- 0:07and breathe the Ferrari brand.
- 0:09Topics range from road cars to racing, drivers to owners, as well
- 0:13as auctions, private sales, and trends in the collector market.
- 0:28Welcome back everyone to the Ferrari Marketplace.
- 0:30This is William.
- 0:31I am your host.
- 0:33Um, today's episode, we're going to talk about the Scottsdale auction
- 0:37results and what happened out there.
- 0:40I know this was, uh, what, a little over a month ago?
- 0:42So, but you know, gathering all this stuff, you know, it
- 0:44takes a few weeks to put it all together numbers wise and whatnot.
- 0:46So we're going to talk about The Scottsdale auction results from all five
- 0:51of the auction houses that were out there.
- 0:53Barrett Jackson, Worldwide, Bonham, Sotheby's, and Gooding.
- 0:56Uh, but real quick, hey, just want to stress before again, just
- 0:59trying to get the hang of this.
- 1:00So, if this is a little rough or whatnot, a little bit scattered, I apologize.
- 1:04I'm trying to get this to put together more and cohesive.
- 1:07So, just give me some time, we'll put it together.
- 1:09Like I said, we're going to talk auctions, we're going to talk
- 1:11events, we're going to talk cars.
- 1:13You know, many, many different topics.
- 1:17You know, it's not just gonna be just it's gonna be about everything Ferrari So I
- 1:21just kind of want to get that out there and say hey check out the Instagram page
- 1:24LinkedIn My youtube channels, you know got that up, but there's only a couple of
- 1:28things on there I got some video coming when I head out to California here in a
- 1:31few days So I just want to get out there.
- 1:33So check it out.
- 1:34But again, just want to apologize.
- 1:35I said, I'm not a pro at this far from it.
- 1:38Um, just kind of want to start working out the kinks.
- 1:41So I really appreciate your patience.
- 1:42Really appreciate everybody's been downloading the previous episodes.
- 1:46And Hey, I'm going to try and get these out about every couple of days.
- 1:48So, cause there's always plenty to talk about with Ferrari because
- 1:51Ferrari's the greatest, correct?
- 1:54So anyways, like I said, we're going to talk about the Scottsdale
- 1:56auctions, uh, the 2022 auction that just came about back in January.
- 2:00And like I said, you know, they had five auction houses out there now, it wasn't
- 2:04actually that big of a year for out there, um, in Scottsdale from recent years.
- 2:11Um, I mean, it was up a bit, but it was well below the almost 290
- 2:16million of the record set in 2015.
- 2:18So, um, it was, it was there.
- 2:21It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.
- 2:23Now, you know, the median price was about 66, 000.
- 2:28So There was a recorded good margin, so it wasn't bad.
- 2:32So anyways, out there at Scottsdale, there are a total of 2, 130
- 2:37lots, total, amongst the five.
- 2:40Now, which is kind of interesting, Mecham held their Kiss Me auction
- 2:43about two weeks earlier than that.
- 2:44That was like 800 less total than Mecham had at their lodge.
- 2:49Out of all five auction houses, they were still about 800 cards less than Mecham
- 2:54had just themselves total Kissimmee.
- 2:55So it kind of gives you an idea how big, you know, Mecham gets their
- 2:58auctions, especially at Kissimmee.
- 3:00So that's a huge one too.
- 3:00That's a really good one.
- 3:01But the five, you know, total for the five auctions for the all five houses was
- 3:08around just a smidge under 268 million, but the cool thing is or interesting thing
- 3:15is that was actually 63 million dollars more Then what me committed to kissing me.
- 3:19So with 800 less cars, they still bested them by 63 million bucks.
- 3:24So kind of interesting, I guess that kind of gives you an idea of quantity
- 3:28versus quality in regards to cars that are coming across the block.
- 3:32So now the only thing about this was kind of interesting at out there,
- 3:36there's only 31 Ferraris that were up for auction out of all auction houses.
- 3:40There are only 31 of them.
- 3:41Now in 2020, there were 86 Ferraris that went across the
- 3:45auction block in Scottsdale.
- 3:47So obviously significantly less amount now that could maybe have
- 3:53something to do because Amelia Island's coming out and a lot of the
- 3:56big swingers are waiting to that.
- 3:58I know, uh, David Gooding from Gooding and company and made the
- 4:01comment that, you know, they're, you know, big customers, whatnot.
- 4:04We're holding out and taking their stuff to Amelia Island instead
- 4:07of having it out in Scottsdale.
- 4:08So maybe that's what the other houses were having the same
- 4:11situation occur with their clients.
- 4:14So.
- 4:15Could be it.
- 4:15We'll see million ions coming up.
- 4:17We'll see what they do.
- 4:17I know there's some fabulous cars coming up for auction down there I'm gonna be
- 4:21hitting the Gooding one when I'm down there Any other ones I can kind of squeeze
- 4:24myself into so I will keep you abreast of that now Of the 32 Ferrari's that were
- 4:33out there They only brought about ten point four million But only two frogs
- 4:39actually sold for over a million dollars.
- 4:41So that kind of gives you an idea of where we're sitting at.
