- 0:26Samantha Pruitt: Hello, hello, hello, beautiful humans.
- 0:29Samantha Pruitt: Coach Sam here doing a solo today.
- 0:32Samantha Pruitt: Thanks for coming into the conversation you and I are about to have.
- 0:35Samantha Pruitt: That's right, I'm in your ears, so apparently we are connecting today.
- 0:42Samantha Pruitt: So I really appreciate your time, energy and attention.
- 0:45Samantha Pruitt: Today we're going to talk about health is wealth.
- 0:51Samantha Pruitt: That's right, health is wealth.
- 0:57Samantha Pruitt: What if I offered you the best part-time job ever, with short-term, long-term passive gains, rewards and returns?
- 1:08Samantha Pruitt: What if I told you that doing this part-time job would ensure that it doesn't turn into a full-time job later that you hate, a full-time job later that you hate?
- 1:29Samantha Pruitt: And what if this part-time job was actually self-employment and you could do it when, how, wherever you choose?
- 1:36Samantha Pruitt: Well, that's a hell yes.
- 1:39Samantha Pruitt: Right, that is a hell yes.
- 1:41Samantha Pruitt: And that's what I mean when I say health is wealth.
- 1:44Samantha Pruitt: It's basically a part-time job.
- 1:47Samantha Pruitt: Taking care of your health is a part-time job, and I mean a part-time job that we all need to commit to.
- 1:57Samantha Pruitt: I discovered this the hard way around the age of 30.
- 2:00Samantha Pruitt: Around the age of 30.
- 2:09Samantha Pruitt: Oh, I had a sick body and a sick brain.
- 2:10Samantha Pruitt: It turned into a full-time job quickly, and a very, very painful one at that, because I didn't do the work before, in my first, prior 30 years of life, really, because I didn't know.
- 2:22Samantha Pruitt: I didn't know any better and most of us don't know any better.
- 2:26Samantha Pruitt: We're not taught, we're not role modeled, we're not supported in the way that we would even know what the hell to do anyway.
- 2:33Samantha Pruitt: So over the last 25 years, this part-time job that was a full-time job but turned into a part-time job, evolved for me, and what I mean by that is it was full-time because I was so broken in body and brain that I basically well, not basically I had to quit my real job, the job that paid my bills, and I pretty much had to quit most of life in order to heal the brokenness of my body and brain.
- 3:07Samantha Pruitt: And the reason I'm so passionate about this now and I want to impart this on you today is I don't wish that for you, I don't wish that for anybody.
- 3:16Samantha Pruitt: I've got some loved ones right now who are battling for their life, with their health, literally, and it's tough.
- 3:26Samantha Pruitt: It's a full-time job.
- 3:28Samantha Pruitt: So if we can all determine that this part-time job that I'm pitching you on today, if you would just invest some time and energy now to avoid disease state later, that's the way to go.
- 3:42Samantha Pruitt: It's now my purpose, my passion, my contribution to the world to, and really, the love of my life health, wellness, fitness.
- 3:54Samantha Pruitt: I believe if you move your body, you build your mind and you create your life.
- 4:01Samantha Pruitt: So let's get started, shall we?
- 4:05Samantha Pruitt: Frankly, all of us can do better Me too, and all of us have more to build when it comes to the wealth of health, to avoid physical and mental disease that really robs us of our life, draining our bank account of joy, of motivation, of energy, of inspiration, of productivity and, literally, of love, because fear replaces love when we're in a diseased state.
- 4:40Samantha Pruitt: All right, how do we do this?
- 4:42Samantha Pruitt: Well, get a pen and paper put on your suit and tie show up to the interview with your top resume.
- 4:54Samantha Pruitt: No, truthfully, how do we do this?
- 4:57Samantha Pruitt: Number one you're already hired, that's right.
- 5:02Samantha Pruitt: You're already hired.
- 5:03Samantha Pruitt: So just accept, accept the job.
- 5:08Samantha Pruitt: Accept the job and show the hell up.
- 5:12Samantha Pruitt: It's just your life anyway.
