- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Dirty Dirty Disco, the brand new single from the Rogue
- 0:05Speaker 2: Traders and Danny Minogue.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's out today. The Rogue Traders are joining us here.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We've got James, we've got Natalie Basingth-Wade.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, good morning.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Morning.
- 0:15Speaker 4: What's up, what's up?
- 0:17Speaker 5: Hey, guys.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hey, Nat, last time we had you on the show, Nat,
- 0:19Speaker 2: you were on Zoom and you got random calls from
- 0:22Speaker 2: our listeners asking you for parents' advice.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I mean, I'm.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Clearly like the ultimate parent.
- 0:26Speaker 5: Obviously, you get it.
- 0:28Speaker 3: That's why. Yeah, I'm not even sure if we're allowed
- 0:30Speaker 3: to say what we were talking about, are we?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I think she was asking me advice on wet
- 0:35Speaker 3: dreams and I'm like, oh.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Ooh, for her son.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, when I think of Nat Passingway, I don't think, oh,
- 0:42Speaker 2: I'm going to ask her about wet dreams and my son.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the last thing that.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Comes to my mind. It was really random.
- 0:48Speaker 2: We were like, call it if you want to ask
- 0:50Speaker 2: Nat Pass anything and she wanted to know about her
- 0:52Speaker 2: son's wet dreams.
- 0:53Speaker 3: How do I handle this? And over to you. Yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You guys are celebrating your 21st anniversary this year. Congratulations.
- 1:02Speaker 5: It sounds like a marriage, doesn't it? 21 years of marriage.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:07Speaker 4: We are. And it's so fun.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 5: We feel like we're 21. We still feel really silly,
- 1:13Speaker 5: but now we're kind of old enough to sort of
- 1:14Speaker 5: do what we want.
- 1:15Speaker 4: At the same time.
- 1:15Speaker 3: You're kind of like performing without any inhibitions, right?
- 1:19Speaker 1: So true.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 4: So true.
- 1:21Speaker 3: And what's it like performing to a– fans in 2026.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Is it different?
- 1:26Speaker 4: No.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Exactly the same?
- 1:28Speaker 3: It's actually so strange because we have the weirdest demographic, right?
- 1:32Speaker 3: So when Voodoo Child came out in 2005.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Like 25-year-olds, 30-year-olds. But then those people who had kids were, like,
- 1:40Speaker 3: jamming to Voodoo Child. Yes. So now their kids are
- 1:43Speaker 3: their age.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Yes, they're coming.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And they're, like, 20 years older.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So it's a very mixed bunch.
- 1:47Speaker 3: We have, like, 20 right through to, like, 60.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You've got a huge demographic. That's right. It's amazing.
- 1:51Speaker 5: It's really broad.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty fun.
- 1:53Speaker 1: And, James, of course, you started the Rogue Traders.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 2: But we know Singer to begin with, and then you
- 1:57Speaker 2: found Nat Bass.
- 1:57Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:58Speaker 4: How did you guys meet? That's right. Oh, wow.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Well, well, well.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 4: It all happened 21 years ago pretty much.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Were you doing Neighbours then?
- 2:06Speaker 2: No.
- 2:07Speaker 4: You were on Neighbours when I met you.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I was, that's right, and I auditioned. But then I
- 2:12Speaker 3: got the job.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Yes, and then I got to be an extra on Neighbours.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Did you? Well, like a fair exchange to me.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a good exchange. That was the deal.
- 2:19Speaker 4: I know, I did. I was so excited.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And my mum did too.
- 2:22Speaker 5: My mum, who's like the, you know, she's English and
- 2:25Speaker 5: she's the biggest Pummy Neighbours fan.
- 2:28Speaker 4: She was made up for years.
- 2:29Speaker 3: But we kept my identity secret so that it wasn't
- 2:32Speaker 3: about Neighbours and Rogue Traders.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 3: The single became really successful without... a profiled person on it,
- 2:39Speaker 3: which we're both really proud of that. And that was
- 2:41Speaker 3: really intentional from our part.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So people didn't know it was you?
- 2:44Speaker 3: No.
- 2:45Speaker 1: It's just your vocals.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Well, I had a black wig on in the video clip,
- 2:48Speaker 3: so you don't really recognise me. And we never went
- 2:50Speaker 3: out and pitched it as that because we wanted the
- 2:53Speaker 3: music to speak for itself. You don't love it or
- 2:55Speaker 3: hate it just because of the track. Yeah, that's really cool.