- 4:43So, but as I go through, I'll kind of highlight some of the
- 4:46ones that went across the block.
- 4:47So, it wasn't a huge amount, you know, and it wasn't any big blockbuster like
- 4:5110, 15 million dollar cars going on.
- 4:53No like, uh, you know, any Californians or anything like that.
- 4:57Um, but, you know, no big dollar stuff like that going on.
- 5:01But, anyways.
- 5:04Uh, let's kind of get into it more.
- 5:06So let's talk about a couple of these cars that went across the block.
- 5:10Now, this car is a 250 GTE.
- 5:12It's a serial number 4695.
- 5:15Uh, it's a 63 model.
- 5:17Um, you know, it's got the Grigio Argento with some mahogany leather.
- 5:21Uh, the estimate that that thing would go across is around four and
- 5:24a quarter to five and a quarter was the estimate that they had that at.
- 5:27You know, it's largely original, about a three plus condition.
- 5:30Uh, hammered at 425, but then you, uh, put in The commission and stuff like that.
- 5:35You're just up almost a hair under four and three quarters.
- 5:38So about four hundred seventy two thousand five hundred dollars so I
- 5:41mean That's the kind of thing, you know, that's what I think about going
- 5:44to these auctions and buying a car.
- 5:46You're tacking on, you know, a little over 11 percent roughly to that actual cost.
- 5:50So, you can't always say what the hammer price is, it's what you're actually
- 5:53going to have to pay to take it home.
- 5:54Um, you know, this thing wasn't too bad.
- 5:56The engine compartment was rather clean, you know, nice and oily.
- 5:59Uh, some fuel residue was left on the carburetors, but, you know,
- 6:01was, it's not restored, but hey.
- 6:03What can you do?
- 6:04It's it's a great car to be good car.
- 6:06Probably just you can go out and drive, which is nice.
- 6:09You can go out and you can enjoy it.
- 6:11Next one we got up is a 275 GTB.
- 6:14It's a serial number 06609.
- 6:16Uh, 65.
- 6:18Um, now this one is red with black and asked me about 1.
- 6:215 to 2 million.
- 6:23Uh, now this one was, you know, as they say, visually maintain is largely
- 6:26original, about a three condition, three negative, maybe so, and hammered at 1.
- 6:317.
- 6:31So with your commission and everything final on this thing was 1.
- 6:35875 million off the door.
- 6:37Now, this one has some alloy wheels and some new Michelin XWX tires on it.
- 6:42I had two sets of spare wheels and a partial tool roll.
- 6:45Um, now there's stone chips in the nose, some chipped edges.
- 6:48Another thing was he had some duct tape patch seats, which was kind of
- 6:51like, you're really going to send this through, some duct tape patch seats.
- 6:55Uh, the chrome was a little bit weak.
- 6:57Um, you know, the engine compartment was orderly and neat, but, you know, it
- 7:01had some road grime, everything, and it had some fluid residue left around it.
- 7:05Now, it was represented to have its matching number of engines
- 7:07but a replacement gearbox.
- 7:09So that's not too bad.
- 7:10But you know, hey, it was sound, it was a usable car, you could go out and drive.
- 7:14Um, you know, Discounted for how it looked in its age.
- 7:19And, you know, obviously it's going to need to get sent out to get,
- 7:22have some, I guess, tidying up done.
- 7:26So, but Hey, this car would have been perfect for the
- 7:28preservation class challenge.
- 7:29So it's kind of one of the things to take a peek at, but, um, you know,
- 7:32but again, you know, find one that you can go out and you have to worry about
- 7:35driving, you know, and you can get out there and just have some fun with it.
- 7:38Maybe just.
- 7:39Keep it mechanically sound and leave it as it is.
- 7:41You don't have to worry about it.
- 7:42I mean, yes, you're still talking a little bit under two million dollars where it
- 7:45just puts it around but hey What the heck you don't have to worry about a your
- 7:48three million dollar one four million dollar one Getting chipped or anything
- 7:51like that after you spend almost half a million dollars and you know getting a
- 7:54restoration done on it The next one we got up We got a 30, 30 GC, GTC Speciale.
- 8:03Got a seal number 8727.
- 8:04It's a 66.
- 8:05Now this one's kind of pretty because there's a nice shade of blue.
- 8:07This blue scuro with beige leather.
- 8:11If I pronounce some of these colors names wrong, forgive me, I'm not Italian.
- 8:14But anyways, this one was estimated for about, you know, 700, 000 to 900, 000.
- 8:19It had a recent restoration, but um, it was about a two condition.
- 8:22So it was up there, so it looked, looking good.
- 8:24Uh, this thing hammered sold at 875, 000, so we commissioned
- 8:28everything out the door.
- 8:28It was 967, 500.
- 8:31Um, so go out there, it's not too bad.
- 8:33It's, you know, the Bor, Boranis on it.
- 8:35Uh, the Becker radio cassette was in there.
- 8:37It had to pop up, driving lights, power windows.
- 8:38It was store like new, but there was some road grime and some floor, uh,
- 8:41fluid residue that was under the hood.
- 8:43So they really didn't tidy it up when they first, when they got there.