- 5:14Samantha Pruitt: You're hired.
- 5:16Samantha Pruitt: Number two create and write down yes, pen and paper, real things here.
- 5:24Samantha Pruitt: Create and write down your health mission statement.
- 5:29Samantha Pruitt: Create and write down your health mission statement.
- 5:32Samantha Pruitt: What the hell is that?
- 5:33Samantha Pruitt: It is a declaration of your values and aims, a commitment to your values, your life culture, your personal goals.
- 5:48Samantha Pruitt: This health mission statement will guide your communications, your thoughts, your decisions and your actions.
- 5:59Samantha Pruitt: Number three take an interpersonal inventory.
- 6:07Samantha Pruitt: When I say interpersonal, that means you internally, your own thoughts, feelings, ideas about yourself and the world.
- 6:14Samantha Pruitt: Take an interpersonal inventory of what is working, what is not working, and write it all down.
- 6:26Samantha Pruitt: What is not working and write it all down Regarding your health what is working, what is not working, and write it all down.
- 6:37Samantha Pruitt: Number four pick one of these areas at a time.
- 6:42Samantha Pruitt: Okay, don't get overloaded, don't get overwhelmed.
- 6:50Samantha Pruitt: Trying to do everything at one time leads to failure because basically, you're setting yourself up for an unreasonable amount of lifestyle and habit change all at one time.
- 7:01Samantha Pruitt: Most of us can only tolerate and actually adapt to small changes, small thoughtful, intentional changes over time, not everything at once.
- 7:14Samantha Pruitt: That will be overwhelming and frustrating and crazy making for the people you live with also.
- 7:23Samantha Pruitt: So pick one area at a time.
- 7:28Samantha Pruitt: Okay, what's not working?
- 7:30Samantha Pruitt: Also, we make a list of what is working, because lots of things probably are working.
- 7:35Samantha Pruitt: There's probably plenty of things you are loving that are going well.
- 7:39Samantha Pruitt: Stoked on and, frankly, pat yourself on the back, rinse and repeat those good behaviors.
- 7:45Samantha Pruitt: Let's keep them intact and let's replace some of the behaviors that are no longer working or serving you.
- 7:54Samantha Pruitt: So, pick one area at a time, get some support if you need it.
- 7:58Samantha Pruitt: I don't know, maybe you need a coach, maybe you need an accountability partner or group, maybe you need some other type of support to make this change, these changes that ultimately, you will stack and get educated.
- 8:15Samantha Pruitt: Okay, you can get educated through a support system or you can get educated all on your own through the World Wide Web.
- 8:24Samantha Pruitt: There's also so much out there in terms of books, reading materials, podcasts, et cetera, et cetera.
- 8:31Samantha Pruitt: Sometimes too much, and that can become overwhelming, but I think many of us have people that we trust in our lives.
- 8:40Samantha Pruitt: It doesn't have to be a coach.
- 8:41Samantha Pruitt: It can be a friend or a family member or whatever People that are just crushing it out there.
- 8:47Samantha Pruitt: What are they learning?
- 8:50Samantha Pruitt: What do they know?
- 8:51Samantha Pruitt: How can they share some of these resources to help get you educated on what your options are?
- 8:55Samantha Pruitt: And then explore these options.
- 8:59Samantha Pruitt: Okay, explore, go, check it out, go, try them.
- 9:06Samantha Pruitt: It's a natural progression for all of us to evolve physically, intellectually, emotionally.
- 9:13Samantha Pruitt: This area of our life called our health which is everything, by the way, of course should be a natural progression as well.
- 9:21Samantha Pruitt: We should have a curiosity to understanding how our body works.
- 9:27Samantha Pruitt: How does our brain work?
- 9:29Samantha Pruitt: I am a freaking nerd when it comes to this stuff.
- 9:32Samantha Pruitt: I get not.
- 9:33Samantha Pruitt: Everybody is totally into learning all the things about the physical body and how it works and how it's evolving and science is evolving currently at a rapid pace.
