- 0:00How day one go for you?
- 0:01>> Day one went really well. Uh, you know,
- 0:03the offense was clicking. Uh, some
- 0:05things to clean up, but I'm very excited
- 0:07first day. Um, we're going to get in
- 0:09that film room, learn, and uh, grow for
- 0:11the next next practice.
- 0:12>> As somebody who has such a good
- 0:14understanding of what Coach Golish wants
- 0:16to do, what Coach Gordon wants to do,
- 0:18all these USF guys, what are you kind of
- 0:20doing yourself this spring? How are you
- 0:21kind of taking it upon yourself to to
- 0:23maybe facilitate the the transition from
- 0:25from the offense at USF now to Auburn?
- 0:28>> Uh, just learn the ins and outs. uh and
- 0:30then take take my understanding to to
- 0:32the defense side of the ball. See what
- 0:33they're trying to do to us so that way I
- 0:35can be more fast and be be more
- 0:37efficient and get the ball to the
- 0:38playmakers and let them make plays. So
- 0:39that's what I'm working on. And then,
- 0:41you know, help helping out guys when
- 0:42they need help and I I'll be I'll be
- 0:45that that voice that they can come to
- 0:46and that person they can come to if they
- 0:48need help.
- 0:48>> How much does it help you as a
- 0:49quarterback when you're out there
- 0:50practice and it's like guys you've
- 0:52thrown to for years now, not out there
- 0:54and you get to pick up right where you
- 0:55left off with them?
- 0:56>> Man, it's great. you know, you just got
- 0:57that natural chemistry that that you
- 0:59built for for a whole year. So, uh just
- 1:02bringing it to a new place and uh then
- 1:04building chemistry with the new guys. I
- 1:05mean, it's it's been extremely fun um in
- 1:08in the winter and now uh in the spring.
- 1:10Excited to keep it rolling.
- 1:12>> Bar, talk a little bit about the the
- 1:13receiver. What do you you know, what do
- 1:15you see early on?
- 1:16>> Dogs. Dogs. They're fast, physical. Uh
- 1:20didn't have pads on today, but you you
- 1:21could see the physicality showing up uh
- 1:23in the spider.
- 1:25Um, I mean they they they catch
- 1:27everything within their framework,
- 1:28outside their framework. I got I I
- 1:30really love this love this receiver
- 1:31group.
- 1:32>> Bryce came.
- 1:33>> Go ahead, Gary.
- 1:34>> A guy like Chaz Neon didn't get to
- 1:36finish the season last year. What kind
- 1:37of the ceiling this year here at Auburn?
- 1:39>> Man, I hate to say it, but thousand yard
- 1:42receiver, I'm put that expectation on
- 1:44him. He he he works hard each and every
- 1:46single day. So, uh, I know he'll he's
- 1:48shooting for that and I'm I'm going to
- 1:50try to do what I can to get it to him
- 1:51and everyone else as well. Bryce Kane
- 1:53was a guy here who hadn't played a ton,
- 1:55but you know, a lot of people been
- 1:56really excited about. What have you seen
- 1:57out of him, especially how quick he is?
- 1:59>> Oh, man. He's fast. One, there's one
- 2:01play he shot out of the count. I was
- 2:02like, man, he rolling. So, uh, very
- 2:04excited for that. He catches the ball
- 2:06very cleanly. Uh, keep him in stride.
- 2:07He'll he'll take a short a short
- 2:10completion and make it a make it a
- 2:11touchdown. So, loving what I see from
- 2:12him.
- 2:13>> By, what was the past couple months like
- 2:15for you kind of being put at the
- 2:16forefront of maybe this this hire of
- 2:18Coach Kles? I know you you're at the
- 2:20basketball game the first day you
- 2:21signed. you were out on the road with
- 2:22with coach Burns and coach go talking to
- 2:24Auburn fans. Guess what has that been
- 2:25like to kind of be more or less them
- 2:27wanting you to hey, you know, be the
- 2:29face of the program as they're making
- 2:30this change?
- 2:31>> And it's truly a blessing. You know,
- 2:32it's something that you dream of and uh
- 2:34I mean I'm just truly blessed to be in
- 2:36this position. But I know that uh with
- 2:38that it comes a lot of hard work. And I
- 2:40mean I'm doing everything that I can
- 2:42outside of just the you know talking to
- 2:44the fans and everything inside this
- 2:46building. So that way I know that when
- 2:47I'm out out on the field the fans can
- 2:49trust that I'm going to do my job and my
- 2:50teammates can trust I'm going to do my
- 2:52job and the coaches as well.
- 2:53>> Galish was a tight end's coach for a
- 2:55while and he really likes that position.
- 2:57You talk about how key it is for you for
- 2:58you guys in this offense. How how big is
- 3:00that for you as a quarterback? How
- 3:02valuable are those guys? man, they they
- 3:04catch passes, they they block, and
- 3:06they're like the determining factor for
- 3:08how how we line up. So, uh they're
- 3:10they're very key. They're very cerebral.
- 3:12Uh loving this tight end group thus far.
- 3:14Um got some got some work to do. Um
- 3:16loving Aras, loving Jake, loving Hunter,
- 3:18loving loving all those guys, Ryan G as
- 3:20well. So, uh looking forward to the to
- 3:22the next practice as well.
- 3:24>> Uh you know, you obviously ran a ton
- 3:27last season and you know, it's a key
- 3:29part of this offense. You guys got
- 3:30running back, you got four guys who were
- 3:32leading running backs for their teams
- 3:33last year. How much you enjoying that?
- 3:34How much you like working with those
- 3:36guys and knowing that the running game
- 3:37is going to be huge for this offense?
- 3:38>> Love working with them. And I know that
- 3:40the
- 3:41>> presence of me is going to help open it
- 3:43for them. Uh you've got Cobb, uh Bryson,
- 3:46you got Tay, you got Mai. So th those
- 3:49guys, they've been to the rock. They
- 3:50excellent pass pro. Um and they can all
- 3:53can catch. So uh brings that um dynamic
- 3:56factor to to the offense as well. Barb,
- 3:59obviously you've Sorry, go ahead, Jerry.
- 4:00>> I was just gonna say just talk about
- 4:01your transition, you know, to Auburn.
- 4:03You know, I'm sure Alabama was a lot
- 4:04different than Florida.
- 4:06>> Uh, it's been smooth. I mean, uh,
- 4:08everyone has welcomed me with open arms
- 4:10and, you know, it hasn't stopped, which
- 4:11is like probably the most shocking
- 4:12thing. Like, everyone has been extremely
- 4:14genuine and I I truly appreciate that.
- 4:16And, you know, the football-wise, the
- 4:18the guys welcomed me in with open arms
- 4:20as soon as I got here and, you know,
- 4:22just like, "Let's go to work." And I've
- 4:23been been that ever since. How did you
- 4:25and the other How did you and the other
- 4:27USF guys react to waking up this morning
- 4:29and it's like 25 degrees outside?
- 4:31>> Man, I mean, we we thought we was
- 4:33outside, so we was ready. We was going
- 4:35to layer up, but uh they they told us we
- 4:37were inside and uh we was just excited
- 4:39to go out here and play ball uh for the
- 4:41first time as as the Auburn Tigers.
- 4:43That's