- 8:46So, maybe they cleaned up just a smidge more, maybe they got
- 8:48a few extra dollars, but hey.
- 8:50I don't know, but I guess this one was first owned by Sergio Pininfarina.
- 8:53So it's kind of got a little bit of history to it.
- 8:56Uh, it was modified as a design study and incorporated a number
- 8:59of unique details in interior and, uh, with the pop up driving lights.
- 9:03So if you have a chance to take it, it's kind of cool.
- 9:05I've seen it cause there's like, um, they're like an extra set of
- 9:08these little pop up lights on there.
- 9:09So take a fun, take a look at that thing.
- 9:11It's pretty, uh, pretty neat.
- 9:13So, but again.
- 9:15Very good paint, paint and chrome.
- 9:17You know, um, poultry was a little bit stretched and whatnot from that, but
- 9:20obviously being seated there, but this thing actually sold by gooding back
- 9:24in Scottsdale in 2008 for 550, 000.
- 9:27So now I'm talking what, 12, 13 years difference and what's appreciated.
- 9:32Not quite.
- 9:33I'm not good at math.
- 9:40I went to public school.
- 9:40So, but anyways, um, I don't know if this thing was, you know, I dunno, it's
- 9:49price wise, you know, it was up there.
- 9:52Um, but you know, you had the, you know, special features, the pop up
- 9:56lights, the pin and free and ownership.
- 9:57So I guess that helped.
- 9:59You know, with the value, but I said to love the blue thing, you
- 10:03know, but again, so it's a fun car to drive It's ready to go.
- 10:05It's on the button and have some fun with it go around show it.
- 10:08So next what we have was a 330 GTS serial number 9805 is a 67 now This
- 10:16one's as you're standing red red with camel in it estimated about 1.
- 10:195 to 2 million It was visually maintained large original
- 10:23About a three condition on it.
- 10:24So this thing hammer sold about 1.
- 10:26775 million.
- 10:28So it's your Commission percentage in there of just a
- 10:31smidge under one two minute 1.
- 10:3396 million Um, now this had a craig eight track stereo in it So
- 10:38it's kind of interesting had the brownies, you know, but had some
- 10:40michelin defender tires on it.
- 10:42They had the tool roll I had all the period paperwork everything like that
- 10:46now Um, there's some orange peel by the windshield on the windshield post.
- 10:51So the upholstery was pretty decent.
- 10:53The gauges were a bit dirty interior buttons in the ashtray,
- 10:56like, you know, a little bit rough.
- 10:58Um, the engine compartment was kind of old and dirty, you know, it didn't show
- 11:02much detail of the tension to this.
- 11:03So it's kind of weird why you bring a car like this to an auction and
- 11:07you don't really take care of it.
- 11:08Now, um, these were coming out of the Dr.
- 11:10Terry Maxson collection.
- 11:12Um, Well, it just, you know, it was just agency neglected where, you know,
- 11:18someone that the person that bought it, hopefully we'll take it, have it do
- 11:22a nice little cleanup on it and tweak and stuff, you know, drop, probably
- 11:26drop about, you know, 80, 100 grand or so I wanted to get this thing up
- 11:30to snuff and have some fun with it.
- 11:33So anyways, next one.
- 11:35Now this one is an inch card.
- 11:37Actually, as I get into this, you'll see this car has been jumping around.
- 11:42To a lot of the auction houses.
- 11:43Well, I'm not saying a lot, but it's been in the past few years.
- 11:47This thing's hey, it's got some miles on it just from
- 11:49going from auction to auction.
- 11:51Um, you know, this is a, uh, 365 GTS, uh, serial number 14779.
- 11:56It's a 71.
- 11:57Now this is a convertible.
- 11:58Now this is a Sidney Pollack's old car that, uh, he used to own.
- 12:03So I, I don't know.
- 12:05I don't know how much that really adds to it, Sidney Pollack.
- 12:08Not that big of a name to me, but other people out there
- 12:10might actually mean something.
- 12:12Now, this thing, um, was estimated about 2.
- 12:154 to 2.
- 12:168 million had an older restoration, but it was a number two condition.
- 12:19So, but.
- 12:21Did not sell.
- 12:22The high bid got it up there around 2.
- 12:25175 million and so it was a no sale.
- 12:30Um, you know, it's got the pop up headlights, it had the XWX tires,
- 12:35a Becker Mexico cassette, you know, had air conditioning, which is kind
- 12:40of unique sometimes for those cars.
- 12:42Uh, it had an older paint on it, barely used upholstery, clean
- 12:45engine compartment, you know, showing some age, but hey, you know.
- 12:47Few miles on it, but hey, what the heck, you know, it's only got 40, 000
- 12:51little over 40, 000 original miles on it So it's you look at the age.
- 12:55That's not too bad.
- 12:57But um, you know This thing was most recently restored back in 2001 then
- 13:01cosmetically refreshed in 2010, you know, it's well documented meticulously
- 13:06maintained Daytona spider You know, it's been around like I said hopping around.