- 9:43Samantha Pruitt: It's super, super exciting time for us to be humans, but if you're not a total nerd about it, that's cool.
- 9:49Samantha Pruitt: Find the things that you are interested in and get yourself educated.
- 9:56Samantha Pruitt: Okay, let me show you some examples.
- 9:57Samantha Pruitt: So an example would be you have taken an inventory.
- 10:02Samantha Pruitt: Well, first of all, you understand you're hired, so you showed up for the job.
- 10:08Samantha Pruitt: Okay, you've written yourself a health mission statement, which is again a declaration of your own values and aims, a commitment to these values, to your life, culture and your personal goals.
- 10:21Samantha Pruitt: You've taken an inventory and you've decided what's not working for you currently is your nutrition.
- 10:29Samantha Pruitt: Okay, you have now got to say all right, I'm going to focus on the big bucket, the giant bucket called nutrition.
- 10:40Samantha Pruitt: All right, nutrition is how you fuel your body and brain.
- 10:44Samantha Pruitt: It's literally the building blocks for the body you walk around in every single day and for all of the organs, including the organ of the brain, how you think, process thoughts, process emotions, how you interpret the world.
- 11:01Samantha Pruitt: I mean critical.
- 11:02Samantha Pruitt: Your nutrition is critical.
- 11:04Samantha Pruitt: You have been honest about what's working and what's not working.
- 11:08Samantha Pruitt: I am really good at I'm giving examples.
- 11:13Samantha Pruitt: Now, you know, getting my green drink in every morning and maybe taking some vitamins and supplements that are working for me that my body has been deficient in, and maybe limiting the amount of sugar or processed foods.
- 11:33Samantha Pruitt: Okay, what's not working?
- 11:35Samantha Pruitt: Well, there are some things that seem to be causing me GI distress, bloating, gas, diarrhea or constipation, skin rashes, whatever, whatever, all right.
- 11:50Samantha Pruitt: So that's just taking an honest inventory.
- 11:53Samantha Pruitt: Right Now we're going to add, eliminate or replace some of the things that are not working.
- 12:00Samantha Pruitt: We should eliminate, we should replace them.
- 12:02Samantha Pruitt: Maybe they just get eliminated and don't get replaced.
- 12:06Samantha Pruitt: For me, it's gluten.
- 12:07Samantha Pruitt: I have actually quite a few food allergies and I have the autoimmune disease, celiacs, which is a gluten intolerance.
- 12:14Samantha Pruitt: So for me, I've had to eliminate a lot of things over the last 25 years and really take time figuring that out.
- 12:23Samantha Pruitt: It does require patience.
- 12:25Samantha Pruitt: However, the quality of my life has greatly improved and the quality of my body and brain function is well.
- 12:33Samantha Pruitt: It's night and day compared to what it was.
- 12:36Samantha Pruitt: Maybe we need to add some things in.
- 12:38Samantha Pruitt: Okay, so, for example, the average human this is for health and longevity should eat 30 different plants per week Variety variety, variety, 30 different plants per week, or plant sources that can be seeds and nuts also.
- 12:56Samantha Pruitt: However, if you walk into your local grocery store, 80% of the food products are made from three items corn, wheat and soy.
- 13:15Samantha Pruitt: So in the grocery store, mostly for sale is corn wheat and soy, but we need to eat 30 different types of plants and we need to eat at least 50% of our diet from vegetables and the other 50% from protein, carbohydrates, etc.
- 13:31Samantha Pruitt: However, in the store, for sale is something different.
- 13:37Samantha Pruitt: So you have to be really intentional about what am I going to change.
- 13:41Samantha Pruitt: Pick your things that need improvement.
- 13:44Samantha Pruitt: I'm just giving you examples, just some examples.
- 13:48Samantha Pruitt: But what's going on for you is unique.
- 13:50Samantha Pruitt: You're a unique human being and it's really important to learn what you need, not what you want, because I guarantee those chips and cookies and you know packaged processed foods, etc.
- 14:03Samantha Pruitt: Etc.
