: and as you said, the truth prevails. I mean, I
- 23:05Speaker 2: think through all of this, I feel for you, man.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I mean, this had to be really hard and hard
- 23:10Speaker 2: for the other victims within this. But I also I
- 23:16Speaker 2: am almost too sick thinking that something like this happened,
- 23:20Speaker 2: that she tried to take advantage of a situation that
- 23:23Speaker 2: is so delicate, and that so many people, like we said,
- 23:26Speaker 2: do have a fear of coming out and talking about
- 23:28Speaker 2: publicly when something that like unfortunate happens.
- 23:32Speaker 4: It's such a.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Terrible scenario, and as we said at the beginning, women
- 23:36Speaker 2: already have a hard enough time coming forward, and the
- 23:39Speaker 2: fact that she tried to take advantage of this situation
- 23:41Speaker 2: is so painful. It makes I think so many of
- 23:45Speaker 2: us sick to our stomach, and I do believe this
- 23:47Speaker 2: show is going to kind of not only unleash the
- 23:51Speaker 2: truth even further, but help people have an understanding about
- 23:54Speaker 2: how it got to this point. I am very excited
- 23:59Speaker 2: to listen to it. I think so many are for
- 24:01Speaker 2: so many different reasons. The one part and I do,
- 24:04Speaker 2: and this is where my question comes in, is it's
- 24:06Speaker 2: called love trapped. I am now finding out on this
- 24:10Speaker 2: conversation with you today, and we've talked to you, I
- 24:12Speaker 2: think three different times in the midst of this battle.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I didn't realize that the theory was that she might
- 24:18Speaker 2: have trapped you?
- 24:20Speaker 4: Is that?
- 24:20Speaker 2: And that's why the name came about love trapped? Is
- 24:23Speaker 2: that what it's referencing is that she was claiming I mean,
- 24:27Speaker 2: did she That's why I'm confused. Did she ever claim that, no,
- 24:29Speaker 2: we didn't have sex? I trapped him?
- 24:33Speaker 4: Is that? Was that?
- 24:34Speaker 3: We?
- 24:34Speaker 4: So? So?
- 24:35Speaker 5: Trapping is a term that I first heard when I
- 24:37Speaker 5: played Division one ball at Missoo. And it's this concept
- 24:43Speaker 5: or it's this this tactic I suppose where it happened
- 24:47Speaker 5: to a couple of my teammates, a very successful individual.
- 24:51Speaker 5: He's going to go first round in the draft, and
- 24:53Speaker 5: so a woman decides that she wants to date him
- 24:57Speaker 5: and or just be in his life, and she they
- 25:00Speaker 5: engage intimately, and she says she's on birth control. She
- 25:04Speaker 5: somehow gets pregnant, says, oh, I guess I missed a pillar.
- 25:07Speaker 5: I took a pill too late, and then you know,
- 25:09Speaker 5: ends up basically getting half of his earnings when he
- 25:12Speaker 5: makes it to the league.
- 25:12Speaker 4: So like, you know, there's it's.
- 25:14Speaker 5: This idea basically an individual latches on to someone else
- 25:18Speaker 5: that's in a position of you know, influencer power, and
- 25:24Speaker 5: latches onto them in order to seek like most times
- 25:27Speaker 5: financial gain, but it could also be influenced status, whatever
- 25:30Speaker 5: it might be. So that and you know, for me,
- 25:34Speaker 5: it's more also just trapping. It's just a concept of yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 5: like basically you're latching onto somebody and you were deceitful
- 25:42Speaker 5: in the way that you did it, right, So like
- 25:43Speaker 5: this isn't a situation where it's like if somebody likes
- 25:45Speaker 5: somebody and like there's you know, like it just happens
- 25:48Speaker 5: they accidentally get pregnant. It's like when there's the intent
- 25:51Speaker 5: to trick somebody, you know, set a trap and then
- 25:55Speaker 5: you know, work their way into your life.
- 25:57Speaker 4: To where they can seek some type of gain.
- 26:00Speaker 5: For Laura, you know, she she wants to be a
- 26:03Speaker 5: public figure. I guess she technically is, you know, because
- 26:06Speaker 5: she has her podcast and so she's the host, and
- 26:08Speaker 5: she spoke out publicly about her domestic violence in the
- 26:12Speaker 5: past that she experienced. You know, she so from her
- 26:16Speaker 5: like she was trying to latch onto to me and
- 26:20Speaker 5: because I had more eyes on me, and then seguigh
- 26:23Speaker 5: that into how I was, you know, verbally abused by
- 26:27Speaker 5: the bachelor who is a deadbeat father, and I've you know,
- 26:30Speaker 5: I've made it through another round of abuse and this
- 26:33Speaker 5: is my story. So she was used trapping me into
- 26:36Speaker 5: her her story arc that she could then twist to
- 26:40Speaker 5: her own benefit.