- 13:10So, you know, the first thing that's kind of showing up was back in 99 When
- 13:14it sold for 308, 000, uh, by 2008, they had the registration and was freshened
- 13:19up, uh, now, and a post block sale at Gooding's got to, as it went for 1.
- 13:2729 million in 2008, so said it was jumping around and then it was sold again.
- 13:32By Gooding at Scottsdale again in 2020, where I bought 1.
- 13:3593 million.
- 13:37So in the first, in those 23 years since it first came around, but now
- 13:40it's only at 900, not 4 miles to it.
- 13:42So, it really just kind of been sitting around, not really doing a whole much.
- 13:47So, doesn't seem like anyone's really gotten out and enjoyed that car.
- 13:51Which is unfortunate.
- 13:53Not one of my more, more favorite cars.
- 13:56But, you know, um, People didn't like them.
- 13:59So I surprised you and just tried a little bit more.
- 14:02Now.
- 14:03This one's kind of interesting.
- 14:05This, uh, this was someone took a 1980 400i and made it into a stretch limousine.
- 14:11Now, you can go around and look at, just type in 400i stretch limo and you'll
- 14:17find some, you'll actually, you'll find a YouTube video on this and see it.
- 14:20It's not the prettiest and I don't know why someone would have
- 14:23taken a 400i and did this to it.
- 14:24But, hey, God bless them.
- 14:26I've seen worse.
- 14:27So, and it sold.
- 14:29For hammered at 48, 000 then with committee, you know, uh, the commission
- 14:33tacked on attempts has 52 eight So I thought that one's kind of interesting
- 14:37not really much on that But like I said, if you want to go out and check
- 14:40it out on the internet It is out and about you can see some pictures on it.
- 14:43It's white.
- 14:44Can't miss it.
- 14:45Next one.
- 14:46He's got a 512 BBI And 83 now this one was red with black leather It was unrestored
- 14:53original is number two condition.
- 14:54This is a post block sale at about Just a smidge over 238, 000 and then with
- 15:01commission everything that just a just a hair under 267, 000 Now this had air
- 15:07conditionings, you know good probably original paint Car to tell you that's
- 15:12really can't get the paint me to go all the way around it But it looked
- 15:15like it was pretty original paint.
- 15:16I has slightly creased some upholstery in there You know some
- 15:20of the console controls are a little worn Um, their panel behind the one
- 15:25passenger seat was a bit damaged.
- 15:26So it was just a clean unrestored chassis.
- 15:29Well maintained, largely, you know, original exams only had 7, 010 miles
- 15:34on it, which were believed to be real.
- 15:36So, um, that was the sole for our at worldwide's auction.
- 15:41So that was the one they got.
- 15:42So that was theirs now.
- 15:44Now here we're getting into one.
- 15:45It's my favorite.
- 15:46So obviously because of my age, this is when I was.
- 15:49In my teens that these things were hot and whatnot in my early 20s.
- 15:52So this 1989 Testarossa Red with tan leather, uh, tan leather, tan leather
- 16:00This one was unrestored original number two condition Hammered at 155 and
- 16:05then with everything it was 170, 500 I Had good original paint interior.
- 16:11The driver's seat was slightly stretched and creased a bit, but obviously, you
- 16:14know, someone's driving it, which is good The engine compartment was nice and tidy.
- 16:20Uh, it only had just a hair over 17, 000 original miles that were
- 16:23represented on the odometer.
- 16:25So, it seemed like, it looked like to me that was pretty legit.
- 16:29Uh, surprisingly the nose was kind of free of any stone chips or anything
- 16:32like that, which was kind of odd because you would think the way that thing is,
- 16:35if it's original paint and everything like that, there would be some chips.
- 16:37But, I don't know maybe someone was very diligent in regards to,
- 16:41uh, when they drove it, where they drove it, and whatnot.
- 16:43So, anyway.
- 16:47Now, um, that was kind of, you know, uh, not too bad up there.
- 16:53Um, but RM sold the mono Spexio, you know, the single flying
- 16:59mirror ones, uh, for 162.
- 17:014 and so it's kind of, I don't know.
- 17:07You got the ones and that's I guess out there.
- 17:10I want to say the argument is and some people are being, you know, going and
- 17:14leaning towards the fact is the single flying wing mirror ones that they
- 17:17would be called, um, are becoming more collectible out in the marketplace.
- 17:23Just because.
- 17:24With especially because it only has one mirror as compared to later
- 17:27ones where they started having the two mirrors So, I don't know.
- 17:30I mean I dig it but I prefer two mirrors.
- 17:33I think to me it just balances out That's just me.
- 17:35Some people are gonna prefer the single mirror So but hey, but so you
- 17:39some people are saying those are worth more now I don't know that I guess it
- 17:43just boils down to personal opinion.
- 17:44I don't know that time anyways Next one we got is a 512 TR, which I love
- 17:50these things that they're getting into.
- 17:51And, um, I love the 512 TRs.
- 17:53I love the 512Ms too.
- 17:54Uh, love to be able to afford one of those one.
- 17:57That'd be outstanding.
- 17:58So again, this was Russ Acosta with black leather.
- 18:00Now they estimated that this one was going to hammer about 275 to 325.