- 14:03Samantha Pruitt: I guarantee your brain is telling you that you want those, but what is it that you actually need?
- 14:12Samantha Pruitt: Need and then gradually over time, shift your mindset and behaviors around your nutritional profile, what your body is taking in by choice every day, and then set some non-negotiables around that.
- 14:30Samantha Pruitt: So if I'm going to do XYZ or I'm not going to do ABC, that's a non-negotiable for me.
- 14:40Samantha Pruitt: So non-negotiable habits that you will or will not commit to, okay.
- 14:46Samantha Pruitt: So, avoiding things or incorporating things, whatever works for you on the daily, create some non-negotiables.
- 14:53Samantha Pruitt: Create some non-negotiables.
- 14:56Samantha Pruitt: If you want to learn something interesting and I know you do learn about the gut-brain interplay.
- 15:10Samantha Pruitt: The gut-brain, yes, the gut-brain.
- 15:11Samantha Pruitt: The gut and brain are tied together in an intricate dance.
- 15:13Samantha Pruitt: I call it an interplay, but they talk to each other, they operate together.
- 15:18Samantha Pruitt: It's fascinating.
- 15:19Samantha Pruitt: Learn about things like that.
- 15:20Samantha Pruitt: It will blow your mind.
- 15:21Samantha Pruitt: So the more you learn about nutrition for your body and how your body functions, I think, the more interesting this can become for you.
- 15:32Samantha Pruitt: We're not here to make you crazy around what you put in your mouth, okay.
- 15:35Samantha Pruitt: We are here to build your health.
- 15:37Samantha Pruitt: The wealth of your health and nutrition is obviously a huge, paramount, foundational element of health.
- 15:44Samantha Pruitt: Another example could be exercise.
- 15:47Samantha Pruitt: All right, so let's say you choose your biggest pain point right now to be the giant bucket called exercise.
- 15:54Samantha Pruitt: Well, make a list what's working, what's not working, what's fun and what's getting you the results you want, what's not, what are you dreading, what do you hate, what doesn't feel good, and then let's stop, start, try or replace different things.
- 16:14Samantha Pruitt: Maybe we need to stop going to that same old workout we've done year, day after day, for years and years and years because we're not seeing any results that we want.
- 16:24Samantha Pruitt: Maybe we need to stop going to a gym that doesn't make us feel good emotionally.
- 16:31Samantha Pruitt: When we walk in the door, we don't feel fired up about going there.
- 16:34Samantha Pruitt: Maybe we need to start something new, like hey, maybe we need to start strength training because we're aging and we're noticing that there's muscle loss happening or quality of the integrity of our bones and connective tissue is starting to deteriorate.
- 16:48Samantha Pruitt: Whatever, whatever it is for you, and then try new things, replace things and explore.
- 16:54Samantha Pruitt: Learn what it is you need.
- 16:57Samantha Pruitt: Again, there is no one nutritional program.
- 17:02Samantha Pruitt: There is no one exercise program.
- 17:03Samantha Pruitt: There is no one sleep program for every human.
- 17:06Samantha Pruitt: We're so all incredibly unique.
- 17:09Samantha Pruitt: Learn what you need at this season of your life and explore the variety of what is out there.
- 17:18Samantha Pruitt: Be brave and be willing to fail for growth.
- 17:21Samantha Pruitt: I have personally had eight businesses, and many of my friends are self-employed people and have had their own businesses over their lifetime.
- 17:30Samantha Pruitt: At some point, when you start a new business, you have to be brave and willing to fail If you want to grow.
- 17:39Samantha Pruitt: Your health is no different.
- 17:41Samantha Pruitt: This is your job.
- 17:43Samantha Pruitt: You have to be brave.
- 17:44Samantha Pruitt: You have to be willing to fail for growth.
- 17:46Samantha Pruitt: Also, the big wins come from taking big risks.
- 17:52Samantha Pruitt: In this area, you've been doing the same damn thing for days, if not years, of your life, I guarantee it.
