- 0:55Dan Schulz: We like to start with that kinda story.
- 0:58Jennifer Davis: Very nice, very nice.
- 1:00Jennifer Davis: Nothing cuter than ducks being rescued.

- 2:55Dan Schulz: They have a.
- 2:56Dan Schulz: Location in Kirkland.
- 2:58Dan Schulz: Of course, on Saturday, April 18th from noon to three o'clock Pickles.

- 3:10Dan Schulz: You go in, you hang out, you meet people.
- 3:14Dan Schulz: There are things like puppy cuddling, dog lick art, and awkward photo stations Entry is free, then you pay for individual experiences if you want them.
- 3:23Dan Schulz: You don't have to be dating, just show up and meet people who like dogs.
- 3:27Dan Schulz: Listen, there are so many of those weird dating apps.
- 3:30Dan Schulz: I don't know, like 10 years ago, there really seem to be a lot of specific dating apps, like dating apps for farmers, dating apps for all these individual types of people, but honestly, having a dating app for dog
- 3:42Dan Schulz: people
- 3:43Jennifer Davis: Oh yeah.
- 3:45Dan Schulz: that is probably the smartest dating app you can have because I truly think mixed relationships do not work.
- 3:52Jennifer Davis: Agreed, and what a great idea.
- 3:54Jennifer Davis: So, uh, any app developers out there, make sure to give us credit.
- 4:00Jennifer Davis: so Dan, did you see Project Ha Mary yet?
- 4:03Dan Schulz: no.
- 4:04Dan Schulz: I want to though.
- 4:05Jennifer Davis: Do you read the book?
- 4:06Dan Schulz: What do you think?
- 4:07Dan Schulz: No, I don't have time to do anything, Jennifer.
- 4:10Jennifer Davis: Well, Monday, April 20th at brick and mortar books, they're hosting their general book club, and this month it's Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir with all the buzz right now.
- 4:21Jennifer Davis: It's great timing.
- 4:22Jennifer Davis: If you've been meaning to read it or at least you can pretend that you did.
- 4:27Dan Schulz: that would be me.
- 4:28Jennifer Davis: It's open to anyone.
- 4:30Jennifer Davis: No long-term commitment.
- 4:31Jennifer Davis: Just show up and join the conversation.
- 4:34Jennifer Davis: This is an easy weeknight plan that doesn't feel like work.
- 4:39Dan Schulz: Let's do a little bike bling news if you ride your bikes in Redmond.
- 4:43Dan Schulz: This week's got a lot going on.
- 4:44Dan Schulz: Starting today, April 16th at 6:20 PM with the East Side Tours.
- 4:49Dan Schulz: Evening ride plus the lumps.
- 4:52Dan Schulz: L-U-M-P-S, Redmond Estate Pie Ride happening on Friday.
- 4:56Dan Schulz: Now these are part of the Cascade Training series, so you should expect groups.
- 5:01Dan Schulz: Pace options and people who actually know what they're doing.
- 5:04Dan Schulz: Heads up though.
- 5:05Dan Schulz: The uh, five 20 trail is closed daily from eight to 4:00 PM on the 16th through the 18th, and again on the 22nd through the 24th between Westlake, Sam Amish and hundred 48th Avenue Northeast.
- 5:19Dan Schulz: The upside though is that the Redmond Central connector, as you know, is fully open and now connects cleanly into East Rail, which is actually pretty dang awesome.
- 5:30Dan Schulz: Okay.
- 5:30Dan Schulz: It's time for the Redmond history minute where we share an interesting piece of history, trivia or tidbit about life in and or around Redmond.
- 5:40Dan Schulz: Jennifer.
- 5:41Dan Schulz: Before Redmond Town Center was a shopping mall, what was on that land?
- 5:48Dan Schulz: Your choices are A, a dairy farm, B an 18 hole golf course CA lumber mill, DA drive in movie theater.
- 6:04Dan Schulz: Before Redmond Town Center was a shopping mall, what was on that land?
- 6:10Dan Schulz: And your timer starts now.
- 6:14Jennifer Davis: Well, you know, I think Dairy Farm is too obvious.
- 6:17Jennifer Davis: We've had a lot of dairy farm things in Redmond, surprisingly.
- 6:21Jennifer Davis: And uh, I know that we've got a golf course pretty close by, so I don't think it's, that might be lumber mill 'cause it's right there on the slew.
- 6:31Jennifer Davis: I'm not sure that a movie theater was ever there.
- 6:36Jennifer Davis: I'm gonna go see, I'm, I'm gonna use my faculties and guess it's right there on the slew.
- 6:42Jennifer Davis: Plenty of forest around.
- 6:43Jennifer Davis: I'm gonna go with CA lumber mill.
- 6:47Dan Schulz: And that's your final.
- 6:48Jennifer Davis: That is my final answer.
- 6:51Dan Schulz: Oh no.
- 6:54Dan Schulz: Once again, you are wrong.
- 6:56Dan Schulz: The answer is be an 18 hole golf course.
- 7:01Jennifer Davis: We already have a golf course.
- 7:04Dan Schulz: Redmond Golf links opened in 1932 during the Depression and ran all the way until 1981.
- 7:11Dan Schulz: The clubhouse was actually a former home of a Washington Supreme Court Justice.
- 7:16Dan Schulz: So if you're walking around Redmond Town Center, you're basically walking around on what used to be fairways.
- 7:23Dan Schulz: Think of that next time you're going to play magic.
- 7:26Dan Schulz: The gathering over at uncle's games.
- 7:28Jennifer Davis: Wow, beautiful country to make golf courses.
- 7:32Dan Schulz: It's this beautiful period to make anything, which reminds me, what do your gossip birds have?
- 7:37Dan Schulz: Something beautiful to put on this beautiful land.
- 7:48Jennifer Davis: Ah, yes.
- 7:49Jennifer Davis: We have another rumor that there might be a forest bathing wellness studio opening somewhere near Mary Moore later this fall.
- 7:59Jennifer Davis: Oh, maybe that instead of golf courses, forest bathing.
- 8:01Jennifer Davis: I like it a lot better.
- 8:02Jennifer Davis: Way more environmentally friendly.
- 8:05Dan Schulz: Forest bathing.
- 8:07Dan Schulz: I am just too old to understand our world.
- 8:10Jennifer Davis: The idea is guided sensory experiences, tea ceremonies, you know, that whole slow down and unplugged thing.
- 8:18Jennifer Davis: And apparently this concept has been doing really well down in Portland and it kind of makes sense for our modern.
- 8:24Jennifer Davis: World where we're not completely connected with nature anymore.
- 8:28Jennifer Davis: You hear people all the time saying, go out and touch grass.
- 8:30Jennifer Davis: Well now you can go bathe in the forest, What we don't know yet is the exact location who's behind it or when it's actually opening, but the big question is, would people here actually go for something like this?
- 8:45Jennifer Davis: If you've got a guess or have heard something, head on over to our facebookPage@facebook.com slash Best of Redmond and drop it in the Redmond rumor Mill guesses post.