- 2:57Speaker 5: And then we did that bit of the arias where
- 2:59Speaker 5: Nat had the black wig and then she ripped it
- 3:01Speaker 5: off to show these beautiful blonde locks that you can
- 3:04Speaker 5: see right now. And, yeah, that became the moment. So, yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 5: I don't know really. You know what they say, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 5: the days are long but the weeks fly by.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah, the days are long but the years are flying.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And 21 years. So have you stayed together the whole
- 3:18Speaker 1: time or have you taken breaks?
- 3:20Speaker 4: No, we had breaks.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Yeah, we did for a bit there.
- 3:23Speaker 4: For about five years?
- 3:24Speaker 3: Five years.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Well, you did your own music, didn't you, Nat?
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah, did my own music.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But you're definitely together. If someone says are the Rogue
- 3:30Speaker 1: Traders together, you're together.
- 3:31Speaker 3: We were destined to come back to it. There's no,
- 3:34Speaker 3: you know, we got asked to do a gig and
- 3:36Speaker 3: we were like, okay. And then we did it. And
- 3:38Speaker 3: after that gig, we were like, this is, it's too
- 3:40Speaker 3: much fun. And, People love it more than what we
- 3:43Speaker 3: even imagined they would. Like they're singing all the songs.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I mean, I think we had how many top ten
- 3:47Speaker 3: hits or something?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Seven.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I don't know, like a lot. And so you forget.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 3:52Speaker 3: You forget. But I feel like all of the old songs,
- 3:54Speaker 3: like they say like everything that was old is now
- 3:56Speaker 3: new again. Like everything's having like a resurgence and everything
- 4:01Speaker 3: sounds new.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Fresh and it's all exciting and.
- 4:03Speaker 5: That's I guess that's always true you know I guess
- 4:06Speaker 5: as an artist you just got sometimes you got to
- 4:07Speaker 5: hang in there but also for us I think the
- 4:09Speaker 5: key has been not holding on to the past yes
- 4:12Speaker 5: and yes you got to honor those songs and when
- 4:14Speaker 5: we perform live we go out there and of course
- 4:16Speaker 5: we do Voodoo Child and all the big ones that
- 4:18Speaker 5: people know us for. But for us, it feels great
- 4:21Speaker 5: to also just make new music that.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Makes us excited.
- 4:25Speaker 5: And I know that we know very well the fans
- 4:27Speaker 5: want to hear those moments. But for us as well,
- 4:30Speaker 5: it really keeps us exciting to make new tunes.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Dirty Dirty Disco comes out today.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Right now.
- 4:35Speaker 1: How was it doing a song with Danny Minogue?
- 4:38Speaker 3: It was next level. Yeah. Like we kept... Because I
- 4:41Speaker 3: know Dani. We've been friends for a long time. We
- 4:43Speaker 3: did X Factor together a million years ago.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Yes, of course. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 3: But it's still a pinch me moment. I think we
- 4:50Speaker 3: were like, this is iconic. And Dani was the person
- 4:54Speaker 3: that we knew we wanted on this track. We didn't
- 4:56Speaker 3: go to anyone else. We were like, we sent it
- 4:59Speaker 3: to her. Oh, that's cool. I said, do you, what
- 5:02Speaker 3: do you think? And she wrote, oh my God, in
- 5:05Speaker 3: capital letters, this is fab. And then we just started
- 5:07Speaker 3: talking and it was just, and she has been, All
- 5:10Speaker 3: of us have been so involved in the creation. James
- 5:13Speaker 3: over here directed the video clip, coming up with concepts.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Danny and I are like heavily involved with the fashion
- 5:18Speaker 3: and what are we wearing. So it's been unreal.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Well, good on you guys. And it's great that we're
- 5:25Speaker 1: still going 21 years later.
- 5:27Speaker 4: We feel like we're just kicking it off right now.
- 5:30Speaker 3: You are. It's actually true.
- 5:31Speaker 4: That's what it feels like.
- 5:32Speaker 5: And this track also feels like such a blend of,
- 5:34Speaker 5: you know, Danny's dance kind of heritage, which he's really
- 5:39Speaker 5: known for, and the kind of rogues grit that we
- 5:41Speaker 5: have with the guitars. It's a dance track, but there's
- 5:43Speaker 5: guitars in it. And it just feels right.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I can't wait to see the film clip.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 4: The girls deliver.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Believe me.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Big slay.
- 5:53Speaker 1: That was a fun day.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I bet it was.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Dirty Dirty Disco, the brand new single from the Rogue
- 5:58Speaker 2: Traders and Danny Minogue.