- 17:58Samantha Pruitt: Many of us, me included, have repetitive habits and patterns around what we eat, how we exercise, how we sleep, et cetera.
- 18:06Samantha Pruitt: These habits are the building blocks of our bodies, of our brains, of our entire life.
- 18:17Samantha Pruitt: So choose wisely, be awake to these habits.
- 18:23Samantha Pruitt: Maybe sleep is an area that you need to explore.
- 18:27Samantha Pruitt: All right, there is so much new science that's emerged around sleep.
- 18:31Samantha Pruitt: Tons and tons of great stuff out there.
- 18:32Samantha Pruitt: I could go on for days about that.
- 18:32Samantha Pruitt: Tons and tons of great stuff out there.
- 18:34Samantha Pruitt: I could go on for days about that.
- 18:35Samantha Pruitt: So, whatever the area is that you're choosing to focus on, pick one at a time, get the support you need, get educated, explore options.
- 18:44Samantha Pruitt: Let's go.
- 18:51Samantha Pruitt: Build some new habits.
- 18:53Samantha Pruitt: Your body and mind are partners in this life.
- 18:55Samantha Pruitt: Your body and mind are partners in this life.
- 18:57Samantha Pruitt: It's not one against the other.
- 18:59Samantha Pruitt: It's not the battle between the body and the mind.
- 19:03Samantha Pruitt: We're one unit, one beautiful, imperfect human.
- 19:08Samantha Pruitt: The body and the mind are partners Together.
- 19:12Samantha Pruitt: They will make you rich or bury you in debt.
- 19:17Samantha Pruitt: The choice is yours Now, today.
- 19:22Samantha Pruitt: Don't waste another year, month, week or day of your life.
- 19:27Samantha Pruitt: And when I say they'll bury you in debt, that's disease, that's illness, mental, emotional, physical illness.
- 19:39Samantha Pruitt: Take on your health as a self-employed, part-time job.
- 19:43Samantha Pruitt: This is not one more thing to add to your to-do list.
- 19:47Samantha Pruitt: What I mean here is make room, time, resources, energy for this part-time job called you, called your body, called your health.
- 20:01Samantha Pruitt: Eliminate the drains, the waste, the burdens that distract you and empty your bank account.
- 20:08Samantha Pruitt: Netflix binging on the sofa or playing video games or hanging out with people who do not aspire the way you do to have a quality body and life you know there's so many ways that we waste time and energy.
- 20:27Samantha Pruitt: It's not so.
- 20:28Samantha Pruitt: Put the phone down, turn the TV off.
- 20:31Samantha Pruitt: I just gave you back three hours of your day right there.
- 20:34Samantha Pruitt: Make time for this new, part-time, self-employed job called your health, so that you can have the body, the brain and the life that you want.
- 20:48Samantha Pruitt: Stop settling and compromising.
- 20:50Samantha Pruitt: Mental and physical disease battles are a full-time job.
- 20:56Samantha Pruitt: You do not want Better to avoid that full-time job.
- 21:00Samantha Pruitt: We don't want disease state a disease battle by taking care of business now and doing the part-time job we love, which is building our health, building our wealth in our physical body, in our mental and emotional body health.
- 21:19Samantha Pruitt: Building our wealth in our physical body, in our mental and emotional body.
- 21:22Samantha Pruitt: Invest now in building the wealth of health.
- 21:24Samantha Pruitt: I believe in you.
- 21:25Samantha Pruitt: All right, if you need any help with any of this, call me, let's talk about it.
- 21:30Samantha Pruitt: I'll give you some homework.
- 21:32Samantha Pruitt: We'll go down the road together, but I believe in you.
- 21:35Samantha Pruitt: You guys are all capable of doing this and I'm so stoked for you.
- 21:39Samantha Pruitt: It's not going to be perfect, it's not going to be fast, but you are freaking worth it.
- 21:47Samantha Pruitt: All right, beautiful people, remember how your life looks is not important as how it feels and, as my dearest friend Polly would say, every day is an opportunity for awesomeness.