- 18:04Now this was unrestored original, about a three plus condition.
- 18:07This thing hammered at 265, 000.
- 18:10So it's commissioned everything that out the door was 296.
- 18:125.
- 18:14So, um, You know, alloy wheels, Michelin tires, you know, I had the fender shields
- 18:18on it, you know, it actually had the Chidoni luggage also with the books
- 18:21and the tools, everything like that.
- 18:22Uh, now this one was described as one of two prototype cars
- 18:25built to US specifications.
- 18:27So, you know, I don't know about that, but hey, you gotta go by
- 18:30what I guess you're being told.
- 18:31Um, I wasn't really sure about documentation.
- 18:34I didn't see any, but I'm sure there probably was something to back that
- 18:37up because I don't think someone would want to send that, send that over the
- 18:40auction block without having doc papers.
- 18:42You're just going to say, that's what it is.
- 18:44Um, now there was lots of paint loss in the early mist, misty
- 18:47residue with the engine compartment.
- 18:49Um, so I don't know, but hey, they had good paint, slightly worn upholstery.
- 18:53Now the mileage claimed to be a little about 20, 647 miles.
- 18:58So it looks about legit.
- 19:00Now, um, this thing was probably sold to Russo Steel at the
- 19:04Monterey in 2017 for 214, 500.
- 19:07So it's gone up in value.
- 19:09Um, I guess it's been, was preserved since then because I think it had very
- 19:13little added miles to it from that.
- 19:16Um, so, but being one of the early builds to actually be in a, I
- 19:20guess, prototype pilot test car.
- 19:22I mean, I don't know.
- 19:22I mean, I guess you'd be a little bit concerned, um, in regards to.
- 19:28Something going wrong.
- 19:28I mean, because you know, those first ones kind of going through, but I don't know.
- 19:32I guess that's just me.
- 19:33Um, next one we had up is a, I kind of dig these things too.
- 19:37Uh, it's a 95 4 56 GT.
- 19:39Now this is black with beige.
- 19:41I think it was only estimated to go for 60 80 grand.
- 19:43Now it was unrestored about, uh, number two condition.
- 19:46Now this is again, hammered at 110 plus the commission.
- 19:50So it went from 1 23 to now that was rather interesting.
- 19:55Um,
- 19:59It, you know, I mean, granted these, it was a manual.
- 20:02So, um, that kind of, I guess, helps them the value, you know, this day and
- 20:07age, I'm going to do a podcast that I'm later down the road and regarding this
- 20:10about, you know, the gated manuals to the automatics or the F1 transmissions.
- 20:14However you want to kind of present that.
- 20:16Um, I'm just, I mean, either a great, but if I had my druthers,
- 20:21I would take a gate at six speed.
- 20:23So, but anyways, so this thing got, you know, got up there
- 20:25as compared to the estimate.
- 20:26I mean, that's a pretty significant jump.
- 20:28I mean, basically, you know, what the final price with commission,
- 20:31everything was almost basically double the low end of the estimate.
- 20:35So as you can see where these things are headed.
- 20:37And again, I don't know if the gated six speeds got something to
- 20:39do with it, but these things are starting to gain a little attention
- 20:42and get some attraction on people.
- 20:44And, you know, cause it's a great grand tour, man.
- 20:46If you want to go for a drive and get in that car for five, six, seven hours and
- 20:49just go and cruise at 90, a hundred miles.
- 20:51I mean, that thing's perfect for it.
- 20:53The seats are comfortable.
- 20:54It's a great car.
- 20:55I've driven a few of them.
- 20:56They're, they're not that bad.
- 20:57You know, it's not the, you know, most head turning design of a car.
- 21:01Um, you know, but like I said, you know, you're driving it for that motor.
- 21:05That's underneath that hood mileage on.
- 21:07This was only about 24, 750.
- 21:10Just a smidge under, uh, said supposedly have carefully looked
- 21:14after the past two and a half decades.
- 21:16You know, I mean, yeah, obviously, you know, age wise, it's getting up there.
- 21:19But hey, this was actually, I think, you know, These are going to go up
- 21:22in value, I think, a little bit.
- 21:23How much, I don't know, but it's a good, it's a good entry into the
- 21:27Ferrari market for someone that's looking for a good, reliable car.
- 21:31Yeah, again, with any Ferrari, you're going to have your
- 21:33maintenance costs and whatnot.
- 21:34But anyways, if you're looking for something to get into and have some
- 21:37fun, especially if you've got kids.
- 21:39Um, there you go.
- 21:40It's got a back seat.
- 21:41Now, they better be young because not anyone probably over the age of
- 21:45eight might be able to fit back there with their legs down in the seat.
- 21:47But, if you need to do it, hey, it's got the trunk, it's got the back seat.
- 21:51There you go, family hauler.
- 21:52Could be your daily, taking your kids doing school runs.
- 21:57Alright, next one.
- 21:58Like I said, this was, this is one of my favorites.
- 22:01I love these 512Ms.
- 22:03This was a 95.
- 22:04Now, this was black with tan leather.
- 22:06I'm a big fan of black.