- 26:41Speaker 4: So that's the concept of trapping.
- 26:43Speaker 5: It's it's basically just getting involved in someone's life against
- 26:46Speaker 5: their will essentially.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You know, I'm just so scared for everybody out there
- 26:50Speaker 3: that women may want to get pregnant by really quickly
- 26:53Speaker 3: on the first date.
- 26:55Speaker 4: I never even thought of those tactics. Oh goodness, gracious, Well.
- 26:59Speaker 5: It's because you're one of those people that would actually
- 27:01Speaker 5: do that. So that's that's a good thing. You know,
- 27:03Speaker 5: you should be you should be proud that you don't
- 27:04Speaker 5: have these thoughts. But that's again, I've seen it. I've
- 27:07Speaker 5: seen it happen. You know, I'm not saying it happens
- 27:09Speaker 5: a lot, but it happens, and it's just like people
- 27:11Speaker 5: of influence are targeted. I've heard some crazy stories of
- 27:15Speaker 5: like a rapper that had to put hot sauce in
- 27:18Speaker 5: the you know, in a condom so that way somebody
- 27:21Speaker 5: wouldn't go grab it and try to artificially inciminate themselves.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Yeah, and they have to because it's like they their
- 27:27Speaker 5: their net worth is so high that somebody gets pregnant
- 27:30Speaker 5: and they go, oh, it's his kid, now pay me
- 27:32Speaker 5: child support.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I would be like celibate for life.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna wait till I'm waiting till i'm married.
- 27:40Speaker 4: I'm yeah.
- 27:40Speaker 3: So wait, how did that affect your dating life? Were
- 27:44Speaker 3: you just scared to bring anyone home?
- 27:47Speaker 5: Yeah? I mean, look like I'm still a thirty two
- 27:50Speaker 5: year old man, and so like my urges sometimes it's
- 27:53Speaker 5: like your animal brain kicks in and you're just like,
- 27:55Speaker 5: but it would oftentimes happen afterwards, where like I would
- 27:58Speaker 5: have that like clarity afterwards, and I'd be like Clayton,
- 28:02Speaker 5: like that's where the panic would set it. I'd be like, dude,
- 28:04Speaker 5: like you're gonna run yourself, like you could have this
- 28:06Speaker 5: happen again.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Like Lil Wayne says, when you come you come to
- 28:09Speaker 4: your senses.
- 28:12Speaker 5: I didn't know what all we could say on this,
- 28:13Speaker 5: you know, So I was like, I don't know if
- 28:15Speaker 5: I can say there now, but that's a lyric in
- 28:16Speaker 5: the Little Wayne song. Okay, okay, yeah, I was like,
- 28:20Speaker 5: there's I'm trying to like certain I was like, can
- 28:22Speaker 5: I say condom?
- 28:22Speaker 4: I don't know, but yeah, I mean, it's it's just
- 28:27Speaker 4: it's it certainly has impacted me.
- 28:29Speaker 5: I mean there's there's times where like I think I
- 28:30Speaker 5: have it under control, and then all of a sudden,
- 28:31Speaker 5: I'll get paranoid and I'll start to you know, and
- 28:34Speaker 5: I've had these conversations with some women where I'm like, hey,
- 28:36Speaker 5: I'm sorry, it's me and it's what I've went through,
- 28:38Speaker 5: Like I'm I'm just panicking, like I I think I'm
- 28:41Speaker 5: over it, and then like it just comes creeping back
- 28:44Speaker 5: in because I'm like, yeah, I don't want to go
- 28:45Speaker 5: through another situation like that. It took a heavy toll
- 28:48Speaker 5: on me emotionally, and I couldn't focus on anything.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Else in my life.
- 28:52Speaker 5: You know, while I was going on in the early
- 28:53Speaker 5: stages of that, before she went public, I just all
- 28:56Speaker 5: I could think about was this one was trying to
- 28:58Speaker 5: destroy me, and like she's gonna a full time job,
- 29:01Speaker 5: like she's sending me emails all throughout the day, and
- 29:04Speaker 5: I'm gonna have to like fight my you'll save my
- 29:05Speaker 5: reputation while still living my life, Like this is already
- 29:08Speaker 5: taking enough of my energy, and I still have to
- 29:10Speaker 5: show up in every other area of my life and
- 29:13Speaker 5: act as though nothing's going on. Because before it went public,
- 29:16Speaker 5: I didn't want it to go public. I really wanted
- 29:18Speaker 5: to solve this. I sent her a document basically saying,
- 29:21Speaker 5: if you sign off on this, we.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Can act like it never happened.
- 29:23Speaker 5: I'll never bring it up again, you know, Like I
- 29:25Speaker 5: was telling her, you, I know you're lying, so sign
- 29:27Speaker 5: this document, and you know you sign it and will
- 29:30Speaker 5: act like it never happened. I'll move off my life.