- 22:08Nothing looks prettier than a black car in my opinion, but the problem is nothing
- 22:11gets dirtier or quicker than a black car.
- 22:13Um, and you gotta really know what you're doing detailing those
- 22:16things because you talk about seeing swirl marks and black paint.
- 22:19Absolute nightmare.
- 22:20Now this one was estimated to go from about four and a quarter
- 22:22to four and three quarters.
- 22:23So between 425, 000 and 475, 000.
- 22:26Now this is unrestored original, but in about two condition.
- 22:29And this thing hammered sold at the high end of the estimate of 475, 000.
- 22:33So with commission and everything like the final price was.
- 22:35527, 500.
- 22:37So beat that, you know, it said nailed it at the hammer.
- 22:40So what don't commission it was above estimate.
- 22:42So that's kind of tells you where these things are going.
- 22:44I think these are going to start getting more, uh, valuable as time goes on.
- 22:49You know, this is one out there.
- 22:50I wasn't, you know, using that term blue chip collectible, but I think
- 22:53these fights, especially if it's got lower miles on it's well maintained and
- 22:56service histories, I think these things.
- 22:59Probably, you know, they're going to get up there now.
- 23:01Will they ever reach a million dollars?
- 23:02I don't know, maybe another 15, 20 years potentially, but I just have a feeling.
- 23:07I think these things are going to go up in value significantly
- 23:09in the next five to 10 years.
- 23:11So if you're out there shopping, there you go.
- 23:13Take a look at this one.
- 23:14Now, this one only had just a little bit over 15, 000 original miles on it,
- 23:17had the belt service done late 2021.
- 23:20So, Hey, you know, that, that's good to see you don't have to worry
- 23:22about that for a couple of years or a couple, you know, those, like
- 23:26I said, you want to get them done.
- 23:28Quite frequently even if you don't drive because just it is what it is just
- 23:31the way it is on the Ferrari You know That's what I love about these 512Ms
- 23:37though, because these being the last year basically of the Testarossas being built.
- 23:41These carry a premium over your 512TRs or even your Testarossas
- 23:45about three times more than those.
- 23:46Just because of what they are.
- 23:48So, and there's very small build quantities of these things too, so.
- 23:51They're tough to find, and a lot of them usually have low miles and are well
- 23:54maintained just because of what they are.
- 23:56So, if you're ever out there in the hunt, you know, just get all your
- 23:59service history and everything on it.
- 24:01Now.
- 24:01The next one we got here is a 550 a 2001 550 marinetto Now this was a just blue
- 24:09posy with tan leather Now this thing was estimated to go for about 150 to 200,
- 24:14000 I've owned a 550 before so I know how much fun these things are love that car
- 24:20and I should never gotten rid of it But other things arose and just had to do it.
- 24:24And that was one I wish I would have kept.
- 24:27And so that's why I'm still out there as I mentioned before.
- 24:30So I'm going to take a look at this 366 speed.
- 24:33Uh, here hopefully when the person gets it back from getting service and all
- 24:36the belt stuff and everything like that.
- 24:38Even though I'm not really sure I want to go the convertible route.
- 24:41You know, but we shall see because it's in great condition, low miles and all the
- 24:44service and everything is getting done.
- 24:45So it'll be ready to go as soon as I get it.
- 24:46So we'll see.
- 24:47But anyways.
- 24:48Like I said, the estimate on this was 000.
- 24:50It was unrestored, about a three condition on it.
- 24:52It hammered at 225, 000.
- 24:55So right there it even hammered way above, I don't want to say way above,
- 24:58but above estimate by a decent amount.
- 25:01So with the commission roughly around 12%, it was 252, 000 out the door.
- 25:07So, as you can see, these things are starting to go up too.
- 25:09I.
- 25:09e., because, hey, it's a gated 6 speed.
- 25:13Now these had the Daytona style seats and they had the fender shields.
- 25:16Uh, CD changer, you know, had the alloy wheels, had Pilot Super Sport tires,
- 25:19tinted windows, had some stone chipping on the nose, but not, not much, slightly
- 25:23worn, soiled on the driver's seat.
- 25:25Hey, someone's driving a little bit.
- 25:26Uh, the common problem that always is, and if you're ever out there shopping
- 25:30for your first Ferrari, you know, Buttons in the interior get a little bit sticky.
- 25:33So it's something that you're going to trust and fix.
- 25:35But this one had the buttons were still getting a little bit sticky.
- 25:38Um, and, and not on this car, but they always look at the dash too.
- 25:42Dash has sometimes a tendency to start really going a little bit wonky.
- 25:45Um, but some chips and scratch from the driver's side door handle,
- 25:48you know, getting in and out.
- 25:49So maybe someone's probably wearing rings, something like that.
- 25:52And just not being cautious.
- 25:53Uh, had just this hair under that just a smidge over 29, 000 miles.
- 25:58So, um, look like it.
- 26:02You know where it was, but you know, not the best preserved one, uh, showing age.
- 26:06I mean, you could have had a good detail done to it.
- 26:08Um, and you probably could have gotten a little bit more out of this too.
- 26:13It's been way above the high estimate.
- 26:16Um, but Hey, you know, some people, it's, you know, they don't give
- 26:21to, you know, what's when they take a car to auction other people.
- 26:25You know, they are meticulous about it and they'll have someone like
- 26:28Ammo New York come in and they'll spend three, four, five thousand
- 26:31dollars on a detailing job on a car.
- 26:33Cause they'll use, sometimes they'll get it back and more.
- 26:35I mean, presentation is everything.
- 26:38Um, that's just the way it works.
- 26:40Out there in the auction world.
- 26:42Um, there's a few other here, like, you know, these, um, got some three 20, like
- 26:46these three Oh eights and three twice.
- 26:47We're going, I kind of whipped some of these.
- 26:50Now these things are going up too, but like, let's take this one real quick.
- 26:53Those 85, three Oh eight GTV.
- 26:56Now, red tan, tan leather, red piping, estimate was 70 to 110.
- 27:00This thing sold at 120.
- 27:02So, again, above estimate.
- 27:03Again, it's the gated six beads.
- 27:05So, I think these things are starting to really go up in value.
- 27:08So, if you can get your hands on some gated six beads out there, people.
- 27:12Tell them you get it, you can drive it for six months, probably turn
- 27:14around and sell it for more money.
- 27:15At least get your money back, as long as you take care of it, maintain
- 27:18it, don't beat the crap out of it.
- 27:20So anyways, so that thing sold twice, so with commission everything is 134, 400.
- 27:26So I mean, it's kind of showing, I mean, this thing had, you
- 27:28know, it was an older repaint.
- 27:30Uh, some minor stress cracks and what not.
- 27:33You know, engine compartment had a little bit of oil misting to it.
- 27:36Um, not much, some paint loss on the interior and the engine bay.
- 27:39You know, but it was a really nice car.
- 27:43I mean, this had multiple FCA platinum awards, so it was real consistent,
- 27:47only had 27, 106 miles on it, but Hey, this person took care of it and they
- 27:52were very, very nice and good at it.
- 27:55So, Hey, God bless him.
- 27:56They took him, babied it up.
- 27:57So now, um, it's got some 328s that were in here.
- 28:01Also, um, another red tan one.
- 28:04It's sold at the, out the door to 165, 000.
- 28:08Another red tan with, I mean, sorry, red black leather.
- 28:12Uh, this one sold out the door at one 51, eight.
- 28:15Um, so another three and here's another three 48 that we came across.
- 28:22Uh, another is red tan.
- 28:25Uh, that one went out the door at 79 too.
- 28:28So this one was kind of interesting cause it was sold by leak in Scotts in 2020.
- 28:34So two years ago for only 49, five, then.
- 28:38Then by Barrett Jackson at the Houston auction four months ago for reported 110.
- 28:43So It's kind of jumping around.
- 28:45So someone got it and then lost some money So now this is the one
- 28:50that thought was really interesting.
- 28:51I want to kind of bring up that I kind of focused on and Go, so
- 28:57this was a f355 spider It's a 95.
- 29:02It was black With tan interior.
- 29:05Now the estimate was 130 to 160, 000.
- 29:08This was a six speed manual And forgive me if I was saying six speed on some of
- 29:14those other ones because I should have seen five speed because they're older, but
- 29:17my apologies I'm getting a little wrapped up in this and I get excited again.
- 29:21I apologize So now this I said 130 to 160 was the estimate Estimate
- 29:28now, this was unrestored number two condition Hammered at 200, 000.
- 29:32So with the commission rate and everything, out the door, 224, 000.
- 29:37So look at that.
- 29:37That was almost, what is that, 64, 000 above estimate that went.
- 29:44And I don't know about you, I always include the commission
- 29:46rate when that thing goes out the door because that's what, you
- 29:48know, you've got to pay the money.
- 29:49Um, that's kind of like the sticky thing about auctions is, is that
- 29:54considered part of the value of the card?
- 29:55So I mean, Everyone when he's sitting in an auction going, you know, I've,
- 29:59I'll never buy a car at auction.
- 30:01I just, me, I'd rather be able to like drive a car, test it and really
- 30:04scrutinize the heck out of it.
- 30:06Um.
- 30:07But you know, when you're sitting there, you're bidding, you got to take
- 30:09into account what the commission is.
- 30:10So if you're, Hey, so I was going, okay, 200.
- 30:12So if I bid 200, it's going to be actually 224.
- 30:15You know, you, you got to keep that in your mind.
- 30:17I mean, that's 24 grand extra on top of it.
- 30:19Now, what was this thing was okay.
- 30:21Had this, you know, fender shields, this appears zero tires on it.
- 30:24He had the carbon, um, fiber door sills.
- 30:26It only had 898 miles.
- 30:29Now that probably played a big role.
- 30:31And it being what it was when it crossed the block, it went
- 30:34for the 200, 000 at the hammer.
- 30:37So basically, a brand new F 355.
- 30:41I drove one of these once and they're fun cars.
- 30:43They're great, huge improvement over the 348s.
- 30:46I know a lot of people out there like 348s, but it was a huge, huge improvement
- 30:50over the 348, the 355 is a great car.