- 29:32Speaker 5: So I gave her an out, you know. So there's
- 29:34Speaker 5: like there's these dating contracts that we talk about in
- 29:36Speaker 5: the podcast. There's just like the phone calls to her mom.
- 29:40Speaker 5: You know, like there's there's just there's that, there's the
- 29:42Speaker 5: police reports, there's all this stuff that really again, it's
- 29:45Speaker 5: like for a crime junkie, it's some It's like it
- 29:47Speaker 5: gives you everything that like entails if you were to
- 29:51Speaker 5: be in a situation like this, what are the messages
- 29:53Speaker 5: you'd receive, what are the phone calls that would be made,
- 29:55Speaker 5: the police involvement, all these different people. It's it's pretty immersive.
- 29:59Speaker 5: So I the good thing about it, the documentary or
- 30:02Speaker 5: the podcast, what's great about it is that it will
- 30:06Speaker 5: shed light on this that people will go, Okay, I
- 30:09Speaker 5: gotta be careful because individuals like this do exist. But
- 30:12Speaker 5: you'll also hear about the other victims as well, that
- 30:14Speaker 5: I've received justice because she's she's dragged me through this,
- 30:17Speaker 5: but she's been dragging some men for up to over
- 30:19Speaker 5: ten years in this mess. So you find out about
- 30:22Speaker 5: the other people that have been involved with her prior
- 30:24Speaker 5: to me, and the whole scheme that her family has orchestrated.
- 30:28Speaker 4: It was a whole family ordeal.
- 30:29Speaker 5: So it gets really really deep and just mix mingled
- 30:34Speaker 5: and there's a lot of mess. But the nice thing
- 30:36Speaker 5: is there's a lot of people that are that are
- 30:37Speaker 5: getting justice. It's not just me.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I'm really happy for you that, like something successful might
- 30:42Speaker 3: come from this, because this could be a very popular
- 30:45Speaker 3: podcast and you can maybe even go forward as the host.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Who knows, but like or maybe a lifetime drama will
- 30:53Speaker 3: come of it because it's nut It's a nutty story
- 30:56Speaker 3: and this is a crazy character. How in the world
- 31:00Speaker 3: has somebody knocked not knocked sense into this woman before?
- 31:04Speaker 4: Like, where are her parents?
- 31:05Speaker 5: Her parents are are a part of it. So her
- 31:08Speaker 5: parents are enablers. Yeah, and so as you'll people will
- 31:12Speaker 5: find out, like a lot of cut from the same
- 31:15Speaker 5: cloth aspects at play. So I had spoken to her
- 31:20Speaker 5: mother on a call. I wish i'd have got it
- 31:22Speaker 5: on record because this is one party state. You can
- 31:25Speaker 5: record people without their permission in the state of Arizona.
- 31:29Speaker 5: But I didn't think that call was going to go
- 31:31Speaker 5: the way it did. I had a phone call early on,
- 31:33Speaker 5: hoping that she her mom was going to say, hey, yeah,
- 31:36Speaker 5: I'll talk with her, like I'm sorry she's going through this,
- 31:39Speaker 5: but no, it was like as if I was talking
- 31:41Speaker 5: to Laura times too. I mean, it was shocking to me.
- 31:45Speaker 5: And that's When I realized, I was like, Okay, I'm
- 31:46Speaker 5: in this really twisted situation where there's no accountability because
- 31:50Speaker 5: the people that raised her are a part of this
- 31:53Speaker 5: as well. They're in on the act. So it is, uh,
- 31:57Speaker 5: Love Trapped. You're going to be co hosting every episode.
- 32:03Speaker 5: It's out now. You can go listen to it. Follow
- 32:06Speaker 5: along Love Trap with Clayton Eckert. It's gonna follow his
- 32:08Speaker 5: story is Clayton just so eloquently teased us.
- 32:13Speaker 4: You're gonna hear.
- 32:15Speaker 2: More into the court case, into the testimonies, into the
- 32:20Speaker 2: family dynamics, into some of the mental mindsets of somebody
- 32:26Speaker 2: like Laura Owens, who has done this to multiple people, and,
- 32:28Speaker 2: as Clayton said, drags some through it. For the last
- 32:31Speaker 2: ten years, Love Trapped out there wherever. You can listen
- 32:34Speaker 2: to the podcast, especially the iHeartRadio app.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Go listen to it.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Clayton, thanks for coming on, Thanks for teasing this huge
- 32:43Speaker 2: drop for you. As Ashley said, we hope it's massively
- 32:46Speaker 2: successful for you because when something really bad like this happens,
- 32:52Speaker 2: the hope is that something good comes on the back end,
- 32:55Speaker 2: which could be a paycheck and your story being told. Clayton,
- 32:59Speaker 2: thanks for joining us today.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you so much.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Bye letter.