- 30:53And again, these are ones where actually if you shop around, look, you find some
- 30:57with like maybe 20, 30, 000 miles, maybe it needs a belt service and whatnot.
- 31:01You can find, you know, pretty decent ones out there.
- 31:04And so it might need some work.
- 31:05Now don't do what Tyler Hoover did.
- 31:07And when he bought that yellow one, that convertible he just got recently, I don't
- 31:11know if you watch any of, uh, Hoovy's Garage, but he, that thing, whoo, that
- 31:16they needed a lot of love, but I mean, he got it at a good price, but again,
- 31:21that's kind of one of those deals.
- 31:22I'm always in the mindset, I'm going to buy one that's already done.
- 31:25It's on the button.
- 31:25I just get it and go.
- 31:27I really don't like have to buy something then go spend a bunch more
- 31:30money on getting it up and running.
- 31:32Uh, it's just me.
- 31:33I'd rather buy one that's already, it's all ready to go and out the door.
- 31:36So, uh, and this thing actually, I actually had a belt service done on it.
- 31:41And again, as I talked before, even just because you don't drive doesn't mean you
- 31:44shouldn't be doing these belt services.
- 31:46Those things will just start to deteriorate, especially
- 31:47from not using them.
- 31:49Uh, just one of those things of owning a Ferrari.
- 31:52So.
- 31:52Now this, uh, other one said, there's a, I was interested in this one,
- 31:56but it wasn't a gated six speed.
- 31:57It was a, it had the F1 transmission.
- 31:59It was a 2001 360, but I love the color on it.
- 32:02It was a fly yellow with the black leather.
- 32:04Now it was unrestored, about a number two condition.
- 32:06So it was a nice looking car.
- 32:08Hammered at 100, so with commission rate and everything, it was 110.
- 32:11Had the black calipers, fender shields, power Daytona style seats,
- 32:15you know, rear challenge grill.
- 32:16Um, yeah, the Bridgestone tires, that's a chip, chip guarded nose, door
- 32:20edges, rear, you know, stuff like that.
- 32:22So they, uh, put the stuff necessary on there, kind of keep all the,
- 32:26the highly prone areas that kind of take some beating on it to, um,
- 32:30keep them, you know, well presented.
- 32:33Now the belt surface done about a year ago, but service record
- 32:37shows about a little under 20, I'm sorry, a little over 22, 000.
- 32:43660 miles roughly it was showing on there.
- 32:46Uh, it wasn't represented, but that's what looking at service everything.
- 32:48That's what I was saying.
- 32:49So, um, not, you know, pretty decent price for, you know, one of these cars
- 32:55for how good it look, you know, 410 grand.
- 32:57Um, you know, these three sixties are getting, you know, pretty decently
- 33:00priced, um, with F1 transmissions.
- 33:03Um, now I said some people like them, some people don't, but you know, when you're
- 33:07comparing it, if you drove something recent and you try and compare the two
- 33:10transmissions, it's going to seem like a dinosaur when you try and drive it.
- 33:13It's just those things, you know, they shift very slow compared to the new stuff.
- 33:17You know, they still shift decently.
- 33:20It's just something you got to figure out.
- 33:22It's, it's, it's with any car, it's going to have its quirks.
- 33:26It's going to have it's very, you know, unique attributes and what not.
- 33:30Sorry, that was my wife texting me if you heard that in the background.
- 33:33So, but as with any car, it's always going to take little nuances and what not.
- 33:36And that's what makes cars great.
- 33:38You know, each one has it's own little quirks.
- 33:40It's own little styles and what not.
- 33:42How you have to drive it, what you do.
- 33:43I'm sure all of you have had Your car out there that you know, you're basically
- 33:47the only one that could drive it because you knew what to do You had to push
- 33:50this button in and lift this up to get something to start and all that crap
- 33:53So, I mean, it's what makes car fun.
- 33:55So but anyways That's kind of what I wanted to go over a little bit regarding
- 33:59the Scottsdale's auctions And kind of that's just a you know, a little overview
- 34:05of went through the kind of cars I found, you know kind of interesting to
- 34:08go through there was there were some four or five eights There's a Ford 30 that
- 34:12went through That, you know, again, the F1 transmission, uh, it had an estimate
- 34:18of 250, 300, 000, you know, hammered at 255 right there to the lower end.
- 34:24Uh, so out the door is 285.
- 34:255.
- 34:26So, um, you know, it only had 3, 700 miles on it roughly in
- 34:302017 and sold for 231, 000.
- 34:34So, it's not a bad deal.
- 34:36But anyways, that's about all I have to talk about on these auction results.
- 34:41So listen, I'll get some more out later this week.
- 34:45I'll have another podcast dropped, um, and talk about, I'm really interested
- 34:48in wanting to speak about Louie, Luigi Shinetti and kind of give his story
- 34:52and everything to everyone out there.
- 34:53So again, I appreciate everybody.
- 34:55Listen, check out the website, Instagram, go to my LinkedIn page.
- 34:59Um, if you got any suggestions, whatnot, just give me a, shoot me an email.
